In the book aemond is a psychopath, aegon a rapist, alicent a cunt. Haelena is the only normal child, in the show is the same. How can someone be team green? You said the are more 'complex' but no, they are just more problematic

the show is different then the books, by a fucking mile. the situation and circumstances for almost everything surrounding the greens is drastically different. when I talk about them, due to not having fully read the book (cause it's long and I can't get my ADHD to grab onto it like the show), I'm talking about the show. in the show they are significantly more fleshed out and complex, they earned far more of my pity than Rhaenyra and her kids did in the show, and I just liked them more.

in the books, they are bad people, but so is everyone else, especially Rhaenyra and Daemon. the sword has two edges. honestly, from what I managed to read/know about the book, everyone in that damn thing seems like they suck (outside of Helaena), but thats fine, that's great actually. a full morally grey to not so grey set of characters is interesting. they're all problematic, it's a game of pick your favorite sicko(s).

also the "Aegon's a rapist" horse has been beaten to dust. the only potential proof that he is one is from a very black favoring unreliable narrator who slanders the greens almost every chance he gets... so while I, and nobody, can say that it's 100% false, similarly, no one can say that it's 100% true either. (the vibe I picked up is that he may be a bit handsy without consent and a whore who frequents whorehouses as a customer, but not a rapist. doesn't make it right, but those two things are very different. I also think people tend to forget that the concept and age of consent in medieval times was VERY different. again, doesn't make it right. but there were things that were just... ok... then, that are far from ok now. all of this greatly effects aegons situation and the nuance around it).

Aemond was and still sorta (in the show) is a psycho. I won't deny that, but he has so many layers in the show, so many why's and hows to him and his growing instability, that IS fascinating and complex and I love to dig around in his characterization and psychology and I know I'm not the only one.

from the sounds of it, Alicent is like any other greedy noble ever, she's just a woman and a mother as well, so she's a bitch and she's protecting her kids which people don't like. Rhaenyra's also a bitch and she's protecting her kids. they all hate each other, they all want each other's heads on spikes. it's war between two sides of terrible people told through the lenses of unreliable narrators, no side is better than the other, "just pick your favorite asshole" seems to be the rule of thumb at that point cause who knows what the hell actually happened. (take this with a grain of salt, cause from where I stand, all I say is hearsay)

just let team green fans live their lives and remember that not everyone gives a shit about the book.

basic fucking take and i mean real basic like literally everyone does the whole beauty and the beast reimagining thing but nevertheless!

i want a fuckin lesbianistic beauty and the beast adaptation where at some point the beast kinda accepts that this isnt going to work. maybe the curse never specified it had to be a mans love that would save her but isnt it implied? isnt it always implied, if not stated outright? but she doesnt care anymore. she was so angry at first. she felt cheated, and perhaps rightly so, when the merchants only son turned out to be a daughter. at the same time however without the pressure to win his love and break the curse she was able to be more open with her than she maybe would have otherwise, and quite without meaning to, she found a capacity for love within herself the depths of which she'd never known. it was a thing that had always been denied to her. men called her frigid and her woman friends found her incomprehensible but in becoming a beast she's become somehow unalike either, ungendered by her monstrosity. in a sense, made free. she doesnt care anymore. even if she cant love her, if the beauty can only endure her presence, she can endure the rest. even if she can never move freely in ordinary society again, could she ever really? this is as fitting a fate as any, and despite it all, a happier one than she envisioned for herself.

and then idk maybe she breaks the curse regardless but gets the ability to switch forms at will i always thought that would be a cooler ending.

The "Get Woke, Go Broke" Crowd is so funny to me

Watched another video of another take down of one of those guys who whine about "wokeness in media", with the usual "get woke, go broke" stuff. Which is even more timely, given the entire shitshow with Variety over the last week. And honestly... I used to get so angry about these people, but by now I mostly just find them funny. Because other than most marginalized folks, they do not seem to understand one central thing: Companies do not care about marginalized folks. They never did. The one and only reason why they invest in media that is "woke" (aka diverse) is, that the guys at the top decided, that it is what will make them most money on the long haul.

There is not gay people in so much media right now, because the big studios want to be "politically correct". There is gay people, because the gay shit is what is making them money.

No, not all diverse media succeeds. Because predicting audience response is not easy. But guess what, there is a lot more failing projects about straight, cishet, white dudes, than about queer folks or non-white folks. (Just so we are clear: Because still a majority of media is about this group - so just statistically it will more likely fail.)

The people managing the companies, who create this stuff do not care about either artistic vision OR marginalized people. Their decisions are fully and entirely based on often a very superficial understanding of what audiences like. And, well, numbers say, that audiences do like the diverse shit more. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I gave him more hair than he has in the book. In the book he has like a few wisps of hair behind his ears and on his forehead. You can't see it in my current art but if I draw him from the back I do have him as having a thin balding patch on his crown and there are clumps where you can see his scalp through is hair. He does what he can with it but alas... We can't all be Adam Frankenstein and have lustrous thick black hair.
