no because listen. one of the major themes of hamlet is that the characters have to do the opposite of what they think will complete them, what could tie them to survival. horatio is convinced he can do anything as long as he isn’t alone (he ends the play pulled from the body of the one he loves most. he is not allowed to follow.) ophelia could do anything as long as she’s loved (she looks into hamlet’s cold face and knows the truth. unwanted and unworthy daughter. scream so they can’t make you shut your mouth.) hamlet could do anything if he could just figure out how to be okay on his own (he refuses to hold on to horatio in life, so he clings to him in dying and death. you tried to fight loneliness with chosen isolation. you created the poison and refused to drink the antidote. you were meant for laughter, but not like this.)

I think abt Raps saving varian on that saporian airship a LOT.

“Oh but she has her hair! She knew she’d survive!” Did she? Varian mentioned that there was enough quirinion on that ship to destroy corona 10 TIMES OVER. And even if she did survive the initial explosion, how did she know she’d survive the fall?? She didn’t. But she did it anyway because she believes in him. She believes he’ll do better, that he’s sorry, even though he never said it. SHE BELIEVES IN HIM.

Remember this is the first time she’s seen him in over a year, and the last time they saw each other varian attacked her and her family with automatons, and she nearly impaled him with magic rocks. they’ve been together for a few hours at most, having had ONE heart to heart conversation that didn’t even consist of an apology on either side. BUT SHE SAVED HIM. And he tried to save HER. HE WAS GONNA KILL HIMSELF FOR HER. SHE WAS GONNA KILL HERSELF FOR HIM!!!!

genuinely really respect luke for putting out more and more devastating content just one thing after another like this with no apology, no 'dw i'm going to therapy now' like he'd say when wfttwtaf came out. like he's actually been through all this *gestures in vague artistic explanation* and we get to see him exploring how it affects him emotionally now, and not, from what we can see, being sorry for being emotional or for being lonely even when people are trying to be there for him. like we're never going to get the full story of everything that got him to this place, good and bad, and that's okay! that's what life is like actually. and he may never clarify to us anything gender or sexuality related. or neurodivergence related or anything like that. he might open up a bit about how he's coping, but we can see some of that already can't we? the beginnings of self acceptance.

and so i hope it finds its way to audiences who really resonate with it. I hope when we're talking about memory loss and dissociation and being far too overwhelmed for far too long and having emotional needs that aren't met by simply doing everything we're told to do, or feeling isolated and outcast even when you superficially fit in in a world that's far too shallow--i hope we're like 'have you heard these albums?' to each other. i hope we're able to connect over how we relate to these songs and i hope we tell each other our stories and i hope luke gets to hear some of them too, and realise being an artist is about more than repetitive interviews, looking pretty, and singing the same setlist of songs. to see that in being honest he connected people, thousands of us, with experiences that maybe aren't so dissimilar and so isolating, and, even though he's the famous artist who this fan community exists for, we can put ourselves together in a way that he doesn't have to feel separate from it all.

I'm sure he'd realistically be the quiet kind of drunk guy but can you imagine ghost being all lovey dovey when he's drunk?? clinging to you (who stayed sober to witness him like this) and kissing you through the mask, probably forgetting he has it on. I still think he'd keep his monotonous tone and blank slate expression because he's got a reputation to uphold!!! but his actions are very all over you. That's all

Simon is without a shadow of a doubt a quiet drunk, but I also know that his inhibitions are going to be so much lower than usual. So much more than his usual subtle brushes of his fingers against yours when he's sure no one's watching. Soap and Gaz would be sat at the other end of the bar staring at Ghost like he's grown two heads as he wraps his hands around you from behind and nuzzles (fucking nuzzles?!) his masked face into the top of your head.

But also YES!! His clinginess would absolutely be the only way you could tell he'd had too much to drink. He wouldn't slur a word, could play darts in the dingy corner of the bar and still get a bullseye with every throw (cocky motherfucker knows it too, i just know he'd make eye contact with you every time the tip of the dart sinks into the red fibre of the dart board, watching for your open approval at his skill). So until you came around, the team didn't even know if he could get drunk. They just assumed he had a tolerance of pure fucking steel.

And the kissing with the mask on shut UP. Him humming confusedly as you just laugh at his expense, him trying to figure out why the fuck your lips felt fuzzy instead of the soft skin he's used to kissing. It'd take him entirely too long to realise that the skull balaclava was still very much in place, mumbling profanities under his breath at the sheer audacity of the black material to be in his way in the first place.

I like to think Johnny goes to tease him about the way he's playing with your fingers in his gloved grasp, about how weirdly, adorably innocent it makes this 6'4 absolute killing machine look, but then he gets the signature Ghost Glare™ and realises that you're very much the only one he will ever be soft for, sober or drunk.
