Abdirak x Astarion x Raphael - Raphael will be the centre of attention, as he often demands, whether he likes it or not (he will like it~)

----- I have all of these listed, along with the requester, in a little spreadsheet. I like taking on challenges, though I cannot guarantee how long each piece will end up or when it will be ready. Feeding me validation doesn't hurt though loves, the writer's ego is a shy and fragile thing, I just try to pretend it isn't as I put my works into a trebuchet and launch them at anyone within range~

See how in 2023 almost all of the reblogs come from the OP, from their few hours/days in the tag search. Meanwhile in 2014 the % of reblogs from OP is insignificant, because most of the reblogs come from the reblogs within the fandom, within the micro-communities formed there. You didn't need to rely on tags, or search, or being featured. Because the community took care of you, made sure to pass the work between themselves and onto their blog and exposed their followers to it. It kept works alive for years.

It's not JUST the reblog/like ratio that causing this issue, it's the type of interaction people have. They're content with scrolling and liking the search engine, instead of actually having a reblogging relationship with other blogs in their community.

Anyways, if you want to see more content you like, the only true way to make it happen is to reblog it. Likes do not forward content in no way but making OP feel nice. Reblogs on the other hand make content eternal. They make it relevant, they make it exist outside of a fickle tumblr search that hardly works on the best of days.

If you want more of something, reblog it.

wild watching the Watcher boys video as an avid good mythical morning fan. Like Mythical has way more than 25 employees, they post videos almost every weekday, there's multiple channels, they literally bought Smosh for a little bit, and yet almost all of their content is free on YouTube? Like aside from the buddy systems (man, remember YouTube red?) and the exclusive content on the mythical society, you can watch almost everything, more than a decade's worth of content, for free on YouTube. Like they actually might have enough videos to warrant their own streaming service and they don't. Asking fans to pay $6 for 4 videos a month is not worth it, even if those fans wanted to watch every single series you guys do (which in my experience, is not true. We all got favorites and ones we don't click with)

And obviously there's plenty of stuff under the hood here, and YouTube as it was when GMM started is not the same as the YouTube that was here when watcher struck out on their own, but like. Guys. Really? Was this your only option?

i just want people to know that just because your content doesn’t get many notes, doesn’t mean it isn’t worthwhile. there is someone out there, a living breathing human being, who appreciates it, whose day it made that little bit brighter, and who admires what you do. nothing is a ‘flop’ if it made one person happy.

#i feel like i talk about this a lot #and that doesn't mean that notes aren't necessarily important #because i really do understand as a creator how depressing it is to feel like you aren't getting recognition for your work #and that comes through notes #but i think it can also be true that we fixate on notes too much #and actually getting 1000 likes means nothing if people aren't engaging with your content #and by that i mean leaving comments and reblogging to share it #it's so sad that creators feel like they can't create what they want bc it's not the tumblr fixation rn #and they don't want to put the time and energy into creating something now that simply won't get the love it deserves #but it's important to remember that there really are people out there who love what you do #and surrounding yourself with people who uplift you can be rewarding in itself #(this is mostly a reminder for me bc i'm feeling uninspired lately and i think the root of it is tumblr's current quiet spot lol)
