So far in s5 has happened: 1) Nathalie physically restraining Gabriel. 2) Reverse crush 3)Sangestes AND MamaNath have WON 4) FELIX being an anti-hero and apparently not. getting Chloe treatment?? (still upset about Chole, tbh) 5) MariChat first kiss being the first where both of them were in real world and without memory wipe 6) Married Ladynoir. After all these things I was sure the show wouldn't go, I think sentimonster theory might be more than right, after all!

Natalie rose to great character status in a single season like congrats girl

YES. I mean that's what got me back into watching the show cause Marichat kiss?? Adrien having a crush on Marinette? Ladybug being cringe in front of Chat Noir? I have been waiting to this for SO LONG

4. Watching Miraculer after season 4 was such a blow tbh cause Chloe comes so far as a character and like, she's obviously still a shitty person but I much rather prefer a mean girl character with redeeming qualities then the one-dimensional character she is now. Watching her trying to save people while STILL being herself? Amazing, 10/10, every team needs a mean girl member.

5. Marichat's development was like, so good? Throughout all the seasons? Every episode with them was just this gradual buildup of friends-to-lovers and I am a SUCKER for that so...

6. The cursed doll babies. Are so cursed :/ Like I get what they were trying to do, its two kids playing house in their dream-imagination world, it's SUPPOSED to be off-putting.

Asdghhjk the sentimonster theory is pretty canon I think at this point. The same way Gabriel-is-Hawkmoth was canon before they even bothered with the reveal cause...yeah...we know.

Anyway, I'm so excited for S5 because it's suddenly a real show? With stakes and drama and character development? The very IDEA that Marinette are gonna get together, gonna learn about each other as people, think "Huh they kind of remind me of my partner" and have this whole bff thing going on with their superhero personas, not knowing they are dating each other?? Peak dumbassery, I love this show.

My favourite ML fanfiction tropes

I was going to write about this when this post appeared. So I thought, why should I delay it? Such an interesting topic. Here we go!

Adrien accidentally finding out about Marinette's crush on him and being overjoyed that such an amazing girl loves him, even if he can't reciprocate her feelings.

Adrien finding out about Marinette's crush on him and starting to realise that he has fallen for her too.

Accidental identity reveals, especially ones due to a slip of the tongue.

One-sided reveal, when one of them knows that the other knows.

Hurt/comfort scenes, especially Ladynoir/Ladrien ones.

People discussing Ladybug and Chat Noir in the presence of their civilian alter egos.

Ladybug being smitten by Chat Noir, but denying that.

Time-travel, especially when future Adrinette kids are there.

Marinette asking Chat Noir’s help to confess to her crush.

Since I'm a sucker for Ladrien fics, I must mention:

Ladrien fics tropes:

Adrien gushing about Ladybug in school and Marinette or Alya (or both of them) overhearing that.

Ladybug and Adrien being stuck together during an akuma attack and Adrien using the opportunity to confess his feelings to Ladybug.

Ladybug being invited to an event organised by Gabriel Agreste, and during the event Adrien only has eyes for her (Chat Noir somehow doesn't show up).

Ladybug ends up in Adrien's room (e.g. patrolling alone while it's cold outside or visiting Adrien after an akuma attack to check on him), which usually leads to fluffy scenes and/or love confessions/kisses/blushing etc.

Adrien finds out about Ladybug's crush on him (e.g. she let it slip in an interview).

Angsty (not salty!) tropes :

Chat Noir leaving the team (or trying to) due to feeling unneeded or/and depressed, and Ladybug being heartbroken by his absence. There must be a happy ending preceded by hurt/comfort scenes.

One of the heroes is injured and the other must deal with the possibility of losing their partner.

Marinette getting rejected by Adrien and being comforted by Chat Noir as Ladybug (this might lead to the identity reveal).

Memory loss.

Anything related to Ladybug's Chat Blanc trauma.

Puppeteer 2 is one of the best episodes for relationship development of the series

this is once again a plea for the fandom to get over a minute long statue scene that is honestly kinda funny to enjoy some of the beauties of the rest of this episode. I've seen so many people, even people who don't salt say this episode is a pass when you should definitely watch it if you love the love square

this is one of the best love square development episodes of the series and i see so many people discredit ot not realizing that all the salty takes on how the love square is a bad ship would be discredited by this episode and just....it's a banger of an episode

for starters, the core 4 and djwifi interactions are godtier

THEN THERES MR SHE'S JUST A FRIEND AGRESTE BEING SO SAD AT THE IDEA THAT MARINETTE DOESN'T LIKE HIM

He values her friendship so much and is absolutely devastated that she doesn't feel the same way and so he spends the rest of the episode trying to make her like him because he just cannot bear marinette dupain cheng not liking him

look at them how could you not want to know why the tension in the elevator is so palpable

and

THE ADRINETTE IS SO GOOD THOUGH AHH

we have adrien who genuinely just wants to be friends with marinette and marinette catastrophizing up a storm and see them both lose braincells cause adrien is like oh i'll just play a prank like when i do it to ladybug that always works but it doesn and then the best part of the episode is THEY TALK ABOUT IT

and mari makes up another excuse for why she doesn't like him as more than a friend, but she does reassure him that they are friends, she just doesn't me like him more than friends, and honestly this is where she dug her own grave yes but think about how HAPPY adrien is to have a friend and especially one marinette dupain cheng to be that friend. we know how important friends are to him and i can't deal with the idea that for so long he wasn't sure if mari like him even as just a friend but this time she confirmed it and just ahhhhh

i'm also a sucker for adrien protecting mari scenes okay, and seeing him fence hawkmoth is some pretty exciting stuff (and dare i say some potential foreshadowing? >.>)

*ahem* LADRIEN

LOOK AT THEM SAVE EACH OTHERSSGFDJLGD

the ladynoir interactions are also so good btw like for real this bit:

CN: The worse the situation, the more amazing I realize you are!

LB: How do you do that?

CN: Do what?

LB: If I mean so much to you, how is it so easy for you to say these nice things to me, even in bad situations? The really important things are the hardest to say, aren't they?

CN: It's precisely when it's important that it's important to say it!

THIS IS THE ENTIRE REASON WHY LADYBUG NEEDS CHAT AS HER PARTNER, THIS IS IT. HE GROUNDS HER AND MAKES HER REALIZE SHE DOESN'T NEED TO OVERCOMPLICATE OR CATASTRAPHIZE. THIS HERE IS WHY CHAT IS JUST AS POWERFUL AS LADYBUG HES THE ONLY ONE SHE CAN FEEL SAFE AND REASSURED BY.

also I don't have time to explain but this was also genuinely the best rehash of an akuma because those wax statues coming to life and pretending to be LB and CN had me terrified.

and we end with this interaction, somehow both heartlifting and heartbreaking:

M: I shouldn't have kissed that statue. I didn't know it was you, if I had it wouldn't have neem a prank because—

A: No, no! It's my fault! When you left the workshop, I was so worried you were mad at me it made me do this prank and...

M: Of course I wasn't mad! I'm sorry I made you believe that.

A: Is that true? We're still friends?

M: Of course! But maybe we should stop playing pranks on each other!

A: *laughs* I know, I'm not good with jokes. The girl I'm in love with doesn't like them.

M: The girl...you're...you're in love with

LOOK AT THEM BEING ALMOST HONEST BUT THEY CANT CAUSE THE LOVE SOMEONE ELSE BUT THE PERSON THE LOVE IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM AND I JUST I CANT DEAL THIS IS WHY THE LOVE SQUARE IS SO GOOD THIS IS WHY I SHIP THEM SO HARD

i promise, once you get over that 1 minute scene this episode is one of the absolute best and worth far more than any momentary cringe. come on friend i know you can do it

OH MY FREAKING GAHD THE NEW ML EP YOU GUYS WAS I THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD TO PAUSE SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE SHOW TO JUST BREATHE, SCREAM INTO A PILLOW, AND/OR TRY TO FREAKING KEEP IT TOGETHER BECAUSE ALL MY ML DREAMS ARE FINALLY COMING TRUEE AND HAWKDADDY AND THE TEAM ARE COMING THROUGH FOR US Y'ALL.

But seriously, I freaking felt like it was a combination of so many fanfics I've read coming to life? Am I the only one?!?!
