So he's in the Nether, right? Hes obviously gotta find out what AB is, but idk if we'll find out what it is entirely. And maybe by the end of it, he would find some way out of the Nether, but it wouldn't lead to the main island. Just an island that looks almost identical to it, except entirely empty.

Except of course, for the Eggs, and whatever evil thing they've been terrified of this whole time

So I'm under the assumption that Orange, Navel & Tangerine don't have verified ages? (We all know what assuming does but I digress) [Update: I was nicely infomed that they don't seem to which genuinely makes me feel leagues better about this post. So thanks! to jeekoneeko. Especially bcuz they share one of my thoughts on Tangerine and that also made me feel better about my other thoughts. ^^]

In this post, I shall discuss my thoughts on their ages all stemming from the initial thought I've had for a minute that Orange & Navel are probably really close in age. 

In Year 1 Citron is 22, & in Year 2 it was said that when Tangerine turns 20 he'll become King, so we know he's younger than 20 in year 2. In the Eggciting Travelogue, it's stated that Sakuya is kind of close in age with Tangerine.

But in HQ there was that younger brother bit with him and Masumi (Honestly I think I'm misinterpreting this part but I have no alt translations or anyone to talk to about it so...)

So I'm gonna believe he's closer in age to Masumi than Sakuya. (Which isn't far but still.) So Masumi is 16 in year 1 so let's say Tangerine is too. That would make Tangerine and Citron about 6 years apart.

While that means there's about 6 years to place Orange and Navel, I believe they're closer in age to each other than any of them are. Idk how old they were intended to be but my gut initially said Orange is probably 2 or 3 years younger than Citron and I feel Navel is at most 1 year younger than Orange. And like I have no concrete proof of this it's just the vibe I get. But these vibes are probably partially because of them being close and somewhat because they tend to be grouped together. Like it's been stated that people would prefer Orange or Navel, but why is Navel even being somewhat considered when Orange is next after Citron? Maybe because he's so close in age with Orange anyway?(Tho lowkey he feels tagged on but that's a whole other incomplete thought I have) And then I realized that that means I feel Navel is 3 or 2 years older than Tangerine so I decided I like this split and I think it checks because it evens out.

But I'm gonna bump Tangerine down a year somewhat because it makes the numbers even more even when specifying ages but aslo I originally would've pegged his age closer to Muku, and while I suppose 16(year 1) isn't too far off, he does sorta feel younger than Masumi(to me at least) & 15 is close to both Muku & Masumi & not too far from Sakuya who was 17 in year 1.

So I think I'm gonna mainly go with the idea that in year 2 the ages were Citron 23, Orange 20, Navel 19, and Tangerine 16. And there's a reason I chose 20 for Orange, and though it's lost some of its grounding, it's what I'm sticking with for now. (I'll explain that in a different post)

When I mentioned that I found Venom's attitude towards the supernatural interesting and very different from Big Bosses, it was this tape I thought of specifically. Because not only is Venom not even all that open to the idea of Eli having telekinesis, he actually dismisses Ocelot entirely on it. Cutting him off mid-explanation, and grumpily telling Ocelot to find another explanation. This isn't the first time he's dismissive of it either; in my shorter Man on Fire post he gets annoyed when Ocelot tries to explain that yes, the Man on Fire survived. No, logic can't explain it, but he did.

Not even wiling to entertain the possibly, eh, Venom?  Also, there’s some of that blink and you’ll miss it snark he sometimes has. (I also wonder if Ocelot would’ve found this strange. Hypnotized or not, he knows what Big Boss believes, and Venom not responding to it might’ve stuck out to him in a way he couldn’t address under hypnosis but that’d be another post).

So, my headcanons. (This got long..again)

I therefore think Venom beforehand was a pretty literal minded type. He might've even been more scientifically minded as well. Because I played MGSV first I didn't think much of it. Looking back though, this would certainly have made my brain tick if I'd known the character of Big Boss before. Big Boss after all: Fought a man powered by electricity. Fought a ghost in a purgatory like state. Fought the rest of the Cobra Unit. Is afraid of vampires. I'm not mocking this, but I am noting it as a thing he believes in. Believes in Santa. Again, not mocking. It furthers my explanation of his beliefs. Big Boss knows these things exist. And I imagine has a natural open mindedness. Knows, accepts and doesn't question it. The Man on Fire would probably make him weary but he'd not question him existing. If anything he'd be alarmed by realizing it's Volgin moreso than Venom, who is forced every time he encounters the man to acknowledge that weirder things exist out there than he knew before.

He actually says, “What the...?” At a point in this scene that never gets picked up by the games subtitles. In the moment, it’s because he’s responding to Shabani taking over Mantis and thus the Man on Fire stops attacking, but I’d also figure it’s his general attitude towards the man in general. This is a man forced to accept that this flaming beast was not a hospital hallucination (a valid worry for him to have) and logic isn't about to write it off. Since Venom was MSF he must've seen bizarre stuff right? (I’d like to point out I’m not blaming Venom for any of this btw. I have diagnosed psychosis (it’s managed atm), I have hallucinated. I’d probably spend every day screaming if I was Venom but this is..not relevant at present, I’m not talking about me after all). Well, assuming he was with them through Peace Walker (and I certainly think he was) then everything they fought was ultimately still man-made. Elaborate and stretching reality to the absolute max, but still man made. Those AI's were made by Strangelove and Huey. Hot Coldman was still a human man. Zadornov was a human man. Etc. I think Venom might've thus been more of a realist than some of his comrades. It fits with a more medical and scientific mindset, but that's hardly a brush you can paint all doctors and combat medics with. Plenty of soldiers are superstitious. Not to mention different cultures. I imagine a couple things then: Venom was as I said before, pragmatic and logical. I'd imagine he had an education but probably got medical training in battle and/or outside of your standard university education. He probably didn't have say, a medical license. But had excellent training. Or was a very good learner. I do believe he was quite quick on his feet, mentally as well. I think he may have been an atheist or chose not to give religion much thought. Now granted this ones got more grasping behind it, religion is not a huge theme of the Metal Gear series so I don't give that one too much thought. I believe as well that Venom might be inclined to write a lot of what happens as his own brain playing tricks on him. Given how badly the man hallucinates and disassociates this is a completely logical mindset and fully understandable. It also fits with his character. If other people did not at times experience what he did, I wonder if he'd scoff and chalk it up to a him issue. But it is very interesting for a guy as logic minded as him to be an MGS protagonist and quite fun to explore headcanon wise. Of course, some of it makes me a little sad too. I believe Zero and Ocelot would've scraped any evidence of who Venom was before from records. Retaining only what Big Boss needed. And all that's left of who he was prior exists in far away beliefs and values he held before and can only tentatively grasp. Those threads that didn't meet the overwrite process before awakening. If Venom were a computer, he'd be that program you overwrote to another; but some elements stay buried deep in the harddrive.

Sage is underestimating Liam. One of her biggest fears is that he'll remember and that knowing his past will break him. Honestly? Azazel thinks it will, too. Because why wouldn't it?

But they're both forgetting that that rage in the family is genetic and Liam got it, too. It's not as obvious. He's a happy dude, living a good life. But it's not going to break him if he remembers his family, if he remembers dying.

It's going to infuriate him. He'll be just as angry at Wilder as Sage is. He was their older brother. He should have protected them. He never should have fucking messed with Azazel. (It helps, probably, that Wilder and Liam rarely saw eye-to-eye to begin with.)

But also? He's going to be just as angry at Sage. What right did she have to make that deal? To resurrect him and take his memories? To make that call without his consent? To choose a second chance with Azazel? To care about Azazel? The last part being the most damning.

It's easy to think that Liam is too soft to handle the truth. And maybe he would be if he were most other people. But instead? He's going to be just as willing to burn the whole world down as both of his siblings are.

So.. I Think I’m nonbinary

Reasons why:

I am afab but I never felt like I’ve fit into that gender.

I’ve always wished I was a boy but now idk if I can see myself fully as a boy either.

I feel like I’m in the middle or I can go between feeling more feminine or more masculine.

I’ve never admitted this or even gave it much thought until recently (I’m 31) because of my family and other factors but I’m tired of presenting myself in a way that is comfortable for them but not for me.

Not really sure what to do next or if I’m right but I wanted to write this as a way of acknowledging it and not ignoring these feelings/ thoughts like I’ve been doing.

i feel like she's talking to the player. one thing that points me in that direction is how she reacts to the hackett family and whether they live or die in your playthrough.

for example, she is ONLY happy when all of the hacketts are dead and her son is alive. she's angry at you, the player, for making the wrong decisions that gets her son killed/or keeps any of the hacketts alive.

as the player, you're the only person who can change the course of the story and i think she's talking to you directly as you play rather than any of the characters in game
