Please tell us about Megatron's spiralling grief!
(Also I hope he cuddled Shockwave for some comfort. He deserves it.)
The autobots were extremely vicious and thorough when exterminating the cybermorphs. In TFA, at present day, Megatron is the only surviving queen. During the war, he lost every single one of his children. The civimorph, vosimorphs, and minimorph queens all had hives on Cybertron, and were killed brutally. Queen Theta of the civimorphs, her hive was flooded with tox-en, the corrosive gases melting away at their plating and making it impossible for them to breathe. She died with all her children, trying to save her eggs and carry them to escape, and those that did manage to break their way to the surface were easily gunned down due to already being weakened.
Queen Morningstar of the vosimorphs was killed when the autobots bombed Vos: their hive was naturally subterranean, dug into the plateus surrounding the sea of rust, but when her sire's city was under siege she disobeyed her carrier's orders and went to help. When she was spotted amongst the fighting, Ultra Magnus knew they'd never have such an easy chance again, and vaporized the entire city with a nuclear bomb. Less than a hundred Vosians were left in existence, and that was only because they weren't in the city when it happened.
And poor Dazzle of the minimorphs, his hive was dug up by one of the Supremes: he died being stomped into paste by the enormous brute. He died cradling a newly emerged baby drone in his arms, telling them that, "It's gonna be ok, mommy's here-" before they were flattened into oblivion.
As anyone that's lost a child knows... it's the worst kind of pain. That sort that's so intense and visceral it becomes physical, making your whole body ache and throb and making you wish for death. Both to escape your suffering, and so you can see your baby again. The three oldest queens weren't born that way, they were the best of the best, the finest of his children that clawed their way through the royal trials and emerged victorious atop their siblings. He had watched them grow up and achieve greatness and he was so proud of all of them: feeling their sudden deaths in his spark naturally made the almighty queen mother collapse into grief. The first one to go is Morningstar, his oldest, then poor Theta and finally Dazzle. Not to mention countless of his other children that worked to protect their hives and fighting on the battlefield for their freedom, but the extinguishing of each queen marks another grave loss for the morphs. After all, he's not producing any more morphlings right now, and drones can't become queens. If one subset of morphs is driven to extinction, unless he can get his hands on another sire and safely raise a royal embryo to adulthood, they'll be gone forever. Not to mention with each lost queen means less and less warriors to assist in their fight: now that the autobora have extracted the Allspark and are making on-the-ground soldiers, they're threatening to overwhelm them.
Megatron becomes increasingly unstable with each queen's death. Ripping himself from his ovipositor and forcing his way into the fighting, slaughtering autobots left and right, taking unnecessary risks, rage and devestation making him sloppy. He takes uncalculated risks and throws himself into fights without thibking, not noticing or perhaps ignoring any injuries. He cares not for his health or safety, and is running on pure spite alone. He wants nothing but to avenge his sparklings, to make these miserable bastards pay. It throws the vast swaths of drones and warriors into a frenzy, but it's unsustainable and the casualties are many. He can't hold funerals for them, their remains can never be retrieved, and he doesn't know how much they suffered before their untimely deaths. They were so young. Their childhoods were nothing but fighting, their adult lives an endless cycle of reproduction and death. He regrets that they were denied a normal life of love and freedom, and now he can never give it to them.
Even when the morphs are pushed offworld, forced to flee when their final, largest hive is destroyed, the autobots don't stop. They chase the morphs into space, and begin hunting their offworld hives as well. Velocitron and Eurythma, both planets are completely vaporized for the sake of killing off the morph nests there, taking away the (Unnamed) velocimorph queen and Damus, the rhythomorph queen. They hunt each and every hive with extreme prejudice, killing every single one of Megatron's precious children. Nowhere and no one is safe from their genocide.
By the time the decepticons reach their canon point: lost drifting in space, beaten and starving, the queen mother is a shell of himself. Empty, shattered optics and a blank face, unwilling or perhaps unable to lay more eggs. Their people number less than 500 now, scattered to the universe, and the vast majority of those numbers are drones that have survived by pure luck. His audials constantly ring with the screams of everyone who's died, their final words and thoughts to the hivemind before succumbing to death. The grief hangs around his neck like solid chains that make it hard to stand up at all, and... his hopes for the future are very bleak. Part of him craves the release of death, but his sense of duty as the last living cybermorph queen stay his hand from taking a blade to his spark.
In recent developments there's the possibility of little Lovebug the insectimorph queen (name definitely not final! This is just a nickname) hatching on Cybertron after so long, his egg having survived the purges and still hidden deep in Cybertron's depths. His birth may spark new life onto the cybermorph species, but we can talk about that later. It's still a maybe.
As for Shockwave... he and the other sires do try to take care of their queen, but there's really nothing anyone can do or say to make this easier. It's a pain that will never go away, but that doesn’t stop Shockwave from visiting the hive's heart when the queen is asleep, draping himself over his body and trying to help keep the nightmares at bay 💖

I must admit I'm getting this horrible image in my head of Tarn as that type of creepy guy who donates way too much money to a streamer and then absolutely loses it when he hears they're not single.
That's probably accurate lol. Although unlike (seemingly) most people in this fandom, I blame Megatron more for turning Tarn into that kind of obsessed freak than I do Tarn for being a freak. I mean, my view is basically "you reap what you sow/the monster you created turned around and bit you" so I don't really have sympathy for Megatron with regards to Tarn showing up and ruining his life lol. I actually really like the DJD coming in MTMTE as basically the living embodiment of karma and Megatron's comeuppance about not being able to run away from/ignore his past.
Like blah blah "no matter how sad your backstory is you're still responsible for your own actions" but also Megatron is literally 100% the reason Tarn is Like That, and Megatron also used parasocial manipulation, propaganda, and his grandiose personality to manipulate the Decepticons into worshipping/following him without question. So like. It's fiction, I don't have to be all "well they're all problematic" I can just be like "lol, lmao even" and point and laugh as Megatron gets fucked up by Tarn and the DJD because he can't talk his way out of this problem.
#squiggle answers#i'm not mad at you or thinking you're saying anything#i'm just very fond of dying of the light and i enjoy megatron suffering#i love how dying of the light is like megatron's personal torment nexus of getting trapped by his bad decisions#but also getting other people dragged down with him by accident#and then he's so fucking pathetic that he can't even compromise his 'pacifism' to save those people he dragged down#and then he lashes out in anger and becomes violent and hateful again and slaughters the whole DJD#i love that shit. love when megatron is fucked up and dysfunctional#i'm not saying i wanted him to become WORSE and like die a horrible fate per se#i'm just saying that i disagree with most of the fandom when they're like aww let this old man rest and tarn should fuck off he's a loser#i'm like nah. put megatron in the blender. don't let him just suddenly decide to be a pacifist and then that's it. make him fuck up#ough sorry it's just. i like megatron getting better but i also like him staying bad lol#like i want him to get redeemed but i also still want him to be fucked up and full of anger and hatred. if that makes sense#but yeah. not to be a tarn defender or anything but like#sometimes the fandom seems like it listened too much to the part where megatron was like#'i was happy i was at peace and you ruined everything'#meanwhile i'm sitting there like: yeah they ruined it. and so what. it's your fault. you don't get to be peaceful and happy#when you still have mistakes that you need to address and do something about instead of running away#muah. muah. muah. love dying of the light#i wanted to rip megatron apart from being so pathetic but i was also like. awww sad old man#mostly i wanted to rip him apart tho lol

Nononono. I love SG!ConstructProwl. Because consider in IDW Baseline he never accepted them truly and they left him.
In SG they are successful at wooing him.
Oooooh.
Concept.
In SG it is the Constructicons are medics. In BL, they forcibly converted Prowl because of orders and feel in love with his brain. In there's during the SG!ProwlOP divorce, they find him beaten and broken left to die, and having seen what he went through feel sick at the idea of leaving him, and his Spark case is compromised. So they temporarily hook him into their Gestalt system since it is made to accept others, but Prowl latches on to them and is utter enraptured by their loyalty and love. He knows it exists but feeling that kind of loyalty and naivete about being goodness in the world after everything he sees is charming and what's more he wants it. So they've been chosen by a feral sleazy cat/mean girl who is very much now "Optimus who?" and eyeing them up while they squeak and push at him with a broom especially since he refuses to break the bond and gives them sad cat eyes that they know–they can feel his think which is beautifully sharp and horrifically clear and calculating–it is fake but the thought of hurting him and echoed memory of rejections and beatings and not being enough that radiates at the spark of him makes them unable to let go.
Even more Prowl is more than rwady to go full ride or die and has decided to be their murderous "he said no pickles" girlfriend and torment them into not overworking themselves and glare at the Decepticons who ask for assistance or projects and make sure they eat and are fed and have a schedule. The Constructicons overextend themselves to support everyone and have issues saying no.
Prowl does not.
The Decepticons are horrified at the implication of taking advantage and Megatron finds himself agreeing with Prowl about them taking care of themselves while they get upset at first but reluctantly admit he's right.
"Of course I am." Is Prowl’s only response as he shoves cube of Energon flavored to each of their exact tastes and locks down their work stations (Soundwave conveniently distracts Shockwave so he can't help them hack back in) and shuffles them to berth.
Hm, I have thoughts now about Workaholic!SG!Constructicons and their small bossy new self-assigned wife.
Exactlyyyyyyy
In SG, they said "we may or may not be able to fix him but we can try"
Also yes yes on SG medic!constructicons.
Exactly, SG ProwlOp is a toxic relationship I can absolutely see happening as an on/off thing that's been going on since before the war but of course this is the final off switch.
They just have to save him, they've gotta. And they do. Prowl happens to latch on very tightly and does not want to let go lol
It is such the opposite of canon and now he's the one who is sticking close by, because he has felt Positive Emotions that do not come from someone else's Negative Emotions for the first time and he's hooked.
"Would you like me to kill that guy???"
"... No thank you, but it's the thought that counts?"
Yes I'm fiddling around with the constructicon's colors and I am so tempted to keep the purple and not the green
Awww yes and he is making sure they don't implode by being selfish for them (oddly selfless of him, but he'd deny that)
Sdfg yep yep he is their evil bastard they have adopted and he's bullying them into self carem

If it's okay can I request Transformers Prime Megatron with your prompts 2, 11, and 44 with a human reader?
Of course! @okchijt and I came up with the plot for this one so hopefully it came out great after I fleshed things out :) This takes place a little after you're first abducted by Megatron.
Yandere! TFP! Megatron Prompts 2, 11, 44
"It's an honor for someone such as me to take you in and love you!"
"I'd crush their heart in front of you if it meant you'd only love me!"
"Your tongue is so sharp... wouldn't it be a shame if I had to silence it?"
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Cybertronian/Human pairing, Obsession, Torture mentioned, Threats, Kidnapping, Manipulation, Slight OOC Megatron, Forced relationship.
Tumblr media
The fact humans were capable of such resolve both intrigued yet infuriated Megatron. How long had it been for you? Weeks? Months? It didn't really matter to him.
All he knows is for such a small thing you're resilient. Starscream has been sent to your cell on The Nemesis for a long time now. Despite the pain inflicted on your fleshy body, you refuse to talk or give up any info on the Autobots.
Starscream yet again kept disappointing Megatron. To think he's unable to make such a human talk is inconceivable. You're human, you should be cracking by now.
It's almost impressive really, even if it's pointless. Compared to most humans you never know when to quit. It's a trait that shows loyalty... to the wrong cause.
Despite your annoying stubborn behavior, Megatron found himself intrigued by you. Your traits frustrate him yet draw him in. He wants to know what makes you tick.
He oversees your interrogations, watching as you're either shocked or yelled at. Even through extreme psychological stress and threats you refuse to betray Prime. Megatron is almost jealous at such loyalty.
If only some of the Decepticons besides Soundwave and Shockwave show such loyalty.
Such intrigue prompts the Decepticon to remove Starscream from the job of interrogation. No, this was now between you and him. Your resistance is a trait Megatron wants to utilize... perhaps he can make a deal with you.
Megatron notices the confusion in your gaze when he steps in. A grin is on his face as you show slight weakness for just a moment. You quickly swap to a more defiant gaze right as Megatron locks the cell behind him.
"So you're the human that's been giving Starscream hell? I should thank you for that, actually. However, you aren't getting away with that when it comes to me." Megatron begins, observing your reactions carefully through his optics.
"We'll see about that..." You grumble just enough for the Decepticon to hear.
"Yes, we'll see..." Megatron begins. "We'll see what happens to your friends and family when you don't give up the Autobots. Even if you don't give the answer now... we'll find them. I don't mind extinguishing their spark in front of you."
Megatron sees fear flicker in your eyes at the threat but you still don't relent. Starscream, as much as he hates to see it, was right. In a sense....
"Think about this instead, for being a human you could make a great Decepticon."
He sees your face contort into disgust.
"I'm not telling you anything! Just as I have multiple times before! Let me go... kill me... it doesn't matter just as you said. I'll never tell you about the Autobots. They're my family, they care for me and they'll find me!"
Megatron felt his Energon heat at the fact you're defending the Autobots. The Autobots are scum... the fact you still stick by them on his turf sets him off. He was even starting to consider sparing you as a Decepticon if you've survived months of torment!
You needed to crack... now.
"I'd crush their heart in front of you if it meant you'd only love me!" The Decepticon roars, revealing a key factor of his intentions.
After the outburst there's silence. You stare wide-eyed at Megatron as he glares down at you. Megatron does realize what he said and takes a moment to ponder. It's a bit degrading to himself to stoop down to liking a human this much but... you're an exception. Perhaps while watching you and growing annoyed he was just in denial about such a fact.
Either way it appears he can use this as leverage.
You still appear to be processing the accidental confession. It's a surprise to him too. The silence is deafening as you try to process the disturbing confession given by your captor.
"Love me...?" You say in nearly a whisper. "How could a monster such as you love me? Didn't you say you hated humans?"
Megatron tries to search for an answer, momentarily distracted by his own confession and your questions. You're pushing him in a corner. It's surprising how fast you swap the power in your favor even if it's for a moment.
You really are something special.
"Go on, answer!" You growl. "If you said you hate my kind, what makes you think a confession such as that will make me love you?"
Megatron is silent, watching you bark at him like an angry dog. You are quite brave yet stupid to fight someone like him. It's what he likes about you... yet it stings slightly.
His silence prompts you to continue.
"The likelihood of me loving you, if that is truly what you want, is about as likely as you beating the Autobots!"
Megatron takes note of the grin on your face. You're enjoying the power trip. You haven't been on control of your situation for a long time now. You're reveling in the momentary power.
He'll put an end to that, you've asked enough questions already.
"It's an honor for someone such as me to take you in and love you!" Megatron counters. "Mocking me is a poor decision. You are not the one in power here."
He hates that you somehow have such an effect on him. He could squish you with his claws but he doesn't. No... he "cares" too much, huh?
You take notice due to being such a perceptive human.
"You have one last chance to cooperate. Things will only get worse from here if you continue." Megatron warns. He's already being too merciful with you as his. You only smile sweetly.
"You couldn't hurt me... you LOVE me, don't you-"
*SLAM*
The noise of Megatron's fist puncturing the wall rings in your ears. You have a look of fearful surprise on your face when you catch a look of Megatron's blazing red optics on you. Only now to you shut up, realizing playing with your captor really won't at all be like Starscream.
Megatron's deathly silent as he lowers himself to snatch you up in his hand. You now begin to shake, losing the confidence you once had. So much for the tough act....
It seems only now you understand the power imbalance between you two.
"Your tongue is so sharp... wouldn't it be a shame if I had to silence it?" Megatron mocks, grinning when he sees you tremble in his hand. "You need to learn your place. You're still a human after all."
For once, you're shocked into silence. You can tell by the gaze in Megatron's eyes that you've sealed your fate. He isn't going to kill you, at least you think....
He's going to put you through hell and back for trying to mess around with him. You wish you held your tongue. What were you thinking, mocking Megatron as a human?
You can only guess it'll be much worse than when you misbehaved around Starscream.
Even if he did say he "loved" you.

Hi!! I just wanted to say that I love the way you write Optimus in your AU’s❤️❤️❤️ And I specially love the concept of your \\Decepticon Optimus AU\\ PLEASE PART 2 PLEASE PART 2 PLEASE PART 2 PLEASE PART 2
I’ll start drawing fanarts :D
Congratulations. You have bought my services with the offer of fanart. Here you go mate, more Decepticon Optimus (~ ̄▽ ̄)~ I've actually been wanting to write this for a REALLY long time, but I just never thought anyone was interested. That said, take a bit of a Starscream POV in preparation for a proper continuation of this thing.
Previous part here.
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙
Starscream served Megatron because it was what was best for his people. There was indeed a lot of personal investment in the choice as well. After all, with how high he was in the ranks, if Megatron fell, he would have a solid chance to take control of the army so long as Tarn or Overlord didn't fight him too much for it. It was simply the best decision when the alternative was following the Autobots and having to deal with their roots in the Senate. While it was a difficult decision to join up with a rebel force, after Vos burned, it was only right.
War was a torment, one that Starscream only endured because he had his trinemates and fellow citizens of Vos by his side. Despite the comfort Skywarp and Thundercracker offered, there was always something missing for Starscream as the war dragged on. All his fellows were focused on the goal to the point of everything else being drowned out. They stopped seeing the point of it all for the most part and largely fell into the haze of conflict with no regard for the place where it all began. The common soldiers just wanted to survive, the officers wanted to rise through the ranks, and the rest were loyal to Megatron more so than what they fought for.
Admittedly Starscream fell amongst them when things got stressful and his place became threatened. However aside from those moments, he was contemplative, often trying to remember WHY they fought rather than focusing himself too much on the conflict itself. That was not to say he held no grudges, no he held them close to himself with a degree of glee. But he desired companionship from someone more... neutral in a sense. He wanted someone to understand where he was coming from and preferably be in a position that Starscream would still have influence over. He couldn't have his greatest fears and insecurities being held but just anyone after all.
Then as if answered by Primus himself, Starscream stumbled upon a fascinating mech who was quick to catch his attention. Right off the bat he looked the part of a Decepticon. Black plating with red tinted windows and optics, a huge axe and blaster as his weapons of choice, and a reputation for valuing logic over emotion. Even his designation matched the embodiment of Decepticon values. Nemesis was quite the name for a mech who hardly managed to rise above the rank of a private. However those traits were not what caught Starscream's attention. Rather it was the fact that Nemesis's behavior was so out of the ordinary and yet perfectly in line with Decepticon standards as to be concerning in a sense.
There were pages upon pages of reports detailing Nemesis's presence being crucial for morale. Never did the mech win any ground for the Decepticons, but he also never lost any. He was supposed to be a mid-ranked ground officer just there to keep the troops in line. And yet he was beloved by countless soldiers, as shown in their written reports. How did such a cold mech with such an intimidating frame and name get so popular amongst the troops? Mecha on opposite ends of the planet knew his designation, at least amongst Vehicons. It was strange, so strange in fact that Starscream found himself paying the mech a visit during a routine check of the area.
Visiting out of pure curiosity yielded increadible results as Starscream observed Nemesis in action. The mech forever wore his mask and seemed almost unsure how to reply when presented with a situation that required emotions. However he somehow managed to be a comfort to those he served with while battling with ferocity that Starscream found vaguely familiar but more so striking. Nemesis was fascinating, and more than that, he was kind. It was silly and a spur of the moment decision, but he stole Nemesis away from his division and had the mech placed under his direct supervision.
Nemesis for his part took the change with grace, but Starscream quickly noticed more and more oddities surrounding him as time passed by. Often the emotionally unstable mecha Nemesis took to comforting simply vanished a short while after his conversations with them. On records they were labeled as deserters, but Starscream saw that they were being aided by the far too kind Decepticon he'd taken under his wing. Nemesis was quiet, he didn't cause any trouble and largely kept to himself. And yet so many odd things happened around him that Starscream couldn't help but keep him around and not report him. Why would he turn in this great source of potential entertainment and comradery? Was it a risk? Yes. But he had his trine and he was sure he could blast one mech into oblivion if need be. Besides, the mecha who vanished were never of importance. If Nemesis had a thing for killing a few foot soldiers every now and then, he certainly wouldn't be the first of his kind.
One by one more oddities became clear and Starscream had a grand time watching them unfold. It was like his personal reality holodrama as he observed Nemesis wandering around befriending every last Vehicon and seemingly unknowingly earning their collective loyalty. He didn't seem to be aware of the fact that half of the Decepticon army regarded him fondly due to his association with the Vehicons, but if he did, he certainly never abused it. He learned the names of every Vehicon, treated them kindly, and in his gruff way even helped them get out of trouble. It was... a welcome relief from the cruelty Starscream saw regularly. The desire that led him to search out someone more neutral for companionship only grew as he continued to keep an optic on his little pet project.
Such an interesting mech he was. Eventually Starscream couldn't help but ask.
Starscream: Why do you bother with the Vehicons? They are clones, expendable soldiers.
Nemesis: No one is expendable. Every life is sacred. Is that not why we fight for freedom? So that all might enjoy their right to life?
Starscream: But why do you not try and rise through the ranks? You have the combat and strategic skills to do so, and yet you have never once tried to rise above the rank your service under me gave you.
Nemesis: I have personal reasons for wishing to not garner the attention of Megatron and his inner circle. But aside from that, I simply do not care.
Starscream: And why is that? You fight for us, you have bled for us. How can you say it does not matter?
Nemesis: My history is long and complicated my Lord. I have seen horrors and I have no desire to be the one giving the order to inflict more upon others. I am here to protect those I care about. That is all.
Starscream: And here I thought you were known for being cold and calculating.
Nemesis: There is a time and a place for all things.
After their conversation, Starscream only became more fascinated by the mech who embodied the Decepticons in frame and reputation and yet seemed more and more like an Autobot the more time passed. Nemesis was, in his own strange way, a bit like a stray cyber-feline. Starscream had to earn his trust, and he did so by simply not ratting Nemesis out when he finally caught the mech smuggling younglings across enemy lines. Whether Nemesis knew he was there or not was up for debate, but watching the cold and gruff mech run younglings into neutral territory and pass them off to mecha preparing to go off world had Starscream confirming that Nemesis was a good individual at spark.
For vorns Nemesis served under him, trying and largely failing to be stealthy when smuggling younglings out and creating distractions for Vehicons to escape punishment. Such a kind spark hidden behind layers of a grim persona. Starscream couldn't help but assist every now and then. He made sure not to make his intervention obvious, but Nemesis started to treat him with greater familiarity the longer they worked together.
By the time Thundercracker and Skywarp fell in battle, what began as a simple attempt to be amused and to search for someone to remind him of the purpose of their war turned into a proper friendship. Nemesis covered for him and did a great deal of planning and order issuing on his behalf while he grieved. And when he was too out of sorts to do anything more than lay on his berth uselessly, Nemesis came by with an energon cube and took care of everything. The kind Decepticon warrior was there for him throughout all of it, even dealing with his rages and outbursts. Starscream would never say so aloud, but he appreciated the patience shown to him more than anything else. Nemesis never yelled at him, never so much as grabbed him harshly, and even when Starscream was breaking things in his grief and rage, Nemesis was there to calm him down with soothing words.
It was never meant to end with Nemesis becoming his dear friend, but by the time Starscream was at last able to handle the loss of his trinemates, there was no going back. Nemesis was his friend, his companion, and his stable foundation amidst the storm of war. It was almost impossible to tell how Nemesis really felt about him, but considering the mech never tried to climb the ranks or leave, Starscream assumed the feeling was at least somewhat mutual. It certainly helped that Nemesis's distractions kept Megatron's wrath from falling on Starscream's helm.
Once Starscream could confidently call Nemesis a brother, he did not care for the increasingly suspicious behavior the warrior engaged in. He trusted that if it were important, Nemesis would talk to him about it. Thus whenever his friend vanished for extended periods of time, Starscream allowed it to be. He was horribly anxious whenever Nemesis up and dropped off the map for stellar cycles at a time, but much like a stray cyber-feline, he always came back and always with something or other as a gift. Part of Starscream feared that Nemesis was a traitor who merely wanted his trust for information gathering purposes, but without his trine, he refused to think about it. Until Nemesis proved himself a traitor, Starscream would continue to treat him as a brother.
He covered for Nemesis's vanishing act, he helped the Vehicons in his absence, and whenever his brother returned, Starscream relished in the attention offered. Nemesis was never a very touchy mech, but soft shoulder touches, tender aid in wing cleaning, and gentle words were more than enough for Starscream. He cherished it all and fought to keep Nemesis with him viciously when it came time for the Exodus to begin.
But that of course was when everything fell apart.
Starscream had a plan. He already filed the paperwork, prepared appropriate documents, and convinced Megatron to allow him to keep Nemesis with him as they took to the stars. He was ready and fully willing to jump through whatever hoops were needed to ensure that Nemesis remained by his side. Then, just like that, Nemesis was gone. One sentimental conversation under the stars later, Nemesis dropped off the map leaving only a collection of files and a note at his desk. The world itself seemed to shatter around Starscream as he read the note and flew faster than he ever had before. He couldn't lose Nemesis, not after he lost everyone else.
Starscream wished it was just a horrible nightmare when he finally found what remained of his brother in arms. He screamed and begged as he tried in vain to fix the damage done to the lifeless frame before him. However when all was said and done, he could only hold Nemesis's body in his arms and weep. The note said that Nemesis was simply tired and that it was no one's fault. Starscream believed him, Nemesis was not one to outright lie. And yet he couldn't help but lament the fact that his brother never told him of his woes. Starscream would have helped, he would have made things better if Nemesis had only asked it of him.
He would have made things right.
He buried Nemesis's body under the open sky and stayed for a whole cycle just so that he could pretend that he and his brother were merely admiring the stars above in silence. When he returned to the Decepticons, his spark ached with loss, but was also hardened in certainty. The war had taken everything from him. His people, his trine, and now the kindest Decepticon he'd ever known. He wasn't exactly sure why his anger over the event came to be pinned on Megatron, but it was. Nemesis, his trine, and so many of his kind were dead because of a foolish war Megatron had yet to win. The competitive desire to take control for personal gain warped into a desperate need to have absolute authority. He needed to make things right, to ensure that the foolishness came to an end.
It hurt still, so his arrogance increased to cover for it. His spark wept, so he pulled away from others. The only one he ever really tolerated was Knockout, and that was merely because he was a neutral deep down. There was no loyalty in his spark, and Starscream appreciated that amidst the sea of diehard Megatron followers. He needed control and he needed it desperately. But of course that need led to punishment, and Starscream could only flounder to stay alive without anyone there to back him up.
Then things changed again.
Vorns spent grieving those he lost came back to haunt him one the battlefield when Optimus Prime of all mecha stood in front of him and stopped a hit from Megatron from reaching him. The Prime looked livid. Why though? Why did the other big player in the ridiculous war they were embroiled in care for one lone seeker, one who had the energon of thousands on his servos? It did not make sense, but pieces began to fall into place as time wore on and Optimus kept defending him. Aggression and anger never before seen in the Prime always showcased itself whenever Megatron tried to touch Starscream or the Vehicons. Optimus would even wield an AXE when he fell into the strange cold rages that always ended with the Prime changing his fighting style completely.
Starscream did not wish to believe it. He couldn't believe it. And yet as he observed more and more, he couldn't help but see the similarities. A bulky frame that had the indicators of magnetic attachments to allow for more armor to be installed. A thick battlemask and heavy set pedes that offered protection from any and all hazards. Large black servos covered in scars carrying a familiar red axe that Starscream knew like his very own wings. It shouldn't have been possible, and yet every time the Prime stopped a hit from landing on him, Starscream couldn't help but see it.
Optimus Prime and Nemesis were related. Somehow they were tied together, and with every uttered word the Prime threw out on the battlefield when rushing to his defense, Starscream only became more certain. How? He did not know. But through whatever means, Optimus Prime had either acquired the attention of his brother while he still lived, or more likely WAS Nemesis in some form. It seemed so obvious looking back, but as Starscream fled the battlefield, he made a decision. In the quiet of his quarters, he opened a commlink to the one mech he thought he would have preferred to see eliminated in fire and smoke.
Starscream: I don't know how you did it or if it is even you... but if you knew Nemesis, or if he is in there somewhere... please let me hear him again.
Optimus: ...
Starscream: I stopped caring about this fragging war long ago. Just let me hear my brother's voice again. Let me know he's still there, if only as a memory.
Optimus: ...
Starscream: Please, just this once, let me hear him.
Optimus: ...
Optimus: I am here, and I am sorry I had to leave you for so long.

I really need to know what Rodimus was thinking throughout this whole scene, because even though it’s written from his perspective, we don’t get a lot of his thoughts, and I’d love to understand his thought process/why he was saying what he was saying. Because Rodimus gets kinda ugly in this scene? (Idk if that makes sense) But yeah! I love this scene so much, it’s very heartbreaking. I hope you’re doing well! And happy almost new year’s!!
“I'm not doing this again, Soundwave. I'm not. I can't.” Rodimus wanted to grab that visor, yank Soundwave down so they could talk face to face. He settled for jabbing a finger up at it. “We're doubling down on the trust. We're not leaving the arena 'til we figure this out. If you think I won't camp here until you speak up, you're wrong.”
“How long?”
“As long as it takes.”
Soundwave smacked a tentacle against the floor. “Mirage's spark pulse: constant torment. Interfered with everything. All thoughts, all actions. How long has he been watching me?”
“Do you remember the ship-wide meeting where I announced I was giving you more freedom?” Rodimus patted his hand against his chest. “I asked you if you could hear my spark pulse.”
Soundwave displayed a video of Rodimus looking up at him. An empty bottle sailed through the air behind him.
“You said you couldn't hear it. That was the price for your freedom, Soundwave. We'd let you roam around, but we had to keep an eye on you.” Rodimus took a step toward him. “After what you did? No one wanted to give you free rein. Even after you saved the ship from the supernova! But I knew you deserved it.”
A complex waveform manifested on the visor.
“Put yourself in my place, Soundwave. I bet you would have done the same thing. Or worse.”
Angry static.
“Okay, how about this: we gave you a second chance after you tried to kill everyone. You wanna give me a second chance?”
Soundwave played snippets of different voices from the crew. “What good is a second chance if the foundation broke apart?” He snapped his uninjured prongs. “Of course I fucking trust you!”
“Know what? You're right.” Rodimus stepped to the side and yelled, “Mirage!”
They stared at each other in cool silence as Mirage returned. Behind him, Ultra Magnus was escorting a concerned Megatron over to Perceptor.
Mirage held his palms up. “Captain, I must-”
“I'm absolving you of your tracking duties,” said Rodimus. He looked Soundwave right in the visor, willing every ounce of his sincerity into the stare. “You are no longer required to follow Soundwave. In fact, you may not follow him. Because we all trust him now.”
“Er, very well, captain,” said Mirage. “But of much more pressing concern is the-”
“Dismissed,” said Rodimus.
Mirage's biolights blinked. “No, captain. Respectfully, I shall not go until we speak on the matter of traversing dimensions.”
“So help me, Mirage, you had one job and couldn't do it. I'll talk to you when I'm done with Soundwave. Clear?” said Rodimus.
“But you swore on-”
Soundwave snapped his prongs at Mirage. He played Whirl's voice. “You made me feel insane.”
Mirage backed away, arm inching over his chest. “I don't know what you're talking about.”
“Dismissed,” said Rodimus. When Mirage was gone again, Rodimus continued. “What else? Get it out, Soundwave.”
“Danger: not desired.”
“Then don't do the danger.”
Soundwave's field flashed with irritation. “Stability point: required.” The tentacles roiled back on themselves.
This was a motion Rodimus hadn't seen before. He wasn't getting any helpful feedback from Soundwave's words or blank visor, but the tentacles... Rodimus always watched the tentacles. “What kind of stability point? What do you mean?”
“If you think I am a monster, than I am a monster.”
“Like hell you are. One, I never said that. Two, that logic is for people who don't have options and choices. You have options. You have choices.”
More angry static. A tentacle swung around. Tendrils danced in front of Rodimus's chest. For a second, Rodimus was back on the hull. Tendrils crept under blue polycloth. Dozens of cool touches, snaking and coiling around his Autobot badge. Around his spark.
Rodimus had not been afraid then and he wasn't afraid now.
“You're stuck with us, Soundwave. You're stuck with me. No getting around it. You know you have a place here. You have friends. You have your crystals.” Rodimus reached for the tentacle. It pulled away. “You want to do this the hard way? Fine. I do trust you, Soundwave. With my life. But not with my ship. You're literally made of data tendrils and you lied about using them. Can you blame me?”
The visor displayed quick cuts, various rooms around the Lost Light.
“Yeah, that. I called Mirage off. It's your turn to stop doing the bad thing. That's what the options and choice stuff is all about.”
Soundwave said nothing.
“If you're going to dig into the ship, I don't think we can stop you. I can order you to stop, but maybe you'll just do it anyway. Then what should I do?”
Soundwave said nothing.
“Permanent tier one chore cycle? Is that what you want?”
Soundwave played a video of Swerve screaming.
“Yeah, I'll bet.” Rodimus sighed. “It felt weird, Soundwave. Sitting next to you at game night, never knowing what you might truly be thinking or planning.” A tentacle darted toward him. It pulled back at the last second. “Punishing you forever isn't going to make you a happier mech. So, what are we going to do? Mirage isn't going to follow you anymore. Are you gonna stop digging into the ship?”
Soundwave's visor displayed their hab suite hallway. “There is a camera outside my door.”
“It's outside both our doors. I don't like it, either, but it's not going anywhere.”
Soundwave said nothing.
“Ugh. You're such a pain in the a-” Rodimus cut himself off. “I mean, let's try another approach. You literally built a steerable portal! We can go back to 0001 and get direly needed supplies. This is your great work, right? We should be celebrating, not having difficult conversations! I hate difficult conversations!”
“This is not my great work,” snapped Soundwave.
“It's not? Well, damn, I'm looking forward to it, then.”
Soundwave's tentacles continued their slow undulations. The visor looped waveforms.
This isn't getting anywhere. Argh. “You need a time out. Think about what I said, Soundwave. We should put this behind us and start fresh. I stop. You stop. We're even.”
Okay I'm working on the next ch today and was hoping to get it done by 2024 so I won't be super thorough in this answer. Here's a bullet point list of what's going on:
-Rodimus has just been put face to face with a Decision he made (have Mirage trail SW. he indirectly lied to SW about Mirage having an outlier power, SW just figured out Mirage has been trailing him and is angry). Rodimus does not like being wrong. He doesn't like facing the consequences of his actions, but he will face them. Head on
-one thing for people to remember is that TEG Rodimus is more mature and slightly 'softer' than MTMTE Rodimus. MTMTE Rodimus was a dick. You're such a pain in the a- is mild compared to things he's said and ordered others to do in canon. Like seriously there are a couple lines he has that make you (or at least me) really not like the guy. In fact, he was never one of my favorite characters. SO while he's been pretty understanding and patient for most of the fic, here we see him pushed to a situation stressful enough to bring back that more inherent attitude, one that takes work to soften. Kindness takes a lot of energy.
-“I'm not doing this again, Soundwave. I'm not. I can't.” this refers to the recent distance SW had from Rodimus. After the Irradion, SW avoided him, and Rodimus doesn't want to risk that happening again. It was deeply hurtful.
-Rodimus's thought process here is basically "SW thinks in a literal and direct fashion, but his default expression is to be quiet, so I am going to literally and directly ask him about this so we can figure it out." He asks direct questions because he knows SW's default is to be silent. Rodimus wants to get this conversation over with asap, but it won't go anywhere if SW is quiet. Hence "We're doubling down on the trust. We're not leaving the arena 'til we figure this out. If you think I won't camp here until you speak up, you're wrong.”
-Rodimus receives abstract answers to his questions. He keeps asking SW for clarification and repeating himself because he wants to get to the bottom of this. He wants to clear the air between them. This pattern is repeated several times. I'll simplify the conversation so you can see what I mean:
“What else? Get it out, Soundwave.” [Rodimus is asking directly for info]
“Danger: not desired.” [SW gives him an answer that doesn't make sense]
“Then don't do the danger.” [Rodimus gives what he feels is a good solution to this thing that doesn't make sense]
“Stability point: required.” [SW gives him another abstract answer]
“What kind of stability point? What do you mean?” [R asks for clarification. He wants to help SW]
“If you think I am a monster, than I am a monster.” [SW gives another abstract answer. This response does not answer R's questions on stability points and from R's point of view makes no sense]
“Like hell you are. One, I never said that. Two, that logic is for people who don't have options and choices. You have options. You have choices.” [R reiterates that SW has choices and options. He doesn't think SW is a monster. He wants SW to know that and to move on from the abstract answers]
From here, SW says nothing, so R gets very, very truthful. He spells things out exactly as they are.
“You're stuck with us, Soundwave. You're stuck with me. No getting around it. You know you have a place here. You have friends. You have your crystals.” This is meant to be self-evident. R is reiterating that SW has a place on the LL. Rodimus reached for the tentacle. It pulled away. “You want to do this the hard way? Fine. I do trust you, Soundwave. With my life. But not with my ship. You're literally made of data tendrils and you lied about using them. Can you blame me?” This is R telling SW the naked truth about what's going on.
The rest of the convo goes similarly, with Rodimus trying to get to the root of the issue and Soundwave being quiet or evasive. At one point Rodimus even tries to spin the convo to a positive note, highlighting SW's amazing recent achievement. You literally built a steerable portal! We can go back to 0001 and get direly needed supplies. This is your great work, right? We should be celebrating, not having difficult conversations! SW rebukes it. This goes on until Rodimus realizes the conversation isn't accomplishing anything, and he ends it.
We don't see Rodimus's thoughts directly because there's a LOT going on in this scene. In a dialog-heavy scene, written out thoughts can be intrusive and distracting for the reader. Rodimus's frustration and repeated attempts to communicate are conveyed through his words and actions instead. What he's saying is what he's thinking, here.

I love your blog sm❤️ I love your Halo hcs they are the best and You’re like one of the only blogs that has written for the bayverse Megatron and for that, I think you amazing🥹 Whenever you feel like it, do you think you could write more bayverse megatron x reader? Absolutely no pressure and take all the time you need❤️
YOU
Take my heart. Bayverse Megatron is one of my favorite versions, so it’s nice to see someone request more HCs for him! (Well, I guess I’m writing again lmfao) I will admit, my views on him have kind of changed, so these might be different from the first set of headcanons I wrote.
Trigger warning for abuse.
During the war, Megatron could only see the blinding promise of power. He craved it like it was the energon that flowed through his inner pipe-lines, but… admittedly, despite his never-ending rampage for his next fix for absolute control, he does have an inner weakness that he’d rather die than reveal to those that serve him: his S/O.
His S/O would struggle with this version of Megatron. He was undoubtedly ruthless, far more than any other version of Megatron, and this extends partially to them. He can be abusive, both physically and verbally, and depending on how his emotions festered within him that day dictates how bad it can get. It’s agonizing, oh painfully so. I would never blame S/O if they one day decide to abandon the cause, for any sliver of the Megatron they once knew was seemingly gone.
Oh but that wasn’t the case. Despite all the things he does, his spark mourns for the times before the war, before the Fallen had entered his processor and twisted his mind into shattered pieces. There will be times that his spark breaks through, temporarily silencing the raging thoughts that echoed inside his helm, and this is where he shows weakness. He knows all of the things he’s done and how he’s hurt his S/O, and so, his care is so tender, so genuine. His digits would grace over his S/O’s platings with the utmost care, even as they trembled violently - the emotions boiled within Megatron, oh Primus, what has he done to them?
During these soft moments, he orders the other Cons that he and his S/O are not to be disturbed, any sign of disobedience will be immediately punished with a torturous death.
His S/O would be pampered beyond belief while his spark shines through. He shows his love through acts of service, whatever they need him to do, Megatron would do it without any question or hesitation. The only thing he has slight reluctance to is cuddling. His body was mangled and mutilated into a twisted version of his previous self, sharpened blades and riddled with cracks of silver. It’ll take coaxing, but he’ll cave, and he’d melt if his S/O would give him words of affirmation - he needs it, he desperately does.
Whenever he falls back into his tyrannical mindset, it’s painfully hard to suddenly switch back to how it was before his spark broke control. He acts the same as how he was before, but it’s as though part of him has softened. Megatron’s processor despises this feeling and will take it to his late grave, but he feels strangely at peace, a sense of tranquility he never knew could feel so alluring amongst the calamity of war. It makes him feel weak, and he loathes it, wishing to rip apart his frame just to claw out this specific feeling. But he can’t, and now whenever he tries to be the ruthless tyrant towards his S/O, his inner workings shatter. He can’t reveal this weakness, no, he can’t, if he could barely handle himself causing pain to them, then how would he even handle the other Decepticons tormenting, torturing, or even killing his S/O?
No, he won’t let it happen. He would try his hardest to show how much he ‘hates’ his S/O, and that they were a fool to ever believe that things could go back the way it came. But he can feel the anguish brewing. How he so desperately wished things could go back to the way they were.

Somewhat adjacent idea to the megs asks- he kidnaps someone who’s not associated with the autobots, and treats them so well they’re kinda not inclined to go back to their old life- even if they are being held hostage, they have their own house (albeit in their owners personal quarters), and their every need taken care of before they even ask, not having to work or really do anything other than finally persue their hobbies with their quite ample allowance
(though you don’t know he’s sending clips of you leaning into his touch to his rival to torment him, knowing they can’t track the location of the warship)
(from Aston-one-77, while I’m bored at work lol)
Eeee I’m happy to hear from you!!!
But YESSSS I love this! Megatron gaining the human’s trust and making them nice and comfy. He’s happy to do it as long as he knows it means Optimus knows, and can’t do a single thing about it >:)

Ratchet whats the worst thing about being with a Prime?

To clarify before I begin, there is nothing that I can say is awful about being with Optimus. He has his issues and shortcomings, but they are things we can work through, small issues that ultimately mean nothing in the wake of eternity. I could never hold any true anger toward Optimus for long. I love him too much for that. However with that said, there are many things that I despise about his station and what it does to him, mainly those things which he cannot control.
Now, to answer your question, the worst part about being with a Prime is simply that he's... set apart. That alone is not the issue. Optimus's oddities are things I have long accepted and done my best to understand. No, when I say I find that to be the worst part, what I mean is that I hate when that separation is exemplified by the fragging relic Optimus carries within him.
I hate the Matrix almost as much as I hate Megatron. That relic has done nothing but make Optimus's life even more of a torment. It gives him wisdom and strength, but at what cost? His mind is wrapped up in it, unable to separate from the Matrix due to the grip it has on his spark. I've been Optimus's doctor for as long as he has been alive. I know what the Matrix looks like, and I can safely say it is terrifying. Its clawed hinges wrap around Optimus's spark like a threat of impending doom and its wires dig into the walls of his spark chamber in what I think any other would find to be an agonizing manner. It is not exactly common knowledge, but Optimus's spark is not even fully in his spark chamber. The Matrix keeps it hovering within the space, but the connectors and converters that would otherwise surround his spark are unable to reach it. The fact that he is even alive is a miracle. If it were any other mech, they would be all but dead, barely alive enough to function but without the strength to move.
It feels like a cruel joke just as much as it is a stark reminder of what Optimus is. I can forget occasionally, but he is not Cybertronian, not like me or anyone else at any rate. Did you know that his frame is hardly holding together? I don't think Optimus can sense anything, but all his scans show that every single one of his systems is always on the brink of exploding. His spark is simply too powerful to be confined in a regular frame, and even with one modeled by the Matrix, he can hardly be contained. I think it is because of this that his spark is not allowed to fully rest in its chamber. The Matrix is trying to keep him contained enough to use a mortal frame, and in doing so it also wraps itself around his mind, ensuring that he cannot go too far. The reason I mention this at all is because I hypothesize that it is the separation of spark and frame that creates a lot of my issues with Optimus's nature.
He does not feel. I do not mean to say he cannot experience emotion. No, that is a direct contradiction of every action he has ever taken. When I say he does not feel, what I mean to say is that he does not fully understand emotion and its uses. He experiences them, but the Matrix keeps him from comprehending and fully feeling the effects of his emotions. At the same time, certain emotional responses are also amplified by the relic in a strange and cruel form of control. During the war I largely assumed that his dogged pursuit of victory was simply because there was no other option. But now that our war is over and he still drags himself along with that same depressing determination, I see that it is not natural. He is not thinking when he acts half the time, not truly.
To help explain what I am trying to convey, I will give an example. Optimus will spend cycles at his desk working through a never ending mountain of work, unable to feel his frame and its exhaustion or the weariness that others would normally deal with. His spark being separated from his frame has the practical effect of making lethargy and other such things bother him less. That goes for pain as well, as seen with his unnatural endurance of Orion's EM attacks. Where others would be bored, angry, or otherwise upset with the amount of work to do, Optimus does not seem to care. He views the work with apathetic optics and continues on, often not paying much attention of his own needs or those of the mecha around him. He sets his mind to a task and throws himself into it until he literally cannot endure any longer. I despise it because I can see how weary his spark is below the Matrix's touch. He desperately needs rest and time to work through all he has suffered in his life, but I have only seen him really escape the suppressing and thought controlling methods of the Matrix a grand total of perhaps five times.
The Matrix adjusts his emotions and it seems to even speak to him. It directs him where it wants him to be. It tries to crush emotions it does not see fit for him to feel, and it also appears to have a memory suppressing effect. I cannot confirm that last claim, but considering he had no visible knowledge of Orion and Megatron's relationship during the war, I assume that information was kept from him despite the fact he had many other of Orion's memories. I hate it with a passion. I despise the Matrix for eliminating so much of Optimus's ability to think beyond the bounds it sets. I wish nothing but destruction upon the relic that ensures Optimus can never really see what is going on around him of understand where he is.
Do you have any idea how horrible it is to watch Optimus become so lost and confused when greeted with a negative response toward what I can only assume are instinctual decisions for him? The way he speaks, the way he acts, the tasks he gives priority. All of it. He does not know what he is doing half the time and I can SEE it. He has been given a mold to fit and he can't seem to break from it except when he is dragged kicking and screaming away. I have never seen Optimus act more like himself than when he was given the chance to observe the stars for the first time without pain. He looked so youthful and his optics were the brightest clearest blue I have ever seen. Then just as quick as it came, his optics returned to that sickening white and his focus was diverted back toward his work.
The hardest and most horrible part about being with a Prime is that my Prime is little more than a puppet in the most insufferable way. There is no mastermind to eliminate, no foe to kill to rescue him from his prison of mind and body. No, the thing that keeps him bound in chains is also the device that ensures he continues to function. Without the Matrix, Optimus will die. And yet with it, he cannot ever be free of its grasp. Its will is his when the Matrix decides to make itself known. In that regard, as much as I despise Orion, I cannot help but be somewhat thankful for his and Optimus's connection. Orion seems to awaken something in Optimus that not even the Matrix can fully quash. An innocent and wistful wish for... something that I do not understand but can see all the same.
I know that somewhere behind the veneer of the Matrix is a mech so loving and passionate, thoughtful and wise. But until the cycle arrives that Optimus can pull his mind away from the Matrix's web, I can only cling to the small moments where I see that mech. I can only relish in the instances where Optimus looks at me with clear blue optics, untainted by the chill white of something so other it is all but unfeeling.
I hope that answers your question anonymous. I am sorry for my wandering thoughts.

I might do fic of this but like I’m becoming obsessed with MegaStar in tfp and tfa cuase I love both of those shows (I haven’t finished tfa) but like I love their versions of Megatron and starscream but from what I’ve seen Megatron doesn’t beat Starscream or his fellows soldiers because he needs them and if he where beat them he wouldn’t really get away with it cause he is strong but if he where to get all of his faction against him, he wouldn’t really win against a battle with all of them. They also respect him and they also fear him to a level because they know he could kill them but it’s better if they try to keep each other alive for the sake of the cause, I haven’t really gotten that far in tfa so I don’t know if he does at one point start to beat tf outta them but this is from what I’ve seen.
They seem to have a I hate you, you hate me but let’s try to make this work type of relationship.
Then there’s tfp Megatron like how do you begin with him. He is a straight up abuser like te things he has done to Starscream are horrendous and as far as I know we don’t exactly know what he did to starscream to in order to break his spirit and cause him to start trying to kill him. But during season three it’s clear Starscream now has a full on sense of respect and fear towards Megatron and maybe a bit of “love” in a way, he no longer wants to kill Megatron he “willingly” went back to him because he had no other choice. He saw the decepticons and Megatron as his last resort to live, he was him as his safe space. He would listen to Megatrons orders and tried to be as helpful as he could but Megatron did not care, he still beat him, ridiculed him, tormented him and abused him. Showing that no matter what Megatron was not going to change even if Starscream did and that proves that he never cared if starscream changed he just wanted a more compliant punching bag and that’s what abusers want, they don’t care if you change or what you do to try and please them all they care is if you comply to their demands and get what they want from you.
But Starscream isn’t innocent either like he does try to kill Megatron multiple, multiple times for over millions of years, but here is what I think would have redeemed Starscream to a better point. If instead of trying to kill Megatron to gain power and take over the deceptions but if he had tried to kill him to get out of his abuse that is a whole different story and I have always liked to see a story of starscream trying to kill Megatron for power but them realizing that he really just wants him dead to end the abuse.
Here’s the thing Starscream had the chance to be loyal and follow behind Megatron to a degree because cmon now it’s Starscream and it doesn’t say it in the books but it’s sort of implied but I haven’t read the books I’ve just kinda heard recaps.
So if I remember correctly it says that Starscream began to grow jealous and a hatred towards skywarp because Megatron was PRAISING him like it also even states that he grew upset when Megatron put his arm over skywarp instead of him. Like yeah Starscream was just pushed to follow orders with the wrong stick, had Megatron used praise instead of punishment to get to Starscream to obey we would be seeing a different type of Starscream right now.
I love tfp like don’t get me wrong it’s a good show but like how many people have pointed out that the show is loved for it’s dark themes and representation of ptsd and abuse of power and things like that but they really failed to show the mental and physical abuse that was put on starscream and maybe they did it because they would have thought that abuse was maybe a little too dark but hey they had no problem showing us the death of an autobot that then turned into zombie and they also probably did it in case some kids liked Megatron and didn’t want to see their favorite character be a straight up abuser.
I really do believe that Starscream could have had a redemption arc like knockout and he could’ve done SO MUCH BETTER under the leadership of optimus like look at me straight in the eyes and they’ll he wouldn’t have, and I would have really loved to see him grow out of this mindset that when a bigger bot is in power he is gonna end up abused. (Give me fic rec). Starscream as a character had so much potential and I hate to have only three seasons of him I need them to make a book just for him and his character specifically in tfp cause you don’t just end up like starscream you aren’t really born that way you are made into that.
I will say this with passion I HATE HATE HATE rid15 look I haven’t finished season one cause it got so boring and so annoying that I had to stop but I was so exited when I found out Starscream had come back but as I said I haven’t gotten to him yet but I have seen clips of him and whole videos of people talking about him but I hated that they made him into a villain like the only thing that I accept is that they gave him fangs other than that it’s all non canon but they had such potential to redeem him because he sure did deserve better and yes I get it they are always gonna need villains but I really wished they would have gotten more in depth about how he escaped the predacons like he killed them with weapons that just happened to be laying around that is such a bullshit answer and where exactly he was and how he got his new remodel and stuff like that.
I would have loved the story to have made starscream a villain because of Megatron like he obviously had trauma and ptsd in tfp like the way he would react to Megatron and when he’s about to get beat when he and knockout make a terrorcon he backs away and gasps and moans in fear, he raises his hand and lowers his wings in straight up terror because he knows what’s coming next and him mistreating the minicons because he dosent know any better because Megatron mistreated him and that at one point finally made him listen made him obey so all he knows is to abuse like the abused becomes the abuser.
He is the spider man of the transformers universe like the writers straight up love abusing him well except in skybound cause that dude is kinda crazy…
But in all seriousness he deserved better and he needed better I just hate that the budget and the drama behind the show didn’t end up being the reason the show ended a bit too early with so many questions and things left unanswered.
I could straight up write paragraphs about his character.

Fandom posts about Megatron's trial/him being put on the Lost Light that frame Optimus as the bad guy are always so fucking funny to me. And it's almost never "Optimus putting Megatron on the Lost Light was an abuse of authority and unfair to Rodimus and everyone else on the ship" which is an actually valid critique, but I often see it from Megatron fans who are somehow convinced that Optimus was like.............unfair to him?????? By "making" Megatron join the Lost Light? Or by "forcing" him into doing things he didn't want to do?
There's the people who think that being put on the LL was a punishment for Megatron where they were constantly putting him through moral tests designed to make him fail which is.... literally where, where did you get that. The LL was just a random cruiseship of misfits who didn't even ask for Megatron to be on the ship with them, where are ppl getting this idea that Optimus/the LL crew were in some sort of Machiavellan plot to torment Megatron and rub in how he's so evil he'll never be accepted?
Or like the fact that wanting to join the LL in search of the Knights of Cybertron was literally Megatron's own idea and the whole "only the Knights of Cybertron can judge me" thing was a legal loophole that he only pulled out bc he was mad about Starscream publicly humiliating him during his trial? And that if Megatron really didn't want to agree to the terms of his parole, Optimus was just going to keep him in prison until the LL came back with the Knights rather than immediately executing him?
Oh but Optimus made Megatron drink Fool's Energon. Ah yes, it's so evil and unfair of Optimus to make Megatron (one of the deadliest fighters of their entire race) drink a substance to make him weaker due to the fact that in far space, there's no one to enforce Megatron's parole or to stop him if he was lying and really just wanted to kill everyone. And btw Fool's Energon was a placebo the whole time, so Optimus' gay ass couldn't even poison Megatron properly. It was entirely a token gesture made for appearances only.
What about the part where Optimus made Megatron denounce the Decepticons, you cry? Well if one were to actually read the entire speech instead of taking screenshots out of context (something this fandom loves to do), the "we were wrong to assert ourselves" comes directly after a statement about technoism and subjugating organics; in other words, "we were wrong" is referring to the whole colonialism and genocide thing, not saying "we were wrong to rise up against Functionism." (Which btw Optimus was literally a fanboy of Megatron's and agreed with his writings, and pre-war OP did his own undercover work to foil the Senate's plans, and they overthrew the previous Prime Zeta together, so idk where people are getting this idea that Optimus hates Megatron for being a meanie revolutionary that didn't play nice >:((( ).
And given that the Decepticons attacked Megatron's trial to try and break him out, and that there was a splinter faction of Deceptions under Galvatron that were trying to invade Earth again, I think it's pretty fucking reasonable that Optimus would go "So before I very indulgently grant you the rank of captain and let you go on a random cruise ship for your journey of self-actualization, would you mind making a speech to deradicalize the Decepticons? I'm trying to keep society from not descending into another civil war and you helping by telling the Decepticons to Fucking Stop is the least you can do in exchange." I mean if Megatron cared so much about the Decepticons he could've said "No, I'm not going to give that speech, in fact I'm going to stay on Cybertron and speak to the Decepticons my way" but he didn't bc he decided that going on his personal quest was more important than sticking around to integrate the Decepticons back into society.
But somehow, Megatron choosing to make that speech so that he'd be allowed on a ridiculously lenient parole is the big, evil Optimus' fault, and Megatron has nothing to do with how poorly the Decepticons are treated post war, he had no power to stop that apparently.
Like it's just so incredibly weird to me that Megatron fans villainize Optimus for, of all things, letting Megatron join the journey for the Knights of Cybertron. Optimus' decisions were almost entirely driven by personal bias towards Megatron where he abused his authority as Prime to defy what quite literally everyone on Cybertron (and possibly the whole galaxy) wanted, which was Megatron's immediate execution for his crimes. He lets Megatron free of prison with almost no oversight, grants him captaincy of an Autobot ship, gives him a freaking placebo instead of actual weakening energon, and the only thing he demands from Megatron in return is a speech to make the remaining Decepticons who were still fighting (which wasn't even all of them) understand that the war is over. And Megatron accepts all of these terms because the whole thing was his idea that he wanted to be allowed to do. The only reason Optimus' indulgence didn't go badly is bc Megatron wasn't lying and actually meant his heel-face turn.
But somehow all of this makes Optimus the bad guy who's being unfair to Megatron???? Never mind Optimus' flagrant disregard of the law in favor of granting Megatron's personal wish??? Never mind the fact that the conditions for Megatron's parole were incredibly lenient to the point that one of them was a placebo and not hurting Megatron in any way??? Never mind that the speech Optimus made Megatron make was entirely for political reasons to try to stabilize society again and not bc he wanted to humiliate Megatron or something ridiculous like that???
What I mean to say is it's very confusing to me why the discussion of Megatron's trial is "Optimus is so mean/bigoted for making Megatron do what he did and forcing him to live under such strict conditions" and not, idk, "Megatron chose to abandon the Decepticons and publicly denounce their cause for the sake of getting to go on his own personal journey" or even "Megatron was initially going to just submit to trial, and the Knights of Cybertron excuse was something he pulled at the last minute because Starscream made Megatron look like an idiot and Megatron decided he wanted a more Grand and Important legacy than that." Or even "If Megatron cared about the Decepticon,s he would've just refused Optimus' deal and stayed in prison on Cybertron rather than trade the dignity of their cause for his own freedom." Nope. It's all Optimus' fault. Poor Megatron was forced onto the Lost Light and this is such a horrible and unfair punishment for him.
People want Megatron to be a poor downtrodden victim of the Ebul Autobots so bad, when the reality is that post-war/early MTMTE Megatron is nothing more than a dethroned tyrant, severely in denial of of his own shittiness, going on a journey solely to benefit his own ego, and all of MTMTE/LL is about him trying to get better from his stupid pride and self-centered behavior.

Have you read the Megatron spotlight? If so what's your overview?
I have two views on it .
One I loved how it showed megatons cruelty and reminds us that at a point he was a villain, a violent, brutal bot that a huge chunk of the fandom forgets or waters down. I always talk about how the fan base pacifies starscream but Megatron is also a victim of people suddenly forgetting that he was a villain and that there were many times he was brutal for the sake of being so.
Spotlight Megatron is a good nod to the fact that even with what's to come and his redemption, he is a villain and even when he turns good we're not required to forget or excuse him.
I also hate it because of how brutally he treated starscream. It is horrible and terrifying seeing Starscream's raw fear and terror of Megatron and how that haunts him. That chapter was so grotesque because Starscream was also extremely suicidal. he didn't care what happened to him, in fact, he asked Megatron to kill him because he just didn't care...and he was also afraid of the pain.
There is just something so psychologically terrifying about Megatron seeing a suicidal Starscream, and tormenting him so much to the point where he doesn't wanna die anymore, not because he wants to survive but because he is afraid of what Megatron will do with him. Megatron basically beat the life back into him in a morbid way. Mind you, i believe Starscream actually SAVED megatron a few chapters before this or something like that.
Before this, i think even when they did try to kill one another the were on equal playing ground but this was something purely different and out of a horror. It at least to me, completely changed the dynamic of their relationship, which is why i was HAPPY that starscream got his licks at the trial against megatron.
That's one reason i was always iffy about megatron's redemption arc. Spotlight Megatron was different in the way Megatron treated Starscream, and I feel that at least IMO...Megatron wasn't ever fully redeemed because he quite literally never referenced that again.
also since media literacy is fucked, obligatory no...I'm not excusing that starscream was a piece of shit, evil, terrible person. not excusing he's a villain or acting like he's innocent okay??

Who would be crazy or desperate enough to try to sex up Tarn?
I feel like Tarn accidentally could give Pharma the impression he wanted the Jet carnaly and Pharma just finaly is "Ok, you win, have your wicked way with me!" Tarn is shocked when Pharma pops his interface array to display his glistening valve.(Pharma manually activated the lubrication function because he figures Tarn ain't gonna use lube.) Tarn ends up having to roll with it because he doesn't want Pharma to know that wasn't his intention. Pharma just broke a bit more mentally he doesn't dare give the Jet this as a win.
Bonus points if the misunderstanding comes from the differences between Jet and Grounder courting. Pharma thought Mr. Psychological Torment knew he was relentlessly hitting on him.
Hidden level extra secret bonus points if what Tarn ends up learning about the mating habits of jets in the aftermath completely recontextulizes Starscream's shenanigans as the longest running most elaborate attempt as courting in Seeker history because Megatron is oblivious to Starscream's true intentions.
Oooo????? Intriguing, love the return of accidental courting/seduction and it's Tarn of all mecha
Pharma will be so confused by Tarn not acting as how he'd expect, i feel like Tarn will be cumming in like a fucking minute because he is so not used to this, but he will make sure Pharma joins him in that because No Way is this version of Tarn going to neglect his new lover because, again, Tarn is a man of many vices— and sex is about to be one of them.
I just love the idea of Tarn crumbling under the right circumstances
Starscream's elaborate courting attempt must've been INSUFFERABLE to those who knew, like even the most dramatic of mecha didn't hold a candle to it. And it alllllllll went over a busy and unlikely to fuck his subordinates in this situation Megatron's head (that, or Megatron found out and dismissed the idea soon afterward) (because oh starscream, you're not getting what you wanted either :) )
Tarn's research has to be so conspicuous too
LMAO IMAGINE TARN DECIDES IT'S ONLY RIGHT TO COURT PHARMA PROPERLY THIS TIME... and it's a mess because now Pharma's confused on Tarn's odd behavior (cannot get over the image of Tank Courtingggg)
he finds the saddest looking crystal flowers to ever exist on Messatine too because it's definitely not the greatest environment for them. he still finds them though, and I'm tempted to suggest he unknowingly (or knowingly) secretly raided someone's sad little private crystal garden.

In the War Timeline, I bet that the Decepticons that deflect are either Knockout, Breakdown, or both because they're partners in crime. I really love these guys
Tumblr media
Previous Episode of the War Timeline
Time to rewind a little bit to the beginning of this timeline.
So the Decepticons make themselves known by talking out Zeke Jaeger, killing a good portion of Marleyan military, and taking Marleyans and mainland Eldians as prisoners/titan experimentation at multiple locations around the continent. Breakdown and the vehicons are tasked with keeping them in line and to kill anyone that tries to defect.
Now Breakdown is considered one of the more sociable Decepticons. He's willing to talk to and praise the vehicons for their good works. The vehicons do come to him with their concerns about this new world, the lack of technology, and the grotesque humans that can turn into titans. They prefer Earth because it had more accommodations to their needs, but this world doesn't have jack shit. They thought that they didn't like humans before, but now it's worse. They think that the Eldians are just disgusting monsters. But the Eldians are considered a more valuable commodity so they are kept in slightly better conditions than the Marleyans (ironic, isn't it).
But Breakdown does his best to reassure them that this is just a pit stop. They will be able to return to Earth, and with some new powers to boot. The Autobots wouldn't be able to stop them and the war would be over.
However, Breakdown ends up starting to feel sympathy for the humans, specifically the Eldians. Not the Marleyans. Breakdown and the other vehicons need to make sure the Eldians remain alive for army usage. The vehicons are thinking that it's better the humans than them. They've hated the way that the Autobots have gunned them down without remorse. But Breakdown has to help one of the Eldians who's sustained a physical injury while working. Specifically a warrior cadet. Specifically Colt Grice. He's the only one that old enough to handle the work, and is forced to do so or his family and friends get turned into titans. They're being held somewhere else for the time being. Colt doesn't know where.
But as Breakdown patches him up, Colt is looking at him with contempt. Breakdown threatens his life, but Colt doesn't care at this point. At least with Marley, there was a chance at a better life. But being a prisoner of the Decepticons was a guaranteed death and torment. Breakdown is definitely feeling guilty about that, and lets him go, still threatening his life if he acts out of line.
The longer Breakdown interacts with the humans, the more guilt he begins to feel. He sees the way that they try to help one another but are immediately forced back into line. He sees the way that some squabble amongst themselves for resources. He sees how absolutely miserable they are. And how it reminds him about how he was treated in the caste system. Breakdown finds himself sneaking in extra food for the first human he really interacted with, Colt. And Colt doesn't know why he's trying to be kind to him. They're just going to kill everything, regardless if they were Eldian or Marleyan. Colt finds himself still accepting those acts of kindness, because he needs to live long enough to find his family again.
Breakdown also notices the way that Knockout is trying his best to detach himself from the experiments and the sounds of the humans' screams and pleas for mercy as they are turned into titans. Knockout tries to make those snide comments he usually does when dealing with humans in the past, but Breakdown could tell that it was starting to get to the vain doctor. Breakdown notices the way that Megatron has started to become more and more obsessed with the power of the titans, even trying to mold it with Cybertronian material. It disgusted a good portion of the Decepticons, but none of them spoke a word, lest they receive punishments for it.
Then Megatron sends Airachnid to the island by herself. They all know full well that it's a suicide mission. They didn't intend to help her or get her back. Breakdown brings it up and retorts about the fact that they have no second-in-command now, and Megatron automatically appoints Dreadwing without a second thought. Megatron also reminds Breakdown and the others of Airachnid deception to overtake the Decepticons, and the only one that really stopped her was Soundwave. His tolerance for them was starting to run thin.
Megatron then tasks Breakdown and Knockout with retrieving the titans that were on the island, based on Soundwave's intel. They only manage to get two out of the three, distracted by the way that the humans were putting up a fight, and that the Autobots were actually here. They all knew that the island was going to be targeted next, and once Megatron got the powers of the Founder, this world was pretty much doomed. Some were elated at the idea, but others were not. Breakdown conveys his concerns to Knockout as Ymir is spying on them in the vents, but Knockout reasons that they have nowhere to go and that the two of them would be hunted down. Their safest bet was to be on the winning team. Knockout kisses Breakdown on the cheek before leaving the room, completely unaware that Ymir snuck down to steal one of the energon vials.
But one day, he hears Colts complete story through their talks, about how their uncle was trying to restore Eldia, and how he and his brothers became warriors to protect themselves. They were willing to shorten their lives to keep their families safe and oh...oh Breakdown can't fucking take it anymore.
Breakdown pulls Knockout to the side and begs his partner and conjunx to come with him. They need to go now! Knockout reminds him about Soundwave. The vehicons! Him! What about the two of them?! At that moment, Mikasa blows up the engine room and the ship is going down. Breakdown offers his servo to Knockout and begs him to jump out with him, but Knockout doesn't take it. And Breakdown leaves without him. After the ship crashes, Megatron demands to know the status of their forces. For Breakdown's sake, Knockout lies about Breakdown and says that he ended up dying in an explosion caused by the crash. The vehicons are in remorse, but Megatron doesn't seem to care, wanting to get attended to for his wounds from Ymir and getting the chance to get his ship up and running again. Dreadwing knows how close the two are, and has a feeling that Knockout is lying, but without any evidence, and the semblance of honor that he has, keeps his mouth shut.
Meanwhile, Breakdown drives as fast as he can to the Decepticon camp that Colt is being held at. With the Decepticons in disarray, now is as good a time as any to break them out. He knocks out the two vehicons that were there, but doesn't kill them. He doesn't have the heart to kill them. They didn't do anything wrong. Breakdown frees the humans and grabs Colt, telling him that he's going to help him find the rest of his family. Colt is stunned and asks why he's doing it, but Breakdown says that he's starting to feel empathy for the fleshy humans. Colt doesn't know if he should, but he needs to find his family, and goes with Breakdown to find the others.
(Did I take a page out of Good Omens? Maybe. But wow, juggling this many characters in the War Timeline is tricky as fuck.)
