8 (R/K) for the drabble. And 49 (R/K) if someone chose 8 before I did ... or both if you want. 😀
Thank you so much for the ask @those70scomics ! I did both but I'm gonna go ahead and share number 8 first! Thank you so much for sending in the prompt! It was such fun to write!
"Wanna bet?"
Word Count: 500 exactly had to go back and edit a few words out lol
Kitty was sitting in the living room flipping through her Ladies Home Journal magazine and enjoying her day off when her husband entered through the swinging door. From the sound of his footsteps, he seemed to be in a fairly good mood so she looked up and gave him a smile before returning back to her reading material.
“Looks like Steven and the loud one are dating now,” he shared.
Kitty didn’t even bother to look up from the magazine. “No, no, they’re just spending extra time together while Michael’s away in California.”
“The Burkhart girl’s got a good head on her shoulders. I think she finally realized she could do a lot better than the kettle head,” Red had now made himself comfortable in his arm chair. He shrugged, “She and Steven might be a good match.”
“Oh, they’d be a perfect match” Kitty was quick to correct. “But Steven would’ve told me if there was something happening with him and Jackie.”
She had after all helped him realize his true feelings for her last year and had even inspired him to ask Jackie out on their first date. He had even talked to her after the date. There was no chance that Steven would keep something like this from her; the idea sounded preposterous.
She waved a hand in Red’s general direction. “There is nothing going on with Steven and Jackie.”
“Wanna bet?”
Kitty lifted her gaze from the magazine and found her husband looking back at her with a smirk. A challenging smirk. Quickly, she shut her magazine with an audible slap.
“Ok, Mr. Confidence,” she scooted closer to the edge of the sofa. “What do you have in mind?”
“There’s a car show in Kenosha next week,” he said.
Kitty rolled her eyes, of course his prize would have something to do with cars.
“You want to go to a car show by yourself?”
“No,” he said, that mischievous smile of his making it was back to his face. “I want you to go with me.”
Suddenly all annoyance Kitty felt was replaced with dread. That last car show they’d gone to together had been a disaster.
“So, if there is something going on between Steven and the loud one, meaning I’m right—which I am—we go to the car show,” Red laid it all out. “And it’s counting as our monthly date night out.”
As much as Kitty dreaded the mere thought of going to another car show, she was sure that Red wouldn’t win this bet, which meant she had to make sure her winning prize was really good.
“Oh fine. But if I’m right—which I know I am” she repeated his tactic. “We go to Jack’s Bistro for our monthly date night out.”
Red scowled. “Jack’s Bistro, that place is three times as expensive and fancy as Frenchies!”
“I know,” Kitty beamed and stuck out an open palm. “Do we have a deal?”
“Deal,” Red agreed, as he met her hand in a shake.
*Two days later Kitty walked in on Steven and Jackie kissing in front of her refrigerator. This is my take on why Kitty was less than thrilled to find them together. She’d lost a bet to Red.
Send in some prompts and get a short drabble

T7S parents (from the worst to less shitty)
1. Edna Hyde (canonically used to beat Hyde)
2. Pam Burkhart (rich Edna except she doesn’t physically abuse Jackie)
3. Bud Hyde (Drunk asshole mess, fucks up Hyde’s life)
4. John Kelso & Mrs.Kelso (They’re cool in my verse, but Eric saying that they won’t even know that Kelso is gone…)
5. Jack Burkhart (Seems to be one to buy Jackie’s love when he lets her down, which seems to be constant. Kinda like how Keso got that plushie after he finished ignoring her when taking her virginity. Oml jackie basically married her father!)
6. Bob Pinciotti (He tries his best but can be pretty sexist at times)
7. Midge Pinciotti (I get why she left, but it sucks for Donna 😭)
8. William Barnett (I think he was a really good parent. The only thing is, did he know Edna had his son before?)
9. Fez’s bio parents + host parents (I don’t remember many descriptions but they seemed nice)
10. Red Forman & Kitty Forman (They’re probably some of the best out of the list, but honestly they’re really shitty parents imo and are put on way too high of a pedestal.)

Thanks for the ask! Fanfic ask game
8. Post an out-of-context spoiler from a wip.
Ooh, this one's tricky! Okay in my latest (and longest 🥵) WIP that seeks to bridge T70S and T90S I can give a little spoiler about each major arc:
Eric and Donna both end up finishing college, but not in Madison (or Chicago) 👀
Kelso's storyline intersects with Jack Burkhart's (Jackie's father) in a significant way 👀
Jackie and Hyde remind me of Billy and Daisy from Daisy Jones and the Six (iykyk) 👀
12. Do you outline your fics?  If yes, how detailed are your outlines?  How far do you stray from them?
Yes, I do. Well, usually. For like a drabble or something quick that comes to me out of nowhere (rare), no. But a multichapter story with intersecting plotlines like I mentioned above, absolutely.
My outlines can be too detailed sometimes - to the point that I have to remind myself to not get too wrapped up in the outlining that I neglect the actual writing. How far I stray from the outline varies. I've had fics where I stick to it almost exactly and I've had fics where what I ended up writing was nowhere near what I initially outlined. That's why it's an art, not a science. 😘
65. If you wrote a sequel to [Drops of Jupiter], what would happen in it?
I have actually never thought about this, because I wrapped up DoJ with an epilogue that was like 15 or 20 years later (Natalia's wedding day) and we see that all of the characters are happy and get a quick summary of what happened to them.
Not sure which route I would take - filling in those 15 years, Eric and Donna getting to know each other again, getting married, Eric becoming a parent to Natalia, having their son Ben? Jackie and Hyde getting married and raising their daughter Briah? Or if I would jump off from the epilogue - we know Natalia and her new husband are off to join the Peace Corps. Eric's son likes Jackie and Hyde's daughter. I don't know. Truth be told, my disinclination to center a story around OC's makes this a not particularly interesting direction to me. But it was a fun thought experiment! Thanks for the questions. 😊

Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone in Killers of the Flower Moon (Martin Scorsese, 2023)
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, Jenae Collins, Jillian Dion, Jason Isbell, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Scott Shepherd, Everett Waller, Talee Redcorn, Yancey Red Corn, Tatanka Means. Screenplay: Eric Roth, Martin Scorsese, based on a book by David Gran. Cinematography: Rodrigo Prieto. Production design: Jack Fisk. Film editing: Thelma Schoonmaker. Music: Robbie Robertson.
Like everyone who knows anything about movies, I admire Martin Scorsese. He's an acknowledged master storyteller, able to elicit fine performances and to find just the way to place and move the camera. But why does Killers of the Flower Moon, like so many of his films, leave me cold? The treatment of the indigenous people of this country will always be an urgent American subject, and Scorsese has found a story with vivid characters, both about the exploited and the exploiters. The film has sweep and texture, which is exactly what it needs. But the moment Leonardo DiCaprio appeared on screen, looking puffy and thick-headed in contrast to his usual bright, handsome persona, turning his mouth down at the corners so he looks a little like Robert De Niro, who plays his uncle, I felt something was off. He gives a good performance as the somewhat slow Ernest Burkhart, who is roped by his uncle William Hale into a scheme to defraud the newly oil-rich members of the Osage tribe of their money. But that's what it is: a performance. And when Jesse Plemons comes on screen as the federal agent investigating the scheme, I knew what was wrong: DiCaprio was originally slated to play the fed, which would have been consistent with his acting persona, but he asked Scorsese if he could play Burkhart instead, knowing that it was the more complex role. Scorsese yielded to the star who has been the lead in six of his films, starting with Gangs of New York (2002). So instead of feeling the urgency of the story, I felt I was watching an actor try out something new. Would Killers of the Flower Moon have been a better movie if, say, DiCaprio took the intended role and let Plemons play Burkhart, casting that would have been a better fit? I don't know, because the other thing about the movie that bothers me is more fundamental: It's a story told from the white man's point of view. All of the bad guys in the film are fully characterized, but of the Osage characters, only Mollie (Lily Gladstone), whose marriage to Burkhart sets the plot in motion, comes alive as a real person, thanks in large part to Gladstone's fine performance but also to Scorsese for giving the role substance. I kept wanting the Osages to break out of movie stereotypes of Native Americans -- the way, for example, the characters in the great TV series Reservoir Dogs did. Instead we get the usual victimization and swoony nature mysticism that afflict even well-meaning films dealing with indigenous people. Killers of the Flower Moon is often a very good movie, but something is lacking at its core.

The entire plot point surrounding Ironwood becoming a bigger threat to the mains then Salem herself.
Send me a plot point in Volume 8 + your opinion on it so I can radically alter your already-bad perception of a terrible season of RWBY.
Here's the thing about that plot: it's a torpedo.
People have the wrong idea when they, in the depths of their rwde thoughts, say that Volume 8 was the plan trailing from Volume 7, and it was just poorly-executed. Poor execution was not the problem. Miles and Kerry said multiple times throughout the Volume 8 commentary that Volume 8 was what they had originally planned for Volume 7, and motherfucker, do I believe it. There is no real attempt to lead James Ironwood into Jack Tincan, antagonist of V8. Ironwood's heroic journey in Volume 7 starts on Chapter 2, and ends on Episode 11--9 and a half episodes, versus half of one--seven-ish minutes, maybe ten total--meant to basically try and throw a sheet over all of it and make way for incoming nonsense.
Volume 8 was made with no fucking regard whatsoever for Volume 7, in a manner that makes it clear that Miles and Kerry felt no need nor any obligation to account for new material inbetween what they'd already written and what was incoming. The 'poor execution' isn't just all there is: it's a bunch of writing habits and patterns that were absent throughout V7 returning with a vengeance 11 episodes in and littered throughout V8. They almost certainly took the reigns back after letting Burkhart and friends pen one and only one season of the show.
That's a thing that unfortunately happens even with authors writing the whole work solo: they have an ending in mind and already written, and they just refuse to change it despite interim material dictating that yeah, sometimes you have to change it.
Ironwood and Salem are the biggest proofs of this. Salem has a hilariously small part in a volume that was allegedly built up to be her entrance to the war she was fighting with the heroes, yet she literally never leaves her ship and Ironwood never meets her in person. They never even think of one another at all. Miles and Kerry never intended them to. Salem herself was a bit player--they wanted a villainous Ironwood, and damn it, they were going to have one, and to hell with anything that got in the way--including Volume 7 and including the big bad of the whole fucking story. The nuke that eventually menaces Mantle starts off intended to blow up Salem--and was probably going to do exactly that in someone's drafts, hence MK's scribbling over that with highlighter and inserting the Ozpin Cane Nuke From Nowhere to get that job done so that Ironwood could try to blow up Mantle for...no reason whatsoever since the fight was already won.
The pettiness is astounding.

Do you have any Jackie x Hyde fanfic recommendations?!!
Always, always, always! There's so much talent in this fandom, and I'd love to highlight a few of my absolute all-time favorites. I'm primarily on AO3, so these recommendations will definitely skew more toward work posted there; if y'all have any recs on other sites, feel free to let me know!
multi-chapter fics
Hyde's Long Way Home by @those70scomics
This is probably the one I reread the most, tied with the same creator's One Difference: Jackie and Hyde Don't Kiss (During the Summer), primarily because I just absolutely adore their writing and the way they so effortlessly write Jackie and Hyde, both as individuals and as a couple. It definitely helps that the story is set right at the start of the Chicago debacle, meaning there's canon divergence, and thank god for that; I'm a staunch season-eight denier. I'm also a sucker for a good groundhog day situation, and this work scratches that itch and then some. This one's definitely a lot heavier than some other fics I love—hence the mature rating—but it's oh-so worth it.
The Queen Of All My Dreams by @springsteenicious
Fantasy isn't normally a genre I consider when looking at Jackie/Hyde fanfiction, but this fic is wholly worth diving into a different genre, especially since it does the genre justice. The story begins a few days after Chicago and features a whole lot of magic and adventure, giving it a Lord of the Rings feel, minus the stuffiness of typical fantasy stories. The gang still very much feels like the gang, and everyone's character progression feels natural and not at all outlandish or forced, which many fix-it stories (can this be considered a fix-it? Maybe for season 7?) tend to struggle with.
Miracle by B_August (I don't know if they're on tumblr, but if they are, PLEASE send me their blog so I can follow it!)
Good lord, where to begin with this one? As you've probably guessed if you've read any of the stuff I've put out, I've got a soft spot for strong!Jackie, and an even softer spot for Jackie with powers. Miracle has absolutely all of that. It also features an incredibly sweet Steven Hyde, a surprisingly attentive Jack Burkhart, and my absolute favorite, the effervescent Buddy Morgan. It is a little out of character at times, sure, but the characterization makes sense for the point of the story in which things start changing, as well as the changed circumstances around the lives of the gang. There's also the added bonus of many, many DC references (a welcome side-effect of being a Superman story of sorts). I highly, HIGHLY recommend it!! (There's also a sequel that is currently being updated that you can find here.) Let B_August know I say hi if you check out their work :)
Of All Things Creepy & Unnatural by CaedenceLaura
This one's over on fanfiction.net! It explores how the Jackie/Hyde dynamic might have evolved differently had the rest of the gang not learned of their relationship sooner. Personally, I really enjoyed the secret relationship aspect of this fic, and though they do get found out eventually, it's nice to see how having that extra time to themselves might've strengthened their bond. This fic isn't complete, but still worth a read!
Steven Who? by kezztip
This is another one that I reread quite frequently. There are few fics on this list that genuinely make me laugh out loud several times per read-through, but this one never fails to get me chuckling. The premise is just... I almost don't even want to say anything, just so you can read it for yourself. Going in blind might be the way with this one.
Heart Like Yours by @jacquelineshyde
Something in me is really drawn to the concept of Hyde realizing just how much he cares for Jackie a little too late. In most fics, the "little too late" aspect of that typically means that Jackie's moved on to some other guy or something like that; that's still relevant in this one, but she's also straight up in a coma, and to me that makes the despair of the situation all that tastier. Add to that some good ol' out-of-body action, and, well, you've got yourself a fun little If I Stay spin on our T7S universe.
one-shots
sighs in my sleep by @madroxed
This was the first ever fic I read in the fandom, believe it or not, and something about it was just so captivating to me that it kept me in a fandom clickhole for about two months. TW for mentions of an eating disorder (it's a throwaway line in the second half, but it did give me pause when I read it) and pregnancy, if that's something you're very much not into.
Moth Drawn to Light by @rosalinesbenvolio
Screaming, crying. There's something So Good about Hyde with baby fever... I genuinely don't even have any more words to explain it. So good, so so cute. Read now!
--
I feel like there are so many more that I'm missing, so maybe I'll make a part two at some point if it's requested. For now, though, these are my main loves in this fandom. I also read fics in other fandoms: Stranger Things, Harry Potter, Twilight, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and truly too many more. I'm always happy to talk fanfiction, whether about any of those fandoms or just in general!

Fictober 25 - "It's alright, I'm here now."
Summary: What were Jackie and Hyde talking about in “Thank You” on the stairs?
“So why aren’t you with your folks?” Hyde asked. He would’ve thought that Jack probably got some special expensive turkey for the Burkharts to enjoy.
Jackie shrugged, “My mom’s out of town with her boyfriend Chad and my dad’s not gonna be here. Business trip. At least he got me a diamond necklace.” At this point, she had given up on her parents. Her mom kept skipping out of town every time she got and her dad was barely around.
Hyde sighed, leaving a hand over hers. He wish he didn’t know what it was like to have to deal with deadbeat parents. Wish he didn’t understand what Jackie was feeling. The only difference was that her parents were rich.
Jackie shook her head, “It’s fine Steven. Besides, I’ve got the Formans. But sometimes I just…” She gulped, holding back tears. Hyde pulled her in for a hug, stroking her head. “It's alright, I'm here now." He whispered. What he’d do to find a axe to kill her parents for making her feel like this. He used to think that Jackie did have basically the perfect life. With all the money and the status. But it turns out that she’s just as broken as he is.
