WHO WANTS TO HEAR ME RAMBLE ABOUT GAY FURRY DEMON SEX? XD
(damn, there's a sentence I never thought I'd say....)
Okay...so I see some Stolitz confusion and bashing online and I need to type up a defense here because I won't be able to sleep otherwise lol
I consider myself to be a Ship Critic and someone who takes shipping rather seriously.
What I mean by this is, I like to analyze and break down romantic relationships between fictional characters because it's just interesting to write for me. I especially take delight in friendly debating with opinions that I strongly do *not* agree with.
Let me start off by saying I am NOT a "this ship is awesome because gay furry sex lol" type of girl.
FAR from it. I'm generally more passionate about hetero ships between human characters (because I can relate to them more) among other reasons. So if you wanna dismiss my defense as "shallow fangirlism", you can forget about that lame excuse.
I fell in love with Hazbin Hotel when it was finally released in February and suffered waiting for each new two-parts per week. During that time, I decided to watch Helluva Boss as well, after a friend showed me a particularly soul-crushing clip (Moxxie's childhood trauma about his mother).
Tumblr media
Yes, I like funny sex jokes as much as the next goofy adult but scenes like this, scenes that carry a very heavy emotional weight are what really get me in the end, even moreso when VERY little dialogue is exchanged. I knew I had to watch the entire episode run after seeing that the creators had a talent for this.
I saw people asking:
"How did Stolas go from using Blitz as a sex toy to being painfully in love with him?"
Oh I can tell you. I can tell you the EXACT moment this is revealed. But it's not spoon-fed to you; it's quite subtle actually and this is why lots of people miss it.
See, one of the strongest talents Vivenne has shown me is that she REALLY knows how to get her characters to communicate their feelings to the viewers JUST from their expressions and body language. These can be 'blink-and-miss-it' teeny little scenes and it may require a couple rewatches.
But since people demand time stamps for all information others post here, I'll rewatch a few scenes from S1 E7 'Ozzie's' as I'm typing this.
'Ozzie's' remains to be not just my favorite episode of HB...but probably my favorite episode of any adult-targeted animated show outside of Japan (aside from S2 E7's Mid-Season Special)
It has this huge reveal for both Blitzo and Stolas.
We'll first address Blitzo's irrational, stalkerish behavior of Moxxie and Millie.
He's obsessed with them. He finds both of them very attractive, fantasizes about threesomes with them and is constantly inserting himself into their personal lives.
Why?
Because they have everything that he badly badly wants for himself.
They have the perfect marriage and he is trying to live THROUGH them.
Tumblr media
This was hilarious to me at the beginnning of the show but it's slowly revealed that it's one of the most tragic and depressing things I've ever seen. And it's scarily realistic too.
But you know this already so let's move on...
Blitzo follows the couple to Ozzie's but he can't get in without a date. So he calls up Stolas and yes, this is very low but he doesn't realize how much this means to Stolas (hell, I'm not sure even Stolas realizes it himself!) but the owl man is giddy with joy, he rushes over and they enter Ozzie's.
When Ozzie and Fizz mock Moxxie for being so sappy towards his wife, this strikes a chord with Blitzo (because they're his IDEAL relationship) and he speaks up to defend them.
NOW PAY CLOSE ATTENTION; THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART:
Fizz, still holding onto his past grudge turns on Blitzo to humilate him:
"Some nerve you got commenting on a relationship"
Time Stamp: 11:37
As Fizz says "-ship", Blitzo VERY QUICKLY makes eye contact with Stolas who has a look of panic on his face. Blitzo is seeking VALIDATION from Stolas in this sharp, subtle second of screentime, as if to ask
"Well, ARE we in one?"
Tumblr media
And then what happens next...Stolas remains silent, Blitzo's ex joins in to announce how selfish Blitzo was in bed with her, tearing him down further. Stolas stands up like he's going to put a stop to it but then Ozzie notices him and interrogates him about sleeping with Blitzo.
Blitzo looks incredibly ashamed and guilty as Stolas blushes with similar feelings...and hides his face behind his menu; HIS BIGGEST MISTAKE IN THE SERIES SO FAR.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Time Stamp: 12:24
The look on Blitzo's face as he grits his teeth and darts his eyes away basically says
"Yeah, I should have known...boy am I an idiot for trusting him to stand up for me".
Tumblr media
(look how SHOCKED he is...wow, this hurts fr ;_;)
Tumblr media
This is a silent betrayal on Stolas's part. Afterall, his reputation is on the line, so if he were to defend Blitzo, it confirms they are in fact, dating. He chose his pride over Blitzo and Blitzo is crushed by this betrayal.
Moxxie finishes his song and kisses his wife tenderly. Stolas watches this and also wants to have an affectionate moment with Blitzo (who is rightfully glaring daggers at him) and tries to reach for his hand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blitzo rejects his touch and suggests they leave. As they do, Blitzo still looks furious and hurt. Stolas is now realizing how badly he screwed up with a "What have I done?" face (13:41)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He even looks disappointed with himself.
After Blitzo drops Stolas off, he thanks him and tries to smooth over the awkwardness with sweet talk but Blitzo just rolls his eyes in disgust and pulls on his face like "I don't want to hear this bullshit".
Tumblr media
He responds coldly and curtly, "Yeah." Stolas makes more suggestions to spend time with him, which just makes him even angrier and he snaps
"I'm not fucking you tonight, okay!
Tumblr media
I'm really just..." (14:28)
he pauses to wipe a tear because at this point he can barely hold it together (top notch voice acting and animation directing btw)
Tumblr media
"...not in the mood, Stolas."
Stolas still tries to talk him into doing couple things unrelated to sex.
Tumblr media
Blitzo's face switches back to anger and frustration because Stolas isn't getting the message so he goes for the blunt tactic;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Stolas, don't act like what we have is anything but YOU wanting ME to fuck you, okay?"
(14:42)
"You make that really clear all the time."
Tumblr media
(again his voice sounds like he's about to break down)
"But I-I just can't do it tonight, okay?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Finally meets his eye)
Tumblr media
"...I'm sorry."
I believe this is code for "I'm sorry we're even in this situation and how your reputation got damaged. " Or, more painfully, "I'm sorry I'm such an embarrassment to you".
Stolas replies "Okay" and takes a deep breath to compose himself. They say goodnight and depart.
Tumblr media
An important note here is that Stolas calls him "Blitzo" instead of "Blitzy" to show more respect.
As Blitzo zooms away coldly, Stolas looks up at the sky with tears in his eyes, surprised at how much it hurts.
He then sits down with his head in his hands in anguish...because he's getting that
"Oh...no. These feelings are real" epiphany.
Tumblr media
And as if this wasn't enough angst, Blitzo collapses onto his couch at home, goes through the memories on his phone and starts sobbing.
Tumblr media
I'm going to be real with you; this is the most heart-breaking shit I have ever seen in an adult show of this type. It's also the first time a show of this type got me to cry.
The last six minutes have revealed so much information without spoonfeeding it to the audience because the show RESPECTS its audience.
To recap:
*Blitzo takes Stolas on a first official date to use him
*Stolas is extremely happy about it
*Blitzo gets humilated and looks to Stolas for validation
*Stolas betrays him and breaks his heart
*Blitzo snaps that their relationship is nothing more than lust-driven sex
*Stolas realizes he's actually in love with Blitzo and it's a huge problem because (he believes) that it's unrequited.
*Blitzo breaks down because the ONE person whom he thought would protect him didn't do so.
So these two are convinced that neither one loves the other...while the irony is, it's quite the opposite.
Because if Blitzo REALLY didn't feel anything towards Stolas, he would not have gotten this emotional.
Yes, they are both lonely...but I really don't think that's all there is between them.
So..........we know WHEN they started falling...now the question is why;
I think the answer's quite simple; single-target affection.
It was mentioned in S2 that Stolas and Stella did sleep together ONE TIME...but Stolas didn't enjoy it at all. He is stuck with a wife who hates him so much that she put a HIT on him...and a daughter who thinks he's a loser. Blitzo is pretty much the one person in his life who is able to make him happy. That one small, bright spot. He enjoys the sex with him but he also simply enjoys his company, as shown in Ozzie's episode. He is thrilled to simply talk to him about his day...and do anything else that couples do. They're complete opposites. Stolas is an intellectual but naive and sheltered. Blitzo is poorly educated but cynical and street-smart. Opposites attract...though this is likely more from Stolas's POV than Blitzo's.
In other words, Stolas is into bad boys xD lmao
In Blitzo's case, Stolas is the only character who shows him physical affection which he desperately craves. He's pretty tsundere about it most of the time...but I think he actually does enjoy that attention...especially when he's always getting disrespected by Moxxie and Loona..and quite a lot of people around him. BUT he's too scared to get serious with anyone because of past trauma and he also believes that no one could possibly love him as a person. :(
Reasons I Think This Love is Real
Aside from what I pointed out in the Ozzie's episode...there's quite a lot of evidence, esp from Stolas's POV.
After he realizes he's in love, he goes to Asomodeous for an ALTERNATIVE method for Blitzo to use so they will no longer sleep together. He wants to set Blitzo free. Which means he DOES truly love him because love is about being generous to the other person. He COULD be totally selfish about it but he isn't.
Asomodeous mentions how against love potions he is and Stolas agrees. He thinks that's out of the question.
'Look My Way' music video. Lol I don't have to say anything more.
In S2 E6 OOPS
This exchange at 16:57
Fizz: Seems your taste has gotten more 'regal', lately?
Blitz: Yeah, well unlike you, I fuck who I want WHEN I want. I'm not gonna be tied down to some big blue-blood asshole.
Fizz: You coulda fooled me the way Prince was cozying up to you at Ozzie's.
Blitz (gets very defensive) HEY! Stolas only cares about have a rugged peasant raw-dog him into his mattress, okay!
It's nothing...(gets hesistant and looks away)...you know...
(Fizz gives him a 'bitch please' look xD)
"it's nothing else."
Fizz: Then why were you even there?
Blitz: OTHER very important reasons of course.
Fizz: Whatever. I don't actually care.
Blitz: Stolas is just a loud, thirsty BITCH!
(Fizz is rolling his eyes again)
Blitz: He loves feeling the thrill of getting dicked by the lower class.
It's a novelty to him.
Fizz: LITERALLY just said I don't care!
Blitz: And then he'll call me and try to see how my day was!
And he'll pretend to care about me and comment on my photos laugh at my jokes...
Fizz: (Smirking) OH! That's definitely your clue right there that it's all bullshit!
Blitz: I KNOW, RIGHT??
Fizz: (Making a 'What in idiot' expression, shaking his head)
Blitz: HE'S JUST A FAKE, PRIVELEDGED ASSHOLE...
Fizz: Sounds like you just hate him for being a prince!
No one (laughs) and I mean NO ONE pretends to care that much just for a cheap lay.
All right. IF ANYONE knows what real love is like, it's Fizzaroli...who is in a very HEALTHY relationship with Asomodeous. He recognizes the signs because he's IN that place. He sees it...and he's annoyed that Blitzo keeps denying it and brushing it off...yet clearly can NOT stop talking about Stolas (amusing irony)
To sum up (this freaking essay lol) 'Stolitz' ABSOLUTELY has the potential to be pure and true...these two just need to communicate...or Stolas has to PROVE to Blitzo that he's serious about his feelings in another way.
There is no doubt that this ship is 100% endgame and is a case of the 'Earn Your Happy Ending' Trope. I look forward to the rest of the journey. Ron is putting my feelings about Stolitz in a perfect phrase:

My Thoughts (That You Didn’t Ask For) Upon Watching Bluey
Tumblr media
art creds: Pinterest @kawo2206
god bless *blows kiss* <3
I hate Muffin. I hate Muffin with everything in me. She is the bane of my existence. I have never wished such violence upon a toddler.
The use of the term “tactical wee” has become part of my everyday vernacular. i have to tactical wee before my classes. I must tactical wee on road trips. I tell my mother to tactical wee. Bingo’s off-handed line has overtaken my life.
I have cried far too often during these episodes. Sometimes it isn’t even during a particularly emotional scene. Sometimes I just…. Cry
in the episode “tickle crab” (S2:E1). legitimately laughed more than I do during quote-on-quote “comedy movies”
the recurring joke names used during play scenes makes me point and gawk at the screen the way that MLP FIM expected me to every time they introduced a new allicorn
It has healed parts of me that I did not know needed to be healed. I have an undiagnosed something and have needed therapy since the seventh grade. But that is unrelated, I am sure.
now I give you this rigorous list of my favorite episodes:
S1:E7 “BBQ”— it humors me.
S1:E11 “Bike”— also the first episode I cried during
S1:E17 “Calypso”— scratches an itch in my brain, bonus points because it’s wholesome
S1:E37 “The Adventure”— the perfect depiction of a child’s overactive imagination (it’s me, I’m child)
S1:E43 “Camping”— iconic episode, is the reason I got interested in Bluey, no matter what the ending will make me cry
S2:E3 “Dance Mode”— just…. such a good lesson for little kids to learn and… oopsie I’m crying again
S2:E13 “Army”— wholesome as heck. so so wholesome. also I love Rusty and Jack.
S2:E18 “Escape”— just a fun episode
S2:E20 “Queens”— Bandit in this episode??? funniest thing ever.
S2:E35 “The Quiet Game”— I love Alfie. loved him from the moment I saw him. he must be cherished. awkward little cinnamon roll 🥺
please send me Alfie fanart. please.
finally, I leave you with this:

hi! I just watched the new DA movie and so ofc I went back to binge the series again lol and one moment I consider one of my favorite Corbet moments is in S6:E7 when Robert is about to go see if Henry is alright after the crash and Cora goes “you’re not going anywhere”. I love how it showed how protective she was of him and he listened to her too lol. Anyway I was wondering if you could possibly write a fic about a conversation they have later. Anyway I love your work and feel not obligation to write this!
Yesss. I love this scene, too. She's so tiny pulling him back to her. I tried to sort of imagine the spiral of Robert's feelings in this one; he was so irritable in the dining room and my headcanon is that he is usually at the mercy of his feelings, letting them sort of get out of control a bit. Of course, Cora is just the opposite, IMO. Thank you for trusting this one to me! I hope you like something about it :)
=======================================
The fact was, he wasn’t really tired. Lying in this bed, staring up at the ceiling of his sister’s home, he had tried to slow his breathing enough to shift into slumber, to close his eyes until they stopped roving beneath the lids and making them flicker open. But alas, he could not.
For he was not tired.
He was, however … was that anger? He wasn’t sure. It was certainly upset. Uncomfortable. Too aware of the way his wife laid awake beside him, her face angled up to his own, her fingers glancing for a moment against the sleeve of his shoulder before drawing them beneath her own head, crushed in a fold of her pillow.
Irritable, too. It was as if the metallic noise he sometimes heard over the telephone had crept into his head and crackled there. She’d said no more about it; Cora had only let her maid undress her in the corner of the bedroom before folding herself into the bed, Robert rolling in beside her. She’d not said another two words strung together about what they’d witnessed, what the day had brought. What their daughter must be feeling.
No. Perhaps he was angry.
Angry that the last five weeks had produced more lessons in mortality than he, nor any other man, could ever ask for.
Angry, too, that he’d been so excited to see the motor race. Angry that the day had ended in tragedy.
Angry that he had to stay back as younger men, stronger men, had rushed with his own daughters, to help.
And angry that his wife—this woman whose soft fingers touched again at his shoulder—was capable of separating herself from her emotions in a way he never could understand. Angry that she could be so unfeeling when he could do nothing but feel.
He heard a small change in Cora’s breath and peered down at her beside him, but could sense she was still not asleep. He knew too well the rhythm of her sleeping body’s rise-and-fall; she was too still.
She, too, was thinking.
He could sense that as he peered at her. He could sense the way she tried to push away this day and draw in the next; but her sleeveless shoulder gave her away, the stillness of it catching whatever light came from the curtained window, and glowing.
He shifted further down into the bed. “I should have stayed down with Mary.”
She lifted her chin along the pillow in response.
“I can’t seem to sleep as it is, and I’m certain she won’t sleep at all either. Not with how horrific everything’s been.”
Still, his wife did not respond, and the little knot of anger tangled there between his ribs tightened.
“After what she’s been through. God only knows what she saw at the scene of the crash. What bloody awful memories she’s reliving now.” He let one of his hands gesticulate to the dark ceiling. “I shouldn’t have come up without speaking with her—“
“I’m sure Tom—“
But Robert didn’t let his wife finish. “—as I should have gone to her at the track. Instead I just stood there. Useless.”
And so she did not.
Instead she turned silently to lie on her back. And then, after a few moments more, and with a deep breath, she left the mattress.
No. “Cora,” he tried, for he hadn’t meant this. He hadn’t meant he wanted to argue with her. He hadn’t meant it at all.
He tried to make out in the shadows what she did there on the other side of the room. “Cora, I hadn’t meant to raise my voice.” He heard a small clink of a glass and water from the pitcher that Baxter had brought up some time before. She still was silent. “But surely you understand how I must feel. To stand there as other men rushed past to help. That young, brave man gone in what seemed an instant.”
“Here.” He looked at her as she returned to the bed, her small body shaking the mattress gently as she climbed back in beside him. “Take this,” she offered, and Robert found she held a water glass.
He sat up and, exhaling, took it.
“And,” he looked again to her hand, the glow that had been on her shoulder catching at her narrow wrist. “Take a powder.”
“I don’t want a powder,” he pouted but took it all the same.
“Do you need me to open it?”
“No.” And putting his much recent practice to use, he managed with one thumb to separate the wax paper; he tilted the medicine into his mouth, the sharp bitterness making his tongue smart.
He took a drink of water, smacking away the taste, before handing the glass back to his wife who, twisting at her waist, placed the glass on the table beside her.
Sighing, he laid back against the pillow. Sighing, he closed his eyes and tried to settle the irritation he still felt alive in his joints. But then, to his small surprise, Cora laid down as well, her body quickly flushing against his own, her arm draping across his breast … her nose burrowing into the space beneath his jaw.
He blinked. The irritation he had felt, that telephone crackling that lived in his bones, it was gone.
“The phenacetin should help you sleep,” he felt her words against his throat, her little puffs of air. “If your tummy is uncomfortable.”
He nodded, and then felt himself ask her, “What about you?”. It was a reflexive response, and one he meant. He shifted his head and let his lips touch at her forehead, her hairline. “You couldn’t sleep either.”
“No, but…”
He felt her fingers grasp tightly at his shoulder, and without thinking, his hand went to her own, taking it, and he brought her long fingers to his lips.
“…you’re here.”
He kissed her fingers again. He nodded. The tangle of anger had loosened considerably there beneath the length of her arm, and Robert drew in a slow breath, bringing in the scent of her lavender hand cream, and he pressed his lips to her fingertips again.
“I apologize for before.”
He felt her shake her head, but he went on.
“I didn’t mean I was angry with you. Only the day. And then Rosamund was so–” “--You’re here.” She repeated, stopping him. Her voice was low against his skin, and Robert lifted his chin against her forehead. “I think that for tonight, let’s just be grateful.”
His body felt heavier at that. His chest and arms and legs and head all tripled in weight as her words coursed through him, his heart aching a little at the sincerity in her words.
Again, he kissed her forehead. And again he kissed her hair. And when she lifted her face to his, he found her lips and rested his head to her own.
He nodded. “You’re right,” he conceded. “I’m here."
His heart quicked when he felt her lips move against his. “Please. Don't go anywhere.”

Thoughts on e6-e7 of The Terror
Continuing my first watch of The Terror, I just have to say... holy shit, that carnival!
I could tell something was going to go horribly wrong with how generically spooky it was, and I'd heard some vague spoilers of Dr. Stanley being a bad guy with respect to it. But he just straight-up arsoned the whole place in the most horrifically premeditated way possible. Possibly the most terrifying thing I've seen so far in the show, because while the Tunbaaq isn't real, overcrowded events with poor escape routes definitely are.
Also shocking was the fact that the guy Hickey stabbed there was an accident! I saw a second of that scene in an AMV pre-watching and I assumed that it was Hickey murdering things up Hannibal style. But actually Hickey was frantically trying to save the lives of everyone there and actively warning people that he was cutting through the tent. I cannot believe how much context completely 180'ed the meaning of that shot.
TBH if I hadn't watched e7 immediately afterwards I'd have wondered if the whole "Hickey is the show's villain" thing was an elaborate trick the Internet had agreed upon to prank new watchers. Even with e7 (when Hickey kills Irving and Farr) it seems hard for him to surpass Stanley's villainy? Maybe I'll be surprised.
The fact that the writers chose to have Hickey be the one coincidentally outside the tent, trying to save people, is... interesting. It's not that Hickey did anything particularly impressive or selfless what with moving the crates out of the way and cutting the tent open. But it's definitely a choice to make him more sympathetic (it could have been anyone outside the tent, in theory). I feel like I actually believe Hickey when he said that he found the dog with a broken leg (if he were lying, would he have admitted to killing the dog at all?) Relatedly, I'm glad we haven't heard anything more about the ship's cat—the dead dog and monkey were sad enough that I'm glad to be able to pretend that (somehow) the cat is happy and safe.
Also someone called me a Jopzier truther after my response to e1, and I was like "IDK, I don't even know these guys," but yes I 100% do ship Jopzier now. Jopson was so sweet taking care of Crozier when he wasn't feeling well! Plus Jopson was like "🥺🥺🥺 You didn't let me shave you or help you put on your underwear? 🥺🥺🥺 Plz dom me, sir, I can't function otherwise." and Crozier literally responded by promoting him. I feel like that might not have been what Jopson was aiming for, but still, sweet! (I started searching for Jopson content and immediately found Jopson/Hickey art, which I apparently also ship now despite first liking Jopson for the Jopzier angle.)
Speaking of shipping, I'm increasingly appreciating Goodsir/Lady Silence. You go girl, be the big spoon to your scared little man! I'm sure you two aren't doomed by the narrative at all...
I'm also disappointed that for all the fan content I've seen about Fitzjames's gender feels, he apparently doesn't even WEAR the dress? He just holds it up in front of himself??? Tragic. It looked like there were people in dresses at the carnival too, so he totally could have gotten away with it though only metaphorically; he literally might not have been able to escape the fire otherwise.

Witcher S3:E6/E7
Too much stuff happened in episode 6 to even attempt to chicken scratch while the episode was going. Episode 7 is more chill so we can chicken scratch. *peck peck*
I am definitely confused why people didn't like this season -- it is following the book excellently. There were movements in earlier episodes where I was a little concerned about the camera / lighting work, but they seem to have fixed that.
Triss and Istred! AHHH squeeee! Also Istred just kicking people in the episode 6!
Tissaia :( She is the best. I do like how the show gave her a lot more depth compared to the book.
Radovid the Jaskier -- the way Radovid looks at Jaskier. It really nicely parallels how Jaskier looked when Geralt snapped towards the end of season 1. Except Jaskier forgives a lot faster. Not in a weak way, but more human.
This whole season has done character pairings so well! Phillipa and Djikstra! Owl to the rescue!
Maybe they saved their budget for the fight between Geralt and Vilgefortz? That was stellar -- like in the first season with Vilgefortz magicking swords. Except better.
The way they killed Rience. It felt like an homage to the book. Like yes the fingers must go.
I really like how there is a caped figure in the dessert in some scenes if you look carefully enough. Like on the edge of the screen.
FERAL CIRI! Lizard NOMS! num :3
SQUEEE we saw Milva! There is just so much to squee over in this show.
ANTLION! Antlions in fantasy are always great!
UNICORN! Little horse helping ciri find the good nums.
I am so happy they brought back Calanthe! Even though she is horrifyingly mean. But still Calanthe.
Honestly since the very first season, the monsters have been a bit lack luster. Episode 7 fixes that. Short lived (hurr hurr), but that was still a cool giant sand louse?
Also how many times did Ciri say fuck in this episode? Id say make it a drinking game, but alcohol poisoning.
It might be a plot hole, but did they never previously convey that fire magic is a taboo? It isn't very clear in season 1 and I don't think it comes up in season 2. Yet it becomes super important now. I don't recall it in the books either, but my memory of the books is a tad fuzzy.
Where did Jaskier learn the Dryad's language? Is it just eleven or a dialect?
The credits to episode 7 are so worth watching just for the song.

under the pink (Eye of the Needle, s1 e7)
Oh man, Eye of the Needle is a banger. After six episodes vaguely circling a concept, this show attempts the most obvious gambit in its box of tricks, and what do you know, they nail it!
The thing about Star Trek: Voyager is that its premise is a lot of fun, but it is also the premise of Gilligan's Island. This similarity is not disqualifying. Most of us enjoy a good try-fail cycle, the same way we enjoy watching Shakespeare's tragic heroes bite it at the end of a play. Still, a conundrum: if you are writing for Voyager, your characters need to make an occasional doomed bid to get off the island, but if you return to that well too often, you are writing a sixties sitcom and cannot expect anyone to take you very seriously.
This episode, probably my favorite of the show's first two seasons, works because it is exceptionally well-crafted, and because it has heart. Here we have super competent people doing their darnedest to problem-solve their way across the galaxy, only for each triumph to be answered with a smarting reversal.
It's so engaging, because on an emotional level, they do succeed. "Eye of the Needle" is also a Cold War story, a portrayal of connection across societies that would do Ursula K. Le Guin proud. It's super understated - our Romulan contact, Telek, who shares his name only in the last act, gradually softens toward the Federation crew despite being literal worlds apart. He, too, too, is a man separated from his family, and without much fuss becomes their ally, making the double tragedy of the ending all the more affecting.
(Enemies to lovers is great and all, but give me more stories about enemies who become slightly friendly acquaintances who do favors for one another. Like, yes, Crowley and Aziraphale are fucking, but also, what about the first time Crowley lent Aziraphale his flat key so that Aziraphale could plant-sit for him? Ugh, my heart.)
Anyway, that's a lot of words, and I haven't even talked about Janeway in her nightie. I guess we'd better get that out of the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a beautifully acted scene. Voyager has been hailing the Romulan vessel, and Janeway is asleep when Telek finally answers. In her darkened quarters she conducts an incredibly high-stakes negotiation with a stranger from an enemy society. The conversation is tense and formal, representatives of warring governments trying to understand one another - but it's also intimate, two people connecting across incredible distances, suspended in the loneliness of space.
Janeway is wearing just the shiniest nightgown, more 80s than 90s in its soft femme reimagining of Star Trek aesthetics, and what is probably Too Much Wig. My heart certainly did a little va-da-voom when I saw this image as the thumbnail for the episode, not because I have any deep affinity for women in baby pink rayon, but because as little, queer fankids in the mid-90s we lived for any hint that the characters that snagged our hearts had inner lives or, heaven forbid, private lives.
For women and AFAB people, private lives have generally been cast as feminine lives. Here the costuming reminds us that Janeway is a captain but also a woman, she is soft but strong, etc. Later in the episode, there's a framed Mark & Mollie photo to remind us this woman has a man and a dog to get home to. Janeway's femininity is necessary to her role as captain; only a man is allowed his solitude and hard edges.
A podcaster I follow recently described herself as "gender unsubscribed," a phrase that has stuck in my brain. I am not exactly gender unsubscribed, not because the unsolicited messages of a gender binary world do very much for me, but because "queer woman" seems as close as language is going to get at this moment in time. And, while nostalgia does not a gender identity make, I do have a certain affinity with the old junk mail stuffed in the shoeboxes of my mind (well, with the 1998 dELIA*s catalog at least.)
All this to say that I am never not going to be confused by a nineties evocation of a hot, feminine lady. I am abruptly 10 years old again, and being told that this is who I should want to be, but not who I am supposed to want. And as for any other variety of womanhood to be or want, well, they're out there, but they're mostly subtext.
I must note that my growing infatuation is undercut somewhat by the introduction of Janeway as a soup drinker. Picard has his earl grey tea, Sisko his raktajino, but when Janeway isn't scavenging for coffee she drinks vegetable bouillon, which is frankly weird behavior and the biggest waste of a replicator ration I can conceive of.
The last subplot I'll mention is the Doctor's, because I really like how he's at cross-purposes with the rest of the crew. Even as they're trying to get home, the Doctor's best hope of a meaningful life and a firmer sense of personhood is for them to take the long way home - if they abandon the ship, it's curtains for him. When Kes advocates for him with Janeway, Janeway has to step back and become, uncharacteristically, a hands-off manager - asking the Doctor what he needs and giving him autonomy as a result. It's a sign that her leadership skills may be adapting to the Delta Quadrant, though I'm not super hopeful that it will become a trend.
Other notable character moments: Kes saying brightly, "it would be interesting to see an autopsy sometime"; Tom Paris, in a move that I guess is weird homosocial teasing but sure looks like flirting, suggesting they call the wormhole the Harry Kim wormhole.
Just a fantastic episode - 5/5 test cylinders with a varietal molecular matrix. It's not even the last really good season one episode, so that's something.

My Father's Brother | JJK series E7
Tumblr media
You woke up feeling a heavy arm's wrapped around your waist. Slowly opening your eyes and saw him, he's still peacefully sleeping right beside you.
Part of you is happy seeing him still here with you but also there's part of you that terrifies you. You're scared that what if he wasn't serious about what he said last night. You're scared that he's just playing with you.
You sigh as you look at the ceiling, you sigh as you look over your window. It's still dark outside. And something stupid suddenly came across your mind.
It's a terrible idea yet you knew it will satisfied you so you decided to do it. You look at him and slowly removed his arms around you as you walk out of your room.
Holding a cold water oh your hand as you slowly opened the room and walk in, avoiding to make any noises. You successful arrived Infront of the bed and watches her sleeping peacefully.
How dare she sleep so peaceful when she literally let herself get fucked up by your man. Yes your man cause the moment he put his arms around you. You knew you like him and your decision is final.
You sigh and slowly pulled the blanket down, showing her nked buddy under the black clothed silk blanket. Seeing the scene Infront of you made your blood boil in anger as a smirk appear on the edge of your lips. Throwing the cold water to her sleeping figure as you watches her started jumping on the bed.
You started laughing while looking at her. She widened her eyes as her spirit is fully awaken after the cold water touches her whole body.
She saw you laughing. She looked at you as if she's about to kill you, she immediately grabbed the blanket and wrapped it aroused her body.
Walking towards you that made you stop yourself from laughing and look at her. Crossing your arms together and raise your other eye brows while standing infront of her.
"Who the hell are you?! And how could you do something like that?!" She started shouting at you but as strong pain straitly came across her she stopped talking and look back at you again.
"How dare you slap me!?" She shouted for the second time and it irritates you. Gosh she's so loud she might wake up my man.
You again slap the other side of her cheek and grabbed her by her neck as you made her look at you. Staring at her eyes as you tighten the grip on her neck.
"And how dare you sleep with my man?" You said calmly yet the anger is visible to your eyes. You're literary burning her with your eyes.
"I want you to leave my house now because I even call a police for trespassing." You said as you pushed her on the ground.
You stand up there leading your head to the door frame while watching the woman running with only blanket wrapped around her chest.
She deserves it. She sleeps with your man and she just deserves the embarrassment she's about to get. You can't just stand on your feet watching her leave without doing anything. She should know who's she's competing to before touching what's yours.
It's not her fault, yes that's right but in your eyes it's all her fault for seducing him. Jungkook will always be the good one for you whatever his mistakes were, you will make yourself believe that it's other mistake and not his.
And that's how crazy you we're for him, that's how crazy he made you for himself. You're slowly turning into his psycho little girl without him realizing.
Jungkook woke up as he look around and didn't find you, he open the door and left your room. Walking down stairs and entered the kitchen.
You saw him. He look at you and look back at the fridge. You were taken a back by his action and it triggers you. Did he suddenly forgot all the things that happened yesterday?.
No. That can't be happening, you must make him remember everything. You already made up your mind, and this aren't stopping you. You had to make him remember what he said.
You walk towards him. You stand up right behind him, you knew he can feel your presence.
"I already made up my mind, I wanted to commit with you gguk." You said and he just humm as an answer. Is he fucking kidding you?.
You scuffed and laughed under your breath. You walk to his side and close the door of the refrigerator. He looks at you and look at him in confused.
"What do you mean by that?" You said as you just stared at him. He stares back. You're about to open your mouth when he suddenly pushes you to the fridge. Pinning you on the door of it and kisses you passionately.
"You had to be sure about that. I aren't gonna stop in the middle just because you didn't want me anymore. I'll hunt you down till the end" he said as he kisses you again.
Fuck he's so hot, how can he makes you feel this way, you're getting weak and wanting to dropped on your knees Infront of him.
You continue kissing him, sucking his tongue and wrapped your arms around his neck.
Someone called out your name. It's a boy, you both broke the kiss and look around, you separate yourself away from Jungkook as soon as you so the man.
Did you totally forgot the existence of your boyfriend just because you've gone crying chasing after your father's brother?
And right now Eunwoo  there looking for you, while you're in the arms of other man. Not just other man but your uncle.

Kat! how are you feeling? what are your thoughts on the way buck's heading? honestly i am pretty excited, I am hoping for a lot of angst (just because) while buck grows and learns that he deserves to have and set boundaries and that he doesn't only exist to serve other people etc (something something going through a paralel journey in therapy rn so! love to see it! go babygirl! realize your selfworth). and uh. lowkey highkey hope something happens to him in the mid-season finale lmao. ALSO. DID YOU SEE HEN! HANDLING THE CHAINSAW! IDK why but that was v nice to see. And the fact that hen can't keep still (relatable) and that buck went to her and they just decided to get blasted...love them so much. Also Bobby and the dog...just. people were saying how empty their house is and bobby saw the dog and went 'guess it's mine now' (which brings me to: didn't hen & fam have a dog way back? one she rescued from a collapsed building?). GOD AND EDDIE! Don't get me started! He's growing so much, and love to see that his father is actively working on himself and his bond with his son too!!! That whole scene with christopher had me ahw-ing all the way through, he's doing such a good job, i love love love that for him!!
ah anon!! i hadn't watched the episode yet when you sent this so i had to wait to reply—i'm still dealing with some truly obnoxious jetlag that's keeping me up late in italy so i just caught up on everything. don't worry you didn't spoil anything!! i spoiled myself on EVERYTHING last night as the ep was airing 😂
re:buck i'm waiting to see where this story goes. personally i don't really think it's gonna actually end up with him successfully donating his sperm and having a biological child out in the world. and honestly i'm just a little wary of this arc bc i personally hate tv's track record when talking about adoption/sperm donor's/surrogacy/etc. like...love the drunk scene! but if buck donates his sperm he is NOT a father walking away. sometimes i think tv gets really hung up on blood/biological relations and i find it Particularly Aggravating. (of course that doesn't mean that BUCK doesn't think or feel that way, and i'm totally okay with him struggling with those feelings—i just am wary of the story/writers/etc validating those feelings as correct™)
hen handling the whole call at the star was SO fucking good and impressive and hot and just. YEAH QUEEN, YOU'RE GREAT AT BEING CAPTAIN.
hen did bring a dog home that she rescued in the s2 earthquake, but tbh i don't know if we ever saw that dog again? we might've when denny was playing in the park but i can't remember.
eddie still looked so bummed after his final talk with chris and all i can say is—that man needs a boyfriend to occupy his time as chris gets more independence and buck is RIGHT THERE (speaking of, buck was DEFINITELY yearning while listening to connor and his wife talk about how they met and fell in love. he wants a partner so bad!!)
anyway, it was a VERY good episode. i'm looking fwd to when this buck donor plot is picked back up in e7 (when i'll be back in the states and can actually!! watch it live!!)

beca…. E7 blew my mind. The drama, the fight, the love, hungry for power It covered everything.
The kids fighting scene made ut intense and I feel this conflict will run for generations to come. Aemond riding Vhagar was epic. And Haleana predicted this is E6 saying something along the lines ‘he will lose one eye’.
Alicent striking Rhaenyra is everything. That scene made me feel how much Otto is manipulating her. Daemon stooping criston. Loved the scene. Killed it.
Leanor escaping, thank god they didn’t kill him!!
DAEMON AND RHAENRYA WEDDING??? that’s something I didn’t expect at all.
Larys, Otto, Cristen are no no characters for me
anaya! sorry taking so long to answer you! things are hectic here! elections are going on and the country is a mess especially now that we're having a second round. my anxiety is on the roof! (not mentioning work, college and life happening) ANYWAYS, let's talk about good things!
i LOVED E7, even though the dark scenes bothered me a bit, i had to watch it with my room all dark to see a thing lol but WOW! when the kids were fighting i was almost screaming for the knife lmao AND VHAGAR!!! my old gorgeous lady!!! omg i'm still amazed with that scene!! man... Otto... when i saw he was back i was furious! haiushdas and that snort from criston cole????? that man is 🤬🤬🤬 and yeah, Daemon stopping him... BABY! i wanted to kiss him lmao rhaenyra telly alicent she was showing her true face???? DRACARYYYYS!!
leanor leaving was so great! i was worried all the time not believing the showrunners were going to make us dislike rhaenyra but then... phew!! THAT WEDDING WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!!
have you read the book or are you just following the show?
and yeah larys, otto and criston cole (viserys sometimes) are the worst!
are you ready for the next episode? have your heard anything about it? i'm asking because i don't want to give spoilers in case you don't follow hbo's social medias and haven't watched the teaser! i can't wai!!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing about JJ Maybank is that most people or mainly most authority figures and law enforcement would see and describe him as trouble or a rule breaker. That he was destined to end up just like where he came from.
You and your friends however, the people that really knew him, understood that that was not his true self. He was loyal, and the kind of person that would do absolutely anything for his friends. The kind of person that would take the fall for Pope sinking a kooks boat, knowing he would be punished instead.
Although this was a admirable trait it didn't always work out for JJ. He felt the need to make sure his friends never saw him break, or need help so they could not be in the position to fill his shoes and get hurt on his behalf. He wouldn't want the pity or guilt. Weather he could help it or not he felt as if he didn't deserve that. He figured that he would always remain strong for you and the pogues.
Therefore, with the intention to protect his girlfriend, he failed to mention the abuse he endures from his dad, leaving you in the dark.
———
You and the pogues were supposed to meet at John Bs house this afternoon. You wanted to check on JJ since you haven't heard from him in a while, figuring you can go to John Bs together.
Assuming his whereabouts was at his house, as he wasn't with your friends you decided to go over.
What you didn't expect was a man sitting outside on the porch, with a open bottle of beer working on a motor.
He lifted his head when he heard the crunching of the branches beneath your feet. "Oh hi you must be JJs dad, I'm y/n." you spoke softly, smiling. "I um, was just wondering if you knew where he was?"
He threw his tools down on the table, "that piece of shit ain't here," he grunted. "hell, i don't even care if he dares come back."
Your mouth dropped open, shocked at his statement. You felt a twist in your stomach and your chest felt tight. The atmosphere around you suddenly felt uncomfortable to be in. You wanted to stand up for JJ but it came out weak, "what-what do you mean?"
Luke was standing up now, walking near you, "who are you anyway? one of his whores?"
Your whole body froze, although your blood felt hot through your veins. You simply stared wide eyed and struck with fear.
His hand was coming at your shoulder giving you a push, "you gonna answer me bitch?"
Luke looked ready to take his anger out on you, but a loud rumble prevented this from partaking and broke his attention.
JJ was driving his dirt bike zipping down the lawn. He threw the vehicle on the ground, his legs carried him almost as fast as his racing heart to get in front of you.
You watched him, holding your breath. He only glanced at you but you saw the worry and fear behind his eyes. JJ saw the scene unfold as he picked up speed on his bike and all he thought about was you being hurt. that his worst nightmare was becoming his reality.
He pushed his father back away from you, "don't fucking touch her!" he spat between punches. "you can't do that." JJ continued to wrestle his dad onto the ground as you sobbed, "yeah beat the shit out of me, but don't you dare go near her. ever again" he huffed.
The tears that collected in his eyes were beginning to fall as he picked up a wrench. "I'm done, I'm not scared of you anymore okay!" JJ hovered the metal wrench over his dad's face, blood on his teeth from when his dad tried to fight back. "you ruined my life! you don't get to ruin my only form of happiness too."
Luke watched as JJ tossed the tool back on the ground and left him groaning on the floor.
JJ quickly went over to you in a flash grabbing your arm and doing his best to get you out of there as quick as possible. "come on, let's go."
You had a million thoughts in your head ready to scream them, but JJ seemed too focused on leaving not in the mood to talk just yet.
He patted the back of his bike indicating for you to get on behind him. You shakily clung on to him as he drove off.
When you arrived at a secluded area, somewhere between the hawks nest and the abandoned church. You carefully got off the bike, as JJ stayed in place staring at the ground.
"JJ" you decided to speak, ever so softly.
"what we're you thinking? you shouldn't have- you can't just- fuck y/n" he ran his hands through his hair.
Both your cheeks were stained with tears as you tried to help him in anyway you could, "J-" you reached for his arm.
He turned and looked at you directly, "no y/n, i mean it. you can't come to my house. you can't just go over there. you can't be near my dad. every time i've shown up with a busted lip and bruised eye it wasn't topper or rafe. I mean sometimes but mostly my dad. you can't just go to my house ok?" he sighed, standing up and pushing his hands up your sides. His eyes were watery again and you felt your whole heart break in half.
You squeezed him sniffling. "I'm sorry" you said, voice muffled by his chest. "why didn't you tell me" you quickly wiped one of your tears that had fallen.
"I-I thought I was protecting you in some way, ya know cause he won't hesitate to do the same to you and I couldn't couldn't risk-"
"hey hey, it's okay." you smushed yourself back into him rubbing his back as you hugged him. "I just want to be there for you. please let me do that. you don't have to go back there."
Breaking away every so slightly, JJ gently held your face. His other arm resting on your neck, he trailed his thumb from your temple all the way down to your chin, stopping there and lifting your face up to look at him. His eyes searched yours, looking for some sign of hesitation or doubt. That now that you saw his wounds, his family scars that you still wanted this, that it didn't make you want to run far away or leave him.
"I-I don't wanna be anywhere else, except for with you." he paused taking a nervous breath, "wanna go escape for a little while?"
You knew where he wanted to take you. The little hideout you both stumbled upon when you first started dating. A secret get away just for the two of you, without the outside world prying in.
With a fatigued smile and heart stuttering, you replied "yeah, we should get going before it gets dark."
Your walk towards your little safe haven was quiet as you appreciated the presence of another. The days events took a toll on you both.
As you walked deeper up your little trail, traveling and aiming to get away, you stopped at a wooden ladder. He let you go up the rickety steps first, reminding you to watch out for the broken one. He took hold of your heal as he went behind you, pushing you through the door.
There was not much in there except for a rug, a mattress, a few blankets and a couple LED candles stolen from your cabinet.
JJ sat down against the tree house wall, taking a breath of relief to be away from all that fighting, and swung his backpack over his lap. You taking your rightful place next to him, leaned your head on his shoulder asking, "you sure you're ok?"
Taking out his lighter, and wrapping a arm around your shoulder, "fine now baby."
“are you okay? did he hurt you?
“I’m fine J, fine.”
———
"Where are they?" Kiara questioned as she turned to Sarah in the kitchen.
"You think something happened to them?" Pope said leaning against the counter.
"I mean when JJ came over and we told him y/n wasn't here, he looked really worried." Sarah commented.
John B stood up, "come on we can go look for them."
———
You had both settled down, laying on the mattress and looking up at the wooden ceiling. The light from the stars fluttered in from the small window, illuminating the room, as you chose to save the batteries on your candles.
Your fingers were interlaced as you loosely swung your hands side to side. "you know that I'll always love you, right?" you turned your head facing him, wanting him to see the truth behind your eyes as you spoke.
The confession expressed in the lateness of the night, brought a sense of comfort and a much needed moment of tranquility.
JJ felt you breathed life back into him, filling him back up with joy after a horrific series of events.
He brought your hand up and placed it over his heart as he looked down at you, "I know. I love you too y/n, so fucking much."
You smiled as your cheeks warmed as he began to press a series of kisses to the back of your hand.
"Thank you for telling me about your dad." you whispered. Your heart already started clenching and you felt your stomach drop of the thought of this again. Your favorite human going through all this alone for who knows how long. "you don't deserve that."
He nodded. Then he tugged at your hand pulling your body closer to him as he buried his face in your chest. Your legs intertwined and you threaded your fingers through his hair. You told him that it's ok, that he's safe, that your safe and continued to whisper soothing thoughts and words of praise.
"JJ" you said a little louder but still in a hushed tone. He only gave a small hum response. His limbs were tired and heavy. He was perfectly fine staying here for the rest of his days. He became finally relaxed under your touch.
"do you think they'll be wondering where we are?" you asked. As you never did turn up to the meeting with the other pogues like you said you would.
"they'll live" he mumbled causing you to giggle.
The both of you let slumber overtake you, wrapped up in each others embrace.
———
The Twinkie slowed down as Kiara shouted, "wait wait stop, That's JJ's bike."
JJ's bike stood leaning against a tree, a little ways away from the road. John B brought the Twinkie to a halt as the crew jumped out.
"Yep, that's definitely JJ's bike" Pope confirmed as the group of friends walked up to the area.
"Then where is he?" Sarah spoke utterly confused.
"Do you think they'd go up here?" Kiara asked pointing to the tiny trail behind a bush.
"Might as well look" John B said already making his way down over to the path.
When they arrived at the end of the trail with a surrounding patch of trees they all seemed to be impressed.
"How come we never seen or herd of this." Kiara furrowed her eyebrows looking at the mini house up on a huge tree.
"dunno" John B muttered as he started climbing the ladder.
"bet their up there" Sarah smirked.
The pogues all followed John B up the steps and entered the little porch. Pope opened the door and they all peaked their heads in.
As much as they wanted to tease the hell out of their friends, their little hearts were so happy to see their best buds in love. They were safe and sound surrounded with fluffy blankets and sandwiched together.
"aw look at them"
"ooh very cozy"
"see their perfectly fine. they would never let anything happen to each-other."
"so cute"
"guys! you'll wake them up, let's go!"

from a post finale haze i bring you: deeply disorganized thoughts about jim/olu, more or less centered around e7 but we all saw that finale. you all understand why i got three and a half hours of sleep. complaints about any interpretive jazz-esque sentence structure can be tied to the leg of a magical seagull and sent direct to david jenkins himself as he is to blame.
- why not start at the obvious thing right off the top: they nearly kissed, team. WE ALMOST HAD IT. olu leaned in. jim leaned back. the space between their beautiful wonderful faces was ALMOST. GONE.
it’s such a great mutual approach, too. jim’s smirk morphs into staring and then olu moves closer and jim moves closer still and they are SO IN SYNC. they have only been a team for a year and olu just found out jim’s favorite color like an hour ago, but they are a goddamned perfectly functioning unit.
- which makes me go back to the scene where olu gets to hang out in the house and nana says she likes olu and asks if he’s jim’s husband. there’s such a great rapport between the two of them right there! after jim notably doesn’t say no (and neither does olu! he just looks pleased) and they have this soft eye exchange of ‘seriously???’/’what, i’m just having fun!’ jim sort of... softens as nana goes to look outside at jim’s found idiot family they dragged back home with them and i think a lot of it is because jim did find a home with these big ol’ dopes and they’re fond of the whole lot of them.
but the rest i would argue has a lot to do with how well olu fits into this side of jim’s life, too. the crew is outside, walls still between them and jim: olu is in the house. they didn’t want to go home and face the proverbial music, sure, but i think there’s a piece there where jim was afraid bringing olu to see nana would break the spell, and instead olu is happily getting along with everybody’s favorite murdernun and sitting at the table easy as you please and that opens the avenue that this thing with olu could be for real and for keeps.
- which makes me wonder: is this a story where jim’s favorite color is teal because olu’s earring is teal, or is this a story where the day they met jim met a beautiful man with kind eyes who already wore their favorite color? (or is this a story where jim met a man with a different earring and they bought that one for olu because they wanted to see him in their favorite color goddamnit now i’m having feelings at the mere potential.)
- extra shoutout to the way olu calls out “JIM. YOU DID NOT DO ENOUGH MURDER, MY SOUL BLEEDS WITH DISAPPOINTMENT IN YOU” was a damaging interaction for jim. we love a ride or die bitch, especially when they have kind eyes and hilarious line delivery.
- which brings me to: “if you wanted... i could be family”. pain. sheer beautiful pain. not erasing what came before, but adding to; nana is Part of You, but i could be yours as well. it’s so, so sweet and supportive and then the way jim RESPONDS. the acting on this show, i’m mad about it and i’m gonna die mad about it. jim’s gaze flicks away but then we are BACK, THERE IS A SLIGHT GRIN. A LEGIT GRIN. and then that glorious mutual approach i already yelled about.
- and because i didn’t mention it above, the little “holy shit, we almost kissed! wow, huh?” look they share after stede rolls up to ruin the moment. SO CUTE.
- which brings me to the goodbye, where olu doesn’t try to talk jim out of it just supports their choices and makes it clear olu remains a safe place to land, no matter what. he gives them this little adorable almost hug and then: the hat slap.
i am obsessed with this little motion. it’s fucking adorable, first off, but it’s also possibly the physical manifestation of why this ship has burrowed into my heart and made its home there.
like: we know jim trusts olu. they allowed olu to watch their back and even speak for them before they found their own voice as jim. i know there’s an in-world reason for that, but the METAPHOR. i wanna eat it like izzy ate his own toe. when jim couldn’t raise their voice, they trusted olu to have the right words.
add to that olu knows jim is scary! he just got finished telling nana he watched the revenge murder go down and honest, it was super vengeful. no notes, shocked faces all around. (sidenote: i want to know how that all happened. did olu know shit was gonna go down or just help jim get out of dodge after? probably that last one, but inquiring minds!)
the point is that olu knows who jim is in their entirety, from the revenge thriller canon they were born into and the muppet hijinks they have now embraced. and olu still slaps the brim of jim’s hat because just like he’s a safe space for jim, they’re a safe place for olu.
- i can’t wait for olu’s backstory. i will ASCEND. i need it. jim clearly fills a hole in his heart and i want to know e v e r y t h i n g. i need to see how they met. EVERYTHING.
- and finally, because it doesn’t fit anywhere else but i want to add it: if i’m going with the grand unifying theory of jim following The Call to Muppet while izzy does not that makes the way they handle lucius in e3 extra hilarious. that is a muppet-ass plan if i have ever seen one!!!! and in a muppet movie somebody could survive being chucked over the side in a box/footlocker/whatever that was by simply floating to the nearest island, i’m js. (yes i’m a lucius lives truther, now and forever. IN A MUPPET MOVIE, YOU LIVE. THE END.)

Left and Right Back Pockets, Red and Green, Black and White
Most of the credit for these observations goes to @wdway, but I have some @frangipanilove in here, too. We’ve had detailed discussions about these things.  😉 And I think you all will find some interest here. It’s a great example of how these symbols all intertwine.
@wdway:
I'm going to share a rabbit hole I went down almost two weeks ago. I've been spending a little time each day looking at a few episodes and this may be hard to believe but what I thought would be straightforward and fairly quick turned out to have several side tunnels. Who would have guessed?
Tumblr media
Daryl a year from when we first saw him at his river camp. He just passed the two iron steaks in the tree and is taking drinks from his green water bottle when Dog runs up to him. My eyes went to the red rag in his back pocket. I got to thinking about the fact that we have not seen the rag in a long time. Or at least, I didn't think we had, but here, in Daryl's memory of the past, he has this red rag which to me screams RED FLAG.
That rag was part of his costume from the beginning of the series. It was always hanging out of his right back pocket. I believe tptb decided to feature it in s4 and to use it as a half of a symbol representing Daryl & Beth. Daryl's red rag & Beth's green journal.
Tumblr media
(Ignore the bit about Aaron. This is from a different theory and I was too lazy to take another one.  😉 )
The shots of Daryl on the path in FM reminded me of another similar shot from Alone. I'm going to do a comparison of the two shots 1) will be from FM. 2) will be from Alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1) Daryl carrying a Green backpack.
2) Daryl carrying Beth Greene.
1) Daryl with a Green water bottle.
2) Beth Greene = water.
1) Red rag in Daryl's right back pocket.
2) Red rag in Daryl's right back pocket.
1) Daryl's left back pocket holds a map (paper) of his journey for the last year(s).
2) Beth's left back pocket that above Daryl's holds her journal (paper) of her last year(s).
1) Dog=Beth.
2) Beth.
I asked myself, how long has it been since we've seen Daryl with the red rag in his back pocket? I did an episode search to find out. We last saw it in what I think of as a two-episode storyline that ended season 6, Last Day On Earth and began season 7, The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be.
Tumblr media
The first shot is from s6e16. We barely see the red rag in Daryl's pocket as he's taking a swing at Negan which leads to Glenn's death. The second shot is from s7e1.
Tumblr media
Again, we barely see the red rag in his pocket as Dwight is loading Daryl into the van to go to the Sanctuary. We never see the red rag in Daryl's pocket again. Until the flashbacks in FM.
We have seen Daryl with something in his right back pocket starting in s6 through the present: a black and white bandana.
Tumblr media
The funny thing is, that too, or one just like it, was featured in S4. We saw Daryl wear it as a mask when he was digging graves.
Tumblr media
We then saw him give it to Beth in Inmates. She put grapes in it and wore it tied to the left side of her belt. Which ties both the red rag and the black and white bandana to both Beth and Daryl.
Tumblr media
Thinking of the red rag as a half symbol representing Daryl & Beth, there was another symbol of Beth that Daryl wore on his left side that we first saw in s4, Beth's knife. She wore it on her right side in Still and then in Alone, they found a gun for her and she switched it to her left side. In s5e10, Them, Daryl started wearing her knife on his left side, his knife on his right. The last time we saw him wear the knife was in s6e11, Knots Untie, just a few episodes before the red rag disappeared from his costume.
Tumblr media
Like I mentioned before, I've been searching through episodes. I did not search every episode from S4 through the present, but I searched quite a few and I didn’t see the red rag again. At least, not Daryl wearing it, and that really bothered me because it seemed like I had seen it recently.
The other day, I watched s10e10, Stalker. This was an episode that we had high hopes for because of the 10/10 paper clock in Beth's room at Grady. There was hope of seeing Beth, or at least having some major clues about her, and yet there didn't seem to be anything major. We saw symbolism of her, of course. Especially in the garage scene, there is a white T-Bird with an open trunk, red fire extinguishers, an open roof. Then, when I watched the episode the other day, it clicked and things just fell into place. Things I had seen so many times in my re-watches suddenly had new meaning and new symbolism.
Daryl hiding behind a tool chest. On the other side is the open trunk car. Look what's hanging from the cabinet door next to him, or more importantly, to the right side of him. It's a RED RAG, just like what he wore in his right back pocket until a few episodes after Beth's knife disappeared.
Tumblr media
Speaking of back pockets as in seen from the back. If you had any doubts of tptb's meaning this one was the major hints we were looking for but just didn't see.
Tumblr media
Ever so convenient that there happened to have been a piece of the cabinet cut out and we can see Daryl eyes peeking over from the back with the RED RAG on his right side. Also in this shot is a yellow mop bucket, similar to the ones that we saw both with Beth at Grady and with Daryl at the Sanctuary.
Tumblr media
It's pretty obvious that tptb wanted us to see the damn knife in Daryl's left leg along with the red rag just behind his right side. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I'm going to point it out, anyway. It was Beth's left leg that was hurt in Alone and she switched her knife from her right side to her left, which is also the side on which Daryl wore her knife.
Another thing I want to point out is that starting in s9, Daryl wore 2 knives, one on each side. We saw him after the time jump in e7, Stradivarius wearing the 2 knives along with the black & white bandana in his back right-side pocket. If you go to s9e14, Scars in both the present time and the flashback set 9 months after Rick's body went missing, Daryl is wearing 2 knives and the black & white bandana.
In FM, Daryl is only wearing one knife on his right side, no knife on his left. A red rag in his right back pocket that he hadn't worn since s7e1, in his left back pocket a paper Journal I meant map haha. One more note, he's holding his Greene water bottle in his right hand. What does all of this mean?
My theory is that the red rag represents Daryl and the time when he was part of a couple with Beth. He was the red to her green. Even more importantly than that, I believe the writers are using the red rag as a red flag that what Daryl remembers is not correct. What we're seeing in his telling of his story to Carol is intensely colored both figuratively and literally by his PTSD, his self-inflicted loneliness and desire to belong to someone. His wounded plea for someone to find him. I'm not crying, you're crying. Who am I kidding? We're all crying for Daryl.
This is from e1 of this season, Lines We Cross. It is the scene where Carol has just got off the boat and is talking to Ezekiel and in the background, we see Daryl and Connie talking. The camera focuses on Daryl and Connie, so it's obvious that tptb wanted us to focused and on his back pockets. (I certainly do not have a problem with them focusing on his sweet behind haha.)
Tumblr media
The writers’ goal would be for the general audience to realize that Daryl has a book on sign language in his back pocket. This makes a very sweet statement about Daryl taking the extra step to find a book so he could communicate with Connie.
For me, this is showing a lot of other things. First, it is drawing attention to his back pockets which will be a theme through this season, especially at the end of e21 when tptb somewhat more subtly focuses on Daryl's back pockets, where he has the black and white bandana that I believe represents Beth. That part I've already talked about before, so let me just make a couple of statements about this scene, this particular shot.
Yes, there is a sign language book in the left back pocket, the back pocket that Beth carried her diary and where she put the Washington DC spoon. This is a very significant, symbolic, purposeful decision the writers made. Anything that Daryl carries in his left back pocket symbolically ties to Beth.
The way I interpret what I am seeing is that the book is obviously a representation of Connie. It means that there is a tie or will be a tie between her (remember this is the first episode) and Beth in the season. In hindsight, Connie was in the cave and possibly dead. Then she was just gone/missing, and there has been a search for her.
The other thing I want to point out is you can see a little bit of the black and white bandana in Daryl's right pocket in this shot. He originally carried his red rag, and now he has carried this black and white bandana. The most important thing that comes away from this is that the writers made the decision at the beginning of the season about his bandana and which pockets were used to tie Daryl to a particular character.
@frangipanilove:
I want to thank you for tracing the red rag, because that was something I wanted to do, but never got around to. I share your opinion on how it stood out when it appeared again in his flashback. And I do agree that it’s a red flag.
There are other red flags as well. I think they all point to resurrection. I believe the red plastic bag hanging from an antenna of a car in Coda is a RED FLAG. I feel like red flag = red flag, like the ones you get when you get signals that something not quite right.
So, you say it’s showing that Daryl’s not remembering right, I’d probably choose different words to explain it but essentially, I interpret it in a similar way. Backpack and back pocket = “come back”, return, resurrection, Sirius symbolism.
Map is synonymous with Beth’s DC spoon, which she put in her back pocket and later in her backpack. We also see a representation of this symbolism when Daryl shows up in 10x1 with an ASL book in his back pocket. It’s a reference to Beth’s green notebook she kept in her back pocket but also a reference to Daryl’s “the signs are all there, you just gotta know how to read them.”
The backpack symbolism is something we saw when Daryl carried Beth piggyback style across the cemetery, a parallel to Carol throwing the backpack across the river in FM. The wings on Daryl’s BACK are also a part of this symbolism. We saw how the vest was laying in the ground on the episode where Denise died. He also drank the Danville bridge whiskey, which is a reference to the bridge symbolism about crossing over the river/crossing over to the dead side.
About the red rag in 10x10, we did discuss it, and it stood out, but to me I didn’t know where to place it in the greater scope of the symbolism back then, and honestly I’d kind of forgotten it since, so thanks for bringing it back around again. Again, I believe it stands for resurrection, and we saw it in relation to the t-bird(BIRD) with open trunk. Bird = helicopter, trunk = resurrection. Helicopter + resurrection is a reference to how Rick survived (remember, he fell of the BRIDGE between the realms of the living and the dead, he was washed up on the bank of the river, rejected by the death realm)
@twdmusicboxmystery:
The only thing I want to add to this has to do with an edit I made quite a long time ago. As @frangi already said, this left/right theme extends to Daryl’s wings. So it was significant and purposeful that when Beth hugged him in still, she laid her cheek against his left wing. That’s the one that represents her, so it’s only fitting.
Tumblr media
In thinking about this, I got to thinking about how Daryl lost one of the wings on his vest. We’ve always assumed that represented Beth because, clearly, he lost her. But I’m rethinking that a bit, now. Especially given that at the beginning of FM, when he sits by the river, his wing is still present on his vest.
Judith made him a new wing in Morningstar and sort of “gave him back” his lost wing, right?
And I’m not saying this ISN’T a foreshadow of Beth. It very well may be. But we also find, again and again, that these symbols have multiple meanings. Based on this left/right evidence, I simply want to put another interpretation forth.
Based on what’s been pointed out above, which I think is 100% accurate, Daryl’s right wing is more likely to represent…Daryl. His left wing represents Beth and he never lost that.
So I’m wondering if the message is that he never lost Beth, even if he doesn’t know it (“I’m not gonna leave you.”). But in his grief and PTSD, he lost himself. That’s why the wing is still present at the beginning of FM, but has disappeared by the end, and we don’t see how.
It was taking care of Judith, after the time jump, that really brought Daryl back to himself, his family, and civilization at large. Her making him a new wing represents her helping him find himself. And only after he finds himself again will he find Beth.

When Calls the Heart live rambles s8 e7
I absolutely loved Allie in this episode. I'm really glad that the writers are showing how Nathan's and Elizabeth's relationship affects her too. Also, when she was playing pretend in the jail cell, that was so funny I loved it so much. I appreciate small things like that. It brings more personality to the characters and makes the show feel more realistic. And when she invited just Elizabeth to her adoption ceremony! Omg I was not expecting that, and I'm so glad that happened. Elizabeth looked like a deer caught in headlights though lol. I wish that we would have seen the aftermath of that and saw a conversation between them. Maybe in the next episode Elizabeth will tell us what happened afterwards during her writing monologues.
The blanket scene did not disappoint and it went beyond my expectations too. Nathan is such a patient man...wow.
Does anyone else notice how Elizabeth often compliments Lucas with things like...'that's so kind of you' or 'that's so thoughtful'...I mean, she does it a lot, right? It feels like Lucas's kindness is something that is forced on us, like we need to be told how good he is instead of letting his actions speak for him, so it's kind of weird and just another thing that makes me think Lucas isnt right for Elizabeth and team Nathan will win in the end.
The preview...ooooooohhhh yo this is gonna be good. I am both excited and afraid to watch next week. *squeals*

Killing Eve: Episode Analysis
*SPOILERS*
Season 3, Episode 1 - Slowly Slowly Catchy Monkey
Tumblr media
The first episode of Season 3 begins about 6 months after the events in Rome, from the end of the last season, and starts with Villanelle getting married to a woman named Maria - now Villanelle doesn’t have a job, she needs a way to support herself financially so she does this via Maria.
During her wedding speech, Villanelle refers to Eve as “my ex”. In S2E1 when she was speaking to Gabriel in the hospital, she also referred to Eve as “my girlfriend”. Both of these instances show us how Villanelle has considered that she and Eve were in a ‘relationship’ of some sort for all this time.
When Villanelle finds that Dasha has turned up to her “special day”, the same shots are repeated from S2E3. Villanelle runs up to Dasha and then tackles her to the ground, which is shot in the same way as when Villanelle runs up to Konstantin and then hugs him in S2E3. The choice to repeat the same shots is implemented to emphasise the difference in Villanelle’s relationship with Konstantin and Dasha (both people who had a big impact on Villanele while she was growing up) - after being separated from Konstantin, Villanelle fondly hugs him; but after being apart from Dasha for so long, Villanelle feels nothing but anger towards her.
Tumblr media
When Villanelle is reunited with Dasha, after Dasha crashed Villanelle’s wedding, she keeps calling Villanelle “Oksana” and so Villanelle tells her “you call me, Villanelle”. This is small but clever little detail. Through just this act of Dasha calling Villanelle the wrong name, we are told that Dasha, like Anna, (who also calls her Oksana) is obviously someone who Villanelle knew a long time ago in her past, before she adopted the name ‘Villanelle’.
Tumblr media
We are then reintroduced to Eve, who is doing her shopping in a Korean supermarket in New Malden, London. Not only is Eve buying junk food to stress eat, like she did with the sweets in S2E1, but the convenience food also has a deeper significance. When Eve was with Niko he was always the one who cooked, but now that they’ve separated, Eve doesn’t have anyone to cook for her, so she has to buy things like instant noodles because her lifestyle has changed.
While Eve is paying for her groceries, the woman at the checkout of the Korean supermarket is having a conversation with her friend, where she says “nothing says Romance like Rome” and that she wants to eat “spaghetti” the whole time she’s there. “Spaghetti” is what Eve told Villanelle she’d like her to cook for dinner in S2E8, and the comment that “nothing says Romance like Rome” could have been true for Villanelle and Eve, but for them Rome means tragedy and heartbreak instead.
Tumblr media
We also find out that Eve has taken a job in a Korean restaurant. She’s decided to recoil back into the comfort of her culture, where people speak her mother language and eat food that she’s familiar with (and probably associates with home and family). In the restaurant her job is making the dumplings, which is a repetitive, mindless task, just like when we saw Eve chopping the vegetables for the roast chicken in S2E1.
Eve copes with her trauma in the same way as she did in S2E1, after she shot Villanelle. Not only does she do the repetitive tasks, but she also watches “It’s Not Just Shopping”, which is a teleshopping programme, just like how she listened to Armando trying (and succeeding) to sell her some “really expensive windows”.
However, although she is coping with the two situations in the same way, there is also a big difference between the Eve we see in the beginning of Season 2, and the Eve we see in the beginning of Season 3. In Season 2 Eve allowed herself, and was eager, to be sucked back into chasing after Villanelle when Carolyn recruited her again; whereas in Season 3, Eve is stronger and has a certain defiance in her actions. In Season 3 Eve tells her boss she doesn’t want to work in the front of the restaurant, but wants to remain in the kitchen, even though that means less money and more work. Eve also tells Carolyn, when she comes to see her at the restaurant, that she has no interest in Villanelle and trying to find her again, and it is only to investigate Kenny’s death that she decides to return to working with her.
In the office of the boss of the Korean restaurant, a Korean programme where a man gets shot in the head by a woman in playing on the TV behind her. When Eve is on the bus, there is also someone reading a book called “Vixen’s Bite”, with a woman with a gun on the front cover - Eve cannot seem to escape being reminded of Villanelle and of being shot by her.
Tumblr media
We are then reintroduced to Kenny, at his new job being an investigative journalist at the ‘Bitter Pill’. Kenny has a conversation with Bear, where he says “well, remind me not to rely on you for anything”; which turns out not to be true, as in S3E8 Bear is the one who finds out Konstantin came to visit Kenny on the day he died.
Tumblr media
When Eve is at home, she sends a message to Kenny of a picture of a loo roll. This is a call back to S1E2 when Kenny shows Eve to the toilets at the Trafalgar Office and tells her “it’s best that you bring in your own [loo roll] or it just disappears, how many sheets do you need?”.
Tumblr media
After receiving Eve’s message, Kenny goes over to Eve’s apartment and during their conversation he asks her “are you still in touch with, er...” (meaning Niko), and Eve immediately thought Kenny was referring to Villanelle. Eve’s trying to convince herself (and everyone else) that she’s over Villanelle, not interested in her and not thinking about her; but the fact that Eve immediately jumps to thinking that Kenny is referring to Villanelle, and not her husband, shows that this is definitely not the case.
Tumblr media
In this scene, she is also wearing the grey T-shirt with birds on it that belonged to Niko, he is seen wearing it in S1E1. However, we only see Eve wearing it when she wants comfort; like after Bill’s death in S1E4, and now in this episode when she’s recovering from what happened to her in Rome.
Tumblr media
Later on, when Eve goes to visit Niko at the psychiatric facility, she brings him a bag of fruit pastels, but tells him that she already “ate the green ones for you”. Although Eve probably did this as a caring gesture (since Eve ate them, it’s implied Niko doesn’t like the green ones), it emphasises how Niko still can’t manage to gain control over his own life. Niko wasn’t given the opportunity to try the “green ones” (he may have changed his mind and started to like them) or leave them in the bag himself, Eve had already made the executive decision for him and he wasn’t given the choice to eat the bag of sweets how he wanted to eat them.
Eve eating the green fruit pastels for Niko could also be an indication that this was something that she used to do for him when they were first married/more happily married. If you take this view, then it could be that Eve is trying to simulate how things were previously, or she is being presumptuous that Niko wants things to go back to how they were - but he goes to Poland without telling Eve, so we can see he wants a new start.
Tumblr media
Whilst working in the Korean restaurant’s kitchen, there are two men working behind Eve, who’s conversation mirrors Eve’s relationship with Villanelle. One of the men initially says to the other man, “first it was infatuation, this is love”. This definitely reflects how Villanelle’s relationship with Eve was portrayed; it began as Villanelle’s obsession with Eve because she had hair like Anna, but by the end of Season 2 she claims that it has gone beyond “infatuation” and that she does truly love Eve. This was probably also true for Eve, also beginning as an “infatuation” in Villanelle because she is an assassin, but then developing into a deeper sense of love; but at the end of Season 2, Eve was not ready to come to terms with her feelings, and Villanelle hadn’t reached the point of realising what loving Eve really is.
The next time the two men are having a conversation, Eve interjects by telling the man “you’re not even crying because of her, you’re crying because... because you feel stupid, because you were stupid”. This is obviously how Eve feels about what happened with her and Villanelle - she’s not upset because of Villanelle necessarily, but more because she feels that she was stupid. The same thing most likely applies to Villanelle as well, she probably feels stupid for loving Eve, and admitting to loving Eve, when she thought that she was someone “special”.

Love your tomarry fics. I also follow your thoughts on Merlin, and I was inspired by your posts to jump on the Hannibal wagon. I liked it, it's weird and beautiful but I am still confused with the characters. Which moment did Will decide to support Hannibal in season 2 is blurry to me, he was playing along nicely I seem to be missing which moment did he honestly like/love Hannibal ! Will seemed to be angry and hating Hannibal is all I got :( Season 3 last scene was the only exception.
Part 2 of the question. I have also huge doubts about several things. Does Hannibal really 'love' Will in any capacity ? If yes then why did he abuse him relentlessly ? Does Will love him - He tries to catch him in s-2 but fails because he becomes disoriented when Abigail shows up. Then tries to kill him and finally gets married, Will seemed to love his wife and child a lot, then suddenly at the end he embraces Hannibal.
Final question - minor doubts. What meat did Will bring to Hannibal ? Because Freddie was later not-dead :D ! How did Hannibal not recognise the meat as not-human ? I think it's a plothole. Once I watched the series I ended up shipping Alana with Will, the two kindred souls.
---------------------------
Hello! Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed my story, and it’s great that you decided to watch this show)) That said, I do think you need to watch it again! It’s a complex one, and many people realize its nuances only after several re-watches.
Will never hated Hannibal. Even in the first half of S2, when he was feeling betrayed and thought Hannibal doesn’t care about him, he couldn’t bring himself to feel hatred. He says as much to Peter in E8, admitting that he envies him his hate because killing Hannibal would have been much easier if he hated him. Hannibal is the only person who understands Will. You mentioned Alana, but she and Will are absolutely incompatible. Will craves normalcy, but he isn’t a normal person, and his feelings for Alana were only ever superficial, considering how he acts toward her and how he doesn’t give a damn about her at all in S3, easily risking her life. Alana was a socially acceptable potential partner, but she didn’t have what Will needed: darkness, the ability to understand it, and willingness to accept it in Will.
When Will is released from prison, he makes a plan to entrap Hannibal, but he’s drawn to him more and more. He’s genuine in most of their discussions, such as the ones about their loneliness, Will’s love for murder, darkness as a concept, etc. Will doesn’t take chances to arrest Hannibal when he can because he enjoys being with him too much. He set him up to be killed by Mason, but when his death became the real possibility, he changed his mind and saved him. Then he covered for him by lying to Jack - they agreed Will would arrest Hannibal when he tried to kill Mason, but Will did and said nothing. Will fully chose Hannibal in S2 finale when he called him. This is how he explains it later:
Will: I wasn’t decided when I called him. I just called him. I decided when I heard his voice. I told him to leave because I wanted him to run. Because he was my friend... and because I wanted to run away with him.
So, Will didn’t become disoriented after seeing Abigail. He already chose Hannibal and he wanted him to leave. He rushed to his house and took out a gun after hearing Jack is inside - he never pointed it at him. He directly tells Hannibal:
Will: You were supposed to leave!
Will chose Hannibal but it was too late, and he got his heart broken just like he broke Hannibal’s. He also dreams about murdering Jack with Hannibal as the version of his perfect world. Will has always been a closeted killer, and Hannibal gives him the freedom to be who he is. Will admits it further in S3:
Will: I’ve never known myself as well as I know myself when I’m with him.
In E2 of S3, Will keeps talking to himself about how much he wants to go to Hannibal still, how he shouldn’t have lied to him, and how they should have left together. He forgives him, he appreciates his gift (a Valentine heart), and he’s trying to find him. This episode is a huge love confession from Will to Hannibal. His attitude begins to change only after he meets Chiyoh and Bedelia, thinking he has been replaced and getting bitter and angry again.
I’m curious, in what scenes did you feel like Will loved Molly and Walter? Because his marriage is deliberately shown as weak. He and Molly share about two nice scenes where they are smiling and laughing, but other than that, there is no closeness. Will doesn’t go fishing with them, even though he loves it and dreamed of doing it with Abigail; he doesn’t return Molly’s “I love you”; he doesn’t initiate physical contact with her, which is a contrast to his behavior toward Hannibal, and he leaves her at the first opportunity. We know he never told her the truth about who he is - she easily jokes about him having the criminal mind, having no idea how dark and dangerous this topic is for Will, who delights in murder and who killed, mutilated, and ate people (bringing and cooking the meat of one of them with Hannibal willingly). He reunites with Hannibal at the first chance and he leaves Molly and Walter after the attack, concentrating on his feelings for Hannibal instead. He plots with Francis, who tried to kill Molly and Walter, and leaks information about the transfer to him, setting loose two dangerous killers at once - killers who targeted his family. It’s not something Will cares about, which proves how cold and self-centered he usually is. Molly and Walter come from nowhere (we have no idea how they met, how their relationship developed, etc.) and they disappear when their use runs out.
Hannibal loves Will with all his heart. He sacrifices his reputation, freedom, and life for him. He didn’t abuse him, although his S1 behavior may indeed be seen as such. From the start, Hannibal’s intention was to help Will Become, accepting his real self. He used his illness in S1 to blur his self-control and make him understand who he is. Starting with S2, when Will’s aware of everything, Hannibal is the one being manipulated. He’s loyal to Will - the only times he hurts him happen after Will hurts him first, like in S2 finale or in E6 of S3. Their relationship is mutually violent. But Hannibal learns from his mistakes sooner. By E7 of S3, he realizes he doesn’t want to live without Will, so he admits Will’s victory over him and gives himself up, hoping that one day, Will is going to choose him, too. He agrees to his TWOTL plan despite knowing it might involve his death, shields Will from the bullet, and allows him to push them down. He stays with him after they survive and they hunt Bedelia together.
Will brought Hannibal’s Randall’s meat, so it’s not a plot hole. We saw him store his butchered parts in his fridge.
If you’re interested, you can see more about the evolution of Will’s feelings for Hannibal and Hannibal’s love for Will here https://k-s-morgan.tumblr.com/post/618023666166464512/wills-vs-hannibals-ways-of-expressing-love.
Hope that clears up things a bit!
