♪ listening to: love language - ariana grande
Tumblr media
PHYSICAL TOUCH
“big spoon or little spoon?”
there was silence before he answered in a low voice. “little spoon,” he laughed.
... pato likes to hug you when you sleep, it has become a habit for the both of you when you're sleeping and there's pato hugging you from behind and spooning you.
he usually is a proud big spoon-er like usual, but his behavior lately got you wondering: what is happening to him?
“can i be there?” he said one day as he's spooning you, making you arch your brow in confusion.
“be where?” but before you can even question further, he flipped you over, so you face his back, making him the small spoon instead of you.
“baby!” you laughed as pato quickly grabbing your hands to hug him from behind. “i like this. it's warm.” he dug his face to the pillow.
You tightened your hug on him while making yourself comfortable being a big spoon and hugging him from behind. “you're right, i think i might liked this one too.” you mumbled, kissing the back of his neck.
Tumblr media
SQUEEZING YOUR HAND THREE TIMES
... everytime when you were with him, you're always holding his hand.
no matter what occasion you're in, you're always holding his. it's now becoming a habit when you're with him as when you hold his hand, and he's holding your hand.
you and pato have a habit where the both you will hold each other's hands and give them three squeezes to sign love.
“i love you,” he squeezes your hand when you're crossing the streets.
you smiled and squeezed his hand back, “i love you too.”
Tumblr media
FOREHEAD KISSES
... forehead kisses is his favorite kiss of all. but not that he's going to say no to the any other one, but his forehead kiss to you is so far going to be his favorite to do.
not only because it's a simple gestures to express his love, gratitude and appreciation, but also it's his common act for saying ‘thank you’, ‘i miss you’, and even ‘i love you.’
and for that one time after he's winning the race, he's quickly to open his balaclava and ear protection, and only to come and approach you afterwards in the garage.
“congratulations for your win, honey, you deserve it!” you squeals, hugging him tight right after you see him entering the garage. “aw, thank you, cielo.” he kissed your forehead after the hug was ended. earning a bunch ‘aww’s from the mechanics and staffs, including david who's the one just entered and watched the whole moment.
“that's really sweet, you guys,” one of the mechanic said and he smiled as he embraced you to his side, kissing the side of your head soon after.
Tumblr media
BREAKFAST IN BED
... serving breakfast in bed to you is a must-do activity to spent with you (or for you) during his break. it doesn't always have to be on weekends, but on some occasions, breakfast in bed is something that he likes to do to fill his time when he's off racing.
and in some point in every morning, he's always serving you a warm delicious breakfast to enjoy in the morning with his company.
“wake up, princess, i got you something special.” he whispered to your ear as the delicious smells going through your nostrils and immediately wake you up.
so you woke up with a tray of a delicious stake of pancakes, a bowl of mixed fruits, and a mineral water to hydrate you after you wake up. it's literally the perfect way to wake up in the morning.
“thank you, honey.” you kissed his cheek as he giving you the glass of water for you to take. “you're welcome, cielo.”
Tumblr media
GIFT GIVING (& SURPRISING YOU WITH IT)
... not only physical and some romantic gestures, pato also likes to buy you gifts. no matter how expensive it is, he's always buying you something that you want. or not.
“happy anniversary, darling girl.” he said while carrying a gift bag in his hand. “but it's not... our anniversary just yet,” you stuttered, not at all expecting what he was planning.
"i know, but open it. this is my gift to you.” he kissed your lips afterward, making you even more curious about what he was gifting you. you took out the contents of the bag, the box, and finally a cloth wrapper through it and leaving his eyes looking sparkling, definitely waiting for your reaction for it.
you gasped as you revealed the real content of the box, “a serpenti tubogas bvlgari watch? where did you get this?” he giggled when he saw the look on your face. "how about it, that's good, right?"
"good?! i love it! how did you know i wanted this for so long?” your voice high as you're squealing, your face lighting up with joy, but he just smiled, "i definitely know." he murmured, pressing a kiss to your forehead once more, then to your lips.
“i love you so fucking much, patricio. i can't wait to see the more of you” you started to interrupt the kiss, which was only answered with a playful groans from him, making you giggle. “i love you too, y/n.” he whispered to your lips as he resumed the kiss who will turned into something more.

QUALITY TIME
... last but not least of his usual routine for everyday is to spending time with you for whatever reason it is.
it can be just for going to the gym, running, watching netflix, doing a self care together, shopping, playing with his dogs or go to the fashion week together, that's all in.
but not only that, he also often does other activities with you, such as cooking his favorite food in his kitchen, or pretending to be a chef, for example;
“oh yes, mister patricio, get me a pinch of salt, please.” You spoke like an Italian chef cooking pasta, making him laugh out loud when he heard you speak with that accent.
“i'll get it right away, my cooking partner.” he responded by speaking with the same accent as you.
“no, i am a chef (🤌), mister patricio.” you said making the hand gesture at him, making him laugh harder and then ended up coughing because of his loud laugh.
“that's brilliant! ah, i've never heard you saying things like this before. that's really funny.”
“so where's the salt, mister patrici—”
“let's get back to normal shall we?”

I’m so braindead - but only for my specific fan interpretation of Megastar where it started off as an incredibly passionate romance.
Starscream genuinely believed in Megatron and gave up everything for his cause. Megatron had fought so fucking hard and suffered so much to reach where he was - but still respected and cared for this brilliant, mouthy seeker-prince who started a revolution with him and let Megatron brand his pretty wings.
But then the war drags on.
And on.
And on.
And on.
All too quickly, their sweetness turns sour. The first time Starscream tries to kill Megatron (after one of his trine mates gets seriously injured because all Megatron cares about in every fight is Prime-Prime-Prime), they haven’t fragged in vorns. The first time Megatron answers with fists, beating Starscream to pulp, they haven’t kissed within a cycle of their memory-cores.
After that, there’s no going back. Everything degrades. Ideals. Morals. Love. Somehow, they both wind up here: clawing against each other for power, no longer caring about building a better world or freeing Cybertron from oppression.
Cybertron’s gone. Their gods are dead. All that’s left are the Autobots - possibly the only thing in the universe that Megatron and Starscream detest more than each other - and the need to win.
And so, they stay together - for better and for worse. Until at last, there is an end. One neither of them truly expected to survive.
But here they are, in the aftermath.
Megatron: redeemed, retired, quieter and more thoughtful, haunted by the weight of his wrongs yet determined to strive towards the better future he once fought for, with a new Autobot brand on his chest.
Starscream: bitter, damaged, backstabbing his way up to be ruler of Cybertron, simultaneously desperate to rub his victories into Megatron’s face and praying he never, ever sees him again.
They both remember all the ills they perpetuated against each other. Starscream’s betrayals. Megatron’s abuse. They both have far too much baggage to ever return to what they were: hopeful young mechs at the start of the war, who looked up at the sky and thought they could catch every star. But still, they understand each other like no one else. And there is no one else, not really.
Their paths converge, eventually. Some Cybertronian function, Autobots and neutrals. Starscream wears his crown - of course he does, and the cherry-red paint on his wings is polished to a mirror. Megatron, in contrast, would fade into the background, still in his miner grays - if not for the breadth of his shoulders and the quantity of old, cold energon that stains his claws. They pass each other, without looking back. They don’t exchange a word. They pretend not to see.
“You alright, Star?” murmurs the ghost of a little gold Autobot.
“Megatron? Everything okay?” Rodimus asks.
“Shut up,” hisses Starscream, under his breath. Straightening the crown magnetized to his head. “I’m perfectly fine!”
“Yes,” says Megatron, heavily. “I’m fine.”
They continue to move away from each other, through the crowd. More distance between them, in everything but spark-space. Painfully, achingly aware of each other’s presence. Unable to let go. Unable to move on.

Katniss Wants Kisses: Bonus!
Here is a bonus from the Katniss Wants Kisses series. This is Peeta's POV after Part 4 and through to the end of Part 6.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Read on ao3
I know I must look like a nightmare. And it’s not even that I had any of those last night. I’d been too wound up from that kiss to get more than some fitful half-sleep. One moment it was making me hot and sending blood away from my brain (how I got in that stupid position in the first place) and the next I punched my pillow and screamed out. I have to admit, what she was doing was brilliant. Dangle the thing I want most in front of me and use the hope to have it to keep me from going into the arena.
Only there’s one thing I want more than Katniss’s kisses. I want–I need –for her to get out of that arena alive. If I don’t do that, my life will have meant nothing.
And so I wait in the dark for the man who was once my rival and now has become an ally. But we have the same mission and there’s no one else I trust more to help me than him.
Gale comes out of his house in his miner’s jumpsuit and his hardhat under his arm. He sees me across the way and comes over.
“Katniss again?” he asks.
I nod. I haven’t gotten into specifics with Gale about the change I’ve seen in her. Haven’t talked about the way her eyes follow me, the unexpected touching, the way that she’s acting just like she did in that cave to keep us alive. I just told him that I know she wants me to stay out of the arena and I need his help convincing her to use all the advantages she can to stay alive, including my own death. I need him to be a reminder of who she has to come home to: her best friend.
The man she loves.
“I’m going to bring her by the mine entrance at the end of the day,” I say. “For you two to spend time together.”
“She wouldn’t even look at me at dinner on Sunday,” Gale says. “She’s getting ready to die.”
“No,” I say. “She can’t.”
“I want her to live,” Gale says with forcefulness. “If she’s planning on sacrificing herself for you, maybe she’ll ease up if you agree to let Haymitch go in. Maybe that’s the only way she’ll try to win.”
“Snow won’t let the both of us out,” I say. “If I’m not dead, she will be. They can manipulate the Games to make sure she doesn’t get out. I’m not risking her life.”
“And you think I need to convince her to let you die?” Gale asked.
“We’ll both do it,” I say. “I’ll talk to her on the way to the mine. You just need to remind her of the life she’ll have once she comes back.”
“By doing what?” Gale asks. “She’s stubborn, there’s no point in trying to argue with her half the time.”
“No, don’t argue!” I scrub my face. “Just…relax. Have fun. Let her think about how life will be when she gets back.”
Gale shakes his head. “She’s going to be broken. She’s not like she used to be still, and going through that again…”
“I know,” I say. “Which is why you need to prove to her you’ll be able to handle it and help her once she gets back.”
“Okay,” Gale said. “If that’s what she needs, I’ll do it.”
Some tension in my shoulders slides off. This is what I need to hear.
“Thank you,” I say. And I am grateful for him now, the boy Katniss was meant to be with. Together, maybe we’d keep her safe. Me in the arena, and him for the rest of her life after.
It’s later in the afternoon when I stop by Katniss’s house to knock on her door and ask her to go on a walk. Her eyes have widened at the sight of me and she quickly goes to get her hunting jacket and we walk side-by-side down past the gate, where the remaining patches of snow turn a darker shade of gray the further we walk.
Finally, I gather up the courage to say what I brought her out here to say.
“I know you want Haymitch to go into the Quell with you,” I say.  “And you know that I’m planning on going in there.”
She draws herself up and starts, “Peeta–”
“I’m not here to fight with you about that,” I interrupt. “I’ll make my plans, you make yours, and we’ll see what Haymitch decides to do. But what you’re doing–it’s not fair.”
It feels good to get it out, confront her directly about it. Because this past week as been torture, turning her down again and again, but the whole thing wasn’t like I wanted it to be. And it might seem too inconsequential to be upset over why Katniss wanted to be affectionate now, but even if I’m going to die, I have a right to live my last few months with some self-respect.
“And what exactly am I doing?” Katniss asks, and she seems genuinely confused.
“Come on, Katniss. The massage? The kiss?” I say, but her eyebrows only climb higher in a question as I talk. So I explain, “You’re trying to give me hope of what we could be, if I let Haymitch go in and you win. To convince me to stay behind.”
“ What ?” she asks, and now I’ve offended her. She looks me up and down, and yet there is an understanding dawning on her. She emphasizes, “I’m not doing that.”
“Then what are you doing, Katniss?” I ask, but all I get in response is a shrug.
Wet dirt sticks under our boots as I guide us toward the west mine entrance where Gale works. I try to sort out why Katniss has suddenly changed. Clearly, it has something to do with the Quell because she didn’t act like this–at least not with me–at all unless we were doing an act. So then… why?
Yet as we come up to the mine entrance, passing by weary workers with black and gray faces and clothes, I know it doesn’t matter. Whatever Katniss’s reason, I’m not the one who should be getting her embraces or kisses. Gale is. Gale, whom she’s thrown aside in order to protect me. Gale, whom she still loves and I’m guessing can’t face knowing she plans to save me and leave behind everyone else. And she’s just redirecting that need for affection onto me. For...comfort? To alleviate her own guilt? I'm not sure.
Katniss suddenly halts in the middle of the path and I stop shortly after. Miners move around us like water around a rock.
“Why are we here?” She asks defensively, chin tilted down in a question.
“Reminding you that you have a future,” I say. Because that’s what she needs to see. Even if Katniss, in her infinite need to protect those around her, thinks that dying for me will be doing me any favors, that it isn’t true. What I need is for her to live and be happy.
Tall, striking Gale is easy to pick out even among the coal-blackened faces. I turn to look at Katniss, who has a serious, contemplative look on her face and the parts are coming together. My insistence on her living. The chance she has at a life with the one she really wants, not the one she feels obligated to protect as part of her own personal rebellion.
And I walk away. I’ve done what I needed to do, to put Katniss right and insist she redirect whatever is going on back to the person who should be receiving it.
I’ve been carrying a boulder in my chest since that day on the train tracks, when I realized Katniss had done what she did in the games to keep us alive. Sometimes I can ignore it, but other times I feel its weight press all the more heavily on my chest. When Katniss said we should get married as part of the act. When Gale’s whipping made it abundantly clear who it was she loved. And for some reason, even now.
I go home and heat up some dinner. Eat in the silence. Watch the darkness fall around the district, all outlines of trees and the mountains in the distance. Go back to what my life is. And in a way, leaving this behind is okay. After all, there’s no one in my house who needs me, for shelter or food or comfort. They can all get by fine without me.
Water runs over the singular plate and fork as I clean up, and I take a little longer than I need to just to feel the warm water running over my hands, a pleasant luxury that came at the cost of my life.
The glass window behind me rattles with a knock and I jump, not expecting any visitors. When I turn, I see Katniss’s pointed face illuminated by the yellow artificial light from my kitchen and I almost hope I’m losing my mind instead of it actually being her outside. She should be with Gale right now, helping him clean the coal dust from his hands and he should be holding her in his arms. She shouldn’t be here with me.
I wipe my hands across my apron and go to answer the door for her expectant face. She takes one eager step toward me when I open the door.
“Katniss,” I say, tired. I’ve given this everything I have, but she just won’t give up. Keeping her at a distance is harder than winning the Games.
She lurches forward and closes her mouth over mine, warm and sweet and entirely absent of the dusty taste of coal. It’s not supposed to be me , I think. But here she is, stubborn and insistent and I can’t hold back any long. As soon as I gather her up, she lets out a little trill of delight and encircles my neck, pulling us closer together in a vise of refusal to let me go.
I release her lips and inch back, to pause from where this is going. Her eyes are still half-closed as I look down at her, lips red with our kiss. There are no cameras here–or at least none that will broadcast this to Panem. And I opened the door for her to go with Gale, yet here she is on my doorstep, hands so clenched together around my neck I might wear her like this for the rest of our days. For some reason, despite everything, she’s come to me and she’s kissing me like this again.
I’m caught up in it, even as I know this is a bad idea, and I kiss her again, to a little trill of excitement in the back of her throat. I take a step back but don’t let go of her as I guide us into my kitchen and shut the door behind us.
My brain is muddled as I kiss her, delirious in delight and punched with guilt. It’s not supposed to be me , I think again. If she chooses me, then she’s choosing death… but she’s choosing me . I have to take a step back so I separate us again, then reassure her with a pepper of kisses on her mouth.
“Have you eaten dinner yet?” I ask, partly to slow things down but also because she couldn’t have walked to the Seam and back here and had a meal at some point. She must be hungry.
“No,” she says.
It’s a good reason to give us some distance, too. I retreat to the refrigerator to dig up some of the chicken pot pie I’d made for dinner.
“I have some leftovers,” I say. “Probably cool now, but we can heat it up.”
I pull out the pie, turn the oven on to warm up, get a plate out, and then scoop out a muscle-building portion onto it.
“I don’t need that much,” she protests. I’m surprised by this. Katniss never turns down a generous serving of food and she needs it more than ever now.
“Of course you do,” I say. “We’ve gotten our calories and nutrients all mapped out.”
I ignore her concern and stick the dish in the oven to warm. Katniss has been acting…strange. Ever since that push-up incident especially, she hasn’t quite acted like herself. And I hope she isn’t trying to sabotage herself. Surely she wouldn’t do that, even if she does want to save me?
When I’m near Katniss against the kitchen island, I put my hands at her waist, nearly touching for how small she is, and look at her frame. She’s slight but still firm with muscle, yet I worry about her gaining more. Nearly all her competitors will be bigger than her this time.
“You are still eating all of your calories, right?” I ask.
“What if I’m not?” She sticks out her chin and her eyes alight, her mouth stretched into a smile.
“Then I’ll have to watch you eat every day,” I say and move my fingers to tickle her side.
I’m rewarded with her laughter and a kiss. “What if I need a little more encouragement than that?”
I’m grinning like an idiot as I bring my arms around her and hold her to me, and she looks up at me with elated expectation. And then the guilt puts me in check. I don’t know why she’s doing this, and dammit, I know no matter what, this is going to mess up everything. It’s not supposed to be me.
“This is a really bad idea, Katniss,” I say. “There’s a million reasons why we shouldn’t.”
And as I say it, the fire in her eyes turns from delight to desire. “And one big reason why we should.”
I wait, breathless, for her explanation.
“Because we want to,” she says.
Could it be as simple as that? Wanting? Her gaze falls to my mouth and I’ve nearly lost all control at feeling her against my body, that little sweet mouth of hers so close. I move closer to her, slowly, still hesitating. Still concerned about just one part in all of this. My lips are nearly to hers and she’s tilting forward on her toes.
“I only want one thing,” I say, our lips whispering against one another. “No pretending.”
“None,” she agrees and then she’s had enough and presses our mouths together again. Only this time, she’s unrestrained and she’s worn away my defenses to where I’m no longer thinking about the cameras or the Quell, but just her. Her slight, strong body against mine, the smell of pine and spring air, the taste of her mouth and then her tongue as the appetizer of the lips leads into the main course. Each morsel she gives me is greater than any meal I’ve ever had and I have to step back before I gorge myself too quickly. Or, more likely, burn down my house.
I give her one more kiss after she whines and then remind her,  “Your food’ll be warm now.”
Once I retrieve her now-warm food and a utensil, she looks at the plate like eating will be a nasty chore.
“I’m not that hungry,” she says, eyes going to my mouth instead of the food.
I stick the fork out in front of me for her to take. “And yet you’re going to eat this whole thing.”
She swipes the fork from me and gets to eating, at first with a glower in my direction, and then her focus turns to the food in front of her. Not that I can blame her. My family’s chicken pot pie used to be an incredibly special dish, one we shared on New Years if we had the money for the chicken, otherwise it was simply a pot pie or substituted by squirrel meat instead. Now I can make it whenever I like.
She puts down the plate and fork once it’s all finished and I’m satisfied with the slight protruding of her belly from a good meal.
“Told you you’d eat the whole thing,” I say.
“Now dessert?” She holds my hand in hers and kisses it, looking up at me through her lashes and I know she’s not asking for cake. Shit, I never expected her to want me like this.
“Living room,” I choke out and kiss her once to tie us over until we can get more comfortable.
She nearly falls on top of me on the couch and we pick up where we’d left off, heavy in this luxury of about as private as we can get, only the Capitol bugs watching us. There are times when I get light-headed from not taking in enough oxygen that we pause and I hold her in my arms instead. Or when I kiss her neck and she lets out a little “ oh ” at the sensation, making me mad to lick her up. And the whole time, she’s not pretending.
One thing I won’t do, however, is derail our training. We have to get enough sleep, and our needed bedtime to get a (hypothetical) eight hours gets closes in on us. So I pull back and tell her her mother will be worried. She doesn’t let go of my hand, however, except to put her shoes and jacket back on, and pulls me along with her down the way to her house. I keep our last kiss short, but as her eyelashes flutter against my cheek, I think this good night kiss must be the sweetest of all.

I’m so excited to see your ship request open again and that you’re feeling well enough to be back from hiatus! I’d love to request a MotA ship if you could.
I was born and raised in Illinois in a small farmer/coal miner community so while I’m Midwestern, I sound Southern (and use words that make others cringe like crick instead of creek). I have a bachelors and masters in military history (concentration in world war one and did a dissertation over tunnel warfare) but work in the customer service realm because I love helping others above all.
Others describe me as bubbly, level-headed, positive, caring, deeply loyal, and outspoken when I see something wrong - even if it gets me in trouble (ie: Steve Rogers getting beat up for standing up for others). While I’m quick to stand my ground and fight for others, I don’t do the same for myself. I am told I have the patience of a saint in dealing with Karen’s or ridiculous people, but I grew up in an abusive home life so I try to be patient and give people the benefit of the doubt.. then when they’re gone, roll my eyes at a coworker and lighten the mood with a joke or two. Like any Midwesterner, I love talking and chatting with others whether it’s something lighthearted or serious.
I grew up playing baseball and watching it (go Cardinals and Brewers!). I love the sport itself but it holds a special place in my heart because it was the only time my Dad, sister, and myself could get away from any troubles we were facing as a family. When it’s not baseball season and I’m not with my friends, I’m out doing some photography for fun, taking a walk, reading a book, playing a video game, or watching a TV drama like One Day or Downton Abbey.
Thank you!!
hi! thanks for sending in the desc. for the ship!! 🫶🏼 I ship you withhhh...

Long Story…
Tumblr media
Summary: Orophin and Caladwen have a little adventure.
Caladwen leapt from tree branch to tree branch, sharp green eyes fixed on the ellon beneath her who was currently plodding along the muddy path pulling a cart behind him. The chilly air nipped at her fingers and the earth was left dampened by the recent rainfall. The rivers of Lorien were at their most productive, flowing fast and running deep. It had been Orophin’s idea to set off towards the creek bed and try to pan for gold as all the recent activity would have no doubt stirred up the sediment which lay below the water.
“Could use a little help here.” Her brother in law grumbled, the wheels of the cart having gotten caught in the mud for what must have been the fiftieth time that day.
Caladwen grinned, swinging upside down on a Mallorn limb by her ankles. “What’s wrong? The big, strong Marchwarden Orophin having a hard time?”
“I’ll show you a hard time, you elfling!” He smirked, muttering a hushed command to the tree she was hanging from, a vine promptly slithering out to fling her off.
“Oof!” She sat up from the bush she’d landed in, scowling at the smug face staring back at her. “Real mature.”
“You had it coming.” His eyes sparkled with mirth and he extended a hand to help her up. “Alright, let’s get the shovels. Again.”
Caladwen chuckled. “I love how you bought these with the intention of digging up rocks in the creek, but all we’ve done with them so far is excavate our cart from the mud.” She reached out and retrieved the two items in question, both Warden-grade shovels struggling not to bend under the thickness of the mud and already caked in grime.
“I’m just glad Rumil reminded me to grab them when I was headed out the door this morning. Nearly forgot.” Orophin panted, chucking away his third scoop of debris into the tree line.
“Eru forbid ‘tis one of us who should get caught in this stuff. It’s like quicksand.” It was now Caladwen’s turn to take up pulling the cart loaded with mining supplies, the elleth noticing the fatigue in Orophin’s arms.
“If the bounty in that river is half as plentiful as the dwarves say, the mud will be worth it.” Orophin was known to frequent bars run by dwarves, as he claimed they lead to more interesting stories to tell at the end of the night. Though his brothers certainly stopped finding this habit of his amusing after the time Orophin had come scrambling home in the early hours of the morning, hurrying to lock the door and constantly looking over his shoulder. As it turns out, the young fool had been so caught up in his cups that he’d spent all of his gambling money at the bar. And dwarves, especially the very greedy miner Orophin had played cards with that night, do not take kindly to not receiving their winnings. The dwarf spent two hours banging on their Tallen door and shouting curses at the ellon inside about what he was going to do if Orophin didn’t pay up. Haldir ended up having to foot the bill that night, and in turn Orophin earned a very long lecture about responsibility the next day as well as being put on paperwork filing duty for the following week to teach him a lesson.
But did that experience deter the willful ellon from returning to such establishments? Of course not!
“Haldir thinks we’re mad carrying on out here in the cold like this.” Caladwen’s heart clenched, already missing her husband. She thought back to Haldir’s soft blue eyes gazing up at her as he knelt to tie her boots this morning, draping his rainproof cloak over her shoulders as she walked out of the door. Even now she could feel his warm breath ghosting over her pointed ear, and hear his voice making her promise to stay safe in its usual gruffness. It made her long to be in his embrace once more, Caladwen focusing her attention on her fea to connect with the ever present reassurance of their soul bond. It was like having her skin kissed by the thin reys of the sun on a warm summer day; not overpowering, but just enough to feel its comforting presence.
“I’m sure he’ll warm up to the idea when we bring home the gold!” Orophin puffed his chest out confidently, and Caladwen could see that he had no intention of leaving the creek without his treasure.
Both elves stopped and turned to each other when they saw the steep slope that lay before them, terrain dotted with boulders and trees. It was the only way to get down to the water they realized with a shared sigh. Now, had it only been the two of them, this hike would have been no trouble. But unfortunately, there was no way they could make it down while pulling the cart.
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Orophin gave her a sly wink.
“No. Come on. No! Orophin!” Caladwen was now seated in the cart, Orophin standing behind it with his feet ready to give him a running start.
“It’ll be fine.” He assured her.
“Famous last words!” The elleth protested. “How are we even going to get it back up here when we’re done?”
“Meh, that’s our future selves’ problem.” Was the last phrase Caladwen heard before her world became a blur of colors zipping by as they rolled down the cliff, Orophin having pushed off and now sitting behind her. “Lean left!” He commanded between gritted teeth, struggling to throw his weight around enough to guide the direction of the cart.
“Look out!” Caladwen’s eyes went wide, seeing a huge tree only a few feet in front of them. “Need a plan here pilot!” Her voice was panicked, but also agitated by his lack of response.
They held their breaths and leaned in the opposite direction, just barely grazing the tree. Orophin was the first to burst out laughing when the shock wore off, Caladwen joining in with shaken hands.
“Woooo! Take that! We rule this mountain!” Orophin threw his head back, howling their victory.
“Uh… Orophin?” Caladwen’s shaking again.
“Oh no…” His eyes fall on the ledge in their path, approaching too fast to react. “Brace for impact!”
Instinctively, Orophin moved to cover Caladwen’s body with his own, wrapping around her to break her fall as the two were ejected from the cart. The wood splintered as it hit the ground below.
Orophin landed on his feet, carefully lowering her to the soil. “You okay Cali?”
“Yeah, I think so…” She panted.
“Haha! See? Told you we’d make it.” He patted her shoulder as he walked off to scavenge for their mining supplies which were now strewn about all over the bank. Eventually, everything was retrieved, and the wide array of tools Orophin managed to procure for their trip was truly impressive; old kitchen pans with holes poked into the bottom of them to act as sifters, a pick to scrape mud and moss off of potentially valuable rocks, and the aforementioned shovels. Lastly, each elf brought a pack filled with food, fresh water, and plenty of space to take home any treasures they might find. They eagerly leapt into the cold water, standing about waist deep as they began digging for handfuls of rock to sift through.
Caladwen stifled her laughter as Orophin nearly face planted trying to walk in the stream, his boots so close to getting sucked off of his feet by the mud. “You good?”
He immediately picked up on the sarcasm in her tone, gathering a clump of slimy moss from the end of his shovel and holding it in front of his face with a wrinkled nose. “Ewww… think fast!”
The elleth yelped as it landed in her already messed hair, overbalancing and landing in the stream. Sputtering, she scrambled to her feet.
“You look like the creature from the Black Lagoon.” Orophin chuckled.
“Who eats troublesome lads like you!” She couldn’t help but splash him to even the score.
Not having any luck in their current position, Caladwen decided to branch off and sift in a shallower section of the creak by the bank, perching atop a rock outcropping. Her eyes lit up when they caught sight of something interesting in the bottom of her pan.
“What is it?” Orophin’s ears pirked up.
“Not gold, but look at this beautiful wild clay!” She exclaimed, holding the chunk of clay, a marbled combination of orange and purple, up to him. “This would be perfect for making jewelry beads!” She set about collecting as much as she could, even happening upon a few patches of yellow clay, and wrapping the material in damp cloth before placing it in her bag. Orophin, for his part, was not able to locate any gold but collected a few unique small fossils embedded in rocks.
He was the first to notice the darkening skies, having learned through all his years as a warden that it would be unwise to travel given how intense the rainstorms have been in case of mudslides. “Let’s tuck in for the evening. I saw a cave about half a mile upstream.”
XXX
Caladwen and Orophin were eager to put their supplies down once they reached the mouth of the cave. The cart had been broken in the crash, leaving them to carry their tools along with the heavy packs. Caladwen built a fire and they left their cloaks and boots to dry by it, nibbling on lembas and relaxing in a soft patch of moss by the warmth.
“I’m bored.” Orophin groaned, apparently unable to withstand the lack of activity in the last five minutes.
“Hmm…” Caladwen tapped her chin thoughtfully, eyes wandering over the stalactites on the roof of the cave. “Want to play a game?”
“I’m listening.” He rolled over to face her.
She picked up two sticks from the surrounding area, dipping them into the charcoal and water mixture that had collected in puddles in the darker regions of the cave, creating a quill of sorts. “It’s called three line. You draw three arbitrary lines and the other person has to create a picture out of them.” She demonstrated by scribbling three lines on the cave wall, Orophin quick to follow. They switched places and proceeded to begin to craft an image using the abstract lines they were given.
“There. A masterpiece!” Orophin said ostentatiously as he unveiled his work.
Caladwen squinted. “What is it?”
He swats her playfully, his face a mask of mock offense. “A slice of cake!” As if it was obvious.
“Did it get run over by a horse?” She quipped.
He laughed. “Don’t blame me, they were your lines.” He leans over, looking at her drawing. “A sun?”
“You got it!”
Their night was filled with laughter, paining the walls with round after round of three line until they drifted off to sleep.
XXX
They must have been quite the sight, coming over the hill caked in mud and carrying supplies that were even dirtier.
“What… happened to you two?” Was all Haldir could muster as he leapt down from his watch tower to meet them.
“Long story…”

@rockheadcd asked : "Looooooo-ooooove—" can be heard from across the house, a different floor, even. Some moments later, he has manifested and is coming directly for his mans. "It's cold and rainy and I really want ramen—can we go out—Sunyshore has better ramen than Orebuuurgh," spoken and muffled, he must be craving soup.
Tumblr media
And there goes his focus, apparently, a half hearted sigh as he puts down his pencil and somehow still tries to fight off the smile inevitably tugging at his face. Volkner just can’t help himself— he loves this stupid miner too much to ever be upset at him, doesn’t he? That’s what he gets for picking this as his life. ( as if he’d ever ask for anything else, when this is what truly makes him happy and what he’s been wanting for so long. )
There is at least a second or two spent debating the idea in his head, pros and cons versus how much he wanted to just stay home under every blanket in existence and forget the very cloudy very cold world outside... and then he gives up as soon as the thought of Roark’s delighted face and wonderful smile as bright as the sun crosses his mind. Volkner may be just a little bit smitten for him. Just a tiny bit. A smidge, even.
“Fiiiiiiiine, you win.” As if the idea wasn’t tempting him too, putting oh so much effort into getting up and out of his warm, comfortable nest of blankets and pillows. He can grace his idiot with a kiss, at least, even when he’s the one doing all the sacrifices for him right now, clearly.
( and roark better reward him for this later, right? he’ll be waiting for it. as if a nice, cozy meal shared together wasn’t enough already. he just likes to be an ass like that, doesn’t he? )
“Well? Where do you want to go, then? I’d be up for some side of sushi with that. Sashimi is fine, too, though— well, I guess we’ll see when we get there, right?” Ah, guess Roark now has to treat him too, just to top things off. Unfortunately, Roark also picked this as his life. He better get moving before his man goes from asking to whining for some nice food, right?

There's absolutely not enough Mountain love in this fandom, so how about some HCs about the tall boi?
ASKS ARE OPEN! /// RULES
~~~
RANDOM MOUNTAIN HEADCANONS:
~~~
Tumblr media
~~~
· Mountain is tall, we all know that, but he’s got a heart of gold hidden behind his relatively reserved exterior. He’s not shy, but he’s quiet and contemplative before he speaks, which comes across as him being shy. In reality, he likes to be observant before he says anything to anyone.
· Most likely to remember someone’s birthday. In fact, he has birthday presents bought a month in advance for his favourite brothers, sisters and his ghoul band mates, even though they technically have a summoning day and not an actual birthday.
· If he does buy you a birthday present, you best believe its insanely thoughtful because of how good of a listener he is.
· His favourite siblings are often blessed with flowers and rocks with various meanings, and he finds solace in keeping crystals, minerals, and stones of all sorts in his room.
· With his horns, he smashes into the tops of the doors, regularly…honestly the clergy has had to spend so much money repairing the wooden doorways.
· Luckily for the clergy, he’s also very good with his hands and can repair most of the damages himself.
· Dewdrop uses him like a climbing frame for piggyback rides, and Mountain is too laid back to scold him, he simply goes along with his duties as normal, with the fire ghoul attached to his back.
· Defensive over his drum kit. He’s known to growl at anyone who goes near it.
· Him and Rain regularly host video game competitions! They’re pros at Mario Kart, be warned, and they will win. The losers are saddled with ghoul cuddle duty and food preparations.
· Biggest Dick
· Unlike some of the ghouls, he plays favourites, and he won’t often venture outside of his favourite siblings for his needs and comforts.
· He has a lot of hair under his mask and often needs help grooming it out of the way of his eyes. He’s like a soft big highland cow, too much hair and a big dopey face when he’s being brushed. He’ll thank you with hugs and smiles, maybe a little kiss.
· STRONG. If you need help lifting something, get this ghoul. He’s the backbone of the band in more ways that one!
· Please make him pies. He REALLY loves pies. All kinds… just not meat.
Soft nessian 🥺
This isn't soft soft nessian, but rather it was suppose to be soft nessian and then it ended up being this, which I don't mind.
This is actually based off of my own headcanon: Where Nesta learns the Illyrian language and doesn’t tell Cassian, so he has been saying heartfelt things to her without realizing that she understands him. I was going to do the last part of that where Nesta finally speaks back to him in Illyrian since that is an extremely soft scene in my head, but... I ended up doing like a first part. It feels like an intro to a longer fic but please don't ask for that.
~
Nesta listens to the sweet trill of his voice as the rolling r’s rumble through his chest. He won’t tell her what the words mean.
“Will you give me a hint?” She huffs.
Cassian hums a soft sound, shifting in his seat. Nesta raises her chin as if she can command him to tell her.
“It’s something that someone says,” he remarks plainly.
Nesta rolls her eyes, “Animal, mineral, or vegetable?”
Her mate grumbles under his breath.
He mumbles three words. They tumble out of his lips like rolling hills, and Nesta knows they mean something along the lines of Mother save me.
Mother save him, if he keeps this up.
Cassian likes playing this game, she finds. He calls for her in Illyrian, huffs in Illyrian, complains in Illyrian with his big buffoon voice. He crosses his big buffoon arms and he smirks, joking in Illyrian. And Nesta scoffs, crosses her arms, makes a great big show about being annoyed.
He thinks he’s good at this game, she knows, because he’s forgotten who he’s playing against. He likes watching her furrow her brows, pout her lips, her question after question. What do the words mean? He even likes when she gets frustrated. There’s a sadistic sort of gleam in his eyes, as if he’s categorizing every annoyed look just as she’s translating his every word.
Nesta is already winning this game of theirs.
Nesta already won.
He holds his tongue about what the words mean and Nesta takes lessons with Emerie. She’s been taking them since last March.
Cassian talks, rambles on and on, teasing her about not knowing his words. Maybe she learns, to bring him down a peg. Her knowledge is a little needle and his head is a great big balloon and Nesta learns because she wants to see his face as it pops. At least that’s what she’ll tell anyone if they ask.
It’s not because the language sounds like music and when he speaks she can hear a symphony in his voice and she secretly wants to tell him never to stop talking. It’s not because she’s secretly worried that he’s telling her some horrible truth. I don’t want to be with you. I hate you. I never wanted you. Nesta thinks of all manners of words in those first few months. It’s not because it’s the language of his people, his culture, and when they have children who boast like their father and sneer like their mother, she wants to know what stories to tell them, to sing them lullabies of flight.
But, Nesta learns more than the language in her pursuit of retribution.
When her eyes are heavy and she leans on his shoulder, Cassian kisses her on the head and calls her beautiful. When he’s cooking breakfast and she settles between his wings, softly trailing her finger down a vein while the bacon splatters, he fondly calls her witch. When he interrupts her reading, to soften her fury, he calls her his sweet song. My love, be patient today comes roaring with a sigh and some sarcastic tone when he comes baring some bad news.
When Cassian complains, when he gets angry, with those heavy sighs, and those dramatic gestures, the hand held to the brow, he sings her soft praises.
I love you. I’m grateful for you. I’ve never wanted anyone more in my life.
Nesta tries not to smile every time.
Nesta learns that Cassian is a big, romantic buffoon and he loves her so much.
Her favorite phrase is five syllables.
It means something like... you are my sky. Emerie explains each word in sequence, that there’s a phrase for love but that’s not what’s commonly used for people in love. Rather there are multiples phrases. You are my wings. You are my sky. I soar in your embrace.
He once explains that the wings of Illyrian are their pride, their joy. Nesta is the sky in which he flies in, the sun he reaches for, the moon he dances across, and he tells her this. Cassian tells her this and he smiles because he thinks he knows something she doesn’t.
Cassian shifts further on the couch. He grabs under her bent knees and pulls her towards him. He mumbles five syllables as he kisses her shoulder.
“Why won’t you tell me what it means?” Nesta pleads, crossing her arms as if she’s perturbed.
“I said you’re annoying,” Cassian speaks, kissing at her nose.
Nesta likes playing this game, so she punches him in the shoulder, demanding to know.
if each smurf ship where standing under a mistletoe how would they react? 🤔
just curious
I'm going to assume you mean mine and not every ship in the fandom, that would take a while! As for mine, I won't go through every bg ship because a lot are simply filler, but I'll go through my main ones and some secondary ships for you! ^^
DonxSomebody:
Pretty typical of every other aspect of their relationship tbh XD Don attempts to act all swoony, Somebody pretends to roll his eyes but chances are he'll make the first move and sweep him off his feet >:) Then Don can swoon for real~
FarmerxTailor:
So this was touched on in my recent fanfic, heh. Farmer is a hopeless romantic and tends to get a bit flustered, even though he says it's his favourite winter plant because of the connotations. Farmer may be a grown Smurf but he still giggles like a schoolboy if the opportunity arises. Tailor knows this, and loves it, though he does have to stand on his tip toes most of the time XD
HandyxClumsy:
You'd think Clumsy would be fairly chill by now having already been in a previous relationship in my hc's but the truth is he's still a bit nervous at heart. Clumsy's ears tend to go a bit pink when he's embarrassed so stick a sprig up somewhere and it'll happen. Handy finds it adorable but doesn't want to embarrass him, maybe a quick peck c:
TrackerxDreamy:
Tbh it's sort of hard to get Dreamy AWAY from mistletoe in December. He sees a bunch of green anywhere on a doorway or tree and he's off for maximum smooches. Of course that's not particularly difficult to do when Tracker is the village forager so they get to spend a lot of time in the woods. Kind of a win-win situation, for Dreamy certainly
PainterxPoet:
If they could stop painting/writing an ode to mistletoe they'd probably eventually get under it. /j but it's somewhat a typical dramatic affair for them. High chances of them reciting a bunch of overly romantic nonsense to the other whilst a queue forms behind them urging them to get on with it already XD
BrainyxGutsy:
Brainy finds this whole thing highly illogical. Actually, did you know that mistletoe is technically a parasite? It's true! The plant steals from- oh, he's being kissed now? Well that's nice, about time he got some well deserved attention
VanityxGrouchy:
Grouchy says he hates mistletoe. Turns out, he does not.
MarcoxTuffy:
Tuffy refuses to go anywhere near it ... at least, while people are watching. If the room is empty or everyone is preoccupied then he brings out the puppy dog eyes until Marco gives in, possibly playfully holding it out of reach but it's only to tease
GreedyxLazy:
Honestly pretty simply in the best way possible? Lazy is rarely standing anywhere if he can help it though but on the rare occasion it occurs he'll give a sleepy lil' smile c:
JokeyxHarmony:
Harmony has become very cautious of this tradition due to an exploding mistletoe prank one year. And the year after that. And the year after that. Luckily the year after that he got a normal sprig. But even so he's always a bit cautious-
HeftyxSmurfette:
Smurfette is pretty happy to give cheek kisses anyway, so I suppose it's the only time Hefty becomes really flustered at all - He does prefer lip kisses because it's more special to him but he's a gentleman that lets his gal decide
PapaxWillow:
Old couple vibe goals. Just a quick peck, nothing extravagant, something cute. Usually followed by a group of Smurfs singing 'I saw Willow kissing santa claus' as a bit of fun afterwards though
And bonus TimberxMiner crackship cause why not-
Timber is very interested in trees and kind of does the reverse to Dreamy/Brainy - he knows mistletoe isn't good for trees and doesn't particularly approve of people kissing under it and encouraging it's growth. He doesn't want to let Miner down though so they've agreed to personally change the tradition to kissing underneath holly instead. It's still festive enough!
This doesn't even scratch the surface of my bg pairs that exist mostly for next gen djfkdls I didn't even get round to any grove gals! D: But I also don't want to make this too long so that's probably enough for the time being XD
older girlfriend. {pt.2}
synopsis: You as older Karasuno’s boys girlfriend.
# tags: headcanons; current relationships; older!y/n; romance; lil bit of comedy; fluff; some kisses and hugs; sometimes reader is smol or has a babyface and because of this she doesn’t seems to be on 3rd year or studies; sfw
includes: female reader ft. hisashi kinoshita, kazuhito narita, tobio kageyama, shouyou hinata, kei tsukishima & tadashi yamaguchi {hq!!}
part one {click}
Tumblr media
— HISASHI
↘ The year of difference wasn’t a something big for you and Kinoshita. It isn’t disturb two of you.
↘ But it doesn’t change the fact that sometimes you acted more like his mother than his girlfriend...
↘ I mean, whenever you went out with him you corrected his school uniform, scarf, hat or hair. You often brought him a bento or a bottle of mineral water, and you even reminded him about his tests or matches in the messages.
↘ You haven’t had a chance to meet the rest of the volleyball group yet, but if it ever did, you’d like to prepare yourself better.
↘ For example, you will make some cookies or lemons in honey to make the Karasuno team remember you well and for a long time.
↘ In sum, Hisashi was a really good boy for you and as a thank you he would always buy you your favorite flowers, chocolates, bubble tea or carry your bag/backpack from school to your house.
Tumblr media
— KAZUHITO
↘ The relationship with Narita and being his older girlfriend is (like with Ennoshita) really tender, soft and respectful. You two aren’t rush and don’t want to rush with anything.
↘ You’re Kazu’s first girlfriend so he’s a little bit awkward... He’s like a walking, big mess who often stutters and blushes.
↘ He’s cute. The cutest.
↘ Study dates!! Lots of study dates!!!! With some snacks, fizzy drinks and then with movies or anime.
↘ You are in the third grade plus you’re a amazing and supportive girlfriend, so you help him with many school things; you give him your old notes and notebooks and help him with upcoming tests. It’s a good time for both of you because you write your final exams!
↘ For each good answer, you give him a kiss or stroke his shaved lovely head.
↘ Bonus: You’ve already met the Karasuno volleyball squad, but you’re not close with them yet. You just spend too much time with Kazuhito, so you don’t look at the other boys...
Tumblr media
— TOBIO
↘ Kageyama is so clumsy. MY GOD. The most clumsy person in the whole world. Poor baby.
↘ But you love him anyway. Especially when you have the opportunity to tease him. And as you’re two years older than him and in your last grade of high school, your boyfriend knows that he can’t stand up to you. A respectful kid™.
↘ That’s why you come to his training very often and cheer him on, which he makes MANY mistakes.
↘ Headcanon in headcanon: Imagine he’s giving a quick-strike to Hinata and suddenly you yell at him, ‘Come onnnn, honey! If you try hard and win, you will get as many kisses after training as your team will get points! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!’. And... the ball literally hits Sho in his face (sorry Hinata, ily).
↘ You and the rest of the Karasuno team are laughing and Tobio hides his face in his hands so that no one sees his blushes. Poor baby vol.2.
↘ But he loves you so so so so much too.
↘ Anyway. You keep your promise after training. But sometimes you double the number of kisses because you have a soft spot for this volleyball maniac.
Tumblr media
— SHOUYOU
↘ We all knows it’s a canon that this kid would fall in love with someone older. And he would probably be the first to confess his feelings, after a very long observation and a few conversations with you about random things like food, animals, movies, school, sports and weather.
↘ At first he would be surprised that you are older than him. I mean, you’re pretty small, smaller than Hinata... So he thought you were the same age as him.
↘ Surprise, you are a year older!
↘ When you start dating, Shouyou will definitely be the one who plan most of your dates. He will also introduce you to his lovely volleyball team, coach, whole family and total stranger people, boasting that you are his beautiful, smart, tiny girlfriend. Another big #SIMP.
↘ Hinata is a really, REALLY hyped person so you will have to take care of him by bringing him healthy food and water, for example. You will also come to his matches and training, asking him to take care of himself and not hurt himself. You always worry about him...
↘ I must to say it: Thanks to you, this boy has brighted even more. He loves you very much, I can’t describe it by words.
Tumblr media
— KEI
↘ This sarcastic, tauntsy and mean asshole was just laughing at Hinata, his height and the fact that he didn’t make a good serve. Then he also started accosting Kageyama by calling him ‘The King’. What a mf... I have NO words.
↘ You heard his voice just outside the gym entrance because the door was open. You were shocked that this cutie had such... nasty tongue. He was completely unlike that nice, sweet and respectful boy you’ve always seen on your dates. You had to do something and save the orange head and his black-haired friend from more rude words.
↘ “Tsukishima Kei.” You entered the big hall, folding your hands on your hips. “What’s that supposed to mean. How do you talk to your teammates. Well, I’m shocked.”
↘ The team thought you were his sister or cousin. What was their surprise when you walked towards the tall blonde boy, then grabbed his ear and pulled down.
↘ “Y-Y/N...”
↘ “Did Tsukki stutter...?” Hinata’s whisper echoed between the players.
↘ “I wanted to support you in today’s training, because I finished my classes earlier at the university, but you are doing something like that... I’m really disappointed, Kei. You are such a bad boy.” You said what the four-eyed blushed at. “Apologize to them.”
↘ “B-But baby...”
↘ “What the fuck.” Shaved head choked.
↘ “Tanaka watch your tongue.” Sugawara said, patting him on the back.
↘ “Kei...” You muttered impatiently, at which the boy took a deep breath.
↘ “Fine...” You literally knocked out him so he just gave up. He turned to the two first years and apologized to them as you ordered.
↘ Then you smiled gently and patted his head because he was still crouching.
↘ The unforgettable first meeting with the volleyball team is already done!
Tumblr media
— TADASHI
↘ Literally no volleyball club member will forget the day when you for first time came for Yamaguchi.
↘ Third years been so shocked. Second years  had nosebleeds. The first years fainted and fell on the floor. Coach Ukai stopped in time and Mr. Takeda thought it was a american movie or korean drama. Two girly managers flushed so hard. What a beautiful memory.
↘ That day you were wearing black and heavy combat boots, black pants, a leather jacket and sunglasses on your nose. You were also chewing gum and you had a phone and car keys in your one free hand. All the students that you passed have stopped to look at your figure. The teachers wanted to call the police, by the way. Comedy and drama rolled into one.
↘ You entered the gym as if you were at your own apartment and quickly looked around. When everyone noticed you, only then you smile as your eyes met Tadashi. He was so sweet, so flushed. You wanted to kiss his whole, freckled face.
↘ ... And you did it after a few seconds, shocking everyone (even Tsukishima, who didn’t know that his bestie had a girlfriend four years older than him).
↘ Tanaka and Noya were literally crying against the wall while you were still kissing your sweet boy, telling him that today you’re taking him for a drive date and movie night to your apartment.
Shit I’ve said this month (January 2022 edition)
* FEEL FREE TO SHARE AS YOU PLEASE, NO CREDIT NEEDED. CHANGE PRONOUNS OR ANYTHING ELSE AS DESIRED.
These things do not go together
No, I just think I’m a dumbass
BECAUSE WHAT BETTER WAY TO CONFRONT RESPECTIVE INSECURITIES THAN BY FUCKING JOKING ABOUT THEM?
Literally BIG FLOOF with SOFT FACE
NOW I GO CHECK BECAUSE WHAT THE FUCK IS TIME?
Zoomers have a weird fascination with Home Depot for some reason
Meanwhile I’ll just sit there and wait because I don’t give a fuck
I can always fuck off somewhere else
I WOULD SAY “PHRASING” BUT I’M SURE SHE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT SHE SAID
Public restrooms are fucking gross
No get back here I just had a sudden thought
TABLE TURNING IS OFTEN HOW IT BECOMES TOO LATE
KEYSMASHING NOISES
Yeah we both know I’m not good at that
I DON’T LIKE KISSING ASS
I’M GONNA FUCKING DROPKICK YOU
I’m sorry that customer service is basically a hell on earth
Because you have to associate that thought with kazoo covers blasting in your ears
A bear apparently received the randomly generated name of “(sender’s name)” and all I heard was her screeing my name in excitement
I am casual enjoyer
I WILL THUNK
Why specifically swords?
No more rock mage, I’m gone from that life
(name) just stares very angrily at things
Somehow this is less strange than it sounds coming from you
Mark those words because they might get proven wrong
Also you can’t just ignore the dribbling of cheeks
I expect you to be tired most of the time, honestly
These warm feelings are weird
I can’t believe you just did my thing
I’m surprised I’m not being laughed at
Is it going to make me yell?
WE’RE ALL INSECURE
PAIN Au Chocolat
I can scream and embrace things at the same time
IS IT AWKWARD IF (name) PLAYS A GUITAR FOR YOU?
In actuality I’m just a dumbass
You just got over a stomach ache and you want to drink
That’s how you get ANOTHER stomach ache
Anything can be a bed if it’s soft enough and you fit
It’s a consolation prize for the prank
I know what a calzone is
A calzone is not a cookie
If you call it a pizza cookie, I will add to your bop debt
I will take opportunities when I see them
I don’t know what to think of this timeline anymore
I was gonna suggest you should play Drakengard if you hate yourself, but considering the qualifier, I’ll just say you should play Drakengard
He kept responding with increasingly horrified “No”s
(Name) breaks a window, cuts himself on the broken glass, and then realizes he can shove his own clothes into the microwave and proceeds to keep cooking his clothes nonstop
Gloves, Chapter 2.
Summary: There's a reason that Yellow Diamond doesn't take off her gloves.
AO3 Link / Previous Ch.
Her heels clicking harshly against the quartz-inlaid floor, Yellow Diamond swiftly conquers the hallway that ends at a set of pale, pink doors, watching with cool disinterest as her Pearl scurries ahead of her to unlock them. She drags her finger along the panel in a quick succession of movements. The diamond icons flash once in affirmation, and the doors slide open with a pneumatic hiss, revealing a seemingly empty chamber inside.
“Once the diagnostic from the Reef arrives,” Yellow says, her voice as low as her natural timbre allows, “send it to my screens immediately.”
“Yes, my Diamond.” Pearl dutifully withdraws, salutes, and bows low, though she’s not entirely able to obscure the fact that her hands are trembling at the exact nexus of their crossing.
It isn’t a detail in her subordinates that Yellow typically notices, nor concerns herself with... but, of course, it isn’t every average cycle that a royal Pearl is cracked either.
Diamonds are rarely so careless with their things.
And yet, this particular dilemma isn’t strictly about carelessness. After all, carelessness would be simple to identify, discipline, and eventually excuse, conveniently burying it beneath all the other minor boundaries of decorum that Pink has dared to infringe.
No.
From what she has gathered, this wasn’t about carelessness at all.
Yellow absently clenches and unclenches her gloves as she steps over the threshold, the doors closing behind her with a serpentine finality.
The empty grandiosity of the room, with its high, vaulting ceiling and vacantly floating bubbles, draws her eye upwards at first, and she can discern no visible damage beyond a missing panel, perhaps—easily remedied by any Bismuth worth her minerals. However, when she glances down to see where the panel may have landed, it becomes readily apparent to Yellow that the initial reports hadn’t exaggerated the carnage.
In the center of the floor, where an intricately embedded mural of the Diamond Authority’s insignia used to be, a sizable crater has been scooped out of the ground, mercilessly excavated, the diameter comparable to the bottom of one of the royal palanquins or even the base of a gigantic statue. Jagged cracks vein what had once been glassy pink quartz, revealing the bare, white foundation underneath.
And there are fragments everywhere.
Innumerable shards upon shards.
Try though Yellow does to pick around them, she still shatters pieces beneath her heels anyway as she makes her way across the room, where doubled doors open up onto a crescent-shaped balcony.The archway frames a remarkably quaint image, frangible and delicate—like a stained glass window of so many carefully arranged pieces.
Pink Diamond sitting on the ground.
Arms curled around her legs.
Forehead reverently kissing her knees.
Shaking shoulders.
Shivering hands.
Moonlight walking its silver fingers along the curvature of her bowed spine.
If she notices that she isn’t alone anymore—and surely she must given the distinct crunching noises—then she doesn’t give herself away, unmoving from her vulnerable position, unstirring.
When Yellow is right behind Pink, she crosses her arms over her chest and tries to appear cross, but the familiar trappings of a habitual facade elude her as she stares downwards at the younger Diamond.
Yellow wears her hardnesses like they’re pieces of armor, but even armor has its weaknesses.
Even armor cannot withstand pity and compassion.
The inexplicability and irrationality of love.
So she crosses her arms, but the gesture does little to no good; her toughened eyes melt anyway—liquid gold.
“Moroseness doesn’t suit you,” Yellow says, and her voice is lighter than she originally intended, almost but not entirely, verging upon, kind. “Blue tells me that you’ve been in your chambers all day.”
Silence for a moment, stretching thin in an already threadbare, starless night.
Yellow frowns impatiently, but then—
“I thought you were away,” Pink croaks, her voice seemingly hoarse from disuse. “Gone to Pallas for a couple of cycles.”
It’s true. Mere hours ago, she’d been on an entirely different planet, an adjacent star system away, overseeing the construction of resource gathering infrastructure. The reminder that she’s going to be behind schedule on that project is enough to pique her annoyance.
“Yes, well, I received at least four separate reports that you had cracked your Pearl before I had even properly disembarked from my ship,” she replies, her tone regaining some of its usual briskness. “I had no choice but to turn around.”
At the blunt phrasing, Pink lets out a low moan, bringing her gloved hands up to cover her ears, and Yellow’s rough edges sand themselves down all over again.
Her gem aches.
And pinching the bridge of her nose with one hand, she sighs ever so softly and stares upwards into the vaulting sky above the two of them. In the absence of stars, there is darkness. In the darkness, the shapes of bitter memories begin to play out across the blank tableau like a horrible pantomime, littered with grotesque silhouettes.
The knuckles in Yellow’s left hand ache from the tension of clenching them.
“So I’m here now, Pink,” she continues, her voice yielding again, bending to foreign softness, trying it on like an ill-fitting sword. “And I would like to know what happened—in your own words. Before I have to debrief with White.”
The very name of their matriarch sends another visible chill down Pink’s spine, and she begins to rock back-and-forth, dragging her hands downwards from her head, holding herself by her puffy sleeves.
“S-she’s going to send me to the Tower, isn’t she? She was already cross with me this morning, a-and I... I was so angry with her and... and I didn’t mean to... Pearl... she was just standing right there! And I...”
But she can’t go on, her barely coherent speech lapsing into sobs, and Yellow watches as a pulse of light briefly illuminates the balcony in a wave that vibrates the very air and all the molecules around them.
Lush and magenta, it could have only originated from one source.
Pink Diamond’s gem.
Pink Diamond herself.
“Calm yourself now, Pink,” Yellow demands, a measure of urgency in her voice as she lowers herself next to the younger Diamond, kneeling on both of her padded knees. “No one’s going to punish you for this.”
(White might have, of course, had Blue not swiftly interceded on Pink’s behalf, diplomatically placating the elder Diamond, promising correction of course…)
“But then again, maybe you should,” Pink half-whispers, her voice muffled against her knees. She twists her gloved fingers deeper into her sleeves. “Punish me, I mean... I hurt Pearl... I cracked her... I’ve... I’ve never done that to a gem before. I-I don’t even know what happened.”
“Walk me through it,” Yellow says immediately, settling into a more comfortable sitting position. Even though she’s not standing anymore, she still looms some ten feet above Pink, casting the smaller gem in her elongated shadow. “Every last detail.”
Pink’s response to this proposition is immediate.
Desperate.
Stripped of all pretense.
Nothing left but raw, visceral emotion.
And quiet.
Her response, her supplication, her plea is quiet above all.
“Please…” She whimpers. “… please don’t make me relive it, Yellow.”
Even though she knows that the younger Diamond isn’t looking at her, Yellow staunchly shakes her head anyway.
“What have you been doing on this balcony all day but reliving it?” She asks knowingly. “One more time will scarcely hurt more than it already does.”
“You cannot possibly know that.” Pink mutters, resentful, self-loathing, utterly convinced.
“But I can,” Yellow replies fiercely, matching the fervency in the other’s tone, the bitterness, the complete and utter self-loathing. “I do know that… I’ve lived through it.”
And it is this that finally commands Pink Diamond’s undivided attention.
She looks up so suddenly that it’s a wonder that she doesn’t pop her neck in the process, her bloodshot eyes wildly raking Yellow’s face for a confirmation of this baldly stated truth. And Yellow, without missing a beat, stares back at her ruthlessly—lips pursed, shoulders squared, her nosed upturned in the beginnings of a snarl—as though daring her junior to challenge her.
She’ll win.
She always wins.
After a pregnant moment, the silence electric with unspoken meaning, Pink seems to accept Yellow’s words at face value, nodding slowly, the grip she has on her sleeves loosening a fraction of an inch.
“If I do it…” She begins quietly. “If I tell you… could you… will you tell me how you lived through it?”
Yellow’s opposition to this unsavory idea must immediately evince itself in her expression because Pink flinches, as though already stung by the harshness of an incoming refusal.
“Please…? I just… I don’t want to be alone in this feeling, Yellow,” she whispers, closing her eyes, her delicate features screwing themselves up against their own pronounced agony. “I… I feel like a monster.”
And undisguised tears slip down the Diamond’s pink cheeks, collecting uncalmly upon the point of her chin.
Falling unceremoniously into the abyss between her knees.
Yellow makes an awkward, jerking movement as though to pat her, to console her, but she can’t quite seem to subjugate her hands into working order.
She ends up planting them on either side of her, the spines of her knuckles perpetually tensed, mountain sharp.
She’s never been good at the whole emotion-thing.
That’s always been Blue’s forte.
Stars, even Pink’s.
Maybe even especially Pink’s.
“Am I a monster, Yellow?” She continues without prompting, suddenly opening her eyes, as though stricken with realization.
With epiphany.
With awful and complete horror.
“I… I went above yours and Blue’s heads to ask White if I could finally get my own colony. And she said no—I wasn’t ready… I didn’t deserve one yet… and I was bothering her with my silly trifles… all my impetuous games…”
Yellow can see it all unfolding in her mind’s eye—White lofted on her high throne, staring down at the younger Diamond with that sharp, saccharine smile that has always so clearly indexed danger. A not entirely inconsequential part of her wants to immediately scold Pink, to abuse her for having been so reckless to approach their matriarch about this matter in the first place. Of the three elder Diamonds, White has always been the least patient with Pink’s youthfulness and immaturity; indeed, she specifically delegated Yellow and Blue to deal with her because she’d already reared two Diamonds from emergence herself.
But Yellow bites her tongue.
Pink is already punishing herself far more efficiently than Blue and Yellow ever could.
“She dismissed me to my chambers… and I… oh, stars, Yellow… I don’t know what happened next. I yelled, and I screamed, and the next thing I knew, I was glowing pink. My hands, my arms, my face… and when I came back to myself… when I stopped glowing… Pearl was on the floor. And she wasn’t moving… her eye… her gem…”
Bifurcated down the middle, the reports said.
The damage extensive.
Repair questionable.
Pink Diamond begins to cry again, pressing the heels of her palms against her running eyes in a vain attempt to stop the spillage.
“B-Blue told me to be more careful with my emotions… that I needed to keep them under control… but I didn’t listen to her,” she sniffs miserably. “And now I’ve hurt my Pearl. She didn’t do anything wrong… she was just… there.”
Too close to the explosion.
Collateral damage.
(Expendable damage.)
If Pink has anything more to say on the matter, she doesn’t proffer it willingly, lapsing into agonized silence as she continues to rock back-and-forth on the ground.
Yellow swallows painfully and half-wishes that she had never engaged in this conversation.
That she had allowed Blue to console her.
That she had not broached the subject of her own stark failure.
But the hypotheticals of actions long done and buried hardly strike her as being productive; all the things that she should have said, should have done, and didn’t do can afford her nothing but misery.
She didn’t allow Blue to console Pink.
She came of her own volition and free will.
And brought up her own miseries.
And presented them before Pink boldly—as an indelible commonality between them.
Every choice has its consequences; every word exacts its price.
And Yellow Diamond’s price and her punishment and her eternal condemnation is the truth which resides so uneasily beneath her gloves. She curls and uncurls her fingers.
And feels the cold material slide against her naked skin.
“I was barely 12,000 years old,” she begins hoarsely, “when I hurt Blue Diamond.”
“What?”
Pink seemingly can’t help herself. She looks up again—shocked, disbelieving, alarmed—and Yellow finds that she cannot stomach these very expressions, so she glances upwards, forcing herself to be interested in an empty sky.
The moon has never looked lovelier without all of her silver companions.
She has never seemed lonelier either.
So small against a dark infinity vast.
“A battle on a planet I was conquering wasn’t going well,” she goes on in a practiced monotone. “I was losing gems left and right to the local organics. And I was embittered and angry—so utterly disappointed with myself… but Blue tried to console me. You know how she does.”
Yellow had placed both of her palms flat against the nearest wall as electricity began to expand from her gem outwards through her body, surging down her arms, pooling in her bare fingertips. The wall beneath her had begun to heat beneath the energy—cracking, blackening, burning. She hadn’t even realized what was happening, her anger so complete that it overwhelmed all reality and sense. And then—
“She touched my arm to try and calm me down, but I was generating too much energy,” Yellow continues flatly, each word militaristically disciplined. It’s all she can manage to tell this story. To remember it without wanting to weep. “We weren’t as strong then as we were now. And she… she poofed right before my eyes.”
Even though this happened so many hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of years ago, Yellow can still see every facet of Blue Diamond’s gem falling through the empty air.
She can smell the smoke that strangled the air.
And hear the devastating thud as Blue clattered unceremoniously to the ground.
Cold.
Lifeless.
A mere rock without form.
Yellow Diamond screamed and did not stop screaming for a very long time.
“And because we are Diamonds”—she glances down at her own gem, unimpressive in the darkness, dusted and dull —“because we require so much light to make and remake ourselves in the rare event of our disincorporations, she did not reform for almost a year.”
Three-hundred and forty one cycles to be exact.
And Yellow Diamond waited almost every last one of them by her side, mourning and mourning and despising herself and—
“No,” Pink whispers, her voice hushed. When Yellow finally dares to glance down, she sees that the younger Diamond is staring at her with open-eyed terror. “You can’t have done… we’re… we’re D-diamonds. We can’t just… I’ve never… you can’t have poofed her! Diamonds don’t… Diamonds can’t poof!”
“But I did,” Yellow responds coldly, her nose twisted in a sneer she does not feel, “and she did. We have that capacity within us.”
White Diamond disciplined her in the Tower for days, but to this very day, she wishes that the punishment had lasted longer—as long as Blue had remained a gemstone, wedged inanimately upon a pillow.
She would have deserved it.
She had craved to be punished for the brutality of what she had done.
“After that, I took matters into my own hands. I couldn’t allow myself to lose control in such a way again… not with anyone… especially not with—“
But she cannot bear to say the name aloud, the single and beloved syllable sticky and hard on her imperial tongue.
So she swallows the damage.
She pushes past it.
And looks away from Pink as her cheeks threaten to color.
“I commissioned gems to make me gloves that would insulate my own powers when they proved to be unruly.” She says it all very clinically, as though this tragedy hasn’t entirely shaped her worldview for some hundreds of thousands of years. “And I sought, by sheer willpower, to tame what was left of my unruliness by excising emotional excess, because I swore, from that cycle onwards, that I would never hurt Bl—a fellow Diamond again by my own strength.”
Encased, entombed inside her gloves, her fingers still ache with the guilt.
She pulls her arms across her chest again just as she senses Pink shifting.
Moving closer.
It is only for her safety that Yellow moves away.
“I’m so… I’m so sorry, Yellow,” Pink says quietly, “I… didn’t know.”
“But now you do,” Yellow replies, her voice softening—so very incrementally—somewhere in the middle. She forces herself to look at Pink Diamond again and hopes that her eyes are far more stern than her inflection. “And I would like you to take a singular lesson from this story.”
“And what is that?”
The question is desperate.
Agonized.
The young gem would do anything to learn how to not hurt another.
(The cruel irony is that hurting gems is part of what is prescribed by the Diamond duty.)
“There are some parts of us that are so dangerous, Pink Diamond, that we must forever hide them away. Conquer them. Annihilate them. Vanquish them from plain and immediate sight.”
Yellow Diamond curls the tips of her fingertips into her arms, digging into golden skin.
“It’s to protect the gems around us,” she finishes neatly. “The gems whom we care about.”
Pink’s lower lip trembles.
It doesn’t escape Yellow’s sharp notice that she’s mimicking the elder Diamond’s posture, arms crossed defensively over her chest.
“The gems that we love,” she echoes miserably as a another tear glances down her sharp cheek, pale pink in the light streaming in from the chamber.
Yellow stares at her incredulously.
“Don’t be preposterous, Pink. Diamonds don’t love Pearls.”
“… I know,” comes the defeated reply. “I know… I was just… saying things.”
Stupid things.
Treasonous things.
“Yes, well”—frowning, Yellow pulls up her comm screen with a single swipe through the empty air, checking to see if she’s had any messages since she’s been on the balcony—“that isn’t anything to say so casually.”
“Yes, Yellow…”
A pause then.
Loaded.
Charged.
Pink bites her lip in hesitation, as though weighing whether or not she should speak, moderation warring against impulse, and impulse ultimately winning because she bursts aloud with winging words—
“Have you heard anything, though? About her? Is Pearl going to be alright?”
URGENT MESSAGE FROM THE REEF.
SUBJECT: PEARL 3A. CABOCHON D3.
STATUS: DECOMMISSIONED.
NOTE: THE DAMAGE TO THE PEARL'S PROJECTED FORM UNSALVAGEABLE. HARVEST RECOMMENDED.
Yellow Diamond quickly closes the missive before Pink can peer upwards to read it for herself, dispersing the screen in a burst of silent static.
“No,” she returns almost softly. “Not yet.”
Happy 60th Birthday Susan Boyle.
Susan  was born on April 1, 1961, in Blackburn, West Lothian, her   father, Patrick Boyle, was a miner and WWII veteran. Her mother, Bridget, was a shorthand typist. Susan, the youngest of eight surviving children, was deprived of oxygen at birth long enough to cause mild brain damage. The physical trauma created learning disabilities for the young girl. Susan grew up in a musical family her father sang, and her mother sang and played the piano and she found comfort in music at an early age.
An industrial town of fewer than 5,000 people, Blackburn was hardly a place to nurture the young Susan's musical interests. School wasn't a refuge for Boyle either; at school she was diagnosed with learning difficulties, and she became a target for bullies. She was often mocked, and her peers called her "Simple Susie." Yet Boyle persisted with music, and began performing in school productions at the age of 12. Her teachers, recognizing her talent, encouraged her to continue performing at school, but she graduated with few academic qualifications.
Boyle landed a job in the kitchen of West Lothian College, and enrolled in several government-training programs. Boyle continued singing for pleasure, and occasionally went to the theatre to hear professional singers. It was during one of these performances that she first heard the song "I Dreamed a Dream" performed in a production of Les Misérables. "It took my breath away," she says. "It was amazing."
In 1995, Boyle went to Glasgow to audition for My Kind of People, she was nervous during the audition, and felt she didn't do her performance justice, but her brother theorizes that she was rejected because of her unconventional looks. She was summarily rejected from the show, but Boyle remained undeterred. She continued to sing at church, and at the local karaoke nights in her regular local pub at the Happy Valley Hotel.
Susan suffered a personal loss in 1997, when her father passed away. After his death, she put her big dreams on hold to care for her ailing mother. As the youngest -- and the only child in the family with no spouse or children -- the burden of care fell on her shoulders. The mother and daughter, who were very close, often talked of Susan's possible fame. Bridget Boyle supported her daughter's talent, and encouraged her to take part in singing competitions. "She was the one who said I should enter Britain's Got Talent. We used to watch it together," Susan later told reporters. "She thought I would win."
Encouraged by her mother, Boyle used all of her savings in 1999 to pay for a professionally cut demo tape, which she sent to record companies, radio talent competitions, local and national TV. She continued to dream of a day when the world would recognize her talent. But Boyle faced hardship yet again in 2000, when she lost her sister Kathleen to an asthma attack. She took the loss hard, and turned to her music for solace.
Boyle began taking singing lessons from voice coach Fred O'Neil in 2002, hoping to improve her chances of fame. She made several amateur recordings for benefits and local performances, but seemed resigned to only local notoriety. In 2007, Boyle's mother passed away. The death crushed Susan, who subsequently withdrew from the local talent show and karaoke circuit. For nearly two years, Susan refused to sing. Instead, she lived alone in her mother's house with her cat, Pebbles. Now unemployed, Boyle devoted her time to volunteering with the elderly at her local church, and rarely thought of singing.
But in August of 2008, Boyle's singing coach urged her to tryout for the television talent show Britain's Got Talent. Convinced that the performance would be a final tribute to her mother, Boyle auditioned in Glasgow, Scotland. She performed a rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables on the first round of the show, which was watched by over 10 million viewers when it aired on April 11, 2009.
Boyle's humble looks provided a sharp contrast to her studio-quality voice. The performance stunned the audience and cynical judges, including  Simon Cowell. Boyle's performance was widely reported, and the clip became the most watched video on YouTube. She soon became the dark horse favourite of the competition, and her admission on the show that she had "never been kissed" endeared her to audiences.
After the show aired, Boyle became known as "The Woman Who Silenced Simon Cowell." Her overnight fame overwhelmed her, and on the eve of the final show, she threatened to quit the competition. After rallying for her final performance, Boyle lost to the dance group, Diversity. Critics of the loss say that Boyle may have lost due to an internet voting scam. Regardless, Boyle continues to perform. Her first album, I Dreamed a Dream was released in November 2009. It was a huge hit, selling over a million copies in six weeks, and topping charts in the United States and United Kingdom. A year later, in November 2010 Boyle released a Christmas album titled The Gift. The Gift also soared to the No. 1 spot on U.S. and U.K. charts. Boyle's third album, Someone to Watch Over Me, was released in November 2011.
In June 2012, Boyle announced that she had begun recording a fourth album with a new producer, but hasn't released any specific details about the project. On her website, Boyle wrote to fans about her newest album: "I'm not going to give any hints at the moment, as I want this album to be more of a surprise, but I'm having a great time and I'm working with another fabulous guy, so I'm hoping you will all love this new album
It took till 2013 before she played her first solo tour in July 2013 with 7 concert dates in Scotland before more concerts in England, Wales the North America, probably her proudest moment was singing  "Mull of Kintyre" at the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
To mark the anniversary of her appearing on BGT Susan released her eighth studio album, Ten, on 31st May 2019. , she also just managed to complete her "Ten Tour", which kicked off in Edinburgh's Usher Hall.
ATLA Unpopular Opinions
I’ve had some thoughts about various aspects in Avatar: The Last Airbender. So, in order of least to most controversial, here we go:
Sokka looks better with his hair up. Sokka’s wolf tail is one of the more unique hairstyles in the show, at least for the guys. He looks so basic with his hair down. The wolf tail adds to his personality, his dramaticness, and humor. How can a water tribe warrior fight with hair in his face? Please also refer to his topknot in Book Three.
Sokka didn’t have as much pull as fans think he does. Pull, in this context, means to attract someone romantically/sexually. First of all, Toph is a child, so I’m not counting her because a 12 year-old crushing on a 15 year-old should be nothing more than that---a crush. Yue and Suki pulled him first, as he fell for them before they fell for him. Suki could care less for the sexist guy who insulted her on her own island; but teaching him the ways of the Kyoshi warriors, plus a kiss on the cheek had him blushing---HARD! He thankfully changed his mindset after that. Yue, while she barely had a choice, had accepted her role as princess and was prepared to dedicate her life to the values of her tribe in an arranged marriage. The amount of times she ran away from Sokka was both tragic and hilarious. But that only made Sokka want her more, she never chased him. To be honest though, he was probably the first guy who treated her normally, despite her status. I think she mainly wanted a friend, but was surprised to find a potential lover in Sokka. Plus he made her laugh. Ty Lee thought he was cute, but Ty Lee thinks everything is cute. That is all. If you wanna talk about pull, Aang had Zuko risking his life chasing him for three seasons (I’m joking, don’t think too deeply about that).
Azula and Katara are almost equal in power. I get that Azula is a firebending prodigy, but sometimes her skills are overestimated by fans and she’s made to seem as though she can overpower everyone. It makes perfect sense that she lost to Katara in almost every fight. Before meeting her, she’s only ever fought nonbenders, firebenders, and earthbenders. She never had experience fighting a trained waterbender, so her losing to Katara shows that even she has her limitations. Whenever she did win a fight against her, it was because she got help from her friends, brother, or subjects. Katara never hesitated to fight her, and being 14 years-old herself, allowed for an even exchange of combat. Let’s be honest, what bender would go up against Azula fearlessly except the one who’s element puts out fires?
Ursa was not a bad mother. Ursa was a victim of an abusive, arranged marriage. For context, Fire Lord Azulon wanted Ozai to marry Ursa because she was the granddaughter of Avatar Roku, and he felt that they would produce powerful heirs to the royal family. Ursa was forced to leave her village, family, and fiance behind for this marriage; because who would dare turn down the request of a Fire Lord? Ursa never really loved Ozai, but he never cared. He just wanted to increase his status and power. Ursa is often criticized for giving Zuko attention over Azula, while scolding Azula and not showing her any love. However, Azula was praised by Ozai, and as a result showed more of an obedience towards him. Ozai showed a great disdain for Zuko. Ursa was simply doing her best to show Zuko how much he mattered. He was living in his sister’s shadow, while being neglected by his father. I also really feel for Azula, because she was only valued for her firebending skills, and she probably had no emotional outlet that she trusted to help guide her. However, I do think Azula was too far along for her mother to really help her. Ursa encouraged Zuko to play with Azula; she genuinely wanted her children to get along like any other parent. I just don’t think there was anything she could say or do to encourage Azula to be less destructive and show remorse for her actions. She should have never called Azula a monster, but she was a woman filled with fear. She feared her abusive husband and the repercussions of speaking out against him, she feared the destructive tendencies of her daughter and the ways she hurt other people without caring for how they felt, and she feared for Zuko’s life for not living up to the impossible ideals of the royal family. Ursa was not a perfect mother, but she tried given the little power she had. Also, to be fair, we only see Ursa’s life from Zuko’s perspective in the show. Azula probably had many memories with Ursa but she most likely blocked them out to hold space for firebending forms and her father’s approval; one of which she never really secured.
Bloodbending is overrated and unnecessary. Some fans claim that Katara should have had a more positive reaction to becoming a bloodbender. However, it was never in her character to be so controlling, especially against another person’s will. Bloodbending is also not as useful as it’s made to seem. Since one can only bloodbend on a full moon, you would have to wait an entire month to even utilize the skill. That’s extremely inconvenient and because you have to wait until nighttime, it’s even less practical. How often does Team Avatar fight during the night compared to the day? They would be sleeping if anything. Also, when your team consists of an agile airbender, a master waterbender, a powerful earthbender, and a weapons strategist, plus Appa and Momo; why would anyone need to bloodbend? Most of the Gaang’s enemies never required that level of power in order to be defeated. Bloodbending is also VERY niche. If this is allowed, should bonebending be allowed since there are minerals in bones? Should soundbending be allowed since sound is produced from vibrations? I admit it’s a really cool ability, but it’s not that important in the grand scheme of things. Also, speaking of Katara...
Katara gets too much hate. I’m not sure if it’s the surge of new fans since the Netflix debut or the repressed thoughts of old fans but lately Katara’s character has been mercilessly criticized. It’s been said that she brings up her mother too often, and that she’s overly emotional and selfish. First of all, Katara was eight years-old (and Sokka nine) when her mother was murdered. During the run of the show, only six years have passed since then, as she’s 14 when she finds Aang. She lives with survivor’s guilt due to her mother lying about who the last waterbender was so that Katara wouldn’t be taken prisoner. Unfortunately, the firebender soldier Yon Rah wasn’t taking prisoners that day, implying that he was going to murder her. Katara mentions her mother only a handful of times, usually to relate to another character who lost someone close to them in an effort to empathize (Aang, Haru, Jet, Zuko). People forget that she saw her mother’s dead body after running to get help. It was definitely wrong for Katara to tell Sokka that he didn’t love their mother the way she did in the Southern Raiders episode, and she definitely should have apologized. But, she was right. Sokka was shown to be closer to his father. She was in extreme emotional pain and instead of being comforted, she was criticized by Aang and Sokka for wanting revenge. How many times has Katara sacrificed something for the sake of others? She barely had a childhood considering she took on a maternal role in her tribe after her mother’s death. She had to deal with Sokka’s sexist comments, she had to suppress her talent for waterbending, and she felt isolated and alone because the one parent that was alive left to fight in the war. When someone needed encouragement, Katara was always there to encourage them. When someone needed help, she never hesitated to assist them. She often put herself in harm’s way if it meant someone else didn’t get hurt. For a 14 year-old girl in a war torn world, she is immensely brave. How many times has Zuko gone on and on about his honor, or lashed out at his Uncle for a seemingly small reason? How many times has Sokka talked about meat? Or Azula and her speeches about controlling and manipulating people? Toph and her rebelliousness? Even Aang’s laid back attitude turned into carelessness every now and then. Every character has a crutch that they attach themselves to, but Katara isn’t given the grace that other characters have been given. Yes, Aang lost his entire nation, and Katara would never know what that felt like. However, Aang wouldn’t know how Katara felt either. Aang was in the presence of children his age and was able to travel around the world to make friends (i.e. Bumi from the Earth Kingdom and Kuzon from the Fire Nation). He was taught to be less detached, so his idea of family is very different from Katara’s. He never witnessed the dead bodies of his people firsthand, though he did see Gyatso’s skeleton later on. Katara grew up in a world ruined by war. She had little to no friends, and the one person she was closest to left her life very early. Her tribe was VERY small and I doubt she had a lot of people to talk to. She had never left the Southern Water Tribe before, so it’s very likely that she was going to stay there her entire life had she not met Aang. She’s been accused of not allowing Sokka to feel sad about their mother, but why should she? It’s not Katara’s job to burden the weight of Sokka’s emotions, especially about their mother. She cannot force Sokka to open up about his feelings, that is something he must do at his own free will. Sokka hides his pain behind his masculinity. He’s protective because he feels guilty about not being able to do anything to help his mother. He doesn’t even remember what she looks like, he could only picture Katara’s face in her place. He felt even worse when his father left and he, understandably, couldn’t go with him. Sokka is not upfront about how he feels, but Katara should not be blamed for that. Overall it may be said that Katara was a flawed character that has recently been more scrutinized for her flaws than acknowledged for her strengths. We can do both, but there’s been an imbalance. She successfully revolted to free Haru’s father as well as other prisoners of the Fire Nation. She guided her friends out of the Si Wong desert despite the obstacles that stood in their way. She healed Aang and Zuko when shot by lightning, ultimately saving their lives and the lives of many other people who have been physically hurt by someone. She even washed Sokka’s underwear and sewed his pants. We can cut the girl some slack if she wants to talk about her mother, can’t we? She’s the glue that holds everyone together. Katara’s emotions make her a stronger fighter. Her trauma has shaped her into someone determined to master waterbending and has allowed her to be more empathetic to those around her. But she shouldn’t have had to go through all of that. She was forced to mature faster in order to survive. Katara can sometimes be arrogant, misguided, oblivious, and doubtful, yes. But she is also resilient, brave, selfless, and generous. That is the duality of her character. She is NOT to be disrespected. After all, as she said to Sokka in The Painted Lady, “I will never, ever turn my back on people who need me!”. And she hasn’t.
Iroh should be banned from the Earth Kingdom. It’s not an unpopular opinion that Uncle Iroh is a war criminal, but I just don’t think he should be allowed anywhere near the Earth Kingdom; either temporarily or permanently. Yes he played an instrumental role in Zuko’s redemption, with tea in his left hand and wisdom in his right. However, that does not excuse his invasion of Ba Sing Se. He laid siege to the impenetrable city for 600 days. Surely hundreds, maybe thousands of innocent people died under his commands. He broke the lower ring, home of the poorest members of the Earth Kingdom. The only reason he stopped was because his son, Lu Ten, died in battle; not aware that many citizens also died as a result of his actions. How many children’s lives has his army taken away? How many sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents have died under his siege? Not only does he get to establish a business and earn money, he is elevated to the upper ring of the city; meanwhile an entire population can barely afford food and stable jobs. I understand that is was for plot purposes, but It’s a slap in the face to allow him to thrive in the city after Aang defeated Ozai. His wanted poster should be everywhere, not just for supposedly betraying the Fire Nation, but also for crimes against the Earth Kingdom. The very least he could do was shut down his tea shop and hand the building over to a family who may need it, and establish a tea shop in the Fire Nation. I’m not saying Iroh couldn’t be redeemed for his war crimes, but it definitely would take more than what was seen in the show for him to be forgiven for them.
Anyways, let me know what you think. This took an ungodly amount of time to write.
