i think it’s so fucked up that after you buy groceries you end up eating all the groceries so you have to buy more and then you eat that too and then you have to keep buying groceries until you DIE

amatonormativity is one of the most harmful forces in society, actually.
it’s incredibly structural, and invisible, and if you don’t live outside striving for the monogamous ideals, it can be incredibly normalised to a very toxic extent
amatonormativity:
- contributes to abuse (people staying in relationships because they are manipulated into thinking that some romantic relationship is better than none)
- high divorce rates
- unhappy marriages
- unhappy relationships
- inability to live alone
- devaluing of friendship
- is underpinned and underpins ableism (disabled people’s humanity is often judged on their capacity for sex and love, particularly romantic)
idk, maybe we should take this seriously? all a lot of freedom movements - particularly feminism - are striving for are giving people choice on what to do with their lives.
amatonormativity is the societal norm. it is real, it is not good for anyone. relationship anarchy is cool.
anyway.

i really think the latino purists are so fucking dumb. a while ago i expressed wanting to reconnect to my indigenous heritage as a mexican person because i believe reconnecting and honoring indigenous ancestry is critical to decolonialism. and what did i get? a bunch of latinos angry as fuck because I dont “look” indigenous or that i’m too white to be indigenous, or that im just a byproduct of United Station culture and that Im a watered down mexican. Turns out from a recent dna test that almost half of my makeup is indigenous american, both Native North and Mexican indigenous. Of course the other half is portugal and Spain, but holy fuck was I happy. Finally I know that I can make the first steps to honoring that part of my ancestry, even if I will never find out what tribe or groups of indigenous people my family is from. the point is that im making those first steps, and I genuinely believe decolonization starts with learning about any and all indigenous ancestry that you may have within your family. Even if that ancestry is not positive, whether from colonization or slavery. Having that knowledge is powerful, knowing the tribes, learning their names, how to pronounce it correctly, familiarizing yourself with that culture...how is that not more important to other latinos? we come from colonization, and we seriously have to start joining our indigenous communities in honoring their presence now and in the past.

On today’s realization of the day.
If you don’t have any expectations for people, they can never disappoint you, they can only surprise you.
You’ll find that you’re never angry with people because you never expected them to do the thing you asked of them. You’ll find yourself happily surprised at the fact that they even did it.

imagine being so insensitive that you would blame a child for their death and openly talk about how badly behaved they were right in front of their grave. oh and on said child's birthday-- the day he would've turned 18 years old. you spend your first official late child's 18th birthday calling him brash and impulsive, implying he got himself murdered, instead of mourning the fact that today is the day your dead son would've reached a major milestone in his life.

The fact that the Duffers didn't make Max a pick me girl makes me want to kiss them on the mouth. They easily could have fallen into the trope of her putting down other girls and hating on anything feminine, but they didn't.
She's sarcastic, skateboards, goes by Max rather than Maxine, and hangs out with little boys and yet she is so excited to meet El at the end of S2! She doesn't see El as competition she sees her as a friend! During
S3 we see that Max is an actual feminist icon as she encourages El to find herself outside of her relationship with Mike. We see Max's feminine side which she is not at all ashamed of.
And the fact that they made El and Max so close after El's initial jealousy toward her in S2 feels so special to me. All of S2 Max just wants to be a part of the party, specifically she wants Mike to accept her into the party (because he's really the only one gatekeeping lol) and Max fully realizes that the reason why Mike doesn't want her in the party is because he misses El and doesnt want to feel like they're replacing her.
So it would have been so easy, made sense even, for Max to be jealous of El or to resent her. Especially after El is cold to her when they first meet. But she isn't and she doesn't! Idk I just love Max a lot and I will always be grateful to the Duffers for not Ginny Weasleyifying her.
