Shoutout to Rick Riordan for successfully brainwashing an entire generation into believing that the St. Louis arch goes over the Mississippi River. Actual king shit.

do we think for a moment when that door banged grover and annabeth were kids again? 19 and 7 standing on that hill in each others arms watching thalia take her stand ?
you think for a moment when grover realised percy was going to die for them he hoped Poseidon would help?
you think after everything annabeth couldn’t hope? you think she might have been angry because it was happening again? after all she’d done she was going to lose another friend
you think for a moment she lost her faith ?
because i do

just imagine percy at fifteen years old. feeling like his life is slipping through his fingers. feeling like he's running out of time to give his life purpose outside of being a child soldier. feeling like the only control he has over is life is by pushing people away. is by running away. so when annabeth calls him a coward. he can't help but agree with her.

I've seen some people say that Annabeth and Grover should have taken Percy to the river that was right there because it's different than just a still shallow fountain. So I'd like to explain to y'all why they did not do that. The river next to the arch is the Mississippi. You CANNOT swim in the Mississippi River (at least not on the St. Louis side). Because of all the bacteria and pollution, you most likely get sick if you were to swim in that. And there is no "beach" area so they'd have to drop him off the side of it and just hope that he gets healed so he has the strength to pull himself back up. They also didn't know he could breathe underwater at this point. So that's why they didn't consider dropping him in the river, it would have been a very bad idea.

Today marks ten years since Rise of the Guardians was released. I can and have talked the ear off of anyone who will listen about this movie.
Sometimes, I put it on just to look at all the textures and small details in the character designs. Sometimes, I put it on for comforting background noise. The books are whimsically strange and delightful with such lovely illustrations. I just love the characters, love the story, love that I can visit them for comfort and inspiration.
The Guardians brought magic back into my life, and I’ve been so glad to have them the last ten years. I’m sure these won’t be the last pieces of fan art I ever do (Jack is still one of my favorite characters to draw, you know he’ll be back), but I’m glad I got to finish these portraits to celebrate the film in time for its anniversary.
I believe, I believe, I believe.

When you suddenly remember a book detail that satyrs can sense emotions which means Grover had to have some kind of warning that Percy was gonna pull that switcharoo stunt.
