“Will you cut ties with Lusitania?”
“I will.”
It's the least he owes to Pars.
“And the servants of Zahhak.”
He winces— he should've known, in hindsight. He should have, but he clung onto them because it was convenient.
Because he wanted something, anything that could be of use for his vengeance.
It was the most important thing to him, the only thing that mattered.
Oh, what a fool he was.
“Yes.”
“Swear it,” the boy says hoarsely, tears blending with the remnants of rainwater on his face. His skin— it—
It begins to glow.
Patches of it, face and arms, giving the appearance of a tree's bark that swirls like water, eddies and curls.
Just like that boy he met in the abandoned temple at Mazandaran. The same white, the same glow, the same look on his face.
Forlorn and exhausted.
“Swear it,” the boy prompts again, voice trembling with tears but no less firm.
He swallows thickly. What could he possibly swear upon, his honor? That evaporated the moment he sold his country to Lusitania. His blood...
Traitor's blood. A monster born of monsters, same as me, the mad girl had said— but was she mad, truly? Is it madness to speak the truth?
“I swear it,” he says, uncertain that his word would be believed. “I don't have anything worthwhile to stake my oath upon, but you must believe me. I will right these wrongs— the wrongs of my ancestor, the wrongs I brought with my own hands. I speak true, I promise.”
The clouds part, and faint pillars of light illuminate the dove-grey sky.

*characters whose hair is described in the povs of starks (or jon snow) who only use the terms auburn or red-brown for catelyn, robb, sansa etc. and do not compare said characters to said tully-haired relations
**characters whose hair is described by tyrion lannister, who spent significant time with sansa and exclusively referred to her hair as auburn (without anyone else telling him her hair color as catelyn told brienne)
the only asoiaf characters ever described as having auburn hair:
catelyn tully stark
robb stark (red-brown/auburn tully hair "so like" his mother's, with a beard redder than his hair)
sansa stark (auburn hair lighter than her mother's, most reddish glowing in candlelight)
brandon "bran" stark (hair not bright red enough for him to distinguish himself from young benjen at first glance in a weirwood flashback)
rickon stark
brynden "the blackfish" tully (once auburn hair gone to grey)
edmure tully (auburn hair with a fiery beard, likely brighter than his hair like robb's)
lysa tully arryn baelish
known tully descendants never described as having auburn hair
arya stark (darker brown stark-colored hair)
hoster tully (hair and beard gone from brown to brown streaked with grey to white as snow)
robert "sweetrobin" arryn (fine brown hair, thought by sansa to be his best feature)
fun fact: the only other character that i can find to ever even be descibed as having red-brown hair in the main series is rowan, one of the spearwives who accompanied mance on his mission to winterfell. (described by theon, who had psychological reasons not to think of any hair-resemblance to robb and co.)
tl;dr i suppose my point here is that auburn hair in the real world may be a term thrown around wildly as a fancier way of saying red hair, but grrm and his westerosi creations seem to keep to a much more specific (true) definition. not just specific, almost entirely unique to a certain family, a weird mutation passing down their line somewhat inexplicably, like the magic platinum hair of the targaryens. (ned stark's 4 tully-haired kids being sorta like alicent hightower's 4 targ-haired kids where nobody can really explain why it was so dominant.) except it's actually more unique to the tullys than either black hair to the baratheons or silver hair to the targaryens, with the velaryons also having valyrian hair as well as some people in the essosi free cities too. which i guess makes rowan the wildling the equalivent of an unknown dragonseed or a lysene woman who could pass as a targ, and regular brown-haired hoster and sweetrobin the equivalent of regular blonde-haired alysanne and alyssa targaryen. so the next time someone calls the tullys lame or whatever, just remember that in-universe they're actually more special than the dragonriders, at least hairwise.

Mephistopheles Discussion/Analysis
Like Levi said in Nightbringer Lesson 13-A Mephistopheles is a jerk but MAN is his self imagine, backstory and desperation to be useful/full-fill his “life’s purpose” just . . . Sad.
On the Official Obey Me Nightbringer website Mephistopheles is described as:
A proud demon born to nobles. Raised from a young age to be a playmate for Diavolo, but he is worried that Diavolo will lose interest in him because of the appearance of the brothers.
However there’s so much more to it then that.
Tumblr media
Mephistopheles was born with the sole purpose from his family to be Diavolo’s right-hand man.
Tumblr media
A position he’s already begun to lose which terrifies him. Something so clear Mammon catches onto it when he tries picking a fight with the brothers.
Mammon: “Like, I think I know what the deal is with you. You’re scared that Lucifer’s gonna replace ya as Lord Diavolo’s right-hand man, aren’t ya?”
There’s a reason Mephisto mentions this to MC:
Tumblr media
Which makes Mephistopheles’ reaction to Diavolo saying, “I consider you a dear friend.” sadder.
Tumblr media
You still think of me that way.
Also it’s not a coincidence that Mephistopheles’ visits completely stopped a little after Diavolo took the brothers in.
Along with his father having him begin attending the House of Lord sessions more frequently.
Tumblr media
It’s Devildom’s complicated politics and the House of Lords AKA Devildom nobility using Mephisto.
Despite him being the one to deliver the House of Lord’s letter to Diavolo they didn’t even explain the full extent of their plans to Mephistopheles.
Tumblr media
The House of Lords is using the situation with Beel to put Diavolo at a disadvantage to increase the possibility of Diavolo failing the Kingsblood Crucible.
Which isn’t what Mephistopheles wants.
He tells the brothers, “As long as we refuse to accept you, your opinions don’t matter. You won’t be running things here in the Devildom.” Which is funny when that’s what the House of Lords is trying to do.
Adding onto this I find these lines when Mephisto is expressing his concern to Diavolo so interesting:
Tumblr media
Mephisto understands Diavolo’s reason for allowing the brothers into Devildom. He just can’t understand why Diavolo is so invested on a personal level.
While Mephistopheles tries to be Diavolo’s right-hand man he is blind to Diavolo’s actual needs. Diavolo craves friendship, to be perceived outside his Royal status which Mephisto will not do.
Mephistopheles ALWAYS addresses Diavolo as Lord Diavolo even when he’s not around.
Tumblr media
Mephisto also considers himself far more trustworthy then the brothers but has yet to realize his nobility and family make him someone Diavolo cannot fully put his trust into.
While with the brothers there’s the situation regarding Lucifer’s oath.
Some may consider Mephisto expecting us to escort him out to be snobbish but that’s curtsey among Devildom nobility.
Which is almost all Mephisto knows.
Tumblr media
In the present day during Obey Me Shall We Date in the Memory Card Let’s Take Pictures we learn he’s never been to an arcade. In Hard Mode Lesson 70-6 we learn he’s never eaten a fast food burger, he gets driven around in a expensive car and has a butler. He lives a very sheltered life.
While Diavolo and Mephisto are on friendly terms in the present they definitely aren’t as close. It’s almost like there’s an even larger barrier or wall between them. Which is due to their inability to open up and understand each other.
Being something useful to Diavolo is still something Mephistopheles craves.
OG Lesson 68-7 when transported to the flower garden inside the Demon Lord’s Castle. Certain characters get taken in by a flower’s illusion. One of them being Mephistopheles and what he imagines is silly yet so depressing.
Tumblr media
Mephisto just wants to be valued and seen as someone worthy. Especially to Diavolo.
Mephisto’s fight with the brothers in Nightbringer is the perfect example of how he will use his ego, be condescending and rude as a defense mechanism.
In the present day he will often praise/gloat about himself and against the brothers use the fact he was born a demon while they were once angels. To help him stop from feeling inferior. Second best. Not good enough.
However despite it all he still lives earnestly.
WHICH IS THE THING I LOVE MOST ABOUT HIM!!!
He doesn’t use his position in the Newspaper Club to spread lies. Instead only reporting the truth.
Lesson 68-17 : When Mephistopheles risks getting severely injured to save Luke. As everyone is praising him he responds to Luke saying, “It’s not like you need to thank me or anything. It wasn’t a big deal.”
Lesson 70-16 Hard: When fan letters for Asmo got delivered to the newspaper club he took the time try and bring them to Asmo. Luke told him he was really considerate.
Mephistopheles simply responded, “W . . .Well, it’s just a box of letters. It wasn’t that big of a deal for me to bring it here. And someone bothered to write and send each one of these letters. When I considered that, I couldn’t just leave them undelivered, could I?”
Lesson 72-17 : When MC bumps into him he catches us so we dont fall and hurt ourself. When you thank him he says, “I only did what anyone would do. There’s no need to thank me.”
Mephistopheles doesn’t perceive his kind acts as anything noteworthy because he simply believes that’s what everyone would do. WHICH ISN’T TRUE!
Even Luke comments how his behavior isn’t like most demons. Mephistopheles is the final key to helping Luke realize he was wrong about demons.
Lesson 77-A: The way Luke brings sweet treats to share with Mephisto, hangs out with him and when Luke falls asleep Mephistopheles lets him sleep there IS ADORABLE HOW CAN YALL HATE THIS MAN!!!!
Despite his rudeness Mephistopheles is such an interesting complex character and massive lovable dork who sucks at tongue twisters! I hope overtime he gets more fans!!!

Can you talk about Dany's and khal drogo's relationship? Apparently, her falling in "love" with khal drogo (who is a barbaric rapist and slaver) is a sign that she will go mad.
Dany and Khal Drogo's relationship is a very complicated matter, but her falling in love with Drogo does not make her 'mad'.
Dany, when first wed to Drogo, was his bridal slave. She recognizes this herself within her chapters. She is 13, being sold by her own brother to a man much older than she is and more frightening, and she is obviously afraid of the marriage and Drogo as she is now considered his property and he is allowed to do whatever he wishes to her. She is powerless against him.
"The old woman washed her long, silver-pale hair and gently combed out the snags, all in silence. The girl scrubbed her back and her feet and told her how lucky she was. "Drogo is so rich that even his slaves wear golden collars. A hundred thousand men ride in his khalasar, and his palace in Vaes Dothrak has two hundred rooms and doors of solid silver." There was more like that, so much more, what a handsome man the khal was, so tall and fierce, fearless in battle, the best rider ever to mount a horse, a demon archer. Daenerys said nothing. She had always assumed that she would wed Viserys when she came of age. For centuries the Targaryens had married brother to sister, since Aegon the Conqueror had taken his sisters to bride. The line must be kept pure, Viserys had told her a thousand times; theirs was the kingsblood, the golden blood of old Valyria, the blood of the dragon. Dragons did not mate with the beasts of the field, and Targaryens did not mingle their blood with that of lesser men. Yet now Viserys schemed to sell her to a stranger, a barbarian... When she was clean, the slaves helped her from the water and toweled her dry. The girl brushed her hair until it shone like molten silver, while the old woman anointed her with the spiceflower perfume of the Dothraki plains, a dab on each wrist, behind her ears, on the tips of her breasts, and one last one, cool on her lips, down there between her legs. They dressed her in the wisps that Magister Illyrio had sent up, and then the gown, a deep plum silk to bring out the violet in her eyes. The girl slid the gilded sandals onto her feet, while the old woman fixed the tiara in her hair, and slid golden bracelets crusted with amethysts around her wrists. Last of all came the collar, a heavy golden torc emblazoned with ancient Valyrian glyphs." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys I
"Dany looked at Khal Drogo. His face was hard and cruel, his eyes as cold and dark as onyx. Her brother hurt her sometimes, when she woke the dragon, but he did not frighten her the way this man frightened her. "I don't want to be his queen," she heard herself say in a small, thin voice. "Please, please, Viserys, I don't want to, I want to go home." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys I
Now there is the difference between the show and the books for their wedding night. In the books, Dany had said yes to Drogo when he first coerces her into sex with him. However, in the show, she obviously did not consent and was crying as he pushed her down. I feel the show had a better handle of that scene; as it was clearly very much r*pe, even if Dany did say yes within the books- she was still a child of 13 and Drogo was much older than her and had more power over her as well.
After that, Drogo continues to r*pe Dany in the books until she wishes to end her own life, and only her dragon dreams provide her the strength to keep going. Still, Dany is powerless against Drogo, and only lessens her pain when she learns how to "please" him through Doreah. She is still considered his property.
Dany only begins to really "fall" for Drogo when she becomes pregnant with his child. This is only after Drogo begins to treat her gently and value her more. Still, she remains powerless to him. After Viserys had died and she considers herself the last living heir for her family, Drogo refuses to fight to get her the Iron Throne or even sail to Westeros. He only agrees to do this after the wine merchant tries to poison Dany and Rhaego, and this is only because Drogo saw this as someone trying to harm what he considers his property/wife and son.
When Drogo raids the Lhazareen, Dany is appalled by the violence. She tries to harden her heart to it, but in the end she can't turn away from it, and saves as many women she can by taking them as 'hers'. This was a daring move that even Dany acknowledges. When she speaks to Drogo, she wonders if she stepped too far out of line with him for her actions.
"It pleases me to hold them safe," Dany said, wondering if she had dared too much. "If your warriors would mount these women, let them take them gently and keep them for wives. Give them places in the khalasar and let them bear you sons." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys VII
When Drogo dies and Mirri Maz Duur's blood magic and ritual take place, Dany is still powerless. She can only give commands to Drogo's men by threatening that Drogo would hear of them defying her. Even still, Drogo's men did not respect her, threatened her, and nearly killed her. Drogo was the one who gave Daenerys a position of power within the Khalasar, but even still it was very little and she still was powerless if Drogo did not agree with what she wanted; everything was up to Drogo and his decisions. Dany relied on him for protection and safety as he was the only man who could provide her such things when she was wed to him. And as it was shown, once Drogo began his downward spiral leading to his death, that safety and protection was immediately gone. Dany feared for him dying because he was the only one she knew that "loved" her and protected her.
Dany's "love" for Drogo was her adapting to her situation and doing all she could to keep herself alive and safe. It was a matter of Stockholm Syndrome. It was either Drogo or death for her. She was his bridal slave, his property, and he was the only powerful figure during that time that could provide for her and keep her safe. In her mind, it was love, but it was twisted and only came about because of her circumstances. Dany herself acknowledges the fact that she was Drogo's slave within the show when she liberates the people of Yunkai.
Dany's "love" for Drogo does not mean at all she will go mad. She was 13 in the books and 16/17 in the show when she was wed to him. She was a frightened child forced into a marriage to a man many viewed as a "barbarian" and "savage". It was either conform to her situation and endear to Drogo, or die. She would not have made it as far as she did if she hadn't adapted. To her, it might've been love, but Drogo was the man she was forcefully wed to and stuck with for the rest of her life as far as she knew. For her it was either make the best of it and continue on or lose her life. It was all about her survival from there on out, and Drogo was the only man she saw as being her protector for that.
Many Dany antis love to pick apart her situation with Drogo and turn it into a false narrative for their hate. The situation with Drogo and Mirri Maz Duur is always used to vilify her and make an excuse for her apparently being "mad" or terrible. They ignore the situation Dany was in and the logistics of it. She had no power, she was a child, and she was Drogo's property. Yet they love to say she did have power, when her only power came from Drogo and even then she was afraid of stepping too far with him. This was a matter of life or death for Dany. It's not 'madness' that she, a child, was conforming to her circumstances as best she could to keep herself alive.
Thanks for the ask! :)

Hard Lesson 18
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Family bonding time~
As brief as all of Kingsblood Crucible was, it obviously affected Diavolo a lot, worse because in his mind, Barbatos was the voice of all his doubts, so him assuring that he has chosen the right path is a nice contrast.

since you're a bittersteel truther, what are your thoughts (and maybe headcanons) on barba and bethany bracken?
i like the phrase ‘bittersteel truther’. yeah he was real
barba bracken described as a busty vain girl who was in the maidenvault maybe friends w daena. not that smart she could not scheme and we know this bc we know every time she tried to do it <- sign of incompetent scheming. her father the hand was interested in her becoming queen hoping sickly naerys would die soon and i like to think she was as well i like social climbing bitch characters and i like the cartoon heel rival nature of the brackens. barba gets fucked over but shes not niceys to me its like when a mean girl in a movie gets embarrassed
i have a lot of time for her if i was thrown out of court w my golden ticket kingsblood newborn bastard bc of the queen’s sanctimonious annoying brother and weakling teenage son and immediately replaced by my family’s sworn rival representative maiden theyre pimping out for court prestige id be mad. if i was remembered as a cheap scheming whore for having one kings bastard and then missy blackwood who had three was remembered as the soul of sweetness and modesty and a wonderful friend to the queen and the king (who was raping the queen)’s very favourite ever mistress id be telling my heterosexual brute son i think is the messiah to try to kill her little freak witchboy with a rock. missy blackwood was a more competent schemer bc we never hear about her scheming and she isnt remembered as one despite this bizarre playing all sides so i never lose game <- with affection. interesting that naerys was so close to the oldgods blackwoods
bethany explicitly groomed by barba and the family for aegon. far less interested than barba in royal power normallest brackens can be. i think barba was furious w her and their father for fucking everything up and being executed but was telling aegor like i NEED you to understand that this is all the blackwoods fault. also it’s funny aegon was going out of his way to visit kid aegor even if it was probably mainly to provoke aemon and daeron. aegon is so kind ❤️

Targaryens were not magically attracted to each other, it was social conditioning that made it ok for them to be so. Cultures where cousin marriage is allowed, cousins do feel attraction and love towards each other. Cultures where its seen as taboo, no one would even think like that. Its the same for sibling incest. No normal person wakes up one day and gets attracted to their sibling or someone they think of as a sibling, there are always some influencing external factors. You can say Jaime/Cersei but they were influenced by Tywin's ambition of wanting to be like Targaryens. His mentality that Lannister are superior to other lesser mortals is exactly that of Targaryens and this reasoning is what Jaehaerys used to justify sibling incest. So Jaime and Cersei literally grew up hearing this, why won't they think its okay for them to love each other like Targaryens, after all their father wanted to be like them in all other aspects? This is why I think its impossible for Jon to ever feel attraction towards Arya and vice versa, because they wholeheartedly think of each other as siblings and they have grown up without any conditioning that makes sibling incest okay, meanwhile with Sansa there is always the added factor of them considering the other 'half' sibling, its not always spelled out but they are written in such a way that we do get the gist they love each other but its not the same as with their other 'actual' siblings. George has really done his best to lay the ground to make any romantic relationship between digestible lmao.
(post referenced)
Hi anon!
Ah yes, that non-existent magical Targ attraction that is invoked to cover up the level of generational trauma and legacy of abuse and indoctrination that informs these "choices".
I mean, this sure as hell is not meant to be viewed with alarm, I suppose:
Daenerys said nothing. She had always assumed that she would wed Viserys when she came of age. For centuries the Targaryens had married brother to sister, since Aegon the Conqueror had taken his sisters to bride. The line must be kept pure, Viserys had told her a thousand times; theirs was the kingsblood, the golden blood of old Valyria, the blood of the dragon. Dragons did not mate with the beasts of the field, and Targaryens did not mingle their blood with that of lesser men. Yet now Viserys schemed to sell her to a stranger, a barbarian. (AGOT, Daenerys I)
If he had been nicer to her, would Dany have coped with this expectation by talking herself into a devoted attraction to her heroic older brother who protected her all her life? Much like Sansa invented a palatable reality with Joffrey after the Trident?
And the thing is, never mind Cersei and Jaime those two warped Targ-cosplayers, even relationship between Jon and Sansa is absolutely due to a traumatic fracture within the Stark family dynamic.
Ned's claimed infidelity, Jon's resulting bastardy, and most of all the patriarchic power Ned had, to place Jon into the rest of their family without any explanation or any consent from Catelyn... that's a massive ripple in what otherwise masquerades as harmonious and respectful mutual treatment. It introduces the brutal power differential between men and women, between upper and lower classes right into the middle of their childhood home.
For most of the siblings this is a thing they block out enough to foster a close relationship with Jon - and they ignore or cannot yet grasp what this truly means for him, for Catelyn, for society in general. But they do know, from Bran to Arya to Robb, they know.
And so does Sansa, and her comparative isolation from the boys and identification with Cat's role makes her perhaps the most aware of what Jon represents, for himself and for her. Double realities and denial are a defensive trait she develops. As is her idealisation of romance.
His identity and the way he grows up privileged but without permanence - it others Jon. Not only to his family, but also to himself, who grows up with (to him) shameful longings for unattainable things, and a fear of the social prejudices against his core character. He has no normal relationship with himself, with his desires, with his identity.
The mix of distance and closeness, the discomfiting breach of a social boundary in the pursuit of a deep-seated longing for repair... that's definitely a part of Jonsa. They are receptive to each other in a way they normally would not be. They are a bit wonky that way. But unlike with the Targaryren practice of incest, theirs is a voluntary, spontaneous attraction they will freely struggle with or act upon at their own volition.
Basically, while the relationship becomes "magically" okay through the surprise revelation of RLJ, we are still talking about an attraction and romance that would not be happening if they had not also grown up warped at their core.
Luckily for them, there is that escape clause.
You did it to yourself, Ned.

@yyyyikees asked:
what are your theories about diavolo’s dad going into a deep sleep? do you think maybe God did that as a punishment? because originally diavolos dad ranked the brothers, correct?
Well, yes, Diavolo's father, the Demon King, did indeed rank the brothers and give them their "Avatar of ___" titles before he went off into his deep sleep.
However, we don't think God did that to him as punishment -- because the Devildom is not God's domain. In the OM universe, it's important to remember that the Devildom is equal to the Celestial Realm, and Devildom history is entirely separate from its religious counterpart as hell. That is, in OM lore, the Devildom and demons existed long before Lucifer's rebellion and always had their own system of rule which had nothing to do with the Celestial Realm. With that in mind, God and the Demon King are essentially on the same level, so if God had done such a thing, that would be basically a declaration of war between the realms.
You can think of it this way: God is technically leader of the Celestial Realm but we never see him or hear him being mentioned just hanging around, just as the Demon King is technically still king of the Devildom but is in this deep sleep. Partially, we think that's probably a narrative parallels thing -- in the same sense, Diavolo is prince and de facto ruler, and Michael is treated as the top authority of the angels in the Celestial Realm, but both technically are just short of being outright rulers.
As to story theories, however, Diavolo's father going into his deep sleep is basically a huge question mark. It was sort of retconned to some extent in Nightbringer actually, because OG outright said that Diavolo had become the leader of the realm even before Lucifer first met him. And we don't really know anything about what caused that sleep in either case. NB mentions that the Devildom is overall in a state of great upheaval and uncertainty, so it could be a wider magical effect that's affecting the realm, like something caused by the physical shift in raw magical power on each side with Lucifer's fall. It could just be some kind of curse -- the Kingsblood Crucible does make a note that the Fairy King had also fallen into a deep slumber when the first Demon King gave him wine with his own blood. Or it could be something else entirely! Maybe it was Nightbringer!
All of which to say, we really don't know at this point. We may get more info on it, or we very well may not. The Demon King hasn't been especially relevant to the story most of the time so far, so OM may simply never bother getting around to explaining it. Or, depending how things escalate, maybe they will! We'll just have to see.

getting to see more of dia's background and the impostor syndrome he has bc of his father :(((((
also fake barbatos was a bitch during the Kingsblood crucible like i felt so bad for dia...and the way he greeted him right after they came back i would've cried on the spot just from whiplash
also the friend solomon was talking about was obviously thirteen, the stories are identical (love how solomon lied about not being the one who shrieked out of fear lmao)
but i wonder what was so bad about his childhood that he couldn't share...the whole being locked in a dark basement with one window is already bad enough like ???
i also think he killed his parents bc he didn't have any control over his magic and was forced to hide it, but what he's said so far kind of puts a fork in my "solomon was either lilith's lover or kid" theory so idk what to think anymore

if i see another post under asmo's tag saying he uses his ability for sexual assault oh baby hold me-
LITERALLY a few lessons ago in nb. He gave us an example of how he does it aka asking MC if they would like to try being charmed by him. In the very first lesson in og he volunteered to show his power with Satan jokingly warning MC that asmo would "eat them" and I guess some people took it seriously.
Yes, there are bad demons in the game's universe. It's safe to say there are demons who are against Diavolo's ideas, that's why they challenged him to that "Kingsblood Crucible" thing. Guess what? There are also bad people in the Celestial realm. I mean the freaking creator who was willing to KILL Lilith for breaking his rules, casting the brothers who tried protecting her away after pinning them against angels who they considered their family, and is now in the latest lesson all like "aww actually you 6 are now forgiven and can come back but if you don't I'll start a war with the world you guys are calling home now 🥺👉👈". The way all races are portrayed in OM show that it doesn't matter what realm you live in, it's your behaviour that determines whether you're a bad person or not. If you've been paying attention, the game repeats the same message: "maybe demons, humans and angels are not so different after all."
What I'm trying to say is; The brothers (og timeline Belphie excluded) share Diavolo's ideas. So WHY in the hell would they hurt humans on purpose?
Why would Asmodeus engage in an non-consentual sexual act with anyone? Does that really seem like in-character behaviour for him??
Tumblr media
Just wanted to remind you all of this thing he said.
He might have slept around with people who were in relationships, didn't commit, or whatever. But I will never believe that Asmodeus would do something so gross.
I see people bring up the fact that Asmodeus trying to charm Solomon in the latest lesson is akin to that.
Let's look at it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now tell me, *where* was it ever mentioned that Solomon was against trying it? That Asmo did it without asking? That it even worked? Exactly, nowhere. The charming was mentioned lightly, without any details, and Solo does not seem at all disturbed or negative about it.
I'm not saying Asmodeus can do no wrong; He did canonically use charming in order to get people to admire and/or worship him because of his insecurities, things he likely didn't see the harm in doing cuz how loving someone as beautiful as him can be a bad thing?? <- something he would probs say (doesn't excuse him). But that and taking advantage of said people sexually is different. First deed is confirmed, the other is theorising with no confirmation.

Before the Kingsblood Crucible
Dia: My apologies, both to the brothers and to MC, but I cannot overlook these transgressions. Beelzebub caused severe destruction of property, escaped his holding cell before a trial, and attempted injury of a government official, yet his brothers continue to act as though he committed no crime. As for MC, they are a citizen of a realm currently caught in the midst of strained relations between two other realms in the process of major political shifts, and their presence is liable to cause further disruption should they attempt to influence either. I’m sorry, but this situation must be dealt with according to the laws we uphold in this kingdom.
After Kingsblood Crucible
Dia: Beel just did a little oopsie, but everyone gets hangry now and then! Water under the bridge! And MC is now MY guest of honor who I shall share my most splendid tea with, spoil them silly with the most prestigious gifts and confections I have to offer, and if they so wish, I’d be pleased as punch to suck them off/eat them out to kingdom come fulfill whatever need they may have!

Kind of random but what do you think would happen if the demon king (Diavolo’s dad) woke up? Do you think he would approve of the work Diavolo’s done? What would he think of the brothers all having pacts with the mc? There’s so little about this character I’m interested in knowing what you think would happen if he ever woke up. Btw, you’re my fave obey me fanfic writer :)
I got this ask a while ago and I always meant to answer it but I kept forgetting...
I go back and forth on what Diavolo's father might think of the program. Diavolo tries so hard to please him and be a good example of a ruler. He seems to really respect his father, he desires his approval. That being the case, it would make sense that Diavolo's father might be on the same page as him when it comes to wanting to unite the realms, and especially making peace with humans.
On the other hand, why didn't his father make moves to unite the realms before? The House of Lords seems to look down on Diavolo and they don't think he is fit to be the future king, which is why they made him undergo the Kingsblood Crucible. I can't remember if it was explicitly said, but I thought it was at least implied that they preferred his father over him. If that's true, then it would make sense that his father doesn't have the same views as Dia, and favors the interests of the snooty demon nobles who are old fashioned and not interested in making nice with angels or humans.
I'm inclined to believe the latter, but I also have written the Demon King to be a fearsome, ruthless being.
I actually have a headcanon that Barbatos is the reason the king is sleeping. He saw the king as someone in the way of Diavolo's goals so he used his power, as possibly the strongest demon in existence, to overtake the king and put him to sleep. This gave Diavolo (unbeknownst to all of this) the chance to fulfill his dreams of uniting the realms and becoming the next ruler of the Devildom. I suppose we shall see in the future if this is true.
Thank you for your question, I really enjoyed thinking about this.
(also thank you so much for the compliment (๑>◡<๑)~♡)

As I am Now
In the dark, a hand reaches out. Her hand. Yet its shape is alien, twisted into that of a beast; azure talons clawing at nothing, desperate for help that refused to come. And so she calls out into the black void, only with a voice that isn't quite her own - instead of words, a blood-curdling shriek tears through the silence and then–
A sudden flash of white-hot pain yanked Eluein awake when drops of purifying salve fell on the torn flesh of her shoulder, leaving the Highborne gasping for air in shock. The solution sizzled and foamed as it seeped into the wound, cleansing the fissures left in the wake of the corrupted arcane growth that had threatened to overtake the entire limb; with the excess of magic expelled, a broken, scarred arm was all that remained.
“Awake at last.” The sorcerer’s deep voice resounded with a soothing whisper. The same voice she had heard before her consciousness slipped away back in Tel’anor, thinking it no more but hallucinations of a dying mind; the ghost of the father risen from the grave to guide his daughter to the afterlife– hell, without a doubt.
But as she jerked her head to regard him properly, it was clear Vreis was neither an apparition nor a trick of the light. Sat before her in the flesh, the once Lost Patriarch gave a reassuring half-smile, dismissing the vial with a languid wave of the fingers.
“Rest easy, you are in my study. Safe.” Before she had a chance to ask, Vreis answered the unspoken question that first came to mind, noticing the uneasy glances Eluein cast about the chamber. [i]“Give me your arm.”
The air was heavy with the scent of old wood and even older tomes, the tall shelves that lined the walls curving under their weight. Little light came through the windows hidden behind the heavy veil of dusty curtains, leaving the room at the mercy of a single arcane lantern hovering above - its pale glow stung to look at directly. The divan creaked as she shifted her weight upon it, averting the eyes from the light.
"Elueinthel." The nearly-forgotten sound of her full name snapped her attention back to him in an instant. “Your arm.”
Heeding his request, she lifted– or rather tried, grunting as it dangled loosely on the side despite her attempts. A futile effort acknowledged by the Sorcerer's thoughtful hum.
“This will hurt.” Vreis warned as he reached out towards his daughter, though not with ill intent. "But only for a moment."
A snap of the fingers produced a roll of bandages, the acute smell of herbal remedies filling the room in an instant - Kingsblood. The words hardly brought forth any reaction - pain was something she had become intimately acquainted with.
It came with a sting - the touch of the moist dressing agitated the torn skin that protested against it. But as the healing properties eased their way in, so did a wave of relief follow; wrapped from the neck to the very last digit of her left hand, she found the ache tolerable at best. An improvement from unbearable.
"Were it not for the reputation that seems to precede you, I would send for a healer." The Sorcerer jested, if only partly, sinking back into the chair.
He appeared so small and frail now compared to the Father she remembered, shrunk by an invisible weight that rested heavy on his shoulders. From beneath the dark brow, a single eye blazed with a familiar look of determination; the embers of the paternal warmth were dimmed - not extinguished.
But instead of comforting, it irked her. How could he have the audacity to look at her like that after staying away for so long. After choosing to remain in the shadows for the most of her– their lives.
Reduced to mere glances, the two stared at one other in silence - each unable to bring themselves to address the question that hung in the air like a blade threatening to fall at any moment; more willing to suffer its slow descent rather than be the one to wield it, well aware of the carnage that had the potential to follow.
A coughing fit of the bed-bound Highborne ushered an end to the awkward stillness. Raising from his seat, Vreis quickly grasped at the opportunity to flee the shadow of the looming argument about to unfold - finding an excuse wasn’t an issue.
“Should I brew us some tea–”
“Where have you been?"
It came abruptly and without warning; at once, the blade fell and forced the elf into a halt. Breathing a haggard sigh, the Sorcerer turned with an apologetic smile - the confrontation was inevitable. He had only expected it to come later rather than sooner.
“You ought to rest, my dear. We can have this conversation another time– and you will find yourself with an excess of it for quite a while.”
“No.” The strained voice protested as Eluein mustered what little remained of her strength to push herself up. “I already waited. Held onto hope until we decided to finally bury what little memory of you remained– and then I waited still, despite knowing better. But you never returned.”
The healthy palm tightened into a fist without her realising. Despite the cut that split her face, a parting gift of Duskborn's conjured sword, she knitted the brows into a frown - the intensity of her glare was entirely new to him.
"So I ask you again. Father." Eluein pressed, but not without difficulty - the word near stuck in her throat entirely. "What reason did you have for leaving us?"
For leaving me. Yet she dismissed those words, realising how infantile they sounded– words of a child crying out for justice she thought she deserved. But in the moment she desired nothing more than that shallow validation. For someone, anyone to acknowledge that the responsibility which fell upon her in the absence of the elder was unjust and unfair.
"It was for your own good - and for your protection. What connections, what enemies I had made during my absence would have threatened us all upon my return." Vreis explained, but not nearly well enough for Eluein’s ire to subside. The sentiment only served to further fan the flames. ”You are within your right to disagree, and hate me for it if you so wish. I only ever had your well-being in mind - and with every week that passed, there would not be a single day where I did not agonise over that decision."
"Never has one made altruism sound so self-serving." She chided, fangs flashing with a derisive snarl. Warmth formed underneath her eyelids, millennia worth of tears finally struggling to be held at bay. "You fled, and because of your cowardice, our family fell apart. One by one."
Their mother was the first. And though Eluein more often than not thought of her death as a positive, its sheer impact was enough to form cracks so deep none of the three siblings would ever see themselves as whole again. Such was the price of his absence.
"And now you return– how dare you come back now, when I am this?!"
The chaise lounge creaked, struck by the Highborne's fist. For the first time since his disappearance, Eluein finally allowed herself to break into a bitter sob.

Okay, you know what, let's look at the situation at hand for a sec
Nightbringer spoilers for up to lesson 14!!
So the Celestial War ended not too long ago, the brothers just fell from grace. The Demon King accepts them into the Devildom (Diavolo might have been the one to take them in, but ultimately it was still the Demon King that gave them their titles and therefore allowed them to stay) which strains the already fragile relationship between the two realms even further. Lucifer also mentions that, should the Celestial Realm ever find out that Diavolo directly interferred with their judgement and let Lilith be reborn as human, war would be inevitable
We've also seen the way the Devildom's denizens treated the brothers--hostile, unwelcoming and demeaning, all because they're fallen angels (or associated with fallen angels in Satan's case). There's also the House of Lords, clearly wanting to get rid of the brothers as well
The entire situation gets a little better over time but it's still incredibly unstable. Probably the only way to destabilize the Devildom even further would be by forcing a change in power
And then the Demon King falls asleep, and just like that, Diavolo is thrust into a position of power
And while Diavolo does his best to shoulder his new responsibility and he has Barbatos to support him, it's obvious he's completely overwhelmed by it all--and he also makes an easy target. The House of Lords literally jumps at the first opportunity to challenge Diavolo's authority. We can only guess what would have happened if Diavolo failed the Kingsblood Crucible
And speaking of the trials, during them Diavolo mentions how demons got to rule--how a demon tricked the Fairy King into drinking his blood, which put the Fairy King into a deep sleep he has yet to awake from, and leaving the land to be ruled by the demons. Which sounds kind of familiar in a way, doesn't it?
Makes you wonder if it's all part of a bigger plan and someone's pulling the strings in the background...
