it's... very interesting to see how some religions and cultural beliefs have the concept of femininity and masculinity on the opposite sides
yet to ascend to divinity means to embrace both sides and become one
what does that say about gender, sex and the way we understood these... concepts?
i'll let you think for yourself.

I keep up to date with Disney’s Star Wars shows out of like, a morbid fascination, and it’s incredible to me how much of a cultural touchstone season one of the mandalorian is and how bad everything after it was.
Like, you had this new, fresh entry point to Star Wars. It was flashy and new and mysterious- and entirely unconnected to everything else! Which, like, was the key reason people liked it.
Not one of the key reasons, the key reason. It wasn’t a continuation of a long held plot point from old cartoons, you didn’t have to do homework to understand the goings on in the galaxy, the show told you everything you needed to know. It was fun!
Anyway, after that every single show aside from Andor (which is obviously like, still connected to things) is mostly about dave filoni playing with his OC’s in a sandbox, and comes out Exacty as narratively satisfying as that sounds [not narratively satisfying. It sucks.]
Ashoka ends with the Star Wars Thanos equivalent being set up for Dave’s movie which I honestly kinda doubt will manifest. I really do not think Star Wars is a good fit for this interconnected crossover narrative writing which is 1: already grating to viewers at this point and 2: just bad.
Regardless it’s really wild to see these insanely high budget shows get produced where they show you this beautiful world and fascinating character designs and everything that happens in it is stupid or boring

for your recent ask on how to build relationships in movies where you used willabeth as an example i was just thinking of them as i read ur post lmao! what do u think are some underrated aspects of their relationship in the films ? and if you had to pick a favorite film of the potc trilogy based on just willabeth, which would you pick?
Oh, yay! A Willabeth ask!
AWE automatically wins on "At Wit's End" (aka "Will and Elizabeth's love theme") alone. That is the soundtrack to a cosmic, epic, transcendental, soul-moving, earth-shattering love story, that is the epitome of a romantic composition, it is everything. Like just listen.
But I mean, the scenes that they have in this movie?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not sure that there's anything that shippers find underrated about them, it would just be in response to Sparrabeth shippers or people who are anti-Willabeth, which I just don't find merits a response but something I do quite enjoy about the Willabeth love story is the role Jack plays in it and how his respective bonds with Will and Elizabeth actually reinforce that love story:
Like, Jack helps Will come to terms with his parentage and history
Tumblr media
and therefore who he is and Will, in turn, saves Jack from the gallows.
Elizabeth has faith in Jack, tells him he’s a good man, helps him see the morality of situations
Tumblr media
and Jack does prove her right in Dead Man’s Chest by coming back to help the crew but I think the most significant way he proves her right is by going against a desire he wanted for all of At World’s End so he can do right by Will (and it actually goes further than his desire throughout At World’s End but to a fundamental passion like he sold his soul to Davy Jones to get the Pearl, that’s how much he loves the sea)
Tumblr media
and then you had Jack speaking to Elizabeth’s desire for freedom
Tumblr media
and encourages her obtainment of that freedom, of that agency, of that power
Tumblr media
which ultimately leads back to her choosing to love and be with Will
Tumblr media
which, despite what antis say, isn't a regression. The trilogy begins with seeing her discomfort in "polite society" and feeling pressured into doing what's expected i.e. an engagement to Norrington
Tumblr media
which includes hiding her fascination with pirates as well as her feelings for Will
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the two things are interconnected. In fact, when we see her being chastised for not behaving the way she should, it's when she's too intimate with Will
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her interest in pirates is signified with her keeping Will's medallion
Tumblr media
her choosing Will is also her choosing her own freedom
Tumblr media
Will even teaches her how to fight
Tumblr media
and throughout the trilogy, it's them discovering more facets of themselves i.e. Will reunites with his father, Elizabeth actually gets to be a pirate but what even got them on those journeys was trying to find/help the other so they can be together
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and those layers just bring them back together stronger. This has always been the point
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also isn't exactly underrated but I find when I go into the tag, there's a lot of emphasis on what Will does for Elizabeth, how he supports her, how in love with her he is, how devoted to her he is and I completely understand why but also Elizabeth's devotion to Will deserves a spotlight as well.
Going to fight undead pirates alone to save Will
Tumblr media
Being both surprised and upset at Will even considering that she could be in love with Jack
Tumblr media
Giving away the entire plan because she couldn't feign disinterest when Sao Feng acted as though he'd stab Will
Tumblr media
Having to literally be carried away by Jack when Will was stabbed
Tumblr media
Even the smaller, in between things like Will shouting at Elizabeth to shoot at the barrels of rum but her refusing because he was still caught in the net.
I just love them so much.

hi GBA! okay i'm back and i have Thoughts about Albus. he's such a fun character and he's so loveable, in his own rugged way.
(pardon me if this gets long; i am a Yapper)
so. Albus York. i suspected early on that his demeanor is very much like armor for him. a defense mechanism, of sorts. he's a bastard, and in that world bastards seem to be treated with less respect than the worms in the dirt. so i gathered his demeanor came about as a result of the hostile environment he was born in; if they already hate you, then they can't turn around and hurt you later. antagonize them, put them on the defensive, so that way he can't get hurt by whatever they throw at him.
i wanna say by episode...3? 4? shortly after we meet Devlin, i figured some of Albus was doing was putting up a front. he seemed afraid of letting his guard down, especially when he's alone with his own feelings about Faithful. easier to pre-emptively quash any feelings about love so you won't get hurt later, right?
and then the episode with Cravitas happened, when he was shoving Albus' past in his face, and i wanted to cry 🥲 i KNEW something was up, but man...this poor guy please someone give him a hug! that was so much worse than i expected it to be! the writing there was excellently done and incredibly gripping. i would also jump at the chance to kick Cravitas in the dick.
man...i love, love, loved how this story has panned out. Devlin is a sweetie, and considering how much i adore Zed, i'm not shocked at how quickly Devlin grew on me! and Albus is such a fascinating character, and i adore him, warts and all!
gah, this is getting so long. i love analysing characters and i could honestly go on for much longer on both of our Yorks. fictional characters give us great mediums for exploring certain mixes of traits and different tropes, and also gives us a great means of deconstructing things like family bonds and masculinity, like with Albus here!
this was absolutely splendidly done! and i'm excited to start Bastards vs Zombies, too! i love how interconnected everything is! 😊
(okay, i'm done yapping...for now 🤭)
Things like this gives me the motivation to keep working on the stuff I make! Thank you so much for your analysis! It means very much to hear what other people think on a deeper level when it comes to my characters!
Hope you enjoy BvZ! I put a lot of hard work into it!

Ep. 3 - About Stars, Fireflies and Dandelions
Hello everyone,
Welcome back to Danbi’s Room, your weekly dose of safe space. Grab a cup of something warm and get yourself cosy.
I hope you had a nice week and that you’re doing well. If not, I really pray everything gets better soon! But don’t forget that not being okay is also totally valid and normal. While it is natural to wish for things to change and to get away from pain, we must still remember it’s all part of life, it’s all part of the process and we’re not alone. We have each other. As far as I’m concerned, if you’re having a hard time you can come to me. I’ll be right here. Community is important, being there for each other is essential: everything is interconnected. Macro and micro are the same, they’re the mirror of each other. As the neurons in our brains have the same structure of the mycelium in the soil and of the stars in the deep universe. The stars. Those big pearls in the sky. One of the things that fascinates me the most about them is that, because of how light travels, when we stargaze we’re literally having a look at the past. Not only that, we’re also getting a glimpse of our own personal past. I mean we all know we were stars in the past don’t we? When the universe was formed all the matter was already there, us included. We just had a different shape. We were stars. We are stars. We still have chemical compounds you can find in stars. You see? We are actually made of stardust. I like to think (and I’m quite sure about this) that when we find our people it’s because we recognize them, they are from the same star as us. That would make sense wouldn’t it? We look at the sky asking for directions from our past: where to find our soulmates? The answers may not be easy to understand, but if you pause for a moment you will hear the universe whispering to you, suggesting where you need to look for your companions. And there are little helpers everywhere. For example, what about dandelions? In their yellow form they are little stars disseminated all around, pinches of light shining in every corner. Think about this the next time you see a dandelion. Because then they become grey and as wind blows through them they fly carrying our wishes and our hopes. They go all over the place, but, you know, each and every petal still comes from the same dandelion. Do you see where I’m going with this? Witnessing this process is like observing our future: we all return to the soil, living again as nourishment for the Earth. And then? And then we spread our wings again as little fireflies. Those amazing stars roaming our beloved planet. So fragile yet so strong. They are guides that lighten up our path, closer whisperers who aid space stars in reminding us where we belong and where we need to head. Sometimes it is multiple places and multiple things. But it makes sense, with so many stars. You can dance with them. You can dance floating on dandelions, surrounded by fireflies under billions of stars. There you experience the love of the whole universe. The universe is limitless right? As the love spreading all around it. Maybe that’s actually even more limitless - I know it’s a weird way to say it but you got it. It’s just that we continuously forget about it. Oh we humans are so forgetful! Even if we’re surrounded by love and stars. We’re blinded by this horrible avalanche of rejection. Rejection towards ourselves, our peers, our Mother Nature, our inner children. We’re not made to hate this much. We are, again, made to dance floating on dandelions, surrounded by fireflies, under billions of stars. We’re made to explode with love and continuously be amazed at how much we can still create. As I said last time, we’re love.
I will conclude here for this episode. It’s a bit shorter and it’s a bit messy ahah…it was quite an emotional week for me :)
I hope you have a beautiful week and, as today’s Hug Day I send you an even bigger and warmer hug!
I’ll see you in the next!
With love, yours,
Danbi

reading update: april
let's go babyyyyyyy!!!!! WHAT have I been reading?
Cursed Bunny (Bora Chung, trans. Anton Hur 2022)
I added this short story collection to my TBR because I saw a reviewer call the first story the grossest thing they had ever read in their life, and you know what? that really was the grossest thing I've ever read in my life. I shan't even describe it because I'm eating and I don't want to ruin my lunch. but Chung writes a fascinating collection of sinister stories that dance across genre and offer up something strange to look at each time; do not let the awful poop baby scare you away.
White Noise (Don DeLillo, 1985)
I had no plans to read this book and in fact did not even know about it until a colleague told me about reading it for a class and then generously lent me her copy. it's an extremely clever book and also a maddening on that I wouldn't recommend to anybody; the ways in which DeLillo builds his commentary on class and consumerism and The Unbearable Shallowness Of It All is so deft and also made me feel like I personally was going insane. just pages and pages of brilliantly constructed drivel that means nothing and says so much. I think if the average booktokker had to explain this book they would explode and I should probably be on a watchlist for enjoying it.
Lunar Love (Lauren Kung Jessen, 2023)
this is hands down my favorite of romance novels I've read so far this year, because the protagonist, Olivia, it batshit fucking crazy. she's not supposed to be, we're probably supposed to just find her a little uptight and lovably neurotic, but she's absolutely unwell and reminded me of nothing so much as an early season Rebecca Bunch from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I spent the entire book waiting for her to attack someone or commit arson, because if you interpret the Chinese zodiac even a little wrong this woman goes fucking apeshit. tl;dr Olivia works for a matchmaking company based on the Chinese zodiac and truly, sincerely believes that real love cannot exist between people whose animal signs are incompatible; every time this worldview is challenged she has a fresh breakdown about it. the romance is whatever, the dialogue is nothing, and there isn't even any sex, but when I have to rank all twelve romance novels I read this year I strongly suspect Luna Love will be #1 because I support women's wrongs.
Shubiek Lubiek (Deena Mohamed, 2023)
a GORGEOUS (and massive) graphic novel about a world very similar to ours, with one little difference: magic wishes are real, and there's a tightly controlled industry surrounding who gets to use them and what they can wish for. Mohamed beings with an Egyptian shopkeeper, Shokry, currently trying to be rid of three very powerful wishes; what follows are three interconnecting stories of the people who buy Shokry's wishes and how their wishes complicate their lives. Mohamed beautifully balances magic and social commentary, examining every level of how wishes impact society. we see everything from a poor woman imprisoned in an effort to pressure her to sign over a wish to the government to an affluent but deeply depressed teen living in a gated community filled with pet dinosaurs, ending with a story about Shokry himself grappling with how to use the final wish to help a friend. reader, it did make me sob.
My Solo Exchange Diary Vol. 2 (Nagata Kabi, trans. Jocelyne Allen 2016)
there's not much I can say here that will be meaningfully different from what I said about Vol. 1 back in February. Nagata's memoir manga has just gotten to be such a little ray of sunshine for me; seeing her ongoing growth and struggles, the very relatable nonlinear progress, is affirming and devastating in equal measure. this volume in particular becomes much harsher with the benefit of hindsight - seeing her briefly hospitalized and struggling with drinking much more painful reading the book and knowing that her next release will be entirely centered around alcoholism and a much more serious hospital visit. for the love of god I just want this woman to be okay.
Mind of My Mind (Octavia E. Butler, 1977)
I would just like to say that I'm SO glad I decided to read the Patternist books in order of story chronology instead of release date, because if I had read this without spending all of Wild Seed getting to know what Doro's whole deal is I would have been lost at sea. as is, I will be upfront and say Mind of My Mind hasn't been my favorite of Butler's books - it feels like more of a supplemental text than anything, a bit of bonus content to explain the wider world of the Patternists that I know is coming, without the outstanding grace of Wild Seed. but I DO love some unhinged cult behavior, and goddamn does Butler deliver on that front. these telepaths are completely willing to go full cult after, like, two weeks of cohabiting against their will, and frankly I love that level of dysfunction for them.
Priory of the Orange Tree (Samantha Shannon, 2019) - after years of avoiding this fucking behemoth of a book I finally read it, and I'm delighted to report that it's... pretty good? it's fine. it's still unforgivably long and the prose frequently feels a little artless, but if you like a dense-ass fantasy book filled with people who have silly names debating the politics of dragons and magic gemstones in made-up places then you will have a blast. personally I love that shit, so I can wholeheartedly endorse.
Her Body and Other Parties (Carmen Maria Machado, 2017)
I've been rereading Machado's short story collection at a snail's pace, and having finally finished I'm delighted to say: this shit still fucks! I feel like I almost understood "The Resident" this time; definitely more than I ever have before. I'll get it some of these days!
My Alcoholic Escape From Reality (Nagata Kabi, trans. Jocelyne Allen 2019)
oh look, it's the much sadder memoir manga that I said was coming! I gave up all pretense of trying to pace myself this month and grabbed the next volume of Nagata's story from the library pretty much immediately; oddly, the first and fourth seem to be the only ones they have. seeing Nagata's slide back into alcoholism was rough, of course, but I was extremely impressed by the way she managed to so thoroughly translate the pain and tedium of her long hospital stay and pancreatitis diagnosis onto the page. her illustrations of food as she adjusted to her new diet were especially delightful; I felt like I could really feel the joy of discovering new treats that were safe to eat right alongside her. much is made in this book about Nagata's desire to branch out into fiction manga alongside her memoirs, and I'm curious to learn where that part of her career has gone.

Hello! ✨ For the random headcanon meme if you'd like... For Eury:
☃  : What is your muse’s favorite season?
☘ : Does your muse believe in luck? How about fate?
❀ : What is your muse’s opinion about flower crowns?
♞ : What is your muse’s favorite animal?
Of course feel free to skip those questions you may not wish to answer! :3
Oh! So many!! I'm so excited thank you!!
(leaving out ❀ and ☘ cause I answered in another ask)
☃  : What is your muse’s favorite season?
Summer! The season she can do what ever she wants. Everything is bright and new, there's plenty of fruit and vegetables to harvest, she doesn't have to wear layers. She can sit in the sun or in the shade, the nights are cool and all the best bugs and animals are out to observe. No one comes looking for her either. She could spend hours alone in the beautiful green forest on her own and be at peace. Also it is her birthday season and she really doesn't care about that but it does feel as if she and the summer are interconnected because of it.
♞ : What is your muse’s favorite animal?
Halla halla halla halla halla!!!! HALLA! Eurydice loves hallas more than anything in the world. She loves every mount and most, if not all animals (I really can't think of any she hates, actually) but halla? Halla and her special. There were and still are her hyperfixation since she was a toddler with her grandmother telling her stories of halla and the great Ghilan'nain. They were her only friends, her refuge from the loud and complicated world that judged her for not doing the right things at the right time or speaking oddly. Halla don't care about eye content or touch, they don't demand you to act in certain ways or yank on your for standing wrong, they only ask for respect and kindness. They have let her rest on their flank when she was small, wrapping around her like she was their own kin. That's the saddest thing about her magic: it stole her dreams away. Had she never been a mage, she would have become a Halla Mistress with her sister and she would have been so caught. The day the Keeper caught wind of her first flame was the day Eurydice lost her bonds to the halla and Melia. She has never been able to hold either the way ever again. They are fascinating creatures with an intelligence most can not begin to comprehend. Legends speak of a mabari and its bond to its master, but never is much spoke of when a halla and an elf share one heart, one mind. When one is bonded with a halla, there is nothing else like it. They speak to each other through look and feeling alone. And they're kind. They accept so many wounded creatures to their herd and care for them. They are graceful in their deadliness; to be at the end of their sharp horn is to die an agonizing death. And gosh are they funny, silly things. Not many things can make Eurydice giggle, but halla do every time just by chew on her hair. Fun fact: when she found the halla in the Exalted Plans, she was so happy she refused leave for days. Eventually, when not even a note from Cullen could get her to go, Bull had to pick her up and carry her away. She didn't talk to him for two weeks.

How are you feeling about the young justice news? I’m lowkey in denial about it and trying to hold on some form of hope.
Well…
Tumblr media
It all kinda sucks to be honest - though I am of the mind that there always a chance until they officially say there isn’t… which maybe also puts me in the denial column - but that’s what I’m going with 👍. Clearly there’s a lot going down with hbo max and Warner bros. (a lot that I’m not even gonna try and comprehend) but from what I heard, hbo max is getting merged with discovery plus to make a new streaming site - which to me meant there was probably no chance of any kind of renewal information for anything until TPTB got at least some of their shit sorted out with this restructuring malarkey. Guess I’m not absolutely losing it at the minute because I wasn’t really expecting to hear any good news for the time being - I’m just sorta seeing what happens.
One thing I will say about hbo max and its content is that they really need to do something about the fact that it’s not available outside the US. They have been denying so many people the opportunity to actually financially support the content they love - which makes absolutely no sense to me. I am someone who can’t access hbo max and therefore has had to find other means of watching this show that I absolutely love and want to follow along with the rest of the fandom - all because hbo max won’t let me give them my money… MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!! Now, the problem with using those other means is that it don’t help the show - I’m not paying to watch it as is intended - therefore TPTB can’t see my continued support because I haven’t gone through the official streaming site where those numbers are tracked. I want to support this show - I want to invest my money in supporting this show - but I can’t* - which totally sucks - and I know I keep repeating myself here - but it’s all so stupid!!!!
*except, that is, with the comics which I am buying both the digital and physical print versions of - so at least there that now… and I will be buying s4 when (if) it’s available for purchase elsewhere like S3 was… but is that enough? Probably not with the way things are going at the minute.
The other thing I keep thinking about with the information I’ve heard is that, the dude in charge basically wants to fix the dc cinematic universe so it’s more like the mcu with an actual 10 year plan and feels like y’know the actual comics universe brought to the screen… and I’m just like - you mean like what Greg and Brandon have been doing with young justice since day one?! Whether you like the stories they tell, or not, I don’t think anyone can deny that there’s an immense about of depth to this shows universe - it feels real and lived in - there’s history upon history that exists within it and it’s all so fascinating as I just want to know everything about everyone! I stand by my belief that nothing has ever captured and maintained my attention quite like YJ. I’m obsessed and I don’t even care because it is such a remarkable piece of creative construction that deserves to be explored and analysed and obsessed over. It doesn’t just copy and paste things straight from the comics or do the same things everyone does with the characters - grandon think and reconstruct and adapt things to make them concise and interconnected for the story the want to tell… and a hell of a lot less problematic in some cases! The characters have emotions and complexities and flaws and hopes and fears and histories - yj can put a character on the screen for 5 minutes and have me hooked on them - or they can have 5+ hours worth of exploration and development and I can write post after post after post with my current interpretations and understanding of their character as if they were a real living person. I love this show because there is love put into every aspect of it - and that is always something worth protecting and supporting!
I realise this has gotten kinda long (as usual) but what can I say, I don’t have anyone in my life to rant about these things to… I genuinely tried doing that today and all I got were cricket sounds… which is why, no matter what the outcome is with the future of the show, I will likely still remain here, ranting my random thoughts to whoever the heck wants to listen… (unless life dictates otherwise.) I am determined to get through the major backlog of asks that currently fill my inbox (honestly, I consider it shameful for how bad I’ve let it get - all I can say is I’m slow and my brain never works when I want it to… I apologise!) My goal is to get them done by the years end… but we will see if that happens.
Anyway, thank you for asking Anon - I shall be holding out hope with you! #SAVEYOUNGJUSTICE!💛

Before Miami Grand Prix, Formula 1 driver leads climate change roundtable:
Sebastian Vettel, four-time winner of the World Drivers' Championship, was a few miles away in tony Miami Shores. Under a tent in the lush botanical garden of the design firm and retailer, Plant the Future, Vettel held court with a dozen scientists, engineers, land use experts, non-government organization leaders, entrepreneurs, a cinematographer and others steeped not in auto racing but climate change
For nearly two hours, Vettel listened and questioned as the roundtable discussion veered and careened from apocalyptic scenarios to solutions, from fatalistic pessimism to hopeful optimism.
• "I find it fascinating at how everything is interconnected,We are all fascinated by nature. But where we're going, we're giving nature, and ourselves in nature, no chance. That's where I see the enormous potential in trying simply, in the first place, to raise awareness and addressing this especially to young people”
Vettel noted in the discussion that he is aware that auto racing, with its emissions, opens him up to questions of hypocrisy. He even conceded he was "shocked" the first time he calculated the estimated carbon emissions from his race car from a full season's worth of racetrack laps.
• The issue, he said, "comes down to education" and learning about ways to offset impacts and reduce carbon output into the atmosphere.
• "The difficult thing is the moment you start [scolding] people there is an immediate defense strategy in terms of, 'Yeah but you're not going to take this away from me,'" he said. "That's why I think it's incredibly inspiring when new solutions come in."

Humans fucking fascinate me bro like- we spawned into a world and used to gather berries and use sharpened sticks to hunt and after all that we made vaccines??? Like??? Huh?? How did we get here??? We used to think diseases were from god or something and now we inject weakened viruses into ourselves to avoid getting sick??? Oh my god
Like
Wow
Yk?? We sent people to the MOON?? We have a building in SPACE?? A building thats a collaboration of countries all over the world?? A building that helped advance science in all aspects of our lives?? We can talk to people in the other side of the world with a few clicks- even this post, who knows how many people from different parts of the world, with different cultures will see it?
From gatherer society to one thats so interconnected and so scientifically advanced in such a short amount of time??
I forgot the details but i read somewhere that it took us longer to discover farming then it took us to go into space(after we found farming) and thats like
wow
We automated almost everything in our lives, so many things can be done without the touch of humans, we take our machines for granted in our day to day lives, not knowing what we would do without them
And thats so impressive
We took pictures of a BLACK HOLE for gods sake. We took pictures of something that aborbs ALL the light around it, and yet we still took a picture of it? We mapped out the universe around us, we sent machines onto planets so that we could do more research
We sent out humans to the roughest places to do science so that we can better our understanding of what goes around us
Do you think life in the south pole is easy? Life in the international space station? Its not but people willingly went there, put themselves in the roughest conditions for science and to better the world around us.
We have shaped our planet to suit our needs and we are working on machines to shape the universe around us, theyre working on a way to mine asteroids currently and do you realise how cool that is?
Human lifespans used to be so short and now we have more then tripled that.
We built structures that might outlast humanity, we sent out plaques with knowledge about humanity hoping it might randomly stumble upon another civilisation. We sent out a voice recording of the different ways human greet eachother with those plaques.
We built robots that sing themselves happy birthday and put them on another planet, thousands of kilometres away from us. We made it so those robots send out poems telling us not to cry after they inevitably run out of charge. Yet we still grieve after them dont we?
We build robots to have human traits, we see animals and give them human traits. Humans are such simple creatures and yet so amazing.
We spawned in, knowing nothing about the world around us. We built kingdoms and watched as they burned, we built empires and watched as they burned, we built so much and watcbed as they burned
But by making mistakes we learned. We learned so much. We learned how to heal ourselves, we learned so much.
And we dreamed
We dreamed of reaching for the stars and we did. We dreamed of reaching for the other planets, and we did.
We accomplished so much and thats just the start. With what we learned from atoms and atomic energy, we are on our way to make so much more. We will never stop learning and thats what makes us so fascinating isint it?
Some say that we improved too much, that the human mind wasnt meant to know this much, or live in such huge communities but that never stopped us did it?

no but genuinely HOLY SHIT. i know i went into this trusting u that it was good but i was not expecting that. i love getting to see media where i can completely understand what's going on at least in a sense of storytelling structure it's just. so much fun.
I am so glad you trusted me and are trying it out because holy shit is so right. Like holy fucking shit. Words cannot properly convey the experience of watching Black Sails. It changes you fundamentally as a person.
I think I said this before (I'm getting mixed up in my excitement), but I'm so eager to see what you think once you've watched more. Because, as with many stories, as you learn more you discover things that change what you thought you knew. And cast them in a new light. Like things I learned about characters in the last seasons are affecting how I understand their actions and motivations in the first, you know? So i'm really excited for you to get all that and experience it all
And just the way the stories intersect and how interconnected and yet distinct everything is is so much fun. The series is heart breaking and fascinating and inspiring and contemplative and so so so delightfully entertaining. It captures you from the first moment and its like. There's no going back

It's really interesting and says a lot to me about how the fandom seems to view these series' vs. How the series' seem to actually be made.
Like the fandom tends to get rlly rlly ATTACHED to certain characters and their stories. They like to expound upon those stories and dig deep into the "lore" in order to find more to embellish them, and they like to feel like the characters/stories they love all connect together. Because they like them, and they see potential in that "interconnected" sort of thing. The fandom (in general a lot of fandoms) likes to feel like there's some big greater purpose, or something to LEAD to that will make all the time they invested in these characters pay off. They want to see more of the characters they are already attached to, they want to see things they already know and want them to play a part.
While I think the goal Mark has had with his viewer insert serieses is to have really well put together one off adventures, that can stand alone and be good in their own right. I think from what he's said, he would rather there be a large THEMATIC narrative over everything that he creates, instead of a large chronological STORY narrative that continues on over and over. And whatever characters he needs to create, or bring back, in order to get what he wants from a story/theme, he will use.
There isn't anything wrong with the way fandom sees things! I feel the same ways a lot of the time. I think the very fact that Mark braught back so many beloved characters from Heist and teases us with his "tricks" so much, really shows that he embraces the love and passion we have for his characters and worlds. As he's said before: he's HAPPY we like the shows, he's HAPPY we like yancy/dark/actor etc. He has no problem and from the recent stream, ENCOURAGES us to make our own stories with them and expand and headcannon however much we want.
I guess it's just interesting to me. Like, why the disconnect is there in the first place? How did it start? Maybe because his work started mostly with 1 off sketches that later started to become interconnected as he kept bringing back characters? Idk! It's just fascinating to me.

tim rogers’ essays and novels are a rabbit hole. it’s wild how many of them work as a ‘single piece’ but when you read another that goes more in-depth about something in that first one and it just recontextualizes the whole interaction, sometimes the whole essay. anyway, I definitely enjoy the experience.
it's fascinating! i don't think he ever intends to make it that way, but the interconnected nature of everything he has made is a great example of how canon can be used to enhance stories
and another thing is, rogers' doesn't always frame his life the same way. his writing stretches over 20 years and no one person will have a consistent view of themself over such a time. but the interesting thing is, you get a view of not only who he was at the time he's describing, but also at the time he was writing the piece, too. it ends up being a fascinating tapestry, especially because he is still clearly intentional about what he mentions and doesn't mention— in the Doom review, for example, he talks about how he didn't have friends in high school and didn't talk to anyone, but in his autobiography, he also mentions that he was non-verbal for much of high school. mentioning it in one place but not in another is clearly a part of establishing a narrative for the essay at hand
and there's a whole aspect of this about how rogers' turns himself into a character for these works. everyone who has ever written about themselves has participated in this to a degree, as well as anyone with a career of being themself, but through this method of including or excluding information, he takes it further
it's also interesting to see his writing vs his video works, because there's a difference in what he's willing to say and what he's willing to say

hello abby bestie i have a few questions
what is succession
is it good
should i watch it
are there pathetic loser characters
are there gay people
HIIII BESTIE i am so happy to answer these!!!
so at its core it's a show about the Roy family who are like a huge famous media mogul family. i think it's largely about business and capitalism and complex familial relationships and trauma and how all of these are interconnected
personally I think it's very good! in terms of writing, acting, and cinematography it is all top-notch. the one thing I will say is that it took me a while to really get into it - the first few eps I think are a bit slow and also the business jargon that they use can sometimes be a bit alienating and hard to follow. but I do think it only really gets better.
yaaaaassssss I think so fhdjskdfhk. i really recommend it to everyone <3 its a great show
YES IT IS LITERALLY THE PATHETIC LOSER CHARACTER SHOW!!!!! like everyone is so pathetic in their own way but they're all trying so hard to not be/feel pathetic and that is so fascinating and yummy to watch lololol. most pathetic characters are probably Kendall and Tom who are very much fan favourites.
it is very easy to interpret many of the characters as gay, and I also consider one of the main kids to be canonically queer. there's some more minor queer characters as well. there's a lot of very unconventional relationships/dynamics that Do Not read as straight and I also feel like sex/sexuality is a big component of the show (bc everything is sex!! except sex! which is power!) and so there's a lot of very interesting analysis that can happen there.
in short I DO RECOMMEND IT as its a very good show and also the fandom(?) culture online for it is really fun in my experience lol, there's a lot of incredible memes and art and analysis done for it so all in all its very enjoyable. and if you do end up watching it please talk to me about it!!!!!! <33333

rambling about Sonic Frontiers
Yeah so a couple days ago I 100% completed Sonic Frontiers, woo. And this post is just gonna be some rambling thoughts I have on the game as a whole and stuff. Spoiler warning obviously, though this’ll be text only so don’t worry about like visual spoilers. For some prerequisite information that probably doesn’t matter much, I played the physical version of the game on Nintendo Switch, I played it on hard mode, I was going completionist mode and trying to do literally everything, and I was able to do that all in just under 22 hours total. Also I had basically every control slider turned up to max except camera stuffs, turning speeds, and starting speed. I think that’s everything worth mentioning? So just gonna get into it I suppose. Fully embracing that this is gonna probably be incoherent, but hey.
First of all more than anything I think Frontiers already feels like a difficult game to talk about lol. For quite a couple of reasons, really. It’s the first mainline Sonic game in 5 years and it’s the first attempt at a formula as different as this, so already the playing field is a lot different. And that formula also invites lots of specific discussion – it’s both a point of comparison with other series attempting similar titles (Breath of the Wild being everyone’s most immediate comparison) while also being strange in that. I kinda don’t know how to word this but, Sonic Team have been quite vocal that this is the style they want to take Sonic in over the next decade or whatever, that the reception to Frontiers will be really important. In that regard I think it feels really easy to slip into talking about Frontiers as a stepping stone, for lack of a better description. “For the next title they should improve on this element” types of discussion. That’s kind of a conversation I don’t want to have – Frontiers is a full price game release and deserves to be spoken about as it stands by itself, but I’m invariably gonna talk about it as a stepping stone anyway I imagine. But hey.
Following up on comparisons I feel like talking about the core gameplay loop in Frontiers is a good starting point. Breath of the Wild comparisons invite themselves just on the basis of that game’s sheer influence and critical reception, and hey Sonic’s boost metre is just the BotW stamina wheel lol. Though I actually think Frontiers is probably closer to something like Mario Odyssey in terms of gameplay loop. Miniature (actually they’re pretty big in Frontiers tbf) “open world” environments that aren’t interconnected at all but get to be fun sandboxes for you to run around in, loaded with tons of miniature objectives that you can probably complete in under a minute for a small reward. Get enough of said small rewards to move on. It’s a pretty fun gameplay loop really – if you like gathering trinkets then it’s simple dopamine, and I think they did a good job at finding miniature in-engine gameplay things that take advantage of Sonic’s moveset. Stuff like homing attacking an orb into hoops, sidestepping onto lit up tiles, running to some spot before a timer runs out. Decently satisfying fun little progress check. Unfortunately, not all of these challenges are built equal though. I’m open minded about doing things that aren’t just “Sonic things”, but dealing a certain amount of damage within the time limit, running in place for x seconds, or the worst offender – parrying projectiles – some of these are so simple that actually doing them becomes a complete chore that you’re just doing to get the completion. All of these tasks are too easy with insanely generous timers even on hard mode by the way, but the ones that have fun gameplay make up for it by being fun. So the bad ones stick out a lot more. Definitely if they’re gonna stick to this gameplay format going forward they really need to make the mini-objectives around the map stand out a lot more and provide more interesting challenges.
Cyberspace levels were fascinating. I think it’s easy to feel cynical about them, certainly there’s lots of reason to – all those statements about taking Sonic in a bold new direction being contrasted with them just having standard boost gameplay return. Featuring the same 3 environments that’ve been used in like every Sonic game over the past decade + generic city. And featuring old level designs in addition to that. If you want to move past the boost formula then move past it, and I kinda don’t even need to comment on the reused environments either. But idk they’re also quite fun tbf? Micro length enough to where if you don’t manage all objectives at once (though tbf these are also super easy to 100% in one go so…) then it doesn’t feel like a chore to replay them at all. Short length also makes optimising your completion time quite a bit easier than other Sonic games too which works out well for their diet-sized length and position in the gameplay loop. I also didn’t mind some of the reused level designs? Namely anything from the Adventure games – level designs taken from boost games are kind of a straight downgrade from their original incarnations but with adventure games it’s a different enough context and different enough controls to actually be quite fun. Sky Rail in particular feels refreshingly open and easy to get lost in in a good way. Really in spite of their weaknesses I still found cyberstage spaces largely fun and a nice simple change of place. Helps that their music fucked a lot too.
Combat was interesting. I quite like that it just gets to happen in the regular engine – Sonic’s open world boosting gameplay and being able to engage in combat with enemies don’t conflict with one another as separate styles a la Unleashed as the obvious comparison. Cyloop also means you can just run around weaker enemies to take them out really quickly too if you don’t want to engage in combat which is awesome. Enemies don’t even have loads of health anyway so my worries that it would just be very repetitive and button mashy didn’t really come true. Ends up feeling somewhat akin to Heroes combat if anything, but flashier and with somewhat more puzzle solving elements going on. I also enjoyed a good amount of the overworld bosses – thoughhhhhhhh some of them could take a little too long to fight which was a bit annoying oops. But they’re cool still, I love their designs. Quite enjoyed Super Sonic’s boss fights as well – basically just the combat, but flashier. Giganto was really fucking challenging bc I went in without much upgrades and only had 100 rings so holy shit dealing that much damage in that little time was great fun. I was kinda disappointed in the other Super Sonic fights being comparatively easy as fuck but I think that’s just bc I was upgraded by then and had plenty of rings. On a replay I might attempt them without any upgrades and with a smaller amount of rings. Would’ve been nice if you could refight the bosses because they’re a very fun spectacle. The fact that they just are the base game’s combat but on steroids also puts them above most Super Sonic final bosses in the rest of the series, and we get fucking 4 of them! That’s awesome.
Though naturally I do have to. Talk about the true final boss now. Only accessible on hard mode is The End – a schmup encounter against the moon. It’s… hmmm. Technically it is an evolution of an earlier concept since hey the bullet hell stuff appeared like two or three times earlier in the game, and this is just more of that. But it feels so… out of left field anyway? None of the other random outside-usual-engine minigames like pinball (obligatory fuck the pinball btw) get evolved in that sense, so why have the bullet hell keep going, let alone for the true final boss? How is that building on an open world combative Sonic? The bullet hell formations (or danmaku if you want) aren’t even that special either lol. Idk it just leaves the whole thing feeling somewhat anticlimactic. But if you do it on normal mode it cuts it out in a really awkward way and like cuts to black loading screens like 5 times? There’s no way to have a good true final boss experience in this game huh.
Tbh the latter part of the game has already received quite a mixed reception for feeling more “rushed” than the main 3 islands. And it’s easy to see why – game’s definitely most outright fun for the first 2 islands. Traversal is pretty annoyingly difficult on the 3rd island and it has a bit too many 2D segments to lock you into in this open world game. But the 4th island is just a short story sequence set on the 1st island’s actual map lol, just pretending it’s different so the box can say it has 5 islands. Tbf actually I fucked hard with the story sequence in question and the gameplay of climbing the towers is some of the most challenging and fun platforming in the game. I enjoy the 5th island more than I think some others do but it’s pretty hmm that Sage has the same memory tokens as Amy, and it’d certainly be nice if the environment was more distinctive considering it’s another green plains and forests area like island 1. Also this is purely a like misc thought but Frontiers is one of those games where if you beat the final boss you just go back to the save before it. So while you can “100% complete” the final island you’re gonna have 5 Chaos Emeralds instead of all 7 and just permanently have the “go do the thing” final objective. I don’t really like this trope in any game but it especially annoys me in this for some reason. Just let me beat the game forever dude! Then just throw some postgame shit everywhere idk.
I went to shit between writing that paragraph and this one. I think I was probably gonna talk about the story now? And this is like, the best characterisation for Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy we’ve had in years in terms of the game. They’re just very true to the best traits these characters have, all super well realised and giving them lots of room to grow as well. This is just the most earnestly they’ve been able to be actual characters and interact with one another that we’ve seen in years – as opposed to just templates for jokes. It’s awesome. I think the cutscene choreography could be a bit better, there are lots of cutscenes that are just characters standing around and talking, but god am I glad to be able to enjoy what they’re saying. I’m not as into Eggman for whom the attempts to like, humanise him and make him sympathetic just aren’t really what I like out of my Eggmen, where’s the callous narcissistic manchild bastard gone off to? Sage is a nice new character, I like her, very cute, arc is very simplistic but we’re cool with that. Just the core story as well of finding the Chaos Emeralds on these seemingly new islands but then some alternate reality rips everyone into it and Sonic has to save the day, it’s quite simple as a premise but they get some good mileage out of it and also like. This is where we get to the part which probably blows my mind the most. We’ve not really had a Sonic game add new lore to the series in like, over a decade. It’s kind of a status quo series anyway but everything from like 3&K through to like Shadow maybe was actually doing lots for the worldbuilding of this series in the background. And then it kinda just stopped. Frontiers changes that! It adds things! The Chaos Emeralds were brought to Earth by an ancient race resembling Chaos, the God of Destruction! Those guys were on the run from a being called The End! Which we don’t even beat at the end of the game anyway! New recurring antagonist? Hey I’m conceptually up for it! I don’t know how to feel about the new lore because I’ve literally never in my adult life had to digest the mere fucking idea of new Sonic lore but here we are! That’s still cool actually! I’m hype.
I don’t know if I have any other specific thoughts as it stands. The funky thing about Frontiers is that nitpicks, strange design decisions, full on criticisms – I can throw it all at the game but also. The core experience of playing Frontiers is actually just really fun lol. Like, genuinely just simply enjoyable being Sonic and running around in these environments and gathering trinkets and doing neat minigames and listening to the music and fishing and it’s. Like I just like it a lot dude! My thoughts are super preliminary – I’ve played the game once, I’ve not really been consuming other people’s opinions much, the game’s been out for less than a week. Like, there’s a lot of things that I’m sure will change about how I and the general public and Sonic fans will feel about this game. But as it stands my one playthrough just felt like a really fun time to actually sit down and do. Idk game’s just good lol.
Incoherent post, yeah. I have no ending for it either.

Creator Spotlight #20: worldsofdreamers
Welcome back to the TWW Author Spotlight! For every spotlight, we’ll ask each featured author the same ten questions (as well as questions you submitted on Twitter!). This week we’re sitting down with @worldsofdreamers (worldsofdreamers on ao3)!
1) What are your top 5 desert island fics by other authors?
Healthcare Reform by hufflepuffhermione This fic is one of those that had me itching to read each update as soon as the notification hit my inbox. Absolutely everything I could have wanted in a season six au and more. The angst and romance are perfectly balanced and the transition from marriage of convenience to more had me tossing my phone across the couch more than I care to admit. Captures the magic of Josh and Donna beautifully and truly just how much of a dumbass that man is when it comes to his feelings.
just stay this little by mikaylawrites a sweet fluffy filled post canon josh and donna and their babies fic. So sweet and heartwarming I cry every time I read it. Happy families are my weakness and my oh my are they happy here. The perfect pick me up fic.
Yichud by Lily_Padd_23 a short lovely Sam and Josh fic that takes place after they get married. One of the first fics I read with this pairing as I was exploring the archive in this fandom, long before I ever considered writing fanfic again or for this fandom. I really love how it captures their dynamic and the jokey, easy-going nature of their love. The way it’s clear that they are best friends and lovers is something special and reminds me so much of my own relationship. They are absolute dorks and I love them so much it hurts.
brothers in arms by hufflepuffhermione A character study of Josh that is so unbelievably gorgeous it rips your heart out and knits you back together. I reread it recently and it’s just as poignant and impactful as the first time. In my book it’s required reading for anyone who loves Josh, found family, and interconnected stories. I could go on and on about how much I love chosen family but I’ll refrain if y’all just go read this fic as soon as possible. Have tissues nearby because you’ll need them.
for every year’s a souvenir by crossingdelancey A CJ and Toby fic with some background Josh and Donna. It has everything I love in a story from The West Wing universe, chosen family, Josh being CJ’s annoying little brother, plus a second chance romance for CJ and Toby with a family to boot, and a happy ending for all of them. What more could you possibly want? Other than more that is, an absolutely stunning fic all around.
2) Do you have a favorite character to write? Favorite ship(s) to write? Are there characters or ships you'd like to write more of?
I like writing Sam a lot, he is on-screen a lot but we don’t always see into his head like we do with some of the others. He’s a good canvas to play with and create a backstory that serves for whatever story you want to tell. Plus the information we do have about him creates touchstones to build from. His complex family structure and background as a writer are something that all my narrators typically share across original and fan works so he’s very easy for me to fall into writing. The typical advice is write what you know after all (even if I don’t particularly think that’s great advice all the time).
Currently I only write Sam/Josh and that’s really fun for me but once this story cycle reaches a logical conclusion I’m open to writing other pairings if the right idea comes along. I find the dynamic between Toby and Congresswoman Wyatt fascinating, especially in my current watch through of the series.
3) Tell us about your writing process (setup/location? Night or day? Snacks/beverages? Computer/phone/notebook? Music or silence? Anything else you want to share is welcome!)
Generally my ideal writing circumstances are the same when it comes to original fiction or fanfiction. Block out all the noise around me with noise canceling headphones and a character playlist. As someone with ADHD it’s vital to be able to tune into what I'm doing with as little outside distraction as possible. I use google docs for the actual story because I can write and edit on multiple devices without having to worry about flash drives and then physical notes in a designated book depending on the project. I have to have music, at least two beverages, usually one that’s caffeinated, and if at all possible a blank wall ahead of me.
My process for West Wing fics specifically starts with watching the source material that overlaps with wherever the AU is headed and cherry picking the moments that are relevant in the larger context of this universe as well as backrought things going on in the administration. Typically this also serves as a way back to a Sorkin-esque style from my original fiction. I also make a point of tracking Sam/Josh and any other relevant characters, specifically the interactions they have with each other. I also love researching moments of real world politics both of the time the story occurs and present day and leaving them around as easter eggs for the government dorks of the world like me.
Typically there are also a few songs from my obnoxiously large music library that become the soundtrack of a piece and that’s how the “title track” comes out. With my most recent fic Secrets (Just to keep you) the title track was Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift. The whole time I was writing this story I was listening to a lot of the unreleased tracks as well as Adore You from Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson’s album Walls, and Taylor Swift’s reputation which just beautifully fit the feeling of a secret love that you’re desperately trying to keep under wraps, the heat and tension that bubbles over when you’re finally alone with that person and the secrets we all carry around.
 4) What writing advice do you have for others who may be reading this?
You can’t force inspiration or at least I can’t. She sort of just comes to you, I've found the more I read, listen to, and watch the more she finds me.
At least that’s what happened when I considered writing in this fandom. I’d just watched Season 1 episode 19 Let Bartlet Be Bartlet the night before and was in the car on the way to get groceries or something and was listening to the Harry Styles and the line “Kiss her and don’t tell” from his song Keep Driving got stuck and all through the store I was thinking about that episode and what would change if we as the audience knew Sam was bisexual and had this unexplored history of allyship? Why was he the one in the room with the guys from the DOD taking the meeting about DADT? It sort of snowballed from there into a character study in my notes app and then a fic of the same name came out.
 5) From where do you usually draw your inspiration? (Other forms of media, music, tropes, etc?)
Usually fleeting moments in the canon mixed with a song lyric and the question what if?
Sam and Josh having a cat that Josh is at odds with in my universe came from the line about Josh yelling at Donna’s roommate’s cats. It made my partner laugh the first time we watched the series together and now every time the line comes up he brings it up.
The whole idea of exploring a long term relationship between Josh and Sam has been ping ponging around for years in my mind because of the interactions they have at Gage-Whitney and on the street outside.
I’ve been a fan of the show for nearly two decades so I have a lot of history with the characters and there are sometimes when a song just clicks for them or a moment in the show.
 6) What is the fic you've written that you're most proud of and why?
Probably Secrets (just to keep you). It’s my longest fanwork to date and I really enjoyed writing a summer romance over the summer. I’m a sucker for romances that are equal parts tender and spicy and while there are things I’d change about the process I’m proud of the fact I actually put it out in the world.
 7) What's the fic trope/concept/AU you'd read 1000 of? What's the fic trope/concept/AU you'd write 1000 of?
I’m a sucker for a friends to lovers arc and a clandestine romance. I will watch or read the “oh shit… I love them” moment over and over again.
I love a second chance romance and will read or write them until the end of my days. I love exploring how you find your way back to someone who hurt you and who you also hurt. The negotiations of it and the exercise in trust it takes to open yourself up to the potential of being hurt again.
When it comes to writing I’m a big fan of stories that deep dive into the small moments in canon and attempt to bring more depth to characters.
 8) Is there anything you'd like to try writing-wise that you haven't yet?
I don’t typically write m/f main pairings in anything I do but I’d love to write something about Toby and Andy pre-canon. I think if the right idea came along it could be a really interesting character study. It would also give me the opportunity to humanize and flesh out the grumpy men of The West Wing which is one of my favorite things to do. Also I love Andy so much she always steals the scene for me.
 9) What's your go-to Starbucks/coffee shop/other drink order?
Always the largest available size of cold brew or iced coffee, with one or two packets of sweet and low. If I'm feeling fancy I add a splash of oat milk and a pump or two of cinnamon syrup.
Whenever possible, Dunkin or a mom and pop shop over Starbucks. I have chronically bad luck with Starbucks beans being burnt or my drink being undrinkable in some other way like getting dairy milk instead of plant milk. I've stopped risking it.
 10) Do you have any current projects you'd like to promote or anything upcoming you'd like to tell us about?
My ongoing AU series Love of my life has five entries currently with at least two more on the way. Whichever tumbles out faster will be the next update tentatively scheduled sometime before Valentine’s.
The first one, Holy Orange Bottles, a multi-chapter post-rosslyn recovery story through the eyes of Donna, Sam, and Josh’s mom. It explores the sheer amount of tragedy that has hit the Lyman family and how the four of them (and Harry the cat) work together towards a new normal. It’s pretty emotionally taxing for obvious reasons so I’ve been tackling it in small chunks. The title comes from the Taylor Swift song Soon You’ll Get Better and the chapter titles come from The Mountain Goats song Matthew 25:21
I also have a one-shot that covers the portland trip in season two titled A Clock That’s Ticking. It’s the first one I’m writing from Josh’s Pov and covers the meeting with Congressman Skinner and what would change if he knew about the election night conversation between the President and Dr. Jacobs. I also wondered what would change if after hearing the display of period/party typical allyship how Josh would address the assignment. And without giving too much away what would happen if Josh revealed his identity to Leo and the president. The title for this one comes from Holding onto Heartache by Louis Tomlinson which from the first listen hit me as such a Josh song and instantly became the title track to the piece despite the fic being nothing more than a series of scribbled notes when that album dropped in November.
 Submitted questions:
From @S4MWILS0N: fave ep ? fave season ? fave plot arc ? fave character ? fave character duo (platonic and romantic) ? actor you’d most like to meet irl ? plot line you wish you could get rid of ? funniest and most poignant one liner ?
Episode: Five Votes Down (Season 1 Episode 4) Ultimate comfort episode and I watched it so much during the 2020 election cycle after hard campaign vol days that I can still quote it word for word.
Season: Season 2 without question.
Plot Arc: It’s tied between the MS storyline and the post-in the shadow of two gunmen PTSD arc.
Favorite character: When it comes to a favorite character it feels nearly impossible to pick just one. It fluctuates so much depending on where I am in the series or if someone is asking senior staff/assistant level or recurring character. Right now though it’s probably CJ, but I will always be a Josh fan with all that I am. From the first episode I watched nearly two decades ago he’s always been a forever favorite. I love that disaster of a man so much.
Romantic Duo: I think it’s nearly impossible to walk away from a viewing of The West Wing without a deep affection for Josh and Donna, even as someone who strictly writes in an alternate timeline where they never were or will be together.
Platonic Duo: Currently it’s Margaret and Leo, it changes a lot but I love watching them so much.
Actor: Allison, I would probably collapse to be fair but Allison.
As much as it would be cool meeting Bradley or Richard would be way too much for me.
Plot line you’d get rid of: Toby and the leak, because what the hell was that.
One liner: either “There’s literally no one in the world I don’t hate right now” or “I’m so sick of congress I could vomit”.
Infinitely applicable to modern American politics, especially recently with the speaker vote. Also the grumpy nature of Toby Ziegler in that episode speaks to my soul on such a deep level.
From the editors (borrowed from a past Q&A, originally asked by @donnamossburner): what’s a fic that’s been sitting in the back of your mind forever and you hope one day you can finally write it?
A somebody’s going to emergency, somebody’s going to jail Sam/Josh alternating pov deep dive because the scene where Leo tells Sam to go home and that Josh told Leo about Sam’s parents haunts me. I can just imagine Josh telling Leo as a last effort of trying to reach Sam. It’s well documented throughout the series that Josh looks at Leo as a sort of father figure so I see him going to him for advice and it all comes tumbling out, his fears and doubts and how he just wants to help but can’t. In my mind it parallels The Crackpots and these women with the N.S.C. card and the conversations Josh has with various folks about it and how lost he is.
Thanks again to worldsofdreamers!! And thanks to everyone who submitted questions. If you’d like to be featured in a future Creator Spotlight, message us here, email [email protected] or DM us on Twitter!
xx, What’s next?
