I wanted to write this big, long, inspiring piece about my year, how things didn't go as expected and how I want to change things in 2023. How I want it to be better. I wanted this post to be me, speaking about my year in length and why it was the most awful year to come of my life so far, but also how I'd spring back from it.

And yet, looking at the screen, nothing comes to mind. Because really, in a word, that's what my year has been.

Nothing.

Nothing changed. Nothing was achieved. All that happened was every 'nothing' getting worse. All I feel writing this is nothing. All I've felt the past few months is nothing.

And yet… Tonight, I don't want to be passing into 2023 with nothing. I have one, single resolution for the coming year, and that is to live. To truly just live, and to feel.

It's something I don't think I've even done much before this point; it's always just been the same, nothing, the fear, the hurt, the crushing emotions and then the numbness of nothing that swiftly follows. And I think that now, there's something we all need to do.

Simply live.

Don't hold back in fear of things not going how you planned. Don't pass up an opportunity, no matter how scared you feel to try something, for it could be the last opportunity to do that you ever get. I promise you, I've learned from experience; life is far too short to worry about what may or may not come. We live in the present, which as every day passes is a gift to us. Don't take that for granted. Live for that gift with every moment.

This got a little too poetic for my liking but as a sappy writer at heart, what can you do? I tend to write a small speech every year, whether amongst friends on discord or a thread on twitter, a long time ago even in journals on deviantart. This is by far my longest and most… In depth? Of them yet. I didn't want to throw a pity party or go on about hope for better clichés like I used to, but instead write from the heart.

The heart felt nothing, therefore my goal for '23 is to feel something, and to feel something unabashedly good.

Happy new year, and let's hope it really is different, in the best way this time.
