The new Bonfire of Dreams scene in the Memorial Edition has a new Susumu Hirasawa song and I’m hoping to find a release of it somewhere so I can listen to it in full.
Very happy that Hirasawa is still making Berserk music. I hope he and Studio 4c continues the anime, they’re doing a great job with the Memorial Edition.

✮ tags. . a lot of sexual tension, suggestive, touch starved Wriothesley, gn reader. divider creds: cafekitsune.
Tumblr media
"I don't have an attitude, what the hell are you talking about?" Wriothesley, clearly with an attitude, barks as he points at you with the index finger of his left hand, his right at his waist as if trying to make a point with body language.
His nose is wrinkled, threatening to growl at any moment just like a cornered animal. Seeing him so defensive makes you scoff letting out a small chuckle, still gazing at him.
You take a step forward invading your boss's personal space, the elevator shakes with the weight of both of you and you have to control your body so as not to pounce on him in search of stability.
You mimic his previous position, one hand on your hip, another raised in front of you both, your index finger pushing against the hardness of his chest.
"You. fucking. do." You pause between each word. "And you need to stop doing that with me, you know I'm doing a good job." You were, Wriothesley is just being a dick lately and that attitude is getting under your skin. You don't understand what his problem is now. "You don't have to be breathing down my neck all the time."
"Don't touch me." He grabs your wrist and quickly pulls it down to an area impossible for your field of vision to see, he doesn't let go right away which is strange to you, his gloved hand slides over your skin, in a strange mix of softness and hardness.
You check his face, the marks, the small wrinkles at the corner of his lips made by the time of so much pursing, barely visible wrinkle marks on his forehead, once more ….. From so much puckering and you realize that beyond being your boss, Wriothesley is an attractive man and it's just that the barrier you've built up to ignore that fact though more than that he's a tired man, an exhausted man and you can see it perfectly now.
Wriothesley smells like he's walked all over The Fort, yet it's not unpleasant at all. Underneath the slight smell of sweat is the scent of his manly soap and shampoo that blends into a peculiar fragrance with the sweat. You take a deep breath to control your emotions, you don't want to start a fight and you definitely don't want to give space to that new emotion blossoming inside you, on the contrary, you need to drown it with a bad attitude and get away from him as fast as you can.
"Can you let go of me now?" at the mention of his grip Wriothesley looks down to verify that he is certainly still holding you prisoner close to him. It's just that before he can respond or let go of your hand, the elevator moves abruptly announcing the arrival at the top floor which causes you to end up losing your stability and tumbling towards Wriothesley who grabs you firmly by the waist to keep you from falling at his feet.
His fingers cling to your body inevitably calling you more to him and only inches from his face, with his minty herbal breath brushing against your nose you realize what the problem is.
"You're pent up." You affirm and exhale, your breath brushing against his mouth. Wriothesley doesn't bother to affirm or deny it, the same impassive reaction remains on his face, then you add with a slight shake of your head. "How long since you fucked?" It's like a jab, perhaps too direct and bordering on the intimate for the kind of relationship you two have.
Wriothesley could fire you if he wanted to at that moment, you expect him to push your body off him but that never happens, instead you feel his hand slide down your waist and hug you closer to him. His erection blatantly rubs against you back and forth, his hips barely moving in a rhythm with no specific pattern, answering your question.
You exchange glances with his eyes and lips, the tip of his tongue brushes his upper lip and your own mouth feels dry, you find yourself thinking how much you would love to suck on his tongue, so pink, so thick. You find yourself getting hot imagining how it would feel in the middle of your thighs.
Suddenly the elevator doors open and the hot steam and bustle of the Fort squeezes between the unbearable silence and the heat that was created between the two of you.
"Come to my office for tea, my treat."

I've been a bit of a salty spitoon over the recent events unfolding at NYCC so here's some GOOD news (sorta) >:00
I say (sorta) because I'm not a huge fan of mongie's work (or mongie herself) either, but DAMN if this lady doesn't know how to GET SHIT DONE-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like GODDAMN is there a lot to show for here \( ̄︶ ̄*\)
I don't know what the Let's Play After Dark or Omnibus works are, but it's really cool to see Linda Sejic's art here, I had NO idea what to expect when mongie announced she was going to NYCC and collaborating with Linda. I'm assuming Omnibus is likely a novelization or some kind of complimentary book to Let's Play because it has over 700 pages of stuff which is wild. Unless they just went and re-skinned the Volume 1 cover of Let's Play, I have no clue but it looks great. As for After Dark, yeah, again, no clue LMAO
Let's Play is returning in 2025, AND she's starting up a new series over on Manta (a publishing platform that's open to NSFW material which will definitely be better for mongie's work and will hopefully give WT a run for their money LOL) She hasn't stated yet where Let's Play's new home will be, but I'm assuming if it's not Manta, it might be a new independently-run site altogether, but again, we'll just have to wait and see. I remember her mentioning she wanted to do a fantasy series on her Patreon ages ago so it seems like she's finally getting the opportunity to do so. I have no idea what she's going to do with Let's Play after its S3 jump the shark finale LMAO
She's getting some merch made with BIOWORLD which is neat, though it'll be interesting to see how the quality comes out because the last creator I saw working with BIOWORLD was Smythe and the merch was uhhhh- not great. I posted about it on IG a while back but I don't know if I ever talked about it here so I'll def make that as a separate post for anyone who's curious.
But the BIG one - Let's Play is getting an anime, and it's from an actual animation studio which is a way bigger sign that it's a sure thing.
Again, I'm not a huge fan anymore of Let's Play or mongie in general, but I gotta give her credit where credit is due, she had WAY more to show for herself at NYCC than Rachel did, and the fact that she did all this after burning her bridges with WT, that's gotta sting for WT's and Rachel who still don't have anything to show for an animated TV show after four years. At this rate, there are gonna be more creators succeeding on a mass scale by choosing not to publish with Webtoons than those who did.
And who knows, maybe the anime adaption will tidy up all the problems original Let's Play had. It remains to be seen, but I think it's pretty neat to see mongie making such strides since she left the platform.
Something something, "I don't care if mongie wins, I just want Webtoons to lose" 😂

Kittens in Space
The first rule of keeping cats aboard a spaceship is don’t lose the cats on the spaceship. I know this. I know it better than the rest of the crew! I’m the Earthling here, the animal expert with actual veterinarian training, and I’m the one who brought them onboard. I told the captain with confidence that I could keep track of them.
Well, guess what I just did.
The problem was immediately obvious when I woke up. Every morning for the last few days had started with cutesy kitten pounces and thumps as they batted toys about the room. Sometimes I’d get a tail in my face; other times I’d hear a crash as they discovered how to reach another yet high shelf. Not once had I woken to silence.
Today I did. And as soon as I realized it, I sat up with a jerk to scan the room, my heartbeat loud in my ears.
Catnip mice and foam balls were everywhere. My shoes were still on the coat hooks; they hadn’t managed to knock them down yet. Nothing was swatted off the shelves. And no kittens lay on the floor dead after eating alien food, so at least there was that. But where were they?
I moved my feet toward the floor, disturbing a lump that meowed sleepily. Tapestry the mom cat was curled up on my bed; I hadn’t seen her. And now that I wasn’t jostling the blankets anymore, she curled back up for some hard-earned rest.
But no kittens. I stroked her tabby fur and looked for smaller balls of fluff, but found none. She didn’t seem worried. Hopefully that was a good sign. I stood and hurried to the bathroom.
My quarters were small, basically just the two rooms, since I spent most of my time with the rest of the crew. There really shouldn’t have been any good hiding spots that I hadn’t already blocked off. The bed didn’t even have space underneath it; that’s where my clothes drawers were. And I’d made sure the little fluffbrains couldn’t open those on their own, much less close them again.
They weren’t in the bathroom. Not in the closed-lid toilet, or the space-age shower stall, or the cabinet of supplies. Not in the trash can (again). They hadn’t gotten closed up in the foldable sink; I always left it sticking out of the wall. Where were they?
They couldn’t have gotten out into the hallway. No. Just not possible. I would have heard if someone inexplicably opened the door to my quarters without knocking, not that anyone would. Especially while I was asleep.
I told myself that there was no way they could be wandering the ship and getting stuck in the engine room. Mimi would notice animals hiding among his engine parts. Heck, the entire ship was bound to have someone around, ready to spot the furry little troublemakers, no matter how stealthy they were. I was pretty sure they resembled food on at least one homeworld. My crewmates weren’t the sort to hurt them, though; everyone knew full well that I had them here. The kittens wouldn’t be mistaken for pests.
Hopefully.
I really don’t want to announce to everyone that I’ve lost them, I thought, leaving the bathroom. They’ve got to be in here somewhere. What am I missing?
I surveyed the toy-covered room, trying for the umpteenth time to see catproofing opportunities that I hadn’t addressed.
Bed, bookshelf, other shelves. Bedside table with the lamp bolted down. Desk and chair. The litterbox was in the bathroom, with the food and water dishes along the wall beside me. There were no curtains to climb, and hardly any decorations, just the digital window with its chunky gold frame — someone’s secondhand idea of class — and the fake plants on the shelves. The bite marks on those weren’t new.
But the positioning was.
I stepped closer, staring and second-guessing, and yes they were definitely pushed out of place. And now that I thought about it, the digital frame was slightly crooked too. That spectacular alien sunset with the planetary rings in the background was out of alignment with the corner of the room.
Like someone stepped on it. Now where would they—
I froze in place, feeling stupid. Ah. Right.
Ever look at something so often that you stop noticing it? I may have mentioned that this was a spaceship. Metal walls, plasticky floors, no real windows.
A ceiling covered in twisty pipes.
I hadn’t considered catproofing the ceiling; it was too high to reach (ha), and surely not the kind of place that kittens would hide.
But as I stepped onto the bed and brought my face up close to the lowest curve, I realized that the faint engine sounds I’d long gotten used to sounded an awful lot like purring.
There they were. All five of the fuzzy little bastards were snuggled into a happy pile among the pipes without a care in the world. They meeped sleepily when I stuck a hand in.
“I can’t believe you,” I murmured. They ignored me.
The air was warm but not hot, and the pipes were vibrating faintly. While Captain Sunlight had assured me that there was no radiation to worry about, I figured it couldn’t hurt to double-check. Sleeping on top of the things could easily be a different prospect from sleeping in a bed below.
“All right, down for now,” I told them, scooping up the kittens despite their protests and setting them on the bed. “Be good little fluffbrains and sleep here while I — no? No, of course not.” They were already tumbling to the floor with strident mews for food. Tapestry stretched and jumped down as well.
I sighed and got out the cat food. If I was quick about it, I could get out the door before they tried to follow me. That net I’d tried to rig up as a baby gate hadn’t stopped them crawling under.
“Good kitties,” I said, tugging my shoes on as they ate. “You behave yourselves. I’m just going to make sure your favorite new hiding place isn’t going to give you extra eyeballs or something. Maybe I’ll set up a new shelf there so you don’t fall on my face during the night.”
I slipped out the door just as the first kitten finished eating — appropriately enough, it was the gray shorthair who Mimi had insisted I name after him. There weren’t any green cats in the litter, so gray was close enough.
“Meeeeee,” declared Mimi-the-kitten as the door closed.
“Yup,” I agreed.
Once I was sure the latch wasn’t about to pop loose, I took long strides toward the engine room. My heartbeat was totally calm and normal; why do you ask?

The ongoing backstory of the main character from this book. More to come!

Imagine: Band-Aid For A Broken Heart
Summary: After a breakup leaves you hurting, your best friends Chan and Minho want to help you cheer up and reconnect with your little side.
Pairing: Daddy!Chan and Mama!Lee Know x Reader (can be seen as platonic or lightly romantic)
Tumblr media
It had been a few days since you broke up with your partner and you felt absolutely shattered inside. You couldn’t remember the last time you got out of bed or went outside to get some sunlight, and you definitely couldn’t regress. Losing a partner is one thing, but losing a partner and your caregiver at once is another.
Your phone had been buzzing all morning with texts from two of your best friends, Chan and Minho, but you couldn’t bring yourself to answer or even look to see what they said. They would be helpful, probably, but it would’ve taken so much energy to explain how you were really feeling. A knock at your door took you out of your thoughts, and part of you brightened up at the idea of it being your partner to come apologize to you and fix things, so you got up to open it.
When the door swung open, Chan and Minho were standing there with a big shopping bag and sympathetic smiles on their faces. “Hey, sunshine,” Chan greeted. “Can we come in?” You nodded and let them inside.
“Sorry for such short notice,” Lee Know said. “We texted you when we were leaving the store, but we thought you’d tell us not to come if we told you too early. We don’t want you to be alone right now.”
“Thank you, guys.”
“We got you some surprises,” Chan announced. He unpacked the bag to reveal some of your favorite snacks, a fuzzy blanket, coloring books, and a stuffie of your favorite animal. He looked so happy until he noticed the slight frown on your face. “Do you like them?”
“Thank you so much, really,” you said. “It’s just that I haven’t been able to regress since it happened. It feels weird now that I don’t have a caregiver and I’m scared that little me would be confused.”
“We’re fixing that today,” Minho insisted. “Let’s get you into some clean, comfy clothes and get all this set up.”
Once you got changed, Chan followed you to the bathroom to help you wash your face. Even though you didn’t want to admit it, it was already helping. Feeling so cared for after feeling so unloved helped you relax, even though you were still a little scared to fully regress. After you were all washed up, Chan led you back into the living room, where Minho had set up a blanket fort facing the TV. There were coloring books, stuffies, and some of your favorite toys that he had snuck out of your room. For the first time in days, a real smile appeared on your face, even if it was small.
You crawled into the fort and took a closer look at your new stuffie and coloring book, while the boys followed along and sat on either side of you. One of them took the remote and turned on your favorite Disney movie, but you were too busy choosing a page to color to notice who.
“Do you like your new fort?” Minho asked.
“Mhm, thank you mama!” You froze for a second and pouted when you realized the carer name slipped out of your mouth, scared that it’d be too much or he wouldn’t like it.
“Aww, do you want to call me mama? You can, angel.”
“You can call me daddy if you want to,” Chan added, rubbing your back. “That way, you have a mama and a daddy taking care of you.”
You smiled, grabbing a pack of crayons to start coloring your picture.
After the movie, Chan checked the time and realized you might not have eaten today. “Little love, are you getting hungry? We can eat a little snack or order your favorite takeout, a meal would be good for you.”
“Takeout please, daddy,” you said with a small grin.
“Anything you want,” he smiled back, stepping into the other room to call the restaurant. Minho’s eyes followed him as he left, then he turned to you.
“Can I talk to you for a second, sweetheart?”
You nodded, moving to face him.
“I’m so sorry you’ve been hurting this week, I’m sure it’s hard to feel so many icky emotions right now. But I hope you never let the icky feelings stop you from being you, or stop you from seeing how special you are. You have such a big heart and you deserve all the love in the world, no matter who it’s from or if you feel like you don’t deserve it. You’re going to feel so much better soon, okay? And in the meantime, you have Chan and I right here.”
“Thank you, mama,” you hugged him. He kissed your forehead and held you tight, almost like he was pushing your broken pieces back together.

if u saw the new trailer whats ur opinion?
im very excited for skirk,,,,
OH BUDDY YOUVE OPENED THE FLOODGATES CUZ IVE BEEN SPAMMING MY FRIEND WITH THEORIES LIKE HFJDJDJDJ I WAS SCREAMING THE ENTIRE TIME
Obvious spoilers for the fontaine archon quest in general for my thoughts and interpretations
Okay FIRST OF ALL NEUVI SENTENCING FURINA TO DEATH.
Okay so refer to what neuvi said at the end of Act 4 where 'all sovereigns are not im full dragonhood and it can only happen IF THEIR ARCHON DISAPPEARS'. I was hoping that Furina would somehow relinquish the gnosis or her godhood to Neuvi to let him be full dragonhood and stop the flood and WELL THIS LINES UP.
1) arlecchino did say furina was not archon like or has something wrong with her, 2) her playable character model HAS A VISION!!!!!!! 3) Iirc but her promo art, the one with the white bg with nation symbols on it, people say that it didnt have the symbols an archon would.
She's DEFINITELY losing her godhood here somehow and man. MAN IM SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW THIS PLAYS OUT
Second of all FURINA or should i say the HYDRO ARCHON as a whole
Tumblr media
She sounded MAD when she stated she wanted to use her own trial to show the world the true meaning of justice. This leads me to believe that focalors DOES have some sort of multiple sides/personalities to her. Especially with her announcing HER OWN TRIAL through the 3rd person.
Tumblr media
And well one of these sides is either Egeria's manifestation or furinas actual 'TRUE lady justice' side. A bit of a stretch but one of the official art in the livestream is multiple depictions of furina so it can be a lil nudge ya know.
Tumblr media
NEUVILLETTE!!!! NEUVI NEUVI NEUVI!!!
MAN ID KILL TO SEE THIS MAN IN ACTION FULLY ANIMATED, LET HIM BE FULL DRAGON AND KICK ASS!!!!! IM BEGGING YOU HOYOVERSE LET HIM BE MORE AWESOME!!!!
Okay this man definitely was acquainted to Egeria in some way and this extends to Furina as well (BECAUSE HE LOOKS SO SAD LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO CRACK THIS MANS FACADE). I like to believe that Egeria and Neuvi might have a sort of Mentor/mentee/passing of the torch relationship. Because in so far everytime we hear Egeria, she talks to neuvi as if to hope that he will learn to understand humanity or learn his purpose or find SOMETHING (i forgot exactly what she says). But yeah he clearly holds her to high regard and that sentiment might extend to furina either because Egeria entrusted Neuvi with Furina, his loyalty to Egeria and Fontaine, or Furina just reminded him of Egeria and regardless of the trial still didn't want harm to come to his archon.
Okay a step back, we know that neuvi has holes about his past when he came to the world as the sovereign successor. And his line (i think its his idk) 'i seem to remember now... this trial is...' could be a call back of something Egeria told him from the past.
I firmly believe that this prophecy was actually a trial for NEUVILLETTE and not FURINA. It could be a final trial for him and his understanding of his position as chief justice and humanity. WHICH would tie into Egeria's line
Tumblr media
and neuvi's line
Tumblr media
Finally the GNOSIS
Okay the most obvious place is in the Oratrice. I feel like because Egeria isn't truly dead (from the who Amrita thing), it's possible that she lives in the Oratrice where she guides Neuvi and Furina. That's why it seems like it has its own conciousness and agenda. It's why it falsely accused Childe (and presumably Furina too). It might be why neuvi i think says this.
Tumblr media
Anyways theres NO WAY the gnosis is staying in the oratrice lmao. There's bound to be a power transfer, the oratrice might be dead or dismantled because of its previous 'wrong' accusation for childe. And well im very much hoping it goes to Neuvi where he'll finally have his own meaning of Justice and no longer needs the assistance of the Oratrice to make judgements
I dont have much to say about Skirk, im most certainly looking forward to skirk childe interaction. Im guessing shes there at the abyss side either for the Narssizkruenz (fack spelling) ordo relation or well.. the gnosis. Im taking a random guess that she and the abyss might take away the gnosis to prevent celestia from descending early because fontaine is giving back the power they stole from a sovereign back to him.
ANYWAYS IM HYPED IM SO INSANE WAAAAAAAAAA

to justboredorso21's screen shot: "Cast: Jill Harris, Monica Franco, Edward Bosco, Mick Lauer, Faye Mata..." THE ABSOLUTE SHADE GIVING KATIE KILLJOY LISTING OVER ANGEL JUST TO BURY MICHEAL. I want to say they wouldn't repeat the pilot because that would be insane but its interesting the pilot is 31 minutes and the episode run time is 31 minutes. I would have expected it to be reanimated in the new animation style with the new character designs and VAs to not confuse new viewers picking the series up on Amazon for the first time. (as well as to accommodate for the VERY changed story so there wont be story telling inconsistencies)
but... wouldn't it be SO CRAZY if she kept EVERYTHING the same and just dubbed over Micheal with his new VA. I would LOVE to see the fall out of that. People would lose their minds and at this point it feels like something Vivziepop would do even though there is no way in hell to explain that away... other than maybe 'Micheal didn't give us permission' which puts a lot of unwanted attention on Micheal who's been trying to stay out of all of this. The most likely explanation for that screenshot though is its a random placeholder because people bought the packages before the VAs and other details were announced and they used the pilot details for the template. (dumb choice though because it causes all this speculation) It could also be her way of hinting these are the pilot VAs who are returning to make other little camos as side characters
This may all just be speculation at this point, but it's definitely fun to speculate.
I want to say the Katie Killjoy listing is pure coincidence, but can you just imagine the level of pettiness if it wasn't?

some long-ass thoughts on watcher and dropout
for the record, i've enjoyed both of their work. i won't talk abt it much in this post, but it's very interesting how people kind of view shane's performative anti-capitalism making their consumption of ghost files a reflection of their own politics. then, a business making a business decision feels much more personal, because an aspect of your morals has just betrayed you. instead of just losing access to media you enjoyed, you just lost a reference point for your identity. Dropout is very mildly more aware of their function in capitalist society when they make anti-capitalist jokes, but the effect is still the same. the concept of supporting small business being an effective political action has obviously fed into, or perhaps came from, consumer culture. there's been a lot of "disappointment" in shane specifically, which is why i bring this up.
this post is a mess and i definitely used some of the wrong words, but i hope it makes some sense.
Watcher and Dropout have been compared alot as of late, of course both being attempted independent subscription based streaming services with a small host of content. dropout is cast as the good guy, the thing that watcher is striving for and failed at. I've seen several people joke about subscribing to dropout instead as a little fuck you to watcher.
A lot of people have genuinely asked what the difference is. Why is watcher bad and dropout good?
The most common answer i've seen is that dropout was pitched as a last effort to save a dying company, instead of the greedy money grab that watchertv feels like. dropout also offers a much larger cast, and many more shows, releasing new episodes monday through friday. Both of these things, however, are only true of dropout as of now.
Dropout was started two years before collegehumor's death, and it was only able to release as many shows as it is now very recently. It also didn't originally advertise itself as a final resort, rather "netflix- but worse!"
It didnt begin as a hail mary for a dying platform, just a new branch of an old one with no ads and more freedom. (Though it was a final resort later.) i think the biggest material difference between the two is that dropout always felt like an addon rather than an ambush paywall. later when it did become an ambush paywall, it felt justified. there was complete clarity over what would be on dropout and what would remain free on youtube.
this clarity was never present in watcher's announcement. I personally don't think watcher was ever planning on removing their free content from youtube, and they just worded it really poorly in their original video, but keeping new episodes behind a paywall is still enough to alienate their fanbase. the concept of them removing everything from youtube has stuck around despite their assurances against it.
the rest of the reasons why watcher went over so poorly is audience trust, yearly context, and marketing.
People had already followed ryan and shane from buzzfeed to watcher, so their trust had been tested before, resulting in them being more loyal, but still. I've seen a lot of people discussing their disappointment with watcher's content compared to buzzfeeds, which, everyone hates change so on and so forth, but most people are pointing specifically to the overproduction and the awkwardness. I had the same expeirence. I specifically remember watching an episode of too many spirits and realizing i was forcing myself to continue. It just felt like lipstick on a pig, hours of animation work on top of an awkward joke. I think there's been frustration with watcher's content building for a long time, and this poorly worded announcement is the straw that broke the camels back. i also don't think there was as much streaming service fatigue back when dropout was started as there is now.
It is entirely possible, given that they were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on post-production per video, that watcher needs more money to continue. I, as many do, would attribute this to poor financial decisions. However, i think they could've framed watchertv as a last resort for a company that fiscally couldnt continue on youtube and gotten away with it. they still would have gotten some flack for steven's tesla and gold-leaf pizza, but it wouldnt be the total takedown it is now.
Instead, in the video they simply talk about being to big for youtube. No stressing about money. It feels entitled. even in the apology, where they claim that watcher couldn't continue on youtube, the overt focus is not placed on money. Wether this was a decision to try and not sound too whiny and pandering, or it's that they genuinely could continue to work on youtube but want more freedom on watchertv, i'm not sure. either way, it worked out horribly for them.

So I actually have a Star Wars story to tell (it’s a core memory): Echo has always been my favorite clone trooper. My family, especially my brother and I, started watching The Clone Wars during season 1 and we became mega-fans (I was 9, he was 6, literally the target demo). Every Friday we’d watch the new episodes, then Saturday we’d go to star wars dot com and watch all the behind-the-scenes content. We missed the first time “Rookies” aired, but we saw the behind the scenes content for it, and caught it on reruns. We immediately knew Fives and Echo were our favorite clones, he picked Fives so I picked Echo. But we were so disappointed when they weren’t in the rest of Season 1 or 2. But we were absolutely stoked for the series 3 premiere when we heard Fives and Echo were in it. And then they were gonna be ARC troopers? We were losing our minds. Our favorite boys, ARC troopers‽ Unfortunately for me, the Citadel arc happened next. Don’t get me wrong, we loved seeing the Dominos in the phase 1.5 armor. But for some reason we missed the end of episode 2 of the arc (where Echo dies), and when the bts content said Echo died I was inconsolable. I refused to ever watch the ending of that episode for YEARS. When Fives kept showing up in seasons 4 and 5 (Umbara arc is like my favorite SW movie), I was always jealous that my brother’s fave was still around and mine wasn’t. Then TCW was cancelled and I thought that was the end of it.
About a year later, I heard they made half of a Season 6 but it was only on Netflix. It took me a while to figure out how to watch it (on the high seas, as my family didn’t have Netflix), but I was in high school now. The first arc having Fives discover order 66 and coming this close to exposing it? I’d been thinking about that kind of story for forever (my favorite Star Wars AUs are where order 66 didn’t happen or was disobeyed). I was so excited to tell my brother…until I saw s7e4 and Fives died. My brother was just as sad/mad as I was when Echo died. But I finished Season 6 and thought that was the end…until I went onto star wars dot com and saw that there were unfinished animations for some episodes called “the Bad Batch”. And then…my world became whole. ECHO WAS ALIVE!!!!! Sure it was janky af, felt dubiously canon, he had been thru hell and was now a cyborg, but MY BABY BOY! My brother was, of course, just as jealous that my clone was alive and his wasn’t.
Then 4 years later. TCW Season 7 was announced. The Bad Batch arc would be in glorious HD. Echo was firmly alive and hanging out with the Bad Batch. And he got me thru lockdown, as TCW was one of my comfort shows I’d watch and s7 was airing in April/May 2020. And the Bad Batch were gonna get their own show? Hell fucking yeah.
Here we are, 16 years after Echo first graced my small TV screen, and he’s still my fave. I see a lot of myself in him. How by-the-book he used to be and isn’t anymore, how his life fundamentally changed and now’s not exactly a man (I figured out my sexuality, gender, and disabilities in 2019 right before TCW s7 remastered Echo’s return). I would almost certainly die inside again if he dies in the TBB finale. Anyway I’ve never shared anything this personal about Star Wars with anyone and TBB tumblr definitely seems like the kind of people who want to hear this.

I've made a post about this before, but Guilty Gear Xrd's reveal might genuinely be the hypest gaming moment in my entire life.
Though most of my fandom was predicated on the back of the GBA port of Guilty Gear X, the trash-ass Wii port of vanilla Accent Core (played great, but it had next to no singleplayer content) and listening to the music on YouTube, I was HEAVILY invested in Guilty Gear. I knew there was some weird legal snafu with Sega, there was a palpable vibe that Blazblue was basically Arc System Works doing a second original IP to keep making fighting games after losing the rights to most of the Guilty Gear IP, and I feel like people had either made their peace with Blazblue or were sticking it out for a new Guilty Gear - even as the years rolled on and the prospects of a new game were looking more and more bleak. Like, these were the years where alongside Blazblue titles, ArcSys was pumping out budget shovelware for the WiiWare service. It was a bleak fucking time to be a Guilty Gear fanboy.
Before the Xrd trailer dropped, the last game of note was a weird 3D action game with two returning characters. It had a killer version of Holy Orders on the soundtrack, but the vibe was definitely off - and it didn't help that it was described as a sequel to the original Guilty Gear, as opposed to the X games kind of being their own subseries, and therefore being perceived as a new way forward for the series. People loved Guilty Gear for the expressive art, the high-octane soundtrack and the hard as nails 2D combat - Guilty Gear Overture tried its best to offer a satisfying replacement, but it couldn't really match up. And in the fanbase's minds, it was either Overture or a new fighting game that'd be in-name-only with a brand new roster of characters, Sol and Ky aside.
Then, one day, this happened.
youtube
This trailer wasn't just a triumphant return to form for the Guilty Gear series. This trailer was genuinely groundbreaking for the fighting game genre - and you need to look at this trailer through the freshest eyes possible to know why.
First of all - after Overture was this hard pivot into 3D action combat gameplay, Guilty Gear is a 2D fighter again. The second you see Sol and Ky facing each other after forty seconds of build-up, you know they're announcing a return to form. So that's one item off the bucket list.
Secondly, as a diehard Guilty Gear/ArcSys fan of the era, you know that Arc System Works makes sprite-based 2D fighting games. From the first Guilty Gear through to the most recent Blazblue game, core ArcSys games were all about those sprites. And this trailer intentionally plays on that; Sol and Ky look like remarkably high-definition sprites, even to the point of being animated in a more rigid frame-by-frame manner when you see them move. And even when they start fighting, it's these two great-looking sprites animating frame-to-frame, right?
But that shot where their swords cross, and the camera ROTATES AROUND THEM? That was GAME-CHANGING.
2.5D fighters were already very popular at the time. Mortal Kombat 9 had helped to breathe new life into this style of fighting game, and while MvC3 had a rocky launch, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 went on to have a huge, ravenous fan following. 2.5D fighters were on the rise, but everything developed in 3D explicitly looked 3D, even with cel-shading like in UMvC3 - and every game stuck fairly rigidly to the 2D plane. NOTHING was doing what Guilty Gear Xrd was doing.
The team deliberately played up the old style, making the player models look as close to the style of the true-blue ArcSys 2D sprite-based fighter as they possibly could. They deliberately set up that fade-in with Sol and Ky, they even animated Sol hopping away seamlessly to look like Xrd was a new sprite-based 2D fighter.
And then that sword-clash kind of signalled the direction of fighting games for the next ten years.
There are shots in this trailer where the swords are animated with smear frames, like they're a 2D sprite. That's because the team animated the 3D models LIKE THEY WERE 2D SPRITES. The models squash and stretch frame by frame, with each frame being modelled by hand, rather than the models animating smoothly based on an animation rig or anything like that. And NOBODY had thought to do that before. Animations before and after each round are clearly animated in a more conventional way, but the presentation during the fights is achieved by approaching the 3D style with 2D production sensibilities. It was borderline unthinkable at the time.
Then there's the stage background.
When the trailer first fades in, can you tell that the background has 3D elements? The chain is a bit conspicuous, but the house on the right and the ruined Statue of Liberty - can you tell they're modelled in 3D right off the bat? The team did a great job translating the lush, busy backgrounds of the former games into this new composite artstyle, and you only realise the scope of what the team set out to accomplish when the camera angle changes and you see background elements shift as seamlessly as the character models.
Then there's the music.
Guilty Gear has fucking VOCAL TRACKS now.
Unless I'm mistaken, the closest that Guilty Gear had gotten to vocals in the music were in Overture's version of Holy Orders (Be Just or Be Dead). But even that was relegated to vaguely religious-sounding chanting throughout the track, not having someone screaming a lead vocal over the song.
Here's the new Guilty Gear trailer. It's a 2D sprite-based fighter. Sol and Ky are there on a beautifully painted background CG, just like the old days.
Sol and Ky clash swords, and the CAMERA ROTATES AROUND THEM. These dudes are rendered in fucking 3D. Then this huge wall of rock music kicks in at full volume, punctuated by this huge metal screech, and some dude starts fucking SINGING.
Then one of them gets knocked into the air, and the PERSPECTIVE CHANGES - and the perspective of the BACKGROUND changes too! All the while, the vocalist is all like BACK TO BACK, DEATH COMES A-RIDIN' ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
And it's EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED FROM A NEW GUILTY GEAR, AND MORE.
And for the fans who've been writing off the prospect of a new fighting game for years due to the legal snafu between ArcSys and Sega over who owns what? The trailer ends with a tease for both Millia Rage and Zero-1, officially ending the embargo.
This is probably the closest I'm going to get to having a moment where I go from Street Fighter II being the only fighting game I ever imagined existing, only to one day discover Tekken. This trailer delivered on so many things I didn't even know were possible at the time, and it blew the competition out of the water. Again, that was mostly Mortal Kombat and Marvel vs. Capcom - Skullgirls is its own special case, but those devs went all-in on sprites; I think that game has the most frame-by-frame animation in any fighting game ever produced. This game had all the charm and flair of old-school presentation, married with cutting-edge production via Unreal Engine 4.
It was a 2.5D game that was borderline indistinguishable from a 2D fighter until the game shifted perspective and made sure you knew that the characters and environments were 3D. And somehow, the stylised 2D aesthetic managed to carry over nigh-seamlessly.
People were huge on Dragon Ball FighterZ, and rightfully so - that's a gorgeous game that's a total blast to play. It preserves the aesthetic and feeling of being in a Dragon Ball Z episode in its sound design, its visuals and through its overt references to the show - kicking dudes into mountains that are miles in the background, as well as actually being able to enact instakill moves that replicate iconic moments from the franchise. That game might be one of the best licensed video games of all time.
Dragon Ball FighterZ would not exist - at least not in the iconic form it exists in today - without the ground that Guilty Gear Xrd covered first. When a great work is acknowledged to have taken prime inspiration from a foundational earlier work, it can be said that even with its success, that work is standing on the shoulders of giants. DBFZ is a giant unto itself, with its shoulders providing a solid bedrock for future fighting games to stand on - but it's a giant standing on the shoulders of TITANS.
I would argue that Guilty Gear Xrd was one of the first games to show that you could capture the spirit of a 2D property in a 3D art style without having to reinvent the wheel beforehand to shoot for realism. Maybe SF4 made that successful transition years earlier, but Xrd just went NUTS with it, with zero compromises. I also think that this game's success, and the success that later games had in faithfully recreating the appeal and aesthetic of a heavily stylised property like this, makes the janky 3D outliers like Jump Force and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite stand out even more.
It's unquestionable to me that Guilty Gear Xrd was the perfect game reveal at the perfect time. This trailer fucking slaps, especially given the context behind it. I was there the day it dropped, and ten years later it still rings as such a power move to marry modern game development via rendering the characters in 3D with the iconic, stylised 2D presentation that the fanbase loved to death after fifteen years of Guilty Gear. And just knowing that they went the extra mile and animated the characters by hand to look like they jumped straight out of a 2D game - smear frames and all - and were the first developers to even think to attempt that in Unreal Engine 4? Iconic. Unmatched.
This game trailer means everything to me. It'll only age as time goes on and the things that made it special become commonplace - again, Dragon Ball FighterZ is a far more popular refinement of what Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- started - but having been there at the time? Seeing the Guilty Gear drought getting broken in such a genuinely groundbreaking and innovative new way, stepping out of the Guilty Gear hiatus on the best foot possible? Nothing compares to how incredible that was.
They could announce a brand new Jak and Daxter game tomorrow, and I'd probably still be too burned after The Lost Frontier sucked and multiple attempts to get a new Jak game off the ground have fallen by the wayside and let me down. Guilty Gear Xrd upped the ante more than any other game reveal I've ever seen, and it did it perfectly.
Compared to what came before this trailer dropped, I honestly think Guilty Gear Xrd might be my pick for the perfect announcement trailer.

Smut Prompt 56, with male reader and Randall please 🤩
Randall Carpio x Male!reader
Tumblr media
The one downfall to living in a house with all of your best friends was that it gave you very little privacy when it came to your… personal activities.
You guys were walking in on each other all the damn time but while the rest of the knights could get away to their significant others homes for alone time you and Randall didn't have those kinds of options.
In desperate times you've had to resort to going out and hooking up in the woods though you have been stumbled upon a few times by joggers who thought all those noises were coming from someone being attacked by a wild animal.
You and Randall hadn't had a moment to yourselves in over three weeks and he was losing his mind, sure you were just as frustrated as he was but Randall's sex drive is so high he would literally have sex five times a day if you let him.
It's friday night and Jack insisted everyone come over for a game night so you, Randall, Hamish, Lilith, Nicole, Gabrielle, Vera and Alyssa were scattered around the living room playing games for a few hours now.
Normally Randall would be enthusiastically spearheading the games but instead he had been giving you looks all night, wanting so badly to sneak off and do anything but play games.
"I think we're out of beer," you announce in the middle of a game, "Randall, you want to help me get some more from the fridge down in the basement?"
"Sure thing babe," Randall nods, throwing his cards down on the table and hopping up to follow you to the basement.
"They're going down there to hook up right?" Jack questions as soon as you're gone.
"Oh definitely," Hamish smirks.
"They at least better bring more beer back when they're done," Lilith huffs, finishing the last of her bottle, she did in fact want another beer but she was not going to get one herself and risk seeing you two fooling around after the incident a few months ago when she walked in on you riding Randall who was handcuffed to the bed.
Down in the basement you have Randall pinned to the wobbly table you guys use as a makeshift ping pong table, lips connected as your hands eagerly wander each other's bodies.
It doesn't take long for Randall to get a boner, he's practically had one 24/7 for the last three weeks and boy is he ready to finally get off to something besides his own hand, you may not have had any time lately to have sex but he certainly could always find the time to jerk off.
Randall groans as you drop to your knees in front of him, haphazardly unbuckling his pants and freeing his hard cock.
"Try to stay quiet understand?" You say looking up at him and he nods again, biting his lip to stifle the moans he wants to make as you gently kiss along his shaft.
Wasting no time you take him in your mouth, you figured your friends probably knew what you were really doing down here but you didn't want them to interrupt the one moment of privacy you finally get to have with Randall complaining about your boyfriend being too loud which has happened many times before.
Randall is biting down so hard on his bottom lip he tastes a slight tinge of blood but he ignores it as you expertly bob your head along his cock.
Fuck he could cum right now just from the way you're sucking him off but he really needs you inside him.
"Y/N, I need you to fuck me," he pleas.
You release him from your lips and get back to your feet, turning him around and quickly shrugging down your pants, Randall gasping the moment he feels your cock press against his ass.
You bend Randall over the table that you hope is stable enough to handle the weight and slip your cock inside, Randall clasping his hand over his mouth to prevent a loud moan from escaping.
There's no time for foreplay, literally and figuratively speaking as your friends are waiting for new drinks and neither you or Randall can wait any longer for an orgasm so you find a steady pace, thrusting into Randall with the intentions of cumming as fast as you could.
You'd make it up to him by taking your time and eating his ass for an hour or two some other day.
Muffled grunts are coming from Randall as you pound into him and with his free hand he reaches down to stroke himself.
In just a couple minutes he's cumming, spurting out all over the floor.
"Oh fuck," he groans and with a few more thrusts you hit your own climax, pulling out of Randall to let your cum join his on the floor.
"Fuck that felt good," you chuckle, looking for something to clean up the mess you two made.
Randall finds an old towel, dropping it to the ground and using his foot to move it around to wipe up the mess, "I've been so horny Y/N, I jerked off four times this week… or was it five… no it was definitely six."
"Well maybe if you're lucky everyone will be too buzzed after another round of beers to notice us sneak upstairs," you grin, kissing him chastely.
"Better yet, let's convince Hamish to break out his expensive whisky to make sure they get drunk," he suggests when you hear the basement door opening.
"Are you guys done banging out your sexual frustration yet we need more beer!" Gabrielle yells from the top of the stairs.
"We were not having sex!" Randall yells back thinking he could cover your tracks.
"We could hear the ping pong table hitting the wall genius you're not that sneaky," she quips.
"Hamish! Where do you keep the tequila?!" Randall states already needing to get away from your friends.

Does anyone feel really burnt out by everything needing to be part of a “Cinematic Universe“ now?
Mainly talking Star Wars and Marvel, but it does feel like everything new HAS to be part of one. I saw someone on twitter after the Mario movie came out who wanted that to have them also make movies for Metroid, Zelda, Kirby, etc, and have that lead up to a Smash Bros crossover movie. And like, why can’t they just make the Zelda or Metroid movie and have them be their own thing instead of being REQUIRED to tie into something else?
But with Star Wars, it is something that made me feel less interested in keeping up with Mando. I was enjoying season 2 as it was happening, but then the deepfake Luke Skywalker showing up at the end to remove all possible tension from that scene with the Dark Troopers, and all of the new show announcements they did afterwards made half of the season feel like an extended pilot for other shows. Book of Boba Fett ended up taking 2 episodes in the middle of the show to just forget about the main character of the show and cut away to what Din was doing instead.
I know a lot of people get into the crossovers and everything, but it feels like the hype for those shows can start to only be about which character from the cartoons or the novels will show up next. That these are just commercials for whatever product will come out in a couple months (definitely something that has made me lose interest in the MCU after Endgame).
I really enjoyed the Clone Wars and Rebels cartoons, I wish Star Wars would do more with animation. But I don’t really enjoy feeling like I have to watch all of these different things just to understand one thing. If I am watching an Ant-Man movie, I just want it to be about Ant-Man and the characters related to him instead of being some massive thing for the whole MCU multiverse thing with Kang they have going on.
And going back to Rebels, I also wish the Ahsoka show could’ve been done in animation instead of having to recast the entire returning crew from Rebels for live action.
It all just feels so constricting towards creating interesting and new stories too. Instead of being free to create whatever you want, you have to put in an episode to one of the D+ shows that ties into one of the other new D+ shows that will be out in a few months or one of the movies. Makes it feel like more of a chore keeping up with them too.
Its a big part of why the thing with Wars I have enjoyed the most outside of the new trilogy since Disney took over was the Visions anime shorts. They didn’t have to worry about being tied down by the canon, they didn’t have to connect to each other. It was just creative people playing around with the Star Wars universe and telling standalone stories that were interesting to them.
Done rambling now, don’t know how many people feel the same way as me. But I hope we get more standalone stories.

Could Mitchell Peterson solve the Kira case?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just a dumb thought I had - since Mitchell is a detective (well, a wannabe detective), could he solve the Kira case?
Light Yagami is the protagonist and villain of the anime series Death Note. He can kill people using a notebook called the Death Note. Because of his mass killing sprees, he became known internationally as Kira, which means "killer," but no one knows that Light is Kira. Throughout the series, Light plays cat-and-mouse games with detectives who are trying to figure out who is Kira.
So, if Death Note and Ready Jet Go took place in the same universe, could Mitchell find out that Light is Kira?
(For the sake of the argument, let's forget that RJG and DN take place in different countries)
Things to consider:
Mitchell is actually not that good at solving cases on his own. He only solved his cases in episodes like "Detective Mindy" and "Mindy's Mystery" because the other kids helped him. Whenever he tries to figure out if Jet is an alien, he always loses the evidence/no one believes him.
Mitchell is a child, probably around 5-7. Due to RJG, being a kids' show, he mostly focuses on exposing Jet's alien identity and not murder mysteries, which would probably taint his innocence. But given that he is a fan of Sherlock Holmes (see "Jet's First Halloween," "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion," "Sean's Robotic Arm") and has canonically read Treasure Island, a book with murder in it (see "Treasure Map"), he definitely knows what murder is, and would likely be eager to take on such a big and serious case.
Light has no scruples. He will do anything to achieve his goals, purge the world of what he perceives to be "evil," and become the "God of the new world." While he never kills any kids in the series, he would most definitely kill one if they got in his way.
How does the Death Note work? To kill someone, you have to write their full name in the notebook, and if you want, the way they die. Otherwise, they die of a heart attack. The Death Note only works on humans. Mitchell is obviously a human, and he has something of a habit of announcing his full name. Take these choice quotes from Space Camp: "0900 hours. Mitchell Peterson leaving for Space Camp where I will observe Jet Propulsion and record more proof that he is an alien." "1600 hours! Mitchell Peterson reporting to Dr. Chandra."
In conclusion, Mitchell has a very low chance of solving the Kira case (by himself), and could even be killed. But he COULD solve it with the help of Jet, Sean, Sydney, and Mindy - none of whom are at risk because it is doubtful that Light would know their full names, and Jet is not human.

“Siegfried will be playable in this month’s online beta! Also, neither Siegfried nor Anila will use charge inputs.”
-Q2: It seems there are quite a few new mechanics that utilize the SBA gauge. How will the game be rebalanced to account for these changes? Will the Overdrive system use the SBA gauge or Bravery Points in Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising?
“Rush, Backshift, and Overdrive won’t be returning in Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising. Though we haven’t changed our philosophy of creating the definitive introduction to fighting games, we’ve revamped gameplay and created all new systems to explore. In a previous teaser we showcased an action that looked like Rush, but that was actually part of a prototype system. It was omitted during development and later reborn into Raging Chain—sorry for any confusion!”
-Q3: I noticed some fighting games have guest characters from other titles. How likely will we be seeing that in Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising?
As for guest characters, they asked the crowd specifically who they would like to see and are taking all possibilities into account.

My Favourite Single Player Video Games I Played in 2023
(Inspired by @a-shrieking-cloud-of-bats' post)
Disclaimer: most of these games are relatively well-known/popular, and at least a few didn't come out this year, but these are all games I played this year that had a lasting impact on me.
In no particular order:
Dredge
I was interested in this from the initial trailer, and the final game definitely delivered. You play as the new fisherman of a tiny island town, making ends meet while uncovering uncanny secrets beneath the waves. The gameplay is fun and involved (a mixture of time and inventory management) but easy enough to master. The main elements that have stayed with me are the visual style and score/sound design, both of which really lift the game's atmosphere - it's almost relaxing at times, but never quiiiiite loses that edge of unease.
Book of Hours
I was (am) a big fan of Cultist Simulator, so Book of Hours was one of my most anticipated titles this year. The fantastic tone and writing of CS is still present, really putting these games in a league of their own. The gameplay is still faithful to the first game's style and mechanics, but also branches out in a lot of fun ways - the far more detailed and lively board of Hush House and the nearby village add a much more solid setting. One small issue I take is that the systems and learning curve for BoH are just as complex and involved as CS, but without as much ability to start over and apply new knowledge - BoH is designed to be a single longer playthrough rather than multiple "runs", which might mean you find yourself a good number of hours deep before realising you've been engaging with the mechanics wrong the entire time. This is partly why I'm still to complete the game; I do still look forward to doing so eventually, though.
Darkest Dungeon II
Darkest Dungeon is one of my favourite games of all time. I've played the sequel ever since it first entered early access in 2022, and while I understand why a significant number of DD1 fans seemingly weren't too fond of it (the overarching gameplay is fairly different from the first game, taking a much more roguelite form reminiscent of Slay the Spire) I got on with it well, even moreso since the game's full v1.0 release this year - the progress and updates made throughout early access were really encouraging to see, and the finished game is a very worthy sequel that also works as a standalone title. The transition from static 2D sprites to fully animated 3D models, while maintaining the iconic and unique artstyle of Darkest Dungeon, is also really impressive.
The Case of the Golden Idol
I've been aware of this game ever since watching a stream of the first couple chapters a year or so ago, but was inspired to pick it up myself after the announcement of a sequel at this year's Game Awards (maybe one of the few games announced there I'm genuinely excited for). I don't scratch my puzzle game itch enough, and Golden Idol has made me keen to seek out more - solving a series of interlinked "mysteries" via observation of the environment and participants to obtain words and clues which you then piece together on a separate screen. I got through the game and both DLCs in around 3-4 days, but consider that time very well spent based on the number of genuine "eureka" moments I experienced alone.
Other Games I Played and Enjoyed: Return of the Obra Dinn, Receiver, The Binding of Isaac (Rebirth/Afterbirth/Repentance)
Multiplayer Games I Enjoyed/Am Currently Enjoying: Lethal Company, Party Animals
If you've read this far, thanks very much! This is mostly a personal record to look back on, but please feel free to pass on any recommendations or let me know what your top games were this year.
And With That, the Game of the Year 2023 (and Every Year Hereafter) is: OUTER WILDS
