#like not giving me an ultrasound and telling me to only message if I was ‘copiously bleeding’

well that sucked lol. I mean I have no new info about the pregnancy as they said they wouldn’t do an ultrasound or the doppler to listen to heartbeat as they were not medically necessary. I also was like ‘I feel like I’m losing my mind with anxiety I think about my baby being dead all the time I can’t focus at work some days because I’m so full of irrational fears that I can’t seem to rein in’ and the response was ‘well motherhood is about letting go of control so you have to do the work. we can’t do it for you. try going for a walk with a friend.’ lol. and then when I tried to be like the walks with friends aren’t really cutting it she was like ‘why are you anxious? you already saw that the pregnancy was in the right place so you know it’s not ectopic’ and I was just like… I don’t KNOW why I’m anxious I think what I’m trying to tell you is my anxiety doesn’t make sense and is consuming me despite evidence things are okay.

Janelle smiled as she turned her body to the side so she could see her growing bump. Six months  had passed since she found out she was pregnant and Josh’s family was ecstatic, they couldn’t wait to meet the newest addition to the family.
Her family on the other hand… they could care less. Her brother congratulated her but they haven’t returned any of her calls or text messages. She hasn’t talked to her dad in years since she found out he had a drug problem and didn't want to stay clean. Ever since her mother left her dad went on a downward spiral.  She tried not to think about how she didn’t really have a family, she didn’t want to be sad. Today was supposed to be a good day. Her, Josh and Xavier were going to see the baby through ultrasound and find out the gender.
“Janelle! You ready?” Josh called out for her.  She hurriedly washed her hands and walked out of the bathroom.
“Yeah, sorry.” He smiled and walked over to her to kiss her on the cheek.
“You good. We just excited.” He said, nodding over to Xavier who was bouncing on his toes. She laughed and followed them out to the garage.
“You ready to see your brother or sister?” Janelle asked Xavier as she strapped him into his booster seat. He nodded with a wide grin on his face.
“Yeah I can’t wait! I hope it's a boy!”  Janelle smiled and gave him a kiss on his forehead before getting into the passenger seat.
She placed a hand on her growing bump and looked out the window. No matter how hard she tried she just couldn’t stop thinking about her family.
Tumblr media
“Alright mom you can lay down right here and pull your shirt up to just under your bra and dad you and baby boy can sit right here.” The sonographer said. Janelle and Josh nodded. “This stuff is super cold so I apologize in advance.”
Janelle sucked in a breath as the sonographer placed the gel on her stomach, Josh grabbed her hand, his eyes focused on the screen. He never got the chance to do this when Xavier’s mom was pregnant. She didn’t tell him about Xavier until after he was born.
The tech moved the machine around before turning to them and smiling. “There’s your son or daughter.”  Janelle felt her eyes water as she gripped Josh’s hand tighter.
“Look Josh.” She said in awe as they watched the screen.”
“Would you like to know the gender?” She asked and Janelle looked over at Josh who nodded his head. “Alright,” She said. “Congratulations, you’re having a boy.” Xavier and Josh let out a cheer making Janelle and the sonographer laugh.  Xavier got off of his dad’s lap and walked over to Janelle, placing his hand on her stomach.
“You’re gonna be a great big brother.” The sonographer said with a smile on her face and Xavier nodded.
“The bestest.”
Tumblr media
Janelle stared at her stomach in the mirror as she got ready for bed. She placed her hands on her lower stomach. “I promise I’m gonna be the best mommy ever.” She whispered looking down at her belly.  Even after spending the day with Josh and Xavier and seeing her baby she still was feeling down about her family.
She kept wondering how her and her moms relationship would have been if she never walked out on them. She angrily wiped her tears away. This was supposed to be a happy moment in her life but all she could think about was her piece of shit family.
She walked out of the bathroom and let out a chuckle when she saw Josh, staring at the ultrasound pictures. “Can you believe we really having a baby?” He asked. She got under the covers and leaned her head on his shoulder.
“It seems so surreal to be honest.” She said, placing her hand on her belly. Josh set the ultrasound picture down and placed his hand over hers.
“I love you” He said to Janelle kissing her on her lips before scooting down and pressing a kiss to her stomach. “And I love you too.”
Tumblr media
It was now the weekend and time for their gender reveal party.  Janelle walked into the backyard and let out a gasp. Josh had gone all out for this party. He had hired an event planner and a decorator. Josh walked over to her.
“Is it too much?” He asked, watching as she looked around their backyard. She shook her head.
“No,  this is amazing.”
Tumblr media
“I was scared I did too much. You know I never got to do any of this with Xavier.”  Janelle had to stop herself from crying, what Xavier’s mom had put Josh through was terrible. He didn’t even know that Xavier existed until he was almost 1.
“Oh my god!” Trinity said as she and Jon walked into the backyard. “This is bomb as fuck.” She said, giving Janelle a hug. “Girl you look amazing.”
“Thank you. Josh planned everything.” Janelle said laughing when Josh gave himself a pat on the back.
“Look at you all glowing and shit.” Jon said as he gave Janelle a hug. “I hope y'all having twins.” She slapped him on his chest.
“Don’t wish that on me.” She said pushing him when he started laughing. They stood there talking some more until more guests started to arrive.
Janelle smiled softly as she looked around the backyard at everyone who came to celebrate their baby. It was still bittersweet since it was still all of Josh’s family, her aunt came and dropped off a gift but she didn’t stay.
Josh watched her from a distance, even though he was far away from her, he could still see the sadness in her face. He sighed and pulled his phone and let out a sigh of relief when he saw the text message. He snuck out of the side of the yard and met Janelle’s father and the sidewalk as he was getting out of his uber.
“Thank you for coming.” Josh said as he grabbed the luggage out of the trunk.
“Thank you for getting in contact with me. I would have hated to miss this moment.”  After seeing how sad Janelle looked the other day when they were going ofer the guest list Josh immediately knew it was because none of her family had RSVP’d. He knew that Janelle and her father and brothers had a rocky relationship but he knew that she wanted him to be there so Josh hired a private investigator to find Janelle’s dad.
“She’s gonna be happy that you’re here.” Josh led him through the yard and towards Janelle. She was talking with one of his aunts when he cleared his throat making her turn around.  Janelle’s eyes widened when she saw her dad next to Josh.
“Hey baby girl.” He said, pulling her into a hug. The second she was in his arms she broke down. Josh watched them with a smile on his face and tears in his eyes. He knew that all Janelle wanted was her dad to be present for his grandchild. Josh walked away from them to give them some privacy.
When Janelle and her dad pulled apart, he wiped the tears from her eyes. “I’m sorry Nelly. I’m gonna do better.”  She was so overcome with emotion she couldn't say anything so she just pulled him into a tight hug.
After introducing her dad to everyone it was time for them to reveal the gender of their baby.
Tumblr media
“It's time to find out the gender!” Josh said over the microphone. All of the guests started to surround the pool where the fireworks would go off. Josh and Janelle stood in front of the “Oh Baby” sign and Xavier stood in front of them.
“Thank you for getting my dad here.” She whispered to him.
“I know you’ve been wanting to get back in contact with him so I had to do that for you.” She smiled at him and placed a kiss on his lip. “I love you.” He said once they broke apart.
“Enough kissing! I’m tryna see if imma have a niece or nephew!” Jon yelled out. Janelle rolled her eyes while Josh flipped him off much to their moms dismay
“Fine, let's start the countdown.”
“5..4..3..2..1” Everyone chanted. Janelle jumped when the fireworks started to go off. Everyone started to cheer when the smoke turned blue.  Josh’s mom ran over and hugged all three of them.
“I’m so happy for y’all. I love y’all so much.”
“We love you too mom.” Josh said, placing a kiss on her forehead.

Pregnancy trope!! Summary: After getting pregnant by Rin at the age of 16, deciding that not telling him about is the best thing you could do for him. Considering his soccer career, you would only get in the way.

“Shit…”
Staring at the pregnancy test in my hands, with 2 lines.
2 lines…
Fuck
‘I always thought that I won’t get pregnant, because well… I hate kids
Fuck, I hate kids
Will I hate my kid too?
Should I abort it?
Mom would kill me
No that’s wrong
My whole family would kill me.
They’d kill me either way because I’m pregnant.’
Who would’ve thought that I’d be pregnant
At 16
And how the fuck do I tell him?
.
.
.
.
.
“Ok, it seems that you’re baby is healthy. Would you like to know the gender?”
Staring at the screen where my baby is, I think I’m getting the hang of this, ultrasound thing. I looked at the doctor who was holding the machine thingy, she was my third doctor because the other 2 were super judgy.
“Sure! Wouldn’t hurt to know right? “
“Don’t you want to have a gender reveal party? Love, it’s your first child after all”
Said mom, who was beside me. She finally got her head around that I was pregnant. Dad however is still awkward, along with my whole family. Apart from my close cousins of course. I didn’t tell him yet. Mom doesn’t know who it is. I just lied to her and told her that I forgot his name and that I didn’t get his number. Which was all a lie, I still remember his face from that night.
I mean how could you forget a face like his? He is Itoshi Rin Afterall.
“Nah, no one would probably come anyways”
“Don’t say that honey, I’m sure your cousins would like to come, and your friends”
“I think I’d rather just lay low”
“If that's what you want honey”
“Ok, so the gender of your baby is a-”
.
.
.
Looking at his contact name, resisting the urge to text him and say “I’m pregnant and you’re the father”
But I knew that it wouldn’t end well, I’d only be a burden to him, hold him back. And the last thing I need right now is to be stuck in a relationship like that. I don’t even know how we ended up having sex that night.
We’ve known each other since we were in grade school, we were neighbors, But then their family moved, and we kept in contact, But later this year, we’ve only been briefly chatting with each other again. Then we met up 8 months ago, we had a few drinks, and one thing led to another, and now we’re here.
I did try to contact him, but then I remembered him telling me that he was gonna go to a soccer camp called blue lock. So I made that a reason as to why he’s not messaging back.
And, without even telling him about our daughter, I already know how it’s gonna go.
He’ll probably say some shit like ‘I have to focus on soccer right now, but when I can I’ll visit you’
Then he will visit every few months, considering he might go pro in soccer, he’ll be busy and I’ll be here, stuck in the past. Struggling to get to the future with my baby. I don’t want my child to be in an unpredictable relationship with Rin, I mean we all know how Rin is, he is just so hell-bent on beating his brother, and I don’t want to get in the way of that. This is for the best. It will be better if Rin doesn’t know. I don’t want my daughters’ first heartbreak to be caused by her father.
Do I have any intention of telling him? I don’t know
But ever since getting pregnant I’ve gotten more curious and more excited about meeting my baby, I’ve grown attached to her, which is good. Because I want nothing more for my daughter other than to be happy. And I’ll make sure to give her all the happiness in the world. Even if it means being alone.
.
.
.
A cry filled in the delivery room, I finally felt my muscles let loose, and I saw the doctors wiping my daughter clean. Then they handed her to me. Hair as red as mine, I can already see the resemblance of her father on her face. The nose, the eyes, the eyelashes if Rin were to see her, he would immediately ask whether she was his.
The second I held her, I fell in love. Because everything was gonna change now, I won't be alone, she’ll be with me through everything. I don’t even care if Rin knows or not, as long as she’s with me.
After a few minutes, they started cleaning me up, and they took my baby to the monitor room. When they left the nurse asked what her name was gonna be.
“Rei”

surprise! || vinnie hacker x reader
Tumblr media
you never expected one word to make you so happy that you’d be running around your bathroom in tears. but here you were with the tiny stick in your hand that read positive, jumping for joy.
it wasn’t long after you met vinnie at the mere age of eighteen that you knew he was the one you wanted to start a family with. and now that it was actually becoming a reality, you couldn’t believe it, you couldn’t be more delighted.
vinnie was currently at a photo shoot, and would be for the rest of the day. giving you plenty of time to decide how you wanted to surprise him with the exciting news.
in the meantime, however, you were craving cake; specifically funfetti with chocolate frosting.
instead of ordering an overpriced cake to be delivered to your house, you decided to take matters into your own hands and bake one yourself. luckily for you, you had a similar craving while grocery shopping last week, so there was still a box of cake mix and a big jar of chocolatey frosting in the pantry just waiting to be eaten.
pulling out the rest of the ingredients and a large mixing bowl, you began whisking everything together before pouring it into the cake pan to go in the oven. not without taking a few licks of the spoon of course. just a little won’t kill me, you thought.
you set the timer on your phone, making your way over to the couch. man, baking really wore you out.
as you waited for the cake to finish in the oven, you continued to think about how you wanted to tell vinnie the news. you’ve seen a bunch of people buy a onesie or other baby gear and surprise their partner with it, but you figured that had been too overdone. you wanted to do something different, something more you.
your thoughts were interrupted by the timer going off and you excitedly walked back into the kitchen, ready to eat this cake.
you took it out of the oven, only giving it a couple minutes to cool, not feeling particularly patient.
as you began covering it with loads of frosting, you realized you should write a message on the cake to tell vinnie he was going to be a dad.
you thought it was perfect. you love cake. vinnie loves your cake. it couldn’t get better than this.
although before you could continue decorating, you heard your stomach growling. it wanted cake, and it wanted it now. vinnie won’t mind if i take just a slice, you convinced yourself.
you cut yourself one tiny piece, thinking that would be enough to satisfy your cravings. it wasn’t. by the time your belly was full almost a third of the cake was gone. “whoopsies,” you giggled at the realization.
even with the big chunk missing, you still wanted to surprise vinnie using it. you didn’t have any ideas otherwise.
so you made do with what you had, using a little tube of green icing you found to write a special message for your husband. but you were quickly running out of room, leaving you to have to cut it short.
once you were done, you stepped back to examine your masterpiece.
you looked down at the already eaten cake that was messily decorated with the phrase, “UR A DAD!” it made you laugh how bad it was.
let’s just say you would never make it through the first round of “the great british baking show”.
it was then that you heard the jiggling of keys and the front door being pushed open. you quickly moved the cake out of sight before vinnie would see it and ruin the surprise.
vinnie entered the room seconds later, making his way over to greet you. “hi baby. how was your day?” he said, leaning in to kiss you. “mm, you taste like chocolate,” he smiled after pulling away.
“it was good. i made a cake!” you replied excitedly.
“oh yeah?” he grinned, “can i have some?” he began walking further into the kitchen in search of said cake.
“no, no!” you answered quickly while guiding him out of the kitchen and into the living room. “i wanna here about your day first. how’d the photo shoot go?”
he sat on the couch, and you plopped down, making yourself comfortable on his lap. “it was really good. everyone there was great, and they let me have more creative control than most other companies i’ve shot with have. it was amazing. i hope they ask me back.”
you watched vinnie with the biggest smile on your face. it made you so proud to see how far he’s come, and how happy he was doing it.
“that’s great, my love. i can’t wait to see how the photos turn out. i bet you look so handsome.” you ran your fingers through his hair. “my pretty boy,” you cooed, placing a kiss to his nose.
“now can i have some of your cake?” he questioned, trying to distract you from how much he was blushing.
“yes! i’ll go get it, you stay right here. i decorated it special just for you,” you explained as you entered the kitchen, picking up the cake.
you slowly made you way back over to vinnie, tilting it towards him so he could fully see what was written on it. “ta-da!”
vinnie looked from the mess of a cake up to you, clearly confused. “i’m pregnant!” you exclaimed, realizing the cake didn’t really do it’s job.
vinnie’s jaw dropped at your words. “you’re serious?! you’re not fucking with me, right?”
“no, i’m not fucking with you. we’re going to have a baby, vin!”
he grabbed the cake from your hands, carefully sitting it on the coffee table next to you. he then pulled you in, picking you up and spinning you around. “oh my god! we’re gonna have a baby! i can’t believe it!”
he quickly put you down, not wanting to be too rough now that you were carrying a baby. his baby!
you noticed he had started to tear up while staring down at your belly with so much love in his eyes. “awe, vin. don’t cry.” you whispered as you whipped the tears from his face.
“i’m just so happy. we’re going to have a baby! all i’ve ever wanted was to start a family with you and now it’s actually happening! there’s going to be a mini you or me running around soon enough! can you believe it?”
he was now kneeling in front of you, reaching to lift your his shirt. “can i?” he asked quietly.
“of course. i’m not showing much. i mean i don’t know exactly but i think i’m only four weeks along.”
“our trip to italy?” he asked rhetorically, smiling at the memory of that first night. he then pulled your shirt up, kissing you all over your belly.
“stop baby, that tickles.” you giggled, trying to push him away. although it didn’t work too much.
“hi baby bean. it’s me, your dad. i know you probably can’t hear me but i wanted to tell you how much i love you. i can’t wait to meet you, but in the meantime time be good to your mommy. she’s the most amazing woman, you are one lucky kid. me and mommy love you so so much. we’ll talk later, okay? mwah!” he placed one more exaggerated kiss right above your belly button.
you couldn’t help but tear up hearing vinnie talk to your baby, your little bean. you knew already he was going to be the best dad.

If I let you go - Cillian Murphy x reader
One shot
Master list
A/N: So, I finally got this out of my soul ☺️ this is something like a parallel to The Photoshoot (but with a twist) you’ll find another note in the end from me 😉 because I don’t want to ruin the fun for you! Also if you don’t follow that story don’t worry it’s nothing related
✨ The beginning of the story it’s like “present time” then you will find a flashback to their story -don’t worry I marked where it starts and where it ends everything in italics- and the last part is back to present time following right before where the flashback started.
I used the If I let you go song by Westlife for inspiration (this live version is amazing!)
Tumblr media
On that Sunday morning you couldn’t believe the pregnancy test over the counter came back as positive.
This couldn’t be happening!
Rushing to the clinic that a friend of yours owned, you asked her to run the ultrasound as soon as possible to confirm it.
Eleven weeks and a half, she had announced.
You had only been with Cillian officially for a month, met him the previous one, Mar made you go date after date for two weeks before that.
But now something bigger than you was growing inside your belly.
You heard the heartbeat!
Your plans, your dreams, everything became less important now, you were carrying a new life inside of you regardless of the situation and circumstances.
It took you some time to process the news, staying in complete silence, your friend offered a comforting hand when you needed it the most. You even had a some wine during the dates! Not knowing you were pregnant, how irresponsible! Even though your friend and now gynecologist too assured you the baby was healthy and perfect, you had a million questions, you never skipped your period, how would you tell your parents?
She scheduled another appointment in a couple of days to run more tests and give you important indications given the unplanned pregnancy.
But you drove back home with only one thing in mind.
How would you tell Cillian?
First you ignored his call as you arrived, then his messages asking if you wanted to have lunch at his place, then Marissa’s messages started clogging your phone asking if you were alright and that Cillian called her to see if she knew anything, it was almost noon now.
Ignoring both, you went to take a warm bath, trying to let the news sink in, checking yourself in the mirror your hands moved down to your still flat stomach. You were carrying a baby in there!
George and you broke up in bad terms, hurting each other so much, love was no longer a priority, but you always knew you wanted to be a mother, at some point you visited a fertility clinic to ask information about sperm donors, but as Marissa heard that, she started setting you up in several dates to help you change your mind, she was convinced you would actually find someone good to have everything you wanted.
That’s when Cillian came along and changed everything you believed in.
But your relationship was only starting, you just began sleeping together, you didn’t even know his family, he had met yours once… nevertheless, you wouldn’t lie to him about the baby.
The silence of your mind and flat was interrupted by his voice calling for you from the door, knocking several times.
“I was deadly worried about you, Y/N. Thought something bad happened.”
“Well, that depends of the point of view.”
“You’re scaring me, why didn’t you answer the phone?” He looked at your pale skin, there were worried lines all over your face.
You asked him to sit down without looking into his eyes.
“I’m pregnant, Cillian.” You finally blurted out, terrified of his reaction. “And it’s obviously not yours because we just started sleeping together this weekend.”
There, you said it after he asked you why you weren’t answering his calls or messages, thinking he did something wrong or disrespected you over the first night you spent together.
It was your ex-boyfriend’s baby, after being together for six years, that relationship could only end up in a breakup, and it was better late than ever.
But just as you decided to start officially a relationship with Cillian after weeks of dating, you bought a pregnancy test at the pharmacy that morning. And the result of it would probably change everything between you.
***
(Flashback)
“You didn’t have to go into all this trouble just to get me another date.”
“No trouble at all, it’s a shame you felt bad in the middle of my birthday celebration last week, you would’ve met him there, he arrived just after you left.” Mar stormed into your walk in closet as if it was hers.
“In case you didn’t notice, there was a hit of sarcasm.”
She ignored you completely on purpose, focused on helping you get ready for the date in which she set you up.
“Just meet him, smile a little bit, have a chat… it’s not so hard Y/N.” Marissa, your best friend pleaded while walking back with a couple of options for you to wear.
“That’s what you said in the last eight times you set me up with someone, you’ve a terrible taste in men.” In the men she introduced you to at least, because Ian, her boyfriend was the perfect match for her.
“This one is different, I promise you.”
Checking over your shoes, she picked some nude stilettos.
Tumblr media
“Hmm.”
“A little cheering would make you seem more attractive you know?”
Sighting, you decided to do your own make up, if you let your friend do it, she would hang a for sale sign around your neck. And besides, your tastes were so different.
“I could write a book of all the terrible and ridiculous stories I’ve heard from all your candidates, you know what, Mar?” You started to change your clothes into the ones she picked. “I could actually make a lot of money if I ever decide to write a book with advice for women going out on set up dates by their best friends with the most pathetic men out there.”
“It was only one mistake, you’re exaggerating things.”
“Hugh called his mother to ask what he should have for dinner!” You stated. “Should I also remind you that Paul was a complete knob and rude to the poor waitress?”
“Paul was going through a rough day.”
The list could go on. “And what about-”
Marissa interrupted you. “Alright, I get it you don’t have to rub it in my face. I was just trying to help you see the fishes in the sea.”
“What if I’m allergic to sea food?”
“Stop! Just go to this freaking date.” She was losing her patience.
“Jesus, calm down…” You looked at her through the mirror.
“I promise you this is the perfect match for you.”
“You shouldn’t try so hard, I probably have a bad-luck spell on love.” Or very high expectations for the matter.
Marissa preferred to call you picky. Nevertheless, she drove you to the pub you chose and left chirping excitedly wishing you to have fun. Telling your name, you were guided to a booth close to the wall, not a lot of people around.
Trying to not create high expectations about this date, you decided to ask the only question that really mattered.
“Is he a good man?”
The smile she gave you, sent shivers down your spine.
***
“Y/N?” The man asked getting up to greet you.
The first thing you noticed was his smile, the corners of his lips lifting up.
It was inviting and warm, making you feel at home instantly.
“Yes.” You nodded smiling back.
“Marissa has been talking a lot about you, I’m Cillian.”
Mentally, you thanked your best friend for encouraging you to use your favorite perfume, because you noticed the little instant when he took a deep breath while kissing your cheek.
“She’s been talking about you as well.”
“Only the good things, I hope.” The smile reached his eyes and he asked what you wanted to drink.
The night went surprisingly smooth, you had an incredible endless chat, never stopping because of weird moments of silence, all the contrary, you easily engaged over one topic and another, he was such an interesting man and listened to you intensely, he was really engaged in conversation.
You both agreed on even asking for some appetizers to share.
You learned he had divorced a couple of years ago, no unnecessary drama, no kids, no hard feelings and he listened to you when you told him about your recent breakup after a very long relationship.
“Before the night ends, would it be okay if I want to see you again, Y/N?”
You played with your hair a little in a nervous reaction.
“I’d like that.” You couldn’t stop the words, you were captivated by him, the rest of the world disappeared.
He was equally into you, grateful that you had a light character, he was lost in your eyes and smile.
“Where have you been all this time?” He asked while his thumb toyed around his glass.
“Making bad decisions.” You chuckled a little.
He gave you again that smile. “I hope this isn’t cataloged as a bad one.”
“No, I’ll actually thank Mar for this.”
“I’m curious, why did you choose this pub?” He leaned forward as if waiting for you to share a secret.
“Well, Mar has been setting me up in several da-thons, you know for date and marath-”
He laughed and clapped at your made-up word. “I got it.” Slowly, he ran his fingers through his locks.
“And I don’t feel comfortable when I try to split the bill for the food and the guy doesn’t want to, also the waitress just keeps coming in to interrupt the conversation, if the date goes wrong you just have a drink and go home or you stay until they turn on the lights…”
“That’s fascinating, which is actually what’s about to happen by the way.” Cillian pointed at the tables around them, the chairs were already up. “So can I call this a successful date if you didn’t ran after the first drink?”
“This is actually danger at its finest.” You had a feeling that Marissa’s matchmaker skills would no longer be necessary. “I made a lot of mistakes in the past, I’d like to take things slow this time though.”
Your legs brushed under the table. When did he place his arm on the top your chair? Behind your back.
“I’ll be a gentleman.” He gave you a small wink and looked intensely into your eyes, he was talking from the heart, you not only had caught his eye, you had his undivided attention, he wanted to know more about you.
All about you actually. “But I’m not splitting the bill for the record.” He added then.
“But-” You started to protest.
“No buts, this is not negotiable, but we can discuss it over dinner whenever you can.”
“Cillian.” You tried to reason with him once you walked out of the pub.
Lifting his hand to interrupt you again, he added: “The only thing I’m splitting with you is dessert.”
You then negotiated to buy him a coffee at least. Which he accepted as an excuse to see you in the next couple of days before you two reached the door of the pub, realizing that time went by in a blink, it was dark now, everything was so quiet. Cillian wanted to make sure you made it safe back to your place, that’s why he insisted on sharing an uber, he’d take you home first, then he would go to his.
“Marissa drove me, she wanted to make sure I wouldn’t run away.” You chuckled.
“How did you meet her?”
“In high school, we became best friends instantly, what about you?”
Even in the dark of the car, you could see him smirking. “So… she knows all the juicy secrets, I might give her call later.”
“You can’t do that!”
When he laughed, you loved the sound of it, it was a deep loud hearty laughter. “Don’t worry I won’t,” he winked again. “We met while I was filming a voice commercial, like around five years ago and we’ve made a couple of collaborations since then.”
That night he behaved like a true gentleman, he wanted to respect your own time and pace and you felt incredibly grateful for that.
But also you were feeling a bit flirty so you placed our hands on his shoulders and kissed him goodbye right in the corner of his lips.
No on his cheek, not fully on the mouth, just a little tease.
“You better go inside if you want me to take this slow.” He warned you in a whisper.
***
The following day you went out with him for the coffee you promised and again, the two of you shared the most fascinating talk; you learning more about his career, he about yours. It felt like catching up with a long-time friend, but you keep noticing the way his eyes moved down to your lips every now and then.
Your friend called at least ten times already, she wanted to know everything about your date and she even called Cillian as well, both of you decided to ignore the messages and calls, but you could picture Mar stomping her foot and pacing around the room going crazy to hear everything about the date. She was probably outside your place now.
Walking with you to your car, Cillian smiled pleased with himself, you already said yes to join him to the Radiohead concert next weekend.
“What? Is Mar bombarding you with messages again?”
“Nothing.” But he kept smiling.
In response you arched your eyebrow, you needed to leave or you would be late.
“Well… see you on Saturday.” As you moved to kiss him goodbye, he surprised you by turning his head to his right and instead of kissing his cheek, your lips ended up pressing together for an instant.
It was just a peck, but you when you saw him smiling the way he did, you knew he moved his head on purpose!
“It was my turn to leave you wanting for more.” And with that, he walked away.
Texting back and forth, long calls once you arrived home and between breaks from work quickly became a regular in the course of the following days.
You could still feel Cillian’s lips against yours.
After the concert, there was another date and another one, a walk around the park with his dog, a quick trip to get your computer to the repair store because you dropped water over it, the two of you spend a lot of time together, teasing each other, Marissa demanded a detailed summary of each date and even suggested a double date to celebrate, which you politely delayed for some weeks. Sometimes she seemed more excited about it than you, but you knew that was her personality.
Cillian had taken seriously your request to take things slowly, he didn’t demand anything, never tried to push you to do something, but there was a point when in the middle of a random conversation you noticed he wasn’t paying attention at all.
“So it’s okay if I do that?” You tried him.
“Hmm.” He nodded and you didn’t even say anything specific.
“Am I boring you?”
He snapped out immediately from dreamland, he had been fantasying about your lips for a while.
“What? No! Sorry I was just miles away.” He suddenly looked away from you.
“Is everything alright?”
Cillian pouted. “I was just thinking how it’s been great getting to know you like this, Y/N… but truth is I need more, I want to make this official.” He pointed at the space between the two of you. “And we can take this as slow as you want, but I want to know that we’re both willing to do anything to give this a try.” He took the glass of wine from your hand and went back to look into your eyes. “I don’t want to you to feel any pressure, but-”
“I want the same thing, Cillian.” You confirmed him, taking his hand. “And I also want to thank you for following my pace and-”
But he stopped your words as he held your head and brought his lips to yours in a proper kiss, then dropping feather-like kisses all over your face you felt happier than ever.
Pulling away after a while you couldn’t stop the smile decorating your face, both were unable to find the right words so you let your lips do the talking and pulled him close for another one.
***
For some weeks he kept his promise to respect your time, until one night you finally gave in into the desire that had been building since the beginning.
After having diner in his place, he suggested you choose a movie, but it wasn’t really interesting and your bodies were already close, one side look turned into a smile, and the smile became a kiss, then hands started to move around, everywhere, until clothes hindered you and he ended guiding you to his bedroom. Soon you were under his body, moaning his name, feeling like you could explode from the pleasure any minute.
Enjoying every move, every touch until you couldn’t take it anymore. After reaching his own release and barely after a couple of minutes from pulling out from your body, you went again for another round.
It was a dream, finding him at the right time, at the best moment of your life.
He made you feel happy, safe, always in a cheerful mood, he made your life easier and you also loved that he was a good listener, you loved every time he showed you the new book he bought or a film that no one else would watch.
Cillian made you believe in love again.
(End of flashback)
There was a heavy silence after you told him the news of your pregnancy and that the father was George, your ex boyfriend. Oh, and why not? That you were keeping the baby.
“I know everything seems so confusing right now, but I didn’t cheat on you, I got pregnant, we broke up and then I met you, that’s the short version of the story.”
He remained in silence, his elbows resting over his knees, his face between his hands.
“I’m sorry this is happening, the last thing I want is to hurt you, but I hope you understand my priorities are different now, damn everything is different now! I’m really sorry.”
You didn’t want to let go of the best of your life, but you couldn’t ask him to stay with you either. You were pregnant with someone else’s baby after all.
“Hopefully one day, you’ll forgive me… either way I want to thank you for giving me back all the things I didn’t know I was missing.” You swallowed hard.
Cillian felt like throwing up. The blood running down his body. This wasn’t what he was expecting when he knocked on your door.
Looking at you, he only found that the words wouldn’t come out.
He needed fresh air, needed a fucking drink.
Taking his keys, he walked out without another word and you knew that was it, that was the end of your love story.
The heartache was nothing you felt before, the man of your life just slipped from you. Walking towards the couch where he previously was sitting, your wrapped your body in the blue jacket he left, it smelled like him and it was still warm. This was the hardest you had ever done in your life and you weren’t sure you could even try to forget him, because even though you had met him for a short period of time, it felt like a lifetime.
***
The following morning Scout brought him the stick he was playing with but Cillian didn’t even pay attention.
Your words had been playing in the back of his mind like a song you can’t get rid of.
But this wasn’t a song, this was life fucking up his plans. He remembered the first time he said I love you, exactly on this spot of the beach after you decided to make your relationship official, it took you a couple of days to say it back, he knew you had your own times and he had promised to not rush you into anything.
But a baby with your ex boyfriend? That was major words.
He knew he loved you, you were funny and he loved he was able to be himself around you, but raising a baby was a completely different thing.
You could have easily fool him if you wanted to, just needed to lie about the timing, but you weren’t like that, that’s why you tried to avoid him most part of the day, he could only imagine how hard it must’ve been for you to open up to him.
Should he just move on and leave you behind? A million possibilities crossed his mind.
Closing his eyes, he allowed the waves crashing down to help him free his mind from all the questions he had, but as he did it, he could only see you smiling back at him.
Was he ready to go on with his life without you in it?
Did he really want to let you go?
Day after day Time pass away And I just can't get you off my mind Nobody knows I hide it inside I keep on searching, but I can't find The courage to show to letting you know I've never felt so much love before And once again I'm thinking about Taking the easy way out But if I let you go, I will never know What my life would be holding you close to me Will I ever see you smiling back at me? (Oh yeah) how will I know if I let you go? Night after night I hear my self say Why can't this feeling just fade away? There's no one like you, you speak to my heart
Knocking desperately on your door, he was growing impatient as there was no answer. Maybe you were at work, he tried calling to your cellphone but it was turned off. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Perhaps you went to Mar’s house, he would drive there, turning around he was about to go when you opened the door.
“Cillian?”
His heart stopped beating at the sight of you; your hair was a mess, there were bags under your eyes and your forehead and cheeks were red as if you had been crying. But he didn’t care, to him you were the most beautiful person in the world.
“I’m sorry I walked out like that.” He kissed you softly on the lips. “I didn’t know what to say.” Another kiss. “Didn’t mean to upset you, I love you.” He kissed you one more time.
“But-” You were confused, your mind was foggy from your sleep after getting up early to throw up.
“Let me tell you this… I got scared at first, but I want us to fight for this, baby included.”
Your eyes went wide open. “Cillian.”
“Listen to me, from the moment I saw you, I knew we would be together and we’ll do everything the way you want to, but I want to be involved, I want to be part of this baby’s life, part of yours, if you want to, we can raise him or her together, and it’ll be alright.”
Now you were the one unable to speak, he was giving you things you didn’t even ask for.
“Are you going to raise someone else’s baby?” You voice broke a little.
“No, I’m raising my baby with you, because I love you and I will love that little one as my own.” You could see that he had been crying too. “It seems like we aren’t taking things slow after all, but that’s just part of life, no matter what, but you’re not alone Y/N.”
“Did you tell Mar yet?” He started calling her that recently after listening to you. You shook your head. “Good, then you can either tell the truth or that the baby is mine, that’s your call.”
His thumbs wiped away the tears that had been falling on your cheeks.
“Are you sure of what you’re saying?” You asked.
“Yes.” He answered in a heartbeat. “And I’m also sure that I can’t let you go.”

A/N2: Finally I was able to put a little ghost to rest with this one shot 😅 if you remember a while ago I gave you 3 choices for “The Photoshoot” asking if Sean was Cillian’s son or not that option included a happy blended family, but you like the drama, so I decided to not leave that beautiful idea go to waste right? So I came up with this little baby. I hope the present time and flashback wasn’t confusing for you, nevertheless if you have any questions you know where to find me!
♥️Please remember your comments and feedback feeds my soul ♥️

Don’t let me down 8 : The reception.
Tumblr media
Dana wasn't feeling well. This evening was supposed to be the beginning of her new life. So… why did she feel so… Empty ?
She thought about her mother, who had abandoned her and her twin sister, who she hadn't spoken to in years. Her mom... Had a dark side, something she couldn't fight against and it destroyed their family.
Her sister became a priest. And she lost contact with other members of her family, including her cousin, Aaron.
Dana wanted to have everything she never had.
“There are a lot of idiots in this world. Love is for the weak, if you want to survive, don't become a weakling. Take everything this world can give, because you will never be given anything. And when you finally have power. Don’t give it to anyone…”
Those were the last words she said to her before she left.
She stood there, her migraines were starting again. Dana looked at Miguel and Sara, who were heading to another room.
Her instinct was to follow them, but Tyler grabbed her arm.
“Is everything okay my dear?”
"Yes. I just need to get some fresh air…I’ll be right back.”
She tried to catch up with them, but they had disappeared.
"Damn it…"
She looked left and right, then heard a “ding”.
The elevator ? They couldn't get there... And normally, there was no one up there.
“...”
Dana sighed and looked outside, then she saw a web and a shadow that she recognized.
A big smile formed on her lips, despite herself.
**
Arriving on the first floor, Sara discovered that Tyler's residence was not a house like any other.
From the outside, it looked like it was a like villa. The ground floor seemed ordinary and luxurious, but there…
Stone family paintings adorned the walls, the rooms along the corridor looked like experimental rooms. All specially designed for Tyler and extend his lifespan.
"How awful…"
She said, finding Tyler's father, asleep, cryogenically frozen...
“Is he.. alive?”
*Yes, artificial coma…*
Lyla warned.
“The Stone family seeks to become immortal ?”
While searching on the computer, Sara found a strange code.
“V.E.N.O.M?”
As she opened the file, a glass cylinder emerged from the ground.
A capsule, containing a black liquid appeared in front of her.
The information that appeared on the computer told her that it was a symbiote, coming from space.
So far, they had not found any hosts compatible with the creature. Loud noises, like music or ultrasound, seemed to subdue him. It is sensitive to fire and this can kill it, as can staying in a cold place without a host. But this should only be used as a last resort...
Sara had just finished downloading, when suddenly her spider senses sensed danger.
She turned around and found herself face to face with Dana, like that evening, when she had tried to steal data from Miguel.
Why hadn't Lyla warned her ?
And why hadn't she heard her coming this time again ?
“Dana?”
She didn't answer, her eyebrows were furrowed, as if she expected to see someone else.
“Dana, are you okay?”
Her eyes had a strange glow.
"I don't understand…"
She finally said.
“Oh… Well I got lost, this place is so big, are you lost too ? Come on, let’s go back downstairs.”
She walked past her, but she grabbed her arm before she could leave.
What a grip !
“Dana… You’re hurting me !”
"Why you…"
"What ?"
“I did everything I could do to get rid of you ! But you are always in my way !”
“...”
“You are like an insect that I cannot crush…”
She threw Sara against the computer, which displayed an error message.
Sara tried to regain her senses. When she tried to find Dana, she was about to hit her with a pipe she had torn off.
“That would be really funny… If it were you ?”
“Dana…”
“Tell me Sara…Is that you ? Are you Spider-man ?”
“...”
She froze and Dana took the opportunity to punch her in the ribs.
She then used the bar of the pipe to try to choke her, but Sara pushed her away, even with her strength she was able to fight.
It’s not normal...
“Dana, I don’t know if it’s because of Miguel but…”
“I’m not Dana !”
This voice... She had heard it before, it's impossible...
Her eyes had turned yellow, a crazy smile stretched her lips... Slowly... Her skin began to change.
“Call me… The Goblin. But… You know who I am, don’t you ?”
“...”
**
Miguel had already finished his exploration, he was going to contact Sara, when a strange sensation ran through his body. And that wasn't normal, because...
He didn't have spider-sense...
He listened to his instinct, an unknown force pushed his body to move quickly to the first floor. That's when the alarm went off.
It wasn't the first time he felt this way... And every time it happened, his heart raced, because it meant...
That Sara was in danger.
**
A storm was beginning to form above the city. Everyone was taking shelter, before the rain fell and among these people, there was a man, his aura was dark, as if death was following him in the shadows.
He was coughing and spitting blood, staggering and starting to hallucinate and yet...
He had a goal...
The rain was already falling when he arrived at Stone’s house. He would only have one chance... Everything was going to be decided tonight.
**
Far from all this, a woman was in Church, beginning a prayer for her twin sister. This person was “Jennifer D’Angelo”. The two sisters had not spoken to each other for years. In fact, she had completely cut ties with her.
Jennifer had seen something in her sister... Something that reminded her of her mother. And it terrified her, because there was nothing she could do about it.
Before, she wasn't like that, her heart was good, but little by little this thing took possession of her mind, pushing her to do nefarious things. As if... There were two of them. And little by little... Dana disappeared...
As she finished her prayer, Jennifer took a small chest in her hands, the key to which she always kept around her neck. It was an item that belonged to their mother and had been in the family for a long time.
A green mask, with horns, lay at the bottom of the chest. The lifeless eyes of the mask seemed to mock her, staring at her, because she was incapable of protecting those she loves.
**
Sara activated her suit and sent a shock to Dana, which made her let go.
"Sorry !"
She tried to run away, the last thing she wanted to do was fight with her.
“And where do you think you’re going like this !?”
She received a blow in the back, a bomb which propelled her against the window, she could have died, crossing it but a web caught her and brought her to safety.
The goblin tried to find her, but she had already disappeared.
Slowly, her anger began to subside, her skin and face regained their natural appearance.
As if waking from a dream, she blinked several times, trying to figure out where she was.
“What… But… What am I doing here ?”
“Dana !”
“Tyler ?”
The director arrived, made sure she was okay, then told his men to keep her safe while they searched for the intruder.
Miguel held Sara in his arms, quickly running to the car, to lay her down in the back.
"Are you ok ?"
“...I hate when she does that, you never see the object coming...”
“I know, luckily you were pretty far from the impact.”
“...”
The police arrived and the guests began to leave the place.
“I’ll take you home.”
He went to sit in the front.
As soon as they left the estate, she wanted to ask him this question...
“Miguel…”
“...”
“You saw her, didn’t you?”
"...Yes."
“Do you want to talk about it ?”
He sighed, his hands tightening around the steering wheel.
“That explains… Some things. But... She doesn't know what she's doing. I don't think she ever realized it. Maybe that’s why she said it wasn’t her fault ?”
“...”
“Another person I couldn’t help. Maybe if I had been a better fiancé, I would have seen what was wrong, I could have helped her…”
“Miguel…”
“It is nevertheless true. I wanted a simple life, a job, to start a family, I wanted to escape my past, just to be happy…”
They came to a traffic light. Sara took the opportunity to stand up and sit in the front.
“That’s why… I never dared to get closer to you.”
She widened her eyes.
"I'm sorry."
His outfit was still wet from the rain, but tears were about to fall...
Sara moved her hand to his.
“I forgave you a long time ago.”
It was his turn to widen his eyes.
“Dana was already like that, it’s not because of you if she changed. You loved her, and I know you still do.”
“...”
“Maybe we can still save her.”
“...”
“The goblin has been around for a long time, maybe I can find a way to separate her from Dana’s mind…”
“Do you want to help her?”
“I know you don’t want to lose her.”
Miguel looked at her sadly.
“Don’t worry about me Miguel, I know you can’t give me what I want…”
He tightened his fingers around hers.
"I do not want to hurt you. Not again…"
"I know."
The rest of the trip was silent.
When they arrived in front of her apartment, she didn't come down right away.
"What are you going to do ?"
“Analyzing the data is all we need for the end of Alchemax.”
“...Let me know if you find anything.”
"I will."
“...Call your brother.”
"For what ?"
“Because he was worried about tonight and… If you tell him what happened he will come.”
“...”
“You are not alone Miguel, we care about you, I…”
He took her in his arms.
“Just… Stay a little longer, please…”
He buried his face in her neck, she felt the tears fall.
"Okay…"
“...I don’t want to lose you again.”
“You won’t lose me, I…”
She stopped.
She thought about walking away but Miguel held her tighter.
"I know…"
Her heart beat harder, she got out of her seat to come to his, she stayed in his arms for long minutes, neither of them wanted to leave the other.
**
During the fight between Sara and Dana, the strange capsule that contained the symbiote broke.
The creature crawled and snuck towards the window, which was left open.
He had to find a host as quickly as possible to stay alive. The alien found a man... He seemed in bad shape, but he was alive. If he healed him, that might be enough.
He was arrested by the police, following the accident earlier. They found him suspicious, he was armed and on top of that, he was the man they were looking for, for another matter...
The poor target had his back turned, suspecting nothing. He approached slowly...
And the carnage began.

Fundraiser for cats medical bills
Hi, I'm Eren, the owner of two delightful cats. Yato, the white and grey cat, is nearly 7 years old and has IBD. He's a lovable yet shy feline who enjoys attention and lounging anywhere he can. Yato has a soft spot for lettuce and is currently dealing with dental issues that need attention.
On the other hand, Astral, our brown cat, is almost 3 years old. Known for her dramatic yet cuddly nature, she enjoys spending time with grandma and anyone willing to pet her. Astral, also referred to as "Floof", has a larger-than-life personality that's loved by all who meet her.
Recently, Astral's routine blood work for a dental procedure revealed elevated calcium and kidney levels, which were even higher than last year. These findings were concerning, especially since she became lethargic and started sleeping excessively last year before her first blood work. Her first tests from last year didn’t give us any answers. This year she has been acting like her happy and cuddly self with the only concern being her weight loss from 9 to 7 pounds. But this still was a concern.
Due to her weight loss and more elevated tests, the vet recommended we take her to the ER, where she was found to have a fever. After some tests and an ultrasound, we still don't know what's causing these abnormal results. However, we have a treatment plan in place.
With all these medical needs, we require assistance in covering the bills. Any form of help, be it financial or sharing our GoFundMe, would be greatly appreciated!
The GoFundMe goal will include the costs of the ER visits, any other vet bills from Astral's kidney/calcium levels, and the dental estimate for Yato. If any surplus remains after settling all the bills, I will contact the donors whose funds were not utilized (you can also leave a message and tell me what you wish). They will have the option to receive a refund, I will donate your dono to help other pets in need or allow the funds to be used for spoiling the cats with toys and more.

4/1/24
6:58 p.m Updated/Added to/Edited
I did the thyroid ultrasound and returned my Oakley glasses which makes me feel a lot better about getting 15% back on both purchases due to the anti reflective blue streaking.
I got 15% back on both purchases- the 2 pairs of Beau frames and the Ray-Bans. I'm getting my new Ray-Bans soon and the rimless. I ended up getting refunded 47$ in Total.
So I spent 229$ on two pairs of Ray-Bans, two pairs of Beau and the rimless. I feel like an asshole sorta but at least I sent back the Oakley. I could have gotten away with keeping them and I know it. I couldn't live with myself. I felt too much like an asshole and I couldn't wear the Oakley anyways.
Beyond that I'm not lying about the anti reflective blue streaking and then my Ray-Bans are somehow covered in scratches God knows how. I never dropped them. I use a microfiber cloth and I wash them in cold water and soap....so I'm not an asshole.
And beyond that the case came with the lined inner fabric covered in black specks.... for both the Oakley and Ray-Bans which I complained about which is why they are sending me a new case as well.
So I'm getting the rimless, an extra pair of Ray-Bans and a case with that 15% back. The Ray-Bans come with a specialty case. The rimless will come with the free of charge case they are giving me. I know the eyebuy case will be clean, I just hope the Ray-Bans speciality one is. I just hope the lenses and case are up quality and clean especially the lenses with no blue streaking and no scratches.
I don't see them unless the sun hits them a certain way and mostly I don't..... like 99% of the time I do not see it... but this is the issue with being a glasses wearer besides being labeled as a nerd. They get dirty easily. They are hard to clean and the lenses from online orders are not always perfect.
Next year I'm bringing my two Ray-Bans to lenscrafters and having them make my lenses. And I'll just get half frames from eyebuy and Maybe rimless if I like the look.
Anyways end rant about my glasses.
I'm talking to Reilly. She asked about work. I came up with I am thinking about getting my PhD, not a total lie and that I want to be a stay at home dad. I mean she has 4 kids and that last part of it is the truth. She might be losing interest. She recommended teaching assistant jobs. Like lady, you got 4 kids. One is a fucking one year old and I'm spelling it out, i would stay home and take care of them and bring them everywhere and all I want is love in return and to feel like I have a family.. If I'm not good enough for you fuck off.
I'm still in love with Elise anyways. It's just Reilly is the only pretty girl I've matched with. I guess I'm going to have to be single for a while.
This week I'm like wait I did the ultrasound. I got phone calls. Omg I don't have to leave the house other than for groceries??? I mean I may do the MacBook soon...
I'm in awee. I do got to get that inhibitor test scheduled I'm waiting on my doctor. I also got to get my Xanax on Friday.. but it's renewable tomorrow. I won't pick it up until Friday.
I called my endo and told him about my muscle spasms and said I'd like to get to the eye doctor asap. I'm awaiting his call. He usually is prompt so I don't know what's going on but I left a message and said I'm not taking the statin anymore unless he wants me to try it for a few more days and if it happens again I'm not going to take Ibuprofen constantly to stop muscle spasms.
I am still trying to get my disability appt rescheduled. I called but they can't do later then 1:30...... I could be losing backpay I really don't know what to do. Maybe my alarm will wake me up but it's the same day as my quest appt. I'm going to feel fucking shitty....
Also in regards to Mike I wrote out lists. Pros and cons.... I'm going to stick it out and see him for maybe a couple more weeks. I'm not going to tell him why I'm leaving as I want him on my side and I don't want to yell at him again cause I want to leave him on the report.
I know he will say, "Nathan can't work on his ocd bc of the auditory hallucination. The voice makes his ocd worse. Yet His functionality is impressive. He gets a lot done and more than he did before psychosis. He is intelligent, proactive and completely based in reality."
I did tell him about Elise the whole story in February and I told him never to tell anyone and he said, "I never would, but now I don't think you were delusional at all. Now I understand exactly why you thought she was going to show up for you. Tbh I think she may one day but I know you don't want to believe anymore. Despite this, you were never delusional considering this whole story. I think she may have feelings for you."
So what I'm going to do is lie and say I found another voice hearing therapist and that bc I can't focus on my ocd, I need to work on coping with my hallucination ruining my quality of life. And I'll come back when I recover.
So I can tie it all in a bow and leave on good terms and make sure when they call him he will support me in a positive way.
I hate that I got to see him for a couple more weeks but I feel I need to. I just won't make eye contact and I'll talk at him. I'm good at talking at people.
I'm going to just stick with Erin and hopefully Danielle will reach out to other therapists otherwise I'll go to therapy 2 days a week with Erin until I can stomach the dehumanization, stigmatization and discrimination of being a transman who hears voices.
It's just not worth it to me, to keep seeing Mike and its even more not conductive to my mental health to be rejected by so many therapists and out myself at the moment. I personally cannot deal with the stigma, the dehumanization and the discrimination.
Yet I need 3 days a week but I've got to put myself first. Mike I've given a fair chance, over a year now and I can't fucking stand him. It's not his fucking penis. It's his personality and therapy. I often get mad and upset after our appts. That's not how it's supposed to be.
Anyways, I've been obsessed with this song, "shape shift" by Silverstein.... it somewhat reminds me of Elise not really but parts of it.
"I don't know if there is a difference between who you are and who you pretend to be. I never stood a chance here did I?"
"I only see what you want me to see."
It feels somewhat cruel. I don't think she pretended to be anyone. I think I saw her soul. I just think she can't be here right now. Although I do believe I never stood a chance.
I believe I shouldn't believe in her in regards to romance anyways but I only see what she wants me to see. And she's given me reason to believe in friendship at least..
I get we have a tricky situation between our relationship and my feelings. Although if you're here and you listen, I do believe in you. I believe in those eyes.

A story about a girl wanting to find out the truth
A/n: Fifth chapter, here we go. (And just a reminder again, this is all reposted from my main blog so I have it on here as well and everyone can read them!)
Warnings: none
Milly's POV:
It was a real wonder I made it home safely with all the tears messing up my sight while driving. I sat at the house for at least 2 hours, but no one ever came or saw me. Not a single soul. So, as lonely and broken as I was, I decided to drive back home. To Calum. I didn’t quite know how to feel about him. Will he be mad? Will he be happy when I return?
I parked my car in front of our huge house and checked my Make-Up before I stepped out of the car. Like I expected- A complete mess. It was impossible for me to fix, so Calum will basically notice right away that I'm not feeling so good, that something bad happened. But is that really that bad? Calum has always been a very caring boyfriend who always wanted to make sure I'm okay, even though he tends to get a bit too worried about me sometimes.
Still, there is only one way to find out, what has happened in the time, I was away. Stepping in front of the door, I took my keys out of my pocket and opened the door.
"…he can talk to her" was the first thing I heard when I stepped into the house. I immediately spotted Calum in the living room on the sofa, which you could see from the front door. He was on the phone, talking to someone, but right now, his eyes only laid on me. I laid my keys down, slipped out of my shoes and jacket and walked towards him, already preparing myself for the worried asks, what has happened to me. But, against all my expectations, Calum just handed me his phone without saying a single word.
"Hello?" I asked softly in the speaker, having no idea which voice to expect to hear now.
"Hello Milly. Would you mind, if I’d give you to Lou so he can talk to you?" That was Harry's voice. Why is he talking to my boyfriend? These two haven’t had a conversation since 2017.
"Sure. Is everything okay?"
He sighed.
"Well, I should better ask you that question…" before I could ask him, what he meant with that, Louis held the phone.
"Mildred Tomlinson, what were you thinking? Only leaving that single, confusing message behind and not answering your phone for the next 8 hours?" Wow, that felt like an actual bomb exploded right next to me. Calum probably felt it too because he put his arm gentle around my waist, giving me a safe feeling.
"Louis, I—" I thought he was the one, who understood my decision, who'd help me no matter what. I totally did not expect this, any of this.
“I knew this would only cause trouble! You do know I'm the one who should protect you, right? But you make it very hard for me to try and not loose you like we lost Fizz." He said, getting more angry with every word he said.
He brought Fizz into this. He mentioned her.
"Louis, if you haven’t noticed, I am 25 years old. I don’t need your protection and you will never ever use Fizz, our Fizz, as an example like this ever again! She was my sis too.” At the last sentence my voice cracked like it never did before which only caused Calum to hug me even tighter and my eyes filled with tears again.
"Milly, then at least tell me what you found out today. Was it worth making me worry so much?" You could hear how he was just waiting for me to tell him I screwed up. A big lump started to form in my throat as soon as I saw the ultrasound images in front of my inner eye and how I basically found out nothing. I stared into nothing, thought going absolutely crazy. What should I say now? Should I share the only piece of my parents that I have with them?
"I can end this call if you’re too uncomfortable" I frightened at Cals voice being so close to my ear as he whispered the words to me. But I shook my head.
"As you said, I sent you a message, being not entirely useless since you probably read I was at the youth welfare office. They didn’t give me much, names and an address. And they were married and lived together at the time. I drove to the house and… um—“ The tears streaming down my face made it really hard for me to continue talking. I tried to order my thoughts and what I wanted to say.
"The house was empty." I mumbled under my breath. I hid my face in my own hands and cried, soft sobs coming out of my mouth. I told everyone I will do this alone and that I will succeed. But as always I'm a failure, the black sheep of the family, not belonging to anyone. Only causing problems.
Ignoring Calum, who moved closer to me, both of his huge arms wrapped around me, I tried to fumble the 4 little pictures put of my pockets.
My eyes only focused on these tiny leftover images, I said:
"I’m sorry Louis. You are right, I only cause trouble in this family and make you worry too much. I'll stop, I'll leave you alone now." And clicked on the red button on the phone's display.
Calum’s POV:
It hurts seeing his girlfriend like that, the girl who always wants to be strong for everyone, who wants to be perfect, wants to do everything right. Calum tries explaining to her, that everyone makes mistakes and has weak moments, but she never listens. And one thing Calum knew for sure: Milly is the most afraid of making one of her siblings mad or to give them a reason to think less of her.
That exactly this happened right now, in a moment Calum noticed right away she wasn’t feeling well, made his heart break into a million pieces. She didn’t deserve to hear all of the things her brother said to her during that phone call. She didn’t deserve to find the empty house and the strange looking ultrasound images she holds tightly in her hands.
All he wanted, was to ask her what exactly happened in the last few hours that he wasn’t with her, but deep down he knew, it would only make her even more uncomfortable. So all he did, was sitting there, hugging her from behind and making sure she's safe with him.
"You are an amazing woman, you know that, right?" He whispered into her left ear and didn’t get a reaction.
"Mills? You do know that, right?" He asked one more time, watching her closely.
"Cal, I never did anything correctly." She then whispered back. That response made everything in his body shake.
"Milly, never say that again! You maybe made one mistake right now, by not checking your phone. But you did it, you tried finding them." He said, in an attempt to comfort his girlfriend.
"…But—“
"Nah, there is no 'but'." He interrupted her and took a deep breath. "Who cares, you didn’t find out much! You did it, you had the strength to go and take the first step!" His arms still around her, he looked at her face, noticing a slight change in her face expression.
"Do I see a small smile on your beautiful lips there?” He asked her cheekily. She chuckled at that sentence and cuddled back into the strong body of her boyfriend, feeling more relaxed.

Donors & Surrogacy
The weight loss is achieved by decreasing the scale of the stomach making it the dimensions of an egg and re-routing the small gut to a small abdomen pouch. Patients are still suggested to eat healthy afterwards as a end result of the surgical procedure does the 50% and healthy consuming does the rest”. This is a story of two duckling households who had been associates; one mother duck was able to lay six eggs and one mom duck could not lay any. Seeing that her good friend was so sad as a result of she couldn't lay any eggs, she determined to offer two of her six eggs to her eggless pal.

All the egg donors are young healthy women under 35 years of age. Thousands of ladies have poor egg high quality, and battle to get pregnant using their own eggs. Part 2: Dispatch: Labour in Progress
----
“How does the baby look ?” Maddie was laid back, her eyes on the monitor. “Perfect, a perfect little baby” you smile at her as you hand her a towel to wipe up the gel.
“How many copies would you like ?” you turn towards the ultrasound machine.
“As many as you'd give me” she laughed, pulling her shirt back down.
“Dad’s working ?” you asked, leaning back in the chair. “Yeah, he’s been trying to get off a day to come with me” she sits up, pulling out her phone.
Maddie was one of your favourite patients, she was a sweetheart and always happy, regardless of what was happening, you didn't know how she did it. She began showing you a few pictures of the nursery and two guys who were in the picture. The first guy was Chimney, who was the baby’s father and Maddie’s boyfriend, the two of you had met at a previous appointment and the other guy, who you hadn't meant yet but felt like you had, was her brother Evan or Buck, which is what he went by.
“You know, if you want to just come in one day when he's off work, we can just do a regular check-up just so he can see. It doesn’t have to be anything special for you to come in”
“You’d do that ?”
“Of course I would, between me and you, you’re my favourite patient”
Maddie smiled at you, “so,” she gave you a look, “since I am your favourite patient, would you also go on a date with Buck ?” she asked, you nearly choked on your coffee. Maddie had a habit of trying to set you up with her brother. She did it often but it still caught you off guard each time. You coughed, “Maddie, no.” you laughed, “that would be unprofessional”
“Oh come on, take a risk y/n. Life goes on and one date won't kill you”
“Who said I’m looking ?”
“Please, you are. You can't lie to me” she smiled, you shook your head. “Still a no Maddie” you handed her the copies of the ultrasound. “If you do want to do the ultrasound when he’s home, just give me a call” you smiled at her and she got up. “I will, thank you”
--
A few weeks later and Maddie was back in your office. “Good afternoon momma,” you were looking at the files as you walked in, pushing the door shut with your foot. Taking a seat on your little spinny chair, you look up when Maddie says good morning back to you.
“Oh Chimney, it’s nice to see you” you smile as you shake the gel bottle.
“Yeah,” he chuckled, “it’s good to be here”
You hand him the gel bottle, he looked at you with brows furrowed. “You’re a paramedic, aren't you ? Go ahead” you chuckle as you turn the ultrasound machine on. “How are you feeling ?” you ask, “good actually, thanks for asking” Chim answers you.
“I’m glad to hear that but I was asking Maddie” Chim’s mouth forms an O and he nods, Maddie smiles at him. “I’m good, baby’s good too. Kicking a lot recently. Especially when I drink orange juice” she chuckled.
“And still just the one cup of coffee ?”
“Yeah, he won’t let me have anymore” she groans
“Good, as he should be. You’re lucky I agreed to the one cup Maddie, you know I rather if you didn’t”
“Ugh,” she groaned and rolled her eyes, “not you too”
“I’m your doctor, it's my job to remind you unfortunately”
Maddie sighs and rolls her eyes once again. You get what she meant, you couldn’t be pregnant and not have coffee, pregnancy is exhausting as it is, imagine it without coffee. “you know how to use an ultrasound machine right ?” you look over at Chimney, who was looking rather confused.
”I do, why ?”
“Would you like to do it ?”
“Really ?”
“Yeah, I let the dads have a chance to do it sometime. Makes them feel a little more involved”
“I'd love too”
You hand him the wand and step back, you watch as he rolls it across her belly. It was always sweet when the fathers came to the appointment, even more so when they're involved.
“Y/n?”
“Yes Maddie?”
“Will you go on a date with Buck ?” She smiled sweetly at you, Chim looked at her, half shocked and half confused.
“If I say yes to one date, will you quit bugging me about it ?”
“Of course, just one date is all I’m asking for”
“Does he know you’re setting him up ?”
“Yeah- well no ? but he won't mind. It's part of my job as his sister”
“Maddie, I have siblings as well, you don't see me setting them up”
“Yeah yeah, that’s fine”
Chim turned to you. “everything looks good doc”
“Then we’re all done. Just hit print on the machine and you’ll get the pictures”
Maddie wiped the gel off her stomach. She took a pen from the desk and scribbled a number down before handing the paper to you. “That’s his number, just message him”
“You’re setting me up and I have to message him too ?”
“Oh come on, you’ll be fine. Thank you for this and I'll be expecting details at my next appointment!” She gave you a smile before walking out. Chim looked at you, “I’m sorry I didn't know she was going to do that.” You laughed, “it's okay, she’s not the first person to do that. You should catch up with her though, she walks really fast for a pregnant lady” you chuckle, Chim smiled and walked out to find Maddie. You had some time to kill before your next appointment, you looked down at the paper in your hand.
Do you text or not ? Wouldn't that be creepy ? Like oh hey, I'm your sister’s doctor let's go on a date.
You know what ?
Screw it, what’s the worst that could happen.
To Buck: Hey, I'm y/n. Your sister gave me your number, hope this isn't weird. She's been trying to set me up with you for months, thought we’d hit it off haha
God that was so stupid. Why the hell did you put haha ?
From Buck: Hey, it’s cool. She’s weird like that. What’s up ?
Oh shit, he answered.
To Buck: Just at work, how about you ?
From Buck: Same thing
Wait what do I say now ? Do you ask him out ?
From Buck: Hope this isn't too forward of me or anything like that, but maybe you’d wanna grab a drink tonight ? Only if you’re free
Guess you don't have to ask him now
To Buck: Yeah, that sounds good. Pick a place and let me know ? I’m off at 4 so anytime after that is fine.
From Buck: I’m off at 6, how about 7 at the bar on Main Street ?
To Buck: sounds good, see you then
It was now 3:30 and Maddie was your last patient of the day. There was no harm in leaving now. After putting away your files and replying to a few emails from patients, you headed out. Only one issue you had when you got home was what to wear.
Well so you thought.
Taking a shower was the easy part, trying to do your hair and makeup with only 2 hours left, was a bit of a hassle. First disaster of the night was too much mousse in your hair, making it sticky and tacky. Washing it out, you managed to set it the way you like. The powder compact had fallen onto the floor, you hoped it wasn’t broken, turns out hope isn't enough. The other powder you had was far too light for your complexion right now and you decide against makeup for the night.
Let him meet the bare you, you can wow him next time, if there is a next time.
Deciding on a simple outfit, a white shirt that fit you nicely and a pair of black pants that went along with it. In your head, it seemed boring but in the mirror, it looked much better. Walking into the kitchen, there was a half drunk glass of wine from the night before.
Stale wine or nervous wreak ? Stale wine it is.
You down the wine, spilling some onto your shirt. “Are you kidding-” groaning and turning back to the room, you end up changing your entire outfit. A pair of blue jeans and a black top that fit you in all the right places. One more look in the mirror and a hand through your hair, you headed out the door.
It didn't take you long to arrive at the bar, as you only lived a few minutes off Main Street. You had seen Buck from the countless pictures Maddie had shown you so it didn’t take long to spot in at a table in the corner either.
“Hey” you walked over, a smile on your face. He stood up, “Hi! you must be y/n” he leaned in for a hug, you mirrored his actions. “I am, it’s nice to meet you”
The two of you sat across from each other and there was a bottle of beer in front of you. Buck spoke up when he noticed you noticing the bottle, “I ordered for you, I hope that's alright- you can order something else”
“It’s fine, thank you” you take a sip, not your usual choice in drink but you didn't need to complain either. There was some silence for a while, not uncomfortable but not comfortable either. Anyone that passed by could tell it was a first date, if you could even call it that.
“How do you know Maddie ?” he asks, you smile at him and take a sip of the beer before answering him.
“I’m her OB”
“Her ?” Buck had a confused expression on his face.
“Her doctor, her obstetrician actually”
“Oh for baby Buckley” he nodded.
“Yeah, she's been bugging me about you since we’ve met actually. She’s sweet but she’s persistent” you chuckle and Buck gives you a smile, “that’s my sister”
The night went by rather quickly, the two of you sharing work stories. Buck told you about the time he worked a full moon and they responded to a call at a yoga class only to have 3 women go into labour simultaneously.
“It was the full moon I swear! I tried to tell Bobby but he didn't listen to me!” he said, laughing.
You nodded and laughed too, “no, it’s true. I've had so many full moon babies. I never book off full moons because I know someone is going to go into labour”
“Thank you! Someone gets what I mean!”
You then told him about the time you filled in for your colleague, he told you it was supposed to be a regular birth but turns out it was quadruplets. It was nice to find someone who understood your weird work schedule. The two of you shared stories until the waitress came over to tell you that they’d be closing in a few minutes. It was a little past midnight when she came over, the two of you decided to call it a night and head out together.
“How are you getting home ?” he asked you, you walked with him over to his Jeep that was parked down the street. “I’ll just walk, I don’t live too far from here”
“No” he stated while shaking his head
“No ?” you questioned him, your brows furrowed as you looked at the man in front of you.
“I invited you out, at least let me take you home. It’s late too, it won't be right to let you walk home by yourself”
“Are you sure ? I don't want you to go out of your way”
“Oh no it’s cool, c’mon”
He opened the door for you like the gentlemen he is and then got in after. “Which way my darling ?” he gave you a cheesy smile which made you chuckle. “A left at the next light and the brown building is me” you leaned back in the seat. It was quiet as he drove down the street, you looked over at him and admired him. From the way his hand rested on his wheel to the little smile on his face, even to the birthmark above his eye.
“It's rude to stare”
“Can't help myself, you're pretty”
Oh shit, did you just-
Buck looked over at you, a wicked little smile on his face. “You think I’m pretty ?”
You could feel the blush on your face, “uh- well- um I guess ?”
“I think you more than guess that but whatever you say” he smiled
Buck pulled into the building parking lot, he stopped and his head hit the seat as he leant back. Looking over at you, “let me walk you up ?”
“You’ve already done enough, it's fine”
“It’s fine. Come on” he got out, you mirrored his actions. Buck followed behind you as the two of you made your way up to your apartment. Unlocking the door, you stepped in and he stood by the door.
“Do you want to come in ?” setting your keys on the counter, you look back at the man who was leaning against the doorframe.
“I’d love too but I've got the first shift. Maybe another time ?”
“Yeah, that’s fine” walking back over to him, you stood in front of him. Even with him leaning, he still towered over you.
“I had a nice time tonight” you say, he nods. “I did too. Maybe we can do this again sometime ?”
“I'd like that”
“Okay.” he smiles, “well, good night then y/n”
“Good night Buck” standing on your toes, you go to kiss his cheek but it seems he had the same idea, both of you turning your heads at the same time and your lips were on his. Buck’s hand cupped your face for the few moments your lips were on his. When you pulled away, Buck had a slight red tint on his face, a blush or simply could have been the heat coming from your apartment, either way you were sure you looked the same way.
“How does Saturday sound ? Noon for lunch if you’re free ?” he breaks the silence.
"Saturday sounds perfect”
Buck smiled at you once more, he turned and began walking back to the elevator. He stopped in the middle of the hallway, turning back once again and walked towards your door.  He leaned down and gave you one more kiss. Laughing at the sweetheart that was now smiling at you from the other end of the hallway, you watched as he stepped on the elevator and then shut your door.
Outside of your building was a happy Buck who skipped his way over to his car, his keys twirling on his finger with a big grin on his face. As he got into his car, he sent his sister a text message.
To Maddie: You seem to know me better than I think, thank you.
Upstairs, there was a similar scene, a happy you skipping their way to bed with a smile on their face. As you laid in bed, you too sent a text message to Maddie.
To Maddie: Your match making efforts have worked, thank you.

The sound of Spencer’s ringtone pierced through the early morning quiet, shrill and disconsolate. Y/N hummed against his chest, shifting as he clumsily reached across to the bedside table to answer it.
“Hey,” he croaked, voice still smothered in sleep. “Mm... When?” He paused, and she could almost make out the answer on the other end. “Got it. Yeah.”
He carefully set the phone back on the bedside table, and then his arms came around her shoulders. He let out a long sigh, the one she’d gotten quite used to over the last year and a half— the one that meant he had to go. She squeezed him around the middle and let out her own sigh. “Case?”
“Yeah.” He ran light fingers down her arm. “Jet’s taking off in ninety minutes.”
She glanced at the bedside table to the alarm clock that read 4:57am. They both knew he needed to leave within the next half hour if he was going to make it on time, but neither one made any effort to move. Instead, they breathed together in the pre-dawn stillness— a single moment of peace before the world and all its ugliness could crash through the fortress they’d constructed around their space and around each other.
“I don’t wanna go,” he whispered.
“I know.” She pressed a kiss over his heart through his t-shirt. “I know.”
“I’m gonna miss everything,” he lamented. “Appointments, and milestones, and firsts, and I— I’m gonna miss all of it.”
She lifted her head at the tears in his voice. “Hey.” She shifted in the circle of his arms to prop herself up on his chest. “You’re not gonna miss all of it. You’ll miss this one appointment. And it’s— it’s not even an important one,” she assured, gentle fingers swiping away the lone tear that had managed to escape over his lash line.
“Yes, it is.” He shook his head. “They're all important.”
She gave him a sympathetic smile, leaning forward to press a quick peck to his lips before sitting up and deciding to reassure him in the only way she knew how. “Okay, doctor. Eleven weeks. Tell me what we’re gonna find out today.”
She pulled him up out of bed, interlacing their fingers and pressing their shoulders together. As she led him to the bathroom, he explained, “Dr. Layton will do the first ultrasound, and Baby will look more like a baby now. At around ten weeks they made the transition from embryo to fetus. They’ll be about two inches long.”
She handed him his toothbrush and turned to grab his toiletry go-back from the linen closet, stifling a yawn. “Mmhm. What else?”
“Did you know they’re breathing now?” he asked, and she smiled at the way the excitement crept into his voice. “Between weeks ten and eleven, the fetus starts to inhale and exhale small amounts of amniotic fluid, which aids in the development of their lungs. It’s kind of like they’re breathing underwater.”
“I didn’t know that,” she admitted, turning back to set the bag on the counter. “That’s pretty amazing. What about the heartbeat?”
He nodded vigorously as he applied toothpaste to the bristles of his brush. “We should be able to hear it, although sometimes it’s too early— depending on the accuracy of the estimated date of conception.”
He ran the water over the toothbrush before popping it into his mouth. She kissed his shoulder and then moved back into the bedroom, shuffling into their closet for his go bag. She checked it over on her way back to the bathroom, ensuring it had been fully repacked after the last case. She set it on the counter and placed his toiletry bag inside, leaving it open for him to pack his toothbrush and then sitting on the closed toilet lid.
He rinsed his mouth and put his travel cap over the head of his toothbrush, gesturing with it and then dropping it into the bag. “They’ll do some routine lab work to test for things like gestational diabetes, and we can also choose to do additional screeners for chromosomal abnormalities and possible complications.” He looked at her then, and she saw the despondence creeping back in. “I should really be there, just— just in case.”
“Honey.” She stood and held out her hand to him, smiling a little when he accepted it with a squeeze. “It’s gonna be okay.”
He let out a breath and pulled her into his arms, and they held each other in the silence, the soft light from the vanity washing over them. His phone buzzed with an incoming message, and she knew he needed to get on the road. Still, she held him for a second longer, and then they shuffled through the door and into the bedroom together.
Y/N made her way back to bed, scooting down under the duvet to preserve the last remaining notes of his body warmth. She watched as he dressed silently, pulling on trousers, socks, a button up and cardigan. He skipped the tie in favor of coming to sit on the bed, bringing his hand to rest lightly over top of her belly over the covers.
She covered his hand with her own and laced their fingers together. “Maybe you could ask Luke if you can FaceTime with his phone. You can probably take twenty minutes, right?”
He nodded. “Yeah. Yeah, I can do that.” He rubbed a tired hand over his face. “Maybe I should just upgrade my own phone.”
She huffed out a laugh. “Oh, I see how it is. Couldn’t upgrade for me, but once a baby comes along you’re ready for an iPhone.”
“That’s not— you— you shouldn’t have to do all of this alone,” he huffed, and she realized her joke didn’t land when his voice cracked at the end.
“Spence, I’m— I’m just teasing.” She lifted her hands to his face, pulling him closer and meeting his eyes. “I’m sorry; you’re upset, and that wasn’t nice.”
She leaned up to kiss his forehead, letting her lips linger and breathing him in. “But I’m not alone. With you, I feel— the opposite of alone.”
“Irritated?” he offered.
“No,” she laughed. “Supported, and cared for, and loved,” she corrected with a smile. “You’ve been all of that since day one. And I know that’s not going to change, whether you’re physically present in that doctor's office or not. Right?”
When he nodded, she continued, “I love you. The most. And you are easily the best baby daddy on planet earth. Okay?”
The term of endearment dragged a smile from him, as it always did. “Okay.”
She leaned forward to press her lips to his, both sets upturned and a little dry from sleep. “Now, you need to go, or you’re gonna be late.”
“I know.” He kissed her again, long and slow, and then pulled back to lean their foreheads together. He hesitated for another ten seconds before standing to grab his bag from the bathroom.
When he re-emerged, she reminded him, “Ask Luke about the FaceTime thing. I’m sure he won’t mind, and we can trust him to keep the secret. The appointment technically starts at 1:00, but I probably won’t be seen until at least 1:30.”
He crossed to give her another kiss. “I love you.” He crouched to press a kiss to her tummy. “And you.”
“We love you, too,” she smiled, fingers tangling in his curls. “And we’ll talk to you in a few hours.”
She kissed him one more time— couldn’t help herself. And then his warmth was gone from the bed, and the house was suddenly much too quiet. She snuggled back down under the duvet, her head on his pillow and the scent of his shampoo shrouding her senses and easing her mind.
Spencer really was supportive— endlessly so. Not overbearing, but interested and involved in every moment: reading all the newest research, bringing home her favorite treats, writing out a color-coded timeline of all the appointments and milestones. She wasn’t lying when she called him the best baby daddy. He was always there for her. So much so that the apprehension she’d had at the beginning of this surprise journey was nowhere to be found.
As she drifted back into sleep, there he was again— she could almost hear the jangling of his keys in the bowl in the entryway, his feet on the stairs, the rustling of his pants and sweater being discarded onto the floor of their bedroom.
And then she felt the warmth of his palm low over her tummy, coming to rest over the barely-there bump. She felt his lips on her shoulder and his chest pressed against her back. When she went to cover his hand with her own, her exhausted brain registered that it wasn’t a dream at all.
She turned her head, blinking her eyes open to see him smiling at her and drew her brows together. “What’s going on?”
He pressed another kiss to her shoulder, snuggling even closer and rubbing his thumb along her belly. “I’m, um— I told Emily I’m gonna consult from home on this one.”
“Okay, Mom, this’ll just be a little bit cold.”
Dr. Layton smoothed the gel over Y/N’s lower abdomen, and Spencer moved to thread their fingers together, shifting to stand even closer to the examination table. The ultrasound machine gave off a low hum as the doctor adjusted the wand over her tummy. She felt Spencer press a kiss to her temple and turned to smile brightly at him before turning back to the black and white screen.
At her first appointment five weeks ago, she’d been by herself— alone and uncertain and terrified— and she’d declined the option of the ultrasound. It felt wrong to see the baby before Spencer even knew about them. Now, together with him, with her soon-to-be husband— she was more than ready to see their baby for the first time. And she could practically feel Spencer’s excitement next to her, his body nearly vibrating with it.
“Ah, here they are. Hello, Baby Reid.” Dr. Layton pointed to a small, white figure on the screen. “Okay, right here, you can see their big ol’ head— perfectly normal size for this stage of development,” she assured, eyes deftly scanning the image in front of her. “Everything looks great! Now, I’m just trying to find…”
She adjusted the wand over Y/N’s tummy, and suddenly a wub wub wub came over the tinny speaker of the machine. “There we are,” Dr. Layton smiled. “Very strong heartbeat.”
Spencer squeezed Y/N’s hand, and she felt the drop of a tear on her shoulder. She brought her other hand over to cover their tangled fingers, rubbing her thumb along the skin of his wrist and kissing his arm.
Dr. Layton made a slightly perplexed humming sound, moving the wand again and losing the sound of the heartbeat, only to pick it up again— this time slightly faster. Y/N’s own heart stuttered a little as the doctor moved the wand again twice more, and then cleared her throat. “Is something— is everything okay?”
She turned to Y/N with a kind smile. “Yes, yes,” she confirmed, and then she raised her eyebrows. “Just— do you hear the difference?”
Spencer tilted his head in consideration, drawing his brows together and straining to hear. The doctor shifted the wand once more, allowing them to hear the two distinct patterns.
Two distinct patterns, Y/N realized.
Dr. Layton pressed the wand a little more firmly into her abdomen, moved it just slightly. “Those are two different heartbeats.” She pointed to the screen. “And those are two different babies. There’s a matching set of Baby Reids in there.”
Y/N couldn’t stop her jaw from dropping. “Is there—” She turned to Spencer incredulously. “Do twins run in your family?”
He shook his head silently, eyes wide. “Yours?”
“Nope,” she squeaked.
“This obviously changes things slightly,” Dr. Layton explained, cleaning up the residual gel. “I’d like to see you every three weeks rather than every four. Then at twenty eight weeks, we’ll see how we feel, okay?”
She smiled gently as Y/N and Spencer nodded dumbly. She removed her gloves and stood. “I’m going to give you two a few minutes. I’ll be back with your photos in a bit, and we can talk about any questions you might have.”
The door closed behind her, and the room was bathed in silence. Y/N sat up carefully and swung her legs over the side of the examination table. She looked down at her tiny, unassuming bump and felt a tear slip over her lashes.
“Are you— are you okay?” Spencer whispered.
She brought her gaze to his, found them teeming with barely restrained joy and yet the ever-present worry. “Well,” she started. “I, um— I always imagined two kids.” She brought her hands up to her sweaty cheeks and held her own face between her palms. “I guess this is— you know— just a quicker way to get there.”
Spencer immediately wrapped her in a hug, pressing kisses over her hair, her forehead, her shocked mouth. “Two babies. We’re having two babies.”
“Twins, Spence,” she breathed. “Twins.”
He replaced her hands with his own, cradling her face and kissing her sweetly, sighing all of his joy and adoration into her mouth. “I love you. So much. The most.” He lowered himself to press his lips to her belly. “All of you.”
She used gentle hands in his hair to tilt his face up, meeting his smile with a watery one of her own. “We love you, too, baby daddy.”
She could see the gears turning as he stood, his hands coming to rest on her hips. “About that.”
She raised her eyebrows. “Yes?”
“Do you, um— how difficult do you think it would be to get everyone together this weekend?”
She paused. “You wanna get married this weekend?”
“Yeah, that’s probably too soon, huh?” He huffed out a sigh, then his eyebrows shot up. “Oh, what about next weekend?”
“That’s just as soon!” she laughed.
He furrowed his brow. “No, it’s not. There's a seven day difference.”
“You’re really in a rush, huh?” she teased.
“Well. I just— I figure you should really be on my insurance anyway,” he reasoned. “Especially now that it’s— now that it’s twins.”
“Mm, yes, I’m sure that’s the reason,” she grinned.
He let out a long breath, and she watched his eyes journey over her face— memorizing every curve and angle, every new wrinkle, every last inch of her. And she knew the reason.
“I know it’s just a piece of paper,” he murmured. “It doesn’t really change anything, but…” He used gentle fingers to brush her hair back from her face. “I just… really want to be your husband.”
She took her own minute to memorize the way he looked in this moment: her fiancé, the father of her children, the best man she’d ever known, the absolute love of her life. And she knew her own reason.
“The paper might not change anything,” she agreed. “But— you’ve changed everything.”
He squeezed her hips. “In a good way I hope.”
“The best way.” She brought her hands to his face, rubbing her thumbs along his cheeks. “The best way.”
He closed the distance between them to kiss her with all the honey and magic and reverence he always did. He broke away to lean his forehead against hers with all the warmth and devotion and love he always did. She sighed, and it was all joy and vulnerability and contentment like it always was. And she knew their reasons.
She kissed him again, and then murmured against his lips, “You know I’m still gonna refer to you as baby daddy, right?”
The laugh erupted from his chest and wrapped itself around her heart, tying tight and secure— a shield, and a haven, and a refuge— keeping her safe from every terrible thing.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
O no! Love is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.

Save The Date Chapter 11 ~What’s Brewing Claire?~
Tumblr media

 Previously in Stramash ...
Jamie pulled back to look at her face and tipped her chin up to survey the cut on her lips. "He did this?"
She could only nod as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.
Jamie turned the gun in his hand and marched towards the door, shouting at the police ushering Jack out to wait. Before Claire could scream for him to stop, he brought his forehead down on Jack's nose in a head butt before handing the weapon to a nearby officer. The sound of cartilage crunching echoed in the tiny room, making Claire wince. Jack fell onto his knees with a loud thud, holding his bleeding nose, shouting improprieties muffled by his hands.
"Now, that was uncalled for, Fraser," an officer clucked, but his grin and the amusement in his eyes implied he wasn't too bothered over Jack's injury. "Now go and get some rest. I'll handle the paperwork and delay the statement for tomorrow morning. You both have done enough to save the day."

Jamie studied Claire. She lay relaxed on the examination table, going through her phone and reading messages. She looked untroubled and seemed to have recovered from the ordeal this past weekend. The only tell-tale sign left of that hellish night was the tiny scab on her lower lip and bruising on her right cheek where Jack Randall had struck her. She was whole and safe, and yet here he was, having trouble letting go of that incident.
When he'd helplessly watched Jack shoved a gun against her neck and dragged her away from his sight, he'd felt the full gravity of her vulnerability and his inadequacy to secure her safety. But how Claire had handled the situation was nothing short of mind-blowing, albeit heart-stopping. She'd kept her presence of mind, aptly keeping Geneva talking while the tech specialist monitored the audio listening device. The moment they'd identified the voice on the phone, the administration in Broadmoor had been immediately alerted to make sure Geneva didn't go anywhere until the police arrived.
Geneva and Jack were in jail now, awaiting trial and most likely would stay there for a very long time. He really needed to stop fixating on what could have gone wrong and focus on the matter at hand, like their baby's condition and Claire's health.
He puffed out a breath and sprung onto his feet. "Ye comfy, Sassenach?"
"I'm good," she replied, without looking up from her phone screen.
"Ye ken, we can cancel the baby reveal for another day."
"I know, but I prepared so much food already."
They were having his family and closest friends over for afternoon tea to share the news of their baby. Claire had insisted on a celebration to invalidate the ordeal Geneva had put them through, determined not to allow recent events to cast a shadow over their upcoming nuptials. Jamie had thought it was too soon, but Claire had pressed that the sooner they moved forward from the incident, the better.
So last night, she'd spent the entire evening preparing shortcrust pastries, scones batter and making Victorian sponge cake. Apparently, she'd taken some lessons in baking and cooking from Mrs Fitz so that she could host parties like Jenny and his ma. It was as if her work, all the travelling she'd been doing, preparing for the wedding and recovering from trauma wasn't enough. She also needed to put up a brave front.
Though the doctor had given Claire an all-clear in London after a routine checkup, Jamie had insisted on another examination when she'd complain of spotting last night. He hadn't a clue what that had meant, but the concerned look on her face was enough for him to push her for another doctor's appointment. To his relief, she'd hardly put up a fight, and he'd immediately arranged a consultation with a private practice to speed things along since the NHS hospitals were notorious for long waits.
"I just want ye to be certain, Sassenach. That's all. I dinnae want this tea party putting a strain on ye."
Claire put her phone down and glanced up at him. "I'm pregnant, Jamie, not incapacitated. I know you're worried about the spotting, but I'm quite certain pregnant women gets them sometimes. I don't feel ill, but here we are, taking precautions."
Sighing, he moved to her side and took her hand in his. "It's just that I'm bothered about that bruise behind yer back. It looks vicious. I ken bruising looks a lot worse than it is, but I cannae help but wonder if the baby has been harmed when ye banged yer behind on those shelving units after Jack pushed ye. I'm concerned about any delayed complications. Or if the doctor in London overlooked something."
She squeezed his hand. "Your worries are valid, Jamie. The odds of miscarriage or complications might be highest in the first trimester, but I haven't had any issues." She shrugged. "Oh, well, except for the tiny spotting last night. I'm sure everything's fine. Try not to worry."
Easier said than done, Jamie thought. How could Claire sit there looking so calm?  Now that she's pregnant, the world was suddenly full of threats: unpasteurised juice and dairy, soft cheeses that she loved so much, fish high in mercury, saunas and hot tubs, secondhand smoke, changing Adso's litterbox. Not to mention aunt Jocasta's bloody stories of baby-abducting fairies. He really needed to stop reading too much pregnancy information; otherwise, he'd go insane.
Claire gave him a look that said she could tell he was overthinking things.
He promptly kissed her on the lips. "Aye, I guess ye're right," he conceded. "I'm sorry for over-reacting."
The door suddenly opened, and in walked a friendly-looking middle-aged female doctor. "Hello, Claire! Dr Fiona Innes. How are we feeling today?"
"I'm good, just a bit nervous about the spotting," Claire breathed.
"Understandably." Then the doctor turned to Jamie. "And ye're..."
"James Fraser. The one who got her up the duff," he replied, taking the doctor's outstretched hand and giving it a firm shake.
"Jamie!" Claire gasped, her face crimsoning profusely.
The doctor laughed. "Hah! I like that! A good sense of humour will get ye through anything." She dragged the ultrasound monitor closer to the exam table and pulled up a stool. "So, let's get started so we can put both yer mind at ease, shall we?" She proceeded to put gloves on and prepare the probe that Jamie had the unfortunate luck of knowing already what it was for. "Now, Claire, I want ye to lie back and place yer feet in the stirrups."
Claire did as she was told while Jamie helped her ease down. He winced when he heard the sound of latex snapping over the probe. He looked away and took Claire's hand in his.
"Is this your first ultrasound visit, Mr Fraser?"
He glanced over his shoulder, thinking the doctor must have noticed the strain on his face. "Aye and no."
Dr Innes arched an eyebrow.
Jamie pointed at the probe and tried not to grimace. "I've seen a doctor used that thing on her when she was hospitalised a few weeks ago. I hadn't known what was going on then, so I walked away and let them get on with it."
"I see." The doctor refocused her attention back to Claire. "Now relax for me and big deep breaths," Dr Innes advised as she put lubricating gel on the blunt tip of the probe. "This will be a tad bit uncomfortable."
Claire shut her eyes and took a deep breath while Jamie whispered all sorts of nonsense in her ear. When her grip clenched into a tight vice, he pressed his lips on the top of her head.
A few seconds passed, and that's when he heard it. He stilled. It was loud, clear and steady. The unmistakable sound of a heartbeat coming from the monitor. It was their baby's. He let out a sharp exhale, realising he'd discovered something powerful in the tiny, vulnerable life form growing in Claire's womb.
His ma once said that the heartbeat was the first music that a child heard and that every bairn was born knowing the rhythm of their mother's song. To Jamie, this was the sound of their child's soul, the unspoken words already speaking volumes. It was as if it was saying, I'm alive and well, can you hear me?
"Weel, that sounds like a strong and healthy heartbeat there," Dr Innes remarked. "See right there?" Jamie and Claire stirred in their positions to take a better look at where the doctor was pointing. "That's yer baby."
Releasing Claire's hand, Jamie stepped closer to the monitor and tipped his head to the side, adjusting his eyes to discern the grainy image on the monitor. When he finally figured out the shape, mixed emotions began to bombard him in all directions. He felt the complexity of love at seeing a piece of himself and Claire on the screen, inspiring fierce protective instinct to kindle within him. Words like elation, joy and sobering responsibility were too meagre terms and did not give justice in describing how visceral all his emotions were.
"T-that ..." Jamie pointed an index finger at the image, swallowing the lump in his throat. "Is that a ..."
"It's not what ye think, Mr Fraser. That's the foot," Dr Innes responded briskly. She shifted the probe at a different angle to capture another image. "As far as I can see, everything seems to be in perfect working order. I can safely say ye have a healthy, strong baby, so ye can both rest easy."
Jamie continued to stare at the monitor, still trying to wrap the idea of impending fatherhood around his head. "The baby is no' missing any parts, is it?"
"The baby has everything it should have at this stage of the pregnancy," the doctor replied, amused. "Though I think we'll need another few weeks to be able to tell the gender."
"Thank you so much, doctor," Claire said gratefully, pushing herself upright. "We were worried about the spotting and thought it might have had to do with the stress and trauma of what happened last weekend. It was mad, really. I nearly got abducted and had a gun pointed at me."
The doctor threw the probe's latex into the waste and began peeling off her gloves, seemingly unaffected by what Claire had just revealed, making Jamie think physicians were used to hearing such stories. The doctor gave them both an understanding look. "Having a gun pointed at ye is quite jarring, so I understand why ye're both concerned. So how are ye coping mentally?"
"I try not to dwell on it and carry on as usual," Claire shrugged. "So far, I'm dealing with it fine."
The doctor looked at Claire curiously, her expression full of empathy. "Sometimes ignoring it isn't as cut and dried as you think. Try and get some counselling. Ye're going to deal enough with all the hormones impacting yer physiological, physical and mental well being. This is the time to be enjoying this exciting time in yer life, so counselling is just taking a precautionary step to ensure you are in a good place and prepared for what the next few months will throw at ye."
Jamie locked eyes with Claire, and a silent agreement passed between them. They both understood the impact of a traumatising experience, and he wanted to take the doctor's advice on board.
"I'll make sure she and the baby are well taken care of," he reassured the doctor, patting Claire's thigh.
"I'm sure ye will," the doctor smiled, pressing buttons on the monitor.
"Let's just hope he won't go over the top," Claire added. "He has a tendency to do that."
The doctor pulled out copies of ultrasound images from the printer and glanced up at Jamie. "I can understand the need to protect, but just bear in mind, us women are more resilient and stronger than we look," she pointed out. "And pregnant women aren't as frail as society perceives them to be."
Jamie laughed. "There's no question about that. After all, my wife-to-be here achieved what twenty-four specialist firearms officers could not."
"Oh?" Dr Innes looked surprised. "And what was that?"
"She single-handedly took down a maximum-security prisoner escapee, helped led the police to his psychopathic accomplice and in the process saved an innocent mistakenly imprisoned," Jamie explained. "I ken it was a foolish move with her being pregnant and all ..."
"It might have been foolish, but I happen to believe Claire's response is inherent in all mothers and mothers-to-be, and it's something almost impossible for the human brain to override."
"Och, aye?"
"It's called maternal instinct, Mr Fraser, and it's as old as life itself." Dr Innes got up and handed him an envelope containing the ultrasound images. "So woe to anyone who dares a mother-to-be or new mother harm because they're utterly more ferocious than any man wielding a gun when it comes to defending their nest." She looked between him and Claire and smiled. "Anyway, congratulations to you both on your coming parenthood." Then she faced Jamie and patted him on the shoulder. "And as for ye, congratulations on yer newly acquired bodyguard. Ye can sleep well tonight."
..........
Jamie walked in and placed the last of their shopping bags onto the kitchen counter. "Is there anything else ye need, Sassenach, before I go?"
Claire felt him approach and busied herself, placing apples in a large bowl and then lemons in another. "Umm ...I think I have everything I need." She felt his eyes boring into her back but tried her best not to get distracted. "Shall I make a sandwich to take with you?"
"No, I'm no' hungry."
"Oh, alright ...I guess I shall see you later then."
"I have a few minutes to spare. Want to talk?"
"Talk about what?"
"What ye're feeling. Ye haven't said much all morning ...since we left the clinic. And ye hardly talked to me while we went food shopping."
She took out a knife and honing steel from a drawer and went through the motion of sharpening the blade. "Oh ...I guess I must have been preoccupied with my mental to-do list. That's all."
A long silence ensued, and after what felt like an eternity, he let out an exasperated sigh. "Sassenach, can ye stop what ye're doing for a minute and look at me?"
Hot tears suddenly settled behind her eyes, but she fiercely blinked them back and breathed deeply, swallowing down conflicting emotions and refusing to let them fall. She didn't want to be the type of woman who cried at the littlest and inconsequential thing. She'd never been a crier before, and she wasn't about to become one if she could help it.
"I'm busy, Jamie."
"Please."
Bracing herself, she placed down her utensils and faced him. "What is it?"
"This ..." Jamie waved his hand at the shopping bags on the counter. "I ken what this is. Ye havenae sat still ever since we came back from our trip. Ye've decluttered our bedroom and cleaned out all the kitchen cupboards. And now an afternoon tea party? I ken what ye're doing. Ye're keeping yersel' busy to forget what happened in London instead of talking about it."
"No." She shook her head. "It's not that."
Jamie impatiently rubbed a hand on the back of his neck. "Weel, what is up with ye then?"
"Hormones."
"Hormones," Jamie echoed. "Why did you no' just say so?"
She felt her face heat up. "I don't know. Maybe I didn't know it at the time. Or perhaps, because it all seems so silly that I'm getting all worked up for nothing."
Jamie stepped closer and braced her cheeks with both hands, a calloused thumb tenderly swiping her lower lip. "Listen to me very carefully. Whatever ye're feeling or going through, hormonal or not, is never silly. Everything ye have to say is important to me. Trust me on that. I always want to know if something is bothering ye and be able to help ye fix it. Yer body is going through many changes, and it's normal yer emotions are all over the place. So no more self-deprecating thoughts about yer feelings. Am I making myself clear?"
She pursed her lips and nodded, tamping down the urge to cry.
"Very well then, tell me what's going through that mind of yers. At least we can clear the air between us before I go, and my whole family comes and start noticing that something isnae right. Today is supposed to be a celebration of our baby. I dinnae want anything to ruin this day in as much as I think we should delay this for another time."
"Fine." She shut her eyes to search for the right words, but no matter how she formulated them in her head, it didn't sound right. Saying it out loud would only make her appear pathetic. But there was no way around it once Jamie set his mind in extracting something from her.
"Sassenach?"
Her eyes flew open. "Yes?"
"Yer face is getting redder by the second. I'm beginning to worry."
"Very well, if you must know ..." She blew out a breath. "You haven't touched me since that night in London, that's what," she blurted out. "I feel like you're avoiding me. Every time it was time for us to go to bed, you always had some excuse, like you haven't walked the dog or you need to check the emails." Unable to hold it back any longer, she suddenly burst out crying. "I know it's hormones talking, and I'm acting silly. But I can't help but feel the way I feel because I'm hormonal and horny. That's why I'm keeping myself busy, so I will not overthink things. Because if I did, I'd start believing you don't want me anymore, even if logic says it's not true. Happy now?"
He blinked rapidly as if his brain was short-circuiting.
"Yeah, just the reaction I knew I was going to get. See what I mean when I said I was acting silly?"
"No," he groaned out loud. "Sweet baby Jesus! Ye cannae say things like horny  when I have to go."
Claire slapped Jamie on the chest. "Jamie! You wanted to know what was wrong! Now that I've said it, you can't blame me for it!"
"Cancel the tea party, and I'll tell Willie I'll be late!"
"No!"
"Why no'?"
"Because!"
With a deep groan, he grabbed her neck from behind and gave her a hard kiss. There was nothing tender or playful about it, just a desperate act of trying to get his fill. He let out a frustrated moan as his tongue swept in her mouth, and a hand cupped her breast, his arousal hard and thick against her belly, letting her know how much he wanted her. When he finally broke the kiss, they were both gasping for air. He pressed their foreheads together, breathing harshly into her face. "How could ye think, even in yer hormonal state, I dinnae want ye any more? Damn it, Sassenach, I've been aching for ye these past few days."
"Then why didn't you touch me?"
He shook his head as he attempted to even his breath. "That night in London, after I took ye back to the hotel, I wanted to bury myself deep inside ye so I could remind myself that ye're really alive and back in my arms. But when I saw that bruising behind yer back and knowing what ye've just been through in yer pregnant state, I thought if I took ye right there and then, I might cause ye irreparable damage, physically and psychologically. I wanted to make sure ye're properly healed first and that our baby was safe. God, all those nights I was away from our bed, I've been doing push-ups to release all those pent-up frustrations of not being able to make love to ye."
"So you did want me all along ..."
He tapped her nose. "Aye, ye silly goose."
"Oh Jamie," she sighed. "You still don't get it, do you?" She placed a hand against his face and smiled for the first time that morning.
"Get what?" he asked, looking suddenly confused.
"You should know by now, lovemaking is the best stress reliever. I thought you knew that."
"Weel ..."
"Remember the times when you were all worked up and conflicted, and how much better you felt after sex?" When he nodded, she pressed on. "Whenever you and I have sex, whether it's fast, hard, long or a quickie, it always came from a place of love. And we've talked about this before ...love heals. The most wonderful thing about our lovemaking, it puts us in that intimate space where we can better connect, heal, open us to those hard conversations, helping us in the process to find closure and release. If sex worked for you to ease your stress, why should it be any different for me? I needed you most after that horrendous night, Jamie. I needed your body to ground me. But I understand now why you didn't touch me that night."
Jamie stared at the ceiling and sighed before looking at her with a mixture of wonderment and torment. He let out a pained laugh. "Weel, right now, I'm under a lot of stress and pressure." He took her hand and placed it on his bulging arousal to make a point. "How about we continue this in the bedroom and let off some steam? I'm stressed, and ye're horny. Ideal combo! Ye can use my body anyway ye want."
Claire clucked her tongue and planted a quick kiss on his lips. "Oh, no, you don't, you sneaky, Scot! You're running late as it is." She placed both hands on his chest and began pushing him out of the kitchen. "How about you let me get on with food preparation, and you finish what you need to do so you can come home as soon as you can in time for the tea party?" she proposed.
"How about my stress levels?" he grumbled.
"Your stress levels are fine!" She turned him around and smacked him on the bum. "Now go. Mrs Fitz will be here any minute to bring the Battenberg cake I ordered."
At the mention of Mrs Fitz, Jamie didn't need any more prodding. He gave her another quick kiss and left the cottage, muttering something about getting a new house before slamming the door behind him.
..........
The rest of the morning and early afternoon passed by quick, and something in Claire lightened even though she was a nervous wreck hosting her first traditional English tea party.
She looked at the kitchen counter laden with several tiered plates displaying the delicacies she'd meticulously prepared. She was ready, and everything looked perfect.
She'd made four different tea sandwiches to be on the safe side: pear and stilton, cucumber and cream cheese, egg salad, and smoked salmon and dill. And then there were scones, lemon curd tartlets, fruit tarts, and shortbread and Linzer cookies she was looking forward to gorge on. On the other end of the counter were Mrs Fitz's Battenberg cake and Claire's pièce de résistance, Victoria's sponge filled with jam, berries and double cream. Her teabox was neatly packed with Darjeeling, Earl Grey, and Assam, and the pitchers of lavender and elderflower lemonade were cooling nicely in the fridge.
Perfection!
She was about to wash the sink when she heard a rap on the window. She looked up and saw Jenny waving at her. Letting her in through the kitchen back door, she was surprised to see her carrying a stack of real estate pamphlets and magazines with its pages tabbed with colourful sticky notes.
"Jen! What's all that?"
Jenny shrugged. "Weel, after what happened to ye in London and with everything going on at the moment, I thought I'd make yer life easier." She plonked down her load on a nearby stool and picked up a magazine, leafing through the pages. "I heard from Willie ye and Jamie are looking for a bigger place. So I decided to grab all these. It has listings of every available property for sale in the surrounding area. Ma and I saved the pages we thought ye and Jamie might like."
"Oh, Jen!" Claire gasped, her hands flying to her mouth.
Jenny waved a hand. "Think nothing of it!"
Feeling emotional, Claire gave Jenny a big hug. "That's very thoughtful of you. Thank you so much." When she finally broke away from their embrace, she noticed deep furrows on Jenny's forehead. "Jen? What's wrong?"
Jenny's usually brilliant blue eyes suddenly looked serious as they landed on the bruising on her cheek. "Does that still hurt?"
Claire touched her cheek. "Oh, this? No, not at all. It looks worse than it is. Poor Jamie getting all these weird looks when we're out and about. He was even accused by some granny of being an abuser. I can understand why but I had to step in and explain to the old dear."
Jenny wrung her hands and gave her a small smile. "Actually, I -I came early because I wanted to talk with ye. Just us two."
"Oh, do you want a drink first?" Claire offered, jerking a thumb in the direction of the fridge. "I have some lemonade ..."
"No! Please! I need to get this out before anything else."
Claire nodded. "Alright then, I'm all ears."
"I-I want to apologise for ..." Jenny's chin crumpled, seemingly attempting to blink back her tears. " ...for what happened to ye in London."
"Wot? Oh, Jen! Why are you apologising? That wasn't your fault."
Jenny raised a hand, which told Claire to let her talk. "It was in some ways my fault, Claire. Geneva was my friend, and I tried to push Jamie and her together. I shouldn't have told her last year there was a vacancy in the village, and then she wouldn't have come back and pursued her interest in my brother. I honestly had no idea she was capable of such horrid deeds. If I'd known, I wouldn't have taken her into my circle of friends and family."
Claire shook her head. "No one could have known, and no one knew. Even her work colleagues and peers were shocked when they found out what she's done. She's a master manipulator, Jen, and she probably manipulated you too under the guise of friendship."
"Still ..." Jenny insisted. "If it wasn't for my meddling ..."
"Stop right there!" Claire wagged a finger at Jenny. "We've locked horns on the subject before and moved on from that already. Alright? Past is past. We all make mistakes. The most important thing is we learn from it. So no more mention of Geneva."
This time Jenny's smile reached her eyes. "Fine! Just dinnae tell Jamie we talked about this."
"Whyever not?"
"Jamie has given everyone in the family strict orders, not to mention about London today."
"Really?"
Jenny nodded. "He didn't want to ruin today's celebration rehashing what happened. Unfortunately, I had to in order for me to apologise, but enough of that now." She clapped her hands. "So, how about that drink. I'm parched." She whirled around and stopped, her eyes widening when she saw the spread Claire had prepared. Walking over to the kitchen counter, she took in everything with a smile. "Goodness, did ye make all these?"
Claire smiled with pride. "I did. Except for the Battenberg cake. Mrs Fitz made it."
"Ye said, ye didnae know how to bake," Jenny said almost begrudgingly.
"Now I do, thanks to the wifey Bootcamp I attended, also known as Mrs Fitz's kitchen."
"These all look scrumptious. It's been ages since I had a proper English afternoon tea." Jenny glanced up at her and grinned. "So, what are we celebrating?"
Claire nearly blurted out the baby news, but she quickly caught herself. Sliding an arm around her soon-to-be sister-in-law, she walked Jenny to the end of the counter to show her the sponge cake. "Today, we're celebrating love, friends and family."
Jenny poked a finger into the clotted cream and licked. "I like the sound of that. That'll always be a perfect excuse for a celebration or a proper afternoon tea party."
Claire smiled. "I couldn't agree more, Jen. I couldn't agree more."
..........
Jamie came home from work and noticed all the sandwiches, tarts and cakes laid out on the kitchen counter. He was mildly astonished that Claire had been able to prepare so much in the nick of time. He glanced out the window and spied her and Jenny in the garden, busily arranging tablecloths on the long wooden table. Looking at his watch, he realised he had about fifteen minutes to get ready before their friends and family started arriving.
But first things first.
Stepping out into the backyard, he snuck behind Claire and wrapped his arms around her waist, planting a soft kiss on her neck. "Mmm, ye smell of berries, lemon and lavender," he whispered, running his lips on her bare skin and ignoring Jenny's mumbling about getting a room.
Claire turned in his hold and smiled up at him. "And you reek, mister. You won't be served tea smelling like that."
"Fancy a shower with me then?" he suggested, feeling mischievous. "Jen's here to look out for guests."
"Nice try, but I had a shower already, and Jen is our guest today."
He leaned down and nibbled her earlobe, making her squeal.
"Jamie, you're going to get my dress dirty. Oh, fiddlesticks ..." She suddenly stilled mid-laughter and made a face, her hand covering her nose. "Urgh ...what's that smell?"
Jamie let her go and took a whiff of his shirt. "Oh, it's just a bit of wood stain I was working with. It'll come off in a wash."
Her face suddenly turned pale. "Oh, God, I think I'm going to be sick. Tell Jen I'll be right back ...and you ...you go have a shower before your parents arrive." With that, she spun around and ran back to the cottage.
Stunned, he watched her disappearing form and whistled under his breath. "What just happened?" he muttered, even though he knew the answer had to do with the dreaded pregnancy sickness. She'd been doing so well so far he almost thought morning sickness was nothing but a myth, even though Claire had revealed, she couldn't stand the smell of aniseed, star anise, fennel, and liquorice.
"Maybe, she's pregnant and suffering from sickness?" Jenny replied, walking past him with an armful of wildflowers to put into the empty vases dotted on the wooden table.
He hadn't realised Jenny had returned from wherever she'd disappeared to. He needed to be careful not to reveal their baby news too soon, or the surprise would be ruined. Jenny was simply someone who couldn't keep a secret.
"Ach, I should have known chemical smells always make her nauseous," he explained, not wanting to give too much away to his perceptive sister.
Jenny twitched her lips from side to side as she trimmed the bouquet's stems with pruning shears. "Aye, that will be right!" she smirked.
He glared at his sister. "What's that supposed to mean?"
She shrugged and gave him a knowing look. "Nothing! Now go have a shower, and I'll take care of things here until Claire feels better."
Jamie was about to say more when he heard the sound of a car parking in the driveway. As Jenny made a move to take a look, he quickly made a beeline back to the cottage before anyone saw him, hoping Claire had already recovered from her bout of sickness.
..........
Jamie leaned back on his chair and glanced around. It was a perfect summer late afternoon, and everyone seemed to be having a great time and enjoying the food Claire had prepared. The sun warmed his face and bathed the garden in dazzling light, making the different shades of green and the profusion of wildflowers more vibrant and alive. The chatter was lively, and funnily enough, no one complained about the lack of alcohol which was highly unusual for a gathering in Scotland. But, he suspected his godfather must have a flask of whisky or something similar tucked away somewhere as he was getting louder and more boisterous as time went by.
He took Claire's hand in his, and she turned his way and smiled. Her face looked pale, but there was an aura of tranquillity radiating from her that told him she was happy and content. Though her plate was full of food, it remained untouched, and if anyone had noticed, no one said anything. "How are ye feeling, Sassenach?"
She took a huge deep breath, held it in for a few seconds and then relaxed. "I'm fine," she sighed. "It's a lovely day, isn't it?"
He knew she was valiantly fighting back the sickness that must be creating havoc in her body but was too stubborn to give in to it. "Shall we tell them about the surprise so you can finally have a rest?" he suggested in a low voice, so no one would hear. "It cannae be comfortable sitting here when ye feel so unwell."
She shook her head as she gulped in more air. "I want to wait for uncle Lamb. He'll be here soon."
Quentin's plane from Athens should have arrived four hours ago but was delayed because of some mechanical issues. Jamie hoped for Claire's sake Quentin was on his way and wasn't dilly-dallying somewhere, like planning a grand entrance. Jamie kissed her cheek, hoping to sweet talk her to giving up this charade of wellness. "I'm pretty sure ye're uncle will understand once he finds out about yer condition."
"I know," Claire murmured. "But I want today to be perfect and complete. I want to see uncle Lamb's face when we announce it."
"But it's already perfect."
"Not without uncle Lamb."
Jamie prayed for patience and tamped down the urge to haul this beautiful but infuriating woman in his arms and carry her to bed. He squeezed her hand and yielded to her request, knowing this get-together was important to her. "Whatever ye say, Sassenach. Just let me know if ye need anything."
"I will," she replied between sharp intakes of breath.
Jamie decided not to press anymore. He knew this was one battle he couldn't win without creating a scene in front of their friends and family. But if Claire thought she was pulling this act off, Jamie was convinced, his perceptive family had already caught on with what was passing. Claire was a terrible actress, and she couldn't even lie to save her life.
Fortunately, their intimate tea party was animated and loud, and it diverted the attention from Claire. Directly opposite them, Tom and Willie were discussing the merits of owning a mini campervan for spontaneous weekend trips around the Highlands. On one end of the table, Murtagh passionately ranted and raved to Brian and uncle Duncan about the Tories and how SNP was the solution to Scotland's political future. Next to Claire, Annalise showed Ellen and aunt Jocasta how to work the Instagram app while Jenny, Mary and Geillis cackled over some celebrity gossip they've probably read somewhere. Grannie Annie had meanwhile fallen asleep in her seat with Adso in her lap and Rollo at her feet. At the far end of the garden, Finlay, Geillis' boyfriend and Ian were having a go at playing badminton but kept hitting the shuttlecock over the hedge to both their frustration.
Though Jamie was happy the tea party had gone as planned, he couldn't relax, too worried about Claire predicament. If it got to the stage where Claire lost any more colour to her face, he was sure no one would be able to blame him for whatever course of action he would take next.
"Right, does anyone want some fresh cuppa?" Claire suddenly announced, getting up from her seat.
Annalise immediately jumped to her feet. "I can do that."
Willie got up too. "I'll put the kettle on."
"I'll clear up the empty dishes," Geillis offered, already grabbing an empty tiered plate stand. "We dinnae want this stunning antique piece being knocked over, now do we?"
Ellen reached over to Claire from her seat and patted her hand. "Everything was lovely, dear. I couldnae decide which was my favourite. And that lavender lemonade was refreshing."
"Aye," Murtagh piped in as he got up and sat directly opposite Claire. "I bet it will taste even better with gin or vodka."
Brian frowned at Murtagh. "The lavender lemonade tastes good as it is. There's nae need to spoil it with alcohol. Besides, it's good for ye to give yer poor liver a wee break. If ye're no' careful, yer gene pool will soon have a swim-up bar."
"I dinnae drink that much," Murtagh grumbled.
"Aye ye do," Aunt Jocasta pointed out. "Dinnae think for one minute I didnae notice ye've been spiking yer tea."
Before Murtagh could retort, Geillis came back in time with a steaming mug and placed it in front of Claire.
"Ooh, what's this?" Claire asked, looking into her drink.
"It's ginger and turmeric tea," Geillis declared. "It's good for ye. I brought it with me from Glasgow. It's organic, and thought ye might like it."
Jamie couldn't help but smile to himself. He knew ginger tea or any form of ginger were effective in reducing nausea. Claire probably knew too because her eyes lit up and gave Geillis an appreciative nod. If he wasn't a hundred per cent certain earlier, everyone knew about Claire's condition, now he's more convinced than ever they were playing along. Jamie appreciated the gesture, but this had gone on too far. Where the bloody hell is Quentin?
"I'm back!" boomed a voice, waking grannie Annie up. It was as if Jamie's thoughts had conjured Claire's uncle from thin air, and there he was making a grand entrance as Jamie had expected. "I hope there are some leftovers. I'm famished."
Claire laughed, twisting around on her seat to watch her uncle approaching. Ellen got up and started plating some food for Quentin.
"There's plenty of leftovers," Annalise assured as she placed another platter of sandwiches on the table. "Claire made enough for the entire village."
Quentin gave Claire a quick kiss on the forehead before greeting the rest of the party, who'd gathered back around the table. "Sorry for the delay," he apologised, finally taking a seat next to Claire. "Our plane was stuck on the tarmac without any air conditioning. We had no choice but to sit there and stew in the heat while the engineers fixed the plane."
"Well, I'm glad you're here now," Claire said, looking adoringly at her uncle.
Quentin stared at the bruising on her cheek. "I don't like the look of that. It looks ..."
Sounds of several throats clearing ensued, a signal to Quentin not to pursue the London topic any further.
"Very well," Quentin nodded in understanding. "I'm glad too that I'm here."
Claire smiled. "Alrighty, so now that everyone's here, Jamie and I have an announcement to ..."
"Hold that thought, sweetheart," Quentin interrupted as he bent down to retrieve the holdall he'd placed at his feet. "I brought a souvenir."
Jamie bit his tongue at the interruption.
"I hope it's not another ceramic plate," Claire groaned, unaware of Jamie's frustration.
"No. I got something better." Quentin waggled his bushy eyebrows as he unzipped his bag and proceeded to rummage through its contents. "Wait for it! Wait for it!" Suddenly he yanked out a bottle and held it up for everyone to see. "I got Ouzo!" he announced with satisfaction.
"Yesss, ya beauty!" Murtagh cheered happily, banging a hand on the table. "I love Ouzo."
Aunt Jocasta scowled at Murtagh. "Ye like anything alcoholic. Ye'll drink Listerine if it was placed in front of ye."
"What's Ouzo?" Claire asked as she stared curiously at the offering. "I mean, I've heard of it before, but I've forgotten what it is."
Jamie was about to fill in the information and tell her she wouldn't be able to stand the smell of it when Quentin expertly uncapped the bottle and held it under Claire's nose. Oblivious to Jamie's hitch of breath, Claire pressed her nose closer to the opening of the bottle to take a better whiff. Ah, shite!
"It's an anise flavoured liquor," Quentin described. "Mostly served as an aperitif in Greece.."
Jamie watched in awe as Claire's head jerked back and her face contorted when her senses registered the smell, and a low, gurgling sound came from deep down in her belly. He winced, half expecting any moment now a horrific scene of projectile vomiting, and the recipient would be none other than his godfather sat opposite her. But Claire jumped to her feet, startling everyone, and her hand immediately clapped over her mouth, golden eyes bright and tearing up. Quick thinking Jenny, grabbed a sprig of mint she'd put in the vase, macerated it in her hands and offered it to Claire. Everyone gasped and watched in fascination as Claire took the green leaves and stuffed her mouth with them, and began to chew, jaws working overtime, reminding Jamie of a cow feeding in the fields. Nobody said a word, waiting for the next scene to unfold or for someone to offer an explanation.
Swallowing audibly, Claire finally untensed and slumped back down to a loud hearty burp. And as if nothing had happened, she calmly drank a good measure of her ginger tea, put the mug down and then smiled. "Sorry about that. So where were we again?"
Eyes bulging almost out of his head, Quentin sputtered before he managed to string a coherent sentence together. "W-What the bloody hell was that? Was that some kind of weird side effects from what happened in London that I have no idea of?"
Claire looked at Jamie, looking suddenly exhausted. "Can you please tell them?"
"Tell me what?" Quentin bristled.
Jamie dropped his head on his folded arms resting on the table and allowed it to bounce once. Twice. Thrice. God must have taken pity of him because when he glanced up, everyone shouted in chorus. "Claire and Jamie are having a baby!"

   Dear Readers,
Thank you all for the response and feedback I received for my previous chapter. I know it got a bit crazy; therefore, today's update is more subdued to allow everyone's breathing to go back to normal.  Nevertheless, I hope you've enjoyed reading it as much I've enjoyed writing it for you.
Anyway, I hope you're all keeping safe and taking care of yourself and mostly taking the time to enjoy the last days of summer. Keep up the good vibes and be well. X

Pregnancy Series: Part 1 // Part 2
Jumin
You nervously rubbed your hands together as the weekend finally came.
Ever since Jumin married you, he decided to have his birthday parties only with you instead of throwing big parties with people he didn’t even like just because of his status.
But this time you prepared something special for him.
You decided to invite your father-in-law as well as the RFA, even Zen, at your place on the 4th of October to stay until Jumin’s birthday at midnight the 5th october.
For Zen, you even prepared your party room since your beloved cat wasn’t in every room of the big penthouse your husband owned.
And so you prepared everything without your husband’s knowing. To say it clearly, you made someone else prepare it because you were scared of hurting the baby, being overprotective since it took you so long to get pregnant.
Maybe you were too scared, but you knew that Jumin wouldn’t have wanted you to overwork yourself.
The room was decorated in gold and black colors and you also baked a big cake on your own, deciding to hide a long note into the cake, saying that you were pregnant. At the end of the note, a copy of your first picture of the baby was attached, showing Jumin that whatever was happening was real.
You knew that he would be more than happy to see this, to know about the baby you were carrying.
,,Finally ready,’’ you said and sighed, looking at your clock, knowing that at 8 PM everyone would come home to stay into the room before Jumin would come home with Jaehee from the office.
The first guest to arrive was your father in law. To your surprise, he didn’t take his girlfriend along, but since Jumin always had to prepare a second party for his status, your in-law promised you to bring her along the next day. Well, you knew that this wasn’t going to last for a long time, but to make the elder happy, you nodded and smiled, telling him that you were more than happy to be able to get to know her.
Lastly, Seven, Zen, and Yoosung arrived. Zen and Seven were arguing whether or not the red haired boy should kidnap his Elly.
,,I need to go home with you. You can’t take that fur ball with you!’’ he hissed.
You left the men alone for a second before you waited for the final guest - your husband, of course followed by Jaehee who just sent you a message about her arrival.
Jumin was puzzled at first when you invited Jaehee inside and led the way to another part of the penthouse, but since it was you who asked, it was okay, you were his wife after all.
The surprise party, however, made him emotional and you knew that Jumin was touched just by his mimicry and how he stood there, you knew your husband.
,,I have a present for you, but you will only be allowed to have it at midnight!’’ you teased him after he gave you a long, lovely kiss.
Staying awake almost four hours more was hard for you. Since you knew that you were pregnant, you were even sleepier, but for Jumin you could manage to stay awake. You had to.
,,IT’S MIDNIGHT! BRING THE CAKE!’’ Seven screamed in excitement, making you a bit nervous.
Yoosung carried the cake into the room after you kindly asked him to, as you all sang ,,Happy Birthday’’ to him.
,,Thank you, my love,’’ he whispered and kissed you again, ready to blow his candles.
,,Before you cut the cake, Jumin,’’ you said as he stood there with a knife already ,,here’s something you have to pull out. Read it out loud,’’ you said.
You pressed your lips together as you waited for him to pull out the long white note until finally the first words appeared. ,,I…..’’ he said, he smirked, thinking that the note was ,,I love you’’
,,A….M…..P...R...E...G…-’’ he looked at you in shock before he pulled the note even quicker out of the cake, seeing the last picture of an ultrasound.
For the first time, all members of the RFA saw Jumin Han cry real tears by the man they always called ,,cold hearted’’ as he hugged his wife and kissed her with a lot of love, thanking her over and over again.
,,This is the best present ever,’’ he hiccuped and kneeled down to kiss your flat belly.
Zen
,,You will surely be a good mother!’’ the chocolate lady praised you as she gave you the white chocolate with the baby sonogram of your baby.
You quickly went back in and prepared a few more things. The chocolate was ready, you thought you would now take a little package and put balloons around the chocolate so that it would float up as soon as Zen would open the box.
Since the chocolate was in a cute packaging too, you put a note on it saying to open it immediately to see the surprise.
You guessed that this would be the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.
Then you also decided to bake a few muffins, not just for Zen, but also because you wanted to slowly get used to the idea of baking cakes for your future child.
That evening, you tried your best to act normal because you were overloading with happiness and excitement.
The next day, you woke up pretty quickly. One of the reasons was because you had the urge to throw up and the other reason was because you wanted to drop the news as soon as possible.
,,Mc, did you get checked up? Like-’’
,,Hyun, it’s just a virus. That’s why I had to cancel our reservation at the hospital,’’ you groaned as you again had to empty your stomach.
,,Of course, baby,’’ he whispered, holding your hair as he kept rubbing your back.
At times like these, he wished you could be like him, healing and getting better quickly.
But he also knew that you were a strong woman and didn’t have any problems.
,,Okay, I’m better,’’ you gasped as you went to wash your mouth. The taste you had in your mouth wasn’t really yummy and so you brushed your teeth before you decided to give him his present.
,,Here, for you,’’ you whispered as you laid back in bed, feeling a bit lightheaded.
Zen’s eyes went soft as he saw the big box, placing it on the floor and sitting next to it to open the present.
Just like you wanted, the balloons flew up, pulling the chokolate up.
Zen quickly grabbed the present and read the note out loud.
,,I’m excited. I never thought that Valentine’s Day could become so special one day,’’ he laughed.
You slowly teared up as you thought about how much better and special this day would become.
Zen opened the chocolate and inspected the picture.
He stayed silent for a second before he looked up at you again.
,,Really?’’ he asked you, whispering as his tears found a way out.
,,Really, Hyun, really.’’
Yoosung
You hurried home after the appointment, thinking about the best way to tell your husband that you were pregnant.
After you decided to take a look at some Pinterest boards, you decided to sew a little baby out of his clothes.
You once saw it in a drama and it was, in your opinion, the cutest idea.
And so, you took an old shirt of his and went down to the city, buying some stuff to fill your baby.
It took you the whole day to sew that baby, to first cut the material, put it together in a little cute baby outfit, and patch it together.
You were really happy back then; your teacher taught you how to sew at the machine and your mother bought you one back then.
Right when Yoosung entered, you just finished the little baby.
You were proud of yourself and were more than happy that you could hide the present before he came home.
,,Hello, my wife,“ he smiled and kissed you, seeing that you were in a better mood than in the morning.
,,You haven't cooked yet? Wanna do it together?“ he asked you, seeing that nothing was prepared.
,,Oh, I need to be honest. I took a good rest today and I forgot that it was already so late,“ you lied.
,,It’s okay! I can also order some sushi or-”
,,No sushi!“ you called, looking away.
,,Can we eat pizza?“ you asked him, trying to hide the fact that you preferred to not eat raw fish.
And so you both did, although Yoosung was kind of puzzled when you didn’t take the wine you both usually drank while eating pizza.
The day went by and the next morning finally arrived. You were happy to wake up just in time to set the table, prepare the breakfast, and put his bag with the baby doll on his seat.
,,Happy eighth anniversary,“ he whispered and kissed you, hugging your body from behind, nuzzling his head in your neck.
,,Eight years already,“ you sighed happily and turned around, ready to give him a deep, lovely kiss on his lips.
Yoosung quickly sat down, giving you his hand over the table as he put some sugar in his coffee.
,,That’s for you,“ he told you, giving you an envelope.
You smiled.
,,The bag in front of you is from me for you,“ you told him, as if someone else could have made him a present.
The both of you decided to open your present at the same time.
And once again, you surprised each other.
,,You want to adopt a child?“ you asked him as he almost screamed ,,YOU’RE PREGNANT?“
You both laughed at the same time. Yoosung quickly got up from his chair, getting on his knees as he kissed your belly with tears in his eyes.
,,I knew it! No sushi, no wine! I knew it!“ he sobbed, stroking the place where his baby was supposed to be.
,,Such a little human being will grow up here. Can you believe it?“ Yoosung asked you.
You were also now sobbing, shaking his head as you stroked his fluffy hair ,,Finally, Yoosung, finally,“
Jaehee
Your girlfriend couldn’t wait to hug you, hold you in her arms and so, as soon as she caught a glimpse of you at the train station, she hugged you, sobbing into your shoulder.
It was cold outside and you luckily came back right in time before the holy days of Christmas.
Jaehee still hugged you when suddenly, something soft and cold touched your nose, making you look up into the sky.
,,The first snow,’’ you whispered, making Jaehee loosen up her hug and look up too.
She chuckled as she knew that you loved the snow.
A few seconds later, the both of you walked hand in hand towards your shop. Jaehee was happy as you seemed to be in a happy mood.
Your fingers felt hot as hers were entangled in yours, stroking the skin of your finger with her thumb.
,,Go and take a warm shower. I will make us some food,’’ she mumbled and quickly left you alone.
And so, while the warm water of your shower hit your body, warming you up and relaxing your muscles, you thought of a way to tell Jaehee that you two finally did it.
Suddenly, you got a very good idea. Lately, you were into sublime stitching and found it hard to find new things to stitch, but now that you had your first ultrasound, you finally had a new challenge to take!
You copied your first ultrasound and sent it to your favorite artist, who was more than happy to make your ultrasound into a pattern with ink.
Just like always, you ironed the picture with the hot iron on your fabric, but this time you didn’t buy the pattern and indeed used your own.
You smiled as you saw how good it worked out. You were really proud of yourself that the first step was already so well done!
But you couldn’t keep going as Jaehee called you to open the shop with her.
And so the weeks went by. You luckily didn’t have any symptoms that could have ruined the surprise for Jaehee.
You wanted to give it to her as a Christmas present after all.
You kept stitching along the line, slowly and accurately so that everything would look nice and neat.
When you finally finished, you felt yourself becoming emotional. This was now real, this present and this baby was really happening to you and Jaehee, who waited for so long for this.
The last step was to wash the fabric so that the blue ink would disappear, making it look once again much more beautiful.
,,I can’t wait for Christmas,’’ you chuckled to yourself and put the present into a little box.
,,You really didn’t have to,’’ Jaehee whispered the morning of Christmas Eve.
The both of you sat on your couch in front of your Christmas tree.
It was warm and cozy in your living room as you both were wearing the same Christmas hoodies.
You excitedly looked over to Jaehee as she opened the box.
Her fingers followed every stitched line, her lips began to tremble and it seemed as if she couldn’t breathe calmly.
You were getting worried, but soon enough Jaehee looked at you.
,,Is that yours?’’ she asked her, her voice was cracking.
,,Yes. I didn’t have the flu or covid, I’m pregnant,’’ you laughed.
Jaehee hugged you, not too strong, stroking the back of your hair as she enjoyed the warmth of your body.
,,I don’t have such a great present,’’ she laughed and kissed your cheek.
Saeyoung
The birthday of the twins was slowly approaching. By now you were eight weeks pregnant.
You still had symptoms and felt sick. Sometimes you couldn’t even cook, making Saeyoung worry for you, but you knew that this was worth it.
You chuckled as you thought about your self made toy you prepared as a present for Saeyoung. It was a toy he had to play first before the news of your pregnancy would be announced.
It took you a while to construct everything.
It was a game where he had to put cards together. To put them together, he had to form different sentences in different languages.
Matching cards would give him a letter and afterwards those letters would give him the sentence ,,You will be soon a daddy!’’ but of course, he had to also form this sentence.
Since it was kind of difficult to perform this all in Hangul, you decided to make it an english game.
For Saeran, you prepared a little teddy bear which would say ,,Hello Uncle’’ but of course, he wasn’t allowed to open his present until Saeyoung played with his present.
The 11th of June quickly approached you guys as you woke up one morning. Luckily, you still didn’t feel sick.
You hugged Saeyoung as you woke him up with a sweet kiss ,,Good morning,’’ you whispered, making him groan, but not open his eyes.
,,Hello, how did you sleep?’’ you asked him when he turned his body to you and hugged you back.
,,Good, but being awake next to you is better,’’ he whimpered and almost fell asleep again.
,,Ya! Your birthday breakfast is waiting for you!’’ you hissed and laughed.
He immediately jumped up, yelling for his brother. ,,SAERAN, YOU ARE TURNING A YEAR OLDER!’’ he laughed, making you shake your head.
But you were happy that Saeyoung finally found his brother. You could just imagine how it must have been for him to miss his second half for all those years.
And even though Saeran didn’t admit it, he probably missed his brother too.
The three of you were sitting around the table as they ate their soup. It was a special soup for their birthday.
,,I will give you your birthday present later when the other’s are here too,’’ you told them both, making your husband especially sad. ,,You always want your present at midnight and now I have to wait?’’ he asked you, whining as you laughed at him.
,,It’s special, that’s why,’’ you told him, making him sulk.
,,My presents are always special,’’ he whined but didn’t say anything anymore as he enjoyed his food.
You were nervous as the RFA came one by one. By now, you guys were always together. You saw yourselves as a family.
,,Okay guys, because of you I couldn’t open my present!’’ he whined and finally unpacked the box. At first he looked a bit… puzzled, which made you chuckle.
You explained to him how to play and even persuaded him to play on his own.
,,Boring that everyone is watching me,’’ he mumbled as Saeran kept patting his present, you told him he wasn’t allowed to open it yet.
,,Is that german? ,,Wir müssen…’’ what?’’ he laughed.
But one by one he did it and finally had the single letters that would give the hidden message.
,,I am pregnant, I don’t even have to think about it, that’s the message, right?’’ he said and immediately looked up at you, already in tears.
By now, Saeran too, unpacked his bear and in a big family embrace, Saeyoung cried into your shoulder.
Saeran
After you were brought to the maternity ward and they did some more tests, it seemed that it was official that you were pregnant!
Saeran got up as soon as he saw you walking out of the big doors.
,,Is it something serious? It took you so long and no one wanted to say anything,’’ he whined and took your hand between his, massaging your palm as he slowly walked out with you.
,,I just had to wait a long time,’’ you lied and smiled at him, trying to convince him that you just had a mere virus.
And so the days passed again and you worked on a present for Saeran who was a soon to be father.
You put a lot of thought into it and decided that doing something handmade would be much better than just telling him.
That’s why you decided to give him something your baby would get - a handmade baby blanket with his favorite flower patched on it.
You put a lot of hard work into it, using the best material and the most beautiful colors.
And since the gender was still unknown, you decided to go for a light beige color with some red details.
In the end, the blanket looked just too cute and it hit you - you were pregnant.
The day was nothing special when you told Saeran that you would like to go and eat an ice cream with him, something he agreed to immediately.
He took a few hours free and hand in hand with you, he went to buy ice cream for the both of you, enjoying the sun on your skin and the nature around you.
,,What do you have in that bag?’’ he asked you after a while, still licking his ice cream as he pointed at the little bag in your hand.
,,Nothing,’’ you began, ,,just something little I want to give you,’’ you told him, making him excited to know what you would like to give him.
To prevent the blanket from getting dirty, you decided to wait until the both of you were finished with the ice cream, giving you the chance to talk to Saeran a bit more about his day and your day.
,,Okay, now I’m ready,’’ he nodded and looked at the bag. He couldn’t wait to see what you had prepared for him in there.
He opened the bag and pulled out the self made blanket, observing every little detail.
He tilted his head as he looked at the length of it.
,,It’s a bit too little for you, right?’’ you laughed, making him laugh too.
Suddenly, Saeran saw a little note in there.
,,It’s not for you, it’s for your baby, Dad. Congratulations…’’ he whispered and put the note back into the bag, looking at the tiny blanket again.
You knew that he was happy, but probably overwhelmed with this news and so you decided to wait a few moments.
But as soon as the news arrived in his head, Saeran couldn’t prevent himself from hugging and thanking you a thousand times.
,,You...you always make me so happy…!’’ he whined.
,,I will give my best to become a good father,’’ he said with a trembling voice.
,,I won’t become like my parents. I will be a good one and I will protect you and our unborn child,’’ he whispered, his hand on your belly by now.
,,I promise,’’ he nodded.
,,I trust you, Saeran.’’
Jihyun
As soon as Saeyoung heard those words, he began to tear up and hugged you, patting your back. He was just so happy for you and Jihyun as he knew that the both of you had a hard time lately.
,,Let’s get back and prepare something!’’ he said in his mischievous smile and helped you to get into the car.
Of course, to keep it fair, Saeyoung wasn’t allowed to tell anybody. Instead, the both of you planned on how to tell Jihyun who would soon come back home.
,,How about I make a computer print of your future family and he has to paint it in little colors? We will just make it with so many details that he won’t notice from the beginning that it’s a family picture of four!’’ Saeyoung chuckled. You loved the idea and were more than happy to go with it.
You and Saeyoung worked on the details while the rest of the RFA weren’t at your home as they too had their personal lives.
Saeyoung and Saeran, however, stayed with you partly because Saeyoung prepared the surprise with you, but also because they both were worried.
When you finally finished with the layout and Saeyoung helped you to print it out, you wouldn’t be able to tell that this was a picture of a family.
,,I wonder how he will react,’’ you laughed and thanked him for his hard work.
,,Those were the longest six weeks I’ve ever experienced,’’ you whimpered when Jihyun finally arrived at home, Lucy on your hand, also more than happy to see her father.
Hugging the both of you, he nodded in agreement.
,,I also missed the both of you,’’ he said honestly.
Quickly letting him step in, you took his stuff and helped him to unpack before you told him that dinner would be soon ready.
,,I have a little challenge for you,’’ you laughed as you went back to your room to take the picture you prepared for him.
,,Oh, I saw that on Instagram,’’ he nodded, as he remembered the logic of the painting.
,,Yes, but I did this myself,’’ you said proudly, handling it over to him.
He laughed happily ,,I’m excited to work on it, thank you!’’ he laughed.
,,Yes, but there’s a hidden message in it so you need to hurry with it!’’ you told him, not knowing that you encouraged him to work on it the whole night after you fell asleep that night.
In the morning, when you just opened your eyes and saw his black bags below his eyes, paint all over his hands, you knew that he overworked himself.
,,Will we be able to adopt a child?’’ he asked you, his voice was raspy as he asked you, tears in his eyes, excited to know the answer.
You slowly shook his head, making him wonder if his sleepy eyes made him see something he just wanted to see.
But you didn’t want to tease him anymore so you finally told him. ,,I’m pregnant, Jihyun. I wasn’t sick back then, I was just… pregnant! I was having symptomes. We will have a child together soon!’’ you told him, slowly getting up from the bed.
,,I’m so happy,’’ he sighed and kissed your belly.
,,I will never go away for such a long time, I swear,’’ he whispered and then, with his knees on the floor and head on your lap, slowly fell asleep….
Vanderwood
You observed Vanderwood, noticing that the mood was being off for a few days.
To be honest, it was happening ever since you told him that you wanted to stop trying to have children for the time being.
Your eyes followed Vanderwood as he walked out and took out a cigarette, sluggishly smoking and looking around.
You began to chew on your lips as you thought back, maybe beginning the topic with ,,Yo’’ wasn’t the best way to start.
But there was no way back now and it didn’t matter anymore since you finally got pregnant.
You hoped that a day later, Vanderwood’s birthday, this silence between the both of you would be over finally as you wanted to surprise him with a self made cake which said, ,,Hello Daddy!’’
Of course, you firmly told him to not look at it, something he would never do since he knew how much you liked to surprise him.
,,Vandy,’’ you called him softly.
,,Don’t call me like that,’’ he groaned, a bit annoyed as he closed the door.
,,Are you angry at me?’’ you asked him, scared for his answer.
Vanderwood turned his body to you.
He didn’t look happy and you just noticed.
,,I’m not angry, I’m just… I have the feeling that you don’t really care about having a family with me while I work my ass of and-’’
,,Woah, what gives you that idea?’’ you asked him, slowly getting off the couch and looking at him.
You didn’t want to fight with him, but his comment… hurt you deeply.
,,Last time, sorry, but you approached the topic totally wrong!’’ he hissed, on his way to the kitchen.
You followed him there. He was partly right, you thought.
,,But, I was just… I didn’t know how to tell you, but this doesn’t mean that I don’t care,’’ you told him, your trembling voice making him look back at you.
,,I know. It still hurts though,’’ he whispered and opened the fridge to take out a cold drink.
,,You know what,’’ you told him, holding onto the door of the fridge and pulling out the cake you made for him which was covered with something so that he couldn’t see what was written on it with the chocolate.
,,What-’’ before Vanderwood could even say anything, you showed him the cake you prepared for him with the note written on it that you were pregnant.
,,It’s true. I was mean and I should have approached you differently, but I was so down, I didn’t think I could get pregnant anytime soon and- just don’t say anymore that I don’t care,’’ you finished your sentence and looked up, your tears were rolling down your cheeks as you were unsure of what to do now.
But Vanderwood knew what he had to do and softly took you in his arms, laying you down in the other room and kissing your neck.
,,You destroyed my surprise,’’ he whispered, giving you a kiss again.
,,Sorry for being selfish. I was mean while you’ve been carrying my baby,’’ he honestly apologized, stroking your flat womb as you sobbed into his shoulder.

tough decisions — j.oleksiak
Tumblr media
a/n: finally another pcos fic, this is based around my symptoms with it, hopefully it’s relatable to most of you!!
warnings: pcos, anxiety, surgery and mentions of covid
“Hey, babe, I should be there in ten.” Jamie answered cheerfully, assuming you were calling to see how far out he was. “I’m sorry, J.” You mumbled, hiding back a groan at the pain tightening in your lower stomach. “I just don’t feel good tonight, could we reschedule?” You asked, letting out a small wince as you leaned against the counter. “Of course, are you ok? You sound hurt.” The concern in his voice only made you feel worse, you managed to hum in response, “oh.” He mumbled into the phone, clearly picking up your message.
You two had been dating for a little over six months, and now that he thought of it, he couldn’t recall a single time when you were on your period and miserable like this. “Did you want me to come over? I can bring you dinner?” He offered, waiting hopefully for your response, “actually that would be great.” You sighed, wanting nothing more than to take a hot shower and hope the cramps got better once you ate. “I’ll unlock the door for you, I’m going to take a shower.” You told him, adding a soft goodbye and an I love you, he repeated the sentiment, a frown etched onto his face as he stopped to get dinner.
You had just slipped on some loose fitting clothes when you heard Jamie walk in the front door of your apartment, “Y/N?” He called out, smiling when you rounded the corner in a shirt of his that you had stolen “accidentally”. He held a bouquet of flowers in front of him along with a takeout bag from your favorite restaurant, “hi pretty girl.” He murmured when you pouted at him, “I love you.” You sighed, burying your face in his chest, “I love you too.” He chuckled lightly, kissing the top of your head. “Wanna eat something? It’ll make you feel better.” He offered, getting a huff in response, he took it as a yes and walked with you wrapped up in his arms to the table. “It hurts.” You explained with a hiss as you sat down in the chair, reaching for your food, he knew it took a lot for you to admit you were in pain, “is it always this bad?” He asked with furrowed brows, taking a bite of his food as you nibbled on yours, suddenly feeling nauseous and worried eating would make it worse. “When I get it, yeah.” You told him, going on to explain the issues you struggled with, the missed cycles, heavy cycles, cramps, all of it. If you could tell him you love him, you can tell him this.
He nodded as you spoke, absorbing the information you spit out, “m’sorry baby.” He sighed, not liking having to watch you like this. You shrugged, finally forcing some of your food down, some relief coming over you as you had something in your stomach. He didn’t push you any further as he saw the look in your eyes, the way you got quiet, he cleaned up the table, leaving you with your plate as you continued to take bites here and there. “I’m going to go change.” He kissed the top of your head before walking down the hall to your room where he knew he had a pair of sweatpants stashed away.
Well he was in there, he quickly googled what you had told him, pcos was on repeat in his mind so he wouldn’t forget it as he typed it into his phone, he read as much as he could, being sure not to be gone suspiciously long.
He got the gist of it, irregularities, heavier cramps, bleeding, mood swings, particularly sad ones.
Infertility. He pushed that one to the back of his mind, he wanted kids with you and while it was early to say that, he knew you two would figure it out when the time came.
When Jamie came out you were nearly half asleep at the kitchen table, your eyes were heavy and when you looked at him he could see the blankness in them. “You can go home, Jamie, I’m probably just going to go lay down.” You sighed, standing up and clearing your spot. “No, I wanna stay with you.” He answered instantly, giving you a soft smile as spun to face him. “Really?” You couldn’t help but grin, catching him off guard, “of course.” He rolled his eyes with a smile, out stretching his arms for you. “Good, sometimes Im scared to be alone when it hurts so much.” You whispered up to him, pecking his lips when he leaned down to you. “You know you can call me whenever, even if I’m on a roadie. I’d call you back as soon as I saw it.” He explained to you as you pulled him along towards your bedroom, you nodded as a cramp started up.
“Come here.” He demanded gently, flopping down on the bed and pulling you with him, he adjusted you so you were laying on top of him. He lightly began massaging your lower back, feeling you relax into him. “That feels good.” You hummed, blindly running a hand through his hair, knowing he loved when you did that. He smiled, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“J?” You asked after a while, he’d stopped rubbing your back once you didn’t feel the pain anymore, “yeah?” He shifted slightly, careful not to move you too much. He turned his head to meet your eyes where you were resting on his shoulder. “I left out one thing about it.” You sighed, shuffling yourself to be sitting up more, your boyfriend nodded, although he already knew what you were going to say, he wanted to let you say it. He rested his hand in your lap for you to play with. “Go ahead baby.” He assured you, when you met his soft caring eyes you couldn’t help but get emotional. “It’s super common for pcos to cause infertility and I know we’re not there yet but you deserve to know now, and if–“ you stopped to breathe and the tears started flowing. He rushed to sit up with you, “there’s no ifs, I’m here for the long haul, ok?” He assured you, cupping your face to keep you looking at him. “I already knew that baby, I looked it up while you were eating.” He added, frowning when you cried harder. “You looked it up?” You sniffled, “that’s so sweet!” You groaned, hugging him tightly. He sighed into your hair, “I think you need some sleep.” He laughed, feeling you nod against him.
“Goodnight baby.” He pressed a kiss to your forehead as he laid down with you, relishing in the small smile on your lips as you finally felt at ease for the night.
***
Time had passed, and you both fell into a routine, eventually moving in together once you hit the one year mark. And that was already some time ago.
But over the last few months you both had noticed a change in your symptoms and decided to schedule an appointment with your doctor.
***
Jamie got out of his truck the second he got your text that said you were coming out, due to covid protocols put in place, he was unable to come in with you for your appointment, which made you even more on edge than you thought it would. You figured you’d done it plenty of times before, but knowing that he couldn’t come inside was terrifying.
He watched the doors of the medical center with concern as he rubbed the back of his neck, when he saw you walk out, eyes darting to find him as you shoved your mask into your purse, tears already pricking the corner of your eyes. He stepped forward, taking his weight off the side of his truck as you spotted him, “hey, hey, Y/N.” Jamie mumbled as you wrapped your arms around him in a shaky hug. He felt his heart clench as you cried into his shirt, “baby, talk to me.” He spoke gently, pushing you back enough to meet your eyes. “Surgery.” You squeaked out, you both knew it was a possible outcome, having done the watch and wait method for over a year. He listened intently as you recited nearly everything word for word that the doctor had said.
***
That was three months ago, a simple surgery that plenty of people have and it goes smoothly, turned into a three month process, between the pre op, and the scheduling, and the ultrasounds.
But now, now it was finally time for you to go in, and you were terrified and calm all at once. You weren’t scared for the anesthesia, or for the actual removal of the cysts, you were worried that something would go wrong and they’d have to remove your entire ovary, granted that would still leave you with one, but that didn’t make it any less disheartening.
The doctors had come and made their rounds, each one going over everything with you, over the statistics and the possible complications, only furthering your anxiety. When your gynecologist came in, dressed in her scrubs and ready to have you wheeled off to the operating room, she could see the way you were panicking and squeezing Jamie’s hand tightly. “I know she’s going to be put to sleep, but is there something she can have to take the edge off?” Jamie asked as you looked over with a pleading face. “Yes, of course.” She came over and rested a hand on your shoulder, “you’re going to do great.” She assured you, giving Jamie a reassuring smile as well. The second she left the room you burst into tears, “no baby.” He gave you a soft smile, pulling his mask down to kiss your forehead, “it’s going to be ok, no matter what happens. You’re so tough.” He wiped under your eyes, looking over as the anesthesiologist came in, along with a nurse, “I’m going to give you something to take the edge off, you should feel it pretty quickly alright?” He explained, waiting until you agreed to connect it to your IV.
Jamie watched as you took a couple of deep breaths before looking at him with a much calmer face, he held in a chuckle, “you feeling it baby?” He asked you, giving you one last hand squeeze, you nodded lazily. “Yeah.” You answered, already feeling sleepy, he couldn’t help but smile at how girlish it was making you act, “alright, I love you.” He reminded you with one more kiss to the forehead as they popped the brakes off the bed, “I love you.” You repeated as you stared up at the ceiling, he could tell you had a kind of blank face under your mask. He was just glad to see you not freaking out, as he felt the anxiety transfer to him as they rolled you away, leaving him in the empty room to wait for you.
It felt like an eternity to him, as he knew the surgery was only supposed to take thirty or so minutes, but he also knew they wouldn’t tell him anything until you were already waking up in recovery.
That was nearly three hours later, and he literally jumped to his feet when the doctor came in. She assured him everything went as good as she expected, it was just more difficult to get too, nothing went wrong and you were coming out any moment. He thanked her repeatedly as he felt his heart rate settle, after staring at a wall for so long, he turned to Google and that only worsened his anxiety on why it was taking so long.
When they finally brought you in, you still hadn’t seen the doctor because you had been so out of it, so you instantly looked at him with wide eyes, more awake now. “You did good, baby, don’t worry.” He assured you, standing beside the bed once they locked it in place, the nurse smiled as she charted everything on the computer beside you. “Are you Jamie?” She asked with a giggle, making your face heat up under your mask, “yes.” He answered, not tearing his eyes off you as he could see the puffiness in them from your breakdown earlier. He laced his hand with yours, rubbing it reassuringly as you sighed in relief. “She was asking for you before she could even keep her eyes open.” The nurse told him, earning a soft chuckle from his mouth. “Sounds like her.” He hummed in agreement, tuning into the nurses words as she started telling you what you needed to do before they would let you go, both of them surprised when you did them instantly, the doctor signing off on your release as you seemed more than fit to go home in the care of Jamie.
He was more than attentive to your every need, almost to the point where you got annoyed, but you knew he meant well so you let him do whatever he thought you needed.
You were extremely grateful to have him here with you, knowing that just because you’d gotten it fixed this one time, doesn’t mean it won’t come back. He didn’t let you think like that for long as he brought you back to the present with a gentle kiss to your temple as you leaned on his chest. “S’proud of you.” He mumbled, even though you didn’t do anything, he knew it took a lot for you to make the decision to do this. You didn’t have to answer as you curled further into him, a silent thank you for everything.

Runaway Fuck Buddy
Kevin Atwater x Reader
Y/N slipped out of bed, wanting to be gone before he woke up. She came over to share some news that she had gotten, but he had other plans. You see, they had started out as friends but that changed after a horrible week with work. They had both been going through a dry spell and needed some stress relief, so they had decided to sleep together. They were just having some fun, it wasn’t supposed to be anything serious.
But that changed when she came up pregnant.
Sat in a paper gown, Y/N stared off into space. She was hoping that the home test was just a false positive, feeling like she was not ready to be a mom. Hell, she hadn’t even told Kevin that she was feeling off or that she had taken a pregnancy test.
Her doctor said that they were going to do a blood test, then if it came back positive- they would do an ultrasound. That thought seemed to have called the doctor as there was a short knock on the door as it opened. “Hello again, Ms. Y/L/N. I’ve got your test results here,” She waved the paperwork and smiled, “I know that you were hoping to hear different news, so I am not going to say anything. I am just going to leave this here,” she set the paperwork on the chair next to her, “I will be outside, getting the ultrasound ready.” The doctor left the room, wanting to give Y/N space.
Y/N pressed a hand to her stomach, not feeling anything out of the normal. “I am scared. I don’t think that I will be able to do this on my own, but I also don’t think I can tell Kevin about you.” She didn’t need to look at the paperwork to know that her fear was coming true.
She had come to Kevin’s place with copies of her test results and the sonogram, just in case he didn’t believe her. She froze when he had opened the door wearing the ‘kiss the cook’ apron that she had gotten him as a birthday gift. His big grin and sweet kiss had momentarily distracted her from the task at hand. After dinner, Kevin had wanted to cuddle which turned into sex that felt more like lovemaking then fuckbuddy sex. Despite being a man with great stamina, Kevin had fallen asleep right after sex. Y/N wasn’t as lucky.
With him asleep, Y/N snuck out of the apartment--only leaving a note saying goodbye. As she walked towards her packed car, Y/N finally released the tears she was holding back. She had never wanted to say goodbye like this, but Y/N didn’t think she had it in her to say it to his face.
Kevin’s POV…
Kevin stretched, turning to face the empty side of his bed. With his eyes still closed, he reached out for Y/N-- wanting some morning cuddles. His eyes shot open as soon as he didn’t feel her warmth next to him. He was quick to slip on his discarded boxers and go off in search of her.
“Y/N?” He called, sleep heavy in his voice. He moved downstairs, hoping she was just making coffee. “Y/N, love, where are you?” He poked his head into the kitchen.
As he stepped into the kitchen, Kevin noticed a note taped to his coffee machine. He slowly plucked it off, praying that she had simply left for work early. Those prayers were quickly dashed as he read the short message.
Kevin,
I am sorry.
PS.. Just press start on the coffee pot.
Goodbye,
Y/N
2 years later…
Y/N’s POV
Y/N never thought that she would ever return to Chicago, fearing her secret getting back to Kevin. Nine months after leaving Chicago for New Orleans, Y/N gave birth to a handsome baby boy-- who she named Lorenzo. Lorenzo grew into a near spitting image of his father, who Y/N shared stories of anytime she could. She knew he didn’t really understand what she was saying, but that wouldn’t stop her.
Y/N took a deep breath as she walked up the front steps of the 21st District, Lorenzo asleep in her arms. A random patrol officer held the door for her, which she was thankful for. Y/H’s hands shook nervously as she spotted Trudy Platt standing behind the desk. They had really bonded over the years as Y/N would bring lunch for her every time she brought Kevin food.
Caressing her son’s back, Y/N took the final step towards Trudy’s desk. “What can I do for you?” Trudy asks, not looking up from her paperwork.
Y/N cleared her throat. “I am looking for Kevin Atwater, do you know if he is in or not?”
Y/N’s familiar voice caused Trudy to look up, “Y/N?” Trudy gasped, shocked to see her long lost friend.
Tearing up, Y/N nodded. “Yes, Trudy. It’s me.”
Truidy rushed around the desk to pull her into a hug. “Oh, you don’t know how much I’ve missed you.”
Y/N couldn’t really hug back as her arms were full with Lorenzo. “I missed you too, Trudy.” She whispered, leaning into the hug.
Trudy pulled away, eyes glazed over. “Now!” She cleared her throat. “Kevin is upstairs, let me take you to him.”
“Thank you,” Y/N stated softly, rocking back and forth to keep Lorenzo asleep.
Trudy led Y/N up the stairs, trying to quietly inform her of all the team gossip. As much as Y/N loved the 21st district gossip, her only focus was how Kevin was going to take the sleeping surprise in her arms.
“Guys, you’ve got a visitor.” Trudy stated, stepping away to let the team see Y/N.
Everyone froze, not thinking that they were going to get a blast from the past. Y/N used her free hand to awkwardly wave at them. Kim was the first to break, squealing loudly.
“Y/N! I missed you so much!” She yelled, wrapping her arms around her tightly.
Y/N stepped back and shhhed her, “I missed you too.” She pointed down to the sleeping toddler in her arms. “Sleeping baby…”
Kim gasped, “oooh, sorry.”
Y/N forgave her with a soft giggle, which signaled everyone but Kevin to come greet her. Kevin watched her move towards him with a frown. When did she have a baby? He thought, trying to remember if she was seeing someone else while they were sleeping together.
“Kevin?” Y/N questioned, trying to get his attention. “Do you think that we could talk?”
He snapped out of his daze and silently led her to the breakroom. He had so many questions. “Is he mine?” He didn’t turn to face her, not knowing if he could handle looking her in the eye as she answered.
“Yes.” She whispered, sitting down on the worn in loveseat--- body exhausted from hiding her secret for so long.
He slowly turned towards her, “when did you find out?”
“A few days before I left.” She admitted, shame seeping into her chest.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” His voice cracked.
She brushed a loose tear away, “I was planning on telling you the night we last slept together, but you distracted me with the romantic dinner and cuddles. Then we made love and I got scared. We weren’t a couple, or even exclusive, and I didn’t think that you would want the baby.” She blurted.
Kevin crouched down in front of her. “Why do you think I planned such a romantic evening for us?” He asked, wanting it to come to her naturally.
She shrugged, “I don’t know. I wasn’t really reading between the lines that night, Kevin.” Her tone was sharp, which meant that she wanted him to get to the point.
He sighed, reaching for her free hand. “I wanted to finally ask you to be my girlfriend. I was tired of hiding the fact that I had fallen in love with you, so I planned that night. But you were gone before I could ask, which hurt more than keeping those feelings hidden.”
Y/N couldn’t stop her sobs, “you were going to ask me to be your girlfriend?”
Kevin nodded, brushing her tears away. “And I would have been so excited to have a baby with you.”
She leaned into his gentle touch, “it’s never too late.” Her eyes flickered to her sleeping son. “I’ve told him all kinds of stories about you, so he knows you.”
Kevin’s eyes teared up, “Are you serious?”
Y/N grinned, nodding happily. “Like a heart attack.” She handed Lorenzo over to Kevin, “his name is Lorenzo Micah Atwater.”
Kevin cradled him with a calm smile on his face, “Hi, Lorenzo. I’m your daddy.”
