Yeah I love that Ace attorney ship where one of them is a grumpy professional autistic coded orphan who grew up in a foreign country after their parents died and was taken in by a lawyer who's biological kid became one of the main prosecutors, yeah they leave their job and starts soul searching in the second game of their trilogy after a deeply traumatic event and only come back to save their best friend and come in as a surprise player in the final case.

Yeah and the other one is an unprofessional bi chaotic force of nature musician who is way better at their job than the other even if they don't always win because they always adhere to their morals so it's always a win for them as long as justice is served. They're primarily characterised by being kind and always plaster on a facarde of happiness despite how deeply sad they are especially after how badly they were severely traumatized by Kristoph and one of the games killers who they were incredibly close to but then betrayed by. They live with their heart on their sleeve and continue to trust and believe in people even though they are constantly betrayed and are so good at their job that they were called in by the Themis to be a speaker.

The dynamic is often the orphan getting more and more frustrated by their unprofessional shenanigans while also carrying a deep respect for them but never believing the feelings would be reciprocated even though it really obvious that they very much are to everyone else. They're rivals in the first game of their trilogy and the unprofessional one is way worse at investigating than the professional one who's really through.

Something about having absolutely no choice in who you marry. About being literally forced by the law to spill blood - to accept this stranger as your husband over a man you truly care for or accept the fact that the man you love might die because you put him in danger. Something about risking becoming the wife of a man you've never even seen before a few minutes prior because you know anything would be better than putting your beloved in harm's way. Something about the trust inherent in that decision and in the way she speaks of it after. Truthfully, T'Pring doesn't know the captain and she doesn't know Spock. Either one of them could have taken her as their wife but she does know Stonn. She knows that Stonn will remain by her side no matter what. They made a plan together. They have an agreement which T'Pring believes will be upheld even though the plan changed with the arrival of Kirk. Stonn will always be there, always, and Stonn will be hers. Something about the language used around T'Pring: Ownership, subservience, non-personhood. T'Pring is an object that Spock can win. She cannot reject him, she has no say in the matter other than having Stonn 'claim' her instead. Even when Spock leaves after being very clearly rejected by T'Pring he says "Stonn, she is yours." as if despite her clear rejection he still owns her and is must formally 'give' her to Stonn. But the language T'Pring uses around Stonn is a break from that: "There was Stonn who wanted very much to be my consort, and I wanted him." Stonn who wanted very much to be HER consort and she WANTED him. The language here is very particular - It's not, for example: "Stonn wanted me to be his wife" - he is HERS. And she WANTS him. There's a mutual affection there and a strong trust - a trust which seems to be well founded since Stonn (though silent) stands by her side at the end of the episode. <- That might seem small but if Spock would reject her for 'daring to challenge' (again, the language is not 'because I don't want you' but more of an implied disgust at her having the AUDACITY to reject him) then it's not a stretch to assume that it'd be considered an insult in the TOS Vulcan society to NOT choose Stonn as her champion after a prior agreement. Anyway T'Pring was a woman in an impossible situation within a society which saw her as more of an object than a person and she wanted Stonn and Stonn wanted to be hers and she trusted that he would understand if she had to publicly pick someone else to ensure his life would be spared and he did understand.

Iruma does his best not to let it all bother him, the questions, or the reactions, or the places various classmates and teachers have on his new lists.

He fails.

Someone scrapes together enough nerve to ask Balam-sensei in the middle of Iruma’s class. The teacher freezes.

Someone else takes the moment to cut across that Balam-sensei would eat them and write research on what they tasted like; Balam goes pale.

A third demon says Balam-sensei wouldn’t eat them, since it’d be like eating an endangered species. He’d probably keep them in a jar like a pet. Balam-sensei’s hands begin to shake.

He finally interrupts. And doesn’t look at Iruma. “I’d keep you safe,” he says. “I’d fight my hardest to keep you safe. Of course. You are my students.”

Balam-sensei gets teased by the class and his coworkers for how soft he is for the rest of the week. The next time they have tea, Iruma doesn’t even give a cursory squirm about the hug, and just squeezes back tighter.

Ameri does not participate. She serves anyone who does, in her hearing range, a debilitating axe-kick to the chest.

Iruma freezes, skin gone pale, hands gone shaky. He can feel his internal defensive beast starting to rise, but he squashes it.

Azz starts to scold her for wasting Iruma-sama’s time on foolish games (he was one of those who admired Ameri’s response), but Iruma doesn’t listen to him. Can’t.

Iruma takes Clara’s hands, gentle, still shaking. “Yes,” he says, immediately, fervently, looking her directly in the eye and all but pushing what he can’t say through his gaze and into her mind. “I’d love you, and Azz, no matter what you were, or what I am, or where we are. There isn’t anything that can change that. Ever.”

Minkowski and Hera clash a lot with Lovelace in Do No Harm. Minkowski orders Lovelace out of the lab and makes her point by shattering something against a wall. Hera tells Lovelace to leave them alone and calls her the stupidest person she's ever met.

And that's partly because Lovelace's (very understandable) mistrust of Hilbert has the potential to get in the way of Eiffel's emergency medical care.

And it's partly because the tensions that have been building between them inevitably come to the surface in such an intense situation like this.

I don't want to underplay either of those very significant reasons. But I think another reason why Minkowski and Hera respond the way they do to Lovelace in this episode is because Lovelace's presence hammers home just how real the threat to Eiffel's life is.

Lovelace has lost two crew members - two friends - to Decima. Hilbert could not (or at least did not) save them. And Hera and Minkowski now are now facing the fact that their own crew member and friend is in critical condition from the very same virus, and being treated by the very same doctor.

Lovelace looks at Eiffel coughing up blood and thinks about Lambert and Hui. Hera and Minkowski don't want to think about how Eiffel could meet the same fate.

The loss that Lovelace has experienced - a loss that heavily influences her actions in this episode - is exactly the loss Minkowski and Hera fear themselves. On some level, Lovelace represents a possibility they don't want to confront.

It's one of those things that is emotionally understandable from both sides. Of course Lovelace can't just trust Hilbert to give medical care to a Decima patient, not after everything she's been through. Of course Hera and Minkowski can't just listen to Lovelace not trusting Hilbert, not with Eiffel's life hanging in the balance.

Basically what I'm saying is: when Hera and Minkowski are trying not to fear the worst, how can they bear the presence of someone it's already happened to?

Wigfrid Characterization: Attitude Towards Maxwell

Ok. I've been seeing this trend time and time again for years now and I'm finally bringing it up bc. idk I do what I want.

While it is understandable to assume from an outward perspective that Wigfrid- a morals-obsessed, overly heroic, walking monologue of a norse angel- would hold an intense amount of spite and hatred towards Maxwell after all he's done... canonically, that simply. isn't the case.

And it's strange! It's certainly strange! But it's also fascinating! And I think it harps on a very interesting part of her character that no one thinks as frequently about: so long as Wigfrid considers you a friend, she will hold an astronomical fondness for you. Wigfrid loves her friends, and Maxwell is her friend.

In regards to Maxwell's old statues- by far the easiest way to compare the cast's opinions on him- almost none of the other survivors have anything nice to say about him (Woodie claims he'll use it as fodder to poke fun, Willow just flat out insults him, WX implies his ineptitude, you get the point).

There are only three characters out of the expansive cast of 17 who have anything genuinely good to say about them- even despite the circumstances and the statue's previous associations: - Wickerbottom, who has a pre-established relationship with Maxwell, both being magic wielders who seem interested in each others' crafts - Wolfgang, who- while not as obviously as Wicker- has a fondness and relationship with Maxwell that surpasses that of the other survivors - And guess who else. Wigfrid.

And I see far more interpretations that harp on the first two's bonds with the magician (though admittedly not as much with Wolfgang as he probably deserves) than I've ever seen with Wigfrid! I think because it's so easy to assume that she wouldn't ever give him a second chance. But really when you take a step back and look at what she has to say, she's incredibly generous with him.

Maxwell is the only survivor in the game she will specifically greet with the title of 'ally'. Almost as if she's trying to convince him that she's being genuine. She makes a constant and noticeable effort to remind him that she's a friend to him. An asset. An ally.

When he does something that isn't morally abhorrent, and when she speaks of his goodness, she phrases it in such a specific way. The kindness buried within his heart. As if to imply she believes it's been there from the start- that she or anyone else could simply help dig it out into the open again.

Even when she's playfully ribbing at him (which, lets be honest, everyone should to do because it's fun and he deserves it), she still keeps his health and wellness in mind. Of all people to make stronger- to trust with physical power and fighting prowess- she's willing to bestow it to Maxwell. The same Maxwell who kept her trapped in that place, gloating and sneering and sending hoard after hoard of mind numbingly horrifying beasts to kill her in indescribable ways.

She trusts him. She likes him. She wants to bring out the good in him. She's here for his redemption arc. She's actively making an effort for him. Its unhealthy to pit theater kids against each other for the love of god please they're the only two left in the Constant* let them have this-
