Do the batfamily members ever get too into their undercover work? (Undercover in an office and theyre worried about spreadsheets, working in a warehouse and coming home complaining about missing parts)

Bruce: Status updates on your undercover missions. Dick, you first. What have you got down at the docks?

Dick: I haven't confirmed the Killer Croc sightings yet, but more importantly, our catch hasn't been measuring up to last year's. Tuna we're doing okay on, but the salmon population seems to be on the low end. I've contacted the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries but it'll be another 3-5 business days before they can come down and check it out.

Bruce: At least you're doing something to help. Jason?

Jason: Class was okay. I think the kids are warming up to me as their substitute while Mrs. Maloney is out on maternity leave. The average on the last vocabulary quiz was 83.53% so either I'm doing my job right or they need to be challenged. I'm worried about Tristan Lancy, though. He's normally a good student but his grades have been dropping recently and his parents don't seem like safe people to tell. I'll talk to him tomorrow and try to pair him up with a peer tutor if he needs it.

Bruce: Also see if he has any alternate contacts besides his parents. Tim, any updates at the chemical plant?

Tim: If by updates you mean OSHA violations, I could go on all week. We got a batch of new recruits today and they were just thrown into the work—no PPE, no safety training, nothing. This is what happens when you place production over employee well-being. I'm gonna file a complaint after this meeting. Also, I think the union will have something to say about the manager cutting people's lunch breaks short.

Bruce: I see. Damian? Please tell me you found something volunteering at the zoo.

Damian: Depends on how you define "found." While I have not obtained evidence of a mutant larvae black market, I did help some of the animals at the sanctuary make progress with their recovery. Bobo the monkey is healing from his broken arms and we're gradually getting him re-acclimated to climbing higher surfaces. Suzie the black bear was born a little prematurely but seems to be catching up to her peers in terms of growth. Lastly, we got a grant for additional wildcat research and enrichment. As an aside, we are having an educational seminar on European mountain goats this Friday at 3:30 and I expect all of you to be there.

Bruce: I'll put that on our calendars. Steph?

Steph: It's not really undercover work for me, just work. Anyway, yes the newest Batburger location is being used for money laundering. But I really need to vent about the customers for a sec. We don't open until 10 and at 9:30 this morning some moron was banging on our door demanding Jokerized cheese fries. Then right in the middle of the lunch rush, Janie got sick so I had to fill in as the cashier and it was hell. After that, I had to step in between a fight at the drive-thru because the customer claimed we only gave him nine pieces of his ten-piece Robin nuggets and tried to beat up the kid who took his order. And to top it all off, an entire high school hockey team came in five minutes before closing.

Bruce: Cass?

Cass, blowing balloons: Can't talk. Arranging bat mitzvah.

Bruce: Duke, you're my last hope.

Duke: Margie's bringing a peanut butter chocolate cake to the bake sale. I swiped her recipe and we can easily beat her. Her ganache is way too watery and just runs off the top of the cake, which isn't even leveled. She's also trying to do something with a raspberry filling that isn't working at all. It's like she couldn't decide on what to bring. The bake sale committee also asked if we can bring some apple pies because the original baker has to go out of town for a family emergency. I think we'll win if we bring them with some ice cream and a touch of caramel, even though this isn't a contest.

Bruce: Thank you. At least our most critical case has been taken care of.

Barbara: ...I'll save my book launch for later.

alright since RGG seems bent on putting merch behind things like UFO catcher shit, here's my crappy how to use a proxy guide lol

gonna be using buyee as an example but most proxies are more or less the same so it's your choice on what to use. I look at fee prices and customer service reviews to decide on my proxies. sorry if it's wordy! but I think I cover the most important bits for general use.

so on the landing page you got all the goobly gook but what you'll mainly be looking at is the stuff in the red box. all the shops are listed there - the ones I mainly use are yahoo! japan auctions and mercari. the other shops are more like regular shopping sites. pretty much all proxies use the same sites as they're just a directory for wherever you wanna shop.

auctions are self explanatory - you bid on things till the time runs out or some auctions offer an immediate buyout price.

mercari is largely a secondhand seller marketplace but you can find companies on there as well.

when I search for stuff, I prefer putting in the actual terms for better accuracy over auto translating. so here I put in ryu ga gotoku (龍が如く). on buyee, I have rgg and dead souls as saved searches so I can just click on them to easily autofill the search bar which is handy.

items will populate and you'll see prices in yen and for me, usd. these are the *listing prices, not the *final price. since I'm using a proxy, there will be additional fees per item I get. also, the currency exchange rate occasionally changes so if something goes up or down in price, that be why.

💥 pls also note prohibited items that proxies cannot ship internationally such as items with flammable fluid which can include perfumes, lighters, etc. other things like alcohol, which may be okay for like 99% of countries is not okay, for example, in the US lol unless you go thru customs paperwork n shit. *ebay is usually where you want to go for prohibited items as those sellers *will go thru the process of filing the proper forms to send such items.

💥 pls be aware of scalpers! I tend to browse multiple pages and multiple listings of the same item to see what the prices typically fall around. if it looks too cheap, be aware of an item's description. if it looks too expensive, it probably is.

let's use this bad boy as an example. the main things you wanna look at on any item is the condition and the photos to be *sure* you are happy with what you're getting. if you see the same photos across listings, be a lil wary. you can see estimated shipping times and the seller's general ratings. always read item explanations if there is one in case the seller makes any notes of defects or other things.

you can add to shopping cart to keep browsing or you can go to the order page to immediately purchase.

so proxies typically have different plans you can choose when you buy items and that adds towards the fees. these can include inspections, insurance, etc of items when they arrive at the proxy warehouse (see your proxy's FAQ for plan descriptions). it's up to you what you deem worth choosing, if at all. for most things, I just go with whatever costs me 0 lol - especially if it's a cheaper item that I really don't feel needs to be inspected or insured, like a plushie or keychain. regardless of plan, you'll have to pay some proxy service fee (here the "buyee service fee"). in the top right, you'll see the total cost of everything. once you're happy, then you pick your form of payment. I usually go with paypal.

you can go to your page and see typical stuff like orders, settings, and the like. there's often specific tabs for certain sites like auctions so you can go there for anything you purchase in that way. the cart is anything you've added but haven't bought.

the orders tab is for anything bought and you may see the status of its shipping to the proxy warehouse which I'll get to in the next bit.

package information is everything that has arrived to the warehouse so here you can see I have 12 items currently waiting to be shipped to me.

user information, pretty basic but do MAKE SURE your addresses and things are 100% correct. it would really suck nuts if you pay out the ass for international shipping and it gets sent to the wrong place.

on the orders tab, you can see the status of the item. it contains important bits like date ordered and order # (I've blotted out mine). order received is *you* paying for the order. order completed is *buyee* paying for the order. shipped means the seller has shipped to buyee's warehouse address and arrived at warehouse is self explanatory.

*sometimes, a seller may cancel an order after you've paid for it and you will be refunded. this is often due to the seller unable to actually send the item for whatever reason or they don't sell to proxies. nothing you can really do about it but I've only had it happen a couple of times in dozens of purchases.

back to the package information tab, here you can see all the packages that have arrived at the warehouse waiting for shipment. proxies will store packages for free for a certain number of days - buyee being 30 while I've seen other go to 45 days, etc. after that time is up, you will be charged for storage per day so be aware of that!

here you can consolidate packages which means putting everything into one shipment instead of going individually. you can see estimated costs of shipping per item which, if you did each item individually, that would be mad expensive. when you consolidate, things can still be pretty pricey but imo better to pay idk 150 bucks in shipping for 10 items instead of 300 bucks for all 10 individually.

💥 shipping is calculated by weight so be aware of that when you buy items - however baseline costs will be the same for lighter items regardless of how much they weigh. baseline costs for me is around 15-30 bucks regardless of what I get. for example, I have a teeny tiny keychain in storage and several figures. the shipping for that keychain is the same cost as the figures so it's only sensible to lump them into one package cuz I ain't paying out the ass to ship 1 keychain lol.

you are free to consolidate what you want and how. if you wanna consolidate some packages to ship now and you wanna do others later, you are free to. just keep in mind your budget and storage time!

proxies also offer services to protectively wrap your packages. if you're concerned about damage, then choose that option when you consolidate. I don't often do it unless what I'm buying can break otherwise all my packages have arrived relatively unharmed.

💥 proxies will consolidate things AS IS so if you have a buncha figures that don't have their boxes, the proxy will put them in a shipping box just as they are, however they received them from the seller. so if the seller only bubble wrapped the figure, it will be sent to you just like that, no additional protection unless you pay for that option.

*consolidation can take some days and you'll be informed when items are ready to ship. at that point, you pay the shipping and that's it! you can choose what type of shipping you wanna go with (such as DHL, EMS, sea mail (if it's available), etc at differing prices and arrival times. pick what's best for you. *note, sea mail is often the cheapest but the slowest (like several months arrival time) and not available to every country (plus you'd want protective packaging for this just in case cuz boat rides be bumpy)

here are some examples of shipping costs for a single one of my items. some of these options will disappear when I consolidate cuz shipping a lil figure is very different from shipping a larger box full of multiple things.

💥 be sure to read EVERYTHING and make sure you know what options you're choosing to make sure it fits your budget and expectations of arrival time.

one more thing proxies can do is order from a number of sites that aren't on the main page. for buyee, you want to go to the other sites information tab and then click "purchase request for other sites."

here you can input the information of whatever site you want to see if the proxy can purchase it for you. this is how I buy things on ebten like the jpn only preorders. if the proxy cannot buy the requested item, they'll let you know.

if they can go thru with the order, they will confirm your payment and it goes thru the same process as any other order.

here's a little deep dive on the fight club necklace / my process in general hehe

i put like way too much thought into all my jewelry and this is about to be the most in depth ive actually ever gone about my process so sorry in advance 4 how long winded i am

(and if ur new to my jewelry i get everything secondhand and i upcycle so i source from places like estate sales/thrift stores/antique malls/ebay/shop frum peoples personal collections etc )

i think the necklace and the original paper street bracelet i made speak the same visual language as the paper street house pretty well because i sourced most of it from some of my oldest and most visually ornate jewelry finds.

a lot of the beads from this one are actually from this really dope older lady i knows collection/more specifically from a costuming warehouse in nyc and the jewelry is just so ornate and crazy and out of style, i imagine they were once worn by the kind of people that wouldve gotten their soup peed in so its kind of fun to reclaim them for something like this

when i went to go look thru my stash i was specifically thinking of chipping wallpaper and pulling anything that evoked that to me-kind of corny for a second, but i love beat up old houses visually and theres something so cool about the juxtaposition of ornate/destroyed. layerS and layers of beautiful print made sad and irrelevant by its surroundings. these (the houses and the jewelry) were luxurious and cool and trendy at one point and now theyre completely obsolete and funny. i honestly think the whole thing screams tyler durdens philosophy also

( a beautiful thing destroyed, the performance of put-togetherness+ wealth, putting stake in material goods+trends only for them to be completely stripped away by time )

but anyway yeah when u put these glamorous old things together with stuff like keys and charms that don't match and mix gold/silver, you get this really lived in and sick junk drawer effect, and when you pair pale whites with pale greens it can kind of give a souring/moldy/aged look

little more specific callouts tho for references (left to right)

golf club charms r pretty obvious

the green engraved stone i grabbed immediately because it gives the old wallpaper feeling i was going for

theres this golden charm that's kinda like a kitschy grandma charm, it says "1 minute/1 hour/1day/1week/1year/1leapyear/1century" and i put that as a reference to "this is your life and its ending one minute at a time"/"i am jacks wasted life" and i also think it works on another level/kindamatches with fight clubs irony since its like supposed to be a cutie love commitment idk at least 2 me hahaha

the little step ladder charm and the key i added so that it would read as yeah a dirty old unfinished house/kinda a visual junk drawer..the key i got at an estate sale (i got a bunch and had to make key soup to clean them all)it opens something somewhere

the dog vaccination tag is there both as a reference to the guy that they threaten but then also slightly as a nod to the narrators wacked self esteem the whole like puppy dog obsession aspect IDK

theres a little P and S charm for paper street

the freshwater pearl at the end and the plastic bone shaped bead are kind of supposed to give teeth/bones like subconsciously, i tried a kind of similar thing when i made jewelry based off of pearl from X and tried to make like a rotting looking necklace

theres a little coke bottle cracker jack toy on there too, if ur trying to condense fight club into symbols, glass bottles pop up in my brain so i wanted to find something like that and i got lucky. theres also a little green telescope cracker jack toy thats kind of rusty and i picked it up for how well it matched what i was going for visually but i feel like it could also be a space monkeys thing

any way thanks for looking at this, like i said this is the deepest ive ever gone into depth about my process, but this is why im so drawn to creating jewelry it feels like taking a picture or finishing a puzzle i just do it in a really specific way and it always feels fresh and new when i start a new project, (i definitely dont always have this much to say i promise) but any way hope this was cool

Top 3 coolest finds at a show?

I do really like amethyst (and it’s my birthstone) but it’s too hard for me to pick only one favorite 😅 Some of my favorites: amethyst of course, citrine, unique included quartz, any minerals from the alps, tourmaline, aquamarine (honestly I love all beryl), and opal.

Right before I moved to Austria last year I broke my phone so I lost a bunch of cool pictures from past shows but I’ll try to see if I can dig some up -

1. I’m sure this comes as no shock to older followers but one of my absolute favorite gem show finds EVER are these incredible pieces of rainbow obsidian carved by a pair of artisans from Jalisco, Mexico. I think the only way I’ll get to buy from them again is when we actually go to Mexico because they don’t do any shows in Europe 😭 but I swear I will get my hands on these pieces of art again!

2. This didn’t come from a show but a warehouse I used to go to when we lived in California. I almost cried when this sold because I loved it so much. Amethyst stalactite geode thing from Uruguay

3. This incredible elestial smoky citrine from Brazil. This was in my store right up until we closed it out and I WISHHH I could have just brought this with me 😭 also I wish I had a better picture of it.

And this you didn’t ask but on my journey through my Instagram I found some pictures of my old shop and it made my heart ache.

I miss my shop so much some days. I know it was better for us to close it and move to Austria but I’m still sad it’s gone. I really hope I can recreate it (or create something better) some day soon 💜💫

are you perhaps comfortable speaking more on winnie and the drs personalities? their relationship to each other?

forgive the quality im inebriated and tired but ummmm well heres some shit abt their dynamic.

he starts seeing her as a patient bc of an incident with a spirit (that she could see all her life but never interact with) where she woke up in an abandoned boat storage warehouse by the harbor surrounded by a dozen dead men cleaved in half. the spirit follows winnie constantly and only seeks dr whittaker out once the spirit halves a man for grabbing winnie on her walk home.

at first dr whittaker is very uninterested in taking on another patient after his previous patient went missing, and assumed to have taken her own life. he struggles a lot with not feeling like a failure and also he goes to this bar/underground fight club type arena where he just gets the shit beat outta him so. he is not very well. but he gives winnie a try bc he feels like he owes it to his last patient who was around her age.

anyways winnie is initially not into it since its a last ditch effort, but also bc hes gonna tell her what every other therapist/psychiatrist/specialist told her before; that these are delusions. but this time she knows theyre not, so shes even more uncouth and cold. dr whittaker doesnt rly react bc he feels the same. he feels like hes going thru the motions and decides to take off his glasses and veer off course and just explain to her this will probably be his last session, so he may as well vent too. winnie and him find common ground and start to kinda bond before she finallytells him whats up. he puts his glasses back on and well. he can see it too.

winnie FREAKS OUT bc she knows the spirit has a particular intolerance for men. she ducks down while dr whittaker kinda just stares. the spirit stalks forward, reaches a hand out, and... fixes his glasses. he can see the spirit, and the spirit trusts him.

I’m not sure of the stock numbers, they may just be selling off unsold store stock and not doing additional inventory, and you’d be competing with rural domestic fans. So I’d say act fast if you intend on getting anything. I'd suggest just going for the complete boxes too and splitting with friends if you don't want all of them vs using your one chance on blind bags.

If you use Buyee to check out… the conversion rates for the items will look really nice, but the shipping will likely be a gut punch per item. The key is to buy several things, wait for them all to arrive at the warehouse, and then *consolidate* all your purchases into one package at the Buyee warehouse so you get one big box and one shipping bill. Instead of accidentally shipping each little thing as they come in at $30+ shipping an item. And just avoid buying the posters. The shipping for that internationally because of the shape makes it bad for consolidation.

You can also shop at other marketplaces on Buyee like mercari.jp (just look up the Japanese to use in the search engine like ぼっち・ざ・ろっく!) and add those purchases to your big box.

I’m not sure if PARCO charges domestic shipping to the Buyee warehouse or not. A lot of sellers on mercari.jp for example do not, but I’ve been charged domestic shipping by a few when I strayed. Something to be aware of.

There’s a lot of Buyee shipping walk thrus on YouTube if you have concerns.

Hello! I hope u don't mind my questions, but regarding the Emperor's Acolyte AU, is it possible for you to elaborate further about Raine's relationship with King and his position in the Kingdom of the Red Sun? And what of Edric and Emira and their position in the moon court (i think?) I absolutely LOVE the concept and the possible exploration in the day-to-day life of the people stuck within the kingdom, INCLUDING that incredibly interesting play! How did King even find Luz's manuscript, anyway?

first of all just posted smth explaining the militia so i think thats a good point on where to start thinking abt everyone´s places in all this vv

second of all , King´s been around Raine for as long as they been turned into head of the bard coven , King always holds a certain curiosity for everyone in the castle ,but his interest turned further when he took notice of Eda´s relationship with them when he was "kidnapped" in the Owl House for a bit (if you check my #emperor acolyte au tag for a sec youll see a small fic of a scene between luz n king transcurring at that time)

Since King starts seeing the Owl Lady as a maternal figure for him (it sorta starts off as wanting to get something Luz has but really, King just needs honest affection and Eda´s doesnt feel like it has any ulterior motive) , King sorta turns Raine into a royal "advisor" bard figure but in reality he sorta rlly just wants to matchmaking them n Eda so they can form his own idea of a family ,King likes to hear their music before sleeping and they unequivocally bond over extremely similar trauma in the hands of the Emperor´s Coven, to the point it makes Raine feel extremely guilty they didnt try getting him outta it much sooner considering they are realizing this is a 9 yr old whos been treated like a dog by the worse person in the Isles not even allowed to talk to other people besides the Emperor n Kikimora, in a way this guilt drives Raine further to not leave the castle to the small rebellion that Darius n Eber been forming.

Speaking of Darius n Eber, Darius n King has a small confrontation/argument that lead to their leave, Eber at first didnt actually mind the way King was running things since it was all sorta thrilling and battle oriented , but since hes inseparable from Darius he aint gnna be ditching his buddy ya know. Darius was just trying to get information of his old mentor, because King KNOWS about the way he died because Belos told him , at least his own version of it, but the more heated Darius got at King´s avoidance of the details, he ended up saying something that made the kid snap at him like "You care more about your mentor more than Hunter, where is he now? what would your mentor think about the way you treated him up until now?" which pretty much shut down that whole conversation, parting ways.

Regarding Luz´s manuscript, it was unfinished, she wanted to join that writer´s competition just as she did in the original episode but some other adventure ended up calling up to her ,so she just sorta forgot abt it or decided it leave it for other day. When the Owl House got raided by the Emperor´s coven n everything was sent to a warehouse, King came up to that warehouse to get Owl Lady´s stuff n move it into his new castle basically , he came upon it while just looking thru Luz stuff n decided to read it through because hes nosy ( he did the same with eda´s diary before), he´s never rlly been allowed to write his own stuff even when he was taught to write and read, so he decided to take it upon himself to make it "his" novel, and subsequently his play , as a way to vent all out his feelings of the world , his feelings towards Luz and everything else, plus to make a big statement culturally for the Isles.

for Edric n Emira, they were dragged into the Moon Court for Collector´s favor , because they were essentially living around them for a good while before turning into King´s Right Hand . Odalia´s been disposed off but not killed (because Emira convinced em to Not Kill their mom as much as the twins n Amity hate her because thats already so much trauma), Alador has run off to join Darius growing group as a way to find a solution to this whole, mess.

Hii , Just read the last chapter of innocent eyes and I flipped my s*it can't wait for the next chapters . I am glad everyone is safe and unscathed . As for now turmoil is over, but every one deserves a break and peace. At a same time feeling bad for Sudo. Will he be able to recover from his current state or will he be like this forever ? (I hope he recovers) What exactly is wrong with his mind?

new chapter had hella going on! I admit I was dissappointed by lack of dialogue in some places. It was very visual heavy. I cant help but feel unsatisfying with lack of answers given to us in this final chapter. Maybe if aki had explained more about how he had taken less of the medication? Or what excatly was simon doing or needing? we still know nothing of the contract maksim had asami sign? and it feels still like the fate of some of the villians is up in the air! But maybe i am just eager to get to the next chapter!

Of course I was happy with the end of it, aki finally saying what he’s wanted to say to asami all this time. That was sweet 😚 that finally hug scene too 😤😤

One of my favorite parts was Aki saving Sudo in the end. Even clearly remembered what Sudo had put him thru in the past. I think it was very old aki of him to spare his life anyway. I agree with you feeling bad for sudo - it was kinda a dark scene to have Sudo just sitting their eating a cookie while everything burned around him 😨 I dont know if he will ever recover. Simon mentioned in previous chapters that he hadnt done anything to him in terms of brainwashing, so its not like Simon was keeping him in this form. It seemed to be a result of injuries he sustained while in the warehouse that collapsed - probably brain injury? He is basically like a vegatable. Or like he’s reverted back to being a little kid. But given how cruelly simon was treating him, he probably fully wasnt getting the help he needed. I can see him being handed over to Sakazaki and allowing them to live and leave the country. Maybe then he’ll get better but we will see if he ever makes his return.

@fullyclothedmolerat late response but OMG I am a supply chain analyst and my role started with just doing supply chain related reporting (for purchasing and inventory stuff like lead times, turns, spend, supplier metrics, etc) and that wasn't nuts cause I transitioned to an analyst from a buyer position and this kinda stuff was my wheelhouse. Plus I had already been building reports for myself to make my job easier. I just had to familiarize myself with the databases more and learn more complicated SQL so I could so more interesting n fun things.

But since transitioning I've been roped into doing a lot of shit for our sales team. It's some stuff they genuinely need but no longer have anyone within their dept who can create anymore, but also a lot of stuff that I have to do to maintain accountability because the sales team wouldn't do it themselves and repeatedly lied about not doing it. Then there's a lot of stuff I have to do for them because they fucked stuff up unbelievably hard and don't even know the extent of the issue let alone how to fix it. So I have to dig thru their stupid data and pinpoint where things went wrong or identify what stuff was affected by the mistake. I had to learn a lot of their fucking work to do this btw and it sucks. Literally I am constantly reading their customers' contracts and making sure everyone is abiding by its terms. I can not just trust what they say because they have told me the wrong things or straight up lied to me for whatever fucking reasons so I have to know the job to manage their shit correctly. Soooooo bullshit and sooooo not in my job description :/

I also have to help accounting with audits sometimes cause their records go into our database obvs and they need help pulling them. This is the scariest thing in the world. The accounting tables are horrifying and doing something wrong (because I don't work in accounting!! I don't know how their stuff works!! Its complicated work!!!) could result in a serious problem.

I have also had to do various work for our production and warehouse teams to help them deal with weird specific issues before they had better tools to manage them, cause in the meantime I could build a query + sheet that gave them enough detail to work from. Like for example I did something once to help determine labor needs for the last couple days of the quarter based on how many orders remained and at what stage of completion they were in.

I'm one of only two people outside the software development team who knows how to use SQL, the other being my boss's boss and he can't be pulled into this kinda stuff... so I have become an all arounder who has to know as much as possible about everything cause everyone needs help. And when I don't know how to help with something I get bitched at...

no pressure or anything but i’m curious since you go in the game files a lot + have a mod sorta centered on this quest, i’ve never seen anyone do this, and i don’t have access to da2 rn, do you know how best served cold like. works? if bethany/carver are both dead, sebastian is never recruited, fenris is either not recruited or hawke betrays him during his act 3 quest, anders gets kicked out of the party after his act 2 personal quest, isabela leaves at the end of act 2, and hawke has aveline, varric, and merrill with them the whole time?

does the quest still work or does it get glitchy? i suppose it might not be too difficult to get to work from a gameplay standpoint, but that seems potentially even less comprehensible than the normal quest lmao and i know the devs were under crunch

lmao I don't know about "get" glitchy, since it is already glitchy under typical circumstances. after a companion is kidnapped you can still add them to your party from the party picker and sometimes go initiate conversations with them at their party base. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

what usually happens is that there will (should!) always be a "default" option the game will be able to fall back on, even if it's not itself a "correct" option. what I mean is like, if you have two lines that play based on Hawke's gender, you wouldn't set one to play if Hawke was male and the other to play if Hawke was female, you'd set one to play if Hawke was female and then set the other to *always* play, and then if Hawke's gender wasn't registering as either male or female for whatever reason, it would still have *a* line to play, even if incorrect, rather than abruptly breaking and falling out of the conversation early.

as for how best served cold works—in Keran's dialogue where he announces which character has been kidnapped, he has a long list of lines describing the kidnapped character, with special plot flags used specifically to determine if that character is eligible to be kidnapped there. this is for the siblings and romances. if there's no sibling alive and no romanced character not in the active party, it falls through to the default, generic line "We just got word they pulled it off, right before you came here."

if that line plays, it calls a special little bit of plot script used to determine, if a sibling or romance isn't kidnapped, then who should be kidnapped instead? I've looked at the script disassembly for this flag recently and I don't 100% understand it, but it goes thru a list of characters and checks their availability and their approval level and then picks the first one in the list that meets its requirements. there SHOULD be a fall-through state for this too in case no one passes. I know back when I was making my mod, I made my fall-through state if all the changes that *I* made failed to pick a kidnapping victim to just... call this plot flag and let IT figure it out lmfao.

still, it's very probable that they didn't ever consider this one very specific situation in which NOBODY would be eligible and now I'm curious, so I deleted most of the characters from the party pool in my save game, unset some flags that would lead the game to believe bethany and carver were available anyway, and rocked up to the warehouse with aveline, merrill, varric, and no other friends in the whole wide world to see what would happen, keran told me someone unspecified had been kidnapped, and then lying there on the beach...

was no one

and then we abruptly fell out of thrask's conversation early because the conversation was set up "improperly" with no fallback line and so Grace couldn't decide whose death to call for, leaving us all stranded standing aimlessly on the beach with no way to progress the rest of the quest or the game

which was very funny

then I checked the cnv and saw the other dialogue choice WOULD have allowed the cutscene to progress (the third dialogue option was missing from the wheel completely), tried that, found a second dialogue wheel with a missing option, and then

we abruptly fell out of the conversation here once again because there was no one to thank me for rescuing them again and, once again, no fallback line, so once again our game was softlocked

so I'd say, to answer your question, the quest does NOT work and "glitchy" is an understatement

I could complain until the cows come home but seems like AEG is here to stay. So I wrote my own version of it featuring my Ocs9 bc of course plus a bit of TATMR. So my version is Thomas and audrey being partners (engineer and train) to become Number 1 but has to go thru numerous challenges to get to it. One of them being making it out the smelters yard...alive.

"Don't worry Audrey I'll get you home!" Thomas chirped. His enthusiasm softened my edge but I was still very nervous.

As time dragged on the sky darkened to a pitch black. Only the not-yet full moon and Thomas's lamp were our source of light. I shiver. Thomas must've noticed my anxiety because he spoke up.

"Are you okay Audrey?"

"I'm fine," I say. My voice comes off as a stuffed whimper. I sniffle. I hate getting colds.

My aunts would tell me monsters lurked in the dark though that was probably to keep me from going into the fridge at night. Now I didn't have to worry about that but their mocking still fresh in their minds. Even though Thomas is here I couldn't stop the sense of dread gnawing in my tummy.

Soon we're at a portion of the island I have never seen before. There was a large building, with smoke coming out of large towers. Red glow from the windows. The smell of oil weighs down on me like somebody sitting on my back. I don't know if engines had a sense of smell but seeing Thomas scrunching his nose up I think that confirms it.

"We have to keep our voices down," whispered Thomas. I nodded.

Quietly, Thomas starts to move. I hear the sizzling hiss of sparks from wires dangling in random places. The air seems to heat up worse, like standing right next to fire. I can even hear the rough pounding of metal being smashed from instead the building. Victor's workshop it was not.

"What exactly do they do here?"

"Exactly what it says, they melt old engines down for parts." Thomas replied sadly. It was a terrible thing to hear. Hit too close to home. I hated my aunts but at least they never sold me for parts.

Suddenly we hear a long drawn out honk echo through the yard, and I jump at the noise. Thomas freezes in his spot.

"Oh no...We gotta hide!" He exclaims. He darts over to where a large flatbed full of twisted metal rested in place, and hides behind it.

"Wait why?" I ask. I get my answer when we see another train, a diesel with black and yellowish coloring, slither through where we were just standing a few seconds ago. They didn't seem to notice we were hiding behind it.

We wait what feels like a horrible lifetime. The engine moves to a different spot never noticing our presence. Thomas lets out a sigh. I peek out from the window and see it as a sign to go.

Thomas sneaks away to a section of rail obscured by shadows. We wait another long horrible minute, as the diesel slither back to fetch the flatbed we had just used as a hiding spot. We watch as they take it inside the warehouse. We hear a bunch of noises, and a clanking sound.

We go back and forth, finding a hiding spot as the diesel moves around the yard. Thomas determined to outsmart our unaware opponent. I felt so helpless how else would I feel being in train hell?

"Thomas I'm scared!"

"No! We'll get out of here I promise!" Thomas replies quiet determination. I clutch my jacket tighter. Then I spotted a track that led to the back entry of the warehouse. There seemed to be no one there. I gasp. Our ticket out.

"What about the back way?" I suggest. He follows where I'm pointing at.

"Good call Audrey!" The engine says and, seeing tbe diesel distracted, quickly tiptoes towarda the back avoiding as much light as possible.

I nearly laugh in triumph. Finally we're almost free...!

"Well well well look what we have here?"

Thomas's wheels shrieks to a stop. I peek my head out the cabin and watch, terrified as the same diesel behind grins at us. I recognize it as my aunt would smile like that before sending me to the attic.

"Didn't your parents tell you it's rude to show up uninvited late in the day? The diesel sneers. Thomas rolls back hoping to distance himself as much as possible.

"I I was just trying to go back to the sheds," he stammers quickly. Unmoved the diesel moves forward.

"And are the sheds with us now?" Said the diesel.

"Actually I wanted to take a shortcut yeah? The smelters is the quickest and best way to go-home?" At that last part Thomas's rambling trails off as he realizes the diesel is not moved by his excuse. I paused wondering if I should come out. If the diesel saw Thomas has a passenger maybe he'll let us go. They wouldn't melt a human much less a little kid.

Thomas rolls back but yelps as he bumps into another diesel with the same exact coloring.

"'Arry why don't you show the kid around will ya?"

The diesel named Arry lets out an identical grin. "Don't mind if O do!"

Thomas whimpers as the diesels escort us into the warehouse.

If you thought outside was bad inside was a total nightmare. Sparks fizzles like lightning, the room enveloped in bright red and nothing else. Smoke gets inside the cabin and i cough. The sounds of grinding metal pounds my ears and i cover them up to block out the sound.

"Ey we got a little pest infestation!" The diesel barks. I hear a bunch of jeers, and I look to see the building had multiple platforms where diesels move about pushing trucks full of metal and other stuff I don't wish to imagine.

The twin diesels park Thomas in front of a tower. It spins as it lowers another much bigger diesel into view. He is colored gold and have eyes burning like the flames flickering from the giant fire pit adjacent to us. But the part that I notice the most if the claw on top of his "head." It is wide and comes to sharp points.

He studies the little engine before him.

"This is the pest? That's just a little puffball" His voice is deep and smooth, not like the merry sadism of his cohorts.

"Well we caught 'him sneaking about. Probably one of Gordon's students."

At the mention of Gordon the diesel perks up a brow. "Gordon you say? Hmph, Ever since he beat me in that race I've been punching up here," he mumbles. I detect a pinch of jealousy. His claw clangs. "I know Pinchy, daddy knows you deserve better too."

"Uh but fidn't you cheat?" Thomas pipes up on confusion. He jumps as the diesel clang his claw in anger.

"Who gave you permission to speak?" The diesel asks, as if he didn't just throw a temper tantrum.

"Well since I'm about to die I might as well say my last words," Thomas replies with a shrug. "But before you scrap me, I have one final request."

"What pray tell would that request be?"

"I wish I had a bag of sugar."

The diesels lurch in horror. I hear the rest gasp. Seems like sugar was a tough subject. Maybe they were allergic...do engines even eat our food?

Diesel 10's mouth twists but as quickly gathers himself again and chuckles smoothly.

With that implication his claw slowly reaches for Thomas.

"Okay maybe not sugar, then again you diesels aren't very known for being sweet."

"You have some nerve boy," Diesel 10 sneers. "I'm about to toss you into the pit yet you seem unafraid."

"Well I would be lying if I say I'm not afraid which also means I am not actually that afraid," Thomas replies quickly.

Diesel 10 laughs. It sickens me even further.

"I can smell when you're lying boy," he wipes his face with his claw. "You think I'm impressed by such childish banter?"

"Banter who said anything about banter?" Thomas scoffs. "I'm the one who got kidnapped I'm literally just one engine," he sniffles as a tear falls out of his wide blue eyes.

"What would the fat controller say!"

""Perhaps you'll make a good addition to my collection. I have something old something new and something borrowed but no something blue."

Thomas gulps as the claw of Diesel 10 inches closer...closer.

"Wait!" I scream and against Thomas's protest, I step out of the cabin. I run right in front of Thomas with my hands out. "Leave him alone you giant metal crab!

The diesels all look stunned. Diesel 10 is taken aback by my presence. Then he growls.

"Nobody dares speak to me like that!" His claw snaps open and shut in agreement.

I shrink back but the heat of the moment - heh - gets to me. "Well I just did! Thomas is taking me back home. We didn't mean to come here, sir."

Thomas adds,"We promise we'll never set foot here again Just please let us go."

Diesel 10 ponders for a moment. He looks at me, then at Thomas. I could tell he didn't want to. I stand close to Thomas.

Finally his claw clangs again and he relents.

"Fine we'll let you go, For now," he mutters. "Escort them out. I don't want to be bothered again!"

I get bakc into the cabin and Thomas let's out a relieve. The diesels frown but do as their boss says, and leads us out of the warehouse. The moment we're free Thomas shoots by as far away from the scary place. I sit back and take as many breaths as I can. I was so scared but Thomas's safety was more important. He done so much for me I didn't want to lose him.

"That was an ordeal! Thank you Audrey for standing up for me back there," Thomas says in gratitude.

I feel my face heat up. "Thank you. I don't know what came over me I saw that claw try to hurt you and I-"

"It's fine, besides I wasn't scared at all!" Thomas cuts in. Clearly he was trying to save face to spare the embarrassment. But better embarrassed than scrapped.

the crossover curse

a/n: i wrote this last june (somehow??) n forgot abt it but i found it lookin thru old drafts and was so amused that i decided. maybe i will share it with the world lol. haven't written new legends fic in months but hey here's this

The trip into Gideon's brain had let Astra know many things about the history of the Legends she hadn't known, but that trip had neglected to include an event the older team members seemed to hate: crossovers. What she'd learned about them came from the nights where the Legends crowded in the galley to share dinner and hang out. It was usually Nate who started the complaining, though she hadn't thought he wasn't the type to hold a grudge even with those meathead muscles of his.

What she'd learned from these rants that Sara would hop onto was that crossovers were a waste of time: some hero, usually Barry Allen, got in over his head and called every damn hero to lend a hand. The Legends were an afterthought in these events, and most of the team had refused to participate in them after it got Jax's nuclear partner Martin Stein killed.

Well, no one said that they'd stopped going because he did. But by the silence when it got brought it, that was what she figured out.

With the Legends retired, she'd figured she'd been lucky to avoid one. The other heroes out there handled one while they were gone, from what Sara had filled them in on at their first post-retirement dinner. Apparently, though, retirement didn't save them from the crossover curse.

Astra had been enjoying her weekend when she heard a knock at her door. She put down her coffee to go see who the hell was coming to see her on a Sunday.

What she had not been expecting to see a nerdy looking white guy standing there. "I'm not buying anything," she said, before starting to close the door.

"Wait! Are you Astra Logue?" he asked, holding out his hand to stop her.

"Who's asking?"

"I'm Barry Allen," he introduced himself, before glancing to see if anyone was in the hallway. "I-"

"This is some crossover thing, isn't it?" Astra asked, crossing her arms.

"Uh, yeah," Barry answered. "Sara told me a lot of the Legends are in different time periods, but you're here and we need everyone we could get."

She rolled her eyes. "God forbid they text me before sending someone to get me," she muttered. "Fine. But if I have to miss work for this-"

"Don't worry about it." He took her arm. "Oh, and hold on."

"Hold-"

She had experienced some pretty wild shit during her time with the Legends, but being transported from Washington DC to Central City faster than the human body should experience was one of the worst. Thankfully, she kept down her coffee, but she leaned against a chair as she glared at Barry fucking Allen.

"Oh, hey, you made it!" Ava exclaimed.

"Couldn't I have just taken a train?" Astra grumbled. "Or teleported, or something?"

"You can teleport?" Sara asked.

"I could have found a spell." She pushed herself up and took in the other heroes, the warehouse they were all standing in. "I thought we were exempt."

Ava sighed. "Apparently not."

"There goes my weekend."

Hello! I’m super curious as to wear you get your biothane from and where you get the bits for it? (Not sure what to call em but I mean the buckles and screws/bolts for them)

I’m very interested in making biothane for my service dog and I’m not sure where to start :’)

Hi! I'm happy to help, making biothane gear is a lot of fun!

I get my biothane and hardware from a few different places usually. For biothane, I'm going to assume you are looking for beta biothane (the matte, soft, leather-ish textured biothane that most makers use for dog gear) since that's what I use. Generally, for whole rolls (25 ft minimum,) I go to Strap Warehouse. When I don't need (or can't afford) a whole roll, I tend to purchase from The Lucky Hound since they sell by the foot! Occasionally I will buy from Paracord.eu (sells by the meter) or Lennie Equipment (sells by the meter or by the roll) because sometimes they have widths/thicknesses I'm looking for that American distributors don't sell.

The Lucky Hound and Paracord.eu also have some exclusive/limited edition biothane colors that other distributors don't have, because they had them custom produced with the Biothane company! These include discontinued colors Biothane no longer produces, and completely custom new colors. Recently a lot of new colors have been coming out this way and it's really exciting!!

As for hardware (rings, buckles, snaps, clips, rivets, eyelets, etc.,) it's not always easy to find exactly what I'm looking for--I like solid stainless steel and solid brass the best, and I like to use double cap rivets rather than tubular style or Chicago screws, and so I tend to shop around to different trusted suppliers to find who has the exact pieces I need. Ohio Travel Bag, Tandy Leather, Buckle Guy, Weaver Leather, Stecks Store, Strap Warehouse, Paracord.eu, and Lennie Equipment all have an assortment of good quality hardware that I trust to choose from and have bought from in the past. Specifically for stainless steel rivets (hard to find!), I buy from Collars by Kitt. In general, I would avoid buying hardware from like...sketchy Amazon sellers, just because the quality is very hit or miss with them.

Those are the sources for materials I use most often, but if there's anything you can't find specifically, I might have it bookmarked somewhere, so feel free to ask!

Aside from that, some general tips: here is a handy resource to see what colors/thicknesses/widths of beta biothane are currently being produced mainstream by the company and what their specs are (break strength, size, etc.)

Personally I prefer to use "standard" thickness beta biothane for most of my gear. I use rivets with 8mm-9mm long posts when I need to fasten thru 2 layers of standard thickness biothane, and rivets with 10mm-12.7mm long posts when I need to fasten thru 3 layers of standard. As a general rule, for any hardware being set through the strap (rivets, eyelets, snaps, etc.) you want a post length that's ≥2mm longer than the total thickness of material you're going through (that said, there is a such thing as post that's TOO long.)

For setting rivets, you can get hand setters that are just a post and a little anvil that you use with a hammer (don't use a hammer with a metal head, you will damage your tools and hurt your hand over time.) But unless you're well-practiced with those hand rivet setters, it can be difficult to get consistent quality results (and trying to set a stainless steel rivet by hand would be rough!) so if you have the budget for it, I highly recommend a hand press with a lever arm--you can get different dies for it for hole punching or setting rivets, eyelets, snaps, etc. of different sizes. I have one similar to this one which is relatively cheap but still works well (and the tool dies for it are affordable,) but there are fancier ones for much more expensive. This one is the dream I would love to have someday, since it has a lot of nifty accessories you can get for it like a self-centering guide for punching.

For punching holes, you can use a hand press like the aforementioned ones for rivet setting, or you can get hand punches that you use with a hammer, or a rotary punch from any of the above leathercraft shops, or most craft stores. Punching by hand can easily give fine results (it's not as prone to issue as setting rivets by hand) and the rotary punch is convenient, but if you're doing a lot, the rotary punch can get pretty tiring to use since most of them take a lot of hand strength to use, lol. So I really like my press for punching holes too!

Trucker’s Call Part 1

(This story was before cell phones were common, & almost everyone carried a calling card starting with ‘ten-ten...’)

i was guarding a manufacturing plant with a warehouse on the grounds, and it was a blazing Sunday in summer, meaning i was literally the only person around. i look up from the desk in the guardshack to see a semi sitting there idling, the driver out of the cab at the gate. i stepped out of the shack, as i walked to the gate i could see the sizable bulge in his jeans, even from about ten feet away. i approached & tried not to look but...clearly i didn’t succeed.

“Can i help you?” ‘Yeah, I’m trying to find Company C-I was given bad directions so I had to reroute because of a low bridge..(he adjusts his bulge as he talks, drawing my eyes)”You’re in luck, you’re in the right area-‘(adjusts again)...’aaah, yeah it’s on the side street-‘ (adjusts but lingers)...’side street just ahead’ (gives his bulge a squeeze, showing how packed it is, & that it’s beginning to expand)....’what was i saying?’ He knew he had me at that point. “Before I head over can I use a pay phone to call in’ he locks eyes with me ‘and I need to take a wicked piss’ at that he gets a smirk;he’s playing with me, like a cat with a mouse. “Okay, which do you want first?”as i start unlocking the gate to let him in. ‘Whichever is further away’ “the payphone is in the warehouse-i can only call local from the shack’(there was a bypass code, but i wanted privacy) i grabbed my company radio from the shack & looked at him. He squeezed his bulge at me again and said ‘lead the way..sweet cheeks’ As i walked a few steps ahead of him i could feel his eyes on my ass, & i knew he planned to drop several loads into me before he left.

Once we got to the warehouse i had him wait outside while i disarmed the building, then brought him inside & pointed out the payphone. Once he dialed the number he put a booted foot on a nearby box, then motioned me over as he started talking & pulled down his zipper. That was all the invitation i needed & was on my knees before he had fished out his cock. He wasn’t that long, only around 6 inches, but it was thick enough that i knew my jaw would be aching by the time he done using it. It’s gonna be a while tho, after i drop my load in the bitch i need to wait until later to drop off the load...I mean the truck, wiseass!...ok, I’ll call later then’ and hangs up. ‘Now’ He finally addresses me ‘to dump a load in a cocksucking faggot’ as he grabs my head to begin skullfucking me like an out of control piston.
