The stella hate she received is too much and this is the twisted thing i see, they compare stella to amber heard an actual real life victim of abuse. Amber heard this woman who speak up about being abused by her husband johnny depp what does she get death threat, harassment, bullied, mockery , etc. Stella this character is so demonized that a lot people don't ever think she's a sentient being with emotion too
If we look at historical context often the female royal member are often seeing baby making machine. Only a few female royal member become leader in the monarchy system often it's male royal member. The systemic sexism if the husband of royal famliy cheat the wife get in trouble and consider failure of her marriage. That means stella she's very disadvantage
1. Stolas cheat she consider to be failure not stolas
2. Stella doesn't play any important role her role is just sit there and looking pretty
3. She is disposable after fullfiling her role now the system consider her useless
4. Her noble rank her parent definitely want their status to be elevated so of course they choose stella
5. Often woman in this system get abused and they put in really high standard
And stolas. I'm sorry people are so desperate painting him as not like the other royalty who's relatable, kind, down to earth, no he's not even closed to that. The writer fail that part i seen character who's royalty actually use their privilege for good
Example : Zuko (avatar the last airbender), Elena(Elena of avalor), sofia(sofia the first), Charlotte le bouff( Princess and the frog), Elle Woods(Legally blonde)
In question did stolas use her privilege for good? All he did use to exploit blitzo and use that for he's own benefit. Vivziepop you know diana spencer can be used as one of your inspiration right? Diana spencer princess of wales this is an example of royal family member use her privilege for good
She break the stigma people who have hiv and aids, she actually interact with other people who have different status from her, she care about people well being, because of that a lot people liked her. After she died people also remember and sadden by her death
How about let's not compare real life cases of abused victims to the abuse fictional characters are suffering from a poorly written demon show?
Exactly, that's what fans are not understanding either. The critical community doesn't pity and empathize with Stella because we see her as this harmless angel but because she is also a victim like Stolas is of Hell's monarchy system. Whether fans want to admit it or not, Stella would absolute take the blame for the marriage failing, not Stolas. Stolas has an important role to do, they wanted a heir to HIS throne, and to quote HezuNeutral from their, Helluva Boss Continues to Circle Spiral video,"If Stella was infertile she'd be screw" because her only purpose in this system is to give birth. It's frustrating that Stella gets reduce to a black and white villain instead of a morally gray one because Viv doesn't want to be nuanced about the affair but even more frustrating, she can't even do her role as a villain right because not only is Stella, terrible inaccurate rep of domestic abusers but also because she is so dumb that she needs her brother to point out when Stolas dies, all of his things would be inherited by Octavia and not her. As if (I'm assuming) one of the actual reasons why she stayed in the marriage was because she like spending his money and what caused them to be so miserable was she and Stolas were arranged to give birth to an heir!
Stolas isn't good either, he still treats imps like shit, using his butler as a stressed toy, talking down to imps, it's just he 'acts" less racist towards I.M.P.

I don't know how many people kept up with this, but if you're on the internet you probably know about it, but there's a new Sam Levinson TV series that has been bothering a lot of people. It's called The Idol, and features Johnny Depp's daughter and The Weeknd, the former being this super popular singer and the latter as the cult leader who brainwashes Lily Rose into doing humiliating sex stuff with him with the excuse that it'll make her better at her job.
Now… the existence of this show bothers me a lot, and I know I'm not the only one, but while I can't attest to what others think regarding fiction, I know that I'm absolutely not one of those people who think that any depiction of sexual assault should be banned, or that kink has no place on TV, or that all sex scenes must advance the plot.
There's just something, in how those shows and movies are set up, that makes it all feel so exploitative and horrible in a way that, in fics, never seems to be.
Like... I'm a huge fan of Miss_Lv, who is definitely a "dead dove" author, and yet there's just something that makes me want to throw up at the idea that Sam Levinson shot a scene in which a bunch of guys (or maybe it was just The Weeknd, idk) come on Lily Rose's face and The Weeknd posts a pic of it on Twitter and makes it go viral with the tag #humancumsock.
I guess it's because it's acted out by real people, and there's a huge difference between "I'm imagining all of these characters doing these things in my head" and "These characters are played by actual people," but the amount of disgust the idea of seeing The Weeknd push an egg in Lily Rose's vagina and tell her that, if she cracks/drops it, he's not going to rape her is almost inexpressible while, if a fandom friend pitched me with this idea, I would simply reply with "That stuff makes no sense, but ok, I guess. Just good luck finding the tag for it."
My other best idea, as to why this whole series disgusts me so much, is that PR made Lily Rose go around interviews saying that she felt so empowered by the series, which is the usual crap that is pasted and copied from woman to woman whenever they act in a series in which their role is that of personality void human flashlight and doesn't really mean anything at all. It's that, and the fact that the series was supposed to be a feminist view on the world of celebritydom and Hollywood, but then the female director was fired in favor of hiring Levinson because The Weeknd threw a tantrum about the show being too focused on the female aspect of the question, rather than putting the spotlight on him.
I don't know, I feel like I'm the only one who's been conflicted about this series (which I have no intention of watching legally nor by pirating it, because it disgusts me to the bone) and wanted to know if someone else thought the same, or if there was no moral/interior conflict upon reading all the articles written by the exploitation of the female cast and how rape is depicted.
--
I hadn't even heard about it. I guess I haven't been watching much TV lately.
I think a lot of sexually transgressive media is made by people who, frankly, don't know how to execute something like that in a safe or self-aware way. You definitely do see examples where the actors say they were cool with it and I believe them, but the ones I can recall have mostly been indie movies or stuff from Europe with very different production dynamics.
I met a lady in L.A. who works as a... man, I can't even remember the term, but she's the person on set who works with the actors before a sex scene to figure out their limits and be a buffer between them and the director. For indie films, the usual procedure is to kick 99% of the crew off the set so the actors only have to deal with each other, the director, and the camera person.
I think live action media about weird sex stuff is harder to do safely and ethically than a written work is, but it can be done. That doesn't mean they did a good job in this case though.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-commentary/timothee-chalamet-kylie-jenner-club-chalamet-stan-culture-controversy-1234820673/amp/
Club Chalamet mentioned in rolling stone magazine.........
She keeps having the day she deserves 🤣
A fan account run by a Gen-Xer, coupled with a reference to a beloved fast-casual Italian eatery chain, was more than enough to make Club Chalamet go viral. The drama has obviously reignited a long-running internet discussion on parasocial relationships, a term used to describe fans investing immense emotional time and energy into a famous or fictional person without the other person even knowing they exist. But what most people have failed to address is the real problem in the room: stan culture’s intimate relationship with misogyny, and how it bleeds into real life.
...
Fandom starts to get messy, however, when misogyny plays into it, especially when it comes to celebrity relationships. Stans are upset with Chalamet for dating Jenner, but their vitriol is aimed firmly at her. They think he’s a serious actor, and Jenner is a vapid Instagram model. “Kylie doesnt have anything to offer Timothee on an intellectual level,” reads a now-deleted tweet from a stan account,” while a Club Chalamet post wrote, “[Kylie] attracts a certain crowd that has very low IQs.” How could these two equally famous 27 and 26-year-olds, respectively, possibly enjoy each other’s company? She must be the problem. Some fans, Club Chalamet included, have even referred to the social media star as “Slurpee,” because they believe that like the drink, she is “artificial” and “unhealthy” for their favorite actor.
...
There’s a real-life consequence to this narrative. Once it becomes acceptable for misogyny to be weaponized against celebrities’ new partners, it’s easier for those views to become mainstream in the court of public opinion. Most infamously, that is exactly what happened last year, when fans of the actor Johnny Depp started attacking his ex Amber Heard during her defamation trial against him, which she described as “humiliating and horrible.” Ironically, fellow Chalamet stans have even been misogynistic toward the woman who runs Club Chalamet, attacking her for her age rather than critiquing her seemingly unhealthy obsession with the actor’s personal life.

💚Any asks and DMs complaining about my beliefs list will be deleted. I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna argue with people my beliefs. It's not worth my time and mental health.
💚Any asks and DMs about the Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp situation will be deleted. I don't support either person as they're both terrible people. Also, the situation has been over for more than a year now, and it's basically beating a dead horse. I was simply trying to make a point that you can be a victim of something and be a shitty person at the same time, as well as that person's shitty actions should not be used as a way to erase their victim status. I was trying to make a point that men can be victims, and women can be abusers. Abuse has no gender.

“Let’s reboot Pirates, rejecting Johnny as Jack Sparrow even though he made the franchise a success”
See here’s the thing.  Before 2003 the only franchise Disney had was one Jim Henson created, and sure it put out a couple successful movies but we really didn’t see much of the Muppets after Jim’s passing.  The 2000s rolled around with movie series like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings so Disney wanted a piece of that....where could they get it?  Curse of the Black Pearl was such a masterpiece, it stayed in the theater well into November and I went several times to get that theater experience.
EVERYONE tried to mimic Jack Sparrow in every way possible, and people still cosplay as him.  I have so much pirate merch, and I’m not sorry I bought it.  I have a pirate flag, not those cheap dollar store lengths, the full length and it hangs in my room.  The ride in Disneyland was changed to look more like the movie, and Johnny would appear every so often.  The hours I spent writing and reading fan fiction for this movie series.  Pirates of the Caribbean is based off a ride in the parks, and it was beyond successful because everyone loved that crazy captain Jack Sparrow.  That character made the movie, cast and crew have said so, and Johnny Depp’s talent helped bring this eccentric pirate captain to life.  Now Disney wants me to accept this replacement simply because they say so?
I disincline to acquiesce to your request.  Means no.

I. how long have you been roleplaying?
I do not even know how or where to begin answering this because I do believe I was a freshman in high school when I was first introduced to D&D {Dragonlance was the world/setting} and I took to it like a fish to water. A long time after that, I was introduced to the early days of the internet and the concept of real-time chats {mIRC}. I met my future husband in one, and the two of us then found an rp chat. Within a few weeks, we'd been asked to co-run a portion of that rp. About six months later, we were living together, and running that game, a couple in real life, and others. Fast forward a million years and a million iterations of online rp and here we are. {{AOL, MSN communities/chat, Eyechat, InvisionFree and other message boards, private email/etc, and now- Tumblr and Discord. I've pretty much been there, done that with almost every place. Except Twitter, and Facebook.}} II. what got you interested in roleplaying?
I have been a lifelong reader. I was diagnosed as a "gifted" child in the days of yore, mostly because I was reading by the age of four, and I think at some point, I wanted to make stories too. My very first fan-fiction began at the age of 8. Tabletop RP is still my first rp love, though online rp has become a close second. If RP didn't exist, I would still be around somewhere, writing stories and living inside of my own imagination. III. are there any lesser played canon characters you’d like to see in your community?
I have a complicated relationship with canon characters. Two of my oldest friends and I are often dismayed. Back in OUR day, canons were rare and treated with a certain suspicion and disdain. And unfortunately, a lot of people seem to be trapped in a mindset that Canon are the be-all, end-all and don't give OCs a fair shake because they had 'one bad experience, once, a hundred years ago'. Or the whole 'I don't know how to interact with you' even if the OC is built for your fandom, and yet your top three partners are other canons from fandoms that have nothing to do with yours. <eye roll>. I think I find something very disingenuous about that when I see a lot of 'canons' that seem to have only a vague idea about their muse, choose only the flavour of the month fc for them, and just generally come across as ooc/lazy/sloppy. But I am a fandom dinosaur, with a background in creative writing, novel-writing, and 20+ years of rp experience. My standards are so incredibly high. That being said... Justified, Dark Shadows {not the Johnny Depp monstrosity} anyone/thing from the World of Darkness, Dragonlance, Foggy Nelson, Firefly, Vertigo/Indie comics, Valiant Comics....Horatio Hornblower, Sharpe's Rifles, and any historical genre, really. IV. would you consider writing them?
For the right reasons, the right partner, yes. But most of the time I prefer telling new stories in a beloved world/au. V. what do you enjoy the most about creating ocs? I bet you'd NEVER guess that I am really neurotic/overly serious when it comes to making a character. I will sit there for literally months, contemplating their every minute of life before and up to the moment I am ready to debut them. I will know 12 generations of their family. I will know a couple dozen fandoms they might fit in and how they would relate to things. The only aspect I don't really control or try to map out is what canon and other oc muses they might get on with. That's part of the fun of actual rp, forging connections.
Maybe the trouble is...I want to give everyone my absolute best. I want to offer a rewarding experience to people, and thus the standards I carry for myself are excruciatingly severe. But I *can* be silly and fun, once the story begins.

fan CULTure: Essays on Participatory Fandom in the 21st Century: Explained
From my library scavenger hunt challenge in Kutztown University that I have detailed in my most recent post, I have found a very promising book to gather research from for my topic: fan CULTure: Essays on Participatory Fandom in the 21st Century. After I found this book, I was very excited to read it, not just for the purposes of doing research on it for this blog, but because I was genuinely interested in learning more about fan culture and fan communities, a subject I am heavily involved in personally. I absolutely devoured this book over my school's spring break and it gave me a newfound love for fans and fandoms everywhere and it taught me so much more about the fan community, a community I am so proud to be a part of.
fan CULTure: Essays on Participatory Fandom in the 21st Century is an anthology, meaning it is a collection of essays written by several different authors. The editors are Kristin M. Barton and Jonathan Malcolm Lampley, it was published in 2014 by McFarland & Company, Inc. The book is divided into three sections, each with different focus points. Section 1 is about fan productions, section 2 is on social media, and section 3 discusses fan-influenced content. This book delves into the different facets of the world of fandoms and what it means to be a fan. It has a little bit of everything relating to the topic of "fan" which is why I was so excited to have found this treasure of a book.
My favorite essay from this book is "Can't Stop the Sequel- How Serenity Inspired Browncoats: Redemption Is Changing the Future of Fan Films" by Kristin M. Barton. I thought that this was a particularly insightful text, it analyzed how the production of fan films can keep TV shows alive as it demonstrates demand from an audience. This means that fans no longer just consume media, but they are active participants with real agency in the entertainment sphere. It shows the power of fans coming together and building communities, how there are strength in numbers and a fellowship between one fan to another. This essay demonstrated that fans are a driving force within popular culture today and really establishes what a fan's place in the world could be in a broader context, how a fan is not just one person but part of larger whole.
Overall, the book explains how fans take the course of media into their own hands and shape how entertainment is made in popular culture by not being passive consumers. Instead, they are active consumers that show what kind of content they want to see through fan works such as fan films and fan fictions, in turn this prompts the studios and creators to cater to them because of their purchasing power and where fans choose to spend their money. I have also learned how fans of the past have paved the way for fans of today. There has been an evolution of fandoms throughout time which was demonstrated with how the Dark Shadows fandom continued growing from a soap opera show in the late 1960s to a major motion picture starring Johnny Depp in 2012. It was even discussed how Star Wars could technically be a fan film because George Lucas's space opera was inspired by Flash Gordon and the movies of Akira Kurosawa. It was a highly informative read about the complex structures of fan communities, the book even analyzed what "anti-fan fiction" is, which is the writings of individuals that actively dislike the books or films so much that they seek to degrade the characters of a franchise in various and sundry ways. There are so many intricacies of fandom culture that I had never known before reading this book; this is the perfect book for people who want to immerse themselves in an in-depth analysis of popular culture.
The purpose of this book is to inform the reader about the social complexities about fan communities in popular culture, and while I believe the target audience is mostly other academic researchers, I think this book can be enjoyed by anyone wanting get a deep dive on the nature of fans and other niche subcultures in mass media. It is a contribution to this field of social research as it presents a substantial amount of information on various topics within the discipline. The way the book is organized into sections of different groups of essays focusing on a specific concept allows the reader to understand the different topics that make up what fan culture is.
From a very early age, fan communities have been so often dismissed as "nerds" or "geeks" but this book attests that fans are just what makes this world go round.

#Oscar #award
"Johnny Depp, one of Hollywood’s most talented and beloved actors of all time. It still comes as a surprise to many fans that he actually still hasn’t received an Academy Award. Here's why Johnny Depp deserves to finally win an Oscar.
If the Oscar is given to the best-performing actor of a certain year, Depp should have several statuettes by now. Depp is a multi-talented star, adding talented musician and an incredible painter to his already impressive acting resume. A prodigal son whose talents were discovered and put to use, the great Nicolas Cage was the one to encourage Depp to take on acting. One of his first successes in the industry was his role in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, an American coming-of-age drama film directed by Lasse Hallström, following a young Gilbert who lives with his obese, depressed mother and his siblings. Depp’s talent is completely tangible through his performance in this movie, where he tries to balance his youthful dreams and hopes with his responsibility towards his mother and his mentally disabled brother.
However, it was not until his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl that he was finally nominated for the first time for the Academy Award. The Disney fantasy was an immediate box office success, reaching $654.3 million following its 2003 release. The story follows pirate Jack Sparrow (Depp) and blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) as they attempt to save Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who was kidnaped by the cursed crew. This particular performance established the genius of Depp and drew the picture of his talent very clearly in the minds of viewers and cinema fans. He acted the role with everything he had: his voice, his facial expressions, his funny body gestures, and his emotions. Although the movie falls under the genres of fantasy and adventure, the viewers’ attachment to the character of Jack Sparrow reminded us of the kind of influence that characters in drama movies have. His talent alone was able to hook millions of fans without having to resort to dramatic effects, and complex dialogue.
Usually, when someone rises above the competition, it means that they are confident in their talent and what they bring to the table. Depp has always been different, not only in his clothing style but in his views and beliefs. In 2005, he told Vanity Fair that he doesn’t “want to win one of those things, ever” in reference to an Oscar, because it would mean that he was in competition with someone. Competition can be a great motivation for some, but others, only need to be in competition with themselves in order to move forward. Depp thinks competition is a negative form of motivation and refuses to enter the race. His high-self esteem does not allow him to measure his success by how heavy his trophy case is."
Tumblr media
"One of the best is his titular role in Edward Scissorhands, which was a success both for the critics and financially. He played the role of a soft, and timid creation of a scientist, and his journey towards finding real connection and love. Although the character doesn’t get to say many lines, Depp is wonderfully successful in communicating his feelings, aspirations, and deepest needs for acceptance. This performance is just another reason why there should be a golden statuette in Depp’s hand by now.
He played The Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland with equal ease; with that amount of makeup on their face, only a handful of actors could pull off a fictional tea party quite as Depp did. He has also performed incredibly well in movies like Donnie Brasco, Finding Neverland, Ed Wood, and Black Mass.
Depp's fans might be outraged by this apparent lack of recognition, however, one must always hope that his Oscar is only being saved up for his next performance."

I could have left happy after hearing them live but I stuck around.
The Fictional Lead Guitar Character in spinal tap was created using Jeff Beck as the inspiration
His amps do go to 11.
Jeff was portrayed in press from the old days as temperamental too.
Tonight's Show?
No issues.
Smiles
Guitar heroics and Cool Vibes.
Opening the festivities?
Straight from New Mexico / Max Gomez.
Singer Songwriter throwback and he would have been touring with Trini Lopez for the folkie crowds if he was born in that Folk music heyday.
His music was good but at times hit like a folk act at Woodstock
Like The Time slot between Sha Na Na and Jimi Hendrix
Don't get me wrong.
he had charisma and skills.
Riffed on Being from New Mexico
even wrote a song about it.
led a sing along too.
Had the Civic singing on cue and that was unique.
Has potential.
Jeff Beck was the reason I was there.
He's a certified Guitar Genius.
His set included Starcycle and Freeway Jam
Price of admission basically hearing those jams.
Rumble
The Rock Anthem was the first song introducing Mr. Depp to his adoring fans.
It's an instrumental.
Next up were cuts from their latest project.
it sounds gothic very outsider and maybe throw in a spaghetti western .
His guitar work was non existent and why would it be any other way.
He was going up against a living Guitar titan.
what can you do ?
Sing ,strut around maybe play a few chords .
It was fun. The music was interesting.
Check out my Pics.

Well yeah, that's always been the case.  People are always looking for permission hate on a rando person, character, or group of people.  Social media just make it more obvious and easier to join the mob. Before social media, fans used to rent billboard to advertise their hatred at a fictional character or real person. Homicide: Life of the Street fans took an instant contempt towards a new character Detective Paul Falsone and rented "I hate Falson" billboards.  During the Beverly Hills 90210 run in the ‘90s, fangirls ran “I hate Brenda” newsletter that became a movement.  There would be gatherings that included inflatables meant to look like Shannen Doherty that people could hit with a bats and batons.  I guarantee you none of these people hate-hate the characters/actors, they just want an excuse to be part of a group that allows them to act out in approved not-nice manners.
Remember kids, it is the fans that “love” their idols that have been known to physically hurt or even kill celebrities:
Singer Selena Quintanilla was killed by a fan
Actress Rebecca Schaeffer was killed by a fan
Actress Theresa Saldana was stabbed 10 times by a fan
Rapper Plies was assaulted and thrown off the stage by a fan

(Spoiler for Teen Wolf Season 3b)
I don’t know why I am just remembering this because it wasn’t that long ago, but for one of my uni classes I did last semester, I wrote a fanfic for a class. A fanfic about Void Stiles. For a little bit context about why I was allowed to write a fanfic for an assessment.
The second assessment for the class was that everyone in the class had to do two character portraits, one based on an interview that we, as the student, had to conduct (I interviewed a friend of mine I went to secondary school with) and for the other portrait, we had different options to choose from. Our options were a historical figure, a celebrity, a fictional character or we could be sus and observe someone wherever we were at. There might have been more options but I can’t remember them.
At first, I didn’t know that we could do celebrities (I would’ve done Corpse Husband or Johnny Depp) and I didn’t realise until we had read a student exemplar (an example done by a past student). This exemplar was of Freddie Mercury. At that time I already decided to do Void Stiles for the second portrait (I focused more specifically on the last episode of season 3b).
Anyway, the third assessment was that we had to write either a personal essay, feature article OR a short story about one of the portraits that we had done. I decided to do a short story about Void Stiles because my friend has a condition (that I am not going to specify) that I feel like I won’t be able to portray correctly.
So in that short story (fanfic), I decided to do my usual “what if” process and my brain had this idea of “what if Scott and Kira didn’t kill Void Stiles, but instead Void Stiles was pretending to be Stiles while the real Stiles was stuck in a locker? And Void Stiles kills reals Stiles in order to continue his plan of being Stiles and continuing chaos, pain and strife?”
And lets just say when it came to workshopping our works, the other two Teen Wolf fans in the class both were shocked and jokingly hate me for it (they don’t actually hate me don’t worry XD).
They were more or less shocked that one, I had killed off Stiles and two, the last line I put in it was very much assholey. The line being “Goodbye Stiles. Say hello to your mother for me.” If you have watched the show, you know why that would be relevant. I more or less put it in because it is the most asshole thing Void Stiles could say (and Void Stiles is an asshole in the show).
Yeah, I just wanted to say that.

a review of Tomorrow's Just Another Day CHAPTER 6, reprinted with permission
@quizboy-stardust says:
→  This chapter is more like What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. The only thing I remember about What’s Eating Gilbert Grape is when Gilbert forgets to take his developmentally-disabled brother (Leonardo DiCaprio) out of the bathtub and he doesn't know to get out on his own and he gets sick. I didn't even remember Johnny Depp was in this; I thought it was River Phoenix.

→  Also, now I really wanna see Forbidden Zone. You should. It's awful.
I spent weeks thinking through what would be the most uncomfortable movie to sit through while mostly naked with someone you liked but also something a cult film nerd would realistically have a copy in the mid-'90s.
→  Alison acts kinda mean but these were the '90s so… valid, I guess? I don't think she's mean, but I'm mean. I don't mind if she comes off as mean, as long as she doesn't come off as ANNOYING. If it helps, imagine her as really hot. (People like a mean girl if she's attractive.)
→ The romance was awkward but nice. I love how you write it more human-like because in most movies sex and erotica seems so unreal. Boy Genius is an attempt to write what could have been an episode of the show (or many episodes of the show... it's fucking long) but this story is really a reaction to "erotic fan fiction" in general.
I prefer funny and uncomfortable and sad to "sexy," but that's just me.
→ Billy has body hair and that’s also kinda unique.
It's the quickest way to visually tell he's not an actual child, really, but also it's canon.
Also gross... therefore funny?
JP/DH often bitched on the VB commentaries they didn't have the budget to get skilled enough animators to do body hair on their 90% male, often undressed cast of characters (because gross= funny) but when Billy's in his Quizboy outfit with the purple hot pants, there's always little pen marks of hair on his thighs. (gross)
There's a throwaway line in The Forecast Manufacturer :
Dr. Venture: Do you shave your chest? Billy Quizboy: No, that's stupid. I wax.
→ White, we don’t see him too much in a chapter but it’s a red flag when an unmotivated person gets fixated on a thing. Great that he ate some food, I’m worried about his anorexia. Overall, it’s not my favorite chapter because I like 5th one the most I think. But it’s a solid 9/10.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⚫
Thanks. I try.

I’ve forgotten what a strange experience writing fan fiction can be. Something about video game characters made it easier, and that’s what I’ve written for years. Maybe it’s the interactions you get with Bioware characters and the immersion where “I” can be closer to the action and people. It felt easier to slide into the actual thoughts of the majority of them. Going back to writing for a television series (and an old one) is almost jarring. It’s not unknown to me. I wrote a bunch of original Dark Shadows fiction back in the day. Not to be confused with the Johnny Depp movie from this decade. The original series ran in the late 1960′s and early 70′s. The era wasn’t the only thing which made them as different as apples and the Empire State Building. I wrote point of view from a lot of those characters back when I was into the reruns of the series. I wasn’t born when it originally aired so the atmosphere presented certain challenges as well. Society and the people’s viewpoints alter radically as time passes. We age, yes, but we also grow and our ideas alter as the world around us changes. The 60′s are alien to me because I wasn’t actually there. Then there’s the characters. Writing an OC in another fictional world isn’t as difficult. You’re dealing with the point of view of someone you, the author, created. The OC is a blank slate to think, feel and react in any way you see fit. You have to get the dialog and actions of canon characters to stay believable and in character unless you’re deliberately breaking the mold for fun. That can be a good time, too, but I’m trying to stay mostly true to the original content. So I’m trying to step into the shoes of a character who multiple people wrote in a series and an actor brought to life. What’s going on in his head? How does he see the world? I don’t actually know these things the way I do with my OCs. I have to rebuild him from what I’ve seen on screen - how he reacts, the things he says, and every scrap of information I have to work with. It doesn’t help that his personality and mine are mostly as different as night and day. Which isn’t totally uncommon. I’ve written a lot of characters over the years from the truly, deeply, horrifyingly evil, the character with a utter lack of civility and conscious, the wish fulfillment OC who is brave, outgoing and beautiful, inhuman creatures who don’t think like human beings at all... The list goes on. It’s part of what passes for normal for writers. But this is a challenge. I’ve forgotten how interesting it is to try and put on the shoes of a pre-existing character from a television series. A good challenge, however. A fun one.
