Alex’s love language is acts of service for sure. He always does little things for Jo like giving her a trash can in her car for her little tissues, rubbing her feet while they watch a movie, or making her favorite mac and cheese for her after she says she's had a rough day. Jo begins to anticipate certain things he does like, how he makes her coffee every morning, hands her little bags of chips while they walk down to get lunch in the cafeteria, and he puts her towel in the dryer so it’s warm for her when she gets out of the shower.

One day she texts him saying that she lost twins after a c-section and all she wants to do is cry and go to bed. Alex thinks that she should at least eat something so he makes her a box of mac and cheese and adds some extra cheddar to it. Then he warms up her favorite blanket in the dryer, gets out her favorite pajamas, and makes her a cup of tea.

When Jo gets home, she's already got tears streaming down her face. Alex takes her bag and her coat and hangs both of them up as Jo goes to the bathroom. She sees that he's left out all her skin care products laid out in order and her pajamas are sitting there next to them. When she comes back out he presents her with her warm blanket. She just falls apart and cries as he wraps her up and holds her. Alex picks her up and carries her to bed as she cries in his arms. He holds her and rubs her back as she cries.

Once the tears have dried up, he presents her with the mac and cheese and she eats a whole bowl of it and sips on the tea as well before she crawls into his arms and falls asleep. The next morning, Jo wakes up in his arms as he presents her with her coffee and tells her she has the day off. Jo just looks at him and thanks him for everything before kissing him.

Fanfic recs needed

heyyy everyone or anyone i am in dire need of fanfic recs or anyone that’s willing to write any fics about Alex Karev. I’m looking for hurt fics whether it’s him struggling and hiding his ptsd from the shooting or from his childhood, whether it’s mental or physical health problems. I can't stop thinking about the parallels between Jo Wilson and Olivia Benson, both whom I grown attached to in a long running profession show.

- a child of assault

- abusive childhood

- unwanted by their mothers

- learned to be dependent to themselves at a young age

- victims of men who thought will help them get of the rough life they had

- went through extreme traumatic experiences in life

- extreme abandonment issues

- then abandoned by their long time partner/the person they loved so much without a proper goodbye

- adopted a kid and now are good mothers

gosh now Grey's Anatomy is entering a new age and SVU is nearing its final arc, writers better have absolute happy endings for these two, wonderful ladies.

AN: So I finished this months ago and was like ‘oh I'll save it for Halloween’ and I got so into the Jolex Halloween fic that I forgot to post this! Anyway better late than never I hope you all enjoy because I've always said that this is how this scene should have been!

Jo looked through Alex’s books on the shelf behind his desk. She hadn’t gotten the chance to see her husband’s new office yet. It was very much like the one at Grey-Slone, but smaller and dirtier. He had a few wrestling magazines, some good management books, and Ped’s medical journals. She ran her fingers along the spines as she read the titles.

“Let's get out of here,” Alex said, coming into the room and letting the folder drop onto his desk. “Today was a nightmare.”

“Hey,” Jo said, reaching up and holding his face as he looked at her. “You are amazing. You are turning a house of horrors into a legit hospital, and I am sorry if those investors can't see that.”

“Well, don't be,” Alex said, raising his eyebrows and giving her a slight smile. “I'm getting a new research facility.”

“They gave you the funding?”

“Yeah, they said they were impressed with my ability to handle chaos.”

“They don't even know the half of it,” Jo said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “They should visit your childhood.”

“Hey, you know what?” Ale said, as he pulled back from another kiss.

“Yeah?”

“We should do something to celebrate,” Alex said, not telling her his plans just yet.

“Great. I am absolutely dressed for that,” Jo said, holding out the skirt of her dress before she looked up at him, seeing that familiar glint of trouble in his eyes. “What?”

“What time does the courthouse close?” Alex said with a smile as Jo tilted her head.

He held out his hand and Jo let him pull her away.

They were standing in the courthouse together. Jo can hardly believe that they were doing this, but she was so giddy. She still loved standing there in her white dress, holding his hands and loving every word he said to her. She was so wrapped up in this moment. It was the perfect wedding and she couldn't even believe the courthouse was open this late much less on Halloween. Although she was possibly elated more so about the fact that she got Alex to actually wear the vampire teeth. She knew he did it only for her.

It's not their wedding on the ferry boat at sunset. She didn't have the perfect white dress and they didn't have their friends and family, but it was an intimate moment that they would have forever.

Finally, it was her turn to say her vows. They had the traditional vows as she repeated after the judge. She's been trying to think of the right thing to say to make her vows a little unique for him. The second the idea popped up in her head, she knew she had to do it. It would also surprise him and possibly scare him a little bit, but hopefully in a good way.

“For better or worse.”

“For better or worse.” Jo repeated after him.

“For richer or poorer.”

“For richer… or pregnant,” Jo said in a single breath as she watched Alex take in her words.

For a second he just stood there, gobsmacked. His eyes were wide and his lips parted. She wasn’t sure if he actually heard her. Although, judging by the look on his face he did.

“What?” Alex asked, his voice muffled by the vampire teeth.

“I'm pregnant,” Jo said, confirming it to him with a nervous little smile.

“Are you serious,” Alex asked, still surprised and Jo suddenly got nervous about telling him like this.

“Yes,” Jo said, biting her lip as she nodded. “Why do you think I dressed up and have been following you around at work all day? I’ve been trying to tell you all day, but it’s been one catastrophe after another at the hospital. I didn't want to stress you out at work so I just figured I'd wait to tell you at home, but then you wanted to get legally married….”

Before Jo could say anything more, Alex cut her off with a kiss. He pressed his lips into hers and she could feel the excitement on his lips. He smiled against her lips and she pulled back to see him with a broad smile.

“You’re really pregnant?” Alex asked, sure of himself, but more so asking her to say it again.

“Yes, I’m pregnant,” Jo said with a matching smile that started to hurt her cheeks.

He looked down at her stomach and let go of one of her hands to reach down to hold her belly, rubbing his thumb in a little circle. There's nothing there quite yet, just the tiniest curve of her belly where her uterus was a little more prominent. She wasn’t sure if he could even feel it yet.

“We're gonna have a baby,” Alex said, his voice giddy with his large smile.

“Yeah we're going to have a baby,” Jo said sighing in contentment as he leaned in and kissed her again.

The officiant let them have their moment, but after their second kiss, he cleared his throat. They reluctantly parted, but Alex still smiled wide and happy and he kept his hand on her belly. Jo felt like she was floating on air. She was so happy at this moment and she can barely contain it.

Jo looked over at him and smiled as she repeated her vows. “For richer or poor. “

Alex leaned in and she did too as their noses touch and they smile at each other. He gave her a little smile and held her belly through the rest of the preceding until they were finally officially and legally married. Alex leaned in and kissed her with lips full of passion. Jo melted into him with a little moan. As she let herself be consumed by his lips. She wrapped her arms around him and put one hand on his cheek, holding him against her for as long as possible. They only break apart when they're desperate for air.

After they got out of the court, having filed all the correct documents and making sure everything was in order, Alex kissed her again as he led her out to the car, holding her hand. He pulled her against him as he kissed her against the car. He fumbled with the door handle until they fell into the backseat. Jo sat up with a laugh as he undid the ties on her dress and forced it open.

Instead of his hands going to more intimate places, he smiled as he leaned down and stared at her belly. Jo easily smiled as she put her hand on his cheek, his eyes glance up at her before he looked back down at their baby. He put one hand over her bump, gently gracing her skin before he held the little bump.

“Hey you,” Alex said as he leaned down and kissed her bump. “I'm your Daddy, it's nice to meet you.”

Jo reached up to tangle her hand in his hair as he leaned down to kiss her bump. “You're finally gonna be a dad.”

“And you're gonna be a mom,” Alex said with a smile as he came up and kissed her lips. “And don't worry because you're going to be an amazing mom, Jo.”

Jo smiled and sighed, she knew he was right and she was finally ready. She was going to be a mom and he was going to be a dad and they were going to have the family they always wanted.

After all my rants about Alex’s horrible departure I just want to make clear that what I’m most angry about is the complete destruction of Alex’s character. I already see this becoming a rant. Hopefully my last on this subject.

My last couple too long posts ranting about this focus a lot on Jo and Izzie. But at the end of the day it’s not that Alex and Jo aren’t together or that Alex and Izzie are. I like Jo and Alex together, but I could take it or leave it. They’ve had seasons where I was over them. I did always hate Izzie and Alex together I’ll admit that.

But the real issue isn’t about any ship it’s about Alex. And the focus goes to Jo because that’s the relationship that shows most how all his character development was destroyed. Alex is a good man and he loves Jo and he knows her past. Jo was abandoned when she was a week old and that gave her some trauma. Then add in Alex’s own trauma of being abandoned by his deadbeat alcoholic father. Being walked out on and abandoned by Izzie during their garbage marriage. And we you consider these things and the fact that Alex is a good person who cares about people and is honorable and has worked for years to not be a loser like his father, the idea that not only he would abandon Jo but that he would do it without saying a word. He would do it by lying and not calling. That he would leave Jo like Izzie left him, knowing how painful that is. That he would be too cowardly to come home and tell Jo to her face that he was leaving her. Goes against everything Alex has become over the last 16 seasons. Not limited to his relationship with Jo but with anyone.

I feel the same way about how he left Meredith. It was less an outright betrayal but it was still awful. Walking out on your best friend in the world without even saying goodbye? Alex was her person and she was his. He took that very seriously, they were family. To just drop her like he did is absurd. Alex would kill for Mer, do the writers expect me to believe he’d kill for he’d die for her but he can’t be bothered to say a proper goodbye. Let’s pretend that nonsense they wrote about him not saying goodbye bc he knew Mer could talk him out of moving to be with his kids, like she would ever do that. Alex left without saying goodbye to the kids. How can any of us ever believe Alex would leave without saying goodbye to Zola, Bailey, and Ellis. He loved those kids like they were his own. He took care of them like they were his own. Alex who loves kids and understands them more than anyone in the show is just going to abandon his first family without a word? I don’t think so. Obviously, he has to go and raise his kids but I don’t believe for a second Alex wouldn’t Sit down with Mer’s kids first and tell them how much he loves them and always will and how much he’s going to miss them and how they have cousins to visit.

So anyway long rant I didn’t plan over. I will never be okay with Alex’s exit.

Amber Karev Character Sheet

Personality

MBTI: ESTJ-T

Description: Amber Karev is fiercely independent with a guarded heart and a tough life. Her rough attitude is a result of growing up in and out of the foster system as well as having two older brothers who taught her how to take care of herself. Like Alex she speaks fluent sarcasm and always has an insult ready, but only conveys it when she has to making her more pleasant than her brother was in his intern year. This reserved and fiery front is her defense mechanism she portrays to keep people at a distance. Her true self beneath that is a caring, considerate and funny woman that only her nearest and dearest know is there.

Appearance

While Alex takes after their father, Amber takes after their mother with her long blonde waves and blue eyes. Her classmates and bosses immediately assume she’s a dumb blonde because she looks like one, but she proves them wrong. Her attire is mostly light blue scrubs due to how she spends three quarters of her time at the hospital. Her casual wear is plain dark t shirts or rock band tees with skinny jeans and boots, converse or vans. On special occasions she wears a colorful pantsuit with a pretty blouse, but she also wears black dresses with strappy heels. At work her hair is always up in a ponytail or bun, and she wears her makeup in a clean simple style.

Education

She has just as much brains as she has brawns due to how she skipped 4th and 9th grade and attended a private high school where she was salutatorian and outside hitter for the girls’ volleyball team. She got straight A’s in all of her classes but it was biology she thrived in marking her first step towards medicine. After high school she had the choice to attend Amherst University as well as Cornell but decided to attend Iowa State University due to the low tuition and financial aid. It wasn’t until her sophomore year she decided to pursue a career in medicine due to how easy it is for her to understand the human anatomy and the thrill she gets when she watches a surgery. Her immediate understanding and excellent studying habits has allowed her to finish undergrad in three years and attend New York University for medical school. Her decision to attend NYU is mostly because of the scholarship she was able to get but also partly to get away from her family and the trauma they caused her. Despite her financial gain she barely made ends meet to pay for the housing, food and books in medical school, so she took a controversial route to pay her bills. Amber spent her nights in her studio dorm webcamming to strangers on an adult entertainment site. She used a fake name and wigs to hide her true identity. It was in match day that she found out she got into the general surgery programs in Mount Sinai, UCLA, St. Luke’s and Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. She decided to work at Grey Sloan due to most of her role models working there in spite of her estranged brother working there too.

Relationships

Romantic

Amber is proudly pansexual and has had an extensive love life prior to moving to Seattle. However, these relationships were short lived with the longest lasting a month due to her guarded heart.

Maya Bishop

After a bad day at work where everyone found out about Aaron almost killing her, Amber heads to Joe’s where she meets Maya Bishop and they hit it off that night. The next day she meets Maya again when she comes in after a call and they then go out on a date. They casually date for a month until Amber asks her to be her date to Alex and Jo’s wedding. They mutually breakup as Maya tells Amber she’s not ready for commitment yet.

Andrew DeLuca

At the beginning of her intern year Amber finds herself attracted to Andrew, with encouragement from Carina, she asks him out unaware of what Alex did to him causing him to rush off not giving her an answer. Later she finds him yelling at Carina stating that Amber is the last person he would date breaking her spirit. She is cold to him after this and insults him when given the chance. However, he helps her treat a teenage girl at a homeless community after Amber helps her run away from social services, so she won’t go back to her abusive mom and her boyfriend. They become amicable after that, and Andrew starts to see the kindness beneath the cold image she presents. At Alex and Jo’s wedding Andrew drunkenly kissed Amber causing her to slap him but tells him she was flattered. She then has dreams in which they are married causing her to become flustered around him at work unbeknownst to him. However, he finds out from a drunk Levi causing him to be shocked. He begins to develop feelings for her after helping her and they have their first kiss. Andrew asks Amber out on a date starting their relationship officially.

Atticus Lincoln

Amber meets Link on his first day where he casually flirts with her causing her to be flattered. He asks her out on a date when helping her scour for new apartments. She rejects him however when she discovers Jo is his best friend and Link also agrees given his friendship with Jo.

Familial

Alex Karev

Due to their parents neglect and abuse, Alex had to take on the role of a parent for Aaron and Amber. Alex helped her with her homework and did her dutch braid that he learned especially for her. Amber naturally looked up to him as a role model and saw him as a surrogate father growing up. He then left for college when she was 10 causing her great anguish for leaving her with their mother. Her resentment grew as he left her again when she was 16 after Aaron attacked her due to a psychotic break. Eight years later Alex discovered Amber in the lobby getting ready for an interview where she greets him coldly. Amber makes it clear to Alex on her first day that she came to Seattle for the program and not her brother who abandoned her. Their relationship continues this way for a while until Alex sincerely apologizes for leaving her behind and not being there when she needed him causing her to cry and her resentment to lessen. They begin to mend fences after that to the point Alex asks Amber to move in with him after discovering she lives in a hotel. They bicker and argue like regular siblings but are quick to defend each other when they see danger lurking in the corner.

Jo Wilson

They met the day of Amber’s interview and became coworkers shortly after that. After Amber helps Jo confront her abusive ex-husband and protected her when he tried to attack, they become close friends and confidants. Amber is ecstatic that Jo is gonna marry Alex and become her sister-in-law and is touched when she asks her to be her maid of honor. Amber see’s Jo as the sister she always wanted and the same applies for Jo who tries to look out for Amber like any other big sister. Jo helps give Amber life and love advice when she needs it, and Amber helps Jo with whatever she needs. After the wedding they openly call each other sisters.

Aaron Karev

After Alex left Aaron took on the role of parent for Amber who at the time was sad but grateful to at least have Aaron. He supported their family by becoming a mover and went to every volleyball game and debate when their mother never attended. However, Aaron had a psychotic break due to inheriting their mother’s schizophrenia causing him to attack Amber one night and land her in the hospital with a stab wound. Amber was scared of her brother by then causing them to drift apart and stop speaking all together when Amber left for college.

Helen Karev

Her relationship with her mother is delicate at best due to her resentment and blaming Helen for her trauma. They started to mend fences when Helen finally got better to the point where Amber finally forgives her when she visited Seattle.

Friendships

Levi Schmitt

Amber kept her distance from the other interns who responded the same as well. Vikram Roy found out about her past with Aaron and told the others who made fun of her behind her back and stared at her like she was a freak. However, Levi Schmitt felt sympathy for her and offered her his lunch when she ran from the cafeteria after being stared at. After that they bonded fast to the point where Amber goes with him as his date to a Bar Mitzvah. While Amber mocks him playfully she appreciates him and his sincerity. Levi is the only person outside her family who sees behind her apathetic act and brings out the good friend in her. Their friendship grows stronger after the wedding when Amber confesses her feelings for DeLuca to him and helps him with his crush on Nico Kim. They are consistently there for each other and help when one of them has a crisis. After a year Amber considers Levi her person and vice versa.

Jackson Avery

Jackson felt sympathetic towards her due to being one of the few people Alex told about her attack and made sure she wouldn't be punished for her past after it was exposed. After that she became his wingman, and they became good friends. They help each other with their relationship problems and often work together on cases. He feels the need to protect her like she's his little sister and she returns the favor seeing him as a surrogate older brother. There are times their significant others call into question about their relationship convinced it's more than platonic but Jackson and Amber are quick to deny it and state they don't see each other in that way. There was a time they were living together in his condo after Andrew kicked her out of their apartment. He helped her after DeLuca broke up with her and she helped him get back together with April after her second divorce.
