it's weird how in the flashback episodes we never really see sam as an angry kid when we hear so much about how he argued with john nonstop and how vocal he was about hating the life throughout the show, he's always portrayed as kinda timid and quiet.

the only time we see him act out like that (that i remember right now anyway) is in after school special and he spends the entire episode pushing it down and swallowing everything he wants to say until he is finally pushed too far

its almost like sam wasn't a horribly angry child (or adult)

#this goes doubly for early seasons sam who kept getting told he was so filled with rage #i also just think that its kinda bad writing. i feel like the writers forgot that sam was constantly standing up for him and dean never did #im also reading weechesters fics rn and the most frustraiting thing is reading a fic that portrays dean as the rebelious one who stood up t #john for sam #you literally have never watched the show ever #we also never really get to see teen sam which is so hurtful to me personally :( #i know it would have been difficult because sam was 22 in the pilot so people kinda know what teen him and early 20s dean look like #but i prommy people woyld have suspended their disbelief

execution is far more important (and so much harder) than just having a good premise, so many writers think that their ideas will carry their work when that's literally just the jumping off point & counts for nothing if you can't actually do it justice. but unfortunately the publishing industry is now reinforcing these people's delusions by gleefully churning out grotesque gimmicky garbage that is the literary equivalent of fast food & not even good hot fresh fast food but like cold stale mcdonald's nuggets that you scrounged out of a dumpster behind a library. it's all marketed based on the tropes and fanfic tags and the editors clearly don't give enough of a shit to actually read the pathetic novels they're greenlighting before they go and spew them all over the digitally lobotomized borderline illiterate masses . booktok is smallpox. booktok is all 4 horsemen of the apocalypse . booktok killed my grandma

when it comes to the unfinished fics that haven't been updated in 3 years and had an authors note that said the next chapter was ready and would be out in a week and the author has no other social media that i can find (not naming names but i have like 3 fav fics like this), yes, I'd take the mediocre continuation half bc i wanna know the author is safe and half bc i have reread the entirety of the fic several times and i need to see where it goes as long as it makes sense.

oh i get that. it's always scary when there's no way to check in with the author too.

since my DC binge, i went back to ff.net just to scope around and see if i could find my old favs. luckily i managed to find some of them crossposted to AO3 and follow the authors' new works there, but it was hard going back in time and seeing so many authors i adored who were just... gone. one of my favorite authors, someone who honestly contributed a lot to my writing style regarding mystery and slow-burn thriller, had passed away.

obviously we never met and im not even sure i left comments on their stuff (i was pretty shy about it) but i raved about their stuff for weeks. i still remember it being the highlights of my month years ago. parasocial relationships yes yes yes, but seriously. the joy i get from getting emails after years, or seeing someone move their account and getting to see them interact again... it's not unnoticed!

(also yes, rereading the whole fic after an update is soooooo mecore i love it when i do that and then get re-obsessed all over again. its amazing.)

Mulling around the "season 2 was like reading fanfiction" critique in my head which honestly yeah, it was messy and a bit disorderly but I didn't mind it at all. It felt loved to me and the people working on it seemed to have fun.

So sure, like a "fanfiction" (there are well crafted, professionally made, fanfics out there dude???) But honestly if my favorite fanfic on AO3 got a live action adaptation I'd be over the moon about it.

I don't even write but give AO3 writers (and other sites like such) a bit of credit, yeah?

BEYOND THAT, I'm focused on finishing Attentive Vigor first, thankfully there's only two chapters left to finish & post, and I'm deep in the throes of them! There's lots of Sean & Lenny in that one, if you want a longfic exploring a possible outcome of them surviving past their scripted deaths (among other things; it's a multiship fic after all lmao. it starts out p arthur/charthur heavy but there's LOTS of macsummers later on) :3

I'll be working on my Height of Hearts fic after that, which also has Sean as a main character / macsummers as a main pairing. One chapter is already out but I've been completely waylaid off writing for that one bcz life has forced me to prioritize and I rly just wanna finish AV first >w<

HOWEVER all that said, I DO have some more Sean-centric oneshots in mind, that I wanna write in the future, though I can't give you an exact time estimate for them as things are now. There's a Lenny POV macsummers one I want to do first, that I'm excited to write when I get that far, but yeah I don't really give myself due dates for oneshots that aren't for anything but fun 🙈 They come when they come, with inspiration and time to write them!! I might drop one in a month bcz an idea overtook me, or in six months bcz I've been working on my other stuff!

Thank u very much for showing interest though, I'm always delighted when people enjoy my fics, and Sean DEFINITELY deserves more works centered on him. I love writing for him, so I'm glad my take on him hits for people ;;w;;
