Can't take off my mind this very specific flavor of sskk dynamics from a timeline that goes like: the doa arc never happened. Skip forward to bunch of years past the canon events, and you have sskk who can't really call each other enemies since it's now evident to everyone they enjoy seeing each other, but aren't friends either since they do very much still work for enemy organizations. And they just keep stumbling across each other on their respective missions from opposite fronts, trying to capture the same target for their own team, and they keep fighting and competing with each other in a way that is almost playful (but never going easy on each other because then where's the fun!), making them both almost look forward to meet and clash with the other on missions and to fight for the same target. And the mission accomplishment rate has now decreased to a 50% for both of them but neither of them can bring themselves to really care because for the first time they're having the carefree, mindless fun they never experienced in their lives and they have a person they enjoy to spend time with to the point they even got past denying it. And Atsushi telling Akutagawa “even if I let you go now, I'll still have to hunt you down” and Akutagwa replying “hunt me then” and theatrically disappearing out of a window or something leaving Atsushi laughing and just. them being together although nobody is going to say it out loud

There is something deeply uncomfortable about the insistence that Crowley is never actually upset or in distress and it's just one big "game" to them.

I'm sorry, but whatever dynamic you think they have is nothing but fabrication based on your personal idea of what Aziraphale is like.

Canonically, Aziraphale repeatedly and violently crosses boundaries Crowley does not even want him close to, let alone result in enjoyment for him when they do get ignored.

No, Crowley did NOT want to give Aziraphale his car.

He did not want to stay behind with Gabriel.

He did not think it funny or "cute" that Aziraphale not only ignored all of his concerns but invalidated his emotions every single time he tried to communicate them.

Aziraphale hurting Crowley is not fucking funny or part of some sex game you are convinced they're playing, it's a gross disregard for Crowley's needs and autonomy, and exactly the kind of shit people throw at abuse survivors whenever they try to talk about it.

Write fanfic and headcanons all you want, I don't care about that, but insisting that all the plain, factual evidence of Crowley's emotional states is actually one big game is disrespectful, disgusting, and distressingly common.

There are reasons for Crowley never getting much fun out of spending too much time with Aziraphale or sharing vulnerable experiences with him.

Hc that even though Gothi can’t stand how rude Snotlout can be she feels bad for him.

She is a quiet observer and has seen how Spitelout treats him and once she realizes it isn’t just tough love and is actually abuse she is furious.

She gives Spitelout dirty looks in the market and if he comes to her for help she “accidentally” uses poison ivy instead of the right herb and she might “accidentally” knock him over.

She is the complete opposite for Snotlout she is always extra gentle when treating him and might slip him some treats after she finishes helping him.

He isn’t the brightest so he doesn’t realize and just thinks “huh I forgot putting that in my pocket” but it always makes him a little happier.

Her chest rises and falls rapidly, in panic, as she keeps fighting against the restraints, even as she can tell she’s not going anywhere. She’s not... personally strapped anyone down like this, but she’s seen things, at the headquarters of TD Industries. Been shown things. She knows secure restraints when she feels them, knows a secure lab when she sees one, even if it’s... it... it isn’t like anywhere she’s been before, here. It’s  alien,  no pun intended, but even without the weird unspoken words she’s getting from this guy she could guess what she’s here for.

Rumors of treasure in the deserts of Sreng have been spreading like wildfire in the Officer’s Academy recently, and it isn’t hard to imagine why. Every time the desert is brought up, more and more goodies are rumored to lie beneath the sands. Some claim that you could find mighty weapons from years ago, somehow perfectly preserved. One young student seems to think that there is a mysterious warrior with a “cool helmet” who would duel anyone who dares to disturb his home among the dusty ruins. Even the faculty have joined in on the speculation, eager at the possibility of uncovering supposed relics like “shoes that make you walk faster.” Either as a result of being enticed by the potential for treasure or out of eagerness to prove that the desert is indeed “deserted”, you decide to journey forth into the unknown. At the very least, the harsh conditions in the region should make for good exercise. [Grants Heavy Armor +1]

The hot desert sun beats down on him for what must be hours, a beast far more harsh than any mortal creature that might await him. The arid wastes of Fódlan are not much different from Magvel’s Jehanna, if not more barren and dry. Valter’s mind pushes away the recollection of his defeat (when he had fallen to that prince) — that was nothing more than a distraction here.

The rumors he had heard suggested there would be something worth finding in this place — weapons and some special items were the main point of most’s interests, but that was not Valter’s concern (such could be acquired anywhere, really). He was here for one purpose and one purpose only: to hunt. There could be no other reason for him, one who was sated by bloodshed alone.

Leaving had been simple enough. All he had to do was state plainly that he was going to investigate Sreng himself and leave would be adequately granted. He hadn’t yet earned the right to take a steed that wasn’t his own (which meant he had no steed with him at all), but that would be fine. Even as the sand shifted under his boots, it would not matter when the time came for combat.

He halts momentarily, another figure appearing between the windy spray. What they were doing remained unknown to Valter, but if they were in the desert alongside him, they were either hunting for treasure, seeking his quarry—

Or perhaps they were his quarry...

His footsteps are muffled by the sands, and he moves under the cover of a brief fog of the wind’s creation. When he enters striking range, he sees clearly the figure’s silhouette, and how it clearly lacks the one feature that defined the warrior he had come here for: a helmet.

Lovely.

“ And who might you be? ” he demands, his voice sharp and clear in the dry air. “ I see no reason for one such as yourself to be out in the middle of nowhere. ”

heaven's breeding program for making vessels is one of the most horrifying things in the show, and it's just mentioned so briefly but just completely recontextualises everything!

I would love to see a show about Mary and John meeting and just like. not really getting on. not hating each other necessarily, but not liking each other either. And then circumstances just keep pushing each other together and that forced intimacy ends up exacerbating things so that not liking each other turns into more active dislike

and then, suddenly, theyre in love! they love each other so so much and its amazing and isnt it so funny how they used to not be able to stand each other at first but now theyre so in love?

and its like that thing where ppl fall out of love for the same reasons they fall into it, their quirks that were endearing becoming insufferable, but the opposite! except also not, because even tho they love each other now (they love each other so so much!) they still dont really like each other

but no matter how much they piss each other off sometimes, they still cant keep away from each other- they get married, have kids, build a life together. and they keep fighting, they cant stand each other, they drive each other crazy, they each keep trying to escape, but neither of them can stay away, they keep coming back. no matter how much it hurts them both to be together, resentment constant, inability to get along, they just cant let go because they just love each other so much!

and then mary dies and its the worst thing that could happen to john, its heartbreaking, its tragic, the love of his life is gone, but his love for her isnt. he still cant let go, it hurts so bad and he misses her so much and he needs to do something, anything to put her memory to rest.

he is tortured by the loss of her, hes brokenhearted, hes obsessed, hes still in love with nowhere to direct it. he never even liked her.
