„And what about Barbie? The movie came out not too long ago; have you seen it yet?” Yuki asked, his voice airy and happy.
The short boy held tight on to Moonsik's hand, pulling the older beta after himself. He could already smell the comfort the Omega Store brought him.
„No, not yet, have you?” You asked, looking up at him. He shook his head. „No, I haven't. We were supposed to go with the pack, but we had been quite busy, so it didn't work out yet."
You could hear just the slightest disappointment in his voice, but it didn't take too long for him to brighten up.
„We will go soon; don't worry, baby.” Moonsik spoke calmly, ruffling up the already messy hair Yuki had.
And so, you all entered the store, where many high-quality beddings of all different sizes and patterns were neatly stocked on the tall shelves.
The omega led the way right away, pulling his mate along and mumbling something about the new silk line of sheets. While their pack certainly wasn't poor; the beta realised well that they still had to keep up with a budget set earlier, but there was no harm in looking around.
He would make sure to keep their own omega in check, though, making sure he wouldn't go overboard with things. Of course he would let him get new things for his nest; who was he to say no?
„Princess, where would you like to go first?” You looked back at the alpha, his smile soft. He couldn't help but coo to himself at you; you looked precious.
You really were, though, for them anyway.
Taking a few short steps towards you, Jimin's soft hands went around your cheeks, gently giggling at how squishy and soft they were. You were adorable.
„How about we look at the blankets first?” Pulling you from his younger packmate, Hobi took your hand in his, your other palm still in the packalpha's.
Leading you towards the large quilt, duvet, and blanket section, there were much too many to choose from. Ranging from all different sizes and prints, there were cheaper ones and also more pricey ones from the more luxurious line, which the alphas were quite interested in.
Looking over at the tall, folded fabrics first, you couldn't help but  brush your fingers over a brown and white wool throw. It had a few threads cut neatly at the end, reminding you of pretty scarves.
„Come here, look at this one bunbun! It's so soft; here, baby, touch it!” The youngest alpha gasped out, picking up the carefully folded item before he skipped over to the three of you.
Setting your hands free, you gingerly ran your palm over the clean white duvet; the fabric was truly soft and nice to touch. Squeezing it softly, you could tell it was filled with feathers, therefore it would be expensive.
You hummed gently, nodding to Jungkook. It certainly was soft; that was true. Beaming at you, the alpha happily placed it back before he selected a much bigger size in a plastic, scent-free packaging.
Your eyes widened a little bit, not realising that Jungkook would just like that decide to take something to buy, solemnly based on your small smile and nod.
„What-? N-no, you ca-can't just-” You whispered out, shocked to your core. You noticed the price tag; it was over a million ₩ for god's sake! That was way too much on a simple duvet, plus you already had one too!
The man turned to you after placing the package into a cart pushed by Yoongi. „What do you mean, honeybun? Don't you want to have your own little nest?” He walked back over to you, bending to look closer at your face.
His eyes seemed so big and sweet, pulling at your heart strings. You suddenly felt shy, looking away.
„...I don't ne-nest, oppa." You whined out, having the packmate's closest by turning to look at you, hearing your soft distress. Pulling you to himself quickly, Jungkook lightly rubbed your back, scenting you a bit.
„I know sweet bunny, I know. But I think you should maybe try a little; you're such a good girl for alphas aren't you? When was the last time you did?” He asked, being mindful not to be too loud.
There weren't that many people in the store, but still, they wanted to avoid any commotion if possible. You looked away again, Hobi's fingers gently running through your hair to calm you down further.
„I don't know...” You whispered out, truly not sure. It was quite a long time, for sure. You had definitely brought some nesting materials for your grandfather's funeral, but since they carried a lot of your family's scents, you must have stopped using them soon after.
You heard Hoseok sigh out a bit. They weren't angry or disappointed at you; they would never, but still, it wasn't too healthy, worrying them to their very core.
While nesting was a quite usual act for omega's to do, it also always placed them in a very vulnerable position. A nest was only to be touched and entered after the omega's approval, and until then it was a forbidden fruit.
Not everyone understood that well, and a lot of them could end up scarred and too worried to build a nest for the rest of their lives.
It was a very important thing to do so, not just a silly tradition to use for heats and ruts. It ran in the people's blood, provided a safe spot for the pack's future pups if possible, and was therefore the most guarded spot of all pack houses.
Not only did it hold their littlest babies, it would much more likely hold their precious omega, which needed to be protected and guarded at all times.
And if not built from time to time on natural instincts, it could only mean that the person would end up more stressed and worried over time, leading to possible health issues.
Now that the pack has started the courting process with you, they have realised that it would be a rather good idea to get a separate room with the solemn purpose of a nest, hopefully made by you.
And so, as they were preparing to start the den, the other guest room they had would soon be transformed into one. They would still need to buy quite a few things, and so this stop at the store was a helpful start.
They might not get everything right away, but it would be a good thing to look around for now. And to especially take note of the things you like and what isn't up your alley.
„It's okay, peaches. You can always try again, hm? Alphas will always keep you safe, baby; don't worry.” Jin smiled softly at you, also pulling you to his chest for a beat or two.
„...Thank you, oppa." You mumbled out, your cheek squished up against his body. He chuckled softly at you, gently petting your hair before he pulled away.
„How about we take a look at the bed posts?” You nodded gratefully, gladly letting the alpha pull you after himself, a few of them trailing after you.
The large open section was filled with beds of all different sizes and shapes. Showcasing the mattress options and the many duvets, pillows, and covers, it held many different types.
And so you all looked around for a few minutes, walking through the wooden posts and the metal ones too. You always wanted to have a very cosy room to nest in, but considering how cramped your apartment was, it never looked that way; the room was only messy.
You weren't too sure about what the packmates would be interested in having their den look like; there were many styles, and each pack had a much different one.
While some enjoyed the bright and light room and the colourful sheets with many patterns, others preferred having a more casual look with posters or mirrors hung up.
You didn't really get to see any proper dens in your life, but you always enjoyed the more sleepy-looking ones—dark, comfortable sheets that just made you sleepy looking at them.
„We haven't measured the room yet, but which one do you like the best?" The packalpha asked, bended over to be face-to-face with you. His warm palms were at the arms of your pink coat, gently running over the fabric comfortingly.
It was quite a big store with many scents, and while the facemasks helped with being overwhelmed, the alphas were still on a constant watch over you entering a sudden drop.
You looked back over the many options. You weren't too sure exactly what you liked the most. There were simpler solid wood ones with a bed base only, and then a few of the much more complicated-looking ones, with the four posters, those were definitely meant to feed into the more natural instincts of many omegas.
You also really liked the look of the platform bed frames; the mattress is simply placed over the step of wood. It looked sleek and timeless.
You shrugged your shoulders, having the alpha softly pull you to himself once again. He could tell you were overwhelmed by the many options, sighing gently.
„It's okay, sweetheart. Do you prefer the wooden or metal ones, pup? We can go from there. Alpha will help you baby.” He smiled softly at you, encouraging you to make a much simpler decision.
„...I think I like the w-wood better." You said, your chin resting over the alpha's collarbone. He smiled widely, his dimples showing. You couldn't see them, though, with the mask covering it all up.
„Good job, sweetie. And what shape do you like the best?” He continued encouraging you. There were quite a few styles of beds you could choose from, with the circular ones being more traditional.
You never truly liked those; you always felt like something was a bit too cramped, and it looked awkward in the room too, if not placed with the utmost detail.
„M-maybe the normal rectangular? I'm not sure." You said. You did not want to offend anyone. He might love the other styles, for all you know.
„It's okay, pup. Thank you for telling me, baby, Alpha is very proud of his good girl.” Namjoon said calmly, knuckles running over the skin of your cheek.
Soon after the packalpha led you around the rest of the store, a few pillows, duvets, bedsheets, and other small things like new towels and sleeping mists filled up the large cart.
You held onto Namjoon's hand tightly the whole time you visited the store, only occasionally letting go to touch a few of the comforting fabrics.
„Kitty, come look here. What do you think?” Yoongi called out gently at the very end of the long row while you and a few of the alphas lingered at the front, looking over the blankets on display.
You walked over quickly, curious to see what had the alpha call out for your attention. While Yoongi held the cart most of the shopping spree, he didn't make much move to have you touch everything he found nice, letting you look around yourself first.
Instead, he just plucked the things he thought you might like right in the cart, hoping you would like them just as much as he did. He might have been one of the most quiet ones the entire time there, but for sure was one of the alphas that chose the most things for you.
With you coming closer, his arm outstretched lightly, your hand taken in his own right away. He smiled a little to himself, hiding it cleverly behind his own facemask.
Infront of him was a tidy row of a few plushies. They weren't the regular stuffed animal type, cleverly designed especially for more clingy and touch starved omegas that might have some hard times from time to time.
Placed in a plastic sealed box with a one always unboxed for the customers to touch and take a closer look at, there were many colours and types of animals, like soft pink rabbits, bears with fun outfits on, elephants and puppies, foxes or even dragons of all sizes and colours.
You had only a few toys growing up, and soft animals you could sleep with were always your favourite. You didn't have any now, unfortunately, but these weren't just a simple toy to cuddle with, no, these held a much better purpose.
As it was quite unusual for omegas to work, it was normal for them to stay back at the packhouse most of the time. Typically, another packmate would stay to keep them company, mostly to calm the rest of the pack not present down from the constant worry.
But sometimes, it wasn't possible to stay with them and everyone was required for their own arrands.
While the pack would most likely try and come back home as soon as possible, not comfortable with leaving the omegas fully by themselves, it would be quite usually nerve wracking and usually scary for the weakest second genders.
A well scented pillow or a blanket could help, but not all materials held in the smell for long enough, not working greatly.
And so a few companies started making smaller pillows and stuffed animals, that carried a special patch of fabric that would be practically drenched in the packmembers scent and wouldn't let go of it for a long time.
The items would be sold quite frequently, more and more packs using them to help from creating any stressful situations for their little ones, making more stores sell such, a giant trend settling.
You never had a thing like this, there was really no use for it with you, but you heard about them a few years ago. You liked the idea of having one though.
„Hm baby? What about the cat, it's pretty cute...” the alpha mumbled, the black fluffy cat with pretty eyes, one yellow and one green and light pink ears looked adorable for sure. It had a white tip on its tail, and was pretty big too.
„Hyung, that's not a cat that's like... A panther or something, that's too scary. Look honey, they have such a cute rabbit, don't you want one? You are my baby bunny, and it also kinda looks like Kooky too, how about that one?”
The youngest alpha hopped over, taking the pink bunny in his arms, showing you. It looked quite fluffy, and had long floppy ears that were just as long as it torso. With the special fabric to be placed into its paw, it would surely be more than nice.
„I think the puppy is much cuter princess, don't listen to silly Kookie. Do you want this one my most precious?" Jimin asked, holding the larger dog in his hands.
It was grey and white, each limb and part of its body a different colour, with a big oval nose and large black eyes. The large ears only added to the cuteness; they were quite bigger than its own legs.
You smiled softly, patting the animal. It was very sweet, warming you up on the inside.
„But babycheeks, look at the tiger; it's so soft! And it's a snow tiger too; that means it's extra speci-”" Taehyung said, letting you run your fingers over the white stripey animal. It was very comfortable to touch, for sure.
„You guys, stop. Let her choose whatever she likes the most; which one is the best pup?” Namjoon asked, pulling you gently closer to himself.
To be truthful, he was eyeing the wolf plush on the higher shelf himself.
You looked over the many options, reaching for the one that caught your eye from the very beginning. You couldn't bring yourself to decide which one you liked better exactly; you were not sure of your decision.
Reaching for the lamb, you pulled out the plastic box, holding it close to yourself. Still looking over at the different-coloured one, Seokjin was quick to notice, taking it out for you too.
„You want both cubs? That's okay, they are adorable.” He was quick to calm you down, taking the box from your arms and placing it carefully at the very top of the cart.
And so, with those in, the alphas made sure to quickly praise your choice before you were all on your way to check out—the black lamb and the white lamb paid for first.
Taking them for you, you and Hobi stood near the check-out, looking over the two comfort companions the pack had decided to get for you.
”...the scent spot is then placed in the sown pocket; it's closed off with velcro so it won't fall out. There will instruction manual in the box too; don't worry.” The man said as he scanned the many items the alphas have chosen for you today.
„Okay, thank you very much.” The eldest alpha replied, thankful that the clerk could answer the few questions he had regarding the scent animal.
„No problem; you can always stop by and we will help with any issues.” The man answered, not really paying attention to what Jin was saying.
Thanking him softly, he paid, the few other alphas carrying the bigger bags. With Moonsik and Yuki already waiting for your group by the entrance, the beta carried a much smaller bag himself.
„It was so sweet to meet you!” Yuki said happily, glad to make a new friend—an omega at that.
You nodded yourself, smiling widely. You haven't made such a nice friend in a long time, and you were beaming with excitement.
„We have to go back home now, but we will go out together again, right?” You nodded happily, typing in the omega's number, and a few of the packmembers saved Moonsik's and Yuki's numbers too.
„Yes, I would love to!” You happily answered, linking your pinkie with his for a sealed promise. You wanted to hang out with the omega much more often; you two had already made a few plans for movies and shows you would like to watch together.
And so, soon, the pair waved you goodbye, walking off towards the main exit of the mall. „We still need to buy a few things, baby peaches; let's go see some other shops.” Jin said, smiling gently at you and linking your finger with his.
It didn't take too long before most of the men dispersed into a few different directions, making sure to say proper goodbyes to you and letting you know exactly where they would be.
With Jin, and Hobi having to go grocery shopping, Jungkook wanting to check out the game store, and a few other things too, Jimin and Taehyung went on towards the few clothing boutiques, sneakily checking your shoe size this morning, happy to buy you more clothes.
And so, Yoongi and Namjoon took a hand each, Namjoon carrying a bag from the bedding store himself. They both decided to take you around a few stores they liked the best.
The first stop was the book store. While it wasn't the biggest, the packalpha had already started planning a trip to the biggest in Seoul with you soon, it had a nice selection and therefore had the alpha hooked on checking it out.
It was well lit, with a few smaller sections upfront showcasing the new bestsellers and a larger proper row of many filled-up bookshelves in the back of the store.
„What type of books do you like the best?" He asked you, leaning towards you to hear you better. You liked to read; you always did, but with school hours, you didn't always have as much time for it as you hoped you would.
„Maybe the m-more psychological ones? With a deeper thought...” You whispered, looking up at the man. He smiled softly at you, his chin going over the top of your head in a calming motion.
„What a good choice, sweetheart. Alpha will go look for a few you might like; how 'bout that?” He asked, his thumb running over your knuckles.
You nodded shyly, smiling. Namjoon stood back up tall, patting your back gently before he went on through the book sections he had in mind. There were already a few good picks he remembered liking.
„Let's see what they have, hm, little kitty?”

Sorrow
N/A
Sick
Airports reminded her of college, of leaving Eldham for the first time, transitioning from clueless child into functional adult. She thought she’d done that already—and been proud of it—but here she was again. The sick deja vu of it all reached its peak once she was on the plane, trying to take up as little space as she could while she heavy-breathed into a bag. The plastic smelled like claustrophobia, like she herself was being packaged and sent back to the warehouse for re-purchase.
Sock(ed) (from Emergence)
The blow caught her off guard. Her head swung sideways so hard she barely had time to process before her body hit the ground, and then another punch socked her solidly in the gut. All of Lucie’s thoughts scattered, and she curled forward with a groan, immediately losing her lunch (and some blood). Her head spun as her arm shot back instinctively, trying to gain purchase, thinking damn it, too late, too late. Of course, now was the moment when she actually needed Quin’s fighting skills to back her up. He would know that she couldn’t expose herself, but it was too late for that too.
Slice(s) (from unnamed Beauty and the Beast ace retelling)
“There’s only one of me,” the piece of magic said with a small laugh, but this time it was coming from a different direction. Iridi whirled back around and bit back a cry as a snake, this one as white as if it were scaled with slices of pearl, slid like some hallucination out of the wardrobe of dresses. It hovered in front of Iridi’s face, pink tongue quivering in the air, and then its face broke into a smile that sent a shiver down Iridi’s spine.
Spread
When Belle walked in on Ruby hunched over the bathtub with the toiletries she’d been planning to pack spread out around her like war shrapnel, Ruby almost cried. She just barely scraped by with a dry face, but her expression contorted anyway. Belle seemed to almost regret what she was about to say, but she said it anyway.
“Do you need me to grab those for you?”
“Yes,” Ruby seethed.
Heart
A flutter of discomfort flashed across Mason’s face. He seemed to sense that there was some conversation going on below the surface that he couldn’t hear. His eyes darted between Ruby, her mother, and the white tile floor before returning to his food. Ruby noted that, while her dàn bǐng was still lightly steaming, his looked cold. Her heart twisted, and suddenly, she wanted to wrestle the conversation back. Save him. The childhood Mason had seen every conversation with an adult as an interrogation. His hands would be shaking under the table.
Pulse(d)
Then she dropped her head into her hands and focused on her breathing. Her forehead pulsed. A cloud of thick pressure drifted like heavy fog between her eyes, lingering at her left eyebrow, before it slowly began to make its way over to her other eyebrow. Ruby squeezed her eyes shut, trying to think. The whole process was a bit like trying to have a conversation with someone through several layers of gauze.
Hair
“Understanding each other isn’t small,” Mason said with a frown. “That is the basis of friendship.”
“Well, yeah. On a bigger scale. But…like…” She paused, and then flipped onto her stomach, gazing at him. Her hair was mussed from where it had been mashed into the pillow. “Do you still like butternut squash?”
Mason blinked, the question catching him off-guard. “Yeah. Don’t you?”
Sigh
“Urgh!” she huffed, slamming her fist into the half-moon rock in frustration. A flash of movement caused her to snap her head up—only to watch in bemusement as her distinctly purple ballpoint pen plopped into the creek with a small splash. She froze, stunned. Looked down at her empty hand. Let out a slow, exasperated sigh. Yes, this had to happen, right now.
Gasp(ed) (from Emergence)
“You’ll miss!! You’re bluffing! You couldn’t possibly—”
“I don’t miss,” Lucie said coldly, and brought her hands together. The white lines of the bond that she had just forged glowed as if from the inside and then shattered like glass. Each line aimed at the man’s heart and Lucie looked on, icy as ever.
The man’s last words had been gasped out: “We could have...helped you. I could have helped you. You’ve always been like a daughter to me.”

Game Start! The Seven Lords: Bleeding Hearts(Sampler Fic)
(The sample fic for Obey Me! Shall We Date? is ready.)
Let's Summon A Demon! (A Reverse AU fic)
Content Warnings: Brief mention of sacrifice, blood, not really much else.
Tumblr media
⚝──⭒─⭑─⭒──⚝
Just about everyone in the neighborhood was familiar with at least six of the seven residents who rented out the house on the very end of second street. Aside from the sleepyhead of the household, the other six always seemed to be causing some sort of ruckus. While the arguments may have varied in topics, the most frequent to arise seemed to be the lingering debt of the second eldest in the household.
Yet, despite everything, anyone who took the time to fully get to know the seven would realize that they thought of each other as family. Even though two of the seven were actually blood-related, deep down they all thought of each other as brothers.
Oddly enough, it was a much quieter night than usual when the blonde returned home from his afternoon courses. Aside from the low rumble of the space heater by the door, it was pretty much silent. 'Has everyone else gone out? They all are usually home by now.' The blonde thought to himself, setting his schoolbag down on the couch. Usually his college classes were the ones that ran the latest in the day, since certain extracurriculars of his were only available late in the day. Perhaps if he was quick enough, he could- Creak. The youngest's steps towards the kitchen were interrupted by the familiar squeal of the basement stairs. "Oi, we're downstairs. Asmo told me to come and get ya'." Green eyes met blue as a familiar head of fluffy, white hair poked up over the lip of the top step. "I'm not coming if-" "He's not. He's sleepin' upstairs right now." The second eldest cut him off, before waving for him to follow. "Ya' can't keep Asmo waiting forever Satan. We were gonna start without you if ya' didn't come home sooner." 'Satan' rolled his eyes as he followed the other down the stairs.
"... You can't be serious Asmo." The blonde's frustrated sigh earned a chuckle from the fourth eldest. "Of course I'm serious! Plus, it's not like anything can go wrong if we do actually summon one. I'll just charm them with my good looks.~" 'Asmo' grinned, as the ravenette next to him finally set aside the small piece of white chalk he had been drawing with. "Belphie, you're into this idea as well?" Satan spoke as he looked over the sigil that 'Belphie' had drawn on the floor. The shape that had been drawn was a somewhat decent recreation of the symbol that resided on a sheet of printed out paper that lay on the floor next to it, albeit with the occasional shaky line or rubbed out splotch of chalk. "What do you mean?" The third eldest spoke from behind him, momentarily taking his eyes off his handheld to look quizzically at Satan and the rest of the group. "Wouldn't you be interested in pretty much anything that would piss Lucifer off?" "Well, yes Levi, but this is serious stuff here. None of us know literally anything about demons. I highly doubt that Asmo would genuinely be able to seduce it more than long enough for us to escape." He heard Asmo scoff from next to him before the second eldest spoke from his cozy position in the recliner. "That's sayin' they even do exist. Honestly they're probably just about as real as those 'curses' you keep placin' on Lucifer in your spare time." "They are real Mammon, and-" "Jeez, just shut up you two. Let's just get this over with so I can go to bed." Belphie cut the two off before they could get into another spat.
Asmo finished setting up the small circle of candles around the chalk sigil before handing the blonde the box of matches to light them, since he had just finished painting his nails before the summoning ritual and Satan's nails were 'chipped anyways'. Though that may or may not have been true, the rest of the group also knew that Asmo let him handle the matches since the blonde seemed to have a strong affinity for fire anyway. As he carefully lit the long wicks of each of the candles, the strong scent of lavender began to fill the space of the basement. "I thought we were supposed to use special ritual candles or something for this, not just ones from your room, Asmo." Levi questioned, causing the aforementioned male to shrug. "If I was a demon, I'd definitely prefer to be summoned like this rather than with some ancient scentless candle. Anyway, did you bring the sacrifice Beel?" The groups' eyes move to fall onto the tallest, who nodded and began unwrapping the plastic shopping bag on his lap. "They didn't have any of those weird meats that you asked for, so this was the closest I could really find." 'Beel' spoke, pulling out a packaged rack of lamb ribs. "Eh, it's probably good enough. Just cut it with the ceramic knife I grabbed from the kitchen and dripped some blood into the middle." Beel grabbed the plastic guard of the white blade on the floor near the circle.
A sigh erupted from Satan once more, as he crossed his arms. "This really isn't going to do anything is it? We're not even taking this seriously!" "What do you mean, we totally are. Plus, what other October group activities can you think of to do this time of year better than this?" "A pumpkin patch? A haunted house? Hell, even a scary movie night would be a better idea than a half-assed demon summoning ritual. It's not even going to work anyway." Satan went to stand up before Asmo caught his forearm. "Aw c'mon Satan!~ Don't be like that. This is a perfect way to have fun with Halloween so near. Plus everyone already does pumpkin patches and haunted houses every October. This is something new and exciting!" "I'm not going to waste any more time with this, I have an English essay due tomorrow and-" "Asmo? Does chalk normally do that when blood touches it?" Beel's voice cut through the two's argument, causing the eyes in the room to be drawn towards the sigil. "What exactly are you tal-" His words slowly halted as he stared at the ground before jumping to his feet in shock. As the red droplets of blood dripped off the rack of lamb, the white chalk suddenly began to turn red in a spiral-like pattern. Even spots where the blood had not yet reached were suddenly becoming red. "H-hey, I don't think chalk can do that sort of thing can it?" Levi looked over to Satan nervously. "Definitely not. So does that mean that it worked?" The blonde didn't even need to finished his sentence before the others slowly stood up and backed away from the circle, dropping whatever they were holding. The blood continued to dribble off the meat into the circle as the six watched silently, until the whole circle was nearly full. As the remnants of the original sigil were soon filled over with blood, the rest of the circle soon become full. Now all that remained was a rack of lamb resting in the center of a circular blood pool, surrounded by candles.
It remained that way for a good minute or two as tension hung thickly in the air. None of them spoke, eyes darting in between each other and the circle. That was until Mammon let out a startled squeal, hand pointing at a spot in the pool that seemed to be rippling. The rippling was subtle, but as they all came to stare at it, it began to move much more violently. Then, it emerged. It started with the digits of two fingers, and slowly a gloved hand was fully visible emerging from the floor. The hand was near the center of the circle, but seemed to move around, looking for something. eventually it took hold of the edge of the summoning circle. A second hand emerged after that, grasping the edge right next to the other. The hands that held onto the edge seemed to pull at the floorboards, like something was straining to pull itself upwards. None of them spoke still, the shock of the events occurring before them still rippling throughout the room. Beel was the first to step forward, much to the shock of the room. The ginger took careful steps towards the summoning circle, before taking a deep breath a slamming his foot down on the fingers' of whatever was trying to crawl out. The creature let out an unworldly screech from the other side of the portal be retracting it's hands back inside.
A second passed.
A minute passed.
A few minutes passed without anything happening from the portal.
Had it given up? Was a strong kick from his muscular brother/roommate really been enough to drive off-
Satan's thoughts were interrupted as the circle began to quiver violently once more, but much worse than before. At first it had shook, like how the water of a pond would ripple when you threw a fairly large stone into it. Now, it was quaking like a massive boulder had fallen into the pond, rippling violent enough that the blood had begun to splash out of the confines of the candle circle. Once more, something emerged, but it was much more than just hands now. A full body shot out of the circle, landing behind it in an almost acrobatic fashion. The leathery wings that hung off its back flicked a few times to shake off a few crimson droplets as a familiar gloved hand brought itself to the creature's mouth. The creature let out a long, dragged out yawn before tracing its fingertips over the gilded horns on either side of its head. The way that it seemed to be dragging out its actions was almost teasing, like it seemed to thrive off the tension that hung in the silent air.
"It's rude to stare, you know? Especially after you had the gall to wake me up and then step on my fingers."
...
"Jeez, tough crowd. I guess humans must really not be as easily entertained as they used to be."
...
"Are you really gonna make me talk to myself? I do have other things to do you know. Like the nap I was taking before you interrupted me." Its eyes finally cracked open and peered around the room, the creature's tail thumping against the floor behind it. It was almost like it was tapping its foot impatiently. Yet, no one still spoke. Everyone but the 'demon' seemed to just dart their eyes between each other. "This is getting nowhere, huh? Alright, I'll just get this over with myself then. You, tall one." It was obvious that it was speaking to Beel, who tensed his muscles as it approached. "You summoned me for something didn't you? Don't you want a pact or something? Need your enemies killed? A war won or something? C'mon, give me something to work with here." "I- uh-. No, none of those. We didn't actually have a reason." "... Seriously?" "...Yeah?" Its eyebrows furrowed as it brought a gloved hand to pinch the space between them. "You're telling me you went through the trouble to summon one of the Avatars of Sin and the third most powerful demon in the Devildom... for no reason."
...
"Oh God Satan was right." Levi murmured, looking as white as a sheet. "We should have ne-" "Satan? Did you say one of you was named Satan?" The creature tilted its head towards his voice, expression unintelligible. "I-its not his actual name we just- we uh-"
"You mortals.."
...
"... hehe..."
"... you never seem to fail to be interesting huh? It's almost cute. No wait, it's definitely cute. If my lord wouldn't get mad at me I might be tempted to keep ya'." The laughter that spilled from its lips seemed almost uncharacteristic of a demon, a sort of honey sweet giggle that almost sounded approachable. After a deep breath, the demon regained its composure, albeit now with a soft smile on its face. "But, I'm not mad about it if that's what you're thinking. I'm flattered, honest. I originally made up those names on a whim to trick the last person who summoned me to make a pact, but its almost nice to hear them used as names. Even if they aren't actually your names."

(It's been so long since I've actively shared my own writing, so apologies if it sounds weird at all or lacks proper flow. Constructive criticism is always welcome! I finished editing this while riding the high of finally defeating the pyro hypostasis sidshfhuisahfih. I dunno if this considered short or long, since my software of choice for writing this doesn't count my word count lol. I do have more ideas for this AU, so you are definitely welcome to ask for more details if you want. :) I'm gonna take a good nap before I post the second part.)
(Edit: Dialogue is now colour coded for easier reading. Cant believe I didnt think to do it earlier lololol.)

When Forever Ends
Word Count: 1550
Pairings: Lucifer Morningstar x Reader
Warnings: angst, not gonna lie this is intended to rip your heart out, I apologize ahead of time. It's sad and the only fluff is sad, sad fluff. I tried to negotiate for a slighter happier ending but the requester said and I quote 'Nope, rip my heart out and make me cry.' And the song they asked for doesn't help lol. So here it is.
A/N: Request from anonymous
Summary: Your voice echoed in his mind, he saw your smile every time he closed his eyes. It'd been years, but lately everything triggered his memories of you. He couldn't give you forever, but he promised he'd love you forever, even long after you were gone.
............................................................................
He knew, from the moment his eyes opened, he knew today would be hard.
This day always was.
It didn't matter how much time had passed, or how things had changed, this day would always provoke memories that squeezed his heart. Memories he never wished to forget, but hurt nonetheless.
He took longer to get ready then he normally did, his mind elsewhere as he poured himself a drink. It was early, to early to be drinking, but he needed the comforting burn the amber liquid offered him, needed the momentary distraction.
"Don't take too long Lucifer, a bad morning doesn't mean the day is ruined, we'll just have to make it a good day, won't we?"
He lowered the crystal glass away from his lips, a sad smile on his face. He couldn't almost hear your voice, as if you were right there. The almost joyful way you'd playfully scold him for taking to long. He sat the now empty cup on the glass bar, drifting towards his bedroom.
"Not today love." He muttered.
He wanted nothing more then to spend this dreary day locked away in his penthouse. Left alone with his memories of you, but his friends would be expecting him, and he had no excuse to give. So he got himself dressed and he put on a smile that never really reached his eyes, and he went on with his day.
~
"Must I? It's a rather tedious task, isn't it?"
You raised an eyebrow, smiling a bit as you fixed his tie.
"You don't have to do anything Lucifer. If you don't want to do something, don't. If you don't like something, change it."
You patted his chest lightly as you finished adjusting his tie.
"After all the devil is all about free will, isn't he?"
"Lucifer!"
He blinked at the sound of Chloe's voice, he hadn't realized he was so lost in the memory. Both Ella and the detective were watching him with almost concerned expressions.
"Well don't stand there gawking, don't we have a case to solve?" Lucifer huffed, turning his gaze away from them.
"We've been saying your name for almost five minutes." Chloe said slowly.
Her expression was sympathetic, and she placed a comforting hand on his arm.
"You seem really distracted today, is everything okay?"
Lucifer looked at her from the corner of his eyes, taking a step away from her reach.
"I'll be just fine detective, don't we have more pressing matters to focus on?" Lucifer said dismissively.
Ella frowned as her and Chloe shared a skeptical look.
"But Lucifer... you're crying..."
He frowned a little, slowly raising a hand to touch his cheek. A small smile graced his lips and he let out a quiet laugh as he started at his hand.
"So I am..."
Chloe took a step forward, trying to offer him comfort but Lucifer raised a hand, taking a step back.
"Perhaps it'd be best if I sat this case out, I'm afraid my mind is elsewhere today, I wouldn't be of much help."
He left in a hurry, their sympathy only making the pit in his stomach grow. They watched him go and Chloe pulled her phone from her pocket.
"We should call Linda."
~
Lucifer heaved a heavy sigh as he sat at the red light, impatiently waiting for it to change. He tapped his ring on the steering wheel, wondering just how much longer until the red turned green.
"You'd think the devil would be more patient with all the deals and favors you make."
He smiled at the memory of you saying that. He'd been rushing you, eagerly hoping to get to the party on time. You, however, seemed content to take things slow.
"If you're always rushing, you'll miss out on the things around you." You'd told him.
He'd begun to slow down a little after that, enjoying every moment a little more.
A honk from the car behind him pulled him from the memory, and he quickly sped away. Driving faster then he should have down the busy streets of LA. The sun was beginning to set when he finally reached his destination. He parked the corvette, shutting off the engine. He didn't move, not for a while.
The rows of tombstones seemed to stretch on for miles, and he took a small breath as he exited his car. It was memory now, finding the black marble stone, with the golden writing on it. He'd come to it so often, he could have found it blindfolded.
Lucifer stared at your name, engraved in elegant cursive, an old black and white photo of you, set in glass just under your name. You looked so beautiful, smiling as you proudly showed off the ring he'd given you. His heart dropped and he placed a hand on the smooth marble of your stone.
"Don't cry Luci, we always knew I couldn't be with you forever, we just didn't know it'd be this soon."
The first sad memory he'd had of you today and it made his vision blur. You had looked so pale laying in that hospital bed, so young to be so sick. He grasped your hamd tightly your own grip so weak.
"I don't know where I'm going, but I will always love you Lucifer."
He reached into his jacket, pulling a chain from his pocket, where your ring hung.
"Lucifer?"
He heard the voice, but didn't turn around, holding that ring tightly.
"I suppose the Detective called you?"
His voice was quiet, and Linda catiously approached him.
"She was worried, we all are."
He gave her a small smile before turning back to your grave.
"I'll be just fine my dear doctor. This is just a rather hard day for me."
Linda turned her attention to the tombstone, reading the name and looking at the photo. The date however surprised her a bit, she wasn't expecting it to be so long ago.
'1920-1945'
"You must have been very close."
Lucifer smiled a little, opening his hand to delicately trace the diamond on the silver band.
"Very much so..."
Linda looked at the ring, her heart breaking a little as she realized what it was.
"It's been seventy-five years, and this day never gets any easier."
He tucked the ring back into his pocket, kneeling down to brush a few blades of grass from the grave.
"She was so young to die so soon, although I suppose it was a cruel sort of mercy, I couldn't have bared to watch her grow old without me." Lucifer muttered.
"I can't give you forever, but darling I will love you forever, for all of time."
You had smiled when he said that, your hand growing colder in his.
"Heaven or hell, no matter where it is I go, l'll always be thinking of you Lucifer, and you'll always have my heart."
Lucifer softly skimmed his fingers over your photo before standing up again. Linda placed a comforting hand on his back.
"Forever and always darling."

I'm Not Over You // Ben Hardy x Reader (Part 8)
A/N: Ayoooo. Hey guys, here's part 8 and I'm so sorry if the previous chapters kind of frustrated you. I didn't really mean for it to but I hope you enjoy this one. I'll be posting 9 tomorrow or the day atfter. Thanks again for your feedbacks, y'all motivate me a lot ^^ ♥ (My Wi-Fi has prejudice against tumblr rn)
Summary: You had always loved Ben ever since you two met in university and became the best of friends. That feeling went out like a candle flame when the two of you parted ways until he re-entered your life...but this time with someone who has already occupied his heart.
Warnings: Angst, bois. ANGST (I cried like a sucker during one part I wrote 😔) mention of blood, yet again drinking, some speckles of fluff, and unnecessary dialogue if you look closely enough :^ I feel like a terrible writer today
WC: 4k I think?

"You look...beautiful." Ben's comment is indeed one thing to start the night. It's not like he's never told you that before–it's just the tone in which he has said it in is...different. A foreign tone never been released from his lips until you. You look up at him through your lashes, giving him a slanted smile accompanied by a bubbly chuckle. "Thanks. You smell nice too."
The corner of his eyes crinkle as his curving lips push them up. As expected, Rosy chimes in between you and Ben almost too quickly, the blurry speed in which she has arrived in making you gasp. "Excuse me, babe. You got interviewers on your tail and I- oh," her brows shoot up upon seeing you, seemingly haughty eyes flicking up and down your outfit in mild contempt.
"Surprised to see you here as well." The smile plastered on her face couldn't be any more forced than it is.
Girl, chill. Anti-aging soaps are not easy to manufacture these days. You begin holding your breath to prevent yourself from bursting into a fit from hearing that thought ring in your head. You shrug, garnering the guts to shift on your heightened stance and lean in an inch close.
"You're not the only one with a celebrity date."
You turn around too early to gauge her reaction, finally exhaling from holding your breath too long. You can finally conclude that she's had an effortless transition from being benign to far from being benign. The smoothest one-eighty you've ever witnessed. You remember her clearly being downright considerate of you the first time you met her yet now is a whole different story. You wonder if she was actually ever considerate.
As the boys and Lucy indulge in brief interviews, you stand behind the scenes and get the first-class chance of conversing with Brian. He's readily the coolest person in the house right now, bantering with you every once in three, fascinating topics. How fortunate are you to be in the spot a million Queen fans would die for but of course, you don't want to leave out Roger who - by a landslide - makes you wish you could wheeze and snort all you want if you weren't in a luxury event such as the Oscars. He seemed intimidating for you at first but as he joined in your talk with Brian, things escalated real quickly.
With the pre-ceremony interviews and the clinking of champagne glasses dampening, you begin hunting for your seats in the theatre.
Before you know it, you are informed that only a specific line of people are given exclusivity for the seats. And it shocks you that Joe, Allen, Ben and Gwilym are not given that card when in fact they were part of the very film that brought forth a new generation of fans. You shake your head disappointingly albeit contented that Rami, Lucy, Brian and Roger and their wives are part of the exclusivity.
Utterly determined to know the results - by Joe's 'sovereign' vote - the rest of you hang around in the waiting area, focusing on the ceremony rights shown on TV. Quietly sitting through the results, you all whoop and applaud at the mention of Bohemian Rhapsody obtaining three awards straight– your cheers amping up a notch as Rami brings home the 'Best Actor' award. Joe begins filming your reactions for Instagram, zooming into Gwilym, Ben and Allen's faces for most of the video. You throw your head back in laughter at how goofy the boys look; a bunch of men in their 30's bouncing up and down with one of them documenting the entire episode. At one point, Gwilym yanks as you in for a group hug, mercilessly crushing you in between their muscles– the disorienting experience now being something you wish you would never undergo again.
As Rami's thank you speech unfolds, you pay attention closely. The sentimentality of him lovingly thanking Lucy for being his anchor after dedicating his award to Freddie Mercury is just overwhelming and you wish you could tear up but your mascara would be waste. You're certain that made Brian and Roger emotional as well.
An hour after the ceremony, you all head down to the Vanity Fair after party in the same limo you had arrived in with every single person in the group eager to get the night progressing. Regardless of saying that these type of parties are not up to your speed, you try to get along with the evening and revel in what you know would be your last night with them. Sadly enough, Roger and Brian had to skip out on this with rough schedules on their hands. The moment they walked out of the place, they spent nearly half an hour congratulating the boys and having other celebrities congratulate them.
As you are seated across Ben and Rosy, you can't help but notice him acting a little distant from her. She's all nuzzled up against his arm and he is nowhere close to returning the favor. He's just...lost in thought, staring out the tinted window. It's still early to assume that in all the hours you were within a close range to them, Ben only ever acted aloof, giving her attention when the situation required it.
Perhaps a lover's tiff took place?
"Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing too." Mimicking your position, Joe calling you back to Earth makes you gasp a little. You close your eyes and look at your fingers blankly after recovering, sighing. "I think we should end all this pretending. It was simply a cop-out in the first place."
"I know," he whispers audibly enough for only you to hear, running his fingers through his fiery, red hair, "you should probably come clean soon enough before you leave."
And that you will. At least, you'll try.
In your defense, you thought the after party would host a fancy banquet but seated around with celebratory drinks -considerable with something classy - and attendees breaking down on the dance floor is a rather okay scene as well. As long as you don't end up like the night you were invited out for a drink with your colleagues, you should be fine for the most part.
The boys and Lucy have fully immersed themselves in the beat of the music while you've decided to remain stationary with one glass of wine, the only glass you'll be having for the rest of the party.
The entire time you gawk at them amusingly as they break out their dance moves, your eyes always find their way to Ben, who makes you snort painfully from all his antics as he moves along with Joe. They're a mess with their ties and buttons undone from all the movement and the sight inspires you to stay put.
But oh dear lord, can Ben dance like an uncle.
Keeping your attention on them, a descending weight sinks down next to you. You pay no mind to whoever it is but do as her voice interrupts your thoughts. "I hope your eye is on the right person, honey." You click your tongue in exasperation, turning your body towards Rosy and her developing, bitchy tendencies, scoffing as you place your drink down to set things straight with her. "First of all, what did I ever do to you to deserve this kind of talk?"
She smacks her lips together at you, simpering. "You didn't think I'd notice?"
"What are you talking about?"
Her almond eyes narrow as if she's trying pin you down with a warning. "Please, don't act like I never noticed. You're overstepping that boundary between you and your best friend- my fiance." Okay, so she's noticed. But your neutralized expression is not going to be giving away anything.
You incline your head to one side in hopes that the facade you're pulling would decompress her suspicion. "I have no idea what you're talking about. Ben is like my brother. "
Grabbing her drink from the table, she sighs and stands up, hands firm on her hips and face silhouetted under the beaming light nevertheless giving you a transpiercing glower in the manner of seeing through the makeshift barrier you've pulled up. "He better be. Try backing off every once in a while when I'm around."
To your dismay, you snap inside, whipping your head up at her and replying sharply to make the message crystal clear. "Rosy, you have no idea." Unable to withstand the atmosphere you're in, you put great emphasis on your words and snatch your drink, walking out to the mini garden to finish what's left of your wine without having to bear being around her.
The question is unadulterated and obvious– bold and italicized if you wish to give it a stretch and clarify it.
Why is Ben still with her?
Is he that clueless not to realize it?
You don't want to pry the answer out yourself but ruminating on it, Rosy pulling off a full one-eighty only when Ben's at an appropriate distance for her to squeeze you between her fingers is just about good as a reason as anything. Your unwavering feelings for Ben are clearly perceived by her– from the way you had reacted the day he introduced you both to each other to not so long ago.
You wonder if Ben ever took heed of her growing attitude towards you.
Finishing your wine in one, immediate, swig, you place it down on the marble surface before you with your fingers cradling the stem of the glass– relishing the spicy liquid flushing down your throat.
At the extent of overexerting themselves, Joe and Gwilym flop down back on their seats like jelly, tuckered out from the unconventional combination of alcohol and unsteady movement. Panting like a dog who had just participated in a marathon, Joe shrugs out of his blazer and tosses it over his shoulder, silently wishing the ice in the bucket that held the bottle of wine would save him from the grinding heat of the wine he had just about five minutes ago.
"Mate, you're deep in the heat." Gwilym comments as it is followed by a gentle laugh on how Joe's glistening in sweat under the dimming lights. He hands him a partially bland look before wiping his forehead with his handkerchief. Lucy and Rami are situated at other end of the place enjoying a chat with another party of people meanwhile Ben and Rosy are nowhere near any of them. Until, of course, they reappear from God knows where and Ben suddenly asks Joe where you've gone.
"I-I don't know." He says after a hefty sigh. Somewhat eager to find you, Ben begins excusing himself from Rosy whom which he has spiked a bitter reaction from for sharing his supposed time for her with you. Fed up and jealous in the slightest, Rosy snaps at him.
"Okay Ben, why do you always have to skip in between minutes to hang out with her even when we're together?"
He pauses from turning around completely and sighs. "She's my friend, babe."
Unwilling to accept his statement, she claims. "Well your friend is getting in the way of what was supposed to be our time together! Can't you set aside a limited time for her?! " This has alarmed Joe and Gwilym but it isn't their business to butt in and stop a quarrel from breaking out. Unless it turns physical, which is doubtful to happen. Ben, a little frustrated but still tolerant of her ongoing skittish behavior, tries to reassure her. "I know that, alright? But something's been bothering her for days and I just want to make sure she's doing alright."
"Can't you leave the worrying to Joe? He's her bloody boyfriend anyway!"
Wagging his forefinger at Rosy, Joe grumbles as he is not having any of her talk, scrunching his brows at her.
Grabbing her shoulders gently, Ben tries to relieve her of tension and assures her once more, but with a well-known fact she obviously still doesn't accept. "Joe's a little drunk. She's like...a sister to me," it really took him an abrupt pause to say 'sister', "besides, you're my fiancee. There's nothing to be jealous about."
"Why does she still have to be a part of your life? Our life?" Now that's a question that has just shifted Ben to a farther side. His brows knit together in momentary disbelief, unable to take her words in a good light. "God, Rosy! She's been around for so long! At least make an effort to accept her!" Like a slap to her conceitedness, Ben turns on his heels and walks out to find you. Leaving Rosy a steaming mess of insecurity.
However slightly drunk, Joe mutters to himself as he makes sure neither Gwilym or especially Rosy hears his words stumble out in a whisper. "You've grown a pair, Ben. You've grown a pair."
You've been outside for nearly half an hour; wine glass empty and your hair, along with the skirt of your dress, drifting along the harmless breeze and the waning moon spilling some light from behind the shaded clouds. Though there were a couple of people that found their way here to get some respite not too long ago, you're just glad to have this space to breathe in from the draining background of the party.
As you lose yourself in thought, a certain voice brings you back to reality.
"Nice night out, huh?"
Turning around slowly, you are met with the cool, forest green irises that you've grown to never tire of seeing. "I'm surprised you're still well-kept in that suit despite the scene back in there. " You give in to a chuckle, your smile pulling Ben to approach your side leisurely. "It's my Oscars suit. Something worthy of protecting."
"Hah!"
As he rests his elbows on the surface next to you, the distance between your skins makes you a tad bit anxious. Comfortable silence falls upon you both– for Ben at least, it's tolerable however you're not taking it well, not even in the slightest. You rub your hands together and sigh, prompting Ben to finally ask you.
"You alright? You've been tensing up lately."
You nod, closing your eyes and opening them afterwards. "This dress is just depleting me of bodily warmth." Half a lie told by you. Acting on his thoughts, Ben begins taking his blazer off but you stop him mid-shrug. "Keep it on. You look better with it on."
"This would look better on you, you're obviously freezing." He's really keen on keeping you warm but you're just as so in letting him keep it on. "I'm serious. Keep it on. I'm fine."
What can he do but just give in? When you're serious, you're serious. He lifts his shoulder in half a shrug, ducking his head as an idea flickers in his head like a bulb. He wants to relive something that has been lost through the years and it's only right that he does...now that you have less than a day to disappear from his life completely.
"Y/N..." He muses gently. You raise your brows at him in question, taken by surprise that he has his hand held out to you. Bewildered, you raise your finger to ask what on Earth he's doing. "What- what are you doing?"
He licks his bottom lip and the smile on his face becomes bashful but certain. "What else does it look like I'm doing, silly girl? Asking you to dance."
You're sorry that you couldn't keep a snort at bay. "Pfft. Ben, I think you're asking the wrong girl."
"Just let me dance with my best friend."
"Wow! That's noble of you," your chuckles can not be contained, even so much as restraining yourself from letting the blush spread throughout your face. But he has the fragments of what was once your heart, so why wouldn't you? You slip your hand in his and the grin on his face widens. "There we go. Easy does it." He breathes out, his voice getting gravelly. You hit him softly on his chest for cooing, at the same time realizing that his voice becomes that way only and only when he's nervous– something uncommon between you both. As his hands find home on your waist, you throw your arms around his neck, laughing at how awkward yet funny it feels. What a huge nod to how you danced with him on Homecoming.
"You're so weird sometimes. You got your fiancee, why don't you dance with her?" Getting used to the sting of referring to Rosy, you question anyway. He initiates with a sway before responding. "I already have. But, " he diverts his heavy-lidded eyes from staring off the distance to yours and suddenly, it feels like you're home, "I want to finish that Homecoming dance."
You find yourself speechless as you shift your unflinching gaze at him and he at you, your bodies swaying along the concrete and in perfect sync, coincidentally to the sudden change in music from inside, compared to the bittersweet night you had before the day that parted you both. Thin silence hangs in the atmosphere but only because you are looking at each other in a way you never have in your entire lives.
Instinctively, you break your gaze from his and rest your head on his chest, your hair falling into your face as your eyes screw shut. You hear his heart skip a beat, unusually in the same manner yours always has. Feeling your head follow the rise and fall of his chest tickles you inside– temporarily making you forget about the pain of soon letting him go and producing a sense of safety.
Maybe it's because of exhaustion? You wonder. He doesn't hesitate to stroke your hair and revel in the moment as well, easing you in closer to his body without breaking the sway. "You'll be there on my wedding day, right?" He asks nervously, his question pulling you back to the harshest reality.
You open your eyes slowly, your lips trembling as you let out the saddest sigh, feeling your chest tighten from the anxiety of soon telling him the truth.
"Y/N?" Your tensed-up body alarms him and so he breaks away and lifts your chin up lightly, being met with glossy and regretful eyes. His messy brows drawing together in slight worry. "What's wrong?"
Everything.
However uneager to push him away, you do, escaping his warm embrace. "Ben, I..."
He's dreading for your answer, painfully anticipating for the best or the worst to the point where his hands are lubricating with sweat.
You swallow the lump that has hardened in the back of your throat, pressing your lips together to prevent a sob from escaping and shunning his prying stare. "I can't..."
Joe's half-assed predicted, worst case scenario is slowly unfolding.
"What are you saying? You're not- you're not going...to be there?"
You bite down on your lip hard enough to make it swell, shaking your head and casting a sideways glance.
"Why?"
Tell the truth. Just tell him and you're either getting a support or another jab to the heart.
"Y/N, please! Tell me why!"
"I'm leaving, Ben!" The words didn't seem to stumble or carelessly flop from your lips, in fact it speared through him clean thereby catching him off guard. His eyes have fallen gravely, lips parted due to shock.
"I got into a medical school I had previously applied for. And I'm leaving," you snap your eyes shut and open them in tears once you've looked up at him, "on your wedding day."
"Why didn't- why didn't you ever tell me?" He's pleading for your explanation, barely clinging on to the belief that you would always tell him things.
You don't answer as you are battling to muster up the courage to say it.
"Y/N, please! You never tell me anything these days! And this- this news, it's important! You're leaving on the day I need you the most, and you never bothered to squeak a word about it! Not a single, bloody word! Why?!" He's racked up with disbelief and apparently, anger. Eyes rimmed, clouded with mixed emotions and face full-blown red from the pressure.
He grabs you by the shoulders and pleads heartbreakingly, his lively voice reduced to but a whisper. "Why..."
"I-" You're still holding back.
"Say it! "
"You'd soon forget about me, Ben!" You inhale sharply as you add, croaks present in your voice while you take two steps further away from him as you lament. "I'm hopelessly in love with you, you idiot! I've always been. I try- I try to brush off every single prick that stems out every minute I realize that you already belong to someone else..."
"Y/N-"
"I figured not telling you would help me let go. And it's the only way I can...because screw you for being a clueless, irreplaceable bloke! I can't imagine my bloody life without you in it! I don't think I can ever love anybody else...but you, "
"Y/N..."
You don't let him finish and achingly throw your hands to your chest as a gesture, pounding your chest thrice as you're finally wearing your heart on your sleeve. "I can't blame you for being oblivious to my feelings. You're committed to Rosy...and as much as I want to see you happy, I don't want to stand idly by and- and feel this way when you've pledged your heart to her...I want to forget and for you to forget me," As the warm tears you've held back for so long roll down your cheeks, you hug yourself through the pain, "I want you to be happy without worrying how I'd feel. And disappearing from your life, is the only way I know how..."
"Y/N, please, don't say that- don't do this...you can't do this...you c-can't..." With hands shaking, he strides towards you to haul you in back into his arms but you take an agonizing step away, stopping him in his tracks. "I have to. I...I want to. It hurts so much, Ben. It always has but promise me," even if you have taken a step away, you take it upon yourself to take those steps close to him and cup his cheek with a cold hand, "promise me you'll revel in that happiness. It's going to hurt being away from you. But it's going to hurt even more if I stay. And watch...my best friend grow old with someone else." Finally rendering him wordless, you shake your head and whisk past him back into the party which has died down a bit, leaving him a pondering mess out under the bleak sky.
"How could I be happy without you..."
You'd gladly do anything to go back home right now. The weight of what just took place is crushing you and the need to escape is fuming. But the thing is, Ben was never one to let you go easy.
He never did and possibly never will.
He sniffles and inhales sharply, jogging in after you and calling out your name amidst the constant noise and chatters. "Y/N, wait!"
You reach your table just in time to see everyone still gathered around with drinks raised and laughs released but you have to excuse yourself deliberately. "Y/N? Where have you been? What's the rush?" Lucy notices your hastened movement and places her hand on your tense shoulder. You snap your head at her with your purse in your grasp, shaking your head and apologizing that you have to leave, forgetting to rid your eyes of tears; the sight of you amping up Lucy's concern therefore leading you into her embrace. "Oh my god, are you okay? What happened?"
"Y/N!"
Ben's distant but audible voice echoing through the place just sends you panicking inside. "I'm so sorry, Luce. I have to go."
"Y/N, wait! What's wrong?"
Just as the rest could react to Lucy calling out for you and Ben dashing past them to catch up, you've already disappeared into the crowd, headed out the theatre to take a cab ride back to the hotel. Relentless to let you go, Ben follows your trail, spurring a quick frenzy from the rest and having them pursue Ben in return. Once you reach the outskirts of the pavements, you don't think twice before crossing the highway with your focus hardened before you.
Gasping for air upon exiting the theatre, Ben glances around in haste and finally spots you marching down the street oblivious to your surroundings despite treading along the pedestrian lane. His eyes widen in dread and acting on a fight or flight reaction, he yells for your attention as he speeds down the street to pull you in or rather save you from a possibility of getting hurt with all the rushing vehicles and careless drivers. "Y/N! Y/N!"
The boys, Lucy and Rosy arrive outside just in time to witness Ben race towards your direction and in a moment of feeling time slow down, you feel your heart in your throat at the late flash of nearing headlights, to add a heavy force propelling you off your feet and onto the other side of the road. What gets you up from the ground are the mixed screams of a familiar bunch and the sight of a bloodied man in white laying unconscious on the cold surface of the road.
White noise suddenly fills your ears instead of your own voice as you scream out his name.

Part 2
Part 1
Parallel to the nature of the grimace present on your face shrouded by the umbra of the umbrella, the thunderclouds become bleaker and unwelcoming, complimenting the harsh pour of the rain on the city. In your mind, it could just get worse.
You tighten your grasp on the stem of your umbrella, the pressure of your grip making the veins in your wrist visible. To think you were enthused to spill the news to him, only to end up feigning the real one because you couldn't bring yourself to accept what must be.
You know he loves you, he loves you so much. He tells you 24/7. But that love is purely limited to hugs, small arguments, spontaneous fits of laughter, gentle pats on the back and forehead kisses. Compared to the almost spiritual connection he has with his fiancee. You've known and been around him longer than you could remember and yet, you're always several steps behind.
Well how else does platonic love compare to something romantic and sexual?
You stop in your tracks just half way through the wet sidewalk and stare at your reflection on a puddle beneath you. The tears dripping from your cheeks making bigger ripples on the puddle in contrast to the ones made by the rain. You sniffle, wiping your eyes quickly with your sleeve.
You hear a faint ring from your pocket and pull out your phone, seeing Lucy's name flash on the screen. You swipe the answer button and go on walking along the moist pavements.
"Hey Luce!" You blurt to hide the cracks in your voice.
"Y/N! Where are you right now? I just got back from a photoshoot and I want to hang out with you!" She giggles through the line and you keep your eyes ahead.
"Well I'm walking back home-"
"In the rain? You could get sick!"
"Lucy, relax. I'm covered up."
She sighs in relief, chuckling at her little mistake. "Sorry there. But mind if I stop by at your place?"
You don't think twice before answering, feeling the need to have some company. "Of course. Hurry up, I'm almost home." You aren't though, you're a dozen blocks away from your destination but you kind of want her to be there just in time for you to...vent.
You hear an audible slam echo from the line, almost coming off as a car door slammed close. "I'm on the road, I'll see you, Y/N!" You hum in response, your mouth curving slightly to the side. "You too, Lucy. Drive safely."
She bids you adieu for the meantime and you pick up your pace along the streets, careful not to glide recklessly over moist surfaces. The rain is not going to lighten very soon, you're sure of it.
As soon as you step foot into your living room after drying off, you are welcomed by a laid-back version of Lucy seated on the couch with a can of Mountain Dew in hand. You chuckle softly at how mellow she's positioned during such a weather, even more so at her choice of beverage.
"You're late." She shakes her head at you, pretending to be upset.
You shrug out of your coat and drape it over your shoulder, trudging to her and crouching down to hug her. "I am so sorry I left almost too quickly last night though."
She pats your back, letting a 'tsk' slip past her lips. "You are lucky Gwilym was there to accompany me."
"Hmm, he's not mad at Joe and me, is he? " Pulling away, you joke a little to cheer yourself up.
"No," she takes a sip of her can and puts it on the table, "in fact he's furious." This could be a little enlightening, a chat with Lucy to shed a beam of light on your mood. You take a seat next to her and begin your conversation. It's not much except that it's full of what happened at her photoshoot, the promotions she is required to attend, a few people she's had a little beef with and apparently her planned getaway with Rami to France. The topic is almost unilateral but you always take genuine interest in everything she says. Notwithstanding the fact that she constantly groans at the mention of the situations she underwent, you both still take a laugh out of it.
It's Lucy, she's a fascinating person with a fascinating life. You sometimes even wish you had her glam and eye for fashion.
She moves a lock of her blonde hair away from her forehead and looks at you curiosly. "Okay enough about me, what went on with you this week?"
You shrug, in an attempt to recall anything at all. "Not much. New Year's was a blast and last night's party was another thing," you turn your glance to your shoes, a frail smirk ghosting on your lips, eventually turning into a hopeful beam as your acceptance into the medical school flashes in your mind, "and... I got accepted into the medical school I applied for."
Lucy's eyes snap wide open at the news. "Shut up," she grabs you by the shoulders and gapes at you with eyes sparkling like they just found a heap of treasure, "you applied for medical school?" The slight disbelief and utter amazement can never be any clearer in her voice.
You nod happily and without warning, Lucy pulls you in for a tight hug, squealing at your success. "Oh my god, that's amazing! When did you get the letter? Have you told anyone?"
"I was sent an email from the institution this morning and told my parents and Joe about it soon after."
Lucy shifts on the couch, sliding her hands over her lap. "Which medical school though?"
"It's outside the country."
"Have you told Ben? "
With her question still hanging in thin air, you pause for a while before turning your head to her, shaking it slowly.
"Why?"
You stand up and head for the kitchen to grab a glass of water, your action confusing Lucy. "Y/N, are you okay?" She asks and you return on cue with your glass in hand. You let out a soft exhale and descend onto the couch. "I just...dont want to make him worry."
"Worry and Ben aren't exactly two words that mingle well. Solely in the context of a great news such as your acceptance."
"Of course, but I don't know how long I'll be gone." You notice your voice dwindle down to a whisper with the cast of your gaze to the side. The look on your face is deciphered by Lucy who's somehow adept at reading expressions, the blank that is your face making it easier for her.
And she suddenly knows what those furrowed brows mean. "There's something you're not telling me, Y/N. Just say it. I mean...even if you don't say it, I already hinted at it." She slides a hand over yours and you slowly turn to her, your expression becoming mildly stark. Of course she'd have a guess and it's only fair that she knows, she could help you get over it.
Your lips part but quiver as you try to find the right words. "I love him."
Lucy's gentle hold turns into a light squeeze, an indication of her comforting you. Her lips curve into a tender yet sad smile as she draws you in close again.
No matter how hard you're trying to let the tears fall, it just doesn't. It hurts but your tears aren't present to highlight that churning burn. Against all the odds to have them resurface in your eyes, you dip your head onto her shoulder and just squeeze your eyes shut. You mumble languidly on how it was an impulse to lie about your acceptance to Ben after he had broken the news about his engagement to you and soon after you had the thought that he would slowly forget about you once he and Rosy marry, and that your friendship wouldn't matter in the long run. As the decision that it'd be best if you go without him knowing, thinking it would make it easier for you to move on.
Lucy clears your face of your hair strands, staring at this once hidden, broken side of you. "I'm so sorry. I know this might not change a thing but you must tell him. He would never forget you, you're like the first person on his mind when he needs someone to talk to."
"Rosy's his life-"
"Y/N, don't demote yourself to a third party. You're more than what she is in his life," a brief pause from Lucy followed by a heartwarming emphasis, "you're his soulmate."
That word always meant something different to you. It involved a deep, romantic relationship but with how Lucy uttered it, it now means something entirely new. But you can't bring yourself to believe it. It's not a concept that can suture the gaping cut left in you.
With the little emotional strength left in you, you smile, launching at her with another hug as a requital to her presence during a time as this.
"I know it hurts...but- bloody, that's what love does to everyone."
--- (Apparent time skip 👀)
Amidst the hectic schedule your job has burdened you with throughout another week, never once have you faltered in between. You've gotten tons of invites to get-togethers during your weekend from friends yet out of the fear of losing all concentration on your duties, you turned them down politely. The second week of a new year means a new batch of spine-cracking, workload for everyone with jobs.
You're doing all this to save up for med school and it's something you tend to prioritize first and foremost. And regarding med school, you are to leave a month before enrollment to ensure your documents are in tacked and get served first. Since a few days before first semester arrives, enrollees would be lining up from different backgrounds and classes would be heavily filled. You have weeks left before your departure...and still, you haven't told Ben the truth...or talked to him in days, at least. For all you know, he could be on a tour, at a conference, an awards ceremony that you don't know of- certainly not the Oscars since you've been told that it's scheduled on February. He's probably busy enough to have other things in mind.
You discard the distraction and go about your business in your work area, with the intention of letting it purposefully distract you.
Minutes close to your dismissal, one of your co-workers strut in to invite you to have a drink with them. You could do no more than turn her down politely but with regards to the strain you've put yourself in with work, she insists and demands that you don't hesitate.
"But-" You try to protest, only to fail as she cuts you off. "I beg of you. Just for tonight."
"Tonight?"
"Yes."
You lightly clap your hands on the desk, springing from your chair with your head lightly tilted to one side. You turn your head to the wall clock on your far left and bob your head. "Do we leave now?"
"Most certainly. Come on!"
You haven't sped out of the building that fast with your colleagues before, not that it's not the first time but it certainly feels like it with how relieved you feel to go out. You needed a distraction from your personal ordeal and you got it, in the form of a night out for a drink.
You hit the pub that's just right across the street for the sake of convenience, half expecting your night to turn out eventful. A light buzz from your pocket stops you halfway into the entrance and slightly indisposed, you fish your phone out from your pocket, holding up your index finger at one of your colleagues to take the message you've received. They stride in ahead of you as you read the message, a little surprised to know Joe's back in London in the favor of Lucy who had asked him to come back. He's asked you out for a dinner with his friend but you tell him you're out for a drink with your colleagues, to which he replies with, "Mind if we join you then?"
And of course, you invite him over. Traipsing through the near rayless place to find your friends, hilariously realizing you're walking to the beat of the music coming from the speakers, you do a double-take at the table to your near left, quickly covering your face and speeding away to continue your search as the sight of Ben with his mates and Rosy ruins the first half of your evening.
What a distraction from a distraction.

"Hey Joe, I'm going to get something from the car. Mind if I borrow your keys?" You ask Joe who's enjoyed a few drinks but hasn't intoxicated himself. He nods in a lousy way and fish his car keys from his back pocket, dropping it onto your open palm. "Bronze key."
"Thanks, Maz." You ruffle his fiery red hair and leave it a mess, making your way back into the kitchen and through the living room. You had expected to at least find Ben close by but he's probably somewhere else. The guests are gradually leaving anyway so that could be a good thing. Upon reaching the front door and swinging it open, you gasp breathlessly at the sight of Ben standing in front of you.
"Oh god, you scared me." You plant your hand on your chest as to catch your breath and punch his arm jokingly. He rubs his nape, chewing on his bottom lip as a playful smile dares to take form on his face. "Yikes, sorry, Y/N. You were little jumpy there."
"No kidding." You raise an eyebrow as you zip past him, in a rush to get to Joe's car.
"Wait, where are you going?" He calls out and you turn, juggling Joe's keys carelessly. "Just going to get something in Joe's car."
With the amused smile still plastered on his face, he glances sideways and strides over to your side. "I'll go with you."
"I think I'm capable of crossing the street, Ben." You fold your arms together yet to no avail he spins you around and leads you across the empty street to Joe's car, squeezing your hand. Your brows furrow at his eagerness but at the same time, you feel your blood accumulate in your face as the way his fingers entwine around yours triggers a weird spark between you.
However elating it feels, you wonder where Rosy is.
"I know, but I had to tell you something, right?" He looks at you over his shoulder with a lopsided smile and you nod, avoiding eye contact. Upon reaching Joe's car, you pull out the bronze key and unlock the driver's seat to retrieve your wallet from the dashboard.
Afterwards, you slam the door shut and secure the lock, slowly turning to Ben to prompt him to talk. He inhales sharply and shoves his hands into his back pockets. "See, I wanted some advice from you. And a little verbal encouragement." He averts his gaze from yours, leaning towards the hood of the car.
Your brows couldn't be any more higher than they already are. "Did you and Rosy bicker?"
"No. But yes. It is about Rosy." It's almost as if he nearly hesitated to say her name but you could've been just hearing things. You encourage him to go on and he does, lacking the will to look you in the eye thereby giving you the inkling that he wants something to progress between them.
"Thing is, do you think I'm ready?" He finally looks at you directly and you smirk. "Ready for what?"
"For you know...that life."
"You're not making any sense, Ben."
He scratches the side of his nose and swears underneath his breath, letting out a faint chuckle. "I'm not good at this."
"Just build up the words right."
"Okay, do you think I'm ready for a new life with her? You know," and out of the fear that he might say the thing you now dread the most, you unconsciously hold your breath in, "settling down?"
It takes a good five seconds for you to fully comprehend the latter words and just as Ben is about to snap his fingers to bring you back to reality, you heave out a rough exhale and force a supportive smile at him. "If you want to, of course."
"What would I be like as a husband?" He just had to ask. Had he meant that in the fictional situation where you were in the place of Rosy, you would have a definite answer. But he's asking you as a friend. As someone who knows you and looks at you from a sibling-like perspective.
You feel yourself crumble from the inside as you open your mouth to answer. "You as a husband? Oh god, the horrors!" You joke to mask the pain.
He rakes his hand through his hair and plays along. "Come on, Y/N. Silly idea but I wanna hear it from you."
"Why me? Why not the girl who inspired you to ask this?"
He takes a light step forward and rubs your shoulders, having his green eyes burn through you. "Because you've known me longer."
Yes, I have. But why did you still pick her? The inner voice in your head cries out. The only rational thing you could do now is be here for him. As you always have. No matter how painful it is, you love him enough to support him with this.
"You as a husband? You wouldn't be perfect, " you pause to look down but after doing so resume, "you'd have your fights, temper tantrums and frankly, I doubt you could be a lot less messier in the morning."
"Y/N-"
"But your ability to love makes up for your imperfections, Ben. I know of Rosy's little episodes and despite her being a mess sometimes, being moody and hard to handle, you loved her regardless," you gently press your palm against Ben's cheek, caressing his skin softly, "you'd be the husband whom she'd wait for at the door every night."
Touched by how delicately you delivered your words, he takes you by surprise and hugs you tight. Your eyes widen for a couple of seconds before finally surrendering to his the beat of his heart, wrapping your arms around him too. No matter how bittersweet the situation is.
You've lived through Ben being that way. He truly is someone you'd always wait for at the door. Someone you wish to wait for.
"How come you're still single?" He asks amusingly and you look up to prevent the tears from falling. "I'm not."
Wait a minute.
Ben quickly releases you from his hold and his expression shifts instantly. "Who's the guy?" He asks you directly and you still haven't recovered from what you just said. In a daze, you ask back. "What?"
"You said you're not single anymore. Who's the lucky guy?"
Why did you say that? You haven't got a clue as to why, it was probably some kind of involuntary thing to fight back the hurt but now that there's no taking back what you said, you play along awkwardly. The somehow bright idea of pretending to be in a relationship to compensate for being in a hopeless situation popping into your mind.
"Um...um. Uh.." You can't think of anyone decent enough but luckily, and unluckily at the same time, you spot Joe jogging across the street over to you and reluctantly, you answer Ben's question.
"Joe!" You say out loud, catching Ben off guard and confusing an approaching Joe. "Hey...guys. What are you two still doing out here?" Joe, clueless to what you just said, asks.
You glance awkwardly at Joe and pull him close to your side. "Yeah, Joe and I are together." You say out of nowhere, making Joe do double-take at you to make sure he's hearing you correctly. Ben's eyes fall as a smile forms on his face. "That's awesome! Since when?"
Just as Joe begins to protest, you answer abruptly before he could utter a word. "Just last week. Sorry for not telling you earlier. We've dated for a while, often so when you and I don't hang out." You swear you could just toss yourself in the middle of the road and hope for a truck to run you over.
As being the only one who knows how you really feel about Ben, Joe seems to catch your drift instantly and what you're trying to pull, so he decides to play along.
"Is that right, mate?" Ben asks curiously and Joe nods in the most casual way possible. "Yeah. Been seeing this lovely girl for a while now."
"I see."
"Ben, darling! There you are!" You close your eyes as you hear Rosy call out from a feet across. Ben shrugs meekly before whisking past you and Joe in his way to Rosy.
"Hey babe, sorry. I was just helping Y/N with something." He smiles down at her. She gives you an almost curt glance and smiles back at Ben. "It's alright. Let's get back inside, it's cold out here."
"Yeah."
You apologize to Joe quietly for involving him in your mess yet he doesn't mind, as long as he's helping you get over it. You suddenly feel the need to get back home to recharge your batteries and escape the unwanted strains you get from seeing Ben and Rosy in each other's arms.
You walk towards them and huff. "Hey, uh, Ben? We better get going. I'm so sorry if I can't stay any longer but I have work tomorrow."
He turns his body to you fully and by the looks of it, he's quite disappointed that you have to go so soon. "Oh. Are you sure?"
You nod and he sighs, giving you one last embrace for the night. "If you have to. Thank you for coming and the gift. You have no idea how much it means to me everytime you're around." You ought to slap yourself everytime Ben says something that just breaks you into two. You rest your head over his shoulder and smile softly. "Of course. Thanks for the time as well. Happy Birthday again."
You pull away deliberately and give him and Rosy one last smile before walking back to Joe. He opens the driver's seat for you and you get in, clipping the seatbelt over yourself.
Accepting that you're now in the arms of someone as trustworthy as Joe, Ben smiles crookedly at him."Don't break her heart. That's just one rule, okay?"
"Never been one to do that. Don't worry." Joe reassures with a wink and gets in after you, the two of you waving at Ben and Rosy before driving off. You immediately take out your phone to text Lucy and Gwilym about your rush to leave the party. After doing so, you place your phone on your lap and cover your face with your hands.
"I'm curious, what prompted you to lie to him about being in a relationship with me?" As eager as ever to hold back a laugh, he asks, keeping his eyes firm on the road.
You throw your head back against the seat and tut. "He thought of proposing to Rosy."
"Seriously?"
"He didn't actually say that, per se. But he gave a clear hint. It didn't even seem like a hint."
"But what if he does propose," he adjusts his rearview mirror all the while stealing glimpses of you, "because I can tell you, when a guy implies like that, it's go time." You shrug weakly, "What can I do but be there for him? Yes it'll hurt, a lot, but seeing him happy is enough."
"Are you sure? You've known Ben longer, heck even loved him longer. Why didn't you ever tell him?" Now that Joe's brought up the question, you begin rethinking what could've been had you told him.
You didn't want to ruin what you already had. Your friendship with Ben was already considered a strong bond, it was on all levels...except romantic. You feared it might have just caused a riff in your relationship and damage what you've built with him through the years.
What if he does propose?
Would you still be strong enough to be around him?
You look out the window and trace your finger across the glass. "It's complicated, Joe."
"Okay," Joe exhales softly and raises his brows at you, pressing his lips to a hard line, "if you're tired, feel free to doze off. You look bummed." You smile at him and pat his hand that's on the gear lever, leaning against the window afterwards to take a nap through the drive back.
--
By the time you arrived home, you give Joe a kiss on the cheek and thank him for the night and particularly for saving your ass when you couldn't think of someone to name as your "boyfriend" at that moment. He bids you good night and drives off.
You kick the door to your apartment open and toss your shoes aside, flopping like a pancake onto the couch and feeling your phone buzz from your back pocket. You take it out and find one message from Lucy, two from Gwilym and...one from Ben.
You narrow your eyes as you skip the first, three messages to read Ben's and find yourself unwillingly tear up at one simple text from him.
Hhhh- Ben:
We finally found our soul mates like we once swore. Thanks for bein here, love. Good night, love you.
Your eyes gloss over those two words once more.
,love you.
If only he knew.
(Part 3 will be posted tomorrow...after I come out of the theatre wheezing uwu)
