Super late but I fell asleep earlier than I should've and I need to get out these late (or super early morning) thoughts.
Jack can be a little scummy. Not just for the sake of it, but more so as a warning. Mean girl valedictorian turned PTA entitled mom scummy if you will (that's a thing I just came up with). And I'm not just talking about Canon, I mean general AUs or otherwise.
Jack might give his rival (romantic or otherwise) a sit down and ask how they're doing, subtly point out things they'd be insecure about and say in such a well meaning and sweet way how they should work on that thing, the hardest if they can, and say how even though you mean well you're severely bothering Sunshine - they have a lot on their plate at the moment, you see.
Jack wants what's best for everyone! Even those less than desirable... but everyone can change! They just need a push in the right direction.
If you don't take the hint and get in his way, then what's a subtle pull away from the crowd to give you a talking to about your problematic behavior? Or a missed invitation to a very important event in your life? Maybe you should work on yourself, get your affairs in order and stop messing with his friends. Because pretty soon you won't have any.
I think the issue with Constantine is that writers nowadays have lost the nuance that made him such an interesting character. He either takes himself too seriously (which is a big mistake) or he's reduced to a joke. A good Constantine writer is able to nail the pathetic, unnerving, dorky and capable asshole mix.
I mean, this is the man who conned the Devil, FLIPPED the finger at this one after doing so just to piss him off, and then drinking to no end in the next issue while (rightfully) regretting this decision.
an ex-zionist jewish man recently went a bit viral on tiktok for sharing exactly how he sees zionism tie israel to the jewish identity and his personal experience with breaking away from it - I think it’s a really great watch.
He also made a follow up talking specifically about how he learned to humanise Palestinians, and a really integral part of it was his school, which would often bring in Palestinian speakers who’d share their perspective (here’s a link to it).
sometimes you will spend 30 minutes thinking about a character and you will expect to have something coherent to say by the end of that time but the best you can come up with is "they are sooooooo shaped they are so silly i love my blorbo"
me and my bf have put an explosion and a brocolli next to our urls on instagram bc we're bkdk (not really but the vibes yknow) so now im trying to figure out who our other friedns would like
the infamous 'last sighting of a barbary lion in the wild' photo taken by marcelin flandrin (1925) haunts me to my core. there's something so achingly poetic about it.
