I'm at work and I overheard a conversation in the back of the office and like now I'm kind of just like:

Why do people hate participation trophies so much?

Shouldn't we as a society acknowledge that trying is good? Why should people only get rewarded if in the very top percent? Sure, sure, that's the point of a competition--to win-- and there can still be first, second, and third-place prizes but like why shouldn't we say "Good job!" to those who try too?

UPDATE: Food Packages!

Hussam managed to put together 150 food packages with feta cheese, halva, biscuits, sugar, salt, yeast, cooking oil, tomato sauce, and canned legumes! He also put together another set of 200 vegetable packages.

Thanks to all your help, Hussam’s able to put together packages like these to feed the people of Gaza in the midst of such a difficult time! There’s a special message in the video to everyone, so please take the time to watch it!

Was so at the end of my rope I got to work and almost immediately had to step out to go cry over an extremely minor inconvenience. While not extremely minor but like things were immediately set to go not how I planned and then were things I couldn't follow going on and I couldn't take it. I started crying and thus left to go cry.

Then since I was gone for ten minutes I was still trying to calm myself down when I was returning and I had to immediately attempt to help a student and like it was honestly out of my hands on solutions but I really wanted to help. I never get to help film students but the problem was that the program was freezing as in none of the buttons were working so I just couldn't do anything helpful. He said he appreciates me trying but I feel so bad, his film's due in 40 minutes.(which granted it's not ideal to be working on a film the morning it's due but still.)

So yea. I'm not crying anymore but I am sad. And don't know how I'm gonna handle being main front desk today... But I think I'll just have to be antisocial everywhere else.

I honestly and truly believe all good AUs should be a little “”””ooc”””” in the sense that good characterisation involves understanding that changes a characters backstory and circumstances will have an effect on how they respond to the world around them

Good characterisation isn’t about creating a perfect 1:1 canon replica it’s about understanding why a character is different in your work and about grounding the changes you do deliberately choose to make in canon character traits

nobody warns you this but addiction happens without you noticing and one of the first things that it attacks is your ability to care. if you find yourself using recreational drugs every day, stop and take one day a week sober. if you struggle with this or if you don't see the point of the exercise, you are likely already addicted and you need help.

Does anyone else like have points where talking is really hard? Like you basically can't, words are not really forming, or especially not coming out?

Does it ever overlap with written messages?

Or like depict itself in that way? Like you feel like you can't talk but you're basically running a customer service job and so when you have to interact with someone because it's your job, you have to push past the feeling and speak but you can't text, post or talk really in other situations?

Or are those separate things I'm experiencing?

Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.
