alicia, my beloved! would you do me a great favour and answer some of these?
🤡🛒🌌🎶🙋‍♀️💖🤗🧠 (tell me about our boy klaus)
(also i 100% rbed that post in hopes that it'll give me an excuse to pester all my writer friends with questions, mission accomplished! 😈)
🤡 - What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
Ella, bestie - there's so many. I mean not all of them are laugh-out-loud funny, but they always bring a little smile to my face. I think Caroline pushes Klaus into a pool in Into Eternity? That's a good one. But I think most the more funny exchanges happen in The Big Bad Wolf. Somehow that fic turned into crack along the way and honestly it ran away from me. My OCs are just really fun to write. Probably the scene that made me laugh the most in that, was the bacon scene. With the lunar cycles. And then later on Klaus throwing Kol's phone out the car window because he caught him texting Rebekah about the new information. Scenes with Titus, Klaus' horse, and Sam's raven Loki also hit the top spots. Sorry, I just can't choose one.
🛒 - What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
Found family. Or a sense of family or brotherhood in general. I have no idea why. It's just too wholesome to leave out. Also probably an element of spookiness and horror, because I'm edgy like that, and I like my settings/characters a little dark, a little violent.
✨ - Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it. 😉
Okay so there's no constellation emoji on the original ask list so I'm assuming you meant this one? I don't know, maybe I'm just blind but I can't find it.
So. A compliment.
Will you accept 'I write good'? Lmao I don't know.
🎶 - Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
I actually have a few playlists on youtube that I set aside for writing. My brain is really sense-minded, so like when I put that music on it knows it's time to write. I've got a klaroline playlist, which are basically klaroline music vids, and also playlists for my fics. And then sometimes I just freestyle, listen to anything that comes on. I need to share the songs I listen to for TBBW at some point cause they are amazing. Here Come the Wolves by Lola Blanc screams Chapter 1. And then I Know Your Secrets by Tommee Profitt (feat. Liv Ash) is definitely Chapter 12. I remember listening to Running With The Wolves by Aurora for Chapter 13 a lot.
🙋‍♀️ - Do any irl people know you write fanfic?
Yes. Sort of. A close friend knows. Though I have not shared my ao3 name nor my fics and do not intend to lol.
💖 - What made you start writing?
I actually can't remember when I didn't write in some shape or form. I've been writing since I was a small kid, in like primary school. Probably Year 4? Maybe even Year 3? I would have been like 7 maybe. I basically remember watching the movie of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach, and little kid me thought, oh I want to write a book! And so I started writing a book called the Dragon and the Peach. I think the plot involved a dragon called Sapphira, who like goes on this quest and eats a magical peach that makes her strong and powerful so she can defeat the villain. That story eventually evolved into a different, more complex plot as I got older, with more characters and backstories. By Year 6 I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. And then in my teens I found fanfiction and well, here I am, ten years later, still writing fanfiction lol. Nothing really made me start writing. I guess Dahl's books inspired me originally, I really loved them as a kid, but nothing made me do it. No one pushed me to do it, or said I'd be good at it. For me writing has always been a calling. I really had no choice but answer.
🤗 - What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?
Read. Write. That's it. Read as much as you can, because that's the finest teacher of how to write. Literally. You'll find whatever genres and tropes you prefer to read will start popping up in your writing without even realising it. And when you do write, keep writing, even when you get writer's block - even if its 200 words per day or 200 words after weeks of nothing, at least its no longer a blank page. Write while figuring out how to plot, how to characterise, how to build up tension. Don't be ashamed of stuff you wrote a year ago because it sucks - it doesn't suck, you've just improved since then and now you can write better. It's a victory, not a defeat. And don't write for anyone else but yourself. Like I said before, writing is a calling. It's bleeding words onto a page because you have to get it out or you'll go crazy. You are your first reader. So write for you.
🧠 - Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favourite headcanon for them.
So. Klausy. Neeklous. Our boy Klaus. What headcanons do I have for him, hmm? 🤔
[I'm trying to think of one I haven't told you, it's a challenge]
Okay I have one. Not sure if I've included this in a fic yet, but a headcanon I love is that Klaus steals artwork from galleries and museums for kicks and replaces them with copies he painted before the originals are noticed as missing. The galleries and museums around the world have yet to catch on. He thinks its funny. Compulsion gets boring after the first few centuries, after all.

Hi, I love your writing! I was wondering if you could do more of Katherine and Elijah with a baby - maybe the rest of the family find out or something? There’s no rush to do this but if you could that would be great <3

Warnings: none
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Nik, Bekah, you guys have to come with me right now. You'll never believe what I just saw" Kol rushes into the living room, not even closing the front door.
"What did you do now?" Klaus glares, while Rebekah rolls her eyes. All she asks is for one day of peace with none of her brothers barging in and ruining it.
"Nothing! I only saw something that if I told you what, then you wouldn't believe me. So come on, get up off your butts and follow me" Kol explains, both his siblings hearing the whining in his voice.
"Fine, but it better be good" Rebekah sighs and gets up off the couch, answering for her and Klaus.
It's Klaus' turn to roll his eyes, but follows his younger siblings anyway. Might as well see what Kol is yammering on about.
They follow the youngest sibling, ending up on a street right out of town. They're in front of a house, and they look over at the smiling baby brother.
"And we're in front of a random house. Kol?" Rebekah sighs, crossing her arms over her chest. "Just look through the window, and see what's going on in there" Kol points to the big window.
Kol walks up to behind the massive bush in front of said window, and the siblings follow him, exasperated. "Look!" Kol whispers excitedly. Klaus and Rebekah look through the window and their eyes shoot wide open at what's playing out in the house.
In the living room, Elijah is cradling a baby, 8 months old at the most from what they can tell.
Elijah looks down at you in his arms, and softly smiles as he walls around the living room. You're big eyes look around your surroundings before giggling and nuzzling your head into his chest.
He softly smiles and kisses the top of your head. His arms secure you tightly to his chest, making you snuggle up to your Dada.
"My sweet girl" he whispers before sitting on one of the navy coloured couches.
"What the bloody hell" Klaus says. And as if it can get any weirder and more confusing, Katherine freakin Pierce walks into the room. She obviously came from another part of the house. The kitchen is a good bet because she's holding a baby bottle filled with milk about halfway.
Katherine walks over to her husband and daughter and sits next to them. Elijah and her had gotten married long before you were born. 1958 to be exact. They've kept it a secret and killed anyone who had found out about it. You were definitely a surprise, but a great thing that happened.
"You want to feed baby girl?" Katherine smiles. You turn your gaze over to your Mama, hearing her voice. You immediately coo, and reach out the best you can for your Mama.
"Well, I think we know the answer, don't we?" Elijah passes your over to Katherine. "Hey, sweetie, you wanted Mama?" She hands Elijah the bottle, which he takes. And she adjusts you to cradle against her chest. You babble along to your parents, having no clue what their on about.
Elijah hands Katherine the bottle back when she's ready, and wraps his arm around her shoulders, having her leant against his side comfortably.
Kol, Klaus and Rebekah watch as Katherine feeds you your bottle, and Elijah watching you and Katherine with adoration in his eyes.
"Now are you guys glad you came with me?" Kol turns to them, smile lighting up his face, knowing what his siblings answers are even though they won't say it out loud.
"What are we going to do about this?" Rebekah says. "Without killing anyone please" she glares at Klaus, knowing his thoughts about Katherine.
"I'm sure they wouldn't mind visitors now would they?" Klaus smirks after a minutes of silence. "Great idea" Kol says, already walking up to the front door. Either way, if his siblings cared or not (which they obviously do), he would've disturbed his big brother and his apparent wife and child anyways.
He knocks a couple times, Klaus and Rebekah aside him.
Elijah gets up carefully from the couch, as your almost asleep, and heads over to the front door. When he opens it, he's not expecting to see his siblings on the other side.
He swears under his breath, bringing a hand up to pinch the bridge of his nose. This is going to be one hell of a thing to explain to his siblings without having zero death in the process.
Why just why did his siblings have to bud in his business now, why not during any other time. This is going to be a long day.
"If it makes you feel better, we didn't just barge in" Kol says, cheeky smile on his face. "Kol" Elijah sighs and looks at his younger siblings.
"When exactly were you going to tell us you have a child, Elijah?" Klaus asks, face stone cold.
Katherine's eyes widen and she freezes when she hears his voice, and other voices as well. Before she can unfreeze and even think of what to do, Elijah walks back into the room with his three siblings following behind him.
She has no idea what to do, Klaus, her technically brother in law, is standing across the room along with Rebekah and Kol. He's wanted to kill her ever since she ran away from him the day she found out about the moonstone and his true purpose for her.
"Do not worry, they're not here to cause any harm" Elijah stands beside where she's sitting with your now sleeping form in her arms. He sets a glare on Klaus. Not any glare he'd give kol for disrupting something, but a death cold glare that no one dares crossing him, even Klaus, when he's smart of course. And right now he's definitely going to be smart. He's never seen Elijah this serious in his entire life, and that says something.
He slowly starts explaining what has been happening in his 'secret life' that kol called when he first starts. As he goes deeper in, Katherine explains some things as well. She feels a bit better now, knowing Klaus is standing down and only listening, not planning to do anything. And Elijah's right beside to protect her if the time comes.
The explaining goes smoothly. No one's hurt, and you haven't woken. The only thing that happens next is Rebekah asking to hold you.
She's always wanted kids, and since being turned, it has been snatched away from her, but she still dreams about having kids. When Elijah and Katherine both slowly nod, having a discussion with their eyes, Katherine stands.
Rebekah walks over to her and carefully takes you into her arms. Her grin is large as she holds you against her chest.
"I think we can manage, for now" Elijah looks over at both Klaus and Kol, who are still on the other side of the room.
Asleep
Summary: After spending an unproductive day at the Mikaelson compound, you pretend to be asleep so you can get Kol to carry you to bed.
Fluff, fluff, fluff!
Kol Mikaelson X Fem!Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You sighed, stretching your legs which ached after being in a position for a little too long. You had finished the novel in your hands in one sitting, even though the plot and the characters were disappointing. Safe to say, you were bored.
Before you met your boyfriend, Kol, about a year ago, you were quite content living alone, attending classes, completing assignments, and reading books. You had never realized when you became so used to him, his quips, his charming smile. You now couldn't spend a day without him, without finding everything around you worthless. He brought light and meaning to your days, making each moment valuable. He taught you how to live life with a different perspective. He effortlessly wove himself into your days, making them happier. That every day after a tiring day at work, you knew you had someone to come home to. And you couldn't help falling in love with him a little more with each passing day.
His dysfunctional family adored you, and you loved them back with all your heart. Life was happy. You were happy.
It was past midnight and he hadn't returned. You were alone at the compound. Rebekah, Freya and Hayley were at the plantation house with Hope, so for the past week, you were with the brothers.
With each passing moment, you grew more worried for them. Sure, they were some thousand-year-old invincible original vampires, but over the years, they made quite a few formidable enemies. Being a human, you never imagined the horrors of the supernatural world.
Lost in thought, you almost didn't hear the loud footsteps entering the house. By the way they hit the floor, you instantly knew it was Kol. You were quite observant, and despite not having the heightened senses of a vampire, you could use your own quite well.
"Now, now brother, that wouldn't be quite fair, would it?" You heard Klaus' thick accent. Kol cackled and Elijah mumbled something incoherent to which Kol doubled over laughing.
You quickly snuggled to the pillows, lying down and pulling your heap of blankets closer, closing your eyes and pretending to sleep, turning around slightly so that the boys would not be able to see the smile you were sure you would not be able to keep off your face.
As the footsteps grew louder, an argument between the younger brothers could be heard.
"Shhhhhh."
The whispers ceased and you could almost hear the smile forming on Elijah's face.
A chuckle.
A pat.
Footsteps retreated and one moved forward. You feel the couch dip at where your feet rested and Kol took them in his lap and rubbed them with his rough fingertips. His touch was warm, and with great effort you silenced the sigh escaping your lips.
He stood up and moved. He lifted you up in his arms, bridal style, discarding the blankets covering you. You fought off the smile threatening to form on your face as he carried you upstairs.
A door opened and closed.
Kol laid you on the plush bed and covered you with the silky duvet. You made no movements to get more comfortable. He pushed your hair out of your face and grabbed your ankles and pulled them down.
A few moments later, the door to your en-suite bathroom opened and closed.
You opened your eyes and grinned triumphantly, giddy that you fooled your boyfriend. When the door closed again, you felt the bed dip at your feet.
A silky, soothing voice you knew a bit too well spoke. "You can stop pretending now, darling."
You didn't open your eyes and carried on the act.
"I know you aren't asleep." You opened your eyes, unable to keep the pout of your face. You released a breath you didn't realize you had been holding.
Your eyes met with the gorgeous face of your lover. He had a goofy smile on his face. Your heart beated insanely fast and you whined. "How did you know?"
"I know you, love. You can't fall asleep without me. Your heartbeat gave it away."
You groaned, but you were secretly happy.
" If you wanted me to carry you to the bed, baby, you could've just asked."
One of Those Days
poly!mikaelsons x reader | request
summary: between the constant fighting and city clamor, you're overstimulated from the minute you wake up. you try to isolate until you feel better, but sometimes, that only makes things worse. luckily, your loving vampire partners are always there for you.
tags: sensory issues, mental health, overstimulation, arguing, mild emotional hurt / comfort
a/n: requested by @asexualaromosafezone - i am SO SORRY this took me literal months to complete. a couple days ago, i suddenly remembered i never filled it and finished it asap. i hope you like it, and again, so many apologies!
Tumblr media
Sometimes, you wake up, and can immediately tell it’ll be a hard day. The sun has barely risen, yet there’s already a million noises coming through your window. Chatters of people having their morning walks, car horns from those too impatient to let them cross, the distant clang of a dropped pot, and-
“REBEKAHHH!”
-Klaus, yelling for his sister. At seven in the morning.
“What the bloody hell are you shouting for?! I’m right here!”
You sigh, glad that mystery solved quickly.
There’s probably a few more minutes until your alarm rings, so instead of getting up a little earlier, you opt to enjoy your last minutes of peace. Though you soon realize that’s impossible, given your circumstances. On top of the city sounds, there’s a bird right outside your window, and when you try to turn away from it, the tag on your blanket itches the inside of your thigh.
“Ugh!” You toss the blanket off.
Your alarm sounds not a second later.
With a slap to your phone and then another to your forehead, you decide to just get ready for the day. Luckily, not much is planned. Marcel still has control over the city, and with you being human, your Mikaelson hosts don’t want you outside at all.
See, you live with the family of original vampires. You used to be a Mystic Falls’ resident, but then after developing a close connection with the siblings, decided to move to New Orleans with them and get a fresh start. You were tired of the small town life, and while the big city can be overwhelming at times, you’ll never get sick of the culture it has to offer. Besides, living with the most powerful family makes you happier than you ever believed you could be.
As much as you love them, though, they can be a pain. Like when Klaus can’t find his sister, but forgets a whisper would summon her just as effectively. Instead, he has to wake up the whole quarter, and inconvenience you with a headache. When you reach the dining room that day, you slump your head on the table.
“Everything alright, darling?” Kol’s voice floats over your head, making you aware of his presence.
“Tired.”
“Is your bed comfortable enough? Do you need more blankets?”
You haven’t been in the city long, and his consideration warms your heart.
“Oh, I’m okay. I’m very comfy. Just haven’t gotten used to the city yet.”
“Ah, I understand.”
His attention drifts to his sister. You busy yourself with a plate of food and ignore how tired you feel. When Elijah sits beside you, you offer a smile, but don’t say anything. The man, polite as ever, does the same. Though while two of the siblings are quiet, the other two aren’t. Klaus and Rebekah are still on the same topic from earlier. They bounce off each other quickly, childish banter turning into an argument.
You try to eat in peace and ignore them, but it’s difficult. And it doesn’t help that you’ve been feeling down lately, anyway. It’s rather unexplainable, the way you feel. Some days you’d rather stay in bed all day than face the world. Your whole body could be begging for you to get up and get things done, but you just can’t. No matter how hard you fight your own mind, sometimes there’s no winning the raging war.
To make matters worse, you’re always hypersensitive when you find yourself in these low moods. Every little thing is overstimulating and there’s no pause button. This morning, you didn’t even get a chance to wake up before the sounds started. (Thanks, Klaus.) You roll your eyes in your head, annoyed.
“Hey.” A poke to your shoulder startles you, making you jump. “You okay?”
“Ooh, you caught me off guard.”
“Sorry,” Kol smiles, “you in deep thought, or rolling your eyes at Klaus’ statement?”
“Uh…” You bite your lip. You were rolling your eyes about Klaus, but missed whatever statement it was that he just made. “What did he say?”
“That he was on his way to have a little chat with Marcel. That will go swimmingly.”
“Oh.” You snort and decide to joke. “Both.”
Kol grins at you, but then, thankfully, leaves you alone again.
After breakfast, you retreat back into your room, not in the mood to face the day. If Klaus is really going to start shit with Marcel, it’ll be an intense day. You’ve never met the current king of the French Quarter, but Elijah’s told stories. Marcel and the family used to be close, but then, like all their other relationships, ties ended drastically.
“But not with you, of course,” he had promised. “You’re our girl.”
You were skeptical for a moment. Who wouldn’t be, knowing the Mikaelsons? But then Klaus approached you from behind with a kiss to your hair and confirmed his brother’s words,
“As long as we have your loyalty, you’ll always have ours.”
You could see the truth in his statement. Everyone who ended up on their bad side had betrayed them in some way. So, as long as you didn’t repeat others’ mistakes; as long as you kept your trust in the family, you would be considered family. And ever since the day you first grew close, you have been their family.
You’re close with all of the siblings. Elijah, first, when you couldn’t take your eyes off him at Damon’s dinner party. Then Rebekah, and then Kol, when he undaggered. Even Finn, before his untimely death - thanks to Matt, your good friend now worst enemy. Klaus took the longest to trust you, and you can’t blame him for having trust issues, but once he realized how much his siblings adored you, he was quick to accept your place with them.
Now, the five of you live together, nine hundred miles from your hometown. It’s certainly a change, but every day with them is an adventure.
Like today, you suddenly think, overhearing Elijah’s footsteps in the hallway. Today has definitely been one of those days.
“Y/N?” He stops outside your door.
“Mhm?”
“Can I come in?”
“Sure.”
Elijah opens the door, but doesn’t fully enter your room. He looks you up and down before smiling. “I just thought you seemed sad earlier and wanted to check on you. Is everything okay?”
“Oh!” You put on a brave face to mask the tiredness you feel internally. “Yeah, I’m just out of sorts today. It’s nothing.”
“Are you sure? Because if someone’s bothering you, that’s something we can take care of.”
“No, no, I promise. It’s all just me. Just having a day.”
“You’re positive?” He asks for confirmation again.
“Have I ever lied to you, ‘Lijah?”
He looks down at his shoes, embarrassed. “No, you haven’t. I apologize for doubting you.”
“It’s okay,” you step closer to him, resting against the door frame. “No need to apologize. But I swear, I just… woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something. New Orleans is a loud city. I’m still adjusting.”
“Okay. Well, call if you need anything. Even the smallest thing.”
“I will.”
“Oh, and be careful in the off-chance that Marcel storms in here. There’s a fight brewing in the quarter.”
“I’ll keep an eye out.”
“Better yet, stay inside for the day. So you’re not in harm’s way at all.”
“Okay, ‘Lijah.”
He smiles at you, then kisses your hand. “Now, I need to neutralize my brother. But I needed to make sure our girl was okay first.”
“She’s okay. Go deal with him.”
Elijah straightens his collar before speeding off to no doubt defend his brother in a fight. You love Klaus, but man, does he get angry. And then from anger, comes pure rage, then absolute chaos. Once situations escalate that far, the whole block better hide if they want to keep their hearts in their chest.
You sigh, thinking of the carnage that may come. You’re not sure you can deal with his anger issues today, especially not coupled with those of Marcel. Of all the days they have to fight, it’s the one that you might snap, too, if he raises his voice one more time.
Suddenly, your bed looks like the perfect oasis away from the mess behind your door. A good pillow over the ears might prevent an impending meltdown. You crawl into it at once and let your body melt into the mattress.
You hadn’t lied to Elijah, though you hadn’t given him the full truth, either. Yes, you are, in general, okay. Not necessarily today, but at that moment, you were. Also yes, you’re not feeling great today, partly because of all the city noise. And, finally, yes, most of it is just you and your body not in the mood to be awake. Though Klaus is contributing, just a little bit, to your mental distress today. Elijah would understand, of course, but then he’d have a talk with his brother about it, and you really didn’t want to burden either of them in that way, so you put on a smile and didn’t mention it. You’d bet Elijah knows the full truth, and knows why you won’t admit it, but he respects you if you don’t want to talk about it. That’s one of the reasons you love him so much.
You get a couple hours of rest until your slumber is interrupted by a new knock on your door. It’s not soft, like Elijah’s, so it must be one of the younger two.
“Oh no,” you mutter, wondering what it must be now.
“Y/N?” Rebekah’s voice comes from the other side. “Are you awake?”
“I am now.”
She opens the door as you reply. “Oh what the bloody hell are you still doing in bed?”
“Sleeping.”
“Obviously! Come watch a movie with Kol and I! We’d love your company.”
“An actual movie, or the public display of violence happening outside in the quarter?”
“We haven’t decided yet!” She grabs your hand. “Come on!”
You yawn. “I’m gonna pass today, I’m not up for it.”
“Awh, Y/N! It won’t be as fun without you!”
“I have a headache, Bex,” you fib.
“Do you want some blood for that?”
“Does that even work like that?”
She shrugs, “not sure.”
You cuddle into your pillow. “Another time, okay?”
The girl smiles, then leans forward to kiss your head. “Okay. If you change your mind, come find us.”
“I will. Thank you.”
“Dinner’s at seven. Will you be there?”
“Yeah,” you promise, “I should be better by then.”
You are not, in fact, better by then. If anything, your foul mood progressed into an actual headache within thirty minutes of Rebekah leaving. Shouts throughout the city managed to penetrate the thin glass of your windows, and you could hear almost everything as Klaus heckled the current king. For hours, it went on, until the sun went down and they assumedly put it off for another day. By seven o’clock, you were able to sneak in another nap, but you still felt way overstimulated from the day’s events.
Not to mention the fact that you spent all day in bed. Sometimes, you’re overstimulated by too much going on, but today you partly did it to yourself by hiding away all day. The guilt of avoiding everyone weighs on your chest. Rebekah had invited you to a movie; Elijah went out of his way to check up on you, and you had more or less dismissed them both. A bitter taste sits in your mouth when you think about it. Water doesn’t wash it out.
Hopefully dinner will.
For the first ten minutes, the night passes peacefully. Most of the conversation is focused between the meal and the movie the two had watched. The events of the day, seemingly, are left in the past.
But then, of course, Kol has to make a comment on something he overheard that he thought was funny. And that set Klaus off into a spewing of anger. He’s pissed at Marcel, but now, also, at Kol for bringing it up. Elijah puts his face in his hands, and Rebekah sends both a huge eye roll.
What was a moment of much-appreciated silence is now a yelling match. After five minutes, you reach your breaking point.
“Why do you feel the need to comment on that, Kol? It was so insignificant, but you’ve felt the need to bring it up, and now I’m reminded of how much Marcel has done to piss me off!”
“I didn’t mean to make you upset, bloody hell! I thought it was funny!”
“It wasn’t funny to me when he was spitting in my face! I-”
“Oh my god! Are you ever not arguing?!” You suddenly shout.
The table goes silent and all eyes are on you. A needle could be dropped and it would be heard across the quarter.
“I’m sorry,” you apologize quickly, embarrassed.
“Love,” Elijah puts a hand on your shoulder, “are you alright?”
At his touch, you flinch. He retracts his hand quickly, but doesn’t move his body away from its proximity to yours.
Klaus, although upset at the interruption, notices this and calms a little. “Everything okay, Y/N?”
“I’m fine. It’s nothing.”
“That little outburst didn’t sound like nothing.”
“I’m just stressed.”
“Darling, what’s got you all upset? Tell us and we’ll sort it out now.”
“It’s no one, Kol, I’m just not feeling well.”
“Still have a headache, sweetheart?” Rebekah asks.
“You have a headache?” Klaus butts in.
The assortment of questions makes you drop your head. It nearly hits the table, but Elijah grabs your frame before you can fall. Tears form in your eyes, visibly.
“I’m just really overstimulated today. I woke up weird and this city is loud, and then there was all the fighting all day long, and then I hid in my room all day, but then I felt bad about hiding, and now I’m making you all worried because I can’t get my shit under control!”
“And that’s your fault, how?” Elijah asks, “you cannot blame yourself for the way you feel.”
“But I need to handle my emotions better. I’m sorry.”
“No apologies necessary, love,” Klaus adds, “I certainly haven’t helped, fighting with children all day.”
“Niklaus,” Elijah warns, but Klaus doesn’t argue with him this time.
“I should’ve stayed with you when you said you had a headache.”
“Don’t blame yourself either, Bex. It’s not your fault.”
“But we could’ve cuddled,” she frowns.
“It’s okay. I got a nap, and it helped a little. I just need to get used to my life being different now. None of you are at fault.”
“Nor are you,” the eldest reminds, “it’s been quite a day for us all.”
Kol clears his throat, “say, after dinner, if you feel up to it, we could all watch a movie and cuddle around you? I think some comfort is much needed.”
“Sure,” you agree, “but I might fall asleep during it.”
“That’s quite alright,” he smiles. He then stands up to hug you, but when his arms wrap around your neck, you freeze.
“Not yet, please. I’m still a bit stressed.”
He gives you a wink. “Of course, darling. Let me know when you’re ready.”
Klaus flicks his napkin across the table. He’s folded it into the shape of a heart. “We love you. You know that, right?”
You take the heart, kiss it, and put it in your pocket. “I do. I love you all, too. Thanks for understanding.”
The first 2 months of their relationship she came up with every excuse in the book to not stay the night at his house. Forgotten things, appointments the next day, family emergencies, and she had to give Klaus credit for putting up with it for 2 whole months before he began taking it personally.
Admittedly he considered she was just more comfortable sleeping in her own bed and so he had gone shopping and gotten the comfiest bed he could possibly find. He knew she liked it because she had drifted off on it for many naps at the strangest times, naps he always felt bad waking her up from for some reason he couldn’t identify, though she never complained.
He had also considered that she was uncomfortable around his siblings and so he set out to ensure they behaved themselves around her and they all did. Elijah loved Y/n, he was thrilled to finally meet his brothers redemption in human form, he knew this girl was it for his little brother and he would do anything he had to, to make sure she stayed with him. Even if that means controlling Kol.
Shockingly enough, Kol loved her as well. She distracted Klaus and kept him off of the youngest Mikaelson’s back, she also kept him in a mostly good mood which saved Kol many a time when he had screwed up again. Rebekah also enjoyed her (though it took her a while to warm up) after learning that Y/n was much different than her Scooby Gang friends and didn’t judge Rebekah. Y/n enjoyed spending time with the Original girl, going shopping with her, having days out just the two of them, basically giving Rebekah the best friend she had always wanted.
All 3 of his siblings would have done anything to make sure Y/n was comfortable in their home.
It was actually Elijah that proposed the possibility of her having sleeping troubles but Klaus dismissed this as he had seen her fall asleep in the oddest places at the oddest times.
When Klaus finally just asked her if she had reservations about being with him, she gave in and stayed over. She didn’t want him to think that she didn’t love him, or that she was afraid of him so she pushed through her discomfort and packed a bag, staying with him for the entire weekend.
The first day after Klaus woke up he had planned a day out for the both of them and though she was exhausted, she powered through. The second night she laid there, staring at the ceiling all night long with Klaus’ arms around her without the option of even reading on her phone, only getting about an hour and a half of actual sleep.
It was the third night that she finally snuck from his arms and ended up in the family room, reading a book. Klaus woke up around 2am and ventured off to find her, thoroughly confused as he could clearly see how exhausted she was when he looked at her eyes.
‘Love? What are you doing out of bed?’ He asked and she jumped, startled as none of the vampires in this house make noise when they walk. She had gotten used to identifying everyone she’s ever lived with by their footsteps but she can’t do it here.
‘I couldn’t sleep is all. Go back to bed Nik, I’m okay.’ He shook his head, moving to her and taking her into his arms with no effort at all.
‘I’m not going without you. Come on, I’ll make you some hot tea and you’ll fall right asleep.’ She shook her head this time and tried to get him to put her down. ‘I can compel you to help you relax…is that what it is? Are you scared of being here? I promise you that my siblings-‘
‘Nik! It has nothing to do with your family, I-‘ she heaved a heavy sigh, forcing her way to her feet and sitting back on the couch while he crouched down in front of her, taking her hands into his.
‘What’s going on, Love? I don’t understand-‘
‘I can’t sleep.’ She admitted, actually feeling good about finally saying it out loud to him. ‘I have had really bad insomnia since I was a kid. It started when I was 6, it’s why I end up napping in such strange places. I get so physically tired that my body eventually just passes out…it made for some interesting jokes with my family my whole life. That’s why I didn’t want to stay here, it’s even worse in unfamiliar places and I didn’t want to keep you up.’ Klaus paused, just watching his girls eyes as they looked over his face nervously.
‘Why didn’t you tell me, Y/n? It’s not a big deal!’ He eyes hardened and she glared at him angrily. ‘Let me rephrase that. It’s obviously a big deal that you can’t sleep. It sucks and I wish you didn’t have this problem, but it’s not a big deal to me.’ He hated how she looked up at him in that moment and he wanted so badly to comfort her, moving himself to the couch and pulling her onto his lap, kissing her head tenderly.
‘It’s embarrassing. Do you know how funny everyone thought it was when I was a kid? They got annoyed that I would be up watching TV all night but then be laughing about a new picture they took of me asleep leaning against the couch standing up. It was like my issues were a huge joke to tell at parties. My parents showed those humiliating pictures to everyone that listened, she sent one into school for my yearbook childhood picture. I don’t tell anyone…I should have just told you but I didn’t want to risk you finding it funny. God knows Kol would never let it go-‘
‘No one here will tease you, I’ll make sure of it. Now, let’s go get you to sleep. I don’t know how long compulsion will last but you’ll be able to get some rest. No more embarrassment over this, you had me worried sick, do you hear me love?’ She nodded, allowing her Hybrid to sweep her off of her feet and carry her back to his overly comfortable bed.
It turns out compulsion only works for about 3 hours at a time but considering how shitty her sleep normally is, it does wonders for her. Klaus is more than happy to wake up and compel her once again into sleeping for a few more hours and now that he can, he all but moved her into his home with him.
Apparently even a fucked up internal clock doesn’t stand a chance against a hybrid.
Day 30 Prompt: "Are you with me?"
Summary: When Finn is undaggered and starts conspiring with his mother to destroy the Originals, Elijah calls in the one person who might be able to convince him this immortal life is worth living: his wife.
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
After more than 900 years of being a vampire, not a lot surprised me anymore. But when I woke up one morning to a call from Elijah Mikaelson, surprise bordering on shock was the overwhelming emotion.
I'd picked up the call without thinking about it, without checking the number. Even though I hadn't spoken to Elijah in hundreds of years, I still recognized his voice in an instant. He asked if he'd dialed the right number to reach me, and all I could do was exist in shocked silence for a few long moments.
I waited to respond for a few extra moments after snapping out of it, briefly debating hanging up. If it had been a different Mikaelson sibling, I would have done it. But if Elijah had tracked down my number to call me, I figured it must be for something important.
"...Yeah, Elijah, it's me. What do you... what do you want?"
I could hear his heavy sigh on the other end of the line, and I had to bite back a laugh. Once upon a time, I'd started to consider that sigh of exasperation the familiar gesture of family.
"Niklaus has broken his curse," he finally said. My heart stopped dead, but I tried not to let it show in my voice.
"Okay. And what does that have to do with me?"
"Niklaus also managed to kill our father, Mikael, and now that he's succeeded... he's undaggered our siblings."
"What?" I breathed. This couldn't be real. I must've been dreaming or something.
"He kept his word to me, albeit after taking advantage of a loophole," Elijah continued. "Finn has been undaggered, along with Kol and Rebekah. We're in Mystic Falls."
I sat down heavily in the nearest chair, my mind reeling. I'd been in love with Finn from the moment I'd met him, literal ages and lifetimes ago. We'd been inseparable from the moment Finn first started courting me, and although his family initially had mixed feelings, Finn had turned me and we'd gotten married with (mostly) full support.
And then, about fifty years into our marriage, Klaus had gotten angry at Finn, and daggered him. I'd spent about another fifty trying to get him back, until Klaus had almost killed me. He'd told me the next time I made a "rescue attempt", he wouldn't hold back. I was ready to keep going anyway, until he also threatened to dump Finn's body in the ocean, never to be found. I couldn't risk him following through. So I'd mourned the love of my life as if he was dead, and then I'd ditched every last other member of his family for good.
Until now. The thought that he was back, finally, free from that stupid box... It didn't seem real.
"Elijah, I've had very little issue with you in our long, long lives, but all the same... why should I believe you?"
"Why would I lie?"
"For Klaus."
"To accomplish what?"
I paused at that. I racked my brain, but I couldn't think of anything the middlest Mikaelson would possibly want with me. If there was something, I would've heard from him before now. And I hadn't. He'd left me alone for the past 850 years.
"Finn has been undaggered for a few days," Elijah continued, correctly reading my lack of protest as a green flag to continue. "I used my connections to track you down because we have a problem, and it seems like one you would be best able to solve."
Now it was my turn for an exasperated sigh through my nose.
"So you did call me for an agenda."
"One that serves you and Finn both." I rolled my eyes, and although Elijah couldn't see it, I had a feeling he knew what I was doing. "Our mother has mysteriously returned from the dead. Like our father, she is determined to wipe us off the Earth, as she feels our current forms are abominations. Unlike our father, she's been trying to talk us into agreeing with her and choosing to end our own lives."
I gasped, a scowl making its way onto my face. I didn't exactly love all of the Mikaelson siblings, but for a mother to try to convince her own children to kill themselves was absolutely horrific, no matter how many times I'd thought about killing her children myself.
"She hasn't made any inroads with any of us," Elijah reassured me. "Except... for Finn."
"You're joking."
"I'm not. Since being undaggered, my brother has expressed freely his feelings that immortality, especially as a vampire, is a curse that he wishes to end. My mother has only fed this mindset, and now I fear the two of them are working together to end all of us."
"And what do you want me to do about that, exactly?" I asked, even as I moved around my house to start packing a bag. If there was even a glimmer of hope that I could help Finn, I would. Even after 900 years, I knew if the positions were reversed, he would do the same for me.
"I'm hoping you can talk him off the ledge, so to speak," Elijah answered. "Keep everyone alive and well."
"I'm going to stop you right there, Elijah. It feels like you're building to threatening Finn, and I've had enough of that from your family for a million more lifetimes. I'll be there later today. Just tell me where I can find Finn."
"...I'll make sure he's at the Mystic Grill. It's a restaurant in the middle of town, you can't miss it."
"Great. See you in a few hours."
I hung up before he could say anything else.
Quickly, I finished throwing my things into a bag, then hurried out to my car. I had no time to waste if I wanted to save Finn.
Luckily for me, the drive only took a few hours, which gave me time to process everything Elijah had told me and that I'd have to face in Mystic Falls. It still didn't feel quite real that I was about to see Finn again.
That hazy dream finally faded when I walked through the doors of the Mystic Grill, my bags still in the car. I scanned the room and like a heat-seeking missile found Elijah in a corner booth, sitting across from someone who still had their back to me. The last time I'd seen Finn, he'd had hair down past his shoulders. But even from the back, with a new haircut and modern clothing, I knew it was him.
I quickly crossed the room, my heart speeding up with every step, until I stood before both of them. Elijah immediately turned to look at me, but I only had eyes for Finn.
He looked remarkably good, considering he'd been in a box for 900 years. He stared at Elijah with a raised eyebrow, then slowly turned to follow Elijah's gaze until he saw me.
The world stopped, and everyone else in the room disappeared. Finn, my Finn, the one I thought I'd lost any hope of ever seeing again, the man I loved beyond all else, was here. Sitting before me, looking at me with familiar hazel eyes. Alive.
"Finn," I breathed, the smallest of smiles tugging itself onto my face. An instant later, thanks to vampire speed, he had me wrapped tight in his arms. He breathed my name into my hair, so quietly that even Elijah's super-hearing probably didn't catch it. I squeezed him tight, a few tears leaking out as I did. He was back. He was really back, and alive. No dagger or gray skin or anything else that haunted my nightmares.
"How did you know I was here?" he finally asked, pulling back with awe on his face. I smiled and nodded towards his brother.
"Elijah found my number and called me. Can we talk?"
Finn glanced back at Elijah with slightly narrowed eyes, then looked back at me.
"...Yes. Lead the way."
I didn't know the town any better than he did, but I also didn't want to hang around the Grill in earshot of Elijah for this reunion, so I pulled Finn towards the door. We wandered towards the park, and after a quick scan of the area to make sure we weren't being eavesdropped on, I led him to a bench where we could sit together.
"I'm... so happy to see you, Finn," I said, taking his hands in mine and fighting to hold back another round of tears. "I hope you know... I tried to get you out sooner. I really did. I just... I wasn't strong enough. I am so, so sorry."
He shook his head, squeezing my hands a little in reassurance.
"It's alright. I'm glad I'm getting to see you again."
"Before you let Esther kill you?" Finn's eyebrows shot up, and I pursed my lips. "Elijah told me what you're planning to do, Finn. It's why he called me in the first place. I would've come running no matter what, but none of your siblings would've reached out to me without some other motive. We both know that."
Finn sighed through his nose and shook his head.
"And that is exactly why our time on Earth needs to come to an end. Monstrous behavior like that has become normal for them. For us. It has to stop."
"Does that include me?" Finn's gaze had wandered to other parts of the park, but it snapped back to me at my words. "Your umbrella of monstrous vampire behavior that has to stop. Am I under it just by virtue of being one?"
He sighed, staring down at our joined hands for a long, long time before looking up at me, pain in his eyes.
"I wish I could say no. My heart wants to say no. But... you've lived a long life in the years I've been gone. I don't really know you. Not who you are now."
I looked away, the gears turning in my brain as I nodded thoughtfully. He had a point; I had changed a lot in my 900 years wandering this Earth without him. But I still loved him, and I hadn't changed so drastically that he wouldn't recognize the new me.
"I have an idea," I said, turning back to him with a smile. "Let's go away together. Come back home with me for... a week. Let's get to know each other all over again, and I can show you why I've decided it's worth it to stick around all these hundreds of years. Alright?"
Finn frowned. "I don't know... my mother-"
"Has had her time to make her case. And if you really want to, you can come back here to her whenever you want. But you're my husband, Finn. Nine hundred years, and I've only ever loved you. So now it's my turn."
The barest hint of a smile quirked up the corner of his mouth.
"It seems like you haven't changed much, in a few ways at least."
I grinned. "I didn't need much longer than we had together to get good at telling off pushy family members of yours. The only one who's ever bested me was Klaus, and I don't intend to ever let that happen again. If your mother's trying to walk you off the ledge... she's gonna have to go through me."
Finn sighed, pulling me to my feet with him as he stood. I worried for a second, until his small smile reappeared and he met my eyes.
"Let's go home, then. For a week. Wherever 'home' is for you."
****************
I wasted absolutely no time loading Finn into my car and getting the hell out of town. It was going to be a lot of driving for one day, but it would be worth it. I had no intention of letting any of his family members get in my way. I'd never even had to unpack my bag.
As we left Mystic Falls behind us and pulled onto the highway, I put on my favorite playlist and shot Finn a grin.
"How much have your siblings caught you up on everything you missed over the last nine hundred years?" I asked. Finn frowned and shook his head.
"Very little. Do we really need to be going this fast?"
"Yes," I said, pointedly hitting the accelerator as I got up to speed with the rest of traffic. "Don't worry, I'm a fantastic driver. I promise it's normal and safe."
"Hm." Finn nodded, still looking a little unconvinced, so I reached over to take his hand.
"First lesson on the wonders of life, Finn: Road trips are the best. We've got about four hours to cruise, talk, listen to music, and stop for the most deliciously, bad-for-you food imaginable."
Finn huffed a small laugh. "I suppose that could be fun."
I grinned, cranking up the volume on the song playing, one of my favorites.
"I'll take it!"
****************
Slowly, over the course of the rest of the drive, Finn loosened up a little. He'd always been the most formal and reserved of his siblings, but when we were together, he'd always relaxed around me. This time, it took a little longer to get there, but around the second hour he started laughing at my stupid jokes and asking questions about things he saw that he found interesting. By the time I pulled up in front of my house a few hours later, he had a smile on his face and the tension had mostly eased out of his shoulders.
"How long have you lived here?" he asked, eyes surveying the house as I grabbed my unused bag out of the backseat.
"Oh, probably close to a decade. I've had the house for a lot longer than that, but I move in and out pretty regularly, since it would be obvious to my neighbors after a while that I'm not aging."
Finn nodded thoughtfully. "And does that ever bother you? The constant moving, the lying. The leaving."
"Sometimes," I said with a shrug. "But I like traveling and exploring the world. This way, I get to do that while also having a home to come back to after everything. It's more often than not been the best of both worlds for me."
"Hm. And do I need to be invited in?"
I grinned. "Nope! The house is mine. Unlike your siblings and quite a few other vampires, I haven't spent my eternity making enemies, so at least so far I haven't needed to keep other vampires out."
Finn chuckled, and the sound made a warm feeling grow in my chest. He looked happy, and seeing him glowing as he walked towards the front door of the place I called home was exactly the thing I'd been dreaming of for 900 years.
As if on-cue to interrupt my moment, my phone rang. I glanced at it to find Elijah's number staring back at me and huffed a sigh.
"Finn, would you mind taking my bag inside? I need to take this."
"Of course, my love." He gave me a soft smile as he took my bag, then headed for the front door. I watched him for an extra second, the fading light of twilight painting the world in a soft glow, then answered my phone with a sigh.
"What do you want, Elijah?" I said, not bothering with a hello. I turned my back to Finn and walked a few steps away, hoping he'd be too focused on the house to listen in on my conversation with his brother. I didn't want anything messing up our week away, especially not family drama.
"Where is Finn?" Elijah asked, his tone a bit demanding. I narrowed my eyes.
"Why do you need to know?"
"Because, as I remember mentioning to you, he's in the middle of trying to plot with our mother to kill all of us. I'd like to be aware of his location and progress for my own sake, and the sake of my family."
"Finn is family, and family you left rotting in a box for nine hundred years," I spat. I took a deep breath, getting my anger slightly more under control, then continued. "Finn is with me. I'm going to spend some time with my husband, thank you very much, and hopefully throughout the course of that I'm going to convince him it's worth telling your mother to go to hell to stay here with me. Our goals are aligned in keeping Finn from letting your mother destroy your entire family, Elijah, and that knowledge is just going to have to be good enough for you. We're supposed to be family, too, so you at least owe me that."
I hung up before Elijah could get another word in. I shoved my phone back into my pocket, then took a couple deep breaths before finally turning back around to head into the house. I was going to enjoy my week with Finn, and I was not going to let anyone get in our way.
I wandered inside to find Finn just sort of standing in the middle of the room, looking around. I showed him around and helped him get settled, and the two of us spent the night the same way we'd spent the drive, talking and telling stories and catching up after being apart.
We made dinner together, and I introduced Finn to the wonders of boxed mac 'n cheese before convincing him to sit down and watch my favorite Disney movie with me. It was late, so we went to bed right after the first one, but Finn seemed to enjoy it enough that he'd probably want to watch more after we got some rest.
For the first time in a long time, I drifted off with the comfort of Finn next to me, alive and well. I was determined to do whatever it took to avoid losing him ever, ever again.
****************
The next week felt like heaven on Earth. Finn and I quickly fell into a new, easy, happy routine together, exploring the place I'd called home for so long during the day (while also getting him more caught up on the modern world) and watching ridiculous movies on the couch together long into the night. I didn't want it to end, but I knew that if we disappeared for too long, Esther or one of her other kids would come looking for us. Finn and I needed to settle the issue once and for all, sooner rather than later.
But first, I had one last trick up my sleeve.
"So... we're supposed to go back to Mystic Falls in the morning," I said, leaning my elbows on the counter as I met Finn's eyes across the island. "But there's one more thing that I do as a regular part of my vampire life that I'm going to keep doing, no matter what. Fortunately for both of us, I think you might like it too."
Finn raised an eyebrow, and I gave him a soft smile before pushing off the island.
"Come on. Follow me."
He did, without hesitation. I tried to hide just how much that made me smile.
Finn and I walked from the house deeper into the downtown area, where people still walked back and forth despite the late hour. Finn carefully took in all our surroundings as I led him along, falling back into my normal routine.
As an immortal with superstrength, superspeed, and mind control, I was safe walking around at night basically no matter what. But also as a woman, I remembered plenty of times where I hadn't been safe. Or where I would've been in serious trouble if I hadn't had superpowers on my side. So, on a regular basis, and even more often when I started feeling down about being a vampire, I walked around at night acting as an avenging shadow, making sure any woman I came across got home safe. Crime rates tended to drop, at least for a little while, in whatever city I lived in and various muggers realized they had a real-life, superpowered Batman going after anybody trying to hurt people in the shadows.
I ducked into a dark alleyway, and Finn followed me, still looking curious. I smiled at him, then explained what I'd been doing for the past 900 years. As I spoke, a smile appeared on his face and steadily grew to a beaming pride I hadn't seen since our first few years together.
"That is... an excellent idea," he said, still looking at me like I'd hung the moon. I smiled back.
"Thank you. I've been back here long enough that I don't think we'll find too many things to put a stop to tonight, but... what do you say we look anyway?"
Finn nodded. "I'll follow you."
I took Finn's hand and pulled him along with me down the rest of the alleyway, ducking into the nearest bar on the other side. After grabbing a few drinks and compelling a few leering men to change their behavior, we popped back out onto the street to clear the next place.
Finn and I worked like a charm together, like we'd been working as a team for the last 900 years instead of just me by myself. Although the city was fairly safe, we still found plenty of ways to make an impact, and had a blast together going from place to place too. When we finally went back home around two in the morning, we were both laughing, and I swear Finn seemed lighter than he had all week.
"Well, that was my pitch," I said, flopping backwards into bed. Another perk of vampire speed was how quickly I could get ready for bed, especially when I was this tired. "I hope you liked it."
"I did. I liked it very much."
"I'm glad." Finn laid down next to me a beat later, and I rolled over to fix him with a smile. "So, how about it, Finn. I say we ditch your mom and the rest of your siblings, like I've been doing for centuries. Live our eternity together, doing good and just being happy. What do you say? Are you with me?"
Finn sighed, his gaze roving over every inch of my face. With every second the silence stretched my stomach churned, worried I'd failed, or that I should've waited until morning to ask, or a thousand different things I should've done differently. Finally, Finn's jaw clenched and he sighed through his nose before bringing his eyes to meet mine.
"I am with you. Always and forever."
I surged forward, rapidly closing the distance between us to wrap Finn in the tightest hug imaginable. After a second he wrapped his arms around me, too, holding me against his chest. I could hear his heartbeat, steadily reminding me he was here with me, and I absolutely never wanted to let go.
"I'll call my mother in the morning," he muttered into my hair, rubbing soothing circles on my back. "Tell her I'm not going to help her. There's too much worth living for, and plenty of ways to exist without being monsters."
"And I'll call Elijah. Tell him you're officially stepping back, and to keep the drama the hell out of our life together once and for all."
Finn chuckled, the sound vibrations rumbling through his chest. With Finn officially here to stay, with me, the way we should've been a long time ago, I felt more at peace than I had in a long, long time. And I was going to make sure nothing ruined that peace, ever again.
UNCOVER
in which malachai discovers the truth of his father and mother’s history.
WARNINGS: 21st century the mikaelsons. (malachai is a teenager in this)
___
“Malachai…” Klaus gulped, eyes wide like saucers when he saw his son stumble into the room that was a violent tip.
Another argument between his brothers was only made worse by the little home truths he wished to forget.
Adrienne turned away when she saw the sight of their teenage son dealing with a range of emotions.
The teenager gulped, as he stared at his father, “You didn’t think I was yours?”
Klaus rapidly shook his head, panicked, “That’s not…”
“You didn’t want me,” Malachai breathed out, daring to spare a glance at his paternal uncles who looked dishevelled.
But blood wasn’t the only thing splattered across their faces, their guilt of knowing the truth was evident.
“Of course I wanted you,” Klaus rushed out, honesty clinging to his tone.
Malachai gritted out, “Then why did Uncle Kol say that?”
Klaus' furious gaze narrowed onto his brother who stiffened, “You can’t trust a word that he says.”
“But I can trust Mom’s face," Malachai's voice cracked, making his mother's pained expression deepen, “It’s true, isn't it? What he did to you. What he did when you were pregnant with me.”
Adrienne couldn't lie to her son, not with the tears pooling in his eyes, driving a sharp pain towards her chest. She didn't dare look at her husband or her in-laws. Even after the shock of her pregnancy and the heartbreak of its reveal, it was a feeling that never left her. She knew that Klaus loved Malachai, just as much as he loved Marcel and it was only a matter of time before the truth of that destructive night came to light.
And one bad comment from Kol did just that.
So Adrienne tried, “I promise I’ll explain.”
Malachai sniffled, “But he just said —“
“Perhaps we should leave the room," Elijah suggested.
“You’d think you would’ve already done that," Klaus sneered, glaring at everyone who wasn't his wife or youngest son.
Elijah's face hardened, “I’m trying to help.”
“You did more than that," Kol remarked, removing glass shards from his chest.
Klaus shot back, “Oh you’re one to talk, you were just as much to blame as me.”
“Brothers, not now," Elijah exacerbated, missing how Adrienne tried grabbing her son's trembling hand.
“Stop with the secrets, just tell me," Malachai snapped.
Adrienne mumbled, seeing the rage forming in his cyan eyes, “Baby, maybe we should talk about this at a different time.”
“That would be best," Klaus hastily agreed.
Malachai argued, “No.”
“Malachai," Kol sighed.
"No.” Malachai's glare grew at his uncle.
Elijah tried, “Aesir maybe —“
“Shut up!” Malachai’s yell got the attention of Rebekah, Finn, Marcel and Hadeon who all rushed into the room, stunned by what was happening. “All of you, tell me what happened all those years ago, or I swear to God I’ll leave.”
Hadeon immediately jumped in when the ground trembled and his nephew's eyes flashed, “Malachai, please calm down.”
"You’re hurting yourself," Marcel and Klaus chorused, the latter's face appeared horrified.
“I’ll tell you,” Adrienne rushed out, placing her hands on Malachai's cheeks.
Klaus's eyes pooled with tears, “Adrienne.” Malachai would think of him differently, he was sure of it. "Please."
Adrienne's lip quivered, but to stop her from deliberating, her son said, “No lies.”
His tone was as serious as his father's, so she had no choice but to repeat, “No lies.”
“Tell me what Dad did to you, to us.”
And so she did and soon they'd all live to regret it.
Klaus Mikaelson x Reader
When you get your memories back you're determined to face this enemy alone. The Mikaelsons however refuse to accept that and set out to prove your innocence to Klaus
After you'd left the Mikaelson compound you'd ended up wandering to one of the many cemeteries around New Orleans. You'd never had any business in this certain cemetery but it had drawn you there, your magic bubbling under the surface of your skin as if it was trying to lead you in the direction you needed to go in.
The barrier in your head was still very much a tangible thing and it made you question everything about yourself. You were a strong witch, you'd taken the brunt of a spell meant to rip Hope out of Hayley's womb and hadn't let a sob escape your lips regardless of the pain. You'd gone toe to toe with ancient witches and managed to still be standing yet someone was tearing your mind to shreds from the inside out.
Tumblr media
When Hayley called and asked to meet you'd gladly agreed. She hadn't spoken to you in days and you wanted her to get whatever she needed off her chest. You hoped maybe Elijah and Rebekah got her to see logic but there was only one way to find out.
You walked into Marcel's bar and Hayley sat at the bar alone. You both shared a favorite drink and two sat in front of her. When you took up a barstool leaving one between you she slid a drink down. “I believe you and Elijah” she spoke quietly.
You turned to look at her and she was facing you, the emotions in her eyes matched the ones you felt “You do?” You asked in disbelief and she nodded “I was just so hurt when we found you two. Not only because I love Elijah but because you're my best friend. It just didn't make sense no matter how much I thought it over. You've gone to literal war for my daughter. You love her the same as if she was yours. Hell you came here when I was pregnant just from me calling and asking for help. You're not the type of person to hurt someone you care about”
You blinked a few times to not let your emotions overwhelm you “Thank you. I'm still not sure what happened. Davina and Kol are on their way back and Freya is coming back too. I'm hoping with the three of us we can crack the barrier in my memories. If we can safely then that means we can get Elijah's memories back too and we'll know who did this”
She nodded slowly “What are you gonna do about Klaus?” You shrugged “You know him as well as I do. He's hurt and angry. He thinks two of the most important people in his life chose each other over him. I don't know how to make him see the truth without having my memories back, without having whoever did this on their knees begging for their lives as proof”
She reached for your arm and pulled you onto the stool next to her and wrapped an arm around your shoulders “Know that as far as you and I go? We're good. I love you, Hope loves you”
You reached into your pocket and held out the necklace you'd been carrying for days “This is for Hope. It was my grandmother's. I got the antique store to chase it down. She originally wanted my dad to give it to me one day but my mother killed him when I was so young he never got the chance. It got lost for fifty or so years. I'll never have children of my own but like you said i love her just the same. Maybe if something happens to me this will help her know just how special she is to all of us”
Hayley turned the small pendant over in her hand then looked back at you “Promise me one thing?” You nodded “Of course” she half smiled “You'll survive this to give it to her yourself” you laughed lightly and held out a hand “Deal” she shook it then said “I'm holding you to it”
Tumblr media
“I have to do what?” You asked Freya hoping you'd misheard her. “You have to lay back and let us in your mind. Davina and I will astral project in and then we break down that barrier from the inside”
You knew your eyes were probably comically large. While you trusted the two women in front of you, the idea of them being in your head, your memories freaked you out a bit. “What will you two see exactly?”
A smirk that favored Klaus slipped onto Freya's face “Don't worry darling, I'll make sure to steer clear of anything x-rated between you and Nik” Davina nodded in agreement “Our goal will be the barrier so that's where we'll land for lack of better phrasing”
Your eyes darted towards Rebekah who stood off to the side and she gave you a nod “I'll be here to watch over your bodies and wake you should it seem like things are going bad” you took a deep breath then nodded “Let's do it”
—------------------
You laid down on the couch as Freya said and closed your eyes. The weight of the barrier was making your head throb but she had told you to concentrate on nothing but that blank space in your memory.
You could hear her voice, the spell falling from her lips. You had the sudden feeling of falling, your vision bursting with white light despite your eyes being closed tightly. About the time it registered that you couldn't hear the spell anymore you felt a hand on your arm “Wake up”
You slowly opened your eyes or so you thought. Instead of the room you'd been in the walls were a pale blue, a long hall stretching in both directions. You slowly got to your feet facing Freya and Davina who both gave you a smile “concentrate. Which way do we need to go?”
You forced yourself to try to remember what had happened then a pain shot through the right side of your body. You motioned right before walking in that direction.
—-----------------
“How do we know we found it?” You asked after you'd passed probably two dozen white doors. Some held whispers of long ago, your grandmother's voice drifting through.
The farther you got down the hall different voices began to drift through the doors. You could hear Rebekah's voice the first time you'd met her long ago. Then Hayley's laughter, the shrill sound of Hope's cries when she was a newborn. Memories of the family you'd been born with and the one you chose fought for your attention.
“I think we did” Davina whispered and you looked up to see the end of the hall. The bright blue and white were replaced by a dark shadow. It seemed as if it was simply a ledge falling off into an abyss should you not turn around now.
There was something familiar about the magic behind it. You took a step forward and the moment your fingertips hit the shadow a burst went through you. Voices, leading you to the cemetery. Elijah, refusing to let you go alone.
You stumbled back and Freya caught you before you hit the floor “What was it?” You were breathless as you said “My magic did this. Someone siphoned me to use it against me, against Elijah”
She looked from you to the shadow, a dark cloud passing through her eyes “Let's rip it down and find out who”
—-----------------
Freya had already explained that once the barrier fell it would knock her and Davina out of your head and could possibly throw your body from the shock but it was worth it.
You took a step forward and felt each of them place a hand on your shoulder before you touched the barrier again. This time their power helped to focus yours. Slowly the shadow began to crack, small blossoms of light bleeding through then it was like an atomic burst. Your vision went white as you were tossed backwards.
—-------------
You gasped, sitting up where you were now on the floor. Davina, Freya and Rebekah were all standing around you with concern written on their faces “Did it work?”
Memories were blaring into your mind. The voices that led you to the cemetery, how Elijah had refused to let you go alone even when you'd promised to catch up should he want to go home to Hayley. The siphoner that was in the cemetery flashed through your head,the way she begged your forgiveness citing she had no choice then the person behind it all “I thought that bitch was long dead. Explains how someone could use my magic against me”
You hadn't realized you'd been rambling until Rebekah questioned who. You pushed yourself to your feet, meeting their eyes one by one “My mother”
Rebekah's eyes were wide, “What now?” You wiped your hands down your jeans feeling the dirt there from your memories, how you'd fought against the siphoner and how you'd tried to shield Elijah from the magic.
You faced Rebekah and gave her a small smile “I'm going to go give Elijah his memories back then I'm going to go find my bitch of a mother and turn her inside out. Good news is this is no threat against your family or Hope. That bitch just wants me dead, she has for about two hundred years give or take”
“If it's a threat against you it is against family” Rebekah argued but you shook your head, already determined to do this alone. “I can do this alone” “But you don't have to” Freya pushed and you shook your head again “I need to go see Elijah. The faster he has his memories back the better”
You started to walk out then stopped to face the three women “Thank you for helping me” then looked at the two blondes “Klaus doesn't need to know what I'm doing or who I'm against. Not until either I kill her or we kill each other” “So lie to him?” Rebekah asked and you shrugged “Not lying if he doesn't care to ask” and with that you walked out. You knew who you were up against now, you could make a plan and even better you now knew how to free Elijah's memories as well.
You were going to enjoy seeing her on her knees begging for mercy that would never come. She'd tried to destroy you. She almost cost your friendship with Hayley and Elijah and ripped the man you loved away from you. She'd pay for it all and you'd make sure she wouldn't be capable of being a threat ever again.
Tumblr media
“What does he need to do?” Hayley asked after you'd explained how you could get Elijah his memories back. You motioned to the couch “Preferably lay down and I'll sit on the floor in front of the couch because if what happened with me is any indication I ended up on the floor”
She glanced towards the stairs and you knew it was because Hope was asleep having just laid down for a nap about ten minutes before you called. “It shouldn't be loud enough to wake her but with her witch side that alone may stir her”
She shared a look with Elijah and he nodded before walking over to lay down on the couch. You gave her a slight smile then walked over to the couch and kneeled down next to it facing Elijah. “Close your eyes and just trust me ok?” “Of course” was the reply he gave before he closed his eyes. You glanced back at Hayley “Just stand back in case it tosses me” she nodded, taking another step backwards.
You reached up to place the first two fingers of each hand on Elijah's temples then closed your eyes as well. Now that you knew what you were looking for, that it was your magic, this process should be easier on him than it was on you.
You didn't even have to fall into his mind. You could feel the barrier the moment you concentrated and focused on it. A slight burst happened as you fell backwards and Elijah sat up straight.
He took a deep breath, staring at you with wide eyes. “Do you remember everything now?” He nodded and you smiled “Good”
You got to your feet and nodded to Hayley “We both remember now” she started to take a step towards you but Hope's voice cut through calling for her mom. You looked at the stairs and Hayley smiled “You should go up. She misses you” you shook your head despite your heart aching to see the child that you'd fought for. “If something happens to me her last memory is the day I took her to the park, we made Klaus go on the slide with her and then we got her ice cream. I don't want her last memory of me being a quick hello then me leaving”
“What do you mean?” Hayley asked but Elijah answered for you “Her mother has been hunting her for years. She killed her father when she was young and means to kill her but not before stealing her magic for herself” you tilted your head towards him before saying “And if she wants it then I plan to make her come and get it herself. No siphoner and no one else being pulled into the crosshairs this is me and her”
“You can't mean to face her alone! She got inside your head and Elijah's! She's strong” Hayley argued but before you could respond Hope called out again. You looked towards the stairs then back at Hayley “Go to Hope. I promise you i will do everything I can to make it back”
—--------------
You watched Hayley walk to the stairs and started to walk out the house when Elijah called your name. You stood with your hand on the doorknob and looked back at him “You're not telling Niklaus and plan to ward it where Freya and Davina can't get into the cemetery to assist you” it wasn't a question but a statement. You hadn't realized he'd seen that while your mind was connected to him.
“I can't let anyone else I care about be hurt by her. She almost destroyed your relationship with Hayley, my friendship with Hayley and she may have ruined my relationship with Klaus. Please Elijah, let me do this my way”
He shook his head  “You are a part of this family. None of us want to lose you. We simply need to make Niklaus see the truth”
You glanced towards the stairs knowing if you saw Hope you'd lose any resolve you were holding onto to face this alone “Please Elijah. I've got to go” he let out a breath that was more of a sigh “When you find her you let us help you” you knew he could very well stop you from leaving if he wanted so you nodded “Deal”
Tumblr media
Elijah knew you well enough to know when you were lying. He was on his feet by the time Hayley made it downstairs with Hope on her hip. “Where did she go?” She asked and he held her gaze, knowing she could see the answer in his eyes “I'm going to find Freya and Rebekah. I'll let you know how it goes” he kissed her on the lips, the first one they'd shared in days then left a kiss on Hope's forehead.
—---------------
Klaus was in his art studio, a half drank bottle of top shelf bourbon sat in front of him as he stared at the canvas you and Hope had painted so long ago. Flowers and butterflies decorated the pink background. It stood out amongst his work, brightness in all the darkness.
His heart ached to see you, transgressions he could forgive. Had it been anyone other than his brother he would've simply killed them and that would've been that.
He leaned his head back against the couch about the time he heard the front door slam open followed by all four of his siblings screaming variations of his name.  He downed the rest of the bourbon that was in his glass before standing. If Rebekah and Elijah had summoned Kol and Freya back to New Orleans this must be their stand against him.
—------------
Elijah stood at the base of the stairs with Kol standing next to him and both men were flanked by Rebekah and Freya. “Dear brother, come to relish in your conquest of stealing my little witch?”
Before Elijah could open his mouth Kol shook his head “Come off it Nik. That girl loves you. She's went to hell and back for this family, for your daughter” Klaus spun to meet Kol “Don't tell me you plan to have her next”
Rebekah looked at Freya “Just show him! It's the only way to shut him up and prove to him that he's in the wrong”
Klaus narrowed his eyes at his older sister “Come to play have we?” She shook her head “No. I came home to help her. She figured out who's after her but you're not going to believe words. You'll believe seeing the memories yourself” before he could ask she touched two fingers to his temple and two to Elijah's.
His vision went white then Klaus was on the sidewalk, seeing you and Elijah walk out of the antique shop. You tucked a small velvet bag into your purse then slipped your arm back through Elijah's before he nodded at your purse  “That's going to mean a lot to Hayley and Niklaus both” you smiled “I hope they like it. It's taken me about seventy years to chase it down”
The two of you walked past him and he cursed Freya for trapping him in this vision but then you doubled over in pain. He moved on instinct alone to grab you but of course he couldn't. Elijah helped to steady you and Klaus could see the worry on his brother's face “Perhaps you and Hayley should go out on a different night?”
You straightened up and he knew instantly something was wrong. Your eyes weren't focused on Elijah or the people milling around the two of you “Go home Elijah, I'll catch up” you muttered pulling away from Elijah as you turned and started walking towards one of the many cemeteries around New Orleans.
“Where are you going?” Elijah questioned falling in step behind you. Klaus followed the two of you into the gates of the cemetery and felt something was off right before you hit your knees again. Elijah yelled your name but when you looked up at him your eyes weren't their usual hue but a milky white “Elijah, it hurts” the broken sound of your voice twisted his heart then he heard another voice.
A woman walked into his view, she had a scar across her face and nothing but hate in her eyes as she looked at you. He saw pain ripple through Elijah holding him in place as the woman walked over to where you were on your knees and grabbed your hair roughly “My dear daughter. It's taken me so long to track you down and away from your hybrid too. Now how should I ensure your hybrid removes his protection from you? ”
You whimpered slightly both from pain and being helpless. He could feel his anger boiling inside of him watching you be abused. You were his strong little witch, able to withstand so much yet this woman had you immobile on your knees. Elijah managed to choke out your name and to ask who the woman was. “My mother” your voice was barely a whisper.
—-----------
The vision shifted again and this time you and Elijah were walking into the compound but neither of you were speaking and your movements were robotic almost. He watched the two of you walk up the stairs and didn't need to follow to know the truth. Your mother had done this, the milky white of your eyes meant she'd had a siphoner. The way you and Elijah were acting as if you were simply puppets. He'd let someone hurt his little witch and his brother and allowed his own insecurities and pride to come before two of the most important people to him.
Klaus stumbled back from Freya feeling tears stinging his eyes and an anger boiling deep inside of him. “Where is she?” He asked, looking between his siblings. He needed to see you, beg forgiveness and hope you have it in your heart to give it to him. All this time he'd thought you'd betrayed him while he was in fact the one that betrayed you.
“She's gone off to find her mother and face her alone. She feels she isn't part of this family and therefore not worth us fighting for” Freya answered and he shook his head “Spread out and find her. Her mother doesn't make it out of New Orleans”
message in a bottle - h.m.
a/n: hello hello!! i'm currently working on all the requests in my inbox and this one is so cute!! i love writing cute little fluffy romantic stories <3 i hope y'all like them!!
warnings: none :)
Tumblr media
hope's yearly trip to new orleans to visit her family was always something she looked forward to. as much as she loved living in mystic falls and being surrounded by close friends, she always yearned for the part of her that was missing.
however, there had been some major changes in her life since the last time she visited new orleans.
she had fallen deeply for someone that it would be difficult to leave, even for a little while.
y/n was absolutely thrilled that her girlfriend got to visit her family. she knows how close they are and how little they got to see each other in person.
however, she knows it won't be easy to go without seeing hope for a full week. to say the couple is attached at the hip would be an understatement.
y/n's first day without hope was full of distraction. she did every activity she could, desperately trying to avoid feeling hope's absence.
hope's drive to new orleans was uneventful, except for her attempts to zone out and pretend y/n was in the passenger seat.
when hope finally arrives and greets her family, she immediately feels empty without y/n's presence. she brushes it off, trying to reconnect with her parents and aunts.
while in the middle of a conversation with klaus, a text pops up on hope's phone.
hey, love. i miss you. how is it in new orleans?
hope smiles as soon as she realizes the text is from y/n.
"what's the smile for, darling?" klaus questions, seeing that hope is profusely blushing as she types a response.
"just a funny text from a friend," she responds, trying to control her excitement about hearing from y/n.
hope hadn't told her family that her and y/n were dating. it wasn't that she didn't want to, but she just didn't feel ready. she didn't want her visit to only be focused on her love life, especially because her dating a girl might be a surprise.
klaus dismisses the subject, but hope can tell he's suspicious. she silently curses her tendency to blush.
so far so good. miss you more. can i call you later? wanna hear your voice.
hope finally sends her response to y/n, unable to hold back another smile.
rebekah had prepared an extravagant meal for hope's arrival, and hope thought it was entirely overkill.
nonetheless, she was grateful, and she sat at the table surrounded by klaus, hayley, freya, rebekah, marcel, kol, and elijah.
the group effortlessly falls into conversation as if they had never been apart, sharing laughs and stories.
hope debates telling them about y/n, but stops herself, wanting to properly introduce them to her when the time comes.
when hope finishes her plate, she's quick to excuse herself to her room. she insists that she's tired from the travel, although her overly happy demeanor suggests otherwise.
as soon as she closes the door behind her, she dials y/n's number.
"hey, darling," y/n's voice sounds velvety through the receiver, and hope can't help but to kick her feet a bit in her bed.
"hi, beautiful. how was your day?"
"it was okay. it would have been so much better with you. how's your family?"
"loud, but good so far," hope laughs, hearing y/n's giggle from the other end of the line.
"i can't believe it hasn't even been a whole day yet. i miss you like crazy."
"you're just obsessed with me, aren't you?" hope teases, giggling at y/n's affection.
"guilty as charged."
as the group continues to talk in the kitchen down the hall, they can't help but to tune into hope's conversation.
they blame their enhanced sense of hearing, but their interests are all piqued by the romantic nature of hope and y/n's conversation.
"that sounds a bit more than friendly," freya breaks the silence, smirking knowingly.
"you would know, wouldn't you?" rebekah teases, and the table erupts in laughter.
"should we say something?" marcel questions, almost feeling guilty for continuing to listen.
"she'll tell us on her own time, right?" hayley adds, trying to relieve marcel's guilt.
like clockwork, hope walks down the hall, having just ended her call with y/n.
"guys, can i tell you something?"
the group all nods in unison, already sure they know what hope is going to say.
"i have a girlfriend."
"it seems you've forgotten we all have vampire hearing, love," klaus responds, earning a dirty look from hayley. "what! it's true!"
hope turns a deep shade of red, realizing that her entire family had heard her flirt with her girlfriend over the phone.
after a few seconds of silence, the entire mikaelson family burts into laughter, as if they were all aware of the awkwardness of the situation.
"love you, hope," elijah smiles, giving hope an encouraging pat on her back.
"love you too."
Derek Hale x Reader : Hale and Mikaelson.
(part 1)
guess this is gonna be a series.
Tumblr media
Derek Hale x Reader ( fem!mikaelson, Elijah's daughter)
Part 1! ~
Being an Original's daughter, and a witch with little control on powers had a lot of perks, so it was no surprise that Y/N Mikaelson, the miracle child of Elijah Mikaelson had to be under strict observation of her father and huge af family, especially her Hybrid uncle, Nik.
Y/N came into existence due to a procreation spell done on her mother, the love of Elijah's life, who had died at childbirth.
If anything that she inherited from her mother, was her witch powers ( a lil bit from her grandma Esther too lol ) and sense of humor ( well, her Uncle Kol says she has the humor from him) and rest is all from her father ( expect sense of fashion, thankfully. Who the heck wears suits in the summer heat?)
Elijah taught her values and virtues and literature, Klaus taught her art and how to kick someone's ass, Freya did her best to help with magic, Kol would often help her pull pranks, sneak around and have her share of fun, Rebekah would doll her up in the latest fashion and Marcel helped her to get relief from the family drama.
Beacon Hills. It's where her father decided to keep her safe. Throughout their existence, the Originals have made numerous enemies. And he couldn't afford to lose his child, his baby, to them.
And she fell in love.
With none other than her father's old ally, Talia Hale's son, the current Alpha of the renowned wolf family, Derek Samuel Hale.
Elijah, for the first time had found her interested in something other than books, music and magic, so was lenient in letting her meet him and letting him court her (much to Klaus's annoyance and possessiveness) .
But he absolutely hated it when his little one would sneak out and run into dangers just to help the pack. He couldn't stop her though, because she was fiercely loyal and stubborn and knew how to save herself.
Elijah knew Derek's the one for his princess, for his young one. His ample knowledge on the supernatural had told him his daughter and Derek had been destined to be together.
She had triggered her magic in the Beacon Hills preserve, while playing with Derek, as a child and one look of Talia had told him everything.
Derek Hale is her trigger and anchor, both.
She gained control on her magic while helping the werewolf in a faceoff with Gerard Argent, the one whom all the supernaturals loathe.
Elijah had to leave this daughter back in BH, for the safety and run to NOLA for handling his family's stupidity, warning her ( read literally pleading her ) to not get in trouble.
But things are never normal in Beacon Hills too.
That f*cking protection broke and here she is, pregnant. At 21, thankfully ( or her father and uncles would have straight ripped out Derek's heart, instead of going for a slightly less painful way)
" Derek Samuel Hale, istg, am gonna castrate you and then kill (pls, their baby is not going to grow up without their father.)"
" Calm down, sweetheart! We'll go through this together."
" Don't sweetheart me, Derek! We're going to be parents fgs!"
" I love you, and I love our child too."
" I know and I love you too, Der, but am scared."
" Our child had the Mikaelson-Hale gene. And we won't let anything happen to our child. Come here."
Later, they both visited the hospital for a checkup, completely unaware that they were being watched upon.
" Y/N, love, I think we owe an explanation of your presence at the hospital earlier today with your boyfriend."
Shoot. Her whole family.
Klaus's voice boomed in the house as soon as Y/N had stepped in, followed by Derek, who immediately felt he is in front of the hungry lion lions.
Elijah, Klaus, Kol, Marcel.
Guess he won't live to see the next day.
" What's wrong, princess? Are you sick?" Elijah asked worried and panicked, walking toward her.
" Uhm..ermm..."
Derek didn't know from were he got the courage, but he did.
Softly taking his girl's fingers in his, he said, as calmly as he could, "We're expecting a child. Y/N's pregnant."
The room was silent until Derek was shoved against the wall both by Elijah and Klaus.
"Dad! Uncle Nik!" Y/N cried out, dread and panic filling her face, as Kol hugged her, to calm her.
"Leave him, Dad!"
Kol humored, " It takes two to have a baby, brothers."
Klaus and Elijah's glare shut him up though.
"Dad, leave Derek please!"
Derek was coughing due to the choking.
All of a sudden, Elijah loosened his grip and started laughing.
Marcel rolled his eyes, " The news has sent him into a shock I think."
"Brother?"
"Dad?"
" Mr. Mikaelson?"
Rest were left shocked.
PART TWO?
sometime later if there's response on this one, (joking lol).
kol mikaelson; give me love.
“maybe i should let you go. no, i just wanna hold you.”
a/n: this is literally 11.2k words god help me
Tumblr media
in the year that your life had been plagued by supernatural existence, you had never once thought you'd find yourself, here, curled in bed with a throbbing headache, and thirst for hunger as vile as this. you never thought you'd find yourself dead, with vampires blood circulating through your dwindling system.
you could feel it pulsating through your veins, feel it ripening your shriveling heart. it pumped so oddly; you kept pressing your fingers to various pressure points, wondering where your pulse was. it was mute; yet you could feel your heart circulating the mouthful of vampires blood tirelessly.
so that's how you were to live now, off of other peoples blood. being as stubbornly independent as you were, you couldn't say that you were too pleased.
it had all started with a promise: a promise from caroline, to actually take the weekend off from growing crow's feet due to supernatural stress and instead go to the mall. but, first, she told you, she had to take care of some conflict with elena, stefan, damon, and a mansion full of the worlds oldest vampires. elena and stefan had also promised klaus that damon would stop trying to kill his family.
but, when you were out for your morning walk through the mystic falls public park, you were snatched out of your shoes by one of the originals, who'd been called on by klaus to ensure the security of damon's promise.
however, instead of just pulling back, damon pushed. he showed up to the mikaelson's mansion with five white oak stakes- consequently burned in the fireplace after they chained him up, tortured him, and forced him to watch as kol turned you.
you remember the heat of his hands, gripping you against his chest, over your waist and at your throat. your left eye was bruised, cheekbone probably broken. blood was seeping from a cut on your lip, one you couldn't stop running your tongue over with stress. and your head was pounding.
then, you heard the sick crunch of teeth in flesh as kol opened his skin to you. he pressed his wrist between your lips and, unwillingly, you swallowed a few drops of his blood. kol held you tighter while his other arm was occupied. then, just as your injuries started to fade, as the pain began dissipating, kol pulled your head back by a clump of your hair. he spoke to damon, while staring darkly down at you.
"she'll be a pretty one," he wiped his thumb across your bottom lip, cleaning off his blood, only to slide his hands up around your neck.
your eyes widened, the fear in your stomach sending off the alarm systems through your body. time stopped as he squeezed your throat, and, holding visicous eye contact, he snapped your neck.
now, you were laying in your bed, having just awoken from death. you curled your legs up to your chest, squeezing them against you, as if you could find reality if you grounded yourself. as if this was all just a cruel dream.
though you knew that was impossible- every single one of your sensations was on fire. the cotton of your bedding against your arms felt incredibly soft, softer than you'd ever thought it was. you could hear caroline's breath, though she was sitting five feet away from you. you could hear the rumination of her hair against her neck, each and every time she turned her head. she was flipping through a magazine and, that, combined with bits of sunlight seeping into your room, was driving you crazy.
"care," you hissed as she turned another page.
caroline's eyes shot up to meet yours, and a sheepish expression caught her face. "sorry."
stefan, taking up the corner of your room with a frowned face, shifted. "are you ready to talk about it?"
this was the fifth time in the past hour that you'd been awakened from the dead that he'd asked you this very same question. you shrugged, pulling yourself up against the headboard.
"not really," you whispered, knowing if you spoke any louder, you'd burst into tears. you never really let yourself cry in front of your friends, but you didn't know if you could help it this time.
you glanced around the room, at the ordinary objects from your humanity. your picture frames, decorating the bookshelf and dresser, felt like poison in your eye sight. you didn't even know if vampires could be in pictures. so there went your hobby of ruthlessly insisting your friends take pictures every time you did anything together.
who needed a picture to remember anything, anyways, when your memory would never fade?
it was like a cruel trick on you.
you swiped at a tear, and sniffled to regain composure when you noticed your cat's play tower was empty. "where's crow?"
stefan stepped closer, and he took a seat on the edge of the mattress. "we took him to matt's house. he's going to take care of him until you're in control."
"and if i choose to die?" your voice croaked at the word, "will you guys take care of him, then?"
caroline jumped from her seat, pushing herself onto the mattress directly beside you. "of course we would."
you sighed, "i think i know my decision. but, i don't know if i'm ready for it to happen. i don't think- i can't stomach it."
stefan nodded sympathetically. "we have blood bags. elena's willing to let you feed, too. she feels awful about the situation."
you met his eyes, "does it taste- bad?"
caroline chuckled, and stefan looked to her to speak. "funnily enough, it tastes, like, really good. i mean, you won't be hungry for anything else, ever. so it tastes like survival and life."
stefan agreed with a hum, "we need it to survive. to live. it pumps our heart. so even though it will feel wrong for the first week or so, eventually it'll become normal. ordinary."
you took a deep, shaky breath. "can i have a straw?"
you plopped to the dirty ground of the forest, your knees sinking into the crust. you breathed heavily, though the usual burning of your lungs you'd feel after running for so long dissipated quicker than it came. you lay a hand to your chest, feeling the strength of your lungs. your heart beat sped up, too, enhanced by the strength that came from feeding.
you wanted both options you were given, one from stefan, the other from
damon. you wanted to feed off blood bags as little as possible. as a human, you'd had an addictive personality. you could only guess that would carry over, only enhanced, in death.
so you wanted to be as in control as possible. and you figured a split diet would help.
it had been two weeks since you turned. you felt stronger everyday. tomorrow, your cat would come home. you felt stable enough, especially since you'd been practicing holding him without baring teeth.
you mourned your old life everyday. but, having had no real attachments as a human, it was an easier transition. you and your mother were never close, so she accepted whatever excuses you had for never eating or sneaking out late. she didn't really care anyways.
but, a part of you felt something missing.
you couldn't tell what it was.
but, one week ago you'd had a dream about a familiar, murderous vamp.
you'd felt his touch in your sleep- his hands on your throat, around your waist. you woke up in a cold sweat, the skin where his touch had been on fire.
you kept it to yourself, knowing the response from the peanut gallery would be negative. they'd probably storm the mikaelson mansion, threaten kol to stop manipulating your dreams.
that had to be the only explanation- that he was manipulating your dreams. you thought he was attractive- but never, ever, in a million years would you let yourself dream about him.
stefan squatted beside you, offering a clean handkerchief. he pointed on his chin to where you had blood pooling. you smiled breathily, a short chuckle, and sheepishly wiped it away.
"you did good today," stefan complimented.
you nodded, "thanks. i still feel dead, but i feel a little stronger, more secure, every time."
"that's good," stefan encouraged. "each time you feed, as long as it's consistent, you'll feel that way."
you hesitated, afraid to voice your opinion in fear of sounding selfish. stefan tilted his head at you because he knew there were words on the tip of your tongue. you shut your mouth and shook your head, brushing off your sadness.
stefan set a hand on your shoulder, squeezing gently, supportively, "we'll get him. damon's finding more ash- and i want you to use the dagger."
a rush of adrenaline came over you. you shoved stefan's hand off your shoulder, "i don't want that, stefan. i don't want more death. can't we just leave each other alone? why does there always have to be revenge?"
stefan looked jolted by your defensive statement, faltering on his heels from your strength. you pushed up onto the balls of your feet, shouldering your backpack.
"look, do whatever you guys want, but leave me out of it," you raised your brows firmly. "i don't think anybody else needs to die."
stefan was more than shocked by this proclamation. he slowly stood, watched as you turned on your heel and sped away to your car. he could tell you were angered by any ideas of conflict. he knew as a human you had always been peaceful: you always went out of your way to make sure everyone and everything was okay. and you were always against any revenge plans. though you were never this vocal about it. maybe that’s what that outburst was- your want for peace.
but something felt off.
you slammed your car door shut, which made you flinch back in your seat. you pressed a hand to your chest, again, surprised by your strength, by the hammering of your heart. you took deep, whole breaths, feeling every part of your lungs expand and contract with every gasp and release. caroline had taught you this trick- ground yourself. anger made you hungrier, deadlier. and you weren't in the habit of killing anybody out of hanger. hopefully for forever.
why had you been so pissed?
you should be rooting for revenge against kol. you should be plotting maps and finding ash and storming his mansion.
but something within your gut denied any and all troubles.
you just couldn't get behind the idea.
something else caroline taught you was to focus on what made you feel good. in times like this, when anger took ahold and wouldn't let go, you needed to anchor yourself to what being alive was like. fake it till you make it.
so, you turned your radio up as loud as it would go, stepped on the gas, and drove. you let your mind shut off as you drove, twisting through back streets, laughing loudly as the car jumped over hills. for the first time in weeks, you felt normal. like an ordinary teenaged girl, putting your life at risk to feel the adrenaline of curving around bends and barely stopping at stop signs.
you didn't know you were going- but you had reached a dead end. the only way to go was back, or into the driveway before you. you recognized the stone-lined path, reaching far back into the tree line. you could see the windows of the house through tree branches.
how did you end up here?
the car inched towards the house, stopping just before the driveway curved into a circle around the water fountain. you stepped on the brakes, threw the gear shift into reverse, and slowly let your foot release. however, the car still inched forewords, the wheel turning towards right. you looked down at the gear shift and saw it in drive.
what the fuck was going on?
you threw it into park again, slamming so hard you whipped against the back of the seat. next thing you knew, your keys were in your hand, you were opening the door, stepping out of the car. you snapped out of whatever trance you were in. you glanced around, horrified.
"what in the world?!" you murmured to yourself. you turned back to the car and reached for the door handle.
"i was wondering how long it would take until you showed up, darling," a voice sounded directly beside your left shoulder.
you jumped against your car, fear sinking into your skin. kol towered over you, hands crossed delicately behind his back. his face held that familiar smirk, head tilted to the side with dark anticipation.
you shivered, crossing your arms around your stomach. "wha-what?"
kol stepped closer, forcing your chin further into the air as he hovered. "have you finally come to put a dagger in my chest? i'd have to waited until the sun went down, or brought myself one of those salvatore's. it's a little bold to come alone."
you shook your head, the wind blowing your hair in a mess around your face. you furiously brushed it behind your ears again, to no avail. "n-no. i didn't mean- i didn't mean to be here. i- i'm- i should go. i'm gonna go."
when you finished stuttering out your ill-thought-out response, you spun on your heel and stuck the key into the lock. you went to turn it to unlock it when you heard a gust of wind and felt his presence move beside you.
"aw, don't go. we were just starting to have fun," he sarcastically spoke.
you pulled the key out of the car, your hand dangling beside you. you didn't know what to say; but you wanted to stay now. you were intrigued by the dark look in his eyes, the scent of his smokey cologne.
"okay."
kol- usually locked in to his smirk and raised eyebrow duo- hesitated at your response. his face flickered with confusion, but he regained his stone cold composure and held out a hand.
"would you like to come in for a drink? i think i owe you that," he offered.
you shrugged, crossing your arms again. "sure."
you fell into step behind kol, following him into the mikaelson's mansion. you looked around warily as you stepped inside the house. kol took your purse from your shoulder- though you didn't remember how it got there- and hung it on the coat hook.
"is it going to be a real drink?" you grasped at a joke, feeling the tense, awkward air between you.
kol cracked that smirk, "well that depends. are you on the stefan diet? or are they feeding you well over there?"
you let yourself laugh, "both, actually."
kol guided you to the living room, where you sat on the couch. he moved to a bar cart, filling two crystal glasses with blood from a bag.
he tsked, "but that's boring. i thought id make another ripper out of you. well: have you at least drank from the neck? taken your first kill?"
you took the glass he offered you, replying as he sat, "no."
kol scoffed, "well, that won't do. every vampire kills at least ten people in their first week. it's been, what, three weeks, now?"
you took a sip from your glass, and you felt your fangs protrude from your teeth. you winced at the pain in your mouth and swallowed the blood. you touched the veins in your cheeks.
kol watched you as you gained control of your hunger. he looked concerned, though you didn't notice.
kol dipped his head down to catch your attention. "do you feel it? the hunger? you must know every time you drink from an animal or a bag that you're missing something? of course, we must do these things for security. but, we have to drink from the vein from time to time. the other options are just not enough to curb that."
you felt a hunger flood through your body. your fangs protruded again, the veins under your eyes rippling your skin. you quickly downed the rest of your drink, but the hunger didn't cease.
kol's arm had rested on the back of the couch, and he moved his thumb to touch the tilt of your chin. "let me take you out sometime. i'll show you how to really hunt. you have to be dangerous sometimes- it's just our nature."
an emotion rushed through your body- a warm feeling. you turned your head to meet his eyes, "i don't want to do that. i don't want to kill anybody."
kol flashed his dark eyes at you, "oh, but you will."
you refused to share your visit to kol with any of your friends. you knew stefan wouldn't approve of his urge to drink from the vein; caroline would be pissed you went inside the house; and damon would examine it for any ulterior movies. you especially weren't going to tell them that you'd be going hunting with kol in the future. you didn't really want to; but you had to go. something in you was pushing you to give in. to just do it.
but you feared they'd find out. either rebekah- whom kol told everything- would use your newfound companionship as a banter against your friends. or klaus would use it as a threat.
or you'd exploit your conversation by accidentally killing somebody. it was silly, but everyone knew it was true- you weren’t a killer, even as a vampire. it just simply wasn’t going to happen.
you kept resisting the urge- but throughout the school day you couldn't stop staring at people's necks. you wanted to pounce on someone in the hallway, wanted to sink your teeth into their skin and bleed them dry. you'd never felt this urge before- or at least stefan and caroline had helped you fight through it.
you wanted to confide in them, but something told you you weren't allowed to share the thought. so you fought it alone.
after school, you raced home, curled up under your covers, and shut out the world. you had to go to work later, and you wanted to call off, but you couldn't give up the normal parts of your life. you couldn't let the vampirism ruin your ordinary.
by the time it was time for work, you'd managed to curb your hunger. you arrived a few minutes before your shift started at the mystic grille, where you waited tables. you opened your locker, pulling from it your apron and notepad. you tied it securely around your waist.
the door to the break room swung open and your coworker, georgia, bid you hello. you smiled back at her. but as you turned to say hello back, you felt your teeth expand and the blood rush through your eyes. you went hot with hunger, and you slammed your upper body into your locker.
georgia flinched, "are you okay?"
you heard her take a step forward, so you held out your hand, "no! stay- stay away! go away from me!"
georgia, helpful by nature, stepped closer to you. she set a hand on your shoulder, "y/n, what's wrong?"
as soon as you felt her warm hand on your shoulder, you snapped. you slammed her up against the locker, baring your teeth at her. "i said stay away! i can't control it!"
georgia yelped in response, the fear in her eyes blowing up her pupils. "i'm sorry! i'm so sorry- please don't hurt me!"
you growled at her, eyes raking down her face to her exposed neck. of course she wore her hair in a ponytail today.
you wanted to turn away; you had learned all the necessary skills to gain control. but something in your body, in your mind- it screamed at you to feed. you pounced on her, sinking your teeth into her skin, and beginning to suck her dry.
when she went limp in your arms, when you felt no more blood flowing out of the punctured holes in her neck, that's when you snapped back to reality. you dropped her body, screaming at the sight of blood soaking her shirt, soaking your hands.
you turned to the side, wiping your hands on your apron, away from her body, and you caught your appearance in the mirror in your locker. you were sobbing, the tears streaking through the blood covering your mouth.
you grabbed your coat and purse and, without thinking any further, you sped out of the grille. of course, just when you stepped out the front door, you ran into caroline. she was walking with tyler, laughing at something he'd said. when she knocked into you, she steadied you by grabbing your forearms. then she noticed the blood- all of the blood.
caroline and tyler had an understanding, established with just the flicker of eye contact they made. caroline sped you two out of there, to the boarding house, within seconds. tyler went to, probably, clean up your mess.
as soon as she opened the door to the house, you pulled from her, and fell to your knees. you sobbed into your hands, though the blood left on them made the hunger creep back up again. caroline leaned down beside you, wrapping her arms around your shoulders.
"it's okay, y/n," she soothed, "shhhh, it's okay."
you wanted to give in to her comfort, but you pushed back, your force so strong that you ended up with your back against the wall.
"no!" you growled again. "no! i killed somebody, caroline! i killed her! oh, my god, i killed her!"
you slid down the wall, sobbing into your hands. stefan, damon, and elena entered the room, taking in the sad sight of you. you smelled the blood on your hands, and the hunger overtook you. through the tears crowding your face, you licked a single line down your forearm.
"i'm so hungry," you murmured, continuing to lick at the drying blood on your hands.
stefan took control of the situation as caroline came up short. she couldn't think straight, seeing you like you were.
he stooped down in front of you, laying a cautious hand into the air between you. "hey, y/n, hey- it's okay. hey, here, take my hand. cmon, let's go get something to eat."
you roared at him, causing him to flinch back, "i don't want another deer, stefan! i'm hungry!"
damon appeared beside him, holding a blood bag delicately between his hands. he offered it to you, a sad smile on his face. "i never much cared for the vegetarian lifestyle, either, y/n. there's nothing to be ashamed of."
you took the blood bag from him, only to throw it across the room. it splatted against the wall, sliding in cruel fingers down the wall. elena flinched at this, holding securely to her necklace.
you shot up from your spot, standing like a rock against your friends. "it's not enough! it's not enough, damon! i'm hungry!"
your tantrum lasted another hour, in which you nearly attacked elena, threw stefan into the billiard table, and stabbed damon with a broken leg from the coffee table.
caroline had snuck away in time to call bonnie, who arrived just in time to cause an aneurysm in your head. you fell to your knees in pain, which worsened as damon stuck a needle full of vervain into your leg. you passed out on the rug of the entryway, and woke up on the basement, locked away.
you curled up in the corner, leaning against the cool brick of the wall. your head was pounding, and your veins were cramping with hunger. you could smell stefan's cologne, bonnie's blood on the other side of the wall.
"what's going on?" you whimpered, brushing the dirty hair from your face.
bonnie's face appeared in the frame of the door. "y/n?"
you stood up shakily, slowly walking up to the door. everything hurt. probably the vervain. or the hunger.
you leaned against the door. bonnie smiled at you, though it was downcast, and her eyes were watery. "what's going on?"
she sighed, "we don't know. i've been looking through my grimoires for days. alarics doing research. we don't know."
"wait," you perked up at her word choice, "days?"
"yeah you keep going in and out of it," bonnie shrugged.
stefan appeared beside her, "we've tried to feed you a blood bag or blood from an animal, but you won't take it down. it doesn't even make your teeth come out. you keep saying it's not enough."
"so you lock me up?" you laughed shakily.
stefan nodded, setting his hands on his hips. "yeah. but, we're going to take you out now. we're gonna let you feed off of somebody. make sure you don't kill them. then, we're going to see klaus."
you furrowed your brows, "why?"
bonnie shrugged, "he's the oldest vampire ever. he might have some answers."
they held true to their promise. they let you feed off matt and, as you did, you began to bleed him dry. stefan and damon managed to hold you back- and you kept it down. you felt the hunger creep up your skin, but you managed to shove it down. you kept control. it wasn’t as bad.
with an apology to matt and a rag to clean your lips, you headed to the mikaelson mansion for the second time that week. you wondered if you should tell them about your interaction with kol, but you decided against it. they'd blow it out of proportion.
but, you couldn't stop thinking about how he told you that the blood bags and animals would never be enough; how you'd have to kill.
and how, ever since that moment, those words had been defined every action you’d taken that week.
klaus welcomed the three of you inside with a sardonic, "ah, back with more questions. i'll try not to remember this next time you shove a dagger in my heart."
stefan smiled sarcastically, as you three followed him into his painting room. klaus had been brushing paint across a canvas, and he went back to that as you three stood before him.
stefan, always the spokesperson, began, "she can't keep anything down. not the blood bags or the animals i've hunted. the only thing she drinks is blood when it's straight from the vein. it’s just started, though. she'd been extremely disciplined, and now she's turned murderous. she doesn't want to kill anybody, and that characteristic has been enhanced by her vampirism now. so, we don’t understand why it’s turned into this.”
klaus chuckled, "stefan, we vampires have to kill..."
you weren't listening. at first, you simply circled the room, admiring the paintings. then, as you rounded back to the open door of the room, you felt a tug in your chest, similar to the one from the other day, when you'd accidentally driven here.
you snuck out of the room, their voices fading behind you as you descended the staircase. you'd never been here before- but you knew where you were going. you walked past every door and only stopped outside the one at the end of the farthest hallway.
your hand reached for the doorknob, but you snapped out of your trance before you could turn it. the urge took over again, though, and you resigned to knocking.
"come in!" you heard that familiar tone, though it was much more casual than normal.
you did as he asked, stepping into the room as the door swung open. you were jarred by his state- instead of his usual jeans and jacket combo, kol was laying casually in his bed, pajama bottoms adorning his lower half, and a hoodie on his upper. his hair was messy, swinging in front of his forehead.
he had his arms crossed behind his head. you eyes raked across them, across the veins in his hands. you thought back to a few weeks ago, when he’d turned you. when he’d held you flush against his chest with those hands-
your heart skipped a beat as he looked from the television, to you. he had started to say, "beks-! i've just discovered a genre of movies called-"
he met your eyes, and stopped dead in his sentence. kol sat up out of bed, confusion lacing his features. he was too taken back to have anything witty to say, so he just said, "hello, darling."
you took a deep breath, your brows furrowing as it released from your lungs, "i killed somebody."
the part of kol was that murderous, the part that reveled in sucking humans dry of their blood, wanted to say he told you so. but he noticed the look on your face and he said, "well, are you okay, then? you don't look so well."
kol moved closer to you, concern lacing his features. you shook your head, "i'm really hungry."
there were tears in your eyes, yet you laughed. kol shared a smile, a genuine smile, at your statement.
he stood in front of you, now, and he arched a brow. "well, eat, darling."
you nodded, "okay...what?"
kol laughed, a delicate sound despite his dark composure, "well, a human, love."
you nodded, again, more enthusiastic this time. "i really don’t want to. but, you’re right. i don’t think i have a choice…yeah, i'm going to go do that."
you went to turn away from the room, but kol cleared his throat. you faced him again, "yes?"
"aren't you going to invite me?" that familiar smirk adorned his features.
you smiled sheepishly, "well, duh. do you wanna come?"
kol nodded with a viscious look in his eyes- hunger. he glanced down at his outfit and raised a finger, "don't move, darling. i've got to change."
you don't know why, but you listened. as he raced to his bathroom to change into different clothing, you didn't move a single muscle. when he came back to your spot, he made a face at you. "i didn't mean it literally. you can move."
you let out a held breath, relieved. "thanks."
kol's mind reeled at the interaction. you began to walk out of the room, ready to go hunt. but he stood there for a moment with hesitation. what was going on here?
his mind raced over the options- but he refused to admit the obvious answer. it wasn't possible.
though he couldn't completely remove the thought from his mind, kol shook it off a bit and followed you out of his room.
you descended the stairs with excited feet, kol following along behind you at a quick pace. just as you reached the bottom of the stairs, however, bonnie, stefan, and klaus walked out from the room.
stefan crossed his arms, eyes flickering between you and kol skeptically. bonnie glared at kol, and said, "what the hell?"
klaus lifted his chin triumphantly, like he was pleased at the irony of the situation. "well, little brother. what's this?"
kol glanced at you, signature smirk on his pink lips. "just going out for a hunting trip, brother."
klaus nodded, arching his brow at you, "it's not often that a vampire wants to go hunting with the person who killed them."
you shrugged, looking between your friends and klaus. "it's just a hunting trip. i'm hungry."
kol hummed in response, "you lot have been holding her back from her potential. blood bags and little bunnies aren't enough for us. she needs it from the vein."
stefan hesitated, taken aback by this statement. "not enough? i manage to survive on bunnies just fine."
kol sighed, "yes, but you're not reaching your full potential. i intend to make sure everyone i turn is strong, stefan. isn't that right, darling?"
you never took sides. you always managed to find peace between either party in a situation like this. bonnie and stefan looked at you expectantly, ready for whatever peace treaty you'd offer.
but you shocked them by saying, "right, kol."
"now, why don't you let me and my new friend to enjoy ourselves, okay? shall we?" kol held out an arm, waiting for you to lead the two of you away.
you smiled at bonnie and stefan, but there was no remorse in your eyes. you looked different, darker.
they watched you two leave the house. bonnie turned to stefan, worry swimming in her eyes, "stefan? what was that?"
he looked to klaus, whose own gaze looked curious. like he knew something nobody else did.
klaus opened his mouth, but craved the anticipation of the moment to linger. he licked his lips, sighed, and said, "you'll figure it out soon enough. in the mean time, she'll be safe with kol. he really isn't all that bad unless you give him a reason to be."
stefan and bonnie looked jarred as he walked away from them, whistling a happy tune.
what the fuck?
that night, you went bar-hopping with kol. at each one, he properly trained you on how to snatch, feed, and compel. by the end of the night, you felt better- much stronger that you did after drinking bunny blood.
as you downed shots, chasing it with human blood, you loosened up and let slip the dream you’d had about kol.
“so, are you in the habit of manipulating people’s dreams?” you laughed, looking towards him as you set down your empty shot glass.
he furrowed his brows, “what’s that, darling?”
“i had a dream about you the other day,” you shrugged, “obviously. i think that’s why i showed up to your house.”
kol’s mind reeled again- “that wasn’t me, darling.”
he ignored the idea again.
it couldn’t be.
he regained his smirk, leaning over you slightly. you really were pretty- gorgeous in the dim light of the bar. the light flickered off your pupils, shimmering in them.
“is this you admitting you’re attracted to me? that you dream about me?”
you blushed deeply. “n-no-“
“don’t worry,” kol leaned into you, lips brushing the tip of your ear, “i’m attracted to you, too.”
later, kol, who had driven, pulled up to your house, stopping on the side of the street. he rested his arm on the back of your seat, twisting to face you.
"well, today was fruitful. don't you feel better? isn't the hunger gone?" kol questioned.
you thought about it for a moment- the hunger that had been there for days now dissipated. you felt fuller. better, like he said.
"yeah, i-i do," you admitted. "can we do this again? soon?"
kol nodded contently, "i would like that very much. my siblings are boring. and none of them are as pretty as you, darling."
you blushed at his admittance, "well, tomorrow, then?"
kol hesitated to say yes. but something in his stomach twisted, something warm and soft and reminiscent of butterflies. he chewed on his bottom lip, eyes swimming with thought.
he met your gaze again, his brown eyes softened from their usual cloudy disposition. you blushed deeper at the way he peered at you.
"actually," kol spoke, "tomorrow...i'm going to take you out. hunting is only fun for so long. i'd rather go on a date."
your nose scrunched up in glee. "okay. that sounds good."
kol leaned across the space between you. he brushed the hair away from your face and placed a soft, sweet, lingering kiss to the apple of your cheek.
the next day, caroline called you at 2pm. you answered with a peppy beat in your voice, "hey, care!"
she scoffed down the line, "don't hey care me, missy! what the hell do you think you're doing?"
you furrowed your brows, "what do you mean?"
caroline laughed bitterly, "get your ass over to the boarding house right now so you can explain to me and everybody else why you're running around with kol mikaelson like some little blood skank."
you giggled at her choice of words, "o...kay. i don't really understand why we're all so upset about this- but i'll be there."
you made it over to their house within minutes, so high on your strength that you ran the whole way there. when you entered the living room, everyone was standing around, for you. jeremy, bonnie, matt, alaric, elena, stefan, damon. and caroline-
she grabbed you by the forearm, tugging you down into the conversation pit and pushing you into the couch. she hovered over top of you, hands on her hips and a grimace on her face.
"explain- now!" she demanded.
you stuttered over you words, licking your lips nervously. "i don't know what i have to explain. i haven't gone on a ripper rampage. and yesterday was an accident. so why am i being put on trial here?"
damon crossed his arms over his chest, "maybe because you're running around with the worlds deadliest vampire like he’s a frat boy and it's spring break in florida."
you felt defensive, and snapped back, "oh, cause you're so innocent, damon. remind me again, what's your body count? oh, sorry i meant kills- not fucks. though i'm sure they're both up there."
alaric chuckled at this, and everyone glanced at him with annoyance. he shut his mouth, and scrunched his face in apology.
"you have to be careful around him. we don't know if had any ulterior motives, y/n. he could turn around and kill you at any moment," stefan explained to you like you were a child.
you crossed your arms, "oh, my god, you barely know him! you guys always just assume the worst out of people. ever think that every single time he's hurt someone has been because he's been threatened? he's in the same position as any of us. he's just the anti-hero, so you won't let it go."
caroline leaned forward and literally flicked you. "stupid! you're stupid! you were so smart as a human!"
"yeah, well i'm dead, caroline! and for some reason i can't drink blood bags or stupid little rats off the forest floor. at least, instead of dallying around, looking for answers, kol is helping me!"
you shoved caroline out of the way, standing from the couch, and storming towards the door.
"where are you going?" bonnie shouted after you.
you turned towards the group with a defiant smirk on your face, "i have a date."
kol picked you up from your house at exactly 7pm. he stood at your front door with a small bouquet of flowers, and since your mother wasn't home to invite him inside, he waited while you put them in a vase.
while you were inside, your cat, crow, slinked through the open door of the house. he peered up at kol coyly, purring lowly. kol heard the animal and looked down to it. a genuine smile reached across his face, and he leaned down to pick the creature up in his arms.
“well, hello, there, darling,” kol soothed. he ran his fingers through the cat’s fur, enjoying its presence while you were gone.
you appeared in the doorway, and a cheeky smile adorned your features. “that is so cute.”
kol blushed- he actually blushed- and let the animal jump from his arms. crow brushed up against your legs before escaping inside.
“what’s his name?” kol inquired as you shut the door behind you.
you fell in step towards the car as you answered, “crow. i got him when i was a baby. he’s nearly 17 now.”
“so you’ve had him too ur entire life?” kol remarked.
you paused, sad, “had him. had him my entire life, yes.”
kol stopped in his tracks, and turned to you. “i’m sorry- sorry. i’m sorry for turning you.”
you shrugged lightly, smiling sadly at him, “sometimes, when we’re in tough positions, it feels like there’s only one decision we can make for ourselves. it’s only after that we realize we could’ve chose a different path. it’s a mistake- it was a mistake. what you did. but i forgive you.”
kol was stunned by how eloquently you spoke. he smiled, “you- don’t you miss it?”
you peered at him, tilted your head. “being human?” he nodded. “no. i can’t say that i do. i don’t like feeding off of people. but i don’t miss it. i don’t know why. being a vampire is miserable sometimes. but i guess if i spend every day for the rest of eternity, wishing things were different, i’d never find peace.”
kol hugged you right then and there. he quickly threw his arms around you, squeezing you tight against his chest. you giggled, slightly, but hugged him back. though his lips were tangled in your shoulder, in your hair, you heard him whisper, “thank you.”
at the mystic grille, one of your coworkers seated you towards the back, per your request. no one knew georgia was dead yet. tyler had compelled her mom and dad to think she went on a trip, and that's what the story was for now. another death, another memorial, was too much for the town right now.
you had told kol about death last night, had even cried, but he reminded you that it was necessary. that you would have all of eternity to live in memory of her. and you carried that with you.
the entire night went beautifully. kol was a perfect gentleman the entire time. he never interrupted, and he listened intently as you rambled. though you don't get much food, he still paid for what you did order.
at one point, your phone screen lit up with a text from caroline, ‘where’d you go to eat? the serial killer cafe where they serve human hearts on a gold platter?’
kol didn’t see that, luckily, but he did see the beautifully taken photo of you, caroline, bonnie, and elena on your home screen.
he remarked, “that’s a wonderful photo. you look gorgeous.”
you blushed again. “thank you. it’s one of my favorites. taking pictures is a hobby of mine.”
kol sat up in his seat and demanded you show him more. you let him scroll through the album on your phone. he noticed you took a picture of something almost every single day- but that that had stopped since you’d transitioned.
“why don’t you take them anymore? didn’t caroline tell you to hold onto things like that?” kol questioned, handing you back your phone.
you toyed with it, sighing, “yeah. i’ve wanted to. i just- i don’t know.”
kol took your hand, “that’s a way to find peace. by keeping ahold of yourself. not letting her get lost in the transition. you’re still you.”
you smiled up at him, hesitated, before holding up your phone. you opened the camera app and put him into frame. turns out vampires do show up on camera- and he looked good.
“say cheese,” you giggled as kol’s face went slack with confusion.
“what does that mean?” he asked you.
you lowered the camera for a moment, “it means to smile! when you say it, you teeth pull back. so you’re smiling!”
kol laughed, “darling, that is a ridiculous expression. besides, i don’t want a photo if you’re not in it.”
he slid into the booth beside you, tossed his arm around your shoulders, and grinned as you pointed the camera towards you. you took three- one where you were smiling, a backup one in case the other didn’t turn out, where he didn’t know you were taking it- he was just looking at you with this romantic expression- and another where he kissed your cheek.
it all felt very wonderful. you didn't care if he had killed a hundred people in this century. you didn't care that he killed you, that he threatened your friends and poised a danger to himself and others.
you cared that the light hit his dark eyes in an inspiring manner each time he tilted his head. you cared that he thought you were interesting, that he listened. you cared that he loved the color green, forest green, like  pine trees and his car. you cared that his favorite place to travel to was ireland, though he hadn't been in a hundred years. that he wanted to go back.
you wanted to go with him.
he pulled up outside of your house, and as you reached for the door handle, he sped out of the car and opened it for you.
"you don't have to do that. it's not 1910 anymore," you laughed, taking his offered hand and standing.
"yes, i do, darling," he disagreed with a sweet smile. "beauty like that deserves a gentlemanly touch."
you sheepishly smiled at him, "whatever you say, kol."
he offered his arm again, and you closed your hand around the crook of his elbow. he led you to the front door, continuing whatever conversation you'd been having in the car. as you stepped onto the porch, you slowly let go of his arm, and turned to face him.
"thank you for the last few days," you confessed, a deep breath sliding through your teeth. "tonight was the first night in a while where i felt- i don't know- ordinary. everyone keeps treating me like i'm delicate, like i'm small. thanks for treating me like an equal."
kol stepped closer, tilting his head with a smile. "you're strong, darling. they just don't know it yet. you'll prove them wrong."
"yes, i will," you admitted.
kol's mind flashed like it had the other day. you were so eloquent- your personality was sweet and kind. he was intrigued by everything you said. you were very individualistic.
but, you agreed with every single thing he said.
earlier, he'd told you that he absolutely hated olives. and you automatically acted disgusted. he pointed out that they were in your half-eaten salad, and you laughed. "i guess i hadn't noticed."
for the next ten minutes of conversation, you'd picked every single olive out of your salad.
but the way you were looking up at him now erased any doubt. you were probably just a people pleaser.
this, whatever was growing between you, was too real to be what he thought it was.
you stepped closer to kol, bringing his mind  back down to earth. he met your eyes and saw a certain hunger sparked within them. kol reached out his arms, letting his hands slide into a resting spot at your hip, and around your back.
your hands hit his chest, and they slowly snaked up to his neck. kol's eyes flickered from your eyes to your lips, plump with desire.
you leaned in further and let your eyes fall shut. kol hesitated, staring at your restful face, heated with peaceful anticipation.
he ignored the sinking feeling and let his own gaze fall shut. he shoved his lips against your own, a passionate, feverish kiss that pushed your back up against the side of your house. you were breathless by the time he pulled back, and you wanted more. as you leaned into him, kol pressed your back into the wall further.
"not yet, darling. patience," he puzzled his lips against yours gently, eyes boring into your own. then, he tore apart from you completely.
you felt warm- hungry for more of his touch. you wanted to kiss him again. but he was right; you should wait. so you let your arms hug your body, like you we’re holding yourself back, and you took a deep breath.
"okay," you agreed with a short nod.
kol stopped at the top of the steps, watching as you opened your front door. you leaned against the frame, and he said, "have a good night, darling. don't think about me too much."
your mind blanked, and you cleared it of any image or thought of him. "okay."
kol watched you turn away, watched the door shut firmly behind you. he hesitated on the first step. he couldn't stop thinking about the way your face looked- about how serious you were in your response.
a month later, and you were all in.
you texted kol all day, everyday- through class, at home, when you were with caroline, bonnie, and elena. you'd gone hunting at least once a week. you'd been on exactly three dates. he'd kissed you four times.
you were all in.
kol stopped doubting your reactions as he fell deeper into it with you. he convinced himself, as anyone would, that was too real.
and he was right.
you were at work, having just delivered food to a table, when you ran into klaus. he was sitting down in a booth in your section when you made eye contact.
you rolled your eyes and walked up to him. "drink?"
klaus crossed his arms, "now, is that anyway to greet a customer?"
you sighed, wanting to groan and punch the table. "that's the way to greet a customer who's tried to kill your friends a million times over."
klaus looked pleased at the way he angered you. he pushed on, "yet you're so smitten with kol."
you placed your palm down on the table, leaning your weight into it. you popped a hip, settled your other hand onto it. "excuse me? did you actually came to eat or did caroline send you to berate me?"
"oh, love, i'm here on my own free will. just wanted to ask you a couple questions," klaus tilted his head towards the other side of the booth, urging you to sit.
you refused, "so; ask me."
klaus shifted in his seat, peering down at you, "do you do everything kol tells you to?"
a robotic response slipped from your tongue, one you hadn't even thought or wanted to say. "whatever he wants."
you bit your bottom lip, embarrassed by your response. klaus smirked at the answer, "interesting. is that why you can't drink from blood bags? from animals?"
"kol said..." you hesitated, "kol said they're not enough. he said i have to kill or hunt. he said i won't be strong enough unles i do."
klaus stood from the booth, swinging his jacket over his arm. he patted your arm darkly, "that's all i needed. thank you, dear."
you turned on your heel, watching as he walked away. you shook your head and urged the weird situation to roll off your shoulders.
but it was bugging you. every time you wanted to do something, and kol said otherwise, or every time he said anything at all, your actions would only reflect his choices. sometimes you felt like you had no control over yourself.
you chalked it up to being a vampire- maybe that’s what it was when you were in love with someone.
caroline waited around the corner that klaus rounded. stefan stood beside her, leant up against the wall with crossed arms. his features fell flat, dark. caroline looked stressed. klaus stopped in front of them, shrugging. "there you have it."
caroline locked her jaw shut, eyes narrowing, "she's sired."
stefan straightened, "how do we break it?"
klaus shook his head, "you can't. there's no spell or magic ring she can wear."
stefan looked at the floor and thought his way through the situation. "well, that's not technically true, is it, klaus? you chose not to release your sire on your werewolves. but you could have. you could have told them not to be sired. it's as simple as that."
caroline perked up at the idea, "a loophole."
klaus chuckled darkly, "good luck convincing my brother to do that. she's falling for him- that's the first girl in the history of the world to look past his darkness. he won't let that go."
caroline looked frustrated now, and she stomped her foot. "talk to him, then! convince him for us. make him see how wrong this is!"
"you've tried to kill me more times than i can count. why should i?" klaus peered at them.
caroline exhausted all her options, "i'll go on a date with you."
he agreed, but he warned as an afterthought, "the sire bond rules your actions. not your feelings. remember that."
kol sat at the grand piano in the living room, fingers daintily trailing across the keys. he glanced back and forth at the sheet music propped up before him, practicing.
he had just been texting you. you wanted to hang out- but you had homework to do. you told him you’d skip the assignment, rush it later and turn in a shitty draft or whatever essay you had to write. he told you that you shouldn’t put him before school, that you should focus and get that stuff done.
so you responded that you’d be shutting your phone off until it was done. that you wouldn’t be in contact.
and it clicked for him.
klaus slowly walked into the room, arms crossed over his buff chest. kol's fingers came to a stop as he heard his brothers foot steps.
"what?" he breathed out, refusing to turn to face his brother.
"we need to talk," klaus stated firmly.
kol knew why. he knew everyone would figure out eventually. he didn't want to admit it to himself. it was hard- letting someone in. but he'd done it, only to find out everything was fake.
he felt the hole in his chest growing, felt the darkness swallowing him up. love was lost in him. after spending eternity utterly alone, his hopes were being given up.
and this would be the end of the line. because the universe was proving, time and time again, that he didn’t deserve it.
he wouldn't be able to recover after having to let you go.
so he would play dumb for now and revel in what bits of you he got to have.
klaus slid onto the bench beside him, his heart tugging for his brother. as much as he hated his family, he still cared for them. he hurt for them.
especially kol.
"i spoke to y/n today."
kol flinched at your name. he pressed the c key. "oh?"
klaus stared down at the piano keys, shoulders slouched. "kol...brother, she's sired. to you."
in one flash, kol hooked his fingers on the underneath of the piano, and flipped it across the room. it shattered against the wall, breaking the large picture window. pieces of wood flew out of the house, and glass and various other piano parts splattered across the floor. kol stood there, chest heaving up and down, and face hot with anger.
klaus didn't even flinch.
kol wiped at the spittle on his chin. he glared at the broken piano, at the sheet music on the floor.
yesterday, when he'd called you on the phone to tell you goodnight, he'd let it slip that he used to play piano. you had gasped, and said that it was amazing. that he needed to play something for you sometime. he had began practicing the second he got off the phone with you.
he was going to learn a song for you.
kol closed his fists, fighting the urge to hit something or throw something else. he growled, the veins protruding under his eyes, his fangs prominent.
he turned to face klaus, but held his head proudly. "i have to go."
klaus stood up, and reached for his brothers shoulder. kol skirted from his touch with another growl. klaus breathed out, "kol, you have to let-"
kol yelled in response. no words formed through his temper; he just yelled.
"let her go," klaus finished.
kol stormed out of the room, nearly breaking the front door to the house as he left.
klaus stood there, defeatedly, mourning for his brother.
you were with caroline, sprawled out on the couch in your living room, watching your favorite romantic comedy. she'd made cookies for your self-proclaimed girls night, and you shoveled microwave popcorn in your face.
caroline was talking boys, as always. she was complaining about tyler and his weird wolfy situationships, and about klaus and his charming- manipulative- romantic advances. you listened blankly, watching the television from the corner of your vision.
caroline threw a popcorn kernel at your face, "hello! are you even listening to me?"
you perked up, meeting her gaze. "what-? oh, yes. i am listening. tyler is annoying and klaus is hot, but also annoying."
caroline laughed, but frowned at you, "i'm not allowed to agree with that."
"but you dooooo," you winked at her. "just break up with tyler. go be with klaus. he's hot, fun, dangerous."
"i didn't know you were suddenly into bad guys," she nibbled on the cookie in her hands, glancing between you and the tv. her eyes went blank as she went off on one of her tangents, "i mean, i know you being into kol isn't completely, exactly in your control. like, you're weirdly into him, but consciously you're not all there to question yourself like i know you would. it's still weird, obviously. youve just always been against bad boys. and, now- i don’t know- but what's with this klaus is hot thing? where'd that come from-"
"what?" you swallowed the popcorn in your mouth. your brows furrowed, confusion washing your features down.
caroline paused, and her eyes went wide. she tried to cover up her slip, "klaus. i mean why do you think he's hot? and why do you think i should go for him? he's killed tons of people-"
"what?" you sat up, the popcorn bowl spilling from your lap and into the floor.
caroline wouldn't meet your stare. she shoved the rest of the cookie into her mouth so it was occupied.
"caroline, what do you mean it's not in my control? what does that mean?" you felt defensive, like you always felt anymore whenever someone would say something against kol.
caroline swallowed thickly, "n-nothing. i didn't say that, actually. i said-"
"caroline!"
her head flipped towards you, blonde curls sprawling across her back. "okay...don't freak out. but you're sorta, kinda, maybe...sired to kol."
your jaw went slack, and you looked at her blankly. so many emotions rushed through your body- confusion being at the top of the list that you could decipher.
but it made sense. you loved olives. you never wanted to kill your coworker. you hated feeding off of human beings. you didn’t want to be okay about seeing kol.
you felt betrayed by your own body.
betrayed by him. had he known all this time? had he carefully calculated your actions in order to manipulate your feelings? was he just using you?
if that there were the case, why had he been so kind? was that his tactic?
so that was the reason why you couldn't drink blood- why you were unable to do anything but hunt down the locals.
you felt tears well up in your eyes. "what does that mean, care?" you didn’t know enough to truly understand.
"well? anytime he says anything, you automatically agree with him. you do anything he says," she spoke slowly, a strange rhythm to her usually frantic word choice. "but it doesn't affect your feelings whatsoever."
"are you sure?" you questioned, hopeful. "what if he was manipulating me into feeling this way? you're right- when i was a human, i would've never done this."
"i mean...i guess that's possible,"
she paused. she reached for your hand, squeezing gently. "but did he ever say anything to insinuate that?"
you didn't want to admit it to yourself now that you knew the truth.
but you were falling in love with him. and he hadn't told you to do that.
you were confused, speechless, because it was a terrible situation. if you admitted how you felt, he would think the entire thing was manipulated. that you were lying. but if he didn't know you were sired, and you told him, he'd eventually find out, and still think your feelings were fake.
was there a way out of this?
because as your feelings sorted, you’d hoped you’d be able to come out of this with him.
"caroline, i..." your voice broke. "i think i love him. i know it's wrong- and he's a monster. but i can't help it. the first day i went over there, i didn't know why. i just felt drawn to him, like i was supposed to be there. and every time he'd tell me to do something- every time my actions were affected by the sire, it felt like an obligation. i knew something was off. but every time i think about my feelings for him, every time i'm with him, and every time i look at him- i feel like i'm making the conscious choice to love him. like i wake up everyday and choose to want to be with him. and it's not a chore. it's real."
caroline's features softened. for the first time that you spoke of him, she was willing to listen. she was sympathetic. "i think you need to go to him."
you hesitated, but stood from the couch. "really?"
caroline's eyes were watery, but she smiled with a relieved-sounding laugh. "yeah. i think you do. i think you need to go to him and tell him how you feel. tell him the sire bond means nothing to you. just- tell
him what you told me."
caroline stood and you threw yourself into her arms. she squeezed you tightly, and watched as you left. just as your front door shut behind you, kol appeared on the porch before you.
you felt a relief, like him being there would solve all of your problems.
you swiped at your eyes, willing the tears to go away. "oh," you laughed slightly, "speak of the devil."
kol's eyes were dark, void of any of the light you'd grown accustomed to. he stood rock-hard, a solid force of nature, against you.
"we need to talk," he sneered. his jaw was locked shut, teeth pressed together angril.
concern laced your tone, and you reached out to him, "wait, what's wrong? what happened?"
kol breathed heavily, deeply, "stay back."
your body went slack, and you did as he said. "kol? what's going on?"
his eyes softened slightly at the distress in your voice, at the state of the situation between you. "you're sired to me, darling."
you were grateful for that nickname- that it was there at the end of such a cruel sentence. it was a comfort, an eye in a storm. it was his humanity shining through, no matter how hardened and devoid he thought he was.
you nodded, "i know. caroline just told me. but- it's okay. it doesn't affect my feelings. it doesn't matter. i lov-"
kol interrupted you fiercely, "no. it does matter. you never would've gone to dinner with me if you weren't sired. you never would've shown up to my house if you weren't sired. bloody hell- you would've killed me. you would've stuck a dagger in my chest if you weren't sired to me. your witch would've locked me in that cave for the rest of time. it matters, y/n."
you hated hearding your name. it was harsh and sad in this state. your chest ached with disagreement, but the sire bond forced you to side with him. you didn't want to- you tried to fight against it. but you didn't know if it was possible, or if you were even strong enough to fight it off.
"kol- no-!" you tried to interrupt.
"stop talking, darling," he looked defeated as he said it, knowing what it meant.
you watched tears spill out of his eyes, carving their way down his cheeks. it burned in your chest. you fought against the supernatural, trying to break from the bond just to hold him. to comfort him. to tell him you loved him.
kol licked his bottom lip, trying to regain composure. "darling- i have to- you are no longer bonded to me. you don't have to do anything i say. you will act on your own accord- you will feel on your own-"
as you fought against the bond, a 'no!' slipped from your lips.
kol hesitated, a spark of hoping lit like a match between you. he snuffed it out- "when i leave, do not come after me. i let you go- i'm letting you go."
you sobbed into the night air, chest aching in response to his words. couldn't he see? couldn't he see past the darkness? you cared! your feelings weren't affected!
you felt a physical and spiritual weight as you pushed against the bond. it shifted slightly- for a second, you stopped caring. for a second, you almost turned around and went inside. because he had released you. and he turned to leave.
but, you snapped out of the bond completely, choosing to keep fighting it off. for him.
“no!" you yelled, moving from your spot. you stumbled forward, but caught yourself on the balls of your feet. kol peered over his shoulder, but paid no mind. he simply thought you were released and we’re going to go inside any moment now.
he took a step down, onto the first ledge of the stairs.
"no, kol," you spoke, louder this time. "stay. please- stay. please don't leave!"
kol slowly turned back to face you. his face relaxed, shock displaying across his features.
"stay, kol," you sobbed, "i love you."
kol stepped back up onto the porch, his brows furrowing. "wha-what?"
"the sire bond doesn't affect my feelings. it didn't- the entire time. maybe i never would've come to you if it hadn't brought me to you- but i made the conscious decision to fall in love with you. i chose that! not you, not the universe just me."
"i can't-" he stuttered, "i can't believe you. it doesn't make any sense."
"but it does," you stepped closer to him, "how can it not? even more so now- you've released me from the sire bond and i'm standing here in front of you telling you i love you! that's my choice. it's my decision."
kol took a slow step forward. he reached his hands out, but dropped them back at his sides. "ho-how do you know?"
"kol," you laughed sardonically, "please believe me, kol. compel me, cast a spell! something. please! just please know that i am telling the truth. i love you."
kol almost did- he almost compelled you. but as you moved closer to each other, he saw something in your eyes. it's usual brightness, it's light, extraordinarily warm though you were dead.
he wanted to run away from the truth because he was afraid. he'd never let someone in before. he was frightened you would leave when things got bad.
and he even took a step backwards.
but, then he made the conscious decision to try- to love you.
he stepped forward and at that movement, you did, too.
you jumped into his embrace, gripping at the front of his shirt. he pressed his lips into yours fiercely, holding you flush against his chest. he kissed you so harshly, you bent backwards to support his weight. you exchanged a giggle, but pushed back to steady your bodies.
he pulled away, breathless, to say, "i love you, too. i love you so much, darling. i love you."
and he did.
he loved you.
Ex's and Oh's
I have finally finished a thing, but honestly, with the 2023 has shaped up, this is a triumph! Happy Holidays, all.
Summary: Caroline's return to New Orleans is a little less triumphant than she'd like. There is a dead body in her trunk and a magical artifact in her passenger seat, and no matter how much she'd like too, the chances of avoiding her ex-husband are astronomically small. What, with the mate bond and all, but a girl's gotta hope.
Warnings: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence; Alternate Universe - Werewolves Are Known; Minor Character Death; Magical Realism; We Make War Not Love; Post-Divorce; These Two Fools in Love; Klaus and Caroline Being Territorial; for each other; tyler is dead; kind of; Canon-Typical Violence; Violence; Murder
“You aren’t supposed to be here.”
“I know.”
Bonnie rubbed a hand down her face after she handed Caroline a cup of coffee, her expression exasperated. “Do you?”
Caroline bit down on a tired smile. “Bonnie.”
“I hope you know what you’re doing,” she huffed, her eyes narrowing. “Enzo and I won’t be able to hide this. You know he has my place watched. He knows we talk. He knows I used to visit you, on occasion. He let it slide, because to do anything else would just piss you off more.” She sat and sighed. “This he will not let slide.”
Caroline shrugged, reaching carefully for the cream. Her ribs tugged uncomfortably at the motion, and she was careful to hide it. She needed caffeine too badly to let her friend be distracted. It’d just been her and multiple five hour energies over the past twenty hours, and there were things that needed to be said. “He’ll get over it.”
A choked noise escaped from her oldest friend, her expression pinched. It was still early in New Orleans, dawn not having quite creeped over the edge of the horizon. Her walk from her parked car had been quiet, the city slow and sleepy in the early morning hours, only the most adventurous of tourists staggering home. Bonnie had clearly rolled out of bed when Caroline had woken her, her clothing rumbled and mismatched. She’d have felt bad about just showing up after so long, if the circumstances hadn’t been an emergency.
“Caroline, Klaus does not ‘get over things,’ particularly when they involve you.”
“It's been just over ten years since the divorce, Bon.” Three years, fifty-one days since she had last talked to him. Since she had been in the same state as him. If she thought about it too long, her chest would start to ache with the weight of it. She had just never been able to decide if it was grief or rage that she carried like a cloak.
“Oh, I’m aware,” she said flatly. “The entire bayou is aware, Caroline.”
A pause, as Caroline scrunched her nose. “I didn’t think the divorce would still be hot gossip. A decade is more than long enough for people to stop wagging their tongues.”
Bonnie let out a groan. “If you think the kind of gossip your divorce from Klaus Mikaelson inspired is going to die down this century, you’ve forgotten how insular this place can be.”
“Kol lives here.” Caroline shrugged, winced. “He has a new antic every week. They can’t be bored of things to talk about.”
A peculiar look crossed Bonnie’s face. “Would you like to know what the last bit of nonsense Kol got into?” She didn’t wait for a reply. “He threw a block party.”
Caroline blinked. “That’s… not unusual for Kol. I can think of at least three block parties he threw in the last year that I lived here.”
Bonnie made a noise. “I don’t think you're really appreciating the scale of this party. It spilled across six streets. He brought in margarita trucks. Two live bands. Cops were called, SWAT intervened after the second fireball, dozens of wolves ended up in jail overnight, and it took a week for Elijah to untangle the legal shenanigans.” She arched her brow. “A week. Even the post-Esther shindig didn’t explode through the city quite that way.”
And neither of them had mentioned a word of this to her. She wondered if Enzo had a video. “Where was Klaus?”
“Business trip.” Bonnie said succinctly. “He showed up an hour after the SWAT team had been brought in to deal with the drunk witches. Do you know what Kol was celebrating?”
Caroline shook her head.
“Your divorce.”
The noise that caught in Caroline’s throat was strangled, torn somewhere between a laugh and a shriek. Bonnie’s expression darkened into that of a martyr before a judge.
“There was a banner, Caroline. Kol hung it across the front of the mansion, right above the entrance, and he had someone set up two spotlights to make sure it was visible. I have no idea who made the banner, but it had to be someone out of state, because supposedly no one died. Would you like to guess what it said?”
Caroline opened and closed her mouth, but couldn’t quite find the words. What exactly would Kol have put up to celebrate her divorce?
“No?” Bonnie crossed her arms. “Too bad. It read, “Congratulations to Caroline Forbes, Ten Years and Counting.”
It was a physical strain, not to laugh at Bonnie’s unimpressed look. Her ex-husband had enough pride to keep the Titanic afloat, having their disaster of a marriage waved in his face had to have made him apocalyptic with anger.
Bonnie nodded at her expression. “Elijah had to smuggle Kol to Eastern Europe. He’s still there.”
Struggling with her composure, when she finally spoke, Caroline managed to mostly sound normal. “Kol can occasionally be likable, can’t he?”
“You would find it hilarious.” Bonnie made a face. “Enzo certainly did. But it’s made my life unnecessarily complicated. Rebekah is refusing to talk to Klaus until he brings Kol back, and Klaus threw her last messenger through the front doors. Werewolves can apparently bounce. “
Caroline looked everywhere but Bonnie’s face. She would not appreciate the laughter Caroline was struggling to hide.
“The pack has started referring to the party as The Event, and every time someone is dumb enough to mention it in Klaus’ hearing, he gets that particular look on his face.” Bonnie waved her hand. “You know the look: he’s clearly weighing just how useful you are and if dead would be the better state of your existence.”
Caroline cleared her throat, trying to look contrite. It was difficult, when all she wanted to do was lean forward and ask for more details. Ask just how much Klaus was suffering, if the wound of her leaving matched the one he’d left in her. “That sounds terrible.”
↳ you were klaus’ spouse, a marriage you both keep hidden from everyone. he adored you, but that didn’t mean you wouldn’t get jealous once in a while.
you had married the mikaelson many, many years ago. you both decided to keep your relationship a secret, so you couldn’t be used as bait towards one another. he didn’t want you to be in danger’s way, he adores you, so much. the only ones who know are his family. you had no family left, just the mikaelsons. even then, that had never stopped kol or even elijah from threatening your life whenever they had a disagreement or an argument with klaus. you knew none of the brothers would never lay a hand on you, but even a threat towards you made klaus go insane. no one would ever hurt you. just the mention of your name in a negative way was enough to make klaus explode with rage.
keeping the secret is a bit hard at times. especially when your husband is absolutely breathtaking. it sometimes amused you how many women would throw themselves at him. it made you even happier when he rejected them all, as you were the only woman he would even want. you were the one.
however, caroline became the constant cause of your jealousy these days. you could tell she felt something towards him, but you trusted him. your husband would never hurt you, and would absolutely never, ever cheat. however, you still felt uncomfortable around her. she was gorgeous, you felt insecure around her. cause how could klaus chose you, when she looks as beautiful as that? still, you cared deeply for her. after all, you were an incredibly kind person. everyone felt safe and comfortable around you.
acting like you both disliked each other was the best part. you thought it was humorous how you’d claim to hate him in public, but jump in his arms and plant kisses along his face in private. he also loved it, but it was a bit harder for him. klaus is very possessive over what’s his. he wanted the world to know you belonged to him. he wanted everyone to know you were his, and only his.
but he couldn’t. just the thought of you being in danger drove him crazy. if something were to happen to you, klaus would lose his mind, he knew this for a fact. you were his entire life. you were the reason of his existence. he was so sure he was born just to love you.
it was a prom night. rebekah insisted on going, she had never experienced her own prom, nor a graduation. so you wanted to help her. you wanted to be by her side as she lived through them. so you agreed to attending the prom. klaus was going as well, to ensure your safely.
“do i look alright?” rebekah said, somewhat nervous as she stood in front of you. you smiled widely.
“you look gorgeous! here, i brought you this.” you said softly, taking out a corsage. rebekah gasped, looking back at you. you giggled, helping her out it in. “now you’re ready.” you said, smiling.
“thank you for this, y/n. i’ll finish my hair and meet you both downstairs.” she said, before turning around and grabbing her curling iron once again. you nodded, walking out of her room, and gently closing her door. you walked down the stairs, niklaus waiting by the very last step. he smiled at you, that smile you loved so much.
“you look exquisite, angel. absolutely bewitching.” klaus said, taking your waist into his big hands. you blushed at his words. even after years of marriage, he never failed to make you feel loved and cared for. you fixed his suit, before pecking his soft lips.
“and you, my love, look extremely charming.” you said, earning an even bigger smile from the hybrid. you truly made him the happiest. he grabbed your hand, swiftly intertwining your fingers together. he looked at your wedding ring and smiled. you both had never taken it off. i mean, you couldn’t. you both made your wedding rings daylight ones as well. best decision ever. he kissed your hand, before planting another kiss to your lips.
“ready to hate me yet another day, love?” niklaus asked, making you giggle a bit. you nodded, looking up at him. you heard rebekah walking down the stairs towards you.
“let’s be on our way, then!” she said, excited.
===========
the loud music could be heard from outside the school. what were you getting yourself into? you weren’t a big party girl, but you wanted to do this for rebekah. she deserved this. you watched her smile grow even bigger than before as she walked through the doors of the gym, making your heart flutter. you loved watching her happy. you smiled at her, klaus walking away from you both, to discard any suspicion from others. you frowned a bit, missing him already.
“y/n, you came!” you heard elena say, as soon as she saw you. you grinned a bit, nodding.
“i did! you look beautiful!” you said, looking at her dress once again. she blushed a bit at your words. stefan stood behind her, his hand on her waist, and he nodded along.
“she does, doesn’t she?” he added, earning a nod from you. elena laughed, her laugh a bit inaudible, because of the music. stefan and elena soon walked away, to dance. you were alone once again. and you didn’t mind that. you had begged rebekah to make a move on matt. she really liked him, and he was a great guy. they’d be a great couple. you watched from afar as rebekah danced with matt, making you smile widely. finally the music got quieter, slow dances, thank god.
“may i have this dance, sunshine?” you heard damon salvatore say behind you. you turned around, smiling at him. you were about to turn him down, that was until you saw your husband dancing with caroline. you knew it wasn’t supposed to bother you, but it did. god, it really did. watching his hands on another woman’s waist was not a nice sight.
“why not?” you replied back, as damon grabbed your hand, leading you into the dance floor. one of his hands grabbed your waist gently, while the other held your hand. you began to dance, it had been so long since you danced like this.
“are you here alone?” damon asked, gaining your attention once again. you loved these type of questions. you never knew what to reply. you grinned a bit, nodding.
“it seems like you are too. considering elena’s with stefan.” you teased, earning a scoff from him. you laughed a bit, looking into his eyes again.
“yeah well, it will always be stefan, it seems.” he said, making you a bit sad. you frowned a bit, immediately regretting your little joke. he chuckled as he watched your expression change.
“i’m alright, sweetheart. don’t worry about it, just dance.” he said, twirling you around carefully. you smiled a bit, continuing to dance.
your eyes were always on niklaus and caroline. you felt so pathetic, being so jealous. but it was inevitable. he was smiling at her, she kept laughing and their bodies were extremely close. you just wanted to grab him and kiss him right then and there, so everyone would get the message. that he was spoken for. you felt yourself sadden a bit. the song soon ended. damon let go of your waist, and offered you something to drink.
“is alcohol included? please tell me it’s not just fruit punch.” you said, needing some sort of relief from all these jealousy you were feeling. he chuckled and looked back at you.
“do you know who you’re talking to? trust me.” he said, before walking away, to fetch you both some drinks. you walked to a less crowded spot, and continued to wait for damon.
you looked back at your husband once again. this time, caroline’s hands were on his chest. you felt your blood boil. this is something you hated about being a hybrid, how heightened your emotions were. you tried relaxing. it’s fine. you knew niklaus adores you. your thoughts were interrupted by damon, coming back with two red cups. he handed you one, and you instantly took a sip. ah, yes. bourbon, of course. you smiled at him.
“thank you. i needed something.” you said, as you saw damon laugh, nodding along.
“me too. how many dances have you been to over the years?” he asked. nice question. you started thinking. there were so many. you laughed.
“too many to count. and it’s absolutely hilarious how they play the same songs on every single one.” you said, causing a chuckle from damon, agreeing with you. you smiled, looking back at the people dancing. it was still a nice sight, watching people enjoy themselves.
“seems like klaus and caroline are really hitting it off.” damon said, pointing at them, before taking a sip from his drink. you tensed up, looking back at klaus. you bit your lip almost drawing blood when you saw caroline whispering something in his ear, her lips lingering in front of his lips. you looked down at your feet.
“yeah, seems like it.” you replied, almost dryly. he nodded. you took a big sip from your drink, you needed to get wasted, or you’d explode of jealousy.
“don’t you think they’d be a good couple? she seems to keep him in check.” he said, into your ear. that was the comment that unsettled you. keep him in check?
you started to think back on it. klaus hadn’t done anything violent ever since he met her. you felt your heart sink at the realization. she did keep him in check. she made him a better person. what did you do? you were useless. you chuckled in reply, nodding. you finished what was in your cup and looked back at damon.
“think i’ll be heading home. have fun, tell rebekah i left early if she asks.” you said, damon looking at you puzzled. you had just gotten there, only about thirty minutes ago. you started to walk away, only for damon to grab your wrist gently.
“don’t leave so soon, gorgeous. the party is only starting, we just had one drink.” he said, making you grin a bit. you shook your head, softly patting his hand.
“i’m just tired. but we’ll have plenty of other dances to get drunk together in.” you said, damon smiling widely, before letting out a small chuckle and letting go of your wrist. you walked through all the people, finally reaching the exit of the gym.
you felt so much better once you closed the doors of the gym, finally outside. you began to walk around the school halls, looking for the exit, so you could head home and rest, maybe even cry a bit. or maybe rant to elijah, he’s always a good listener. you heard the doors of the gym open, and slam, as if someone has come out as well. they might have also seen their significant other being too close with someone else, like you.
“y/n!” you heard someone say behind you. you stopped walking in the middle of the hall, and turned back. watching your husband come running towards you. he looked at you, confused.
“are we leaving already? rebekah is still dancing inside, love.” he said gently, you shook your head.
“no, i’m leaving. you both can stay. it seems like you both are enjoying yourselves.” you said, a bit bitterly. you didn’t mean to sound so mean, but god, you were jealous and somewhat mad at klaus for going along with caroline’s advances. you understand he was trying his hardest to keep your relationship hidden, but.. it hurt.
“what? no, darling. we’ll leave together then.” he said softly, his hand reaching over to hold yours, but you pulled your hand back. he looked at you, a bit shocked by your actions.
“no, niklaus. you seemed to hit it off with caroline, so please, don’t waste any more time and go back to being felt all over by her.” you said, your jealousy taking over. you bit your lip right after. regretting what you said immediately, once you saw him smirk.
“are you jealous, my love?” he asked, in a teasing manner. you rolled your eyes, before turning your back on him and continuing to walk. he grabbed your wrist, soon pushing you against the lockers and looking deeply into your eyes. you felt your heartbeat pick up as one of his hands ran towards your hip.
you looked at his lips then at his eyes. you bit your lip, you were supposed to be upset with him. yet here you were, fighting the urge to kiss him right now. a fight you soon lost. you crashed your lips into his, his hand immediately squeezing your hip. your hands went straight to his golden locks, softly pulling on his hair. you tilted your head, for more access as you kissed him roughly. both your tongues fighting for dominance. his hand smoothly ran towards your bottom, squeezing it softly. you moaned into his mouth. klaus pulled away soon after.
“easy there, precious. you’re angry, hungry.” klaus said, trying to catch his breath after such heated make out session. one of your hands ran to his cheek, your thumb caressing his red lips, your other hand stayed tangled on his locks.
“you’re mine.” you whispered, so softly it was almost inaudible. he looked into your eyes, as you stared at his beautiful lips. he lifted your head up gently.
“all yours, my love. you’re the only woman who will ever have me.” klaus said, gently, as he stared deeply into your eyes. he grabbed one of your hands and placed it on top of his heart. “do you feel that? my heart only beats for you. i’m only living because you exist.” he said, his thumb rubbing your hand in the softest way.
you somehow felt terrible for how jealous you felt. he didn’t deserve this. you trusted him. you knew he would never cheat on you. but damon’s comment had truly hurt you. you looked back up to meet his eyes.
“i don’t bring out the good in you, nik. she does.” you said, looking back down at the floor. he almost chuckled at your words.
“my beloved. you bring out the absolute best in me.” he started, placing strands of your hair behind your ear. you looked back up at him. “you have never tried changing who i am. instead you have embraced me, and adored me when no one else has.” he whispered softly. you felt your eyes water at his words. how could you question the impact you have on him? it almost felt like an insult to him.
“i am nothing without you. your love has made me a better man. have you not noticed?” klaus asked, his hands cupping your cheeks. “ever since i met you, flowers started blooming on my dark and rotten garden. my love, there’s no reason for you to be envious of any other woman. i am only yours as you are mine.” klaus said, trying his hardest to convey his feelings through words.
“i love you.” you managed to say, trying your hardest to not break down crying in front of your incredibly loving husband. he smiled, knowing his words had reached you. no one would ever believe klaus could be this soft. but he was, only with you.
“and i love you. more than all the days and nights. deeper than the oceans and skies. don’t ever doubt that.” klaus said softly, planting a loving kiss on your forehead. you smiled, a few tears finally leaving your eyes.
“now, precious, as much as i enjoy watching you be jealous, i don’t ever want you doubting your worth or my love for you, alright?” he said, your head nodding. “because if anything, i am the one who does not deserve you.” he finished, your hands softly hitting his chest.
“stop, nik. i would like to stop crying some time now.” you said, earning a soft laugh from him. you giggled along. his hands lifting up your head once again to meet his eyes.
“from now on, i will not hide my love for you.” he said gently. “and i’d like to apologize for even making you doubt yourself like this. i was simply going along with it, and i shouldn’t have. i apologize.” he said, sincerely looking into your gorgeous eyes. you shook your head.
“it’s alright, nik. i was just stupidly jealous. happens when you have a heart stopping husband.” you said, shrugging your shoulders softly. he blushed a bit at your words.
“now, why don’t we head home and you can continue kissing me like you were just now?” klaus said, leaving a kiss on your lips. you blushed, hiding your face into his chest for a quick moment, before he reached out for your hand, intertwining your fingers once again, ready to head home, with you.
⊱ him introducing you to his family one-by-one, because he knows they’re a handful
rebekah immediately loves you but makes you swear you won’t break his heart. promises her family will be loyal if you are to them
kol is kol when he meets you - a bit flirty and picking on his brother. it’s not long before he treats you like a sister, though
it’s harder to gain klaus’ trust, but once he knows you’re not a spy to take down his family, he learns to love you. admits he’s glad his brother found someone that makes him happy
⊱ always being invited to family dinners. soon, you don’t even need an invite; they expect that you’ll be there, and will pout all night if you’re unable to come
⊱ going to every party and event with elijah, wearing dresses he’s bought you and matching them with his ties
⊱ speaking of which, him always buying you things. mostly dresses and expensive jewelry, but also anything else that catches his eye
⊱ and if there’s not event for you to attend to wear one of these dresses, he hosts his own private dances for just the two of you in the mansion’s ballroom
teaches you elaborate dance styles from all different decades, and has music to match any time period
at the end of the night, will take you outside princess-style to look at the stars from the balcony
standing in silence with his arms wrapped around you until you get cold, to which he’d then wrap his jacket around your shoulders or bring you back inside
or, you’ll go on walks through the garden and have long talks about anything and everything
⊱ long walks through gardens in the daytime, too, where he picks you flowers
⊱ always showing subtle displays of affection, whether in public or not. holding hands, kissing your cheek, keeping a hand around your waist
⊱ he’s extremely protective and won’t hesitate to take a life to save yours
⊱ will also put himself in harms’ way for you, but then refuses to let you heal him
“just a little bit, baby, come on,” you hold your wrist out to him
“i can’t risk hurting you”
eventually, you’re able to coax him into drinking just enough to help him stand, but that’s it. he heals you back immediately even if you don’t need it
⊱ finding little messages and love letters everywhere. in your coat pockets, under your pillow, in the place of a bookmark. his writing is poetic and straight from the heart
⊱  but while you love the romantic side, you like to keep him on his toes, too
a little bit of child-like behavior never hurt anyone
you’ve scared him several times by hiding behind doors and popping out as he passes. once, you even got a curse word out of him
you’ve also convinced him to join you in the pool on several occasions, with or without being fully clothed (only at night, of course)
sometimes, you’ll go outside together, away from the city, and explore the woods. you always come back feeling more at peace and definitely more in love
⊱ while on the topic of love, you’re the first to confess it, but he knows he’s loved you long before either of you say the words
you say it while you were cuddling one night. he doesn’t know how to reply, but you tell him it’s okay to say nothing
he wants so badly to tell you the truth about how he feels, but is too afraid that the minute he utters them, something would happen to you
but then he tells rebekah about what had happened and she berates him for it
“you obviously love her, you’ve got to tell her! you can’t live in fear, elijah, you have to go for what you want in this world. if you lose her, it may be too late. besides, our enemies aren’t the only thing that could take her from you. what if she’s worried right now that she made a big mistake in confessing that? what if she runs?”
rebekah makes so many good points, and the fear of what he had done (or rather hadn’t done) begins to eat away at him. but he doesn’t want to rush admitting it, though, so he prepares a night for just the two of you
he cooks a whole dinner and decorates the ballroom. he even buys you a new dress for the occasion, then gives a time to meet him at there
convinces rebekah to take her siblings out of the house for it. gets klaus easily, but kol will not stop teasing him for it. elijah ends up making a deal with davina to get him to go away. he trades an embarrassing baby story for the girl to keep him out of the house for the night, which she gladly accepts
finally, after his siblings are out, he greets you at the door with a kiss on the hand, then the cheek
he works up the courage during dinner conversation, and then at last, during a slow, romantic waltz, utters the words he’s wanted to tell you all this time
he doesn’t stop there, though. he makes sure to tell you everything you make him feel, everything he wants to have with you, how much he really loves you
the night is cut short as you take him upstairs by the hand to take advantage of your time alone
nsfw-ish
⊱ your first time together happened long before any confessions of love, but each time you did after was so much more special than the time before it
⊱ your first time, he was incredibly gentle, not wanting to hurt you
you are, after all, human
he was terrified of causing any pain, because he knows he’s a hundred times stronger, especially in times he’s chasing his lust for you
eventually he learned you could handle him, though, and let himself give in just a little bit. only because you convinced him you wanted it
⊱ the first time he was rough was when he was pissed off about an irresponsible decision klaus made, and you provided yourself as an anger for his outlet
⊱ he’s always dominant with you, but this was a whole new level, and you loved it ⊱ sometime after that, you admitted how much you loved it, and he started to realize you aren’t as innocent as you look
⊱ slowly started exploring more, but he always made you repeat the safeword before doing anything, just to remind you it’s there
⊱ always puts you first and would much rather pleasure you than have any attention paid to himself
you still make sure to please him, though, even if he’s nearly begging you to just let him do all the work
little does he know, the begging just makes you want to defy him more
⊱ slow and romantic happens about equally as hot and rough does
tries his best to balance the two, but he would rather be slow as much as possible. he wants you to feel how much he loves you at least once a week.
⊱ will let you be dominant sometimes, but only after you’ve had a day where you need to feel in control, or after he’s had a day where he needs to feel taken care of
secretly loves being submissive to you but could never do it on a regular basis
⊱ does not take aftercare lightly, no matter the case
cleans you up with a bath, or hot rag if you refuse to get out of bed
applies creams and lotions to your body as necessary
kisses your skin or massages anywhere that you feel a little pain or discomfort
⊱ you usually convince him to cuddle with you afterwards
it was odd to him at first, but soon learned to love and value it
sometimes you’ll fall asleep together. you both love waking up in each other’s arms and sharing a kiss first thing in the morning
⊱ after a couple months, you spend the night with him almost always. eventually, you move in with him and his siblings, too
him making coffee and breakfast for you all
his siblings making fun of his messy hair on mornings after rougher nights
⊱ dating until he can’t stand it anymore and needs to marry you
⊱ living the rest of your lives together; always and forever
Alpha!Klaus M. x Preg- Omega!Reader HC’s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
~When he found out you were pregnant he lost his God damn mind
•You momentarily had to wonder if vampires could go into shock as he froze in a way you had never seen Klaus freeze, still as a statue for about 30 seconds until you tried to walk away.  You had been planning to go call Elijah for help but Klaus thought you were leaving and as you got to the door his arms wound around your waist stopping you in your tracks
•"Where do you think you're going Little Wolf?"
"I think I was going to call Elijah to make sure you were okay, glad you've rejoined the land of the living...please tell me you want it because I'm not getting rid of her."
"Are you joking?!"  He seemed truly upset and you thought he was going to begin listing all of the reasons you were making a horrible choice.
"Please don't-"
"Of course you're not getting rid of our child!  I mean of course it's 100% your choice but I would be devastated if you didn't want this.  Don't worry love, everything is going to be okay, I'm going to take care of everything!  We need to get you checked out by a doctor, preferably a supernatural one, I think Elijah can help with that.  We're going to need to move you out of this apartment and into the mansion with me, finally!"  He crouched down to face your stomach, lifting your shirt and kissing just above your belly button.  "Thank you my little Princess for finally making your Mommy move in with Daddy, she's been fighting me on that for far too long-"
"Because your family is a lot!"
"Don't speak of my Littlest Wolfs aunts and Uncles like that!  Even if you are right."  He stood back up, wrapping his arms back around you and rubbing your butt just how he knew you liked.  "We need to set up the room next to ours as a nursery, get it painted a nice color, I can do some skylines, maybe some fun animals for her, I'm sure she'll love it.  We'll get a great crib, a rocking chair so she can sleep in my arms and never use said crib, I'll send Rebekah for clothes, you won't have to worry about anything, I promise my love!  She's going to love everything we-wait...how do you know it's a she?"  You broke down laughing at that point, unable to stop at the innocent look on the face of your hybrid Alpha before responding.
"I just feel it."  He placed his hand over yours on your stomach and kissed your head.
"Im sure you're right."
•You we're completely moved in with ALL of your stuff from your apartment in under an hour, putting everything in the already empty drawers and seeing how long Klaus had been waiting for you to move in with him.
~His siblings were very supportive, they had loved you since the moment Klaus introduced you to them, all loving how you calmed their brother in a way they had never seen before
•Elijah was sure from the moment he saw you that you were the redemption he had always believed existed for his younger brother and the moment you told him you were pregnant his heart soared.  Elijah loved his family more than anything else in the world and the idea of adding a new member to it was everything he could have hoped for since the day they found Freya.  He helped Niklaus with the nursery as much as his hybrid brother would allow before turning to you and being sure to check on you at least 45 times a day, sometimes 46.
•Freya was thrilled.  She was psyched at the idea of training a new Mikaelson witch, even if she had quite a few years to go before that, excited to see how happy her little brother was as he waited on you hand and foot, even when you needed nothing.  She put a silencing spell on your room for you so you could get some peace and quiet as well as a lock charm on the door that not even Klaus could break, much to his displeasure.  You didn't use it much but as the mood swings got worse you knew it would come in handy.
•Kol tried to seem indifferent and everyone thought he was, everyone but you.  You noticed how he watched you the next morning as you walked through the kitchen, Klaus was still in bed otherwise he would be the one watching you like a hawk so Kol took it upon himself, discreetly.  You hadn't had any morning sickness today and were actually hungry so you began making French toast for yourself, getting everything out and just as you cracked the shell, getting a smell of the raw eggs, your stomach turned and you gagged, turning to find a trash bucket right in front of you in your brother in laws hands.  You doubled over it, taking it from him and he took hold of your hair, pulling it up into a messy bun.
•"Why don't I make the French toast for you Y/n, okay?  You go sit at the counter."
"Oh...thank you Kol, that's very helpful."  You washed your mouth out in the sink before drying your face and taking hold of the coffee pot when it was snatched out of your grasp.
"No you don't!  No coffee for the pregnant lady, I think Nik picked you up some juice at the store yesterday. Sit, I'll get it."  You were stunned but couldn't help your smile, nodding and hopping into the seat at the island counter.  At that moment you felt familiar hands around you and a kiss on your cheek.
"Good morning Little Wolf, how are you feeling?"  Apple juice was then set down in front of you by the youngest Mikaelson brother and you took a big gulp, seeing a shocked look on Klaus' face.
"I'm okay, Kol is making me French toast cause the smell of the eggs made me sick, isn't that sweet?"  Klaus snorted and Kol grumbled as he began frying the egg covered bread but you knew he was happy to do it either way.
•Rebekah was the only one who treated you no different, knowing you would prefer it like that.  The only difference she had was the shopping addiction, which in retrospect wasn’t really a difference, the only difference was the clothes weren’t for her. You had an outfit for EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. of your baby's first year of life by the end of the week.
•"It's all necessary Y/n."
"Rebekah, she'll grow out of them before she can even wear everything!"
"Well then you're just going to have to have more than one!"  With that thought in mind Klaus was even happier, taken by the idea of breeding you full of another baby the second you gave birth to this one.  DAMMIT REBEKAH!
~If you thought Klaus was protective before, think again. He was down right POSSESSIVE now
•He took you to Starbucks later that week to get you a shaken tea with lemonade, your favorite drink that wasn't coffee as, like Kol, he refused to let you drink that anymore and he had sat you at a table while he went to grab your drinks.  A second later you saw a man before you, a coffee cup in his grasp and a bright smile on his face as he looked at you, commenting quickly on how gorgeous you looked today.
•"Isn't she just?  Pregnancy suits my lovely girl so much, just like your neck at a 90 degree angle is going to suit you if you don't get the fuck away from her right now."  The calm way he said it was the startling thing and the man was gone faster than you thought a human could be.
•He got irritated every time one of his siblings helped you with anything. He was distracted by the nursery he was painting so Elijah and Kol had been waiting on you practically hand and foot, and though it was driving you insane it was pissing Niklaus off.
•“She’s having my baby! Not yours! Stop doing my job!” You overheard him screaming at his brothers one morning, thinking you were still in bed and realizing Elijah had made you breakfast.
“Nik, they just want to help.” Rebekah defended, even though she found the whole thing comical.
“She’s my Omega, I’m supposed to take care of her-“
“And YOUR Omega is carrying OUR niece, we want to help. We’re not saying you can’t do it Niklaus, but you’ve been busy making sure your daughters nursery is perfect, let us assist while you do that.”
“Yeah, you can still take care of everything your Omega needs in the bedroom, we won’t take that from you.” Kol teased and you instantly knew that was your moment to come in, before someone gets injured.
“Good morning!” You shouted and everyone turned to greet you except your Alpha who was already facing his brother and just before he moved you shoved your way into his arms. “It was a joke Alpha, just a joke. Breathe.”
~Your Alpha was sure to warn every single potential enemy away from you, The Salvatore’s, Tyler Lockwood, the Bennett witch, Everyone!
•You had escaped one morning before anyone woke up, just wanting to go out alone and as you got to the grille and ordered your breakfast omelet full or cheese and bacon that you were craving you were joined in your booth by Damon Salvatore.
•“Omega.” He greeted, as if it was some kind of nickname.
“Call me that again and I will have my Alpha tear out your tongue and shove it up your asshole.” He rolled his eyes, but nodded none the less.
“Apologies. Look, I’m here to ask that you keep him on a shorter leash.” You looked up at him strangely as your plate was placed on the table along with your soda. “He’s threatening everyone left and right for doing absolutely nothing. Say what you will about how much we hate the Mikaelson’s but we would never hurt an Omega, let alone a pregnant one just to hurt them.” You knew Niklaus had spoken to them but you didn’t know it was to this extent.
“Okay, I’ll talk to him. However if I find out this is a lie I will kill you myself, I won’t need his help.” Damon nodded his head, jumping up and darting off quickly as you saw Nik run in with Elijah behind him, sighing in relief when he saw you.
“You can’t do that love, I thought you were hurt! What…was Damon here? I’ll kill-“
“Nikky. Stop. He told me how much you’re going out of your way to threaten them and I really don’t think they have an interest in me. Leave them alone. If you find out they’re up to something that’s different but stop trying to make people hate us more, it’s going to put our daughters life in danger even more.” He looked to be taking what you were saying to heart and you took his hand in yours. “Order something and have breakfast with me…and order me more hash browns.” He couldn’t hide his smile as you said this, going back to your food as Elijah flagged down the waitress, joining you as well.
~The day Klaus met his daughter he fell completely in love and you knew you would be having more children if not just to see that look on his face again.
•You had decided to call her Hope and everyone fell in love with the name.
•Your Alpha didn’t even want her to sleep in her crib and she didn’t. He laid her on your bed nestled safely in the pillows so he could tend to her instantly when she cried. When you finally put your foot down about her sleeping in her crib, you found him, quite often, not in your bed and sleeping on the floor in her room.
•He adored her, as did everyone and there was never a moment Hope wasn’t in someone’s arms.
•You had to throw a fit one day before everyone seemed to realize you wanted to hold your own baby, the scared looks on these Original vampires faces would have been funny if you hadn’t been so pissed. The apology you got later was one reserved for you, a genuine apology from your Alpha would be worth its weight in gold to anyone else but you demanded it and he knew it. It was the first night he slept in your bed all night, letting you tend to Hope when you heard her cry on the baby monitor.
•Your Alpha was happy. Truly happy, never believing having a daughter would be possible.
•“She’s gonna be a Daddy’s girl. Practically already is.” You told him, standing beside him as he stood in her doorway, watching her sleep.
“She’s going to adore you Little Wolf.” I nodded.
“I know, I’m her mom, she’d better but…I just figure we’re gonna need to try again if I want to have a little Momma’s boy, I’ve always wanted a son.” I admitted and he looked down at me, barely disguising the hopeful look on his face.
“Do you mean it? Really, you want-“
“I think we should get started right away.” I had barely finished the sentence when I was scooped off of my feet and hauled to our bedroom, right passed Elijah.
“We’ll start cleaning out another bedroom tomorrow, shall we?” He asked and as he slammed the door he shouted back.
“The room next to Hope’s will be perfect.”
Mikaelson Headcanons
Out of the siblings Rebekah is the only one that goes to fight first when confronted.
Finn, Klaus and Kol all tend to want to flee. This is one of the reason Klaus attacks first.
Elijah freezes, he knows this and has spent centuries trying to fix it but his work is always ruined when Mikael returns.
---
Finn, Elijah and Kol were together when they were turned, Esther explained it to them after.
Both Finn and Kol noticed the lost of their magic and took it badly, storming out. First Finn in horror who was then followed by Esther attempting to apologise, then Kol in a rage.
This left Elijah alone with the woman they had killed, someone he had grown up knowing his life.
Esther might blame everything he became on his accidental killing of Tatia, but she missed the night she left Elijah alone in shock with his true first kill.
No one was there when Elijah shuddered as he realised what he had done, as he stared at the blood.
Swallowed back bile as he tasted iron in his mouth.
---
Elijah does love all his siblings, he only worries about Klaus's humanity because he can still see the other's.
He saw Finn horror when they turned, was reminded of it every time he made a comment on their new lives after it. he may claim leaving Finn daggered was to spare him living the life he hated but Elijah knows part of it was selfish, he was tired of Finn's words making him feel even more like a monster.
Kol's rage at the loss of his magic was visible in every bloodbath he caused, but Elijah knew there was nothing he could do to fix it so he just tried to manage the worst, to lessen the aftermath to delay news to father.
Rebekah he knew would kill for them even before they were changed, Elijah wonders if he had let her kill father that night, if any of this would have happened, if she could have had the life she longs for. but he's never had a doubt over her humanity, sometime she causes him to doubt his own.
But Klaus, as Klaus changes himself into a monster that resembles the worst of the man now hunting them, Elijah tries to find any remaining specs of his soft sweet little brother, who would rather gather berries to paint with than sharpen a sword.
The few glimpses he get allows him to keep going as he places every monstrous act his brother does on his back.
Brother please.
Perhaps if Elijah had been a monster himself sooner, had struck father down, none of them would be so covered in blood.
