Favorite OC - Jett

Not surprising. As much as I love my other characters (Auletta don't kill me), Jett just gotta be my favorite. Bounty hunter storyline being one of my favorites definitely affects this, but there is much more to this. She is this 'tough on the outside, softie on the inside' type of character that I just adore, I love her personal arcs about trauma, meaningful connections and leadership. And of course strong badass Mando women are just cool and get an instant liking from me :) I can go on for hours on this, but let's move on.

Newest OC - Beirya and Zin

I had more ideas for new characters after I made Rya and Zin, but they are not yet actual characters that I plan to develop. So these two are my newest at the moment.

Oldest OC - Auletta

Technically, the first character I ever rolled in SWTOR was smuggler, but I didn't keep her in any way, so it's Auletta. Although she looked slightly different and was assassin instead of sorcerer in the game (which doesn't fit her background), the core of her character remained the same.

Meanest OC - Jaria

It's a tough spot between some of my characters, but when others can be polite or maybe it's not their nature to be rude (they just do it for others reasons), Jaria is unapologetically mean to people almost all the time (only shutting up if it saves her skin or gives an advantage).

Softest OC - Shailla and Lorri

(there are actually two more but I wanted to keep it short)

They are just so kind and gentle, striving to do more good in this imperfect galaxy. I mean, there is a reason why Lorri is often considered the heart of her little found family.

Most aloof/standoffish OC - Xaele and Jaria

Xaele in general is pretty distant from the world and even her own actions, which fit well for agent's life. And Jaria is, honestly, pretty mistrusting, and after being separated from her sister, probably the only person she gave a Hutt about, Jaria couldn't form meaningful connections with other people, so she's a loner. Plus she's mostly interested in self-gain and money, and she doesn't care how she gets it.

Dumbest (affectionate) OC - Vintu

Well, there may be others, but no one radiates chaotic dumbass energy like Vintu (yeah, not even smugglers, though they are close). Just look at his dumb face.

Smartest OC - Auletta and Elixess

I would betray Auletta by not including her here. She is a quick learner, a schemer, always hungry for knowledge and information. She's very good at using all available knowledge and information to get the best out of her situation, whatever it might be (back in slavery, in Sith Academy, Dark Council, you name it). The only period when Auletta made kinda dumb decisions was around chapters 1 and 2 of Inquisitor storyline, mostly bc she was drunk on power and freedom, testing how far she can go. But when she failed to kill Thanaton for the second time, Auletta adapted and got the best out of it.

Elixess is similar in many ways, except she doesn't have the same malicious intent as Auletta and maybe not as nerdy. She is a quick thinker, which helps her talk her way out of most trouble and see possibilities for profit. Also, I just thought having a smuggler as one of the smartest characters is funny.

(actually, there are more characters who are on the same level, but I wanted to mention these two)

Horniest OC - Vintu and Jaria

Jaria just likes to flirt around and have one-night stands almost every time she visits a new place (Mako got tired of it real quick). Shame that bounty hunters don't have a lot of flirt options with NPCs other than companions. And Vintu... well, for my own sanity we have an agreement - he doesn't tell much about his private life, and I don't get to know much about it. Let's just say that when he's with Jaesa they are very active, and even after he's done with her, Vintu still hits on a lot of people.

OC you'd bang - none

I'm way too asexual for that.

OC you'd be best friends with - Raen and Alaine

Both of them are great friend material. Raen shares some of my interests (that weren't a bit of self-insert to begin with, no no), so she can tolerate a bit of infodumping about special interests from me. She's generally fun to be around, except for maybe when she's being chased by law enforcement or when she's sleeping. Plus we might have 'introvert adopted by an extrovert' dynamiс in a good way.

Alaine is someone I could trust to discuss a lot of complicated topics without being judged harshly. And she's a good person and a reliable friend in general, so great to have her as a friend. Alaine is more of "calls me out on my shit" friend, and Raen is more of "tags along with my shit" friend, and I definitely need both these types of friends.

What's the episode with Arthur? Spotless record? Who pushes a train from the wrong end like that?

When you're an engine in a story penned by a magazine or a TVS writer, it seems to be an occupational hazard...

Also, it's very timely you bring this up, as "Spotless Record" is just a retread of many tropes in "Percy, James and the Fruitful Day." Only with less brilliant and crisp lighting and boring-er music.

Except for the bits that are a retread of Emily's intro episode. And Harvey's intro episode. And Murdoch's intro episode, a little? That one might come after this one, though. I don't know and I can't be arsed to find out. Anyway, the formula seems to be:

Fat Controller must be on hand to Proclaim the new engine's identity

Glamor shot where the other engines are suitably impressed or unimpressed by their appearance

New Guy gets off on the wrong foot, not because there's anything wrong with them but because Our Old Friends all decide to be dumbasses and dicks for no particular reason which may even be in-character for them but it doesn't help the New Guy develop any personality of their own, let me tell ya

In other words, they are sorely lacking in the great variety of ways in which Awdry would introduce new characters.

So, on TTTEtwt there is a common "game" where people post a thread inviting others to share a picture of their OCs to be rated on a scale of 10.

This is the stupidest game ever?

The grading is usually a mixture of "how realistic is the basis for Sodor + is the basis overused (some people don't acknowledge this bit, though, and will give every Class 7 or 8-fucken-F a thumbs up) + is the color scheme Distinctive but not Gaudy." A lot of times people specify that you shouldn't even tell anything about your character—the grade is not for their personality or character arc, just their name, appearance, job, and basis.

To which I call BS, because Arthur, like several other TVS newbies, should score a 10/10 on this scale...

... but all this potential is sadly wasted.

Great characters are not about the specs... it's about what you do with them.

Give me Rev. Awdry with his "here is a new character, his basis is A Random Thing I Kitbashed To Entertain My Kids, i will explain away all inconsistencies by saying the Fat Man had him rebuilt, i named him after some rando, here is all the unrealistic work he is about to do," and you know what? They always slap. We love them all.

Anyway, a goody-two-shoes Ivatt 2MT brought in for goods work—the rare non-cheeky tank engine, and a foil to the rest—should have been a gift to all the show writers forevermore.

But not only did he get sent to T&F limbo, they couldn't even make his intro episode interesting.

It's hard to explain what is wrong with Season 7 episodes, but good Lord are they snoozers. Overall decent concepts, and gorgeous sets, but:

The storytelling is so dull. Everything is so pat. It's all tell, not enough show, and everything is an echo of something these characters have said or done before. (Don't tell us Thomas and Percy kept biffing the trucks because it was fun! Show us!! Make us FEEL how irresistibly fun it all was!)

Everything sounds like it was brainstormed in committee. There are individual episode writers, but it also sounds like everything they did was reviewed and edited by committee. (I mean IIRC someone like Abi Grant confirmed this was literally true, but I didn't need confirmation—the scripts all sound like the product of executive review.)

The newcomer is the only one saying something new or interesting, and if their name isn't Emily they're never going to get the spotlight again anyway, so who cares?

Hartshorne's music isn't all bad in its way, but it doesn't create the moments of suspense and humor that the OGs' did.

Maybe it's realistic? but it's still funny to me that Harvey shows up with the breakdown train. Evidently Arthur made such a mess that someone got on the telephone and said "we're gonna need a whole lotta cranes here."

The dialogue is so bad. Where is Paul Larson? He's the only one of these writers who had a good ear for it. "And to be mended again... just like friendships." Dude!!!! Even for a pushover, this is pretty damn pushover-y!

MAKE IT. A FUCKEN. ARC. End it on a down note! Let TFC get angry!! Let Arthur feel unhappy for the length of some transition music!!! Then devote a whole episode to Thomas making it up to him!!!!!! Don't just wrap everything up in 5 minutes, you fools!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, feel free to ignore this if you're not interested in my headcanons! I just wanted to post some little doodles about personal headcanons to help peeps understand doodles and writing from now on (and especially with requesting a number and characters so y'all have a feel of what characters I'm down for writing for ^^)!

Bug fam bug fam-

So basically, this is the fam I headcanon. Five dads co-parenting the six kids: Hunter the Hobo Dad, Mato The Dad, Grimm the Goth Dad, Tiso the Dumbass Dad and Quirrel the Nerd Dad. Tiso and Quirrel are dating.

The kids consist of: Hollow, Hornet, Bubble(Broken Vessel), Ghost, Grimmy(Grimmchild) and Odessa (yes, shes my own character fight me, also I’m gonna call her Bugdessa throughout because she’s actually an au version of my oc who’s original everything I have not shown-)

Every child has something that occupies them, comfort hobbies because of what they've been through. Hornet knits, Hollow paints (thanks to uncle Sheo), Bubble gardens, And Ghost, Grimmy and Bugdessa? They fight stuff/cause absolute chaos. They're not exactly the uh... safest of siblings-

I might as well add it here the age range of the kids? Personally I very much see Hornet as a teenager because she comes across - at least to me - as a teen that’s been trying so hard to grow up. Bubble is like an early teen - just turned that sort of thing. Ghost and Bugdessa are the same age and whilst Grimmy is the youngest - he and Bugdessa are basically twins.

I wanna talk about Hollow

Let me say, I don’t like Hollow being paired with Radiance at all. I see nothing but an abuser and a victim here and seeing them actually being nicely paired together makes me so uncomfortable, so simply don’t talk to me about them ever. No I don’t think you’re a bad person if you like it, simply keep it in your lane and out of mine. I find memes of them bickering funny but that’s the extent of it. Personally I don’t like any Hollow pairing (except oc x canon you guys are doing amazing mwah) - I see them as heavily aroace and that’s not even because they’re severely traumatised. I think they value platonic relationships at a much higher value than romantic and they simply don’t care for romance.

Hollow takes up painting as their main hobby thanks to uncle Sheo - they find it a much… healthier way to express their trauma and recovery than other methods they might’ve gained. They’re always encouraged to stop and think for a while about this pattern of their own thoughts and encouraged to not be the Hollow Knight PK and WL demanded of them. They can have thoughts. They can have feelings. It’s ok.

Hollow rarely gets phantom pains in their missing arm now. Having had it missing thanks to infection for so long - they’ve gotten to the timeframe where they’re used to it not being there anymore. What they’re not used to is normal life - they’ve never had a normal life. Simply existing for no higher purpose, living just to live, being under a normal persons roof and home. It’s all new and strange to them. What they also get most is nightmares. Lots of them. Given that the majority of their trauma is well - mentally and emotionally. They are often seen going back to painting when they get them - with these paintings often being hard to figure out and ‘messy’. Sheo encourages them to open up about these when they’re comfortable enough to - as talking it out and working through the trauma helps them more than bottling it up like they have always been doing.

Tiso, Cloth, Hive Knight, Tamer and Myla? Siblings. They do not care they are siblings now. Hurt Myla and you will be punted-

Actually I wanna develop this point more. These guys give off such strong sib energy to me it’s not even funny - like Tamer and Tiso were made to be the most chaotic adoptive siblings ever. Not rivalling Grimmy and Bugdessa. I like to think that through each other they help being out the best in each other, especially through rough times. Tamer being probably the one with the least issues because her Infection definetly damaged her psyche enough to where the true impact has been lost on her, being the most encouraging and optimistic one. Myla is strong, yes, but strong people sometimes just don’t wanna be fighters and it’s something I see for some reason. Anyway - she prefers to use her strength to dig for crystals, to move things out of the way, anything that isn’t fighting. So yeah the others are definetly the more fighty siblings and like to protect others - Cloth is the assigned pillow. I just think they’d be amazing siblings!!

Actually I’m explaining more about this sib dynamic. Especially when it comes to their all contrasting qualities and bringing it out with each other. It’s no secret the most emotionally open of the group would be Hive Knight and Myla - Cloth has a tendency to hide her unhappy emotions behind bravado whilst Tamer has always been a character not ashamed of her emotions but pretty ready to like - ignore help towards her in a sort of ‘if i die i die’ type of way? And Tiso is Tiso. I say this - because I think it’s really nice when characters help each other open up!! And I think Myla wanting to learn more about everyone’s interests and Hive Knight being a general sweetheart - would help the other three be a bit more… conscious of their well-being? The three are the ones most likely to throw their life on the line, with no regard for self preservation (well, Cloth has her moments to hiding for safety and her story is a lot more sad and I think her getting to realise that her friend wouldn’t want her to die just to join her is important). And also! One thing I always find myself thinking about with this group of adoptive siblings is like - they have a certain brand. They’re not fully chaotic together - but you can tell they’re a group that teases and messes with one another and then can immediatly go into being siblings that care in a moments notice. They all like participating in physical activity and exploring (Hive Knight would more have to be persuaded that it’ll be ok if he indulges every once in a while) so being this group of sibs that explores the place - finding whatever shiny rock there is, or brawl one can spar in, or people they can interact with as a unit - idk it’s nice. I think them as a unit compliments and contrasts each other enough to find a balance between all their strengths and flaws - and can help bring out the best in each other just like them with the rest of their relationships with other characters. I think them as a sib unit is important to them realising their own worth in a family dynamic as a sibling. I think they’re important :).

Yes that means paired with the ant fam I gave Tiso he’s got like 7 siblings what of it- I like large found fam what can I say?

More about the bug fam dads and kids:

The family has basically developed various forms of seperation anxiety. The siblings can hardly be apart without one other family member near them, the others can get anxious alone and Hollow especially can't really deal with being in a closed space alone. They all share a house or space to sleep in because of this seperation anxiety. Hunter is the only one who hasn't developed this and so is more than ok to head out alone, but it doesn't mean he doesn't miss the fam.

Vessels are always referred to with they/them pronouns, unless stated otherwise from the vessel themselves. Hollow uses he/him/they/them (Though they/them is the most used). Ghost is strictly they/them. Bubble is strictly they/them. Bugdessa uses she/her/they/them (though she/her is the most used).

Tiso has self esteem issues. Quirrel has spans of depressive thoughts and low motivation. Grimm sometimes blanks out and shuts off considering there's some shenanigans with the Nightmare Heart and no longer being a vessel. Hunter tries to stop being attatched to thing which just end up going nowhere. Mato tends to keeps his issues to himself and end up shoving all his feelings down. And the kids? Th-they have a lot of issues too-

Idk where else to put this but I’ve been developing nuerodivergent headcanons for characters now oop-

ADHD Tiso and Autistic Markoth my beloved. Listen i projected a lot of my own problems onto the moth i might as well just give him it.

Again - no idea where else to put this but it’s about all the bugs that aren’t from Hallownest

so yknow how in DND there’s a common language that everyone knows and each race has their own native language? Yeah so Hallownest used primarily the common language - since it was made to be a hub to many other bugs. Every foreigner to Hallownest is bilingual!

That does indeed include Tiso, Cloth, Xero, Cornifer, Iselda ect! They’re all at least bilingual! Ironically enough Quirrel is not fully multilingual yet - but he has picked up key phrases during his travels. He never sat in one place too long to fully learn the language.

Xero and Tiso are related. I go further into this at the bottom because oop! Ocs!

Monomon? More like Monomum-

Expanding on Monomum she and the other Dreamers are alive! Ghost didn't kill them but went straight to the pantheons instead. Monomon did wake up very confused-

Monomon, Herrah and Lurien stayed where they were for quite a while adjusting like Quirrel to being part of an old kingdom in this new environment. They’ve essentially, like Quirrel and survivors of Hallownest, jumped forward in time and are all fish out of water (bugs out of soil? heh that was bad) so they all are just like “tf”.

Herrah is like... the only mum they have. No I do not count the White Lady. I do not like her-

Markoth is Seer's son. Seer's partner died whilst Markoth was still a caterpillar and remained single ever since. Markoth adores his mother, but before he left the tribe for good (after losing his husband and most of the tribe to the infection) he and Seer argued badly. Their last words to each other was an argument - before after years of regret and wanting to reconcile with each other - they finally got to apologise to one another.

I’ll put it here since I change topics later

Characters that were put in any form of stasis don’t just suddenly age when they get out of it. They’re just… the same but they can age again. That would mean a lot more bugs in Hallownest like Sly and stuff would just suddenly get super old and die when the PK inflicted stasis is gone by the end of the game. I don’t think anyone understands the timeframe because it’s not clear in the slightest so it’s probably just better to think of general age brackets rather than try and figure out specific ages because headaches go brrrr.

Old Stag has been since the very peak of Hallownest, which to me is a long time ago. The fall of Hallownest to me was a gradual decline before it skyrocketed downwards. Old Stag is somehow still alive and I would hope he’s still alive by the time the game ends because again - when you leave a stasis your body doesn’t just catch up it just stops being frozen. He obviously entered his area of stasis, within Hallownest, as an old Stag. Poor guy.

Can I talk about Cloth x Bretta? I'm gonna ramble about Cloth x Bretta-

I just think they're a really compatible couple! Cloth is a lot of things Bretta likes: an honest, loyal, caring fighter who means well. I think Cloth would love Bretta's writing and craftsmanship with plushies and help Cloth with her confidence because Bretta would believe in her because she's Cloth! And Cloth helps Bretta realise that a partner isn't about a knight in shining armour - but someone who loves you for you. I just think they're neat and would make a really nice couple :)

So like.. Mato and Oro right-

They had a big argument. Massive one. It ended up with a fight that they both regret and split the family apart. Sheo tried his best to reconcile his brothers together to no avail and ended up being on his own. Mato is stubborn and doesn't want to apologise until he hears Oro apologise first and recognised his faults whilst Oro refuses to apologise out of guilt and previous anxieties catching up with him. It's only after Mato develops fam that he ends up being encouraged to make the trip to Oro and find some sort of reconciliation - which leads to the two having an awkward but sincere talk after years of not seeing each other. The three brothers end up making up in the end it just takes a while to get there

Oro hardcore judges Mato for living with how many other bugs-

Ah PK-

I always believed PK and WL cared. It's not excuse for the shit they've done though. They distanced themselves a lot from trying to get attached to Hollow and only WL was successful. They’re both such shitty people but they’re interesting. Their care goes as far as a god can care - the kingdom care more about keeping their legacy and kingdom than the citizens even if they did still care about the bugs around them. They can care and still make the most fucked decisions out of deluding themselves into thinking this is, in fact, the right way to go. I think if the circumstances were different they’d have just stayed as they were and would’ve raised kids alright, but that wasn’t ever going to happen in the Hollow Knight universe because yknow, Radiance kinda pissed about the whole dying and being forgotten thing.

They hold regrets but neither took any measures or true self relfection to atone for that. PK hide away and died. WL holed herself up as a very bare minimum effort - she isn’t really trying. She still encourages Ghost to simply replace Hollow and shittalks Grimmy and the Grimm Troupe as if she isn’t as bad as the Nightmare Heart. She cares about Hornet but I don’t believe they were ever close. Hornet didn’t want to be close to the Pale Beings especially when she learned about her true heritage nature - I think she would hold resentment for that. WL and PK might’ve cared about Hornet growing up to be strong and healthy - but that doesn’t mean Hornet has to care for them either. Her heart belongs to her mother Herrah, who sacrificed herself to try and protect a world for her daughter. That action alone makes up for more love than the words WL can offer. Besides, wasn’t there concept stuff of Hornet being raised hand in hand with the Hive or something like that? I think Vespa made a more surrogate mother than WL.

PK has clearly done so much shit and I don’t think I need to mention it. I just like it acknowledged WL is no angel either. I enjoy exploring them if they never made this decision to commit infanticide, but also exploring them as the gods who make morally fucked choices like they are clearly portrayed as. I don’t like them - not by a long shot. It’s why I barely draw or write them, but I still find them interesting af. ALSO WAIT HANG ON ADDING HERE WL IS CLEARLY EMOTIONALLY MANIPULATIVE. Why would such an immediately motherly life figure be nasty or exude power to get what she wants when she can just appeal to emotions instead. Of course she’s gonna say all the words people want to hear because that’s what they do. Sure I still think she holds regrets but she’s so nice is because well of course she would be - she can appeal and twist people’s emotions to view her in a better light. That’s why she’s not scrutinised as much in this fandom/jkjkjk.

I mean god PK must’ve cared about the lives of the citizens of Hallownest if he put his foot down to Soul Master’s fucked mindset. He’d rather sacrifice his own creations (his kids in this case) than the lives of the bugs. And it’s fucked up, yet I can see how a god can see that as both noble and a just plan. Did either of them like it? Probably not. They thought they had to make this fucked decision and instead of taking a retrospective the more it kept failing - they kept going because they’re nasty like that. All this being said - I still personally don’t like them. I can appreciate them as complex characters and dislike them all the same. They just go against my personal morality and yknow what that’s ok. If you’re fans of them - fantastic! I’m glad you can like them, just like the Radiance and others like them. Hell yeah. Just not for me personally :)

Xero was a loyal knight (well High Guard in my headcanons) and only really had a problem with him not really doing anything about the poor population. Xero's first priority as a knight was always the people. However when Infection started and Hollow was made that's when Xero was beginning to start to doubt PK, and even tried to reason with him (but was promtply told to stfu) This is why Xero got infected - he was higher in ranks and strong but not Five Knights to be noticed. PK didn't see that Xero was infected, vision only telling him a knight would 'betray' him and branded Xero a traitor.

I wanna also add. I wholeheartedly believe that if Xero knew about the void experiments - yes he would turn his nail against them without the infections influence. But how could Xero know? Afterall - they were damned experiments locked under the palace…

Also I just had a thought. Do moths seem to have an inherent way to detect a void being? Idk, I just thought about how Markoth was like - the only one outside of the bugs that knew about the vessel making to see that Ghost was ‘Darkness come to consume him’. Do moths, being direct descendants and worshippers of Radiance, have an inherit inbuilt knowledge of the darkness lying within void beings - yet they would still interact but just know what they could be capable of? It doesn’t really mean anything and I could be wrong but - I guess it would make a lil sense they could detect the dreamless void of darkness yknow… being created by the dream light god and all…

Oh lord I’m thinking about the void-

So like ok, the void is loud. Like it’s very loud - it’s vicious and lethal. The Void itself is not a quiet thing and in game that’s shown. Void beings can speak, or at the very least have a voice for noises - but vessels don’t. Why? Because all of Pale Kings creations - including the White Palace void constructs - were made to be silent - to have no voice. But other naturally spawning void beings? They at the very least have a voice - like the Collector! The Void has a bit of a hive mind, at the very least, the siblings don’t attack each other and seem to know that they’re siblings and not a threat. So why do they attack Ghost? Easy! Ghost got away, they don’t recognise Ghost until they unite the void completely under themselves.

Why do I talk about void having a voice? Well theres a lot of corpses that have void influence on them and the lighthouse guardian mentions the ‘sea calling them’ - and whilst the other dead might be just exposure to unconcentrated void - the guardian had been communicated with the void. So... I like to imagine that the deep void whispers, and hisses, wether it’s the dead siblings calling out for them to be freed or the void in general hissing out of pure volatileness.

I also mention it because it links to a headcanon of mine that the vessels can kind of speak. What I mean is, is that once the void has been truly united they can share a voice (which is entirely from the void itself, like a Void Voice-), that sounds gargled and horrifying and loud, that echoes from every alive vessel. This isn’t used often as most vessels are comfortable communicating via sign, or handwriting, or body language, but sometimes they shout with this shared voice. For example, Ghost could use the voice to scream “FUCK” and it’d be echoed by Bubble, Hollow and Bugdessa.

I use this headcanon mostly for memes but sometimes I write in a voice line as the vessels finding ways to try and communicate their feelings and thoughts and figuring out themselves.

Also also!! Focus attacks!! On vessels!! It’s different for each vessel! Hollow’s focus is the spherical aura around them that pops into smaller ones that deals damage, Ghost’s focus heals them, Bubbles focus is a sort of call for reinforcements to aid them and Bugdessa’s focus is void tendrils springing from the ground.

(Yes that means I’ll have to figure out for other vessels too 🤔)

Unrelated but I think void siblings as shades can still return to their shells if the shell itself is not beyond repair. Or the holes that would make the shade leak out have been plugged up. Eg: Bubble! Essentially their head can’t heal from being cracked open so they’ll always have to rely of Lifeblood to fill up that hole so their shade can stay in the shell. Void siblings do die to become a Shade but then it’s whether or not that Shade can return to its shell. Some are too damaged, some might be waiting for a chance to be ok once returning, and some probably don’t even think there’s a way out - so why try.

Tiso and Grimm tend to argue and bicker and tease each other, but never in the realms of actually upsetting the other. They're pretty contrasting characters but they do care a lot about each other. Only they're allowed to tease each other.

Ghosts can now interact with other alive creatures that do not wield the dream nail. Their essence is given a physical form until the weilder stops the activation or one ghost gets severely injured and scatters back into essence and into the dream nail. During this ability the dream nail can't be used for anything else, but can still allow the wielder to see ghosts unaffected by the physical form.

Ghosts given physical form cannot be too far from the bug wielding the dream nail or they will scatter into essence. They're also: cold to the touch, no heartbeat, don't need to eat(any food simply disintegrates since there's no nutrients needed). However they can become exhausted and require sleep and rest. They can still interact with the world and it's inhabitants once more.

Xero is Tiso’s dad. He has an older sister named Enelda (she’s great). Their parents are shitheads, and the colony society also isn’t the,, best. This one low-key obsesses over having the strongest warriors from everyone’s families and the Queen and her daughters are the strongest in the colony. Xero and Tiso are very importantly not native to Hallownest.

Ophelia is,,, also not good. A serial cheater who dated Xero for a short while before Xero found out and broke up with her and moved away to Hallownest to just escape it all - and Ophelia was just “Lmao bye” before whoops! Those are kids! Four of them. She abandoned them very shortly at Enelda (who had never trusted Ophelia from the start)

Whilst Xero went to marry Markoth (and then both tragically DIE rip) Tiso and his siblings grew up back home under their aunt and, unfortunately, their grandparents that perpetuate the toxic society. So much so Tiso has a huge inferiority complex and went to Hallownest to face the Collosseum to show he’s a great warrior too. We know how that goes.

Xero and Tiso only learn they’re father and son post-game and whilst Xero is already a ghost by then he still absolutely goes to being his dad. Xero is a simple man,, he wished he knew he had kids earlier to be a proper dad to them.

In other aus, Xero gets to raise his quad and Marmu (After marrying Markoth) but this is for Base HK. We have tragedies here.

Also yeah Ghost Markoth and Xero adopt Marmu in Base HK.

Last tv show I watched: I just finished rewatching The Umbrella Academy season 1 to get myself psyched for season 2. I also just finished watching the netflix mini series documentary ‘Unabomber: In his own words’ which was pretty good. And I am also currently binging The Office (US) and am just starting season 8.

Fav original character: So i am writing (admittedly mostly just in my head although a little less then a quarter has been written as a rough draft on a word doc) a rather length fantasy/vampire novel. Its part romance, part drama, part revenge fantasy, part anarchist vigilante revolution au and tbh part me just self projecting my trauma and dysfunctional life onto my characters... And whilst it likely will never see the light of day because of my lack of motivation to write the entire thing down and instead just reference it when i am day dreaming. I really vibe with the alternative universe as an escape from the real one i am living in and i have a vested interest in the characters i have created in it. And whilst there are numerous ocs from this that i have put an alarmingly long amount of time (literally years) into developing all of which i love and adore i do have two favourites. One named Taylor who is a gay 2946 year old idiot/himbo (vampire obviously). He is hot, sweet, kind, caring, funny, understanding, stubborn, the mum™️ friend, a romantic fool with a a hint of mummy issues and anger problems and a complete fucking allergy to guilt. And the other is his prodigy/person he turned vampire named Meredith. She is 354 year old hot mess and is kinda the opposite of him in that she is homicidal, manipulative, cunning, devious, fearless (almost to a fault), strong willed women. Who is very smart, has a strong/forward and somewhat off putting personality, low key a bit of a bitch but is very protective of those she loves and has good morals and the desire to right all wrongs even if through violent revenge if she sees fit. She is the leader of a criminal underworld revolution seeking to bring revenge and justice to the powerful and untouchable evils of the world. And he is her loyal side kick that lets her run the show as she is a natural born leader, but also works as a the voice of reason and logic to her. All the while having his own sub plot of being torn between chasing his love interest despite the danger it possesses. Or sacrificing his own desire for connection and love for fear of the consequences despite it meaning living a sad and eternally lonely life. Thats just a very brief summery of those two. They have a very close but complicated relationship with each other, like annoying siblings but imagine if you had to live with your siblings for centuries. And they all have there flaws (some more obvious then others) as well as dark, morbid and tragic histories but it makes them what the are today both the good, the bad and the downright problematic. And yeah i’d like to think one day i will write this out properly and others will read it and connect to or relate to these characters. Maybe love them, maybe hate them, maybe initially hate them, like is designed with Meredith, but come to truly love her once they begin to understand her and see her potential thats hidden under layers of ‘don’t fuck with me’. But until then they are my characters to play around with and build upon and thats exactly what i intend to do.

And then at my mums is her puppy Newfoundland Bentley (basically god combined a dumbass and a dog and made him) as well as my brothers turtle Pedro and my axolotl Voldemort (can’t fit his huge tank in my apartment so he stays with mum.)

OHHHHHH CROW I COULD GO ON ABOUT THEM FOR HOURS.

this post is SUPER FUCKING LONG so for the first time in my life im using a read more link.

I'm gonna start out with Will, who, a little fun fact, isn't actually named William! His full name is Willis Grossman. His parents thought it'd be funny. Will doesn't know his full name.

Here are some other fun facts about me and @functionentropy 's Will (along with other characters below) (he is also the one who has been making this entire creepypasta interp with me! Go check out their art or else /lh):

Will was born in the late 1800s early 1900s!

His parents were a lot like a Bonnie and Clyde duo, and they cared and loved for Will very, very much.

Will always looked up to Isaac! He wanted to be exactly like his grandpa when he grew up. Isaac was also a wonderful grandfather as well.

Will, on his 13th birthday, got Isaac's mask as a gift. When he got it, Isaac said to him: "keep it safe. It's a family heirloom.", Will uses that excuse as to why he still wears it to this day.

Speaking of Isaac, he's the underrealm equivalent to a tumblr sexyman. Everyone thinks he's hot shit, but that also goes for a lot of serial killers residing in the underrealm. Will unfortunately had to see his grandfather on magazine covers talking about the underrealm's HOTTEST NEW KILLER. He hates it.

Will ran away from home after Isaac died at around the age of 20 to 21, and considering he was a legal adult, his parents couldn't do much. They're still looking for him. (How, you may ask? Well, a little thing about the underrealm is that it stunts growth. You're essentially unable to die of old age down there. Think shitty immortality. His parents are looking for him, and they know he's in the underrealm- so that's how they are still around!)

Will had the worst time in the underrealm for the first few years he was down there. He wasn't immediately enrolled in the institution and he had a hard time holding down a job. Eventually he met Frankie! They live(d) in an apartment together. The first time Frankie met Will he thought he was Isaac and told his landlord and him HELL NO. Frankie does not like Isaac. Cue [will's offended gasp] and him saying he's his GRANDSON, and WHY IS HE ACTING LIKE ISAAC SUCKED? Cue Frankie making fun of him for being a grandpa's boy.

Frankie and Will had a bumpy relationship for a while. Will wasn't always a good person. Not really bad, just a fucking dumbass.

Here's stuff about Frankie!

Frankie's origin story is essentially the same in this interp. Except for the fact that Frankie very much HAD A PAST. (which. If u wanna know more........I would love to talk about it......but this is about CURRENT Frankie so if u wanna know more bro just pop up in my dms or send another ask im feeling wild tonight)

After Amy passed (which was NOT due in part to the operator in this universe. The operator just found her like that) he was found by Bell (prince beelzebub, ruler of the underrealm at that point). You should know Frankie wasn't always an adjusted and normal fuckin person. He was like a rabid dog for a good while there.

While Frankie was unhinged he fucking death rolled Daisy the first time they met. (Daisy is an oc! I'm willing to talk more about him if you want the deets. He's interesting :]) because of this Daisy is the only one allowed to openly make fun of Frankie. (Playfully, of course.)

Daisy and Bell both basically helped Frankie adjust to society.

Frankie is autistic! So is Will. And Isaac. All. Everyone. Everyone has autism. (Shhhh. i'm projecting.)

Frankie can see souls! He's a very good judge of character because of it. However Frankie doesn't know what he's seeing is people's souls.

Frankie goes specifically after bad people. He'll take jobs from bad people, but he'll kill them, too. He says "he's sending them back to where they belong".

Frankie was the first to really show Will killing isn't just something you do. It's more than that. Will had never really processed death and murder of his fellow man like that before. He has a hard time even processing people as people sometimes, outside those of whom he cares for. This is because of Isaac. Isaac taught Will that people are bad- all of them. And that killing them is preventing them from hurting others, even if they haven't yet.

Frankie is a good guy and honestly a softie deep down. He worries and cares for all those who are close to him, even if he doesn't act like it sometimes.

Frankie says Toby "kidnapped him" and "made him diseased". 1. Frankie can very much leave the household at any time and 2. Frankie is referring to the operator sickness. Speaking of that-

Frankie was dragged through the operator's own personal hell! (Aka the realm they reside in more often than not, aka the place that Tim gets tossed around in near the end of marble hornets.) Reason being was because he threatened Toby's life. The operator is very protective of Toby.

Speaking of that, someone else was around when Toby met Frankie...

ONTO LAUGHING JACK!

ohhh man. Oh man. Oh baby. This clown is FULL of illness. Alright. So let's start off simple:

Lj was of course, made for Isaac. That's still a consistency. What isn't is that lj was around Isaac for a lot longer than in the original story. They developed a very close bond over the years they knew eachother, but, all good things must come to an end.

Lj returned to his box when Isaac left for boarding school. However, unlike the original story....Isaac didn't really come back to open the box. In fact, the most Isaac did was...well, I'll wait to spill that for Isaac's part later.

However! Eventually the house got passed off to another family. Years, and it mean YEARS later someone found lj's box in the attic! They were an unfortunate casualty.

After this, lj went and hunted Isaac down. Cue gore filled murder scene.

Things to note: LJ feels HORRIBLE about what he did to Isaac. He regrets it everyday. He wishes he had never done that to him.

But, time skip a bit.. we're further in the future now. LJ has his carnival set up and hidden away in an empty spot in the forest. He eventually comes across a wandering spirit because of this. This wanderer just so happens to be Sally!

LJ takes her in and swears to protect her with his life. In a way, you could say he sees her as a chance of redemption.

Sally was a wandering spirit, meaning she never really was stuck to one spot in particular- also meaning she wasn't very strong. Because of this, LJ gave her some of his own angelic essence. This boosted Sally and essentially made her a poltergeist!

(Note: Sally doesn't know how she died. Also, none of the things in her og story happened to her in this one. Fuck mishimishi. All my homies hate mishimishi.)

A little while after this they actually meet Toby and Jeffery! But this is getting long and to explain THAT entire debacle would make it even longer. but again I fully invite you to send more asks or just straight up dm me if you wanna know!

Now, last, but certainly not least..

ISAAC GROSSMAN.

OH MAN. Isaac is a DOOZY. Just like LJ, this baby is chocked FULL of illnesses! *slaps the top of his head like the roof of a car* but also, fair warning here: im gonna be talking about some heavy stuff. Abuse, physical and mental, gore, just. Death in general. Cannibalism, and EXTREME MENTAL ILLNESS *loud airhorn* so if any of that stuff gets to you steer clear of this part!

Anyways, let's start out simple!

Isaac was born in victorian England.

Isaac's mother was terrible towards him. I'm talking mental and physical abuse. She was a horrible, horrible woman.

Isaac's father...he wasn't a good person either, but he didn't beat Isaac. Nor did he really mentally abuse him either. He just...let it happen. He didn't even hurt his mother like he did in the original story. Isaac's mother was just plain bad for no good reason.

Isaac was sort of. Born having mental illness. They didn't just develop for him due to the abuse he experienced, though they certainly DID make it worse. There were other mental issues he has now that developed due to the abuse, however.

LJ was quite literally a godsend for Isaac. Metaphorically and not Metaphorically. LJ made Isaac happy, gave him comfort, and was basically like the mom he never had.

that's why it was so hard on Isaac when he had to leave lj behind. For a while he even had hallucinations of lj while in boarding school (which only furthered his future belief that lj was a hallucination brought on by the need to cope).

Isaac's first technical "murder" you could say was at boarding school. He pushed a shitty teacher down the stairs when there was no one around and they died. It wasn't even premeditated- more like it just sort of..happened.

Eventually Isaac graduated. When he did, he promptly returned home and killed his parents, as you do. /s

Isaac killed his mom in a rather violent fashion in comparison to his father- he whiplashed her so hard she fucking died.

Not long after this Isaac started his..well. I guess you could call it career.

Basically you know what happens after that. human skin chair, yadda yadda yadda, underrealm's sexiest killer, you know the drill.

Isaac did more than the human skin chair though! In fact, he uh. He. He did a lot. He did. SO much. But that was because Isaac believed in not wasting any part of the body. Which means Isaac not only made human skin chairs, but he was an avid cannibal, as well. (Fun fact, this very much extended to Will's father, mother, and Will as well. Will didn't know they were eating human for a long time. He had to realize that on his own.)

Eventually, Isaac punched his ticket because of LJ. But..I'd be a liar to say he really died.

No, our wonderful boy Isaac didn't die. He became a ghoul. Which, by the way, only further fucked with Isaac mentally! He's so ill. Some other things happened which I won't say here because they're spoilers for the fanfic I'm working on (Oh yeah the hyperfixation is that bad, but if you wanna know, again, I fully invite you to ask), but basically Isaac eventually gets taxidermied by, drumroll please..TOBY!!!! yeah. Toby does taxidermy as a job. He invited a new type of it for taxidermying Isaac. It was to repay daisy for something he did for the group.

But to say, again, that THAT was Isaac's end, would be another lie! No no no. Isaac was alive during the entire process! The good news is that he's never looked better after he escaped daisy's house when it got exploded by Frankie. Which..that's uh..another story for another day. This post is already insanely long and I am NOT putting it in the main tags.

So yeah! Im absolutely crazy for these dudes and I love all of them. By the way if you couldn't guess before Frankie and Will very much get together and are so so gay. Another little thing: Isaac is gay too, he had a past relationship with a man by the name of Dr. Locklear! Locklear is French German and his accent shows it. They were very close but fell out because of Locklear being involved with the institution and...a certain foundation.

I'll leave it to you to ponder on that one.

Oc Master Post

Alright! I finally have all my ocs designed and written down! This is the official debut post for this oc blog! It’s really long (gotta go through 10 ocs lmao) so I’ll put a read more so it’s easier to scroll past. If your interested, please read and even ask me questions! I really want to interact with this fandom since everyone seems so nice and funny!

And yes, I did put grils instead of girls on purpose...I’m funny I swear

So I first want to say that my ocs are in an au, one which has NRC have female students (but still in low numbers) and an 8th dorm based on Captain Hook (making Ramshackle the 9th). Also Crowley is a tiny bit nicer to our mc in this au, mostly cause he’s basically her weird dad lol

There’s another addition to this au, but that’ll be addressed in my MC insert’s bio.

I’ll also list additional info that the text in the refs don’t address, including body types because I wanted my ocs to be diverse in that aspect.

Another thing, shipping. Oh great seven, shipping will be a free for all for me. I really like shipping. So any ship and every ship will be possible (as long as it’s not with Cheka or Ortho, cause no. Human Grim is fine, but he has to be in human form). With that in mind this blog will be very self-indulgent when it comes to shipping and such.

I didn’t know what outfit to put her in, since Ramshackle doesn’t have a dorm uniform, so I just put her in her pjs (which were provided by Crowley).

Charlotte (or Charlie as people call her) is usually quiet, especially when she first arrives in TW. But the more she’s comfortable around the people, the more she reveals her inner sass. She doesn’t want to admit it, but she’s as much as a dumbass as the ADeuce duo.

She’s also has albinism, but she used to constantly dye her hair into a more strawberry blonde so she wouldn’t get picked on by other kids. This condition also leads to her having to take many breaks during PE so she won’t burn.

She may like cats, but Grim really tests her fondness for them. But once it’s found out he can take a human form (and becomes more chill due to the amount of energy it takes to maintain said form) the two actually become the best of friends, which shocks the first year gang.

Whitney is what you expect from a rabbit, timid, nervous, shy, anxiety filled, and easily intimidated. At first. If you manage it anger her, suddenly you’ll be hit by both a Scottish war cry and a rabbit kick. When she’s angry, she’s a rage filled bunny who throws the most foul of curses. Her switches are rivaled to Deuce’s bad boy switch. And just like the boy, when she calms down she get’s very flustered.

She doesn’t talk to many people, as she hates attention. But after some she does become acquainted with the boys, almost on the line of friendship with each.

Kaya is seen as a tough no bs girl, many females admire how she can go woman-to-man with the Savanaclaw males. But actually she’s nothing but a goofball that loves to tend to baby animals and make cute things. She has a talent for making beautiful woven baskets and earrings. She helps Ruggie a lot whenever she sees him overun by errands.

She does have a tendency to nap anywhere and everywhere like Leona and Silver, but she apologizes sheepishly when woken up. Because of her napping habit, she tends to stay up late into the night.

Wendy is a very small moon jellyfish mermaid. She was home-schooled by her mother under the sea, while her father ran a business on land. She visited land often to see her father, fascinated by all neon lights shining in the city.

She’s very quiet, like she’s actually a selective mute. She doesn’t tend to hangout with people because she fears most don’t like her because of her selective muteness. Oddly enough though, she’s always seen with Floyd, to the bafflement of everyone. She finds the eels mannerisms amusing.

She loves to sing, but doesn’t want anyone but her secret singing buddy (Daria) to listen to her. Her voice is very high pitched, but soft that it’s almost hard to hear. She also loves baking, often seen helping Jade and Floyd with preparing the sugary foods and drinks Monstro Lounge offers.

Layla is like that one person who teases everyone and sees most as her friend. She uses both her height and pretty features to get a rise and fluster anyone. Her main victim is Jamil, much to his displeasure. She gets along great with Kalim, fueling his antics of carpet riding and shenanigans. But she does help Jamil in taking care of Kalim, often seeing the snake whisperer overworked.

She’s usually seen hanging out with Kaya and Whitney (with the rabbit being flustered by both of the taller females). She’s drawn to most in the Savanaclaw dorm, as she has the urge to pet their ears. She and Kaya are in the same class, so the two always buddy together, helping each other if needed.

Back home she comes from a line of exotic dancers, always entertaining other for money. With this in mind, she practices her dancing everyday. She hopes she can live up to the expectations her family has put on her. She’s not wealthy, but she’s not poor, so she doesn’t get too surpised over Kalim’s wealth. But she still does, especially when Kalim once offered to get her a tiger cub (she refused though).

Daria is another quiet and reserved girl, she’s not shy per say but she prefers people to approach her than the other way. She doesn’t particularly like that she was sorted into Pomefiore, cause all she wants to do is paint and sing. This leads her to grow close to Epel and anger Vil. She purposefully doesn’t do anything to her appearance, only brushing her hair as she hates tangles.

She tends to stay in a secret area with Wendy, singing with the fellow quiet girl. If not that then she’s doing artwork in her dorm room, ignoring anyone who dares to pull her away from her work. Often times this leads to both her and Vil having a glaring contest cause she didn’t sleep (”Too busy painting” she says.) or forgot to do her morning skincare routine.

Elina is the mom friend, always giving others affection and helping them when she can. Because of her affectionate self, she treats Ortho like her little brother. You’ll often see her playing with the boy, or in her room working on her prosthetics (with Idia helping). She loves making her limbs look non-human, but she has more human structure legs for school (as to not weird out her classmates too much). She’s made them since young, always improving and modernizing her limbs.

Because of a tragic accident, she has prosthetics for both legs and her left arm. And has trauma over car races or cars going over the speed limit. She never mentions her family around others, but it shows how much she cares for them. The same could be said for her friends.

Maria is basically the opposite of Lilia, while he looks young but acts maturely she looks mature but acts like a complete child. Most believe she’s staff before she has to explain that she’s a student. She’s not a brat (thank sevens) but she is very naive and innocent. This causes for her dorm mates to become somewhat protective if someone makes a pass on her (she never notices cause she thinks they’re just being nice).

She has a talent with designing clothes, no one can explain why. Many have approached her to pay for her designs, but she refuses. She says she much prefers to just make and gift her designs to anyone. When she’s working, it’s the most mature you’ll see her. Everyone she’s interacted with has at least one thing she’s made, whether they wanted it or not.

Jessie is the dorm leader of Bonäuber, a dorm based upon The Captain of the Seas, who is held almost as high regards as the Great Seven. She’s a very childish and extremely cocky girl. She always praises herself for being the best out of everyone, when in actuality she’s not the brightest. The only thing she is good at she is shooting a gun, loving a good hunt. She also has a child fascination for board games, so she often plays (and loses) with Azul and Idia.

Most don’t like her because she has a bad habit of stealing from anyone and everyone. This is because of her hard childhood, having to steal to survive with no family. The Savage Seas, and the isles among it, were tough on those with no wealth. It wasn’t until a kind pirate gifted saved her from a beating and gifted her a gold coin, her first coin. She now wears the coin on her neck and vows to become a pirate as great as The Captain, using her loot to make others who were in her shoes to have a good life. Because of her ambitions, she always goes for the rich when looting, Kalim being her main target. But because of how nice and generous he is, she gets flustered and runs away without a single coin. (It’s really cute ngl)

As a dorm leader she’s overly not strict, the most she can be is over how clean the dormitory is. Uniform isn’t strict as well, only forcing those in the dorm to wear the striped shirt, vest, belt, bandanna, and boots. Bottoms can be anything, and the corsets were optional. Most dorm members were interestingly mostly females, which confused many.

Their dorm building is a functioning pirate ship, usually docked on a deserted island. Occasionally the dorm will go on an adventure, since most are those who love the sea and can’t stay in one place.

Sammy (what Jessie calls her) is the vice dorm leader of Bonauber, she’s very mysterious and weird to most in the school. She’s always by the shorter girl’s side, and always takes care of her. She is a big enabler, sharing her ambitions with the leader. She’s very humble about her intelligence and abilities, often only giving praise to Jessie. She’s almost like a mother for the leader.

She’s secretly a crocodile that saved (and traumatized) Jessie when they were younger. As she saw the little girl run from an adult, causing the reptile to attack the adult. She didn’t know why, but at the time a sudden feeling of protecting for the girl took over. Ever since then the reptile was drawn towards the girl, almost obsessive. It wasn’t until she developed her unique magic that she stuck with the girl from childhood. Jessie never realized, as Sam is very keen on keeping the object of her affections(?) in the dark. If anyone threatens the two, Sam will open her eyes and glare with her slit pupils as scales appear faintly.

And that’s all of them! After posting this I’ll start working on two things.

1: cards, I want to draw cards for them as if they are canon characters. I’ll work on the school uniform cards first!

2: Grim’s human design, this one will be easier as he’ll just be a sketch.

obviously spoilers for entire danganronpa series under the cut, along with very specific character hate, a TINY dash of ship “hate” which should not be taken seriously, me being indifferent about characters you might like, and also me being fairly morbid. my opinions are all over the place! boy do i have a lot of them. some of them probably won’t be yours, because people can have opinions. all kinds of em! fascinating stuff. please oh please, let this post not somehow make someone start arguing with me because i didn’t put a thousand asterisks everywhere

1. Favourite game?

sdr2 is the best just like factually speaking

2. Favourite Protagonist?

i tried to answer this and my answers were “komaeda. wait he isn’t-- KIRIGIRI! wait no” so there’s that. i like all of them though

3. Favourite antagonistic character?

i assume this means the Rival characters right... i like komaeda and ouma. in my danganronpa rp server, i had my oc rob and also humiliate and cyberbully togami, and drew a squirtle on his stupid bald head because hagakure asked him to, so there’s that

if antagonistic also covers the characters who are murderers + masterminds/villains, then... ok gonna be real here? there’s only one character i am familiar with who i know i hate and it’s t*ruteru

entire sdr2 cast (except t*ruteru), most of the dr1 cast (hifumi is gross, i don’t honestly care either way about leon or sayaka, and for clarification i like togami as a character but dislike him as a person), most of the v3 cast (i haven’t actually played v3 yet and once i do it’s probably gonna be more like all of them or all of them except one. i do know the general plot and characters, it’s just that i get way more emotionally invested when i actually play the game)

7. Favourite class trial from all the games?

i have multiple favourites but because it was the first one i thought of, i’m gonna give kudos to the third trial in sdr2. it was especially interesting because the murderer seemed obvious if you only took in the basic facts, but when you know what kind of person mikan is, it seems completely preposterous that she’d do such a thing-- which makes the solving of it all the more DELICIOUS... oh it was so good i loved it... the whole time i kept searching and searching for any answer other than mikan and coming up with nothing, and knowing that, i knew that it had to be her, but i couldn’t fathom the why and that alone was enough to keep me in doubt for ages... the very end when she starts to break down eliminated my doubt but my questions of “why” only increased tenfold and it made it even MORE delectable i fucking LOVE puzzle’s and mystery’s

i am physically incapable of summoning empathy for t*ruteru even with his sad backstory. i hope they tossed him in another volcano after the dr3 anime was over

19. Who do you think is an underrated character?

i refuse to acknowledge the fandom for long enough to notice which characters are classified as underrated for the most part because i live in my own brain palace where i can love every character and that is all that matters. that being said, i think it is fairly obvious that hoshi from v3 is underrated just... factually speaking? people do not pay attention to him very much it seems but it also seems he is a good little man. i know little about him, but that is the technical definition of underrated, so that is my answer i guess

20. Who do you think is an overrated character?

again i don’t know if he even IS overrated in the fandom but i think leon is kinda boring. i don’t hate him or even dislike him necessarily because i don’t... care enough about his character for that... i could probably be influenced by someone who is passionate about him, but right now he’s just kind of existing

megumi ogata snatched me bald. megumi ogata didn’t even leave me with my scalp

shsl luck is a neat concept to play with, shsl adventurer is flat out aesthetically Pristine, shsl detective is fun, and shsl ??? is delicious and interesting even if it’s not a real title

my brother got me a monokuma plushie for my birthday and the first thing i did was choke it. also, monokuma is hilarious and i hate his slutty little ass but love to watch it go, which is the same opinion i have about dimple from mp100

the ones that make me laugh the most are celestia’s and (look i was very sad but i can explain) alter ego’s because ... when i see them i can’t stop thinking about two specific vines. celestia’s execution is funny on its own but when i think about this fucking vine it gets worse and HERE. LOOK. I LOVE ALTER EGO BUT THIS MAKES ME GO HAM

the most brutal and ultimately chilling? leon’s, by far. it was EXTREMELY well done and sets the tone for the game so well

the one i like because the character deserved it? gee i wonder if it might be t*ruteru’s just can’t tell

and then there is only one that fills me with a sort of mysterious, enigmatic emotion-- very strong, but indescribable and neither positive nor negative. junko’s. really, junko in general elicits this emotion from me, she’s very interesting. what an excellent villain

“What’s Love Got To Do With It?”

Characters: Dean, Chuck, Jo, Ellen, Bobby, Cas, Reader, Maggie (OC)

A/N: This is chapter twelve of an AU SPN Series co-written by myself and @pinknerdpanda entitled The Wedding Singer and is inspired by the movie. Track 12: “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”

Dean walked into the community center, and was amazed by the transformation it had gone through in the last couple of days. White lights had been strung across the ceiling, illuminating the round tables that had been set up around the dance floor. Each table had been covered with white linen tablecloths, then draped with flowing blue organza. In the center of each table, there was a mason jar filled with water and river rocks. Small twigs circled the jars, and the whole thing reminded Dean of a stream winding through the woods, rough against smooth, which he thought was fitting for Ellen and Bobby. He walked over to the stage and sat on the edge as he watched Jo hang a banner across the back wall. Chuck sat down his guitar and dropped down next to him.

“How are you doin’ today, champ?”

Dean shrugged, “Well, it’s been….two days since I last got punched in the face? So I guess I’m doing slightly better.”

Chuck looked over and noticed the now yellowing bruise along Dean’s jaw and grimaced, “Well, that’s good, I guess. Gonna tell me who dealt you that one?”

“If I said it was a certain woman engaged to be married, would that surprise you?” he asked as he leaned back on his palms.

Chuck sighed, “Dean, I thought you said you were going to leave it alone?”

Dean glared at him, “I did! She came to my house and punched me! I didn’t do a damn thing.”

Chuck raised an eyebrow, “You didn’t do anything? She just showed up at your house, unannounced, and punched the shit out of your face?”

Dean cleared his throat and avoided looking at his friend, “Well...I mean, I didn’t do anything to her. I might have broken her fiance’s nose because Cas and I saw him at a bar outside of town, flirting with the waitresses...and on a date with Lisa.”

Chuck had looked like he was going to admonish Dean for his life choices until it registered what Dean had said. “What?! You broke...he was...Lisa?!”

Dean grimaced and waved Chuck off, “Why don’t you shout it a little louder, I don’t think Jo heard you.”

Chuck smiled sheepishly and went back to watching Jo as he tried to process what he’d just heard. “If it makes you feel any better, I would have punched him too.”

Dean chuckled, “Thanks, that makes me feel loads better.” He glanced at Chuck, who had become quite enthralled with how Jo was reaching up to hang the other end of the banner, “Oh, this is a new development. Since when have you been pining over that one?”

“I haven’t been...no, I don’t like...that’s not what…” he trailed off and hung his head. “It’s not a thing. She just looks really nice today.”

Dean shrugged, “You aren’t wrong, I guess.” He paused as he tried to decide whether to involve Chuck, “...She hasn’t mentioned being mad at me, has she? I’ve been texting her the past two days. I think she’s dodging me, man.”

“I have no idea, she’s not said anything to me about it, but she’s been pretty busy with the party. I’m sure it’s nothing.” Chuck straightened up and smoothed out his shirt as Jo made her way towards them, her smile quickly turning into a scowl when Dean waved at her.

“Hey, Jo, how’s it-” Jo turned to look at Chuck, interrupting Dean to ask her own question.

“Are you busy right now, Chuck? I need some help carrying some stuff inside. I’d do it myself, but it’s a little heavy.”

“Uh, s-sure thing, I’m not busy.” Chuck jumped down from the stage just as Cas strolled over, his hands shoved in his pockets. He stopped just behind Chuck and watched as Jo looped her arm through Chuck’s.

“Alright, come on, then. See ya later, Cas.” She pulled Chuck away, and he looked over his shoulder and shrugged at Dean. After mouthing a quick I’m sorry, he disappeared through the door to the parking lot.

“What the hell was that all about? Did you see that? She just straight up ignored me,” Dean asked in confusion.

Cas leaned against the stage and crossed his arms, “Did you do something? Because it definitely looks like you did something.”

Dean threw up his hands, “No! I didn’t do anything, I just walked into the building. She’s been ignoring me for like two days, I haven’t even seen her to do anything wrong. What is up with everyone just assuming I did something?”

“I mean, here lately…” Cas said with a shrug as he pulled an apple from his coat pocket and bit into it.

“What’s that supposed to mean, here lately?”

Cas shrugged again, “You’ve had a rough time lately, Dean. It's understandable. I would’ve punched Ketch in the face too, I don’t blame you for that, but you're a little unpredictable right now, you know? Also, that bruise on your jaw is new, but I'll leave that alone.”

Dean hopped up on the stage and began finishing up what Chuck had left undone, “It’s not my fault people keep smacking me around. I should be the one smacking people around, I’m the one that got left at the altar…” Dean continued to mumble as he set up Charlie’s keyboard and Gabe’s drums.

“But that’s the point, isn’t it? You’re not the only one that has been left at the altar. And your choices can affect other people...like Chuck and the rest of the band could lose their jobs because you’re...well...drunk as hell all the time. Or Y/N...whose happiness could be affected by you kissing her out of left field.”

Dean slammed one of the music stands down and turned to glare at Cas, “Listen, it’s not like I planned for any of this, okay? I didn’t plan for Lisa to leave me at the altar, I didn’t plan on falling for some girl that just showed up out of nowhere-” he stopped as he realized what he’d just said out loud.

“Aaaaaand there it is,” Cas said quietly as he stared at a wide-eyed Dean.

“Shit.” Dean ran a hand across his five o’clock shadow, “What the hell am I going to do?” He looked up to see Ellen walking quickly towards him and smiled at her, “Hey, Ellen!”

She nodded curtly at him, “Dean.” She kept walking and Dean’s mouth dropped open.

“What the fu-” he was interrupted by an agitated looking Bobby.

“Boy, I don't know what you did, but you'd better damn well fix it.” Bobby stopped next to Cas and shoved his hands in his pockets, his eyes narrowed at Dean.

Dean threw his arms out, “I wish someone would freaking tell me what I did! Jo completely ignored me, now Ellen...I don't know what’s going on.”

“Well, you'd best be figurin’ it out. I ain't livin’ in my own home like I belong in the doghouse for something I didn't do.”

“Bobby!” Ellen’s voice echoed across the reception hall and Bobby grimaced.

“Get it together, son, I'm tellin’ ya. For all our sakes.” He hurried off to catch up with Ellen, and Dean glared at Cas, who was trying his best not to laugh.

“This isn't funny, Cas.”

Cas cleared his throat, “Of course not, not in the slightest.” He watched Jo cross the room and head towards the kitchen, “Why not talk to Jo? Maybe she can...umm...enlighten you?”

Dean sighed, “Fine. But I swear to God if someone else hits me in the face…” he trailed off as he trudged after her. He cautiously poked his head around the kitchen entrance and grimaced when she turned to face him, a knife in her hand.

“What, Dean?”

“Can we talk? Please?” She nodded curtly, knife still pointed in Dean’s direction. “Preferably without the knife, maybe?” She rolled her eyes and sat it down on the counter harder than she needed to. “Thank you,” he said as he stepped the rest of the way through the door and leaned against the wall, “Now, can you please tell me what’s going on? What’s up with the silent treatment?”

Rage crossed Jo’s face, and for the first time in his life, Dean found himself truly terrified of the woman. She took a step towards him, her hands in fists at her sides, “Are...you...fucking serious, Dean Winchester?!” Dean suddenly wished he hadn’t put the wall to his back, because now he had nowhere to go. “You are truly the most ignorant, stupid, selfish, sonofabitch-”

He held his hands up and shook his head, “Whoa, whoa, whoa...I’m not going to necessarily disagree with you, especially with everything that’s happened recently, but what the hell are you talking about? I haven’t even seen you in two days! I haven’t seen anyone in two days! Why are you so angry?”

Jo crossed her arms and glared, “Oh, you haven’t seen anyone in two days? Is that so? I guess one night stands wouldn’t count so I suppose you could technically say it was three days ago.”

Dean returned the glare, his confusion slowly turning into irritation, “What are you talking about? I didn’t have any…” he trailed off, realization sinking in. “Lisa….you’re talking about Lisa?”

“Of course I’m talking about Lisa, you dumbass!” Jo yelled, and Dean groaned.

“First of all, how did you even know about that? And second, nothing happened. After Y/N came over and sucker punched me, Lisa showed up drunk as shit. As per usual, she tried to apologize, which really just turned into a pity party for her.” He sighed and leaned back against the wall, relieved that Jo seemed to be lightening up...at least enough that she wasn’t going to punch him in the face. “She had somehow driven across town without getting pulled over, but I couldn’t let her leave like that, even if she is just a lying bitch. She slept on the couch, and I went downstairs and locked the door.”

Whatever reservations Jo had still been holding on to disappeared and she sighed in relief, “You cannot even begin to understand how excited I am that you didn’t sleep with Lisa. I could have killed you, Dean.”

“I mean, I guess that would have been fair. But how the hell did you find out? Sam and Jess weren’t even home, so I know she didn’t tell you.” Jo bit her lip and dropped her gaze to the floor. “Jo….who told you?”

“Umm... see, Y/N felt bad about how she’d treated you the other night and decided to...well, she wanted to apologize.”

Dean’s eyes widened, “No, please say she didn’t come over…”

Jo frowned, “Yea, about that...she kinda sorta ran into her...as she walked out.”

Dean turned around and punched the wall, “Dammit! I gotta find her, Jo! I have to tell her what happened, where is she?”

Jo looked at the clock, “She said she was going shopping today, but I haven’t been able to reach her. I think she let her phone die again.”

Dean whirled around and gave a surprised Jo a kiss on the forehead, “I gotta go, kid. Wish me luck.” He ran through the door, and Jo shook her head.

“Good luck.”

Dean parked the Impala and started walking down the street. There were only a few places that Y/N could actually end up in downtown Chapel Hill, so he had hoped his search wouldn’t take long. He shoved his hands in his pockets as he walked, his fingers toying with his phone. He’d tried calling Y/N, but she didn’t answer.

The idea of Y/N running into Lisa as she left the house left him feeling sick, and the fact that she thought that they had slept together...it was too much to even think about. Movement across the street caught his eye and he turned to look. He saw a woman standing in the window of a shop, and as he watched, he saw Y/N’s head pop out from behind a curtain. Relief filled him the moment he saw her; this was his chance. He stepped down from the curb and onto the street, meaning to cross over and catch her attention . As traffic cleared and he moved towards the store, Y/N stepped out from behind the curtain and Dean’s heart dropped.

Oh shit.

She was wearing a wedding dress, a beautiful lace gown dotted with shimmering beads that trailed down and flowed out behind her. Her long hair was swept up and away from her neck, tendrils hanging around her face as she smiled and said something to the first woman, who appeared to be helping her try on dresses. She turned, revealing a low back and pearl buttons trailing all the way down. Even from this distance, Dean’s heart ached at how perfect she looked, how happy. His mind went to what it would look like to see her walking down the aisle towards him, and his breath caught in his throat. It was too early to have thoughts like that, it was ridiculous, but God that’s what he wanted. All he wanted was her.

The joy he felt at seeing her like that quickly disappeared when he realized that she still planned on marrying Ketch. Everything he’d planned on saying to her disappeared, buried under his disappointment and embarrassment. Of course she was; she thought he was back with Lisa. He swallowed thickly, the lump in his throat threatening to choke him. He turned and quickly walked back the way he came before she could see him, his hands clenched tightly at his sides.

This had been a terrible idea.

“Oh, Y/N, it’s beautiful!” The sales associate, Maggie, said as she wiped a tear from her cheek, in awe of how beautiful her newest client looked.

Y/N forced a smile, looking in the mirror as she turned to look at the back of the dress. She reached up and traced the lace around the edge of her neckline, her fingertips trailing along the contrast of the textured fabric and the smooth beads. “Yea, it is... “

Maggie’s smile slowly turned into a frown as she realized something was wrong, “What is it, sweetie? It’s gorgeous, this is the one, right?”

Y/N sighed, “Maybe if I were getting married to someone else.” She ran her hands down her ribs and let them rest on her hips as she looked at herself and wondered what she had gotten herself into.

Maggie’s brows furrowed in confusion, “What do you mean?”

“It just...it’s not what Ketch had in mind. He’s very...simple. Elegant, but modern. You know-”

“Boring? Plain?” Maggie interrupted. “I know that this is also his wedding, but honey...that’s the dress. Tell me I’m wrong and I’ll drop it.”

“I do love it...but like you said, it’s also Ketch’s wedding.” She turned so that Maggie could unbutton her, “A little help please? I’d like to try that other dress on.”

Maggie’s eyes traveled to the other one hanging on the rack, a beautiful but simple off white satin gown, and sighed as she began to unbutton, “Are you sure, Y/N? That dress is pretty but it’s not...it’s not you. Come on, you don’t think Ketch would think you’re beautiful in this one? It’s perfect, and I don’t think his opinion really matters for this-”

“His opinion does matter. He’s also paying for it, so I think the man should get some say in it,” Y/N mumbled, not convincing Maggie or herself.

Maggie took a deep breath and decided to push her luck, “Do you think anyone else would want you to base your choice off of who’s paying for what? Seriously, Y/N, think about what you just said-”

Y/N spun around to face Maggie, her expression angry, “He clearly made his choice, and this one is mine.”

“Who made his choice? I was just pointing out a hypothetical person-”

“And that's another thing, that's not your job! Your job,” she interrupted as she pulled the dress off, stumbling as she tried to avoid asking for assistance, and tossed it to the flabbergasted sales clerk, “is to help me pick out the dress I want, and that will work for my wedding. This isn’t up for discussion. I am not marrying Dean, I am marrying Ketch. I barely know Dean, and honestly, I think it would be best for both of us if we didn’t.”

“Wait, Dean...Dean Winchester? Honey, if you've got a thing for him, I'd suggest-”

She yanked her jeans on, then dragged her shirt over her head, her arms getting caught in the neck hole as she twisted it the wrong way. After a moment of struggling, she finally fixed it, and breathing heavily, grabbed her jacket and her purse. “I don't really care what you'd suggest. My suggestion to you would be to mind your own damn business, and stick with selling wedding dresses. But not to me, not today.” She stormed out of the store, leaving a shocked Maggie in her wake.

Y/N breathed in the cool air after leaving the store, closing her eyes as the feeling of being trapped slowly slipped away. She was making the right choice, but every time someone mentioned Dean, her heart and her mind began arguing with each other.

“Doesn’t matter...he’s with Lisa. He’s back with Lisa. Maybe Ellen was wrong...maybe Dean just overreacted,” she mumbled to herself. It didn’t matter; she would be marrying Ketch and Dean could...well, he could do whatever he wanted. She paused as the bright light of the coffee shop caught her eye and she changed course. The comforting smell of mocha and fresh baked pastries wafted over her and she took a deep breath, closing her eyes as she took a moment to enjoy it. She joined the line and stared at the menu, contemplating what combination of coffee and sweet treat she wanted.

She heard the bell behind her ring as the door opened, but she ignored it, giving the barista her order. She paid, and waited patiently with pastry in hand for the ridiculously named drink she’d just ordered. She smiled as the person behind the counter handed it to her and turned to walk out...and directly into someone. The lid popped off her coffee and it spilled down her front, soaking her. She hissed as the hot liquid scorched her through her thin shirt, mumbling obscenities as she tried to keep her grip on the cup and the pastry. She looked up and her eyes locked with familiar emerald ones.

“Y/N…”

“No!” She yelled, causing Dean to flinch away from her, and several coffee shop patrons turned to see what the fuss was about. “Not today, Dean! All I wanted was a moment to myself, and I can’t even get that. Do not talk to me, okay?” She pushed past him, and he reached out to touch her elbow. The glare she sent his way when she turned back to face him caused him to drop his arm. “Just...don’t,” she hissed, then turned and pushed her way through the crowd and out the door.

Dean sighed, then looked around at the people still staring. “What? Just eat your damn muffins and quit staring. Jesus.” He slipped through the crowd and out onto the sidewalk in time to see Y/N disappear around the corner.

Son of a bitch.

Just an idea popped out from Drawpile

Warning: I might make a lot of mistakes in this post bc why not so this is it. Oh, plus harsh language too (as usual i guess).

Okay okay, so, I was drawing on drawpile with peeps and something HAPPENED (greatest introduction ever)

May I introduce you to... GoreSans!!!

Let me explain you what he would be if I happened to make an AU around the thing. Well, I DON’T intend to do many things about it so I wouldn’t call it an AU but since I can’t let a character like him with no proper environment to set him in I can’t let you without developping the idea a bit further.

It’s basically a coherent and logical mix between Underlust and Horrortale.

Now those who know what I’m talking about will think I consider them like dumbass, but I’ll develop the idea anyway and that needs a quick reminder of what those two AUs are (don’t blame me for my unecessary rigor):

Underlust. Well, I’d davise you to go check UnderLust Shame Cave, unless you’re under 18 and/or allergic to NSFW. WOW STOP ASKING YOURSELF I won’t make anything NSFW here don’t worry. I’ll try my best to soften everything for it to be accessible to anyone who might be reading this. If you feel offended despite my efforts, say it (politely) in the ask box and I’ll change the tags^^

Now I haven’t read UnderLust very much and I don’t know what occured since a long time, but here’s a quick summary of what I know :

First, it may be NSFW, but the comic has real depht and emotions. There are reasons to WHY THE FUCK EVERYONE FUCKS and that makes this AU completely acceptable to me. Now, the reasons are Gaster and the decrease of fertility due to... well, imprisonment in the underground and chronic lack of hope I guess. Gaster intended to fix the fertility problem by extracting the Lust from the soul of the first human, Chara, who was a... sort of... sadistic bitch? Anyways. Injecting the Lust into (adult) monsters had two consequences: relatively NOT FIX the fertility problem making the children the last ganaration, and turn any adult monster into a slut.

Yeah that definitely legimimates the NSFW for me. Not that it needs any legitimation anyway XD because the comic that came (pun?) out of it is about true love VS lust, sexual identity, abuse and all the emotional mess that comes out of it (hehe da inententional pun lol). So it is surpisingly interesting and kinda moving.

Horrortale. This AU is particular because it is settled in the FUTURE of one of the neutral run. Now, any sensible undertale player WOULDN’T want to have to face the consequences of any run that didn’t ended peacefully, would they?... uh, guess I would at some point...

Anyways, that makes the Horrortale AU really interesting because it just puts some canon facts together and think of how it would evolve with time.

Let’s observe some of said facts:

Toriel attempting to legally take the power and ease everyone’s pain with peace.

Oh! Your acts have consequences!^^ Peace isn’t an option now.

Putsch.

Crusader, surely future tyran.

Sans and Papyrus tempering the current crusader future tyran.

Bros will be bros.

... Click! (Am I the only one that saw a sort of threat in his last word..?)

SO Undyne putsched Toriel out (it’s definitely a coup since Undyne is the equivalent of the General of the Army) and now rules over the Underground with an iron fist in order to develop drastically the army for her to wage a holy war against humanity, implying she will do everything for her army to be well fed above citizens. Mh.

If she’s not going to become a tyran, I dunno.

Now I’m leaving canon facts to start about horror tale context:

To summary, the underground has turned into a sort of dystopic HELL OF A BLOODY MESS since the common monsters who didn’t contributed to Undyne’s army were left starving and had to rely on the only edible things they had on hand: other monsters.

Now feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I can remember, this is what turned monsters into... well, dangerous monsters.

SO, now, what would a mix between the two look like? Let’s finally talk about GoreTale!! (okay well I said I wouldn’t make an AU, BUT if this can inspire anyone to develop it into a proper one THAT’D BE FUCKIN COOL OMFG)

So it is set in the future of one particular run of UnderLust if this AU were to be adapted into an Undertale-like video game; Asgore is dead and the other souls disappeared, leaving the monsters behind with grief and despare. At least one monster has been killed by Frisk so that Undyne, Head of the Royal Harem (this is how it is in underlust DON’T ASK ME) decides to rule over the underground with fierce will to destroy all human kind. Because she knows nothing else, she turns the underground into a bloody brothel since she considers people had to surrender their mind, soul AND bodies to her royal persona and cause, plus she being blood thirsty after human’s decay, she does it overly sadistical and strong. Sans tried to temper her at first since his brother was now part of the official Royal Harem and feared for his safety, but she slowly became unreasonable. A bloody tyran, unrelenting and craving for physical and mental/moral abuse.

So Sans gave up on her, even though she was his queen, and left the capital with his brother. His confrontation against her left its mark on his skull, revealing a new aspect of this character: he no longer has only 1HP since he got some new LV by abusing and killing other monster for self-defense and his own need for food and relief. So the head blow didn’t kill him (and I don’t think it should have since Undyne surely must have wanted to keep him locked up somewhere she could torture him in order to mindfuck his personnality..?). Anyways, he must have scared her (or at least surprise her enough for her to let him go with his bro). They returned to Snowdin, and made an agreement with the Queen so that she doesn’t hunt them down: they guard Snowdin and bring her any human that comes by (since they are two of the rare monster that can live under harsh cold weather and that Undyne hates it, it makes sense, besides she doesn’t have to fear Sans and Papyrus’s ambitions to steal human souls from her bc they only intend to survive by their own, away from any form of control over them). And for the other snowdin inhabitants and soldiers she could send to Snowdin instead of potential / official trators, we can state that they are either loyal to the crown in some extreme ways but temper their wrath and lust around the skelebros bc they would surely bone them to death, making the boney bros kinda the chiefs in snowdin, or they are refugees that flee the Queen’s command and sought for protection of the weather and the skelebros, OR they all dead bc skelebros ate them up in all ways.

SO Goretale wouldn’t be the best life place to settle. Horrortale and Underlust aren’t either, but the mix between the two must be even more sordid and glaucous and bloody and slutty at some point and completely infernal. I could see an H.R Giger style for the environment that possibly evolved with the monsters, but with more colours. If you don’t see what I’m talking about, go check by yourselves; the first images must be eloquent enough.

Okay just one example that has no hidden nsfw:

Frogman - Giger meets Escher. imagine it with some red and gold and that’d be totally fit (or not. I don’t care.) I advise you to see more by searching HR Giger.

Warning: it’s art in the “noble” way, but it’s still definitely NSFW AND sordid as heck. So unless your innocence is so extreme you are immuned to sin or you love that kind of thing or you are appealed by some artistical curiosity, keep out!^^ (H.R Giger is a german artist that designed lots of great things including the Aliens of... Aliens. So it’s real good culture and you can check it out without any sinful interest other than artistical curiosity. You’re welcome.)

NOW THE REAL THING (finally. Why the fluff are my summaries always so long?!?)

You know that drawpile allows people to draw at the same time on the same canvas (I feel like I’m repeating myself). Well, tht’s great and it allows things like that to pop out:

It encourages me a lot to practice and catch the level! And it is really lots of fun to do^^ Oh My Gnarls Frisk is SOOO adorable they manage to move and disconcert GoreSans! And it shows a nice and somewhat cute part of him I surely would never have thought of if I didn’t draw with them ;) (oh well, after all, in this crazy fandom people see cuteness anywhere, even in the most unsettling places, so OF COURSE GoreSans is also a Teddy Bear lmao)

Thoughts on MLP The Movie: Unpopular Opinion Edition

(I made a small post about this a few weeks ago, closer to when the movie premiered, but now that the hype has kind of fizzled out I thought I’d take the time to fuss more in-depth.)

So... I really thought the MLP movie was bad. Terrible. I had sooo many problems with it, so where do I start?

Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD!!

My two biggest complaints are:

1) The movie didn’t hold up in terms of quality-- nevermind MLP expectations, it was just a bad movie in general.

2) Target demographic was noticeably shifted (downwards), especially when compared to the show.

Let me start by saying I’m not at all notorious even among friends for being this grouchy, self-elevated, overreaching entertainment critic/analyst. I can enjoy most things at face value, ie. MLP. I despise fanaticism (not fandom, fanaticism), and I’m long past the mindset that if I like something, I have to be blindly uncritical of it.

Please also note that I have not read the movie prequels or supporting media, and I went into this movie with only limited knowledge of those materials.

*deep breath*

(1) So, starting from the top: “It was just a bad movie in general.”

Visually, the movie barely held up for me. Anyone who’s even had a basic flash animation class knows about this thing called ‘motion tweening:’ it’s an optimized process for creating movement, with which you can set a path for objects to move and deform as opposed to painstakingly animating each frame one by one. It’s a much quicker process, but the (immediate) result often looks way more mechanical than its traditional counterpart and can often come off as... soulless, or even lazy. It was unbelievably easy to notice this throughout the movie and it was a huge distraction for me.

As a side note, I was never really on board with the ToonBoom style from the get-go; I eventually got used to it, but I was never able to totally immerse myself in it-- the whole tweening thing just cemented my dislike for it.

Continuing my comments on style, the new character designs were interesting, but... so many of them felt too disconnected from established MLP universe conventions. In fact, the only ones I could only get on board with were the hippogriffs (with a preference towards their seapony forms). My biggest problem with them has to lay in the fact that nearly all of the new characters-- background and supporting-- were bipedal, when in-show nearly every new race introduced has been on all fours like our titular ponies... and to add insult to injury, so many of them had hands! Their designs just felt too distant for me to connect that they live in the same world as our pony heroes.

Note: I realize most of these creatures inhabit lands self-defined by Celestia to be ‘beyond Equestria,’ but that doesn’t dismiss that they still felt like they belonged in a movie not prefaced with ponies.

(Tempest is a little different. She was visually darker than most ponies than we’re used to seeing, and to the surprise of nobody the poster child for edgy pony OCs, complete with the perfect voice. Unfortunately, her intimidating demeanor was sometimes too much for me, as it’s much more *effectively* threatening than what we’re used to seeing in-show-- the closest being the Shadow Pony in the S7 finale.)

On a more positive note, I really enjoyed the new environments. Just the fact that we had new locations to begin with was endearing already, but unlike a lot of the other stuff (see above) they were on par with what I was expecting from MLP on the big screen. I seriously think the environments had more character/place in the MLP universe than most of the (we’ll call them NPCs) NPCs that occupied them.

Speaking of character, I can forego most of what I’ve talked about above in lieu of a good story (spoilers: the story wasn’t even all that fresh, it was predictable and full of classic kid’s movies tropes). What I can’t ignore is blatant out-of-character writing.

“But Salt Mom, if you hate out-of-character writing, why are you still watching the show post-season five?” -Most Starlight Glimmer Opposition

As I mentioned at the start, I still enjoy the show at face value. We’re seven seasons in; our beloved ponies have seen some noticeable character development over the years, which is what some people (perhaps those ruled by nostalgia for the earlier feel of the show) like to label ‘out-of-character writing.’ But the changes are justified by their development, which is why I don’t see it that way. The movie, however, seems to completely forego character development and reduces them to (at times, vapid) caricatures of themselves and the out of character writing is now completely obvious to someone like me who doesn’t typically enjoy ponies through heavy analysis.

Pinkie was by far the most glaring. Pinkie is already one of my least favorite ponies, so maybe I’m biased here, but she was for the most part written as comic relief. She wasn’t a pony Grubber-- she did play the part of ‘voice of reason’ in the climax with Twilight-- but she had an irritating tendency to completely downplay the seriousness of their situation, as they all did (she was just the most obvious, second being tied between Dash and Rarity). Since when have they all been so naive? Except for Twilight, all our heroes had minimal speaking roles (and even more damning, speaking roles with substance), most notably Fluttershy.

Other problems included the princesses (once again) being victims of weak writing-- they’ve been proven to be capable of putting up more of a fight than we were shown, jeez!-- for the sake of putting the Mane 6 in the spotlight, probably something some people would call ‘forced progression’ (related: bad pacing).

... Which leads into the movie’s general issue with logic.

OH BOY. I had so many issues with the movie logic. As mentioned before... the ponies’ general naivety, their blatant disregard for the grim nature of their situation... Capper betrays them, doesn’t explain his reasons, doesn’t get a proper chance to apologize, and our ponies are totally cool with him by the falling action sequence of the movie? Celaeno’s crew (and similarly, the seaponies) is swayed into changing allegiances with a simple, three-minute song? The Mane 6 add six or so characters to their posse and suddenly it’s possible to take back Canterlot, after being overwhelmed so easily in the beginning, when the princesses weren’t yet turned to stone? Really? How could Tempest-- a pony who comes off as smarter than the rest-- be so desperate to have her horn back that she couldn’t foresee the Storm King’s betrayal?

*angry flailing motions*

In summary: the animation was mechanical, character designs suffered from a serious disconnect with established MLP canon, and everything from logic to pacing to character behavior suffered from bad, trope-y writing.

(2) “The movie demographic was shifted noticeably.”

(A lot of what I’ve addressed above can also be applied to this section of grievances.)

Very few times have I watched anything in general and walked away feeling like a real dumbass. This was one of those times. Everything from the humor, the songs, the logic (see above)... it all came together to make me feel dumbed down and like a huge moron for even buying a ticket. Overall, it was extremely apparent to me that they’d knocked the target demographic down a few years, and that the movie was made with younger kids-- rather than families as a whole-- in mind.

The brand of ‘humor’ (I use that term loosely) employed by the movie has to be the cringiest one in the book. It was clear that it was the most vanilla one they could have gotten away with and I found myself rolling my eyes a lot because honestly, none of it was funny at all. Grubber was purely on the screen for comic relief (we literally don’t see him again after the finale); Pinkie’s naivety was obviously supposed to be funny, as were Rarity’s trademark dramaticisms-- They got close sometimes to pulling a laugh, but then it just... fell short and wound up feeling more pathetic and forced than anything. Was it even humorous to the kids?

I laughed literally once during the entire movie, and that was at a very transparent marketing joke (perhaps not deliberate) made towards the beginning, after the Mane 6 fall from Canterlot and band together to decide how to proceed. They end up saying something to the effect of “hungry, hungry, hippos” as they’re brainstorming and I chuckled because... Hungry Hungry Hippos is also a Hasbro property.

I thought I might be able to find solace in some of the songs-- I’d heard SIA’s contribution in the days leading up to the movie and thoughts it was a decent tune-- but alas... They turned out to be completely vapid, with the sole exception of Tempest’s song. Compared to the extensive library of songs we’ve gotten in the show, the lyrics and melodies we got in the movie were neither clever nor catchy (I recall thinking that rhyming schemes were nearly non-existent) and I found myself waiting with bated breath until they were over. “Time to be awesome?” Blegh. Completely forgettable.

IDK. Maybe I need to see the movie again to confirm my position with it; after all, I had already decided I didn’t really like it before the end of the first act. For the better part of a year I couldn’t get away from the hype surrounding MLP The Movie, but when I finally saw it it didn’t deliver on the same level and ended up being a huge let-down. It was lacking in a lot of things standard to its TV-counterpart, including what makes the in-show universe so appealing (lore, memorable songs, and magic), and if they end up putting out a sequel I hope it can bounce back in the same way EQG2 built on the shortcomings of its predecessor.

(Bonus) Things I would have liked to see: an entire pirate fleet (instead of a single crew); more Capper and time spent in Klugetown; more Storm King and the land he comes from; the hippogriffs actually doing something (isn’t Queen Novo supposed to be friends with Celestia?) to contribute to the finale, even if it was them swooping in just before the final fight.
