Head empty just yandere Heartslabyul as your imperial harem members
yan!poly!Heartslabyul x Reader
tw/cw: dub//con, gender-neutral reader but referred with masculine terms, drugging, manipulation, implied somnophilia, political machinations
you were raised with the expectation that you would shoulder the crown and rule over your people, justly and fairly. because of that, by the time you were crowned, your mindset compared to others your age was mature beyond what was considered normal.
you would be lying if you weren't bitter. Although you've long accepted that no one else could be trusted to rule this land and its people, you often wondered what your life would be like if there were no etiquette lessons and sword practices consuming your childhood.
In the end, it's all foolish dreams. You sit on your glittering golden throne and watch apathetically as the imperial court cheers and raises a toast to the new royal blood.
You were prepared for the responsibilities of a monarch, but what you weren't prepared for was your vassals' obnoxious nagging.
Your kingdom's tradition and laws have long allowed for polygamy, and your previous ancestors were known for their large harems. That day, you finally learned why: to ensure that royal blood would still be carried on, no matter what.
it's distasteful to you. you try to ignore your vassals all talking your ears off about potential consorts and lovers. but it's only so long before you crack.
Riddle Rosehearts was the first one to be by your side.
Not by choice. Duchess Rosehearts was the one who brought up her darling son to your vassals first, who then presented him to you. You would've turned them away, if not for the boy's eyes. Something in those stormy gray eyes makes your heart ache. His mother clutches her son's shoulder in a vice like grip that goes far beyond parental worry. Perhaps he too knows what it feels like to have no control over his life.
And so reluctantly, you let him join you as a consort.
It's not bad. Rather, he's so intelligent and diligent that you often ask him for help and advice on the kingdom's affairs, knowing that his strictness with himself and others provides a valuable impartial view that you can hardly find anywhere else. Besides, even if he is too stiff and formal at times, you appreciate his aid in paperwork that threatens to drown you.
in fact, he's so dedicated to carrying out his duty, that you find him nearly unrobed on your bed. Seven above, that nearly gave you heart palpitations. As attractive as he is, you have no intention of forcing the boy to give up his virginity against his will, even if he is married to you.
you explain this to him as patiently as you can, even when his face scrunches up in hurt and confusion, asking if he wasn't enough–but you shut that down immediately. He is more than enough, and he isn't obligated to do anything he doesn't want to, even if his mother taught him otherwise. the revelation shakes his mind, causing his walls and views to crumble before him in the following days. you would like to think he became less stiff as he realized his true worth.
That is when an unexpected addition to your harem happened.
Actually, it was completely by accident. Your servants had often brought you various snacks and sweets during your work, as you were infamous for being extremely cranky without the motivation of good food. When Riddle, of all people, brings you a strawberry tart while you’re in the middle of some particularly grueling financial budget papers, it gives you pause.
It's not that you didn't trust him. It’s just…this is the boy who refused to eat more than the healthy amount of sugar. Even if you offered him various pastries and cookies, he always shunned them, saying it wouldn’t be right for him to consume them.
So you spear a fork into the tart and bring it up to your mouth. When the bite meets your tongue, you swear your soul ascends to heaven. The taste is absolutely indescribable: the crust was flaky and light and the filling was sweet and creamy. This has got to be the best dessert you’ve ever tasted in your short life.
When you inquire Riddle about where he had gotten his hands on the tart, he shyly looks away from you and mumbles something under his breath. Not wanting to pressure him, you decide to let it go with a request to send your highest compliments to the patisserie.
Since then, he is the one bringing you various treats, all unbelievably delicious tasting, each time you’re stuck among paperwork and meetings. You’re grateful, even if it does make you wonder who this mysterious patisserie is. You’re not particularly familiar with every kitchen staff member, but you would think that you would be aware of such talent residing in your walls.
The truth finally comes to light when Riddle bursts into your office one day, in tears and hyperventilating, as he collapses in your arms. Alarmed, you quickly try to make sense of his babbling words.
It turns out that the very patisserie wasn’t in your kitchens, as you thought. No, they were humble commoner folk who ran a modest bakery in the shopping district. Riddle had been secretly visiting the bakery whenever he had the time to buy their desserts and to visit his friend, the owner’s son. Problem is, his mother had found out and was furious that her son would debase himself and his reputation like that.
Trey Clover stands behind his parents with wide, frightened eyes as Duchess Rosehearts shrieks on about how she’ll shut down the establishment herself for daring to corrupt her son and so forth. It’s rather annoying that she would go this far in the name of parental love–thankfully she stops screaming once she catches sight of you.
For once, you’re thankful for the absolute authority of imperial power. Duchess Rosehearts begrudgingly draws back when you block her attempt to defame the bakery. With a disappointed glare searing over the rest of you, she storms out of the bakery, door slamming shut behind her with a deafening crack.
You watch with mild interest as Riddle rushes forward and envelopes Trey in a tight hug that nearly knocks the tall man over. Despite the fact that Trey should be the one more distraught, he comforts Riddle with an ease that is almost suspiciously, dare you say, reminiscent of fondness. You look away before your thoughts dwell on it for too long.
Of course, it’s not all over. Trey’s parents kowtow at your feet with desperate gratitude, even if you beg them to stand up and raise their heads. As you glance over at Riddle in Trey’s arms, thoughts begin to arrange themselves into a proposal.
You and Riddle both know that Duchess Rosehearts would not stop here. Your presence was only a mere temporary hurdle in her plans to bring down Clover Patisserie, and there was no telling what she would do next. So, you propose something nearly unheard of to them.
Your vassals will throw an absolute fit if you openly sponsor their bakery and provide protection without something in exchange. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, but this is the only way that Trey and his family would be safe.
Surprisingly, he accepts the proposal with grace, becoming the second consort of your harem that very day.
He inquires if there’s anything he should be aware of for his duties, making you laugh raucously and Riddle blush to the roots of his strawberry hair. You wave him off, telling him he only needs to do the things he loves and to bring you more of those tarts that cured your stress during your work times. The smile he gives is radiant and you wonder how it is that Riddle managed to find someone who makes the sun pale in comparison.
The next day, Riddle tells you between paperwork that he gifted Trey his own kitchen to bake and cook, and you nod in approval. It’s too easy to tease him over his obvious favoritism toward the baker, and it only makes you want to bully him more when his face becomes tomato red.
The annual royal banquet comes up and it dawns on both you and Riddle that Trey will have to present himself to the feral noble masses who are itching to know who this new addition is. The three of you are thrown into a hurricane of preparations, not just for the banquet, but to prepare poor Trey, who has never attended such an elite event, for the troubles ahead.
It’s certainly not for naught, you think, as you rake your eyes over your consorts. Their beauty outshines everything, in your personal opinion. When you make the introductory speech, you’re well aware that the audience in front of you is not just dazzled by you, but rather the two handsome men dutifully hovering behind you.
You hope that Riddle is enough of a buffer when the nobles inevitably swarm them with excited and curious eyes. As much as you would like to help, you were stuck with your own battles of greeting various guests and entertaining those who were trying to butter you up.
The Diamond family catches your eye first.
It wasn't something positive, per say. But it is quite hilarious as the Marquis introduces you to his family: his wife, his two elder daughters and his only heir and son–only to find the aforementioned son missing. He’s left stuttering in shame even if you don’t particularly mind. It would’ve just been another boring greeting, but at that moment, his eyes dilates in fear, and when you follow his gaze, you see why.
Cater Diamond is currently flirting with Trey. And very openly, at that.
The sight should make you furious, and yet you nearly burst out laughing. How could there be anyone this daring? Surely the young man would know better than to try hitting on an imperial escort–if he was aware that is, of the man being one.
You decide to be the merciful mediator, because Riddle is nearly about to blow a gasket by Trey’s side and Trey looks like he’s too flustered to appropriately reject the advances of the eldest Diamond son.
“Lord Diamond, I do believe your father is looking for you.” His face is full of surprise at the image of you grinning at him in amusement when you gently break the awkward atmosphere.
After he leaves in a hurry, your two consorts apologize profusely for letting the flirtations happen. You reassure them that it was fine, that whatever they liked to do was not meant to be dictated under your actions. However, their faces still remain guilty and dismayed, as though you had reprimanded them instead.
The encounter remains in your mind as an entertaining memory. So much so, that when your vassals pester you again on adding another member to your harem, your mind immediately goes to sparkling jade green eyes and vivid orange hair.
If anything it was on a whim. Of course, you consulted both Trey and Riddle before sending the invitation, and they both agreed, even if Riddle looked much grumpier than usual. You hardly believed that the proposal would be answered favorably; after all, you’ve learned from recent gossip that Cater Diamond was a rather well known playboy. You doubt that kind of man would enjoy being tied to an imperial harem, even if it was under your lax control.
Perhaps that is why it’s so surprising that when he finally is in front of you, he acquiesces to your proposal with no hesitation at all. You ask in disbelief if he was sure of his decision, and he affirms it with no distaste in his voice. He notes your incredulous face, giving a cheeky grin in response.
Apparently he's been wanting to separate himself from his family for a while. The reason for his scandalous affairs were only attempts at getting his family to send him away, but he never succeeded. He says that your proposition finally gave him the freedom to be away from his family. While you don't want to pry further, it confuses you on how the Diamond family managed to raise such an eccentric young man.
Regardless, he becomes the third member of your harem. There were some small tensions between him and Riddle, but thankfully they resolved rather quicker than you expected–it seems that although Cater acted rather laid back, he has skills in organization and networking that even Riddle had to begrudgingly acknowledge. Ask him on the most recent gossip on the nobles and he's sure to provide you a list alphabetized on the latest trends around the capitol. Besides, it seems him and Trey get along quite well—too well, in a way. You don’t think you’ve seen a pair more prone to exchanging sensual, fleeting touches. Well, that’s not your problem.
You pray that nothing more eventful comes up in the meantime. Trey could only supply you with so much cake and cookies before you simply keeled over from sugar intake.
It seems the Seven were not on your side.
The Knights' jousting tournament was something that slipped your mind. When it gets brought up on the agenda in a meeting you silently curse. In the racket of you ascending to the throne and tending to your harem, you had neglected a big aspect to your royal life.
Personal guards. Normally, you should've had personally assigned soldiers that would accompany you for protection, but you've kept putting it off since you were able to protect yourself just fine with your abilities. And hiring new people, for any reason, was always going to be a long chore of vetting, paperwork, and tests.
The worst part is that Riddle and Trey joined in on the nagging. Going on about how they worried for your safety as if you weren't already trained in self defense and swordplay since your childhood days. Cater just shrugs when you look at him desperately for help and winks while running off to who knows where. Traitor.
Whatever. The sooner you pick, the sooner they'll get off your back.
Somehow this year's tournament is rather disappointing. Your three consorts give commentary throughout the matches, but it cannot stop the boredom starting to overtake you. Trey discreetly offers you a cup of wine and you take it gratefully.
The announcer signals the start of a match, with Ace Trappola and Deuce Spade taking a stand against each other. You hear Riddle faintly murmuring to your side about how they look rather young to be in a tournament like this. But you're rather absorbed in their intense fight, to the point where Cater teases you, asking if your taste included younger men. you roll your eyes and tell him to be quiet.
The fight ends in a spine tingling draw. Both men have their swords knocked out of their hands, but they’re still glaring at each other with such raw passion, that it’s fascinating. You know you will hardly meet any others that could catch your attention.
The end of the tournament ends with the roar of the crowd shaking the colosseum and the boisterous victory announcement. The two of them weren’t finalists, but that matters little to you. The victor was impressive. But they weren’t what you wanted.
“Ace Trappola, at your service, your majesty.”
“Deuce Spade, at your command, your majesty!”
The two greet you with enthusiastic fervor that has you chuckling in amusement. They are just the breath of fresh air you need.
“Starting from today, you two will be my personal guards.”
They’re left with gaping mouths at your bold statement. Your consorts, too, are sputtering at your side. Riddle is already trying to convince you to reconsider. Trey is gently trying to ask if you’re really sure about this. Even Cater, for all his light-hearted banter, chokes an incredulous scoff, covering his mouth with a fist.
Yes, there’s always the threat of treason, and they might be slackers, but if you were going to have to employ someone, you’d rather it be someone entertaining.
Regardless, the two are knighted and become your guards in record time.
For several days, a persistent headache haunts you with how much Ace loved riling up Riddle for no reason, or Deuce somehow managing to blunder his way into destroying several pieces of priceless antique furniture. It takes only two days for Riddle to kneel at your side, begging you to please just switch guards, these two were ridiculously incompetent and not worthy to serve under you, but you only pat his head and send him off back to his chambers to rest.
Trey and Cater were arguably more agreeable, but you don’t miss their tired looks whenever they had to clean up after Ace pissing off a passing noble or Deuce somehow causing a fire when tripping over an iron poker. It makes you feel guilty, of course, but you still cling on. Call it stubbornness but you didn’t want to let go of the two. It was selfish, you know, and monarchs could never afford to be selfish, but was it so wrong for you to indulge in the only pair who seemed to disregard your status?
The answer came one hot summer evening, when you’re on your balcony trying to unwind. Tonight was the usual designated night to share a bed with your consorts, but you deigned to postpone it since you weren’t in the mood nor did you want to force the other three to deal with your sour attitude. It’s halfway through your third glass of wine that you were a rustle, then after starting your fourth, you hear footsteps, to which you turn and just narrowly miss a dagger aiming for your heart. The blade instead rips a gash through your left shoulder, causing you to grunt in pain, alcohol thankfully dulling most of the throbbing sensations. Unfortunately, your mind is hardly clear enough to have a steady stance to fight back properly, let alone see the assassin’s face.
You can’t believe you were going to die pathetically like this. If this was going to happen anyway, you should’ve at least finished your glass of wine—
Shouts, then sounds of clanging steel, and a blur rushed into your sight, tackling the hooded assassin and knocking him down. Deuce’s familiar blue hair registers in your blurry vision, holding down the assassin, while Ace’s flaming hair and eyes come closer in view, shouting something that keeps fizzling out to nothing. Your world tilts to its side suddenly, a loud buzzing in your ears, and everything goes black.
When you come to, you find Riddle with swollen, tear-crusted eyes hugging your bedsheets, while Trey exhaustedly sits behind him next to a wash basin and several empty vials. Cater was out cold on the chaise beside him, several papers littering his body. It seems that the assassin was quite thorough, as they made sure that if their sharp blade didn’t manage to end your life, then the quick acting poison laced upon the steel would. Ironically, according to the herbalist and doctor, because you drank a whole wine bottle, the alcohol managed to slow it down somehow just long enough for you to get treatment. A miracle, indeed.
For once, the room is no longer filled with tension with all five of the men together, but a genuine sense of relief. You give the two of your knights soft smiles and a sincere thank you which makes their faces flush like a ripe strawberry. Your escorts don’t protest, mirroring the same gratefulness in their faces.
Something changes after that night.
Of course, you’re extremely glad that Riddle is no longer blowing his top off after Ace goads him about being a stick in the mud, but since when did Ace get into pet names with Riddle? Rosebud? The nickname makes you gag internally at how corny it is. Not to mention that Riddle…doesn’t mind being called that?! You watch in disbelief as he preens at the compliment from your knight, trying not to give away your incredulousness.
Okay…whatever, at least they’re getting along?
Deuce shows up with your slice of cake with a beaming glow that has you taken aback as you accept the offering. Ace mutters about how Trey must’ve spoiled him again behind you and it takes everything inside you to not spit out your cake mid-bite. Again? Trey was kind, you’ll give him that, and he did tend to baby Riddle and you but—
On second thought, perhaps this wasn’t out of left field.
Cater titters knowingly when you slump in bonelessly into the lounge next to him trying on new earrings and bangles.
“And what ails my dearly beloved king?” You choke on your spit before glaring at him. He giggles, dangly silver drops chiming in tune with the laughter.
“Not you too…” It felt like the whole day you felt like you were background to some of the most insufferable flirting, and with your escorts and knights, no less. You raise an eyebrow at the shiny, glittering jewelry scattered on the vanity in front of the man. All imperial escorts did have an allowance, but you don’t remember Cater buying anything like this nor gifting him such things. When you inquire about it, Cater gives you a smirk and a wink.
”Rido and the younger ones have been quite sweet lately.” The sentence makes you nearly fall off the lounge. He chortles and blows you a mock kiss with no shame as you sear him with another heated glare.
The way they started interacting starts making you feel self-conscious and…embarrassingly enough, left out. Which is such a foolish thought. Of course, who would in their right mind love the person who tied their lives to them, romantically and sexually? And even though they were in such a situation, the fact they all loved each other was a blessing, wasn’t it? How many history lessons did you have where the monarch’s harem wasn’t full of in-fighting? That meant more prosperity and stability political wise, and there wouldn’t be any trouble between you…
Yet, your heart clenches at the thought of Trey’s smile directed at Cater, of Riddle gently caressing Deuce’s head, and Ace slinging an arm around Deuce…none of that affection could ever be for you.
And it’s best that way. Your father’s voice echoes distantly in your mind. You watched him solemnly on his deathbed as he implored you to not make the same mistakes he did, before his breathing stilled, and his hand lay limp in yours.
Yes, perhaps it was better this way.
Still, your thoughts are still wandering that you barely jolt back to present to a cabinet meeting looking expectantly at you.
“Pardon, could you repeat that?”
Riddle watches in worry as a dark shadow crosses your face as the demand for your harem to grow is conveyed. He coughs, causing the members to turn to him instead.
”If that’s the case,” he states with no hesitation, “then I might have some candidates in mind.”
You turn to him with the same expression as the other cabinet members. It drops to shock at Riddle’s suggestion.
As much as you wanted to oppose it, there wasn’t really a good reason to. You sat with your arms crossed as Riddle explained the proposal to your very two personal knights. Ace and Deuce exchange looks, and something between them is communicated before they turn to you and accept, despite your hope they wouldn’t.
And so, your harem became five.
You put your foot down after that. It was already enough to have your heart cracked into pieces with the knowledge you could never have their love. You don’t think it could handle another.
So you tuck your heart away as you smile with them over dinner, bantering over whether flamingos can play croquet or dancing with them at various balls, heart racing as the chandelier lit their face with a warmth you’ve never seen before. If it means you won’t get hurt or distracted, then that’s all you could ask for.
One fateful day, a letter out of numerous piles is hand delivered by Cater and changes your entire world.
It’s sealed with the crest of the fairest queen in the seven realms, meaning only one person could have sent this—Vil Schoenheit. Inside the elegant letter details a marriage proposal that listed all the benefits of taking him as a spouse. With all the pros listed out so cleanly, it was clear that the queen already knew that you couldn’t reject it so quickly.
But you must dissolve your harem. I do not take kindly to those who are not loyal to me and me only.
Something in your heart cracks at reading the condition. You should feel elated, somewhat, that you no longer had to drag around escorts for formality. And for the others, it meant being freed from a duty they were all forced into. But tears threaten to bubble over your eyelashes, and when Riddle asks you if you’re alright, one manages to overflow and trail down your cheek like a traitorous banner.
You don’t want to let them go.
Trey asks for the nth time if you’re sure you don’t want him to be with you or if you want some tea before you shoo him away. Ace and Deuce were meant to guard your chambers, but you wave them off too, saying you’ll find stand-ins for their places. Riddle and Cater were harder to shake off, but even they, too, were finally shut out when you closed your bedroom doors in their worried faces.
In the end, like a coward, you couldn’t bring yourself to tell them what that letter was, despite them asking nonstop about it. You’re not sure what to tell them either—that they were being discarded of their positions, no longer needed, but it wasn’t out of maliciousness—oh, who would even believe you?
When Vil graces your halls, the looks your escorts give you is enough to fill you with burning hot shame.
Cater doesn’t have his usual mischievous smile when he greets the queen, his emerald eyes sharpening to pin pricks whenever Vil speaks. You should’ve scolded him, reigned him back, but the guilt eating away at you made you hesitate. It didn’t help that Riddle, for all his perfect etiquette, suddenly seemed to forget what formalities and niceties were around the queen. The regal queen gives you a strange look as Trey sets down a plate of pastries a little too hard in front of him. Your gaze darts away as you sip the tea in front of you nervously, flanked by Ace and Deuce, their scowling faces too apparent.
They’re not dumb. Royals don’t visit other realms willy-nilly often. And it’s clear what Vil is here for.
The next day leaves you lethargic and sluggish, but you try to pull through, if only for appearances. While you stroll through the gardens with Vil, you try to avoid the burning stares of your guards behind you, no doubt dissecting each and every bit of your conversation with the queen. They pull you away as soon as the clock hits the afternoon hour, stating you had duties to attend to and so on and so forth. You excuse yourself and hope you don’t look like a mess to Vil, whose appearance is still immaculate despite the heavy winds and hot sun.
You try to focus on the stack of papers in front of you, despite the edges of your vision blurring and your head spinning. Taking the last sip of what remained of your tea, you squint uselessly at the words as Riddle murmurs something to your right about dinner and farewell banquets. The last thing you remember is the smell of chamomile and poppy flowers and the last document regarding international treaties.
By the time you wake up from your ill-timed nap, it was midnight and it had been decided that you were too unwell to properly receive the fairest queen, and thus Vil would be sent back, to come back another time. Cater explains with a tight smile while Riddle nods along. Behind them, Trey pours another cup of warm milk and offers it to you with a sympathetic smile. You take it, despite the guilt threatening to swallow you alive.
The days following are a haze of routines that you thought you once knew but couldn’t process. Nothing had changed, right? It seemed like you couldn’t recall what Trey made for you for yesterday’s tea, nor whenever Cater asked you for an opinion on his outfit. Before, you remembered the guards’ shifts to the letter, and yet, you completely forgot when Ace took over to guard you. Riddle smiles at you like usual, helping you with paperwork as usual, and yet…why couldn’t you remember what you had signed yourself?
Some nights you wake up to Trey or Cater, running their hands over you, despite the fact that they weren’t there before when you went to bed. Sometimes, it would be Ace and Deuce, bickering in hushed whispers before they shut up seeing you awake. And every time morning came and soreness set in your body, Riddle would greet your groggy face warmly, wiping away sweat and a strange stickiness that clung to your skin.
The thought of marriage is erased from your mind, and slowly, but surely, you can’t remember why you thought of breaking apart the men who treated you so fondly.
Perhaps you should have heeded the tales of those who ended up being puppet kings.

We are told at the very start of the manga that "if you want to know a person, you need to find out what makes them angry"
Tumblr media
So I want to talk about Gon, and what makes him angry.
Gon is hard to anger, especially for a kid: He wasn't angry at his dad for abandoning him and never visiting, he wasn't angry at Mito for lying that his parents died, he wasn't angry when Leorio made everyone lose 50 hours at the trick tower despite revealing later in Hanzo's fight that his hope to meet his 'amazing hunter dad' would vanish if couldn't finish the exam on his first try like Ging did (there is no "better luck in the next exam" for Gon), he never gets jealous when Killua shows more strength or knowledge than him even though they are the same age and he used to be very powerful on his little island, and so on.
But is not hard for Gon to get angry for the ones he loves and admires: Be it angry for their safety or about people disrespecting their wishes.
Tumblr media
His anger is stronger when his friend's lives are at risk, their safety triumphs over his wish to respect what they want.
Tumblr media
But he doesn't care about his own life.
Tumblr media
He is never angry when people hurt him. As Hanzo had put it, even injuries as severe as broken bones don't matter to Gon.
Tumblr media
But Gon was visibly frustrated in Hanzo's fight.
He wants to win. And he wants to be the one to win not for Hanzo to forfeit. He wants proof that he is strong and capable and worthy of being in the last phase, aware he was only here because Hisoka let him pass.
Tumblr media
The only person Gon feels any anger towards at the end of the exam is himself for being a hunter but not feeling like he is worth it of the title.
Tumblr media
Gon is always the most angry at himself.
When Kite kills a foxbear, punching Gon for trespassing in their territory, Gon isn't angry at him or the fox bear that attacked him, he puts the full blame on himself and tries to make up for it by raising Kon.
When Killua goes 'back home' he gets angry at Illumi for making Killua do things he doesn't want, but he also blames himself for not being there for Killua when his fight with Illumi happened.
Similarly, his instinct when he learned, without a doubt, that Kite is beyond saving, was to blame himself.
Tumblr media
He isn't thinking about Pitou, isn't even seeing them, blinded by Kite and his own guilt.
This quest for 'revenge' was never about Pitou, it was always about healing Kite. And since Pitou can't heal the dead, Gon blames himself, he is angry at himself.
Pitou is the one that killed him. Killua was the one that was terrified by Pitou's aura and knocked Gon unconscious to run. Kite was the one that told them to run. Gon is far from the "reason kite died" but he loves and respect Kite and Killua, so he obviously doesn't see anything wrong, he never once blames Killua for what happened.
In fact... He had thanked him
Tumblr media
And Gon is genuinely grateful here.
It breaks my heart how much he loves and trusts his friends, eager to share all his good times and victories with them. Wanting them by his side always, no matter how personal his journey is.
Tumblr media
But when something bad happens he wants to 'make it better' alone. Is never "we will fix this" is always "I will", because he doesn't want to trouble them, be it by his own emotions, or outside dangers.
Gon never blames his friends, so he is the one responsible when bad things happen, the only one that needs to fix any problem. And if death is a risk, he will immediately assign the lethal job to himself, and himself only.
Tumblr media
Gon isolates himself when things get hard but he still doesn't want to be alone. He craves company and support more than ever when he is hurt.
Tumblr media
But he doesn't like to feel weak or helpless, so asking for help or opening up is extremely hard. He mostly just gets angry at himself for feeling how he feels and refuse to make it someone else's problem.
He didn't cry after stealing Hisoka's badge but he was feeling helpless and unworthy so he sucked it up and went to do better, it was only after Kurapika asked directly if he was okay that he lowered his walls and found himself crying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is just a kid, he can't process his self hate, frustration, or guilt well, and his way to feel better is to help others, be useful and powerful. But sometimes that's not enough, or he simply can't help.
So he constantly finds himself in situations where he gets injured, physical pain is something that he is more used to, that it's easier to process: He let a foxbear cub claws his shoulders after his actions make Kite kill the cub's mother, he let 'puppet kite' hit him even when he learned its robotic attack pattern, he feels weak and frustrated because 'The Bomber' wasn't taking him seriously and he hates feeling weak, so he delayed Killua's plan and got his hands destroyed to prove to himself that he can do it.
But helping others is still the clear priority over hurting himself: The best example to show this is when he visits the Zoldycks. He never took his anger about the Zoldyck family's isolation on Canary when he visited Killua, letting her knock him down again and again in silence for a while before expressing his frustrations with how unfair it is that he need to go through trials to visit a friend.
And when Killua's mom visited, he prioritized canary over his goal.
Tumblr media
Gon is just... kind. Is far easier for him to care about strangers than it is for him to be angry.
Tumblr media
Gon is smart, but he is not the best at figuring out people when they don't tell him how they feel, especially when Gon is annoyed or unsatisfied.
Tumblr media
So I am not surprised he assumed cool-headed killua, who hides all his pain and is so reliable and mature, "always cleaning up Gon's mess", wasn't in pain in the chimera ant arc. It’s like having someone say “be calm” when you’re angry, stating cold facts that only make you feel more incompetent in your emotional state.
It hurt because it feels like Killua, whose opinion Gon values so much, doesn't care about Kite, his super important mentor figure. And since Pitou’s behavior makes it so he can’t use them as an outlet for his emotions, this hint of anger and betrayal at Killua makes him lash out without thinking about his friend.
Tumblr media
But even in his blinding guilt and hatred, Killua is important enough to still be able to calm him down, and reminds him of his goal.
Gon doesn't understand Killua is hurt (since killua doesn't tell him) but at least... He is not alone.
Tumblr media
"I can't wait" --> He genuinely feels like Killua is as calm as he pretends to be, only he is the 'helpless and in pain' one in Gon's mind and so Killua could easily wait, but he personally can't. He is alone in his pain.
"how long must we wait?" --> Killua is here. Gon never feels truly alone with Killua by his side, he at least has the comfort of an anchor in these trying times.
Killua, who feels unwanted, hurt, and useless, also misunderstands Gon and leaves when Gon needed company the most. Is none of their faults, but it does make Gon's already incredibly bad state even worst.
There is no one but himself to calm him down when he hit his breaking point, and Gon isn't kind to himself.
Tumblr media
His 'fight' with Pitou wasn't revenge. It was a failed attempt to "get kite back" to "fix him" which failed, and he couldn't deal with the resulting grief, so he turned it all into a suicide attempt.
To me, Gon gets angry when he feels inadequate or that a loved one deserves better, he has self-centered tunnel vision when he gets angry, so he doesn't realize his anger-fueled actions might trouble others, but when he does he will make an effort to set aside his own goals for others.
Tumblr media
He is a good kid, a genuinely good kid with no self-love that is surrounded by adults that usually view him as a monster or a "admirable powerhouse" first and a child second, and it takes an enormous amount of strain to make him break.
He is a very strong kid, I wanna hug him.

"You're real fucking sweet but i gotta watch out, you'll burst my bubble, like strawberry POP!"
Tumblr media
For @rinverse ' 1 year Atsv annivesary event and illustrated by @a-hypnos-v,my Spidersona:Nora Morales aka Earth 1610's Spiderwoman, also know as Gamespider!
Nora is the eldest Morales sibling at 36/37 with Jefferson and Rio being aged up to their 60s but he's not their bio kid because i'm black biracial instead of monoracial so he's adopted! His parents took him in as a 16 year old street kid who'd been kicked out for being trans, specifically transmasc genderfluid and bigender. The Morales fam are super supportive of him and always have been!!
He's super bubbly, goofy, silly, sweet and kind but very insecure due to his trauma which also included getting bullied at school with zero friends and never went to college because his neurodivergence made school at that level too hard for him(audhd, anxiety and mdd)and Miles having all the same ones didn't help at all.But he never takes it out on him and is super proud of him for how smart he is and they're best friends on top of being adoptive siblings!!!Nora's also really snarky and lowkey cheeky and a huge gamer and geek and actually pretty responsible with good self-care habits contrary to the stereotype because he's a black fem instead of a white dudebro who dosen't read Spiderman comics. His poor social skills made it hard for him to connect with people but he does have a few casual friends in Itsv!No real strong connection though,it's just people he knows well enough.I think it goes without saying but he has hidden anger issues and spiteful tendencies too!
His version of the movies is called 'Spiderman/Spiderwoman:Spiderverse' but would be dubbed Spidersiblings:Spiderverse by fans if he were canon! It's both his and Miles' story as the titulary Spiderman and Spiderwoman so they're co-protagonists and Across has him as the fem mc instead of Gwen
Into him worked at the diner Peter B and Miles talked at and that's why Miles took him to it and Jefferson is a househusband because fuck copganda
Nora actually got bit at work at the same time Miles did while with Ripeter and Nora's intro blends into his as their theme songs play back to back/mixed into eachother:Miles' is 'Sunflower' and Nora's is 'Strawberry Pop',a rap song about black womanhood and Nora's type specifically as it was written for him like Sunflower was for Miles and both have a few lyrics referencing eachother as the heart and soul of Spiderverse. They're open with eachother about almost everything and Nora partially helped raise Miles so he always looked up to him but stopped vocalizing it as he got older so Nora misenterpreted it as him not thinking he was cool anymore and it hurt but he didn't vocalize that either because he found it fair
Nora was close to Uncle Aaron too and had suspiciouns he was hiding something and there's a moment where he jokes that he's secretly a supervillain but pretends not to be to protect the family with a goofy expression and hand gestures and we don't see Aaron's expression on purpose for dramatics and angst sake
His Spider motif is the purple jumping spider so his power is super strong legs including beyond average strength in them and echanced jumping and the rest of his body is already thick beforehand due to age(and so he dosen't look ridicilous LMAO)
Peter B is his main love interest! They bickered a lot in Itsv due to the whole 'extrovert optismist vs introvert pessimist' thing but had relathionship development as they got to know eachother and worked together and ended up crushing on eachother.Nora was the first older trans person Gwen met so she instantly latched onto him because they clocked eachother and he was happy to be friends with her and mutual mentors for lack of a better term(i.e Gwen taught Nora about being Spiderwoman and Nora was a positive adult figure in Gwen's life who took care of and looked out for her).He gets along with Peni,Noir and Spiderham too and Peni is shoujo based instead of moefication bullshit so naturally her and Nora's pastel femme ass hit it off
What's Up Danger? is a Morales Siblings shared theme song and Nora gives Miles ressurances as much as their parents and Peter B do and Peter B himself helps Nora out in feeling like Spiderwoman even before he chills out. There's a scene where Nora devastates that Miles will never look up to him like he used to but will make a great Spiderman and Miles is shocked speechless before he say he just didn't think he needed to say it anymore and got made fun of for admiring his big sister so much by his bullies because he talked about him at school a few times and tells him he never stopped being his hero and that he's 'the most awesome Spidersister in any universe' and that's what gives Nora the confidence to really be Spiderwoman as they rush off to the collider after hugging tightly and grinning at eachother.Nora is Spiderwoman(male)and Miles is Spiderman(female)
Nora showed bits of interest in punk culture in Into and goes full pastel punk/afropunk between it and Across and that's where his suit upgrade comes in and Itsv!Nora dressed like an afrolatina grandma tbh while Atsv!Nora dresses like a baddie and a huge faggot(complimentary).Spiderwoman is frequently seen at riots and charity events and Spiderman accoumpanies him when he's not too busy with school shit. Also Spiderwoman dosen't follow the no kill rule just for the exception of abusers and fascists
Nora becomes even more parental acting post Uncle Aaron's death for obvious reasons and there's direct talk of him in Across because of how important he was to the Spidersiblings. As Spider(wo)man,Nora naturally has something going on with all adult MJ's(meaning yes 1610 MJ and 616 MJ but not Em Jay because she's Gwen's age)and there's a joke of this when they sneak into the Kingpin party with the Mjnora interaction that implies bisexual MJ who loves all Spidermans regardless of gender
Atsv has a rework of it's intro sequence with a speech by the og Spiderfam(Miles,Nora,Gwen and Peter B)and same for the actual art/animation in it and Nora is the first amongst them to discover Spider Society, followed by him and Peter B reuiniting in a corny romantic scene that's interrupted by Miguel and Jessica and it cuts back and forth to them and Gwen as contrast and Gwen and Nora have an equally tender reunion as she frantically tells him what happened to her in a meltdown and he comforts her as they make it to Spider Society.Nora excitedly says he can't wait to tell Miles about it until Miguel says he can't just yet and refuses to tell him why so Nora just gives up and follows along because he's so fucking annoying about it.The movie is extended to almost 3 hours and there's a lot of Nora and Miles bonding in Earth 1610 and Peternora replaces Ghostflower as the love story of the movie and Gwen and Miles are platonic to not feel like it's only a thing because they're the other two main Spiderpeople
Hobie and Nora did the Spiderman pointing meme when they first met because they're both punk Spiderpeople and acted like they'd known eachother for years after only a few days of friendship and Nora basically adopted Hobie as his little brother and pseudo-son.They're platonic t4t black love realness and Margo gets in on it too since him and Nora have a shared special interests in video games and other matching tastes and Nora provides a shoulder to cry on when Mr and Mrs Kess are being extra toxic. He also helped Peni post Canon Event to cope and could relate from his own broken childhood that turned him into an edgecase too at the time and Pavitr and him are beyond unserious together and Gwen lives with Hobie fulltime on his boat and Nora visits them often enough to parent them it's pretty much his second house
This earns Nora the nickname 'Spider Manager' since they call themselves the Spiderband and he's their mentor/caretaker(Also George Stacy is Nora's canon event cop /hj.MURK THAT NIGGA!!!!!!)
Punkflower happens and their dynamic is the same because they're already so romantically-coded but there's more scenes and expansion due to longer run time.Ghostbyte also is together but there's tension going on not due to antagonizing eachother but due to Gwen's fated death and Margo's self-worth issues in regards to romance because of the 'disposable black love interest' trope.I wouldn't say they're on the same level because misogynoir is a very real thing but i think it's a good angle to work with in-universe and i'm a black woman myself so i'd say it's okay for me to since it's my territory
Jessnora is REALLLLLLL THEY'RE SO FUCKING GAY.Jessica still has a husband and is pregnant but they're polyamorous so it's okay with him them being a thing and Jessnora is that one trope where they're both chaotic but one's classy and elegant and smooth about it and the other's just a fucking menace with NO fanciness to them.Noraguel is also real in an enemies to lovers and rather angsty way as Nora actually changes a lot of Miguel's views by working with him and making him spend quality time so he unwinds but he's still scared to loose everything all over again and Spiderman and Spiderwoman in the same dimension makes them The Original Anomalies and it's a long while before he connects the dots and is too blinded by his trauma to see reason. He knows he loves Nora too but Nora has no clue on his feelings or Miguel's and it's torture because he can't figure out why he's so important to him but nonetheless dosen't hesitate to beat his ass and come for his entire life
42 Nora aka Nora J(Junia)is Venom's host who ran away from home post Jefferson's death because it broke him and is a vigilante like Miles G but much darker in his plots and sourer and meaner. There's a horror movie based reveal in the finale where Miles thinks he's safe because his Nora is with him but he turns and reveals himself as Venom-faced but has no actual intentions of hurting him contrary to his terror and his actual Nora gets Miles G and there's a dual frame reveal where the 42 Morales Siblings say the same thing:'I'm Miles/Nora Morales'
42 Nora/Nora J is also known as 'Venora',Nora has the trans pin on his Atsv costume to match Gwen's room flag, all Spiderpeople have special move the others can't do and Nora's being able to hack with his webs thanks to being kinda a criminal to get by when he was a homeless kid giving him experience beforehand and Beyond has Nora helping Miles G get that redemption-healing arc so at some point he asks him why he's so insistant on caring about him so Nora responds 'I'm gonna save you even if it kills me.You're my sunflower too'

ATSUMU AS A DAD HEADCANONS
pairing : miya atsumu x gn!reader
— atsumu is not generally a strict parent, except on certain occasions when he knows he needs to be one. he does a commendable job keeping a balance between leniency and strictness when it comes to parenting. most of the times he has a gentle approach towards the naughtiness sought by his kids, but there are times when he ends up losing his cool, and ends up getting angrier than what is required to discipline his kids.
— he’s quick to apologise as well. he doesn’t want his kids to resent him, so when he does raise his voice beyond a limit and ends up hurting them, he also explains himself and apologises eventually. he wants his kids to be disciplined and grow up well, but he doesn’t want them to grow up in a strict household that might feel suffocating to them. he sees nothing wrong with apologising to his kids, and his s/o sure does appreciate this quality in him.
— he says yes to his kids’ demands more often than not. however, there are said times when he does respond with a no. but the denial is for a good enough reason. since he is calm and composed, and tends to offer his kids good enough reasons, they tend to understand as well. instances when tantrums are thrown are scant rather than repetitive.
— atsumu is a professional volleyball player, so it’s obvious he doesn’t get to spend a lot of time with his kids. most days he is busy practising with the jackals, and on other days there are games he needs to be the back bone of. but when he does get free time, despite his obvious exhaustion, he spends it with his kids. it’s a rare occurrence on weekdays, but on weekends, he dedicates his time to them instead of resting, and sometimes even when he comes home in the evening and they don’t have schoolwork to do.
— on weekends, he takes his kids to the local park or the mall. now, atsumu is great when it comes to picking out things for shopping, so often, his s/o is not a part of the weekend venture. a significant amount of money gets spent on clothes and toys, but he knows where he must draw the line. nonetheless, atsumu is carefree when it comes to spending. but he also teaches his kids the importance of saving money while still buying them more than what is required.
— at the park he plays games with them and encourages them to make friends with other kids. if they find it hard to do themselves, he helps them out by initiating conversations with other parents, and by accompanying his kids when they want to talk to other kids. a lot of times he invites his teammates and their kids to the park too.
— naturally, being a professional athlete irks him to encourage his kids to play sports. if his kids do tell him they would like to play a sport other than volleyball, atsumu gets a little disheartened, but they most probably won’t choose a sport other than volleyball after having watched their father play it for years. even if they do, and even if he isn’t too amused by the idea, he comes around like he should, and supports their decision. he understands that their interest doesn’t have to resonate with his own. he boosts them to expand their skill set in whatever sport they have chosen. he even goes as far as learning a bit about the sport himself so that he can practice with them sometimes.
— if he has a working s/o, he knows his family won’t be able to make it to most of his games. he would love their support, and he would be more than delighted to watch them cheer for him from the bleachers, but he knows his s/o has work to tend to and his kids have schoolwork. he buys them jerseys and tickets for games they can possibly attend, but if they don’t make, he doesn’t let it distract himself and still gives his best. when they do attend, he keeps waving at them from the court, and after the game, prioritises running to them.
— when he is away for games, he ends up missing most of the video calls and texts from his family. this is not to say he is a bad father or a bad s/o, he is just busy and exhausted. but he does call them back the moment he gets some space and puts all his attention into the conversation. he apologises for missing their attempts at communication. he doesn’t want his family to feel ignored, and they understand his profession too, so in the end, everything somehow works out.
— atsumu comes home with plenty gifts for his family, and this includes osamu’s family too. he makes sure no one opens their gift alone, and makes an effort to gather all the members in the same room, so that everyone can open their gifts together. surprisingly enough, the gifts are well thought of, and his kids find them to their liking. he rarely has to ask for help from his teammates or his s/o. he does a great job buying gifts himself.
— atsumu is undoubtedly a very proud father. he cannot shut up about his kids’ accomplishments to his current and former teammates. his kid gets a certificate of appreciation? atsumu is here to sing a ballad about how great of an accomplishment it is. his kid wins a medal? hear him prattle about it for weeks to come. his kid got a good grade? he’ll bring along the report card to brandish it around and most likely end up losing it. his friends do find it annoying to hear him rev so much, but they encourage him and talk about the accomplishments of their own kids.
— atsumu is petty, always has been. this pettiness translates into him making sure his kids keep up a good competition with osamu’s kids. grades get compared. extra curricular achievements get compared. personalities get compared. it’s not only atsumu who is keen about the competition but also osamu. but at the end of the day, it’s just for fun and they both just want their kids to get along and bond well.
— if no one else does (and no one generally does), he is the one who makes an effort to arrange play dates with his teammates’ kids, and if no one volunteers to look after the kids, he takes the responsibility to look after them. he stocks up on snacks and food with the help of osamu for the play date, sometimes even buys matching onesies for all the kids. he stockpiles a bunch of kids movie recommendations. play dates with atsumu as a host can never go wrong, except the fact that the house ends up in shambles by the time the event ends, and his s/o and him get stuck cleaning it up.
— when it comes to materialistic things like electronic gadgets, his kids won’t be getting any until they’re well into their teens. he thinks there’s no need for a bunch of kids to own smartphones and high tech gadgets. his kids often get envious of other kids their age, but atsumu gives them good reasons as to why he’s restricting them from having those, and they tend to understand after throwing a miniature tantrum or two, because they still get to use atsumu and his s/o’s phone from time to time.
— when it’s off season, family holidays get planned. they span only a week or so, but he makes sure to include all the exquisite destinations when he is composing the itinerary. on vacation, atsumu clicks too many photographs, to the extent that the camera roll gets exhausted and runs out of memory to hold more pictures. these pictures later end up getting printed and pasted in family albums.
— he is great at using social media and he knows his way around the internet. so it’s no surprise he has accounts on various platforms. his feed, twitter and instagram alike, is full of pictures of his family, plus the promotional stuff for his games, but mostly just pictures and videos of his kids goofing around with him.
— now, atsumu wasn’t academically fabulous when he was a student, so there is only so much he can do to help his kids with their assignments and homework. but he does fill in the shoes of the helper when his s/o can’t. he tries his best to find solutions to their questions and when he cannot, he knows he needs to call up kita or aran for help. the call is relayed and questions are sorted. on some days, kuroo tetsurou from sports promotion division gets called too.
— he doesn’t really have the time to, but atsumu keeps a check on his kids’ academic endeavours, and on weekends, he tutors them in whatever segment he can. most of the times, they prefer not to be tutored by him because he stumbles around the study material himself. they prefer the other parent taking the lead, but atsumu wants to be involved in their lives, and he makes this one of the way he can be.
— when one of his kids ends up liking someone romantically, he feels his heart being weighed down by the years. for the most part, it’s because it’s an alarm, a kind of festering realisation that his kids are growing up, and he has known this for a long long time, they were eventually going to grow older and bolder, but it still feels heavy in person. he encourages their feelings, and asks his kids to invite them over sometime. when they do bring their s/o home, atsumu is warm and welcoming as ever, and also a little shrouded by doubt, but that’s obvious as he is a vigilant parent, and the possible bearer of the weight of any unfavourable outcome. despite his concern, he does try to make his kids’ s/o feel involved and loved.
— atsumu is notorious for losing his kids in public places, and this happens more often than one would think. he has lost his kids multiple times while he’s out shopping with them, but has eventually ended up finding them one way or another. most of these incidents are kept under the cover and his s/o is clueless about their occurrence. but the kids ended up telling them more than once and atsumu has never since heard the end of it. his s/o insists that he should be more vigilant as a parent, but he ends up losing kids in public places nonetheless, and gets scolded by his s/o time and again.
— when the nanny isn’t around, the kids get taken to volleyball practice. turns out, hinata and bokuto are in a tough competition to be their favourite uncle. the kids love spending time with hinata and bokuto. they find sakusa a little too stoic for their taste and they’ve said it to his face more than once, at which he has flinched in nonchalance. atsumu never stops teasing sakusa about this. other msby members and faculty members are also fond of his kids.
— atsumu doesn’t care much for grades. as long as his kids are doing good enough, he’s content. he doesn’t expect them to exceed his expectations or to be the top of their class. if they end up getting a bad grade for whatever reason, he doesn’t raise his voice at them. he knows being loud about it will only discourage them and induce rebellious tendencies. so he goes about it rather calmly and talks to them about it.
— he isn’t a good cook, but occasionally he does need to feed his kids when his s/o isn’t around. he tries following a recipe and cook something for them, but his efforts go in vain when his kids don’t find it appetising enough. he just ends up ordering onigiri from osamu’s shop most of the times, or something else from some other restaurant.
— atsumu expects his kids to help around the house, and he assigns them chores to do. the kids are not excited about it but they don’t have much of an option because this is one of the instances when atsumu acts serious. he doesn’t want them to laze around, and wants them to learn things around the house as they grow up. these chores aren’t much but just small things that suit them.
the end.
a/n : my bros, have this. idk how to explain, but i never got a chance to post it here, probably because i most likely forgot about it until recently, when i felt like going back and checking on my ao3 account.

Note
i feel like you’re the right audience for this but i’m rewatching gilmore girls and buck and eddie are so luke and lorelai coded sometimes. christopher is rory and shannon is christopher (sorry shannon i love you). ana is max medina.
BABE YOU HAVE DEFINITELY REACHED THE RIGHT AUDIENCE ISTG I THINK I MADE LIKE 167283 POSTS ABOUT THIS
Like eventhough Chris is Rory in this situation I feel like buck is more loralie and Eddie is way more luke, so like plot wise it’s the other way but dynamic and character wise DEFINITELY Luke=Eddie and loralie= buck
Like there is something about the yapper/ fond of the yapper, the one who believes in fate and the universe/ the one who thinks it’s all bs, sunshine/ grumpy, needs attention to survive/doesn’t like attention dynamic that is just RIGHT
Plus like loralie- fucked up and complicated relationship with her parents where she never felt seen by them, troublemaker when she was younger, has a tendency to make things about her/ take things personally, kinda needy and like loves attention, yapper, adhd coded in my opinion, ran away from home at a young age to then find herself in another place and build this sort of found family dynamic, emotional attachment to a jeep, has a tendency to sometimes get control freak, micromanaging mode
All of which are very buck things
And Eddie is so luke for obvious reasons like the sort of need to kinda drag things out of him a little more, endlessly fond and supportive, would rather die than talk about his feelings, like just that sturdy energy idk
And rip Shannon but I have mixed feelings about you and you do fit the Christopher role: like left their kids with no contact✅technically has like a reason of being young scared etc but still went NO CONTACT WITH THEIR CHILD✅ their love interest romanticises their relationship eventhough in reality it’s not a good relationship ✅
Also omg Rory as Chris just works so well cos it’s like that smart beyond their years and supportive energy (cough cough both had a player era too)
I see your Ana as max and I raise you Tommy as Rachel, nothing overtly wrong but they’re just not the right person (if he has the Rachel send off I’d die of joy)
TAYLOR IS JASON (digger) LIKE THE SAME ENERGY OF BEING A BIT COLD AND CLOSED OFF AND SHIT AND THEN BETRAYING THEIR TRUST BY HURTING THEIR FAMILY - actually depending on how Tommy goes his personality also fits Jason too like the kinda closed off energy works
Marisol is Nicole cos Nicole pisses me off 🙄 (like we haven’t seen Marisol enough for me to hate her but you know what edy made me hate her because seeing her face and hearing her voice actually physically makes me vomit) but like lbr personality of a wet towel, underdeveloped, moved very quickly then moved back then moved quick again then imploded
Omg tho if we get any form of luke and loralie build to buddie I would love it like I made a post before about the “I feel like I’m never gonna have it- the whole package” “you will” “you don’t know that, how do you know that” “ I just do” conversation but also the luke and loralie first kiss would be so scrumptious for buddie
I’m gonna shut up now cos I feel like I yapped too much but yes I love you sm because you absolutely clocked me right with this ask

Matt Reacting to Your Parents Being Mean to You (Matt Murdock x gn!Reader) Headcanons
MASTERLIST // TAG LIST REQUEST FORM
A/N: This is the second part of a requested headcanon by nonnie! I'll link Frank's to this one. I hope you enjoy!
My request are open, but please be patient! I have gotten an overwhelming amount of requests recently, so I'm working through them as fast as I can without burning myself out. I'm also in the middle of planning a long, full length Frank x Vigilante!Reader fic!
Frank Castle's Headcanon
Tumblr media
Summary: Matt comforts you after he overhears your parents being cruel to you.
(Warnings: sexist comments from your parents, ableism towards matt, soft!matt, mentions of matt letting the devil out (so like, mentions of violence i guess?), matt being an absolute doll, reader is matt's world, you know the drill)
You have Matt, and subsequently the Devil, wrapped around your little finger.
Any time he’s ever stumbled upon you crying, he’s always demanded to know who hurt you so he could do his absolute worst to them.
Matt was always comforting and gentle, wrapping you in his arms and kissing your hair.
Once night overtook the city, though, the Devil would come untethered, unleashing his rage on whoever thought they could get away with hurting you.
This was difficult, however, when your parents were the ones bringing tears to your pretty face.
Matt would never let the Devil fulfill his revenge fantasy, though some nights he wishes he could, like tonight.
He stands in the doorway of the apartment you share, cane clenched between white knuckles.
He could hear you sobbing in the bedroom – overheard it from three blocks away and rushed home, vowing to make whoever caused you this pain pay with their blood.
He stops short when he overhears your parents on the phone.
Your parents had always been old-fashioned, so when you moved in with Matt before marriage, you knew they would see it as catastrophic.
“I can’t believe you would do this. This goes against everything we raised you to be. Where is your obedience? Your decorum? Do you have no respect for yourself? Are you nothing more than a common whore?”
Matt feels the metal of his cane bending beyond its capabilities, finally snapping between his hands. Shards of metal embed themselves in his hands, but his focus is elsewhere. He could feel the Devil clawing its way through his chest, begging to be released.
“Dad, please. Matt’s a good man. He helps people every day. He’s a-”
“I can’t see how a blind man could be capable of helping anyone, let alone you.”
“Stop. You can insult me all you want, but don’t insult him. He’s a good man.”
Your phone hitting the wall and shattering is what breaks Matt out of his stupor.
He hastens to the bedroom, knocking softly on the door before opening it.
Your hunched, sobbing form sitting on the edge of the bed knocks the wind out of him. His heart breaks as the salt from your tears hits his tongue.
“Please tell me you didn’t hear that.”
“Petal...are you okay? I’m so sorry. You deserve so much better than that.”
Matt kneels in front of you, removing his glasses.
You fall into his arms. To his credit, he seems to be expecting this. His breathing doesn’t even change when your body collides with his.
Matt runs his hands up and down your back in a soothing motion, letting you cry into his chest for as long as you need to.
“They’re so mean. They wouldn’t last one day in your shoes, yet they constantly belittle you for a disability that you can’t help. They act like it’s a weakness, and like you’re not worthy of love because of it.”
“If I got upset every time someone tried to make my blindness a weakness, I’d be eternally angry. It doesn’t bother me, I promise. What bothers me is the way they talk to you. You deserve the world, petal. I’m so sorry they can’t see that.”
Matt carries you to your bed, crawling into the sheets next to you.
He leaves gentle, caressing kisses all over your face, making you giggle.
“Ah, there it is.”
Matt’s content sigh has your heart aching with love for him. He accepts you, shitty parents and all, and you spend the night enveloped in his arms, cherishing his warmth and love.
End Note: I hope you liked it! I don't think y'all understand just how much I love Matt Murdock. I would do ANYTHING for this man. Thank you for requesting, nonnie!

awww poor Yoichi :(
Hmm, do you have any immortal headcanons?
I felt so sorry for him the whole time I was writing that AU. But yes, I do have some immortal OFA users headcanons.
Note: This time, an immortality quirk got mixed in with stockpile, so the users all had to fake their deaths. The headcanons go from there.
Yoichi had fun writing the books he always wanted to write, but under a pseudonym of course. His brother hates his books of course and vows to hunt down the author. (Yoichi does change pseudonyms and stuff every few years)
Also, once every few years, Yoichi will get HOOKED on some trend. It lasts about twice as long as it takes for the trend to die down.
Second married Yoichi and while he wanted to just steal what they needed; Yoichi convinced him to get money in a more ethical way. So, he became a mechanic. The only bad thing is they have to move every few years as they look the same age they were when they passed on OFA. Like the vampires in Twilight.
I headcanon Third as aro/ace, so this is a duoholders universe.
Also, Third becomes a therapist. He figured he would be qualified after so many years being the therapist friend. And he is good at it, but he also runs into the Twilight issue. Even so, the 3 are never far apart from each other. Third does have his own place, but he's always there if the other two need anything and vice versa.
(I have a weird version of trioholders where, while the first two holders are romantically involved, their friendship with Third runs so deep, that if he died, they would be destroyed. Same with Yoichi and Second. They all need and understand each other in a way so deeply, it goes beyond any normal intimacy. Like, platonic soulmates I guess is the best word for that.)
Hikage lives in the woods. After 18 years of being chased around, he decided to fake his death and give OFA to Banjo. So, now he lives with the forest creatures in peace. Third still drags him out for the occasional family dinner though.
Banjo uses his extra immortal time to become talented at, not just normal hobbies, but really weird stuff like peeling a banana with his feet like a monkey. In addition to bothering Hikage, he decided to try his hand at a childhood dream and become a cowboy. That didn't work out, so he travels the world instead.
My headcanon for En is that he had 5 siblings, so immortality would give him a lot of grieving to do. However, I also headcanon him as a lover of reptiles and technology, so he used his immortal time to get acquainted with all the new tech coming out each year and finally get a pet chameleon. He also got a degree in Graphic Art. However, he chooses to make his money by doing commissions.
Nana did give away her son after her husband died, but only until she faked her death. Then she got him back, so Kotaro doesn't end up being as bad, but there's definitely still some tension between them as she didn't tell him about her plan. She hides away, with Gran Torino helping her try to raise Kotaro as normally as possible. Meaning his last name does end up changed because Torino adopts him, but he co-parents with Nana. It's complicated. At least Hana and Tenko are happy children with grandparents who spoil them and a better dad. Nobody wants to be on the bad side of both Nana and Gran Torino.
Toshinori did not know about the immortality thing. Nana forgot to tell him, and he just thought his master had really good genes. So, he has the same knowledge in canon. In fact, his life is pretty much like canon, as they figured it was best that he goes to America for a bit to keep AFO away from Nana's hiding place. He also gets into the same fight with AFO, but sustains the same damage. You see, the immortality quirk doesn't keep them from getting hurt, it just keeps them from dying.
Oh yeah, remember the family dinners Hikage gets dragged to? Those are between every OFA user. Toshinori just thinks they're historians who love to joke around. He has to believe it at this point. At least they only happen once a year, unless there's an emergency, like a new user or a faked death. Or, AFO dying (is he dead?)
Then Toshinori brings Izuku to OFA family dinner. Cue the awing over the new user (who looks oddly familiar). There was some worry over how Izuku would adjust to the quirk, but they all assumed All Might had it figured out. That man was taught by someone who beat the crap out of him daily. All Might did not have it figured out.
(After the AFO fight, the other users convinced All Might to get a hobby or something, so he decided to try and get the credentials to become a teacher, because he always loved children. The credits to become a kindergarten teacher that is, so the jump to high school is still going to take some adjustment. Not to mention training a middle school boy to handle a quirk you gave them. I don't think there's a book on that.)
After the entrance exams, out of worry for their new user, all the vestiges move to the Musutafu area around UA to help with Izuku's training. The users get along great with Inko (who was told about OFA.) And Yoichi's brother and Inko's husband sure have a lot of similarities. What a coincidence...
From here they get upto all sorts of school-themed hijinks, but I'll let you imagine them. (The eventual meeting with Aizawa is always a fun one to imagine)
Uh... this did not turn out how I thought it would. It was supposed to be random headcanons and not a story outline. I did keep some stuff vague on purpose. Anyway, I hope you liked it :)

hi good morning everyone today i am going to talk about henry oak.
henry, through the course of s1, goes through a massive arc of self-discovery. he also takes some of the worst beatings of any of the dads, arguably, with very little time to process some of these hits in comparison. part of that is the oak family tradition of burying negative emotions until they come out by force, but part of it is also henry and his themes of blaming himself viciously for things that are completely out of his control- because he was raised to think that everything that goes wrong in his life is because he wasn't good enough.
"nyx, what do you mean?" lets look at the fucking pyramid. look at me and tell me who of the dads suffered the most from that pyramid. henry. it breaks my heart that henry both blames himself the most and so do the other dads? when it was just another thing out of his control. between sparrow getting stabbed in the fight and lark actually getting buried by said pyramid, henry had the most to lose and maybe that's why he blames himself so hard: those were his kids who snowballed this fight, he takes responsibility for them because before the events of faerun, taking responsibility for the actions of his kids is all he knows how to do when they're misbehaving.
and thus starts this mentality from henry: someone in the party makes a mistake, and henry blames himself just as equally, even if it wasn't something within his sphere of control. again, this makes SENSE given what we know of his childhood- barry spent years hammering it into henry's head that if he couldn't be perfect, everything bad to him was his fault. he could be better, could be greater, could make a difference. every single thing he couldn't do was a flaw on his own end, and like... i feel like barry's parenting of henry tends to be overlooked a lot when discussing henry's character and also how he ends up parenting lark and sparrow. barry was overbearing, so henry is lax. barry was hyper critical and judgemental, so henry established very quickly that he would never be harsh, never be mean, never overstep. and the lack of boundaries he gives his kids is a parenting style i personally heavily disagree with, but given what we know of henry and his examples of fatherhood, it makes sense. it feels hard to fault him too hard when we see the other dads go through this as well- being the opposite of your father to a fault, two different extremes.
what gets me. so bad? about this? is that at every turn, henry is punished for trying to be better. beyond just losing the twins when he would've punished them for the stunts in neverwinter. beyond learning new truths about himself and fighting his father and never having the emotional space to recover from that - yes, i will forever be a little salty about the timing of deck picks, because it takes away most of henry's agency and he doesn't get the opportunity to process any of the fight before getting swept away in the deck and then right into glenn's arc. and even with the deck; glenn would've gone to the trial anyways, which means the only person the deck actually hurt? that affected him in the long run? was henry. and then, with the gloves: it kills me, it KILLS ME!!! that henry's decision to step up on his parenting game, be a little stricter and give his kids hard boundaries, finally start trying to mend the broken edges his own father left him with and be a better father. IS PUNISHED! IN THE LONG RUN! it's natural that a kid with loose rules will get angry when those rules are actually enforced, but oh my god i think i will forever be angry at anthony for using the rogue card to inflict this very, "you wanted to be better? suck it! now your kid hates you!" mentality by making lark specifically angry at henry for trying to be better and then never resolving it.
when i say henry was doomed by the narrative, this is what i mean. he suffers and suffers and every step to become better just ends up hitting him in the face. and still he tries. still he pushes on. and i think this is kind of why i disagree with the more popular post-s1 henry takes: it's pretty easy to get attached to the twins and then try to paint henry as the reason why each twin has their issues. lark is angry? henry has done him wrong. sparrow has no self-esteem? henry neglected him. but both of these concepts involve the idea of henry being overbearing like he was pre-s1, and that actively contradicts the father henry was trying to be during the season and denies him the chance to get better, and i really, really don't like that!
henry angers easily, but he swallows it down until it bubbles over. henry finally is allowing himself to feel negative emotions as they hit him, because despite what the narrative paints, he has learned! that it's unhealthy! he knows he fucked up with the twins by not giving them boundaries in the past, so why would he keep doing that? why do we as a fandom believe that darryl managed to salvage his relationship with grant and ron stepped up to become the emotionally available stepfather we all wanted him to be, but henry has to not learn from his mistakes for the sake of the twins and their characterization?
it really gets to me. from what we've seen briefly and what we know henry is like - and what we know sparrow is like too, he does a lot of things in a very henry manner when it comes to parenting normal - he is not overbearing. he is not neglectful. he is maintaining a boundary. he will not overstep because he loves his twins so desperately but also knows if he pushes too hard they'll hate him. so he keeps himself distant. he gives lark space. space, and the grace to make his own decisions: boy doesn't that sound familiar? (it's the same logic sparrow uses with normal: sparrow learned it from somewhere). and that is why their relationship never mends: because lark wants henry to hate him for his decisions, so he keeps lashing out, intentionally trying to provoke henry into admitting he doesn't love lark anymore: and it fails, because henry is loving and he is forgiving and he will not let himself overstep but he also will always be there for his sons. sons, plural, because sparrow too ends up distant: not because henry is neglecting him, but because sparrow chose lark. sparrow internalized henry's "love your brother first" very hard, and that immediately puts him at odds with his father too: because he can't reach for henry without "betraying" lark, so he pulls himself away. the most he can do is try to assure henry that lark doesn't mean what he's saying when lark is poking at henry's defenses and henry takes it, takes the insults and the jabs and the "why aren't you better"s and accepts them. henry already knows this after all: it all goes back to his childhood. to barry. and that destroys me.
TLDR: i think both the narrative of the show and we the fandom tend to do henry some major disservices outside of his relationship with the other dads, and i say this as a major sparrow apologist! was his parenting perfect? no. but his entire arc is about accepting that you can't be perfect and sometimes things happen outside your control and it's not your fault so all you can do is hold onto the people around you and keep your heart open. and the sooner we accept that, the sooner we can appreciate both henry and the twins more: after all, as i stated, sparrow is going down a very similar path with normal, and i for one am very, very excited for it.

Just finished The World that Stood Against Us (Made Us Mean, to Fight for You) it was fantastic.
Love literally everyone else immediately understanding the danger of Yuuji getting hurt even has Yuuji doesn’t understand beyond that he’s bleeding and was pushed because he’s a child and one of the other people in the world who will never have anything to fear from Gojo is so good.
“Yuuji, because he's a pup and doesn't know the beast who sits in his mother's skin, turns, and upon seeing Gojo-Sensei begins to openly weep.” << Obsessed with this line
Feral Omega Gojo is a gift. Love Megumi sweating bullets along with everyone else even though he’s the safest after the twins. Also someone get Ijichi a raise that man deserves one before his heart gives out from all the stress Gojo causes him.
Megumi getting angry about Todo calling himself Yuuji’s brother is also so good, that’s his little brother how dare you put yourself on his level. Calling him a suck up, Megumi being bitter about it I love it.
Also Yuuji being completely oblivious to the danger everyone else is in >>> only second to feral omega Gojo tbh.
Megumi over exaggerating and stepping in so no one starts that back up is so clever. His pride may never recover but it probably saved someone’s life considering how easily Gojo could be set off again if he hadn’t stepped in. They should all thank him. Not me though I was hoping Gojo was gonna spill blood. But the rest of them should.
Nobara hiding behind Maki is so sweet, Maki is her favorite and she’s not subtle about it nor should she be. Also please let Yuuji get his steak!
Love the Second years, Megumi, Gojo, and the twins hanging out. Gojo shielding the twins with Infinity after also goes hard. Of course he is one of his babies got hurt, he’s being overprotective but also it’s Gojo and that should be expected. Also there’s no way Megumi didn’t also have Infinity on him right? Your his pup too dude no way he’s not keeping Infinity on all three of you. Gojo teasing Megumi is also so good.
Loved this very much but I am left with one question: Who pushed Yuuji?
Ah!!!! Thank you so much!
Exactly! Yuuji is just a little kid, so any understanding of the world is gonna be centered around "I'm hurting and I want it to stop". He has no understanding that everyone else would have a reason to fear Gojo. His mother has never been a threat to him, so it isn't even a option
Im not even gonna lie, it was my favorite line to write. I love it when parents go from 0 to 100.
Im terms of Gojo's priorities it's basically categorized at the moment as "My pups and students" and then "everyone else". Tsk-tsk, Megumi should know better than to be even worried about his own safety. The twins and him are the ones who have zero chance of getting a scratch.
Megumi is such a bitter bitch (this isn't a drag against his character, I love that about him) and is still bitter about getting his ass kicked. And calling Todo a suck up was another favorite of mine to write. Megumi, while he tries to keep his distance, definitely gets a lot more privileges than he even realizes when it comes to Gojo
Even better when they go hand in hand. I needed more feral omegas who'll rip oit throats for their babies, and I suppose be the change you wanna see, lol
Maki is basically the coolest person in the universe to Nobara (and yes, Megumi was bitter about losing his little sister's admiration to his upper classmate). I like to think to satisfy both pups Gojo took them to some restaurant that served both
The second years are pretty used to their teacher and the pups, so this is probably a common occurrence. Gojo is very much a overprotective parent, but in his defense, assassination attempts on heirs are common as HELL and he's pretty shaken up from earlier. Usually his presence alone is enough to deter threats. I'm glad that Gojo teasing Megumi was enjoyable, I was a little worried it mightve been ooc and that I pushed it a little too far. It was fun to write though, especially Gojo complaining about what a grump Megumi had become.
I actually hadn't thought about who was the one to push Yuuji, cause I didn't want anyone maimed (though, Mai or Noritoshi would probably be a no, considering their involvement with other clans would immediately be taken as hostile action)

ive had Ollie for ten seconds and they are my child. I love aer. Cinnamon roll of all time. Perpetually too cold. If any side characters in The Ghost Of Us say anything mean to them, I will cry and so will they. (Please enjoy a little intro (w edits) bc once again I couldn't resist yeeting the "Generic" body type and replacing it with "Lady")
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oleander Woods (they/them, occasionally uses ae/aer) | Demigirl | Allo
🧡 Vibes!🧡 dimples, freckles, tea, fuzzy socks, anxiety, thrifted grandpa sweaters, excessive apologies, baby animal enthusiast, timid, excessively helpful, has never raised their voice (probably doesn't know how), bullet journalling, optimistic, easily the softest MC I have ever made.
✨ Goes by Ollie (Lee or Lea are fine too!). Entirely mindblown that between all four of aer parents, they somehow decided Oleander Woods was in any way a good name for a child??? (They think that sounds like a landmark)
✨ Ollie grew up in a loving household with two mums and two dads. It always amused them when all four of their parents would turn up to parent-teacher conferences at school, only to have people think "oh its so nice that people can get divorced and still make an effort to accept their ex's new partners for the sake of their child!". Yeah, no, Ollie's parents are poly. None of them are sure who got Mum #1 pregnant --Mum #2 is trans-- so they all claim Ollie as their baby and absolutely dote on aer and smother aer with affection.
✨ There is not a single ghost they will not help. They are selfless to a fault, and still feel like they aren't doing enough.
✨ Was overwhelmingly sad when they got mugged in the subway, not because their wallet was stolen, but because that person probably really needed the money.
✨ Will gently carry bugs outside. Tried to adopt every stray animal ever, in their youth. Volunteers at an animal shelter in their adulthood.
✨They know they are naïve, and that will lead to people taking advantage of them, but they don't really care if it means they can help people who actually need it.
✨ Worried about being misunderstood so they ramble and over-explain a lot.
✨ Really wants to get a tattoo (or several) but they are scared of how much it will hurt. Also the reason ae has no piercings.
✨ Their main goal in life (beyond helping as many ghosts find peace as possible) is simply to be comfy and warm. The ghosts trying to make and interrupt existing psychic connections tend to cause the air temperature around them to plummet --which is fine! Its not the ghosties fault!-- but it does mean they are forever in pursuit of a good woolen jumper.
✨ Their fav colours are orange, yellow, and green.

RATE YOUR MUSE'S TRAITS — TAG GAME
tagging: @fyrewalks tysm this was so fun!!! tagging: @arachnidiots, @inhcritance, @mcmorare, @nosestealer, @tartt9, @loisjoanne, @redbraid, @redvived, & YOU!
compassion : 10 / 10 this is probably one of andie's core traits. she was raised jewish, where helping to make the world a better place is a leading idea, and that includes helping individuals in need. she was also raised by her uncle tommy who is an emergency first responder, so she was raised on those ideals of risking your life to save others.
bitterness : 1 / 10
anger: 3 / 10 this is kind of a difficult one to answer because it's not that andie doesn't feel anger, it's just that she doesn't think it's productive. she tends to be angry largely at injustice: places where the justice system fails people, or is set up to fail people, or doesn't take certain people into account. anger towards people who are needlessly rude, disrespectful, harmful, etc, to others and especially when they show no remorse for this and / a lack of regard & care for others. she is frequently angry at the world that she sees, even if it doesn't seem like it, she just more so believes that it can be changed.
happiness : 9 / 10 she's an extremely cheerful person & is skilled at looking on the bright side and finding joy in nearly any situation
politeness : 7 / 10 manners are important and go a long way towards being kind to others, something that is always on the forefront of andie's mind. however, her tendency to be overly familiar/casual with people can tend to override politeness as can her excitement or cluelessness. when she realizes she's been impolite she always feels bad and apologizes, though.
chivalry : 8 / 10 similar to above!
pride : 8/ 10 andie's got a lot of pride in her for not just herself, but the people around her, too! more so for the people around her than for herself because a lot of what she does she views as ordinary and regular behavior even if it is actually above and beyond. she more so feels proud for small accomplishments like when she knits something she's happy with or has a really good day at feast. when she saves someone and it all goes smoothly it gives her a sense of joy and accomplishment, and she's proud to have successfully done it, but she doesn't feel special for being lovebug or for being kind. she's also so endlessly proud of the people in her life and what they accomplish. there's so much pride for others and she's always talking about / showing them off like a parent taking about her child's accomplishments. yes even if they're older than her.
honesty : 8.5 / 10 honesty is something that andie values greatly... though of course there is one very large aspect of her life where she has had to be dishonest and deceitful and that's as lovebug. it's something that she has come to accept as important to do to protect the people she loves, but it's also something that she regrets and resents having to do. she hurts a lot having to do that. she's also not very good at it because she's so used to being truthful in other aspects of her life so lying doesn't come naturally to her
bravery : 7 / 10 andie doesn't always feel that brave doing what she does. the kind of trouble that she gets into as lovebug isn't nearly as bad or serious as what many other heroes often get into, and while others may see her pacifistic stance as brave she doesn't because it's her every day. in fact she often sees people (like tracksdown's dallas & birdie's liam) who do utilize violence as extremely brave because she sees the toll that it takes on them to carry that, and she doesn't. that being said, she is actually very brave and far braver than i am both in her choices to be extremely open & honest with her feelings—especially love—and by her choice to be lovebug
recklessness : 9 / 10 c'mon, she's a spider, ofc she's reckless! she's also frequently underestimating how dangerous someone or something might be because she is too caught up in seeing the best and believing that everything will always turn out okay to properly assess how risky something is
ambition : 3.5 / 10 tbh andie isn't that ambitious! she doens't have a lot of big plans in life other than be happy, make friends, & help people. there are definitely places like FEAST where she does have big ideas and works hard to implement them within the organization, but those are more specific / isolated situation
loyalty : 10 / 10 she's quick to become loyal and it tends to stick like glue. once she cares about you, she'll care about you forever and she'll do just about anything for you.
love : 11 / 10
sense of family : 10 / 10 her family is very important to her! her uncle is one of the closest people in her life and she looks up to him immensely and feels safest with him. he raised her since she was 7 and very specifically he raised her in a loving, caring, and safe environment after her parents died. she doesn't quite.... get the impact of just how kindly she was raised until she's older, but how much he cares for her is something she recognizes. there's a lot of love for him, always. i feel like this isn't quite what this is about but idc. we love tommy in this house 🫶
attractiveness : 8.5 / 10 she is bright and warm like a beacon and also she is genuine and smiles freely and kindly and has a laugh that turns heads. nothing is more attractive than someone who is genuine and kind. no i am not biased with this question this is the genuine truth for all of humanity good day
agility : 10 / 10 spider-powers mixed with her natural athleticism & previous sports experience. but mostly the spider-powers. (no-powers aus tend to be more like 7-8.5. still pretty good!)
sex drive : 6 / 10 medium? this is a sfw blog so it's not really something i think about but yeah andie has sex that's just not my business

Extraordinary Attorney Woo 9
Okay, so this episode is slyly brilliant and I want to talk about it.
Episodes 7-8 were about Young-woo dealing with her parents and her connections, and Min-woo being an obnoxious pillock. In episode 9, we suddenly pivot to a story about a somewhat quaint man who kidnaps a bus of children to play games in the woods. He calls them the “Children’s Liberation Army”. He legally changed his name to a poop joke because it made kids laugh. The kids he kidnaps are a bunch of academy students who only know school and sleep. We all know this message - Korea’s academic system is broken and the casualties are the children, whose parents cannot see the hurt they inflict because they are unshakingly convinced that it is for their good (very very relatable). I root for Bang Gu-ppong because I also believe in children’s liberation, and I want him to behave so Young-woo can get him a lighter sentence, even if that means declaring him mentally unwell.
Young-woo, like me, believes in children’s liberation. Unlike me, she goes above and beyond to understand Bang Gu-ppong as an individual whose ideology has merit that should be recognised in the court - even if it means that he can’t get a lighter sentence. Her actions might not “win” the case, but she upholds her integrity towards her client and her own beliefs (a far cry from episode 5, where she ignored her gut feeling and sense of justice to win a case for a lying client). Where I am in the episode (I was so excited by its writing that I hopped on here to post meta while my brain was still firing), Min-woo has just asked Attorney Jung to please, pretty please, penalise Young-woo for her behaviour in court. Watching the scene play out, I was thinking, ‘does this man think he’s in school? you don’t just “penalise” people like that in a professional workplace, wtf...oh. OH’.
And then Attorney Jung says, “Giving rewards and punishments over who’s right and who’s wrong is not how I work”. And the whole thing just clicked.
Tumblr media
I remember reading somewhere that children, like women, are oppressed by the patriarchy, and by the systems created and upheld by the patriarchy. The education system is one such system and is therefore punishes any behaviour that might destabilise it. “Play” - to have reckless, aimless fun for the sake of fun - is violently opposed to the patriarchy, which is “work” (boys especially are raised to place their worth in their ability to work, which is part of how the patriarchy perpetuates itself. Bang Gu-ppong is unemployed - he’s got little worth as a man, and little worth to the system).
This is the same patriarchy that Min-woo represents in this story, and that he’s been desperately trying to uphold since Young-woo, a disabled woman, barged in to completely disrupt order. When Attorney Jung asks Min-woo why he simply can’t talk things out with her, it’s because Min-woo, like a lot of people in the story including Young-woo’s father, sees her as a child. He doesn’t see her as his equal. And when she proves herself repeatedly in ways that upset his own perceptions of the world, he mentally defaults to “school”, to “penalties and rewards”, because this is the only environment he can imagine Young-woo in and this is the only environment that would certainly punish her for her disability (and we know that’s true, since she was bullied all through school). What he doesn’t realise is how much of a fool he looks by doing all that, since Young-woo sees herself as an adult (which she is, duh) and doesn’t stoop to his level of clownery. Maturity is something much deeper than parroting the “right” language and presenting yourself in the “right” way. Bang Gu-ppong seems immature, but he refuses to lie about who he is and what he’s done, and why he did it. That, for me, is “adult”.
That’s not to say that I agree with him kidnapping a bus of kids lol. He says they consented to being spirited away, to which I say, ‘meh’. When it comes to kids and consent, that is always a hairy discussion because kids genuinely don’t have the perspective to know what is good for them. But, work and study is always assumed to be good for kids without question, whilst it’s play that has to be constantly treated with suspicion, always moderated, always surveilled. And discussions around kids and consent lacks a ton of nuance - it’s almost always an either/or scenario. Either kids don’t know anything, so let’s micromanage the life out of them - or, kids can definitely consent, all the time, so their “yes” is always “yes” even when it’s said in ignorance. There has to be a better way to give kids some agency in their lives. I think the saddest thing in this episode is the implicit child abuse - if Mujin Academy is famously harsh on its students, then imagine what kind of treatment the director must have inflicted on her own kids (and having Gu-ppong’s mother be the director ties the whole thing together perfectly). But even the director herself, like all women, is only trying to navigate the patriarchy - a single mother, in a system that loathes single mothers, who goes above and beyond to mould her sons into the perfect future patriarchs. They excel in education and gain the high societal marker by making it to the best universities in the country. And she capitalises on this “success”, showing other mothers how they too can make their own potential patriarchs. In doing this, she proves her worth to the system.
After Gu-ppong tells the attorney of the playground games he had with the kids in the woods, Min-woo (who can never do anything right lol) says, “I guess you didn’t do anything incredibly original.”  To which Gu-ppong responds, “The thought that playing has to be original is what creates gimmicky children’s camp field trips without the field part. Taking the children from here to there, making them do this and that, so that they can experience something novel and educational. That’s not playing. Even if all they’re doing is looking up at the sky and snickering at the clouds floating by, as long as the child is smiling and is happy in that moment, that’s what playing really is.” When he said that, the scales fell out of my eyes. It was like, of course, of course. All those school trips and summer camps I did as a kid that were heavily monitored, expensive, stressful -  even the kind of play that we think is acceptable for kids, is still work. That makes sense. This was the moment I realised that this show is being written by someone who truly cares about children. And it’s so radical! It dropped something so novel (to me, at least) on the sly, and with such humility too.
Man, I love this show.

Ayyyy ty :)
This has probs already been said but Oscar is also autistic. I don’t make the rules.
especially in your au with Morris. He knows he needs to protect his bro. He can’t show weakness. But he still struggles with figuring out what people mean (eg thinking Medda was trying to hurt morris in that last fic, thinking she was mocking mo with the stimming blah blah blah)
my boy needs a hug so bad <3
I’m gonna write a fic about someone offering him comfort and him not knowing how to accept it so he just gets mad and pushes them away. would yall like to see it? - 🤠 anon
REAL!!! SO REAL!!
i like the idea that he goes undiagnosed in the modern au too. largely by his own decision, because medda offers to get him assessed - first at the same time as morris, which oscar refuses because he wants to make sure morris gets all the attention and support, and then afterwards, which oscar refuses because he knows he’s not like morris, so clearly he can’t be autistic. and also he just…doesn’t really want to know. he’s afraid of the revelations that’d come if he is. he’s terrified of being vulnerable. medda tries to assure him that a diagnosis won’t change anything, but oscar isn’t having it.
he also has a lot of issues with ableism, at least when he’s younger. their parents and subsequent carers treated morris like dirt, and all he ever saw was his little brother being helpless and having meltdowns and messing up at stuff. it gets better as he grows up and starts actually trying to understand how morris’ brain works beyond just knowing that he can’t do certain stuff and gets upset easy but is also really good at other stuff, but there’s still a lot of stuff that he was raised with that he has a hard time letting go of. his idea of autism, when he finally builds it, is just morris - he doesn’t understand that it’s a complex spectrum that he could still be on. morris is the centre of the universe to him, the very core of his worldview.
like you said, oscar absolutely struggles with tone most, and tends to thus interpret everything in the worst-intentioned way possible. he has the exact opposite of all of morris’ sensitivities - he’ll eat anything, sleep on concrete with no problems, has a very high pain tolerance, can’t read his own body cues like hunger or thirst. he gets very restless, but his stims are much more subtly autistic than morris’ - hitting his palms together, pacing, crossing his arms and squeezing them, tapping his foot. he’s the type to click pens relentlessly and tap them and spin them, tosses his head back and cracks his neck when he’s bored or frustrated, cracks his knuckles - he likes those ones ‘cause they make people anxious.
he so desperately needs the opportunity to just…be himself. have someone pay real attention to him, which medda tries so hard to do but he just won’t let her. he only knows how to be morris’ big brother, morris’ caregiver, morris’ world to go hand-in-hand with morris being his. he’d break anyone’s nose if they tried to hug him, then try and break their jaw if they tried again, but if they managed he’d break into pieces. he has to try so hard not to every time morris crawls into his arms, tries to hold oscar like oscar holds him.
i would absolutely LOVE to read that fic if you write it and are up for sharing it :’) <3

Phantom Goes Cross-Country (Chapter 1)
Summary: After Danny's life goes downhill, his friends save the day with a roadtrip. Maybe all he needs is to get out of Amity for a while.
Words: 870
AO3 Link
Only a few hours away from Amity Park, and Danny already felt the relief sinking into his bones as he leaned out the window of the car. Without the haze of ectoplasmic mist, he could see dozens more stars dotting the night sky. It was silly, wasn't it? All this time, he could've taken a bus over to the next town and seen just as much of a difference in scenery.
But he hadn't - hence the part where he was getting "kidnapped" by his friends from highschool on an impromptu road trip.
He glanced over at Sam asleep in the back seat. How she managed to pass out in her elaborate outfit was beyond him. It felt like her boots went on forever, only to be continued on by the leather pants that couldn't have been comfortable to sleep in. She had more belts than he thought necessary, and a black tank top adorned with a completely unnecessary amount of chain jewelry.
It was a lazy outfit by Sam's standards, she told him when they first picked him up. Danny's idea of "lazy" involved a t-shirt and shorts - what Sam had rolled up in was mildly motivated at least.
By comparison, he and Tucker were in rags. Tucker was a hipster and wore it on his sleeve, and Danny had rolled out of bed, thrown a hoodie on, and called it a day. It was on-par with what one would expect from a couple of guys in their 20's, and Danny was happy to be a stereotype.
"Is the beanie glued on your head, or…" Danny teased.
Tucker raised an eyebrow. "Says the guy still wearing a hoodie he got in middle school."
"Touché."
With the silence already broken, Tucker's shoulders relaxed. He kept his eyes fixed on the road ahead, and hands grabbing the steering wheel with a death grip, but Danny had seen his friend have the same frightened rabbit posture back when they were first learning to drive. Turns out not much had changed in that time.
"So… what'd you finally decide to do about the ghosts?" Tucker asked.
"I called in a favor with Vlad Masters. He owes me one."
That was a bit of an understatement. What hadn't he done to prepare? With only a couple days' notice about this little reunion trip, Danny had been in overdrive for the last 72 hours. He'd gotten his vacation days in order, done a little mild threatening to make sure his coworkers would actually come to their shifts, called Vlad for the first time in ages to beg the man to keep an eye on Amity, and tipped off the G.I.W. to make sure they'd be on-alert for anything in the next few weeks. And really, he wouldn't be gone long, so what was the worst that could happen?
"Are you still cool with him, or did he go back to being an evil fuck the minute you turned 18?"
Danny leaned back in his seat and looked up at the ceiling. How the hell did they get so many stains on the ceiling of the car, but none on the seats?
"Nah, he's…" and Danny hated to admit this, "he's actually pretty chill now. I think he's just lonely - I should try to hook him up with somebody when I get back, if only so he stops bugging me."
"Bugging you in like a horny way or…?"
"Bugging me in an 'old, weird rich grandma who keeps offering to pay for my top surgery' way. The dude motherhens hard if I drop even a pound. It's fucking annoying. He should get his own kid to worry about."
"I will take one for the team and let Vlad be my sugar daddy, if you won't."
Danny gagged. "Tucker, that is the worst thing you've ever said. I'd rather you joke about my parents."
Between fits of laughter that left him light-headed, Danny realized it didn't hurt as much to mention them. The context was silly, sure, but even jokes always left him with a sour taste in his mouth and a pit in his stomach. Now? Nothing.
Maybe this trip was already starting to do some good.
"Don't tempt me. I've had five years to think of every possible dark joke and I will lay it out on you right now if you're not careful." Tucker warned, shooting a playful glare over at Danny for just a moment. Enough to qualify as "dangerous" in Tucker's eye, probably. That was progress.
"Since when were you such an edgelord?"
"Oh, like I didn't pick up a thing or two from goth-zilla… and Sam."
"Dude, you know I haven't fucked with that stuff since middle school."
"Once a goth-zilla, always a goth-zilla."
"Pull over so I can beat the shit out of you." Danny jiggled the door handle, just to get Tucker worried. Not like he was going to jump out of the moving car. He could - Phantom had done it plenty of times - but Danny was too lazy to fly around right now.
"Whatever, man. I'm not pulling over until we need to fill up on gas. You can fight me at the next gas station."

Midnight Headcanons!
Tumblr media
Alright you cool kids and groovy cats, here's the deal! This is my favorite Pro Hero, Midnight's, turn to have my headcanons bestowed upon her, and I adore them so you're getting them!
So without any further ado, here we go!
Family Headcanons!
She's the oldest of three children, the daughter of a former Yakuza and a Perfumer. Her baby brother Neruteno is part of the HPSC black ops team and her baby sister Aikita is a streamer/influencer that helps get business to her family alongside her.
Nemuri's parents, Fuwame and Ayaka, raised her lovingly and had her siblings at least three years apart each. So when Nemuri was three her brother was born and when she was six her baby sister arrived.
Being born so close together made the bonds between the Kayama children as tight as they can be, with Nemuri being a fiercely protective older sister and absolutely a father's daughter because Nemuri had a tendency to pick up on her father's trick lessons and be a complete rebel in her school days.
Nemuri Kayama was known as the one girl every guy was afraid of and for good reason because her Dad looked like he could benchpress all of them and she probably could too.
Although the real danger was Mama Ayaka. Neruteno admires his older sister and absolutely is the little brother who'd annoy her but at the same time be very supportive and protective.
Personality Headcanons!
Tumblr media
Nemuri surprisingly has a fine line between herself and the Midnight Persona that spouts out innuendoes and poses sensually. She takes her job as a teacher very seriously, especially towards the girls because she knows that Hero Work is more than just Super Cops, it's selling your soul and your privacy even.
She does have her moments of strict teaching, but it's mostly because she wants her students to listen and to care about what she's teaching them.
Sometimes it goes beyond her subject, and when she hears about some of her former students getting hurt or killed, and even allies getting hurt or killed it breaks her heart.
Shirakumo affected her for years, and she did go with Aizawa and Mic to see if they could get him back out of Kurogiri, and they started to. She was their friend too and tried so hard to get him to remember.
When she got home that night to Sushi and Koyurei she just... broke down. The fear and the stress and the constant nights mourning one of her friends and imagining how it must've been finally got to her.
She was one of the teachers who absolutely fought against using the kids in the War. While she knows they're far more experienced than they should be, that's precisely the problem.
They're just kids, just starting out, they shouldn't have to worry about life or death situations, it's the adults problem and they should handle it.
She is definitely a motorcycle girl, she rides it into work every day and takes extremely good care of it. She adores her cat and partner (My OC Koyurei.) but doesn't bring him up often because she wants him to get better.
After the War, she does have some scars left over, and was luckily rescued by her husband melting down her motorbike and getting her out of there and to somewhere safe.
She becomes a vigilante to continue protecting people alongside her husband, often being the one with more guts and violent tactics because she wants all the villains to remember who took them down for years after.
She's sweet, sure, but also very vindictive and sometimes cruel. But not without good reason and cause. She's a very playful, passionate woman who loves her friends, students, and family very deeply.
That's why she really became a hero. Because she loved so many people and wanted to protect them. She became Midnight because her sister's quirk put her in danger.
Life kept taking from her, so when she met Koyurei, an almost equally broken man but without the support system she had, she saw a kindred spirit.
That's why they got together. They were both broken and decided to support one another.
Also her quirk smells like whatever the recipient associates with falling asleep, or a happy childhood memory, something warm and comforting and wholly theirs.
To Koyurei, she smells like the scent of his mother's laundry. I know, weird but some scents just calm him down. Slowly though, her shampoo, her body wash, her scent becomes what he smells through somnambulist.
Romance Headcanons!
Tumblr media
Nemuri is a very caring partner. Some days she's overworked and stressed out, so having someone there for her at the end of the day gives her something to look forward to.
Nemuri is a top tier cuddler. I headcanon her to be very soft and her hair to be just as soft too. She's like a living bed almost. (Weird analogy I know.) She doesn't mind using her quirk on her partner because some nights he just can't sleep.
Plus sometimes he's just the right temperature to send her off to dreamland, too.
Physical touch as well as words of affirmation are her go tos. She tends to wrap her arm around the shoulders of her lovely husband and just praise him, then lean down and kiss him.
She loves being the cuddler, but sometimes she's the cuddlee. Oftentimes feeling Koyurei bundle himself up behind her and nuzzle her wavy locks.
Bathtimes are very, very special for her. Bubble baths, bathbombs, candles, mood lighting, music... the works. She loves just soaking her aching body from all the hero stuff she does in the water.
Sometimes she lets Koyurei join her, and by extension her partner, where they share some quiet time in the bath together.
