what are your top ten fav bl's of all time?
Hey Anon! I had to take some time to think about this. It's hard for me to choose things like this! You're really putting me on the spot lol. Here we go tho...I might cheat a little.
To My Star. Both 1 and 2. I love Seo Joon's and Ji Woo's story. I love their relationship dynamic. I loved how protective they were of each other. Both Ji Woo and Seo Joon are complex characters with layers that you can really bite into and analyze many ways. I know a lot of people were not fans of s2 but that was one series where I truly ate up the angst. Ji Woo is a hard character to understand unless you really take the time to watch the series and focus on his behaviors. You'll never, ever catch me talking bad about TMS.
Tumblr media
Gameboys the Series. Both the seasons and the movie. CaiReel have such a modern and relatable love story. I think it being a series about finding relationships in the middle of a global pandemic while we were ALL sharing the same plight really stood out. I felt like I made new friends while watching that series. Also for s1 to be shot completely on an iPhone and for most of the actors to not actually be filming their scenes at the same time, I was BLOWN away by the quality AND chemistry. That series made me SOB and that is also something I consider impressive. If it can make me cry then it's certified gold.
Tumblr media
Utsukushii Kare. Both seasons and the movie. This is another series with complex main characters. Hira deals with his general uninterest in damn near everything EXCEPT Kiyoi and photography. And Kiyoi deals with his need for attention even if he generally doesn't like people because they always disappoint him. It's interesting to see how they handle their seemingly unbalanced relationship. Hira is willing to give Kiyoi all the love he requires and not get close (which is normally what Kiyoi wants) and Kiyoi learns that with Hira he wants a real true love and relationship and that's quite a task when the man you love doesn't value himself. It's just interesting seeing the growth between them.
Tumblr media
Color Rush S1. I love the way they tackle the soulmates trope, and explore the darker side to the obsession that could happen once you find your perfect match ESPECIALLY when that match can help you see a full picture. Yeon Woo struggles with a myriad of thoughts and fears as he does his best not to get close to Yoo Han even though Yoo Han is serving up himself on a silver platter with tantalizing promises of helping him learn the colors he craves to see. Yeon Woo becomes obsessed, but little does he know that Yoo Han is also obsessed because Yeon Woo also helps Yoo Han see a clearer picture. But maybe that obsession is really just them falling in love and not knowing what to call it.
Tumblr media
Moonlight Chicken. Messy and relatable to a person like me who is smack dab in the middle of the age groups involved. This series really showcases how messy romances can be. It shows how hard it can be to close the door to a chapter you thought would end happily. This series shows how hard it can be to move on when a normally open door shuts in your face suddenly and forever. It shows how a chapter that starts off terrible can lead you into the most thrilling moment of your life. It shows that the last chapter you finished might have you TERRIFIED to move on to the next one. Stuck. This was a series I found difficult to dislike any of the characters even if they were being terrible. Emotions were high and reactions were warranted. This was a series where I felt like people were allowed to feel the way they were feeling.
Tumblr media
We Best Love. Yes, both seasons. Shu Yi and Shi De had such an up and down ship. Shi De went through such a roundabout way to get close to Shu Yi and I really enjoyed watching them become friends. I enjoyed watching Shu Yi come to realize he was in love. I wanted to beat Shi De up in s2 for ghosting Shu Yi and I was enjoying watching Shu Yi get his lick back, but really he was just looking for answers so he can decide if he was stupid for wanting to forgive Shi De the moment he saw him again. It's another fun and messy series.
Tumblr media
Lovely Writer. I LOVE Gene ok. He really made me love the series because he was such a bomb ass character. I also found Nubsib's psycho/stalkerish tendencies quite entertaining because he was so polite about it. I love that the series took stabs at all the things wrong with the BL community while simultaneously having the main character be an actor in one of the most toxic fake BLs I've ever seen. Just meta on top of meta. Satire in the form of a trendy BL within a BL.
Tumblr media
History 3: MODC. Salt run aside, I just really loved this series. Can't believe a series about the shy kid falling in love with his bully is a fave. That sentence alone would make it problematic af...not to mention the questionable age gap between the 2nd couple. But it was beautifully constructed. Hao Ting found the best version of himself in Xi Gu and Xi Gu found a brighter side to life with Hao Ting. And they were WAYYYYY into each other and Hao Ting did put in his work to be forgiven. I do my best not to overthink Zhi Gang's age difference from Sun Bo because it's such a norm in Taiwanese BL. It's kind of interesting to see their relationship play out. Zhi Gang definitely has his hangups with the age gap and Sun Bo just doesn't care.
Tumblr media
Blueming. Such a laid back series. Si Won is just a sweetheart dealing with self-esteem issues trying to make his presence known in life so he can get the best out of his university experience. And Da Un is just that effortlessly cool guy Si Won strives to be like. He can't even fathom the idea of such a cool guy having a crush on him that he takes the flirting as arrogance lmao. I think it's sweet that Da Un helps uplift Si Won and I think it's sweet that Si On showed Da Un the attention he never got at home.
Tumblr media
Ingredients the Series. Just a sweet lil slice of life miniseries. It fills me with joy to watch Tops and Win pine after each other as Win works on his music and Tops works on his cooking and they live together symbiotically. There's not too much to this series. It relies heavily on food and chemistry and that's perfectly perfect for me.

Jordan and Marie are so iconic but so unexpected. When that hallway scene happened where it’s implied Jordan likes Marie I was blown away. I never saw it coming but after rewatching I see that it was very subtle but there in hindsight. Their chemistry is crazy. Marie has good chemistry with both London and Derek.
RIGHT????
like, the hints leading up to the hallway scene in episode four are VERY subtle, but they’re still there!!! the tension between them was INSANE which is why i can’t take ppl who say it “came out of nowhere” seriously bc it is not hard to see there was already attraction between them.
1. the club scene in episode one. jordan couldn’t take their eyes off marie in that one scene and DIDN’T until andre caught them staring (you all know what i’m talking about…yeah, she’s cool)
Tumblr media
2. episode two, when jordan confronts marie about taking all the credit, there was MEGA TENSION especially when jordan grabs marie’s arm and she turns around to jordan who has shifted…marie had the SAME look on her face then as she did in the hallway scene after the whole “since when do you care about anyone not named jordan” exchange. girlie was having a mini sexuality crisis then and there and you can’t convince me otherwise.
Tumblr media
3. episode three, i mean we can all talk about the tension between them when jordan walks in the gala, glaring at marie, but i’ve always loved the scene after marie and cate are bonding over similar trauma and jordan tries lightening the mood with a joke about killing their grandpa. marie’s suprised giggle and then the SMILE jordan gives her in response????? they were GONE for each other by then they just kept denying and ignoring it.
Tumblr media
AND THIS ISN’T EVEN ALL THE EVIDENCE!!
there are plenty of other little moments and exchanges that definitely hint toward a marie and jordan romance, these are just the most glaringly obvious to ME. and while i do admit that i think limoreau may have been a little bit rushed this season, for anyone to say it came out of nowhere would be a straight up lie.

POTO LONDON 16/03/2024 CHUMISA’S 3RD SHOW!! - REVIEW
(Audio will be gifted soon!)
I had booked this trip before Chumisa was announced to be taking over as alternate the day before so I was kicking myself I just missed her first show, I had heard clips of her online and she sounded incredible and lots of people were raving about her.
I went to the show expecting Eve or Colleen to be on as Lily had been off the Thursday and I didn’t think Chumisa would have done 2 shows directly after her debut BUT low and behold her name was on the castboard however I was a little skeptical as there has been a few times where it’s been incorrect.
During the Hannibal ballet Chumisa came out and I was so excited!! She looked gorgeous in the costume and wig! I also got the pleasure of seeing Lily as Carlotta again who was also brilliant, during Carlotta’s think of me Chumisa was in awe of her and just as the cloth was about to drop you could sense that she had sensed the presence of the phantom.
She began think of me and had a lovely vibrato to start off and then she delivered an unbelievable rendition of the song! So elegant in the way she moved in the Elissa skirt and so smiley like her Christine couldn’t believe her luck! Her cadenza was angelic to say the least so floaty and the high note so strong!
Her chemistry with Joe in the dressing room was so so good she played Christine like a total giddy teenager which really worked!
Her title song was lovely she has a great lower register for the beginning and then her cadenza was BEAUTIFUL and really powerful!
Perfect acting in music of the night played Christine with so much curiosity she was just fascinated by the phantom, her facial expressions and again so elegant in the way she moved!
The unmasking again just great acting and she held the note when singing “who’s is that face in the shadows…who’s is that face in the maaaaask” tiny detail that I LOVED
In the rooftop she was not having any of Raoul’s BS she completely stood on her own and almost seemed to be like well if you don’t believe me see ya later!
All I ask of you was brilliant! Again their chemistry was so palpable one of my fave performances I’ve seen of that song!
Masquerade again her little acting choices were so solid it was as if she was searching for the phantom in the crowd! Notes/managers 2 she stood up to Carlotta really strongly and when she got to Twisted every way you could see her Christine totally break down like she had nothing left to give, truly wonderful poignant acting choices!
Her wishing was SOOOO GOOD she relied a little more on her belt which I imagine she’ll get more into the soprano side further into her run but for her 3rd ever show an absolute acting masterclass!
In PONR she was stunning! When she knew it was the phantom it was almost rage coming out in her singing like she was so over his nonsense lol
NOW…..the final lair…..WOW
She was inCREDible!!! Again a lot of belt but it worked so so well for her portrayal of Christine she really held her own here I was blown away! I got that Chumisa rn is more of a Raoul Christine as opposed to Lily who’s the polar opposite so a really lovely change!
Overall for her 3rd show as Christine I see Chumisa being a fan favourite, so much charisma and charm in her Christine and vocally was beautiful and will only get better! All 4 London Christine’s are top of their game we’re truly spoiled!
Costume notes:
- Her wig texture and style was stunning I just wish they’d add a bit more hair to make it a bit fluffier.
- Her Elissa Skirt is like Anouk’s one so no big bow in the back and gold appliqué round the fake bodice.
- Lovely mint bow in her hair for Il muto and I’m not a massive costume buff however her rooftop dress looked different and I can’t pinpoint why?
- Her masquerade dress was slightly better than Lily’s the bodice was perfectly fit and adequately beaded and the skirt had a lovely shape! West end star princess’ are just not my fave tbh!
- Her wishing dress was like the original production ones with the waterfall drape which was interesting I wonder if that will change

Another installment of the reluctant male re-watch.
We completed episode 4 and 5. There was more scoffing, a few chuckles and less questions. He seems to be fully engaged. Which is a good thing as the Reluctant Male is leaving on Friday for work in another country for 6 weeks. So we've only got a few days to get through the next few episodes. Fingers crossed we can get the last three episodes in.
Observations in no particular order:
1) "I'm not a huge fan of this couple, she keeps talking him into marrying her sister when he has admitted he wants no such thing. It feels repetitive. " I sort of understand where he's coming from. They have great chemistry but it does tend to drag out. Daphne and Simon were married by episode 5 and struggled after whereas Kanthony are in will they/won't they purgatory. But man, good chemistry!
2) "I don't really get the problem with Eloise. Is she planning to marry this guy and if that happens, what will happen to her?" I explain that she marries someone else and I DO spoil it and point out Phillip Crane which confused him majorly as Marina is still married to him. "How are they gonna pull that one off? So this Theo guy and her don't do anything? And why is Penelope watching?"
3) "this guy has to be bi cuz they give him moments of him talking and looking at guys but then he's all out having sex with every woman he meets. He seems pretty free, he's like the anti-Anthony." Which is a great observation about Benedict (I'm kind of blown away at his views sometimes, he's usually pretty clueless in life...)
4)"I like the olive joke. That's the first time he seems to be relaxed and making jokes." I then reminded him of the farm joke and taking his stick out which he replied that he wished Colin was always like that, which I totally agree. He seems more like book-Colin in those moments.
5) "ouch, that was harsh! Poor Colin. Guy seems out of touch... and sort of not part of the show or something. And you say his storyline is season 3? I don't know... how do you turn his character from this guy to like in love with Penelope cuz right now he seems stuck on the other girl." And with this statement, I tried warming him up to Colin and Penelope's upcoming season but so far, he doesn't see it. I shudder to think what he'll say after Colin's final remark about Penelope in the last episode. Breaking my Polin heart he doesn't see the potential... yet.
6) "I like Daphne more this season. Way more."
7) "the Featheringtons are a mess! I like their funny moments but what a disaster family!"
I point blank asked him for his favourite characters. Right off the bat, Portia is mentioned. As well as Lady Bridgerton (which consider me shocked cuz he never really mentions her while we watch). He claims he likes the artist brother the best. He is apparently not a fan of Anthony or Lady Danbury (who he did like in the beginning). He thinks the actress who plays Kate is hot, 🙄such a guy thing to say but also, he's not wrong.

hi!! what are your wishes for gmmtv part 2??? :)
hi anon! funny you ask this bc i started filling my bingo card as soon as i saw the news that part two will (possibly) happen two tuesdays from now. this got too long, so i put it under read more.
for starters, of course, firstkhaotung's new series. this is what i'm looking forward the most since they fooled us during part 1. i really need to see them getting on that stage to announce a series instead of school rangers. mafia or romcom or mafia romcom, i don't care. i know they can pull it off whatever they give them (though i hope they finally graduate, or at least don't make them high schoolers again. i'm sorry, i'm not on the the eclipse s2 bandwagon).
still in the fk area, i'm hoping they'll get solo acting projects, too. give them all the acting gigs. make first tay tawan's brother, let khaotung act with his beloved p'gun!
i'm hoping for more gls, foolishly. i saw on twitter, i think, that chaoplanoy (who wrote gap) rted the date that part 2 will happen soon and apparently gmm has the rights of one of her novels (us) since 2022? so maybe that's finally coming.
i really just wanna see more gmm girls getting the spotlight bc i don't think we appreciate them enough, but they are like good good! so fingers crossed that maybe, at least two more gls will come out this year (bc i'm gready).
also, i'm now a devote of the words of viewjune. their chemistry is amazing and their acting is also so good (i talked before about how view has blown me away with aylin), so genuinely, i hope we get another show with them as protagonists.
i really need force to portray a character like akk from enchante again, so maybe another forcebook romcom (i think they excel in that genre, it fits both force and book so well).
i'm hoping for another earthmix series, too, since mix is finishing school soon, but who knows really.
now, this isn't exactly a wish, but apparently mark finished filming the mock trailer of the series he's going to be the protagonist of, and many people think that's the beginning of the markohm era (?) so i hope that's true and he's not just teasing us. mark surprised me a lot in last twilight (the one person i didn't get angry at in that show), so i'll take everything they give us with him.
so long story short, anon (sorry about that), fk's series + solo acting projects for them both, more gls, forcebook romcom, more gls, viewjune mains in a series, more gls, earthmix, more gls.
thank you for asking, btw. it's the first time anyone has asked me anything of the sorts (you can see i got a little excited hence the length of this answer), so i was glad externalizing my wishes.

Do you really see no chemistry between DT and GT? I see lots, personally. I even remember watching that DW episode she guested in, in its original run, and thinking "wait a minute, the Doctor and his cloned daughter look like they're about ready to kiss, cool it off kids". As an example check out their New Year's quiz video, it's like an hour & a half, and I thought they came across very well there as a couple. All warm and inside-jokey & GT even cracked her 'cool' facade a couple of times lol.
Hi, Anon! Thank you for writing in to share your thoughts. I hope I didn’t wrongly give the impression that I see no chemistry between David and Georgia, because that is not the case at all. I do see chemistry between them, for sure...it’s just a different kind of chemistry to what I see between Michael and David.
One thing I think we sometimes forget is that there is a difference between on-screen chemistry and off-screen. Georgia and David certainly seem to have chemistry off-screen, but I’m not sure how well that translates to on camera. Georgia herself has said that at least one casting director told her she was not a “convincing partner” for David on screen. Casting directors are literally paid to notice and capitalize on chemistry between actors, so that’s not nothing.
And I did indeed see the New Year’s Doctor Who Quiz video from two years ago, which was certainly funny and charming. This here was my favorite moment in particular, both because of what Georgia said (which seemed to be a not-so-thinly veiled reference to Michael) and David’s hilarious double-take reaction. I know it is no easy feat to host an event like that for nearly two hours, and to keep the banter and back-and-forth going without having either person’s energy flag, and I imagine that would be a hundred times more difficult if there wasn’t any chemistry between them, so kudos to David and Georgia for that.
But then we have these two pictures of David and Michael (**Warning: Spoilers for Staged 3 ahead. Proceed at your own discretion):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All that’s happening in these pictures is one little touch...and yet it is absolutely electric. There’s no video here, no dialogue, no context beyond David touching Michael, but you can see the chemistry between them, which is so strong it’s nearly palpable.
That’s an extraordinary thing. “Rare” doesn’t even begin to describe it, in my opinion--it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing that we would all be so lucky to experience in our own lives. Magic. The magic that Neil Gaiman talked about Michael and David making when they got back into the roles of Aziraphale and Crowley for GO season 2. That is what I see in these pictures, and no matter how many times I see Michael and David together, I am continuously blown away by it.
So I hope that helps to explain my position a bit better, and my feelings on the chemistry between David and Georgia. Thanks for writing in! x

Reader’s Corner: Cat + Gamer, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, and When a Cat Faces West
You Like Me, Don’t You? Vol. 1
This high school romcom is…wildly uneven in terms of quality. On the one hand, it’s got: the stereotypical loser guy (Soukichi) and popular girl (Kasumi) combo in a literature club; cliché, forced romcom scenarios; wonky or missing punctuation; sentence fragments; capitalization errors; ambiguity; tacky emphasis on the female lead’s breasts; misspellings; and awkward phrasing. On the other hand, this story is sometimes cute, funny, genuine, and thoughtful. The two leads are both bookworms, and Soukichi also has a published novel. This opens the doors for some interesting discussions pertaining to writing, editing, and publishing, as well as the enjoyment and evaluation of books. There’s also an amusing section where they talk about how Japanese and western dating conventions compare (or at least what they believe about “western” dating). But in the end, as much as I want to be fair to this book’s good points, You Like Me, Don’t You? felt like a slog that I had to force myself to finish reading. I can’t really recommend it. ~ jeskaiangel
You Like Me, Don’t You? is published by Tentai Books.
My Dress-Up Darling, Vol. 5
After the anime dropped last season, it felt like everyone was talking about My Dress-Up Darling. As someone who has been reading the manga for a while, I feel like Aslan yelling at the White Witch about how much I already know about it. But, anyway. Volume starts starts with Marin and Wakana finishing up one cosplay and moving on to another. Marin wants to play a succubus character from a cute chibi slice of life series, and Gojo is wracking his brain to come up with a good design for the costume. Along the way, the two spend more time together, leading to so many cute moments, including a lot of I wuv him‘s in Marin’s head. It is just adorable. However, much like the anime and the previous volumes, this is still a bit of an ecchi series, with Marin modeling some tight and/or skimpy outfits. Despite the drawbacks, the series is special for the slow burn chemistry between the leads, which is incredibly sweet and so much fun to read. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed volume one, and am equally shocked at how much I am still enjoying the series. Looking forward to volume six dropping this summer! ~ MDMRN
My Dress-Up Darling is published by Square Enix Books.
I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss! (Manga), Vol. 2
If I could, I would give this volume a glowing 10 out of 10 stars! I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss! feels like peak fiction for the villainess isekai / otome game subgenre, though I am absolutely blown away at how original this story is! Truly, this second volume swept me off my feet with its unpredictability and fun. Aileen continues to avoid all the “red flags” so that her bad ending won’t come to pass, but as she is kicking off her new business and gathering information on different events around her, she doesn’t realize that another character also has memories of a past life. Things definitely just got a whole lot more interesting! I love so many things about this volume. For starters, the “lackeys” (especially Isaac!) made the beginning so enjoyable, and Isaac is such a great character that I would have no qualms about him and Aileen becoming a thing—they make an excellent team! Also, the slow burn “romance” between the main leads is so good! I’m hoping that this manga will end on a happy note because I really don’t know what is going to happen, but I need this ship to sail! (King Claude is just so soft!) Again, I am just head over heels about this series. I definitely recommend it as a must-read! ~ Laura A. Grace
I’m the Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss (manga) is published by Yen Press.
When a Cat Faces West, Vol. 1
If you enjoy workplace slice of life with a fantasy/sci-fi twist and a dash of mystery, detailed backgrounds celebrating down-at-the-heels urban chic punctuated by tropical plant life, and toe beans, then this is the series for you! In less niche terms, this is a delightful new series from Yuki Urushibara, the creator of Mushishi, set in a Japan where a nebulous shimmer known as ‘flow’ wreaks havoc on reality, descending on a place and causing it to double, mirror, travel backward in time, or disappear altogether, and often doing the same to the people who stumble across its foggy bounds. Although it’s not clear whether flow is scientific or spiritual in origin, what is certain is that it plays off the unconscious thoughts and emotions of people, and that cats are quite sensitive to it. Hirota is an underemployed flow detective of sorts who helps people navigate the sporadic wrinkles in reality. Flow naturally dissipates after an unpredictable period of time (though Hirota is actually pretty good at predicting its lifespan), but a return to normalcy can also be sped along if the emotions that partnered with it to produce the weird and wonderful are dealt with. Hirota is aided in his work by Shacho, his (unfaithful) white cat, and new hire Chima who, although aged thirty-five and a former OL, looks instead to be a rather severe twelve-year-old, thanks to the effects of flow. The emphasis of the storytelling in this first volume is on the relationships between the three flow experts (human and feline alike), and the people they meet. The artwork is gorgeous and compelling enough to lose yourself in, while the characters are very well fleshed out and ring true—even (or especially) Shacho! Also, the bonus pages at the end of the volume are hilarious. In all, this is a charming, gently humorous, and relaxing series, with enough intrigue to convince me that I’ll be following this one for some time to come. ~ claire
When a Cat Faces West is published by Kodansha.
The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady (manga), Vol. 1
In the great mix and match in the world of isekai stories, this particular one pairs a young woman—the princess Anisphia, who regains her memories after being reincarnated in a fantasy world and who uses them to create advanced technology in her new life—with another—Euphyllia, who does seem to belong to this world, but is in a perilous state after being publicly rejected as the betrothed of the crown prince. There is no male harem awaiting Anisphia or Euphie; instead, the former is singularly focused on the latter, whom she rescues from the prince’s false accusations, literally flying off with her and turning her into a research assistant. That bit there is the “new” element that the writer brings into this work. No, it’s not much, barely a novelty really, and unfortunately, the writing isn’t particularly sharp or comedic in the manga either. Although Anisphia is incorrigible, she doesn’t stand out from other heroines. Euphie manages a little better, however, and particularly toward the end of volume one when readers are privy to her self-reflection on how she’s bottled away her emotions. Still, these early chapters are bland, and the would-be yuri romance isn’t compelling either. Perhaps the light novel on which this manga is based fares better, though that would surprise me, for the best element of this particular volume are the wonderful illustrations. Otherwise, this is one isekai you can skip—though not to worry: With all the (mostly) same storylines and character types out there in the genre’s landscape, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to find a story about a character reincarnated into another world that’ll hit you just right. ~ Twwk
The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady (manga) is published by Yen Press. Volume one releases on May 24th.
Cat + Gamer, Vol. 1
Riko has gained a reputation at work for doing exactly what she needs in an efficient manner and not an iota more, completing all her assignments and leaving by 5:00pm on the dot each day, often at a mad rush. While her co-workers wonder what the reason could be, we nerds all understand: Riko just wants to get home to game! But her routine is about to be shaken up when she agrees to take in a stray kitten, and through ownership of her first pet, Riko will learn and grow in unexpected ways, shaking up her usual plans of applying RPG stratagem to real life. After the initial framework is set, volume one of Cat + Gamer takes place almost exclusively in Riko’s apartment as she plays with and cares for her new kitty. There’s a fun balance between her gamer personality / way of thinking, and the ways she has to adapt her thought patterns, learning all sorts of new things as she cares of her new cat (in bonus chapters, the action of the preceding chapter is hilariously reframed from the cat’s perspective). A simple series—both in composition and art—Cat + Gamer is just three volumes long, which seems to be just about right for a manga that is meant to evoke a peaceful feeling and deliver cute humor. It’s the perfect series to basically do with what Riko herself does with games: take a break from the world and relax. ~ Twwk
Cat + Gamer Volume 1 (manga) is published by Dark Horse Manga and releases May 24th.
Satoko and Nada, Vol. 3
While Satoko and Nada is a fun series, I also appreciate how the mangaka doesn’t shy away from addressing questions and concerns that I think are commonly voiced not only in Japanese society, but also in America. In volume three, this is achieved through two new characters that we meet (briefly) as they raise what I think are valid concerns about who Nada will marry one day. Nada’s own apprehensions (and those of her friends as well) about her fiancé are well handled and thoughtfully addressed. I was worried for Nada, too, and while I love her cheerful self, I have also liked seeing her more reflective side. I also thought it interesting that Christianity is a lot more present in this volume than the previous two. While it’s been shown that one friend, Miracle, attends church, this time Satoko is also shown volunteering at a Christian camp and experiencing Christian community. This series is deeply respectful of the various religions and cultures it depicts, and I honestly think this is one of my favorite things about it! I’m nervously excited for the next volume because it’s the final one, and I am really hoping that it will not end on a sad note. While I am happy for Nada and her fiancé, and about how Satoko has made new friends, I don’t want these ladies to part and go their separate ways, so to speak. Can’t they just continue to be happy roommates forever?! ~ Laura A. Grace
Satoko and Nada is published by Seven Seas.
Modern Villainess: It’s Not Easy Building a Corporate Empire Before the Crash, Vol. 1
Have you ever wished for a reincarnated-as-a-villainess light novel that trades all the customary romance / comedy / fantasy elements for a tale of corporate and political intrigue set in 1990s Japan? Well have I got good news for you! Protagonist Runa is the scion of a powerful zaibatsu (a wealthy business-conglomerate-owning family, defunct in our world but still around in the game’s), as well as an otome game’s villainess. Her story is heavily grounded in late twentieth and early twenty-first century economic and political history, and the author provides helpful notes at the end of each chapter to explain various terms and references. Now reborn and living as a child in the 1990s after having died sometime during or after the 2008 recession in her first life, Runa proceeds to use her knowledge of the world’s future to try to change the course of history and save her game-world Japan’s economy from collapse. Between a lecture on the nature of money, business dealings involving billions of yen, her Swiss bank account, shell corporations, mergers, hedge funds, elections, the Russian mob, and kindergarten (among other things), Runa just doesn’t have time for the content you probably expect from the villainess genre. This volume held my interest, but just barely. If a story about big business and international commerce based on recent history sounds good, check out this volume. Just don’t go into it like I did, expecting it to be anything like other books in the reincarnated-as-a-villainess genre, because you’ll be thoroughly disappointed. I think I’ll set it aside, give it another chance sometime in the future (this time with more accurate expectations), and see if that makes the story less off-putting to me. Then I’ll decide then whether I want to continue the series. ~ jeskaiangel

Robby NSFW Alphabet
Tumblr media
not my gif
A: Aftercare
Robby’s aftercare is ON POINT. He’s a huge cuddler and loves to have the chance to take care of someone who really appreciates it and takes care of him in return. He will get a soft, damp cloth and clean you off before pulling you onto his chest and wrapping you both up in tons of blankets. He likes to pet your hair while you fall asleep, and hold you so that no one can hurt you while you’re in such a vulnerable state. He knows, realistically, that no one is gonna jump out of the closet and attack you, but it makes him feel needed.
B: Body Part
His favorite body part of yours is your hands. He loves holding them up next to his and comparing, he loves holding your hand, and he loves when your hand is wrapped around his cock while y’all are in private. He can’t help but look at your left hand and picture a pretty ring on that finger, imagining the beautiful future he wants to have with you. His favorite body part of his is his butt. The boy works out, and he knows how much you like it. He honestly never noticed his butt before, whether it was nice or not, until you started pointing it out, and now he walks around in leggings just to get your attention!
C: Cum
He likes to cum in your mouth. Blowjobs make him feel like he’s in heaven, and when you swallow, it makes Robby feel like you’re accepting him and worshipping him like no one ever has before. He also likes to finish inside you (wrap it up) because of how intimate it is. Not part of the prompt, but he loves to make you sit on his face and cum all over his mouth, dirty boy.
D: Dirty Secret
Robby has always wanted to try more public sex. The thought of getting caught riles him to no end, and he gets so turned on by the idea of holding his hand over your mouth in a janitor’s closet so people walking past don’t hear your moans. If you wanted to try it, y’all would start small, like your backyard, and work your way up, but if you weren;t into it, that’s fine with him too.
E: Experience
He’s decently experienced. Robby had a one night stand or two before he met Mr. Larusso, when he hung out with those hooligans, but it never meant anything. With you, it’s his first time doing it with feelings involved, and he was blown away by how much better it was that way. He was experienced enough to not bust in T-2 minutes, but he still had a lot to learn about taking his time and making sure you both enjoyed it. With the other girls, it was always about doing it to impress his friends so he never thought much about how it felt, for him or her. You have to teach him that porn isn’t realistic, and that it takes time to feel good. He’s a fast learner though.
F: Favorite Position
He loves a good 69, lying down or standing ;) bc he’s strong like that. He also likes taking you from behind while he holds you up against him by your neck, and his other hand playing with your nipples or clit. Add a mirror, and you have the hottest sex either of you had ever had.
G: Goofy
He can be goofy during foreplay or aftercare, but Robby likes to keep it more intimate and serious during actual sex. He wants you to know that he takes you seriously, and thinks that you guys are goofy all the time, so he wants sex to be loving and heartfelt. Drunk sex can be goofy, but most of the time, he keeps it mature.
H: Hair
He will shave it off every once in a while and let it get stubbly for a couple weeks, then shave again. Robby HATES ingrown hairs, so he doesn’t like to shave every day, but he thinks just trimming makes it look sloppy. He settles for shaving every couple weeks. He literally doesn’t even notice when you don’t shave, so obviously he doesn’t care about that. Like he’s so caught up in the moment that you could put a little blue wig down there and he wouldn’t notice.
I: Intimacy
So growing up, Robby never really had people that cared a lot about him. Because of this, he lives for intimate moments. Just you guys lying on his bed playing with each other’s hair makes him swoon. He’s a romantic guy, and would definitely go all out with flower petals, candles, champagne, and bubble baths if it were a special occasion. He wants you to know that he loves you, and wants to make sure you know how much he loves you. 10/10 romance.
J: Jack off
He did it a lot before he met you, but now he prefers you. He really doesn’t feel the need to jack off because you guys are together so often. If he starts thinking about you in the shower or something, maybe he would, but he’d rather just text you to come over.
K: Kink
So Robby is a switch. When he’s feeling more dominant, he loves to spank you with his hands, a paddle, or his karate belt. He gets off on the fact that you trust him so much to hold your pleasure and pain in his hands. He would never go too far, but he loves how wet you get after a light spanking. When Robby is more sub, he likes when you boss him around. Telling him how exactly to pleasure you, pulling his face further into your core. Making him get on his knees and watch as you pleasured yourself. He worships you.
L: Location
At first, a bed. But after you guys have sex on a beach at night one time, he realizes that he wants to try tons of different locations. Just the possibilities of how he can position you, someone catching you, or someone hearing how good he makes you feel, really gets him going. His favorite so far was in an empty stairwell at a fancy resort that Sam invited you both to.
M: Motivation
So like Hawk and Miguel, Robby is a teenage boy! He’s horny all day, every day. He loves seeing you in workout clothes, seeing other guys hit on you and then shrink away when they realize you’re his, teaching you karate, and watching you put your hair up. It reminds him of… certain things.
N: No
He would never ever let someone else join you guys. Male, female, or other, he hates the idea of someone putting their hands on you in that way, and knows you would feel the same about him. Robby thinks you guys have such a perfect chemistry going, so why would you want to ruin that with another person? It would just be awkward and clumsy, and Robby does NOT like to share.
O: Oral
So like I said earlier, he thinks porn is accurate when y’all first start having sex. He would go down on you for like 30 seconds, barely using any pressure or suction, and would then be confused as to why you weren’t finishing. He sat you down one day and talked to you about it, because he was scared you just weren’t attracted to him or something. When you told him that you needed more than what he was doing, he made you teach him right then and there. He spent a good hour and a half going down on you, making you tell him what was good and what wasn’t, learning how to actually give GOOD head, and now he’s pretty much an expert. He takes his time and takes cues from you. You were amazing at head right off the bat, and he’s such a simp for you when you’re between his legs.
P: Pace
It honestly varies depending on the day and what mood you guys are in. He’s a switch in all respects, so he can be slow and loving, or fast and rough, or a mix of the two. He also loves when you start on top and set the pace, and then he will flip you guys over when you get tired and finish you both off.
Q: Quickie
He likes a good quickie in those moments when you guys are out and get turned on all of a sudden. Robby likes to take you somewhere a little more private and get you both off, before resuming what you guys were doing and acting like nothing happened. You’ve seen him shake the hand of someone with the same hand that was buried in you 3 minutes before, acting like nothing was out of sorts at all.
R: Risk
He will try new things if you want to, but is honestly pretty content with how you guys fuck right now. His philosophy is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” But he’s more than willing to try whatever you want to try. Robby can’t say no to his girl. Sometimes, you guys just sit there and watch porn together, and will see something that looks like fun, so you decide to try it.
S: Stamina
So I feel redundant for saying this on Miguel and Hawk’s too, but he’s a teenage boy! He can’t go for more than 12 minutes at first. He could go like 5 times in a row, but didn’t last very long. Now, he’s way better. He can last for a solid 30 to 40 minutes if he really wants to, but normally you’re satisfied before that and he can let himself finish.
T: Toy
Robby loves to try toys on you. When you first told him that you had a vibrator, he immediately asked if he could use it on you. He’s fascinated with how different toys do different things, and he loves studying the difference in your reactions depending on what he’s using. He doesn’t really like toys being used on him though. He thinks it feels weird and he'd rather have your mouth or hand.
U: Unfair
Robby can be a really bad tease if he’s in the right mood. He would hover his mouth over your pussy, letting you shake and cry before he touches you. He would finger you and bring you right up to the edge, before pulling his hand away and laughing as you almost sob. He likes knowing he has the power to make you writhe like that.
V: Volume
He’s pretty quiet, to be honest. You had to tell him specifically that you wanted him to be louder in the bedroom. Once you did that, he started to let loose a little bit more, but still isn’t super loud. He would rather listen to you scream his name ;)
W: Wild Card
He loves shower sex. Too many times have you guys both cum, only for him to carry you into the shower to clean off and eventually start round 2. The water, the soap, the nakedness, he’s a sucker for it. There’s no clean up involved, and he even gets a bathtub mat so you guys don’t slip and hurt yourselves.
X: X-Ray
I said it before and I’ll say it again! Size! Does! Not! Matter! The g-spot is 3 INCHES IN so if he’s hitting it right it’s fine!!! But Robby is probably a solid 6 inches.
Y: Yearning
Teenage boy! He could go at the drop of a hat. Robby wants you all the time, he just holds back until you want to as well. Which is also often, I mean look at him!
Z: Zzz
He doesn’t really like to fall asleep right after in case you need something. He makes sure he’s available to get you whatever you need: a snack, water, another blanket, a kiss. Robby also likes to hold you while you sleep, because it makes him feel like he’s doing his duty as your boyfriend and protecting you.

kuroo x manager!reader
summary: when help comes and pushes together kuroo and reader. Although who said help was ever in a totally helpful form. Sometimes signs are a little more subtle like a flying Lev and a lost kitten.
genre: fluff
warning: none
word count: ~1500
a/n : I don’t think there are any pronouns written in here for y/n so it should be gender neutral! I tried to make kuroo more of cannon kuroo rather than f boi kuroo. I feel like it kinda came out as a mix of both but I hope you enjoy! Also the title is a chemistry term too apparently. Earning my brownie points with Kuroo!
Tumblr media
Nekoma are currently playing a practice game, preparing for the upcoming season. They are all playing hard and are sweated out. A whistle blows and the practice game pauses for a moment. Kenma slips away, eager for a break, and I get him ready a cup of water. The poor setter, who would rather be playing on his switch than play another set, is nearly run over by Lev and Yamamoto. The two obviously thirsty from all their extra antics. And just like that, the very fast and large Lev trips. The rest happens in slowmo as I am swiftly pulled backward out of the way of the no so gracefully, flying middle blocker. The water stand goes flying along with all the water on it.
“Dude! Seriously, we were supposed to drink that!” Yamamoto shouts, horrified that he took out the entire stand.
“Lev!” Yaku says smacking him upside the head, “Obviously you haven’t worked enough if you still have energy to nearly mow down our manager!”
“I’m sorry Y/N!” Lev let out between Yaku and Yamamoto’s smacks, “That’s enough you two! Let up!”. Lev runs off, trying to get away from anymore slaps. I look back and see that it was Kuroo that pulled me out the way. Now that all the action is over, besides Lev’s scolding, I take a step out of Kuroo’s arms.
“Thanks for that,” I say smiling up at Kuroo, “You were just in time. I think I would have been flattened otherwise.”
“No problem. Couldn’t have our oh-so-trusty manager getting injured on the job,” Kuroo said before glaring over at Lev, “Or next game we might just have to make our clusty giant sit on the bench and fill in as our manager.” Lev shrieks at the threat.
“W- No! You couldn’t! But my blocking-”. Lev begins to panic at the thought of being benched.
“Don’t sweat Lev. I’m fine so your position on the court is safe.” I giggle saving the poor boy from a complete meltdown. A whistle gets blown to start the next set. The boys groan at the seemingly wasted break, still thirsty.
I pick up the two water jugs and secure their lids back on, luckily they weren’t broken, just completely emptied. I take one of the jugs to go refill. I may be the manager of the volleyball club and have gained some serious muscle throwing tons of practice balls to the boys and helping clean up, but those jugs get seriously heavy after filling them up with all that water. As I’m turning to leave Kuroo picks up the second one and follows me out.
“Oh! Kuroo you don’t need to do that I can manage,” I say not expecting him to leave practice to come with me, “You really should go back and practice.”
“It’s no problem,” He says looking away, “Really. Technically it’s my fault for not keeping Lev on a tighter leash on.” I just smile back at him, silently accepting his help. We fall instep as we make our way to get more water. As we are filling up the second jug, I heard a soft meow. Looking around I don’t see where it could have come from. Then I heard it a second time. This time I step away, unnoticed by Kuroo who is currently wrestling on the lid to the water jug. I’m looking around trying to catch sight of where the sound is coming from when I notice something peeking over the edge of gutters on the school roof.
“Where did you go? Y/N?”, Kuroo calls out who must of just noticed I wasn’t still there.
“Over here.” I call. His head pops around the corner of the wall very much confused. Once he sees me he walks over.
“Ummm. What are you doing?” As if on cue a small meow sounds.
“Look up there,” I say pointing to the gutter, “I think there is a cat stuck up there.” “Wah? How did it even get up there in the first place?!” Kuroo says even more confused now.
“You’re tall, grab it.” I say staring straight at him expectingly.
“What?! I know I’m tall but I can’t even reach the gutter how am I supposed to get the cat down?”
“Bet you Lev could have reached it.” I mutter under my breath.
“What was that?” Kuroo glares, baited by my challenge.
“Nothing.” I said dismissively looking off to the side. What I was not expecting was this. Suddenly I am flying up into the air. I look down and see that Kuroo has thrown me up onto his shoulders.
“Geez give me a warning next time.” I grumble stabilizing myself.
“Now were even better than Lev,” Kuroo states, the previous remark obviously denting his ego, “Now you should be able to grab it.” I look forward now being face to face with a little black cat sat in the gutter. I reach forward and the cat all but leaps into my arms.
“I got him!” I exclaim before gently handing the cat off the Kuroo so I can hop off his shoulders safely. When I look over at the two Kuroo is cradling the cat, making cooing noises at it. I stifle a giggle before reaching out to take it his arms.
“Well now we have a baby on board,” I say winking, “I need a strong man to carry back these water jugs.” Kuroo ducks his head, hiding a blush, but picks up the water jugs without a word. We finally making it to the gym, Kuroo not breaking a sweat with those jugs. I also got a pretty nice view of those well defined arms. Perks of the job, lots of fit volleyball boys. We walk through the gym gdoors and the boys flock over immediately, Lev being a lot slower this time. Kuroo sets the water down and I pass back the cat so I could help serve the water.
“Geez what took you so long,” Yuta grumbles giving a pointed look at Kuroo, “As our captain you really shouldn’t be slacking- Why do you have a cat.” However, Kuroo was absorbed in making cute faces at the cat as if it were a baby. The cat was soaking up the attention. I look over at the scene and fill the boys on the details about our mission to save the poor cat. Kenma comes to stand next to me.
“Is it just me or does that cat look like Kuro?” Kenma asks quietly. The team suddenly break out laughing all immediately seeing the resemblance. Kuroo blushes from all the attention not sure if it was something to be embarrassed of or not. Kuroo quickly dismisses practice, yelling at them to clean up. I let out a giggle too before walking over to Kuroo holding my arms out to take the cat from him so he may help as well. The cat leap over to me again. I walk out and sit outside the gym waiting for Kuroo to finish. Fifteen minutes later and he walks out.
“Oh hey, I thought you went home already.” Kuroo says shocked I waited.
“Of course! How could I let Kuroo #2 go home without saying goodbye to his dad?” I say with a laugh. Kuroo face immediately burns red.
“Dad? Also I really don’t think he looks like me.” Kuroo mutters, all flustered.
“Well we both found him so that makes us his parents. Don’t worry I will let you see him on the weekends,” I say winking, “Oh and how can a handsome cat like himself not look just like his father?” I push myself up onto my tippy toes and press a kiss on Kuroo’s cheek. As I step away from an even redder Kuroo, I feel someone grab my wrist and spin me back around. Kuroo cups my face and places a soft kiss on my lips. He makes sure not to crush Kuroo #2 who is between in us, asleep in my arms. It lasts for only a second before he pulls away.
“Goodnight Y/N.” We step away from each other both glowing red and feeling giddy. This little cat just kick starting something that had been teetering on the edge for months now.

Greetings! A two-part question for you on this fine Sunday:
What was the moment that it became unequivocal for you that Buddie was going "canon?" Or, more specifically — since it seems we have transcended the usefulness of that word — when did you know for sure 911 had committed to telling Buck and Eddie's love story? That moment when you said "oh it's definitely happening now." And:
Now that we are fully convinced they are telling a romantic love story: Looking back, when do you think the show committed? What was the indicator, the turning point from which they started to build?
Feel free to answer these or use as a jumping off point for the 911-meta of your choice lol. Always excited to hear your thoughts!
Ah! @yramesoruniverse it's always a pleasure to see you, always a pleasure.
I'm going to number this in accordance to your questions to give some semblance of organization.
1. I'll start this off by saying that (at the risk of being burned at the stake) I didn't actually start shipping buddie until 3x10, the Christmas episode. And I remember the exact moment: it's when they're at Eddie's house with Hen and Denny and then Eddie gives Buck that Look. I remember thinking to myself, what the fuck, what the fuck was that, especially coming off the heels of that scandalous Kitchen Scene. This of course caused me to go back to 2x01 and re-watch everything and then in that context, I was literally blown away. I was like, wow, there's actually something here.
I'll be honest, even before I started cognizantly shipping buddie, I remember having suspicious thoughts about 2x04 (all hail Stuck) and the choice to mirror Shannon's death with Buck's major accident in back-to-back episodes.
All this to say, to answer your original question, I pretty much figured the show was committing to something with Buck and Eddie during 3x18. All the build-up of S2 and S3 to pay off in an entirely Buck-centric episode about letting go of lost loves and looking toward "What's Next," and I'm sorry, but at every fucking turn it's like the show was screaming, "Eddie is next! Look, it's Eddie! We have worked and re-worked this scene a million times to make sure you understand Eddie is what's next!"
2. Now, the show is a different story. Given everything I know now, I truly believe the creative team quietly committed to their love story sometime at the end of S2/between seasons, and the evidence of this commitment is in 3x03. "I love him enough to never stop trying, and I know you do, too, " and, "There's nobody in this world I trust with my son more than you." Listen. Maybe it didn't catch me the first time around. I've mentioned before I don't usually do the whole shipping thing unless their chemistry is Just That Good, but what a testament to the story and the characters that all these episodes later, with continuous and thoughtful progression of their relationship, I can go back to this moment between Buck, Eddie, and Christopher, and think, Yeah, they were really building toward something, here. They really created the foundation for something beautiful.
I love these questions. I'm going to think on them some more. I thought I might be all meta'd out until S5 but the juices are flowing once again. We shall see.
Thanks again for stopping by! Hope this gives you something! Please come shout about 9-1-1/buddie anytime!

@missellewoods wrote this post, and i wanted to respond to it, but i also didn’t want to add a thesis-length response to their post. the post was about the complexity of the parse iii scene, and i highly encourage looking at it before reading this, because it’s a direct response.
i wasn’t sure i was gonna do it, but i’m fascinated with jack’s pov, so.
(transcripts from parse i-iii, plus visual cues from lva@pvd i)
[jack turns around, obviously unhappy/startled] "kent." "hey, zimms. didja miss me?" [smirks]
so parse shows up at the haus for the second time, after jack’s seen him last in either freshman or sophomore year. jack is not happy to see him. this is probably the part the remains the most ambiguous to us as an audience, because it leads up to parse iii: shitty’s story about parse’s first appearance is supposed to make us think that jack is jealous, and that he’s holding a grudge because parse is living his dream while he’s at samwell. however, this story isn’t included to give us more information about jack’s psych -- it is, after all, what we expect from jack after his year 1 arc -- it’s there so the impact of parse iii is more significant. it’s the first time we’re given reason to doubt jack’s heterosexuality and are given an actual glimpse to jack’s past since ‘the hockey prince’.
so is shitty’s story true? obviously ngozi is playing with the narrative here: smh all claim parse is a modest, super nice bro, but then we hear how he talks to jack in parse iii. meaning, ngozi is telling us: believe no one. you can’t actually know what he’s like, or what jack and he are like.
so our scene begins with jack, 1) either upset because his former friend shows up and triggers his intense jealousy, or 2) is upset because his former flame shows up and triggers unresolved feelings. honestly, in my opinion, jack himself isn’t sure which one it is. which is a great set up for the unfolding of the next scene.
[jack and parse are talking about jack’s nhl plans]
"...you have no clue?" "i mean... it could be montreal, it could be l.a. okay? i don't know." "...what about las vegas?" "i... i don't know, okay?" "..." [parse probably moves closer/tries to kiss him] "pars---" "..." "..." [whispered] "--kenny... i can't do this." "...jack. come on."
their conversation starts out relatively neutrally. we’re given enough clues from this update and the future of omgcp to deduce that parse isn’t over what he and jack had. this is also the very reason they don’t work and why this conversation takes a sharp turn downwards from here: parse equates his feelings and whatever sexual/romantic connection they had to the chemistry they had on the ice. to him, jack leaving him and going to play for some obscure college is just as upsetting as their ‘thing’ ending. parse spends most of this scene trying to convince jack to come play with him in lv -- the only reason we even know it’s in some way romantic is because of his reaction to the Cup Kiss in year 3. otherwise, he makes it sound like he misses jack as a liney and best friend, maybe as a sexual partner.
but the catch is, jack was in a really bad place when they were playing together, and he doesn’t want that back. does parse know how bad things were? does parse know about jack’s anxiety? how well does parse know jack, really? this is all kept intentionally hidden from us. you could say that they were best friends, so it’s reasonable that parse knew all of this (thus painting his character in a much worse light), or you could say shitty is jack’s best friend and he still didn’t know major things about him. ngozi doesn’t want us to be able to tell how aware or not aware parse is.
so in the beginning of this scene, we’re on the edge of an inevitable cliff. parse wants jack back, as a friend/flame and as a teammate, and jack’s obviously torn. he doesn’t push parse away immediately, but he also doesn’t consent. my opinion is that jack is torn between his old dream (all his 18-year-old self wanted was to play in the nhl with parse, and win win win), and knowing this isn’t what he wants. but does not wanting that necessarily means he doesn’t want parse himself? jack’s obviously not sure, because he lets parse corner him/kiss him before he decides it isn’t right.
if anyone here has ever met an old flame, especially someone who was bad for you but you cared for for a long time, you’ll know how easy it is to fall into patterns. for a moment the idea of having that all again is so enticing. but then the illusion shatters, and...
"no, i-- ...uh." [and then much louder] "kenny--" "--zimms, just fucking stop thinking for once and listen to me. i'll tell the gms you're on board and they can free up cap space. then you can be done with this shitty team. you and me --" "get out."
here is the most important part of this scene in my opinion. kent doesn’t know jack anymore. anyone on the face of the planet could tell you that jack is a hardass, that he’s tough on his teammates, that his dream is the nhl. but jack loves his team. he didn’t necessarily always know how to be their friend, but he certainly doesn’t think of them as a ‘shitty team’ he’s stuck with.
and parse makes the mistake of shattering the illusion he’s built (with the clever use of the wording ‘shitty’, which probably reminds jack of the friends he has now). jack wakes up from the dream he had when he was 18 and comes back to reality: he’s samwell men’s hockey team’s captain, he cares for his team, and his new dream is to win the ncaa championship and go to the nhl. he doesn’t want this thing parse is offering him, because the person he’s offering it to isn’t him anymore.
and here is the first twist of this scene that op is referring to: jack starts to get angry.
"--jack." "you can't-- you can't come to my fucking school unannounced --" "--because you shut me out--" "--and corner me in my room--" "--i'm trying to help--" "--and expect me to do whatever you want--" "FUCK -- JACK!!! what do yo want me to say? that i miss you?” [twists his fingers in jack’s shirt, crowding into jack’s space. jack turns away, frowning angrily] “i miss you, okay? ...i miss you."
does parse really miss jack, or is it a ploy? honestly, i think the facial expressions we’re privy to in year 3 hint that he really means that. he misses jack. he doesn’t necessarily miss the current jack (it’s likely that he’s stuck on the fantasy of what they had when they were younger), but he means what he says. he wants jack back.
but jack is angry, because parse is complicating things for him. they were talking about playing together, and then parse insulted his choices, and now parse is talking about being together, and jack -- who took A YEAR PLUS to figure out his feelings for bitty -- probably has a hard time handling all of these things at once. for parse there’s nothing complicated here: the jack he knows wouldn’t want to play for a college team (therefore, =shitty team), and playing with jack=being with jack.
for jack none of these things work like that anymore. they’ve grown too far apart.
"...you always say that." "...huh. well, shit. okay. ...you know what, zimmermann? you think you're too fucked up to care about? that you're not good enough? everyone already knows what you are but it's people like me who still care."
and... okay. so things go south now, and quickly. if you’re a parse stan... honestly, i hope you’re a parse stan who’s aware parse needs a shit ton of therapy.
jack insults parse, whether intentionally or unintentionally, by being casual about parse’s declarations of feelings. to be fair, jack thinks parse was playing dirty. but parse doesn’t see it like that, so he’s offended, and apparently when he’s offended he gets angry and lashes out.
now. the unfortunate thing about knowing someone at their most vulnerable time is that you also know exactly how to kick them down to their lowest. we all hurt our loved ones the most, because we know them the best. but parse doesn’t just hurt jack here: he goes for the jugular. he kicks jack and then makes sure he stays down. and this is actually the most we see parse say in the whole comic, so... we can’t judge parse as a whole person, but. i’m sorry. he’s definitely not a good friend to jack.
(how bad of a friend? depends on how aware he was of jack’s anxiety and thoughts and feelings. if he was aware, this is a highly emotionally abusive thing to do. if he wasn’t aware, he was just being a shitty friend. either way, parse needs therapy, because he’s holding on to a lot of anger and is expressing it in a really awful way. but we can’t analyze him any further as a character because parse is not the focus of this story and we don’t know anything more about him.)
[faintly] "--shut up--" "--you're scared everyone else is going to find out you're worthless, right? oh, don't worry, just give it a few seasons, jack. trust me." [probably begins shaking] "...g-get out of my room." "fine. shut me out again." "and stay-... stay away from my team." "why? afraid i'll tell them something?" [voice growing stronger] "leave, parse." [door opening; jack and parse are surprised to find bitty outside the door. jack is visibly shaking, holding the attack at bay]
op asked how jack’s anger turns into a full blown panic attack. the answer is parse goes for his weak points faster than jack can prepare himself, just when jack was open for an attack. he calls jack ‘worthless’, which is jack’s second worst fear, and then (probably) tries for the sexuality angle. it’s unclear whether he’s threatening to out jack or to tell the team about his substance problems, but more likely the former, because the latter was all over the news.
parse is clearly upset here. is he just angry for being rejected? is he humiliated? is he heartbroken? we don’t know. the only hint we have is ‘shut me out again’, which implies he’s at least still upset about jack cutting him off after the draft. what we do know is that jack, with the last shreds of his will power, tries to defend his team. tries to cling on to the idea that he knows there are people who believe in him (this is very hard under the cloud of anxiety).
either way, jack’s panic isn’t even about parse or what parse used to be -- it’s just that parse knows where to press.
[parse clears throat, putting his indifferent mask back on] "hey. well. call me if you reconsider or whatever. but good luck with the falconers." [lands the final blow] "...i'm sure that'll make your dad proud." [jack's panic attack takes over. he retreats to his room, slams the door, and slides down to curl into himself on the floor for an undetermined amount of time]
and then parse, in front of jack’s teammate, lands the worst punch he has in his arsenal. jack’s worst fear. disappointing his dad.
jack spent all of year 2 talking to nhl teams and being watched by scouts and negotiating contracts, and consulting with his dad and his teammates to make a decision. he’s not sure about the falconers until much later, but he obviously leans towards them. which is a whole essay in and of itself: jack leans towards the falconers, a smaller, younger team with no cups, but with a lot of potential and good people and something to prove. this is a metaphor for jack’s growth as a character. he could go for a more established team to look good in front of the world, or pick a winning-streak team like the aces to feed into his anxiety. parse is taunting him with his own growth, making him doubt himself: you think you can change? you think you can really be someone new after playing in some college team? if you’re not who you were when you were 18 and first-pick at the draft (before you ruined everything for yourself and ended up here), you’re no one. and your dad will never be proud of you.
[end scene.]

LEVERAGE IS BACK MOTHERFUCKERS
YALL.
One of the all-time best shows to ever exist has gotten a reboot that is out now with 2 new, VERY well written characters and 4 out of 5 of the fantastic original cast! You can watch it for free with ads on IMDB tv/Amazon Prime Video and we NEED to not only watch it and tell our friends to watch it, we need to be as vocal as we possibly can be about how we feel about it, because I have waited for literal YEARS for something like this to happen and I’ll be damned if I let another extremely well made show slip away because of insufficient ratings
Reboots are hard to pull off, and if you want to pull one off it needs to be done just right; it can’t be too similar, it can’t be too different, and if you have characters continuing over from the original it’s extremely easy to screw up writing them in a way that satisfies the audience but doesn’t seem hollow or 2-dimensional either, whereas new characters are bound to come underneath so much scrutiny it can be guaranteed to be met with mixed or negative feedback unless it’s done exactly right. So while preparing myself to give Leverage: Redemption a try, I was already pretty skeptical and anticipating at least mild disappointment.
I was very wrong.
Like always, the show is hilarious, serious, emotional & brilliant, the cast has the same chemistry with each other that we all loved, and they still give you the same mixed feeling of hope and satisfaction when you see someone awful get what they deserve, even if it is technically fictional when said justice is served—but not only do we get all the things we already loved about the show, we get them with two fresh, complex, and 3 dimensional faces that have their own unique backstories, and we get it in a way that helped transition the show to today’s relative day and age that keeps up very well with how the times have changed in our real world since the last season
Look.
TL;DR — if you liked, loved, or are even interested in the original Leverage, this reboot is for you. I hardly ever like reboots, and I tend to be fairly critical when a reboot I might be interested comes my way to be scrutinized, but I will stand behind this one till the day I die because it knocked my expectations on its ass and I was blown away because while it also was very modern and 2020s era, I felt like at the same time I was back in 2010, and honestly I’ve never been more satisfied with any other reboot than I have with this one. Please help me save it and spread the word.

All this conversation about ggdd's supertopic still remaining open made me want to share my crack theory on it, that was born from a silly dream a couple weeks ago lol. My theory: ggdd have already been cast for the main leads of tgcf. This was always the plan following the successful release and popularity of cql. In fact, the cql team continued to capitalize on cql's success by making 2 spin-offs. And weren't there once rumors that there was going to be a third spin-off as well? Maybe that rumor was actually pointing to the creation of the tgcf series? This explains why their supertopic has remained open--even as ggdd promote shows with other actors--because their cp will be needed when tgcf promotions begin. What I love about this crack theory: we will be seeing ggdd acting together again, yay! What is bummy about this crack theory: the supertopic remaining open is a pr move rather than ggdd's silent approval of their cp. Unrelated sidenote of my own opinion on ggdd: whether or not the supertopic gets shut down ever, I still believe ggdd are szd (there are just too many coincidences/moments that point to them being real). But this theory has been an interesting thought exercise regardless on some of the more...interesting pr moves ggdd's respective teams have made in handling their cp.
Anon, you’ve blown me away. We finally have the real reason why. 🤡
I love this theory even though I find the chance of it being true roughly on par with the likelihood of the tattoo rumor or the toilet paper rumor being true (which is to say, not at all). Despite how unlikely it is to be true, this theory is very creative and will give the TGCF people something more to chew on.
The TGCF speculation has been entertaining, if a little heartbreaking. Let’s dig a bit into that (fake, fan fiction, CPN).
There are some incredibly good reasons to believe GGDD would never be cast in another BL, let alone TGCF:
There has been enough speculation about them already without throwing another BL into the mix. Geez - doing another BL would practically be like coming out of the closet.
They are both enormously popular and very busy. The likelihood of their schedules aligning in such a way as to enable them to work on anything together, let alone a BL story, seems very low.
Their popularity means they can both command massive dollars. Would any production even have the budget for both of them without completely breaking the bank? It would have to be an extremely well-financed production.
It could be a career suicide move. It might typecast them and make them an undesirable choice for other roles. It would likely turn off some brands and producers and even fans.
Their management teams would almost certainly not allow it. They might tolerate the CP because of the cover it provides the relationship if it exists, but throwing gasoline on those CP flames would likely be a bridge too far.
They are being used to promote the Olympics, and have both appeared in regime-backed shows (GG’s military drama, DD’s cop drama), so the powers that be are probably not going to want them appearing in anything that isn’t in line with ‘certain values’ until at least after the Olympics.
The fact that these two have the most popular CP and have already done a BL relatively recently might make it incredibly difficult to get past any censorship board with them cast in the lead roles.
If they were ever able to work together again, they would probably both vastly prefer to do something completely different than what they’ve already done.
Any TGCF-related marketing that uses GG or DD is likely being done to appeal to their BL/CP audience, rather than to hint at future casting.
Lightning rarely strikes twice.
But who am I to wash any candy this sweet? Let’s look at the other side of the story. I mean, there ARE legitimate reasons to believe it could happen.
Anyone casting them together in another romantic costume drama would be giving themselves a license to print money. They are incredibly popular both separately and together, and a lot of that popularity is based off of their insane chemistry. Such an event would generate incredible buzz and anticipation and any resulting show would immediately be hugely popular.
Taking a popular pre-existing CP and using it to promote an entirely new show, it would be a pretty shrewd marketing move.
If GG and DD are relying on the CP as cover for their relationship, working together in another drama would be a great way to renew the CP and thereby renew the cover.
I’m sure they’d jump at the chance to work together again, especially considering how much time that would give them to be together for filming and promo. It would lead to other opportunities to go together on variety shows, etc.
The team doing TGCF have worked with GG and DD and know already how magical that combination was. They already know what to expect from them, and given how much they’ve both grown as actors the team would probably have even higher hopes this time around.
They obviously tolerate the CP and all the speculation despite the fact that it’s growing rather than shrinking. They haven’t gone against it. This would at the very least imply they aren’t offended by the idea of being shipped together, which makes it at least possible that taking on another romantic pairing together wouldn’t be completely offensive to them.
If they are in a relationship this would probably the closest they could get to coming out without putting their lives and careers at extreme risk. It would be like a declaration of being together without actually declaring anything. Plausible deniability.
They’ve both been marketed in connection with TGCF. It could be buzz-building around casting.
The idea that they might have signed on for two series - as far-fetched as it sounds - might explain why the CP stays up despite the scandal, etc. There could be some contractual obligation there, or an interest in keeping it going for the sake of the future project.
Alas, Anon, I think it’s unlikely, but it’s also important for me to point out that I’ve often been spectacularly wrong about things, so if hoping for something like this brings you pleasure then by all means enjoy. If you and the other TGCF people are correct and they do get cast I’ll be among the first to cheer.
Oh, and Anon - it’s not even a question. BJYXSZD.

The Great Dizi List, Part 3b (The Alperen Dizis)
Okay, so allow me to start by saying that I've finished Son Yaz, and as as result I may have fallen the tiniest bit in love with Alperen Duymaz and thus have embarked on the journey of watching all his dizis. He has this sad, earnest puppy vibe combined with an incredible amount of BDE in all his roles, plus he's just so damn pretty. Anyway. And by all I mean just two others bc I like him beardy and his teen one is a little young for me.
Son Yaz
This one will actually get its own post, because it deserves its own post. Tbqh it deserves sonnets written to its beauty, bc this is one of those shows that I watched all the way through in like, 3 days, and then immediately wanted to go back and watch again. It was that good. The main quartet are a delight, and honestly I haven't loved a ship like AkMur in far too long. (okay technically Edser but that ended in disaster and in retrospect I kind of think they were awful and I'm not even really sure what I loved about them tbh they kind of sucked.) They are one of those ships you can believe in, where you know they are going to work out no matter what and you want them to. The way they are together--they make my heart happy.
Zemheri
This show I actually started to watch back in September of last year, when I had just started watching Turkish dizis. Back then I was entirely on my own and I got about 40 min in and then freaked out. I read some reviews, freaked out some more and bailed. But I'm a dizi pro now, and with this being a combined Alperen AND Ayça dizi I basically couldn't resist. It helped that it was only 10 episodes and that meant it couldn't get too crazy. Both Alperen and Ayça were amazing, of course, and they are just so damn beautiful together. Their chemistry was electric and since they spent about 90% of this dizi crying at each other (and let me tell you that these two may be the best dizi criers I've seen) it was incredibly well done. They are so pretty when they cry. There is one story line which didn't make a whole ton of sense and kind of pissed me off, but honestly it gets so little screen time as to render it easy to dismiss or headcanon. (Hint: It should have been a hysterical pregnancy). But the acting was great, the ending was intensely satisfying, and honestly if you want to watch Alperen with curls and turtlenecks and peacoats (his curls, btw, may or may not have caused a few minor breakdownsif they give Akgun curls I won't make it) cry at Ayça beautifully while she cries beautifully back for 20 hours or so, then I highly recommend.
Çarpişma
Okay, so I've watched several mafia/crime dizis. They're probably my favorite kind tbh. Usually they feature super smart main characters who are always a step ahead (you think they are in trouble but they always had a plan) and a bad guy with infuriating but understandable motives who usually lives too long, and at least one minor henchman guy who gets what he deserves. And usually our mains live happily ever after. Usually.
This show was not that. I should preface this by saying that my brand of humor is what you might call "dark"--I laughed more at the Americans than I ever have a comedy, lets put it that way. Anyway, this show featured 4 of the stupidest people ever to exist in a tv show, and I do mean that, and was also technically I guess kind of horrible what with the death and killing but tbh I laughed a lot. Now, I should say that the cast was excellent, and the acting was excellent and I loved every single one of those stupid idiots. But they were, in fact, extraordinarily stupid. These people got kidnapped like, and I'm not joking, at least once an episode. Sometimes twice. There actually came a point where they were getting kidnapped from their kidnappers by other kidnappers. And then literally every episode they'd get saved (and by they I mean the women, the two dudes never got kidnapped really) and then literally like, go right back to life as normal. Neither dude ever made sure their respective girlfriend got back in the house at night, neither girl ever believed in calling their respective boyfriend to, idk, buddy walk anywhere, they never checked before opening doors, they drove away without looking, got in cars without looking. It may sound like I'm exaggerating but I swear I'm not. And mind you, this dizi started with the main characters family getting blown up, and the other one being kidnapped and forced to shoot her husband in the face to save her kidnapped daughter. Spoilers I guess. So you'd think they'd be a little cautious but nope. Not even a little. Just out there, living their lives. The main villain of the first half of the dizi actually got redeemed and tbh by the final episode I was rooting for him to live his best life an co-parent with Kadir. At least he had a reasonable motivation, and he also did try and make up for the atrocities he committed. And really, what's a little murder now and again. The other bad guy's motivation was, and I swear this is true, "my son hates me for blowing up his family bc I didn't know it was his family, so bc he hates me I'm going to kill the rest of his family." That was literally it. The thing is, while the constant dying and torture would make you say "Djem, wtf is wrong with you, how did you get glee out of this show?" let me tell you that by the 945th kidnapping, you too will be like "can't even feel sorry for you really" and the just settle into this state of low level amusement and glee. Like, literally 90% of these kidnappings and deaths could have been prevented by like, idk, actually having police protection, or staying inside the house, or not opening the door for strangers, or watching to make sure the love of your life got inside safely, or not walking alone at night, or not GOING TO THE PARK TWO DAYS AFTER YOUR BESTIE WAS KIDNAPPED AND HAD A BOMB STRAPPED TO HER. So like, I mean, not to victim blame. But. Let's say by the end, while I loved the fuck outta the mains, I honestly was more emotional over Veli. Bc they were just so fucking stupid. Like, kidnapped, from a kidnapper. You really can't make it up. They make Akgun and Soner look like geniuses. And that's saying something. Anyway it was great and if you ff through most of the boring shit, I highly recommend. The acting is superb, the foursome is hilarious, and tbh Veli is a great villain that I loved. It was the stupidest dizi I've seen (that's a lie I watched parts of two Ayşe dizis) but tbh it was enjoyable as hell, so that's saying something I guess.
And that is BITTI for the Alperen dizis. For now. Son Yaz will be back soon and I can't wait!
Next up is Kuzey Guney, bc I made promises.

A Review of “The King's Man (2021)”
Tumblr media
When Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) came out, I didn't have huge expectations for it. After watching it though, I was completely blown away by how much I enjoyed it. However, the sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) was quite disappointed with its nonsensical plot and pacing. After countless delays due to covid, the 3rd entry in the franchise, The King’s Man (2021), finally came out. It is a prequel set during WWI about how the Kingsman formed. So is the franchise back on track or is this another disappointing entry?
Tumblr media
Firstly, the cast is great and all give great performances. Ralph Fiennes plays Orlando and is the founder of the Kingsman. He is just perfect casting and seeing him pull off some awesome fight scenes is just wonderful to watch. Gemma Arterton plays Polly Watkins who is a maid and agent to Orlando. She is an absolute joy when she is on screen thanks to her funny wit and quips. She and Ralph Fiennes surprisingly have great chemistry when on screen together. Djimon Hounsou plays Shola a butler and agent to Orlando. He is awesome to watch and he also works well on screen together with Ralph Fiennes. Rhys Ifans as Rasputin is the biggest highlight in this film. His deranged yet menacing performance is just a sight to behold! There is a surprisingly amount of well-known actors in the film even with their short screen time. They all do a great job with some actors wanting me to see more of them.
Tumblr media
What makes the Kingsman franchise great is the action scenes and this film still delivers on that. There is a mesmerizing fight scene with Rasputin himself that just put a smile on my face throughout. There is also a very gritty and brutal No Man's land sequence that is not like previous movies but was very well choreographed. The final action sequence has the level of ridiculousness expected from the franchise and it is very fun to watch. One thing this film does differently from previous films is a more serious and emotional story to tell. The relationship between Orlando and his son Conrad is the core of the film. Orlando wants to protect his son but Conrad wants to fulfil his duty and fight in the war.  I appreciated this part of the story and I think it was executed very well.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, there is a lot of tonal clashes in the film. It will go from this serious World War I film to a weird wacky film where a guy gets his thigh licked and then back again to a serious film. It happens a lot throughout the first 2/3 of the film and it can be a bit jarring that the director can't just settle on one. The story itself is also quite weak and a little overstuffed with it trying to cover the entire WWI events within it. The pacing is quite slow at points in the first half due to it trying to summarize the things that were happening at the time. It does feel a bit too long at 131 minutes and could have been cut by 10-15 minutes.
Tumblr media
Harris Dickinson who plays Conrad (Orlando's son) is a bit dull. I wouldn't say it is due to his performance but more down to how his character is written. While every other character has these outward personalities, Conrad is just dull compared to everyone else. It's a shame as his character is the emotional core of this film but his character is not memorable. There is a villainous group in this film called the Flock and they are the ones manipulating things behind the scenes. Unfortunately, they are also a very bland villainous group with a generic motive and don't do much to stick in your mind. They are led by "The Shepherd" whose face is kept hidden until the end where it is revealed who he is. Unfortunately, the revelation is predictable and disappointing. He ends up being a very weak villain compared to the awesome Rasputin who probably should've been the main villain.
Tumblr media
Overall, this film delivers if you just want entertaining action sequences. If you wanted an interesting story about how the Kingsman came to be then you are going to be thoroughly disappointed. It is a little difficult to say whether this is better than Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) as they are both flawed movies. This movie isn't a must-watch, even for people who watched the previous Kingsman movie. Nevertheless, it is still pretty enjoyable and you will have some enjoyment watching this.
