Let's talk about the parallel between the scene where Nandor leaves Guillermo to become a human and the scene where Nandor stays when Guillermo renounces vampirism.

In season 3 we watch Nandor grapple with his existence. He is deeply depressed and searches for meaning when he decides to "become human". Guillermo pleads with him to not leave, and to turn him into a vampire before he leaves. Nandor refuses to burden Guillermo with the curse of vampirism and leaves for the Wellness Center anyway. He doesn't give Guillermo the choice to be a vampire because he knows it isn't what Guillermo really wants.

It pains Guillermo to see Nandor leave and it isn't long before he rescues Nandor from the Wellness Center. But Guillermo quickly learns that for the first time in a long time, Nandor feels useful and powerful as a human. He feels a sense of belonging.

Despite this, Guillermo doesn't give Nandor a choice and forces him to come back home. He does it because he knows this isn't what Nandor really wants. And he does it because he selfishly needs Nandor.

Now we jump to the finale of Season 5 and Guillermo is finally a vampire, but he realizes it's not what he thought it would be. Ultimately, Guillermo just wants to be closer to the vampires.. closer to Nandor. He wants to feel belonging, too.

Nandor gives Guillermo the option to choose between being a human and being a vampire. Guillermo chooses to be human. And Nandor is visibly let down by this choice, it pains him to lose this chance at eternal companionship.

But he respects Guillermo's choice and ultimately kills Derek for him. And in that regard, Nandor rescues Guillermo, too.

Nandor tried be human in an attempt to belong, just like Guillermo became a vampire to fit in with the vampires. But it is not vampirism or humanity that bring Nandor and Guillermo closer to that sense of belonging. It's in the way they fight for each other. It's how they refuse to watch each other destroy themselves in order to be loved. They are each other's home. But that home is impermanent.

I will never recover from the knowledge that thymoma generally has a very high survival rate, and in most cases that it becomes fatal, the patient has unknowingly lived with the cancer for years. There's a chance that Wilson was sick for half the series and didn't even know it.

Just to clarify my thoughts (since I've had a number of people ask me about it) re: Job and cursing God. There's a big difference between cursing God as used in Scripture and how we generally would think of cursing at God today.

Cursing someone, in the Bible, has a lot of depth to it. It's not just saying "screw you " in anger, it's got a sense of forsakenness to it. It's the opposite of a blessing, a removal of blessing. If the blessing is presence, your face shining on the person you're blessing, then a curse is absence. In some translations, Job's wife tells him to "renounce God and die," which I honestly think makes a lot more sense to modern ears.

Job says a lot of unpleasant things to and about God in his anger and grief. So do the Psalmists. A number of the Prophets. So can we. God can take it if we come to him with honest expressions of our emotion, including those not-so-nice ones directed at him. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting mad at God and saying, "How dare you, you bastard" when you suffer unjustly. You can say much worse, I think, without sinning, though I don't feel particularly inclined to give examples. But as long as it's an honest expression of your heart, I think you're doing exactly what prayer is for. You're presenting him your heart with an open hand. He can use that. Opposite of love is not hate but indifference, etc.

Job doesn't renounce God. Neither should we. But I think when you're truly suffering, you're gonna have those feelings toward God either way. He'd rather you address them with him directly than try to avoid them. Cursing at God in the modern sense is actually a great way to keep the relationship strong and not end up cursing/renouncing him in the Biblical sense.

I need some prayers. My health is really bad right now, and i might lose my job.

This might be controversial to some, but you cannot "tough love" your way to preventing suicide. You cannot have the attitude that people who complete suicide are selfish or are ungrateful or immature. If your mindset about suicide isn't coming from compassion rather than judgment, it won't help suicidal people. You will never help us with a slap on the wrist and a lecture about how we're awful for even thinking about completing suicide.
