Personal thoughts and meditations upon the occasion of the Riverdale series finale.
Probably like four people are going to read this but I feel compelled to write it out anyway. This show has genuinely been a massive part of my life. I watched the first episode because some high school friends encouraged me to (IRONICALLY, BRO). I was in high school when I started this show. Those friends of course long ago fell away, unable to continue, unable to wacth anymore, but I have kept the faith. All seven seasons. Every. Single. Episode.
I’m not even entirely sure what captivated me so much about the show. I loved the atmosphere of season 1. I genuinely wanted to find out who killed Jason Blossom. Was genuinely fucked up by episode 1 x 12 and the first season finale.
I have such fond memories of watching the first season. I distinctly remember a road-trip I Tok with my friends the summer of 2017, and joking about  maple syrup drug empires and the “weirdo” line back when that was the wildest scene on the show. Joking about how sick of the song ‘Believer’ by Imagine Dragons (2017) we were.
And then I decided to get involved in a fandom for the first time in a couple of years, and so I revived my old Tumblr, and I began Posting. And reading posts.
That was my last summer after high school and I was so nervous about college but this show and this fandom helped me get through it. My freshman year I lived in a dorm, and if you wanted to watch TV you had to go down to this common room, so every Thursday I would go down there like an hour ahead of time and occupy the place to make sure the remote was in my hands by 7 PM. A few times I failed, and I missed an episode because of it. But rarely!
I remember that slowly dawning feeling as season 2 progressed. Scrolling my Tumblr feed and slowly seeing people come to the realization: “wait…is it just me or does this show actually suck.” Was kind of frustrating at the time, realizing that the writers just like…were bad, but in retrospect? Beautiful. Incredible. Legendary.
And you could even say that’s where the fun really began. Yes, there’s plenty to hate, but also Riverdale is brilliant. The show of all time. For real. No other show has done it like Riverdale. They just haven't, and they never will. The age of the cable television teen drama is ending, and what a hell of a last hurrah Riverdale has been.
The Red Circle. Jingle Jangle. The Gargoyle King. Edgar Evernever and his fantastic rocket. Bret Weston Wallis and Donna Sweett (genuinely cannot say their names without giggling). Jughead getting hit in the head with a rock and faking his death for like…some reason? I genuinely can’t remember, something to do with the Hardy Brothers idk. Tabitha sprinkling the devil with the tears of the Virgin Mary. The normies can laugh all they want about “epic highs and lows” but do they remember the even funnier lines like “if there’s no wedding, that means the gargoyle king has won” or “word of my exploits serving Nick his comeuppance…” THEY NEVER WILL. ONLY THE TRUE FAITHFUL UNDERSTAND.
And is silly as it all was, I have genuine affection for these characters. Like Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Archie, Cheryl, Toni, actually mean a lot to me. YES they’re fake but I want the best for them (and for Beronica to be canon but you know we can’t win them all). I’m genuinely grateful that this show has existed and been a part of my life for the past six years.
Moreover, I credit this show for seriously getting into writing. I’ve actually written almost a million words of Riverdale fanfiction. Much of it will never see the light of day, but it exists. Maybe I even have one or two left in me, I don’t know. At the very least I’d like to finish a few uncompleted fics. But I’ve also branched out. Since I started seriously writing in 2017, I’ve also finished several original manuscripts, and who knows, maybe one day I’ll get one published. Stranger things have happened.
So, thanks Roberto.
And thanks to all of the very cool people I’ve run into in this fandom. I honestly wish I’d gotten to know most of you better, but them’s the breaks. Hopefully this isn’t weird but I’m going to tag a few people in particular.
@village-skeptic. I know you’re not in the fandom anymore (lucky you), but thank you for, once upon a time, reading every one of the 200,000+ words of a 17-year-old kid’s turgid, indulgent, Riverdale Spanish Civil War fan fiction. I never, ever would have finished that story without you, and I credit it with giving me the confidence to keep writing, and in fact to write everything I’ve written since then. You’re brilliant and awesome.
@satelliteinasupernova. Thank you for also reading Interbellum (are we noticing a pattern), and more importantly for all of your wonderful drawings. INCLUDING fanart of some of my fics. You have no idea how happy that Strange Death of Elizabeth Cooper piece made me. You rule.
@sullypants. You were a perennial presence on my feed. Always wonderful to see. I love your taste in art, and I love those ‘penguin classics’ covers you made for a few of my fics. Thank you also for beta reading a few fics for me back in the glory days. And thank you for chatting with me a couple times over the years, including a few times when I was in quite unhappy places.
@stillhidden. I’m not sure if we’ve ever actually talked, but you like or reblog everything I post and it makes me feel like I’m not just shouting into the void. Same goes for @frauleinfunf Thank God for dutiful mutuals.
@sonyascomet. I can’t remember when I started following you but you have a really good sense of humor. And I’ll always remember when you kept posting about “Greg” for Succession and I, not knowing anything about Succession, kept imagining Greg Heffley.
@stillhidden thank you for your world-weary Riverdale posts. You truly understand fandom like few others.
@halcooper. Your devotion to the neglected parents of Riverdale is truly admirable. Every time I see Lochlyn Munro in some weird low budget horror movie I’ll think of you.
I hope I didn’t forget anyone who would be offended by my forgetting, but I doubt it.
All this to say this show has been a genuinely huge part of my life for six years. SIX YEARS. I graduated college, my God. I wish I could say I became a millionaire or a successful author in that time, but nah. Maybe one day, but for now I’m just kind of vibing. And unfortunately, I’ll have to vibe without Riverdale from now on.
But as I sit myself down to watch the very last episode of this show, I remind myself that we’ll always have the memories. And I’ll always be an unapologetic Riverdale enjoyer. As a great man once said, snakes don’t shed their skins so easily.

I finished hazbin hotel last night, and while it was mostly not very good, the finale was decent.
This has nothing to do with tdau, but what’s your opinion on the hazbin/helluva boss franchise? (If you have one)
keep in mind i never finished hazbin: i think the majority of it is cheap shock humour like south park except its not even trying to say anything, its just trying to be edgy for the sake of being edgy. one of my friends really likes it and even he admits it sucks at points. we both like sir pentious but ive heard hes literally a caricature of one of vivs ex friends she hates and wanted to make fun off. i hate how the only lesbian is vaggie. i liked vox, and think his musical number with alastor was the only good one, although i only watched the first two episodes. my friend who likes hazbin also thinks all the musical numbers suck, however, so ive got it on good authority from a smart man who i trust the opinion of (love you bestie if you want me to continue watching for you i will xx)
helluva boss, even though i only watched season 1 (maybe an episode or two from season 2), was a lot better than hazbin. it was funnier (i really love brandon rogers' work. when i heard him do the bryce voice for katie killjoy i was excited bc i thought his involvement meant hazbin was gonna be a lot better than the pilot. it was not) the animation was SLIGHTLY less overdone (from what ive seen thats not even true anymore) even though i didnt really care for most of the characters i did like a couple (blitzo is your classic brandon rogers "asshole with problems you sympathise with before they remind you theyre an asshole". fizzarolli and asmodeus were VERY cute and alex brightman is a talented VA)
i think the fact she got kesha, a SINGER, to voice a character, but ONLY THE SPEAKING VOICE, is literally the dumbest thing ive ever heard in my life. it makes me so goddamn angry. if you couldnt afford her to sing, get someone else. dont get a SINGER to voice a character who SINGS but NOT VOICE THEM SINGING. ITS SO FUCKING STUPID. WHAT THE HELL. HOW DOES SHE SLEEP AT NIGHT. I AM SO SORRY KESHA. I AM SO SORRY THE GUY WHO SIR PENTIOUS WAS BASED OFF. IM SO SORRY EVERY GENERALLY RESPECTED VA OR BROADWAY ACTOR WHO NOW HAS THIS PERMANENTLY ON THEIR IMDB PAGE. KEITH DAVID YOU DESERVE SO MUCH BETTER!

I still continue to see criticism of season 2 of OFMD and I just. Find it so funny honestly. Like I get some of it, maybe, kinda. But for the most part I’m like ????? Nah don’t agree. Skill issue. I find it even funnier when people complain about the pacing being too fast because I honestly always felt the first season was too slow with its pacing. So season 2 was actually kinda perfect to me! I’m not the type to complain about what we were given and wish it was different though. I eat up every morsel they allow us to have, and to have jammed in so much content had me in paradise tbh. It is what it is, you know? I accept it all as just what we’ve got. And maybe that’s me just first and foremost loving the show as what it is- Ed and Stede’s story. Everything else is just a cherry on top for me. I’m here to have fun and if it can do that for me, I’m all good. And going into it with that mindset, guess what? I had a GREAT time. I sat down and rewatched the show in one day in its entirety two days after the finale with a friend who had never seen it. They loved it! I loved it, again! Id watch it again already!!! I parry criticisms of the show with great ease- who cares, it was fun, I loved it. That’s what mattered to me! Must suck to feel otherwise! :3 I’m kicking my feet n giggling over this little found family and my favorite boys in love. Teehee. Best show ever.

hiiii could you maybe write steve comforting the reader when they have to get a flu shot? i think that would be cute haha
how dare u send this in it's brilliant
"What about this? Could we be pirates?"
Steve turned to you with a flat but loving expression. "No. Really?"
You faked a frown, turning the cheap plastic envelope towards you and reading aloud. It was one of two matching pirate costumes, complete with vests and belts. "Why not? You're not...are you not into swashbuckling?"
"Swashbuckling?"
"That's what it says," you replied, turning the package to him. He laughed and shook his head, stepping in front of you to read the label himself. You couldn't help the spike in your pulse. The scent of amberwood and detergent curled into your nose, his head shadowing yours, a tuft of brown hair falling slowly over his forehead.
The tiniest grin grew on his lips.
"What?" you snapped. Knowing exactly what.
"Nothing," Steve shook his head, lips pursing as he read. You smiled despite your embarrassment, knowing your cheeks were blood red and he could probably hear your heartbeat from a mile away.
Halloween was fast approaching. This was the first autumn you had spent with Steve, and it was the most brilliant season by far. He wore all of those preppy sweaters he had stuffed in the back of his closet- a few greens and burgundys, a yellow one that he had finally decided was worthy enough to be worn. His skin had never struck you as particularly warm or cold until the fall.
Steve glanced up at you and pressed his hand to the side of your neck. Gently, like he was reminding you this was something he liked to do- touch you.
"This is what you want?" he asked softly.
You swallowed hard, burning. "Yeah, of course." Not really.
He blinked at you, down at your lips, and then rolled his eyes. "Alright. Fine. How much?"
You caved and stuck the costume back on the rack, giving up the ruse. "No. I'm just kidding."
"I know," Steve quipped. "I wouldn't have said alright, fine to you if you'd really wanted it."
"How sweet," you smiled.
"I try," he replied, mocking your soft tone. You laughed out loud, the remark made even funnier by the fact that Steve would do absolutely anything for you. He smiled crookedly, like he was pleased you knew it.
"Hey, do you wanna' stop and get our flu shots today?"
"What?"
Steve flicked leisurely through the costumes, none of them up to his standards. "Yeah. They're giving out a bunch of free ones at the pharmacy by my house. That green building we always pass when I take you home."
You nodded, palms immediately turning to nervous fists. "Oh. For free?"
"Mhm." He turned up at you as soon as he said it. "We don't have to. I just thought I'd suggest it."
He blinked at you with wide brown eyes, expectant but not impatient. Like he could tell this had upset you.
"Yeah," you forced out. "Sounds good."
He watched you for a moment more, shrugging. "It'll be nice to get 'em for free."
"Yeah, of course."
Another moment passed. He surmised you. Then, he nodded, stretching out his hand for you to take as he made his way toward the exit. The costume store was not yielding any options, but you thought about dragging him to the mask section on the way out and making him try on all of the options. Just to waste time.
In the car, your knee was bouncing. Steve usually held your hand instead of your leg when he drove, but he let go of you and reached over, tapping your knee with the back of his knuckle.
"What's that about?" he murmured, eyes on a red light.
"What do you mean?"
"You're bouncing."
Nerves sparked inside you. The truth was that you were terrified of shots, grown as you were, and telling Steve that sounded even more terrifying than the shot itself. You would grit your teeth and bear it. You did need to get one, better if it was free, so there was no sense in complaining. Plus, it would be embarrassing.
But you couldn't quell the nervous ache in your stomach.
"Nothing," you replied, stilling yourself. "I didn't even realize I was doing it."
Steve didn't press any further, but he kept his hand on your knee and kneaded circles into your skin with his thumb. His eyes were trained on you in the rearview mirror. Like he knew you were upset about something, but was worried to ask. To make it worse. The two of you hardly ever drove in silence.
The line at the pharmacy was achingly short. You reached the front of it in minutes. The cold, sterile air of the shop did nothing to quell your nerves. When you sat down in the red plastic seat, you felt like you were going to throw up. Your hands rattled.
"Woah," Steve muttered, two hands hovering over your shoulders. "Are you alright? What is it?"
"N-"
"Don't say nothing," he interrupted. "You look like you're gonna' pass out. What's wrong?" Still, when you didn't respond, he tucked his hand under your chin and lifted your eyes to him. "Tell me, please."
He looked at you with such worry you could have sobbed.
"I'm fine," you replied earnestly. Feeling guilty for scaring him. "I'm just nervous."
"For what? The shot?"
He said it with the tiniest grin- not teasing, only slightly amused. But it still stung you. It was a stupid thing to be scared of, and he had proven it. When his expression crumpled you knew he hadn't actually known this was it.
"Oh, shit. Sweetheart," he lamented.
The nurse returned. She rambled off a few notes to you; that it was good you were getting your shots before Christmas, that your arm might be sore later and that it was nothing to worry about. The whole time Steve was standing in front of you, chewing on his lip, dark brows drawn in nervous thought. A wall between you and the rest of the shop.
You would have laughed at his attentive stance had you not been so nervous. "Steve," you whispered, beckoning him to move closer to the chair and out of the center aisle.
He glanced behind him suddenly, like he hadn't realized he was taking up so much space. Then he moved in quickly beside you, placing a warm palm on the cap of your shoulder. He worked his thumb under your shirt to smooth the skin there.
Both happy and slightly more nervous with his fingers there, the nurse positioned the needle over the breadth of your arm. You sucked in a breath and prepared to screw your eyes shut, a wealth of panic inside you when Steve whispered-
"Look at that."
You opened your eyes and turned your head to look at him. You found him kneeling beside you with his mouth close to your ear, warm breath leaving the ghost of a sensation there. He pointed out into the shop. When you looked out, all you saw was aisles of antihistamines and a lengthening line of people waiting for shots.
"Where?" you whispered.
"There," he repeated, pointing down the aisle. "You don't see it?"
"See what?"
"All done," said the nurse.
You whipped your head around, shocked. To your surprise, she was already laying the empty syringe back on the tray and brushing a wet towelette over your arm. The skin was completely smooth. No blood. No sting. No nothing.
You glanced at Steve with an open mouth. "You..."
He simply patted your shoulder and wrapped his hand around your bicep, willing you to stand. He clicked his tongue. "My turn."
You were barely in the car after Steve's shot when he grabbed your cheeks and kissed you; one long, slow, unmoving kiss. When he let go your head was practically spinning, but he was looking at you with intent focus.
"Don't do that," he said.
"Do what?"
He grabbed your cheeks again and pressed a long kiss to your forehead, fingers spanning the length of your face.
"If you're worried about something, I want you to tell me."
"Oh," you leaned back, almost dismissive. "Steve, it's okay."
"No!" he griped. "Are you kidding me? I feel awful. That was awful. I felt so bad for you."
"Steve," you nearly laughed. "It's really okay."
"Seriously, my stomach hurts," he retorted. "Don't do that. Next time- well, there won't be one, I guess. But don't feel like you can't tell me things. I don't know."
"I do tell you things," you replied softly. Smiling. His tangent continued.
"That was bad. I'm going to feel bad about that for the rest of my life."
"Steve."
He stilled, turning to you. His expression softened but the worry was still there in his eyes, intent on your nose, then your cheeks and lips. Examining you. He raised his hand flat to your cheek and brushed a finger over your nose- a habit he had picked up, which you didn't quite understand, but certainly didn't mind.
"I'm sorry. I feel like I should have been able to tell," he said earnestly.
"No. I didn't tell you. Plus, we needed to get them."
"Yeah, I know, but we...we could've waited a day, or something. I could have helped you."
"You did help me."
He stared at you for a moment more. When you grinned at him, the resolve in his eyes practically melted right in front of you.
"Whatever. Do you want ice cream?"
"You just want to buy me ice cream so you don't feel bad anymore."
"Of course I do. And because I love you. Do you want it or not?"
All of these things were true. "Yeah," you shrugged.

I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS SCENE.
(warning: a lot of joel hate below)
*clears throat*
So. I want to focus on Joel and Lenny in response to Midge getting heckled.
Midge very clearly has a handle on things. This guy is being a dick, and she’s able to roast him very effectively in contrast to how she dealt with hecklers earlier in the season - see 1x05: Doink (except don’t because that whole episode is cringeworthy).
Joel’s immediate response is to defend her honor. Now, I know a lot of people would go, Aww that’s because he loves her. He’s protecting her.
And to that, I say look at Lenny.
Lenny's watching her, enjoying her work (you can see him laugh a few times). He’s not jumping in. You can attribute that to the fact that he’s also a comic. He understands hecklers and knows it’s part of the game. Knowing how to deal with people not liking your act (even - and especially - if it is funny) is important for a comedian.
Now I direct you to the second gif.
When the heckler stands, Lenny’s face changes. He’s watching the guy because while he knows Midge can handle herself, he also knows there are people who get physically aggressive, and there’s no way this ‘cute uptown chick’ can take this guy in a fight. There’s clearly mild concern on his face.
There’s also obvious admiration because Midge got under the guy’s skin. She won.
Midge is his friend. Nothing’s happened. Lenny’s still wearing a wedding ring (even though he and Honey got divorced in 1957 irl, but I digress), so we can assume he’s not thinking about ever pursuing something more than friendly.
But if the guy had charged the stage, I’m pretty sure Lenny would have stepped in and taken that punch for her, maybe even punched the guy first. Joel might have, too, but Lenny’s only a few feet away, and Joel’s across the bar.
Third gif.
When the guys leave, Lenny watches them go. He relaxes a bit, but it’s obvious he’s making sure they’re actually getting out. He’s still got his hackles raised enough, but once again, he respects Midge enough to let her fight her own battles.
And then there’s Joel. *sigh*
Joel watches this all go down. He saw his ex-wife engaged in friendly conversation (read: banter) with his comedy hero, and that clearly got under his skin. Then she went up on stage and roasted him and his mistress for a while, which continued to bother him.
He just watched her obliterate this guy and take care of herself, and that made him angry. Because as far as Joel is concerned, Midge needs him, and watching her handle herself without him is the final straw.
The guy is angry and aggressive, and he doesn’t respect Midge. He views her as his. His to defend, his to provide for (and if you don’t agree with that, Michael Zegen even said at the Emmys that Joel is very protective of his girl, to which we got a very shady - and very attractive - eyebrow raise from Luke Kirby).
It kills Joel to see her being self-sufficient because it means she doesn’t need him anymore. He sucked at providing for her. He sucked at taking care of her. The one thing he can still do for her is punch a guy who’s being a dick to her.
So he does it to make himself feel better.
When he gets pulled off of the guy outside, he says, She’s good. She’s fucking good and gets really, really sad about it. Like, the guy is crying.
That punch wasn’t in defense of Midge. That punch was because he needs to believe that he still has a purpose in her life outside of being a punchline.
You will never convince me that Joel didn’t, for even a split second, imagine it was Midge he was punching in that moment.
She’s up there, telling jokes that are a million times funnier than anything he could ever write, and she’s doing it off the cuff. She’s just being herself. Making fun of her pain - the pain he caused, by the way - and she’s funnier than he could ever hope to be.
Look, Joel might love her, but he doesn’t respect her. In this scene, Lenny doesn’t love her (yet), but he respects her. And that is crucial.
Midge doesn’t need a man, but if she wants one (and clearly she does), he has to respect her as her own person, believe in her and her ability take care of herself, but also be there for her when she needs it. Now, who does that describe?
Lenny, who shows up in her life at the most seemingly random times? Lenny, who stands outside a hotel room waiting for her to make the move and then letting her walk away without pushing any further? Lenny, who keeps a respectful distance in his hotel room because he never ever wants her to feel like he’s pushing her into anything?
Or Joel, who hasn’t even bothered in four seasons to apologize for the absolutely degrading way in which he left her?

"About the Blogger" meme
Aw thank you for tagging me @happylikeasadsong and @currymanganese . Belatedly getting around to this.
Star Sign(s): Cancer sun, Cancer moon, Taurus rising. Water and earth, yo! It gets muddy over here. A decent amount of fire and air in my whole chart, too.
Favorite Holidays: Christmas, it's the lights and Ave Maria and Joy to the World what can I say.
Last Meal: Burmese mango chicken and coconut rice with browned coconut flakes on top of the rice. Delish! I would eat that coconut rice every day, just by itself. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Current Favorite Musician: First Aid Kit is a current favorite, love sister duos. Khruangbin has been an obsession for awhile.
Last Music Listened To: Monster Rally. Lately I need no lyrics. Just take me away please. Into the stars, into the universe.
Last Movie Watched: well the fam bam was out of the house so I took advantage to leisurely wrap presents, sip my bevvie, and watch not one but two xmas movies back to back. Last Christmas and Love Hard. Both were fun! Last Christmas: it got me at being an homage to George Michael songs the whole way through. Love Hard: catfishing turned love story, okaaaayy, I'm with you. These holiday romcoms though, wince, cringe, love you/hate you.
Last TV Show Watched: I finally started Pen15 and it is EEK watching these adult actors play this young age so well, it is so wild. I'm also slowly watching Only Murders in the Building (do I like it? I think so… Selena Gomez is killin it and I gotta say I love her makeup line) and also Not Dead Yet (hmm, didn't realize there was a death theme). I just really enjoy Gina Rodriguez and it’s a fun sitcom and makes me miss Jane the Virgin.
Randomly found Crashing from 2016—Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s writing had me belly laughing in a few spots and I almost want to say I'd have preferred this show to continue with another season than Flea Bag getting two seasons, which I rewatched a few eps of to remind myself and compare with Crashing, and while FB was such a good show that got acclaim, like Crashing is sort of the funnier prequel (for PWB?) with an ensemble cast? And fuckin Jonathan Bailey is in it? Both lead characters played by PWB are annoying af to me, probably in a good way.
I hope to get through all these but the Bear has me fixated.
Last Book/Fic Finished: Ok well let me pull out my dusty kindle now to see what I last read. All really good recent reads: If I Survive You, True Biz, Black Cake, Kindred, the Book of Form and Emptiness, the Island of Sea Women. Okay, I feel I need another worthy book to maybe offset my Sydcarmy obsession. These were good books. Books are good. Note to self: read a book!!!!!!!
Last Book/Fic Abandoned: I'm a mama, I can't tell you what fics I like best and which I abandoned!?!? I love all your fics my sydcarmys and honestly I want to read more. Last book I abandoned: What Fresh Hell is This. It's a funny and serious book about menopause that I started reading it to see if I could recommend to a client because I haven't been througu it, but I just can't yet. Glad it's out there tho. One day.
Currently Reading: Nothing. I'm waiting for something good. I need something good. I'm afraid to start more sydcarmy fics because then I won't sleep til 3am.
Last Thing Researched for Art/Writing/Hyperfixation: Never you mind
Favorite Online Fandom Memory: Being in an online fandom is actually pretty new for me, I’m sort of an oldie and I’ve been missing out. Just finding the sydcarmy tag has been revolutionary. It’s so fun, mind blowing, brain rotting, and I respect y’all so much.
Favorite Old Fandom You Wish Would Drag You Back In/Have A Resurgence: Since I mentioned it already: Jane the Virgin, and I'm guessing it had a divided ship fandom, and I could personally never decide who I liked best for Jane even though SPOILERS I knew Rafael was endgame. I hated what they did to Michael, HATED it. (SPOILERS let him RIP.) Not saying I’d want a resurgence, more that I wish I’d been there because I was so alone in my angst over obvious endgame guy versus so much unexpected chemistry with the other guy and they like worked that into the show and made me wonder if they were gonna change their minds about who was endgame? That was enticing and nerve wracking. Also I ship the three generations of women and, Rogelio with himself, but with Xiomara, too.
Favorite Thing You Enjoy That Never Had an Active or Big "Fandom" but You Wish It Did: I don't know. I really want to have a good answer. I was not here. I seriously thought tumblr was a dating app for like the longest time. What a dummy. I needed this.
Tempting Project You're Trying to Rein In/Don't Have Time For: I am my own tempting project.

Just wanted to say that I’ve loved reading your TVD recaps! I haven’t done a full rewatch of the show in ages (I mostly just rewatch my favorite Steroline episodes lol), so it’s nice to get a refresher on all the batshit stuff that happened over the years haha. Can’t wait until you get to season 6!
Thanks Anon! I have never done this before either, I always watched the show live (or a few days after) from the pilot to finale so doing it all as a binge has been fun. I think I've picked up on stuff the show does that I didn't notice before, like the foreshadowing that Stefan was going to leave the triangle in S4. I'm up to S5 now and even though I know they foreshadowed Steroline watching it in a binge is like wow, they really built that up piece by piece. Even S3 which has like nothing with them their storylines have parallels i.e. torture jail, Klaus, their vampirism and coming to terms with it. Then you get S4 and S5 and the progression from friends > sober sponsor > best friends > maybe something more. The plot can definitely go off the rails though and there's a few side plots I've just decided to ignore because they bore me. I think what the show did best is have a lot of nuance with it's romantic entanglements and that's why shipping and ship wars were (and still are!) so heated. It's also much funnier than people give it credit for, there's been a few instances where I have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.
I am so excited to get to S6!! It's my favorite season, I really like S2 as well but S6 was a good storyline, great villain AND my OTP became canon. Plus Caroline really got to shine that season. My recaps for S6 are gonna be so long I'm sure lol

2022 TV Recap
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but I wanted to bring back something I used to quite enjoy doing! Reviewing and ranking the best TV I watched in a given year, that is. I kept track of all the new TV I watched last year on Twitter with the intention of picking a top 10 or top 5 episodes at the end. But after giving it some thought, I want to try something a little different. Since the pool is actually a lot smaller than I thought it would be and I don’t particularly have the motivation to rank all the episodes anyway, I’ve decided it might be better if I simply recap and review the shows I watched last year and list a few standout episodes at the end! With that explanation out of the way, let’s get into it.
The Shows
This Is Us (Season 6)- One of the most talked about (and cried about) shows of the past decade came to an end in 2022, and I can honestly say it was pretty spectacular! The main focus of this season was how the Pearson family handled Rebecca’s declining health, and it was pretty effective. The performances all around were incredible, but I was especially stunned that Mandy Moore didn’t get her long overdue Emmy win or even a nomination! She’s long deserved it, and it’s a shame the show has ended without her getting that recognition. I know some fans said this season (particularly the finale) lacked some of the flashiness one might expect, especially considering how long they’d been planning this ending. But honestly, I can’t imagine a more perfect way to end this cozy, emotional family drama than what we got. Was it the best season of This Is Us overall? Maybe not. But it was certainly a very good one, and immensely satisfying in a number of different ways.
Ghosts (US) (Seasons 1B and 2A)- I decided to tune into Ghosts when it premiered in the fall of 2021 because it looked like a lot of fun and I’m a big fan of Rose McIver. Having never seen the British version, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I’m so glad I tuned in! The beginning of season 1 is a little bit rough around the edges. But as the show has grown into itself and found its own voice, it’s become a true delight! Throughout the second half of season 1 and first half of season 2, the show just kept getting funnier and sweeter! I love all the ghosts, I love Sam and Jay, and I’m excited to see what fun stories the writers come up with now that the B&B has been fully operational for a bit. If you like charming, hilarious stories about a group of people who love each other having wacky adventures, this show might be for you!
Good Trouble (Season 4)- Good Trouble continues to be one of the best shows not enough people are talking about. I know a lot of fans were nervous going into this season when it was announced that Maia Mitchell would be leaving, but I think the writers handled it very well. The Coterie crew still feels like the Coterie crew! One thing that stood out to me the most was the character growth. Everyone feels so grown up and mature compared to when we first met them 4 years ago! Alice standing up for herself and regaining her confidence as a performer! Malika figuring herself out and making smart career moves while also not losing the passion for social justice that makes her who she is! Davia standing up to her mom, setting boundaries in her relationships, and finally having the courage to stop beating around the bush with Dennis! Gael becoming a father!! There’s a lot to look forward to in season 5, including the resolution of that insane cliffhanger, and I can’t wait!
Raven’s Home (Season 5)- I’m actually...not fully caught up on Raven’s Home. Oops! But I have watched enough of the season to be able to say that I’ve really enjoyed it! I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel given the huge changes that were made and the absence of some beloved characters. I’m happy to say the show still brings a huge smile to my face! Ivy, Neil, and Alice are my children and they must be protected at all costs! And bringing Alana back as the principal was a brilliant choice!
So You Think You Can Dance (Season 17)- I enjoyed this season of SYTYCD. I did! I really liked the cast and there were some really great routines! Unfortunately, there were some things that disappointed me as well. For one, it was way too short. They’d been doing shorter seasons with smaller casts for a few years, but something about this season felt extra rushed and condensed. It felt like we barely had time to get to know the dancers before we were down to the final few. Additionally, as much as I tried to put a positive spin on it when it was first announced, limiting the voting to just the studio audience was not a great choice. If Fox can’t give SYTYCD the time and freedom it needs to truly live up to the potential of the format, maybe they shouldn’t have brought it back at all. That’s not to say I won’t be tuning in for season 18, which I assume is happening. Let’s hope the network hears the fans out!
Only Murders in the Building (Season 2)- I absolutely LOVED the first season of OMITB, and season 2 was also excellent! Funny, an acceptable amount of suspense, some great twists, and excellent character work! I’m not sure the mystery was quite as well crafted as the first season, but that didn’t make it any less engaging to watch. Really looking forward to season 3!
Reboot (Season 1)- As a TV nerd and a sitcom nerd specifically, there’s pretty much no way I wasn’t going to check this one out! It’s about the cast of a fictional sitcom from the 2000s coming back together to do a reboot. I expected it to be a silly good time, but it’s also surprisingly deep. It’s very funny, that’s for sure, but there’s also some great character work and satire going on, too. I recommend checking it out!
The Standout Episodes
“Kiss Me and Smile for Me” (Good Trouble 4x02)- How do you properly say goodbye to a character that’s been a huge part of your life for the better part of a decade? As a writer, as an actor, or as a fan? That was the task Good Trouble was presented with when Maia Mitchell decided she would be departing the role of Callie Adams Foster, and I think the writers did a very admirable job! The episode did a good job of closing this chapter of Callie’s life while making it clear that she has a very bright future ahead of her. From the goodbyes Callie got to have with each member of the Coterie crew, to the sometimes complicated but always heartwarming bond between the Adams Foster sisters, to the callback to Callie and Mariana’s first party at the Coterie, it was a truly lovely episode from start to finish! Callie Adams Foster will always be a very special character to me and watching her growth from the terrified teenager who didn’t believe she was worthy of love or a family to the confident woman who got on that plane to DC was incredible. I hope we get to see some more guest appearances before the show eventually ends!
“Miguel” and “The Train” (This Is Us 6x15 and 6x17)- Death and grief have always been themes that This Is Us has been pretty skilled at handling, but these two episodes took that to another level. First, we got “Miguel,” an immensely moving portrait of a character that never got the love he deserved from the fandom. I honestly believe Jack would be thrilled that his two best friends eventually ended up together. Miguel was there for Rebecca when she needed him the most and he was there was for her until his final days. And then there’s “The Train.” The fact that the show wasn’t nominated in multiple Emmy categories for this episode alone baffles me. Visually stunning, incredibly well written, and impeccably performed. Truly the sendoff Rebecca Pearson so richly deserved.
“Flipping the Pieces” (Only Murders in the Building 2x07)- It’s kind of hard to pick a favorite episode from OMITB season 2, but I think this one fits the bill. Mabel and Theo make a great duo, both comedically and dramatically! And I absolutely loved the metaphor of the puzzle pieces as it relates the repression of traumatic memories. The one thing I may have changed is the way Mabel kept talking at Theo even after he specifically told her he couldn’t pick up much of what she was saying just by reading her lips. But I get why the writers probably thought it was necessary and seeing her learn a little bit of ASL along the way was very sweet!
There you have it! Looking forward to another year of great TV!

Yep
They were unambiguous platonic side of LS for a long time
Yep
And this was not considered a dead side of the LS and the LS itself was not dead because of it
That makes sense to me
So, with platonic Ladynoir, they're fine, right?
No, Ladynoir and LS are dead
No jokes, some of them consider the whole love square dead because LN is not canon. Although it wasn't even canon: it's just a one-sided love that was turned upside down for a short time until circumstances that were completely understandable from the point of view of the characters forced them to simply move on. Nothing, the main part of their life is spent in civilian personalities. It might just be me, but I don't think it's such an important part of Marinette's life that she plans to always be a superhero. We've never seen any clear relationship plans in canon with how she will balance her future with Adrien and her work as a superhero. Maybe she doesn't plan being the superhero, after she gets the Butterfly Miraculous. Maybe she'll give the Miraculous to Su-Han, maybe she'll just hide them or just wear them as jewelry until she needs them again. In general, it is difficult to say how it will be further in her opinion, because she, unlike her civilian life, did not plan anything, which already hints that this aspect of her life is not permanent, but let's say: "voluntary-forced". In addition, she strongly separates these two aspects of her life.
Considering that many of them consider Ladybug to be "true self" (with some of this ship criticizing the MC states for this theory) it seems that they only see the two as superheroes for the most part and nothing more. The whole "true selves" is purely "the part of their personality that I highly favor" and/and "the part of their personality that makes up my favorite dynamic, because I'm a big stan." Although even in the case of LN, it's just a version of the ship full of headcanons from season 1, which they will slowly throw in other points of their dynamics and try to make them canon, even if they are not.
I definitely agree that it's weird that people are up in arms over LN being platonic when MC has been fine for years. MC not being requited at all in canon prior to s5 didn't stop them and none of them ever thought their ship was less than or dead. Even after canon expressly said that their side can't be together on screen, MC stans focused on the kiss. They're built different, and also unhinged.
It's very weird to me. Like, I understand s4 was hard to watch for LN stans, but I think a lot of them blocked out what happened last season between them. LN has always had a bantering, flirtatious partner dynamic up until last season because that's a trope of the genre. But LN was always one-sided. The LS got flipped on its head finally, and the writers made a firm decision. We've been begging for the end of will-they-won't-they since s2. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I didn't actually care which side got together first. Or if it happened pre reveal. Like, if they had decided to go with LN this season I wouldn't have cried about it? Sure, I'm happy it's my favorite side, but I wouldn't have been mad if it wasn't. The kids are happy, why would I be mad?
As for Marinette and future plans, I mean, I don't think she dislikes being a hero. She has certainly been given more than she should have to handle, but I think she is fine being Ladybug. And we know from s3, that they are still LB and CN in the future as adults, likely still with their friends having other miraculouses since Bunnix said she was the last resort of the team. I think it's just something she hasn't had time to think about because she is too busy trying to not get her shit stolen again atm and also fighting her boyfriend's dad for custody.
The true selves shit does make me laugh though. It always has because it's not rooted in canon, and the fact that people believe with their whole chests that it is just makes it funnier. Like how many fucking times does canon have to say it before that theory dies? Watching things with your eyes open is hard, I guess 😂 Because you're right. True selves is nothing. It's just code for "this is my favorite side, so I think they're the best." But instead of just saying that, they do a lot of mental gymnastics to make their side seem like it's better than all the others when it's literally just the same shit in a different color. The true selves shit dissolves the second you start seeing the LS as one ship rather than 4 ships. Because there is no logical way to defend it after that. There just isn't.

So last week I found myself in bed with the plague and I realised I had seen maybe one Batman movie in my life, so a week and a half later and here are my thoughts.
Batman reviews:
Batman; the old one with the joker.
Felt very long, Vicky Vale was very irritating, Batman/Bruce Wayne was good but not in the movie very much. Did not like the joker. Very amusing because of oldness. 4/10
Batman returns; the one with animal themed villains.
Very Tim Burton, better than the first one but still felt too long. The penguin was disgusting, sherck(was that his name?) was weird, and catwoman was good 80% of the time and very weird the rest.  6/10
Batman; the one with the riddler and two face.
Very fast, colourful and funny. Definitely an improvement on the first two. The villains were the best bit, everyone else was boring or annoying. Robin should have been younger, around 12 not 20.
7/10
Batman and Robin; the worst one, but not by much.
Not as bad as I expected but definitely not good. Wow Robin is annoying, and batman is just, there, looking like he doesn't care about anything. The villains were entertaining, but not enough to save the movie. Oh and Alfred's niece was also there.
4/10
Batman begins; the one with LIAM NEESON
Finally an actually good movie. I don't have much to say, it was a good movie. I do think batman should be smarter, he should invent his own stuff not find it all already existing in an old garage. And the villains plan had allot of holes in it.
9/10
The Dark Knight; the one you have definitely heard quoted even if you don't realise it came from a Batman movie.
Overrated. Definitely good, but not fun enough, all the other movies have been fun and this one is just grim. I understand why people like this movie but it is exactly the type of film I avoid watching. (ie. Dark, gritty and about "society" and "humanity" )
8/10
The Dark Knight rises; the one with Bane.
Batman retired!? Batman shouldn't retire he should be Batman until he dies! or is replaced. This movie was more fun so it gets points for that. I think the twist where Talia (was that her name? I'm not looking it up) was evil was a good twist (as in it made sense and wasn't just "aha! Out of nowhere she is evil now" )
8/10
Batman vs Superman; Zzzzzzzzzzzz
Boring.
So incredibly boring.
And Superman should smile more I thought he was supposed to be the opposite of batman. 5/10
The Batman; the best one.
Beautiful cinematography, I was never bored. Actual detectiveing. Good characters, as in I believed they were real people and I want to know what happens to them. Very visually interesting action. And a good mystery. 10/10
The lego Batman
Very funny, I have watched this before but now I get the references and that just makes it funnier. 9/10
The animated one where Robin dies and then becomes a villain,
This was so much better than I expected. The intro was chilling, the story was good and the end was sad. I don't think it would have worked in liveaction but I am biased towards animation to start with. 8/10
Titans; the TV show you forgot existed if you knew about it in the first place.
Not good but I can't stop watching it, also not really a Batman thing but Bruce Wayne was in a few episodes so I am counting it.
I watched the first season 2 years ago, and I stopped because it was depressing. Now I am watching it but (deliberately) not caring what happens to the characters and its a lot more fun. 5/10 although I haven't finished it yet so it might get worse.

Yay for Kids in the Hall fans. If you haven't already been asked: 💃🛼
yay kids in the hall fans!!! it's been so cool getting to find new people through this ask game
💃Which actor’s female characters are your favorite?
probably bruce (he's very pretty as a girl and i'm obsessed with the "bruce girl renaissance" that happened at the beginning of season 4 where he played at least one female role in every episode for a long stretch. also obsessed with tammy)
Tumblr media
her mind <3
tho also in the spirit of me accidentally writing essay-length ramblings about scott thompson maybe i should write an essay about my observation that most of scott's female characters have this "arrogant yet supportive" quality to them where they're very self assured but also hype up the character they're with in almost every scene. like just thinking about how cathy looks out for kathie, or maudre looks out for jocelyn, or hell even the unnamed female characters in the mouth congress song "two hot girls." idk if it's a conscious writing thing (i was going to ask paul bellini about this when i interviewed him but i forgot lmao) but idk i just find it very sweet. also my mom's favorite kids in the hall character is fran (she's quoted the salty ham sketch all the time since i was a little kid) so yeah. my answer is bruce girl supremacy but scott girls are special too
🛼Opinions on the revival season?
I loved it!!! Of course, there are a few things that annoyed me but tbh judging from interviews all of those things were either caused by the pandemic (they wanted to bring back the live audience but couldn't with covid restrictions, if they get a season 7 they're adding back in live sketches) or amazon's censorship. so yeah the circumstances surrounding it certainly prevented it from being the best it could have been but all things considered i'm so happy it exists and the kids have honestly only gotten funnier with age. combined with comedy punks, this whole kids in the hall revival is what actually finally motivated me to dive into kids in the hall last summer (combined with the fact that i didn't have anything better to do lmao) so i'm very happy it exists
specific opinions:
opinion on the opening: i loved it, the brain candy commentary was great and i loved that they dug them back out of the grave from the finale. also hi bellini!
opinions on the dicks: not the funniest sketch but also i didn't hate it/wasn't grossed out by the nudity. it was okay.
opinions on the new buddy cole: this is a dangerous thing to ask me lmao do you want me to write a whole essay on this man for the fourth time???? but long story short i cried when he got his bar back and i truly hope we see more of him soon
opinions on the zoom call sketch: i thought it was a very funny premise and very well executed but holy shit that was the most awkward thing i've ever watched with my parents in the room
favorite new sketches: imaginary girlfriend, inside a kevin mcdonald sketch, doomsday dj (of course)
favorite recurring character sketches: fran and gordon (i laughed so fucking hard every single time i watched it i love them so much), also ngl scott was absolutely beautiful as francesca fiore
thing that annoyed me most: i never liked the "friends of kids in the hall" segments. it always felt way too SNL which is not what i come to kids in the hall for. some of the cameos were cool, but i deserve to be on that segment more than pete davidson (hashtag get magentagalaxies on kids in the hall revival season 2!! i mean come on i'm already a "friend of bellini" /hj)
apologies for the essay but thank you for asking!!
send me an emoji for kids in the hall opinions

Since the new Quantum Leap show just started the other week, I finally watched the first couple of episodes of the original. I've always been interested in the show's premise and while the introductory episode was a little confusing at first, it made Sam's confusion really relatable. I definitely enjoyed the the episodes I've seen thus far.
Al is a little irritating, but I can see how he fit the mold of a popular character type from the 90s. Little kid me probably would have found him funnier than adult me does. Sam, however, is a pretty interesting character and I'm looking forward to finding out what why he tested out the the leap technology early and about the quantum leap project itself. I do know some spoilers about the show, like there are other leapers that show up and apparently he fights the devil? It sounds fascinating and ridiculous and I look forward to seeing it play out. Though I also know Sam's story ends with him never coming home, so I'm not expecting a resolution where his travels come to an end.
Though I've got to admit, Sam's anxiety over his memory problems and identity issues and his dysphoria over seeing faces in the mirror that aren't his own can be kinda distressing to watch. So I'll probably only be able to watch a few episodes at a time. But I do want to try and finish S1 before I check out the new show.
Apparently the new show is a soft-reboot style sequel where a new team has restarted the time travel project Sam and Al were a part of and a new person will become a leaper, getting lost in time similar to how Sam was. It'd be interesting if he were to run into Sam out there at some point in a later season. Even if it never happens on the show, I can already practically see the fanfiction being written for that very scenario. (Who knows, maybe I'll write some of it, if I enjoy the show enough.)

Chobblesome
Honestly while I was catching up with Grian I think a week ago or something since I was finally getting into his content to where I just watched through all the 3rd Life series [honestly I had zero idea when it happened in between Hermitcraft seasons and didn't want it to be spoiled to me before I even saw it so I just did that and then watched the hermitcraft seasons from Grian's POV]
And in that chaos where honestly I just ignored social media and any messages because I had to actually watch through it or I'd probably never get anywhere and ended up taking a break on a platform to actually fully watch it all lmao-
I just. Chobblesome. I think I was gonna google it but then I just kinda.. forgot? And then I did and like.
..Did Grian actually make a word that's been registered or whatever people do for words to be valid? I dunno I'm just seeing stuff where apparently it was on I think the wikipedia or something at one point, and it's actually on the urban dictionary--
UH.
On a funnier note there's like a bunch of the same definition underneath it that I think were meant for different definitions but I don't use urban dictionary so I have zero idea how it works.
Also I've realized the lack of use for the word chobblesome and I just. I've never encountered a fic that uses the word chobblesome [then again, not sure what situation you'd need to be in where a character would need to say it for its meaning], and maybe I'm just looking in the wrong areas.
Also.. what if people just used the word Chobblesome in like some school essay lmao. Do you think the teachers would count chobblesome as an actual word? ..probably not. Would it be funny? Probably. Would we lose points?
Zero idea.
Honestly I don't know if anyone has done it but I kinda want someone to and then post the reaction somewhere, or like if they got any notes or subtracted points due to 'made up word' lmaoo. bonus points if there's like a note somewhere from the person who's doing the work about what the word actually means lmao
(if anyone asks, say it was the man in the chicken costume /j)
Actually that'd probably be really confusing, but just imagine. It'd be like an inside joke for all of us hermits except probably like no one would understand what you mean when you try to use it irl or something haha.

finally started the boys season 3!! nobody cares but here are my thoughts, writing as i watch.
- frenchie serving gender as always
- hughie just fuckin. standing in the background of a-train’s red carpet interview took me out
- extreme sounding
- actually since we’re on the topic i find it interesting that there’s so much more male nudity than female nudity in this show? like yeah dicks are just generally funnier and better for comedic effect but. i can’t think of any time i’ve seen an exposed boob or pussy that wasn’t just in the background of a shot. idk i’m for sure looking too much into this but for a show that has so much filth and depravity i just like it that they never (or at least haven’t yet) used the female body to be pandering or exploitative.
- m.m. stop being the best character challenge oh wAIT THAT’S NEVER GONNA HAPPEN
- m.m.’s daughter being dressed as starlight..... this means something but i’m not analyzing it now
- kimiko seemingly using music as an outlet/metaphor to represent her feelings on communication means so much to me
- GOD IM SO FUCKING HAPPY RYAN IS ALIVE AND HEALTHY
- so SO happy annie is in her normal suit
- and her hair looks soooo much nicer this season thank FUCK
- i know that neuman is like. maybe a bad guy? bc shes the head exploder but i don’t care she’s very likable
- jealousy isn’t a good look on hughie. like. at all.
- if hughie goes on some kind of Insecure Arc this season he’s really gonna piss me off
- hughie campbell you were destined to be a malewife, there’s no use in trying to change your fate
- girl not homelander body shaming a-train??? damn
- AAAAKDJ WHAT?, STORMFRONT’S ALIVE IM GONNA FUCKING KILL MYSE
- stop stop stop st
- this show doesn’t Get To Me often but babe.. that handjob made my body turn inside out
- uh oh!! first mention of soldier boy!!!!
- wait I heard that maeve and butcher fuck at some point is this the scene?
- ok it isn’t
- butcher has a fucking bulldog cookie jar im gonna faint
- i think if i ever met the guy who plays homelander in real life id shit my organs clean out
- i know it’s just standard villain/adversary talk but homelander’s talking like he wants to fuck butcher fr
- wait woah neuman (nadia?)’s powers are so cool actually

Shovelwarewolf Season 3
Oh boy the season where things got really interesting, an actual antagonist with a face and everything?, a new location for our favorite angry werewolf?, ALIENS! Excellent season in my book and lets get into why.
E.T the Extra-Terrestrial: Great opener, I love the theme of this season being infamously bad games fits well with Biffalo's whole schtick. I love the back and forth they have with each other. I love the scene where Ivan resolves to get out of the pit, fails once and tries again, and then fails a second time and then rages, just felt really real.
Super Man 64: Another great episode, the Martha bit was maybe a little on the nose, but I still find it funny. I love SWW's commitment to this three-hole punch bit, it starts out as a regular SWW threat, but the fact that he keeps building on it slays me. I love SWW's dramatics in this episode. Plus we get more evidence on the Star Fox Adventures theory.
Night Trap: Ah yes, the game that would turn everyone into serial killing rapists according to the government. Solid episode, like the CDI Zelda games, the dialogue makes SWW's quips even better. I love that Biffalo finally acknowledges the whole glass shattering thing, and his random story about eating a run-over waffle. Gotta love SWW's total pettiness with the vase. He also gave a pretty solid "Reason you suck speech" to that weird general guy. Plus this is the first time we've actually seen Ivan playing a game as a human since Mortal Kombat Mythologies just thought it was cool. And of course the ending twist with Bubsy, so good.
Bubsy 3D: Oh my what a terrible game, it actually hurts thinking about playing it. This is a pretty ok episode, its best parts are in the beginning when we get Biffalo's true motives (seriously he wants to take pictures with kids someone stop him) and the ending when he's so pissed about losing his custom Bubsy Playstation. Plus his utter glee at Bubsy is pretty funny. We also get a solid cliffhanger at the end.
Link the Faces of Evil: Oh what an excellent sequel to last season, the dialogue is only funnier with the slam poetry, reused cutscenes, and SQUADALA WE ARE OFF! I love this episode so much it has great one liners and an acknowledgment of Susan (I remember watching the episode and thinking the exact thing when he said it). I also Love the Shawshank tribute and the chase through the dessert that ends with him being abducted, it probably made no sense to people at the time, but it's so freaking funny.
The Grinch: We've now arrived at the season finale, it's pretty good I like the animations for Mr. Wolf. The setup is decent, not revealing too much of the aliens yet while still giving us a plausible way for him to play games (of course his coma dreams involve shovelware). I know it was meant to serve the Grinch parody, but SWW without a lab coat or otherwise just looks wrong. So Cindy Lou Rareware is a neat character, but she reminds me so much of this girl I knew in middle school it's a little jarring. The ending always makes me feel a little hopeless, like dang the guy is just stuck.
Music:
Season 3 Opening: Oh what a great intro. The strings in the beginning and the banjo, folksy style really sell the creepy vibes of Buffalo Bub and the season's setup.
Season 3 Transformation: It's pretty good, I like the guitar in it. It doesn't really do a whole lot but it serves the purpose very well.
Demented Furry: Excellent villain theme for Biffalo. It gives off a great mistrusting and creepy feel that goes great with our Bubsy obsessed hillbilly.
Demented Furry (Choir Version): Same song, but with a slower piano and an awesome sounding choir behind it. Very foreboding.
Live or Die: Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh. This song man. THIS SONG! It goes so freaking hard. The metal guitar riffs, the brass, the synth it all comes together so well. I never paid much attention to it until now and I fell in love. It completely creates a great climatic tension to a very tense scene.
Mr. Wolf: It's a Grinch parody. Does a great job especially when coupled with the animation. The singer is so petty with lines like, "Someone should through you back in a 39 and a half foot hole" like dude that probably traumatized him, lay off.
Couch Gag: This is a pretty good one, just Biffalo Bub being Biffalo Bub and playing with action figures (I feel like AJ improvised these, not in a bad way just that this feels like stuff he'd come up with on the fly). The last one was honestly so real, like you'd think that you'd make your "if you're watching this I'm dead video" a little funny to lighten the mood, but I mean, it would probably just bum me out too.
So ye overall, I love the season, great set, great tension, great villain, and horrible games. It also sets up a very good season coming up.
