Oh hey, the system requirements for BG3 got updated: The game now needs to be installed on a SSD, even under minimum requirements.

Edit after release: The game is playable even on a HDD, I can confirm this myself. There even is a setting to compensate for the lack of reading speed (although some textures still take some time to load sometimes). In their launch preparation post Larian say they "highly recommend" playing with a SSD, though. I am very glad it's not a hard requirement!

I’ve already mentioned some of this but I finally have enough to flesh this out a little. I’ve been working under the theory that Suppalo/the curse/Chadok is the sun, Akk is working directly under the influence of it, Ayan is the moon.

I’ve also talked about power and control in relation to Namo but let’s talk about it now with the curse as well. The legend is that the curse becomes stronger closer to the eclipse, that the eclipse is the time that people need to stay in line more than ever. 

During an eclipse, when the moon covers the sun the sun’s influence is reduced. So if control over the students is through the sun, the moon covering it would mean the loss on control.

Of course it’s during the moment of least control is when you would want the fear of unknown consequences to keep people in line when you can’t exert direct control, when your influence and power over them is weakened.

Now look at this post by @25shadesoffebruary​ about how the eclipse is happening in this moment when Ayan leans into Akk. And it happens over and over this episode. It keeps on happening every time Ayan and Akk get close (before this episode too!)

But now look at Chadok when he confronts Akk in the school at night.

He stands in the light in a way that it basically seems to be emanating from him, completely engulfing Akk in its shadow. He reminds Akk of his responsibilities and adds in a sprinkle of fear in the form of a scholarship - if you don’t do what I expect of you, you lose the scholarship. He’s using fear to maintain his influence.

And it works

Look at the light basically on top of Akk’s head during the judo takedown when Akk is trying to push Ayan away as much as he can. He’s back in prefect mode (shortly before he tries to get Ayan to leave the school, even threatening to bring the curse back)

And here’s the placement of the same light in the same room when they were practicing judo alone a few episodes ago.

Usually when they’re close to each other, Akk pulls Ayan in and covers the light. But right now, the light is looming directly over him.

Akk is under the control of the light (Chadok) trying to resist the pull of the eclipse.

Also, Akk, the morning after he was cornered by Dika, sleeping in the direct sun under the comfort of a blanket covered in stars. Like the night could be a source of comfort against the stress he’s under with the light.

Bonus: Akk being protected from the sun by the starry blanket and the eclipse sweatshirt

And after Ayan spends some time taking care of him when he’s sick? He wakes up tended for, being protected from the sun by the stars and and eclipse right over his chest.

Stede playing with Ed’s hair in some way. Whether that’s just simple twirling, intricate braiding, or delicate washing, I want those salt and pepper touches.

The two of them waking up in bed together- preferably shirtless for additional implications, or tangled up together. Or both.

Along those lines, any sort of cuddling. Snuggling up on deck, embracing as they fall asleep, holding each other through bad moments, or spooning during lazy mornings.

Stede massaging Ed’s bad knee, whether it be idly during soft conversation, or the purposeful focus of a scene.

Any and all sorts of kisses. Kisses on the mouth of course, but give me forehead kisses, cheek kisses, tip of the nose kisses, hand kisses, wrist kisses, neck kisses...

And for kissing specifics, a kiss that Stede initiates, and a kiss they can take their time with. The former to complete the circle, and the latter for them to drown in both relief and love.

Them hugging in an organic way and not just a “I’ve stabbed you, you nut” way.

Having a soft and quiet moment together when they’re rebuilding their relationship. Maybe a stargaze on deck late at night, or a beautiful respite right at dawn. The conversations are vulnerable, the air is gentle, and the returning love is palpable in their stares.

One softly thumbing the other’s tears away, or kissing the tears away.

Terms of endearment. I feel like Ed would use “love/lover” on occasion, and I feel like Stede would be a bit more generous with his. But hearing his “dear, darling, my love, my dove, etc” a lot would still hit super hard.

Honestly any sort of portrayal of love between them, be it verbal, physical, or emotional. I just want so much love, happiness, security, and mutuality for the both of them.

WHAT A STRANGE QUESTION TO ASK. Most of the time when people see her, they don’t ask her about her life. If they even ask them in the first place. She can always see it in their eyes, the prying questions: what happened, how did you get like this, will you ever be the same again, oh that poor girl-

The questions are never about her, so much as they are about what was done to her. The same difference between a subject and an object. Maybe that’s why he asks her this question instead. She doesn’t know what he’s been through and it is vice versa too, but like is attracted to like. The wounded have a way of finding one another, the same way rivers will always make their way to the sea in the end.

“...Water?” She offers, hesitantly. Is that too simple of an answer to say? Although perhaps it is not right to say it makes her happy so much as it calms her, silences the thoughts when she can’t do so herself. “The beach. I grew up with the sea and the sand at my feet. And Samchu– the neighborhood cat. She likes it when her chin is scratched.” She closes her eyes, remembering Samchu’s purring against her fingers. The calico cat would then rub her head against the back of Annie’s hand. A small smile. 

“Chocolate. I like the dark ones and mint. I don’t like it when they’re in bars; the individual pieces have prettier wrapping.” Would anyone care if they knew? Annie doesn’t know, but if they would, would they go out of their to–

Oh wait, there is one person. 

What makes Annie happy, Lí Chényǔ asks her, when sanity and coherence already feels out of of arm’s reach. Happiness? It wasn’t even, and still doesn’t feel like a priority for her. And yet, and yet-! In the midst of this chaos, she did find something. Or rather someone found her. She thinks of long hair and a stoic demeanor. Of a voice strong and controlled, but still chooses to call Annie’s name gently. Yes, that’s her north star, isn’t it? Annie’s light in this dark chasm.

Every once in a while I'm reminded that there are people who legitimately believe that Pokemon games only have a 1 year dev cycle and my brain goes numb. It is physically impossible for games of this size to be developed within a year

Can we just go back to saying we dislike certain games/aspects of the games instead of making up things thank you

the thing is i very much enjoy when a knitting pattern doesn't result in the measurements i want / requires a gauge i can't realistically achieve, and i thus get a free riddle about rewriting the pattern so the garment will fit me and the original colourwork/cable/texture is preserved
