Hi danydarkly, we really miss your Willet drawings. I was dreaming of more

Hi, I will refer you to this previous ask. The TL;DR is I don't have time for fanart these days and what little time I have for personal art is spent on working on my current webcomic. While I appreciate the sentiment and am glad that people still enjoy my old willet art, as stated on my blog, I'm not taking requests so please don't ask me to draw stuff. If I draw willet again it will only be because I'm inspired to do so. Also, having a traced version of one of my old willet drawings as your profile picture is not a great look, just letting you know.

Can people stop saying Elriels are changing Elain & Azriel's personalities to make their ship work?

First of all, SJM wrote a bonus chapter and 3 books of buildup in the background for Elriel already. We didn't just make up the fact that they're very into each other - SJM literally wrote that in the books.

We don't have to change anything about them. They are already attracted to each other and interested in each other in the text at this point.

Could we sit here and argue that Azriel sitting in the garden with Elain, Azriel sensing she's missing and in danger when the Cauldron kidnaps her, Elain looking to Azriel for comfort, Elain getting him solstice gifts, Azriel wanting to beg on his knees for a taste of her, Azriel giving her truth teller, Elain kicking the hounds off him, Azriel making everyone wait for her to eat dinner - We can sit here and argue and say those things are "strictly platonic" or "he's an incel who only lusts after her" (not sure how both can be true but okay). We can do that - but it won't change the fact that it is ON THE PAGE. THEIR MUTUAL ATTRACTION is IN THE TEXT.

Cool? Cool.

Next Point: Nobody is changing shit about Elain or Azriel.

It's like the antis saw one post about "oh Elain could be a cool warrior" all the way back in like 2015 and have held onto that like that one grainy af Elucien Facebook comment that one account keeps posting as responses to elriel posts (y'all know who im talking about right 😂).

Allow me to give you a refresher: It is currently 2024. Nobody is trying to make Elain be a warrior. I think most Elriels are of the opinion that we do NOT want ACOSF 2.0.

What we do want to see, is Elain potentially as a spy. AGAIN - not a warrior. This is not changing her personality. She is already a Seer - it is not a stretch to want to see her delve into her powers in the next book to use them to SEE and gather information. Elain is ready to help, she literally says "Find me when you wish to begin."

If people are complaining about fan arts where she's holding a dagger - I'm like 99% positive that dagger is truthteller and you cannot be complaining about an actual canon scene where she has been the only other person to touch that knife in 500 years, apart from Azriel. Not even Mor, his one time love, has touched that knife.

And Elain holding truthteller is in the official ACOTAR coloring book - BTW. So if you have an issue with Elain being depicted with a dagger - take it up with SJM's team.

Let's talk Azriel:

Genuinely not sure what people are saying we are changing about Azriel to better fit Elain?

People bring up the "oh he's too dark for Elain she will shy away from him" um. No. It's literally in the text how Elain calls his scars beautiful and does not balk from him.

Also .. what darkness? I did an entire post on what the hell is Azriel's darkness even and still, nobody had an answer for me because ??

We can't be reducing this man down to a job he took very very reluctantly and clearly hates. He doesn't like torturing people for answers, guys!! Y'all make it sound like his love interest can only work if she's his literal torture assistant or something 😭😭

"Hi azriel, you have a 11 o'clock coming in for the usual water boarding treatment." <tucks hair behind ear and nods earnestly> "and then afterwards, I will wash the blood off your knife and accept your darkness?"

Is that what y'all want 🤨🤨 don't be weird smh

Azriel says it feels wrong to touch Elain because HE FEELS UNDESERVING OF HER?? Have you never read a romance novel? The tortured hero being so reluctant to even touch his love because he's afraid his sins will taint her goodness??

Please people. Listen to like... a Hozier song before you try to understand this man because maybe then you might get a crash course on him. This man is so Hozier coded, it's insane to me that people think of him as some fuckboi incel.

Nobody is changing anything about Azriel and Elain. They are drawn to each other and understand each other without having to say a single word. Their love story is already starting out to be the healthiest: friends to lovers. They have been given a title: death & his lovely fawn.

Their very names mean Azriel "God is my help" or "Angel of Death" and Elain means "Light" or "Fawn" or "God has answered my prayers"

It's already on the pages and if you can't see the writing on the walls, perhaps it's time for a reread my friend.

I would love to know if you have any thoughts on Peter/Xenophilius/Pandora? I think it has potential as all pairs within this are already shipped. Peter with his two slightly spacey partners who get so excited about creatures he’s never heard of. Pandora and Xeno letting Peter talk about herbology. The three of them being the most chill people in the school and they’re so lovely to everyone. (Maybe they’re selling weed from the greenhouses but shhhh)

interesting!! i can see where its coming from, but to me personally it would never work :/ i have a pretty clear characterization of pandora and it differs a lot from the tiktokified/lunafication that i feel is the most popular one ??

i don’t even really ship her with xeno because i have a pretty clear characterization of him too (thanks to @standardlovers mwah) and to me he’s a californian/australian spiritual surfer type guy who doesn’t own a cell phone and ’lives in the moment’. the guy in the frat house who’s a little weird and does mushrooms and holds a seance but also chugs beers and ’loves his brotherhood’ and plays whatever sports there are. soccer i guess. sort of like that blonde guy in 21 jump street. to me luna is more like her father than her mother

pandora to me is an angry impulsive overachiever and she’s always a mess. insane god complex (i mean look at how she died….). i made moodboard for her once here. she swears in every other sentence, wants to be the best in her (male dominated) field, unorganized but organized in her own way. no one understands how she keeps track of things because its so so so bad but she gets it. she has her own system. she’s also loud and not great with social cues. she inturrupts people and is generally unpleasant. shes sort of evans opposite in a way. not that hes more pleasant, but he doesnt even really try to connect with other people. pandora wants to connect. i tend to ship her with dorcas, bella, barty or lily. she needs someone assertive and certain, and someone who can meet her where she is. someone who isn’t put off by her strangeness and unplesantness but is instead drawn to her because of it <3 and also someone who’s a tad bit gross like she is. to thats neither reg or xeno. even if xeno/pandora are canon. i see why and how they end up together. on the outside everything sort of fits. they’re similar in a spiritual sort of way, but to me their personalities would clash. xeno is too soft for her and panda is too harsh for him

and then peter. ive talked a lot about him lately and explained my characterization of him. stoner and ultimate autism swag and cooler than he both understands or realises. he needs someone bratty and annoying (like reg) to keep on his lap. i also can’t really see peter with a girl ? im not entirely against peter/sybill but its also not really doing it for me. so yeah !

caught up with cringetober because I literally forgot to do it, individuals and explanations under cut

Day 1: Heterochromia I’ve come to the revaluation that my sona is already cringe as hell considering not only can his entire body change color but he also has differently colored eyes as a staple of his design. They’re usually yellow and blue but this time I color picked the blue from the trans flag and the mint from the Vincian flag for this color palette, it turned out really pretty :)

Day 2: Self Insert Now she isn’t my self insert anymore, but back in the day when I was at “peak cringe” she definitely was. This is my warriors OC Icypelt and I have a post going over part of her story on my profile somewhere. She’s been through a lot and I think her modern design is very pretty :)

Day 3: Unnecessarily complex fit/design Spider scene is kinda infamous in my brain for having wayyy too much detail but I love them and I think this might be my favorite one out of this batch, super cute, the pose is really cute and the colors are nice and fits her really well :D

day 4: Angel x Devil inevitable MCR reference ik, Helena and Revenge, love them dearly. Poor revenge man this one is cute and looks like a sticker!!

Day 6 (I skipped day 5 because I didn’t want to open up ms paint today): neko i kinda hate this one but cat Gerard yay

Day 7: Pinterest base at first I wanted to draw hobie in place of Gwen but I remembered that I haven’t really drawn Mikey with her even though they’re supposed to be friends so I drew her instead. Idk. The height difference is not accurate because of that but Jumping Spider is small because he’s based on a jumping spider and those are tiny who would have thought

Day 8: tumblr sexyman i have never played undertale a day in my life i just know a lot of people wanted to jump sans’ bones

day 9: Crossover ship/rarepair OH BOY THIS ONE GOES KIND OF HARD AND IM EMBARRASSED ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY KIND OF WORK FOR EACH OTHER UM MIGUEL OHARA X CLOTTED CREAM COOKIE IM INSANE OMG-

day 10: fursona i already have a fursona I already drew and yes I colorpicked from the lesbian flag how could you tell /j

Day 11: Yandere LYLA is technically canonically a yandere because spoiler alert she tried to kill Miguel’s fiancé via overheating her in the shower (essentially literally boiling her like a lobster) because she was “in love” with him (she said if she did have autonomy and had feelings the would be in love with him but she doesn’t but idk who knows I don’t).

day 12: niche interest ik MCR isn’t exactly “niche” but the black parades story in particular has always caught my interest and I have my own interpretation of it and a whole kind of story I’m still developing and character arcs and headcanons and interactions and yeah you get it, death in particular has evolved into god knows an OC on his own I just keep him attached to MCR because… it makes more sense that way, ig-

day 13: creepypasta does this count- whatever grimdark is just the same thing as a creepypasta- I’m not really in the MLP fandom anymore but it was my first ever “fandom” I was actually apart of. My first hyperfixation if you will. I wasn’t in the grimdark part of the fandom because I was too young for it but I was actually watching the izzzyzzz grimdark video and I was like “oh” and drew a rainbow factory Rainbowdash. Honestly I should draw ponies more they’re fun to draw

Day 14: candygore (?) im not good at drawing candygore and since I was rushing this o didn’t do it as well as I thought I can, but it still turned out pretty cool

Day 15: song lyrics aaaa inevitable hesitant alien drawing this one turned out so cute!! The colors and the sparkle eek so cute aaa action cat lyrics I’m breaking down right in front of you I’m sorry

planning on doing the rest of the month now, maybe not exactly on time since I’m still in school but I’ll try to get 31 drawings out by Halloween. Love the idea of cringetober because I just love all things cringe. Ack this is so good

So hi! Yes, hello. I came up with Jimothy several years ago and was the one to submit the prior propaganda to the blog. These two have been in so many scenarios in my mind, y'all have no idea. They are so small. They are both mentor figures (more or less). They, uh, small. Even outside the ship dynamic, I can imagine them being amazing friends. Did you know that prior to their Disney work, both of their original voice actors (Cliff Edwards for Jiminy, Edward Brophy for Timothy) were in a live-action film with Buster Keaton? 14. that one thing you see in fics all the time

Making Edd the primary narrator/pov. And I get it, Edd’s voice can be really fun to write and lends itself to a range of styles while also delving into how he thinks which is interesting. But it’s often favored over other characters and over the other Eds which I think is just a symptom of Edd being a fan favorite. I also totally get that a lot of fans relate really heavily to Edd too, which fair, but then we miss out on exploring motivations and perspectives of the other titular characters!

15. that one thing you see in fanart all the time

Gotta agree with @doubledyke on this one: giving the Eds real hair rather than line hair in adult designs. I’d honestly say I see a 50/50 split on this, with myself being guilty towards team hair most of the time. Or insisting on making either Eddy or Edd blonde - I personally don’t see it, maybe unless Eddy got some frosted tips 💅 And I know I’m supposed to be “choosing violence” but I do enjoy when people integrate their HCs when it comes to accessories (piercings, nail polish) or smaller physical features (like dimples or beauty marks or scars).

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

Eh I think many of the M/M ships still have super entrenched top/bottom or dom/sub tropes. Kevedd was the worst perpetrator of this but eddeddy hasn’t always been that much better. People really want Edd to be submissive 👀 have you seen the show?? And maybe it’s just me but I can’t think of a single real relationship where those lines are drawn so solidly… so not something I find realistic nor do I think it’s substantiated at all by what we know the character dynamics to really be like - a lot more push and pull, more complexity, more flexibility!

17. there should be more of this type of fic/art

But for real, I’d love more fan exploration of the Kankers or Nazz. It’s unfortunate that the show keeps their characters fairly shallow but that also means there is a lot of room to create work that delves more into their lives, personalities, interests, etc. I’m gonna out myself for writing a bad fic ages ago where Nazz and the Kankers sort of strike up the start of a friendship because they never interact in canon. Truly maybe one of the few pieces of eene fan content that passed the Bechdel that wasn’t Nazzarie (I don’t hate nazzarie, but yknow)

already did it… But also I feel like the folks I follow now are way better about this, but making Edd WEIRD or UNLIKABLE! He’s into BRAIN SURGERY and SOCKS! He can be really RUDE and BITCHY! Or the Bible note that he is prone to crushes gets glossed over A LOT. Like let him be strange and have really awkward crushes and write bad poetry and also obsess over special interests that are low key disturbing or gross (:

currently drawing for umbrella academy, shameless and stranger things. first fandom i properly drew for was one direction but i was drawing stuff for like panic at the disco and powerpuff girls and my little pony and my chemical romance when i was like 7

tonnes lol, i’d say every 2-3 pieces i draw gets some kind of negative attention. recently there’s been an asshole in my asks accusing me of fetishising ian and mickey so thats something to look forward to every time i pose

i want to go back to shows i watched as a kid like total drama island and draw the characters in my art style, i did it with the winx club earlier this year and it was fun. i want to draw harringrove but im not mentally prepared to be like,,,sent death threats atm

i really want to draw drummer mickey for some reason

people i guess, maybe like details on clothes and stuff?

im so proud of this drawing even though no one really liked it, like looking at it makes me so happy

like harvey said haha i also use the same colour palette especially skin tones and hair colours also i sketch a lot of the drawings traditionally and then trace over it on photoshop

19. What inspires or motivates you to create for fandom?

myself. i would still be drawing even if no one notices it. heck i draw so much stranger things stuff only for a top of 10 people across instagram, twitter and tumblr to interact with it.

20. And finally, can you describe your process a little? Do you have a favourite place to draw? Do you play something in the background? Do you do research or just go for it? Give us a little insight

i sit at my desk and use a wacom tablet and my laptop. I have my other laptop open and im normally listening to a tv show that ive seen so i dont have to pay attention or a play through of a game or some creepy stories. sometimes i listen to music on my record player. i always spend ages looking at pose references and rage quitting when i dont draw it right the first time before coming back to it a few hours later. i draw mostly in the evenings, after dinner. sometimes i drink a hot chocolate if its late enough lol.

1. When are you usually online? My working schedule has been so awfully overwhelming that the only free time I have is on the weekends, but sometimes I’m so exhausted I cannot even write anything, although I’m often lurking here on Saturday and Sundays nights.

2. What verses are you involved in outside of this page? I have a blog for Sakura Haruno, so every once in a while you can catch me there, but it usually depends on whether my friends there are online or not. As for my verses here, I most use my “alive” verse, and I have recently been able to use my Yu Yu Hakusho verse thanks to some amazing new friends! I also have a special verse in which Kikyo and Kagome are sisters with my beloved Rarity, and a Sesskik verse that I absolutely love.

3. What is your biggest RP pet peeve? I’m a pretty laid back person, so it’s hard to anger me (or so I believe). But I suppose I could say my biggest pet peeves are when people try to pressure me into writing/doing something or when people start drama over small things. I have seen so many people arguing over stuff that’s just... so stupid! Dunno, I’m just too tired to deal with people right now.

4. Are you drawn to specific types of muses? Hmmm, maybe I am? I think it has changed over time, but I LOVE an angsty/misunderstood character. Powerful, complex women that are often mistreated by their writers bring out my fire to write. I need to like and find the character interesting to write it. Oh! And I don’t write male characters, dunno, I just don’t feel comfortable, I’ve had blogs for male characters before but they were always short-lived.

5. Are there recurring themes in your writing that people might not notice? I don’t know, maybe? I LOVE shipping threads, like, omg I’m a hopeless romantic and all the romantic love I don’t have in real life I seek in my writing. But I also love an adventure and I LOVE angst so... I’m not sure which theme could be considered “common” in my writing.

6. What are your favorite RP trends? Hmmm... I think the return of big icons, some time ago it was SUPER cool to have tini tiny icons that were overly saturated and were just a blur of colors that was impossible to decipher. I never understood this trend tbh, to me icons provide a visual reference to your character’s expression, the scene or to focus on a particular aspect of your character’s face/body language, so those impossible-to-understand icons were absurd! Anyway, but enough complaining about old trends! I think the new aesthetic trends are pretty great!

7. What is your process for starting a new story with someone? Good question, I usually just IM them or we start writing and go with the flow. I like this organic kind of writing, where ideas pop up and you move along with them. Planning is great, and having a general idea of where the thread will go is amazing, but discovering HOW it will get there is so... rewarding!

8. How do you feel about duplicates? I’m incredibly insecure, so I avoid duplicates not to compare myself and end up abandoning the blog for thinking I’m not good enough :|

9. How long have you been involved in roleplaying? Oh my, here is where you discover I’m a dinosaur on Tumblr. I’ve been writing on tumblr for around 10 years, and I’ve never written outside of this website, I think I wouldn’t be able to roleplay outside of tumblr at this point.

10. Is there a muse or verse you wish you could write in, but haven’t? Oh, quite a few! But alas, I have no time to write the muses and verses I do have, imagine writing new ones! But one day I want to make a couple more blogs for one or two muses I’d like to give a try!

for steve, i think he would definitely fall for you when you come into family video. he probably would make a fool out of himself, but you two would strike up a conversation. since i picture steve as an extrovert, he would have no issue doing anything with you. you two would click like a puzzle piece. while you are both extroverts, you both are in tune with your domestic/calm selves so you two will have a healthy balance of chaos and calm in your lives. you can have a nice, calm date, but then you can also have an exciting, adventurous date. you could also bring out the outdoorsy part of steve who has probably never had the chance to really experience nature until you. steve would absolutely love reading what you write and would brag to anyone who came into family video that one day, his partner will write a tv show that would put whatever movie they are buying to shame.

oliver wood (circa 1990s - teen Oliver, but y'all would last)

oliver shares a lot of traits as you. he is incredibly competitive so i am sensing a little enemies to lovers troupe. you two would definitely banter, bicker, and have your own little competition of wits, but love swirls beneath the surface and it eventually it will come to the surface. there will be fights, there will be arguments - you two are similar in many ways. but, since you also enjoy the calmness of life, you can show oliver that there is more to life than the go-go-go. once the love starts to come to the surface, i think both you and oliver would open up more to each other. sharing vulnerabilities, worries, fears, etc. through it all, you guys wouldn't lose the spark that brought you two together. you will never lose the light-hearted banter/competitiveness. you two will never be bored or not know what to do. your relationship would be built with adventure woven into the seams. it's you and oliver! showing that sometimes opposites attract does not apply to love.

i got one of the dishonored comics today, The Peeress and the Price (still waiting for the art book to ship), and it was a really cool short comic run!! i’ve got a couple of mixed feelings on certain parts of it though :/

So, spoilers mini-essay with absolutely no spell checking or proofreading to explain my thoughts and critiques :D

— Spoilers for Dishonored: the Peeress and the Price —

the art was incredible, loved it, such a sick style the really harsh lighting had such a sick effect. really cool use of colours too. For some reason on the version i got Emily’s headshot on the cover was like, super low resolution and visibly png compressed? there were a couple of page spreads of D2 location art on the inside too which were slightly compressed looking with a weird sharpness, no idea what’s going on there lol. it was an official print so, i guess maybe it didn’t get proofed properly before it went to print or there was a tight deadline? the actual comic art looks incredible, it’s just the cover and the art spreads, which makes sense cause they’re pieces i’ve seen other places being re-used for this. bit odd though.

It started out super great, diving straight into Emily being confronted with the demand for democracy from a group of Dunwall citizens, and I love that!! it’s a genuinely good question for Emily to be asked, if she’s always looking to do the best thing for Dunwall, would that include abolishing the monarchy? but then the rest of the comic just feels too short to properly explore that and it concludes in such an unsatisfying way. It feels like it was maybe meant to be a 3 issue thing treat had to be shortened to 2? or maybe it was always 2 issues, and really should’ve been 2. idk.

The action is really great, I really love it!! it’s so cool to see how Corvo and Emily fight side by side, and to get it clarified that Corvo’s mark doesn’t get returned post-Delilah in D2. And the antagonist, Price? the way she’s drawn and framed is so cool and I love it, she’s allowed to be so brutal and i love that. but does she really have a motivation? Unless i missed a panel i couldn’t really tell one other than she just wants to watch the world burn. She kinda fits the description of characters from Morely, so in my mind i’m assuming she’s for the fall of Dunwall and the empire because of how Morely has been constantly revolting against the empire in the background of the games, because that actually is a really cool motivation that brings the wider empire into the story and furthered the question of how much good Emily’s position as empress does when balanced against the damage inherent of it being an empire.

But yeah, the ‘im into chaos because, fuckin idk it’s fun to watch the world burn’ methodology of Price kinda doesn’t work for me. I know Price explains her motivation in more detail while she’s attempting to convince Wainwright to use his position to turn peaceful protest into a violent rebellion, but it still just doesn’t convince me without the mention of Morely or a wider motivation.

Also, the part about the ending being unsatisfying? Emily kills like 10 of the rat gang henchmen without a second though, not in self defence either, she usually starts it. So her sparing the leader of the gang and telling the public ‘it’s not my position to decide who lives or dies’… actual what the fuck are you on about 😭😭 since when?? unless that’s meant to be her separating Empress Emily and assassin Emily, and declaring that publicly she’ll limit her powers, but behind the scenes she’ll still control Dunwall??

Also the people were like having a revolution 10 mins ago, but now that Emily has spared one person from capital punishment they’re all royalists again? idk, i loved the art in the comic and the characters but i think some of the writing just wasn’t for me lol

I’ve still to read the actual books and ik they’re a lot longer than a 36 page comic, so i’m hoping they delve into things a bit deeper.

All in all, I think by nature a short run comic is gonna struggle to go very in depth on any topic, i think it did it pretty well for the format and i’d have loved to see the authors and artists given a longer run to explore the ideas they had further :) I think it’s a nice little follow up to show how things work in Dunwall post-D2, and how Emily and Corvo work together and everything. It’s nice to see that there’s been a thought for the continuation of the series and more spin-off media, even if i have critiques of it i’ll always be glad for more Dishonored related media lmao

So it's been a long time since I thought about this, but since we are all talking about Joyboy again due to the last manga chapter. I think it is a good moment to point out an idea!

The "D" will blow up a STORM again!

Interesting, Law... where else do we have a "storm" named? Yes! One of the verses of Binks no Sake tells us about a storm!

Somewhere in the endless sky, a STORM has started coming by Waves a-dancing, sails a-prancing through the wind and rain If we let blow winds of fear, then the end of us is near Even so tomorrow the sun rise again Yo-ho-ho-hoo, yo-ho-ho-hoo!

Now, do you remember when Robin asked about Joyboy to King Neptune?

Neptune tells about Joyboy being someone who made a promise, right?

They don't really know what and why that ship called "Noah" is there, but they do know that once the promise comes about the Noah will FULFILL it's purpose.

And so, you might ask me what the fuck has to do this with storms? Well... let's say that there is a certain myth that probably most of the cultures and some religions have: the Flood Myth!

A flood myth or deluge myth is a myth in which a great flood, usually sent by a deity or deities, destroys civilization, often in an act of divine retribution. Parallels are often drawn between the flood waters of these myths and the primaeval waters which appear in certain creation myths, as the flood waters are described as a measure for the cleansing of humanity, in preparation for rebirth. Most flood myths also contain a culture hero, who "represents the human craving for life".

Good, the floods are created by rains -mostly-. Well, storms bring the rain, aren't they?

Good, good... then, related to the myth there is NOAH'S ARK (I'm pretty sure you all know about, but just in case...)

Noah's Ark (Hebrew: תיבת נח; Biblical Hebrew: Tevat Noaḥ) is the vessel in the Genesis flood narrative (Genesis chapters 6–9) through which God spares Noah, his family, and examples of all the world's animals from a world-engulfing flood

Now, have you seen how it is depicted? They look kinda similar, don't they?

So... what does this mean?

Well I strongly believe that:

1. Luffy and co will create somehow a HUGE storm (don't forget about Dragon having -maybe- some kind of fruit that creates STORMS and Kaido creating constant storms around Onigashima).

Edit: Also I remembered about Enel (a fake god, just like Im) who had the Goro Goro no mi that creates thunder... and also had his "ship" right? well...

They kinda look alike...

(Joyboy is strongly related with Skypea and Nika... and Enel was the bad guy from Skypea...)

2. Remember Arabasta? the problem came when there was a certain powder that was able to create STORMS. Do you remember who's photo had Imu-sama on her/his/their hands? Yeah, VIVI the princess of ARABASTA. What was the main problem? the lack of RAIN!!!

3. Edit 2: I keep remembering shit! Do you remember the Aqua Laguna in Water 7? YES, THE FLOODS?? WELL... W7 was the place where Tom's Workers built... THE ORO JACKSON AND THE THOUSAND FUCKING SUNNY!!!

4. What will this storm, and consequent flood create? THE DESTRUCTION OF THE RED LINE DUE TO THE POWERFULL FORCES OF THE WATER (AND IN MY OPINION, SEA KINGS AND SPECIALLY WHALES HITING THE DAMN RED LINE.... DO YOU REMEMBER LABOON? SHE WAS HITTING THE RED LINE CONSTANTLY) -- the destruction of the Red Line will create no other that the union of 4 seas, hence the ALL BLUE. But also the FALL OF FALSE GODS (Tenryuubitos). Leading to the ENDING of the night... depicted by the DAWN! (I'm pretty sure the D comes from Dawn)

5. The Noah will be useful to be able to save people from those floods.

“What do you mean I can’t bake?!” Patton shouted. “It’s a bakery!” Remus put up his hands to try and calm the angry man. “Janus just needs a day or two to get some of the painting done with spray paint.” Remus explained, his truck behind him filled with tarps and paints. “You said you wanted all the paint done for the Valentine's Day class, right?” “Yeah I know…” Patton huffed. He really didn’t like the idea of being locked out of the kitchens for two days. “Well it’s later this week. He can do brush for most of it but he wants to do this one part with spray paint.” Remus continued. “Consider it a vacation.” Remus tried to help Patton see the bright side. Patton sighed. “Just two days?” Patton asked. Remus put his hands on Patton’s shoulders. “Yes, that’s all. You deserve the break anyway.” Remus comforted. Patton looked up at the sign Remus had hung yesterday, the one he’d been waiting months for and Remus had it up in only about a week. Remus was doing so much to help him. He trusted him. “Alright.” Patton finally agreed. “But please have it done as soon as possible.” “Of course. You can trust me.” Remus said, Janus scoffed behind him. Patton laughed. He looked up at the sign again. It reminded him of something. Something he hadn’t done in a while. “You’re okay doing it all with just the two of you?” Patton asked. “If Remus touches my paint’s I’ll stab him in the hand again.” Janus shouted from the truck. “Again?” Patton turned to Remus who just shrugged. “We’ll be okay. Go do whatever you want.” Remus assured again as he pushed Patton towards his car.

An hour later Patton was in the city. He had stopped at a florist to get some flowers. As he walked in he was almost floored with all the scents that hit him at once. As he looked over the pots and shelves full of colourful flowers a worker came up to him. “Anything I can help with?” The lady asked in a friendly tone. Patton looked up quickly. He glanced quickly at the name tag that read ‘Charlie’. “Believe it or not I’m looking for flowers.” Patton joked, Charlie offered a polite laugh. “Anything in particular?” Charlie looked around at the mounds of flowers. Patton thought for a moment. He knew the answer to this. The same he always got. “Carnation and Peruvian lily.” Patton answered. The worker suddenly had a realisation. “You must be Patton.” Charlie said after a moment. Patton laughed. “I come here that much, huh?” He joked. Truthfully it wasn’t his first time here, but he’d never met Charlie before so he didn’t want to act like he knew the shop. It’d been a while since he came here so he thought maybe the staff had forgotten him anyway. “There’s a note behind the counter on your usual bouquet.” Charlie clarified. “I can make it for you right now.” She walked off and began gathering flowers. Patton looked around as she worked. He was drawn to the back of the store. A shelf without flowers, just small bottles. Most seemed to be perfumes or flower oils but one stood out. “When did you start stocking rose essence?” Patton asked as he plucked the bottle off the shelf. Charlie didn’t look up from arranging the flowers. “Just got it last week.” She shouted from her workstation. Patton turned the small bottle of flavouring over in his hands and inspected the clear liquid inside. “You a baker or a bartender?” Patton turned and began walking to the counter, bottle in hand. “Baker.” He said proudly, although he wasn’t sure how much longer he would be able to call himself that. “Those are the only two kinds of people we get looking for that.” Charlie said as she taped up the paper around the flowers. With Valentine's Day coming soon he knew he could find some way to use it. He paid for the flowers and also got a bottle of the essence. He dropped his essence in the car and looked across the street at his next stop. It was really convenient that they had a florist across from the hospital. He walked into the reception and was greeted with a familiar face this time. “Patton! Long time no see.” The nurse said. “Here to see Moe?” The nurse already knew the answer but asked nonetheless. “Of course.” Patton responded. The nurse typed a few things on the computer before looking up again. “She’s still in the same room. You can go on through.” The nurse smiled. Patton nodded. “Thanks Kait!” Patton called as he walked away. He began humming to himself as he walked. A small song he made to remember the way. “Third hall left, up two flights, fifth room right. Third hall left, up to flights, fifth room right.” Patton hummed this all the way until he reached the right room. At this point he didn’t really need the song to remember but it had become a habit. It helped calm his nerves. He took a deep breath and knocked gently on the already slightly open door. He didn’t know why he was so nervous, she was the one who asked he visited less. She wanted him to focus on the bakery. “Come in.” A voice answered. Patton pushed open the door the rest of the way. He looked over at the bed to see his mother, she smiled as soon as she saw him. “Froggy.” She cheered. Patton quickly walked over and hugged her. “Hi Mum.” He whispered as she squeezed him tightly. He didn’t realise how much he missed her hugs until he was having one. He leaned back and gave her the flowers he was carrying. Even though she got this same bouquet each time he visited she was still excited and sniffed it deeply. “Thank you, dear. It’s lovely.” She said caressing the flowers. “How have you been?” Patton asked finally as he pulled a chair close to the bed. His mother sat up quickly and turned to him. A wide proud smile broke across her face. “They’re saying if the inflammation stays where it is then I should be out by the end of the month!” She announced excitedly. Patton smiled. He wanted to get excited, he really did, but the doctors said the same thing last month. “That’s great!” Patton praised with as much excitement he could muster. “I can’t wait to have you back.” Patton reached out a hand and his mother took it in hers. He really meant that. He missed having his mother around to handle business while he baked. He missed having her hug him each morning. He missed her doting over every new recipe, how she lit up when she tried it, how she would smile proudly as he baked, how she would poke his cheek and tell him everything will be okay. He missed her. “How’s the bakery?” Moe asked. She knew it was in bad shape when she left, but Patton hadn’t visited in nearly a month. She was blissfully unaware of everything happening. Patton wasn’t and fidgeted at the question. “Well… there was a bit of a mix up.” He began. As he looked up he saw her face change. She was so happy a moment ago but now she looked scared. He hated seeing that. “Uh but don’t worry! It will all be fixed by the time you get out.” Patton misled. It wasn’t completely untrue, the problem would be over by then. It was just a question of how that would happen. “Are you sure you don’t need my help?” Moe stressed. Patton waved a finger. “You know that you aren’t supposed to work.” He reminded her. “Besides I actually have some people already helping.” He admitted. Moe looked over curiously. “People as in worker people or as in friend people?” Her voice sparkled mischievously. This was the first time Patton had seen her since he had met Remus and the others, she’d not heard anything about friends.

He explained everything that had happened, omitting the part where the bakery may be shut down. Moe listened closely, it was so long since she’d seen him and each day she just wanted to hear his voice again. As much as it hurt her to not see him as much as she used to, he needed to focus on the bakery, on making friends, on everything being normal again. She noticed something about the way he talked about this ‘Remus’ guy. The way he described him and the face he made when he spoke about him. It was more than just friendship. So when are you going to stop messing about and ask Remus on a date?” Moe said after Patton was done his story. Blunt as always. Patton blushed. “Wh-what?” Patton stuttered. He didn’t know why he felt so embarrassed about it. It wasn’t like he was a closeted high school kid anymore. “I don’t think he’s interested in me like that.” “Are you?” Moe asked quickly. “I don’t have the time to think about that.” Patton gave the same answer he’d given Janus. Moe gave him a hard stare. “Great. Now try again but tell me the truth.” She pressed. She could see right through him. Patton sighed. Perhaps it would be good to get it out. Especially with someone he trusted. “It’s a lot of things. Remus is the first guy I’ve been interested in since the break up which is a little startling. His friend has said he has an issue with boundaries and honestly I can see it. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would date someone like me and even if he did I doubt we’d want the same things from it. He doesn’t seem like the guy who wants more than a hook-up or maybe a few dates.” Patton finally let out. He’d been holding it all in and it felt good to say it. Moe took a minute to process everything Patton had said. “I can think of one cure-all solution that might work.” Moe suggested after a while. Patton leaned in eagerly. “Just talk to the damn guy!” She shouted. Patton leaned back and sighed. He knew that was what he needed to do, but it was also the thing he was avoiding. He finally had someone, he had friends, and that could all be ruined if he said anything. “But what if it goes badly?” Patton said sadly. Moe took her son's hand once again. “Then it wasn’t gonna work out anyway. It might be better to get an answer now before it is too late and it hurts someone’s feelings very badly.” Moe soothed. Her son was so timid, she didn’t want him to miss out on something special because of it. But more so he was sensitive. And he made connections quickly. It was a perfect recipe for a crash and burn.

Patton stayed late at the hospital. Talking for hours with his mother, playing games in the visitor lounge, catching up. Until visiting hours ended and he had to leave. He clung to her one last time, knowing he wouldn’t get the chance to again for a while. When his mum was first brought to hospital when he was a teenager they had made a rule. No crying until after the visit. They had always stuck to this rule, even subconsciously. That’s why the tears didn’t hit until Patton was home. It wasn’t until he stepped into that cold night air that his eyes suddenly began to blur and his chest felt like it was disappearing. In that dark and silence he realised just how lonely he felt. He braced himself against the railing as he walked up the stairs to his apartment. As he got to the door he saw Remus sitting in front of it. He tried to wipe his face before Remus saw him but it was already too late. Remus didn’t say anything, he just ran up to Patton and hugged him. Patton fell into the hug without hesitation. He cherished the feeling of Remus’ arms wrapped around him. He suddenly didn’t feel as lonely. “You aren’t hurt, right?” Remus finally broke the silence but kept the hug. Patton laughed sadly. “No. I just…” Patton began. His mum’s words ran through his head. Just talk to the damn guy! “My mum is in the hospital and I went to visit her.” Patton admitted through sobs. It was the first time he’d told Remus about it. “She has an inflammatory disease and at the end of last year she had some problems with it that affected some of her organs, she’s been in the hospital ever since.” Remus tightened the hug. Patton felt himself nuzzle closer into the larger man’s chest as he heaved. “You don’t need to explain. I’m here for you.” Remus whispered. Patton gripped the back of his shirt. He was shaking like a baby foal on it’s first steps. “I felt so guilty at the picnic for having fun while she was stuck there.” Patton wheezed. Remus felt his heart break from Patton’s words. He didn’t know how to comfort people like Janus does, he wasn’t good with words like Roman. But none of that mattered. He just wanted Patton to be happy again. “Is there anything you want me to do that can help?” Remus asked. Patton looked up at him, eyes larger than the moon. “Just stay. Please.” Patton begged. As a response Remus pressed a kiss to the top of Patton’s head. “As long as you need.” Remus promised. And he did. He made Patton dinner while holding his hand, he waited just outside the bathroom as Patton showered, he turned off the lights and tucked Patton under the blankets. As Remus stepped away Patton grabbed his hand. He wasn’t ready to be alone again. “Not yet. Please don’t go.” Patton whispered weakly. Remus wasn’t sure what to do, but if Patton needed him then he would stay. He kicked off his shoes and climbed into the bed. Patton immediately clung to his chest again. Remus gently placed his arms around Patton again. He could feel each sob and catch in Patton’s breathing. “I’m sorry.” Patton choked. “Don’t be.” Remus reassured as he buried his face in Patton’s hair. “I’d want to sleep with me too.” He joked. He felt Patton giggle sadly at him. He smiled proudly at himself and pulled Patton closer. He kept track of every sob and heave until eventually they all became steady and the small man’s grip weakened. He knew he should leave, but he didn’t want to. He didn’t want to abandon Patton. Or the calming feeling of their bodies pressed together in the darkness. He talked circles in his mind debating whether to stay until finally sleep made the choice for him.

Now, I think since a “Gup-N” hasn’t been made yet, it would be called the Gup-N. I think it would a very simplistic yet larger gup based on a jellyfish or octopus. I’m thinking maybe its soft red or pink?

It could be a gentle floaty type gup that isn’t very fast but can be for a short time in emergency's. It has a ton of storage space and arms for grabbing things.

It could be a gup meant for Professor Inkling mainly, but could be for Shellington and the Vegimals too. Its a gup that is great for collecting things, it has many many arms and a huge storage bucket for just calmly drifting around collecting sea shells and seaweed samples. You know? Perfect for Professor Inkling, Shellington and the Vegimals.

The Captain is very distressed in the Sea Dwellers AU because in that AU, this happened to him and he still hasn’t been able to work out his feelings around it.

As for Tweak? That is no ghost behind her, its supposed to be one of the monsters that Kwazii talked about. She was supposed to canonically have a brief encounter with it, although I haven’t drawn it yet. :/

I’d like to think that they are just as close in the Pirates AU as they are in cannon, they’re relationships are just shaped a bit different.

As for what they do? Well, they’re pirates. They steal things and raid other ships, they harm and sometimes kill other people that get in their way, they probably look for treasure and what not. You know, pirate stuff. :/

The friendship between Kwazii and Tweak is something special for sure. It reminds me of like Po and Tigress from kung fu panda.

They’re so different, and yet they’re still such good friends. Kind’a like siblings you know? Their chemistry is so different but they still find a way to be buddies aside from that. Its really neat. :}

I liked to think that Codish spent a lot of time around Professor inkling, Tweak and Shellington. Because they were, at least to him, the “smart ones” and he wanted to learn from them.

As for the accent? Perhaps he did purposely adopt if from her :0

Well he IS a pirate after all. I can imagine this happens a lot and it throws the crew for a loop sometimes. XD

These are all so good! :0 They all match the characters so well, I really like them! :}}}

I feel like either one of two things would happen.

1: Shifu would flip out like the angry little bean he is.

Or,

2: He’d respect Oogway too much to protest so he’d just accept his defeat.

When I read this I thought, “Whaaat? I remember watching this show, and I don’t remember that happening?? >:0” But then I looked it up and read that in that show canonically Shifu’s dad abandoned him so Oogway raised him and I-

For Barnacles though a female version of him is basically just his twin sister, so it’d be like

Hmmmm.. let me think....

1: I already said it, but I headcannon that Shellington likes to have his hand held when he’s scared.

2: An extension of the first one, if no one is around to hold Shellington's hand? He clasps his hands together and holds his own hand. ;-;

3: I headcannon that Shellington collects things, and just like real otters, he has a favorite rock. :}

4: I headcannon that Shellington sleeps with his bedroom door open for two reasons. 1, he is somewhat scared of the dark and cant sleep without the hall light shining into his room. And 2, he wants the Vegimals to be able to just waltz right into his room if they ever need him at night.

5: .....

..Oh, whelp, turns out I have a lot less headcannons for Shellington then I thought-

I heard that Shifu was originally going to be Po’s adopted dad, which is why they made him a Red Panda. But it was later scrapped.

As for that idea? Man would that be interesting. How would Po have turned out if Shifu had raised him? Also Po’s diet would be frightening to someone as small as Shifu XD

Hmm.. let me think..

I like to think that Captain Barnacles is Kwazii’s best friend. He wouldn’t ever admit that he has a “favorite friend”, but the Captain really sticks out as someone special to him. He could think of him as a borderline father or older brother figure, but overall he’s his mentor. I think he really looks up to the Captain and really respects him and his leadership. :}

I always felt like Peso was like a little brother to him, and I think Kwazii might look up to Peso without Peso really knowing it. Peso is very admirable, someone who has many fears but is able to push through them time and time again to help others. That’s something Kwazii can really admire and respect.

I feel like Dashi is a good friend to Kwazii, and I think he really admires her ability to do all this techno stuff.

I feel like Shellington is one of Kwazii’s best buds. :}

Tweak really strikes me as his sister, but like in an equal way. Not older sister or younger, they’re both on the same page kind’a thing.

I think Inkling is like an older friend that he respects? :0

..Wait, what he thinks of all of them, oh, wait, I wrote what they are to him. Not sure if that still gave you the answers you were looking for orrr..

I’m very sorry to inform you that.. usually they kind’a have to. My dentist told me that having a jaw big enough that your wisdom teeth actually fit is kind’a rare..

As for my experience?

It was rough, really rough. But its different for everyone.

And thank you for all those reassuring words, I’m still going though a tough time and am going back and fourth with my art.. but reading all of that helped me feel a bit better. <:}

And wow! You’ve been around a long time huh? That’s really cool! :} And I’m glad I was able to inspire you! I hope that you continue on your artistic journey, I bet you’ll make some beautiful things! :D

Shadow and Bone Trilogy Book Review

Long, rambling, sometimes-capslock thoughts on the Shadow and Bone trilogy, having just a couple of hours ago finished reading the trilogy of Shadow and Bone, Seige and Storm and Ruin and Rising.

MALYEN ORETSEV IS TOO PURE FOR THIS WORLD AND I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL.

Fair warning: Major spoilers for the whole series and ending, entire focus on Mal/Alina 😅 I apologise for nothing.

I THINK THIS MIGHT BE THE FIRST TIME I’VE EXPERIENCED A SHIP I REALLY LOVE HAVE A HAPPY ENDING. Hooooooly shit. It feels good.

Leigh Bardugo really served up everything I want to see! Give me all the tropes! All the angst! All the longing! AND with a happy ending?! *chef’s kiss*

I’m shook.

It feels amazing that for once in my life, something I ship has finally finished front and centre and I am absolutely here for it!

So let’s first clarify that I went in to the books just after finishing S1 of the Netflix show, already head over heels in love with Mal/Alina and rooting for them the whole way through. They are the reason I read the books. In the stories that I enjoy, I value love above all other aspects of the story; it’s just who I am.

The Pain of Siege and Storm

I admit, about 50% of this trilogy and the majority of Book 2 and early Book 3 was me in pain just wondering why they couldn’t be together and why they kept pushing each other away. Book 2 was an emotional rollercoaster ngl. I was frustrated that they spent so much time being miserable around eachother but were never allowed to be happy or give in to their feelings? They are best friends. Mal wants to support her. LET HIM SUPPORT HER. Let her confide in him and find comfort in him.

Endgame? Not Endgame?

This went on in a similar vein for some time and towards the end of Book 3, I was getting increasingly worried they weren’t endgame and this was indeed all leading up to Mal ultimately sacrificing himself... which obviously did happen...

But when Alina says “Bring him back to me.”, I just thought “THANK YOU. VINDICATION. THIS IS WHAT HAPPINESS FEELS LIKE.” and I knew we were home and dry and my god it felt good.

But I was so happy with the ending. It’s exactly what I wanted to happen, though I didn’t expect it... AND THEN IT HAPPENED. For them to go back to how they were and live the rest of their days in quiet happiness. Neither of them asked for this. They just belonged with eachother.

The last line of the book:

They had an ordinary life, full of ordinary things - if love can ever be called that.

HAPPY SIGH. YES.
