i like when sara wears a little lab coat to break gwyn davies out of the mental institution because i always like seeing her in fun costumes and disguises but also because it evokes that season 1 episode where she goes undercover as a nurse and meets the lesbian nurse. in that episode she is a queer person from the future visiting a queer person from the past and showing them that it is possible for queer people to thrive and find happiness. and she does that here too by telling davies that she married a woman. the placement of sara and davies in that setting also evokes the season 3 episode where sara and constantine go to the mental asylum and hook up. that was something that sara did because at that point in her life she felt uncertain about her feelings and her ability to be in a committed adult relationship without hurting the other person. now, sara is married to ava and knows that this partnership with ava is what she wants and that she is capable of being a part of it, and the similarity to the season 3 episode reminds us how far she’s come.
