Wha… How am I back here..?
Last I remember, I was back at the base.. I took this rat that was attacking Dakota while Tide, Mark and Ashe were on the couch, for some reason, and I set it up with a ghost rat cage and ghost rat supplies in my room while helping Dakota bandage his wounds from the fight..
and now I’m here.
And a bit ago, this splitting noise started ringing from somewhere, but I can’t find the source. It seems to be coming from somewhere above? But it’s so loud that it seems to be coming from everywhere.
I just keep wandering these creepy fucking trees and the barely carved out footpaths hoping to find anything to help me leave, but there’s nothing. My hands are freezing… I’m really glad Tide got me those hand warmers.
I’ve been burning through them to try and keep myself warm. But I guess I’ve lost more feeling in my hands than I thought, because the skin has started to blister in some places from the heat.
I don’t want to think about that right now. I just want to go home.
(William does not wake up to Tide’s alarm. William does not wake up. William passed out in the bathroom mid sentence once he finished bandaging Dakota, and has been dead asleep since.
If one were to check, he wouldn’t have a pulse at the moment.)

Tumblr media
It was a terrible idea, really, to work the night shift at a gas station alone. Even more so when you’re a young woman whose only defense is the pepper spray on her key chain and 911 on speed dial. Alas, college bills don’t pay themselves and every spare opportunity to get cash was one I had to take.
The digital clock sitting on the counter next to me briefly flashed, indicating another hour had gone by. It was currently four a.m. and it was safe to say I was losing my mind. I’d worked for five hours now, and not a customer had come in. That was the only advantage, really. So long as no one was around my boss let me finish any assignments I had, which came in handy on more than one occasion.
I was only six paragraphs into a five page report and had been staring at my laptop screen for over an hour, feeling beyond brain dead. I was assigned the topic of financial statements and country trade deficits, and wanted to cry every minute I thought about it. I was half convinced to pay someone to write the report for me.
The ringing of a bell indicated a customer opening the door and I closed my laptop to peer around the counter, ready to greet whoever entered. The first man to catch my attention was wearing sunglasses which fazed me, but I tried not to stare. The man that followed had black hair with blond underneath, a combination that I strangely liked. Both men were donned in all back, their faces stoic. They were attractive, I had to admit, but neither were my type.
And then, the last man entered. He looked over to me as he walked through the door, giving me a nod and a slight smile. His slicked back black hair matched his black ripped jeans and highlighted his red leather jacket. He was so handsome he looked like he jumped out of a magazine and I had to suppress a ‘wow’. A string of butterflies fluttered in my stomach and I did my best to ignore them, not even knowing his name.
The three of them wandered through the aisles until I could no longer see them, and I scolded myself for being so thrown off that I forgot say any form of a greeting. I sighed and turned my attention back to my laptop, opening it and blankly staring at the screen. My ears perked when I heard the men’s hushed voices.
“Y’oughta get that girl’s number. I saw the way you looked at her.”
“Yeah, Jongho. She’s pretty cute. If you don’t get her number you know I will.”
“Shut up.” One of the men, Jongho apparently, responded with a laugh, “Let’s just get some snacks, okay? It’s gonna be a long night. Also I’m buying tonight so get whatever.”
A smile crept on my face and I looked down, fiddling with my thumbs.
They think I’m cute. Maybe Jongho’s the one in red?
I heard the bell ring once more and a girl entered who I vaguely remembered from high school. She was popular but for good reason, probably being one of the nicest people I’d ever met. Our circle of friends overlapped slightly so I’d spent a fair amount of time with her. She was smart as a whip and gorgeous all the same, which seemed to stay with her. She looked bright, long red hair falling around her face, freckles still prominent as ever.
We met eyes and she smiled, “Hey y/n!”
I smiled and waved, “Hey Annabelle. How’ve you been? I haven’t seen you in awhile.”
“Good! I got into my dream college and it’s been great, although I’ve had to take some pretty hard classes.” She giggled, walking towards me. It’s honestly not too far from here. You go to Westgate University, right?”
I nodded and I put my laptop aside. She spoke again, genuinely excited for me, “That’s awesome! Congrats!”
“Thanks,” I smiled, “I’m taking it you got into Orholt?”
“I did! I was really-”
One of the men that entered earlier—the one still wearing sunglasses—shouted the redhead’s name and caught her attention, “Hey Anna do you want a Redbull or a Five Hour Energy?”
“Redbull! I’m not a monster.” She laughed.
The man nodded and walked toward us with several drinks and snacks in his hands.
“Oh! I want to introduce you to my boyfriend!” Annabelle turned to the man still wearing sunglasses and reached for his arm, “This is Minho. I met him at Orholt.”
Minho gave me a slight nod as I introduced myself and he placed the food and drinks on the counter. I began to scan the items, the mindless routine that I was used to by now. The loud sound of laughter made me look up, seeing the two other men approach us and place their snacks down as well. I watched them long enough to notice the way two-tone—my new affectionate name for the man with blond and black hair, I decided—shamelessly checked me out, a cocky smile on his face when I caught him. I just let out a small laugh before resuming my task, watching his confused reaction in my peripheral vision.
“Oh my god I totally forgot to introduce you to my friends.” Annabelle giggled and pointed to two-tone, “This is Wooyoung.”
“Hiya, Wooyoung.” I said with a confident smile, enjoying the way he still had a slightly confused look on his face.
“And this,” Annabelle nodded towards the man in red, “This is Jongho. Both him and Wooyoung go to Orholt, too.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Jongho. I’m y/n.”
“Very nice to meet you.” The man smiled before he sent me a wink.
I had never been a particularly shy person, but as he did so my eyes darted down as I felt my face flush. I didn’t notice the gears turning in Annabelle’s head as she put the pieces together.
I placed the final items in the bag, raising my head as Annabelle addressed me,  “You know I’m having a bonfire tomorrow night at my place and you should totally come!”
I stopped to think, first trying to remember if I worked the next day, then wondering if I was willing to go the bonfire when I realized I didn’t have to.
She sensed my hesitancy and her face fell, “Aw do you work tomorrow night? It’s a Saturday!”
“Oh no, I don’t. I...” I stopped to think for a minute. Although I likely didn’t know anyone else who would be there, I was familiar with Annabelle’s house, which brought me a bit of comfort, “Are all of you going?”
Annabelle gave a knowing smile, “Yes. All of us will be here.”
I nodded, accepting the credit card Jongho gave me, quickly after handing them the bags, and returning his card, “I’ll go.”
“Yay! We’ve gotta head out but I’ll send you the details. You’ve still got the same number, right?”
“Yeah I do.”
“Alrighty! I’ll see you tomorrow then!”
Annabelle left with a wave, her boyfriend on her arm and Wooyoung behind her. To my surprise, Jongho didn’t leave with them, the cocky look on his face all but telling me why he stayed.
I looked at him with wide eyes, playing innocent. “Can I help you?”
He placed an arm on the counter, his dark eyes seeming to put me under a spell. The confidence he was radiating was almost palpable and I felt myself being pulled to him. It was intimidating, to be honest.
“You’re really cute and I want your number.”
I let out a surprised laugh, “You really don’t beat around the bush, do you?”
“No, not really,” He propped his other arm on the counter, leaning towards me and raising an eyebrow, “So what do you say, doll?”
A smile crept on my face as I mirrored his actions and leaned towards him, “You gonna memorize my number? Or do you have a phone I can put my number into?”
Jongho’s smile got brighter as he reached to grab his phone, handing it to me. “You’re a firecracker, aren’t you?”
I shrugged, “I’d like to think so.”
When I handed his phone back, our fingers brushed and I could’ve sworn I felt sparks shoot through me at the simple interaction.
“Well I need to head out before the rest of them get too annoyed,” He nodded towards the exit where Annabelle, Minho, and Wooyoung left, “But it was enchanting to meet you, y/n.” He bowed, drawing a laugh from me.
“Ah yes. You as well, absolutely delightful.”
He gave me a smile, “I’ll text you later.”
"Sounds good. I’ll hold you to your word.”
“I’d expect nothing less.” And with that, he was out the door, leaving my heart a fluttering mess.

Me [8:37pm] So is there a dress code for tonight?
Annabelle [8:42pm] Nope! Wear whatever you’re comfortable with. I’m wearing this if it helps at all!
Annabelle [8:43pm] 1 Image Attached*
Me [8:45pm] So leather jackets and crop tops?
Annabelle [8:48pm] Haha sure! We can match!
Me [8:51pm] Lol bet. See you at eleven :)
Annabelle [8:51pm] See you then!
I started the process of slipping on a white cropped top followed by my light washed ripped jeans. I knew I was getting ready far earlier than I could have, but something about new events made me anxious and I had to make sure I looked nice. I giggled at the black leather jacket I was throwing over my shoulders, not having worn it since high school. In the middle of debating whether or not I should add another layer of mascara to my lashes, my phone dinged.
New Number [8:59pm] Y/n this better be you. This is Jongho and I’m texting you for a really important reason and I need you to reply quick
Me [9:00pm] Yeah it’s me. What’s going on are you okay??
New Number [9:02pm] I’m gonna go grab some food before I head to Anna’s. You wanna come with?
Me [9:02pm] Oh my god don’t do that to me, you buffoon. You scared me so bad rip
[New Number name changed to A Cute Buffoon]
Me [9:03pm] But sure I’m down lol. Here’s my address btw
Me [9:03pm] 1 Location Shared*
It occurred to me perhaps a bit too late that I was sharing my address with someone that I’d met only once and in a gas station.
I mean, he’s friends with Annabelle so he’s gotta be good right? God I hope so. I thought to myself.
A Cute Buffoon [9:04] Then it’s a date :) I live pretty close so I’ll be over in 10. That work for you?
Me [9:06pm] Fine with me!
A Cute Buffoon [9:06pm] Sounds good. I’ll see you soon ;)
I set down my phone and thanked myself for already doing my makeup. I checked myself out in the mirror, satisfied with my appearance and proud of how well my makeup turned out. I grabbed my bottle of perfume and spritzed the liquid in the air, letting it gradually fall on me so it wouldn’t be too overpowering.
You look beautiful, babe.
The waiting game was harder than I thought, not knowing what to do except awkwardly sit around and play an assortment of phone games. When exactly ten minutes had passed I heard my doorbell ring and I lifted myself from my couch, grinning at his punctuality.
I opened the door to see Jongho holding a bouquet of flowers, a smug look on his face. “Lovely to meet you here, stranger.”
I wanted to make a joke back but I couldn’t seem to think of anything, too surprised by the flowers in his hands. It wasn’t anything extravagant, the small bouquet of violets, but I felt my heart swell.
It’s perfect. He’s perfect.
My voice was small when I spoke, “No one’s ever given me flowers before.”
His eyebrows furrowed as a confused look painted his face, “Really?”
I nodded, taking the flowers from his outreached hands and smelling their sweet fragrance, “They’re beautiful.”
My eyes flickered to his, the tender look on his face making me feel as if I was melting on the spot, “You’re beautiful.”
I squealed, my face undoubtedly turning pink while my mind short circuited. I’d never become so shy around someone before and the only thing I could think of to say in response was another ‘thank you’ followed by ‘I’ll go get a vase for these.’
I opened my door further, rummaging through my cabinets for a vase when I noticed Jongho was still standing by the door, “You can come in, you know? That’s why I opened the door.”
He laughed nervously, “Sorry about that. Force of habit, I guess.”
I raised my eyebrows in a teasing manner, “What? Are you a vampire? Can you only come in if someone invites you?”
I thought I saw a flicker of shock on his face for a moment, but it was gone before I could register it and I shrugged it off, my eyes finding the perfect vase for the flowers.
“It’s just how I was raised.”
“I get that.” I placed the flowers in the vase, giving them a bit of water before walking up to Jongho and gently patting his cheek, “Your good manners are appreciated.”
He laughed in surprise, full gummy smile on display as he playfully swatted my hand away from his face, “Alright, alright. Let’s head out already.”
I made a sound of agreement before noticing a slight pink on his ears. I was temped to tease him, but ultimately decided to save it for later. If I could fluster him once I knew I could do it again.
-
The diner we went to was one I’d never heard of before, let alone been to, and I was beyond frustrated that I didn’t even know about it’s existence. It was an adorable fifties style diner and even the attire the waiters were wearing fit the theme.
“This is the cutest place to ever exist, I’m convinced.” I said as we sat down on the same side of a bright red booth.
“I really hoped you would like it. This is my favorite restaurant ever and they have fantastic milkshakes. If you’d like to share one for desert, I’m all for it.” A wink.
I bit my lip and hid my face in the menu that was placed in front of us, thankful for any method of escape.
“You’re so cute.”
“Ahh no don’t say things like that.” I giggled from behind the menu.
His hand grabbed the top of the menu, pulling it down so he could see me, “Why’s that?”
“Because you make me nervous. Like a good nervous!” I tried to explain, which only resulted in becoming even more embarrassed, “I-I mean I’m excited to be around you but I’m also nervous. I hope that doesn’t sound weird.” I cringed at myself. Never in my life did I think I’d be blushing and stuttering over some man, but my god did he prove me wrong.
“Not at all,” he reached over to take my hand in his, “because I feel it, too.”
Before I could properly react our waitress came over, taking our order and effectively saving me from becoming a human tomato.
We handed our menus back to her after ordering and she looked at us with a soft smile, “You two make a cute couple.”
While I was a bit too stunned to say anything, Jongho didn’t seem to have the same problem and went along with it, “Thank you, ma’am. That’s kind of you to say.”
When she left, Jongho leaned closer to me, “I hope I didn’t make you uncomfortable by saying that we we’re a couple. I thought that-”
“No, I didn’t mind it!” I bit my tongue after likely saying that way too fast with far too much enthusiasm, but I meant it, “I didn’t mind it,” I said again, softer this time.
The tips of his ears once again turned a faint shade of pink, “Good to know.”
The food was as wonderful as it possibly could’ve been, their fries alone being one of the best things I’d ever consumed. Just as Jongho suggested, we shared a milkshake, which led to shy eye contact and laughter and my crush becoming stronger by the minute.
Just as Jongho paid and we were about to leave, a certain song began to play and he looked at me with an air of mischief, holding out his hand to me, “Dance with me.”
I took his hand, trying to hide my smile but failing. He led me away from the table and next to the jukebox. The area surrounding it was more open, probably with the intention for people to dance near it. He grabbed my waist, holding the hand of mine that wasn’t placed on his chest and looking at me in a way that could make any woman fall in love on the spot. We swayed to the music and I couldn’t help but feel full. Like I’d found all that I’d ever need.
Put your head on my shoulder~
“Do you know this song?” He asked with a smile.
I scoffed, “Of course I do! It’s one of my favorites.”
“It’s one of mine, too.”
Hold me in your arms, baby~
I mouthed along to the words as I felt the need to prove it to him. As if to one up me, Jongho began to sing along, his gorgeous voice amazing me.
Squeeze me oh so tight, show me~
That you love me, too~
I blushed as he looked at me while singing along, becoming a bit flustered himself when the lyrics clicked with him.
Put your lips next to mine dear~
Won’t you kiss me once, baby~
As if we were in sync our eyes darted to the other’s lips at the same time. I could feel Jongho’s breathing becoming heavier before he said in a hushed tone, “Can I kiss you?”
“Please.” Was all I could respond before I pressed my lips to his, fireworks igniting inside me when he kissed me back. His lips were so soft and warm and as crazy as it sounded, he felt like home. I felt him smile against my lips as the music continued to play.
Maybe you and I will fall in love~
-
The fire was loud, crackling and lighting up the faces of all those crowded those around it. It was essentially the only source of light in the dark of the night, except for the distant lights still on in Annabelle’s house. My hands were interlocked with Jongho’s as we sat around it’s warmth, both of us finding it hard to separate from one another.
Conversation was flowing all around us, and I was relieved to find that everyone I had talked to was kind and welcoming. I was more nervous than I realized, but having Jongho next to my side alone calmed me. Someone around the fire mentioned an old story involving Annabelle and I began to wonder where she was, having not seen her since Jongho and I first arrived. I mentioned I was going to look for her and he nodded, at first wanting to join me but then getting pulled into conversation with one of his former classmates. I told him I’d head off on my own and he nodded again.
I looked around what seemed to be the entire property and still there was no sight of her. At that moment I heard yelling coming from her house, startling me. I felt my blood run cold when I recognized one of the voices as Annabelle’s. The yelling didn’t sound like it was out of fear, but instead more aggressive, out of pure anger. Without thinking I ran inside, hoping to calm the situation but instead found what seemed to be out of a work of fiction.
An unfamiliar man was on the ground, obviously trying to get away from a hidden figure before him that seemed to be cloaked in darkness. He let out a sound that I’d never heard a human make, one that I couldn’t even compare to something I’d heard before, and a shiver ran down my back. As the figure took a step forward I recognized it as Annabelle, or what seemed to be some version of her. Her normally grey eyes were now bright red, sharp fangs on display as she snarled at the man. A group of people were surrounding them, alarmed looks on their faces but hardly trying to intervene.
“What the hell?” I whispered, my eyes wide as I tried to back away without anyone noticing. But of course, I just had to step on an empty soda can, all eyes pointing my way. As I looked at the people around me, their expressions seemed to mirror mine and I swallowed, suddenly feeling immensely claustrophobic.
I met eyes with Annabelle and she seemed to change in a flash, her eyes returning to their former color and fangs disappearing. She looked more panicked than I had ever seen her which only scared me more. She was always able to keep her stressors under control, but as she stared back at me, I saw a version of her I never had before.
I was barely able to form a sentence, adrenaline coursing through me at a rampant rate, “Um...”
Annabelle slowly walked towards me, “Oh—hey! Sorry I disappeared for a while but how’s the party going? Are you having fun?” Panic was still evident in her voice but I knew she was trying to keep a hold of the situation.
“I...I don’t-”
A stern voice came from left, and I nervously turned to meet Jongho, an unreadable expression crossing his face, “Y/n.”
“Yeah?” My voice squeaked as I began to regret agreeing to come along in the first place, still hyper aware of all the eyes on me.
“Come with me.”
His eyes softened at my panicked state and he held out a hand, “Please?”
I was hesitant, but being anywhere away from the crowd and whatever Annabelle turned into seemed to be a good idea. I took his hand and watched as he exchanged a look with Annabelle that seemed to calm her. Turning on his heels he led me back to the bonfire, sitting in a chair and motioning for me to do the same. Seeing no one around us gave me a feeling of both anxiety and comfort, and I wasn’t quite sure which feeling was winning at the moment.
“Well I’m sure you have plenty of questions.” He started, “I won’t lie to you and try to convince you what you saw wasn’t real, because it was, but I need you to know that no one is going to harm you. That guy is Anna’s roommate and they get into an argument at least once a week. Sometimes it can be nasty, but they never get physical and neither would ever hurt anyone unprovoked. No one here would.”
I was silent for a few minutes, trying to process what I saw on top of the time bomb of information he dropped on me. “Is she...is everyone....are you a vampire?” I whispered the last words, almost too stunned and afraid to say out loud.
He smiled slightly, his kind eyes making me feel safe. “Yes. We’re what you’d call vampires.”
I took a breath, almost afraid to hear the answer to my question, “Am I in any danger by being here?”
“No, everyone here is good. They don’t pose any threat. There are plenty of dangerous vampires but we stay away from them. Besides,” He placed an arm around my waist, playfulness in his eyes, “If there were, I’d protect you from them.”
“Oh? And how don’t I know you’re not dangerous?”
He leaned closer to me, clearly enjoying this, “You don’t, I suppose. Doesn’t that make it fun?”
“That’s very much debatable,” I smiled for a moment before a frown took over, “Everyone just seemed really...I don’t know, startled I guess?”
Jongho let out a loud sigh, looking down at the ground for a few seconds before looking back up at me, “Humans aren’t normally invited to these parties. It’s assumed that everyone here is a vampire. The perfume that you’re wearing, whatever the hell it is, is masking your scent. If I didn’t meet you before today I wouldn’t have known you were human. I guess Anna didn’t tell everyone, either.” He placed a hand on my knee and looked at me with kind eyes, “How are you feeling?”
“Surprisingly calm considering that I just learned vampires exist.”
Jongho laughed, “Yeah I’d say you’re taking it pretty well. Like I said earlier though, I’m sure you’ve got plenty of questions, so fire away.”
“Yeah I have a few.” I hesitated, hoping he wouldn’t be offended by my question, “Exactly how old are you?”
“Oh are you gonna age shame me?”
“No but it’s probably an important thing to know...since we kissed and all.”
He laughed again and leaned back in his chair, placing his arms behind his head,  “How old do you think I am?”
I used his question as an excuse for my eyes to wander over his body. He was beyond attractive, very clearly fit and he knew it, which equal parts pissed me off and turned me on. As hard as I tried, I kept finding myself being pulled to his thighs. Even through his jeans I could tell he had strong thighs and I had to press my fingernails into my palm to keep from drooling. “From your appearance? Early twenties. From what age fiction usually tells us vampires are? I’d guess you’re a hundred and three.”
Jongho nodded with a smile, “I’m not quite that old but that’s a fair guess. You had it right the first time. I’m a pure born and we actually age, but we don’t age as quickly as humans. I’m twenty.”
“Pure born?”
“It means both of my parents are vampires.”
I nodded as another question came to mind, a smile on my lips. “Do you sparkle in the daylight?”
“Oh my god,” He covered his face with his hands, a mixture of a groan and a laugh escaping his mouth, “No, we do not sparkle in daylight, “His hands came to rest on his knees, “But it sucks that we really shouldn’t be in direct sunlight for over two hours a day. That’s normally the rule to go by. It’ll burn us if we’re in it for much longer than that.”
“So do werewolves and witches and everything like that exist, too?”
“Yeah pretty much. We don’t all get along, but we have to coexist. It’s something we’ve struggled with for a while, unfortunately. Basically everything you’d believe to be supernatural exists.”
I was silent for a while, not really knowing what else to say.
“Y/n? Are you doing okay? If you’re not comfortable being here I can drive you home right now or if you’d rather be alone I can call an Uber or—”
My heart skipped a beat at his kindness. “No, I’m okay. I guess I’m just surprised I’m learning about this just now.”
“We do a good job of hiding it. Also it was probably a given, but keep this as a secret if you can. Having a lot of people know about our existence can be risky.”
I gave him a silent nod, unintentionally leaning closer to him. The sound of approaching footsteps made me jump into Jongho’s arms. I didn’t know why I found comfort in him, knowing that he could be dangerous as well, but he’d been nothing but sweet to me. I had no reason to fear him.
Annabelle approached us but stopped, taking a few steps back when she saw how I was buried in Jongho’s arms.
“Hey y/n.” She rubbed her arm, looking down as if she’d done something wrong.
“I guess Jongho probably told you everything at this point. I’m really sorry if I scared you and I understand if you don’t want to be friends anymore.” Even in the dark I could see tears beginning to stream down her cheeks and I felt a pain in my chest.
I got up from Jongho’s hold and wrapped my arms around her, feeling her stiffen, “I trust you, Annabelle.”
Those four words seemed to relax her and she returned my hug, still sniffling, “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. We aren’t supposed to tell anyone and I thought you might hate me—”
I pulled back, “Why the hell would I hate you? You’re still you.”
She laughed through tears, gripping me tighter, thanking me over and over for not pushing her away.
We’re gonna be okay. It’s all gonna be okay.
-
Not too long after, Jongho drove me home. The ride was more silent than when we were headed to Annabelle’s house, but the air wasn’t heavy or uncomfortable. Feeling tired, I laid my head on Jongho’s shoulder, faintly hearing ‘sleep well, baby’ before drifting asleep.
When I woke, I was in my bed. I reached for my phone on the bedside table and found a little note placed next to it that read:
I hope you don’t mind that I carried you inside. I tried to wake you for like five minutes but you were out cold. Anyways, I had a really good time with you yesterday and I hope you had fun too :) Text me when you wake so I know you’re okay. -J
I looked at my clock and saw that it was still early, but I texted Jongho anyway.
Me [3:00am] Not sure if you’re still up, but I really enjoyed yesterday, too. I’m exhausted so I’m gonna go back to sleep but I just wanted to say I’m okay and everything is good :))
A Cute Buffoon [3:00am] Sleep well, darling. We can talk in the morning
-
It had been roughly a month since Jongho and I started dating, and while I felt like I knew him pretty well, we had only known each other a little over a month, on top of the fact that he was a vampire which was essentially an entire separate culture. I’d asked him most questions I had early throughout our relationship, but one in particular kept replaying in my mind.
We were currently sitting on the couch in my apartment, cuddling each other. The TV was on but neither of us were really watching it. I was far more interested in the warm body in front of me, and based off of how Jongho was looking at me, the feeling was mutual.
I bit my lip, anxiously mulling over the question I’d wanted to ask him for weeks. I didn’t know how he would take it, let alone how I would bring it up, but I needed to ask at some point. Knowing he could probably sense my nerves, I gave in. “Jongho, can a human turn into a vampire?”
He hummed, turning to face me. “Why do you ask?”
“I just...I didn’t know if it could happen or not.”
Jongho chuckled, “Yeah it’s possible. It’s a long ass process to go through though, and there’s a lot that can go wrong, so it rarely happens.”
I shifted in my seat, trying not to appear overly interested. “Why is that? What can go wrong?
He smiled and raised a brow, his cocky persona resurfacing, “You sound so eager to know, dear. Do you want to become a vampire?” His eyes briefly flickered towards my lips before he tilted his head, dragging his soft lips across my neck. I let out a gasp when I felt the tips of his teeth lightly scraping the skin, “Or maybe you’re just looking for an excuse for me to put my mouth on you?”
Like with anything that exuded him, I felt myself becoming quickly overwhelmed, my mind now hazy and distant. I shut my eyes in an attempt to gain some semblance of control over myself.
“Your thoughts are swirling, doll.” Jongho began leaving gentle kisses along the side of my jaw, “Don’t think too much. Just let me take care of you. Okay?”
“Okay.” I said through a short breath, knowing we’d just have to have the conversation another time.
We’d had sex before, so it wasn’t like this was new territory for us, but every time felt like the first, leaving me just as out of breath each time.
He lifted me and placed me on his thigh, dragging me across his flexed muscles. I felt my eyes roll back at the simple motion, my need growing at an embarrassing rate. I grabbed his shoulders as I began to drag myself against him, whines and whimpers spilling from my lips.
“God you’re hot,” Jongho said through hot breaths, beginning to kiss my neck, no doubt leaving marks.
“Thanks I try.” I managed to say, pleased when Jongho laughed.
“You don’t even have to, and it’s completely unfair.” His hands moved under my shirt and danced along my skin, “It’s like you’re an angel come to life.”
I let out a loud moan, feeling tears well in my eyes from his praise, “You always make me feel so beautiful when I’m with you.”
Jongho responded with a smile, carrying me to my bedroom and laying me down on the bed while hurriedly discarding both of our clothes.
“You’re always so eager, babe.”
He nuzzled my neck as he climbed on top of me, his hands finding my own and holding them, “As if you’re not.”
“I never said I wasn’t.”
He then moved in between my thighs, teasing me with his fingers as he ran them along my wet slit, occasionally rubbing my clit, drawing small whines from me.
“Jongho please just fuck me already.”
“Sweetheart, do you even think you’re wet enough for me?” He cooed.
Feeling frustrated, I pushed my fingers inside myself with ease, pulling them out and spreading them so he could see my essence dripping down my fingers, “I don’t know you tell me.” I said with far more sass than I intended.
Jongho’s eyes widened at the sight and wasted no time positioning his cock at my entrance, pushing in and letting out the most beautiful groans.
Neither of us ever bothered to use protection because, to put it simply, vampires couldn’t get humans pregnant. It was only possible when both partners were vampires, and we took full advantage of that.
“Fuck—baby you feel amazing. You’re so warm and tight ohmygod.” Jongho moaned as he began to move, thrusting in and out of me at a steady pace.
I clenched around him, loving when he was vocal. His sounds helped get me off just as much as his actions, at times it seemed.
“You feel...really good...too.” I said through heavy breaths. And as much as I wanted to last longer in bed, with Jongho, I never could.
“I don’t know if it’s because you’re a vampire and you’ve got like magic powers or something or maybe you’re just a sex god—but holy shit...I’m close.”
He threw back his head and had the audacity to laugh, something I really couldn’t stay mad at with how good he was making me feel. “Babe it’s been like six minutes.”
“Don’t be an asshole.” I joked, my laugh turning into a moan. It only spurred Jongho on, making him angle one of my legs up higher, hitting deeper inside of me.
“I know you’re close, baby. I can feel it. Cum for me, baby girl. Let go for me.”
He reached down to tease my sensitive nub, drawing quick circles until I was seeing stars, chanting his name like a prayer.
After Jongho came down from his high, he disappeared into the bathroom as he always did, coming back with a warm towel. As he pressed the towel to my thighs I tried to ask again.
“So...about the human to vampire thing?”
“Well,” Jongho sighed, “I didn’t think I’d be able to distract you forever.” He smiled, “It’s mostly done because couples want to stay together. The thing is though, the vampire obviously gets a taste of the human’s blood and it can be hard to stop once you’ve marked them, especially since smell is such a big allure for us.”
He took a long breath, “Then the human will almost always pass out, and needs to be taken care of for the next couple days because they’ll be so weak. Another problem is that the scent of their blood will be amplified during those days and it’ll be harder for the vampire to not, you know...” He looked away, not able to say the words. I knew what he meant, we both did. In some cases, vampires would kill their human partners for of their blood. Sometimes it was beyond their control. Just a primal need that would betray them. “Then their scent is more easily detected by other vampires and the whole thing is just kinda a mess. I think I’ve only heard of five attempts and only one of them was successful.”
I nodded, not really knowing what to say.
“And then on top of it all, it can be harder for the human to adjust and it can put a lot of pressure on the relationship. Human and vampire relationships are dangerous.”
His face was serious as he ran a hand through my hair. I looked up at him and leaned into his touch.
He cleared his throat and averted his eyes, a shy behavior I hadn’t seen from him before, “I guess it’s important for you to decide then.” His eyes met mine again, “Is this still something you want to continue?”
“Our relationship?”
“Yeah.”
“Of course, are you crazy? You mean the world to me.” I swallowed, realizing he hadn’t voiced his own thoughts, “What about you? Do you want this?”
“I think you have a pretty good idea of what I want.” He smiled and pressed a quick kiss to my forehead, his eyes sparkling.
“Hey Jongho?”
He hummed, looking at me.
“I want to spend forever with you.”

⇒ Series: Intro, 1 2 ⇒ My Hero Academia ⇒ Dabi x Reader, Toya Todoroki x Reader ⇒ AU where Toya yoinked Shoto and they ran away from Endeavor’s abuse. Story under cut! (Toya is 16, Shoto is 6) ⇒ Goal: 1.3k words ⇒ Chapter 3 coming soon!! Lmk if you’d like to added to the taglist!! ⇒ Taglist: @ozzy-bozzy @ice-cold-bakugo
Deep in sleep, Toya wakes up to a commotion outside of the hotel room. Opening up the curtains slightly to peak out, he saw the press all trying to get a statement from what he assumes is a Pro-Hero. He moves a bit closer to see who it is, just to see Endeavor’s flames and scowl.
His head turns towards the window which Toya immediately shuts and runs over to Shoto’s side of the bed where their stuff was kept beside him on the floor. He rushed to change into the clothes that you dropped off for him, and he grabbed the burner phone. With shaky hands and a blurred vision, he dials your number while putting on his shoes and slinging all the bags over his shoulders.
You pick up after the 4th ring, your sleepy voice somewhat grounding him. “Toya? What is it? It’s 3am.” You yawned but the hurried shuffles over the phone made you wide alert. “Toya? Is everything okay?” “He’s here, he’s here and I think he saw me.” There was a strain in his voice as a lump rose in his throat. His senses were telling him to calm down, that he needed to escape with Shoto while he still had the chance.
With half a mind, he listened. “He’s at the hotel right now?” Your questions and any form of conversation you were trying to hold with him fell on deaf ears as he carried Shoto down the flight of stairs, and leaving out the emergency side door. Pulling his hood up to cover himself, he waved down a taxi and got in. He told the driver the name of your dorm complex and in a few minutes, he arrived.
“Toya? Please say something!” You were already in your hero outfit, as you fumbled to open your front door. However, it revealed Toya with Sho cradled in his arms. You stare at him in shock, hanging up the phone. “Why did you come here? You guys can’t be here.” He looked at you with pleading eyes. Letting out a sigh, you stepped aside letting him in.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
“You’re lucky that tonight’s the last night I have here in Tokyo.” You grabbed some spare blankets, draping them on the ground to create a makeshift bed for them. “Thank you...” You had already changed back into your pajamas and settled into your own bed. “Goodnight guys, you’re safe here.” You ruffled his ink-black hair before turning off the lights and sleeping.
While you were fast asleep, Toya laid on his back, bringing up his left hand igniting a small blue flame. His scowl ran deep at his quirk before disappearing from the fire. He grabbed your phone, pulling up the recent news broadcast.
Endeavor stood in Tokyo, in front of the hotel they were staying at. He spoke about rumors of his sons being spotted in the area, and he had come to Tokyo to confirm or deny such rumors. But him being that close was enough to send Toya into a panic. Now he was a decent distance from the man. Hiding in your dorm room was the last place he would think of, but he was desperate for any kind of safety.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
6am was the time that you shook Toya and Sho out of their sleep. Although the flight was in a few hours, you grew nervous for your friend and Sho. It wasn’t like you could just bring them on the plane with you. They needed tickets as well, and their passports. But then again, Toya had already brought their passports. Maybe it wasn’t too late to purchase one-trip tickets at the airport.
“Good morning,” You smiled cheerfully to him, sitting down beside him on the floor. “Good morning, are we leaving soon?” He tried to rub the tiredness from his eyes but failing to as he still squinted at you.
“Well not yet, I was hoping we could go to the place early to buy tickets for you two. Do you have enough?” It was a dreadful question since he could lack the money. Then again, his father was the #2 Pro-Hero. “I should...” He trailed off, looking over at Sho who was sitting quietly next to them.
“Alright, let’s get going then! There’s a few food joints in the airport so we can eat breakfast there.” Standing up, you pulled Toya to his feet and helped him clean up the makeshift mattresses. Afterward, you led the boys to the shower room to wash up before you guys headed out, as you did the same.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Pulling aside a taxi, the three of you climbed in, as Sho sat nestled in Toya's lap and he held him. "Do you think he knows?" "Probably. There was no way he didn't see me." Though Toya kept pleading in his mind that Endeavor didn't see him in the hotel window last night. For the sake of his safety and Shoto's.
The driver glanced through the rearview mirror at the boys, then at you. "Where to?'' He asked kindly, though his smile uneased you. "Haneda Airport, please." Returning a smile, you looked down and unlocked your phone. Pulling up the daily news to keep an eye on Endeavor's movements, you started scrolling through. It seems as he stayed the night in Tokyo, so something must've caught his interest. Or someone.
Though you didn't want to worry your friend any more than what he currently was. As the dark shadow under his eyes made you feel guilty. They shouldn't have to deal with this, although Shoto seemed unaware.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
Within half an hour, the three of you made it to Haneda safe and sound. Thanking the driver and paying him off, you led the boys inside the large building. "We'll purchase the tickets first then go and grab something to eat."
Glancing over at Toya, his cerulean eyes weren't focused on anything. He seemed tired or at least emotionally exhausted. In no time, you two were at the reception desk, Shoto messing around with the strings of his gray University hoodie you let him borrow. It was large on him but it still looked cute.
"Two one-way tickets to Seoul, South Korea please." Toya bid the tickets while you were glancing around at the nearby fast food places. Starbucks, A pizza place, McDonald's, all the popular name brands were here as well. Since you wanted a hot drink, you would opt for Starbucks but since they needed to eat, you decided on McDonald's.
Once Toya paid for the tickets, he handed you them to put in your bag. "I'm going to use the bathroom, just order something for me." He waved you off and headed towards the bathroom. You grabbed Sho's hand, "Come on, we're gonna get some food. You know what you want?" He glanced up at you and shook his head.
︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵ ‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵‿︵
"Don't worry, I'll let you order whatever you're interested in." Making your way to the ordering booth, you began tapping away on the screen. "See anything you like?" "Dad?"
You froze up seeing a shadow tower over you. You doubted that he was close enough, but you still felt the heat radiating off of him. Your eyes darted to the time at the bottom left of the screen. Only an hour until your flight was ready to take off.
Slowly you turned around to be faced with none other than Endeavor. His glare burned into you in more ways than one, seeing you in the airport with his youngest son. "Care to explain?" His voice was low enough for only you to hear. Yet, you had the feeling that he wouldn't let you explain. "I-I..." His presence was certainly intimidating.
Your (e/c) eyes darted around behind him, hoping to see Toya. But what would he do? It's not like he could fight his father in a public setting. It also wasn't like Endeavor could harm them in public as well. The most he could do in this scenario was accuse you of kidnapping them and ruin your spotless Hero-in-training record.
There was nothing you could do as he tore Shoto out of your arms. There was nothing you could do as he walked away, eyes full of fury searching for Toya.
 Although, there was one thing you can do.

This was her third phone since first trying to call his number. The first one, she hurled at the wall upon hearing his greeting; the second, she smashed on the ground after listening to him talk for a few moments; this time was the time she would actually talk.
Rose was holding the cellphone in her right hand, the card in her left. Her leg was tapping aggressively as she sat on the couch in her apartment, her thumb hovering over the dial button.
God, how did this happen. Why did this happen. She was supposed to kill him, and now she’s just hitting him up. Standing up off the couch with a noise of effort, she finally gathered the courage to hit the dial button.
When Gambit picked up, she blurted out what was at the front of her mind as fast as possible.
“What did you do to me.”
Gambit got yet another phone call. Usually he didn't get them since he changes phones often to maintain anonymity, despite being an attention hog.
He picked up his phone, and before he could offer a sultry "hellohello~" he was cut off.
He was stunned silent for a moment.
"I, uh... I'm sorry, who is dis? Yer gonna hafta be more specific, I've done lotsa things to lotsa people."
He said nonchalantly as he crossed his leg over the other and leaned back in the chair he was sitting in. The voice sounded familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. He pouted in thought, face scrunched up as he tried to remember.
Rose bit her lip and held the cellphone away from her as she stomped her paw on the ground angrily. She then pulled the phone back to her ear, forcing herself to respond.
“I- I can’t… get you out of my head, you bastard, what did you do?!”
With that line, it clicked. Gambit smiled widely as his face flushed. He grabbed a card from the table and flipped it between his fingers happily. He didn't want to expose that he knew it was her though, otherwise she might hang up.
"Woooaah, no need to be hostile. Jus' looks like I've caught somebody’s eye."
He said, the smirk practically evident in his tone.
Rose rolled her eyes as if he could see her. “Yeah, no shit Sherlock, I can’t do anything without thinking of you.” She blurted, her mouth moving faster than her brain could keep up with. If it was any other circumstance, she probably would’ve been able to tell from the tone in his voice that he knew who she was, but her judgement was clouded. He had that affect on her, and she absolutely hated it.
"Sadly, I'm unable to help with dat predicament. Howeva', I will say dat I'm in a similar boat myself. You've been runnin' through my mind too, mon petit minou.”
Gambit lowered his voice slightly as his words gained more and more genuine feeling and his face grew redder. He continued to absentmindedly flick the card through his fingers, when he caught himself wishing her fingers were entangled with his. He dropped the card at that sudden thought and shook his head. Clear the thoughts, like rolling a dice.
Fuck. It took all of Rose’s strength and then some not to just crush the phone, or hurl it at the wall like she’d done to one of the other phones. She could feel her heart speeding up and a purr catch in her throat and she desperately tried to swallow it before speaking again; she knew if she tried to talk, her voice would merely be a squeak. She held the phone away from her face again as she drew a long breath, calming herself as much as possible before she spoke again.
“When can I see you again.” She asked—though it sounded more like a demand—her voice low as her tail thrashed back and forth behind her.
"Excusez-moi?"
Gambit said, more shocked than anything.
She wanted to see him again.
She wanted to see him again.
He bit his lip to stifle a cry of joy. Instead he hit the air a couple times, as though he were hitting an invisible punching bag. He brought the phone back up to his face and picked up the card, still flipping it wildly.
“You heard me!” Rose barked, forcing herself to keep from shouting; her neighbors had to deal with enough loudness from her as is. “I need to hit you or something.” She growled, making a face as she said it.
Gambit sat in silence for a moment, thinking. He tapped his chin with the card before speaking again.
"Well, I've got a lil’ somethin' tonight. Bank heist, nuthin' special. De one dats near de casino, can't miss it. Dere’s a lotta alleyways, find one ‘n I'll meet ya dere."
He said with a smile at his own brilliant idea. It wasn't that brilliant at all but he only cared about having her attention.
Rose flipped shut her cellphone, staring into space for a few moments. What the hell did she get herself into. Why did she have such a tendency to get roped into things against her will.
Oh well, it gave her something to do. She hung her head with a long sigh, slipping her cellphone into her back pocket and throwing on her jacket before heading out.
———
It wasn’t hard to miss him, the flashy bastard. Rose scrunched her nose. What kind of thief did he think he was? And how in god’s name had he not been caught yet?
Shaking her head as she walked towards him, her breathing shook slightly before she took a longer breath, not even giving him to time to get half his greeting out before she socked him in the face.
"Oh hel-"
Remy stumbled back as she punched him, holding a hand to his already bleeding nose.
"Straight to de point, are we? A’ight, let's see whatcha got."
He said with a smirk despite already looking beaten. He brought out his deck of cards and set them aflame with energy, tossing them down at his opponent.
Rose bared her teeth, growling lowly as she leapt backwards to dodge. She then jumped up to grab Gambit’s ankle, slamming him back down to the ground.
“Uh-uh. No mutation bullshit. Hand-to-hand or I’m leaving.” She said, a smirk tugging at the sides of her face for once.
"W’uh oh."
Gambit muttered after he recovered from being slammed to the ground. He was strong, but he wasn't Wolverine type strong. In fact, he was scared Rose was going to snap him like a toothpick.
He put the rest of his cards in his pocket and raised his fists more or less nervously. He didn't want to hit her, but he also didn't feel like being beaten half to death. In the time it took him to think about his options, he had already been punched in the jaw, sending him flying.
"You've got a mean swing-"
He was going to say something quippy when she attacked again.
“Thanks.” Rose responded half-sarcastically before throwing another hit at Gambit then backing off to defend. Her grin was evident now.
“Don’t worry about hitting me, cher. I’m not a girl, you don’t gotta worry about breaking your code of honor or whatever the fuck.” She jeered, her tail already thrashing as she waited for her opponent to make a move.
Gambit’s eyes widened at that. Cher. His face flushed a bright red and he was forever grateful that it was so dimly lit. But, wait, if Rose was a cat, couldn't she see in the dark? Gambit didn't have time to answer his own question. He sat up and wiped the blood from his face.
"A’ight then, note to self, don't underestimate de angel.”
He smirked before rushing to try and tackle her. He knew he weighed more than her, but she was faster, she dodged and he fell to the ground.
He quickly sat up and went to swing at her face, although it was dark so he couldn't see much; he was more likely to hit a wall than her.
Rose grunted as Gambit’s fist collided with her shoulder, sending her tumbling to the left before she rolled over into a crouching position.
“More like a demon if you ask me.” She muttered under her breath, giving no context before standing up and pacing back towards him, throwing an uppercut at his chin.
Gambit was thrown backwards, obviously tired but stubborn as ever. He held himself against the wall, face bruised and red with blood and blush.
“Oh petit ange, can’t you see your wings and divine figure? How could you be a demon?”
He asked with genuine curiosity, expression slightly sad that she thought of herself that way.
Rose stood still, other than her form heaving slightly from being tired, as she stared at Gambit with an unreadable expression. She then looked down at her hands, her knuckles darkened from the repeated impacts and slightly stained with blood. Her eyes widened a little before she looked back at Gambit, now holding a completely different exterior.
A defense mechanism.
“Can’t you tell? Do I need to beat you up even more? I will.” She pressed jokingly to deflect from having to tell the truth. They’d be there all night if she explained all the reasons why she felt that way, and frankly, she’d probably kill him before she’d finish.
"Doin' bad things don't make you a bad person. Just like doin' good things doesn't make you a good one."
Gambit said between pants. He was still trying to catch his breath.
"You can beat me up more, if you wanna."
He said genuinely, his expression slightly saddened. There seemed to be so much more to her than he first thought. Kinda like him.
He held his hands up and walked to Rose, showing defeat. When he stumbled close enough, he grabbed something from his pocket and gently and slowly wrapped one of her hands in his, placing whatever he had in her palm. He spoke softly, still holding her hand.
"I think you're de closest thing to an angel I've ever seen."
He said softly, his eyes averted and face flushed.
Rose’s eyes widened and her face tinted red. She stayed still for a few moments before yanking her hand away, turning away and trying to use the collar of her jacket to conceal her blush.
That felt so nice. Why did that feel so nice. Why was he being nice to her.
Her head was clouded and fuzzy with thoughts that didn’t quite feel like her own as she slowly and tentatively opened her palm to look at what he’d given her.
Gambit took a deep breath and put his hands in his pockets. He turned to walk out of the alleyway, talking back at Rose on his way out.
"Don't let de cops see it. But I have a feelin' you avoid cops anyway, so."
When he made it to the sidewalk, he twirled back to Rose and bowed at her dramatically before walking away.
As he walked back to whatever place he was staying for the week, he thought about how he’d given the most expensive piece of jewelry away to impress someone. His "father" would have lectured him til his ears bled.
Gambit escaped him and he still has moments that remind him of his "dad" but he was free now.
He smiled softly at imagining her wearing that necklace as he walked back to his abode happily.
Rose couldn’t find the words to respond to Gambit when he said his goodbyes. She sent a look back at him before looking at what he’d put in her palm.
What she found was a diamond necklace and yet another card he’d written on, but this time it said ‘same time same place next week?’
It was subconscious, it was genuine, and she forced herself to stop when she realized; but for a moment, she was smiling.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My apartment had been trashed, everything torn up and thrown all over the place. Sam stayed with me for two hours, scoping it out and making sure everything was back in its place.
Nothing of mines was taken. It just looked like someone broke in to make a mess and leave.
Sam believed it was vamp. I wasn’t sure what to think.
After barely getting any sleep, I wasn’t too excited to go to work. But at least I would be surrounded by people and not by myself, left alone to think of what could have broken in.
I filled Ronnie in on some of my crazy adventures from the past two-ish days.
“How is it you have all the fun on your days off?” Ronnie whined, cleaning a glass.
I scoffed. “I highly doubt getting almost killed by a vampire, and then having one break into my place ‘fun’, Ronnie.”
“At least it’s more interesting than me laying around and watching Real Housewives.” She joked. “So, all of these guys work at Trapp Haus and that’s how you met them?”
I nodded. “Yeah. Got my own connection which is how I was able to skip the line that usually wraps around the whole block.”
“I swear I’ve never heard of any of them before. Are they all bartenders or something?” She asked, starting a new order.
“Um, I think some of them are.” I lied. “One or two might work in the business side of the place, since they’re vamps.”
“I’ll have to go there next human night. Colby sounds pretty hot.” Ronnie smirked.
“I mean he is, but he’s kinda a dick.” I huffed.
“Well, all the hot ones are. Besides, he does have a soft side: he did save you.”
“I guess so…”
The night moved slowly, not too many patrons on a Sunday-Monday evening. I was so happy to finally have my break, being able to step outside and get some fresh air.
I took a deep breath as I looked up into the night sky.
What the fuck had my life turn into?
I shook my head, leaning my back against the brick wall of the bar. I stared into the parking lot, my eyes fixating on the dark. Through the trees that surrounded the lot, I saw the outline of a man.
I squinted my eyes, trying to see if I was seeing things. The figured disappeared as I blinked. I relaxed a little, annoyed at my own paranoia.
Maybe I am going crazy…
I stood up and went to walk back in. As I went to open the door, I heard a low growl come from behind me.
The hair on the back of my neck shot up. I could feel a presence behind me. I didn’t want to turn around, but I knew I had to. I twisted around slowly, my heartbeat speeding up faster and faster.
Nothing was behind me.
I looked around, my anxiety still at its peak. I knew I heard something; but nothing, no one, was there.
I spun back around. A man stood in front of the door. All I could see of him was his glowing red eyes and shiny fangs. He jumped forward with his hands reaching for my neck. A scream ripped from my throat.
I fell to the ground with a loud thump. He was no longer around me, I was alone once again. I scrambled back onto my feet, glancing hastily at the parking lot. I heard a dark chuckle come from the darkness. My eyes widen as I yanked the door opened and slammed it shut, locking it tight. I leaned my back against the door, trying to catch my breath.
He reminded me of someone, but I couldn’t think of who.
I ran to Roger’s office, needing an answer. There was a drawer in his desk, where all the receipts were kept from every night. Roger was very meticulous about it. I grabbed the folder from the previous night I worked. I flipped through all of them until I landed on the one I knew it had to be.
Cyrus Gladstone.
He was Blondie’s… Jasper’s… friend. He knew.
Jasper was dead. And he knew I was the one that got him killed.
Fuck.
I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket, dialing the only number I knew could help me.
“Sam… I need you again.”
~ \/ \/ ~
"How many tips did you make tonight?" I asked, counting out mine again.
Ronnie sighed. "About $20. You?"
"$35." I muttered.
"Ugh, that's not fair. I swear, your blood must smell like a fucking bakery with how many tips you get." She laughed.
"Ain't I lucky." I hissed jokingly.
The door to the bar rang open. Both Ronnie and I sighed. "Sorry, we're closed."
"I'm not here for a drink." A deep voice replied, stepping around the corner.
I turned to face the voice and realized who it was. "Colby..."
"That's Colby?" Ronnie exclaimed quietly. She leaned closer to my ear. "Holy shit he's hot."
"Shhh." I elbowed her lightly, turning back to Colby. "Uh, hey. Are you here to escort me home?"
"Actually, I'm taking you back to our place.” He informed, his hands sliding into his pockets.
I raised my eyebrows at him. "Oh? Okay."
"I'll see you later, Jade. Have fun." Ronnie mumbled, smirking at me and walking to the back to grab her stuff.
"Uh, let's head out." I nodded my head at Colby, slinging my bag over me.
As we walked into the parking lot, Colby stopped me. "Are we really gonna take your car to the club? It's only a couple blocks down."
I scoffed. "I'm sorry... what do you expect me to do? I can't leave my car here."
"Running would be faster." He stated.
"If I was also a vampire." I fumed.
Colby growled, his fangs prominent. "I could turn you into one."
"Shut up and just get in my car." I retorted.
I opened my car door and slid into the seat. Colby stood in the parking lot, glaring at me.
"Are you getting in or not?" I huffed.
He didn't respond.
Who pissed in his Cheerios today?
I rolled my eyes, driving away. "Whatever. I'll meet you back at the Trapp Haus."
I glanced at my rear view mirror, seeing Colby was already gone. I drove, the streets being close to empty since it was so late. I finally got to the Trapp Haus, pulling into the parking lot. Colby had his back rested against the entrance, scrolling through his phone.
I alarmed my car and strolled up to him. "Why exactly am I here?"
"Sam wanted to talk with me and you. That's all he's told me." He remarked. I followed him up the apartment. Walking in, Sam sat on one of the couches, looking up at us.
"Oh good, I was wondering when you were getting here." Sam spoke, smiling.
"So... what do you gotta tell us?" Colby asked.
"Well, I think we have all concluded that Cyrus is after you because of Jasper's death.” Sam admitted.
I nodded my head. “Yeah.”
“He's most likely the person that broke into your apartment. He's trying to get inside your head. Make you feel uncomfortable and nervous.” Sam responded, stepping towards us.
“So, he's playing with his food?” Colby smirked.
Sam and I both glared at him. “Colby... really?”
His lips folded into a tight line. “Sorry.”
Sam sighed. “Anyway, because of this, I want you to stay here until we can hunt him down and kill him.”
“What?” Colby questioned, his arms crossing.
“Dude, let's be honest here. She's not safe. And unless you want to stand guard at her place until he comes a-knocking, it would just be better if she was here.” Sam argued, turning to Colby.
“No, it wouldn't.” Colby grabbed Sam’s arm, pulling him away from me. “Don't you think we've done enough?”
“How?” Sam inquired.
“How are we gonna find where he is? Unless he's living in LA, which may not be the case, he could be anywhere. Are you expecting me to run around the whole fucking city looking for him?” Colby ranted, his voice deep.
Sam scoffed. “What else are we supposed to do? Leave Jade for dead?”
“Yes! We've already done enough. We’ve never gone this far for someone unless they're family. And she's not.”
My heart dropped as Colby's eyes landed on me. They were cold. Unfriendly.
“We can't leave her now. I won't leave her now.” Sam objected.
“We don't even know if he's hunting her. He could just be dicking around.” Colby hissed.
“Or he could be hunting her. We don't know Jasper and Cyrus’ relationship. If someone killed me, you would hunt them down.” Sam stated.
Colby paused for a second, rolling his eyes. “Fine. But how long is she gonna be here?”
“Until you find out where he is.” Sam smirked.
Colby groaned. “Do you wanna give me a clue as to where he could be?”
“Mike talked to a couple of his buddies on the south side. Apparently that where he likes to hang out at. So, snoop around, see what comes up.” Sam replied. He then turned to me. “Jade?”
I cleared my throat. “Yeah?”
“You're gonna sleep in my room until this is all sorted out.” He explained.
I stammered. “No. I can sleep-”
Sam cut me off. “I insist. Besides, it won't be the first time I've fallen asleep on the couch. I'm gonna go get you some clothes to change into. Tomorrow I'll head over with you to your place and we'll pick up some of your stuff.”
I smiled lightly. “Okay.”
Sam left to go into his room. I stared at Colby as he sat down on the couch, sighing deeply.
I stepped over to him, staying a few feet away.
He finally glanced up at me. "What?"
"You really hate me that much." I knew it was true.
My eyes never left his. He just looked at me with an almost sad glimmer.
"Jade?" Sam called.
"Coming." I answered, turning my head away from Colby.
In The Dark || Tom Holland x Reader
Tumblr media
a/n: this came from three things- my drive home from university (yay spring break), hozier’s new album, and those pictures of tom in That Jacket. also this is lowkey a love letter to my first car, miss u bud. I didn’t include a destination because they can be going anywhere you want :)
Summary: a road trip with your boyfriend doesn’t exactly go as planned
Warnings: swearing, okay there’s like one (1) mention of a blowjob, just a whole bunch of f l u f f
Word Count: 1.4k
Masterlist
“I see them, Tom!” you said with as much composure as you could muster. You knew he was only warning you about the car braking in front of you to be helpful, but his backseat driving was getting a little on your nerves after three hours in the car together.
He didn’t drive much himself, so every time he tried to offer advice you were more than a little hesitant to take it. To be fair, your squinting at the dark road in front of you was enough to make anyone nervous, but it wasn’t your fault you were in the middle of nowhere and your car’s headlights were so dim.
A road trip had seemed like such a good idea a few hours ago when the sun was setting beautifully behind the trees and you were both listening to Wasteland, Baby! for the first time. Now three loops through the album later your muscles were beginning to ache and your eyes started feeling strained and your attitude was less than chipper.
“Sorry, love,” he apologized with a grin, taking your right hand and kissing your knuckles. He held your hand on his lap and you began to relax as he rubbed circles on it with his thumb. “Just trying to help.”
You sighed. “I know, I’m sorry. I’m just tense.”
“We can take a break if you want,” he offered.
“No, we’ve only got like an hour left,” you insisted, rolling your neck. “I’ll be fine.”
He nodded and relaxed further in his seat, keeping your hand in his. He shuffled the music on his phone and turned up the volume when it landed on some 80s pop hit and you turned your attention back to the cars in front of you.
It was so hard to focus on the road and not on him. Not when the light from his phone highlighted the tiny freckles on his face, and his hair was so curly and dark from winter and he was wearing that soft sherpa denim jacket that you were set on stealing. It was unfair, really.
You zoned out as traffic thinned around you and the warmth from Tom’s hand spread through your fingers and up your arm, not even noticing the first few times your headlights flickered until they went out for a prolonged few seconds before sputtering back on.
Tom sat up. “Love,”
“I see it,” you said, without frustration this time. You narrowed your eyes at the road even more and watched as the shadows on the road slipped into complete inkiness in rhythm with the flickering of your headlights.
“Should we pull over?” Tom asked hesitantly.
“I don’t know, there isn’t anything but road for miles.” Then, without further warning your headlights went out. And they didn’t come back on. You kept waiting, slowing on the freeway until you were going thirty under, willing them to come back on, but they’d given out for good this time.
“Come on, y/n, this is dangerous, just pull over,” Tom said again, squeezing your hand.
You sighed bitterly and pulled onto the shoulder of the road by a fence overlooking a field.
“This is fucking fantastic,” you complained, feeling tears well up in your eyes. You were so tired, you just wanted to curl up in bed and go to sleep, but you still had at least fifty miles to go before you’d even get to, and who knew how long you’d be out here.
“It’ll be alright,” he said soothingly. “We should call, um, what is it you guys have over here?”
“Triple A,” you groaned and pulled out your phone.
“Want me to do it?” Tom asked, knowing how much you hated making phone calls.
“You’d do that?”
“Of course,” he said and winked at you. “Anything for you.”
You watched Tom dial the number and put the phone up to his ear and listened in as he started talking to the guy on the other end like he’d known him his entire life. You always forgot how charismatic and charming Tom could be when he wanted, not that he wasn’t with you, it was just different.
“Yeah, it’s both headlights,” he said and waited for the other guy’s response. “Where are we?” he asked.
“In between exits 435 and 439.”
Tom repeated what you’d just said to the guy on the phone. “Okay, great. Thanks. See you then.” He turned back to you with a grimace. “He said they’ll be out here in about two hours.”
“Two hours?” you repeated, instantly tearing up again.
“Yeah, I guess wherever they’re located is pretty far, but they’re on their way. He also said since both lights are out it’s probably a battery problem and we should turn off the car.”
You put your head in your hands and tried to take deep breaths. “We were so close.”
“We’ll still get to the Airbnb by tonight, we can just text the owners about what’s happening. I’m sure they’ll understand.” Tom, always the rational one, said soothingly.
“I know, you’re right. This just fucking sucks!” You put your car in park and turned off the ignition.
“It does,” he agreed softly.
It was eerily silent now that the engine was off and music wasn’t playing. Instead, you could hear crickets chirping in the distance and Tom’s steady breathing beside you.
You figured you might as well take advantage of the break, however inconvenient, so you opened the door and stepped out onto the gravel to stretch your legs.
“Y/n, where are you going?” Tom called after you in concern. “This is a good place to get murdered.”
“This is a good place to dump a body,” you corrected him, which didn’t erase the worry on his face at all. If anything, it only increased it. “Don’t worry, I’m not going far.”
You stretched your arms and legs each for a few seconds before jumping up on the hood of your car, sticking your tongue out at Tom through the windshield, making him laugh. He wasn’t far behind you once he saw what you were doing and hopped up on the hood next to you.
The car shook under his weight as he slid next to you, sliding and arm underneath your head as you leaned back against the windshield together. And it was nice for a second before you remembered you still had about an hour and fifty-three minutes before you could go anywhere.
“Fuck me,” you cursed under your breath and banged a fist on the hood of your car in frustration.
“Hey, be nice to Edison,” Tom protested and you laughed at him calling your car by name. “I’m serious! He doesn’t deserve that!”
“He stranded us in the middle of nowhere!”
“Don’t people always say it’s the journey, not the destination?”
“Does it count as part of the journey if you’re not moving?” you asked.
“God you’re so bitter about everything, you’re lucky I love you.”
“I guess I am lucky.” You shrugged and rested your head on Tom’s shoulder.
“This is the part where you say you love me back.”
“Right, that too,” you said with a smirk and kissed him chastely on the lips.
With no light from civilization to pollute the atmosphere, the stars above you shone at their full capacity. You raised your free arm and started to point out constellations to Tom. You were mostly making them up, but he listened anyway, and laughed when you traced one you called ‘Orion’s Strap’ and again when you tried to convince him the group of stars to the left were actually a constellation of a cat.
After that you passed the time by listening to more music from his phone. He sang Almost (Sweet Music), your favorite from Hozier’s new album, word for word softly in your ear, and if you weren’t stranded in the middle of nowhere where traffic could pass at any moment, you would have blown him right then and there. You played with each other’s hair idly and Tom told you about the strange dreams he had last night. Stubbornly, you found yourself not wanting Triple A to show up just yet. You sighed deeply, regretting how bitter you had been earlier.
Tom turned his head towards you at the sound. “You okay, love?”
“Yeah,” you smiled at him, positive you looked as goofy and lovestruck as ever. “I’m okay.” I’m more than okay.
Tom just smiled back, taking your hand back in his like it had been earlier, before all of this, kissing your knuckles again like he had. You rested your other hand on the hood of your car, admitting to yourself that yeah, this was part of the journey. And yeah, it wasn’t too bad. Thanks Edison.
yooo that was sappy as fuck who am I, but uh lmk what you thought I always appreciate feedback
There For You
Tumblr media
PART TWO
Pairing: Luke Hemmings x Reader
Warnings: Swearing
Word Count: 2,340
Summary: angst, angst, angst
A/N: maybe a part 2?? idk lmk
     Four years. Four years of laughter. Four years of tears. Four years of love. You had known Luke Hemmings for four years, meeting through a mutual friend. In those four years Luke and you had become inseparable. You guys were the annoying best friends who did everything together. Through thick and thin you guys were there for each other. Until one day.
The Laughter
     Nothing beat the feeling you had when it was just you and Luke, cruising around in the car. Singing along to everything and anything that came on the radio. The beginning chords of My Humps came through the speakers. Luke’s hand immediately going to the volume dial and turning it all the way to the right. You thought the speakers were going to blow from how loud Luke had the volume, but the look on his face said he couldn’t honestly care less. He was acting like a complete fool, the biggest smile on his face while he was belting out the lyrics. You couldn’t help but giggle at him, but as soon as he heard the laughter that escaped your lips his head whipped around to face you. He then realized he was driving and put his eyes back on the road. “Were you laughing at me?” He asked, slightly eyeing you. He was trying to be serious, but you both knew in a matter of seconds, you’d both be in a fit of giggles. “No, I was laughing with you!” Your giggles only getting more prominent. In reality, this situation was not really that funny, but to you two, it was more than funny. That’s one of the reasons you and Luke got along so well. Your sense of humor was the same, sure it wasn’t the best sense of humor, but to you two, you guys could be comedians. The song was long over and Luke’s singing had stopped, but you two were laughing so hard your stomach’s were starting to hurt. Once the two of you had settled down you heard Luke giggle slightly before speaking. “You know we were basically laughing at nothing.”
The Tears
     It was a usual Thursday night, you had just gotten home from work and all you wanted to do was sit your ass on the couch and watch re-runs of The Office. You were about halfway through the first episode when your phone dinged. Picking it up from the unoccupied couch cushion next to you, you saw Luke’s name displayed on the screen. Your eyes scanned the text, reading those three little words. I need you. You typed out a response as you got up off the couch, slipping on some shoes and grabbing your keys, heading out the door. It was dark by the time you got to Luke’s, the house was asleep, not one single window had a yellow glow to it. Walking up to the front door you tried to prepare yourself for what state Luke could be in. You had your key ready, but the door was unlocked. You made a mental note to scold Luke for leaving his door unlocked, later though. The house was pitch black, you reached for the light switch near the door. You heard the tapping of nails on the hardwood floors. Petunia was at your feet in a matter of seconds wanting attention. You knelt down, giving her some pets before making your way upstairs to find Luke. As you got closer to Luke’s room you could hear faint sniffles and your heart broke more and more as you got closer. Pushing open the door you called out Luke’s name faintly, he was laying on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. The TV the only source of light in the room. You made your way to the bed, taking a seat next to him. Before you could even say anything he was grabbing a hold of you, burying his face in your neck, sobbing. You hated seeing your best friend like this. You ran your hand through his hair, trying to comfort him.
     “Lu, you gotta tell me what’s wrong.” You said, pulling back slightly to look at him. His bright blue eyes were no longer bright and they were bloodshot beyond belief. He looked like a mess, granted, right now he was a mess. After a few more minutes of him crying and you rubbing his back, he finally muttered out some words, ones you weren’t entirely to surprised to hear. “It’s over, for good.” You knew Luke’s relationship had been messy. This wasn’t the first time you had been over at Luke’s, comforting him after they had a big blow up. You wanted to make her out to be the bad person, but Luke had the tendency to leave out details when explaining what had happened, more so he wouldn’t look like a complete ass. So you took everything with a grain of salt. Luke was no angel and you knew that, but he was your best friend. So you were going to do what best friends do, be there for one another. “Who ended it?” There was no response, only him gripping onto you tighter. “Okay, we don’t have to talk about it right now.” Somehow you were able to maneuver yourself on the bed so that you were leaning against the headboard, Luke cuddling into your side. Your hand finding its way back to his hair, running your fingers through it. “Thank you. I love you.”
The Love
     There had always been that little voice inside your head that questioned your true feelings towards Luke. He was attractive, talented, and you guys clicked so well, so why wouldn’t you have feelings for him? There were times where you did wonder what would happen if you guys weren’t best friends, if you guys were lovers. You always pushed those thoughts aside, not really thinking too much into it. Nothing finding someone else to replace those thoughts with wouldn’t fix. You had been on quite the dry spell when it came to relationships. Sure, you had the occasional hook up, but you hadn’t been in a serious relationship in years. Tonight though that was all going to hopefully change. You had a date with some cute guy you met at the cafe down the street from your apartment. He seemed nice enough and he was quite the charmer, so you agreed to go on a date with him. The closet doors were wide open and you were standing there, trying to figure out what to wear. Cardi B was playing through your phone, you were hoping she could hype you up before the date. You got ready and met the guy at guy at a cute little Italian place down the street.
     So far the date was going great, he was a gentleman and he could make you laugh. What more could you ask for? Then he started to fidget, your eyes traveled down to his hands. He was playing with the rings on his fingers. Your mind instantly went to the person who always played with the rings on their fingers. Luke. Now all you could think about was Luke. How you two would be joking about the names of some of the dishes on the menu. How you two would honestly never go here. How he would look at you with those pretty blue eyes from across the table and you would be putty in his hand. How the guy sitting across from you wasn’t Luke and how badly you wanted it to be him. You don’t know why it took you so long, but there in that boujee Italian restaurant, while you were on a date with someone else. You realized you loved Luke. Not like a best friend love, a romantic love. You wanted to be his source of happiness, his world, his love.
     Now a couple months later, that realization was the source of your sadness. Luke had gone off and found someone else, someone prettier, someone who wasn’t you. The only person who knew about your feelings was Calum. Calum had also convinced you to come to their show tonight. You hadn’t seen Luke in around a month and the thought of seeing him tonight made you feel sick. But you wanted to show support for your friends, so you sucked it up. So now here you were sitting backstage with the boys, minus Luke, and you realized how much you missed hanging out with them. You had some of your greatest memories with them. The night was going pretty well and you were honestly glad you came. The boys' performance was amazing as usual and as they made their way backstage you were approached by Luke for the first time that night. He had a post performance glow and he honestly looked amazing. “Hey stranger, I haven’t seen you in awhile.” He still had that stupid charm to him. “Yeah, been busy with work.” You lied. “I’ve missed you.” He said, his arm reaching out to touch you, but you took a step back. He gave you a questioning look. but moved on. Now you just wanted to leave. You gave the rest of the boys a job well done and some hugs before making your way to the exit. You had almost made it out the door when someone grabbed your arm, pulling you into the dressing room. You knew those curly locks anywhere and right now you wanted out of this room.
     “Luke, what do you want? I need to get back home!” I was becoming annoyed. “I haven’t seen you in months and you are acting super strange. What’s up with you?” He took a seat on one of the couches and began to play with his rings. Those stupid fucking rings. You wanted to reach over and rip them off his hands and throw them away. You still stood by the door, ready to bolt. “Y/N.” His eyes bored into mine, you couldn’t resist him. Sighing you took a seat in the chair across from him, he always knew how to get his way. “Nothing is wrong Luke, I’ve just been super busy with work and some other stuff.” He pursed his lips, I knew he wasn’t buying it. “Bullshit. I think you're forgetting that I’m your best friend. I know when you’re lying and I know work hasn’t been busy at all. Don’t think I see your stories about how dead work is? I’ve texted you about hanging out and no response. So now really tell me what it is.” In that moment you wish you had some rings to fiddle with. “I can’t.” He leaned forward, his arms resting on his thighs. “What do you mean you can’t? I’m your best friend, we tell each other everything.” You could feel the tears starting to form, the lump in your throat already there. “I just can’t Lu.” Your heart ached as the nickname slipped past your lips, guess old habits do die hard. “Fine, I’ll wait until you’re ready to tell me.”
     The two of you sat there in silence for what seemed like forever, but in reality it was around fifteen minutes. Luke was stubborn and so were you. A hard knock on the door made both of your heads whip towards the door. Curly brown locks peaked into the room. “Hey, Luke we’re leaving soon.” When Calum spotted you his eyes widened, but he said nothing, just closed the door. “Your final chance to tell me Y/N.” You never wanted any of this to happen. Why couldn’t things go back to normal, why did you have to ruin everything? Why did you have to be so utterly in love with him? He had gotten up off the couch at this point and started to make his way towards the door. Fuck it. You had nothing to lose at this point. “I love you.” Your eyes immediately closing, not want to see his reaction. “Y/N, I love you too.” You opened your eyes, he was now standing in front of you. “No. Luke I love you. Like love love.” The tears had finally escaped your eyes and were running down your face. He just stared at you. You shouldn’t have even said anything. Grabbing your purse you made a beeline for the door, but Luke stood in your way. “Luke let me leave!” He pushed you back, to sit back in the chair. “Why are you telling me this now?” He was angry. “I don’t fucking know Luke! You were the one that dragged me in here and interrogated me. I was sick of having it all bottled up inside me.” His hands were running through his hair.
     “How long?” Your face was beat red and you knew there was mascara running down your face. “A couple months. Ever since I went on that date with that guy. I realized I wanted you.” I stood back up from the chair. “Well, I have a girlfriend now.” I chuckled at his statement, like I didn’t know that. “No shit Lucas. If you were single I would have come over that night and told you, but no. That same night you were out with her. It literally crushes me seeing you with her. That should fucking be me Luke! It should be me. You should have been the guy with me at the stupid Italian restaurant. Not some guy that was like you! We’ve been there for each other for everything! It’s supposed to be you and me, not you and her, Lu.” Your throat hurt from yelling and your tears blurred your vision. You didn’t even look at him as you grabbed your stuff and walked out the door. Opening the door you saw the rest of the boys standing there. They undoubtedly heard the entire fight. Calum tried to comfort you, but all you wanted was to be alone. As you were walking towards your car you heard Luke yell your name, but you ignored it, getting into your car and driving off.
