Marked for Death pt 12
Chapter 11
After last night’s fiasco, Jason almost called his next patrol of. Much to his exasperation, Conan made a vehement argument against it. The kid had even threatened to make a powerpoint presentation on unstable hierarchies in gang-like communities, and Jason agreed to save himself the three hour lecture.
“Oh, I saw her a few times,”Conan added. They were eating fried rice on the couch, laptop with the results from the fingerprints queued up. Despite Jason’s insistence that they don’t work on cases during dinner, new information came to light right when they’d sat down to eat. Marcus had an impressive setup in one of Jason’s safe houses, which he used for any forensic work. Jason had provided him the supplies, but they’d rarely needed it. At most they used it to make and distribute Fear toxin antidote to the people in Crime Alley.
“Her?” Jason pointed, staring at the girl’s license photo and information on the screen. Her name was Sierra Rivers, 21 years old going to Gotham University. She had a little brother that lived with her parents in New York.
“Yeh, I saw her on the streets sometimes, going to the bus stop in the morning,”Conan frowned. “I didn’t know her name though.”
“Considering she went missing in the middle of the day, it’s safe to assume she was grabbed somewhere around the college,”Jason said. Which meant it wasn’t Killer Croc, since Waylon was never holed up in areas close to a lot of people and generally didn’t attack without provocation.
Conan put down his food and started typing on the laptop, bringing up missing persons reports and enrollments on campus. “Since she was a student at Gotham U, and went missing around the area, there could be more students that have gone missing.”
Jason hummed, keeping hold of Conan’s bowl so it didn’t fall off the couch. It reminded Jason that they needed to go back to the hospital for a regular checkup this time, because he was sure Conan was underweight. Conan pulled up students who had recently missed classes or had been reported missing, which pulled up two other students, both female.
“We might have a serial killer,”Conan commented, but before he could search more, Jason handed him his bowl.
“Eat first, search later,”Jason said, ignoring Conan’s disgruntled look. “But you did a good job.”
Conan didn’t respond to the compliment, but Jason smirked when he saw the tips of Conan’s ears turn red. “I uh, it just made sense.”
“You’re good at seeing patterns and connection,”Jason added, then something pinged in his head. “Is that how you knew I was robin before?”
Conan tilted his head,”I mean, yeah. I know everything,”Conan grinned, and Jason shoved him lightly. “Uh, well I actually figured out Batman’s Identity too, and you know, when you figure out one you can figure out all of them,”Conan stammered, rubbing the back of his neck. “And I may have.. Hacked the batcomputer a few times..” Conan mumbled and Jason let out a surprised bark of laughter.
“You hacked the batcomputer?”Jason repeated bewilderedly. He wondered abruptly just how smart his kid is. Either way, he’d support him in anything he wanted to do in life. Within reason, Jason amended, thinking of the robin suit.
“I covered my tracks!”Conan protested, and Jason ruffled his hair.
“I’m not worried, kiddo, just surprised,”Jason told him. He gathered their empty bowls to put into the sink. “Now, you wanna watch a movie before I have to go on patrol, or do you want computer time.”
Jason was not surprised in the least when the kid chose computer time. He sighed, thinking about his run in with the bats, and how he’d much rather watch a movie with his kid. Jason really didn’t want to get Conan involved with them, but he knew that Bruce wouldn’t let it go. He’d even found four trackers on his suit on his way to the apartment, and that told him Bruce would continue to keep bothering him. Considering his luck, Dick wouldn’t be too far behind, especially now that they knew his identity.
Jason had just left for patrol, and Tim was in bed. Granted, he was also in bed with the laptop. And a panic button and a taser taped under his bed. Tim was pretty sure there were a few knives around the house too but he didn’t think Jason wanted him to touch them. Tim however, knew exactly where they were and how to get to them, he just wasn’t going to tell Jason that.
Over the past week, Tim had gotten used to living with Jason. He had a routine, and it was something Tim appreciated. Jason knew he was smarter than the average five year old, so Tim had a bit more leeway when it came to supervision. He was starting to think Jason might be right though, in that Tim needed to get out of the house more often. He was bored, and a little stir-crazy. Not even hacking or working on cases alleviated the feeling for long.
Tim figured that now that he didn’t have to try and find his own food or anything on the streets, he’d started to relax. Jason helped stave the boredom away by cooking with Tim, and he wouldn’t admit it but he did have fun with the legos and puzzles. School was the one thing Tim was very adamant about not doing. He didn’t want to spend time with kids all day. Hell, Tim had never interacted with a child for more than a few hours at a gala his parents dragged him to or briefly as Robin to make sure they were okay.
Suffice to say, Tim had no idea how to act like a kid, and especially no idea how to play with other kids. Plus, he was busy! There were so many cases for Tim to work on here, and now he had puzzles and legos when he got bored. He’d probably be able to convince Jason to take him to the park or something if he got restless. Tim wondered if he could still skateboard when he was this small, but shook his head. It was probably better to distance himself from any Tim-like things, just in case.
Looking online, Tim was still not surprised that no one reported him missing. Sure, he’d missed school, but that wasn’t exactly new due to missions and stuff. Even if the school tried to call his parents, it would go straight to Tim’s voicemail. Same with emails.
However, Tim couldn’t really tell if Bruce noticed yet. Steph might’ve, but there wasn’t a high chance she would tell Bruce about Tim not answering her messages and missing school. He figured since she was the last one to see him before he was poisoned meant that she’d tell Bruce if he asked her. Two weeks and counting, Tim muttered to himself.
Back to the issue at hand, though. Ever since Gin and Vodka’s appearance, the Black Organization went back underground. They clearly didn’t like the attention from Red Hood, and didn’t want to risk Batman, especially since they’d also killed a semi-well- known teenager. It only worked in their favor that no one realized Tim was missing yet, and no one could connect the Black Organization to Tim.
At this point, all the possible evidence in that alley would have disappeared by now. Tim was pretty sure no one would think to look there either, given that there were relatively no cameras out on that street, and Tim had been avoiding the main roads on his trek home. Which, Tim was frustrated that he couldn’t figure out the Black Organizations whereabouts, but he also was a bit glad that no one would figure out his identity anytime soon. Timothy Drake had to stay dead, just for a while longer. Then no one would realize the connection between Robin and Tim, and Tim would be able to covertly investigate the Organization.
Tim just didn’t know how long that would take. However, his other plan for while he was a toddler included trying to get Bruce and Jason to patch up their relationship. It would be easier for Tim to do if he was five, given Bruce’s soft spot for kids. Jason would be able to bond with Bruce over having a kid, and then they would forget about Tim Drake. Probably. Of course, he didn’t want to be stuck as a first grader, but he wasn’t seeing any other option. The Organization would take a while to crack, and for now Tim was pretty happy living with Jason. It was likely that Jason thought he was a meta with an intelligence power, but he knew he’d have to act more like a child if he ever went to school or met other people. Especially Bruce.
A creak in the house startled Tim from his thoughts. Jason wasn’t supposed to be home for another few hours, and Jason usually came in from the front door. Tim hadn’t heard the door shut, and hadn’t received a notification that Jason was coming back yet. A quick glance to part of his screen showed Jason still by the docks. He quickly closed his laptop, listening intently to the rest of the apartment. Tim froze when he heard footsteps, and scrambled as quietly as he could to the side of his bed when he heard the footsteps coming closer to him. Tim crawled under the bed, retrieving the taser from in between the mattress and the bed frame.
Tim quieted his breathing as much as he could, huddled under the bed with the taser ready. He could hear the footsteps getting closer, but whoever it was hadn’t tried to open Tim’s door yet. He took that as an opportunity to rustle through the pocket of his pajama pants for the panic button and pressed it twice.
Jason had gone over the codes with him before. Once for immediate danger, twice for intruders, and three times for non-immediate emergencies. Tim knew the drill, but cursed his small size anyways when he realized he wouldn’t be able to fight off whoever was in the house. The taser was his only option for now, and then run and hide if he was able to. Which he was doing right now, hiding. Because he was infuriatingly small.
Tim nearly stopped breathing when he heard the door inch open. Almost silent footsteps followed, and Tim could make out black boots in the dark. His heart pounded in its chest, nd while he knew, statistically, that there was no way the Black Organization knew where he was and who he was, he couldn’t convince the rest of his body to calm down. No, most likely this was some burglar or someone who’d made enemies with Red Hood.
The boots paused at the foot of the bed and Tim held his breath and tried to stay calm. He had a plan. Use the taser, run for the door, and hide. Ideally, he could make it to Jason’s room and hide in the weapons closet. He’d never used a grenade before but Tim had seen some in there before. Not that he wanted to blow someone up but it would be a great intimidation tactic that Tim had thought about doing a concerning amount of times.
Before Tim could blink, the boots in front of him suddenly shifted, and a familiar face peeked under the bed. Tim couldn’t get anything other than a squeak out before a bright light was shone in his face, so he covered his eyes with his hands, but made sure the taser was still pointing. Nightwing muttered something along the lines of ‘holy shit’, but Tim wasn’t really paying attention.
Tim was too busy debating whether or not he should tase Dick if he got too close. He didn’t think Dick would try to drag him out forcefully, but he also wasn’t sure about Dick’s relationship with Red Hood. Did he know Red Hood was Jason? His formerly dead brother? Tim didn’t know what Dick was doing here, but figured his best bet to keep his and Jason’s identities a secret was if he acted like a scared, shy kid. Tim could do that, he thought. He was already pretty rattled from thinking he was about to get murdered.
“Hey there,”Dick cooed softly. There was something along the lines of trepidation and regret in his voice, and the flashlight moved out of Tim’s face. “I’m sorry if I scared you, but I promise I’m not gonna hurt you, okay?”
“I’m Nightwing,”Dick continued, seemingly unperturbed by Tim’s lack of response. “I’m a friend of your dad, Jason.”
Oh, Tim thought. So Dick did know Jason was Hood. And alive. Unless he thought Jason was a different Jason like Tim did initially. Though, judging by Dick’s pinched expression, he knew the truth. Tim just narrowed his eyes at Nightwing. He didn’t know what Dick’s plan was here, but if he could stall for a bit longer, Jason would come back and… well, Tim hoped he wouldn’t shoot Dick, but maybe he’d save him from this awkward situation.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to, but can you come out from under there?”Dick asked, and Tim shook his head. The motion disturbed the dust around him and Tim had to hold back a sneeze. “I promise I won’t touch you, I just want to make sure you’re okay. This is your room, right? What’s your name?”
Tim answered with a sneeze, and scowled when he caught sight of Dick cooing at him. Ugh, the woes of being so cute, Tim grumbled to himself. He looked down at the taser in his arms, debating if he should just tase Dick, but figured the guy would be able to dodge it. Unfortunately, it was getting harder to hold in his tiny hands given how weak his arms were and how heavy the taser was.
“Alright, that’s okay,”Dick reassured,”How long have you been in here?” He asked, and Tim wanted to roll his eyes. Leave it to Dick to think Jason was holding him captive. “Does anyone else live here with you?”
Tim shook his head, puzzled, and Dick deflated. “It’s just you? Have you seen another kid, black hair, blue eyes? He’s fifteen, so he’d be taller than you but shorter than Jason. I’ve been looking for him,”Dick pleaded and oh. He was looking for Tim, wasn’t he.
Tim shook his head, clutching the taser tighter, but making sure to keep the triggers away from his hands. Dick seemed to sigh, and then sat down criss-cross on the floor, angled at a way that was probably uncomfortable so he could see under the bed. “Okay, thats okay,”Dick said, still trying to be gentle to the toddler. “I just came here looking for him, and I didn’t mean to scare you, so I’m sorry about that.”
Before Tim could even think of responding, there was a crash sounding near the living room, making Tim jolt and bump his head on the bedframe. Dick in turn leapt to his feet, coming to a protective stance between the bed and his bedroom door.
Tim was a little worried about what would happen next. He’d heard a little bit about how Jason was angry at Bruce and Dick, but how angry was the question. Tim was 80% sure that Jason wouldn’t shoot Dick, especially not in Tim’s room or in front of Tim. And considering Dick was trying unnecessarily to protect Tim instead of holding a weapon to Tim was more points in Dick’s favor.
They could hear voices in the room over, and Tim was hit with the realization that Jason was out there with Batman. With Bruce. Why, he wasn’t too sure, but he could make guesses. Tim will have to modify his plan to get Jason and Bruce on better terms depending on how the next few hours go. Grimacing at the noise outside his door, Tim could guess that it wasn’t going well.

Resuming after interruption
Notes:
This is a hypothetical story based on the premise of "What if Shinichi grew up as Conan and continued to live with Ran."
This text contains some sexual content, so please exercise caution when reading it if you are underage. It's important to note that in this story, Conan is already eighteen years old and Ran is twenty-seven years old, so there are no instances of sexual activities involving minors.
Resuming after interruption
Ran meticulously arranges the final piece of laundered apparel, then kicks off her slippers before reclining and sinking into the plush embrace of her bed. Her bones and muscles emit a synchronized murmur of discomfort. The torment of drenching rain after rigorous training is an agonizing ordeal, and instructing a spirited cohort of adolescent girls in karate proves more arduous than she had envisioned.
And on occasion, weariness must be met with an additional layer of fatigue, as an antidote of sorts.
On a rainy night, the symphony outside the window conceals infinite musings, while the pitter-patter of raindrops evokes reminiscences of other matters. Matters of a more delicate nature, suited for a solitary night such as this.
She shifts her body, extending her hand downward, hesitating whether to retrieve her smartphone's photo album or LINE voice recordings. Drawing from past experiences, she concludes that relying on her imagination alone can effortlessly achieve the desired outcome.
She first explored self-pleasure at the age of fourteen. It began with casual friction but gradually evolved into a deeper exploration. Her father remained unaware of his adolescent daughter's thoughts, and conversations about such awkward topics were avoided with her rarely-seen mother. And then there was Shinichi, even shorter than herself, who appeared to be an inexperienced child.
Perhaps children raised in such family dynamics excel in self-education, where they must taste pain and pleasure alone.
Ran begins to recall the few occasions she last saw Shinichi, each encounter leaving a distinct palpitation in her heart. She automatically captures fragments of those flashbacks: the sharply defined jawline and moist lips when Shinichi abruptly intruded on the stage play, the hand that embraced her waist amidst the fiery autumn leaves in Kyoto...
It was also the hand that wore glasses frames, a hand whose owner still calls her "sister" to this day.
The dry sensation beneath Ran's hand was replaced by moistness, yet her heart tightened with nervousness. Remembering Conan in such moments brought her a sense of shame, even from a moral standpoint, as she remained untainted.
They say that love life is a journey of great length, and it seemed that her love story was even longer than others, as if time itself were rewinding. At least the progress was not completely reset, barely qualifying as a resumption from where it left off.
Conan still resides in her house, which is quite amusing.
Initially, she was the one kept in the dark, but later she began hiding the truth from her parents. A smooth life is like a flowing river, and Kudo Shinichi is the silent and resolute rock, subtly displaying his uniqueness at a different pace. Consequently, she had no choice but to become the secret co-owner, the only irrational element in her life.
In the presence of others, they address each other as siblings, a suggestive ambiguity only they fully understand. However, later on, he began calling her "teacher" on campus, raising an eyebrow playfully. People jokingly remarked that she didn't seem to be nurturing a younger brother but rather doting on a boyfriend.
During those years, she watched her "boyfriend" grow taller, his slender body transforming seemingly overnight, drawing closer to the Shinichi she remembered. Her heart grew restless and tangled, even harboring some hidden regrets.
Winter is coming to an end, but does she truly long for spring? That remains an enigma to her.
Ran took a composed deep breath, her spine slightly tensing. She recalled last week when she walked home with the star player of the soccer club, Edogawa Conan. The boy exuded confidence, his smile carrying a deeper meaning, and he playfully leaned in, resembling a puppy seeking affection.
He knew her preferences—youthful, vulnerable, easily controlled, and unable to escape. Though she hesitated to speak, refusing to admit her enjoyment, he understood without her uttering a word. Unconcerned, they tested the boundaries, pretending not to see the flames of love and desire growing higher when surrounded.
"Conan..." The name slipped out unintentionally, causing her face to blush, as if to make amends, she softly murmured, "Shinichi." Her head tilted back, longing for torment or solace. For twenty-seven-year-old Ran, torment, and solace were synonymous, and she had pondered their intricate meanings countless times over the past decade.
Her worries transformed into a delicate cloud of mist, and in the most intense moments, she ceased to think at all. The rain outside grew heavier, and her body could no longer contain the restless heat within. As the mist dissipated, weariness and hesitation returned, and she had the illusion of becoming a liquid, silently flowing, as if possessing the ability to traverse time.
Perhaps it was a dream. She and Shinichi walked along the path after school, the setting sun casting a rosy hue on their youthful faces. It was a long road without an end, and yet, in the end, they would have to bid farewell. She was on the verge of getting lost in this pure and decisive parting, wondering if putting a period, in the end, would be better than the prolonged struggle to express their unspoken feelings.
When Ran opened her eyes and saw Shinichi, she momentarily thought she had truly returned to ten years ago. It was only when the boy leaned over and placed his forehead against hers, softly complaining, "Ran-neechan, don't you realize you have a fever?" that she belatedly realized the source of the internal volcano within her.
Before she stood Conan, without his glasses, caring for her.
Why did he remove his glasses, starting this cycle of torment between them once again? Ran attempted to sit up, noticing that the sheets and blankets beneath her felt different from yesterday. "Oh, that... I took them to be washed for you," Conan calmly replied, as if it were a trivial matter.
She dodged the dangerous topic, trying to maintain some dignity. "Aren't you supposed to be at training camp? Why did you suddenly come back?"
He was direct in his response. "Because you didn't wake up this morning. It's not like your usual routine."
The rain outside had ceased, and the last remnants of mist were pierced by sunlight. Even though she had long sensed that her life's rhythm was being controlled by someone else all too perfectly, at this very moment, an indescribable resentment surged within her.
Wasn't he supposed to be a deceiver? Why didn't he continue with it all along? Why was there no room for lies when it was necessary? In the past, Ran could easily lay everything out, but now, at this moment, the name "Shinichi" choked on her lips, the name she had called countless times, yet now she didn't know whom to call upon.
Conan didn't indulge her silence; he lowered his head, resting it on her shoulder, seeking solace, or perhaps offering an apology. "Call me whatever name you want, I don't mind," he said softly.

Well.. we all know that BO will be destroyed one day, the whole world will know about it's existence... truths will be resurfaced and the most darkest secrets will be revealed..!!
Most characters fates are almost well known, with exception of Sherry/Haibara Ai.. What about her??
I always wonder about the topic of "Aftermath of Sherry" in the end of DC story!!
For example.. Let's imagine that the BO had fallen... its members as well as their boss were all captured and brought to justice, and Haibara regained her true identity as Miyano Shiho after creating the final antidote!! May be it sounds good and expected ending.. but the hardest part has yet to pass. Returning to her original body, Shiho will be left to pick up the pieces of eighteen years living with a noose around her neck..!!
Not only that, but I've always had a weak spot for story dealing extensively with the aftermath of the BO fall, especially when it's around Shiho who will be trying to rebuilt a new life on the ruins of the old one.. in addition, I'm curious and interested to see Shiho dealing with the consequences of her work in the organisation, facing and/or atoning for her sins in the past. I do not know how she will be treated by PSB, police or any other secret service intelligences.. will she be treated as a suspect/ criminal/ victim??!! Also, how she will be viewed according to her country's laws?? And what will be her punishment if she was viewed only as a high-ranking criminal from BO with codename "Sherry"??!!
However, I have different theories/ideas about her aftermath once BO is destructed:
1- Abandoning Shiho Miyano and living as Ai Haibara (I don't think so)
2-Returning to Shiho Miyano, handing herself to police station. Transferred to Teitan High School with suspended sentence, and joined Shinichi Kudo and Ran.
3-After returning to Shiho Miyano and paying for her crimes (imprisoned for several years), she will return to Ai Haibara and live with Dr.Agasa as well as DBs again.
4-She will return to Shiho Miyano, handing herself to police, but would not be prosecuted due to insufficient evidence. After receiving a thank-you for some rescue drama from the detective boys, She says goodbye to Shinichi and others, aiming to develop a drug that makes people happy, and go on the path as a scientist and researcher... or choosing a career that saves people lives (being a doctor for example) !!
5- The fact that Haibara is accused means that the existence of APTX4869 will be known to the world. If that happens, nations and terrorist organizations around the world will make a leap toward APTX4869, which could be out of control. Perhaps the FBI and PSB will hide APTX4869 data, as well as concealing its terrifying effect as lethal poison which doesn't leave any trace in body, and of course the shrinkage effect on Conan and Haibara. Therefore, Haibara will not be accused or arrested .. and APTX data will be kept as a secret, but of course, with the exchange of information about BO from Haibara since she was deeply involved in BO.. knowing much more than wanted about them (plea deal as I guess).
That all I have thought about until now.. and only God knows what Gosho has stored for Haibara in the end of this great series.. but since he stated before that's her ending is gonna surprise everyone, I'm -on the other hand- looking forward to see it. I know her ending being a surprise scares fans..And while there are so many ways to screw up her ending, I'm optimistic Gosho will deliver us an ending worth the wait.. !!
I honestly have nothing else to add 😂 You came up with all the possibilities and I applaud you and thank you for that👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Also I think it's so amazing that we share the same opinions. It makes me really happy😁😁
I have my own theories in the pinned post of my page regarding her ending and I agree with your fourth point the most. I hadn't thought about the last point but I think it's very valid and important and I very much see it happening.
But like you said, we're going to have to wait and see what Gosho has in store for us.
Tumblr media
Once again thank you so much for this!💛

The time travel asks! Haibara :3
i think i've actually mentioned this idea before but i have no idea if it was on discord or tumblr. either way, we're going for a bad end au that instigates the time travel. shinichi has been far too reckless with his use of the antidote and keeping out of the public eye and it clues the org into his life as conan and haibara herself. they both get captured and separated. shinichi and agasa and all the kids (tho the kids are unaware of how much danger they're in) are used as hostages to get haibara to continue her research for the org. after so much time playing along and doing as they want, though, it turns out that shinichi's been dead the whole time. maybe at some point the mk gang get involved. maybe this point where haibara has gotten to is also connected to the end arc of mk. it leads to akako sending haibara back in time to fix things after everyone else dies too
fixing everything is a lot of pressure to put on haibara. she gets send back and she didn't even think about the fact that she could save her sister and now that she's here and akemi is alive
trying to save shinichi from becoming conan becomes something worlds harder than saving akemi ends up being. shiho doesn't have a lot of wiggle room - she's under constant monitoring from the org - so her only point of contact is akemi, and even then she knows telling shinichi not to go to tropical land is just going to make him go there. there are so many ways this could go - they could try and warn him off anyway. try and get him not to go. ultimately fail and have a conan on their hands. they could stage an incident. injure shinichi so bad he can't go to tropical land. but then shinichi's going to be suspicious and he's going to look into the incident and get himself involved anyway, all while having the whole 'YOU HOSPITALISED ME' thing between them all to make the dynamic tense and untrusting as fuck
in the end, it's ran who meets akemi. ran who gets told everything and warned about going to tropical land. 'something bad will happen to kudou shinichi if you go there'. and the circumstances are suspicious and she doesn't get it at all but she has a bad feeling and she cancels their trip to tropical land
shinichi can tell that ran is hiding something. eventually the truth gets out and they both get involved with akemi and shiho anyway
shiho and akako become slow burn girlfriends when shiho eventually meets akako in this timeline. their vibes are off the rails. kaito is scared af like wtf happened why does akako have a girlfriend why is she so mean
i'm not really one to ship shinran but it just seems inevitable in this fic AND so cute. like,, no actually. yeah. we're going shinran here. give me ran being just as involved in the org's stuff as shinichi. give me the two of them investigating this TOGETHER. give me that trust and reliance on one another
on another note. this is also aoko/kaito/hakuba and amuro tooru gets the wildest team up when shit hits the fan with like either asuza or someone extremely unexpected like imagine a amuro, kazuha, and hattori team up. that'd be such a weird and unexpected team up that i want it to happen. or like,,, amuro and masumi sera team up. can you tell i just like putting unexpected characters together in different situations??

❛ someone like you is so hard to find. ❜ someone in dcmk but theyre saying it in anger at how stupid the other person is
[Chainsmokers Lyrics Prompts]
(This is set in the Hanzawa-san spin-off of Detective Conan.)
“Finally I have found you.”
Shinich startled, not expecting the other voice. He had hidden in this alleyway because he knew the antidote was reaching its end, that soon he’d be back in this accursed body, and he needed to hide before anyone saw him.
Thus the dirty alley, the closest hiding place. But someone must have followed him, and now they would see-
“Do you know how hard you are to find?” he asked rhetorically, “for months I have been looking for you, in this thrice damned city, leaving behind everything I had.”
Shinichi inhaled, taking a deep breath to make sure he’d be able to answer without making a fool of himself, but the stranger just kept monologuing.
“I had to lower myself, working myself to the bone!”
Oh, it was one of those. A monologuing criminal.
“These damned detectives using me as their handyman!”
Shinichi settled as comfortably as he could in such a situation, knowing this could take a while.
“That thief even tried to steal my most beautiful Lou!”
Oh yeah, he remembered something like that. Not that he considered it too important since, as always when the thief was involved, no one died.
“Someone who could have been my friend was arrested for murder and one of my roommates was murdered! In two different accidents!”
Only two? This guy should be happier, statistically the Beika resident gets accused for murder in at least 4.3 cases, and is a witness in 9.8 cases (and these were the statistics after they took out any cases where he or his friends were involved.)
“I can’t even wear what I like for fear of being taken as a criminal!”
Oh, that must be why he was wearing such fashionably distasteful clothes then.
“This is the closest I could find to my usual clothes!”
Oh. He might not have had murdered anyone but such bad taste in clothes was criminal.
“But finally! Finally I have found you! The one who brought me here! Finally I can take revenge for what you did to me!”
And here he took a pause. Shinichi still waited a bit to make sure before he asked:
“Oh, you’re done?”
The man glared (or, well, tried to. Shinichi would rate it a 3 on the scale of glaring. He gets a pity point for trying.)
“Sorry, you never know with criminals these days.” Some days it felt like monologuing was all they were doing. “Alright, I don’t have much time for this, so let’s do it quickly: murder is bad and will ruin your life, do you really want to do this to your poor little dog? Plus it’s not like you can get away with it you know, the current successful arrest rate in Beika is at 114%. What did you even bring as a weapon?”
He looked flustered.
“You do have a weapon, right? To murder me?”
He played with the straps of his bag.
“Well, I mean, you know, it’s not like I was planning to find you now,” he explained, to which Shinichi nodded in assent because even he himself never knew when he’d appear, “it was more of an opportunity thing, so…”
“So you didn’t bring your weapon with you.” Shinichi said.
“I don’t need a weapon anyway!” Not with those arms, no, thought Shinichi, and he must have seen it on his face because- “I so can murder you with only what is in this alley!”
Shinichi looked around, and indeed there were a bunch of stuff that could be used as weapons (rocks of various size, detritus, plastic bags, even the bin if one was creative enough) but nothing that would help the criminal get away with it. If he were even able to find how to use them as murder tools, which wasn’t a given with the lost look he wore on his face.
“Well, good luck with that.” Shinichi said derogatively.
Suddenly, his heart skipped a beat, and he felt himself clenching his chest as he curled inward. Shit. He forgot about his situation.
“Hey, are you alright?” Was this worry in his tone? “Do I need to call an ambulance?”
“Weren’t you trying to murder me?” Shinichi retorted, disbelief in his tone.
He looked surprised, as if he too only remembered what brought him here.
“That wasn’t concern!” he snapped, defending himself, “it’s just that! That!” He looked around as if searching for the right answer, “it’s just that I can’t let you die before I kill you myself!”
Shinichi’s face showed all his doubts before contorting itself in pain again.
“That’s stupid.” He wheezed.
“Shuddup,” he answered. “Don’t you dare die before I kill you. I’m gonna get someone.”
“Don’t you have a phone?” The (not quite) criminal glared at him.
“Not your business.” He snapped, before turning away.
As soon as Shinichi lost sight of him, he let out a bloodcurling scream as he felt his body melting, his bones shrinking on themselves as he reverted back to a more childish form.
The stranger mur not have been far for, as soon as he shrinked his clothes (Agasa really outdid himself with that invention) he came back panting.
“What the fuck was that scream?” He managed to ask between breaths.
“What scream?” Conan asked innocently.
“Where the fuck is the detective?” He ignored Conan’s interruption.
“I am a detective,” Conan said, “do you need a detective mister?” Conan smiled with all his teeth.
“Not you, the teen detective. He looked terrible but I told him he can’t die until I killed him.”
He almost sounded distraught.
“Oh, you mean Shinichi-niisan!” Conan peeped, “He just left.” The sugar in his tone could have given cavities to a dentist.
Suddenly, the man fell on his knees, clenched fist hittin the pavement.
“Noooo!” he screamed, “not after I just found him!”
Conan approached, giving him a (condescending) pat on the shoulder. “Sorry mister, but he did give me a message for you.”
He lifted his head, hope-filled eyes staring into Conan’s blue ones.
“Really?” he asked hopefully.
“Um-um,” Conan acquiesced right as the first police siren start being heard. “He said to tell you that ‘murder is bad, please think on it while you spend some time with our lovely police force’ and he also added that ‘monologues are a prospective murderer’s biggest weakness.’”
Sato and Takagi exited the car, swiftly approaching them.
“Are you alright, Conan-kun?” Sato asked.
“Yes,” he chirped. He turned back toward the stranger.
He looked absolutely defeated on the floor, gaze blank.
“Bye-bye mister!” Conan waved, “I hope you enjoyed your stay in Beika!”
He said nothing as Takagi gently guided him toward the car. “And thank you for worrying about Shinichi-niisan, he really appreciated it!”

Everyone Loves Best Minecraft Mods
Some bugs that brought about customers to get timeout errors each time they related to a server have been fixed. Hypixel is a mini-game heavy server. It lets you search for the recipe for any item from any put in Minecraft mod through a nifty interface on Minecraft’s stock display screen. The BetterPortals Minecraft mod recreates portals so you'll be able to see what world you’re about to enter, but in addition so there’s no loading display screen to interrupt the immersion. Portals are a little bit problematic when exploring new realms in Minecraft. Chasms are a relentless inconvenience for Minecraft explorers: you spend minutes leaping up the very best mountain only to find an annoying series of gaps between its peaks. We advocate either Feed The Beast’s Direwolf20 1.7.10 pack (which comes with a YouTube collection that’ll train you the way to use lots of the included mods), the Tekkit Pack, or making your own modpack with Curse Voice. Every Minecraft mod on this list comes with its own set up directions that you must observe closely, and you’ll doubtless also have to downgrade your Minecraft model for lots of them.
A instrument for comfort, the Here’s What You’re Taking a look at (HWYLA) mod is the updated version of the previous What Am I Taking a look at (WAILA) mod. Involved in which might be a cooking desk, oven, sink, instrument rack, and fridge - think of it like Minecraft as a cooking recreation. It is included, in fact, with all new purchases; if you happen to already bought the bundle, you can go load up the download page now and accumulate your free game! Chickens roamed free across the savannah. I think free players in Age of Conan Unchained have one of the vital open methods on the market. On this sever you should have Pokemarts you possibly can store in. The following mods will dramatically develop your inventive choices, from new sorts of wooden to correct furnishings. The next mods provide every part you want to totally automate almost each side of modded Minecraft, and work greatest along side a number of the deeper mods in the ultimate part. The following downloads make taking part in modded Minecraft a extra nice experience. In the event you need an antidote to the ache of alt-tabbing to a wiki whereas taking part in Minecraft then flip to Not Sufficient Items (or NEI). I've been playing this nice sport for fairly some time and I have bought it.
Here’s a fantastic exploration mod for people who avoid the Nether on the grounds of it being just a bit too demonic and hellscapey. Much more easy than a few of the opposite exploration Minecraft mods in this record, Twilight Forest allows you to create a portal to a new perpetually dim, forested realm full of recent mobs and difficult encounters the additional you delve. All are divided into sections, depending on what you need to do with the game - from easy adjustments to deep, intricate Minecraft mods you will get lost in for months. If you wish to really feel like your map’s part of the sport reasonably than seek the advice of an external screen, the Antique Atlas mod can be preferred over the Journal Map mod. Make Minecraft look unimaginable with Optifine, which adds help for HD textures and more control over graphical choices. Chisel 2 has 24. In Korobi is now blogging , it provides different textures to a huge number of the game’s default blocks as well as blocks that come with other mods in this list - letting you create any decor you need in your in-game constructions. When you’ve bought numerous Minecraft mods installed you’ll most likely find that Minecraft’s default UI doesn’t cut it any longer.
Not nearly enough mods give attention to improving that most ancient and beloved of weapons - the bow and arrow. Shall we dig into our checklist of the best Minecraft mods? The one difference here is you could only Minecraft Java Edition on Laptop, Mac or Linux. Impacts the functionality of the game with loads of difference. The Twilight Forest is basically a separate journey sport designed within Minecraft. This mod has all the same options as the unique sport, except it’s you'll be able to control the whole thing by way of the interface of a Minecraft chest. Fossils and Archeology Revival provides dinosaurs to Minecraft because that was simply the thing lacking from the game. Biomes O’Plenty adds a ridiculous 80 new biomes and 12 sub-biomes to Minecraft - from Alps to Wasteland. The Cooking for Blockheads mod adds 5 new blocks that kind a multiblock kitchen construction. This a lot-beloved mod lets you retain observe of the place you're going, maps in new territories that you have explored, and allows you to arrange waypoint markers of places that you might want to maintain track off. With no actual goal aside from to have enjoyable and alter up your look, the Hats mod is solely beauty fun.

How old do you think Karasuma is now? Is he still an old man, or is he a younger man, did he possibly rejuvenate?
Karasuma Renya "Child of Seven" Theory
I think Karasuma Renya is in child-form like Conan, and is planned to be Conan's mirror-version on the bad guy's side.
"Nanatsu no ko", the crow song that the boss uses (File 475), can also be read as "child of seven", which would fit with that he chose that song as a theme reflecting his current state, apart from the crow theme (essentially that BO members are sending their text messages to a 7-year-old child, signaled by the dial melody).
Tumblr media
Also, the fact that the research has lead to side effects such as shrinking (as seen with Conan, Haibara, Mary) and potentially halted aging (as seen with Vermouth) further presents the possibility that the boss was affected by them (Old man permanently stuck in a child's form).
It would also explain why Haibara described the drug that she was trying to create as "a foolish thing that most humans in the world wouldn't deem valuable" (File 384), because if the boss is working towards a cure for his state, then a drug that makes you age up fast wouldn’t be useful to anyone who can already age naturally, and people would normally value time and wouldn't want to lose it by growing old faster.
Tumblr media
Haibara also monologued in Mystery Train (after recalling Elena's words about their dream research) "I didn't understand that this drug was something that shouldn't be made... but to prevent people from getting involved, depending on this drug is my only option" (File 821). This could have been a direct hint to that she was referring to the antidote drug as both the drug that shouldn't be made and the drug that she was gonna depend on to transform back to Sherry and sacrifice herself in order to prevent harm to her friends.
Tumblr media
The APTX antidote effect being the true intended goal of the research makes the most sense, as it's not only consistent with both Haibara's drug description & Pisco's words ["who would have guessed you would develop it to this extent?" (File 242) | recreating the initial rare problem (shrinking) is a big step towards finding its solution], but that it also indirectly progresses the BO's research plans without Gosho having to introduce conviniently talented researchers to take over Sherry's research and to somehow progress the research in an even shorter time than the prodigy Sherry herself.
Tumblr media
Instead, by having Sherry herself finish the BO's drug (the APTX antidote) but for Shinichi's sake instead of Renya's, all it would take is for the BO to steal it from Conan/Haibara so they can progress with their evil plans before getting defeated in the climax.

Okay I'll number then one by one. Many are mostly For Want Of A Nail since the only reasons they were prevented is sheer luck. If you can make any interesting scenarios from these that'd be a plus.
1. The Lawyer SOS case is still a sore spot for me in reasons I'd be happy to divulge at any time but right now, let's assume the Mouri's get there two late what would be the aftermath like for both Ran and Shinichi?
2. Given that the Tranq is so powerful, if Conan got him hooked on harder drugs or accidentally made him OD, what comes next?
3. Considering how many times Sonoko or the Detective Boys nearly die, what would Shinichi and Ran's response be if they do?
4. Let's say that there definitely is no hope for a antidote and Shinichi has to age normally. Do you think he'll reach a breaking and make increasingly risky self destructive decisions? Or do you think he'll bite the bullet and tell Ran the truth? If the latter how will there relationship go from there?
Hi!
Well, these are questions that would involve relatively long answers. I hope I can condense a bit, as well as have understood your questions well.
1- Let me understand, you mean Eri's kidnapping case, right? What would have happened if Kogoro, Ran and Conan arrived later to rescue Eri? Well, there might be implications for Eri's safety (although maybe not, since she only gets caught because she comes out of hiding to yell out the window at them), but for Ran and Shinichi? I can't see different consequences than what we already saw in the manga. Ran suspects throughout the case, due to Conan's behavior, that he and Shinichi are the same person, but he manages to throw her off because he recorded himself in Shinichi's voice (I have a theory about that, but I think the answer would be too long, in another opportunity I will expand).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So if they had come to rescue Eri at any time, regardless of the consequences for Eri, this scene, I think, would happen the same way. The only scenario where I think it would change anything is if the danger Eri faces was due to the BO, but that's not the case, so I don't see any different consequences for Shinichi and Ran, since that scene would have happened in the same way. I hope I have understood your question well.
2- I think there is a meme or fanart about it. In that Conan throws so many tranquilizer darts at Kogoro that he die due overdoses lol. But considering the tone of the series, these types of scenarios are ignored and I doubt something like that would happen in canon. Besides , considering how careful Shinichi is about many things, it is very unlikely that he would mess up and use stronger drugs. In any case, putting ourselves in the event that it happens, I suppose that it could have consequences on the health of the person against whom he uses the tranquilizer, which would lead Conan to be more careful, or to stop using it altogether in the event that the consequences were more serious. And if the result were death, it would be a catastrophic and paradoxical result for someone like Shinichi, who abhors all kinds of murder, which would lead him to confess his identity and all the truth about him. Keeping quiet about this would be totally ooc for him.
3- More than the reaction to the death of specific characters, it would be more about delving into the differences in the reactions that Ran and Shinichi would have regarding the death of a friend or close person. Ran is very emotional and Shinichi is more self-controlled (even Gosho claims that he never cries, which I don't like at all). In the case of the Detective Boys, who have somehow become "friends" of Conan, we get a glimpse of their reaction to this scenario in file 817 (manga), when he believed that the boys had been trapped in a fire in the forest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He gets nervous, yells at them, and tries to go there to rescue them. Probably before a death, he would be affected for a while, and then he would remember them with a certain sadness, feeling guilty for not being able to save them. In the case of Ran with Sonoko, just like Shinichi, if she was within her reach, she would try to save her, and if she couldn't, she would cry bitterly for her friend, and she would probably continue crying and suffering in silence while trying to show herself calm/normal in public as she wouldn't want others to worry.
4- Okay, this question could be answered in a separate post, since it is one of the most recurring themes in manga, and it could perfectly be developed at length. Of course, anything that would happen in this scenario is pure speculation, since we don't really know what Conan would do, and what Ran's reaction would be, but based on file 387 (manga), in "The Sullied Masked Hero" case, Conan feels identified with the phrase with the masked fighter: "My identity will only be revealed when I lose".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And since not being able to get his body back could be considered a defeat for Shinichi, and considering how much he would hate to make Ran suffer and wait forever, I think Shinichi would tell her the truth so that, sadly for him, she stop waiting for him. You have to remember that Shinichi keeps asking Ran to wait for him, it's because he still thinks he can beat the BO and get his body back, and if he already believed it's impossible, I can't imagine Shinichi being so selfish as to leave her in the darkness and waiting for him, or to ask her to forget him without any explanation. On the other hand, self-destructive decisions I don't think so, since that, in one way or another, would mean the search for a way out of his situation through suicide, and that would be totally ooc for him.
Now, regarding Ran's reaction, I think that for a while now, Ran's attitude suggests that she would no longer want Conan and Shinichi to be the same person, since it would hurt her that he didn't trust her, lied to her and hid things. Ran is a very morally upright person, who doen't like lies, so in any other situation other than BO's, it would really be difficult for her to forget it since it would imply perceiving him in another way (morally speaking), but considering that Ran is wonderful, she would understand the dangerous situation Shinichi is in, and despite having some resentment, she would help him and cover up. Regarding their romantic relationship, it seems uncertain to me, considering that the situation of being with a child would be a bit strange, so they could put their relationship on hold for a while. I think it would be like her to wait for Shinichi to find a solution or that he grow up, while helping him to overcome her complicated situation.
I hope I have been able to understand your questions and answer your questions well, and if you wanted to delve into any point, just mention it.

Memories (ShinRan)
Fandom: Detective Conan
Pairing: ShinRan
Rating: T
Genres: Angst, Comfort
Words: 1,535
Author’s Notes: Remember my old WIP? I changed the title and finished drafting it right before @shinranweek was announced. 😅 The story is angst-ish mixed with confort. Enjoy!
“What a gloomy day!” Ran stares at the living room window with a frown on her face before returning to the couch. Shinichi, on the other hand, is fine with staying at home. He calmly stares at the television screen and says, “I wouldn’t worry. There’s always tomorrow. We can go to the park again, like we did yesterday. And remember, I’m not going anywhere. I’m here to stay. We have time.” That reassured Ran.
The Kudo mansion is quiet this Saturday afternoon, except for the rain lightly tapping on the windows and the sound of soup boiling in the background. Its smell of broth and fresh green onions linger around the living room and near the couch where she and Shinichi were located. Ran constantly switches her attention between the living room and kitchen while Shinichi sits and absentmindedly watches television.
Ran is spending the weekend over at Shinichi’s house. His parents are away for the week, and her father, Kogoro, left town for a case. During her visits, Ran’s favorite activity is to cook warm, homemade meals for an eager and hungry Shinichi, a tradition that first started during his Conan days. Today’s dish is miso soup, the perfect fix for the rainy weather. Good thing the meal sounds good because mothing good is on television right now. Bored, Shinichi daydreams, drifting to flashbacks of the past year’s chaos.
Calling it all chaos is an understatement. Might as well call it having your body and spirit stretched, compressed, stomped on, and slapped around. Being Conan was not easy. It was like one’s soul was screaming but nothing came out because its lips were sealed shut. He wished to tell Ran everything, to run free and stop living a double life and pretending he was not really Kudo Shinichi. The dangerous situation was an imaginary brick wall between him and Ran. He looked forward to finally breaking it and no longer seeing her hurting and waiting.
The Black Organization’s attack on him was a flash of lightning that ruined years of work achieved during his lifetime. Never will he forget the humiliation endured from being knocked down, bloodied, pulled by the hair, and forced to swallow that wretched pill. The poison’s few minutes of piercing, bone melting pain were followed by missed opportunities. Being Conan was a unique experience, but he can’t deny how his new life caused him to temporarily sacrifice his old one. To this day, he struggles to adjust but still manages to move on, in spite of slipping the occasional ah le le and Ran-neechan.
He next thinks about the moment he received the permanent APTX 4869 antidote. Days after receiving the pill, he recalls lying on a couch near Haibara Ai, who observed and documented his reaction to the drug. “Good news, Kudo-kun! Looks like the antidote is working as expected. Your vitals look fine. No heart problems or side effects. Everything looks great. Come back to visit me one week from now.” “Tch! You’d see me anyway. I live right next door,” Shinichi joked back.
At first, he was scared the drug was a fluke and would turn him back into Conan. Luckily, it ended well because he experienced the heart pounding and drastic bone growth without the shrinking afterwards. The worst after-effect was becoming Haibara’s test subject for a few days before her trying the antidote on herself. It was a sacrifice he was willing to make. After all, the first step in facing the Organization and gaining power over them was becoming himself again.
Back to reality. Shinichi shifts his attention back to the television screen and sighs. “Commercials are currently on. Still nothing good! How stupid!” The rain briefly stopped, but the clouds remain present. The house is a bit dark during these daytime hours. Ran is now in the kitchen stirring the soup.
Ran. Shinichi now blushes after he remembers telling her the truth a few weeks ago. He returned to the Mouri residence to pick up Conan’s (or his) belongings. They spoke alone in her bedroom, with her doing most of the talking. And boy, did he feel guilty! The memories hurt. He feels embarassed now while deep in his thoughts as he did then. He lied to her about his identity and used that front to stay at her home, take a bath with her, and unintentionally tune in on secrets she would never tell him as Shinichi.
Their conversation was actually quite a relief. Ran was more upset by him frequently running away to solve cases than over his massive lie. Shinichi felt grateful for her not breaking up with him, though their argument was settled under one condition: she keeps a very close eye on him. At least he finally gets to spend more time with her as himself this time.
He also owes Ran his life after the Black Organization’s defeat. Shinichi initially refused to get her involved. She instead was persistent and unwilling to listen. Never will she make the mistake of letting him run into danger alone again. His fast reflexes and her karate skills helped them escape a deadly kidnapping.
All this thinking makes Shinichi dose off and take a nap. In his sleep, he envisions Ran and himself strapped together, roped by their arms and waists and their backs turned away from one another. Ran lets out a soft cry, “Shinichi. I don’t want to die.” “Don’t say that,” he whispers. “Look, I have a plan. What we will do is —ah!” Gin appears out of nowhere, interrupting his speech before point a gun to his chest and forcing the poison on him again. He shoots and runs away before Shinichi could fight for Ran and himself. His vision is now blurred, and Ran is nowhere to be felt. He whimpers, and right when he becomes concerned about his body shrinking again, he wakes up sweating and screaming.
“Shinichi!” Concerned, Ran immediately darts towards the living room and sits on the edge of the couch. Shinichi’s eyes widened. He jitters, pants, and looks around in all directions before throwing himself at Ran with a tight embrace. She silently smiles and begins stroking his back. “Shhh! There! It’s okay. It’s okay,” Ran whispers before kissing his hair. He moves up and rests his face against her left shoulder. She eventually presses his back as a cue to change positions. “Hmm...please don’t leave,” Shinichi whispers. Ran responds, “Of course not! I just want to adjust myself.” “Oh!”
They settle down. Shinichi turns the TV off and begins talking: “Ran, I just had a nightmare about us. The Black Organization kidnapped us. Gin shot me and left me for dead once more. I couldn’t hear you, and I swore I was going to turn into Conan again. My first encounter with the Organization left me scared for my life. Scared for you too. Scared they would hurt you. I’m sorry again for everything. If I could take back this past year, I would. I betrayed you. I’d stop myself from leaving you behind back in Tropical Land. Back when I was Conan-kun, I wished you knew everything, but it would hurt you. I was also told not to tell you. Agasa-hakase and Haibara —”
“Ai-chan?”
“Yeah, her,” Shinichi continued. She even aimed a gun at me at the hospital after you donated blood to treat my gunshot wound. Or so I thought. It was a fake gun concealing a small bouquet of flowers. She scared me into not telling you about the Organization or Conan-kun’s true identity. I don’t blame her. That girl was really scared. She would panic any time she sensed their presence. Honestly, I was scared too, only better at hiding it. I didn’t want you to ever see me suffering and turning into Conan or get suspicious, discover everything on your own, and get yourself into deep trouble. Sorry again for getting you into this mess.”
“Don’t apologize,” Ran started. “I trust you. I knew you were hurting but couldn’t tell me for some some reason. I waited for the day you’d return and tell me everything face-to-face. When you first left, I’d sometimes think you were out fooling around with other women. But that’s not you. You were pretty close to me before that incident. You, the Deduction Freak, always talking to me about Holmes or the case of the day. Still, you changed since leaving. I sensed it though our phone calls and in Conan-kun.”
He remarked, “Conan was a new experience. I think it provided opportunities. I met the Shonen Tantei-dan, Hattori, Haibara, Akai-san, and so on. I also gained the courage to confess my feelings to you. Anyway, it’s nice to be back. I missed you.”
“I missed you too. I’m glad you’re back. Well, the miso soup is almost ready. Want to help me prepare the table?”
Shinichi replies with a grin, “Sure, Ran-neechan!”
“Here we go again! You can’t get away with your Conan-kun act this time.”
“Haha! I kid, I kid,” Shinichi joked. He smiled in Ran’s direction. “Let’s do this. I’m hungry!”

Detective Conan Meta: Trauma, being seen & the Inner Child
Tumblr media
Okay, so it’s 6AM and I woke up with this essay half-formed in my mind and I need to talk about DC. Yesterday, I saw a quote on tumblr that read
“to be loved is to be seen”
and it literally haunted my dreams. I dreamt of Shinichi being unable to tell Ran who he is for so long now (we won’t go into the half a year debate (in this post)) and it got me thinking about the unbearable loneliness of it all. Then I thought of Heiji and of how liberating it must be for Shinichi that some people do know him for who he really is - that some people see him, that some people are able to love him, all of him, because they’ve recognised him even when he looks like a child. And that got a chain reaction of symbolism going in my brain because THINK ABOUT IT, Shinichi is literally forced to live as his own inner child.
So, we open with this lovably weird 17-year-old (fuck no, in the manga he’s actually only 16) with barely any survival skills who’s been left alone in a huge mansion because his parents went adios, who doesn’t have a whole lot of close friends because he always found it difficult to connect with others because he’s so focussed on his detective work and who, when he finally manages to ask the love of his life out on a date and inevitably stumbles over another murder, claims that “you get used to it”, that corpses don’t affect him, that nothing really affects him and, worst of all, he actually means it. This is our protagonist. He’s All Grown Up. He always tried to be All Grown Up. Frankly, with parents like these, he always had to be All Grown Up. And it’s okay! Because he found something he loves doing (finding the truth, restoring justice, helping people) and he’s good at it and people actually love him for it (look at all these fan letters, Ran, look at them!)
And then Ran (bless you, angel child) starts crying because - because so many reasons. One, she’s still affected by what happened. Two, she sees the love of her life being strong - and he always has and had to be strong; it must be so bloody exhausting and he’s not even aware of how tired he is, but to ask him to take a break, to take a look at what all this death and suffering and loneliness really means, to take it in, to stop, would be to take the one thing away (apart from her, but she doesn’t know that) that keeps him stable and grounded and to risk having him fall apart. I don’t think she knows this consciously, but Ran is empathetic and has been around Shinichi all her life - this, I think, is the moment it really hits her that this brutality (a literal decapitated corpse that spews blood like a fountain on a roller coaster!!!) has become her best friend’s “normal”. She is scared. She is worried. And she shows it.
And then Shinichi (bless you, cool child) tries to play it down, to make her feel better, to show her that this is nothing to despair over. He, too, is trying to be considerate of this incredible girl who always takes on other people’s burdens and their pain and grins and bears it. But it isn’t all compassion - he frankly also does not have the tools to deal with someone being so vulnerable and innocent and, dare I say?, child-like. And what does he do? Does he stay and engage with her side of things? Does he hear her out and consider that he HAS become callous and somewhat addicted to shedding light on the dark sides of other people? That he feels uncomfortable feeling the light turned back on himself? No! No, of course not! He’s 16 and has the emotional range of a tea spoon (#relatable). Instead, he latches onto the next sign of mystery and turns back to his quest for truth where he feels safe and needed. He LITERALLY tells Ran to “go ahead” and that he’ll “catch up” and boy, will he ever (emotionally).
We all know what happens next: he bites off more than he can chew. He stumbles over a case that even he admits is “serious” and is LITERALLY hit over the head with the realisation that this - socio-economic corruption, systemic criminal organisations, being vulnerable and opening up to a loved one - is the world of adults and he is NOT ready for it. So he, like everybody else, is given the choice to call it quits or to choose life, start over and re-learn the things he missed out in childhood to become an adult. He becomes his inner child again (the first chapter literally ends with the dialogue
“You okay!? Can you stand up, little boy?”
“Huh?”
and he’s trying. He’s trying to stand up, okay?) and it smarts. In this old/new form, he is taken care of, but not taken taken seriously by the policemen (”You must’ve been scared”) and it freaks him out that they treat him (the master detective!) like a child again. At this height, he fails to get into his own house (some more symbolism right there) and he is not recognised by Professor Agasa until he shows him some impressive deduction work, demonstrating that this really is at the core of his character - he enjoys and is good at mysteries. That was never the problem. Neglecting just about everything else was (- the same goes for OG Holmes, I’d argue). Seeing how the situation he went through literally (damn that’s a lot of literally) turned Shinichi back into a child, Professor Agasa warns him not to inflict the same traumatic damage on others - especially since the situation is not yet resolved. (...but Agasa’s involvement is another can of worms)
There’s a whole other post in Shinichi’s choice to call himself “Conan Edogawa” and wearing his father’s glasses as well (aka trying to redefine his identity by viewing the world through the lense of the people he admired (notably his father’s frames without the lenses though!)), but the most interesting thing happens when Ran shows up. He tries, desperately, not to be recognised - not to be seen - by her in this form because it’s not HIM (it is though) and because it would involve Ran in danger; would put her in the adult world he couldn’t deal with and couldn’t protect her from, thus, ironically, infantilising her and (although in an attempt to be heroic, nonetheless still) limiting her agency.
And this is where the irony really kicks in - because Ran finds it much easier to talk to this raw, vulnerable version of himself that he doesn’t allow her to see as a “grown-up” 16-year-old. It is now, as a child that asks straight-forward questions, that he learns that Ran really does love him and that she knows the good (dependable, brave & cool), as well as the bad (full of himself, bit of a jerk and obsessed with mysteries) sides of him better than he does. At the very moment, he, touched by her vulnerability and wanting to open up, decides to tell her the truth, he is again reminded of the Men in Black by Kogoro falling down the stairs like a sack of potatoes and he (dependable, brave & cool) decides not to involve anyone in the mess he brought upon himself until he can stand up to the world of adulthood that he shrank from.
The beauty of the series is that Shinichi slowly realises, bit by bit, drop by drop, excruciating chapter after excruciating chapter, that the way for him (an INTP) to become an adult is precisely by letting others see him as he is and thus forming lasting, real and dependable relationships (by developing his Fe). This tragically begins with Akemi Miyano (a first step and another reminder that he is not capable enough yet), is slowly built up with the Detective Boys (who are honestly so important for him), continues with Ai (#bestpartners, for both of whom Professor Agasa, the eternal child-inventor, is a safe haven where they can catch up on what they missed out on, Ai obviously much more so than Conan), reaches a really, really sweet high with Heiji (#bestbromance), a rather dissatisfying conclusion with his parents (who, and I cannot stress this enough, decide the best way to convince their traumatised son that his life is in danger is to point a literal gun (okay, it’s a pistol) at his face in disguise) and climaxes with Eisuke Hondo (at which point he is confident enough to proclaim who he is even while still in the form of a child (although that doesn’t make the context of the situation any less stupid (thus proving that he IS still a love-struck teenager at the end of the day))). tl;dr By being both the professional adult “Sleeping Kogoro”, as well as the cooky child “Conan Edogawa” at once, Shinichi can play with both facets of his teenage life until he reaches a level of stability that allows him to integrate the child mind into his adult mind - and that will be the point at which he’ll be able to fully become (not just temporarily play the role of) Shinichi Kudo.
Tumblr media
PS: It is also interesting to compare Ai’s and Shinichi’s approaches to being stuck in their childhood selves. Shinichi, not as scarred and slowly building up a network of people he trusts, is eager to move on and begs Ai to give him the temporary antidote as often as he can - he WANTS to grow up and be a grown-up so badly. There is so much (Ran) waiting for him there.
Ai, on the other hand, is much more cautious and warns him not to jump the gun. To her, much more scarred and still rather alone, this is an invaluable second shot at life and she is as careful with it as she humanly can, constantly worrying and on the look-out that someone could drag her back to the prison of responsibilities and obligations. That’s why it was SUCH a pivotal moment for her when she used and realised the use of her adult form when she saved the Detective Boys from the fire. She, too, is slowly connecting the two halves of herself but I suspect that it’ll take her an entire childhood to do so. (Also, interestingly, as an INTJ, she puts down her roots in a very different way from Conan. She cherishes her new relationships and protects them fiercely, but the real signs of her settling down ever-so-slowly is her growing willingness to reconstruct her internal moral system (Fi) and to acquire and find security in material possessions (Se), like her designer handbags and her little football-man-phone-strap.)

I noticed you said you think there'll be a shinran kiss during the final confrontation with the BO but personally I don't think we'll get one until Conan permanently turns back into shinichi.
It could just be coincidence but I've noticed shinichi seems to turn back quicker when something happens to make his heart race so a kiss while he's temporarily shinichi would either get him exposed as Conan or would result in him backing out at the last minute
I hope we see a shinran kiss soon but I personally don't see it happening unless gosho decides to have ran discover the truth.
However I also think it's about time she cononically found out. People say she probably knows, and I agree, but I think it's about time she moved to the 'canon knows' section of the wiki page rather than the 'canon suspicious' section
Ps sorry this wasn't a question, I just wanted to give my two cents on the shinran kiss because the pairing is adorable. So this isn't false advertising, I'll ask a short question. Do you have a favourite official artwork for either shinichi or shinran?
Oh absolutely! The thing here is whether you think the final confrontation against the BO will have Shinichi already or if he’s still going to be Conan and the definitive antidote will come later.
I am on the former, just because. I want him to be there at his full potential.
Another possibility would be for him to take the antidote in the middle of it for some reason. Maybe he’s stuck in a difficult situation and he needs to be big again to get out of it or something. I don’t know.
I just would wish for him to be back, because I want to see Gin’s face when he sees Shinichi alive after what he did to him in Tropical Land.
And I also think Ran will already know when we get to that point, I don’t know, that’s how I see it. I am just confusion when it comes to thinking about possibilities with these two! lmao
!!! As for your last question, I don’t know, I am so deprived of shinran content that I’m always happy with literally ANY crumbs we get. I remember when there was this one poster promoting Movie 23 where they showed them both in karate gear and Ran was wearing the black belt and him a blue one? I lost my mind because of that, I am telling you I GO INSANE for them. Also opening 46 I think it was? I LOST MY SHIT bruh. I don’t know I just love everything involving them, let’s leave it there HAHAHA

Detective Conan Rewatch: Episode 176-178
Episode 176-178: "Reunion with the Black Organization"
Before watching this episode, on a scale of 1-10, how much are you looking forward to seeing it again?
10! Duh! (July 21, 2020 -- We received a copyright strike for some reason, so this is a reupload with minimal screencaps to follow more under "fair use". I am planning on going forward with minimal caps from now on and also going back and removing others from previous posts to hopefully prevent further difficulties.)
Favorite screencap:
Tumblr media
"Peek-a-boo."
Favorite moment:
Tumblr media
The "Clark Kent" scene. :3 I'm not a Conan x Ai shipper (ShinRan all the way!) but it's nice to see Conan being kind to Haibara.
Least favorite moment:
Tumblr media
Shame on you, Aoyama! If you're going to do your research at least get it right! >O All you're doing now is making Shin'ichi look like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about!
The prototype name of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective Sherlock Holmes wasn't Shelling Ford; it was "Sherrinford Holmes". This is by far the biggest mistake I've picked out of DC thus far and while the spelling error isn't particularly important, it just IRKS ME SO BAD. :/ (That and the way there's a space between "Shelling" and "Ford" seems to imply "Shelling" was a given name and "Ford" was the family name, but even forgiving the Japanese "R" and "L" usual confusion it should still be "Shellingford" as one word, not two.)
What's one thing you noticed/realized about this episode that you hadn't before?
Tumblr media
As explained in the episodes, Gin drives a Porsche 356A. The 356 line was apparently the company's first production automobile. Huh. 21,045 Porsche 356As were produced between 1955-1959.
Tumblr media
o_o;; Izumi Shimura clearly must have something against Vermouth. Look at her nose!!
Tumblr media
Oh hey! It's...you! Person I don't think we have a name for. O_o;
Tumblr media
And Detective Kobayashi too!
Tumblr media
Right, so here's more canon connections implying that the antidote for APTX (be it Baijiu or Haibara's later temporary antidotes) requires the body's immune system to be weakened somehow. So far in all of the canon stories in DC every time Conan or Haibara revert back to Shin'ichi and Shiho they've been sick in some way. Movie 7 if I recall correctly continues this concept by having Conan force himself to get a cold (via an unusual pill from Haibara) before taking the antidote to go and save Kazuha.
Tumblr media
Oh wow. So I knew the parallels between Gin and Shin'ichi before, but I didn't realize how similar they were. Gin is clearly making deductions like Shin'ichi; he's extremely observant and can make connections. Gin even makes the same sort of "Heh" noise before telling Shiho how it was obvious he would be able to figure out she'd be coming out the chimney. Guess he really is this series' Moriarty. (And really really good at it. o_o;; )
Tumblr media
The "Cordelia" Shiho refers to is "Cordelia Gray", a fictional female detective that helped provide her "Ai Haibara" namesake.
Tumblr media
Judging from Pisco's reactions to seeing what APTX did to Shiho, it seems that the purpose of APTX 4869 truly wasn't to be a poison but rather something involving immortality or a fountain of youth of sorts.
Tumblr media
I think this is our first reference to "Anokata"? I might be wrong though.
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this episode?
This one should be obvious! 10!
Celebrate it!
Since I don't have access to a tablet and am too lazy to scan a drawing, have a (not exactly) summary haiku.
Gin confronts Shiho
Reunion with the Black Org.
But who is Pisco?
Next Episode: Episode 179
Previous Episode: Episode 175

The Second Chapter in the AU where Ran knows about Conan from the beginning.
The two became something of a team since that day, as they quickly realized (to Ran’s embarrassment) That Kogoro Mouri was not the best Detective they could’ve asked for. Ran maintained that it wasn’t that he was bad, just Tunnel visioned.
They weren’t going to get anywhere by just letting Kogoro do his thing. Add the fact that Shinichi Kudo, now Conan Edogawa, was a natural born detective and couldn’t help being naturally curious and snooping around the crime scene. Ran would cover for the apparent child, but none of the adults would take the seven-year old seriously.
Things became easier when Dr. Agasa revealed the first round of inventions. One was a set of custom superpowered sneakers that multiplied Conan’s natural kicking power. The other one was a bowtie that could change the users voice to any other voice the user heard. Later on, he developed a wrist watch that could shoot a tranquilizer at a target.
Kogoro would be the intended target, but Ran felt uneasy about her father being tranqed on a regular basis, so the two started to work a system out  where Conan would solve the mystery through Ran.  Kogoro would still have to do it in a pinch, but now everyone was gushing about the famous Mouri detective family.
Of course, just because Conan was operating through the Mouri Family didn’t mean that Shinichi Kudo just disappeared from the public eye. The official story was that he was overseas tackling a particularly difficult case, while his cousin was sent to Japan to get in touch with his heritage.
Heiji Hattori, being a great highschool detective in his own right, was also rather dense. For being named ‘Detective of the West’, he didn’t really bother to see whether Shinichi Kudo was even in Tokyo when he showed up looking for a detective competition.
Conan, at the time, was suffering from a cold, thus Heiji offered an age-old cold remedy (Which turned out to be some high proof alcohol.) that seemed to make his cold worse.  A case came in as they usually do and Heiji tagged along in hopes that Shinichi would find his way there.
By some miracle, Shinichi did materialize to pretty much everyone’s shock
“How?” Ran asked.
“I don’t know,” Shinichi said, “ I suspect it had something to do with what Heiji gave me.”
“Osakan Liquor is the antidote?”
“Probably not, not by itself at least,” Shinichi struggled through his words, “I can feel myself changing back… I need to solve this case, but you need to find a way to cover for me.”
“Alright..”
So, Shinichi solved the case, and imparted some words of wisdom to Heiji. That being a detective was not a competition, it was a pursuit of the one and only truth.
Which led to Heiji’s second time meeting up with Ran and Conan on a Holmes fan retreat, and the series of cases that popped up there...
“Pretty smooth deduction Ran!” Heiji commended.
Ran laughed nervously, keeping Conan by her side, “Well you know, My dad’s a detective, one of my best friends is a detective, Something had to have rubbed off…”
Heiji smirked as he looked down to Conan, “Or perhaps you’ve had some excellent coaching.”
Conan laughed nervously, “That’s funny, Heiji-nii, But I’m just a little kid! Ran-neechan is just really smart.”
“I’m not doubting Nee-chan’s intelligence, but it is interesting that she seemed to know things that only you and I knew.”
“Um, W-Well,” Ran started but Heiji continued on.
“Your speech also changed once you started breaking everything down, and I’ve only heard one person make deductions like that…”
“Crap, He’s really close….” Conan thought to himself
“L-like I said…”
“You were also very keen on Keeping your mouth covered. The few moments that it wasn’t, your lips didn’t match what you were saying.”
Heiji knelt down to Conan and grabbed his bowtie, “And the Kid was speaking into this.”
He flipped it over to reveal the mechanical workings of the voice changer.
“So how long have you been using your girlfriend to solve mysteries, Kudo?”
“Hey! Hey!” Both Conan and Ran admonished in unison.
“Well, something rubbed off… “ Heiji snarked.
The two blushed and looked at eachother. They both nodded and looked at Heiji.
“Fine, you win.” Conan grumbled.
“We’ll tell you everything, but not with everyone here.” Ran explained.
Heiji smiled triumphantly, and soon got the whole story on the bus trip back.
“I see, so you were shrunk by a poison and then Nee-chan found you,” He surmised as he looked out the window, “Geeze, Kudo, if you were gonna get involved with shady groups, why couldn’t you wait until after we met.”
“Moron,” Conan Grumbled, “It’s not like I planned this…”
“You also shouldn’t call him ‘Kudo’ so freely either,” Ran pointed out.
“Right, Right,” Heiji dismissed, “ Still though, it’s good that you two’re in this together. I wouldn’t last too long if I had to do this by myself.”
Conan rolled his eyes and rested his head in his hand, but then Ran caught his eye and gave him a bewildered smile, and he returned in kind. Things did seem easier with the two of them working together.

If Conan and Ai return to their original bodies at the end of DC (in case that it will ever end lol more than 20 years no end in sight) What do you think they'll tell the detective boys 🤔 Just like : "Sry we're moving bye" Run around the corner take the antidote, ayumi genta and mitsuhiko run after them to properly say goodbye but just see two grownup strangers
Hahaha😂😂😂 Thank you for that funny image😂😂
To be honest, I'm not sure how they'll explain it to them or how involved the Detective Boys will be in the chapters of bringing down the BO. But there are two scenarios:
Conan and Haibara act like they're traveling far away then return to their former bodies keeping the Detective Boys in the dark. OR
They tell them everything and explain their situation, especially if the Detective Boys pick up on clues while the BO is brought down.
So I'm not sure which route Gosho is planning on taking. Either way, I'm pretty sure whatever he decides, it will be wholesome and conscientious of the children's feelings because we can't deny that they have become an integral part of Conan, Haibara and even Agasa Hakase's lives.

detective conan au except haibara is literally an assassin sent after conan and each "antidote" she makes is basically just poison she is using to attempt to kill him with. instead conan gets to revert back to normal for a short amount of time and haibara is internally screaming because what the fuck why cant this guy die already
ohhhhh i like this idea. i think i might have mentioned something similar on my discord server once actually. hold up - let me check. (also bless you a thousand times i love love love talking about detective conan)
Tumblr media
the idea of a haibara who is still part of the BO is so so neat and interesting BECAUSE of this part of the manga: (yes i'm pulling up manga evidence to engage with you sdhgkjshgkj i'm so so excited to talk about detective conan)
Tumblr media
So, an au where haibara has been sent to infiltrate and kill conan
- maybe the BO doesn't actually know that he's kudou shinichi like she does. they just think /: oh. there's this funky little kid getting involved in our shit. well, sherry just got turned into a kid so i guess we'll use her. we can't outright assassinate this kid in an obvious way cause the police are so SO fond of him and it'll get their attention
- haibara's sister is possibly still alive? maybe that's why she's doing it. if haibara kills this one detective nerd she and her sister get to live, and that'd be pretty neat
- when amuro gets introduced, yeah it's partly cause they're like that mouri kogoro is sus. but also because nothing can fucking kill this little kid and sherry is at her wits end so they have to try double the poison. amuro has wiggled his way into the mouris lives just to pack lunches for conan that are laced with so much poison. it still doesn't work. he's indestructible.
- does gin get sent in?? after bourbon AND sherry together don't work (i bet partly cause amuro didn't want to poison a kid holy fuck and was just lying about doing it. tho it could be interesting if this was an au where amuro wasn't an NOC) do they go. okay. well, we have to straight up kill him now. gin is sent in and is like,,, a new teacher at teitan elementary and has to deal with children. and nothing he tries works cause conan literally knows who he is and is negative 2000 trust
- i bet sushi guy is a part of this. i hate that sushi man so much
