When you had to wander around the ship without the comfort of having Brad nearby, a whole new kind of dread filled your body

Knowing that his hand won't be within the reach of yours whenever your chest tightens with fear made the whole experience even worse for you

Due to all the horrors you witnessed throughout the night when you finally saw the silhouette of what looked like Brad, you didn't know if you could trust your eyes despite desperately wanting to

You’re in an outer hallway of the ship when you spot the shadow at the end, staring right back at you

Your first instinct is to hide but you have no such place at a near reach so you stand there paralyzed, staring back at the silhouette you believe is playing a cruel prank on you by taking the form of Brad

And then it calls out to you

“Y/N? I-Is that you?“

You want to trust it, you want to believe the voice is his and not a result of the gas toying with your mind

That’s when you realize that your lungs no longer ache with each inhale of stale, mold-scented air

You’re breathing in fresh, saltwater tinted air

Your system is clearing itself out, the gas has no effect on you

Therefore, the slowly approaching figure ahead is not a hallucination

That realization is further confirmed when you run straight into the familiar embrace of his arms

“I’m so glad to see you. I-I imagined the worst...“

You let out a shaky sigh, bordering into a sob as you cling onto him as if onto dear life

“You have no idea.“ You say through a distressed yet releived chuckle

Suddenly, dawn didn’t seem so far away

With the exception of “Little Hope”, the stunt casting that Supermassive does for their Dark Pictures Anthology games is a bit...weird. “Little Hope” made sense when they casted Will Poulter as Anthony since Anthony was the main character. It’s Ashley Tisdale and Shawn Ashmore’s casting that feels a bit off since the characters they were playing were arguably the least important of the main cast. 

Conrad is easily the least important of the five protagonists in “Man of Medan”. He’s the one who can die first, he has the least amount of chapters, and is ultimately the most expendable since he fills in the role of “comic relief character who would die early on in a horror film”. 

Rachel King, aside from being tied with Eric as the least playable protagonist, has the character arc of deciding whether she’ll choose Eric or Nick, which is the least compelling of the subplots. Meanwhile, Eric has the guilt of being the one who brought the team to the temple, as well as the pressures of being team leader. Nick, aside from being the side guy, struggles with coming to terms with shooting an Iraqi civilian. In that sense, his arc is tied with Jason, the actual main protagonist.

In this context, it feels weird that Ashley Tisdale and Shawn Ashmore got cast in these roles. They’re the biggest name actors in their respective games, yet they’re playing characters that aren’t the main focus of the game. To keep in line with “Little Hope” having the most famous actor play the main protagonist, Fliss DuBois and Jason Kolchek should’ve been stunt-casted.

Staring at Brad with this dopey, lovey-dovey look on your face till he inevitably caught you in the act, meeting your gaze;

Blushing when the tables would turn and you’d catch him staring at you;

Fumble for words when trying to talk to him, your boastful confidence at the bottom of the ocean;

But, but, but! 

There were some positives to it that prevented it from being a pathetic middle school crush situation:

Hands slowly inching closer together till your fingers interlaced;

Soft gazes exchanged from across the deck;

Being there for him during his seasick periods with all their bad and ugly additions;

Him staying up to keep you company when sleep didn’t seem to catch up with your brain;

And inevitably falling asleep mid-convo;

In short, although not what you expected, you found yourself more than grateful to whatever deity pushed you into accepting the invitation

Cause man, your summer would’ve sucked if you hadn’t

Would’ve missed out on your happily ever after too, that’s for sure

You owe Conrad big time for the fact that you didn’t
