My random “Dark Pictures Anthology” hot takes:

1) The best to play solo is The Devil in Me due to its length and difficulty

2) The best to play as a duo is Little Hope since it’s too depressing to be a party game and you need a more “serious” mindset to really appreciate the game. So, the less people playing, the less likely the players will be goofing around.

3) The best to play with a group is House of Ashes since it’s the most survival horror-like and is arguably the most intense

4) Runner-up to what would be the best to play in a group is Man of Medan since it offers the most variation in the story, but is also goofy enough that the whole party can get a good laugh.

In horror movie terms, “House of Ashes” is what you put on when you and your friends want to watch something stressful. “Man of Medan” is what your group watches for bad movie night.

I'M A HUGE FAN OF THIS SERIES!!

I'd say Man Of Medan for me, it gave me Ghost Ship vibes which is one of my favorite horror flicks of the early 2000's.

Devil in me would be a close 2nd, really loved the saw like traps and the main villian of the story.

LEAST FAVORITE: little hope..the ending really turned me off!

House of ashes: Really didnt't do it for me..the atory and setting was boring.

Dark Pictures Anthology mega fanfic...?

If I were to write an "interactive" fanfiction that's basically a whole new Dark Pictures Anthology story where after every choice you move to a different chapter and every character can take different routes, how many chapters would that be?

I'd like it to be a lot less violent and instead the main path is more about romance. Like a "here are your 5 single characters! Ship them in any constellation you could want" sort of story, with the additional option for one path where you make them all hate each other.

The curator chapters could be generic enough that I don't have to write them all that differently other than the final one. So let's say we'd have one curator prologue, 6 intermissions and 15 endings.

But then there are so many option for chapters for the characters, right?? Every choice a different chapter, so I'd probably end up with 20 choices per person, but the choices also overlap where characters end up together.

Plus I'd like to reuse some of the character models, obviously, because we all love those models. I'd probably edit them slightly, but overall keep them similar enough. My editing skills aren't too crazy so I definitely cannot change them up completely.

Anyway would anyone be interested in this? Like, at all? I'd have to still write it in chapters, but then they'd be like "Chapter 1, choice 3, version 6" or something.
