MORE SHELBY’S
when eden meets michael grey
1921
“Oh Michael, this is your cousin-in-law, Eden.”
Polly proudly introduced her to her son, she clutched him tightly as he sheepishly fiddled with the cufflinks of his cheap suit. Eden waddled in with the help of Tommy, her bump was getting big and she was ready to give birth in days, everyone knew it.
Arthur and John snickered once they saw the astonishment on Michael’s face. Their young cousin knew that Tommy, the head of the family had a wife, but she didn’t know what she looked like, every time he asked his mum… Polly, she answered, like one of the few people to rein your wild cousins in. It was the understatement of his fucking life, and Eden was truly a stunner.
“I can’t be that big can I?” Eden asked, with a smile. “Tommy, you said I wasn’t that big.”
“You look beautiful alright,” Tommy rushed out, with a hand resting on her back.
“She’s carrying another Shelby in there Michael,” Arthur nodded to his sister-in-law.
John clasped his hands together, “Here’s praying it’s a fuckin’ boy.”
“There’s already too many of you lot,” Eden scoffed, then stepped forward, feeling Tommy’s eyes on her as she stood before Michael.
“It’s nice to meet you,” he nervously shook her hand, immediately thinking he maybe should’ve kissed her cheek or hugged her but, his cousin didn’t look like he would let her go. “Another Shelby?”
Before she could respond, Arthur did.
“Apart from John’s kin, Ada’s little one, you've got another cousin, little ankle biter,” he teased, earning a small smile from his cousin.
“Inara, spittin’ image of Eden but with Tommy’s eyes,” Polly informed her son, as Eden sat down with Tommy assisting.
Their six-year-old daughter was about to be seven, inquisitive and cheeky she was, whenever Inara would get grumpy she’d look like her father but whenever she was lively and joyful she was the very picture of her mum.
“Yeah, she’s a brat,” John’s words made the married couple snap their heads in his direction.
“Oi, you don’t want to compare children,” Tommy pointed out.
“Not with your roster Johnny,” Eden quipped, making the room chuckle.
John rolled his eyes, “Fuck off.”
Eden pointed at him, “You do not want to rile me up, It could induce labour you pillock and I’m not givin’ birth here.”
“Yeah, leave it John boy, you do not wanna see a kid come out of her,” Arthur said through his laughter.
Tommy playfully glared, “Stop talkin’ about my missus and my baby.”
Michael sat back, amused by the bickering. As first impressions go, he was pleasantly overwhelmed, the men were playing with their guns like toys before Tommy settled them. It was obvious Tommy ran things, he was the one who Michael first met. Tommy was confidant, powerful and very dangerous, that was clear, but his wife was something else. A beautiful woman, but to put up with this family, she had to have something up her sleeve.
“Where is Inara?” Michael asked, breaking the arguments flooding the room.
“She’s with my mum,” Eden spoke softly, stroking her bump.
“‘Nara threw a strop yesterday, sayin’ she didn’t want another sibling,” John stated.
Tommy huffed out a smile, “Well it’s too late for that.”
“She’s fuckin’ gettin’ one,” Eden agreed. “You’ll meet her soon Michael,” for the first time she looked at the boy, really looked at him, she saw his eyes, the detail swimming in his iris’, “My god you look so much like your mum.” She found herself choking back sobs, missing the joy on Polly’s face but catching the shock flashing across Michael’s. “Sorry, anythin’ and everythin’ gets the tears flowin’.”
John wasn’t shocked, “Cried over some flowers dyin’ didn’t you Edie?”
“Watch it,” Tommy warned, rubbing a hand over her back as she wiped her tears.
“Last week it was a candle blowin’ out.”
“And next time it’ll be a knife in your face,” Eden snapped, groaning at their laughter.
Michael was startled by the threat.
“There’s my girl,” Tommy pressed a kiss to her cheek before she pushed him away. “Pol, can you boil the kettle,” he noted the pot of tea was bare as were the cups.
Polly nodded, knowing how much Eden drank during her first pregnancy, her second was even worse.
Michael gulped, although no one apart from Tommy caught it. The teen lowered himself into a seat as his mother scolded his cousins for their poor habits, claiming she didn’t want him to mirror them.
“You should meet Isaiah, he’s around your age Michael,” Eden said, sending a look toward Tommy. “It’ll be good for you to make a friend.”
Michael nodded, listening to whatever advise he could take, eyes darting between Eden, trying not to get caught looking at her too much, and so he would look toward his cousin Tommy, who stroked her large bump and then his mum who returned with a cup and the steaming kettle fresh from the fire.
He occasionally heard the mumbles from his other two cousins — Finn and Ada, he hadn’t met yet — John and Arthur snickered off to the side, still stood up as if they were waiting to leave.
“… friends, what’s the point? They might end up like Eden and Grace,” Arthur whispered, quite harshly to his younger brother.
John’s mood soured at the mention, “That bloody barmaid.”
They knew not to mention Grace around Eden. Their sister-in-law fought she found a friend ever since Enzo and Martha passed and Dorris moved to London, but was a huge mistake. The Irish Woman’s betrayal caused the hole in Eden’s heart to grow as did her paranoia.
Tommy felt he should’ve protected her more, but he trusted Grace as a friend, especially since he didn’t have many female friends. But it costed him a bullet to the shoulder.
Even with Lizzie, Esme and Dorris from a far he was wary about everyone who surrounded the family, even if they were family.
Tommy was constantly thinking. Always.
“That won’t happen with Michael. Isaiah is loyal, you’ve seen him, Eden practically raised the boy,” John said quietly. “He’s Jimmy’s son.”
“I ain’t worried, we just have to be careful, not everyone’s a friend alright,” Arthur muttered, knowing that Isaiah wasn’t the one he didn’t trust.
“But family is family.”
The two broke apart to see Tommy right behind them. They didn’t even hear him move.
“Fuck, Tom,” John cursed, eyeing him.
“Keep your bloody trousers on,” Tommy scoffed, “you ready to go?”
“‘Course Tom,” Arthur nodded, shoving John forward, “you need to wear a fuckin’ bell on ya.”
“Yeah, alright.” Tommy smirked, then turned back to to the table, to see Eden sipping on some tea with a pensive look on her face. He pressed a kiss to her head as he stared at his Aunt, “Make sure he treats my Edie well, Pol.”
“Get going,” Eden playfully shoved Tommy away just as he gave her a chaste kiss on the lips.
“Don’t worry Michael, we’ll be back to show you, what’s what,” John grinned.
Polly gasped, “You’ll do no such thing!”
“Let’s leave ‘em boys,” Arthur said, “Wouldn’t wanna ruin the tea party.”
That had John snickering.
Michael smiled, watching as Tommy scanned Eden again.
The pregnant woman waved at him, “Bye, my love.”
“Darlin’, stay safe,” Tommy didn’t want to leave her for too long. “The both of you, alright.” He was pulled away by his brothers as he nodded at the mother-son duo, “Pol, Michael.”
When the door slammed shut behind them, Michael coyly smiled at his mum.
“They seem nice.”
Eden and Polly laughed.
The latter spoke, “They’re anythin’ but.”
Eden agreed, “But they’re your family, so got used to it.”

Omg yes, Klaus returning to NOLA after finding out Marcel was alive and then struggling to have a natural relationship because of their greed for power but also their wanting to have family in each other. They had so many parallels and I agree with what you said about how they forced Hope into the plot to give him the exact same thing.
People do routinely say “Marcel isn’t a Mikaelson” which is both anti-adoption and I don’t doubt it’s coated with sly racism. They could’ve explored his dynamic with Kol, and why Kol hated him (it was obvious but still, that was put on the back burner). Marcel’s relationship with Elijah was strained due to Klaus’ possessiveness and fear of abandonment.
There was so much to explore with the family that we were given and adding that to the central plots, Ester, Dalia, Mikael, the Strix, the ancestors… I felt like the storyline would’ve been goated but nope.
This is not me dissing Hope at all, I like the idea of her character don’t get me wrong and I can’t analyse her fully because I block out season 5 and I haven’t watched Legacies. However, I do feel like they should’ve done more with the materials, like Henrik mentions of even how there were times that hinted to him being a wolf like Klaus. Like that boy was the catalyst for vamperism.
They destroyed Kol over and over again as if he wasn’t interesting and had the desire for magic and it would’ve been cool to see him trying to get it back as well as him being a vampire. They could’ve had him in more scenes with Bonnie or even had him take an interest in the Bennett bloodline, as it was the backbone of the TVD.
Finn… don’t get me started on how the fans judge him for simply not wanting to be a vampire and getting revenge for being abandoned and held hostage for 900+ years. His mind was deteriorating for centuries and everyone calls him a bore… he’s one of the most sympathetic family members to me.
And yes, Klaus’ bio dad should’ve stuck around more, it would’ve been interesting to see how Klaus would’ve acted or reacted to Ansel’s characterisation, and vice versa. Ansel’s reaction to the family’s history/ dynamics. Even giving him some tips on being a dad and seeing that being pushed onto Marcel. Ansel helping Klaus at accepting his wolf side because it seems like he repressed it and often mocked it at times because of others and Mikael.
At times I felt like they gave the Hayley most of the Wolf plots… I didn’t care about the wolves in general but considering Klaus was one of the main characters, it would’ve been cool to see him navigate being both a vampire and werewolf.

Kol is such a baby in this scene and I love him for it. Clearly, Klaus can't resist how adorable he is either.
Another reason to resent Julie, because imagine if The Originals was actually about the family becoming whole again...

Anyways, SHIP CAROLINE AND TYLER!
Saw someone say they were angry at Caroline for not fighting for Klaus during TVD.... DUDE SHE OBVIOUSLY WASNT GONNA FIGHT FOR HIM. HE was the one courting HER. And during that courtship he tried to kill her twice, killed her boyfriend's mom and had previously killed her best friend and her aunt. SHE WOULD'VE BEEN A FOOL TO NOT BE SCARED OF HIM. like wtf? Caroline isn't stupid. She was and I quote "intrigued" but before she could ever give him a chance he had to show actual GROWTH and earn her respect because she knew her value (obviously she lost sight of it when she started dating stefan)
One of the things that makes Klaroline so good is the fact that she never pretended he was something he wasn't. She always called him out and never compromised her morals for him. She stayed true to who she was and he fell for her anyway and he changed on his own accord. That's why they work. Because she knows who he is and when he was a villain she treated him as such and expected him to act as such and when he wanted to be" friends" with her (after 4x14 when he realized he would never be able to kill her or harm her again) she explained what she expected of him and she wasn't gonna settle for less. AND SHE DIDN'T! She wasn't swayed by pretty things or pretty words. SHE WAS SWAYED BY ACTIONS

I wish they removed the pregnancy plot (I like hope btw!) but I wish they could’ve focused more on the family as a whole. I understand that they wanted to show generational trauma by Klaus having a child but he already had one (Marcel) and maybe if they focused on strengthening that dynamic it would’ve helped with the plot, especially for season 1.
Season 2 should’ve been about the Mikaelsons wanting their fallen siblings to be brought back, Kol, Finn, and have them discuss Henrik more. Of course, Freya returns as well so they can now adjust (there will obviously be tension) with an additional sibling.
I think as a show the originals worked but it always felt like there was something missing.

It's genuinely heartbreaking to hear Kat Graham talk about being the lowest paid cast member on the Vampire Diaries for 6 years. Kat deserved to be paid for her talent, especially considering the significance of her character. They used Bonnie for her labor to save the day and her heroics go practically unacknowledged with no real gratitude. The CW really didn't believe Bonnie Bennett had any monetary value and that Kat wasn't worth being paid for her work, while planning to replace her with a white blonde character (Liv Parker).
They took advantage of Kat's poverty to pay her nothing in comaprison to her peers. While she was just happy to be paid in that moment, this shit impacts black women daily. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, on average, Black women were paid 58% of what non-Hispanic white men were paid in 2020. Will these people responsible for underpaying Kat be held accountable? No, but they should be.

LETS GO SHOPPING!
carson drags brian to the mall!
WARNINGS: mild mature content
(This would’ve taken place after their first date)
—-
“Come on, this one,” Carson pointed at Victoria's Secret, earning a wide eye look from the man. “What? You embarrassed?”
Brian shook his head, “Not embarrassed.”
“Then what? You should see the store where I buy lingerie you rip off.”
He couldn’t help but chuckle, “I said I’d replace it.”
She nodded at the store, “Now you can.”
He made a face, “You sure you want me to come inside?”
Carson childishly smiled at the entendre.
Brian playfully rolled his eyes, “Be serious.”
“I am, I want you to come with me, please,” fluttering lashes and pouty lips were all it took for the man to nod along. “Thank you, baby.”
“Wait,” he tugged her against him, keeping a firm grip on her waist and he pulled her in for a fierce kiss, less than a second went by before she reciprocated the action. Tongues lapped and lips glided over the other, leaving them breathless after he begrudgingly pulled away. “Now we can go.”
“What was that for?” She wiped any excess gloss from his lips and followed his intense gaze to see a group of guys who were once checking her out, groaning and turning away. She had to smack Brian’s check a couple of times to get him to snap out of whatever jealous fit he was in. “Stop, you made your point.”
His glare didn’t fade but his arm snaked around her shoulder as they neared the infamous lingerie store.
They were handed a basket the moment they walked in, not before one of the workers stared at Brian, shocked that he was there.
Men rarely were seen in the store and if so they were security, nevertheless the rest of the staff tried not to let their gaze linger on the blue-eyed beauty, especially not with how Carson stared them down.
“Now who’s the jealous one,” he mumbled in her ear, amused by her annoyance. It was cute, adorable even. “I love it.”
“Shut up and help me,” she scoffed lightly and brought him passed the brief section.
Brian kept his arm around her, confused by the things that surround him despite seeing it on a women in the past he didn’t wanna accidentally knock something over.
“How?” He didn’t know what to do with himself.
“Just if you see something tell me.”
He nodded then sifted through what was on display.
A smirk tugged at his lips when he rounded one of the tables and picked up a crotchless thong.
“How ‘bout this one?”
Carson wasn’t fazed in the slightest and that’s what had him stunned.
“I’ve got a few at home.”
Brian dropped the thong and practically raced towards her.
“And how come I didn’t know about this?” He whispered-yelled at her.
“You do now,” she playfully pushed him back as she tossed a few rose-coloured g-strings in the basket.
“And will I get to see them?” Brian wasn’t letting this go.
Of course he’d seen his girl in a plethora of two-pieces, lingerie and thongs both on purpose and accident but he hadn’t seen something like this. His pants tightened at the thought.
She winked at him, “If you’re lucky.”
“Quarter mile?”
Carson snorted, “You’re gonna race me to see me in some thong.”
“We’re gonna race so I can put it down whilst you’re wearing crotchless panties.”
“Don’t say panties. Just say thong and fine.”
She gathered what she wanted but Brian had to inspect, after all he was the one paying.
He picked them up from the folded pile she made much to her frustration and checked them out.
“It’s soft…this one’s lacy… and this one —“
“Blondie, you don’t need to describe every single one. Just give the lady the money so we can go.”
“Fine, but I wanna see a show of these. You brought me into this store and I gotta get somethin’ out of it,” he blurted as she tossed the rest of the items into the basket.
She clicked her tongue, frowning at the words he spoke, “Spendin’ time we me ain’t enough?”
“You know that’s not what I mean,” he tried explaining himself but she was already off leaving him to silently curse at the wind before walking over.
“Hi welcome to Victoria secret, how was your shop?” A chirpy cashier asked.
“Great, thank you, he’s payin’,” Carson mustered up a smile and motioned to the blonde next to her.
“Lucky. I wish I had a sugar daddy.”
Brian had never felt so offended and to make matters worse Carson just laughed.
“I’m her boyfriend,” was all he had to say, passing a 100-dollar bill over to the woman who cringed.
“Sorry,” the cashier went to hand over a 50-cent coin but he refused.
“Not a problem. He’s older than me so I understand the mistake,” The Baker racer quipped, allowing the woman to calm slightly.
Brian cast Carson the biggest glare, which she shrugged off when the cashier held out the bag, the receipt and with a friendly smile.
“Bye, I hope you enjoyed your stay.”
“I did, thank you,” Carson waved the woman goodbye as Brian trailed behind her and out for the store.
“You seriously that mad at me? You’re gonna start tellin’ people I’m your sugar daddy now?”
“Well since the boyfriend label isn’t important to you…”
That made Brian reach out to gently grab her arm, “When did I say that?”
“Since you gotta get somethin’ out of spendin’ time we me,” Carson mumbled shrugging out of his grip.
Brian sighed, “You know that’s not what I meant.”
“It sucked hearin’ that,” she explained, looking anywhere but his baby blues.
“I’m sorry,” and he truly meant that.
He hated when she was upset or not herself and it hurt more when he was the cause of it.
“Mmm, now is there anywhere you wanted to go?” She questioned, avoiding his gaze.
“Nah I’m good. Are you?” He pressed, worried that he ruined their day and judging from her pout he did.
She hummed, “Fine.”
Brian sighed, softly grabbing her chin, and pulling her gaze to his. Even after a week of dating, he knew how to manage her little hissy fits, just like she knew how to deal with his jealous moods.
“Baby.”
She subconsciously leaned into his touch, “What?”
“No matter what we do is worthy of my time and attention even if it’s just nappin’ together," he proclaimed, making her eyes soften.
“…okay.”
“Okay?” A grin pulled at his lips when she nodded and his hand settled on her cheek.
“Yes okay. I might’ve been overreactin’ a little bit.”
“Nah, your feelings are valid. Just don’t let people call me a sugar daddy again.”
“I won’t,” she said through her laughter. “My sexy man.”
He chuckled and pecked her lips a few times.
“That’s right. Now let's end this shopping trip and go to your place. Wouldn’t want anyone interrupting us," he mumbled, taking her hand and started walking.
“And what will be doin’?” She teased, little heels colliding with the mall floor, trying to keep up with his strides.
“You’re puttin’ on a show.”

Okay listen I know we all love Malakai here and of course so do I but can we at least acknowledge that he did Amerie dirty before their breakup. Like he was struggling with his sexuality and thats totally valid but he did not handle it well and yea he did gaslight Amerie about it, he did give her the world's mixedest signals, he third wheeled her on their own date to the guy he was into, like Amerie isn't perfect by any means but can we at least all understand that he did not treat her okay

It's so apparent how this fandom views characters. Spider dedicated his whole personality to bullying a young Indian woman, because she rejected him after their 1 fail night where he couldn't get it up; he lead the charge of the incel rebellion; and when he finally got a girl he still angrily shamed her on stage because his fragile male heart was broken but it's excused because his mom is the wrong kind of feminist. Malakai got assaulted, which the show never acknowledges while Harper is cuddled and coddled (when her next series fate should have been never being friends with Amerie again; she can be present and happy, but they never should have rekindled their friendship). When you bring it up, people will act like it isn't important to his own character trajectory unlike Spider's. Then, Sasha, an Asian character, is deemed as the worst of all villians because she just so happened to hurt the show's most sunshine of all characters, but she isn't even that bad in the grand scheme of things nor the worst character on the show, just ignorant that could be corrected if they actually took the time to develop her this season like they made it sound, WHICH falls in line with Spider-woman hater-who apparently was made that way because his mom hates men, but oh that's right we love Spider.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
Someone please explain to me why "stans" are going after the actors again. ESPECIALLY THE ACTORS OF COLOR? Fabien is getting garbage on his socials again. Bethany is getting death threats. Give me a fucking break, this is ridiculous.
This is a SHOW. These characters are FAKE.
Ya'll need help because you obviously cannot separate fiction from reality anymore. Fucking wackjobs.

Mr Speaker, I was raised in a family that endured living conditions that would test the morality of even the most virtuous. Indeed ... indeed, even the best of us would have their virtues trounced and thwarted by a life in the meanness and the bitterness of an overcrowded British slum. - What would you know about virtue?
