A/N: Thanks for requesting! I usually don't write fics where the reader is a child, so I apologize if this isn't that good. :)

The Messis are probably the kindest and most caring family you’ve ever met

Messi playing fútball most of the year makes life hectic for everybody, but him and Anto always find time to spend with their kids.

They support any and all of your dreams, even if those dreams don’t include playing fútball.

While they would never admit it in front of you or your brothers, you are definitely their favorite child.

Not only are you their only daughter, but you’re their first child, so you hold a special place in both of their hearts.

Most of the time, Anto would take you and your siblings to your dad’s games, whether it was a World Cup match or he was playing a club game for PSG.

On a few occasions, she would leave Mateo, Thiago, and Ciro with your grandparents at the stadium, and take you shopping around Paris.

Needless to say, you’ve amassed quite the fútball jersey collection.

Of course, you have all of Messi’s, which you wear almost everyday to his matches, but you also have most of his teammates’ jerseys.

de Paul and Neymar are basically your uncles; you see them so often it’s hard to believe they’re not actually part of your family. They bring you mounds of presents for your birthday and Christmas. Neymar once threw you a surprise party for your birthday and it was one of the best you’ve ever had.

That being said, your parents try not to spoil you so you can have the same upbringing they did. They have always taught you to be polite and generous. Anto especially encourages you to donate toys and stuff that you don’t need anymore.

Speaking of which, the World Cup is obviously the biggest event in the Messi family, and you’ve been to every one your dad has played in.

When he finally won, everything broke into excited chaos as your family rushed down to the field to celebrate with him and de Paul.

You were the first of your family (besides Messi) to hold up the World Cup. It was incredibly exhilarating and you will remember it forever. 

The days after the World Cup were a blur, but Anto helped you and your brothers get through it without getting hounded by reporters and fans. Messi makes sure to spend any off-time he has with his children, so you are never away from him for too long.

Leo lately has been having thoughts about you, his little sister, with one of his teammates, Pedri, he can't help but think you two would somehow match together.

Pedri is a simple guy, nothing, wrong with it, Leo himself is too, honest, kind, great at what he does and a true Barça lover.

You are his little sister who he loves so much, the one he practically raised really, being so much younger than your other siblings and your parents being very busy with Leo's career, Leo most of the times took it into his hands to keep an eye on you, the internet is full of photos of him carrying you into matches from a very young age. You were truly Leo's first experience raising someone, there were those who even said you were actually his secret love child who he had at an extremely young age so they passed you off as a sister, lies of course, but it's not surprising there were those who believed it.

Pedri has recently joined the team, and you two, just seemed to hit it off fair quickly, something that Leo inmediatly became aware of. He knows you two are friends, but there is this part of him, telling him you two could be much more, and doesn't matter how much Antonella tells him to shut up the idea, he soon becomes your personal matchmaker without telling you.

It starts pretty simple, making you two encounter one another.

"Vení con los chicos y conmigo, así haces compañía a Pedri, que creo le cuesta un poco estarse cómodo conmigo y los pibes siendo el nuevo" he tells you one day, and of course you agree because Pedri and the rest are pretty nice, honestly most of the older players have taken you in as if you were their little sister and not Leo's. (come with me and the guys, so you can keep Pedri company, I think it's difficult for him to be comfortable with us being the new guy)

You honestly are suspicious of how much Leo smiles the entire evening and of Antonella giving him an annoyed look, as if he had done something wrong, yet you have no idea what.

You had fun honestly, Pedri is sweet, easy to have a conversation with once you break his shell, the other players tease him all the time, yet never say outright what the teasing is all about, but you do see the sneaky looks they give your way, yet decide to ignore them.

You don't see Pedri in a while, being a year younger than him, you are busy after entering 2nd of Bachillerato (Spanish last school year before university) and Pedri with training and getting to know Barcelona. One day you are laying around doing nothing, your brother approaches you out of nowhere, sneaky glint in his eye, trying to force down a smirk.

"Che, ¿me harías un favor?" (hey, will you do me a favor)

"Depende" (depends)

"Te quería pedir si podrías salir con Pedri, enseñarle un poco la ciudad, el pobre pibe todavía no se acostumbra" (I wanted to ask you if you could go out with Pedri, show him around the city, the poor guy doesn't get used yet)

"¿Y por qué no vas vos?" (and why don't you go?)

"Yo supongo él preferirá ir con vos que son más o menos de la misma edad" (I suppose he will prefer to go with you as you are the same age)

You end up agreeing, have a great time too, but are surprised to see Pedri knows all the places you took him to after your brother had made it sound like he had no idea. When you arrive home, he is looking expectant to see your expression, Antonella rolling her eyes besides him, after you tell him you had a great time and leave towards your room, you swear you can hear him let out a joyful noise, but decide to ignore him.

Every new season means a new shirt for the players to use during matches, and as always, Leo promises to bring you, the kids and Anto some for you all to wear, the number 10 and "Messi" on the back to show off your support for the greatest football player there is and ever will be.

He enters your room one random day to give you yours, you are too distracted by homework to check it out, but promise to do it later, you miss the way he pouts, as if he wanted to see your reaction over something.

You finish a couple hours later, the shirt almost forgotten before the bright red and blue colors catch your eye. You pick it up to examine it, it's not you favorite but it looks just fine, you turn it, expecting to see your brother's name and number on it but freeze as you realise there must have been a confusion.

A big 16 with the name Pedri on the top, you run down the stairs to inform your brother of the mistake, yet he has a sneaky smirk as he too checks the shirt out.

"Bueno, digo yo no pasará nada si la usas para un partido o dos. Incluso le podrá dar ánimos al pibe" (well, I don't think anything will happen if you use it to a match or two. Plus, it might cheer up the guy)

Leo promises to ask for another shirt for you (he doesn't mention his closet to be full of them and you don't remember it either, Antonella doesn't say anything, she wants to see for how long her husband will play matchmaker), he will take some time before giving it to you though, he is getting tired of all this, and wants Pedri to be his brother in law as soon as possible.

His plan, surprising or not, has been working out, many times you leave the house talking about going out with Pedri to do god knows what, he hears you two talk until late night hours, and he has heard some of the guys of the team teasing the Canarian about some girl he is crushing on-he really hopes you are the girl or everything will have been a great waste of time.

On the next match, you show up wearing the new shirt, you can feel the whispers behind your back about the unusual number 16 you are showing off, but do your best to ignore them.

Barça wins, a good ending for a long match after a hard season on the players, too far away from better times. You, the kids and Anto wait for Leo among the rest of the families when a boy approaches you, you recognise him as Fer, Pedri's brother from photos the midfielder has shown you.

"Buen partido, ¿no?" (good match, right?)

"Casi me da algo viéndolo" (I almost had a stroke from watching)

"Bonita camiseta por cierto" (nice shirt by the way)

You roll your eyes "Leo es un gil y me dio una que no era. Boludo, no quiero ni saber que se inventaran" (Leo is an idiot and gave me a wrong one. I don't even want to know what people will say)

"Pedri González, del máximo admirador de Messi, a salir con su hermana pequeña" (from Messi's greatest fan, to dating his little sister)

Leo frowns as he watches you laughing with the wrong brother as he walks out alongside Pedri and Piqué, he hits the later with his elbow and signals Pedri with his head, the younger boy seems to have noticed you and his brother too, as he too frowns, a saddened look in his face. Piqué clears his throat.

"¿Viste la camiseta que lleva y/n hoy?" (did you see the shirt y/n is wearing today)

The midfielder shakes his head, his eyes don't leave you figure.

"Che, yo también me fije" (hey, I noticed too)

"¿De qué hablan?" (what are you talking about?)

"Posta me parece que en la parte de atrás hay un 16, eh. Yo que vos chequearia" (I seriously think there is a 16 on the back. If I were you I would check it out)

Piqué nods, and the two watch as the boy approaches you. "¿Desde cuando haces de cupido?" (since when do you play cupid)

"Me tengo que entretener con algo, pelotudo" (I have to entertain myself with something, asshole)

Leo watches from his spot as both you and Pedri blush from whatever you are chatting about. The same behaviour goes on for the rest of the night, sneaky conversations in between you both that he unfortunately can't reach to hear. He pretends to not notice when you two dissappear sometime during the night.

He definitely doesn't squeal under Antonella's amused gaze at the end of the night, when you tell him how you and Pedri kissed and how the midfielder has asked you out for a date.

That night, when your brother is faraway from your room, you pick up Pedri's call.

"¿No deberíamos decirle que él no hizo nada, sino que ya estábamos saliendo?" (shouldn't we tell him that he didn't do anything and we were, already dating)

You shake your head "Naa, déjalo disfrutar al pobre chavon, que en verdad le gusta todo esto de ser casamentero" (noo, let the poor guy enjoy himself, he actually likes this whole matchmaker thing)

You don't think you will ever tell Leo the truth, let him think it was all thanks to him, when in fact you two have been together from the start and found it quite amusing how he played the fool with all these weird coincidences to get you two to become closer. It was time to let him in into your love though, let him know how much you actually like Pedri and he, you.

Unfortunately, after things become official, Leo becomes the most obnoxious, annoying, older brother the world has seen. But that is a story for another time.

You and your boyfriend of 4 years were at dinner. Your boyfriend Lionel Messi was invited to a dinner with many other professional football players. It was a friendly dinner.

As you and Leo went, Leo was excited for you to meet some of his friends that he works with, you were excited to but nervous at the same time.

Leo took notice of the small detail.

" Mi amor, no te preocupes, te amarán. " Leo said softly was a soft smile.

As the two of you got to the restaurant, it was beautiful in your opinion.

The two of you walked in, there were people already greeting Leo. Before you got to your tables, it was handshakes after handshakes, your hand was already tired.

" My hand is already tired Leo" you laughed as Leo laughed along.

" Meu Amor, trust me when I say, there's going to be plenty more greetings" Leo said as he laughed.

After awhile of you and Leo talking with people you notice a commotion of people at the entrance and so did Leo.

As you took a closer look, you realized who it was.

You were shocked that he was also going to be here. You knew about the rivalry Leo had with Cristiano on field but off the field, you knew it was friendly.

After the commotion lessened, you noticed Cristiano walking towards you and Leo.

" Leo, nice to see you again" Cristiano said with a smile.

From there, Leo and Cristiano talked but Leo stopped speaking and noticed you havnt said a word, it wasn't no surprised cause you weren't a very social person.

" Cristiano, meet my girlfriend Y/n" Leo said with a sweet smile as Leo observed your features.

" What a pleasure to meet you Miss Y/n" Cristiano said as he grabbed your hand and kissed it.

Leo noticed that, at first he didn't take it personally, so he let it slide.

After the introduction, all three of you sit at a table with acouple other people.

As time went on, you made conversations with Cristiano for a bit as he mostly talked with Leo but then Cristiano suddenly turned his attention to you.

It definitely was odd to you, but you didn't want to be mean.

After awhile, you noticed Leo seemed off and you didn't like it.

As for Leo, he simply couldn't take it anymore. Cristiano kept saying flirty comments and doing little gestures to make you smile.

" Mi amor, I'm going to talk to Enzo, I'll be back" Leo said with a smile and he nodded towards you and Cristiano as he walked off.

You could tell the smile was off, that smile could fool anyone but not you, somthing was off but you didn't know what.

As Leo walked to his good friend Enzo Fernandez, Enzo was grinning at Leo.

" Better go get your girl, before he steals her away" Enzo playfully laughed.

Leo and Enzo began to talk. The whole time, Leo had his gaze on you but especially Cristiano.

Leo didn't like how Cristiano kept doing flirty things and you were alright with it. He simply was jealous, Leo is never a jealous person but when it comes to you, it's different.

Then Leo started to hear people talking. They were talking about you and Cristiano.

"Isn't she with Lionel Messi?"

" He just might steal her away"

"If she picks Cristiano, I won't be suprised he's better than Lionel"

Those were some things he's heard but eventually he couldn't take it anymore.

Enzo heard what the people were talking about. By then Enzo knew what Leo was going to do.

" Good luck, Leo, ve a buscar a tu Novia" Enzo said as he chuckled at Leo as Leo said his goodbyes.

Leo walked up to the table where you and Cristiano were sitting, he sat down and whispered into your ear.

At that moment, it clicked for you, the reason he was asking off because,Leo was jealous. You felt bad for making him feel that way.

" Meu Amor look at me" You said and he kept on rambling on, not looking at you.

You look at Leo as you grab both sides of his face and made him look at you as you gave him a gentle kiss.

You pull away from the kiss and you look into Leo's brown eyes.

"I'm yours, you know I'm yours" you said to Leo softly.

Leo relaxes at you words and gave you a gentle kiss.

" Tu camino hacia el bien para mí, mi amor, gracias por entender." Leo said as he whispered into your ear.

So surely you had to take the first step

After so many conversations in which none took the first step, you asked him if he wanted to go out with you on a date

Okay so I figured this might be a good time to share my origin story of becoming a Lionel Messi fan!

(Even if it isn't, my unhinged a** is gonna do it anyway, so enjoy:))

2014 world cup era. My dad has always been obsessed with football in general, and Maradona in particular, so of course he was supporting Argentina out of hangover. My little cousin sister from America had come down to live in India for six months, and in that time we shared not only all our toys, but also headcanons regarding their world, their personalities and their future. As life would have it, we TOTALLY COINCIDENTALLY also happened to possess this clay toy horse named 'Messi', because he was messy. And when the WC started and my dad started yelling Messi Messi at a game, my sis and I obviously went to enquire why our horse had suddenly become so relevant. Then we got to know of Leo's (legendary, spectacular, beautiful, marvellous) existence, and began ROOTING for him throughout the tournament, just because his name matched with the name of our horse. We had absolutely no other context, but that didn't make our devotion superficial. In fact, we prayed every morning so that "Messi" and his team would qualify for the next stage, and we both fought our South-Asian household as kids to stay up till 1 or 2 in the night, I guess, to watch the finals, because time zones.

Needless to say, we were DEVASTATED by his loss. I don't remember if it by was my sis or me, or us both, but the clay horse Messi was smashed to the ground into a thousand pieces in the aftermath of our heartbreak.

That was pretty much my breakup with active participation in football worship. Though in the later years I occasionally got news from my father, I never felt the need to seek out what's going on in that world.

Cut to 2022, the WC starts and I vaguely hear about it. I feel almost nothing, and then Argentina loses against Saudi. I feel this one sharp pang in my chest, but this time it's familiar and long forgotten grief, so I get over it. And then the magic happens… one match after the other, the blue and white army of bbgs keep conquering, and everything in me *screams* "don't give me hope, I can't take this one more time."

I don't watch the finals… perhaps I should mention I have chronic anxiety 🙈. But I keep checking my phone every 5 minutes for stats. Won't waste time saying how excruciating it was, but they make it. Leo makes it, finally! And I imagine our beloved four legged Messi victoriously smiling from somewhere above.

Off topic but related to one of your previous asks: something I remembered just last night regarding Camila's family: football! (The one Americans call soccer.) Argentina is a football loving nation (I mean, they're the current world champions and Lionel Messi is, like, the biggest player in the world, or one of the biggest) and it's likely Camila's dad at least would be a fan. In the 80s, Diego Maradona was one of the top players in the world. So if that's something you want to integrate into your headcanons. I think of Camila as not being that into football, but her younger sister is!
