For years, Jewish people have said that Roger Waters is an antisemite, but our voices weren't heard. Now there's this really well-made, free short film that looks into these allegations by speaking to two Jewish former colleagues of Waters.
Please watch this.
It matters not just because of Roger Waters.
It matters that Jewish voices be listened to when we raise the alarm on antisemitism, that they don't silence us. This film highlights how an antisemite like Waters gets away with it, can override it when he's being called out on his Jew hatred by accusing Jews of being manipulative when we do that. By watching this you can better understand how to listen to Jewish people, believe us when we raise our voices again antisemitism, and be a better ally to us.
Please watch this. We need you. There's too few of us, we can't do this alone, we need people to hear and support us.

Goyim, if you want to make the lives of Jews just a little bit easier, mass report any antisemites you come across or hear about on whatever social media sites you’re on until their blogs and accounts are taken down. There are Jewish children and traumatized Jews being exposed to disgusting and violent antisemitism and having their spaces invaded by antisemites. Antisemitic conspiracy theories and tropes are being spread like wildfire. The least you can do to prove you’re a Jewish ally is to slow that spread down slightly by deplatforming these assholes. It’s literally one of the easiest things you could do; you don’t even have to leave your couch.

What has been seen cannot be unseen, aka: I follow several Jewish people on Tumblr and after hearing them talk about the antisemitism in the Harry Potter books, movies, and games it's really disheartening to see how hard a lot of (mostly white) queer people are pressing the "don't play the game because it's transphobic!" angle and not enough at all of "HEY there is SO MUCH blatant antisemetism in this game, what the actual fuck?" I've seen Jewish people, queer and not queer alike, lamenting that it feels like only other Jews care.
I'm trans. I understand the outrage. Who wouldn't be fucking pissed as hell knowing that the cartoon villain that Terfling has become has publicly bragged about pouring HP royalties into anti-trans funding, or announcing that she counts any support for HP as support for her awful views? I'm mad about it! We all should be!
But we aren't the only community who is negatively impacted by this game, and.. maybe we aren't all individually required to speak on this but... Someone has to. A lot of someones.
(commentary from Jewish people always welcome, I hope this was a helpful addition to the current HL discussion)

In relation to all my ally posts:
If, like me, you've ever been the big fish in a small pond (i.e., "the smart kid" in a small or uneducated family/school/community/etc.), you might think you know everything once you learn a little bit about the world outside your own. But you don't. And you especially don't know more than the people whose lives hinge on whatever it is you think you've learned.
That doesn't mean you're dumb. You're learning, and learning is always good. Just don't fall for the trap of believing that learning is something you can finish. And especially don't buy into the idea that you know more about something than someone who is living it.
Sure, it's a hard pill to swallow if you've grown up thinking you're a genius, but learning to listen to other people who aren't as traditionally "smart" or educated as you is something you need to accept early on if you want to become a better person.

just to be completely clear, the amount of military power and political influence Israel has has NOTHING to do with its settlers being Jewish. Israel is a force for American & European interests in the region and they're just doing what America does and allows/encourages its close allies to do.
war crimes aren't considered war crimes when someone America finds useful is doing them. european and american pushback against anyone criticizing Israeli apartheid & genocide is 100% because these crimes are useful to American & European hegemony.
Governments that are deeply antisemitic, like France, aren't suddenly caring about Jewish people. Jewish people, persecuted the world over, don't hold some kind of hegemonic power outside of Israel.
The state of Israel and its attendant brutal treatment of the locals are both incredibly useful to the US, and American hegemony means we're expected to celebrate both.
not bc they're Jewish. this isn't a break in the pattern of western antisemitism and it's not evidence that antisemitism doesn't exist.
it's just like how you could get fired for saying shit against the US war in Afghanistan when i was growing up. it is 100% about US military and political interests (ok slightly western europe too but lbr)

coming in hot with my first take on antisemitism in a while after trying to limit my time on this cesspit of jew hatred: being an ally is not something you can identify as, it is something that you become through actions and are deemed so by the minority you are allying with. 99% of you who identify as an ally of the jewish people are actually raging antisemites. if we are scared of you (we are) you are not an ally, not matter how much you identify as one.

I don't think I can say this with enough emphasis--if you are not Jewish, you don't get to decide what is and is not antisemitic.
There's no ambiguity here. Zero. I am sick and tired of being lectured at by goyim about how, 'oh, ackhtually, your explanation of how my words are antisemitic is off! You're trying to stop the discussion by being inflammatory!'
Or to be told that I am cheapening the term antisemitism, and that people used to react to it before October 7th, but now they're numb to it, which is just what happens you start using serious accusations for political means!
It's... genuinely astonishing to me. I'm consistently amazed by the arrogance, audacity, and disrespect it takes for you guys to lecture Jews on what antisemitism is.
Have any of you goyim experienced antisemitism firsthand? Is it your people who's experienced antisemitism for 3000 years? Is it you who has family members rescued by Schindler? Was it your ancestors who fled from constant, unending pogroms in with nothing but the clothes on their backs? Have you ever had someone tell lies to your friend about you sexually harassing people because you're a Jew? Have you ever had to sit and think whether you should mark down that you're Jewish on a job application? Have you ever felt unsafe and compelled to take off your Star of David because you've been afraid you'd be attacked? Have you ever had to worry about a professor who constantly brings up the war in class marking your assignment down because it talks about Israel being a democracy? Have you ever had the feeling of acid being splashed on your soul when you see antisemitic comments? The ice water rushing down your spine when someone is antisemitic to your face, and you feel the weight of 3 millennia of oppression bearing down on you?
No? Not you?
Then sit your ass down, and frankly, shut the fuck up.

People on here spreading propaganda that the Iranian government is good...stop.
You are hurting Iranians, Jews, Muslims, Arabs, and more.
The Iranian government does not give a fuck about Palestine. All they are interested in is spreading their power and influence across the Middle East. They even hurled missiles at Al-Aqsa Mosque, which potentially could have destroyed or damaged it if the Iron Dome didn't exist. The only seriously injured victim in Israel was a 7 year old Muslim Bedouin girl. Many Arab countries understand how dangerous the Iranian government is and intercepted some of their missiles.
Iranians have been screaming at the top of their lungs that they don't want war and they are tortured and murdered by their government, but your desire to view the Middle East as a sports match makes you want to root for anyone who is against Israel. The Iranian government literally hosted a Holocaust denial convention in 2006 which included David Duke, one of the former leaders of the KKK. They are not against the Israeli government for the right reasons, but for antisemitic ones. The growing antisemitism in Iran due to their rule drove out thousands of Iranian Jews, many whose only option was to move to Israel.
Please do research before spewing ignorant bullshit that harms everyone. There is no shame in admitting you were misinformed. Peoples' lives are worth more than your bruised ego.

Being an ally isn't just "I don't hate this marginalised group", thats neutrality
Being an ally means supporting and helping those marginalised groups when facing bigotry, and yeah, that support and help means that occasionally, you have to give up some things, be it a game, a online creator, a musician, etc.
If you can't do the bare minimum of showing support, you're not an ally. You never were

On this New Years, I really want to thank every non-Jewish ally who has stood up for us ever since October 7.
Every non-Jew who has posted in support of Jews on your blog, a comment in the replies of our posts, or even just a like. Every tiny gesture matters, because even the tiniest shows of support for us can get you a lot of backlash, and I know it has. You’ve gone out of your way to help us when you don’t have to, during a time when it’s costing you the most and when the whole world is vilifying you for it.
We will never forget who abandoned and betrayed us since October 7. But we will never forget who stepped up for us either; who protected us, who argued on our behalf when we were too traumatized and exhausted to do it ourselves.
Years from now when everyone will claim that they totally stood in solidarity with the Jews when it wasn’t cool, you’ll know that you actually did. And so will I.
Happy new year!

if you're wondering why I kind of abandoned this blog, there's several reasons (fandom just doesn't feel fun anymore, I'm trying to cut back on screen time, I've been feeling like my faith is in contradiction to what I see/read/interact with on here is for years and years now) but the final straw has been what I see on my dash every day about Israel/Palestine.
I keep seeing people I used to interact with and used to like now peddling conspiracy theories, debunked claims, inflammatory headlines, and even bloodthirsty rhetoric with tens of thousands of notes (when corrections of those posts get ~500 notes at best), and reacting to nuanced conversations like they're calls for hatred, all while turning a blind eye to the very literal vicious hatred or sheer ignorance in many of those big posts. The level of black-and-white thinking is so strong that we are wayyyy past 'us-vs-them,' we're in the kind of discourse where even 'know thy enemy' (being interested in understanding the opposing arguments even just so you can dismantle them) is considered hatred - people can't be bothered to know what they're arguing for or against, nothing short of plugging your ears and screaming for the death of the Bad People is enough. This is a wave of just about the most hypocritical, callous and uninformed 'activism' this website has ever been guilty of and it's too much. I'm done with this.
And yes, this is about antisemitism. You can all shout 'not antisemitic, just anti-zionist' all day long but you have done jack shit to prove you don't hate Jews beside chanting 'punch a nazi' in the same breath you use KKK slurs and cheer for groups that have 'curse the Jews' in their slogan. I trust none of you anymore.

hey, Jewish friends: mute and block whatever tags you have to. you’re not excusing violence or absolving anyone of responsibility for wanting a break. especially if you are awaiting news on the wellbeing of your loved ones. take a break. let yourself be distracted for a bit.
