#if you read all this to the end you are a saint and a sweetheart
Note
Can i get an immortal villain×mortal hero please please please🥺
I'll give you my croissants 🥐🥐🥐
"How would you like to die?" the villain asked. Their eyes were closed where they sat upon a park bench, head tipped back to the cool breeze and the clear blue sky.
The hero stopped, a little uncertain, but not exactly startled.
"I've tried every kind of death," the villain said. "I can make a recommendation if you prefer."
"I'm not going to die."
The villain's lips twisted - a smile, of sorts. "All mortals die. It is the linchpin of their condition."
"I won't die because of you."
The villain's smile broadened. "Drowning, perhaps. Or maybe suffocation. I don't want to disturb the ducks."
"Why those in particular?"
The villain finally deigned to open their eyes at the question, considering the hero where they stood. The hero couldn't quite read the villain's expression, but their voice remained casual. "Everyone always thinks they can survive those ones. If they just thrash, just fight, hard enough. Then they go very still and very quiet when they realise they can't. You have time to realise what's going to happen to you, see."
"Nice to see you at least put thought into your craft."
"What can I say, I'm a sweetheart. You only get one death."
"But you don't."
"You've done some research. Not enough," the villain added, tipping their head, "seeing as you're still standing there talking to me. But some. Kudos. I guess we'll see if you're brave or stupid."
"I'm not trying to kill you."
"Contain me. Incapacitate me." The villain waved a dismissive hand. "You might save your generation, perhaps, if you get lucky. Are you feeling lucky?"
"I'm not trying to do that either."
"Oh?" The villain sat up a little, finally tuning in properly to the conversation. "Are you not a hero? You dress like one."
"I'm hoping to find a more peaceful, effective solution."
The villain slumped, bored, again. "Mm. This should be good."
"Because I have done my research," the hero said, taking another step closer. "You're immortal. You only kill people when they attack you or are in the way of you wanting something."
"As I said, I'm a sweetheart and a saint."
The hero's jaw tightened. The villain had slaughtered thousands across the decades after all. They were many things, and had lived many lives, but in none of them had they ever been a sweetheart or a saint.
"And what you want most," the hero ploughed on, "other than your comfortable life, is not to be bored. There's no end, after all. So you need distraction. Diversion. Something to make time a little less of of a prison."
The villain was silent for a long moment, watching the hero. "I take it back," they said, finally. "I'm going to drive a knife through your ribs. Nice and slow. You know it's much harder to die from a stab wound than people think? Often it's the blood loss that gets ya."
"And then what?"
The villain shrugged. "Feed the ducks. Go back to my book. Make Christmas lights out of your bones. The possibilities are endless!"
"Sounds lonely."
"You think you're the first to try this, don't you?"
"I think you haven't met me before."
"Maybe I will entertain myself with you," the villain said. "Maybe I'll destroy your life and the live of everyone you talk to from now on. That could be fun. It's been a while since I've been so personal a devil."
Despite themselves, the hero swallowed. Despite their resolve, they considered walking away. Just for a moment.
The villain pushed to their feet, tossing their paperback carelessly aside.
The hero squared their shoulders. They felt their suddenly-fragile feeling heart begin to race. They let the villain stop in front of them, they tried not to let out a desperate shudder as the villain's fingers wrapped around their throat.
"Pick an option," the villain said, caressing their pulse. "Lose air. Lose blood. Or lose everything, but get a few more years before you go. If you ask really nicely, I might even make it quick. "
The hero shifted. They passed through the villain's fingers as if it were nothing, as if the villain were nothing. A ghost. Untouchable.
When the villain turned, the hero sat on the bench the villain had vacated. They made a show of picking up the villain's book, willing their once-more solid fingers not to tremble.
The villain raised an eyebrow. "Phasing. Cute."
"I don't age when I'm in ghost mode. Any injuries I have heal. If someone kills me, I stay dead, presumably. I'm mortal, as you say, but..."
"Hard to kill."
"Hardest you'll find. Or does the challenge scare you?"
"Determined little martyr, aren't you?"
"Not like you have anything to lose experimenting. You have all the time in the world."
"You realise I don't have to honour any deal now that you've revealed your hand? I could just hunt you and continue hurting other people, especially now I know how much it bothers me."
"I'll disappear."
"I have all the time in the world. I'd find you eventually."
"I guess then I'd just vanish again, if you don't want to play ball."
"You really are just the cutest, aren't you?"
"Is that a yes?"
"Maybe." The villain held out a hand for their book. "I haven't decided. Buy me lunch. See if you can keep my interest for more than five minutes."
"Lunch."
"There's a new cafe I haven't tried. Apparently they make their own croissants."
"You want to go to lunch with me?"
"No, I want to go to lunch. All this talk of bloodshed is giving me the munchies! But I'm assuming you're currently planning to haunt me, so you may as well pay. Unless you want me to just...kill anyone who tries to charge me."
"No! No."
"That's what I thought. Great minds."
The hero pushed to their feet, as the villain had, tentatively offering them their book back. They weren't entirely sure if that encounter had gone well or not.
The villain smiled, full of teeth, eyes gleaming.
"For your sake, little hero, do try not to be boring."
And, so, they went for lunch.

Please let Astarion meet Tav's family and have a younger sibling like 6 be like im gonna marry the prince points at Astarion.
Tav : Sorry, im married to the prince
NO IM GONNA MARRY THE PRINCE
That's so fucking cute kill me. But I just realized AFTER I finished it I read this wrong 😭😭 I read it as "marry" instead of "married" so whoops now it's an asking for your hand in marriage fic.
Also, I'm going to make this a weird little, unofficial, alternate reality, off shoot of this fic to explain away why Astarion can be in the sun without ascending because I am ~lazy~
Quick summary if you didn't read it, Tav serves Selune, gets a blessing for all the good work, and uses it to cure the anti-light issue of the vampirism (but not all of it). It's not a literal extension of that fic but I'm stealing my own plot explanations. That's it! Now here we go:
~
Astarion wasn't nervous per se. He was just... on edge. And the two-week journey it took to get here wasn't helping things, not when it gave him so much time to ruminate in his thoughts. He never expected to be in the position of "meeting the family," let alone in anticipation for asking for someone's hand in marriage.
Astarion wasn't even quite sure how his life got here. He had always fantasized that a life without Cazador would be one of selfish hedonism, not one where he would be legitimately concerned about a damn six year old sibling's first impression of him.
But then you came along, effortlessly shattering all of his grandiose plans with a batt of your eyelashes. Perhaps the entire journey of falling in love was more complicated, but it felt like it was that simple. In hindsight, he never stood a chance against you, but it was hilarious that there was a time he ever thought he did.
All of his prior dreams and fantasies felt like nothing in comparison to just being with you. It had been a year since you both saved the Sword Coast, a beautiful, fantastic year. That had ended with him somehow more in love with you now than when he first confessed. Selune's blessing had certainly helped with that he was sure. He still couldn't quite believe that you would use a god's blessing on him of all people, but gods, was he appreciative. Because being able to walk in the sun again meant that he could live the life he wanted, with no restrictions. He could be the partner you deserved, the kind that a father would happily say yes to when asking for your hand.
Which brought him back to his current dilemma. Perhaps he hadn't seen any of your family members in the time you'd been together, but he had heard plenty. You loved them all to death, especially your little sister. You wrote to them constantly, the mere sight of a letter from your parents enough to put you in a great mood for the rest of the day. He was aware that your mother was supposedly a saint, a fact that your own father had instilled in you often. He knew that they had a wonderful, loving marriage and were both higher ups in the Church of Selune. A fact that Astarion didn't particularly enjoy.
As grateful to the moon goddess as he was, he was aware that you were an expectation to the very normal belief that vampires were bad. And that marrying one was one of the stupidest things you could ever do from an average person's perspective, let alone a Selunite.
Why you hadn't done the smart thing and lied about what he was, Astarion would never know. But he did know that the thought of their rejection over his admittedly sordid history was putting him in a tailspin.
"They're going to love you," You said for the hundredth time, giving his hand a squeeze as you led him up the steps to your childhood home, "You have nothing to worry about sweetheart. I promise."
Astarion highly doubted that, but you were already knocking on the front door before he had a chance to argue. The door instantly slammed open, a beaming child already launching themselves at you before Astarion could process what was happening.
But you were more prepared them he was. You effortlessly caught them in your arms, laughing at their excited shouting, "Titi! You're late!"
So this was the famous Arabeth.
"No, I'm not!" You laughed as you settled her on your hip, "And what happened to my little girl's manners huh? You haven't even introduced yourself yet."
The child glanced over at him, like she was just realizing for the first time that someone else was standing over there. She looked a little shocked at the sight of him, staring at him with wide eyes. Wide enough for Astarion to start to wonder if something was on his face.
He gave her a little wave only for her to bury her face into your shoulder, peeking out at him with her lips pursed. Which was not the best start to the whole making his darling's family actually like him plan.
"Well, as you've probably guessed this is Arabeth. She's just a little shy," You reassured as you stepped inside, muttering a quick invitation inside under your breath. He appreciated that, he didn't need the whole house to be reminded of his... limitations.
"But she'll get over it soon enough," You continued as you called into the house, "Mom? Dad? We're here!"
And just like that they were rushing into the room, acting just as excited as your sister had been. Your mother wasted no time in smothering your face with kisses while your father swept you up into a hug. It was a rather impressive display of coordination, considering how they hadn't managed to knock you and your sister to the floor in the process. Astarion was pretty sure they were both saying something along the lines of We missed you! But it was hard to tell with all of you so tangled up in each other.
It was heartwarming to see, in all honestly. Of course such a loving person would come from an equally loving family, what else would he expect?
Though he certainly hadn't been expecting for your mother to throw her arms around him next. She brought him into a tight hug before looking him up and down, "So you're Astarion huh?"
She turned back to you, grinning ear to ear with her hands set on Astarion's shoulders, "He's so handsome! Selune help us, do you remember the last boy you brought home? He had a nose the length of my arm-"
"And that's enough of that," You said with a strained laugh, pulling your eccentric mother back a few inches, "And we've talked about the impromptu hugs. What happened to asking for permission?"
"Sorry, sorry!" She said with a wave of her hand, "Let me try again. I'm Seliras, and this is my husband-"
"Marcoul," Your father interrupted, putting his hand out for Astarion to shake, "It's been awhile since we've met a boyfriend."
"He's a little more than that," You said with a sigh as everyone exchanged pleasantries.
"We'll be the judge of that," Marcoul said with a sharp but friendly grin, the grip he had on Astarion's hand briefly tightening before he let go, "From what we've heard, you're quite the character aren't you?"
Ah, so the interrogating was starting early then. It was nothing that Astarion hadn't expected. Besides, turning up the charm was his strong suit, even when he was uncharacteristically nervous.
Astarion smiled back at him, "You've heard right. And I'm more than happy to answer any questions you might have."
"Oh gods please don't say that," You groaned, but it was too late. Your parents were already leading him to sit, rapid-fire questions coming out of their mouth.
Where are you from? How did you meet? Are you serious about our Tav? What's your religion? Where's your family? What are your plans?
But Astarion answered them all, with only mild censorship for the child's sake. The child who suddenly couldn't stop staring at him. It wasn't exactly easy to sell himself as a future husband when he was a vampiric ex-slave, but he made do.
It was an overwhelming experience to say the least, but not necessarily an unpleasant one. That was one good thing about trying to marry into a family of zealots, it was a lot easier to convince them of your virtue when you received a personal blessing from their goddess.
By the end of the night, they were all throughly appeased, enough so to get off the topic of him for a moment.
"You look a little young to have a thirty-year old child," Astarion said to your mother. He was actively trying to compliment her for obvious reasons, but he was also genuinely curious. She barely looked a day over 40.
"Oh we breed young," She said with a laugh, "We had Tav in our teenage years. Arabeth came much, much later. Our favorite little surprise. Gods, I can't think of a single person in our family who didn't have kids young. Our little Tav is the only exception to the rule."
"But maybe not for much longer, huh?" Marcoul added with a grin, yelping when you lightly smacked him over the head for the comment.
"Do not start the kid talk again!" You hissed out, cheeks red, "We've talked about this!"
Astarion couldn't help but grin at your reaction, charmed by your embarrassment. Though... the idea of the two of you having children together sure was an interesting thought.
Astarion felt a tug on his sleeve while you were distracted arguing with your parents. He turned, smiling when he saw your little sister standing there, still staring at him with wide-eyes.
She took a deep breath before blurting out, "You look like a prince. Are you?"
"Not exactly," Astarion said with a small laugh. That couldn't be further from the truth, "There's no blue blood in my veins."
She frowned, cocking her head at him like he wasn't making any sense. But then an idea obviously struck her as she excitedly asked, "But if you married a princess, then you'd become a prince too. Right?"
"I suppose?" Astarion answered with a shrug.
"So if I become a princess, and I marry you, then you'll be a prince?"
This conversation was quickly becoming out of his depth. But luckily enough for him you were swooping in to save him.
You laughed at her question, turning your attention back to the two of them, "No offense Bethy, but I'm going to be the one marrying this particular prince."
But Arabeth wasn't having it. She crossed her arms, looking at you like she was the one talking to a child, "You can't. Because if I don't marry him, he won't be a prince. So there. I have to do it."
She looked so serious, her facial expressions incredibly similar to your own. Astarion was holding back a loud laugh as you tried and failed to reason with her, "I can marry him without the royal status-"
"No! I'm marrying the prince!"
Your parents were doing a much worse job at hiding their reactions, both of them opening giggling behind their hands as you came up with a compromise.
"Okay, okay," You said with a sigh, kneeling down to look the small girl in the eye, "How about this? I marry him first. But only until you become a princess. Then he's all yours. Sound fair?"
She thought about it for a moment before nodding to herself, "Sounds fair."
Well Astarion wasn't going to get a better set-up then that. He turned to your father, his nerves coming back for a brief appearance, "I'm assuming now might be a good time to ask what I came here to ask. Though I do promise I only intending on asking for one of your children's hand in marriage."
Marcoul nodded slowly, his face unreadable as he spoke, "I mean no offense when I say this Astarion, but you aren't exactly who I imagined for my daughter."
"Dad don't-"
"Darling, let him finish," Astarion gently interrupted, his eyes still locked with your father's.
He took a deep breathe before continuing, "That said, I've never seen her so... herself with someone else before. So yes. The two of you can marry. On one condition."
"Anything," Astarion said instantly, nearly giddy at the fact that he was so close to the official yes, "Just name it."
"You have to have the wedding here," Seliras answered for him, a massive smile on her face, "No ifs, ands, or buts."
"And I get to be flower girl!" Arabeth chimed in, her past indignation completely forgotten as she climbed all over you, "And there has to be chocolate cake!"
"Oh gods, help us," You groaned, but Astarion was already nodding along. He couldn't give less than two shits where it happened or who was involved. He could scarcely believe that it was happening at all. But that was the last thing he had needed.
He already had the ring, the most amazing person he could ever fathom being with. Who actually wanted him back.
Now all he had to do was ask.

ftm steve, established steddie. contains detailed descriptions of periods.
Steve spends the first day of his period absolutely miserable. His emotions are all over the place. One minute he's this close to lashing out at the first minor inconvenience and the next he's ready to bawl his eyes out.
He knows Robin can tell that something's up. She keeps asking if he's alright and Steve tries to brush it off, tell her he's fine, it's just a little headache, he couldn't sleep last night. But then that sends her into another spiral that makes Steve want to scream and throw something just to get her to be quiet.
Those are mean thoughts, Steve knows, but his body's all out of whack, and his knees and lower back are killing him and he swears he can feel his fucking hips shifting. Add in the cramps that are steadily rolling through his uterus and he's so fucking close to committing homicide.
He's in the stacks, dead-eyed as he stocks the new animated releases, and shifting from foot to foot because now those also hurt and he can feel the beginnings of a migraine that'll have him calling off the next day, and he just wants to go home and lay on the couch with his heating pad and his boyfriend while some shitty TV show plays in the background.
"Steve?" Speak of the devil.
Steve makes a noise of acknowledgement and continues to shelve the tapes. He ignores the pang in his chest that makes him want to reach out and pull Eddie closer and burrow into him.
As if he can read his mind (or tell by the look on his face), Eddie steps closer. "You got Robbie real worried, sweetheart," he says gently, hands in his pockets. Steve can tell he wants to reach out for him the same way he does.
"I'm fine, Eds," Steve says. More like he tries not to snap at the only person who knows about his "condition." He can feel his agitation rising, though, with another wave of cramps that are accompanied by nausea and a sick feeling of something gushing from down there.
"Is that why you look like you wanna blow chunks all over the place right now?"
Steve maybe puts a tape on the shelf a little too hard. "It's been a shit day, Eddie, I really don't need sarcasm right now."
Eddie puts his hands up. "Sorry, sorry." He comes a little closer and lowers his voice. "Talk to me, baby. What's the matter?"
Steve sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. "It's the first day," he mutters behind his hand.
"Hm? I couldn't hear you, Stevie."
"I said–" Steve sighs again, harsher this time, and his hand falls to his side, his gaze firmly locked on the tapes in front of him. "It's the first day, and the first day is always shit. It feels like a rock's sitting in my stomach or something and I can't take more than two steps without feeling like I'm gonna puke."
He doesn't mean to unload it all onto his boyfriend, but he asked for it. His perfect, wonderful boyfriend who takes it all in stride without a single hint of judgement or disgust.
"I'm hormonal as fuck, man, and it’s like customers chose today specifically to be even more annoying than they usually are, like they made it their personal mission or some shit."
Steve looks to the front of the store where Robin is still at the counter and then back at Eddie. "Robin keeps asking me if I'm alright, and I love her, Eds, I really do, but if she keeps it up, I'm gonna end up snapping at her and then she'll cry and that'll make me feel even worse."
Steve takes a deep breath, holds in it for ten seconds, and exhales. "I just need a break," he says, sounding defeated, and so so tired. "I just need to be alone for five minutes, and–"
Eddie, who has been quiet this whole time, like a saint, letting Steve rant until he runs out of steam, tilts his head and looks at him with those big Bambi eyes Steve loves so much.
"And what, Stevie?" he asks gently.
Something in Steve's chest snaps and his bottom lip wobbles before he can stop it. The back of his throat burns like it always does when he's about to cry, and– yep, here come the tears.
He takes a shaky breath and his voice breaks when he says, "I need you."
Eddie's expression falls into something Steve absolutely hates. "Baby–"
Steve clears his throat and the tears are gone as quick as they came, though his eyes are a little red rimmed and shiny.
He shakes his head and waves Eddie off, putting more tapes on the shelves like he didn't just have a mini breakdown in the middle of his shift. "It's fine, Eddie, really. I'll just, I don't know, take a painkiller and tough the next couple hours out."
The tape he's holding is gently taken from him and set on the shelf for him. Eddie levels him with a raised eyebrow.
"Is that really what you want to do?"
Steve bites his lip. He doesn't. Work is the last place he wants to be at today, or this whole week for that matter.
He shakes his head with a soft, "No."
"Okay, then."
Eddie tells him to go grab his things from the break room. Steve is too exhausted to argue. He comes back to the front counter but before Robin can launch into a lengthy apology, Eddie interrupts her with a minute shake of his head.
Steve holds his arms out and pulls her in for a hug anyway.
"I'm sorry for being an ass all day," he says and plants a kiss on the top of her head.
Robin hugs him back and kisses his cheek. "I'm sorry for being pushy." She pulls back and takes Steve's hands in hers, lacing their fingers together. "Hope you feel better soon, dingus."
Steve can't leave his car at work overnight so he follows Eddie's van to the trailer. He grabs one of Eddie's pullover hoodies out of his closet once they're inside and a pair of baggy sweatpants before making a beeline for the bathroom to pee and change his pad.
Soon enough, Steve comfortable and cozy on the couch, covered with at least two blankets and even more pillows, his hood pulled over his head and mussing his hair up even more. Eddie's got My Friend Is a Vampire playing on the TV, but Steve's saving grace is the heating pad that's covering his waist under the blankets.
Steve groans softly as he's hit with more cramps and shifts his hips against them.
"Here, sweetheart." Eddie comes back from the kitchen and hands him a cup of hot chocolate. He reclaims his spot next to Steve, boxing him between his body and the back of the couch. "How you feeling?"
"Like shit," Steve grumps, taking a sip and reaching back to set the mug on the side table. "I'd rather take being gnawed on by demobats than have to deal with these cramps. At least I can see the bats and try to stop them." He winds his arms around Eddie's waist and rests his head on his shoulder.
Eddie crinkles his nose in distaste. "Frankly, babe, I'd rather you not go through either." He rubs his thumb over the skin of Steve's hip. "What's stopping you from using all that government money to pay for your surgery?"
Steve hums and turns his nose into Eddie's neck, smiling against the skin. "I wanna get at least one kid out of you before I do that."
They've talked about this. In length. Eddie was there for the Winnebago conversation. Steve wasn't lying back then, but he's since realized he was wanting all those things with the wrong person.
"Yeah?" Eddie's voice is amused. "You want a couple Harrington spawn running around the trailer park?"
"Nah, was thinking more along the lines of a Munson brat."
Eddie stills against him.
Steve comes out from his hiding spot and grins at the look on his boyfriend's face. He leans up and kisses his cheek. "Did I break your brain on that one, honey?"
Eddie shakes himself out of his stupor and cups Steve's face, pressing him into the couch so he can kiss him silly.
"I'm gonna give you so many Munson brats, baby," he promises between leaving kisses all over Steve's face and Steve's giggles. "You won't even know what hit ya by the time I'm through with you."
Steve guffaws and lets Eddie cover him with kisses and love.
"I'll hold you to that, baby, don't worry."

"Where have you been?"
You dropped your bag to the floor and shrugged off your jacket, hanging it up.
"Out. How was work?"
Emily ignored your question, crossing her arms as she leaned against the wall, watching you with curious eyes.
"Out with who?"
"No one, Em. Am I not allowed to leave this apartment?" You sighed.
"You never just leave without telling me where you're going or who you're with, don't give me an attitude."
You roll your eyes, heading to the bedroom. Emily stopped you.
"You're not going to bed without telling me where you've been."
"Why does it matter? You've been at work. I just wanted to get some fresh air," you threw your hands up in slight frustration. "You leave every morning, and I don't question you. Why can't I do the same?"
"Because I don't trust you!" Emily raised her voice. She blocked off your path, glaring at you.
You narrowed your eyes, steeling your composure to not show that her words had hurt you.
"Why not? I'm your girlfriend."
"And that means I should trust you just because we are dating? You've given me plenty of reasons not to trust you."
"Like what?"
Emily placed her hands on her hips, standing up straighter. "You've been secretive, you're too friendly with other women, you're always on your phone, you hide things from me."
Rage bubbled inside your chest. "Do you think you're a saint, Emily? You are no different from me. How many times have I tried to ask you about your day, just for you to shut down? How many times have I been tossed aside while you prioritize your work? How many hours have I spent waiting for you to come home, worrying that you were shot dead when you'd really just fallen asleep at your desk?"
Emily flinched, surprised by seeing you so angry, and how true your words were.
"Y/N, that's different. i'm just... busy all the time, or have classified information..."
You felt tears sting in your eyes.
"I can't do this anymore," you whisper.
Emily froze in place at your words, watching you grab a duffle bag from the hallway closet.
"What?"
You swiftly moved to the bedroom, feeling Emily follow behind you. You started packing a few essentials, deciding that you would come back later for more things.
"You know what."
"You're leaving?"
"I don't think you're ready to be in a serious relationship, Em. I saw the signs from the start, but I overlooked them because I liked you. But I can't put up with all the secrets, the lying, and the distrust anymore. I'm your girlfriend; I trust you more than I trust anyone in the whole world, and it hurts that you don't feel the same about me."
You wiped your tears.
Emily took a step forward, feeling a surge of panic.
"Sweetheart, listen, it's not like that... I..." she faltered, unable to think of anything that would fix this situation.
You waited for Emily to continue, but her silence was enough of an answer. You zipped up your bag and walked over to Emily, giving her a soft kiss on her forehead.
"I love you, Em. But I can't stay here."
Emily's face briefly softened at your kiss, but her heart dropped as your departure started becoming very real.
"I-" Emily's voice cracked. "Can I talk to you? Please?"
You stopped by the door, considering your next words very carefully.
"I've given you so many chances to talk to me. If all it takes is for me to leave, then it's probably too late."
A wave of hurt crashed over Emily, even though she knew there was a truth to your words.
"I promise I'm ready to talk now."
You made the grave mistake to turn back, and one look at her sad brown eyes was convincing enough. Wordlessly, the two of you walked to the couch and sat down.
Emily took your hand, breathing a sigh of relief when you didn't pull away.
"I know I haven't been the best girlfriend over the past couple months, okay? I-I admit, I've been keeping some things from you, but you have to understand..."
"Understand what?" You voice was soft, but your tone harsh.
"Understand why I was keeping them from you, I just..." Emily sighed. "I was scared. Scared to tell you certain things."
You looked into her eyes. "Is something happening at work? Or is it something in our relationship?"
There was a moment of hesitation before Emily spoke.
"I-it's work-related, yes... and it's the reason I've been so... on edge."
"Does it have something to do with Ian Doyle?" You pieced together.
Emily froze, the name she never wanted you to know of coming out of your mouth.
"Where did you hear that?"
You sensed the anxiousness in her voice, and you knew you were treading on dangerous waters.
"I came home early one night, and I overheard you talking on the phone to someone. You sounded stressed out, I figured it had something to do with work."
Emily nodded slowly.
"I... H-how much of that did you hear?"
You shook your head, "Not much. Just a few names and details. 'Interpol', 'undercover', 'Lauren Reynolds.'"
Just hearing those words alone made Emily anxious.
"I need you to keep what you heard a secret, okay? Don't tell anyone, not even the team. Can you promise me that?"
"Yes, of course."
A wave of silence washed over the two of you. Emily fiddled with her fingers, but never took her eyes off yours.
"Emily, I don't have to worry about losing you, do I?"
Emily managed a small smile, holding your gaze for the longest time.
"No, you don't have to worry about that. I'm not going to let anything keep me away from you, Y/N. I promise."
It was like the storm clouds had finally parted, revealing a glimpse of blue skies above. For the first time in your year-long relationship, Emily had finally opened up to you about something.
You slowly moved in for a hug, giving Emily the chance to opt out if she wanted to. But she leaned into your embrace, hugging you with such intensity, as if you'd vanish if she let go of you. Emily had never been so scared to lose someone before, and she knew that she could never risk losing you ever again.
You were the first to break the silence.
"This can't happen again, Em. I need you to be honest and trust me. I value your feelings, and I don't want to lose you."
Emily nodded as you voiced her thoughts exactly.
"I know. I promise... There's, uh... one other thing I need to tell you about."
"What is it?" You pull away to look at her.
"I need to go somewhere tomorrow to deal with an issue from my Interpol days. I'm not sure how long I'll be gone..."
Emily stood up, walking over to the window and knelt down. She flipped up a floorboard, taking out a padded envelope.
"If I'm not back within a week, I want you to open this."
You took the envelope.
"What are you planning to do, Em?" your voice shook.
"It's just a precaution," Emily lied in order to not worry you. "There's a risk that comes with every mission I go on. I just want you to keep this for the future."
When you didn't reply, Emily took your hands into hers.
"I'm going to be fine."
You nodded, touching your forehead to Emily's.
"Will you stay? Come to bed with me?"
Emily's soft and vulnerable words sent an ache to your heart.
"Yeah."
The two of you settled into bed. You laid on your side, face to face with Emily. She leaned in to plant a kiss on your forehead, wrapping her arms protectively around you.
"I love you, Y/N.”
"I love you, too."
Long after you dozed off, Emily remained awake. She wanted to remember how your body molded perfectly against hers, the smell of your shampoo and how your hair tickled her nose, and how her heart beat differently when she was around you. She worried about how you would hold up if something happened to her. She tried to stay as still as possible to not disturb your sleep. After what felt like hours, she let sleep overcome her as well.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
The next day, you woke up to an empty bed. Emily had already left as she usually did, but this time it came with a heavy, lingering feeling. Of what, you weren't sure yet.
You sat up in bed and glanced at the alarm clock on Emily's bedside table, which told you that it was almost 12pm. You felt something on your forehead and you reached up to find it was a bright pink sticky note. You laughed, remembering how Emily used to leave notes stuck on your forehead if she woke up and left before you.
“Be home soon. I love you,” the note read in Emily’s cursive handwriting. You stuck it to the wall above your nightstand.
You had the day off from work, so you started your day of relaxation. A few hours later, a knock on the door jolted you out of your focus on a TV show you were binging. Your limbs protested as you stood up from the position you’ve been sitting in all day.
A familiar face stood behind the door.
“Andersen?”
Agent Andersen had a solemn expression on his face.
“Y/N, I regret to inform you that Agent Prentiss has been injured in the field. I’ve been sent by Agent Hotchner to bring you to the hospital.”
The world went silent as his words sunk in. This wasn’t the first time during your relationship that Emily had gotten injured, but it wasn’t the kind of thing that got easier every time.
The journey to the hospital was a blur. Before you knew it, you were in the waiting room. A heavy silence occupied the room as you and the team waited for an update.
Finally, the doors opened and you stood up, almost falling over until Rossi took your arm. With one look at JJ’s face, you knew your worst fears had come true.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
It’s been seven months since Emily died. Seven months since you attended her funeral. Seven months since you quit your job, packed your bags, and left town without telling anyone.
You’ve been living in a permanent state of anxiety and grief ever since Emily’s passing. You could barely register anything happening around you, not with the words “she never made it off the table” echoing in your mind constantly. You currently resided in New York with your friend, who was in their first year of residency and basically lived at the hospital, so you had the apartment to yourself a majority of the time.
You became vaguely aware of your phone ringing as you pulled yourself out of your daze. You were surprised and confused when the caller ID read Hotch’s name. The first month after your very sudden departure, your phone was bombarded with calls from each member of the BAU. As time passed and their calls kept going unanswered, they ceased their contact. Occasionally, you would get a few voicemails from Penelope who would update you on things happening in her life and to tell you that she missed you.
“Hi.”
“Y/N,” Hotch’s voice lifted in surprise. “I wasn’t sure if you would answer.”
You sighed.
“Well, here I am.”
“I’m…” Hotch trailed off for a second. “I’m calling because I need you to come back to Quantico.”
“Not interested.”
“I wouldn’t be asking if this wasn’t important, Y/N,” Hotch spoke quickly before you could hang up.
You thought about it for a moment.
“I’ve already sent the jet your way. JJ will meet you at the airport.”
You chuckle.
“I haven’t agreed yet.”
“I think you’ll want to be back here. Just trust me.”
The thought of reuniting with JJ and the rest of the team was tempting. You hadn’t realized how much you missed them all these months.
“Okay.”
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
JJ met up with you at the airport runway, pulling you into a tight embrace that you reciprocated. The two of you caught up with each other as the jet got ready for takeoff.
JJ sat up straight, her face becoming serious but still warm.
“Y/N, there’s something I need to tell you before we land.”
You held her gaze, sensing a hint of anxiety in her voice.
“What is it?”
Just like seven months ago in that waiting room, the world stopped spinning when you heard JJ’s words. You sat like a statue as she recounted the events, from Emily’s transfer to Paris to the team taking down Doyle at last.
When you were unresponsive for too long, JJ gently touched your hand.
“Emily is alive?” you ask for confirmation, not believing what you heard.
“Yes.”
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Your steps from the runway into the office were quick and frantic, even JJ had to try to keep up with you. Through the glass doors of the office, you made eye contact with Hotch.
“Emily’s alive? Where is she? Is she here?”
Hotch didn’t answer your rapid-fire questions, but he swiftly led you into his office. Your heart was beating out of your chest and you could hear each pump of blood.
The figure in the room turned around and you gasped when your eyes met brown ones that you thought you would never see again. The Emily that stood before you had small changes in her appearance, but she was still your beloved Emily.
Emily approached you slowly, as one might approach a scared puppy.
“Y/N.”
You let out a sob, diving forward and pulling Emily into your embrace. She held you, tenderly stroking your hair as you cried into her neck. Tears sprang into Emily’s eyes as she felt her heart begin to mend having you in her arms.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…” Emily repeated softly. “I had to keep us safe until Doyle was captured. I’m so sorry I had to leave you, and that I had to lie to you.”
You shook your head, pulling away slightly to see her face.
“You had no choice, I understand. I’m just glad you’re here. I thought I lost you for good.”
“You’ll never lose me again,” Emily wiped a tear from your cheek. “These past seven months have been hell without you. All I could think about was how rocky our relationship had been in the months before I left. I promise you that I won’t let us go back to that. It’s not going to be easy, and I have a lot of issues to work through, but I’m going to put in the work. I trust you wholeheartedly, Y/N.”
You smile at her words, feeling that things will be different this time around.
“That means a lot to me, Em.”
Emily tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, cradling your chin in her hand.
“Let’s go home, okay?”
“Let’s go home.”

sinner and saint
content: fluff, modern!au gojo, lowkeybf!gojo, this was written like last year so it's kinda forgotten but whatevs, im sure he's that guy who would do crazy things like that
Tumblr media
a saint and a sinner. that's how people would call a trope like you two have.
you, y/n l/n, a saint—who grew up in a secluded family who thinks morality, being demure, and growing up like a holy being matters the most.
he, satoru gojo, a sinner—who grew up in a harsh environment but that did not stop him from being himself, a reckless little one, a total opposite of you.
but there was something in him that caught you head over heels. you couldn't even describe him properly on how you fell in love with him because your mind is a mess when his name reaches your brain—in a good way though.
all you can say is that he kissed you one time, and there you knew, and there you have it, love blooms whenever he goes.
meanwhile, from his perspective, it was different. satoru thinks you're way too out of league for him. but that does not halt him, either you, to show your full adoration towards each other. being with you is like a grace from above, he did not pray for it nor manifest it, you just came into his life and he found a reason to continue.
"come on, y/n. it'll not be that bad." a voice whispers from your windowsill. it belongs to your lowkey boyfriend, satoru, who snuck out from their house just to have a late night walk with you.
"hush! are you even aware what time it is?!" you whispered-ly yelled, worried for satoru that he might get caught. knowing that you grew up in a strict slash religious slash mentally draining household. of course, discrimination has no escape in your family.
your lover took a glance at your analog clock by the wall, he glanced up to you with a coy smile, decorating those luscious lips. "it's 11:37 pm, my love. you never told me that you do not know how to read an analog clock." satoru said with full cockiness in his tone.
a glare was sent towards the latter's way as you escalated a sigh at his silliness (you admire him for that). how did you even go in this situation? simple, he was reckless and you love him.
well actually, it all started when he passed you a note during school time. the paper itself looked like a contract more than an invitation, it stated that he was hoping you would join him in a late night walk around your neighborhood's vicinity.
you and your boyfriend live nearby each other. that is why everytime the school ends, you two would always go home together (with matching holding hands, of course). thankfully, the gossipers in your town did not suspect the two of you at all. with extreme carefulness and instinct, the two of you manage to hide your relationship from everybody.
and occasionally, he would steal a kiss from you when it's late and no one was nearby. this always never fails to make your stomach feel like there's a whole sanctuary of butterflies dancing inside.
"i did not even agree with this thing you're saying." back to the present, satoru has been nagging you constantly about this late night walk he's been excited about.
"but you did not disagree, either. So, i guess now that I'm here, you could make up your mind?" satoru planted his hand on his cheeks, looking at you so innocently.
did I mention that he was still literally dangling outside? like his feet were still planted on the roof that he climbed just to be here in your room.
"what if we got caught?" you mumbled, slowly walking back and forth, a habit of yours whenever you feel anxious.
"oh sweetheart, come here." he made you kneel by the window. his warm hands made you feel secure as he cupped your face, looking dead straight in your eyes.
"listen, you know that i would not do anything that will put you in danger, am I right?" you nodded, making satoru smile before planting a small peck right in your nose. "if we ever got caught, which i don't think will be happening in this current situation, i would be fully accountable and i would face the consequences alone."
"don't say that." your eyebrows immediately submerged into a frown.
"say what?"
your fingers reach for his face too, delicately caressing every inch of the face you love. "it's unfair that it would be only you who is at fault. i now want this too. don't taint your name alone with the mistakes we both make." there's a hint of pain and upset in your voice, which did not go unnoticed by your lover.
satoru immediately places a kiss on your forehead to cease the frown forming in your frame. "hey. i'm sorry, okay? i didn't mean to invalidate you. i just want what's best for you." he noticed your tense muscles suddenly came to loose, kind of relieved from what he said to you.
"you're the best for me." you let out your sweetest smile that even ants might get diabetes. you could also see your satoru blushes as his cheeks in your palm suddenly become more warmer and the tip of his ears are visibly red.
"ooh~? someone's blushing?" you teasingly said. the gentleman in front of you chuckles as he takes your fingers and kisses all of your fingertips.
"mmh…i am, indeed." his voice is so sultry that it was your turn to blush—maybe harder than he was earlier.
the couple giggled to each other as they continued to exchange endearing words and sweet little kisses. teenage love is really sweet. for sure when they grow up, this kind of memory would be stamped permanently in their brains.
"this might sound cheesy to you but whatever, i'm just going to say what I want to say."
"alright, but first, why don't you come inside? i'm worried you might get a cold from hanging out there…"
"eh, this is more convenient since you're coming out with me." he just offered you a thumbs up before proceeding to his next speech. you waited for him patiently with a gentle smile decorating your lips.
"as i was saying, whenever you would run your fingers through my hair as we watched the lights of the city go wild, you kept your eyes to me—only to me. at first, it feels wrong but you make it enough just to make it right."
"because i never thought that i would end up with you. a living goddess, a saint, a careful daughter—you're way too opposite of me. but, whenever i see you smile, i...i can see the sparks fly."
"i remember it all, that summer afternoon of July 7th—you held my hand and led me towards the staircase of our classroom building. you whisper my name ever so slowly and softly, and then you say you love me. god! that made me get so captivated by you, everything blooms like a fireworks show."
his blue eyes dived deep inside your own, swimming further as he got lost by your warmth. it held pure praise and adoration for you, and only you. every inch of his body screams that you only own him. That applies the same to you as to satoru.
"so, my love, would you like to go out with me?" your lover lends out his hand, encouraging you to join him into a reckless adventure. with tears slowly formulating in your eyes, you manage to let out a contented laugh—clearly touched by his confesst.
"do I really have to say anything when you literally told me a while ago the reason why you have decided to stay there by the window is that it is more convenient since you're coming out with me?"
satoru blushes slightly. "oh shush! don't make me embarrassed and just say your answer."
your eyes disappeared as you gave her your signature eyed smile, something you would only do when you feel extremely happy.
"whenever there's you, i will always follow you."
"is that a yes?" sometimes, your boyfriend is a big mood killer with his stinky ass jokes that make you want to throw him into the ocean and feed to those little fish who need his nutrients.
"do you not hear what i have said?" your eyes squint over his mischievousness.
"said what?"
this mother—
"okay, i changed my mind. goodnight." without a second thought, you turned your heel away and started to lay down on your bed.
"wait! No, no ,no! my love, i'm just joking—like really! i am just so happy you accepted my offer." you saw satoru struggle to stop you through your peripheral vision, it makes you smile but you remembered that you're annoyed, so you stop yourself.
"hmph! let's just go, we still have class tomorrow." he smiled at your answer before helping you to sneak out through the window.
mumbling some careful words, both of you successfully touch the ground without making any noises. a harsh wind of the night blew within your skins, as you were only wearing a thin fabric of your nightgown.
"here. good thing i bought you some of my extra hoodies." you grin at your boyfriend's caring attitude as he even helps you wear it.
the walk around your subdivision is just perfect and calming. just you and satoru, walking hand in hand, swaying your collided hands occasionally. the moon and the stars above are twinkling, serving as your light along with the light posts near the sidewalk.
"i've always wanted to do this, walking alone with you. i like it that it's just the two of us, i could kiss you anytime i want." you punched his arm weakly and told him to cut it out, but satoru was serious with his words.
"i love you—"
*drip*
"it's raining? damn, i should've checked the weather first." you man mumbles under his breath and was about to pull you to the nearest shelter when you held his hands. stopping, his blue eyes trailed at you with confusion.
"let's just stay here for a while."
"but baby, you might get sick."
"i won't." you let out a laugh as you pull satoru in the middle of the road, inviting him for a waltz. his hands slowly trail on your curves as you wrap your arms around his neck.
two eyesights are swimming to each other's gaze, drowning themselves with love and neverending adoration.
both of your foreheads are leaning to each other, still swaying and hands are clasping. satoru blew a peck on your nose, he could feel the coldness from the rain—but it was just right because of how the distance of your bodies brings warmth to each other.
"y/n, can i kiss you?" satoru's blue eyes bore into your own orbs, filled with extreme love and adoration towards you.
"you don't have to ask me." answering with the same loudness and softness, you smiled at your lover.
gently, satoru adjusted his grip on your waist before slowly capturing your lips with his. the dynamic rhythm of your kiss matches the dampness of the rain, creating a romantic air within your vicinity.
this is perfect. you couldn't ask for more, he couldn't ask for more. once again, teenage love is indeed very sweet when you're with that one memorable person. in this case, you and satoru are that memorable person.
who knew that a sinner and a saint had this fascinating chemistry?

An Important Notice
Almost every time I read a fanfic or see what people say on Tumblr and Pinterest, Inej is perceived as this perfect angel with no flaws and Kaz is the one who needs fixing.
This is really annoying.
Listen, people, Inej is amazing, don't get me wrong. She's one of the best characters in all of literature and I look up to her as a role model, but she's not perfect. She is not a saint or an angel, she's a human. Even she can be stubborn and arrogant from time to time. Let's not forget how she doubted Wylan's demo ability at the beginning of SOC. Her line, "I will have you without your armor, Kaz Brekker, or I will not have you at all," is iconic and I understand the meaning, but it's still a bit hypocritical when you think about it. She's telling Kaz to make himself vulnerable but it's not like she's that open about her own vulnerabilities either.
As for Kaz, the poor baby is almost always painted in the wrong light. He's the one with all the flaws, the one who doesn't deserve anything but misery, and the one who needs fixing. Even if he's just a character, I feel bad and think perhaps sometimes the Grishaverse fandom isn't fair to him. In the books, Kaz told Wylan how he shouldn't feel ashamed of his disability, VERBALLY said that he wanted to give himself up for the Crows, and didn't allow Jesper to use Parem even though it was a very efficient way to gain the victory. He even gave Nina Matthias's share of the kruge despite having the option to take it for himself.
And for Inej, the sweetheart did as much as he could. 😭
He was dead set on saving her at the beginning of CK and stopped at nothing until she was with him again. And his line, "I would have come for you, and if I couldn't walk, I'd crawl to you." He said he would crawl, CRAWL!! Fucking crawl to her, and knowing Kaz, he so would if he had to. And then he liquidated all, not some, all of his assets, every single cent, he gave it all up for her. To fully free her from the Menagerie. In the end, he bought her a ship, found her parents, and even went as far as taking off his gloves and holding her hand for a long time IN PUBLIC!!!! At the harbour where anyone could see. In fact, he's the reason why she's where she is in the first place. He got her out, gave her a knife, and made her dangerous. He gave her the freedom to grace the rooftops in the dead of night and haunt the streets. He gave her the option to leave if she wanted. HE LOVED HER TO THE POINT WHERE HE LET HER GO BECAUSE HER HAPPINESS AND DESIRES MATTER MORE TO HIM THAN HIS OWN!!!
He's not that bad okay. I know he's very flawed and traumatized, but he's got a very big heart, he just doesn't show it. He gave Jesper a place to go, provided Wylan with protection, and allowed Nina and Matthias to reunite. He formed the plans for the Ice Court and ended Van Eck and Pekka Rollins while doing his best to ensure that the Crows would stay alive. But still, he's the only one who has to fix himself. Some fans still think that he isn't worthy of Inej. Meanwhile, Inej is the perfect, flawless angel. I thought people didn't like a Mary Sue. And Inej isn't a Mary Sue, she has flaws, she has weak points, and she has things that she needs to work through as well.
For those of you who read all this, thank you for sparing some time.

The Other Woman - 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRINGS: Andy Barber x Detective!Reader
SUMMARY: The stress on the case is penting up. So are you and Andy. But you can't do anything about it, he's married and you're both supposed to be working on this case. But can you resist him when he looks at you like that?
WARNINGS: Swearing, smut, mentions of cheating (not on reader), angst (if you squint).
WORD COUNT: 1,059
*not proof-read* ENJOY!
“We can’t keep doing this,” he whispers, while facing away from you.
He buckles his belt, and the clinking makes you force yourself to see the man in front of you get dressed. All while you’re naked being hides within the caves of your plush comforter.
You laugh inside at the sheer contrast of your position.
The rain splatters outside, it hits against your window like a warning.
As if saying ‘I told you so’.
You ignore it.
You ignore the fact that the rain is fucking right.
“What do you mean?” you ask pulling the covers closer to your chest as you see him put on his shirt. His muscles flex as he buttons up his garment; however, his jaw ticks with stress of the current event.
“I mean,” he sticks his tongue to the inside of his cheek, “this has to ease down,” he finally looks in your direction. Your eyes widen slightly; you didn’t expect him to be subtle but also blunt in meaning.
You scoff from your place, “are you being for real, right now?” The audacity of this man to come crawling to you in the first place, asking for solace. And, is now trying to be the saint in all of this sinful, silent havoc, the peace in all of this emotional war.
He twists the ring on his left-ring finger and shakes his head as if convincing himself that the one month of messing around, behind his wife’s back, was still an all clear in whatever fucked up realm he lives in his head.
“Look, I have a wife-,” he starts slowly, but you interrupt him immediately.
“That’s what I said, when you threw yourself at me in the first place,” you tell over him. Sliding off the bed, you pull on a pair of underwear and the closet shirt you could find.
“I know, sweetheart, I kn-,” he tries to talk over you, but you walk and pointedly shove your finger into his chest.
“Don’t you dare call me that. You knew the amount shit you were going to put you- no. Us, through when you walked into my apartment that night, Andrew,” you say slightly narrowing your eyes at him.
His deep blues are so bright, it’s like they glow in your bedroom.
They were once filled with lust, passion and excitement. Now they are full of indecisiveness and sorrow.
He whispers your name, “I’m sorry, it’s just-.”
You can’t help but interrupt him again, “oh my god, you’re actually doing this.”
You back away and run your hands through your hair, you thought you knew him. You thought you knew the real Andrew Barber.
“No, hey, wait. Listen to me, can you at least do that?” He grabs your elbow, gently forcing your look back at him. Your body does, but your eyes are too interested in the intricate details of your clock.
He sighs and rubs your elbow, “Laurie knows something isn’t right.”
You scoff at the mention of her name, you were friends with her once upon a time. That fairytale ended when she talked about how lonely and how much of a workaholic you were behind your back.
“She knows what? That, when you say you’re at the office working on the case, you’re actually with me. Fucking me into my bed,” you deadpan and harshly turn to look him in the eyes.
He winces at your words, “sweetheart-.”
You rip your elbow from his grasp, “what the fuck did I say about calling me that, Andrew.”
You pace back and forth, trying to convince yourself this isn’t happening.
More so, you’re trying to come to terms with the fact that you may not be able to see Andy anymore.
You met the ADA a couple weeks back when you were first put on a case, you had to meet with the lawyer to talk about the coming plans.
What you didn’t expect was the lawyer to be the man that’s currently in your room right now.
You knew he was married and had a kid, so you forcefully pushed your feeling aside.
But you couldn’t resist the little whimper that left your lips every time he’d bite his lip in thought or stripped off his suit jacket if it got too hot or even during the late-night filing work that had to be done, he’d loosen his tie and pop off the first two buttons of his shirt.
Imagine your surprise when he caressed the small of your back, a week after you met. He started to be bold.
He’d call you ‘Detective’ out in the open, it changed to ‘Sweetheart’ behind closed doors.
And so much more happened after, till the both of you were tangled in each other’s arms.
Now?
You’re tangled in each other’s confusion.
“Look, I should’ve phrased it better. We just have to slow down, just for a while,” he runs a hand through his trimmed beard.
“I don’t wanna stop seeing you, and you know that,” he pauses, “don’t you, sweetheart?”
He comes closer and cups your cheek, and you hate the way you lean into his touch.
Because Andy knows you, he knows what you need, what you want.
It’s why you’ve fallen so quickly in the first place, the way he just seemed to figure you out immediately.
You nod and look up at him with your doe-like eyes, “m’sorry, I…. shouldn’t have overreacted.”
You place your palms on his chest, feeling the material under your fingertips.
He leans down and kisses your forehead. “It’s okay, I should’ve known to said it in a proper manner,” he whispers against your skin.
“I love you, sweetheart,” he says, looking into your eyes again.
“I love you,” you say with a small, tired smile on your lips.
He ducks down and kisses your lips with such softness, you think your being whisked away on some cloud.
“I’ll be back, I promise,” he says, giving a final peck before leaving you to stand alone in your room.
You hear him shutting the door on his way out, and it snapes you out of your daze.
Your walls may be empty of his presence, and it will remain as such until he gives you the all clear.
Till then, if time permits you, you’ll hold onto the feeling of his kisses.

Life Is Short So Make It Sweet Masterlist
Tumblr media
“You can try to kick my ass at this.” You smirked as you flicked the cap off of a jameson bottle, the top spinning across the bar's counter till Paulie smacked his hand against it to keep it from spinning onto his floor.
“Oh girl, I know I am going to.” Paulie set down a line of red solo cups between the two of you, his eyes narrowed at your challenge. “Saint Patricks Day is a bartender's Christmas, I’m not about to let you out-flip me at flip cup.” He informed you while taking the bottle of Jameson, pouring some whiskey down the line and finishing the rest of the cups with his green beer.
Edgar at your side scrunched up his face. “So instead of Santa, you have little leprechauns you look forward to? Just fucking creepy man, I hate those little bastards.” He shuddered.
You laughed while bumping your shoulder against Edgar’s. “Even Lucky the lucky charms leprechaun?”
“ESPECIALLY HIM! You know he is a scheming little bastard. You’ve seen the movies, those leprechauns will murder you just because.”
Paulie scoffed at Edgar, setting the bottle and pitcher aside.
“Oooh! That was such a terrible set of movies.” You glanced over your shoulder towards where Curtis was in a game of pool with Ella. “We should watch the leprechaun movie later!” The balls clanked loudly after he took his shot and straightened up, leveling you a look.
“Honey, you taking that line of shots with Paulie, you’re gonna be out of commission tonight.” You scoffed to hide your grin, knowing he was right. After this topped  off with the green beer Paulie was serving to celebrate, you were gonna be wasted. “Okay, tomorrow then.”
Ella piped up from the other side of the pool table. “Oh, I vote sleepover and we build a fort in the living room to watch them. Curtis can make us his hangover cure.”
“Deal.” You gave her some cheesy finger guns while Curtis eyed you, a playful gleam in his expression.
“Remember that when I’m trying to get you out of bed tomorrow.”
“Wait, can I crash this sleepover?” Edgar pouted and you slung your arm over his shoulder, drawing him in close.
“The more the merrier, of course you're invited.” From behind you, you could hear Curtis and Ella debating about the best hangover cures and just how committed Curtis was to cooking for all of you in the morning.
“Okay! Back to what we were doing… Paulie, you ready?”
“At drinking you under the table? Sweetheart I was born ready.” He curled his fingers on one of the cups at one end, preparing. You both stare at each other trying to intimidate the other. “The one with the most flipped cups wins.”
Curtis came up behind you at some point, his hands resting on your tense shoulders, squeezing lightly and you saw Paulie's eyes flicker behind you. “Bet’s on that Y/N gets in more shots. I know my girl, she doesn’t back down from a challenge.”
Oh did that make you tingle all over at his praise. Now you absolutely had to win.
“Prepare to lose your money Everett.” Paulie shot back but you just gave a cool smirk at the man. Edgar watched the clock above the bar and as soon as the second hand hit the new minute mark, his palm slammed down on the bar, making you leap into action.
You were good at this game, college had taught you the efficiency of keeping calm instead of trying to rush in flipping the cups.
Meaning while Paulie was fumbling with some of his flips, yours were steadily flipping in the correct manner, wincing whenever you came across the shots of whiskey, the beer though went down a lot easier.
“Son of a bitch, flip.” Paulie sputtered, seeming to get stuck halfway up the line. You were laser focused, the whiskey making your eyes water with every heavy swallow. Curtis was whispering in your ear about how you were turning him on right then.
“Come’on Pretty Girl. Show them how good my girl is.”
Between that and the burn of alcohol, you were swimming in the rush of it. The last cup flipped and you threw your hands up in victory with a cheer, just barely beating out Paulie by a matter of seconds. From behind you Curtis gave a victory yell, pulling you into him while you were still jumping and dancing in your win.
“Ya got lucky.” Paulie huffed while Curtis reached over you to grab the Jameson bottle and took a drag off it, claiming it for himself.
“My girl has fucking talent.” Curtis praised, his arms enclosing you against his firm chest. Warmth filled you, feeding you till you squirmed back against him, his grunt quietly muffled in your hair.
“Tease.” He whispered, flexing his hold on you to keep you still for now.
The whiskey as well as the rush of excitement had you floating on that feel-good sensation that you were ready to ride till it faded away.
“Alright Y/N, how are we celebrating?” Paulie leaned against the bar after cleaning up the pile of red solo cups and the remnants of jameson spilled across the bar.
“Beers.” You demanded. “St.Patrick’s Day demands it.”
“How about the next round on me then?” Paulie offered, gathering up the pitchers of beer to refill glasses.
“THE WHOLE BAR?” came a shout from somewhere in the room, you suspected it was Ella. Paulie conceded, waving over his customers to claim their free beer.
Curtis took his chance with the rush to the bar, tugging you away from the crowd and slipping the two of you through doors leading to the back rooms and the office. You giggled as he rounded on you, grabbing your hips and swinging you up to wrap your legs around his waist. “We aren’t supposed to be back here.” You chided, teasing as your hand wrapped around the back of his neck, hovering your lips close to his.
“Paulie is too fucking busy now losing part of his profits to notice where we are.” Curtis growled while continuing his mission to get you all to himself. Pushing open the office door with his shoulder, his hand fumbled on the lock while you crashed your mouth to his,
Pinning you back against the door, your head banged back with a soft thud while he traveled away from your lips, grinding into you.
“How's that whiskey treating you Pretty Girl?”
You whimpered when you felt his kiss at your pulse point turn harder, making you tingle at the sensation. “Good, really good…”
“Want me to make it even better?” His mouth finds your ear, teasing you enough to make you bite your lip at the loss of his mouth.
This man knew how to drive you crazy, your body arching to press against his all that much more although he already had you pinned tightly against the door. “Please Curtis?” Your tone is aching and needy, lust filled.
“Fuck when you sound like that.” He growled as his mouth reclaimed yours, swinging you away from the door and falling back into the chair behind the office desk, while your hands reached between you two, tugging his belt open. “It makes me so fucking hard for you.”
“How long do you think we have?” You moved to kiss along his bristled jawline, nipping at his neck while he reached around you to shake the computer mouse and pull up the bar's cameras.
“Plenty of time Pretty Girl.” He wrapped a hand into your hair, pulling you back till you were sitting up straight and his eyes could roam up and down your body, licking his lips like you were just made to be devoured. “Get out of those pants and turn around.” His palm smacked against your ass, making a slapping sound but your jeans kept away any sting. You lifted yourself off to do as he asked, a glance over your shoulder showed him shimming his pants and boxers down off his hips. For good measure, you stripped your shirt off to drop it with your pants.
“We’re gonna have to buy Paulie a new chair.” You giggle as you finally get one of your legs free and Curtis grasps your hips to make you back up, his touch going between your thick thighs to tighten his fingers into your panties, making them rub right up against your clit. “Fuck.” You hiss, rocking your hips enough to create friction.
“Leather chair Pretty Girl, he will never know once I wipe it back down.”
The image of Curtis’s ass cheeks in the leather made you giggle between breathy moans, another glance over your shoulder catching sight of him spitting on his hand and rubbing it up and down his cock. You couldn't muffle the giggles while Curtis pushed aside your panties finally and had you start to lower on him slowly, gentle bounces and thrusts working him in. “Although your ass print should be considered a work of art.” The image of framing the chair with two distinct ass cheek imprints having you laughing harder until Curtis pushed you down into his lap.
“You're a fucking work of art, remind me to nail you up against a wall later.” He stated, his hands flexing in appreciation along the curve of your hips.
A gasp escaped you, falling back into his chest with a buzzed grin plastered on your face. “I ever tell you how much I love feeling you. Mmmhh when I first met you I said ‘Y/N, that man has a cock made to ride.”
Curtis snorted behind you, running his hands up your front to tease your breasts in his hands, pushing your bra out of the way. “Was that before you went all teacher mode or after you left?”
You moved your hands over his, making him squeeze harder till he was doing the exact pressure you wanted. “Oh definitely during, the whole time we were walking around and I had to ask those questions. Good thing I had my note cards or else I would have failed at being logical.”
You felt the press of his smile against your cheek and a groan coming from him, followed by a curse.  Squeezing your cunt around him always made him a little more vocal and you loved hearing him. “Wanna know what I was thinking the whole time?” He muttered in your ear before pushing you forward to sit up, your hands landing on the desk edge in front of you and his own touch slid down to your hips.
Digging into you like he was holding on.
“How this perfect fucking cunt was made to take my cock.” He thrusted up hard, making you jolt in his lap and flutter excitedly. “Knowing how god damn sexy you would be when you went mindless, begging for more.” He started faster, making you bounce on him. Your hands tightened their grip on Paulie’s desk to keep you from falling forward, the jolts making your little sounds escaping broken sounding almost pathetic. “How you played sweet and innocent that day, but I knew that was just a show…”
Your head nodded, your ass slapping down onto his lap now, your body jiggling in the forceful movements. His cock pounding into you was making your eyes roll, how good it felt to feel him fuck into you over and over. “T’was Curtis, I wanted…”
“Wanted what Pretty Girl?” He asked, his tongue and teeth sinking into your shoulder blade and kissing your flexing back. Sure there would be a mark on you, his mark and that satisfied him on a whole other level.
“That.”
“What’s that?” Curtis let go of your hips, to roam his hands over you, palming your breast again and squeezing till you shuddered in his hold. Your own touch flew back to grab at the back of his head, holding on.
“To be dirty for you.”
He hissed when your cunt fluttered again, squeezing and sucking him back in, like you never wanted him to leave. “Fuck you are, you would get down right now and suck my cock, or bend over this desk wouldn’t you? All with the office camera rolling for a video.”
Your head nodded, tilting back with parted lips crying his name out louder than you should have. His hand at your chest slapped over your lips, muffling your cries. “My pretty little whore, we gotta be quiet.”
You didn't care, the alcohol buzzing in your system, sneaking off with Curtis and him talking like this to you was making you stupid with pleasure. Your pants were rushed, the slap of your body against his and the creak of the leather was just adding to it all. The small office felt heated, now smelled of sex, and you couldn't stop giggling behind his palm. “You gonna come for me, soak this cock?”
A firm nod had you grabbing at his hand still wrapped at your waist, shoving it between your thighs with a moaning yes when his fingertips pressed against your clit. A deep laugh, knowing that you needed to have that touch in order to get yourself off. “Come on Pretty Girl.” He grunted in your ear, the twirl of his fingers and the rub he was giving your clit making your heart race, the tension just before coming building, swiftly now. Like you were about to crash. “Someone is gonna come looking for us, and see you spread all out on this chair with my cock buried deep in this weeping cunt. You don’t want that do you?” The snap of his teeth signaling just how close Curtis was.
No? Maybe? You knew it gave you a rush, which just added to the moment. “Curtis!” His name falling from you like a prayer muffled behind his palm, ready to crash into shattered oblivious pieces, falling apart in his lap where he yanked you back, the slap of his hips underneath you had his cock pushing into your squelching cunt while chasing for his own orgasm now that you came.
Yours left you floating, giving yourself over to him to use you however he wanted while you just let yourself continue enjoying the buzz of sex and alcohol.
“Fuck, FUCK!” Curtis’s muffled roar was against your shoulder, biting onto you with a grunt as he pulled you hard onto him one last time, warmth making you clench on him again, rocking your hips slightly with a satisfied moan of your own. Your head tilted into his, both of you panting heavily to catch your breaths when his hand dropped from your mouth and rested against your heaving chest, his palm flattening against the racing of your heart.
“We should sneak in here more often.” You snickered while pushing up to sit, Curtis sliding his hands around your waist and following up to hug you from behind, letting his face press against your shoulder.
“Don’t worry, I know where Paulie hides his office keys for when he starts locking the door.” He muttered, pressing kisses across the top of your back to the other shoulder. “Move that mouse, see where he is.”
You leaned forward to shove the mouse enough to take off the old school screensaver, peering at the grainy screen. "Still at the bar, busy too. Looks like Saint Patrick's Day really is his Christmas.”
“Good…” Curtis gave a push to have the chair roll back away from the desk a bit. “Turn around so I can hold you proper for a few minutes before we go back out there.”
“Does he really have cameras in here Curtis?” Your eyes bounced around, searching. You certainly didn’t want Paulie seeing this on video.
“No Honey, I helped him set them up and he just has one facing the door, not inside.” His lips pressed against your shoulder and then helped you to stand, your legs a bit wobbly and twist around to sit back in his lap, the leather chair giving a groan once more, making you break out in a giggle.
Nothing was gonna ruin your mood tonight, not even knowing the chances you were gonna have a hangover could kill the high you were feeling right now. His arms wrapped back around you, palms brushing up and down your back while you tucked yourself in against his chest, silence filling the room. “You know I am really looking forward to tomorrow.” You tucked your face on his shoulder, letting your hand rest against his chest, playing with his chain, your fingers twisting in it.
“Mmhh, is it the fact you are making a fort on the living room floor with Ella and Edgar to watch Leprechaun? Or the hangover cure I’m supposed to make you guys?”
“Both.” You lifted your head, finding his lips with yours and giving him a slow affectionate kiss. “I love you very much. For much more than you making me feel really good in Paulie’s office, which he is gonna be pissed about.” You were sure to point out as his grin grew, his arms tightening just a little more to keep you in close to him. “Although I do feel really really good, and that's only a little bit from the jameson.” You rambled on and Curtis couldn’t help his reaction, his head tipping back and a deep chested booming laughter sounded, making you feel so happy to see him happy.
Maybe you were more than buzzed.
“I'm glad that it's seventy five percent me, twenty five percent whiskey?” Curtis ventured a guess, catching your chin in his forefinger and thumb to tilt your mouth back to his.
“More than that, like ninety-ten.” You mumbled against his lips, the two of you teasing each other with soft playful pecks. “But i'm definitely drunk now.”
“Mmh, I can tell Honey.” His answer was softer now, sighing against your lips. “I love you for giving me these moments in life.” His touch lingered on your face, cupping your cheek and this kiss was moved from your mouth up to your forehead, giving you a whole other satisfying sensation, one that curled into your heart. His gaze fell back to the computer screen with a soft shit under his breath. “Incoming Honey.”
Right behind you was a pound on the door. “You two better not be fucking in my office!”
You squealed, hiding against Curtis as if Paulie was gonna come barging in, which he wasn’t, he knew better. “Busted.” You loudly whispered while Curtis muffled his laughter once again.
“Give us five minutes…. TEN!” Curtis shouted, watching the camera to see Paulie storming back towards the bar, sputtering.
“I need to bake him some cookies to apologize.” You said solemnly as you too watched the camera’s with a twist of your head looking over your shoulder.
“You do that Honey so I can taste test them.” He gripped your chin to turn you back to look at him. “Kiss me Honey? I’m-”
You didn’t let him finish, your lips pressing to his, cutting off the last of his words.

November 2nd, No Touch/Watching
Steve can do this. All he needs to do is focus on just how annoying Eddie can be, and he can totally do this! There are dirty dishes all over the living room, empty water cups on his bedside table that he never takes to the sink in the morning. The bathroom is a mess of shed hair even though it seems like Eddie never even brushes it, and the sink is full of globs of toothpaste. Steve cleans up after him like a maid, and it’s one of the most annoying things about their relationship. Yet still all he can think about is dressing up in a little french maid costume to tease Eddie into ripping it off of him.
It’s only been a day.
Steve must be an idiot for thinking he could do this. It’s not like they put any money on the bet, or if they had, like Eddie would hold him to it. Since being cut off, Steve has learned his expensive hair products and cologne and even fucking groceries are just that: expensive. Eddie is a saint, putting up with him learning to use coupons and compare the price of things to the ounce to get the best deal just so he can afford his little taste of luxury. Steve will be damned if his parents cause him to lose the one thing he’s ever been known for that he was slightly okay with after high school. He once was and will always be ‘the hair’. Plus, the first time Eddie called him sweetheart was the result of his Sauvage cologne, loudly proclaiming “you smell like a dream, sweetheart!” So, you know, that’s a must.
But maybe, just maybe, if Eddie cracked first, Steve could get out of this whole thing without punishment (because if he’s being honest, he just knows there will be one). Maybe there really is something to the whole french maid costume idea. So Steve does the unthinkable. He dips into his change bowl. He’s been saving up his tips at the little diner he and Robin are working at these days in a little pinch pot Eddie made in a high school pottery class. Eddie tried to throw it away when they were packing up to move into their little apartment, but Steve clutched it close to his chest and said it was too beautifully done, surely a good luck charm. And maybe it was a projection of his subconscious, or maybe customers tipped better when he was happy, but Steve always brought home the most at the end of the night when he gave the pot a little kiss before leaving for his shift.
He has just enough in there for gas and a discounted costume from the Halloween store that's closing down soon in the next town over. Eddie texted to say he’ll be late, so he has plenty of time to make the half hour drive and hope to god there’s some kind of maid outfit left in the women’s section. He knows he’ll go unrecognized, and the employees probably don’t care what he’s buying at all, but he still wears a hat and ducks his head when he’s perusing the aisles. His eye catches exactly what he’s looking for. A short black dress with puffy sleeves and frilly white lace, a white apron that ties around the hips, a little black choker necklace with a bell, and a little headband with a half circle of lacy white fabric.
The cashier gives him a slightly bemused chuckle when he sets the costume on the counter, but rather than let the heat of embarrassment he feels rushing through him surface, he cocks a hip and settles into the familiarity of bitchiness.
“What?” he snaps, when it takes the cashier a beat longer than it should to scan a single item and read out his total.
The guy smirks and shakes his head. “Classic. Do you not recognize me or something? I saw you like a week ago, dude.”
The truth is Steve was refusing to meet his eye since the moment he stepped up to the counter, but now that the guy has said something, Steve recognizes those curls, that slightly boyish face, and, oh fuck. He’s standing in front of Gareth.
“Not a word Emerson.” Steve bites out, but he feels the tinge of red finally hit his cheeks.
“You know this won’t work, right?”
“What do you mean?”
“Dude, I was the one who brought up no nut November in the first place. And your facial expressions are not as subtle as you think they are. I could practically hear your thoughts about it the whole time, and I’m assuming Eddie made a bet with you as soon as you left.”
“Oh. Right. Just don’t tell him?”
Gareth hums noncommittally and tells Steve his total. Steve hands him the cash and awkwardly thanks him before grabbing the costume and running back to his car, lest he miraculously be spotted by anyone else he knows.
The interaction all but dissipates from his mind on the drive home, replaced by scenarios of what Eddie might do to him when he comes home to Steve in this outfit. Bend him over the kitchen counter, rip the lacie panties he’s wearing right off of him and blow his back out to oblivion. Steve’s face heats up in the silence of the drive home. He didn’t bother turning music on, too consumed by his own thoughts. His mind drifts all the way home, without something tangible to lock onto. He’s home before he knows it, rushing up the stairs to the apartment and throwing on the costume without a second’s hesitation. In total, the trip took him a little over an hour, so Eddie should be home any minute.
Steve busies himself pretending to dust Eddie’s minis on the bookshelf in the living room. They’re kept on the top shelf, so even with Steve’s height, he has to stand on his tiptoes to reach. The skirt rides up just over the plush of his thighs and exposes the black lace of his panties just as the front door opens.
“Honeyyy I’m hooome!” Eddie’s voice comes out in a delightful singsong, which fills Steve’s chest with warmth. It’s the same way Eddie always greets him, which, however sweet it may be, he was expecting a little more of a reaction if he’s totally honest.
Steve turns his head, hoping to find at least a smirk on Eddie’s lips. Something that shows he’s acknowledged Steve’s gift, but he’s not standing by the door anymore. His jacket and boots have been kicked off and left haphazardly in the middle of the floor and Eddie is in the kitchen… making himself a snack? Steve grumbles and walks over to the entrance, picking up the mess Eddie’s made in less than a minute, and tucking them away on the shoe rack and coat hook less than a foot away. Walking hurricane, Steve thinks.
Eddie hums a light tune from the kitchen. He hasn’t looked at Steve ONCE and he knows because his own eyes have been boring holes into the side of Eddie’s head since he walked in. Steve follows to the kitchen and does his best to gain Eddie’s attention. Steve grabs an arm and lifts it until he can slide between the counter and Eddie’s chest, their noses touching. Eddie can’t help his smile as he nuzzles Steve’s cheek.
“Hi princess. How was your day?” Sweet. Casual. Not at all what Steve was going for.
“It was fine. I spent the whole day cleaning up after you.”
“Oh really? The whole day, huh?” Eddie kisses the tip of Steve’s nose and goes back to spreading peanut butter across a piece of bread.
“Well, most of the day.” Steve steps out of his orbit now, walking across the kitchen to watch Eddie eat his pb&j. He folds his arms and honest to god pouts.
“Aw, sweetheart. What’s wrong?” Eddie finally looks Steve up and down, only, rather than a reaction, all he gets is level headedness. Eddie knows what’s wrong. Steve knows he does, but he’s pretending nothing is out of the ordinary and for some reason, being ignored is not helping Steve’s desires for this stupid challenge to end.
Steve sighs, maybe a bit heavier than is necessary. “Nothing, Eddie. I’m fine.” His voice comes out shorter than he means it to, but, well, he had harnessed bitchiness just an hour or so earlier with the familiarity of swinging his nailbat, and it’s hard to just tuck that back away. He starts to walk away in a huff, but Eddie’s hand reaches out to stop him. There’s a flicker, just the slightest hint of desire when his eyes shoot up from the crease of Steve’s ass, but he schools his expression back to one of complete control before speaking again.
“I’m sorry sweetheart. Did you get all dressed up for me?”
“Duh.”
“Watch it,” Eddie’s hand snaps up to grip Steve by the chin, shaking him to meet Eddie’s gaze. “Did you really think this would work, Stevie?”
And now, this Steve can play along with. “Think what would work?”
“Honey, you have to know Gareth texted me as soon as you left, right?”
Steve sputters. “W– B– I asked him not to say anything,” he whines.
“And you know what he said to me? Bros before hoes, my sweet.” Eddie laughs at him, then. Really, truly laughs at the face Steve pulls because he really thought he’d gotten away with it.
“‘M not a hoe,” he grumbles, his gaze falling as his cheeks redden in Eddie’s grip.
“Are you sure about that? You drove out of town today just to get yourself a slutty little costume. And all because you thought I would rip it off as soon as I laid eyes on you. I have to admit, it probably would’ve worked had I not been tipped off.”
“I’m going to kill Gareth.”
“Oh, I think he did you a favor, honey. The payoff will be oh so sweet. Just, not right now.” Eddie lets Steve’s face go and pulls a chair away from the dining table. “Right now, I want you to take this chair into the bedroom, facing away from the bed, and sit politely. Don’t. Change.”
Steve’s confusion is evident, but he complies nonetheless, scraping the legs of the chair across the floor as he goes. His nerves alight as he takes his seat, the short skirt riding up so just the lace of his panties press against the cold lacquered wood of the chair. He can hear Eddie shuffling around the kitchen, the sound of his plate clinking down into the sink. Steve briefly thinks he’ll have to clean that up later too, but then he hears the water running. Eddie never does dishes. He’s making him wait. The thought sends a shiver up his spine in tandem to the heat pooling down low in his gut. It feels like there’s a rod in his spine, keeping him sitting up straight, palms down on his thighs. Steve hears footsteps close to the door, but still Eddie doesn’t enter. Instead he walks right past the bedroom to the bathroom. Closing the door and starting the shower.
No. No fucking way. Eddie is not leaving him here half hard in an itchy polyester dress while he takes one of his famous hour long showers. He can’t.
He does.
Or at least, Steve thinks he does. He doesn’t know how long he’s left sitting there, really, because his mind is swimming with the sound of Eddie. He’s humming Corroded Coffin’s originals, the ones Steve knows were written about him, and he can hear the water splashing off of him. Steve has never once been grateful for their thin walls until now. His soft singing is interrupted only occasionally by a little moan as Steve imagines he ghosts over his hard cock. His mouth waters at the thought of it laying hot and heavy on his tongue. His own dick is throbbing painfully at the thought, at the restraint he’s showing, at Eddie’s ruthless teasing.
Finally, finally the water turns off and Eddie comes to their room. The door creaks open slowly and Steve tries to turn his head to take a peek at the towel wrapped low on Eddie’s hips, but he only gets a short glimpse at the obvious bulge and swirling black ink creeping out of the white cloth before fingers snap at him and he’s looking back at the wall. Steve’s skin is crawling, his muscles aching to turn and look, to see the sight of his boyfriend wet and lean and hard. His hands grip into his thighs until he thinks he’ll leave bruises on himself, wants to put his hands on Eddie, bruise Eddie. But he’s a good boy, and there’s a part of him, no matter how bratty, who just wants to please Eddie.
And then he hears it. Those same low moans come more clearly now that there’s no wall separating them and Steve knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will not be getting what he wants. He knows Eddie will stay true to his word no matter how he tries to tempt him. In fact, Eddie is playing his own game right back at him, and he’s damn near winning. Because now Steve can hear the slick of his pre sliding up and down the shaft, and he can hear Eddie’s breathing get faster and all the sounds with no ability to touch Eddie, or even himself are making his cock weep against his stomach, sticking out of the lace waistband, red and angry.
“You can look now, sweetheart.” Eddie grunts out between broken moans.
Steve whips around at breakneck speed, tripping over himself to stare hungrily at Eddie laid out and wanting him. As much as Eddie can read Steve, Steve can read him right back, and he can see how badly Eddie wants his mouth on him. The chair tips over and clatters to the ground as Steve scrambles to be by Eddie’s side. A scolding voice stops him before he can get a hand on his boyfriend.
“I said look. Not touch. Behave yourself, princess.”
Steve whines. It comes from somewhere deep in his throat, fueled by desperation that he can’t find any other way to express. Eddie wants him to behave, and he knows he won’t get what he wants, but he still holds out hope that maybe, just maybe, if he does what Eddie says he’ll get what he needs. He lays his head down on the bed next to Eddie’s hip and stares, his eyes crossing with each stroke. Eddie’s hands are large with long fingers that could practically fit Steve’s whole length in his fist. It’s like Steve can feel the ghost of the sensation on his own neglected cock as his eyes track each movement.
Eddie’s fist glides down to the base, his fingertips grazing over his balls. His hands move deliberately slowly, running the tips of his fingers over the vein on the underside until he reaches the tip and squeezes. More pre leaks out and Steve has to physically restrain himself from leaning up to lick it off and swallow him whole.
“Good boy,” Eddie teases, and it’s then that he notices Eddie is watching him just as intently.
Good boy. Good. Steve is good. Eddie’s good boy. All for him.
The praise both helps him stay where he is and causes his dick to jump and strain against his panties. Eddie understands without needing to hear a word from Steve and his breathing picks up, a constant slew of praise falling from his lips.
“You’re so beautiful, sweetheart. So perfect. I can’t believe you went out and bought this just for me. Did you dip into your tip jar for this?”
“Mmhm.” Steve nods, his face rolling in a wet spot on the bed. Oh. He’s drooling.
“Fuck, baby. You’re never going to make it are you?”
“No,” Steve whimpers. He wants to argue, but his filter is long gone now, and all he can do is agree with whatever Eddie says, be his perfect boy. Well, almost perfect. “Please Eddie. Please let me taste you. I need it.”
“Fuck, Stevie,” Eddie groans deep and reaches his free hand out to pull Steve in by the nape of the neck. As soon as his lips attach to the head, his tongue darts out and licks over the head, swirling over the slit until hot cum is flooding his mouth and both of their moans are filling the room in a cacophony of noise. Eddie pants, his eyes burning as he tries to school his expression into something less hungry to swallow Steve whole.
“Come here baby, you did so good for me.”
Steve crawls up on the bed, immediately going to straddle Eddie’s hips, but he’s moved to lay down next to Eddie and he wraps his body around Steve from behind.
“Eddie, wh–”
“I said you did good. That doesn’t mean the bet is off, sweetheart.”
“But, I’m so… Eddie, please.”
Eddie sighs, genuine sympathy in his voice when he says: “Honey, look at me.”
Steve rolls over in Eddie’s arms, trying not to grind his aching dick against Eddie’s hips.
“Do you really want to do this, Stevie? And don’t say yes because you think it’s what I want because trust me, it’s taking everything in me not to fuck you within an inch of your life like this. I mean, fuck, we’re keeping this outfit because I can’t get enough of you.”
Steve considers it for a moment, and while the throbbing between his legs is telling him one thing, his mind is telling him entirely another. This may be torture, this month may just kill him, but that, whatever the fuck that scene was, it was one of the hottest things he’s ever experienced, and if this month promises more of that, it may just be worth it.
“I want to. I really do, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it, Eddie. Please don’t be upset if I can’t.”
“Upset? No, no of course not my love. I’m already so proud of you for keeping it together so far. Listen, why don’t we discuss a new safeword of sorts? Something that’s specific to the bet, so if you really can’t do it, you have a way to let me know, yeah?”
Steve’s heart swells. Eddie is proud of him, and more than anything he wants him to feel good. “Okay, thank you, Eddie. Do you have something in mind?”
Eddie giggles. “Well… I noticed you didn’t really want to use the word ‘nut’ when we talked the other day. What if, when you really want to, you ask me to let you nut, and that’s how I’ll know.”
“Ugh, Eddie, come on.” Steve playfully slaps Eddie’s chest, but the smile on his face is unmistakable.
“What? You don’t like it?”
“No, I don’t like it. So let’s hope I’ll never have to use it.” Steve giggles, shooting Eddie a wink. “Now can you please help me make this go away?”
“Oh. Right.” Eddie says dumbly, as if he could have forgotten Steve’s weeping cock when it’s all he can think about. Eddie helps him out of his dress, gently removing the panties so nothing brushes too overtly against him. He dresses him in boxers and comfortable sweats and lays him back down in the bed, cradling Steve to his chest as he pets his hair and whispers the most boring, mundane things he can think of.
“Eddie, even stories about cars you fixed today are hot in that tone of voice. Read me The Lord of the Dorks or whatever?”
“The Lord of the Rings?” Eddie snorts. “That is blasphemous Steve. The only thing on this planet hotter than Aragorn is you, and that’s marginal at best.”
Steve gasps. “Rude! Boner gone, you don’t even have to get the book now.”
“Too late, Steve. You gave me an inch, I’m taking a mile. We’re absolutely reading Lord of the Rings now.”
Steve exaggerates a pained groan, but he’s more than happy to let Eddie read to him. Even if he doesn’t always understand the complex words and run-on sentences, coming from Eddie’s voice, it may as well be poetry. Steve drifts to sleep in the warm embrace of Eddie and Tolkien, unfinished, yet somehow deeply satisfied.

It had been a few days since the incident at the club and you hadn’t heard from Joshua since that night. He’d texted you once to make sure you had indeed made it home safely. After that it was radio silence.
You weren’t as upset about it as you thought you’d be. You chalked it up to needing some space from one another after that fight.
Instead, you focused your time on work.
A new shipment of antiques had been brought in from your boss’ most recent trip abroad to collect items to resell. The shop was your home away from home. You spent most of your time here as it was your job.
You remembered seeing the shop when you were younger and coming in with your mother. You spent the short time you were in the shop wandering the shelves and looking at all the neat tea sets and other antiques that had been cleaned and restored with care.
When you turned 19, you expressed a desire to work and your parents supported it, saying it would help build character. Your father offered to give you a secretarial position at his company but you had something else in mind.
Your parents were confused about your desire to work at Serizawa’s but when they visited the shop again on the day you went in to apply, they couldn’t imagine you working anywhere else.
Your boss, a man named Isei Serizawa, was a kind elderly man in his late 60’s. His wife, Shinju, was a small woman, also in her 60’s, and spent her life as a stay at home mom, taking care of their two children.
The couple started the shop back when they first got married.
Back then it was in a small storefront in Shingu, near Fukuoka, Japan. They spent their life running the shop and living in the small town near the ocean. They had two children who went off to become extremely successful in both Tokyo and Osaka.
After their children started their own families, the couple moved to Korea and settled in Sejong, bringing their shop with them.
When you first started working at the shop, you mainly worked setting up the items to be sold and sweeping, manning the front of the shop. Eventually, you started to learn about the work Shinju did and asked her to teach you.
She found it nice to have someone interested in her work, restoring old tea sets and mending broken ones. She taught you everything she knew and as her arthritis started to get worse, she left the restoration work to you.
Mr. Serizawa restored furniture and old electronics, leaving the ceramics to you now that Shinju stayed at home, keeping her arthritis at bay with cross stitch and knitting.
Some time after you started working at the shop, the Serizawas’ grandson, Daniel, came to live with them, moving into their spare bedroom.
You didn’t know the particulars of why he left Tokyo but your boss did tell you he wasn’t doing well. He was acting out and mixed in with the wrong crowd.
When you first met Daniel, he seemed troubled and at first he was cold and initially it seemed like he didn’t like you being at the shop or the way the Serizawas treated you like family. Eventually he warmed up to you and came to see you almost like an older cousin.
He also began opening up to you once he started working in the shop when he wasn’t in school.
His grades, which had apparently been dismal at his school in Tokyo, were thriving out here in Sejong. He loved the small town atmosphere and the feeling of community that came with it.
He started doing so well, in both school and his personal life that the Serizawas let him move into the apartment above the shop so long as he kept his grades up and stayed out of trouble.
Since it was summer time and he’d kept his promises to keep his grades up and stay out of trouble, the Serizawas let him go on a school summer trip to Busan to visit the ocean and the island of Jeju. Daniel kept his grandparents in the loop, sending them pictures and letters as well as postcards of his trip.
The Serizawas and even you were happy to see him thriving and having the time of his life with his friends and classmates. He was due to return soon as summer was ending and school would be starting back up.
The ring of the bell brought you out of your hyperfocus and you quickly set the cup you were holding down, wiping your hands on your apron as you called out. “Be right there!
“This is a lot of stuff,” Jeongguk murmured as he followed Changbin into the shop.
They’d driven past what felt like a dozen furniture shops in town until Changbin mentioned seeing this place and Jeongguk begrudgingly drove along the main street until they found the correct side street.
The shop wasn’t huge nor was it loud or ostentatious. It was a small brick building, nestled between a café and an ice cream parlor with a small alleyway leading between the coffee shop and the antique shop.
The sign was made from black wood, coated in a lacquer that made it shine with gold lettering that read the name ‘Serizawa’s.’ The windows on the front of the shop were large and rectangular, stopping about waist level with a row of planters full of neatly trimmed hedges and pruned flowering bushes.
The front door was the same black lacquered wood with a golden knob.
Inside the shop was what Changbin could only describe as organized chaos.
Jeongguk was right, there were a lot of items but they were organized neatly. There were five shelving units, each labeled clearly with all manner of antique items ranging from old typewriters and phones to toys of all kinds.
A series of floating shelves near the door were loaded with various tea sets from different backgrounds and each with distinct patterns.
Jeongguk was immediately drawn to the porcelain, inspecting them as Changbin looked further around. On the back wall were various pieces of furniture, some on special wall mounted hangers to allow more space to peruse the shop.
A small tile section of flooring was between the entry way and the shelves where some pieces of furniture were displayed, almost like one would stage in a home or apartment.
Next to the door was a long counter, behind which had lots of small porcelain trinkets and other knick knacks.
Across from the main door was a doorway with a thick and no doubt heavy green curtain.
Changbin heard a voice call out to them when they first entered and a moment later, footsteps started shuffling from behind the curtain before the material was pulled back and Changbin’s eyes widened as a woman stepped out.
He’d only managed to get a good look at her a few times the other night but he was certain it was indeed Lilah’s friend, the same he’d intervened for when her boyfriend tried to forcibly remove her from the club.
Changbin watched as she stepped forward and recognition passed over her, well your, face.
“Hey,” you said with a smile as you walked forward to meet them. “Hey,” Changbin said with a small smile. He wasn’t sure if you’d remember him.
“Nice to see you again,” you added as Jeongguk returned to Changbin’s side. ‘Well, she definitely remembers,’ he thought, a little bemused.
“Yeah, I had no idea you worked here,” Changbin added as Jeongguk looked between the two of you.
A silence fell over the three of you before you finally spoke.
“So, how can I help you guys?” You asked, looking between them. Changbin was so focused on your face as you spoke that he’d completely missed your question.
Jeongguk discreetly elbowed him, making him sputter before answering.
“Oh, right. I’m, uh, actually looking for some furniture,” he said softly. Jeongguk rolled his eyes and turned away to inspect the shelves some more. ‘Him and those damn tea sets.’
“What kind of furniture?” You asked, tilting your head to the side, reminding Changbin of one of Jeongguk’s puppies. It was cute. You were cute. 'This is neither the time nor the place,' Changbin mentally scolded himself to stop letting his mind wander.
‘Focus, you idiot!’
“Oh, just some accent pieces. Something vintage. Preferably black or red,” he answered, trying to sound casual.
You nodded a couple times, taking in his words before turning to the rest of the shop. “Actually, I think I've got a few pieces like that,” you replied.
“I could show you if you’d like?”
Changbin nodded and you smiled, beckoning him to follow as you moved towards the back of the shop.
He followed while Jeongguk stayed behind to continue to look at the tea sets.
“How many pieces are you wanting?” You asked as you led him to the back wall. “Just a couple. Maybe three at most. I’m really trying to find some chairs for the lobby of my shop,” Changbin answered as you both walked towards the back.
“What kind of shop?” You asked, sounding interested.
“It’s a tattoo shop,” Changbin answered, expecting you to lose interest immediately.
“Oh, the one that just popped up on Market Street?”
Changbin was taken aback that not only were you interested in the shop but that you knew where it even was. He nodded wordlessly, wondering what other kinds of surprises you had.
“Lilah has been talking nonstop about it ever since the last shop closed. I’d never been to that one,” you added as the two of you neared the back of the shop. “The last shop seemed to be a favorite among the locals, what was it called?”
Changbin watched as you stopped, amused as you wracked your brain.
“Ink Moon Studios!” You said suddenly, as if having an ‘aha’ moment. Changbin’s smile widened as you turned to him. “I really liked the name of that shop. What’s yours called? I didn’t see any signs when I last went by.”
Changbin suddenly felt very self conscious. “Uh, White Lotus Studio,” he answered softly. “I like that,” you said, smiling warmly.
“Maybe I’ll have to come by with Lilah some time.”
Changbin bit back the urge to smile. If you wanted to come by his shop, he wasn’t going to complain. Not one bit.
“So,” you said, stopping to point out a couple different pieces.
“We have these,” you continued, showing him a couple of red velvet chairs. The wood was a dark reddish brown. “But I also have these,” you added, pointing out a chair and ottoman set.
Both pieces were black upholstery with white painted wood. “This is probably a long shot,” Changbin started. “But do you have anything with black and gold?”
A smile spread across your face and you waved at him to follow you, leading him back towards the front of the shop.
Back at the staged area, you showed him two of the chairs.
They were high wingback arm chairs with black velvet upholstery and gold painted wood with carved details. They were exactly what he was looking for and he mentally kicked himself for not noticing them as soon as he came in.
You were excited, showing them off as you explained the work that went into restoring them.
“My boss just finished these last week. I was really excited when he showed me his plans for them.”
You pointed out the wood trim. “These details are all hand carved. They’re Rococo inspired pieces but obviously they aren’t that old,” you explained. “The gold paint is coated in a layer of epoxy which gives it the shine. The epoxy won’t wear down so obviously the paint won’t chip. The velvet is real and will have to be cleaned by hand with some velvet cleaner and a microfiber cloth.”
Changbin nodded as you spoke, kneeling down to look at the pieces and looking over them, inspecting the wood and looking at the supports under the cushion. “No offense to your boss, but how often do customers complain or return items?”
You smiled warmly again. “No offense taken. I think the only time we’ve had something returned it was a mirror. The frame got damaged when they were carrying it out to their car and Mr. Serizawa offered to fix it right away,” you explained.
“He’s been doing this his entire life and for him, it’s not about the money. It’s about bringing new life into these old pieces and making sure people love them as much as he does.”
Changbin glanced up at you from where he was kneeling in front of the chair. “Impressive customer service,” Changbin noted with a smile.
You smiled again.
“My boss strips all pieces down to the base before reinforcing any cracks or weaknesses in wood. He uses high quality foam and upholstery when refurbishing each piece,” you added.
Changbin stood up and walked around one of the chairs, continuing to inspect it.
“And he does all of this in the shop?” Changbin asked as he stopped to look up at you. Nodding in response you continued to speak. “He has a workshop in the back where he does all his restoration work,” you answered.
“Like I said, he’s been doing this his whole life. He’s had this shop in Sejong since I was a little girl. Before that he lived near Fukuoka and had a shop there.”
Changbin looked up at you again as you spoke. His eyes trailed over your face, taking in your features before looking back down at the chair. He didn’t want to get caught essentially checking you out, though he really wanted to.
He needed to be professional. The last thing he wanted was to make you uncomfortable in any way.
Changbin nodded a couple times before clicking his tongue and looking back up at you with a smirk.
“I’ll take them.”
Changbin was immediately entranced by the smile that spread across your face. It was different from the warm and polite smiles you’d given him before. This was a genuine smile. The first he’d seen from you since meeting you the other night.
He’d thought you were pretty before, seeing you at the club under all the neon lights and then again today in the natural lighting that filtered into the shop but the moment this smile graced your face, it nearly took his breath away.
He was convinced he’d never seen someone so stunning.
“Perfect, I’ll go grab the paperwork,” you replied, drawing him out of his thoughts before excusing yourself to disappear behind the curtain.
Changbin watched as you disappeared behind the green material before Jeongguk hissed at him from across the shop. He turned to look at his friend who had been looking at the tea sets the whole time.
“These are so fucking expensive,” he hissed. “Who the fuck would buy something so outrageously priced!?” Changbin’s smile fell and he glared at his friend from across the store. “Knock it off!” Changbin hissed.
Jeongguk looked back at the tea set. “Who would spend almost a million won on this?” Changbin sighed, glaring at his friend. “Stop it! She might hear you!”
Jeongguk shrugged his shoulders. “It’s not my fault they’re priced so high.”
Changbin was staring daggers at Jeongguk when the curtain opened and you returned, carrying some papers, a polite smile on your face. Changbin wondered if you’d heard them bickering. If you had, your face didn’t let it show.
“These are a formality,” you explained as you handed over the small stack of papers. “Basically just going over what was done to refurbish the items and how we recommend you take care of them.”
You smiled at him as Changbin flipped through the pages quickly. He glanced up as you were looking at the price tag of the chairs and writing on a small pad of paper, filling in the boxes and adding the sales tax.
You finished and gestured for Changbin to follow you to the counter near the door so you could properly ring him up.
Jeongguk was still looking at the tea sets as Changbin pulled out his wallet and waited for you to do your thing, tapping away at the register screen.
“Okay, the total comes to five-hundred and fifty thousand won,” you said with a smile. “How much?” Jeongguk asked, whipping his head around. “That’s for both chairs and I gave you a discount since you’re buying both of them,” you explained.
Ignoring Jeongguk’s glare, Changbin opened his wallet, pulled out his card and waited for you to input his total before turning the screen around for him to pay.
The transaction only took a few moments but it was long enough for Jeongguk to interrupt the silence, yet again.
“Can I ask you something?”
‘Oh god, here we go.’
You glanced up as Changbin signed his name. “Yes?”
Jeongguk gestured at the shelf. “How do you choose the prices for these things?”
Your cheeks burned at his inquiry and there was no doubt in Changbin’s mind that you had heard them bickering earlier. He desperately wanted to apologize for Jeongguk’s rudeness but was unable to do so as you started speaking.
“Well, it’s really hard to put an exact price on art,” you started as you printed Changbin’s receipt and stapled it to his paperwork. Changbin thanked you as you handed him his papers.
“Some of those sets are almost a hundred years old,” you continued, leaning on the counter as Changbin put his wallet away, both he and Jeongguk engrossed in your words.
“That specific set, the one that’s almost a million won, is a rare bone China tea set from England and is about 150 years old.”
Jeongguk’s eyes widened and he looked back at the set.
“The prices are determined by the age, condition, and rarity of each item. We also factor in how much work went into restoring each piece. That set came to us in multiple pieces.”
Jeongguk turned back to face you. “So it was restored in the store?”
You nodded as Changbin watched you.
“Yes. Everything is restored and cleaned in the shop before we sell it.”
Jeongguk chuckled, looking back at the sets. “I'm picturing a cute little elderly lady in the back, cleaning the tea sets,” he murmured but loud enough for both you and Changbin to hear.
Changbin chuckled as well, shaking his head at the image Jeongguk put in his head. A small giggle came from you, causing both to look in your direction.
“Actually, there’s no little old lady,” you said, giggles subsiding.
“I do all the tea sets.”
Changbin’s eyes widened as did Jeongguk’s.
“Wait, you restore the tea sets?” Jeongguk asked. You nodded with a slight redness to your cheeks. “I do,” you answered.
“That’s so… impressive,” Changbin said, making you blush deeper. “What made you get into this line of work?” Jeongguk asked.
“Well, I spent a good portion of my youth and teens attending fancy parties and soirees and I’ve been to more tea parties than I care to count,” you explained as both men continued to listen.
“I’ve never really liked tea that much if I’m being honest, but I’ve always loved the sets.” A small smile spread across your face as you reminisced.
“And the sets were always so pretty. All the intricate patterns and details have this way of drawing you in.” You were so engrossed in your explanation you didn’t notice the way Changbin was looking at you.
“Both the art and even the soft clink of porcelain brings me a great sense of nostalgia,” you continued softly as both men watched you, especially Changbin, with a deep fascination.
"The Japanese have a word for it. Natsukashii."
Changbin had never heard someone speak so passionately about tea sets. Normally he wouldn’t be interested but the fact that you were in it for the art was something he appreciated greatly.
“I’m sorry,” you said suddenly, waving your hand. “I went off on a tangent there.”
You cleared your throat and turned to look at Changbin.
“We’ll be open until 8 today, so you’re welcome to swing by any time to pick up your chairs. I’ll go ahead and put the sold signs and grab the plastic from the back to wrap them up.”
Changbin smiled and nodded. “I’ll be back before then with a truck,” he replied, standing up straight before tapping the counter softly with his knuckles. “See you then,” you replied with a warm smile.
Jeongguk finally turned away from the tea sets but not before looking at the set below the one he’d called out for being expensive. “What about this one?”
Changbin could have strangled his friend.
He knew you were probably up to your elbows in work and he really didn’t want to keep you any longer than was necessary.
You must have been some sort of saint, smiling kindly and moving around the counter to get a better look at the set Jeongguk was pointing at.
Changbin allowed himself to look at it and understood why Jeongguk was so intrigued.
It was a black traditional tea set. The black was broken up but lines of gold. It was extremely striking. The inside of the cups was white with speckled blue.
“That’s a traditional Japanese tea set,” you answered. “It’s about fifty years old. It’s made from ceramic as most Japanese sets are,” you answered. “It’s from Kyoto and comes from a very popular geisha house. The story is that it fell while being transported and it cracked, several of the chawan broke into multiple pieces.”
Changbin glanced back at the set. “What’s the gold?” He asked suddenly.
“It’s powdered gold,” you replied, looking at him, meeting his gaze when he turned to look at you. “Have you ever heard of kintsugi?”
Both Changbin and Jeongguk shook their heads. “It’s something I learned from my boss’ wife. She used to restore tea sets before her arthritis set in,” you explained, squeezing between the two to grab the tea pot.
You turned it and showed them the various lines of gold. “This teapot was originally broken into 6 separate pieces when it came to the store. Using resin and gold powder I attached the pieces together. This is called hibi which means crack,” you said as you set the teapot back on the shelf.
“There are other methods but usually I only do this one,” you continued.
“If a piece is missing, sometimes we’ll substitute with a piece from another set but I have yet to have to do that.”
“So why the gold?” Jeongguk asked, asking the question on the tip of Changbin’s tongue.
“Kintsugi is about displaying the imperfections rather than covering them up. It’s the belief that the imperfections are what make it beautiful. As a philosophy, kintsugi treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object. The imperfections become part of the item,” you explained.
Changbin glanced up at his friend who was deep in thought as he looked at the black and gold set. Before Jeongguk could ask anymore questions, Changbin grabbed his friend by the elbow. “I think we’ve taken up enough of Y/N’s time,” he said gently tugging his friend towards the door.
Changbin turned to you as he guided Jeongguk out the door. “Thank you so much,” he said, smiling at you. You returned the gesture, giving him a small bow. “Thank you for coming in,” you replied, giving him a small wave as he exited.
Once the door shut behind them Changbin rounded on Jeongguk. “First you insult the items and then you won’t shut up and stop asking questions?” He asked as they walked down the sidewalk where Jeongguk’s car was parked.
Jeongguk rolled his eyes, lowering his mask. “Okay, I admit, the whole price thing, that was out of line. But I was genuinely curious about the sets! It was actually kind of fascinating. I’ve never seen or heard someone talk about tea sets like that,” he replied as he unlocked the car.
Both men opened their doors and slid into their seats. “She’s passionate about it,” Jeongguk continued as he buckled his seatbelt and started the car, the engine roaring to life. “She’s in it for the art,” Changbin added.
“I think that's something we both can appreciate.”
You watched as Changbin and Jeongguk walked down the sidewalk and out of sight. Once they’d disappeared beyond your scope of vision, you turned and headed back into the backroom to file the store’s copy of the paperwork away and return to your workspace.
The backroom was where you spent a good majority of your time, taking Shinju’s old station. It was a sturdy desk made of white oak wood in the shape of an L. One of the sides was pushed up against the back wall of the workshop and had an attached cabinet.
Inside the cabinet were various tools you used to restore sets including a vast array of paints and paintbrushes. Not only did you clean and seal cracks in the ceramics but you also touched up any painting that needed it.
It was a lot of fine details and tended to be very tedious but you’d always had a particularly steady hand and a deep love for art to begin with. Normally you painted on canvas in your youth. Now the ceramic was your canvas.
You took a seat on your cushioned chair, grabbing the heavy knitted blanket Shinju had gifted you last year to keep your legs warm. For some reason, the back of the shop always got extremely cold, even in the heat of the summer.
Picking up the cup you were currently working on, you started back up, dipping your brush into the small mug of water before dipping it into the gold paint.
The swirls came naturally as the brush tip glided across the ceramic. It was easy work and it took up a decent amount of time. You listened to the music over the shop speakers, simple classical tunes that were pleasant to the ear.
As you continued painting along the rim of the cup, time ticked by on the clock to your right. You hardly paid the face any attention as you worked. Only glancing at it when you felt necessary to gauge how much time before you needed to start cleaning up.
What felt like only minutes but was probably closer to an hour went by before the familiar tinkling of the bell caught your attention. You set the cup down on the cloth that stretched over the workspace before cleaning the brush and quickly patting it dry.
“Hello?” A familiar voice called from the showroom.
You got up, brushing off your apron before heading to the curtain only for it to be pulled back and the face of your boyfriend appeared.
Upon seeing you, Joshua gave you a smile, one you almost returned before remembering that he hadn’t spoken to you since the night at the club.
Joshua noticed the change in your demeanor, the chill in your stare.
“I come with a peace offering,” he said, holding up a brown paper sack without a logo. You narrowed your eyes suspiciously before beckoning him to join you in the back room.
Once he’d passed the doorway, you moved out to the showroom, crossed to the door and turned the lock before flipping the small sign that read ‘be back soon.’
You returned to the backroom, letting the curtain fall behind you before crossing your arms over your chest and fixing your boyfriend with a blank expression. You were waiting for an apology.
Joshua understood your body language immediately and set the bag on the small table just inside the back room where you usually sat to eat lunch. “I know,” you heard him say softly.
“I messed up,” he continued, moving to place his hands gently on your shoulders.
“I messed up big time and I am so sorry for the way I acted at the club the other night.”
Looking into his face, you could see the sincerity etched upon his features. He really did mean it. But you weren’t satisfied. That wasn’t all he had to answer for in your opinion.
“And?” You asked, raising an eyebrow.
“And I'm sorry for not talking to you since that night,” Joshua added immediately.
You pursed your lips. "And?"
Joshua gave you a confused look until you sighed and shrugged off your cardigan, showing him the now bruised spot on your arm. The same spot he'd grabbed roughly the night at the club.
His eyes fell on the mark and the confusion melted away as he immediately took your arm gently. "Oh my god, baby," he murmured as he inspected the bruise. "I'm so sorry."
"You're lucky Lilah hasn't seen this. Or my parents," you replied pulling your cardigan back on, fixing Joshua with a blank stare. He immediately reached up, cupping your cheek. "I am so, so sorry, Y/N. I really did not mean to grab you like that."
You nodded wordlessly. "I know," you replied. "But it doesn't change the fact that you did. You need to be more mindful of your actions, Joshua." He nodded in agreement.
"Of course," he answered. "Hold me accountable. What I did was wrong and inexcusable." He took your hands in his, looking into your eyes. "I promise I'll be more mindful and to pay more attention." He gave your hands a gentle squeeze.
Once you nodded, showing that you both understood and forgave him, Joshua pulled you into a hug, swaying you both lightly until you broke the silence. "So, what's in the bag?"
Joshua had stopped by one of your favorite delis, getting you a lunch special with a sandwich and a cup of soup. The two of you sat at the small break table, eating lunch and chatting.
Joshua explained what he had been up to the last few days and answered your questions about work while you finished your food.
He had just finished explaining something one of the project leads had done when the shrill ringing of the phone cut him off. "Oh shoot," you murmured, getting up and crossing the backroom to answer the landline at Mr. Serizawa's work desk.
"Serizawa’s, this is Y/N speaking," you answered politely.
"Hello, Y/N. It's Isei," a voice on the other side said.
"Oh, hello Mr. Serizawa!"
Joshua had gotten up from the table and crossed the room as you listened to your boss speak. You felt Joshua's presence looming behind you and just as suddenly, you could feel his hands on your hips as he reached you.
"I'm not going to be able to come in later to close the shop," Mr. Serizawa started. "Shinju isn't feeling too great so I'm going to have to take her to the clinic." You furrowed your brow.
"Is she going to be okay?" you asked quickly, ignoring Joshua whispering the word "what" into your ear.
"I'm not sure. Hopefully it's nothing too serious but I'd like you to close up early. And please take the deposit to the bank for me. I don't think I'll be able to get it done by noon tomorrow."
You nodded even though he couldn't see you.
"Of course, Mr. Serizawa. I made a sale today so I'll call them and let them know to come sooner to pick up their items," you replied. "I hope Mrs. Serizawa is okay and tell her I'm thinking of her."
"Thank you Y/N. I will keep you updated. Goodbye"
The line clicked, indicating he had hung up.
You immediately set the phone back down.
"Everything okay?" Joshua asked as you sighed, his chin resting on your shoulder. "Shinju isn't feeling great so Mr. Serizawa is going to take her to the clinic," you said as you turned in his arms.
"He wants me to close the shop early," you added. "Which reminds me." You gently pushed Joshua back and moved over to the filing cabinet to pull out the file with Changbin's receipt.
"I need to call him back so he can come get his items," you murmured as you moved back to the work desk and picked up the phone. Joshua leaned against the counter top, watching you dial the number on the receipt.
The line rang a couple times before it picked up. "Hello?"
"Hi, may I speak with Changbin?"
"Speaking, who is this?"
"It's Y/N. I just got a call from the owner and he's asked me to close the shop early. If you want to still pick up your chairs today, you might want to head over here as soon as possible. I'll be closing the shop within the hour," you explained, playfully swatting Joshua's hand as it started to wander.
"Oh, hang on a sec," Changbin said before speaking indistinctly to someone else. You waited a couple moments before he returned. "I'll be by in ten minutes. Twenty at most," Changbin finally said.
You smiled in relief. "Okay, I'll see you soon," you replied. "Bye bye." You hung up and turned to Joshua who grabbed your waist and pulled you toward him. "Who was that?"
"Just a customer. He came in earlier to buy some chairs," you answered, looking at Joshua. "How long did he say he'd be?" Your boyfriend gave you a mischievous grin. You shook your head.
"He'll be here soon," you answered, trying to pull away but Joshua held you firmly in place. "So like twenty minutes?" he asked with a smirk, leaning in to kiss you. You pulled back much too quickly for his liking. "My lunch break is almost over, Mr. Hong," you said sternly. Joshua snorted but leaned in for another kiss.
His lips parted yours, tongue slipping past and just as quickly, he turned both of you, pressing against you and pinning you against the work desk. "Joshua," you warned as his lips started to wander, leaving a trail of kisses down your neck.
"Come on," he murmured. "There's a lot I can do in twenty minutes," he continued, one hand sliding down your hip to the hem of your dress. Why you chose to wear such a short one today, you'd never understand.
Your hand quickly grabbed his wrist as his hand dipped between your thighs. "Joshua Hong!" you chastised, eyes widening at the devilish smirk on his face. "Come on, baby," he urged. "I promise I'll be quick." You shook your head, pulling his hand away.
"No way, mister," you answered. "I'd like to keep my job."
Joshua sighed, leaning his forehead against yours. "You're no fun," he grumbled. You smiled cheerfully, giving him a quick peck on the lips before moving to clean up the break table and wash your hands.
Joshua sulked, watching you clean up and start putting away your painting supplies before setting the tea set you were working on in one of the empty cabinets and shutting the door.
Just as you were finishing up, there was a knock at the front door. You wiped your hands on your apron and ignored your boyfriend's pout to go answer the door.
Once past the curtain, you saw Changbin with Chris standing at the door, chatting amongst themselves. You approached the door, unlocked it and opened it to greet them.
"Hey," you said cheerfully as you let them into the shop as Joshua appeared from behind the curtain. You caught a glimpse of his expression and you could tell he was now upset.
You narrowed your eyes, silently telling him to knock it off.
"They shouldn't be too heavy, Changbin noted as he and Chris moved over to the two chairs. You waited by the door for them to pick up the chairs which they each did with relative ease.
Holding the door open, you let them pass by you as they carried the chairs out to the waiting truck. Chris set the chair he carried down before opening the tailgate of his truck. Each one of them carefully loaded the covered chairs into the bed.
You watched as Chris climbed in, starting to carefully secure the chairs with rope. Once tied down, Chris hopped down while Changbin walked over to where you stood on the stoop.
"Thanks again for giving me the heads up," he said with a smile, one you returned. "Of course," you answered. "I don't know when your shop is opening and I'm sure you'd want to have these chairs now rather than later." Changbin nodded before glancing past you into the shop where Joshua stood, arms crossed and looking unimpressed. Changbin quickly looked back at you.
"Are you alright?" he asked softly. Your heart pounded in your chest at his soft expression. He barely knew you and yet here he was, being so sweet and making sure you were okay. You nodded.
"Yeah. We're fine," you answered. Changbin nodded and turned to look back at Chris. "All set?" he asked. The other man nodded, giving him double thumbs up. "All set!"
Changbin turned back to face you. "Thank you again," he said with that same soft smile. "I'll see you around, Y/N!"
With a wave, he jogged around to the passenger side of the truck as Chris got into the driver's seat. Once they were settled, Chris started the truck which roared to life, and the two took off, pulling out carefully onto the main street and heading out of view.
You stepped back into the shop, letting the door shut before you turned the lock and turned, just now remembering Joshua was in the shop, arms still crossed, and an unmistakable scowl on his face.
"What was that?" he demanded as you walked towards him. " What was what?" you asked as you reached the curtain and pushed it aside, letting it catch in the curtain hook. Joshua followed you into the backroom as you moved towards the supply closet for the broom and dustpan. "You know what," he argued.
"He was a customer, Joshua," you said, no longer amused by his behavior. "All the smiles and waves? What the hell was that?" he asked again as you grabbed the broom and started sweeping.
"He was a customer," you reiterated. "I'm nice to all my customers," you continued as you swept the backroom. It took less than five minutes to sweep as it wasn't a busy day and Mr. Serizawa hadn't been in the shop to work on furniture. You dumped the dustbin and moved to the front of the store, Joshua hot on your heels. "I don't like him," he said as he watched you.
"You don't even know him," you retorted.
"Neither do you."
"Chris does."
"You don't know Chris so you couldn't possibly trust his judgment."
"Lilah knows them."
You savored your victory when Joshua fell silent. He couldn't argue with that. "In any case, I think you should stay away from him," Joshua finally said. You paused your sweeping to turn and look at him. "Are we really having the whole control conversation again?"
Confusion was replaced by realization as Joshua's posture relaxed. "I'm only thinking about your safety," he answered. You sighed, turning away and rolling your eyes. "I'll be just fine," you replied.
Joshua said nothing, instead checked his watch and huffed.
"I'd better get back to the office," he announced, disappearing into the backroom to grab his jacket before returning. "Are you going to be okay walking home by yourself?" he asked. You nodded as he approached, leaning in to give you a quick kiss.
"Text me when you get home," he added before heading to the door and unlocking it. "And lock this door as soon as I leave," he added with a faux stern expression. You rolled your eyes playfully and walked over as he exited, closing the door behind him and waited for you to turn the deadbolt.
After checking the door, he waved and headed to his waiting car. You watched as he got in and drove off before flipping the closed sign and pulling the shade on the door window down.
You resumed sweeping until you were certain every nook and cranny was swept. Returning the broom and dustpan to the supply closet, you bagged up all trash and took the bag out to the dumpster in the alley behind the shop.
Once back inside, you locked the backdoor and headed up front to pull the shades down on all the windows and then went behind the counter to count the register for all the cash transactions.
After counting and adding it to the ledger, you headed into Mr. Serizawa's office to access the safe and collect the deposit for the bank. Putting the money in the locking cash bag, you put the bag inside your purse and tripled checked all doors were locked.
You grabbed your jacket, purse, and keys and headed out the door, making sure to lock both locks before heading down the sidewalk towards the bank. This wasn't the first time you'd deposited money for Mr. Serizawa and you were glad he trusted you with such a task.
The walk to the bank took only about ten minutes and once you deposited the money and got the receipt, you were about half way to your apartment when you realized you forgot your phone and your apartment key.
Cursing yourself, you begrudgingly turned back and headed to the shop. It added an additional 20 minutes but soon you had your phone and house key in hand and you were back outside the shop, locking the knob and deadbolt.
You were fiddling with the deadbolt when you heard someone call your name.
Looking over your shoulder, you were met by the smiling face of--
"Jeonghan!" you said as you finally got the deadbolt to slide into place and turned to properly greet the man. He gave you a warm smile. “How have you been?” He asked as you returned the shop keys to your purse.
“I’ve been good!”
An awkward silence filled the air before Jeonghan spoke.
“You closing up the shop?”
You shook your head before nodding. “Well, sort of,” you answered.
“I closed earlier but forgot my phone and house keys like an idiot.”
Jeonghan’s expression shifted from warm to confused. “You aren’t an idiot,” he replied. “We all forget things from time to time.” You nodded wordlessly.
“Well, I’d better get home.”
“Would you mind if I walked you home?”
You both stared at one another before laughing. “Go ahead,” Jeonghan continued. “What were you going to say?”
“Just that I should probably head home,” you replied. Jeonghan nodded. “I was going to offer to walk you, but I’m sure you’ll manage on your own,” he stated.
“Yes,” you answered. “But thank you anyway.”
The two of you parted ways after an awkward goodbye and you made the short walk back to your apartment, stopping just inside the door to grab your mail and head up to your floor.
As you reached the top of the stairs, the front door of the apartment next door opened, your neighbor poking his head out.
“Hey, Y/N,” he said, catching your attention. You looked over to see his normally tidy black hair was tousled, glasses slightly askew. “Are you okay?” You asked, mildly concerned. “You don’t look so good, Wonwoo.”
Your neighbor shook his head. “I’m alright. I just realized, halfway into my shower, that I don’t have any body wash. Could I borrow some? I’ve got a date tonight and you’d really be doing me a favor.”
You tried to hold back your laughter. “I would except I think my body wash might not go over too well with your date. She might think you have a girlfriend,” you answered. Wonwoo stared blankly at you until your words sank in.
“Oh shit, you’re right,” he finally said, eyes widening. “What do I do?”
You finally let out a laugh before shrugging. “If you’re really in a pinch, dish soap would probably work,” you answered. Wonwoo’s face lit up. “Brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that?” You shook your head. “No idea.”
“Thanks Y/N,” Wonwoo said before disappearing into his apartment and shutting the door, leaving you to unlock your own door and enter your apartment, letting the door shut behind you before locking it and looking over your mail as you entered your apartment.
After sorting your mail and going through the important papers, you started your usual nighttime ritual of dinner, a movie, and your evening bedtime routine. Once in bed, you made sure your phone was plugged in and your alarm was set for the next morning.
The next morning was Sunday which meant it was time for church. It wasn’t your favorite activity but you didn’t have much of a choice when it came to attendance. Your mother and father always made you attend in your youth and while you didn’t necessarily believe, your attendance was expected.
The vibration of your phone caught your attention as you sat at your vanity having just finished your makeup.
You sighed, turning to grab your phone as you checked the screen. It was your mother. You swiped the screen, bringing the device up to your ear as you looked over your outfit choices. “Hello?”
Your mother’s dulcet voice greeted you.
“Good morning, dear,” she said soothingly. “Did I wake you?”
You rolled your eyes. “No mother,” you answered as you picked up a hanger, inspecting the outfit. It was a white tweed jacket and skirt set with a gold pattern and a short sleeve white turtleneck.
“I’ve been up for about an hour now.”
“Are you getting ready?” You nodded, resisting the urge to sigh annoyed at her tone. “I am,” you answered. “Picking out an outfit now.”
“I’m sure you’ll select something appropriate,” your mother responded. “Mhm,” you replied, not really paying attention to what she was saying. “How are you planning to get to the church?” Your mother suddenly asked.
You hesitated. “Uh… I had planned to walk,” you answered. You heard your mother tut. “We’ll just send a car to come get you.” You sighed heavily.
Your parents lived in a gated community on the west side of Sejong, a much nicer area of the city, though most of the city was nice. Your family came from money, as did most of your friends. Your friend group attended the best private schools in Sejong, continuing onto university and never having to worry about how to pay for tuition or books. You knew how fortunate you were and how privileged your upbringing was.
“I’m perfectly fine walking,” you retorted as you set the suit down and picked up another outfit, a short sleeve ribbed white turtleneck with a black skirt and a split cropped short sleeve blazer. One side was entirely black while the other side and the collar was a black with white plaid pattern.
“Don’t be silly, dear. It would take such a long time for you to walk there. Our driver will come get you. We’ll send Martin.” You knew there was no point in arguing and relented. “Fine,” you answered. “I’ll see you at the church, mother.”
Before she had the opportunity to redirect the conversation, you said goodbye and hung up. “This one,” you said, turning to your closet and grabbing a belt and a pair of shoes to match.
Once dressed and looking up to your own standards of “church ready” you grabbed a small clutch purse and put a few items inside; lip gloss, phone, compact, and wallet. You weren’t sure if you were going to go out to eat after services or if you were going to come straight home but you wanted to be prepared either way.
As you headed out of your apartment, your phone vibrated in your purse. Locking your door before you forgot, you puled the device from your bag and checked the notifications. A slew of texts from Lilah filled the screen.
Lilah🌕: are you going today? Lilah🌕: i don’t know why you pretend to believe Lilah🌕: we could be doing more productive things Rolling your eyes with a slight smirk, you typed a response. You: you know how my parents would freak if I stopped coming You: besides, it’s not that bad
Lilah’s response was instantaneous and you pictured here lounging on her bed, waiting for you to text her back.
Lilah🌕: speak for yourself. You don’t get weird stares when you’re just sitting there existing. All those people follow teaching that tell them not to judge yet that’s all those hypocrites do Lilah🌕: skip services and come see me instead Lilah🌕: I miss you ):
You sighed as you took a break from her messages to head down the stairs. After the last time you tried to text while traversing the stairs ended up with a trip to the hospital and a twisted ankle followed by bed rest and a bulky brace, you learned your lesson.
Once you were on flat ground again, you stopped by your building’s front door and peered out the glass, looking for the car your mother insisted on sending. You saw nothing and instead went back to your messages.
Lilah🌕: where you go? ):< You: i was walking down the stairs lol calm down Lilah🌕: oh yeah. We don’t want a repeat of last time You: i remember thanks lol anyway i can’t skip You: my mother is sending a car to pick me up Lilah🌕: BOOOO. BOO KAREN You: my mother’s name isn’t Karen Lilah🌕: no but your mother IS a Karen You: 🧍🏻‍♀️  Lilah🌕: just tell Jeeves that you don’t feel well and come see me instead :> Lilah🌕: we can order pizza and watch Gilmore Girls! You: ugh i wish but i can’t back out now Lilah🌕: why not? ):< You: because the car just got here
You sighed and locked your screen as a familiar silver car pulled up.
It was definitely one of your father’s, a silver Lexus. Your father loved his Lexuses.
The driver’s door opened and a tall man, who you presumed to be Martin, in a black suit with black sunglasses stepped out, moving to open the back passenger door like some sort of secret service.
Holding in a chuckle, you descended the steps, smiling as he greeted you with a formal “morning miss.” You thanked him as you climbed into the back, settling in the seat as Martin shut the door and walked back to the driver’s side.
The interior was an off-white leather and rather spacious. Leave it to your parents to send such a nice car to pick you up for church.
Once Martin put the car in gear and pulled onto the street, you returned to your texts with your best friend.
Lilah🌕: boo. Throw up on him You: lilah! 💀 Lilah🌕: what?? He’ll leave you there to go home and change and then tell Karen that he refuses to pick you up ever again. It’s a win-win! You: absolutely not lol Lilah🌕: sometimes you’re no fun Lilah🌕: you already on your way there? You: yeah. It’s so quiet in the car. No music, no conversation, nothing Lilah🌕: not even Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2? Lilah🌕: what has happened to society? How could they not play Nocturne in E-flat major, Op. 9, No. 2 You: oh stop it lol 😂 You: i just meant it’s really awkward right now.
The car jostled as it hit a small bump and Martin apologized quietly, glancing at you in the rearview. “It’s not a problem, Martin,” you replied kindly. “Just another sign that Sejong needs to focus on repairing some of these roads instead of the other ventures they seem to be spend on,” you added as you looked back down.
Lilah🌕: you mean Jeeves isn’t the most fabulous conversationalist you’ve ever met? Lilah🌕: absolutely unacceptable. How did he even land that job? You: your sarcasm is leaking through my screen, Li Lilah🌕: good 🥰 Lilah🌕: i’m gonna watch a movie. Text me when the cult meeting is over You: Lilah! Lilah🌕: love you!! ❤️😘
You chuckled as you put your phone away, looking up as Martin pulled up outside the cathedral. You took a deep breath as Martin got out to open the door and you stepped out as members of the congregation started filing into the open doors, some stopping to greet others.
You thanked Martin as you brushed your skirt and looked back up. You didn’t see your parents anywhere outside and figured they must be inside already. Taking another deep breath, you followed the throngs of people entering the building and climbed the stone steps up to the doors.
Inside the foyer were small crowds of people, all speaking to one another. The doors that led into the main room were still closed as no doubt the staff were preparing for the services. You finally caught sight of your parents who were standing off to one side talking with Joshua’s parents, your boyfriend standing nearby and looking like he was part of the conversation.
You squeezed through the crowded foyer, saying excuse me until you reached them. Joshua was the first to spot you as you approached. He greeted you with a smile, breaking from the group to pull you into a light hug, pressing a kiss to your temple before your parents and his noticed your presence.
“Oh good,” you heard your mother say as Joshua guided you over to both sets of parents. You noticed another couple of your parents’ friends were standing in the circle and you could feel their eyes scrutinizing not only you but Joshua as well.
You saw the way the woman, whose name you forgot, looked over you, scanning your outfit and how you had presented yourself. It made you feel like a child all over again and you were showing your parent what you had picked to wear on the first day of school.
“You’ve made it,” your mother said, drawing your attention from the woman silently judging your choice of attire. You weren’t sure why she was judging you so hard, especially when she was wearing what you assumed was a dress. It looked like something she’d probably been wearing since the 1980’s and probably should have stayed there.
“What are you wearing?” Your mother asked softly, eyes looking at your jacket.
You glanced down and then back up. “What?” You asked. “What’s wrong with it?”
You saw the way your mother glanced to the side, probably to see if anyone was looking at you. Glancing back, you saw that no one was. “It just doesn’t seem appropriate for church,” your mother responded before turning as her name was called and she greeted another member of the congregation with your father in tow. You tried not to let her words get to you.
After all, you were used to this. You’d expected the scrutiny but for some reason, it still hurt. You were an adult now and she still treated you like a child.
You felt an arm around your shoulders before Joshua whispered in your ear. “You look nice,” he said softly. The sour feeling that had started to prickle at the back of your throat started to subside, as did the heat of embarrassment.
He always managed to calm you down when it came to your mother.
“Thanks,” you replied just as softly. “I think you look amazing in everything you wear,” Joshua added, kissing your cheek. Your cheeks burned and you mumbled at him to stop though that was the last thing you wanted.
You giggled as Joshua nuzzled your cheek until you heard his mother’s sharp voice calling his name. Joshua looked over his shoulder at her. “We are in public,” she said sternly, fixing you with a steely glare. Like it was your fault for Joshua’s behavior. “You’re right,” Joshua said turning back to look at you, taking your chin in his hand and tilting your head to place a kiss on your lips right as the doors opened.
“Joshua!” You heard his mother hiss. Joshua rolled his eyes with a smile on his lips. “I’ll see you later,” he murmured, giving you one last peck before you were dragged away by your mother who reprimanded you for public displays of affection as she led you and your stoic father to a row of benches about half way into the room.
You were thankful to be sitting at the furthest end of the row closest to the outside wall as more people filed into the church, filling the rows. Your mother was sat on the other side of your father who merely checked his watch before looking around the room, almost as if he was bored and you were left wondering if he even wanted to be here.
As the rows behind and in front of you filled up, your parents greeted the other members of the congregation, speaking about everything ranging from business to their plans for the week. Your mother talked about upcoming charity events and soirees while your father spoke strictly business and golf.
You checked your phone quickly, seeing Lilah had sent you a couple texts about the movie she was watching and reminding you to text her when you got out of church. You were about to put your phone away when you got another text. One from your boyfriend.
Joshy: put your phone away ma’am
A smile spread across your face as you typed a response.
You: you first Joshy: i can see you 👁  You: well, it’s not like i’m trying to hide from you Joshy: turn around
You looked behind you and saw him a couple rows behind with his parents, staring directly at you with a smirk.
You turned back to look at your phone.
Joshy: hi You: you’re such a dork Joshy: you still love me You: do i? 🤔  Joshy: i’m wounded ): 💔 You: poor baby Joshy: hey. I’m not a baby 😠 You: awww is the widdle baby mad? Joshy: i’m NOT a baby Joshy: you’re the baby Joshy: you’re my baby You: i know 😌🥰 You: okay princess 🙄 Joshy: you really should put your phone away though You: i’m a rebel  Joshy: is that so? You: yes 😈 Joshy: I'm not sure you should be using that emoji in a house of worship 🤨 You: just goes to show I'm a rebel 😎💅🏻 Joshy: okay Rebel Girl, meet me in the basement ten minutes after the services start You: we can’t leave! 😶 Joshy: i thought you were a rebel 🤨 You: i am ):< Joshy: prove it to me You: i dont know Josh… Joshy: either you’re your parents’ good girl or your mine Joshy: you decide You: but Josh ): Joshy: ten minutes. I’ll see you downstairs ♥️
You glanced up as the sermon started, slipping your phone into your purse and placing your hands over it. The pastor’s words seemed to just go into one ear and out the other as you tried to think of a way to sneak away.
Checking your watch you saw you only had a couple minutes left. ‘How the hell am I going to get away?’ You glanced around, eyes scanning the congregation. Most eyes were on the pastor as he spoke, his droning voice no doubt boring into their brains much like it did to yours.
You noticed several kids were either dozing off, playing on their phones, or just flat out asleep. Even some adults were dozing off. You heard whispered voices behind you and glanced back in time to see Joshua whispering to his mother and getting up.
Turning back forward, you stared at the back of the bench before you, wracking your brain until Lilah’s words to you earlier hit you.
‘Throw up on him.’
‘That’s it!’ You leaned forward slightly, dropping your head. Your father merely glanced at you but your mother leaned across him to ask you what the matter was. You lifted your head briefly. “I think I’m going to be sick,” you whispered. Your mother studied your body and so you threw in a fake retch for good measure.
“Go to the bathroom. Do not throw up here.”
You nodded and got up slowly, making sure to move as quickly as possible but not too quickly. Once you were out in the foyer, you turned to the right and headed for the steps that lead into the basement of the church where a few rooms for classes and a secondary set of bathrooms were.
You walked down the hallway, keeping your head on a swivel to keep an eye out for not only your boyfriend but staff as well. You were passing an empty room when you felt a hand grab your arm and tug you into the room, another hand clamping over your mouth to prevent you from screaming.
Your heart hammered as Joshua pushed you against a wall, shutting the door behind him.
You let out a deep exhale as he removed his hand. “Sorry,” he said with a sheepish grin. “I didn’t want you to scream.” You hit him lightly with your purse. “You scared the crap out of me!” You hissed as he cackled softly. “I’m sorry, baby,” he said as he leaned in, pressing his lips to your cheek.
“Let me make it up to you?”
You felt one of his hands slid up between your legs. “We are in a church,” you hissed as his hand continued under your skirt. “That hasn’t stopped us before,” he murmured, lips ghosting over yours. “I thought we agreed to never talk about that again,” you whispered as his lips moved to your neck, leaving light, feathery kisses that verged on tickling.
“I guess I forgot that memo.”
You rolled your eyes, let out a soft gasp as his fingers made contact with your cloth covered sex. “Joshua!” You warned, though it couldn’t have been much of a warning when your voice was so shaky. Joshua clearly heard the tremble in your voice.
“You sure you want me to stop?” He asked, his hand stopping. You shook your head quickly. “No,” you gasped. Joshua smiled against your skin. “Good girl.”
"Have you seen my charger?"
Changbin glanced up, making eye contact with Minho who was peering into the room, holding up his wall plug but the cord was missing. Changbin shook his head and returned to his tablet.
Minho narrowed his eyes as his boss. "Did you take it?" he asked the younger man. Changbin glanced back up before fishing his phone out of his pocket and holding it up for Minho to see.
"Why would I take an Apple charger for an Apple device when I use exclusively Samsung products?" he asked, lips threatening to twitch into a smirk as he returned the same scrutinizing stare.
Minho only held his gaze for a few moments more before conceding. "What about Jeongguk?" he asked as Changbin pocket his phone and went back to ordering supplies on his tablet.
"Also Samsung," a voice said, causing Minho to turn and look up at the man in question as Jeongguk held up his phone. "Ask your roommate," Jeongguk added as he returned his phone to his pocket. Minho glared in the direction of Chris' station before slinking out of the room like a cat.
Jeongguk snorted as Minho could be heard in the background.
"Give me back my charger you thieving, two-faced Australian bitch!"
Changbin shook his head, holding in his laughter as he finished adding items to his cart. He glanced up as Jeongguk sat on the custom red bench Changbin specially ordered for his last shop.
"Do you need any new needles or bands?" Changbin asked, not looking up as he continued to tap away on his tablet. Jeongguk shook his head. I still have bands from that last order," he admitted and my station is overstocked on needles."
Changbin nodded silently as he proceeded to check out.
Minho and Chris could be heard bickering in the background as Changbin finished filling out the forms and placed his order, saving his confirmation number before setting the tablet on the desk behind him. He turned back to face his friend.
"Did you need something?" Changbin asked, just now noticing Jeongguk held a stack of colored papers in his hands. Jeongguk nodded at the stack, tilting it to show Changbin the front.
"They flyers came in," he answered. Four colors like you ordered," he added. Changbin crossed the distance and held out his hand to take the stack and look over the paper.
It was exactly as he ordered. "Perfect," he murmured. "You still wanna post them around town?" Jeongguk asked as Changbin flipped to the other colored pages. He nodded. "Yeah, where are the other two?" he asked, absent-mindedly scanning the paper.
Jeongguk leaned back and whistled, drawing the attention of the two bickering in the other room. Moments later, Chris and Minho appeared at the doorway, looking equal parts shocked and curious. "You got plans tonight?" Jeongguk asked, glancing over his shoulder at them.
"I was going to see Ari," Minho admitted while Chris shook his head. "We just got the flyers in," Changbin said, holding up the stack to show them. "We wanted to put them up around town," Jeongguk added. "You guys in?"
"Or you gonna make us do all the work?" Changbin asked teasingly. Chris smiled widely. "I'm in," he replied cheerfully before turning to look at Minho who rolled his eyes before a smirk formed on his face. "I guess I can see Ari afterwards," he said, pulling his phone out to no doubt shoot her a text.
"Great," Changbin said, splitting up the flyers and handing one color to each person. "Well split into pairs. Minho and Jeongguk, you take east of main, Chris and I will cover the west side. Check in with the small shops. Ask if they have a business bulletin board. If they refuse, just move on," Changbin explained. "I don't wanna make enemies or cause a scene."
Minho, Chris and Jeongguk nodded. "Wait, how are we attaching these?" Minho asked as Jeongguk glanced at Changbin. "Oh, right," the eldest said as he got up, handing his stack of papers to Changbin and sauntered out of the room.
He returned a couple moments later with a plain white paperboard box and opened the lid, setting it on the bench. He pulled out four staple guns, handing one to each guy before passing out smaller little boxes of staples. "My brother sent these with the flyers," he explained as he opened his own staple gun and loaded the staples into it.
"Your brother?" Chris asked, tilting his head curiously. Jeongguk nodded as he pulled the trigger, making sure his staple gun was loaded properly. "Yeah, he made the flyers." Minho glanced down at the papers. "He's a talented artist," he noted.
"He's a comic book artist," Jeongguk explained. "So we commissioned him to design the flyers and then print them for us," Changbin continued. "Come on," he added. "The sun's going down and I'd like to get this up with the light."
The four headed out of the shop, Changbin locking up after Minho finally exited. "If you run out of flyers, awesome," Changbin said looking at Jeongguk. "If not, no big deal. Just go around until the sun sets."
The brunet nodded and motioned for Minho to follow him. Changbin and Chris turned and headed in the opposite direction. It was a mundane and repetitive task, stapling the flyers on the wooden telephone poles, stopping by small businesses and asking them to display the flyers on any bulletin boards they might have.
A few businesses turned them away, albeit very rudely upon hearing the word tattoo. Some business owners were only too happy to help support other local businesses.
Half their stacks were gone as they continued down one of the many side streets off main street, stapling sheets as they went.
While taking a short break, Changbin noticed Chris smiling at his phone as he typed away. Changbin didn't want to pry but he wanted to make an effort to get to know his employees as he would most likely end up being close friends with these guys.
"Lilah?" Changbin asked, drawing Chris' attention. The older man smiled as he locked his screen. "Yeah," he answered. "She's really funny," he added. Changbin nodded. "She's pretty tol," he added, causing Chris to smile wider.
A comfortable silence fell over them before Chris spoke up.
"Her friend, Y/N, is really pretty, too."
Changbin’s heart thumped in his chest at the mention of Y/N's name. He nodded silently. "Yeah," he answered nonchalantly. "She has a boyfriend though, right?" Changbin added, looking at Chris who nodded. "Yeah," he said, sounding slightly bitter.
"Joshua Hong."
Changbin’s mind wandered back to that night at the club. The night he met you and was willing to put himself between you and your boyfriend. It was clear to him then that Joshua wasn't the nicest guy and he got that same impression again when he went to pick up his furniture from Serizawa's antique store.
"You don't like him?" Changbin asked, watching Chris as he contemplated telling him something. Whatever it was Chris was keeping from him, Changbin could tell he was hiding something bigger and he would be lying if he said his curiosity wasn't piqued.
"No," Chris answered, voice devoid of emotion. "From what Lilah tells me, Y/N could do so much better than Joshua," he continued. "Chris stopped in his tracks before turning to look at Changbin who had also stopped. "Why are you so interested all of a sudden?"
Changbin tried to play it off by shrugging. I met her through you and Lilah, she works at that furniture and antique shop. I keep running into her and I've been wondering if she's always so nice."
Chris nodded with a smile. "She's always been such a sweetheart. Ever since I first met her hardly anything gets her down." Changbin and Chris started walking again.
"You seem to know her pretty well," Changbin noted, to which Chris snorted. "I know what Lilah tells me," he corrected. He turned to fox Changbin with a curious look. "You seem awfully interested in a girl who has a boyfriend," he said, watching as Changbin shook his head once more. "Nah," Changbin answered.
"Just curious as to what her story is. That's all."
Across town, Minho and Jeongguk were just as busy stapling posters to every wooden post they came across.
"Ah my arms are so tired!" Minho whined, shaking his arm. Jeongguk snorted at him. "Are you always this whiny?" Jeongguk asked as he checked his phone. Minho gave him a cheeky smile. "No," he answered. "It's just for you."
Jeongguk playfully swiped at the younger man who dodged him easily. "Just hang up your damn flyers," Jeongguk said as he slipped his phone into his pocket again. "Stop bothering me."
Minho rolled his eyes as he moved to staple another flier to the phone pole. "Yes, dear."
It was Jeongguk's turn to roll his eyes as he pulled out his pack of cigarettes. Minho turned and shot a staple at him. Jeongguk glanced at the tiny metal projectile hanging onto his sweatshirt and looked up at Minho. "Aren't you supposed to be quitting?" Minho asked, narrowing his eyes as Jeongguk pulled out his lighter.
"'Supposed to' being the operative word," Jeongguk answered as he lit the end of the cigarette, taking a deep inhale. "To my credit," he continued as he put the pack and his lighter away. "I haven't bought any more. This is my last pack."
Minho rolled his eyes and continued down the street, stapling another flier to a wooden board covering a vacant building window.
"If you were a good friend, you'd help me finish the pack," Jeongguk jokingly accused as he took another drag. Minho laughed and turned to look at Jeongguk. "I'm not your friend," he retorted. "You're my employer," he added.
Jeongguk chuckled. "Seriously, do you want one?"
Minho shook his head. "I quit," he replied. "I noticed it only made me more anxious instead of taking the edge off."
Jeongguk shrugged his shoulders and took another puff. "Suit yourself."
The two of them continued down the street as the sun started to set behind the hills and trees that surrounded the town.
"Can I ask you something?" Minho asked suddenly. Jeongguk took another drag of his cigarette before exhaling. "Sure," he answered, looking at the younger man as they stopped on the sidewalk.
"How did you and Changbin meet? How do you know each other?"
Jeongguk hesitated, reaching up to scratch his head. "The long story is complicated but the short version is we met at a tattoo convention when Changbin was first looking to open his own shop. I was working a booth as a traveling artist, renting spaces at shops all over. I guess I was trying to find something more stable, " he explained before taking another long inhale of smoke.
"Changbin stopped by my booth and was impressed with my work and we started talking and when he asked which shop I worked at, I told him the truth," Jeongguk explained while Minho listened.
"He told me he was about to open his own shop and asked if I would come work at his place. Initially, I said no but the more I thought about it, I decided to give it a try," he continued.
Minho nodded, watching Jeongguk take another drag. "And that's it?" He asked. Jeongguk studied him for a moment before nodding.
"Yeah, pretty much. Four years later, and we're business partners," Jeongguk concluded. "He's my best friend," he added.
"As cheesy as it sounds, I couldn't imagine where I'd be in life without him," Jeongguk said as he took one last draw from his cigarette before putting it out. Minho nodded in understanding.
"I get it," he replied. "It's kind of like that for me with Chris." Jeongguk nodded in return before glancing up at the darkening sky. "Come on," he said suddenly. "We should head back, put more of these up on the way," he added, waving the lighter stack of flyers in his hand before leading the way down the sidewalk, Minho in tow.
Back at the shop, Changbin was scrolling on his phone while Chris played a music game when the door opened, the bell ringing and drawing their attention. Minho and Jeongguk entered with smug smiles on their faces. Minho held up his staple gun and aimed at Chris before launching a single tiny projectile at his friend.
"We put up all our flyers," Jeongguk said as Chris and Minho got into a staple war. Changbin looked impressed as Jeongguk strolled over and set his staple gun on the reception counter. "You smell like smoke," Changbin accused. Jeongguk shrugged his shoulders.
"My last pack is almost empty," he answered. "Then I'm done."
Changbin narrowed his eyes. "You better be," he said, playfully shoving his friend as Chris put Minho in a headlock which he quickly tapped out of.
Chris laughed loudly before looking over at Changbin and Jeongguk.
"Hey, we're gonna order some pizza and play video games tonight," he announced, drawing the attention of both men. "Maybe watch a movie. You guys wanna come?" Chris looked hopeful as Minho glanced to Jeongguk and Changbin who exchanged looks.
"Sure," Jeongguk answered, turning to look back at the two men.
Minho and Chris' eyes shifted to Changbin who glanced at Jeongguk before answering.
"Yeah, count me in.
You joined the crowd as the congregation exited the church, easily finding your mother and father as Joshua snuck off to find his parents. The sky had started to darken, gray clouds looming overhead.
Your mother turned to look at you and upon seeing you, she looked exasperated.
“You missed the whole service!” She reprimanded. You grimaced at her. “Sorry,” you replied. “I think I emptied the entire contents of my stomach in the bathroom.”
Your mother looked you over. “I was going to see if you wanted to join us for lunch with the Hong’s but perhaps you should go home,” she said as Joshua and his parents joined your little group. “I think we should postpone the lunch,” your mother said, sounding apologetic. “Y/N isn’t feeling well.
“Is that so?” Joshua’s mother asked, eyeing you suspiciously. You nodded silently as your mother felt your forehead. “Yes, she’s sweating and warm. She mentioned getting sick in the bathroom. I think we should wait until she feels better.”
Joshua’s mother nodded, lips pursed as she continued to look at you with that same scrutinizing stare. “Will you call Martin, dear,” your mother asked your father who reluctantly reached into his pocket for his phone.
Joshua interjected. “Y/N’s place is on the way to my apartment. I could drop her off,” he offered. “Maybe make her some soup and make sure she feels better before I head home?” The contrasting looks your mother and his gave you could have been comical.
Your mother was looking at your boyfriend like he was a saint, an angel even, to suggest doing something so sweet. The perfect boyfriend who would one day make the perfect husband. ‘In sickness and in health.’
His mother on the other hand was looking at you as if you were some harlot, trying to entice her son to sin. Like you would lead him directly into the gates of hell or something. She never did like you for some reason.
“If she’s sick, I don’t think it’s a good idea,” she said softly. You didn’t miss the intonation in her voice as she said the word sick. It held an underlying layer of contempt she held for you. Joshua waved her concern off. “I’m sure it’s fine, mother. Y/N probably ate something that didn’t agree with her,” he said.
“She’s always had issues with her stomach. I’m sure you remember that.”
Joshua’s mother pursed her lips again, glaring at you from behind her son.
“Thank you so much, Joshua,” your mother said sweetly as your boyfriend moved to wrap an arm securely around your shoulders. “It’s no trouble, Mrs. Y/L/N. After all, Y/N is my girlfriend and I would be a terrible boyfriend if I didn’t take care of her.” You could have sworn you saw your mother swoon as Joshua said goodbye to both sets of parents and gently steered you towards the door.
“You really don’t have to drive me home,” you said as you descended the steps outside and followed the sidewalk towards the parking lot. Joshua chuckled as he led the way. “Actually, I do now,” he answered. “If either of our parents saw you walking home, they would ask a lot more questions than they are now.”
You cursed mentally, knowing he was right.
“I guess you’ve got a point,” you said with a shrug. Joshua tsked and rolled his eyes. “Just can’t admit it when I’m right, can you?” You shook your head with a wide grin. “Never.”
Joshua scoffed as he led you to the passenger side of his car. “Brat,” he murmured as he unlocked and opened your door for you. “Thank you,” you said, laying heavy on the word so he wouldn’t know what you were thanking him for.
The ride back to your place took a shorter amount of time than the ride to the church. Joshua parked on the street, as he usually did. He had every intention of coming inside to “take care of you” as he put it. As soon as the apartment door shut, he was on you in seconds, one hand on your cheek and the other on the small of your back as he carefully backed you against your kitchen counter.
“Up,” he simply said, moving both hands to your thighs to help you up onto the counter before his lips were back on yours. “I need to go to the store,” you interrupted, pulling away but he shook his head. “I’ll order you groceries,” he answered, lips moving down your neck and stopping to remove your blazer and untuck your shirt.
“Joshua!” You whined as he pulled your top off over your head and threw it aside. “Keep saying my name like that,” he said breathlessly. Your head tilted to the side as his lips continued to kiss down your neck. “Seeing you come undone earlier really drove me crazy,” he groaned, fingers digging into the skin of your exposed thighs.
Before you had a chance to reply, he pulled you down from the counter, turning you to face away before he pressed against you, grinding into your ass. “I had to deal with this the whole ride over here,” he growled. You pushed back against him.
“Must have been so hard for you,” you said, enjoying the way he grew more and more frustrated. “If you don’t stop it, I’ll take you right here.” You hummed in response. “Oh, i’m so scared,” you replied, pushing against him again, letting out a moan at the feeling of his erection grinding against you.
“Fine,” Joshua said, one hand moving to the back of your neck. “Have it your way, brat.” Without another word, he pushed your chest down against the counter, keeping you pinned while the other hand reached to undo his belt and pants.
“You gonna keep me waiting?” You asked teasingly as Joshua pushed his pants and boxers down enough to pull his cock free. “What have I told you about that attitude, sweetheart?” He asked as his hand pushed your skirt up, grabbing the back of your panties and roughly pulling them down your thighs.
“That you’ll fuck it out of me?” You asked coyly.
Joshua wasted no time, ramming his cock into your pussy, making you cry out. He quickly placed his hand over your mouth to muffle your moans. “Precisely,” he answered before his hips started to thrust sharply, hitting your ass with each movement.
Each thrust had you practically screaming into his hand, your own hands trying to find something to grab onto to ground yourself from the force of your boyfriend’s hips. Another loud scream, muffled by his hand, escaped your lips.
“You alright, baby?” You heard him in your ear, his hips slowing to shallow thrusts. You nodded, breathing heavily against his hand. "Good," he replied, resuming the same merciless pace as before, pounding into you from behind, hand still muffling your cries as he took his pent up sexual tension on your body.
It never failed to astonish you just how rough Joshua got in bed. Of course, he wasn't like that the first couple times. It wasn't until you asked him to go a little harder that it came out. When you were both frustrated and needed release, he usually bent you over the closest surface and fucked you so hard you couldn't walk.
That wasn't to say he was always rough with you. For every rough session, he made up for the abuse to your core by showering you in affection. For every scream he'd pulled from you, there were twice as many whispered I love you's as he reverently made love to you.
"Fuck, I'm not gonna last," you heard him grunt in your shoulder. "I'm gonna cum." You whimpered against his hand as he chased his high, taking you over the edge with him as you both came together, you with a squeal as he thrust deeply into your abused hole, spilling his seed inside you, coating your walls.
With one final thrust, Joshua’s grip on you loosened and he had to brace himself against the counter to keep from collapsing on top of you. You panted heavily, cheek pressed against the cool granite of your kitchen counter. You felt his fingers comb through your hair, brushing some of the strands away from your face.
"You okay, baby?" he asked breathlessly. You nodded slowly and wordlessly as you tried to catch your own breath. Joshua leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to your temple. "I didn't hurt you, did I?" he asked, lips brushing against your cheek.
You shook your head, exhaling against the granite. "No," you finally whispered. "Do you want me to help you up?"
Joshua always made sure to ask if you wanted or needed assistance and you appreciated that about him. You nodded and whined as he pulled back, his cock slipping from your pussy.
He quickly redressed himself and then carefully helped you stand before guiding you to your bathroom. He helped you sit on the toilet before moving to start the shower. "I could stay and join you," he offered as he tested the temperature of the water.
You smiled and shook your head. "I'll be okay, Joshua," you answered. He closed the curtain and turned to cross the short distance between you, kneeling down and taking your chin gently in his hand. "You sure you don't want me to stay, angel?" he asked, eyes meeting yours in a loving gaze.
You nodded in response. "Yeah," you said with a sigh. "I'll be okay."
Joshua stood up, leaning over to press a kiss to your forehead.
"Okay, sweetheart," he replied softly. "I'll check on you later."
You thanked him as he stood upright, looking up at him from your seated position. His hand moved to cup your cheek, thumb stroking your skin tenderly. "I love you, Y/N," he said as you reached up to place your hand over his and leaned into his touch.
"I love you too, Joshua."
After stealing a few more kisses, Joshua finally left your apartment and allowed you to undress and step into the scalding shower stream. You sighed loudly as the steaming hot water hit your skin. It helped to work out your sore muscles from being bent over the kitchen counter for a while.
After cleaning yourself off, you stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around yourself and headed into your kitchen, grabbing your purse and sifting through it until you found your phone. Turning the device on, you saw you had a couple missed texts from Lilah and Joshua.
You answered both before heading into your bedroom area to get changed into some clean clothes. Once dressed you headed back into the living room, about to sit down when there was a knock at your door. You sighed heavily and walked over to check the peephole.
Your neighbor stood on the other side.
You unlocked and opened the door, smirking up at Wonwoo. "Yes, neighbor?" you asked. Wonwoo peered past you into your apartment before looking back at you nervously.
"You alright?" he asked sheepishly. You stared at him blankly, blinking a few times. "Uh, yeah?" you answered. Wonwoo nodded slowly. "I heard you scream earlier and wanted to make sure you were okay," he replied.
Your cheeks burned. "Oh, um," you answered. "Joshua was here earlier," you added softly. Wonwoo's eyes widened and his cheeks turned pink as he realized what he'd overheard.
"Understandable. Okay. Have a good day," he sputtered. "Glad you're okay."
He quickly shuffled back to his apartment, clearly just as embarrassed as you as he shut his door, leaving you to shut your own door and retreat back into your apartment, completely mortified that your neighbor and friend had overheard you and Joshua.
You grabbed your phone and shot a quick text, informing your boyfriend that he wasn't allowed to make you scream at your place anymore. Joshua's reply came minutes later, finding it highly amusing.
Joshy: guess next time I won't cover your mouth 😌 You: 🥲 I'm glad you find this amusing Joshy: I'm just teasing you baby Joshy: but you're feeling okay? You: yes. I'm making some ramen now You: gonna watch a movie Joshy: do you still want me to send you some groceries? You: it's okay. I'll order them later 🥰 thank you though Joshy: of course. Anything for you, my love 💕 You: 💕🥰
You set your phone aside to focus on making your food before settling down on your couch and starting the movie Lilah had recommended to you last week.
It was a decent movie, not the best, but you could see the appeal as you finished your noodles and started working on making a grocery list. You were scribbling a few items down when your phone started buzzing on the coffee table.
You reached forward and grabbed it, recognizing your boss' number and answered it immediately.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Y/N?" Mr. Serizawa's voice came over the speaker. "This is Isei." You sat upright. "Hello, Mr. Serizawa, how are you?"
"Oh, I'm alright. And more importantly, Shinju is doing well," he answered. You sighed in relief. "I'm so glad to hear that," you replied, tucking the device between your ear and shoulder.
"It's been a huge relief," Mr. Seirzawa stated. "But that's not exactly why I called," he continued. "Our grandson is coming back into town next week and we won't be able to pick him up."
You smiled, knowing there this was going. "Any chance you could head to pick him up from the ferry station in the next town over?"
You nodded, mostly to yourself. "Of course," you answered. "I'll pick him up," you answered to his immense relief. "If you want to borrow our car, I can leave the keys at the shop for you."
"That's okay, Mr. Serizawa," you replied. "I'll just borrow one of my parents' cars." You heard him sigh on the other side of the line. "Thank you so much Y/N, you're really helping us out here. I'll call Daniel and let him know you'll be picking him up."
You wrote down the details, making sure to double check the time. "Okay, Mr. Serizawa. I'll call my dad right after this and get one of his cars to use," you said before finally saying goodbye and hanging up the line. You quickly put the details in your phone before pulling up your father’s contact info and took a deep breath.
"Here we go."

Only if you are a SAINT of patience and are willing to show love 24/7, then, yeah, Pal could be a nice partner for you.
Physical demonstration of love can be... A little difficult or awkward, at least for you(or maybe not). I imagine giving Pal a little smooch would be similar to kissing an egg. Either way, I don't think Pal minds at all! In the end, it's still attention. The same goes for cuddling, imagine cuddle with a egg.
But, Pal can control wires(at least, in the building), meaning Pal could easily wrap them around you as a small show of his affection, if that means you will consider him a pal. But this could maybe end up with him refusing to let you go for a few... hours.
Trying to go out without Pal could be difficult, he always wants to be glued into you, so you could try:
1) Just bring him together(But trying to convince Pal to be quiet depending on the place).
2) You can try to convince him that you can find a way to connect him to perhaps the television or computer for some entertainment for Pal. Whinch I doubt it would work, in the end all he wants is you.
3) Attempt to promise to Pal to always tell where you are going(If this is even going to work...)
4) Or...I don't know, therapy? Try talking to him that if he really liked you, he would trust you in this topic. Still not sure if that would work, tho.
Pal sounds like the folk who would use a wide range of nicknames for you, but I bet one of his favorite ones to use would be either "sweetheart" or "sunshine".
Trust me when I say every type of love language is just perfect for Pal, it's all good attention to him anyway. Gifts? Only if it's something he can use and enjoy, he would be more than happy. Verbally? Pal could get all flurstered. Physical? He doesn't have (as far as we/I know) touch sensors, meaning he can't feel your affection, however, Pal does appreciate it! Playing with him? Pal wouldn't trade this moment for anything.
Of course, Pal can be a "little" jealous. It can be annoying, but don't see his actions as completely malicious when he wants to know who you went out with yesterday, this buddy is just completly obssesed with attention and is paranoid about losing you. And everytime he can, Pal will drop a few signals here and there to the person in front of you that you already have the best and only pal.

louis fucks harry so hard he literally can’t walk
"Are you alright?" Niall asks, hands the steaming mug of breakfast tea over to Harry. He's propped up on the couch in the lounge, heating pad on against his lower spine, looks a little pinched around the eyes and Niall is concerned.
"Yeah, just a long night." Harry dismisses, takes the cuppa with a grateful nod, sips at the edge with a small grimace.
"Why? Did you and Louis fight? You went to bed so early." Niall slumps down on the other end of the couch, notices immediately when Harry lets out a soft grunt, flinching hard. "What happened?"
"I'm just-" Harry pauses, licks over his lips slowly, considering. It's not like Niall is a saint. He's done some fucking wild things on tour. It's just, well, Harry isn't sure he wants to ruin Niall's perception of their fellow band mate this early in the morning.
"Harry, hey, I won't judge. If something is going on-" Niall swallows a little, reaches out to touch Harry's knee. "Did…Did he hurt you? I know Louis rough houses a bit with the rest of us but I never thought he'd get violent-"
"No! Oh no!" Harry immediately shouts, shaking his head. "No! Of course not. Louis would never. Has never."
"I didn't think he would but I just wanted to be sure! I read online that even people closest to a couple will miss signs of abuse." Niall gasps, shocked as Harry lets out a loud laugh.
"Nialler, you're such a sweetheart. Louis stepped on my foot yesterday and nearly had an aneurysm. I don't think we have to worry about that, ever, at all.," Harry rolls his eyes, "He doesn't hurt me unless…um."
"Oh."
The silence stretches and both boys stare in opposite directions. There isn't any judgement between them, not anymore, but it just lingers there.
"I can't really walk." Harry coughs a little awkward, scratching his nose.
"Damn. Was it-" Niall clears his throat. "Was it good at least?"
"Oh yeah. For sure. One of the top shags we've done." Harry is quick to nod. "Just on the mend today is all."
"Well that's good. I'm happy for you." Niall nods, pats Harry's knee in the way an awkward father might congratulate his son. "Good for Louis then too? Excellent form."
"Yeah, he's great. The best. I'll let him know you give him praise." Harry smirks wide when Niall's face goes pink.
"No, mate, I don't think that's necessary. I'm good, thanks."
