valentine's day special!

synopsis • Valentine's day with him!

warning(s) & tag(s) • no real warnings, but mirio's is suggestive at the end, tooth rooting fluff for valentine's day, I had to run laps writing this. fem!reader.

Less is more with Bakugou.

Bakugou really thinks the holiday is super cheesy but there's definitely a reason why he feels that way. He's always had a tough time expressing his emotions and his image of being a tough guy didn't help the fact either. It actually made things harder for him in that sense.

He knows one thing for sure though: that he loves you.

Smiling, you picked up the elegant glass vase with a beautiful bouquet of red, pink and white roses inside. The notecard set in them read:

'Happy Valentine's day, dummy. I love you.'

'— Your Katsuki.'

Bakugou feels his heart flutter in his chest when he sees you enter the common room. Right now he's no longer paying attention to the rowdy boys gathered around the coffee table having an arm wrestling tournament.

Right now, Bakugou 100% certain you got his gift. He was just a little worried that you may have not liked it. He wondered if he did enough. This whole relationship thing is still foreign to him, was he doing it right? He was too caught up in his thoughts to notice you that you had walked over to him standing behind the couch. You leaned over to his ear.

"Thank you. I love you too." You whispered and left a gentle kiss on his cheek. Just as quickly as you came, you left and headed towards the kitchen to grab a water bottle from the fridge. Bakugou rested his elbows on his knees, looking down at his feet to hide the smile he had.

Is definitely one the few to be so extra and so in your face during valentines day. All Kiri wants is to show all his love and appreciation to you during the holiday dedicated to exactly that. It's a perfect holiday for him because naturally his heart is so full of passion and kindness.

The type to get you a giant plushie literally the size of you, your favorite flowers, cute balloons, your favorite candy and a Valentines day card. Will give it all to you like it's nothing.

"(Name)?" Momo called for you

"Yeah Mo? What's up?" You looked up at her from pouring some tea. All she did was point and you followed her finger.

"Oh my god, what did you do, Kiri?" You laughed lightly as looked at your boyfriend struggling to drag the giant teddy bear he was holding in one arm, and flowers, balloons, and a basket of candy in the other. You gently places the teapot down to walk over to help him. You took the ballons, flowers and basket from one of his hands.

"Happy Valentines day, babe!" Kirishima is slightly out of breath, but regardless smiles at you so brightly. He leans in to give you a peck on the lips despite your amused facial expression. You watched him flop on the couch in an extra manner, like he was just so tired.

"Is all this for me...?" You try to make out his messy handwriting.

"Of course, pebble!" He immediately livens back up and grabs the giant plushie by its arms making it dancing cutely.

"My name is Teddy Riot~" Kirishima hid behind the bear's head as he voiced it. It was the cutest thing you've ever seen in your life. Kirishima popped his head up and looked at you.

"Teddy Riot was a pain to bring to the dorms. Please accept him." He smiled.

"Kiri.." You pout feeling your heart swell with joy. You cupped your boyfriend's chin with your free hand and planted a kiss on his lip. You were so in love with him.

A real gentleman. Shoto will definitely get you a glass bouquet of red and white roses and take you out to a fancy dinner so dress nice.

He feels indifferent towards Valentine's day. He's neither excited for the holiday nor dreading it but since he's in a relationship with you he's more than happy to make you feel special by taking you out.

"I enjoyed tonight, Sho." You smiled up at him with your arms wrapped around his neck with one of your hands giving the back of his head some head scratches.

"I did aswell, love." A gentle smile on his lips as he pulled your waist closer into his body. He looked at you with such admiration and love you couldn't help but to shy away upon feeling the butterflies in your tummy. You don't think you'll ever get used to that feeling. You don't want to.

"Why are you being shy? Hm?" Shoto chuckles and you hid your face in the crook of his neck trying to hide the fact that you were blushing. Not only did he look amazing, but he smelled amazing as well. He was walking luxury.

"Butterflies." You smiled goofily at him and felt your cheeks heat up more by making eye contact one more time. He found you so endearing like this he wanted to capture this moment and live it forever.

At 12AM on February 14th, everything is on a set schedule. Everything little thing is planned to make sure you have the best day ever. He does little things for you all day that just make everything so much easier or enjoyable. For example, him buying you breakfast and lunch, getting you some cold water before and after training for the day, brushing the hair out of your face and having hair ties/headbands readily available to you when you need them, the list goes on.

Even after all those acts of service he still takes you out that night. It's a fun night in the city. You end up at a karaoke bar singing your hearts out in your designated booth.

Midoriya watches you in awe as you sing your little heart out to one of the corniest songs in existence. You're not singing good but you're having fun and that's what he's happy about. He's happy that you both can be goofy and carefree in front of each other so comfortably. The smile on your face is so big and your cheeks are dusted with the faintest of reds against your skin. That's when Midoriya realizes he's in love with you.

The song ends and you plop down next to him in giggles handing him the mic. All he can do is just look at you with the softest of eyes. He's got it bad.

Midoriya takes the mic from your hands and smiles at you. It was his turn now but he's sure to tell you that he loves you later that night at the dorms.

"Come on, baby! Sing me something funny!" You clap your hands excitedly.

Oh, Denki so nervous about Valentine's day. He just doesn't want to fuck anything up. He hasn't had the best track record with love in general so Valentine's day makes him anxious. He's just really happy he already has you because he doesn't think his heart could handle if he had to confess to you. You were so popular! He was for sure his confession would certainly fly under your radar through all the other confessions you receive that day.

Luckily, he doesn't have to worry.. much. Denki finally wants to day he loves you. He's ready and he wants it to he perfect. Valentine's day is the perfect time to do so. He set you two up a picnic at a park.

"Denki? You okay? You look pale." Your concered voice pulled him from his thoughts. Was he okay? Probably not. He felt like his heart was going to jump out his chest. Ugh, and why did you have to look so.. pretty today? You sat so pretty in your pale yellow sundress and sunkissed skin. The yellow tulip Denki placed behind your ear made you look like some sort of sunshine or flower goddess.

"Yeah! Totally A-okay, babe!" He laughed nervously and you tilted your head at him.

"Kaminari. You're lying." You said. At this point in your relationship you saw right past him, you knew when something was up with him. He was always a terrible liar when it came to you.

"You can tell me anything, you know th-"

"I'm in love with you." He blurted out. Denki mentally slapped himself when he saw your initial face of shock. He was just about to apologize for being too forward but he leaned over and kissed him much to his surprise. When you pulled away you had a smile on your face.

"I love you too." You said.

Tamaki knew he wanted to get you something nice for Valentine's day but he just wasn't sure what and it was starting to make him anxious with Valentine's day rounding the corner. Luckily, Mirio calmed his nerves with some words of encouragement and decided that he would tag along with Tamaki to help him shop for the perfect gift for you.

Tamaki took you to your favorite frozen yogurt shop and sat you outside. It was a beautiful day, everything was going perfect.

"Close your eyes for me? Please?" Tamaki's voice was gentle with the softest smile on his lips. He had a faint blush on his cheeks. He looked a little nervous but it seemed like the good kind of nerves. You sat down your small up of frozen yogurt down on the table and closed your eyes.

"You better not be stealing my toppings, Tama." You pouted playfully.

"I'm not," He chucked and there was a shuffle. "Okay, you can open them now.." He says.

When you opened your eyes, there was a heart shaped diamond necklace dangling in front of your face by Tamaki's hand. It's beautiful but this couldn't be for you, right? You furrowed your brows and looked at him.

"Happy Valentine's day, angel." He smiles shyly. Without any thought, you got up from your seat and plopped yourself right on his lap. You peppered his whole face with kisses while you cupped his cheeks.

"Ah.. I'm.. glad- you like it-" He says through squished cheeks and your attack of kisses.

A Cassanova for sure! He's definitely one of the ones that goes all out. Mirio really knows how to swoon you and since it's Valentine's day he really takes it up a notch. He's real classic about it too. Roses? Check! Chocolates? Check! Your favorite animal in the form of a stuffie? Check!

He always walks you to class in the mornings. Today was no different, except it was Valentine's day! He was excited to see you.

"Good morning, sunshine!" Mirio's cheerful voice greeted you when you opened your door. You couldn't help but to smile, seeing him was like taking a happy pill. You noticed all the gifts in his arms.

"Good morning, bub." You said and stood on your tippy toes asking for a kiss with puckered lips. He happily obliged and leaned down to peck your lips.

"Happy Valentine's day! I got you some real cute stuff." He smiled looked down at him arms.

"But we said no presents." You whined and stomped your feet lightly. He chuckled at your cuteness.

"I may have pulled a fast one on you but you can't be too mad, right?" Mirio winked at you and smiled.

"I have to get you something now, you jerk." You leaned to smell the roses he hand in hand. The smelled amazing, so beautiful too.

"Don't worry about me, cutie. Today is all about you." He was always to set on doing things for other people it was hard to do things for him sometimes. You did have one thing in mind though.

"What's the time?" You asked.

"7 AM." He answered.

"We have an hour. Get in here." You pulled him by the bicep into your room and shut the door.

"Be considerate of it, if you’re just going to continue standing there, please," Todoroki adds in, his face in a neutral expression as always. He pulls out one of his books and opens it. if Eijirou hadn't been looking for it- looking for a sign that this was all a joke- he would have missed the glint of mischievousness in Todoroki’s eye. "If you get dirt on it, it might fall into my eye and that would be a pain to get out.."

Eijirou doesn't know what to make of this.

That's why when he announced his congratulations to the class, they of course thought of a way to celebrate. "You want me to chaperone your beach trip?" Aizawa repeated back. "Yes sir." Iida answered confidently.

Class 1-A goes to the beach. Shenanigans ensue.

Raccoon Eyes slams her palms down on the table. “I’ve got it!” She cries exuberantly, and jabs a finger in Shitty Hair’s face. “Pick dare!” Kirishima looks a bit taken aback by the sudden demand.

“Uh, yeah sure, dare,” he agrees, leaning back in his seat. Ashido grins maniacally and slams her hands down again, but drops her voice. “I dare you to sneak over and get Midori’s journal!” Katsuki feels something twist in his stomach, something buried, forgotten, toxic. “If you bring it over here, he’ll have to come join!”

“Mina, I don’t know if that’s-” Kirishima begins, clearly hesitating as he glances in Deku’s direction.

“You can’t back down from a dare!” Ashido says fiercely. “That’s like, the opposite of manly!” Fuck. Those damn magic words. Katsuki’s not sure why he does it liar, but he turns to face Shitty Hair and grabs the collar of his shirt.

“Don’t,” he growls lowly.

thoughts: fun concept, and truth or dare is always a good trope.

Even if I’m already regretting it doesn’t mean you should make him feel that way.”

Bakugou scoffed even as Iida nodded so swiftly he jostled the water in the buckets he was still holding. No one had told him he could put them down yet and he stayed planted close to the fire, ready to react at a moment’s notice. --- OR: Class 1-A gets permission to have a bonfire night and can enjoy some of the perks of summer like normal teenagers.

thoughts: i just love when 1-a gets to be normal teens doing normal things. really a joy.

@aku-jumbi - HQ!!, Various, You all had seen me share a BUNCH of their works on my blog, but it’s just because their art is so SOOOOOOOOO good. Your style leans toward photorealism, while still maintaining its painting-like quality, so if you had ever wondered how your favorite characters may look like irl, they’ve got you!!! Watching your speed painting is so fascinating, idk how you do it, but you’re always killing it every time (Like our process is so different, so it was really interesting to see how you approach your works you know?). This piece of Kei Tsukishima and Oikawa Tooru are two of my favorite works you’ve done!

@achieve-the-sun - HQ!!, Various, Let me start off by saying that I love Morghy’s art so much, that they are the first and only person I had ever commissioned from so far. They drew Keishin and I sooo adorably, it brings me so much joy to look at it on the daily. Your style reminds me of freshly baked cookies, or the warmth of bakeries, I can’t help but feel a sense of coziness whenever I look at your adorable artworks. This piece you did of Kageyama and Hinata was what had drawn me to you. Everything from your color choices, fluid gestures, and expressions are such a delight to look at!

@chaotickatts - HQ!! I am so in love with Katts, you all. I had never seen anyone draw like this, her style is really unique. I can go on forever about why I love your art, but one of the biggest things that drew me to your style is the way you draw bodies. I like the variation and realistic details you include, for instance, I absolutely adore the way you gave Sakusa more moles on his body, and the way you drew dad bod Osamu. Idk, I think there’s so many different types of body shapes and details out there, and it brings me joy to see you being so inclusive of them in your art.

@namusw - Hunter x Hunter. Was drawn to their Hunter x Hunter works and I don’t even watch/read that manga. Honestly, just check them out, I love everything about their works, they are also a killer at both traditional and digital styles. This piece of Hisoka, Illumi, and Chrollo was the one that made me fall in love.

@cranbearly - HQ!! I really adore the way they draw expressions and their coloring style (inspired me to attempt some flat coloring). This piece of Oikawa and Iwa made me follow them instantly. Expressions are so difficult to nail, and you’ve done such an amazing job conveying every emotion the characters are feeling, I’ve learned so much just from looking at your works, so thank you for blessing us with your craft.

@a-zebra-was-here - HQ!! Their art has a very carefree type of vibe and their coloring style brings me so much joy. I’ve really enjoyed your drawings of the Miyas’, this piece of the twin was what got me, and this other piece, the first image of young Miyas’ was so SO well done, I am in love with the way you colored that. 😻

@erionmakuo - Various, dude....I want to cry, I don’t even know what to say, EVERY SINGLE PIECE of your artworks just BLOWS ME AWAY. The way you color your art is just so ethereal, the color schemes you had chosen, the way you mix the color of your lighting, textures, and everything in general, I can go on about this all day but just hop on to their blog and you will know exactly what I mean. I don’t have a particular piece that drew me in because I was blessed by all your works at once.

@uranarino - HQ!!, Your artworks bring me so much joy. If I have to describe your style like an experience in life, I would say it reminds me of how it’s like to fall in love with someone for the first time, if that makes sense. That sudden overwhelming feeling you get when you’re doing the most mundane things with someone you care about, only for time to stop as you realize how in love you are with them? Yea, your art captures that really well. These two pieces of Kuroo returning home with his groceries and of him taking a day nap with his cats was what had drawn me to you.

@queenoftheantz - HQ!!, Various, Their style is really unique, it kind of reminds me of an adventurous graphic novel or something you would see on Cartoon Network (idk, I thought of Chowder, but please, I really mean it as a compliment, I just really love the fun cartoon style you have.) They also do some animations! I really love this piece of Kyotani you did, the landscape and colors look SOO GOOD!!

@noodlemanjpg - HQ!!, Various, love LOVE your style and the way you draw expressions. I also really love how you color, your works “appear” effortless, but I know a lot of knowledge and precision is put into crafting it. This piece of Kuroo x Yaku being all cozy at the couch was what had drawn me to your blog, it makes me smile every time I look at it. Kuroo’s smitten expression is just...ahsdl;adjs I can’t help but smile with him.

@diabolism666 - HQ!!, c’mon, you can’t be in the HQ!! fandom without at least seeing one of their artworks. In fact, I had seen your art even before I’ve gotten into this show, and it was love at first sight, lemme tell ya. EVERY. SINGLE. THING. you had drawn are so good, it doesn’t even matter if it’s a more simplistic drawing or elaborate one, I am just always staring at it in awe. Thank you for being so incredibly active about it too, idk how, but you’ve produced so many amazing drawings and we’re just incredibly grateful for it. You draw some of best Tendou, Reon and Toshi out there. Your works have so much range, I really feel like you can draw ANYTHING hahaha.

@viria - Various, Viria *sobs* your works are so good. The way you draw faces and affection just gives me butterflies. I don’t even watch Fullmetal Alchemist, but this piece you did of Edward and Winry made me fall so deeply in love with your works. Your style has a certain softness to it, even when it is of an angry character, and I love it.

@nipuni - Various, another artist that I am incredibly nervous to tag because your works are just out of the world. You also seem so so nice and is always incredibly helpful whenever anyone sends you an ask. Just...I have the biggest crush on you and your works. EVERYTHING you had drawn is so stunning, and I mean it. The details, pose, composition, and coloring, it is just so perfect, I could pull up particular artworks, but I was really blessed by it all at once. If you are into fantasy-esque realistic looking portraits, check her out, she exudes so much knowledge and talent.

@hinamihere - HQ!!, Your artworks are soo stinkin adorable. Your color choices, expressions and the way you draw hair is just so cute, your art always bring the biggest smile to my face. This piece you did of Akaashi and Bokuto was what drew me to you, when I saw it, I “awhhh”ed so loudly, my hubby had to ask me what’s up, and when I showed it to him, he had the same reaction, even if he’d never seen Haikyuu!!

@oxxuri - BNHA, so SO good, the way you color, light, and draw is so beautiful. Every single detail, down to every lashes and strands of hair is so beautiful. You draw some of the most attractive faces I had ever seen, these drawings of Aizawa and Midoriya brings me so SOOOO much joy, and I don’t even know anything about BNHA.

@amezure - HQ!!, their comic strips always make my day, I was giving their blog a peep so I can pull up specific examples and my statement is instantly confirmed when I stumbled across their newest comic art of Kuroo and Bokuto and started laughing HAHA. 😂 Your self study sheets are incredibly informative and I find myself referencing them often, it’s so nice to see my favorite artists continue to polish their craft through endless amounts of studying, practice, and analysis. It serves as a constant reminder for myself to do the same. I love the way you draw people (check out this piece of Bokuto x Akaashi), but I ESPECIALLY love the way you draw animals. (Specifically anything that has to do with lil owl Bo and Akaashi 🥺)

@obobro - Avatar the Last Airbender, HQ!!, I am absolutely in love with the way you color and draw portraits. Your drawing and detailing has so much range; you have a series of hand drawings, and that alone already displays so SO much range. I was really drawn in by this drawing of Tsukki, Zuka + Azula, and of Sokka + Katara, you can really tell they were related and I love it so much. Your art has so much life to it, it’s truly fascinating.

BNHA Rewatch: Season 1 Episode 7 “Deku vs Kacchan”

Here. We. Go!

Backstory time. (I guess this episode is all about Deku and Kacchan, BTW, so no corner this time. Too much stuff would be in there). Deku recounts their past together. The phrasing is different in different translations. I like how honest Deku is about his rival’s character - how he’s not necessarily “good” or “evil”, but became kind of an asshole after developing his quirk. Also, cute!

Poor Iida, BTW. Saddled with the Worst Teammate Ever. (at least right now. Contrast point: JTA Bakugou)

Though Deku isn’t much better! Sure, get rid of Uraraka! it’s not like you’re fighting a powerful opponent or anything! Not like that Zero G couldn’t solve this problem easily! (You just really wanna mono y mono him, don’t you Deku?)

Deku being strategic! (Why isn’t Bakugou considered captured then and there? All Might said! Capture tape! Shouldn’t that have…oh never mind, who cares. Fight!)

Here we have the explanation as to why Deku tells Kacchan about his quirk: Kacchan thinks Deku’s been lying to him. And the thing is, he…well, has. Not his whole life, but he has lied to his mom, and presumably via sin of omission, to everyone in his middle school (and UA), including Bakugou. Which Deku is fine with - for everyone else. Because it’s All Might’s secret, and it’s understandable, and Bakugou later reprimands him for telling even him. But that’s the thing. Deku doesn’t feel comfortable lying to Bakugou, and Bakugou alone. For some reason.

Yes, he has a good, rational explanation of why he didn’t work with Uraraka and let her go off to fight Iida. But he immediately undercuts it by reminding us that he does, in fact, wish to fight Kacchan himself. Again, why Filler!Deku is so scared of meeting Kacchan’s challenges head-on when he’s been fully committed to being his rival since Episode7/Chapter 9 is beyond me.

I kinda like how Bakugou has no Tragic Backstory or reason to be the way he is beyond being told his whole life that he’s better than everyone else. It’s such a perfect deconstruction of that Main Hero mindset - you see this same setup in so many other stories, where the Chosen One hero is told from a young age that he’s Destined for Greatness or whatever. And he’s always a perfect cinnamon roll. Instead of the kind of person that treatment would really create. Basically, someone like Bakugou.

More adorable/mean flashbacks. (It’s like watching South Park. They’re so mean but the art style is so cute!) I like how Deku, even LilDeku, doesn’t take shit from Kacchan. He talks back. And he never stops following him around.

Ah, the defining moments. Deku is declared Quirkless and therefore worthless (somebody hug him!) Then the creek incident. This scene is so cute, and it starts this big visual motif throughout the series pertaining to these two: Deku’s outstretched hand. (one translation I heard of “The Day” translates the line right before they fight in the OP as “reach out and finally take my hand”, which is perfect). But yes, there is this long buildup for Bakugou to one day cast aside that pride, realize that Deku just wants to help him, and Take. That. Hand.

Iidaraka! This scene is so hilariously funny. If I wasn’t already in love with this series before, this moment clinched it. Iida pretending to be a villain, complete with monologuing (I bet the dub was intentionally referencing The Incredibles there.) Cute Iichaco moment here, I love how he cracks her up. (Though Iida also makes the mistake of taking it too easy on her here. He doesn’t go for the knockout punch and loses for it. Thankfully a certain hothead does not make that same mistake in the sports festival.)

This freaked me out hard the first time I saw it. It’s such a hit. Like damn, how is Deku even alive now? The way it’s animated is so brutal! Though there is an explanation for the giant gauntlets and Bakugou’s quirk that makes a ton of sense here though; Hori even explained how his parents’ quirks made the power later on! It’s all so well thought out.

So again, this also freaked me out the first time around. He looks fucking crazy (And I loooove crazy characters. Deku the Absolute Madman and Bakugou’s crazyface are a big part of why I watch this series). But later on this gets a callback when All Might is talking about Bakugou “smiling in the face of a wall”, compiled with his smile when facing Uraraka and All Might. So this puts Deku on the same level as those two, the only two opponents Bakugou truly respects. Well, well. :)

BTW the second of the two manga chapters this episode is based on is called “Breaking Bakugou”. Just a funny bit of trivia.

Uraraka’s main character flaw at this point, her general lackadaisacal attitude and lack of willingness to just jump in and take initiative, shows up in this arc, and she makes her first step towards overcoming it. She’s inspired by how much Deku wants to win to Go Plus Ultra. I think Uraraka is a character who tends to mold herself after the people around her (her parents, Deku, even Bakugou post Sports Fest briefly), hence why Toga is her Evil Counterpart. This is her flaw, that she doesn’t quite know who she is outside of copying others, and what she needs to overcome.

We get some comedy as Bakugou gets jealous of Deku ignoring him again. Notice me you damn nerd! You idiot baka!

Kirishima’s first impressions of Bakugou are all so terrible. It’s hilarious in hindsight since they end up BFFs, but he really thought Bakugou was a reckless asshole the first time around. Also Todoroki’s first line is talking about how Bakugou is smarter than he looks. So let’s enjoy some of my personal headcanon, namely that if Kiri has a crush on a member of Wonder Duo it’s actually Deku, and for Todoroki it’s actually Bakugou. Yes, the reverse of what everyone else thinks.

This fight is so damn brutal. Bakugou pays Deku back in kind for bodyslamming him. Of course, I loved that Deku was planning something that whole time (I knew, first time around, when his dialogue with Uraraka was muted, that he had a plan up his sleeve. And what a plan it is!). But still, watching him get beaten up this badly is hard to see.

Now the big buildup moment. Deku confesses the truth: He wants to beat Kacchan because he thinks Kacchan is amazing. Bakugou thinks Deku is looking down on him, which is such a weird way to twist Midoriya’s behavior - but makes sense if Bakugou, deep down, knows that Deku totally can. And Deku, he just wants to surpass him. As he puts it later on, his image of Victory.

YOU SAY RUN. Drink! As an aside, All Might has a very interesting role in the whole Deku vs Kacchan thing. Not only is he the reason for their conflict (each idolize him/wanna be like him in different ways), he also perpetuates it willingly here by not stopping the fight. And he does so because he wants to support Deku. Which is interesting. All Might has some perception into Midoriya, and he comments here that this is the most pumped up he’s seen Deku. Bakugou brings that out in Midoriya, and that’s why All Might is, overall, rather supportive of them mending their friendship, ending up as Wonder Duo, the best heroes who Win and Rescue. Because Deku needs that challenge in his life to amp him up. To keep him going.

And now Deku’s plan. I’m not sure if the Entrance Exam bit counts, because at the time he didn’t know how badly his body would be effed up, but this time he does. So I’m calling it: The first instance of Absolute Madman Deku. My favorite Deku moments are always these bits, where he does something so crazy and brilliant and self-destructive that it shouldn’t work, but because he’s also clever, it totally does. And with Uraraka’s teamwork, the Hero Team wins!

We end on a moment between Deku and Kacchan, where Deku (pulling the first of his true Crazy Eyes faces) tells Kacchan that he was not, in fact, looking down on him, and only holding back because he’d be hurt. And the anime adds, from the Manga, Kacchan looking kind of shocked about what he’s seeing, maybe even a little guilty/horrified by Deku hurting himself. What an ending!

So the first time around, after watching the first four eps day-by-day at work, I had a weekend where I binged through the rest of Season 1, so my first impressions of the rest of the season aren’t as clear to me as those first few episodes. In hindsight, I think this is one of the best episodes of Season 1, and one of the first that really started fleshing out these characters into the complex little tragic heroes they are today. It’s all just glimpses of the surface; little to indicate how much is really lying beneath. But it’s important, nonetheless, as an early indicator.

Absolutely astounding. Full of surprises and emotional and cool.

An absolute tearjerker and unbelievably brutal. Cannot watch without getting nervous.

Partly the animation, which is so beautiful it should be in the Louvre. But also the fight itself. Of course. Strategy, emotion, Deku and Kacchan.

A lot of people have mentioned that in the tags/under the post and that makes me!!! super happy!!!! Good Omens is one of my fav books and Crowley one of my fav characters, so the comment feels nice! I wasn’t specifically thinking about them when drawing it, but possibly a bit I was influenced anyway!! I wonder if what made everyone think about them was Kiri’s sunglasses? It’s not noticeable but I did give him glowing eyes too after all haha

Never thought of it tbh, but at this point I’m pretty sure with a lot of work on Baku’s part they’d be able to stick together long enough! He wouldn’t find it comfortable but they’d def be one of the strongest three-people-fusions in the class - not the strongest, tho, since they all have the same sort of straightforward offensive power when it comes to their quirks, I think I could find three people who’d make a stronger fusion... Baku Kiri and Momo, for example, would be even more impressive imho! Since all their quirks cover a different field, and their minds/personalities mesh well enough to have the right amount of planning and instinctive reaction/self-preservation and safety of others/pride and self-doubt/lawfulness and chaotic acting and so on. Even just as a team, without counting them as a fusion, I think they’d make one of the most balanced ones! Compared to that putting Todo Deku and Baku in the same place is just a recipe for disaster more often than not haha

HECK anon sorry but nothing like this would happen ever as long as I’m the one writing the AU! For three main reasons! One, I don’t think Deku is traumatized at all! His relationship with Baku at the moment is actually pretty damn neat and on equal footing, you go you two, growing so much!! Two, Baku and Todo are friends!!! And Todo would never be a dick to Baku instead of just talking to him, if he had a problem with him!! Three, even if one and two weren’t true, Deku has no need for knights in shining armor fighting his battles for him!! He’s a strong independent boy and if he hasn’t fought Baku over this it’s probs cause he doesn’t want anyone to fight him over it!!! Also in this specific AU Todo and Deku aren’t dating, so the scenario doesn’t work for me! Sorry!

I’m not gonna draw any other switch with other students, because before settling on Baku and Todo I went through a lot of possibilities and came to the conclusion that nothing would be as funny as Baku and Todo switched are (or at least nothing Horikoshi hasn’t already done himself lmao) so there’s that. I might draw more of them switched, but to be honest with you the only idea with that concept I have right now is Bakugou forgetting he’s suddenly taller and continuously walking into things around the dorms, so there’s that as well hahaha

ok so. so so so. this will be a long message, because frick on a stick there is so much i want to tell you and thank you for. so brace yoself: i read history has its eyes on you only yesterday, but i've been desparately rereading it ever since, almost non-stop, because holy macaroni if this fic ain't one of the most perfect stories these tired eyes have ever seen. i love SO MANY THINGS i'm not sure where to even start, gosh. okay. okay. let's start at the beginning. This ask and my response got long, so I’m putting it under the cut. There’s a bunch of headcanons about the ‘see it all in bloom’ universe in here, so if you’re interested, keep reading.

your headcanons regarding class 3-a’s rise to fame/the july attacks/deku’s leap in the limelight as future number one, i adore it all. it makes sense, it’s exciting even if we don’t get to see it on the page word-for-word/in real time, and it’s inspiring too! but most of all, it fits them all so well – they deserve to be written as great heroes and i’m beyond happy you gave that to them in your story – to ALL of them, including shinsou. cookies for you. (2/?)

secondly, the rankings you picked for them – deku as no.1 of course, and katsuki ACTUALLY BEING CONTENT WITH SECOND PLACE, EFF YEAH! and shouto at no.4, holding neither all might’s nor his father’s former ranks, i appreciate the heck out of this. just… all the kids becoming awesome heroes and having wonderful, fulfilling careers just like they’ve always wanted, i’m here for this and i’m here to STAY. (3/?)

thirdly, katsuki’s character. i will be the first person in this fandom to admit my intense dislike of him, but you’ve written him in exactly the way i’ve always wanted him to turn out – significantly less jaded, noticeably more humble (and sane…), actively working to correct the mistakes of his past by becoming an advocate for quirkless kids and participating in anti-bullying campaigns (as an ex bully-victim, reading this made me want to kiss you) with deku, that felt sweet on the soul (4/?)

and also being married to kirishima, of course. DUH. speaking of which, the ships! THE SHIPS! ALL. MY. FAVOURITE. SHIPS. they were all there, they all got attention, and i love you all the more for it. tododeku especially. i just love how tenderly yet comfortably they were written. in my mind, they’ve always felt like the couple that will get the happily-ever-after kind of romance, like two souls mated in a fairy tale come to life. and they, above all others, deserve that everlasting joy (5/?)

and the parts with toshinoti, how he’s dealing with his new(-ish?) lifestyle and the world is spinning on without him, but also taking care of him, because he’s more than earned it – how all his former friends and students have become family to him and are so eager to remain an active part of his life, how he helps bakugou with teaching (for dummies ;P) and is so painfully proud of deku, it was all so deeply touching and heartwarming, i loved every single one of his scenes to bits! (6/?)

the writing was wonderful forma purely technical point as well: there were some typos but nothing serious, and it all flowed quickly yet smoothly – you stylde felt simple and dynamic, but also somehow profound, perhaps precisely because of its simplicity. i still can’t put my finger on it. i just know i loved it. your ocs were a great addition too! their personalities felt distinct and they left good impressions without overstaying their welcome in a class 3-a-centred story, top job! (7/?)

the whole domestic feel of the fic was wonderful as well! it felt like a true slice-of-life piece, even though the lives in question are filled with action and danger. you captured the nature of the balance between working your (adventurous and stardom-speckled) dream job and living your private life/spending quality off-time with friends very accurately. the final excerpt (the description of the photo) left a sweetly nostalgic sense buzzing in my chest. just… thank you for this story. (8/?)

and now that i’m done singing your praises, time for the payback! i adore this verse, and therefore i naturally have questions. first and most importantly, the tododeku relationship development. could you tell me when and how they got together in this verse, how that whole tidbit with suing endeavour went, and when and how exactly they got engaged? i assume it’s in the 5 months leading up to the reunion, but details please? future wedding details too? give me ALL THE DETAILS. (9/?)

then, ranking details! we know deku’s no.1, bakugou’s no.2, and shouto’s no.4, but the fic mentions the class currently has 6 members in the top 10. who are the rest, and who’s the number 3 hero? please tell me it’s momo. PLEASE. also, have their ranks changed since the time they graduated, or have they remained the same for the last 7 years (i.e. deku’s always been no.1 ever since he entered the ranklist, shouto’s always been no.4, etc.)? and what’s shinsou’s rank? (10/?)

what about teaching details? where’s nedzu if aizawa’s principle? is shinsou a part-time teacher or a guest lecturer? does bakugou now do teaching full time, or does he only do homeroom for one class and keeps hero-ing in the meantime? will he even remain in the ranklist if he stops fighting villains? will he even care? and on a less-related note, are bakushima the only married couple? and when did they get married? was deku best man? my shameless curiosity demands to know everything (11/?)

finally, in case i haven’t tormented you enough, i wanted to ask, how do you envision our heroes’ futures? we know they’re only 25 in the story, and tododeku are about to soon get married. and bakushima are married already, bakugou’s switching careers, yada yada. but if you had to plot a course for the rest of class 3-a’s lives, what would it look like? all might mentioned grandchildren, but would tododeku want that? and where even was/is kouda in this entire fic? xDDD thank you!!! The next ‘in bloom’ instalment will focus on Bakugou becoming involved in anti-bullying campaigns. I’m with you, Bakugou makes me very uncomfortable in canon, but occasionally we get these glimpses of character development (esp in the manga), and I just needed to bring that out and expand on it.

And there will always be typos in my work, unfortunately. I don’t have a beta, and I’m a dumb-ass who always misses my errors. I do my best, but I am only human.

I won’t give you all the details (partly because I don’t have this universe entirely mapped out yet), but you can have some answers:

TodoDeku have a long engagement. They were engaged before we see them in ‘history…’ actually. They’re in no rush, and are very busy with their work lives, and are enjoying the blissfully engaged lifestyle. They’ve been engaged for about a year, and they have some vague plans, but nothing concrete. At the moment, they’re debating the merits of getting married somewhere private in the city vs. getting married on Toshinori’s estate. I’m not sure which one will win out.

Their rankings have changed A LOT! When he officially entered the rankings when he was 19, Deku only ended up no. 20, because it had been over a year since the July Attacks, and he hasn’t actually done much since then, being busy with exams/graduating/entering a hero agency. A lot of people were upset by this, but it didn’t bother Deku. He was ecstatic to scrap into the Top 20 as it was.

Sorry, no. 3 belongs to Inasa (from the manga). The top 10 has changed a lot, too. There’s actually seven 1a heroes in the top 10 - Uravity was No. 11 but got a jump in popularity recently. In order: Deku, Detonation, Gale (Inasa), Polarise, unnamed number 5, Creati, Red Riot, Ingenium, an unnamed number 9, and Uravity.

Shinsou is rankless. He’s an underground hero, and I headcanon that those types of heroes are not typically assigned ranks.

Shinsou has his own role at UA. He does a bunch of stuff: watches the entrance exams, works with some of the Gen. Ed kids, oversees possible transfers between courses, and does guest lectures. Aizawa gives him a lot of independent power.

Bakugou co-teaches Class 1-B. He occasionally guest lecturers other classes (like how Thirteen worked one-off with 1-A during the USJ attack). He has enough time to do hero work too, but he has a less intense work-load now that he’s also teaching.

Kirishima and Bakugou are the only married couple at the moment. They got married when they were 23, before TodoDeku had gotten engaged. They were the first couple to start dating in high school, too. They just … clicked, and never looked back.

Do you mean Kouda or Kouta? Kouda is probably off running a rescue animal shelter while doing minor hero work, too. Kouta is doing amateur film work and arguing with classmates when they don’t believe that he knows pro heroes irl.

I almost wrote Jirou and Momo announcing their engagement at the reunion, but at that point, I had been writing the fic for months, and I needed to upload it before I combusted. So. Yeah. They get engaged around the end of the fic.

I haven’t thought too hard about kids but … I can’t get the image of Kiri/Baku adopting an orphaned girl when they’re in their 30s, and Bakugou ringing up Midoriya to ask him to be the godfather, and Midoriya CRYING FOR HOURS. HOURS. He catches the train over at like 11pm, still in his pjs, still crying, and all over twitter there’s pics of Deku crying into a phone, sparking all kinds of terrible rumours, until he uploads a photo of him cradling his goddaughter in his arms a few hours later.
