I can't believe there are Buck stans out there who hate Maddie for leaving him?? Did y'all never watch the show or do you not understand how abuse works?? Maddie is someone who grew up with parents who were too busy grieving their dead child to love their remaining children. While Buck had his older sister looking out for him, she had no one until she met Doug. Doug was probably really nice to her at first. Maybe he was the first person to show Maddie the kind of love she always wanted. Maybe he was showing Maddie he was protecting her by keeping her away from the rest of the world. Like Eddie, Maddie was always the caretaker. She raised Buck and took care of her grieving mother. So when she found someone who was willing to take care of her, in his own fucked up way, she found herself drawn to him because she had never been shown any better love.
So of course she doesn't want to leave the one person who's willing to love her. That doesn't mean she doesn't love Buck. She loves him like her own son. She gave him her own jeep, essentially cutting off her own means to escape an abusive partner.
She was also a teenager who fell in love with the wrong person. She is not a villain, she is a victim.

everyone needs to stfu about shit we don’t even know is true. ‘proof’ can easily be photoshopped and people can be ‘exposed’ by people who just want fucking attention. stop with the rumors and the ‘oh i feel so bad’ because we don’t know shit about the situation. we don’t, we won’t, and we aren’t entitled to know anything. if you’re going to argue with me, don’t waste your fucking time. everyone just grow the fuck up. like how would you feel if your shit was constantly being talked about and rumors were constantly being spread and people took those rumors as the truth? if people wanted answers but you aren’t going to give them because the people wanting answers aren’t entitled to them? right. you’d fucking hate it. trust me, i’ve had rumors spread about me and my name has been dragged through the dirt. you. would. not. like. it.

Buddie 618 meta
Since this could have been the show finale, not just this season’s, I hope you allow me to do a small overview of the ep as a whole with this in mind.
Tumblr media
I’m gonna be honest, I want to send ABC a bouquet of flowers, because if this would have been the show’s last ep, it would have been an incredibly disappointing one. Not that it didn’t have merit. 911 has always been about the importance of the good that we do - for ourselves, for our loved ones and for strangers. That’s why the significance of this ep’s emergency was actually great. We got to see the 118 saving themselves, each other and be saved by a complete stranger, who wouldn’t have been there if it weren’t for the 118 saving him four seasons earlier. My issue with it is that it would have been better IMO to spread out this emergency over two eps, really give it room to resonate emotionally, in much the same way that Buck’s lightning strike did. That would have also left more airtime for the team’s personal lives to get closure.
Tumblr media
When looking at the personal resolution to the 118’s stories, I did like the return to Henren’s adoption via foster care storyline, it needed closure and I’m so happy this is the one it got. I have talked in more than one fandom about the importance of showing how same sex couples ACTUALLY go about becoming parents, so I think this is extra significant. I can’t wait to see this not just being a wink at the end of a show finale, but an actually developed storyline in s7. I also think “Here’s to more chaos and more love” is my fave line in this ep and a perfect summary of the best of 911. I also loved Bathena getting to go on their honeymoon, getting to live carefree for a moment. They absolutely deserve this, and it felt even better thanks to being a callback moment. I also enjoyed seeing Madney seal the details of their wedding. I have loved and enjoyed them since Maddie called Chim cute in 206, they deserve all the happiness and joy, and to me, having to see her twice this season bracing herself for the possibility of losing Buck and / or Chim (in 611 and now) made it even more meaningful to see Madney happy by the end of the ep. Again, I can’t wait to see the actual wedding in s7. It’s gonna melt all of our hearts. Still, all of these resolutions felt a bit rushed and I believe they could have had more of an impact if they were more than blink and you miss it moments during the final montage.
Tumblr media
But if those felt underdeveloped, that’s nothing in comparison with Buck and Eddie’s personal lives’ resolutions. Was 911 really going to leave them with the “endgame” of women who literally only showed up as Love Interests in the last couple of eps of the show? If I weren’t a part of fandom, as a casual viewer, I would sincerely not have even remembered Marisol from her emergency, so I would have been confused by her and Eddie’s conversation. In fact, I found it funny that when Eddie wants to text her, it’s presented as a disruption to Bobby’s talk, just like Buck’s call with Kameron. I also thought it was wild that we discover Marisol and Eddie exchanged numbers, because that most certainly wasn’t even hinted at during 617. We clearly saw him walking away, they exchanged a last look, and that was it. Eddie and Marisol are so underdeveloped, we don’t even know how they happened! Did Marisol rush after Eddie? Did he come back to ask her for her number? Did they both decide to take the leap? How did the conversation go? Why was their phone call in 618 so awkward if they had already made their intentions clear when they exchanged numbers? We have zero answers to these questions. This was so forced, so unearned, so underdeveloped, it makes it painfully obvious that it was done just to not leave Eddie heterosexually single. Because I’m sorry, homosubtextually, he’s been married for years.
Tumblr media
Which brings me to Buck and Natalia. I gotta roll my eyes at my own 615 meta, where I talked about the meaning of her name connecting her to birth, now we literally had her at the birth of Buck’s bio kid. What a piece of ironic foreshadowing. And yet, despite Natalia being a bit more developed than Marisol, despite the fact that Buck had what was maybe the most invested in personal resolution in the finale, it was still a let down for me. We have mostly seen why Natalia doesn’t suit him in eps 615 and 617. She did come back in the finale, but then so did Taylor in 414. That doesn’t mean either woman fits Buck as a partner. I’m left with the uneasy feeling that we have here a rerun of that s4 finale in terms of the ep shoving both men into relationships with underdeveloped LIs. TBH, the juxtaposition makes 618 worse IMO. Because the comparison with Marisol and Natalia actually makes Ana and Taylor look slightly more invested in! That says a lot about how little 911 cares about the 618 LIs. But it also gives me this bad sense of stepping in place with Buck and Eddie in terms of their romantic development. For example, the fact that Buck ends up tying yet another one of his couches to yet another gf at a way too early stage of their r/s (too much time couldn’t have passed between Kameron giving birth, ruining Buck’s couch, and his conversation about getting a couch together with Natalia since he was just getting around to having the old one looked at to see if it could be saved. He’s once again rushing into commitment with a girl he doesn’t yet know well enough, and who we saw in 615 he was idolizing as truly seeing him, when the truth was very different or she wouldn’t have run out on him in 617. I also can’t tell you why Natalia came back based on the few interactions we’ve seen between them, we haven’t had a single meaningful moment between them so far to explain it, making it clear he’s going in circles. I do suspect Buck doesn’t realize this is him repeating past mistakes, he thinks this is progress given his ability to let go of the baby, which could be an interesting angle to explore in s7. But probably what makes giving Buddie rushed heterosexual “endgame” LIs worse is that every bit of development either man made that isn’t about their love life got sidelined in this ep...
Tumblr media
I think in a sense, the underdevelopment of all of Buck and Eddie’s LIs, even the “endgame” ones in what could have been the show’s finale, might actually be a testament to the power of Buddie. If a showrunner knows they could never hope to develop any LI to have with either Buck or Eddie even a tenth of what they have with each other, that can explain not even trying. In fact, we got a reminder of the strong bond between these two men during the call. Buck saved Eddie, just as Eddie saved Buck during the lightning strike. The way they looked at each other, the zoom in on their hands grasping one another, was very emotionally poignant exactly because we have seen these two losing their whole damn minds trying to save the other man on more than one occasion. And Buck used the words “I got you,” a reminder that they will ALWAYS have each other’s back, on and off the field.
Tumblr media
The good news is that ABC has a chance to correct the course of where this finale left off. I do believe the move is being done knowing they would have to rejuvenate 911 if they want it to fare better than on Fox, and I think that giving Buddie the room to become canon would be exactly that. But I have said in more than one of my ask replies that to me, no matter what, this show has been telling the epic love story of Buck and Eddie, with the little family they built. Whether TPTB go through with that canonically or not, this is what they gave us. And nothing will take that away from me. If 911 ends with Buddie being single, I’ll just assume their feelings realization and confessions happen after the end of the show. If 911 ends with “endgame” heterosexual LIs, I’ll just know that those couples eventually break up at some point during the 118’s post-show future, and then Buddie finally get together. Because that’s the story we got over the course of the last 5 seasons, one that only has a single possible resolution, whether the show itself gives it to us or whether it forces us to have to imagine and write it down in fix-it fics ourselves. We ALL know what we saw. We ALL get what Buddie have. We ALL see how that inevitably would lead to them getting together sooner or later, and if it doesn’t happen during the show, then later it is, but it WILL happen. That’s how I look at the show, and that’s why even if this were the last ep of it, it still wouldn’t have destroyed Buddie for me. I hope this POV can help others, too.
~~ I’m gonna be here during the hiatus, if anyone wants to be here with me. Thank you so much to all of you who made s6 a lovelier ride by taking it with me! I’m endlessly grateful for every single one of you. xoxox

Here's the thing, I have nothing against Lou/Tommy, but the accessive enthusiasm of him returning and everyone already talking about him showing up for next season,
Which if any of you watched for the last 7 seasons, it is very possible because writers love to drag temps over to the next seasons because apparently breakups are for season beginners, mostly (except for taylor),
is very off-putting.
1. Because the dude literally just showed up and they haven't even had one worthy make out session to even call it a situationship.
2. Buck hurt Eddie physically to get into Tommy's mouth and pants, which ruined it for me from the start tbh and Tommy had nothing to do with it, he was just there.
3. Buck has made Maddie's day, his coming out party - that is a big NO in my book. Because one, dude you literally came out, what if you decide eventually that you don't want this or don't want this with this specific first-guy-ever anymore? And two SHE IS YOUR SISTER THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS HAVE HER LEAVE ON HER HONEYMOON BEFORE YOU KILL YOUR PARENTS OF A HEART- ATTACK.
Even if they "seem accepting" to Buck’s face, this takes time to process, something better revealed in time and in private, once one is sure. Not thinking and talking about this the whole wedding!
And yes, I know, Buck is impulsive, but think for a second, would you want your baby brother to hijacke your wedding after so long of planning it? I know I would have killed him.
Would have told him in advance that if he's bringing his new boyfriend to my wedding, he better tell our parents first. Because this is my fucking day!
I love Buck, but his self-centered personality rubs me the wrong way this season.
Maybe because I wanted to see him growing the fuck up after 7 years and so many traumas and experiences and therapy that he went through, but nope, same old Buck, only instead of the dating the girl who gave him attention, he's seeing the guy who gave him attention.
It's annoying, it's off putting and frankly I am so mad at the writers and Tim for this because these characters deserved better.
And don't talk to me about representation because Shonda did the bi representation in Station 19 perfectly to the point that I was bummed that Travis and Eli didn't end up as endgame even though I loved Emmett with Travis.
Again somehow the 911 writers managed to taint for me what should have been and amazing experience, independent completely of buddie, but no they managed to not only mix Eddie and Buck with Tommy, the whole thing came at the expense of Eddie, physically and mentally, because not only did Buck not apologized to Eddie, Eddie also lost his new friend who now fawns over Buck.
So screw this storyline, I hate it and I hate how everyone is OK with everything that happened in the story, just because Buck is doing a dude(kissing really, there was no doing yet).
There's a lot of blocking in my future, most are just ppl who either came in now because of bi Buck or those who came from other disappointing fandoms and are just here for the rep not the actual story.
But some of us have been here since S1, we want the rep, but we want it to be complimenting, we want to fall in love with the character before it turns into a LI, we want the emotion, the connection, the obvious love building over several years.
Like Casey and Gabby and Severide and Stella, like Maya and Carina, like Travis and Emmett (even though I liked Eli better for him) like Sullivan and Natasha.
I want an emotional payout, give up the surprises, and the wrecked trucks and ships, just tell a good story!
And for the love of all that's holy, enough with the last-minute changes, those never turn out well in the long run. They literally started from scratch when they made the switch between Eddie and Buck.
Also in my opinion, Eddie had a LOT more chemistry with Lou/Tommy than Buck. It would have made so much more sense, in the catholic guilt and internal homophobia department, the nun and supposedly commitment issues was weak at best.
It could have been epic. 😩
And yes, Buck could have started the season single, no harm in that, maybe make him, I don't know, actually growing into something that he would like without someone else to pet his ego? Go back to therapy, work for the LT. exams, be interim captain, realize his worth and learn to love himself for him, not because someone else gave him attention and that made him preen, get him somewhere worthy. Even lessons with Tommy without involving Eddie in this would have been great.
Just something that shows character development, because up until now all I get is S2/S3 Buck and I've seen that movie before, I want my money back.
I realize this is harsh, and normally, I would stick to the light and fun and ignore the rest, but this had to be said out loud so I can go back to that.
That being said, as I said, I will watch Madney wedding purely for Madney. Anything else is just a bonus. I can't wait for that bachelor party and see wth happens to Chimney.
Happy Monday, my loves. ❤️

I think your takes about 9-1–1 have been very nuanced and speak to your love for the show so I while I might have some differences in opinion, I really look forward to your thoughts and thank you for sharing with us your joy and passion.
I have really grown to love all the characters and their stories throughout the years. I have no idea where the plot is going but I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing how much love people have for this show, the characters and the cast.
I know it can be really messy at times but I’m excited for where the show is going.
I was curious about your thoughts on how the show handles growth and flaws because I really like how complex each of the characters are and that’s one of the main selling points for me to continue watching so I would love to hear what you think :)
also if you have any recommendations for other shows to watch I would love to hear those as well :)
okay, first of all you are so so kind, it made my chin wobble a little bit 🥹
and I love your attitude, because yeah, we don't have to have the same opinions on anything, especially not in fandom, but you know, having fun and throwing stuff at the wall without trying to spit into each other's soup? that's what it's all about.
I'm gonna cut this in half because I went into ramble mode oops
when it comes to growth and being flawed. GOD YES. this is the reason I love this show, possibly more than I have ever loved any other.
for one, it doesn't tone it down, it doesn't leave a grey area of "was that really abuse?" "was that really neglect?" "was that invasive?" "was that really cheating?" because it was. the mistake and the flaw is always clear from the get go.
Hen cheating on Karen, Chimney lying to Tatiana, Maddie stalking that woman, Buck cheating on Taylor, Bobby being an addict, Athena killing people, Eddie enlisting, Shannon leaving to care for her mother, the Buckley parents lying to Buck and neglecting their children. all of that and more.
I was kind of surprised when I first started watching it that we had people cheating and leaving their children and killing people. that was just not the general vibe I was expecting after coming into it, thinking it'd be just some dramedy type firefighter procedural lmao
instead, I was hit with all the main characters lying, cheating, abusing their positions, being addicts and so on and then we got to see them for who they all were beyond that; heroes, people who risk their lives every day to help others.
the way the show portrays characters in such a human way, instead of saying "this character is bad" or "this character is good"; they are all just people trying their best and often times failing miserably.
I don't wanna make this too long, but the theme of cheating and parents abandoning their children (either physically or emotionally) is very rampant on the show — and so is forgivness. so far no character has cheated without being caught out for it and also being forgiven, and no parent has lost the right for redemption.
sure, I am less than pleased about Chim's dad and the Buckley parents... but if their kids are willing to let them be part of their lives and allow them room to grow and repent? then that's actually part of their growth as well.
Eddie and Shannon and Maddie, they have all left their kids out of fear of doing wrong by them or out of duty for another family member in Shannon's case; they all came back and worked hard every day to be the parents their kids deserved.
this is not something you see on other TV shows. if a parent leaves and comes back, there is a flare up of emotions and then a reconciliation in the same episode and then we move on, not to mention these are usually all adult children of the parents and there is no significant other in the picture complicating things further.
my point is; they are all so, so messy and flawed and they are all trying to do better (most of them anyway) and this is the human condition and it gets rough and ugly sometimes, but I think this show captures that better than any other, while also giving us the whole spectrum of emotions.
and while they all get a chance (or more) to better themselves and earn forgivness from the people they hurt; we see the hurt live on. Karen is still insecure about Hen cheating years ago, Bobby still struggles not to have a drink to this day, Eddie forgave Shannon the best he could but he never got closure and he never learned to trust that he's enough and Amir doesn't want revenge, but can't quite forgive Bobby either. the hurt never goes away no matter what and the work on themselves continues.
I could really go on forever, so I'm just gonna stop here lmao
on recommendations though; I don't watch too many new things cuz I either get sucked in or totally bored BUT following the theme of being flawed and growing, my absolute main recommendations would be Scrubs and Daredevil the netflix series (though mind you, neither of these have an active fandom atm)
and then if you like that sort of thing It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia; but that one is about flawed people who will never get better and are doomed to be trash and toxic and codependent for the rest of their lives — and it covers some real problematic topics, not always in the best way though (that being said, the actors/writers are pretty socially sensitive and everything problematic is in there because it is problematic)
thank you for this ask, it made my day, truly 💛✨

20 questions for fic writers
tagged by @viola-ophelia <3 Thank you!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 58 on my primary page, 38 on my trash page, and 5 on my catch-all.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? LOL if you think I'm going to add up the word count of 101 total fics, you're crazy! So instead, I'll just say my longest fic on my primary page is 96,771, my trash page is 34,787, and my catch-all is 11,722, for a total of 143,280. So with that being for just three fics, I shudder to think what my actual word count is for 101 fics lol.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Lately, TURN: Washington's Spies, though past fandoms have been H.annibal, E.mma 2020, and The M.agicians, to name a few.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? I'm just going to stick to my main page for this:
Wake-up Call (From D.usk till D.awn: the Series) (438)
Changing Winds (S.tranger T.hings) (384)
Lost in the Dark (S.tranger Things) (284)
Anyone But You (That 70s Show) (265)
To Thaw and Burst into Bloom (S.tranger Things) (235)
^^The funny thing is, none of these were fandoms I was overly into/participated in much, but they're way more popular than my favored fandoms, which is why none of what I'm TRULY proud of is listed in my top kudos ranking. Ah well.
5. Do you respond to comments? I do! In the past, I've always made friends through reviews/reviewing, so I always respond to comments and leave comments on works I've enjoyed. :) I really wish engagement/fic friendships were more encouraged these days.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Uhh, probably Folie a Deux (H.annibal) or To K.iss, to Consume (Turn). OH, and Let the Weary Rest (Turn), where I killed off Ben lol.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? After 2020, pretty much all of my fics had happy endings. The World is Made Wrong made me happiest though, I'd say.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I'd rather not jinx myself, but I haven't since I was a kiddo! And that hate was deserved tbh, cuz they were just telling me I wrote xyz wrong since I was a child/didn't bother to research.
9. Do you write s.mut? *gestures vaguely at my trash page* Uh. Yeah. lol I don't really have a specific type I write, beyond M/F, if that's what you're asking -- the specific scenarios are typically a case-by-case basis.
10. Do you write crossovers? I used to write quite a few! Nowadays, I save that more for things like RP and edits, though I do still enjoy them. Sometimes, crossovers work better than canon, I said what I said.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have! But I was like 13 at the time, and the person posted it in the same ship/fandom, so Idk what their plan was lol. Fortunately, they deleted it the day I reviewed.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! A few times, actually (all for the H.annibal fandom).
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Sure have! They're all RP-turned-fics though, cuz I've never actually asked someone to write something who wasn't an RPer themselves.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Probably David/Maddie from Moonlighting. They're timeless! <3
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I suppose my time travel romcom. It's basically me rewriting a book I've already created, but altering it for the Turn universe. Even though it's fun, it's kind of boring repurposing my old work, and most especially when there's so little engagement. I flourish on comments, alas. Other than that, I mostly tend to finish my works!
16. What are your writing strengths? An editor once told me my strengths are my dialogue and humor. She equated the first 20 pages of my book (a recent work) to a Shakespearean comedy, which really tickled me, ngl.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? World-building! I've improved with this by a lot, but I genuinely do think fic writers are conditioned to stop describing settings/appearance thanks to our audiences already KNOWING, and thus, our OG works suffer for it. Mine certainly do!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I wouldn't do it personally, since I doubt it'd translate well, but I encourage others to do it! I'll still read!
19. First fandom you wrote for? C.owboy B.ebop.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Probably The World is Made Wrong, since I've since reworked it and I'm still very proud of how that second run-through turned out (not the one available on AO3 -- that version is in all its heinous first draft glory lol).
Tagging: @retrograderesemblance @pagetreader @ms-march @culper-spymaster and whoever else wants to!

Seasonal Vibes Meme
So, saw a prompt on twitter about what seasonal vibes a character/ship gives off, so I think it'd be a fun question for here and a good writing exercise:
What seasonal vibes does your OC / squish / ship give off? Are they like spring or winter? Can also include not so traditionally thought of seasons, like the rainy season, harvest season, winter/spring thaw, a local holiday season, bug season, etc.
For those that wanna do this too, you can do your OC (fandom or original), or even just your favorite fictional squish at the moment.
For those that wanna do ships, sky's also the limit. MC x canon, OC x canon, canon x canon, selfship x canon, romantic or platonic, doesn't matter, just whatever the seasonal vibe is with a lil blerb as to why that is.
No pressure tagging: @lorei-writes, @kissmetwicekissmedeadly, @scummy-writes, @honeybyte, @batteryrose, @drachonia, @limonzu, @tsundere-mitsuhide, and anyone else that's wants to play.
-----
Houki/Mitsunari (IkeSen): Spring, Sweet blossoming beginnings. Both are discovering new things around them (Houki quite literally as she's from a different world all together, Mitsunari learning about love and confidence) and while there may be storms along the way, they help each other blossom into themselves.
(plus it doesn't help that @beni-draw-ikemen-please drew them surrounded by cherry blossoms a while back, so I'll always think of them with the springtime vibes)
---
Ophelia/Kennyo (IkeSen): Late Winter/Early Spring Thaw. Times of deep turmoil coming to an end so that something new and wonderful can grow. They both have troubling things happen to them in the past, but as time passes, they learn to grow as people and to put the harsh times behind them so they can have hope for the future.
---
Thea/Theo/Arthur (IkeVamp): Summer. Time of high heat and fun adventures. They bicker and tease each other a lot of the time, but they never turn down having an adventure together. Whether that adventure consists of solving some small mystery in town, walking hand in hand in hand through an art gallery they helped set up together, or challenging each other in cards or arm wrestling in the gaming room, they never forget that doing it together is the best part of any adventure.
---
Abby/Vincent (IkeVamp): Autumn. Change and reflection on the times of the past. Abby goes through a lot changes in her life, Vincent being present for a lot of her later changes, sometimes even triggering them himself. But he always wants to be a part of her life, especially after he lost her the first time, putting a change in him that rippled across all the lives they had connected with before.
---
Maddie/Harr (IkeRev): Early Summer. Not as young as they used to be to be like spring, but still want to have the fun they had/didn't have in their youths. Harr is a hardened academic at his core and Maddie is discovering magic for the first time, three decades into her life. They have insatiable curiosity despite not being spring chickens anymore. Their lives are shaped by their pasts yet they still want to explore the world and discover more of its mysteries and wonders.
---
Clara/Nokto (IkePri): Rainy Season. The sun after the rain is much more beautiful than the sun before the rain. At first, Clara hated Nokto. She hated him for taking advantage of her and for putting her in situations she felt she had no business being a part of. However, once his masks were washed away, as it were, she saw who he was underneath. How much this man actually cared, about the kingdom and about her despite his wicked ways. How tightly he held her when he opened up about his insecurities, about how much better everyone else was compared to the jester he made himself out to be. How he didn't deserve the ray of sunshine she was, how jealous he was about her open and honest ways. How much he wished he could be like her. And once the rain stopped and the sun came out again, they found the other much more beautiful drenched but smiling. That though they went through some hard times, they still came through the storms to see light again.
---
Miri (Obey Me): Spring, She doesn’t have a set suitor yet, but the ones that I have romantically shipped her with (and with all her platonic ships too), she has the aura of spring: sweet, innocent, blossoming love, sometimes a little unpredictable in the newness of everything. She wants to be kind to everyone, even if it sometimes is a detriment to herself. She wants to do right by the three realms, even if that sentiment maybe a little naïve compared to others who have lived through harder times than she has. Yet her newness and fresh outlook has changed some of even the toughest of opponents and has helped heal and soothe even the bloodiest wounds of the past. She's bringing about positive change in a world that doesn't want change but desperately needs it.

Hi
So while procrastinating writing the fic I'm working on, I decided it was time for me to read the Royal Ranger. I only have book one, and I've had it for about a year now, but I never read even the first page. I've heard stuff throughout the fandom about it, but I've tried to stay away from royal ranger specific posts in order to not spoil the book for me.
If you also haven't read it yet and want to avoid spoilers, stop reading now. You've been warned.
Here's the things I knew before reading:
Will has a beard now. This is very controversial.
Alyss dies. She was burned to death. Also very controversial.
Horace and Cassie have a daughter named Maddie. Maddie becomes Will's apprentice.
And that's about it.
I decided that since the Royal Ranger was so hit or miss for the community, I'd document my thoughts on it (as a personal record, if you will) and see how my opinions change, if they change at all. Feel free to laugh at me if I make predictions and they end up being completely wrong lol
I've read the first seven chapters, and here are the main thoughts I have right now.
1. Is Will now just Halt? When he was first being described during the scene with Henry Wheeler, I dead ass thought Flanagan was talking about Halt. I mean, Will is grey already? Like, fully grey. He's described as having a "steel-grey beard." Not grey and brown, just grey. Halt???
2. Alyss' death fit her character well, but why did she have to die? Keep in mind, I was never the biggest fan of Alyss - I thought a character as interesting as a diplomat should have more personality than just "the main character's girlfriend" - but come on? We barely got to see them married. Idk man. I feel like her death would be better justified if they had actually like. been together longer? 10/10 for writing her death though, saving a poor child from death seems really in character for her, especially considering that's pretty much what Baron Arald did for the ward kids (he didn't die for it but still, he saved them from a childhood of neglect and almost certain death). I feel like it's a great wrap to her story, although I wish her story was longer.
3. Crowley was done dirty. What the actual f u c k Flanagan? The Corps Commander, the man, myth, and legend gets a paragraph to explain his death. It's such a lamely written death too? Crowley, a ranger, who was probably in peak health, just nopes out one night. At least he was smiling..? And maybe it's the fact that TEY is my favorite part of the series so far, but Crowley deserved way better than that shit. Also I'm surprised that I managed to not know about Crowley's death before this?? I actually cried reading it. He was such a precious little man in TEY, how could you do this Flanagan???
4. Maddie is a bit of a brat. Not even a bit, she kinda just is. To be fair, Cassie was that way sometimes as well, but Maddie just seems... I don't know, too much of a 'I-do-what-I-want-and-you-can't-stop-me' kinda person, but in a bad way??? Like that one kid in school who would never listen to authority figures and got everyone in trouble all the time? I hope she mellows out because she could be a great character, I think. It's said she takes after her mom, but I'd like to see her act like Horace too.
5. Gilan. Just Gilan. What?? I never liked his relationship with Jenny much, he seems quite a bit too old for her (at least 5 years, most likely quite a bit more since Halt had a few years between Gilan and Will), but he's so relentless in asking her to marry him? Huh??
And also, BOLD of Flanagan to assume Gilan would be hesitant about letting a girl into the corps. This man has traveled with Cassie. He's traveled with Lydia from Brotherband. He knows women are capable. I mentioned not liking his and Jenny's relationship, but like. he even respects her. She's a business woman, she owns her own restaurant. No one can possibly convince me that Gilan doesn't drink his respect-women juice DAILY. It feels out of character for him.
6. Poor Duncan. That's the end of the sentence.
7. Those guards are hysterical. Ah, yes, let's just casually not mention or try to stop the princess sneaking in and out of the castle even though this could end really really badly. Perfect logic.
And yeah that's all I got right now. I'm very excited to see how my opinions so far change! I'll document them here too in case anyone cares. Feel free to reblog with your own RR opinions and the like! I'd love to see what you guys think of my takes lol

The 118, weddings, and curses
I know this post is about to ruffle some feathers. I've seen a lot of takes that I really don't like in the last 24 hours on here, though, and I just need to point out something.
As usual, if you read this as character bashing, it's not. I adore these characters. I just also have a lot of opinions. You don't have to read my posts if you don't like them.
To start this off succinctly: the 118's A-Shift is cursed.
Now, to go into this thought process: we do see glimpses of other shifts and other houses in the show. Not much, but enough to get a general feel that things with them and things with the team we follow in the show is different. 118's B-shift with Captain Mehta doesn't seem to experience the same level of life-threatening events. We see a decent amount that suggests that - his reaction at the shooting being confusion first and then reactionary, the fact that Ravi always looks wildly lost when working with A-shift after a stint working with B-shift. Even the few people we've seen fro Harbor this season seem to have it a hell of a lot calmer.
This curse does, unfortunately, extend to the extended families of the team. And it does play a big role in a lot of the major life events.
Now, for the real reason I'm posting this. I've seen a lot of takes in the last 24 hours being upset that a lack of communication on the production team's end meant that content was cut from the new episode - this isn't new. Every episode certainly has scenes that got redone or cut, it's just how the film industry works. That said, I've also seen a lot of "Madney deserve a proper wedding" comments circling.
While yes, I agree that not getting to see such a beautiful thing in full sucks, weddings take HOURS by themselves. And a wedding isn't big enough for two episodes, I'm sorry. Especially because it being chaotic and rushed is a theme with the 118. That curse that I keep saying they have? Yeah, it definitely does show up on events like this. It's MEANT to.
We all joke, as a fandom, that the 118 experiences the highest number of near-death experiences in LA. So why are we ever so surprised that it follows the team? Because you don't get to just hang that stuff up when you clock out as a first responder, stuff like that DOES follow you.
So sure, it sucks that the curse shows up for weddings and makes things a little less neat. But nothing in Maddie and Chimney's story has been neat, their wedding going smoothly and running the course of an entire episode wouldn't make sense for them. I think it makes perfect sense for the wedding to feel a little rushed, a little urgent - because that's the story of their entire relationship. It doesn't make it any less special. It doesn't make Maddie's dress any less gorgeous, it doesn't make their love for one another any less.
For better or for worse, that's what the vows are in a marriage. And these guys work in a career where there's a hell of a lot of for worse - just being able to get married is a pretty good thing. And if that rush was good enough for Bobby and Athena, or Hen and Karen, why are we throwing such a fit as a fandom about it for Maddie and Chimney? Especially when you know damn well that they'll do a vow renewal down the line that's going to be SO much more beautiful than the wedding itself because they'll manage it better now that they know how?
Regardless of what comes of the new episode, I'm thrilled to know that Maddie and Chimney get their happily ever after wedding. And you know what, I'm even MORE thrilled that it's a true-to-fashion 118 wedding. We've needed one.
And I think Oliver said it best already: if you don't like the stories being told this season, you're not required to announce your departure.
Some of us are just happy to see what stories we get with characters we love.

I gotta say, I think people’s hate towards the Buckley’s comes from their infantilization of Buck and how they want him to live his life. Like you said, they don’t carry that energy with Maddie and The Buckley’s and whenever we see progress, they see it has some implicit dig with a hidden agenda ready to fire.
Mhmmm. As much as this fandom wants to act like they are not *also* guilty of babying Buck, it says something that they stay fixated on the "defective parts" of the backstory. If the Buckleys biggest issue was their resentment over Buck's "failure" to help his brother, Maddie would have a much different relationship with her parents because she is the outlier in the equation. But by neglecting Maddie just the same as they did Buck, they're showing us that the grief of losing a son negatively impacted their ability to be the parent EITHER of their kids deserved. They were so consumed by what they lost that they forgot to appreciate what they still had. And Maddie, to her credit, got that! She could rationalize their behavior because she knew what they were like before Daniel got sick and eventually died. She saw what that life-altering moment in time did to her parents for the worse. Speaking as a child raised by grieving parents myself, you can't do anything but tell yourself there is no right or wrong way to react because it didn't happen to you, you have no idea how that might feel. Does it absolve them of wrongdoing? Nope. It simply means that you're willing to admit you aren't the "better person" for not experiencing grief in the same way. (I grieve my sister every damn day, but I know it's not the same as how my parents handle the situation because sister and daughter are two different dynamics.) To me, this story line is such a nonissue in the long run, which is the weirdest part about the pushback. Buck and Maddie choosing to "forgive" their parents means NOTHING other than they don't want to be weighed down by that pain anymore. They want to LIVE. They want to allow themselves to be HAPPY. Letting go of the past is always, always part of that process. It's for *their* benefit, not the parents'.

Okay I have had a minute to sit with it, to read, to think my thoughts and:
yes, I understand the frustration with Buck hurting Eddie and the preemptive frustration with the fandom for treating Chimney and Eddie’s anger differently. However, I think through Maddie and Buck, and Buck and Tommy’s discussions we see a lot of really important and key insights from Buck that signal that an apology is coming and that he wants to work on himself and move through this (not that this is excusing his behavior in the slightest, believe me I am an Eddie girl through and through, and he deserves to be mad!! But I also think that he doesn’t think that Buck did it on purpose) anywho:
with regards to Maddie:
the whole part of the discussion wherein he says that he’s not sure whether he meant to hurt Eddie or not
“then don’t act like (a fourteen year old girl)”
Buck recognizes that his behavior is petty and jealous and immature of him. He discusses it with Maddie and I think seeing her fear about him hurting people he loves will really affect him
with regards to Tommy:
“You two did nothing wrong”
“no bad blood, just bad behavior. All on my part”
“Yeah, I think that’s my problem (when things aren’t about me)”
“there are better ways to get someone’s attention”
he recognizes his behavior, he owns up to the fact that what he was doing was wrong. He even reiterates that Tommy and Eddie hanging out is a good thing and makes sense for both parties
all this to say, try to have faith (even when it’s hard). I’m really hoping that we see Buck’s apology on screen and that it isn’t referenced offscreen

Yoooo another banger episode! Hot dang this feels great, y’all. ✌️ I’m really impressed with their balance of dramatic/emotional scenes with comedic scenes in this episode. It was so fast paced, but somehow they got everything in. Once again seeing the connection of the 118 is all I want. ❤️ That’s a team and a family. This was Athena, Bobby’s, and Hen’s episode.
Now my initial Spoiler Thoughts for 7x3:
Bobby is a badass! Hahaha Athena saying she wishes Buck could see Bobby do the rescue, and Bobby wishing he’d seen Buck do it instead.
Wes! My man!! So good under pressure helping Bobby and rescuing Norman. And then… yeah I cried when Wes died. What didn’t help was him telling his captain to tell his wife and kid he loves them. =(((((( Another lovely touch was Bobby holding Wes’s hand before he had to leave.
Corey’s family is like Home Alone with Kevin being left. Twice. I enjoyed the chaotic comedy the family gave though.
Norman believes in Bobby. <333 Norman is such a great hype man for Bobby and Wes, but he’s also a bit of a savage with Lola. Well deserved.
Huh, Tommy ready and willing to help people he knew from the 118 to uh, go above board? Well to do a rescue that wasn't sanctioned or whatever the term is. Nice. He’s got a sense of humor too, which I certainly appreciate.
“I think this is an open channel.” himbo Buck 😆
Loved the comedy in the helicopter both times. Honestly great comedic timing from everyone.
I like that Eddie will have a better memory now in association with helicopters.
Really impressed with the balance of heavier moments with lighter moments, as I said in the non spoiler part, but it’s true.
Dude I was getting misty eyed when the chopper was coming down because they saw the flare. Wtf. 🥲
"Need a lift?" Eddie and Buck saving Bobby and Corey! <333
Don’t think I didn’t miss the blocking on that rescue ship. Buck and Eddie standing next to each other, then Tommy being in the middle. Then Buck doing a “thank you for the help” shoulder grab. People can interpret that however they please, but it really did just look like grateful thanks from Buck to Tommy. And btw, I’m not opposed to Buck and Tommy possibly being romantically involved for a time. Like, I don’t feel strongly about Tommy one way or the other right now, but he seems like a decent dude I guess. While I’m still hoping for a Buck and Eddie endgame, it’s perfectly okay and fine if Buck dates other guys before dating Eddie. That’s life, yeah? (...although I am wondering if Buck will still have a bi awakening, but may not date someone. like. i really don't know, but who knows? maybe Buck and Eddie will still be the first guys they're with. we'll have to wait and see.)
And Lola is back to jail? Prison?? Probably prison this time. I did appreciate that she owned up to her big mistakes and apologized to Norman.
The Bobby and Athena reunion hug? That was sweet.
Oh so Hen will not get in trouble. I still feel like she’s going on some kinda arc this season, something to deal with… maybe some biases and how she makes calls? Someone else may have phrased this better than me. In any case, I’m curious where it’s all going for her.
Yay more Hen and Maddie scenes! Heh, and Hen thanking Maddie for - I can’t remember the phrasing now, but basically for being a gossip with Chimney haha.
Athena and Bobby just. laughing at the stress of it all once back home, then…. *sexy music starts playing* 👀 Heyyyyyy. 🤙
Oh! Before I forget. Once again Buck and Eddie were, I think, in every scene together. Never separated. Others in fandom have spotted this *gestures* thing going on this season so far. Any scene Buck is in? Eddie is with him. 👀 Okay. 👀 👀
Another really fun episode. Again I was so happy to see our 118 family talking/calling/communicating with each other. That’s when this show is strongest, when they’re together and not separated *cough* unlike in season 6 and some of season 5 *cough*. Anyway!
Hm, I do think this 3 episode story could’ve been 4 episodes if they had a longer season. But given the time constraint, I think they did a great job. =))

I am stoked to wish @thebooktopus a very happy birthday with a nameplate and a rec list! Maddy deserves all the love in the world for being such an amazing person who lifts others up. It must have been late last year/early this year when I started seeing her pop in regularly via various Discord servers (and she also mods a few too!). When @anaxandria-writes recced a Maddy fic and invited her to the Wizarding Creators Den (where we were getting hyped about said fic being complete), I was super excited! Once Maddy and I got to know each other and realised we both loved Drarry AND so many rare pairs, the rest was history. Let’s be honest: Maddy is a true sport when it comes to cheerleading and supporting so many people. She’s sweet, passionate and easy-going as an alpha and a beta. Right off the bat, you can tell Maddy loves stories and ideas, and she wants to help fellow creators out. She’s engaged, and since she’s an avid reader of many things, that offers a wonder opportunity for new, beautiful friendships to form. If you want someone to scream about your work (WIP or finished), Maddy is your person! Her insights on everything are also optimistic and heartfelt. It’s all in the comments she leaves for people. She’s thoughtful in what she says, and you can feel the appreciation and enthusiasm she has for each work she reads/views. I'm sure folks who have gotten comments and tags from her know what I’m talking about. Her words truly mean a lot. Can we talk about Maddy’s gorgeous recs? YES, because there are sooo many good ones! These always brighten up my day when I see them on my dashboard. Her recs have been one way I’ve been able to find, read and add fics to my TBR list. I also think Maddy has a special superpower to read and absorb all the things, because the time and effort it takes to keep up and make monthly recs is impressive and labour-intensive. She’s currently killing it with Game of Drarry fic recs right now, and you can see ALL of her recs here. ALSO, her Mutuals March project. OMG. Maddy was a gem to go through so many creators’ works to shine a spotlight on each one of them. This must have been a beast of a project to take on, yet what a delight was it to see so many works I haven’t seen before! I thought it was a brilliant project when I first heard about, and little did I know that Maddy would surprise me by going through my works, showering them with comments AND giving me my own post. I have never had anyone do that for me before, and this just shows how kind Maddy is to make people feel like their work matters to fandom. Since then, Maddy has become one of my regular supporters, and I’m grateful and lucky to call her a friend. While I’ve been challenging myself to make and approach new projects in different ways (whether it be ships, mediums, formats, or even writing more one-shots and writing a bunch of microfics), Maddy’s encouragement has always been so uplifting. She has made me realise I am better than I give myself credit for, that my work is unique, and that I should run with that. So, that’s what I’m doing! If Maddy doesn’t have a full plate already, she made HP Next Gen Fest happen this year (which just finished posting) to spread the love for alll the next gen ships. Andddd of course, she’s a writer who has written some excellent Drarry fics and rare pair stories! Maddy has a way of embracing humour, flirting, fluff and sass all in on go, which makes character dynamics fun yet sexy! Quite of few of her fics have made me go down some rabbit holes and wanting more. Here are some of my fav Maddy fics: 🦑 >>> The Dragon Tamer & The Snake Slayer (Charlie/Neville, E, 17.7k)
Summary:  Professor Neville Longbottom has an unfortunate crush on his newest colleague, Charlie Weasley. Charlie, who is pure magic personified, even in a wizarding world. Whose scars and laughter make Neville come undone. Charlie, who could never be interested in Neville... right?
Remember that Maddy fic rec I mentioned above? THIS IS IT. I did not know I needed this fic until I read it, and gods, I love Herbtamer more now. There’s a wonderful acknowledgement to demisexuality, an excellent use of consent, and the energy between Neville and Charlie’s friendship is so warm. Also, these two mesh so well together that they fit like pieces of a puzzle, as they should. 🐙 >>> Let Me Count the Ways (Drarry, E, 3.6k)
Summary: Intimacy comes in many forms. Draco wants to explore them all with Harry.
OKAY. This is such a beautiful and well-written fic for sooo many reasons. What an amazing take on asexuality, and I adore how Draco wants to make everything so good for Harry. They’re both so soft, and full of sooo mannnyy feelings. All of their actions and words are enough to prove that they absolutely love each other. Seeing all the ways their relationship changes over time will make you melt into a puddle. If you want some sexy fluff, go read this!| 🦑 >>> Are Those Drugs in Your System, or Are You Just Happy to See Me?  (Drarry, T, 1.3k)
Summary: While Harry is out on patrol on New Year's Eve, he stumbles (literally) into Draco. When their eyes meet, Harry is immediately concerned - why are Draco's pupils so wide? Is he high? Nope. Turns out he's just in love.
What a sweet and fun read! If you want some classic Drarry banter, you’ve got it in here. Also, Draco is absolutely precious, blunt and sassy, just the way we like him. Such a wonderful take on a NYE fic. 🐙 >>> Life After Quidditch (Flintwood, E, 11k)
Summary: After a career-ending injury, Oliver Wood is forced to take an early retirement. And what does early retirement look like for famous Quidditch players? The charity circuit. Galas, bake sales, auctions—you name it, Oliver’s agent had signed him up for it. Oliver didn’t know what to expect from this new life, but it certainly wasn’t Marcus Flint popping up at every turn. Or for him to be friendly and welcoming, unwilling to let Oliver stew in his self-loathing. Or for him to look so good in yoga pants. Or to fall for the git.
The way Maddy writes Flintwood is outstanding, and this fic does not disappoint. She has such a way of bringing in teasing, humour and all the UST together when it comes to Oliver and Marcus. Their banter is spot on, and I also love how these two have changed as people since school. Of course, Oliver tries to figure out how the world still exists when Marcus isn’t antagonising him (aka Marcus has other ways to push Oliver’s buttons that doesn’t involve fist fights). And the charity events? Hilarious. 10000% worth the read to see how these two get together, and for all the clever lines and flirting. You can find more of Maddy’s work on AO3. Make sure to leave kudos and comments to show appreciation for her fandom contributions. Maddy, you are truly special and one of a kind. Thank you again for spreading so much love and for making so many people feel seen and cared for. I hope you have a wonderful day!

thank you @userbettycooper & @hydesjackiespuddinpop for tagging me!!!
rules: five unpopular opinions from five fandoms.
for titans, I don't hate hank and dawn both as characters themselves and as a ship (well I mainly shipped them in their flashback episode). people hate them because they took too much screen time but like, I actually enjoyed them. like yeah, hank was an asshole most of the time but I liked him, he was funny and he deserved better. and for dawn, I hate how people bash her because she was with dick (dickkory is my otp but dawn is also one of my favorite characters) and saying how that she should've died like I don't get it, I love her and all of you haters can suck it. all the women in titans are amazing and i hate how people like to pin them against each other over ship wars or whose more powerful like fuck off
for daisy jones & the six, i don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but I really don't like daisybilly together tbh. they just never grabbed my attention, also i hate billy and i think both daisy and camila deserve better than him.
for yellowjackets, i don't hate travis, he was an asshole I can admit that but.... I just don't think he's as bad as everyone makes him out to be. some of the men on this show have done worse than travis in my opinion (side eyeing officer groomer in the present timeline) and probably prior to season 2 I would've said callie as well but more people are liking her now, and I really like that so much she deserves the love <3
for euphoria, cassie does deserve some of the criticism she gets but some hate and stuff people say about it just rubs me in the wrong way. and I dislike how people not acknowledge her trauma because they favor maddy and lexi, and I do like maddy and lexi more as characters but I still love cassie and i really think that she can be a better person if people tried to pull her away from nate than just push her into his arms and she becomes progressively worse. also, there is a difference between an explanation and an excuse, what cassie had did in season 2 is inexcusable but we have to understand why she did what she did then than just wish death upon a teenage girl for making really, really horrible decisions and bash her more than the actual abuser. also someone get this girl therapy for god's sake
and finally for teen wolf, i know stiles is shipped with like soooooo many characters in the show but I truly and genuinely only ship him with like 3 people (scott, cora & malia). I never fully understood the hype around st*rek, I hate st*dia, and any other ships I just don't pay a lot of attention too anyways. and also speaking of stiles, I do like him and I can relate to him at points, but I just don't think he's the best character of the show. I'm not saying he isn't a great character, he is but it's just me having a preference for other characters who don't get that much love as he does

9-1-1: Lone Star rant (and very brief 9-1-1 mention)
Am I also the only one who feels annoyed that TK has pretty much never been held accountable for any of his actions? It’s kinda like Buck even though Bobby HAS took him to task a few times when Buck deserved it. Owen really hasn’t where TK is concerned. Neither has Tommy.
I mean, first there’s the boyfriend in the beginning of season one who has never been on screen as far as I’m aware and is nothing more than a name really but now has this whole completely fandomized backstory where he’s a complete controlling dick and was even abusive just because his rejection of TK’s marriage proposal caused him to overdose. But all I can tell is that he rejected the proposal and he IS allowed to do that.
Second is TK regularly ignoring direct orders when he was still a firefighter yet none of his superiors ever took him to task for doing so, and I guess Owen gives him a LOT of slack because he’s his kid. Judd really couldn’t do anything because Owen would probably and very likely override him anyway.
Third is TK’s incredibly short temper and his tendency to take it out on friends and family. Tarlos is adorable really but I went through a phase and still kinda feel that way where I believed that Carlos deserved BETTER. Especially when he went to tell TK about Owen getting arrested, had TK start trying to physically assault him as a response even though Carlos was not to blame which forced Carlos to restrain him only for him to promptly be “othered” and kicked out of the firehouse by Judd who then, along with the others, sucked up to TK instead. Don’t even get me started on the brief split in the beginning of Season 3. I can see how the cause affected both of them really but when TK pointedly stared Carlos down upon running into him out on the job, while Carlos couldn’t even meet his eyes had me leaning more toward his side.
I do fault Carlos though for accepting TK’s marriage proposal even though he’s apparently married to Iris Blake? Who won’t divorce him of course. Like what? Who the heck thought up that storyline?! I haven’t kept up with this one though, can someone clear it up for me?
I don’t know, I’m just tired of both Eddie and Carlos getting the short end of the stick repeatedly where their respective relationships with the woobies are concerned hence this rant(and TK’s apparent privilege where the writers and fandom are concerned). TK screws up, it’s Carlos’s fault according to the fandom. TK lashes out and basically tries to assault Carlos? That’s Carlos’s fault too. TK doesn’t know how to use his words and expects Carlos to read his mind(season 3 fight), shame on Carlos for not being a telepath! 🙄
And in 9-1-1, NOTHING Eddie does where Buck is concerned is EVER good enough. And it’s irritating to read and see. Where the hell was all this blame when Buck caused the lawsuit and got everyone rightfully mad at him? It became everyone’s fault except Buck’s. Bobby has been utterly vilified several times for rightfully calling Buck out when he deserved it. Same with Eddie. Buck was also excused from every freaking direction in the fandom after he lost Christopher in the tsunami and absolutely refused to tell Eddie even though Maddie was telling him he should and the fact that Christopher is Eddie’s child. But Buck had reason! But no one explained WHY it was okay for Buck to do this. I also hate how everyone craps on Eddie for not loving loudly like Buck does and just ignoring the fact that isn’t how he is.

ASK GAME FOR 9-1-1 !!
also ! julie and the phantoms ! bc ur so right it deserved a season 2 !!!!! netflix did jatp so wrong
Because this got super long
9-1-1
my all-time ultimate fave character: Chimney
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Hen
a character I used to like but now don’t: Buck
a character I’m indifferent about: Eddie
a character who deserved better: Taylor Kelly
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: I’d prefer not to answer that
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Madney
a cute, low-key ship: Bathena
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: Michael and David
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: There aren’t many but I didn’t like the Buck and Lucy kiss in 5x11 if that qualifies
my favourite storyline/moment: Fight or Flight
a storyline that never should have been written: The whole cheating storylines, it was just terrible and unnecessary and ruined the characters
my first thoughts on the show: What drew me into the show was the found family dynamics, Angela Bassett and Jennifer Love Hewitt in another show. I also love the ocassional chaotic moments in some of the emergencies they dealt with like in Jinx (4x06), Treasure Hunt (4x12), Ocean’s 9-1-1 (2x15), Monsters (3x06) etc
my thoughts now: I have mixed feelings about the show especially after 5b and idk if I want to give season 6 a chance cause of it. There’s too much discourse going on and a lot of bashing and hate due to bias towards a ship and characters, which ruins any enjoyment I have in the fandom. Aside from Boston (5x12) and May Day (5x16), 5b was probably my least favorite season overall. While 5a had the problematic blackout storyline and the lack of Maddie and Chimney, the episodes were more rewatchable than in 5b as I felt that a lot of the characters were a bit ooc in 5b. I also did not like the season finale aside from the Henren wedding and Maddie returning to work. Also Taylor deserved better and I hate how we did not get to have any potential storylines that was set up in 5b
Julie and the Phantoms
my all-time ultimate fave character: Julie
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Ray
a character I used to like but now don’t: there’s none, I do hate Caleb but I never liked him in the first place. Bobby, it’s more indifference but I hated that he took credit for Luke’s songs
a character I’m indifferent about: Julie’s aunt Victoria
a character who deserved better: Julie and the boys
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: Julie and Carrie
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Julie and Luke
a cute, low-key ship: Alex and Willie
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: there’s none that I know
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: anyone with Caleb
my favourite storyline/moment: The climax at the orpheum
a storyline that never should have been written: it’s hard to choose, given that the show has only 9 episodes
my first thoughts on the show: I thought it was very cheesy and had a 2000s vibe to it but after watching the first two episodes, I grew to love the characters and the storyline is actually pretty good
my thoughts now: The show had a lot of potential and the fact that Netflix cancelled it after a year of ignoring the show still pisses me off. The fact that the show left so many unanswered questions is upsetting
send me a tv series and I’ll tell you
