I love reading about all your AUs so much! They’re all so creative!
I’m curious about the people of Paris in your villains AU. Like obviously Adrian and Mari are the villains but how do the people of Paris fear them. Is it similar to Hawkmoth in the original timeline? Or are they considered more or less of a threat?
Keep up the good work and make sure you’re getting plenty of rest!
the issue is, Paris is really split on the whole notion. Nekydallon and Pavo clearly are willing to go to strange lengths to find the "miraculous" they're looking for, but neither of them attack citizens, and Nekydallon exhausts herself helping the people of Paris.
They cause trouble, but, nothing that... can't be fixed? Meanwhile, Felix Furvus and Coccinella seem to act as though they're Paris' defenders, but- some citizens ask - defenders from what?
Many people see Nekydallon as a faceless entity who's worth admiring, with Pavo as her stalwart representative into the world. Those who've been her champions don't lose their memories like they did with Hawkmoth, and note that she sounds soft and quiet, and delicate. She never demands anything, and she feels like a friend who's letting them borrow her power to do what they need to do, but, easier.
Doctors and Nurses find that, being bestowed with a power grants them to operate with better accuracy or with steadier hands, or they're capable of clotting and healing deathly wounds with mysterious powers. Some Akuma are capable of healing life-threatening illnesses or diseases, or at least helping people cope with the pain.
Firefighters find themselves with the power to spring water from their fingertips or to smother fire with the flick of their hands. Some can suddenly carry six people at a time without breaking a sweat to evacuate a house.
Retail workers in the middle of getting robbed suddenly have the power to fight back. People being kidnapped are suddenly granted the power to escape. Victims have a butterfly bond to them and they find the strength to stand up to their abusers and/or escape their clutches.
Marinette works very hard as Nekydallon. She can hear Paris' woes, and doesn't hesitate to try and assist whenever she can. The rest of Paris sees butterflies as a good omen for the most part, though some are deeply suspicious. However as a whole, its the black cat and ladybug that people are most suspicious of, as they hear a lot of talk but don't see results like with Neky.

The Glaring Problem(s) with Hazbin Hotel’s music
(or, the importance of vamps) (part one)
I’m about 5 episodes into Hazbin Hotel, and I’ve noticed a very interesting problem with the music. If you’ve read into any criticism of Hazbin Hotel, you find that across the board people are complaining about how tacked on the musical numbers feel. Tonal issues and poor writing notwithstanding, there’s actually a pretty easy patch for this, and it lies in vamping.
so what’s a vamp? The best way I can explain it is using another musical: The Little Mermaid. Take a look at the song Under the Sea. You’ll notice that as Sebastian is singing, music pulls up into his words, making the transition from speaking to singing more natural and less jarring. That repeated melodic passage is a vamp, and there’s a conspicuous lack of any such thing in HH.
To fully realize why Hazbin Hotel has this problem, we need to take a slight detour. There’s an old adage in musical theater: When the emotion becomes too strong for speech, you sing. When the emotion becomes too strong for song, you dance. In Under the Sea, Ariel will not listen to what Sebastian says, so he must sing. The singing then progresses to dancing as the song reaches its climax. The cycle of talk-sing-dance is vital in creating the necessary energy to make a number engaging.
In short: Hazbin Hotel throws this all out of a third story window. Let’s take a look at one of the most popular songs: Loser, Baby.
youtube
The question is, why must Husk sing to Angel Dust? The lack of a vamp makes Husk’s (a notably straightforward and grumpy character) song seem to come from fucking nowhere. Because the is neither escalating emotion or vamping the transition from talking to singing is jarring and sloppy. If one would take a closer look at Hazbin’s music you’ll find this problem in almost every song, though the one I can give the most credit to is Poison.
youtube
There’s an escalation of emotions! Angel Dust cannot properly express his pain through words, so he sings. When singing is not enough, he dances as well. It’s actually a pretty good example of animated musical theater and the progression of emotions through visuals. It’s still not perfect (see: better executed vamp), but it’s a step in the right direction that the show does not make again.

I just want everyone to know that writing sex scenes is the bane of my existence and I regret every single life choice that has led me to this moment
And, before you ask: No, it's not Who Holds the Devil.
But is it Yo Han and Ga On?
Yes, yes it is.
And I cannot BELIEVE how kinky and oblivious Ga On manages to be, both at the same time. He'll definitely be the death of me (and Yo Han) before this is over.
Just...

I think Daisy is a Laufey coded girl, I think her songs and the vibe its brings suits her a lot <3
YESSS SHE IS IN FACT!!!
Daisy is overall a very vintage girlie and she's over all very much into jazz/jazz inspired songs and likes older sounds in general! She's not only into Laufey but also Frank Sinatra and even if it's not really jazz I feel like she would listen to a few of Elvis Presley's songs too!

Hi I’m curious if you ever thought dnp were just friends or did you always think they were together. I’ve definitely gone back and forth throughout the years cause I don’t necessarily want to go against what someone says about themself but there has been way too many things that just can’t be overlooked. Basically confirming for me that they are together.
i always thought they were more than platonic, from the first time i saw them together. their chemistry was Undeniable. i recognized queer people i knew, and myself, in them in a lot of ways. and having watched the vday video and going through 2009 things around 2011, i couldn’t ignore all that… so while i respected them acknowledging each other purely as friends, i never really believed they could be straight, platonic mates. the whole time i just felt in my heart they were some form of queer and together. and yeah platonic love can be super strong too, but their connection has been wild from the beginning. like real, soulmate level Love. in dan’s words: “your fucking faves could never have this chemistry, day one” :’)

idk idk im just thinking like..... tamaki was raised to be so so gentle, like when he grew up with just him and his mom their life was so sweet and soft and tbqh traditionally feminine..... and it's dramatically opposed to his relationship with his father, who encourages him to be strict/masculine/rigid/etc and also like...... he grew up with the thought that his father didn't really care about him im sure. that his father abandoned him and his mother and im SURE that instilled some resentment in him towards his father and towards masculinity in general too. but he's so soft and gentle and wants so badly to do the right thing and be with the people he loves so he tries. he throws himself into the role he's "supposed" to excell in, the masculine strong heir/prince/king/father, but i think it's really interesting that he also pushes his two closest friends (haruhi and kyoya) into more feminine roles: daughter and mommy, respectively. like maybe if it was just haruhi i wouldnt read so much into this but he seems to be desperately seeking that soft, feminine life he grew up with in his beloved friends, rather than the harsher and stricter masculine life he lives now with his father's household. he has a very unhealthy relationship with masculinity and femininity, a madonna complex towards femininity and a deep deep deep aversion to masculinity (despite feeling like he has to uphold it himself). but i think as he gets older--even beyond the scope of the show or the manga--he would start to realize some of this, and that once he stops shoving femininity onto haruhi and kyoya he might realize that masculine traits and people can be soft, gentle, and loving too...... and interactions with haruhi's father might help him realize it's okay for him to be feminine too :,)

i always get this really weird incredibly tender feeling re: ted/rebecca that season two didn’t really nurture almost at all (christmas ep + a few other moments aside), but occasionally it will still just wallop me over the head and suddenly i’m obsessed with their relationship anew as i felt it in s1, but also terrified that the show itself is moving in the opposite direction from that feeling that s1 left me with and s2 didn’t really encourage
and no, i cannot explain it any clearly than that
it also makes me want to write very mushy fanfics

Discussion of work matters and the last couple of weeks
The island I've been stationed on was attacked in the night by a draug/Deep One army utilizing a captured yacht to breach the wards. After fending off the initial waves of attackers, a colossal Deep One succeeded in putting enough pressure on the strained wards to cause them to lower long enough for it to gain entry. One Council gunboat was destroyed on its entry.
The Deep One proceeded to climb onto the island and, after some engagement, destroyed the lighthouse outright. It was eventually killed in combat. Most remaining draug and Deep One forces scattered after its fall; some corrupted or alien wildlife remained but were able to be dealt with by Council agents.
I... Fell. After the colossal Deep One did. I remember talking to it; it remembered our meeting on Solomon Island and wanted to revisit that conversation and restate its offers to me. My memories of it are blurry and fragmented, and its still
Nightmares bleeding into reality bleeding into nightmares. The boundaries are soft and its hard to keep it all straight. The aftershocks are subsiding, and it helps not being next to it, but sometimes there's still not much of a difference between waking and sleeping. So. It's been harder to get actually useful rest in.
Eighteen people were killed over the course of the attack, either from being overwhelmed by the toxic mist the red sargassum produces and walking into the sea to drown or from direct attacks by the draug army and associated wildlife. Dozens more were injured, some in significant, life-altering ways.
A close friend that I've known since the early days of my career lost a leg to a monstrous spider crab. He's had a long career himself; he's expected to retire with honors.
All survivors will be closely monitored for infection for the foreseeable future and all steps will be take to mitigate the expected symptoms.
Clean-up of the dead is on-going, especially that of the colossal Deep One which is too large to move with the equipment we have available.

I just saw a post that said that fictional characters cannot be abused- they absolutely can. These fictional characters are representations, and the trauma they face can more often than not, in some way or another, be replicated in real life.
On that note, I fully believe in shipping whatever you want to. Why? Because although fictional characters can undergo abuse, they are also not real. If you are shipping abuser x abused irl then yes, we need to have a talk, but in the fictional realm the world's your stage.
I genuinely do not get why people feel the need to police the media that other people consume- that's their own right. I definitely don't agree with certain ships and can't read fanfics of them but how the hell am I supposed to judge someone enjoying that? You know nothing about this person. For all you know, this could be the only light in their life- are you really going to shame someone for having this?
And besides, shipping something problematic is not the cause of problematic behaviour. It never will be. Perhaps it might be the result of it (i disagree, but for argument's sake), and if so, what effect will that ship have on them? It's only a symptom, attacking it will have no effect.
ALSO, how is this any different to the libraries in america banning books?
There's a difference between disliking something and attacking someone. For example, as someone into the grishaverse, I've noticed that a deeply polarising subject is darklina (I don't care about darklina or malina, so consider me a neutral party). Some people like it, some don't. I know people who have gone as far as to block that tag from their dash, which is totally! okay! Encouraged even. But the trouble comes when you attack another person for liking it.
Now that's for consuming, onto producing.
The ethics of fanfiction are wildly different than that of original fiction. Firstly because, as a fanfic author, you are writing for fun. You are not commercialising your craft, which also means you don't have that much of a responsibility towards what you are spreading- it's only going to reach a small percentage of people anyway. This is why published authors get bashed for toxic relationships but fanfic authors generally get a pass for it- because fanfic is primarily for indulgence. It is primarily written "for fun".
(By the way, I don't mean to trivialise fanfiction, i love fanfiction)
This is why if someone ships a problematic ship I will not care. But if this ship becomes/is canon, then I will criticise the author. It's not that deep.
There's a fine line between it's just fiction and let's critique the values and messages this piece of work espouses because it is harmful and fanfiction or any fanwork will lie safely in the territory of the former. Try criticising fanfiction and you will feel like a fool. Why? Because these authors of fanfiction are not making money off of their work. It's that simple.

Possibly the worst take I’ve ever seen online was when I was watching an edit on tiktok of the movie Anastasia set to Everybody Wants To Rule The World and in the comments people were saying shit like “If Russia was still under a royal family there’d be no war in Ukraine 🥺”
Which is like... tell me you don’t know anything about history without telling me you don’t know anything about history-
