Types Of Species has presented in the seas
Tumblr media
Given the vast size of the ocean, it is impossible to know the exact number of species that live there. Research suggests, however, that the number of species in the ocean is decreasing. The continued decline in the health of many ecosystems, coupled with rising extinction rates, are likely outpacing species’ ability to evolve to tolerate the conditions of our rapidly changing planet. It is not all bad news, though. Researchers around the world continue to study marine life and habitats to help develop new strategies to preserve vital ocean ecosystems.

Beach hopping with Turkish family. From Serasa beach to Meragang beach. My intention is simply to take nice photos but sadly, here’s the photos I’ve taken. On the bright side, I can see there is a bin filled with plastics bottles, means, someone is attempting to curb the problem, I guess it’s not just a matter of individual trying to help, it’s more like all the individuals learn that it’s not your, his or her rubbish, it’s everyone’s rubbish and everyone’s responsibility. #marinelifematters #sea #beach #microplastics #beach #beaches #microplasticsinourfood #seeitforyourself #turkishfamily #family #holiday #team (at Meragang Beach) https://www.instagram.com/p/CO8JG5uhJOU/?igshid=ftnaia6a1c0t

#Repost @savethereef @download.ins --- ⚠️TERRIBLY SAD BREAKING NEWS⚠️ 380 long-finned pilot whales just died in what’s now become Australia’s worst mass stranding on record. It all started on Monday when 270 whales became stuck on sandbars in Macquarie Harbor, near the town of Strahan, on Tasmania’s rugged and sparsely populated west coast. Unfortunately, around 90 of the whales had already died by the time they were spotted by authorities, but a rescue mission was quickly launched on Tuesday to try and save the survivors. Rescue teams worked hard to re-float the whales and direct them back to deeper water, with around 30 whales released back out to sea by the end of Tuesday. However, Wednesday brought new horrors with an aerial survey of the area revealing a second group of ~200 long-finned pilot whales had stranded about 10km away in the same harbor. Sadly all 200 whales had perished. These whales were believed to be part of the same mass stranding event near Strahan. As of Wednesday, rescuers have re-floated around 70 whales, with a further 20 of those remaining deemed viable for release. Those who are still alive but are too weak to make it back out to sea will have to be euthanized, and the mammoth task of disposing of 380 two-tonne dead whales will begin. While some may be tempted to blame human activity, it’s thought this mass stranding had natural causes. Pilot whales are a deep-diving species with incredibly strong social bonds. It’s possible one leading individual could have mistakenly led the whole group to shore and then fallen victim to the area’s gently sloping beaches. Tasmania’s previous biggest stranding was in 1935 with 294 pilot whales. Please share this sad news with your followers and tag people who need to see it as we MUST learn to appreciate and respect our wildlife MUCH MORE before we lose anymore animals! Why do humans need bones, if sharks don't? 👇👇👇 . The difference is one of the beautiful examples of evolution and perfect habitat adaptation! 👌 . Bones? Strong, but brittle and not very bendy. Cartilage? Squishy, but light and flexible. What it comes down to? Gravity ⬇️ . If we, humans, were built out of cartilage we would simply collapse under the force of gravity. We need a stable bony frame to withstand the needs of living on land. 🏜️ . Sharks on the other hand, don't have this problem. Light, flexible skeleton not only means they need to spend less energy on swimming, but also makes them quick, agile master predators we all love ❤️ . 👉 Follow @freshnsaltyeco to get a clue in the blue! . . . #freshnsalty #clueintheblue #oceandecade #cartilage #sharksareawesome #sharkeducation #protectthesharks #sharkfin #sharks #oceandecade #sharkeducation #sharksarefriends #sharksofinstagram #savethesharks #oceaneducation #marinewildlife #animaleducation #protecttheocean #oceanawareness #savetheseas #marinelifematters #savemarinelife #oceanconservancy #oceanminded #oceanconservation #sciart #oceanlovers #oceanlife #marinelife https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb7yc2ZvCWg/?utm_medium=tumblr

Acanthopleura granulata is a species of chiton which is a marine mollusc. . A. granulata has hundreds of actual eyes embedded in their shell that can see an 8-inch-long (20 centimeters) fish from 6.5 feet (2 meters) away. . Even weirder, these eyes are made of the same calcium-carbonate mineral as the chiton shell. However, the animal does have to trade off some structural integrity in return for the sensory function. . Though these eyes can't make an image as clear as human eyes but they are good enough to detect a predator. . This system provides design lessons for us to learn how nature is able to produce material structures with multiple different functions. . . Single use plastic waste is the major contributor for marine pollution. The plastic we use for one time storage of beverages (water bottles) and food (takeaway boxes) end up in the ocean killing our sea life. Within 7 minutes of injesting plastic rays, sharks are many more like them can die! And so, many are dying. So many species today have come to extinction because of it. Next time you want to go watch dolphins, whales or want to scuba dive think about how we might not get to see any of the marine life in the future if we dont save them. Solution? [ ✅] Avoid single use plastics! [✅ ] If you end up with plastic them reuse them, recycle them. This way we can keep them out of the ocean. [ ✅] Recycling options: Check with local recycling centres about the types of plastic they accept. To find a place to recycle plastic waste nearby, check Earth911’s recycling directory. [✅ ] Going extra mile: You could volunteer in organized beach clean ups to help remove plastic from the ocean. There are regular events organized by International coastal cleanup. Let's make a conscious effort to save marine life. Visiting beaches or snorkeling will not be the same If we don't. ‐-----‐---------------------------------⠀ Get featured:⠀ ⠀ Tag: @backpacker_shru ⠀ Use: #backpackershru ⠀ ‐-‐‐------------------------------------⠀ #plasticwaste #plasticwastesolutions #plasticwastemanagement #plasticwastesucks #plasticwastemovement #plasticwasteland #plasticwastes #plasticwastekills #plasticwastefree #plasticwasteiskillingouroceans #marinelifematters #protectmarinelife #savemarinelife #marinelifephotography #marinelifepark #marinelifeconservation #marinelifeprotection #plastickillsmarinelife #marinelifestyle #marinelifeideas #lovemarinelife #marinelifelover #marinelifes #marineliferescue #marinelifemonday #marinelifecenter #marinelifeinstitute #marinelifematterstt #marinelifemari https://www.instagram.com/p/CEN_VVPpCbX/?igshid=1ni5ploehdfej

One of the things I love most about the picture book as a format is that sometimes the artwork is as compelling as the story. To be fair, Jennifer Berne's "Manfish: A Story of Jacques Cousteau" (2008) is a remarkably lovely biography of the pioneering oceanographer and environmentalist who became beloved across the world. Starting with his childhood, Berne does a beautiful job of evoking his genuine passion for life on the water. But Eric Puybaret's artwork is exquisite. Realistic enough to still be appealing to young kids, the images have a soft, dreamy quality to them that draw you deeply into the story, as Cousteau was drawn to the ocean's depths. A gorgeous example of what a picture book should be. ⚫ ⚫ ⚫ #noodlenutsclassickidlit #noodlenutskidsbooks #bookstagraminthe6ix #manfish #astoryofjacquescousteau #jenniferberne #ericpuybaret #éricpuybaret #jacquescousteau #oceanography #marinelife #marinelifematters #savetheocean #childhoodunplugged #homeschoolfamily #beautifulbooks #teachingresources #booksthatmatter #readyourworld #classroombooks #classroombookaday #bestkidsbooks #talkingwithkids #freelessonplans https://www.instagram.com/p/B3StZ7hHNvm/?igshid=14c0c3hyzq3ax

Orcas' culture, what does it even mean? 🤔🐬 . In the context of biology, culture is not about Shakespearean plays, but rather a collection of behaviors learned from one another across generations 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 . Just like with humans, one of the first cultural difference is language... and orcas are no different! Scientists have ample recorded evidence, that clicks and whistles orcas' use to communicate can be very different between the groups (clans), even if they live in a similar territory 🌏 . Hunting techniques and food preferences are another cultural aspect. Across the planet orcas have evolved many different methods for getting their selected meal - some like seals, some search for penguins, others love salmon. What's important, this preference is not necessarily connected with the food availability, which means it's a learned behavior, not opportunistic feeding! 🍲 . Cultural norms also dictate the selection of mates, means of playful and hierarchical interactions and many others, all within the boundaries of specific group 🎊 . However, this stunning similarity to mankind society doesn't come without a cost. Cultural attachment to certain food, makes orcas vulnerable to depleting fisheries - animals raised eating salmon, will not suddenly switch to chinook, even if salmon is scarce. For some groups, even mating outside the pod is not encouraged, creating weaker, inbred populations 🙄 . . . #freshnsalty #clueintheblue #orcas #evolution #culturalevolution #marinemammals #orcasofinstagram #orcagang #marinelife #oceanlife #marineconservation #killerwhale #marinelifematters #oceaneducation #oceanlover #seacreature #sealifeart #oceanart #oceanillustration #fishfacts #marinebiology #marinebio #fishillustration #scienceillustration #sciart #scienceandart #divingislife #divingisfun #underwaterlife #underwater_world https://www.instagram.com/p/CSUQ5H6K1dU/?utm_medium=tumblr
