Is it weird that the fact that Britomart is a generic elf girl in all but her first ascension makes a part of me want to make an elf Fanservant out of protest?

actually I'm kind of curious about this because it was a huge debate among my peers in my community
Clarifications under the cut:
The poster is in a public space where it is typical for everyday people to post things. It is not someone's private property or possession. Think piece of paper taped to a telephone pole, not sign in a storefront or in someone's yard.
The poster is not protected by law; you are very unlikely to face legal consequences for vandalizing it. Caveat: some peers have argued that it risks being socially consequential because an organization or demographic that you are a part of may be judged as intolerant/oppressive/disruptive/otherwise unpleasant if people witness your actions, and thus advocated against vandalism for fear of damaging your public image.
The poster is not an expensive or personal piece of artwork; it is a mass produced print on letter paper.
You are vehemently opposed to the message displayed on the poster, but it is an opinion that people are free to have in your country.
The 4th option refers to things like intentionally putting your own poster over top of the bad poster or otherwise making the bad poster harder to view; some people argued that targeting the poster for removal is out of line, but posting your own messages is an innocent action that you are well within your right to do (in this context, posters regularly eclipse each other as new ones are posted over top of outdated ones due to limited space)
The poster is part of a campaign; it's not unique. There are many postings of it across the community.
This is all assuming that the offending poster is not old and would typically not be considered fair game for pruning for quite some time, and that it is being specifically targeted for removal because of its message (rather than petty vandalism or because it's obstructive or damaged). E.g., if a poster is advertising an event happening on April 20th, it's typical to prune it after that date but not before.
Of course the situation that prompted the real life debate did involve a specific offending message, but I'm not going to specify what it was for now because I think it'll skew the results as people will just end up voting based on whether they like or dislike that message, which isn't the point of this. For this poll we are assuming that it IS a message that you are very opposed to; you can substitute in your own opinion that you have strong feelings about.
Please reblog for sample size!

It's my own opinion but the more I watch the new season of the Bad Batch the more I feel like Tech's death was just cheap.
In a series focused on the Bad Batch, we saw more Rampart and Emerie than Echo . An integral member since the beginning.
So what if killing of Tech was just another quick way to get rid of a character they wouldn't have had time to write a role for? I mean, they barely talk about him and we never get to see anyone's reaction to his death.
It just feels like killing him was a way to get rid of a character easily to focus on others or just to make more drama in the new season.
"Oh Tech isn't here to do that so I guess we're going to have to risk our lives for this things."
"If Tech were here it would be easier but since he's not, guess we're going to have to take the long road !"

honestly, looking at izaya's life from a third person pov, it's just... sad? like.
here's this guy who touts himself as something akin to a god and a master manipulator and someone to be feared, and he IS very good at what he does, except... when you take a look at the rest of his life, you see a mid-20s man who has no friends, nobody who really likes him- his clients fear him, his secretary isn't fond of him, and the one friend he DOES have is honestly kind of a garbage friend. and when people draw attention to this, izaya goes on this spiel about how this friendship is so intricrate it can't possibly be understood by an outsider, but what's REALLY happening is that shinra routinely doesn't care for izaya on a personal level via ignoring and ostracizing him, and izaya kind of just. takes it up the ass
he sees everyone around him as an object and the sad thing is everyone, in turn, sees HIM as an object- less an actual living being and more an abstract concept, or at least something that only exists for others to gain something from. it's this vicious cycle of izaya keeping everyone at arm's length and denying his own humanity, which in turn leads to people also denying his humanity, unknowingly feeding into this fucked up cycle of self depracation that most likely started when he was a child- his parents didnt see him as a person, just a mouth to feed and later, a way to have the life they wanted while still appearing respectable- they had kids, just like society said they should, but theyre not obligated to care for them.
and the one person who DOES notice there is something unhealthy going on can't be assed to do anything about it- in volume 9, shinra explicitly says that he doubts izaya expects to live long enough to die of old age- celty actually agrees with him! celty not being assed about it i'd expect, she already hates izaya and doesn't actually know all that much about him, but shinra at least should realize that there's something off about the whole situation. wether thats out of apathy or he just genuinley doesnt believe izaya is being unhealthy, i don't know.
but as it stands, here's a man who insists he can't be manipulated and that he's in control, who's... routinely mistreated by his only friend whom he still talks to and expects some sort of closeness from, and who ultimatley not only loses control, but loses it so spectacularly that he ends up disabled, possibly permanently. i KNOW the spinoff novels said he couldve walked if he went to physical therapy, but "ability to walk" does NOT equal "not disabled anymore."
like... it's just. a sad life! it's a horribly sad existence of a perpetual misery cycle that izaya not only doesn't pull himself out from but actively perpetuates via constantly giving in to his worst impulses and keeping everyone away from him via said impulses, ensuring nobody will notice anything wrong, and that people who DO notice and DO realize its unhealthy, won't give enough of a shit about him to help

DC is just so silly! This:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman #423 (1988)
Came exactly one issue before this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Batman #424 (1988)
But we get this little reminder at the end of 423, of what the core of Batman really is and what we should ultimately keep in mind:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile the latter was left to be framed in this light:
Tumblr media
Batman #425 (1988)
Ah yes. The established empath calling a SA victim foolish.
If we take what Jason says at face value then what he did to Garzonas the rapist isn’t much different from what Batman did to that addict/thief (and what he does to countless other opponents he doesn’t deem deserving of salvation). The difference is Jason didn’t have a police officer pat him on the back and vouch for the goodness of his character for wanting to protect women and children.

thinking about rick admitting to only helping with the war because he wanted bp to respect him. and not realising the irony in admitting this and how it loses him that very respect
Tumblr media
#WORST FUMBLE IN HISTORY.#birdrick#ok but genuinely. bp must REALLY care for rick to trust him still after like. EVERYTHING#i think they were close enough that bp can understand ricks motivation for doing things better than rick himself at times#(eg: rick not telling him abt his daughter)#so while bp may not agree with rick on a lot of things he still gets and respects Why rick does stuff#and same like vice versa#bp was able to put aside his hurt to tell rick to call him if he needs#and rick was able to root for bp at the wedding despite clearly hurting#etc etc#i think bp would have a good grasp on how rick could come to see everything as pointless#depsite not knowing abt the portal gun EXPLICITLY.#just as rick would have an understanding of why tammy and birddaughter mattered so much to bp#but i think rick gets wrapped up in himself a lot#him making like. the exact same mistake after reviving bp as at bloodridge is.. crushing#he just forgets. or like it doesnt occur to him in the moment that people might not want the same things as him#but ohhh man. it hurts so bad#rick doesnt hold any grudges toward bp it seems. like as much as he throws insults around all he ever does is try to support bp#like even w bloodridge it seems more that his avoidance was due to being embarrassed of what he did#BUT. memory rick thinking bp is the asshole. implying again bp thought at least for a while that rick rlly hated him for it#but yet they still consider each other their closest friend. and both love each other and would drop everything to help each other#fuck my life man. seriously#wtf was i talking abt. i forget im just rambling npw#ohhh they make me explode.

when reading scripture or religious texts in my studies from a variety of religions (a not-insignificant part of my education has been religious studies) i can appreciate and understand the beauty and appeal of it and make sense of its internal logic system and worldview and feel that i'm picking up what it's putting down even if i don't necessarily identify with it on a personal level, but i gotta be honest i always feel like i'm missing something or losing my mind when i read christian texts like i don't get it and it doesn't make sense to me and nothing about the trinity makes sense to me and the entire worldview feels so harsh and terrifying and bleak for no reason and every time i've asked anyone in my family (on the christian side) to explain any of it to me like sincerely i just feel more baffled and whenever i've had to read passages of the new testament i dont get it at all like even abstractly i don't understand and it makes me feel crazy like what i'm looking at has to be completely different from what other people are seeing and i don't mean it in a reddit atheist smug asshole way like it's genuinely beyond my comprehension I Don't Get It and i don't think i ever will

WAIT Elle has box braids in s3??? I could cry
I don't think she had bad hair in s1 or s2, but I'm excited that they're actually giving the Black girls Black hairstyles instead of having them wear it out.
Before, it felt like the (all-white, for context) hair department was just ignorant about Black hair, so they put wigs on the Black actresses and only did styles that also work on nonblack hair for their own sake/convenience. This theory was especially supported by the fact that Tara, whose 4c hair couldn't really be styled the same as nonblack hair, wore a twistout that would take literal hours to do every day, but she had box braids in s2! and Elle has box braids now!! I'm so excited!!!
I also feel like this fits her bold, fashion-loving personality so much better than leaving her hair out. Our hair is basically its own accessory, and the long box braids are very feminine. Again, I'm not saying not having a protective style isn't feminine or fashionable (I myself am a fashion girlie with an Afro), but having one is another outlet for her creativity, and I'm glad they're recognizing that now.

not me openly admitting that shade lowkey takes after me. this was not intentional, I swear. uwu; she kinda just... ended up with an extra dose of who I am as a person, whereas most of my original characters receive much less.
I realized this when considering that shade is most likely homo leaning. and I was like, haha she's just like me ! an enby ace lesbian... and then the similarities just kept getting drawn. idk maybe I'm just overly tired.
also like. not gonna apologize ? she really isn't a self-insert. but its also like... creators are allowed to put themselves into what they make ! and I'm proud of shade, I really am. so I won't be made ashamed for traits we might share.
#《 ° puffin.exe 》 im a puffin ! i dont do much#° mobile post !#° to be deleted !#tbh i dont know hoe people get off accusing people of making self inserts in the rpc like#how do you know ?? unless i explicitly state or draw comparisons ??#and why would i do that if my intent is to fool people ? like.#i understand that interacting with inserts can be uncomfortable. i do !#but unless you really know the person ? you arent in a place to say their characters are inserts#and tbh i feel like most of my discomfort comes from the prospect of being deceived#im okay with writing with inserts but im gonna draw boundaries#especially if youre writing them with the intent to live through them / fantasize.#while I think its valid its not something i am personally comfortable with. i dont consent to that as an rp partner.#but im also envisioning the worst possibility in which its someone getting off to how i interact with their oc#point being. to my mind. self inserts arent bad. they also arent easy to judge.#and even if i dont consent to interacting with an insert for the purpose of being wank material or emotional stimulus...#people could still use my content for wank or emotional stimulus by putting themselves in the shoes of whoever im writing with so#am i really one to judge? no. because again. i dont know.#and i honestly think anyone who can come out and say their oc is an insert or takes after them is#more trustworthy than someone who doesnt disclose it. idk just. there is no need for deception.#and if you do try to deceive me im gonna assume you have ill intent#whereas honesty is something that should be valued. especially in cases where the truth is so stigmatized.

what is it with this past 24 hours and absolutely baffling takes on the last episode
#like y’all think kendall had every right to ignore rome’s wishes to not have the abuse leaked bc roman is living in a dream world where#logan wasn’t abusive and needs to be brought back down to reality???????? y’all think he loses the ability to have a stake in this decision#bc his abuse is so deeply internalized that he excuses logan’s actions for it??????? it’s one thing to say ken made the smart move but it’s#a whooooole other one to act like he didn’t even do anything bad at all. you do realize they explicitly mentioned leaking the physical#abuse right? you do realize rome was the only one (we know at least) to have been phys abused? you think kendall is right to leak that info#to the masses?????? that would literally define roman’s life. like he’d be The Roy That Logan Beat. how the fuck is he supposed to grieve#his very-recently-dead father let ALONE heal from his abuse if roman’s forced to relive it in the public eye 2 days after logan dies#like the experience of having that leaked will be infinitely worse roman than for kendall bc he will be singled out as the only one logan#hated enough to beat and boy do tabloids love physical abuse and kendall is WAY closer to coming to terms w the abuse than roman who#really really needs to work through that shit before idk it becomes public domain#like idk if that’s what WILL happen but it certainly fuckin could. we have no rzn to think it wouldn’t!!!!#this isn’t like a Uniquely Evil Move from ken or anything it’s a pretty classic succession maneuver i’m not saying he’s the devil or smth#like… at all. but it’s still not a Great Thing To Do? especially to roman?????#seen this take multiple diff times now. insane <3#it’s wrong to act like this is the single worst thing any character haa ever done (a take i have not seen but i digress) but it is also very#wrong to act like it literally wasn’t even bad#seen this take at least four times so i’m not talkin ab any one person or thing in particular just like… dude. cmon#succession#succession spoilers

okay okay, i'm finally watching appmon
i'm only like 5 eps in and watching it while doing art
the buddy apps so far that we've met (gatchmon and dokamon) are so fucking funny. they're both weirdos for entirely different reasons.
also appmon really feels like the bridge between xros wars and ghost game so far--- applink emphasizing the power of connections like digixros, and a lot of worldbuilding elements that feel like they were stripped for parts into ghost game (the AR field and a lot of how the mons interact with IRL stuff).
i guess also the grb factor feels reminiscent of the l virus but i'll put a pin in that until the resolution of the plot ghfghfmghfghhj
i guess that shouldn't be a surprise considering that, like, GG was completely fine having espimon (an appmon) be a main supporting cast member, but
yes i know adventure 2020 technically came between appmon and ghost game, but. adventure media including the reboot exists as an extant form of digimon that just is to my brain lmao.

Between TF and my other fandoms like BG3 and TES, I keep finding myself making OCs that have some element of "battle hardened hero who is actually good and righteous, but so traumatized by the toll of war that even after the war ends they feel empty/wrecked and can't enjoy the fruits of victory" and I'm not sure if it's bc I gravitate to a certain type of media where such OCs fit in best, or bc I have a specific character archetype I like and gravitate towards media that contains those things.
#squiggposting#possibly a mix of both bc idk if i've gone into detail here but war stories are one of my favorite genre of stories#like for fun fictional reasons but also for real life political and moral and emotional implications#war stories are literally so fucking cool man i feel like they get a bad rap for just being propaganda tools#and obv a lot of them can be/are explicitly made to be but also like#(i feel like i'm stealing a quote from one such story) war stories are also a method for the soldiers of the war to tell their side#and usually the soldier's side of the story tells of the LESS glorious and propagandistic sides#maybe ive just had the pleasure of having really good teachers/professors but like#most of the war stories i've read are specifically ABOUT the bridge bt war propaganda and the actual experience of fighting in a war#and i think even the ones where the soldier in question supports the war (american sniper comes to mind)#it's very interesting and dare i say important to read it and understand when and why and how they came to support war#like idk i think it's one of those things where ppl shy away from war stories bc#'ew gross it's all pro war probably american imperialist propaganda written by oppressive killers trying to make us feel sorry for them'#without understanding... idk. the difference between an individual soldier's evil and the evil of an entire institution?#some sort of anti intellectualism regarding soldiers as being inherently evil ppl who aren't to be listened to or taken seriously?#it's not a matter of like. you don't need to like or sympathize with them per se. but i think part of understanding and criticizing#the institution of war is getting the ground level testimonies about it. and more of them are critical than some ppl believe#plus i mean FUCK usamerican imperialism it doesn't need to be about US wars! other countries lived thru other wars that are also important!#war stories may have their strongest association w american imperialism but that doesn't mean other war stories don't exist#idk sorry for rambling in the tags

Me recommending nonfiction to people is so funny. I've had people reference both I Contain Multitudes and Underland when I recommended them as "scary" in the last week as if they were horror novels. These books are so drastically different and their subject matter can freak people out in very different ways but in my head they're both just like... about aspects of the world. Many of them natural! Many of them also deadly.
Which is hilarious because I'm over here like, "What's scary is NOT delving into the unknown because you're more afraid of the potential of what you'll find rather than being prepared to handle it."
