I think something that a lot of batfam fics don’t take into account, especially fics where they meet the justice league, is that the kids alone could reveal Batman’s identity.
Of course Batman doesn’t want to introduce his kids to the league. If he only had one or two? Sure he’d probably eventually be ok with them meeting, lots of people in Gotham have one or two kids. But there are at minimum 6 bat kids, if you’re only counting the ones he adopted legally, though we all know that Steph is always there for the shits and giggles. The number of people in Gotham who have six kids? Specifically 5 sons and one daughter? That list is probably pretty short. It wouldn’t take a genius like Tim to link the bats to the Wayne’s, and all of their associates.
Huh dicky Wayne’s best friend is from star city. Batman’s eldest son is really close with kid flash (who also happens to have red hair)
Huh didn’t spoiler make a joke about kissing both RR and Black Bat? Didn’t two of the Wayne kids date the same girl (at different times)
Huh Damien Wayne moved to Gotham at the same time the new stabby Robin showed up.
Hey doesn’t Bruce have a cousin with red hair? Weird so does bat woman
The mere existence of Bruce’s kids could reveal not only his but all of their identities. So of course he’s going to hide their existence.

Might be a hot take but a major character’s death is really only as good as the weight and the treatment that the narrative gives it. Sure, any author has the ability to write death as they see fit. But whether the consumer (of any given form of media) is actually able to emotionally connect and resonate with the departure of someone who has occupied a good chunk of narrative space very heavily depends on how it’s treated within the story. If it’s a major character, the narrative needs enough built-in breathing space. As in, the consumer doesn’t have to fill in the blanks as to how the death impacted the plot or the remaining characters. Let the narrative do that for them, and that would actually allow the consumer to better react and relate to that major death (sadness, anger, joy, etc). Allow the rest of the characters (who were impacted by the deceased) to react to their parting. Let them engage with the death in a manner that helps justify the character’s inclusion in the narrative to begin with. Make it clear how the character’s life and (especially) their death relate to the larger themes of the story. Because most consumers aren’t stupid. We don’t want our hands held at every waking moment, but we also don’t want our investment in a story to be insulted just for the sake of a cheap shock. Give us time to breathe and grieve. And respect that we have put in a lot of emotional investment in a story and its characters, and we deserve to have that acknowledged.

your post made me curious so i checked wikipedia and brigham young married his MOTHERS IN LAW? how did mary ann angell not kill him?
okay the whole "mormon polygamist men married widows to protect them and financially support them" thing is sometimes overblown but i do think that brigham young's marriage to his elderly widowed mother-in-law was almost certainly a formality only and i doubt there was anything remotely non platonic going on there. that being said poor mary ann did have the patience of a saint.

Did you see the horrifying photos an alleged Montana woman took proudly showing off her skinned "wolf pup"? Spoiler alert, it's an effing sled dog, very obviously. Looks like the authorities will have her on incorrect permits at the very least, but why in the world does someone so inept at identifying wildlife have a gun or permits?! Some people are incredibly stupid - please drape yourselves and your pups in orange when in proximity to morons!
This is a sadly common story, even when dogs do not look wolfish at all and a large part of why I'm hesitant to let my dogs off leash in areas where hunting is allowed.
Frankly if you cannot correctly identify the wildlife you are hunting you should not be hunting in the first place. That goes for people mistaking coyotes as wolves and vice versa.

Man I want to reread Not a Catholic Thing again. I've already read it like 5 times in the last two months. It attracts my brain so much. Absolutely fascinated by it. Enthralled. And the author's Constantine fics. Absolutely feral about those 7 fics in particular. I mean I'm feral about a lot of fics on top but right now yeah

sometimes it's just kinda funny that like. I'm someone who's very passionate about looking at children's media from an academic standpoint and a "this is my job" standpoint and also from an "i never really aged out of enjoying this and that's fine!" standpoint, but also feeling the need to preface all this with "yes I enjoy kids cartoons! No not Like That!!"
bc of fear this hobby gets associated with the trend of like... adults starting nasty interpersonal discourse online over shows that are not even made for them :(
