After a long time of delaying, Shingomi finally finds the courage to confess her feelings for her most adored person. Will her feelings be accepted, and she finds her happy ending? Read and find out.

Finally, the long-awaited day arrives. Despite feeling nervous, Shingomi decides not to delay any longer and to confess her feelings to one special person. She knows she has to do it now because there might be no other chance like this.

That’s right, the first time Yabuki gathered all her courage to tell how she feels about her adored mentor ended with failure.

That day when she was supposed to meet up with Kyoko, there was no sign of her, nor did she pick up the calls. It wouldn’t be this bad if the robotic voice told her many times that the receiver was out of reach.

More importantly, Shingomi was devastated to learn about the sudden Kusanagi’s heir disappearance for nearly a year, and no one hasn’t known why and where she was gone.

Nevertheless, the younger brunette was excited and glad when her precious returned and even ruffled her hair while giving a warm smile.

No matter why Kyoko took such a long vacation without telling no one, Shingomi was sure that her mentor had her reasons, which should be respected and not questioned. Or so, Yabuki convinced herself.

Besides, the younger brunette doesn’t want to annoy her mentor with too many unnecessary questions. Even if she cannot understand why after taking a so-called long break, Kyoko looks exhausted and stiff and always avoids talking about it.

But for now, Shingomi impatiently waits for the Kusanagi to show up.

Since it was such an intimate topic to talk about, she had to make sure that no one else would laugh at her by saying these easy yet most difficult three words. That’s why Yabuki had to invite her adored Kusanagi-san to her house when her parents were at work.

Besides, it wasn’t the first time she and Kyoko were hanging out or studying together. After all, this place was familiar to the Kusanagi’s heir since their high-school days. Perhaps it might be the perfect spot to confess her feelings.

Or so, the younger brunette wonders as she checks on herself in the mirror so that nothing could go wrong. Nor making herself look like a fool in front of her most important person.

As Shingomi finishes fixing her hair, she hears a doorbell ringing.

‘‘Ah! It must be Kusanagi-san.’’ The brunette remarks with excitement in her voice. Lastly, she encourages her reflection in the mirror ‘‘Alright! You can do it! I… I’ll do my best for Kusanagi-san.’’. And with these words, Yabuki dashes to greet her mentor.

After she unlocks the door, she notices a familiar brunette wearing a white jacket, a black turtle-neck sleeveless t-shirt, and a pair of jeans.

Unlike her disciple, Kyoko looks concerned, yet she addresses the younger brunette in a serious tone ‘‘You asked me to come here as soon as possible. Did anything bad happen? Or did you get into trouble again?’’.

However, Yabuki gives a puzzled look and innocently asks ‘‘Eh? Why do you think like that, Kusanagi-san?’’. When Shingomi turns her head, she adds in a shy tone ‘‘But there is something important that I want to tell you for a long time. So, please, come in.’’.

This kind of reply confuses and concerns the Kusanagi even more. Nevertheless, she follows her disciple while hoping that it is nothing more but a bad sense.

After they got into the younger brunette’s room, Shingomi politely asks her mentor whenever she wants anything to drink or for a snack. Of course, Kyoko couldn’t decline Yabuki’s offer when she uses her puppy eyes.

Some time passed. When the younger brunette returns with two cups of hot chocolate, she gives one to the adored Kusanagi-san, who sits on the edge of the bed.

Lastly, as Shingomi sits next to Kyoko, the older brunette addresses her ‘‘So, tell me what is happening? Because you wouldn’t call out of blue.’’.

While Yabuki lowers her gaze and stares at her prepared drink, she replies in a slightly shaky voice ‘‘I know if I tell you this, you’ll probably be disappointed, disgusted, or even hate me. That’s why I’m not sure if it is okay to say it…’’.

After facepalming and deeply exhaling, Kyoko faces her disciple ‘‘Why do you think that way? Do you think I would hang out with anyone I cannot tolerate? Listen, if I hate you, I won’t even bother to talk to you.’’.

When she puts her drink on the night table, the Kusanagi’s heir places her hand on Shingomi’s shoulder and gives a comforting gaze ‘‘Besides, I cannot force myself to be even mad at you if you did nothing wrong. So, it’s okay. You can tell me whatever doesn’t give you rest.’’.

However, the younger brunette objects in a quiet tone ‘‘After this, you will.’’.

‘‘You don’t trust me, right?’’ Kyoko comments in a serious tone.

Suddenly, Shingomi widens her eyes and defends herself ‘‘Of… of course I trust you! However, I doubt that you’ll do once it’s over.’’.

‘‘You’ll never know unless you try it. So, shoot it~’’ The older brunette replies with a determined look.

This is it! She can’t run away any longer. Whatever will be the outcome, Shingomi is ready to accept it. Even if that means losing her adored mentor. At least, in this case, the younger brunette would show what she calls, the worst thing to expect from her.

After nervously swallowing the saliva and clenching her hands into the fists, Yabuki closes her and confesses from the bottom of her heart ‘‘I LIKE YOU!’’. Of course, such words shock Kyoko, and she dumbfounded stares at her disciple.

When the younger brunette opens her eyes, she continues her speech despite feeling how the heat rushes to her cheeks and ears ‘‘No… It’s not the right word for it! I… I mean ‘like’ wouldn’t be enough… I… I… lo… lo… I love you! So, there! I know you may not feel the same, nor do I expect you to forgive me for this. I mean, how can I be even worth enough to be anywhere near you? However, I cannot keep this secret any longer. It would be the wrong thing to do. That’s why, whatever you decide, I will be fine.’’.

Once Yabuki finishes her speech, she lowers her head and closes her eyes while impatiently waiting for the verdict of her mentor.

Meanwhile, Kyoko still cannot comprehend what happened and covers her mouth. Suddenly, she realizes that she has to say anything.

After a brief pause, the older brunette breaks the silence in a bewildered voice ‘‘I… I don’t know what to say… Nor do I have any idea that this is how you feel.’’.

‘‘I knew you would hate me now!’’ Shingomi replies in a wretched voice as she cannot stop the flowing tears.

Yet, the Kusanagi’s heir softens her gaze and sighs. Lastly, she pressed her disciple’s head against her chest and pulls into a tight hug.

Of course, Yabuki widens her eyes at such an unexpected gesture, but as soon as she feels how gently her hair is stroked, she closes her eyes and listens to Kyoko’s comforting voice ‘‘Did I ever tell anything like that? Perhaps it was hard for you to have such a struggle. But it’s okay now. You finally did it, and you took a lot of courage to take such an important step. I won’t lie. I feel honored that you feel this way about me, and I truly appreciate it.’’.

‘‘So, you feel the same way as I do, Kusanagi-san?’’ The younger brunette asks in a shaky voice while continuing to listen to the calming heartbeat of her most adored person.

As Kyoko still holds Shingomi in her warm embrace, she replies ‘‘Don’t get me wrong, you are a good girl, but you deserve a better person who would care about you as much as you care about me. Besides, you are still like a good friend to me. So, I prefer to keep it the way it is.’’.

‘‘I see… So, does Kusanagi-san already have that one important person?’’ The younger brunette asks in a gloomy tone.

Suddenly, the Kusanagi’s heir briefly cracks a smile and turns her head ‘‘I guess you could say so, even despite their flaws and stubborn behavior. However, who else will take care of them and soothe their wounds if it wasn’t me?’’.

‘‘Do I know this person?’’ Yabuki asks.

As the older brunette ruffles Shingomi’s hair, she answers ‘‘Unfortunately, I cannot tell you that. Unless someday they will come out. Until then, we might get into deep trouble just by mentioning it. On the other hand, even if you confessed to me before they did, I would have taken this as seriously as someone having just a temporary crush on me.’’.

In the end, Kyoko continues in a soft voice ‘‘I’m sorry, but I’m still not sure how we ended up like that after the… A-anyway, it’s a long story, and you probably will fall asleep. So, how about we should go somewhere once you cool down?’’.

‘But I want to know everything about you and why did you disappeared so suddenly.’ Or so, Shingomi thinks to herself.

However, Yabuki uses her chance and hugs back her precious Kusanagi-san. Lastly, Kyoko remarks ‘‘Someone is rather clingy, isn’t it? Fine. I don’t mind staying like this for a bit longer.’’.

Mini Fanfic #1168: Comforting With One Another (King of Fighters)

1:46 a.m. at Yabuki's Apartment's Living Room......

It was a dark, clear night in the streets of South Town where almost everyone are at their homes fast asleep for the rest of the evening.

Whereas our two lovebirds, Shingo Yabuki and Leona Heidern, are sitting down on the sofa together holding onto their mugs of hot coco after waking up from their respective nightmares.

Shingo: (Takes a Sip of his Drink Before His Eyes Begins to Sparkle in Awe) My god...... (Takes Another Sip of Coco with a Bright Smile on his Face) This has to be the best cup of coco I've ever tasted! I don't even think mom could ever top something THIS amazing no matter how hard she try!....D-Don't tell her I say that once we see her again, 'Kay? (Chuckles a Bit Awkwardly)

Leona: (Giggles Softly While Playfully Rolling her Eyes) I won't say anything, I promise. And I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Seriah used to make me mug whenever I stayed up late in this hour, until she taught me how to make on myself. (Uses her Plastic Sppon to Whirl her Coco Around a Bit) It's not perfect in comparison, but it does help calm my nerves from time to time. (Takes a Sip of her Drink)

Shingo: (Takes Another Sip Before Nodding in Agreement) Yeah.....I think it's helping my nerves a bit too, Leona-san. Which is great, cause I.....(Takes a Very Deep Breath Before Frowning) Really don't feel like going back to sleep anytime soon......

Leona: (Frowns as Well While Laying her Side of her Head onto Her Boyfriend's Shoulder Next to Her) Me neither. I can't remember the last time I had a nightmare this bothersome.

Shingo: Same.

Shingo/Leona: (Turns to One Another) What was your nightmare about? Oh! Sorry. You first. Please, I insist. (Stare at Each Other For a Brief Second Before Giggling a Bit)

Shingo: (Rubs the Back of his Head Back and Forth) We're both a real mess tonight, aren't we?

Leona: More or less. I can tell mines first if you want.

Shingo: Sure. Take as much time as you need to prepare yourself, okay?

Leona: (Happily Nodded) I will. Thank you. (Takes a Deep Breath Before Frowning and Speaking) My dream.....It....mostly involves my Orochi side.

Shingo: (Frowns in Worry) And....how you lost control?

Leona: For the most part, yes. (Puts Her Mug Down on the Coffee Table In Front of Her) It's not nearly as horrific as the previous dreams I had in the past, but.......('Sigh') It still managed to find it's way into terrify me when I least expected....

Shingo: I see......(Eyes Suddenly Begins to Widened at the Realization) Wait. You said that you and the Colonel have been doing those special training sessions together that help keep it under check, right? How's that been going along, i-if you don't mind me asking.

Leona: It's been going along smoothly for the most part thankfully. It wasn't without It's challenges mind you, but it still helped me out a lot since then. It made me feel more calm and....more in control than I ever was since then.

Shingo: (Smiles Brightly) That's great! You're making progress and I couldn't any prouder.

Leona: (Snickering a Bit) You sound almost exactly like my father whenever I give him status report.

Shingo: (Starts Snickering as Well) Me? Sounding like the great Colonel Heidern? I don't believe it~

Leona: (Giggles Softly) It's true!~ In private whenever no one was around the area, he would always brag and tell me how proud he is of me and how far I've come to get to where I am now.

Shingo: As he should be! Any parent would be proud of the progress their offsprings would make. (Gently Grabs Hold of his Girlfriend's Habds) And look, I know how scary and stressful this Orochi fiasco gets overtime, but keep doing what you do best in your training. I know what you have it takes to overcome what him and his followers would have thrown on you. Because what your name is?

Leona: (Stares at Shingo in a Brief Second Before Giving him a Determined Smile on her Face and Salutes to Him) Leona Heidern, the first woman in the Ikari Warriors, daughter of Colonel Heidern......(Forms a Bit of a Flirty Smirk on her Face) And the woman you've fallen over heels for~

Shingo: (Chuckles Lightly) You God darn right! You're amazing, Leona-san, and I believe in you 150% percent, always! (Gives Leona a Thumbs Up While Grinning)

Leona: (Giggles Some More) Thank you, darling!~ It means so much hearing this from you. (Gives Shingo a Kiss on the Cheek) But I'm afraid we're not done here, are we?

Shingo: ('Sighs a Bit in Defeat') No....Not even close.

Leona: (Gently Place her Habd on Top of Shingo's) You know you don't have to tell me if you don't feel comfortable enough in doing so, right?

Shingo: (Gives Leona a Bit of a Reassuring Smile on his Face) Yeah, but you were brave enough to tell me yours. It's only fair if I return the favor, you know?

Leona: Take as much time as you need to tell me. I won't go anywhere.

Shingo: (Happily Nodded) Yeah. (Takes a Very Deep Breath Himself Before Speaking Again) Okay! So......I'm....certain you've......remember the time i....accidently blurted out the time I.....almost died trying to protect Kyo from a Wild, Orochi Controlled Iori after 11th KOF Tournament ended....

Leona: (Simply Nodded) I remembered, yes. And it still worries me to no end.

Shingo: ('Sighs Heavily') Yeah, I figured you say that....But that was the dream I had tonight. Only this time.....No one was there to save us.....I wasn't strong enough to protect Kyo......or to fulfil Chizuru-Senpai's promise.........(Tears Starts Falling Down From his Eyes).....And I....('Sniff') wasn't able to see my mom and sisters again on that night.......

Leona: (Starts Getting Worried) Shingo.......

Shingo: And..... ('Sniff') I know. I know it's dumb of me to keep thinking about that now that I'm.....still alive and breathing....And I'm pretty sure Kyo has already gotten over it a long time ago, but.....('Sniff') I-I don't know! I....('Sniff') Just.... the thought of the possibilities of us not being so lucky at all kept scaring me nonstop!

Leona: It's....starting to get too much for you, isn't it?

Shingo: ('Sighs Heavily') Pretty much, yeah. (Starts Wiping the Tears Away) ('Sniff') Pretty dumb, am I right?

Leona: (Gently Grabs Hold of Shingo's Hand) No it isn't. Believe me, I know what it's like to have past trauma trying to weigh you down at your very lowest at times. But you can't let it take toll out of you forever.

Shingo: (Takes Another Deep Breath as He Starts Calming Himself Down) Yeah....You're right. I still have my whole life ahead of me to look forward to right now. ('Sigh') I just wish it wasn't too.....complicated, you know?

Leona: It's never gets easier down the line, but never lose hope. (Gives Shingo a Reassuring Smile on her Face) I know you have what it takes to overcome it completely one day. And I'll be more than happy to help out and support you every step of the way.

Shingo: (Heart Begins to Melt in Pure Happiness as He Hugs his Girlfriend Lovingly) You really are too good to me~

Leona: (Starts Pouting at her Boyfriend a Little) Don't say that. You know as well as I do that you've brought just as much happiness to me the moment we started becoming friends.

Shingo: (Chuckles Lightly) I know, I know, I was only kidding. I am really thankful for you making me feel a lot better though.

Leona: (Smiles Softly as She Hugs Shingo Back) Likewise. You're a truly wonderful person, Shingo-Kun and Ihpile I could aspire to become more open and strong willed as you are as I grow another year older today.

Shingo: I'm sure you'll- Wait, another year older today?

Leona: Well, it's technically my birthday today given it's midnight.

Shingo: (Eyes Widened in Complete Shock) You're BIRTHDAY IS TODAY!? I didn't know that!!

Leona: (Smiles Sheepishly) That's....probably because I've never gotten the chance to tell you until now. My apologies

Shingo: ('Sigh') No. It's my fault for not asking you about it a lot sooner. Now I got a lot planning to do........

Leona: (Starts Yawning a Bit) Let's worry about that when the sun raises back up. I'm sure we'll have plenty to do by then.

Shingo: (Yawns as Well) Definitely. But I'm definitely gonna buy you gift while we're at it.

Leona: Only if you promise not to buy me something too expensive.

Shingo: I'll try. I love you.

Leona: (Kiss the Top of Shingo's Head) I love you too~ Thank you so much.

I am a firm Sakura x Karin believer and Sakura x Ryu hater. I have never in a million years thought if Sakura and Ryu relationship as romantic. For me they are like Kyo and Shingo, but Ryu is more himble and honest than Kyo. Ryu and Sakura have a interesting relationship for sure but not romantic. Sakura for me always striked me as a protagonist material character. She could be so important. But you make her story on SFV all about wanting to retire from fighting and having kids as if that is the only thing that a woman can do? I hate that so much. I just want her to train with Ryu already and getting a more refined grasp on the Gouken style (i forgot the name) with all the Sakura quirks that we all love. Thats basically the only thing that she has going for her rn. That and Capcom maybe stopping being cowards and make her story on SF6 (she will be on sf6 i just know it) about how she is figuring that she has feelings for Karin that are romantic.

I just want them to do something interesting with her plzzzzz. She has so much potential as a character and you continously throw it away for no reason.

Curiosity - Kyo Kusanagi x Yuki Nagato by KyoFlameAshHylden

Kyo Kusanagi went to the SOS Brigade's club room during lunch time to have a chat with miss Yuki Nagato, just for curiosity.

Kyo: So tell me, is it true that you love books that much?

Yuki: Yes. It's better than doing nothing...especially if you don't have any friends...at all.

Kyo: No shit....a fate worse than death. The only friend I have is Goro... Benimaru it's not really my friend...he just wants to kick my ass....trying to make me the number 2 in Japan.

The same deal it's with Shingo. Iori Yagami could have been a great friend for me if he stops being a f***ing asshole & accept the fact that I can always kick his ass so hard...sorry, shook his head it's none of your business, I'll just shut up.

Yuki: To be honest your fights against Yagami are quite...unique. It gives that classic red vs blue style.

Kyo: Uh yeah, you see, it's not supposed to be fun. It's like a war...that started out before Jesus was born...and the war goes on, and on, and on, and on...between me & the red rooster. It's getting ridiculous. I want a new rival. Yagami it's no longer a challenge for me.

Yuki: Yeah, I wish Ryoko was back. So I could kick her ass a million of times like you did to Yagami.

Kyo: Nagato, I've told you that this isn't a game.

Yuki: So what? Nothing will happen, she tried to murder....you know who.

Kyo: Oh....you mean him, right?

Yuki: Nods She had that coming, it's not like a few scratches would kill me.

I'm just plastic. Nothing more...nothing less.

Kyo: That's not true!

Yuki: Yes it is. I'm like...a Rei Ayanami clone. looks down all gloomy

Kyo: No, you're not like her. You're milles better than her. You have spirit in you. You're

awesome, in fact you're the only person that I like in this group of yours.

Yuki: Looks to Kyo

Kyo: People call me a Ryu Hoshi clone, but that guy ain't got nothing on me at all. He's just a generic karate boy which he thinks he's Goku when he throws that Kamehameha thingy called Hadouken. Rei is pretty, you're prettier, she's creppy, you're not, she's smart, you're smarter, she's cool, you're cooler.

Yuki: Flattered by his words, she gives Kyo a shy but beautiful smile.

Kyo: Smiles back And hey, that's not just my opinion...that's a fact. kisses her cheek.

Yuki: Pats where he kissed Thanks Kyo.

Kyo: You're welcome. Well I better get back to class, talk to you later. Walks away & then stops as soon as he touches the doorknob Oh, by the way. Stay away from Koizumi, don't accept any date he asks from you....he's a major troll, worse than Orochi.

Yuki: Do not worry....I slapped him once.

Kyo: Oh really? What happened next?

Yuki: Winks at Kyo He ran away like a pussy.

Kyo: Haha, alright then. I better get going, see ya.

Title: The Confession

Summary:

[Originally written on 2018/09/28] [Takes a place around in early KOF94~95] When everything may seem perfect, Shingo's precious master's behavior makes him worried and prepare for the worst. Could it mean that Kyo already fed-off of his student? Read and find out. [Revisited and rewritten on 2022/02/01]

It has been a while since Shingo has decided to become the disciple of Kyo. That’s right, the successor of the Kusanagi clan, which, a long time ago, played a critical role in defeating and sealing the legendary Orochi. Yet, this young lad is not only famous for his self-taught martial arts mixed with his wielded flame. But he is also an annual winner of one of the most challenging fighting tournaments – King of Fighters.

And thus, this is where Shingo met his adored idol. Ever since that moment when he saw the Japan team's first match, he began to admire the older brunette as a skillful fighter. However, Yabuki only had enough courage to approach him when the Kusanagi’s heir returned to the high school. Perhaps, befriending the older brunette was one of the most significant occasions in his life. And thus, Shingo realized that Kyo is also a kind and charismatic person.

As time passed, Shingo started to respect and admire his idol more and more. When the heir of Kusanagi took him as a student under his care, it was the best day in young Yabuki’s life. Even learning new moves or simple yet, helpful tips about anything was something special that made Shingo’s day. So, it becomes natural for him to kindly treat his precious mentor, and cherish him despite how sometimes Kyo treated him.

At first glance, it may seem like a pretty cold or rather a harsh treatment towards the younger brunette. The Kusanagi is sure that it is the only way to teach anything to his disciple. After all, as a teacher, he needs to be strict with Shingo, and he cannot go too soft on him. Otherwise, Kyo would waste his time, and his hard work would be for naught.

Unfortunately, no one has the slightest idea how much patience, time, and effort it takes to train someone like Shingo. By no means the brunette sees his student as a hopeless case, which is beyond any help. It is just these tiny little details that are the real test of Kusanagi's endurance and power of will…

For example, no matter how clearly Kyo explains even the basic things, the younger brunette does not seem to get it, and he keeps repeating the same mistakes.

‘Maybe it would be simpler just to give up and quit teaching Shingo. At least I could finally have some peace.’ — Or so, Kyo recently began to think about it after a long day.

On the other hand, the Kusanagi can see that his disciple tries his best, no matter what happens. Countless times the younger brunette would get scolded or fall, but he always gets up and continues the training until he will get succeed in mastering certain moves.

However, Kyo cannot understand how anyone could be so excited and proud even over the tiny achievements? At this point, Yabuki almost reminded him of a child. That’s right, this kind of attitude was similar to a naive kid who rushes to show what he has accomplished to someone worthy of that trust.

Possibly, such innocence, honesty, and loyalty are Shingo’s charms, which he has no idea about, nor how to use them. More importantly, the older brunette has never seen anyone working so hard or determined as Yabuki. Kyo is fully aware that his disciple will never destine to master the Kusanagi style nor wield the flame, but even someone like the older brunette shows respect for that stubbornness.

Hell, despite how it is hard to admit, seeing daily his student’s progress amazes Kyo. Perhaps, at some point, Shingo surpassed his mentor. For sure, it makes the Kusanagi proud and relieved, knowing his spent time teaching his disciple can be rewarding. Eventually, Kyo even started secretly admiring his disciple.

Besides, it’s not that bad to teach someone like Yabuki. Or at least, as it seemed at the beginning. After Kyo gets treated by Shingo every day because it is his way of payment. One wise person has told – stay hungry, stay foolish. So, there was no way that the older brunette could turn off such an offer. More so, the food always tastes better when you can share it with a good company. After all, hanging out with Shingo is not as annoying as Kyo imagined at first. Contrary, his company was enjoyable, and his presence alone has a relaxing and calming effect. And thus, such a routine became a part of the older brunette’s daily life.

Unfortunately, nowadays, something feels off, and it cannot give a rest for the Kusanagi’s heir. He cannot shake off the idea of Shingo finally having fed off of him. Kyo cannot imagine what may happen if someday Yabuki decides that his assistance won't be necessary. Then, he would leave his side and find a better person. Perhaps, he got used to too much of spending his time with Shingo, and it was only in his mind. Or so, the brunette tried to convince himself.

However, there are a couple of other things which cannot give him a rest. The younger brunette has a natural talent to attract the problems where there shouldn’t be any. And thus, it’s always Kyo who drags him by the back of the collar from getting into more trouble. So, who is going to stop him from any reckless behavior when the Kusanagi’s heir is gone? Therefore, Kyo feels the urge to protect his precious disciple no matter what. However, he does not get why he has become so anxious and restless.

He even began to wonder who is Shingo to him – only as a good friend? Or it is just a mere master-disciple relationship. Perhaps, it could be something more? No, there cannot be something more than that. Or this is what Kyo wants to believe.

It cannot be that without realizing it, he managed to catch the feelings for his disciple. On the other hand, it is the only explanation that came to his mind. If it is the case, it would be wiser to get rid of these thoughts and move on. And thus, the brunette decides to do so. However, it ends up with an utter failure.

After thinking about whether he did fall for Shingo or not, he decides to overcome his pride and admit that it is true. However, the next issue is finding the way to tell this. Confession might be the right solution. Yet, he needs to find the right words and the right place. But what is the best way of doing it? For sure, he cannot make it sound so unexpected. So, it must be subtle and smooth. After a while, the brunette came up with a decent idea. Therefore, he decides to give it a try. Besides, it cannot end that bad, can it? Even so, he would have nothing to lose.

Finally, the long-awaited day arrives. According to his plan, they should meet at the destination place, and the older brunette has to say something important. So, now all he needs is to wait for his disciple to show up.

Meanwhile, Shingo got surprised by receiving a phone call from his mentor. For sure, it was out of the blue because Kyo rarely is the one who contacts the younger brunette first. However, Yabuki was also concerned about the way how his mentor talked. That unusual serious tone and speaking up in short sentences do not sound so promising to him.

Could it be that something bothers his adored master? Perhaps, Kyo is finally fed-off with his disciple, and now he wants to meet him to tell that directly. At least, it might be the most humane way of him doing it. Was it just the worst-case scenario? Or, unfortunately, the harsh truth? On the other hand, Shingo may find out the real reason why the Kusanagi acts so strangely and avoids him.

At last, the time has come, and both met as they agreed. At first, these two were just quietly staring at each other for a while. Yet, Kyo was the one who broke the silence between them and approached Shingo.

Of course, his disciple mentally prepares for the worst and waits in fear for these words. However, he could still have those happy memories. So, it should be fine, even having them. After nervously taking a deep breath, Shingo already accepted the rejection and hopes that it should be over soon.

But for now, Kyo turns his gaze away while trying to hide the rising heat in his cheeks. Lastly, the older brunette confesses in a quiet and embarrassed voice ‘‘Umm, not sure how to put this in words… Well, listen, I called you here to tell you…’’.

Like never, Shingo can feel how his life will be over any second now. He even froze in fear and simply wishes that it will end quickly. All Yabuki could do is nervously close his eyes and wait.

‘‘Just take this!’’ - Kyo declared from the top of his lungs.

For sure, these words surprised Shingo and left him dumbfounded. After Yabuki opens his eyes, he notices how his mentor picks something small and shiny from his pocket. Lastly, he hands over the tiny item into the younger brunette’s hand while lowering his head.

‘‘So, there…’’ - Kyo adds in a barely hearable voice.

All Shingo could do was stare at the given button while figuring out what that was supposed to mean. In the end, he has no clue, and, for a second, he looks up at his precious mentor. Then once again, he returns his gaze to the small item in his hand. Suddenly, he realizes that it is a button from Kyo’s uniform.

‘Wait… what?’ — Shingo thought. Yet, he quickly figured out what was happening now.

‘So, Kusanagi-san felt the same?… Wait, WHAT?!… Calm yourself. Just calm yourself!’ — Or so, Yabuki realizes.

Suddenly, the younger brunette’s confusion changes to overflowing happiness and relief like someone removing the heavy rock from his chest. Shingo cannot even control his emotions, and he tightly hugs Kyo.

However, soon enough, Yabuki is returned to reality by the sudden groaning ‘‘Hey, could you at least give me some space? It’s kinda hard to breathe.’’.

Once Shingo releases Kyo, the older brunette could finally catch a breath. After a short pause, the Kusanagi suggests ‘‘We can go somewhere and celebrate this. Of course, if you want. Don’t worry, this time, I pay.’’. Lastly, he pats Shingo’s head. While enjoying his adored Kyo's affection, Yabuki never felt so happy in his life. Perhaps, it is also only the beginning of their story.

Mini Fanfic #1081: A Surprise of the Making (King of Fighters)

8:56 p.m. Outside of Chizuru's Apartment............

Shingo: (Walking Down the Halls While Talking on the Phone) Are you sure that mission of your tonight isn't going to be too dangerous? (Eyes Widened a Bit in Fear) Or life threatening?

Leona: (On the Other Line) We're only making a simple delivery, Shingo-Kun, it's fine. Besides, do you knpw that I've managed to complete and survive throughmany dangerous missions in the past before, right?

Shingo: I do! I just.....(Looks Away While Blushing and Rubbing the Back of his Head Back and Forth) I couldn't help but to worry about you sometimes, you know?

Leona: (Smiles Softly) You have nothing to worry about, Shingo-Kun-H-HEY!

Shingo: (Starts Getting Worried) Leona!?

????: Hey there, champ!

Shingo: WHAT DID YOU DO TO- Wait. Is that you Mr. Jones?

Ralf: (Lets Out a Heartdy Laugh on the Other Side) The one and only! Just wanna chime in to 'Hi' and reassure you that your Leona-san here is already in good hands!

Leona: Major, give me my phone back right now!!

Ralf: In a minute, Leona, I'm just about done here.

Shingo: ('Sighs in Relief') Well, if you really say so, then I guess I have nothing worry about then....

Ralf: (Smiles Brightly) Exactly! Oh and also, this may or may not be super important, but our colonial here says he wants to see ya in the next two months.

Shingo: (Eyes Widened Again As He Hears the Sound of Glass Shattering in his Self Conscious) C-Coloniel?......Two months?......

Ralf: Yep! He said he wanted to meet you a lot sooner than that, but ya know? Duty calls as always, ya know? ('Heh') But uh yeah. Get yourself prepared by then and best of luck to ya, kid. You are gonna need it. (Chuckles Lightly)

Leona: Ralf. Phone. NOW.

'SMACK'

Ralf: AUGH!....(Winces in Pain on the Other Line) Ah god....

Leona: (Resumes her Conversation With Her Boyfriend on the Phone) I am so sorry about that! The Major hasn't told you anything too embarrassing, did he?

Shingo: (Immediately Comes Back to Reality) Oh! N-No, no it's nothing like that at all! He just wanted to say 'Hi' and stuff....On an unrelated note, but.... is it...possibly true that the colonel is expecting to see me in the next two months?

Leona: (Yells at Ralf Some More on the Other Line) You told him that!?

Ralf: Blame your dad, I'm just the messenger here!!

Clark: Would you two keep down? I'm driving here!

Leona: ('Sigh') Sorry, Major Steels. (Resumes Back to her Call) It's true. My father has requested to see you for some time now. But I don't want you to worry about that right now, okay? (Smiles Softly Again) You should relax and enjoying your night with Kyo and Ms. Kagura-san.

Shingo: (Takes a Deep Breath Before Speaking) Yeah, I'll try. (Smiles Softly) I'm gonna miss you all night though.

Leona: I'm missing you already. But I'll be sure call you first thing in the morning. (Puts on a Bit of a Seductive Smirk on her Face) Be sure to expect a lot hugs and kisses when I get back~

Ralf: (Starts Smirking Teasingly) Ahh~ Is that flirting I see?

'SMACK'

Ralf: OW!

Clark: You were asking for that one.

Ralf: SHADDUP!

Shingo: (Chuckles Lightly) I can't wait already! I love you~

Leona: I love you too, Shingo-Kun~ So much~ Have a very good rest of the night, okay?

Shingo: You too. Bye. (Ends his Call Before Looking Up at his Reached Destination and Nodded) ('Hmph') Right on time. (Knocks om the Door Three Times) Shingo Yabuki's here!

Kyo: (Inside in the Room) Door's open!

Shingo: 'Kay! (Happily Opens the Door) Who's ready for Anime Binging Nig-

Shingo eyes starts to widened once again as he sees Kyo sitting forward on Chizuru's lap staring at the boy, and ooking as if they were about to kiss at any moment with one or two kiss marks is already imprinted on both sides of Kyo's face.

Shingo: ....................Wrong room. (Closes the Door Before Quickly Sprinting Away) Elevatorelevatorelelevatorelevatorelelevator ElevaTOR-

Shingo abruptly stops moving once he hears the door opens few feets behind him

Chizuru: Shingo-Kun wait! Please don't go!

Shingo: Uh.....(Does a Surfer Like Accent) Like, who is this Shingo dude you're talkin' to? This is uh.....Bud. Bud....Peterson at your service.

Kyo: (Puts on a Deadpinned Look on his Face) Shingo, we know it's you.

Shingo: Again, bruh, I don't know whatcha talkin about! (Let's Out an Awkward Chuckle) I clearly said the name's Pete.

Kyo: Didn't you just say it was Bud?

Shingo: (Immediately Starts Sweating Bullets) Uh....Yeah, but.....but like.....Some people call me Pete sometimes and....(Chuckles Awkwardly) You know how neighborhood gets sometimes when it comes to nicknames-

Chizuru: Shingo, this us getting ridiculous. Let's go back inside and talk about this.

Shingo: (Slightly Turns his Head Around) But-

Chizuru: (Puts on the Old Fashioned Sad Puppy Dog Look) Please?~

Shingo: (Stares at Chizuru's Eyes For a Brief Second Before Finally Sighing in Defeat) Okayyyy......Let's go.

Few Seconds Later Inside of Chizuru's Apartment.....

Shingo: (Sitting on the Middle Side of the Sofa Twiddling his Fingers a Bit) So, you guys are.....a thing now?

Kyo: (Proudly Nodded) Yep.

Chizuru: (Smiles Softly) We've actually been a thing for quite a while now.

Shingo: Oh really? Fir how long?

Kyo: A half a year, give her take.

Shingo: Huh. B-But wait. How did this all started and.....Whatever happened to you and Yuki-san, i-if you don't mind me asking.

Kyo: (Shrugs) We broke up a while after the 15th KOF tournament ended. We wanted a lot different things, so it didn't work out in the end. A few weeks after that trainwreck later, I bumped into Chizuru again, talked and hangout a lot more than we usually did when we were a team until we started catching feelings for one another.

Chizuru: It took us a while to get used to one another, but it wasn't long until we eventually started to let our feelings run it's course thanks to a lot understanding and communication. And it was here and there that we started to truly love each other. (Hugs Kyo's Arm) Just the three of us~

Shingo: Awwwww~ (Raises an Eyebrow in Confusion) Wait. Three of us?

Kyo: Oh yeah, I forgot to tell ya. We're in a three way relationship.

Shingo: With who?

'Door Opens'

????: I'm heading out.

Shingo: (Eyes Widened Yet Again) That voice.....D-Don't tell me......

Shingo slowly turns around to see a man with short red hair walking out of the bedroom wearing red pants, a black leather, and holding a guitar case in his hand. The redhead in question was none other than Kyo's "eternal rival"....

Shingo: IORI YAGAMI!?

Iori: (Turns to Shingo as He Gives him a Simple Nod) Yabuki. (Turns to His Two Lovers Beside Him) I take it you three are getting started on that Anime Binge Watching Night or whatever?

Kyo: Yep. We're just filling the poor kid in our relationship is all.

Iori: (Looks Back at Shingo's Very Surprised Look) I see.

Chizuru Do you have everything you need for your band session tonight?

Iori: Everything's right here in this case.

Chizuru: Good. Now, make sure you call us if you need anything, okay? (Gives Iori a Peck on the Lips) We love you~

Iori: Love the both of you back. Keep Kyo out of trouble.

Kyo: (Smirks at Iori) Only if you stay of one yourself, edge boy.

Iori: Fuck you.

The two rivals share a short kiss together before Iori starts walking towards the door, causing Shingo's jaw to drop even more.

Iori: (Opens the Door) Have a good night or whatever.

Chizuru: (Happily Waves Goodbye to Iori) You too, dear~

Kyo: See ya.

'Door Closed'

Kyo: Annnnnnnnnd cue the loud, surprised yelling in 3. 2. 1.

Shingo: YOU TWO ARE DATING IORI YAGAMI!!?

Kyo: (Snickers a Bit) What? You couldn't tell by the smooch fest a few seconds ago?

Shingo: (Glares at Kyo) I COULD TELL JUST FINE, THANKS! I thought you two hated each other!

Kyo: Yeah, we still do.

Shingo: THEN WHY ARE YOU DATING HIM!?

Kyo: (Shrugs) Because I love him?

Shingo: THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE A LICK OF SENSE!

Chizuru: Shingo! Calm down. Remember our breathing exercise.

Shingo: BUT-

Chizuru: Do it now, mister.

Kyo: (Raises an Eyebrow in Confusion) You guys do exercises together?

Chizuru: Only with yoga, meditation, and breathing. It helps calm his nerves.

Kyo: (Snickers a Bit) Damn. Are you his mom or something

Chizuru: Yes, now move aside. (Walks Over to Shingo and Help Him Take Deep Breaths) Now breathe in......

Shingo: (Dies What his Senpai Says and Breathes In)

Chizuru: .....And breathe out.

Shingo: (Exhales)

Chizuru: Okay, one more time. In.....

Shingo: (Takes One More Deep Breath)

Chizuru: ......And out.

Shingo: (Exhales One Final Time)

Chizuru: There you go. Are you feeling calm now?

Shingo: ('Sigh') I am. So you and Kyo are....dating Iori altogether now, huh?

Chizuru: (Simply Nodded) That's right. I know it may seem hard to believe given our.... less than friendly history together.

Kyo: And his track record of being a dick.

Chizuru: (Sighs While Rolling her Eyes) Yes, that too. And I don't condone any of previous actions, especially what he did to you in the past.

Shingo: (Frowns in Silence)

Chizuru: But deep down, we know there's a whole lot more to him than he wants you to believe. (Places her Hands on her Chest) And there is no doubt in my mind that he loves us just as much as we love him.

Kyo: (Smiles Sincerely) He is our mopy jackass after all.

Chizuru: (Pouts at her Boyfriend) He's not a jackass, Kyo. He's more of a mopy kitten if anything.

Kyo: ('Scoffs') Yeah right. He wishes he was cute as a cat.

Shingo watches as two of the Three Sacred Treasures playfully bickers at one another over their significant third half. They seem to really fond of him all things considered. And while the fighter in training may not like or trust Yagami himself, it's....kinda nice to see him found two people he could love and cherish for the rest of his days despite everything. But to make sure the fondness between these three doesn't deceive him completely......

Shingo: H-Hey.

Kyo: (Gives his Attention to Shingo Along With Chizuru) Hm?

Chizuru: Yes, Shingo-Kun?

Shingo: I.....(Rubs The Back of his Head Back and Forth) Don't wanna pry on your relationship too much, but......(Turns Back to the Duo With a Genuine, Serious Look on his Face) Has he been treating you two right? Like, at all?

Kyo: What are you, our dad?

Shingo: (Comicallly Glares at Kyo) Just answer the question already!

Kyo: Alright, alright. If you must, then yes. Iori has been treating us good. Even if he is a emo prick.

Chizuru: He's still a bit rough around the edges. (Smiles Softly) But I can assure you that he's just as much of a sweetheart as you are.

Shingo: (Eyes Widened a Bit) Wait. Really? Compared to me?

Chizuru: (Giggles Softly) Of course~ I can't think of anyone else sweeter than you, dear.

Shingo: Awwwwww- I-I mean! (Clears His Throat) Okay....Okay. If that's the case, then I guess I have nothing to worry about.

Kyo: Finally got your appeal, dad?

Shingo: (Comically Glares at Kyo Again) Stop calling me that! ('Sigh') But yeah. I'm fine with you guys dating him. Sorry for making this a huge deal out of it....

Chizuru: (Smiles Softly) Don't worry about it. You were out of the loop of this topic for a while now that you were bound to find out eventually.

I remember a time when I joined some yahoo fan clubs (the what now?) for king of fighters

I was mostly there because I shipped kyo/shingo and just needed ANY sort of content and there was a long fic (general) shingo centric that was only available on there

I was friends with everyone and I told the author that I really liked how he wrote shingo and kyo’s relationship (it was a nice platonic teacher/mentor bond but I was starving for scraps so I took anything) and he knew that I liked them as a ship so he… wrote me smut of them… and it was like… the most awkward gay s*x ever. Clearly written by a guy who would never write such a thing if not prompted (I never asked him to…)

anyway just saying that maybe it’s just better to write the relationship you want instead of forcing something because it shows when things feel natural vs forced

TOURNAMENT START

With 16 teams ready to go, the tournament has begun! I can now start recording the fights and edit them into the best presentation yet.

Ever since the Fake World Tournament 1, I learnt that due to pacing issues and general unpredictable problems I can’t do these fights on a live stream. The fights are recorded and then edited in post. Streaming has proven problematic so I’m going to simultaneously make the full 16 team tournament available on YouTube and as part of a stream. I’ll make links available closer to the time.

I have a variety of personal things coming up but I promise I’ll work on this every chance I get. I want to get the tournament out there but I also don’t want to rush it (last year’s tournament didn’t have the best showcase) so please bare with me while I polish every part to a mirror sheen. I’ll also post production updates on here so you know how close the tournament is.
