not football fans calling for more research into acl injuries now that four men’s players have them within the first few days of the season. where were all the calls for more research when the women’s players were getting them every other game

ok so the thing is Jason doesn’t speak the most highly of Willis and you sorta get the impression that Jason is used to him being absent
But when he finds out Willis was killed by Two Face he’s sullen all day
And then he loses it on Two Face the first chance he gets

i'm sure it's been said but i do love how trimax handles wolfwoods death. i've seen so many stories that have characters die and they just go away after. i'm really used to stories where the other characters aren't allowed to grieve, the story keeps going and it feels like the other characters aren't really affected or get over it really easily. but in trimax wolfwoods death is so important. we see other characters grieving him. vash protecting the orphanage, expanding his power when he really shouldn't, because it was wolfwood's home, even though wolfwood is already gone. he gets an actual burial. vash and livio eating their way through the grief, which is more comedic but still shows us how important he was to the two of them, sets up how in many ways they're fighting in his memory.
even after he's gone he's still present in the story in such a strong way. we can see how he's affected the other characters, even when they don't explicitly mention him it's obvious that they're thinking about him. what he did when he was alive, and his death itself, are so important to the story even after he's not there. not just in a really abstract "this is someone we lost" way (though there are a lot of times his death and sacrifice motivate vash and livio to fight harder!) he's present in the finale in a material way to livio, who uses his serums to help fight against elendira, which ofc also ties into the way wolfwoods choice to ally with vash and fight against knives gave livio strength to do the same. wolfwood showed him that there are things worth fighting for, things worth protecting. that your body is a weapon, but you can choose what to do with it, use it for something meaningful.
and the way vash kills legato in order to save livio? vash outright says that he did it to protect what wolfwood fought for, sacrificed his life for. it's tied to the ongoing arc between vash and wolfwood, their conflict over the necessity of killing others. wolfwood pushed vash into having an understanding of his views when he was alive, demonstrating the necessity of that violence. simultaneously, vash inspired wolfwood to follow his path, a kinder one. vash remembers what wolfwood said to him, and his death gives those words added poignancy. wolfwood well and truly sacrificed everything to protect what he loved and fight for what he believed in. how can vash let that go to waste? he sacrifices something just as meaningful to himself, and he pulls the trigger. it brings him closer to wolfwood in a way he never was before. he understands now, fundamentally, what motivates people, motivated wolfwood, to act as he did when he took lives. there are so many other ways wolfwood is present in the story after his death i can't talk about all of them but it makes me so crazy

saw a youtube comment talking about how Peter’s powers are more than mere superspeed---how he can essentially manipulate gravity and inertia and that’s why when he throws people out of the mansion they don’t die, and why he can listen to music super fast. Everything within his bubble operates under his power’s rules, basically, and that’s also why he can make it so that he can stand still (not running) while everyone else moves in slow motion. And then someone responded by saying that that would make a ton of sense because of who his father is since gravity manipulation is a lot closer to electromagnetic field manipulation than superspeed is, and I’d never thought of it that way but MY HEART

Anyone else find it weird that Alastor, the Radio Demon, made a television commercial even though it’s been stated that he doesn't like modern technology?
I’ll say this: it would’ve been a nice opportunity to see him do the same commercial (as a radio broadcast) inside his station. Him being an old-timey or into radio seemed to be a part of his character and what contributes to his rivalry with Vox.

Adding my two cents -- I'm really sad that Bea Bennet wasn't allowed to just be a civilian! Characters shouldnt need to be special to be worthy of consideration from heros, especially ones who we're supposed to view as members of their community. Thinking on good Nightwing comics, what really sets him apart is his connections to the community via civilian characters! Recently it feels like if someone in Nightwing doesn't act as a crazy cameo they aren't valued as much as they otherwise would be.... I've said this before but a major downside to a lot of comics is the cast not reappearing after a run regardless of their quality. If we want Nightwing to be different from Batman through his relationship to the community, if we want to actually care about Blüdhaven, why is Blüdhaven not given a firm identity outside of it blowing up?! I wish they would bring back those guidebooks they would do on characters and locations, giving them maps, specific characteristics, backstories, and everything -- even if they arent going to appear in the comics! This would make the world seem a lot more planned out and allow for authors to better piggyback off of one another! I also think it would be nice if when authors write about characters that they actually read prior comics... this seems obvious but some of the errors in characterization and lineups seem more derived from social media discussions than actual reading....

i've been working on the heart attack fic, so have a little something sweet before it all goes sour
Eventually, Eddie and Albert return from their search. Albert sidles up next to Buck and grabs hold of the hose, offering support, while Eddie jerks hard on Buck’s turnout to spin him around. Buck notices he’s not wearing his oxygen mask or air tank and immediately starts fussing.
Eddie accepts Buck’s fretting with a dirty, crooked smile. “Gave my tank to one of the victims,” he says. “I’m going to triage for some oxygen.”
Buck’s chest tightens and he squeezes Eddie’s shoulder. “You okay?” he asks, a half yell. Their radios aren’t needed; they’re close enough to read one another’s lips.
“Yeah,” Eddie answers, frowning. Buck can see his tight lips and pinched forehead, a crinkle in the middle of his brow, and it’s equal parts endearing and worrisome. “Just—can’t take a deep breath. Air’s hot.”
“Are you—”
“Just out of air,” Eddie interrupts, smiling softly. He tugs on Buck’s turnout again, something he must’ve picked up from Chris, and Buck steps impossibly closer, knees knocking into Eddie’s. “I’m okay.”
Buck nods, as placated as he’s going to be. “Be careful.” He squeezes Eddie’s shoulder once again before dropping his hand. “Follow the hose.”
“I will.” Eddie’s smile grows, crooked and bright. He fists Buck’s turnout and pulls him close, butting his forehead against the visor of Buck’s mask like an affectionate dog. “See you out there, cowboy.”
Dazed, a little mesmerized and a lot in love, Buck watches Eddie follow the hose carefully, quickly, until his figure’s concealed by smoke and he alerts over the radio he’s made it outside. He shakes his head, clears the warm fuzzy feeling Eddie always seems to cultivate when he’s sweet, and gets back to work.
Albert nudges his shoulder. “What was that about?”
Buck grins, cheeks hot. “I’ll tell you when you’re older,” he replies, chuckling at Albert and Hen’s twin bark of laughter.
